structural functionlism theory
QUESTION
BY USING THE STRUCTURAL FUNCTIONALIST THEORY, DISCUSS PROBLEMS FACING
OPPOSITION POLITICAL PARTIES IN ZAMBIA
In any political system are structures that have different functions to ensure an effective and smooth
running of things in that particular political system. This is why this essay will discuss the problems
faced by opposition political parties in Zambia using the structural functionalist theory. First it will
explain what structural functionalism is, then it will define structures, functions, a political party and
an opposition party then before giving the conclusion it will discuss the problems faced by opposition
parties in Zambia.
Johari (2011) defines structural functionalism as a means of explaining what political ... Show more

The Media is also another structure involved with the dissemination of information to the society.
According to Almond and Powell (1966) a political party needs to communicate with the electorate.
Every time opposition parties receive coverage in an article, have their face on television or their voice
on radio, they assume that they increase their chances among potential voters. In Zambia however
instead of the media being one of the means of popularity exposure for opposition parties, it tends not
to give them enough time because of the media being influenced by government. Zambian Economist
(accessed on 17.12.13) states if the press was free we would for example expect high degree of
information compared to a government controlled media . Hence this becomes a problem for the
opposition.
The Judiciary has a function of enforcing the law and making sure the rule of law is observed. The
Zambia Reports (accessed on 9.12.13) states UPND chairperson for Tourism and Culture Ephraim
Belemus said Acting Chief Justice Chibesakunda was compromised and her continued stay at the helm
of the Judiciary had proved costly to the justice system of the country . From this quotation we can tell
that in Zambia the opposition political parties have been shut from making meaningful contribution to
the nation. This absence of effective participation in the political process is a very serious limitation
that Zambian opposition parties face.

Actively Meandering Rivers
Tabata et al. (2003) used hydraulic geometry to describe morphodynamics of anastomosing Columbia
river. Jain and Sinha (2004) discussed about causative factors and mechanism of fluvial dynamics of
anabranching Baghmati river system. In their study they have observed that anabranching phenomena
of Baghmati river only occurs along middle river course. The authors suggested that inability to
transport high sediment load due to gentle channel slope and dominance of aggradation processes are
responsible for anabranching of Baghmati river. Luchi et al. (2007) investigated small alpine river to
monitor morphodynamics of channel. Their study reveals that the longitudinal variations in grain size
and slope largely determine the braiding intensity of channel thus it signifluences in channel
morphodynamics. Schimitt et al. (2007) analysed morphodynamics typology of upper Rhine river
basin based on multivariate statistical analysis. Hooke and Yorke, (2010) asserted that the channel
morphological changes are not only associated with the spatio temporal variations in discharge and
channel processes but it largely follows the episodic autogenic feedback mechanism. Sinha and
Ghosh, (2012) studied dynamics of river channel in eastern Ganga plain. Their study indicates that
tectonic tilting, sedimentological readjustments are main causative factors of channel dynamics in the
eastern Ganga plain. Nicholas (2013) overviewed morphodynamics diversity of the large alluvial
rivers of the world. He

My First Place Research Paper
Here I am, down in my blocks looking at the ground waiting for the ref to call the next move.
Concentration in my eyes and determination on my heart and mind. The next whistle is called, gun is
blown, and I shoot out of the blocks. Taking the first turn competing for the top spot, running my
hardest. First hundred down, three to go. Getting up in the second place spot. Behind first place now
by only a few steps as we hit the final hundred, I get closer and closer to her. Neck and neck, finally
passing her and finishing with compassion and greatness. Having good sportsmanship walking over to
the other girls and telling them good race. One event down, two to go. I have my relay team ready, we
walk to all our spots, lay our marks down and the race will be starting soon. I m on the other side of
the track, in position, ready to go. Gun goes off and only some seconds later the first handoff is made.
It comes to my hand off, I go when my teammate hits the tape mark. I receive the baton and take off to
the final hand off. I hit the mark, and she goes. Both of us in the zone, I say stick , and her hand shoots
back. She grips the baton and rips it from my hand. She goes the last stretch of the race and finishes.
We take first by about 10 meters. It was still the best race we have ever ran. ... Show more content on

Most Important Factors of Tesco Essay
Most Important Factors of Tesco Tesco first launched their international expansion in 1994. After 11
years their sales have grown to contributing 20%(£7 billion) of the total turnover has been from
overseas sales. The success of Tesco expansion overseas has mainly been down to the strategy of
seeking out new markets in an early growth stage. These markets have few and week competitors and
lots of potential. Tesco expansion overseas has mainly been in Eastern Europe and the Far East. Tesco

In December of 2001 an antitank missile hit the office of EL AL Israel Airline. However the Thai
authorities believed that the target was a Tesco building adjacent that had received numerous bomb
threats previous. The government may also be taking action against businesses in order to protect their
economy. The government of Malaysia has recently taken action against the large investors in the
retail sector. They have recently put a five year ban on any new hypermarkets being build in the
countries top three cities Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Juhor Bahru. The Malaysian government have
also stated that they are concerned with the negative affect that Tesco may have on the economy. As a
result they have stated that any new hypermarkets that are being planned, are to submit their plans two
years in advance. They have also required a socio economical study to be carried out in advance. This
has effect Tesco strategy as they may have to result in building smaller stores where there range is
less.
Economic factors are those that affect the purchasing and spending habits of the consumer. When the
economy is decreasing there will be less disposable income and consumer spending will decrease.
Even though the countries economy is low, it does not mean businesses cannot benefit if the right
strategy is deployed. With the right strategy

Observation Of Literacy Learners
The fourth grade group of literacy learners I worked with was intermediate readers and writers and yet
their individual skill sets varied in some degree. This became evident during the rereads of a close
reading lesson. The lesson consisted of two different passages pertaining to the topic of hurricanes.
However, the lesson was revised by day two to include the second passage. This decision was based
on one of the factors of text complexity involving text structure. Students were able to compare and
contrast the passages, determine the point of views, and synthesize information involving a hurricane
survivor. Choosing a complex text became the most difficult part of the lesson being my first lesson
on the topic. I followed the International Reading Association (IRA) and National Council for
Teachers of English (NCTE) (2014d) guide for choosing complex text, which stated text, is complex if
it is higher than the students independent reading level and if the text ... Show more content on

Before reading the passages, I discussed with students the need to apply their reading strengths and
strategies to help organize key details needed to answer questions. According to the media segment
Metacognition: Thinking About Thinking (Laureate Education, Inc. 2014i) it stated literacy learners
must know when to apply skills for comprehension of text. My group did exactly that as one student
preferred to highlight key details and make notes in the margins. Another student took her time during
silent reading always referring back to the questions. One way to improve future lessons dealing with
metacognitive skills is to display strategies and ability identifiers as a reminder to apply during any
literacy lesson. During the lesson, my own metacognition of literacy was tested. Since focusing on
long passages is quite a challenge, analyzing information according to each paragraph then organizing

