Essay on Symbollism in Goodman Brown
Symbollism in Goodman Brown The Symbolism in Nathan Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown
begins before the story starts. The first sign of symbolism is in the title of the story. The word young is
used in saying that Mr. Brown is young in his marriage and in his maturity. The next word Goodman
was a term used in Hawthorne s day as a man under a gentleman. This fits Mr. Brown because he is no
one special, only to his friends and family.
Symbolism is strewn throughout the story in what seems like every word. In the beginning of the
story, the phrase Faith, as the wife was so aptly named shows that the word Faith is not only his wife s
name, rather it is also the Faith one must have to believe in religion. Mr. Brown s ... Show more

When he meets the devil, He is told that he is late. As if they were supposed to meet. This could be
related to people having there certain time to meet Death as it were. Mr. Brown does not question
there meeting, rather he says that Faith held him back. Faith is used again as a symbol. The first being
that his wife Faith held him back. The other being that faith in God held him back from going to the
Devil.
As Mr. Brown goes deeper in the forest with the Devil, he notices his staff which resembles a serpent.
This is obviously a literary allegory to the story of Adam and Eve in the bible in which a serpent, the
most slyest and keen of all animals, convinces Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge. This seems like
a symbol where later on in the story, When Mr. Brown is deeper in the forest, he learns things about
the people in the town that he never knew, nor did he want to know.
As Mr. Brown goes farther into the forest with the Devil, the Devil begins to use people that Mr.
Brown knows to break him. First by saying that he was with his father while burning witches in earlier
years, also by showing him Goody Close in the forest picking up the staff that the Devil throws down
at her feet without any argument. Seeing this breaks him but he still is strong. Finally he hears the
voices of Deacon Gookin and the minister. They are talking about going to a meeting deep within the
forest. Mr. Brown knows nothing of any church

How Did Shakespeare Use Astrology During The Renaissance
Most of what s been said about shakespeare s use of Astrology was so simplistic that it s irrelevant.
Mainly because the people reading his work don t know enough about it while they are reading it.
Astrology during the Renaissance was based on the complex system of numbers, the Part of Fortune,
and harmony of spheres. Professional astrologers that hear him not only catch his references to the
stars, planets, and signs, but also the pervasive and underlying worldview that astrology is the central
study of the universe. During the renaissance, ordinary folks tended to use terms like the stars to mean
luck or fortune and the names of the planets for some quality that was specific to that planet, as Mars
to anger or Venus to love.

Compare And Contrast Arm Wrestling With My Father And...
In their recent work, Brad Manning and Sarah Vowell have written about more than one way to have a
close, but different relationship with their fathers. There is has always been a belief that to get along
with someone you would have normal conversations, enjoy each other s company, or share a common
interest. In the story they love their father as any other child would, but their ways of communication
are not the same and are different from a common father child relationship. Both authors use rhetorical
devices as a framework for differentiating their relationships with their fathers by characterizing them.
In both stories Arm Wrestling with My Father, and Shooting Dad, the authors use different rhetorical
strategies that allow them to exemplify their actual feelings of how they relate to their father s. They
also employ similar rhetorical devices yet are used differently. Ours had always been a physical
relationship, I suppose, one determined by athleticism and strength. Manning emphasizes how his
relationship with his father is