Cultural Differences Between Australia And The United States
Upon deploying military assets to any country, there must be an understanding of the operational
variables, such as the host nations populations appeal to having said force occupy their territory and
understanding how it will factor into achieving those goals in order to meet the mission requirements.
Australia and the United States (U.S.) have had a long standing robust relationship supported by
shared democratic values, common interests, and cultural similarities. Both countries have now shared
diplomatic relations for 78 years, proving to be one of our longest standing allies behind the French
(U.S. Department of State, 2017). Australia has shared dual responsibility with the U.S. through

suing Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld as well as a host of Army and Air Force Generals and
policy apparatchiks for allegedly authorizing the use of torture in Afghanistan and Guantanamo Bay.
The four were captured in Afghanistan, either by Americans or America s ally, the Northern Alliance,

That the district courts shall have.... cognizance, concurrent with the courts of the several States, or the
circuit courts, as the case may be, of all causes where an alien sues for a tort only in violation of the

The Alien Tort Statute had been used a mere 21 times since the law was passed in 1789. The courts
have upheld jurisdiction for only two of those cases. But the results of Filartiga v. Pena Irala (1980)
have changed everything. In this case the court upheld jurisdiction and finally found guilty a
Paraguayan ex police officer for torture and murder of Joelito Filartiga. Pena Irala, the Paraguayan ex
officer, was about to be deported from the U.S. Filartiga s family in America contacted human rights
activist and lawyer Peter Weiss, requesting that he find some way to prosecute Pena Irala before he
was deported back to Paraguay where he would be safe from prosecution. Weiss had to be creative and

Musical Critique
One way I became more involved in university life by going to Oklahoma!. Not the state, but rather
the musical put on by the university. My suitemate Anna auditioned to be a part of it, and when she
got the part, she invited us all to watch opening night on November 13th.
I had been to a few musicals near my hometown, but they were rather lackluster and not very well
produced. This left a sour taste in my mouth when it came to amateur theatre performances, so I
hesitated in buying tickets for Oklahoma!. When I talked to my teaching assistant, she persuaded me
to give it a try because I might have a very different experience. I am glad that I went, because the
performance was a very vibrant show that meshed the excitement of college students with the pioneer
lifestyle of the great plains.
The musical was very lively, portraying life in the territory of Oklahoma, and focuses on several
young couples attending the local formal. Laurey is invited by Curley to a dance, but she decides to go
with the farmhand Jud instead to make Curley jealous. Curley attempts to win her back because he
feels that Jud is dangerous and disgusting, and he is in love with Laurey. Simultaneously, Ado Annie

I found Oklahoma! to be very entertaining and hilarious, but it also included some dark aspects, such
as date rape and suicide. The way the writers integrated these darker scenes kept the musical from
being too lighthearted, but still relevant and enjoyable to the audiences. Secondly, this musical
increased my appreciation for the arts. From my previous experiences in live theatres, I was not
expecting the actors to be so well rounded in singing, acting and dancing. Although I am not inclined
to act in front of an audience, I really enjoyed the show and plan to attend more musicals on stage next

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Analysis
World war II in Germany was a dull time for the Jews, hence they were discriminated against by the
germans. Ethnicity plays a big role in this movie because it is the reason that the Jews are locked away
in the concentration camps. The movie is a representation of Political Power becomes Personal
Authority (Nichols, 2010, P.275) in the sense that Aldorf Hitler took advantage of the vulnerable Jews.
This essay will discuss the differences between the Jews and Germans during WW II through race and
ethnicity. This will be supported from examples in the two scenes chosen, book vocabulary, as well as
the formal and social content to analyze the scenes. The movie The boy in the Striped Pajamas: is
about an 8 year old, privileged German boy named Bruno, who loves exploring, is forced to move
away from Berlin with his family to the Countryside during World War II. This is because, his father
has just gotten promoted to Commandment by Hitler himself and was asked to live closer to the
concentration camps. Bruno starts exploring the new area, and soon finds this barbed wired area where
he meets a Jewish boy named Shmuel. Shmuel is held in the concentration camps, however Bruno
does not find out the truth until the near end of the movie. Bruno and Shmuel form an undesirable
bond that later in the movie causes many tragical events. Throughout the two scenes I have chosen to
discuss, there are some similarities. First and foremost, these similarities include, the main idea of

Essay about Courtly Love as an Ennobler in Romantic...
Lancelot, the knight of the cart, is in love with Queen Guinevere, who constantly compromises his
reputation by embarrassing him . Chretien de Troyes writes Lancelot in The Knight of the Cart to be
deeply in love, so much so that he constantly sacrifices his reputation for the queen. Classically, the
romantic hero developed from an extravagant to an ideal character (Williams 275) in typical Romance
literature. Although Romance literature has many variations, Lancelot portrays this transition from the
extravagant, noble, knight to an ideal character in the tale. Lancelot depicts what is ideal for what a
woman would want, and this in turn does ennoble him. Lancelot is ennobled by courtly love, but
unintentionally. By placing himself above ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He endures the pain without hurting his reputation because no one knows him, which leads to means
in which he ennobles himself. This is set off by his suicidal thoughts, prompting a young girl to
mistake this action as one of embarrassment for his reputation. Won t the news of his disgrace in the
cart be known to all? He certainly should want to be killed, for he s better off dead than living.
Henceforth his life is shamed, scorned, and wretched (de Troyes214). The girl then feels bad because
she mocked him, and gives him horses and equipment with extra care to go find the queen. Lancelot
was never worried about the embarrassment, but rather his love. The embarrassment, however, led
him to both information and equipment to go after her. When he is offered more information, it s love
that makes him strong and bold and he literally offers to do anything (de Troyes 215). Without the girl
s compassion he wouldn t have had the armor or information to save the queen, which would have
made him devastated and humiliated without any chance at redemption. His cart incident is repealed
by his ability to save the queen. Lancelot also reinforces his ability to overcome the petty gossip that
emerges from his time in the cart. He sees no reason for it to bother him, because he knows why he
jumped in, and he doesn t refrain from expressing this. To spare a man he defeated in battle, he forces

The Pros And Cons Of Jackson s Presidency
The differing interests between the North, South, and the West began to become clearer over time.
However, I believe that many of these crucial issues were addressed head on during Jackson s
presidency, but that was only the beginning. Compromises were made to prevent the splitting of the
Union, consequently, these topics, the Indian Removal Act of 1830, South Carolina are Nullification
Crisis, the Bank War, and slavery were the most controversial. Thus, once these contrary world views
had dominated the sectional compromises were no longer possible.
As soon as Jackson entered office, his first major policy was to address the issue of the Native
Americans. This came as no surprise since he had always been in favor of removing the Native
Americans, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Senator Henry Clay sided with Nicholas Biddle, the president of the Bank, and encouraged him
to renew his charter four years earlier. Since Clay was also running for president that year he believed
that Jackson had chosen the unpopular side and that a congressional endorsement of the Bank would
embarrass or even discredit the president (Brands 260). Jackson portrayed Biddle as an enemy of the
people and made it his personal mission to destroy the Bank personifying it as a monster corporation .
In the North they favored the Bank because they had strong banking institutions due to industrial
economy. Meanwhile, the South did not have much need for the Bank because they were mainly an
agricultural economy which meant large amounts of cash were uncommon. In the West, the land was
mostly new territory with economies not as developed; therefore they wanted paper money because
getting a loan was easier. However altogether, Jackson s first move was to veto the Bank bill; he
viewed this as his mandate for reelection. In the end, Old Hickory s popularity won the election and he
bulldozed right through Henry Clay locking onto his next target, Biddle s bank. Even with four years
left on the Bank s charter, Jackson could not wait four years for it to expire. Impatiently, Jackson
ordered his secretary of the treasury to remove federal deposits from Biddle s Bank. Although Jackson
had wanted to keep the money in a public bank, he never ironed out the details, so they went to state
banks instead. In the end, the Bank never regained its

Comparing Poems Death And Be Not Proud
Poems about
Death, Be Not Proud by John Donne, Because I could not stop for Death and I heard a Fly buzz when
I died by Emily Dickinson all have one theme in common: death. Typically, death is associated with
negative connotations, but Death, Be Not Proud is a more cheerful tale of how death lost its sting.
Because I could not stop for Death also has a similar theme because. Like the other two poems, I
heard a Fly buzz when I died talks about an interruption of a person s death by a fly. Death. Be Not
Proud, Because I could not stop for Death, and I heard a Fly buzz when I died are all poems revolving
around the theme of death.
Death, Be Not Proud has an unusual theme compared to other poems about death. This poem talks
about God rendering death s power useless. It speaks about death positively, instead of a gateway to
Hell, it is instead a path to Heaven. At the beginning, it seems this poem is a letter taunting death,
saying that one day, death will be no more. It compares death to sleep, saying that eventually, people
will awaken for eternity. This poem has a great way of intertwining death and Christianity together in
a motivational letter. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

this eternity resembles Heaven or Hell, it remains unclear. This poem gives an accurate representation
of the short journey s people have until

A Report On Pneumonia Vaccine
Pneumonia Vaccine Policies in Kenya
Tram Nguyen
Arizona State University Pneumonia Vaccine Policies in Kenya Pneumonia is a form of acute
respiratory infection which is caused by a bacterium called Streptococcus pneumoniae. Pneumonia is
transmitted via air borne droplets from coughing and sneezing, and it may also spread through blood.
In 2015, pneumonia killed 15 percent of all deaths in children under the age of five, becoming the
leading cause of death in children all over the world (World Health Organization [WHO], 2015a).
Many efforts were made to reduce the prevalence of pneumonia, including the free vaccination
program in 2011 against pneumonia in Kenya, which is supported by WHO and GAVI Alliance
(WHO, 2015b). However, in 2012, Kenya was still ranked among the 15 countries with the highest
number of deaths caused by pneumonia, suggesting problems with the current policies (Onyango,
Kikuvi, Amukoye, Omolo, 2012). This paper will evaluate these existing policies and discuss potential
solutions to overcome the epidemic of pneumonia in Kenya.

A convertible bond is a bond that can be converted into a pre determined number of shares of stock.
This would happen during the life of the bond. The number of shares it can be converted to is

How does the concept of margin on a commodities contract differ from that of margin on a stock

Margin requirements on commodities contracts (2 10 percent) are much lower than those on stock
transactions, where 50 percent of the purchase price has been the requirement since 1974.
Furthermore, in the commodities market, the margin payment is merely considered to be a good faith

According to national surveys, 73% of British adults wagered on gambling activities (including

characterised by persistent gambling that precedes gambling related harms [6]. Whilst personal
accounts of disordered gambling behaviour and harms related to specific gambling products have
garnered a large amount of media exposure and research interest in the UK, the provision and

Management 303 SWOT Analysis of USAA
Section I Organizational History
Fortune 500 company, United Services Automobile Association (USAA) began as a small group of 25
U.S. Army officers in 1922. Nearly 90 years later, it is now an organization with more than 7.4 million
members, offering banking, investing, retirement and insurance services worldwide. Since its
inception, USAA has expanded membership eligibility to include all members of the Armed Forces
and their family. What makes USAA stand out is that it is not a corporation, but an inter insurance
exchange. This allows each member to be insured by every other member concurrently, yet only liable
for the premiums which they have paid in. Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weakness #2 No Particular Agent The second organizational weakness is the lack of personalized
service. It s impossible to give personal attention to as many members as USAA has like it is for a
smaller community bank and insurance provider. Since the organization is so large, it is easy to feel
lost in the mix and just another number. Smaller community banks and insurance providers have the
benefit of getting to know their clients personally, may be better able to serve their specific concerns
and clients tend to be more comfortable doing business with someone from their own community with
whom they deal with consistently. Also, it can be frustrating that you are unable to speak to the same
representative twice when calling a large business such as USAA. USAA can minimize this weakness
by creating teams of representatives for their members. Each member can be assigned to a team of 5 7
USAA representatives, one of which will be answering that members concern. Teams would be
comprised of representatives from each specialty (IRA planning, mortgage help, banking etc.) and be
available only to their customers. This strategy would provide comfort to the members who like to
deal with the same individuals when doing business.
Section III Opportunities and Threats
Two opportunities presented to USAA are to expand the number of physical locations both
domestically and nationally and to provide additional services to programs already being used. Two

The Dangers Of Vaccinating Children From Viruses That...
Mothers who are vaccinated are protecting their unborn children from viruses that could cause birth
defects. Protecting future generations is vital in order to try and exterminate disease. The dangers of
not vaccinating include exposing the individual child to disease, and also exposing other vulnerable
people who may have compromised immune systems or not are eligible for vaccination. By receiving
a vaccination you are limiting a future outbreak. Disease has been a problem for as long as mankind
has been around. By making vaccinations mandatory for schools in every state we as a whole will be
much healthier and less likely to get sick. 93% of children between the ages of 19 35 months have
gotten the vaccine for Polio and the causes for that disease have decreased by 99%. In today s world
our medicine and science is getting much better. One of the first vaccines created was for smallpox. A
man named Edward Jenner discovered that by taking the right amount of the live virus cowpox
(vaccinia) and injecting it into his patients they did not catch smallpox. Like most things, the right
dosage of a vaccine can prevent people from getting sick. The fact that vaccines have nearly gotten rid
of some deadly diseases is a reason why getting vaccinated is important. With better education and
information, people who choose not to vaccinate their children can be encouraged to consider
vaccination, which will benefit both their families and society as a whole.

Mr Incredible is the main protagonist of The Incredibles film. He is portrayed as a strong; confident
and brave superhero. At first he is strong and independent and likes to work alone , but as the film
progresses he realises he cannot do everything by himself and needs his family to help him.
He is portrayed as strong by viewing him from high angles to make him look taller or bigger than the
person he is standing next to or the enemy he is fighting. When Mr Incredible is standing alone or has
just defeated an enemy, he stands tall with his fists on his hips and does the classic superhero s pose .
This not only makes him have a more confident and brave look, it make the viewer almost fear him
and therefore not want to fight with him.

Heteronormativity In Walt Disney Films
This essay will identify and discuss heteronormativity and how it exists in our society. By making
reference to relevant sources such as Steyn van Zyl, the ideals of a heteronormative society will be
explored and how they have been shaped by our social and cultural context. A recently produced Walt
Disney film will be identified which portrays these standards of heteronormative gender structures. By
analysing the film and making reference to an independent source, the background and history of this
example will also be explored to determine if and why Disney films continually perpetuate
heteronormative discourses of gender using the media.

Heteronormative discourses which exist in society can be seen in examples involving media.
Advertisements, films and television all carry some form of heteronormative construct in their content
which is exposed to large audiences of men and woman of all ages. Such heteronormativity and
gender constructs perpetuated by the media will be explored using an example of a recently released
Walt Disney film called Frozen (Buck Lee 2013). As evident in many other films created by the
Disney franchise, the film s characters are made to depict a rich and exclusive heterosexual landscape

The film Frozen (Buck Lee 2013) follows a plot about a princess who goes on a journey with the help
of companions to find her estranged sister, whose magical powers that control ice and snow have
confined the kingdom in an eternal winter. Although majority of the film s storyline does not make
reference to heteronormative discourses, there are many scenes and songs performed in the film which
appear to perpetuate heterosexual and ideal gender constructs. This is portrayed both by the creation of
specific body images of the male and

Personal Values And Values
1. The UA College of Medicine Phoenix values its culture, curriculum, and the community it serves.
Which aspect(s) do you value the most? (required, 350 words max)
Health, humanity, and human connection are a few of the values which I hold to the highest regard.
Health, because of its central importance to human happiness and well being. Humanity, because of
the uniting and healing powers of compassion and love. And human connection, because of the sense
of belonging, identity, and support that is provided through our meaningful relationships with others.
These values are particularly important to me due to their necessity in not only the longevity of life,
but in living a life of worth and quality. We learn from the experiences and insights of others, and we
learn together in our pursuit of new experiences alongside those whom we befriend. These
experiences and connections play an important role towards small and largescale economic progress,
personal and populational health improvements, and the entwined facets of happiness and
productivity. In a more role specific sense, these values are of the utmost importance to me because I
believe that the best care is given by a physician who truly cares for and understands their patients,
allowing them to improve their patient`s outlook on and quality of life, as well as their health. The
experiences that I have gained from overcoming adversity within my own life have instilled within me

Structure in A Woman s Beauty by Susan Sontag
In Sontag s A Woman s Beauty the structure the author uses for the story has a dramatic impact on the
readers. In the story, Sontag structures the essay base on many historical events and other religious
ideas to support her idea, how a woman sometime is only judge by her appearance. Specifically,
Sontag uses three ideas in the story to support her argument. First is in history what the Greeks believe
in a woman s beauty. Second, Sontag discuss about how the Christian religion plays a major role in
shaping how a woman is judge only base on her beauty. In the end, Sontag talks about in today s
society how woman are still judge by her beauty. However, in the end Sontag mentions how the
society should stop judging a woman only base on her beauty. In the beginning, Sontag structures the
history on what the Greeks believe about a woman s beauty. Base on what Sontag describes, the
Greeks believe if a woman is beautiful in the outside, she must be really beautiful in the inside as well,
in this quote If it did occur to the Greeks to distinguish between a person s inside and outside, they
still expected that inner beauty would be matched by beauty of the other kind. (Sontag 15) in this
quote Sontag talks about how the Greeks believe if a woman is pretty in the outside, she must be a
good person inside. Moreover, after the discussion about what the Greeks believe in history, Sontag
compares that idea to today s society. We not only split off with the greatest

change in macbeth character
Macbeth s character shows us the tragedy of over ambitious people; it also shows us that negative
aspects can overwhelm the good side of our personality.
Throughout this piece of writing I will be showing the changes within Macbeths character, which is
the only character within the play that has visible changes in his character. I will be describing these
points by inspecting the asides and soliloquies, which are both dramatic ironies that place the audience
in a privileged position as they are introduced to the characters thought pattern that gives them an
insight to how he may be feeling. All of which is unbeknown to other characters in the scene.

and this explains how double faced and furtive devious he becomes.
Act IV, Sc I shows how Macbeth believes only in the witches, he trusts them and makes all his plans
and arrangement according to their prophecies. This doesn t only show us a mental change but also
how Macbeth lost his morality, honesty, and nobility and became more frenzied, no more mercy to be
thought of or shown and decides, The firstlings of my heart shall be
The firstling of my hand.
Comparing this to the first soliloquy in my piece of writing we perceive a tremendous development of
his personality and attitude. He is not hesitant about killing any more and will do any thing to keep his
throne and power.
Following his meeting with the witches they tell him to be ware Macduff and macbeth acts upon this
warning by sending murderers to kill His wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls this act shows in
depth how immoral he becomes.
It didn t stop with killing the king, his friend, Lady Macduff and her children; Macbeth has lost even
the sense of what does love and family mean and becomes more selfish. In Act V, Sc v, the servant
informs Macbeth of the distressing sorrowful news about the death of Lady Macbeth But he replies
with cold nerves: She should have died hereafter;

Narwhal Poem
Narwhal
The ocean was still and smooth, like a black mirror reflecting ivory clouds and cyan shadows. In it, a
pale blue whale of immense size surfaced and swam gently, like a dropping tear on a cheek.
All the misery from around the world was drawn to the sea and formed its ripples. The whale
swallowed the grief silently, from the northeast to the southwest, and the world was quiet and
peaceful.
Over time, the whale could no longer bear and hold the sorrows inside his body. The pain transformed
and twisted into a long, grey tooth; it pierced through his forehead like a unicorn s horn.
One day, people saw this anguished whale from the shore. They were amazed by a creature they had
never seen before. They gazed at his splendid horn, and a strong greed grew inside of their hearts.
People took boats, wood, and anything that could let them float. They surrounded the whale and
trapped him, but the whale was too huge to be carried. So, they used thick ropes to hitch his head, ...

however, were ignorant of the change.

Time passed by. A sailor was drowning in the fierce ocean from shipwreck. He struggled and tried to
stay afloat, but desperation and death were stronger than him. When he was ready to give, he saw an
island a short distance away. With his last ounce of strength, he swam to the island and pulled himself
onto the beach. He lay prone on the sand, and couldn t believe that he was still alive.
When he lifted his head up, the forest soughed in the breeze. The subtle comfort slowed his breath and
brought him an inner peace he had never felt before.

Weapons of World War I Essay
There was a 17% difference in casualties from the Napoleonic Wars to World War I. This can be
credited mainly to the new weapons. There were many different weapons in World War I, whether
they were completely new or just variations and improvements of previous weapons. Some of the new
weapons included machine guns, mustard gas, Zeppelins, and planes, while some of the improved
weapons included the bolt action rifle, the Howitzer, and pistols. The innovative new weapons that
were introduced in World War I have forever changed the way wars were fought. World War I was the

The Germans had sent out U boats because they simply could no longer afford a purely defensive
naval strategy. The Germans were the first to use torpedoes in battle to make their U boats even more
deadly. A torpedo is self propelled underwater missile launched from a tube located on the deck or
inside the hull of a warship. Torpedo tubes were first built into submarines in 1885 by the Swedish
armaments manufacturer, Thortsen Nordenfelt. Torpedoes in 1914 carried a contact triggered
explosive warhead and had a range of 10,000 meters and could travel at 41 knots.1 However, their
ideal range was about a kilometer because they tended to be inaccurate over longer distances. The
Germans had definitely revolutionized naval with the introduction of their U boats. If it had not been
for them, there may not have been any good offensive weapons to use at sea. The Germans had
created much more powerful weapons by implementing torpedoes into their U boats. This was a very
smart idea by the Germans as it allowed them to catch many enemies off guard and be much more
successful at sea. It was smart of them to take a more offensive approach to naval battles instead of
their usual defensive approach. Not only was a new approach taken towards naval battle, but land
warfare was also highly improved. Land warfare was perhaps the most improved aspect of World War
I in terms of new weapons and combat strategies. Not

The War on Drugs Essay
The War on Drugs
To fully understand the significance and the seriousness of a War one must first fully understand the
reasons that caused it in the first place. In this specific case the solution begins with several important
yet seemingly simple questions...What is marijuana? How is it used? And why is it so coveted and
widely distributed in Jamaica as well as the rest of the world?... All these questions help clarify the
reasoning behind the war on drugs and further investigation shows how Jamaica ends up being an
important country in this puzzle as well. Lets begin with the first question, (What is marijuana), of

Moreover, the longer a substance has been illegal and the harder it is to obtain the substance the more
profitable it becomes. Therefore, marijuana (because it fits into this category) can be a very profitable
in its import and export for a country even if it is outlawed as illegal. One country that has struggled
endlessly with this drug, its illegal usage, and decriminalization is Jamaica. Using Jamaica as a model
for the more in depth study of the war against drugs proves to be most interesting in that Jamaica has
had a long and economically fluctuating history with marijuana. Henceforth, to lead us into the study
of Jamaica and its legalization and decimalization of marijuana that can be used on both a large and
small scale we turn to a reliable inside source of Jamaican journalist. Where they discover that the
strong marijuana presence in Jamaica has been an issue which has sparked some controversy and
questioning, regarding the decriminalization of marijuana amongst not only Jamaicans but people all
over the world. Many people have asked the question, how can marijuana be so abundant and openly
used in a country and yet not be legal or at least decriminalized? Jamaican journalists, through

Underground Railroad Dbq
The Underground Railroad was a secret network as a whole and many who were apart of the operation
remained in secrecy due not only to the fear of being caught, but so they could continue to help. To
those who were accomplishes, this wasn t about getting any credit but about standing up for something
they believed in. These people risked their lives for nothing in return other then knowing they did the
right thing. These people were called abolitionists and their goal was to end slavery during this time of
debate. It was an extremely diverse group when it came to those who were involved in helping. These
people ranged from religious leaders to higher class whites and back to slaves that had already ran
away or were previously freed. Regardless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most known conductor was the famous Harriet Tubman. Once they reached a station, there was a
new group of people in place whose jobs were to help them hide on the boat or train they were
traveling on. This position could have ranged from a conductor to any abolitionist that worked for the
train or boat as their profession. Their job description was named stationmaster. There was also a role
called stockholders that provided money and resources to help the slaves along their journey ( The
Underground Railroad PBS.com). Many white or religious abolitionist played the role of being almost
like a half way house, called things such as stations or depots ( The Underground Railroad: A Daring
Escape Route for Slaves ) where the slaves were able to safely stay and rest at in between transitions
of moving; in order to not be caught. These places were like safe houses for slaves. It was thought to
be the the last place anyone would expect them to be hiding due to the hosts normally being white and
or religious. Another role that was just as important after the slaves finally made it to their destination

Effects Of Social Media On Teenagers Essay
Effects of Social Media on Social Comparison and Self Esteem in Teenagers Nikolo Bobadilla, Gaby
Juarez, Lexi McCaig, Noe Molina Texas Tech University Social media applications have had a large
impact on many different generations. With the rise of technology and opportunity, social media has
become the epicenter for teenagers and college students to express and connect with others through
pictures, videos, and personal content. According to a new study from Pew Research Center (2015),
92% of teens report going online daily including 24% who say they go online constantly. As more
teens go online, teenagers self esteem and social comparison are impacted with the rising use of social
media platforms, like Facebook, in both negative and positive ways. In the same study, Pew Research
Center (2015) found that Facebook remains the most used social media site among American teens
with 71% of all teens using the site. However, a study done by Amy L. Gonzales and Jeffrey T.
Hancock found that in many cases Facebook can actually have a positive effect on self esteem and
social comparison. In today s society, social networking sites have almost become a mandatory item to
have. Without this, certain barriers are created from you, others, and the online world. But, people
who are active on social networking sites also open themselves up to social comparison and public
scrutiny from the mass piles of information about themselves

Game Theory Term Insurance Essay examples
Game Theory in Life Insurance
The insurance industry has long been applying game theory to evaluate whether or not individuals are
insurable and determine how much premium to charge them based on their apparent needs. This
interaction between the consumer and the insurance company can be characterized as a game because
not only are they playing against one another but each party is waging on an outcome more beneficial
to them. In a traditional life insurance, there are many variables to consider when utilizing game
theory to form a strategy as there are investment components along with complex riders. Thus, in
order to keep the game relatively simple, this paper will assume the insurance being considered is term
life and use game ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, the presumed opponent is Mother Nature. Professor Marvin D. Troutt, who wrote the classic
work on game theoretical approaches to life insurance purchasing, explains how the potential
consumer is at odds with nature: there is the option of delaying the purchase for a number of years in
the future at the risk that Nature, or chance, will intervene and allow death (or insurability) to occur
before insurance begins (Troutt, 1988).
Using Troutt s model in a normal form matrix below, the buyer has two possible strategies (Insure and
Not Insure) while Mother Nature has two possible strategies (Live and Die). The payoff of the game is
the family s wealth at the end of the year. The payoff matrix looks like this:
Mother Nature
Strategy
Live
Die
Buyer
Insure
1, 0
1, 0
Not Insure
0, 0
1, 0
Figure 1
As the above table is dealing with one s life, it is safe to assume that the game is a one shot,
simultaneous game for the fact that this game is only going to happen once and that the decision of
each player is unknown from the other. In this scenario, the prospective buyer s best strategy (1, 0) for
this game is to Insure if Mother Nature chooses Die as highlighted above. This is ideal for the buyer
because this unfortunate incident will generate a payoff to benefit the family based on the face amount
purchased. Two of the

Erin Finley Fields Of Combat Chapter Summaries
The chapter Clinical Histories: From Soldier s Heart to PTSD from the book Fields of Combat by Erin
Finley, examines U.S. military community s perception of combat stress casualties. From the Civil
War times until now, there has been growth in the understanding that soldiers face extreme
psychological consequences, like behavioral and functional problems, after returning home from war.
In 1980, this behavioral and functional problem is formally recognized as Post Traumatic Stress order
(PTSD) in the U.S. and it was internationally recognized in the late 1980 s. Not only was the diagnosis
given to survivors of combat, but also noncombat traumatic experiences, such as rape, natural disaster,
rape and etc. The chapter looks at the historical

Control Processes Essay
Discuss the types of control you and your friend would use and the control processes the two of you
would implement as new owners of the firm. Control processes that should be implemented
Cybernetic control system
Is defined as a self regulating system in which standards of performance are determined, once
operating can automatically monitor the situation and take corrective action. (Management Pacific
Rim focus Bartol, Tein, Matthews, Martin 4 th edition). Cybernetic control makes performance
comparisons between the standards and actual performance, and feedback provides information on the
variances.
The cybernetic model of control is associated with delivering efficiency in mechanistic organizations
(Brownell 1987) that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bureaucratic control hinders innovation and inhibits rapid change. For this reason bureaucratic control
should be combined with clan control.
Clan control
According to Bartol et al clan control uses values, beliefs, traditions, corporate culture, shared norms
and informal relationships to regulate employee behavior and facilitate reaching of company goals.
Clan control builds commitment to organizational objectives by making employees willing to face
change. This replaces bureaucratic control s emphasis on rules and regulation.
For this reason clan control is needed with firms such as this with routine jobs. So in future changes
can be made such carrying different stock or more flexible duties for everyone. This will also reduce
labor costs as a person can do more then one task. Since there is increased emphasis on clan control,
the plant firm can improve productivity and reduce costs.
ASSESING CONTROL SYSTEMS
To make sure controls are facilitating change and innovation and improvement in the business control
systems need to be monitored to ensure they get expected results if problems such as the following are
present the control system will need to be looked at carefully.
Negative attitudes
Implementing of controls can lead to negative attitudes if controls don t meet the business
requirements or are poorly designed (Greenberg and Strasser 1986).

The Voice of Linkin Park
The Voice of Linkin Park Over Linkin Park s entire career, they have won over sixty awards ( Linkin
Park Awards. ). Their success was kick started by their debut album, Hybrid Theory, which contained
massive radio hits (Leahey). Linkin Park went through many changes in order to get to where they are
now. The band was eventually signed to Warner Bros and proved to be worth the investment. There
are numerous ways to determine the quality and worth of a band and their success. Although Linkin
Park faces few alternative metal rivals, they can easily be considered the best rock band of the 2000s
due to their numerous awards their substantial amount of sales. There are certain qualitative and
quantitative factors that a band must fulfill in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hybrid Theory reached Diamond Status when their sales topped ten million (Leahey). Such an
accomplishment allowed the album to be considered as one of the most successful debuts ever
(Leahey). Linkin Park later received three Grammys nominations for the debut album as well. In the
2000s, Linkin Park not only received over sixty awards, but they also were nominated for a hundred
and sixty nine more (Leahey). It should also be taken into consideration that the statistics listed below
only refer to one of five albums. Some bands don t even reach Linkin Park s status of worth after their
first album when compared to their entire career. The amount of years that a band has been together
does not necessarily mean they are better or the best. For example, some of the bands that did not even
come close to making the list have never even won a Grammy let alone been nominated for one.
Although many people have their own opinion as to what a good band entails, based upon the criteria
that is created and evaluated, any band can justifiably be the best rock band. Based upon evaluating
rock bands on their number of awards and sales, Linkin Park is arguably the best rock band of the
2000s. There is no denying that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Not everyone is going to
easily agree that Linkin Park is the best rock band. On the other hand, based upon the criteria created,
arguments can be made as to why they under some circumstances that they are. Some of the other

In this essay I am going to evaluate the extent to which Freud s theory of psychosexual development
can help us to understand a client s presenting issue. I will be describing Freud s psychosexual theory
and its relationship to adult neurotic behaviour as well as looking at the criticisms of Freudian theory.
According to Freud personality is mostly established by the age of five. Early experiences play a large
role in personality development and continue to influence behaviour later on in life.
Freud s theory of psychosexual development is one of the best known, but also one of the most
controversial. Freud believed that personality develops through a series of childhood stages during
which the pleasure seeking energies of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Oedipus Complex describes these feelings of wanting to possess the Mother and a desire to
replace the Father. The term Electra complex describes a similar set of feelings experienced by young
girls. Freud believed that girls experienced penis envy.
Eventually the child begins to identify with the same sex parent as a means of vicariously possessing
the other parent. For girls Freud believed that penis envy was never fully resolved and that all women
remain fixated on this stage. Psychologists such as Karen Horney disputed this theory, saying it is both
inaccurate and demeaning to women. Horney suggested that men experienced feelings of inferiority
because they cannot give birth to children.
The Latent Period Age 6 to puberty erogenous zone Sexual feelings are inactive
During this period, the libido interests are suppressed. The development of the ego and superego
contribute to this period of calm. This stage begins around the time that children begin school and
become more concerned with peer relationships, hobbies and other interests. This period is a time for
exploration in which the sexual energy is still present, but is directed into other areas such as
intellectual pursuits and social interactions. This stage is important for the development of social and
communication skills and self confidence.

The Black Panther Party For Self Defense
Huey Newton and Bobby Seale founded the Black Panthers Party for self defense. In finding the
Black Panther Party, Newton and Seale based the ideas and visions on the works of Malcolm X, a
prominent figure in the Civil Rights movement, who had a by any means necessary attitude . Malcolm
had represented both a militant revolutionary, with the dignity and self respect to stand up and fight to
win equality for all oppressed minorities. Once they created the group Newton and Seale organized a
mission statement, Ten Point Program, and a Uniform. The BP mission statement included:
[practicing] militant self defense of minority communities against the U.S. government, and [fighting]
to establish revolutionary socialism through mass organizing and community based programs . The
supplement Ten Point Program of the Black Panther Party included: Freedom, Full Employment, an
end to robbery by the capitalists of black community, housing, education, exemption from military
service, end to police, freedom for convicted blacks, wanting all people tried in court to be tried by
jury of their peer group from black communities, and land, bread, clothing, justice, and peace.
The Black Panthers were unmistakable not only by their mission statement and Ten Point Programs
but also by their uniforms. Panthers were noticeable by their black leather jackets, blue shirts, black
trousers, and black breets that Huey Newton said were international hat for the revolutionary. Huey

This is why this essay will discuss the problems faced by opposition political parties in Zambia using the structural functionalist theory. First it will explain what structural functionalism is, then it will define structures, functions, a political party and an opposition party then before giving the conclusion it will discuss the problems faced by opposition parties in Zambia. Johari (2011) defines structural functionalism as a means of explaining what political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Media is also another structure involved with the dissemination of information to the society. According to Almond and Powell (1966) a political party needs to communicate with the electorate. Every time opposition parties receive coverage in an article, have their face on television or their voice on radio, they assume that they increase their chances among potential voters. In Zambia however instead of the media being one of the means of popularity exposure for opposition parties, it tends not to give them enough time because of the media being influenced by government. Zambian Economist (accessed on 17.12.13) states if the press was free we would for example expect high degree of information compared to a government controlled media . Hence this becomes a problem for the opposition. The Judiciary has a function of enforcing the law and making sure the rule of law is observed. The Zambia Reports (accessed on 9.12.13) states UPND chairperson for Tourism and Culture Ephraim Belemus said Acting Chief Justice Chibesakunda was compromised and her continued stay at the helm of the Judiciary had proved costly to the justice system of the country . From this quotation we can tell that in Zambia the opposition political parties have been shut from making meaningful contribution to the nation. This absence of effective participation in the political process is a very serious limitation that Zambian opposition parties face. The executive is in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Actively Meandering Rivers Tabata et al. (2003) used hydraulic geometry to describe morphodynamics of anastomosing Columbia river. Jain and Sinha (2004) discussed about causative factors and mechanism of fluvial dynamics of anabranching Baghmati river system. In their study they have observed that anabranching phenomena of Baghmati river only occurs along middle river course. The authors suggested that inability to transport high sediment load due to gentle channel slope and dominance of aggradation processes are responsible for anabranching of Baghmati river. Luchi et al. (2007) investigated small alpine river to monitor morphodynamics of channel. Their study reveals that the longitudinal variations in grain size and slope largely determine the braiding intensity of channel thus it signifluences in channel morphodynamics. Schimitt et al. (2007) analysed morphodynamics typology of upper Rhine river basin based on multivariate statistical analysis. Hooke and Yorke, (2010) asserted that the channel morphological changes are not only associated with the spatio temporal variations in discharge and channel processes but it largely follows the episodic autogenic feedback mechanism. Sinha and Ghosh, (2012) studied dynamics of river channel in eastern Ganga plain. Their study indicates that tectonic tilting, sedimentological readjustments are main causative factors of channel dynamics in the eastern Ganga plain. The next whistle is called, gun is blown, and I shoot out of the blocks. Taking the first turn competing for the top spot, running my hardest. First hundred down, three to go. Getting up in the second place spot. Behind first place now by only a few steps as we hit the final hundred, I get closer and closer to her. Neck and neck, finally passing her and finishing with compassion and greatness. Having good sportsmanship walking over to the other girls and telling them good race. One event down, two to go. I have my relay team ready, we walk to all our spots, lay our marks down and the race will be starting soon. I m on the other side of the track, in position, ready to go. Gun goes off and only some seconds later the first handoff is made. It comes to my hand off, I go when my teammate hits the tape mark. I receive the baton and take off to the final hand off. I hit the mark, and she goes. Both of us in the zone, I say stick , and her hand shoots back. She grips the baton and rips it from my hand. She goes the last stretch of the race and finishes. After 11 years their sales have grown to contributing 20%(£7 billion) of the total turnover has been from overseas sales. This became evident during the rereads of a close reading lesson. The lesson consisted of two different passages pertaining to the topic of hurricanes. However, the lesson was revised by day two to include the second passage. This decision was based on one of the factors of text complexity involving text structure. Students were able to compare and contrast the passages, determine the point of views, and synthesize information involving a hurricane survivor. Choosing a complex text became the most difficult part of the lesson being my first lesson on the topic. I followed the International Reading Association (IRA) and National Council for Teachers of English (NCTE) (2014d) guide for choosing complex text, which stated text, is complex if it is higher than the students independent reading level and if the text ... My group did exactly that as one student preferred to highlight key details and make notes in the margins. Another student took her time during silent reading always referring back to the questions. One way to improve future lessons dealing with metacognitive skills is to display strategies and ability identifiers as a reminder to apply during any literacy lesson. • 10. Musical Critique One way I became more involved in university life by going to Oklahoma!. Not the state, but rather the musical put on by the university. My suitemate Anna auditioned to be a part of it, and when she got the part, she invited us all to watch opening night on November 13th. I had been to a few musicals near my hometown, but they were rather lackluster and not very well produced. This left a sour taste in my mouth when it came to amateur theatre performances, so I hesitated in buying tickets for Oklahoma!. When I talked to my teaching assistant, she persuaded me to give it a try because I might have a very different experience. I am glad that I went, because the performance was a very vibrant show that meshed the excitement of college students with the pioneer lifestyle of the great plains. The musical was very lively, portraying life in the territory of Oklahoma, and focuses on several young couples attending the local formal. Laurey is invited by Curley to a dance, but she decides to go with the farmhand Jud instead to make Curley jealous. • 11. The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Analysis World war II in Germany was a dull time for the Jews, hence they were discriminated against by the germans. Ethnicity plays a big role in this movie because it is the reason that the Jews are locked away in the concentration camps. The movie is a representation of Political Power becomes Personal Authority (Nichols, 2010, P.275) in the sense that Aldorf Hitler took advantage of the vulnerable Jews. This essay will discuss the differences between the Jews and Germans during WW II through race and ethnicity. This will be supported from examples in the two scenes chosen, book vocabulary, as well as the formal and social content to analyze the scenes. The movie The boy in the Striped Pajamas: is about an 8 year old, privileged German boy named Bruno, who loves exploring, is forced to move away from Berlin with his family to the Countryside during World War II. This is because, his father has just gotten promoted to Commandment by Hitler himself and was asked to live closer to the concentration camps. Bruno starts exploring the new area, and soon finds this barbed wired area where he meets a Jewish boy named Shmuel. Shmuel is held in the concentration camps, however Bruno does not find out the truth until the near end of the movie. Bruno and Shmuel form an undesirable bond that later in the movie causes many tragical events. Throughout the two scenes I have chosen to discuss, there are some similarities. Chretien de Troyes writes Lancelot in The Knight of the Cart to be deeply in love, so much so that he constantly sacrifices his reputation for the queen. Classically, the romantic hero developed from an extravagant to an ideal character (Williams 275) in typical Romance literature. Although Romance literature has many variations, Lancelot portrays this transition from the extravagant, noble, knight to an ideal character in the tale. Lancelot depicts what is ideal for what a woman would want, and this in turn does ennoble him. Lancelot is ennobled by courtly love, but unintentionally. By placing himself above ... He certainly should want to be killed, for he s better off dead than living. Henceforth his life is shamed, scorned, and wretched (de Troyes214). The girl then feels bad because she mocked him, and gives him horses and equipment with extra care to go find the queen. Lancelot was never worried about the embarrassment, but rather his love. The embarrassment, however, led him to both information and equipment to go after her. When he is offered more information, it s love that makes him strong and bold and he literally offers to do anything (de Troyes 215). Without the girl s compassion he wouldn t have had the armor or information to save the queen, which would have made him devastated and humiliated without any chance at redemption. His cart incident is repealed by his ability to save the queen. Lancelot also reinforces his ability to overcome the petty gossip that emerges from his time in the cart. Since Clay was also running for president that year he believed that Jackson had chosen the unpopular side and that a congressional endorsement of the Bank would embarrass or even discredit the president (Brands 260). Jackson portrayed Biddle as an enemy of the people and made it his personal mission to destroy the Bank personifying it as a monster corporation . In the North they favored the Bank because they had strong banking institutions due to industrial economy. Meanwhile, the South did not have much need for the Bank because they were mainly an agricultural economy which meant large amounts of cash were uncommon. In the West, the land was mostly new territory with economies not as developed; therefore they wanted paper money because getting a loan was easier. However altogether, Jackson s first move was to veto the Bank bill; he viewed this as his mandate for reelection. In the end, Old Hickory s popularity won the election and he bulldozed right through Henry Clay locking onto his next target, Biddle s bank. Even with four years left on the Bank s charter, Jackson could not wait four years for it to expire. • 14. Comparing Poems Death And Be Not Proud Poems about Death, Be Not Proud by John Donne, Because I could not stop for Death and I heard a Fly buzz when I died by Emily Dickinson all have one theme in common: death. Typically, death is associated with negative connotations, but Death, Be Not Proud is a more cheerful tale of how death lost its sting. Because I could not stop for Death also has a similar theme because. Like the other two poems, I heard a Fly buzz when I died talks about an interruption of a person s death by a fly. Death. Be Not Proud, Because I could not stop for Death, and I heard a Fly buzz when I died are all poems revolving around the theme of death. Death, Be Not Proud has an unusual theme compared to other poems about death. This poem talks about God rendering death s power useless. It speaks about death positively, instead of a gateway to Hell, it is instead a path to Heaven. At the beginning, it seems this poem is a letter taunting death, saying that one day, death will be no more. It compares death to sleep, saying that eventually, people will awaken for eternity. A Report On Pneumonia Vaccine Pneumonia Vaccine Policies in Kenya Tram Nguyen Arizona State University Pneumonia Vaccine Policies in Kenya Pneumonia is a form of acute respiratory infection which is caused by a bacterium called Streptococcus pneumoniae. Pneumonia is transmitted via air borne droplets from coughing and sneezing, and it may also spread through blood. In 2015, pneumonia killed 15 percent of all deaths in children under the age of five, becoming the leading cause of death in children all over the world (World Health Organization [WHO], 2015a). Many efforts were made to reduce the prevalence of pneumonia, including the free vaccination program in 2011 against pneumonia in Kenya, which is supported by WHO and GAVI Alliance (WHO, 2015b). However, in 2012, Kenya was still ranked among the 15 countries with the highest number of deaths caused by pneumonia, suggesting problems with the current policies (Onyango, Kikuvi, Amukoye, Omolo, 2012). This paper will evaluate these existing policies and discuss potential solutions to overcome the epidemic of pneumonia in Kenya. Weakness #2 No Particular Agent The second organizational weakness is the lack of personalized service. It s impossible to give personal attention to as many members as USAA has like it is for a smaller community bank and insurance provider. Since the organization is so large, it is easy to feel lost in the mix and just another number. Smaller community banks and insurance providers have the benefit of getting to know their clients personally, may be better able to serve their specific concerns and clients tend to be more comfortable doing business with someone from their own community with whom they deal with consistently. Also, it can be frustrating that you are unable to speak to the same representative twice when calling a large business such as USAA. USAA can minimize this weakness by creating teams of representatives for their members. Each member can be assigned to a team of 5 7 USAA representatives, one of which will be answering that members concern. Teams would be comprised of representatives from each specialty (IRA planning, mortgage help, banking etc.) and be available only to their customers. This strategy would provide comfort to the members who like to deal with the same individuals when doing business. Instead, the presumed opponent is Mother Nature. Professor Marvin D. Troutt, who wrote the classic work on game theoretical approaches to life insurance purchasing, explains how the potential consumer is at odds with nature: there is the option of delaying the purchase for a number of years in the future at the risk that Nature, or chance, will intervene and allow death (or insurability) to occur before insurance begins (Troutt, 1988). Using Troutt s model in a normal form matrix below, the buyer has two possible strategies (Insure and Not Insure) while Mother Nature has two possible strategies (Live and Die). The payoff of the game is the family s wealth at the end of the year. The payoff matrix looks like this: Mother Nature Strategy Live Die Buyer Insure 1, 0 1, 0 Not Insure 0, 0 1, 0 Figure 1 As the above table is dealing with one s life, it is safe to assume that the game is a one shot, simultaneous game for the fact that this game is only going to happen once and that the decision of each player is unknown from the other. In this scenario, the prospective buyer s best strategy (1, 0) for this game is to Insure if Mother Nature chooses Die as highlighted above. This is ideal for the buyer because this unfortunate incident will generate a payoff to benefit the family based on the face amount purchased. Two of the

Bureaucratic control hinders innovation and inhibits rapid change. For this reason bureaucratic control should be combined with clan control. Clan control According to Bartol et al clan control uses values, beliefs, traditions, corporate culture, shared norms and informal relationships to regulate employee behavior and facilitate reaching of company goals. Clan control builds commitment to organizational objectives by making employees willing to face change. This replaces bureaucratic control s emphasis on rules and regulation. For this reason clan control is needed with firms such as this with routine jobs. So in future changes can be made such carrying different stock or more flexible duties for everyone.
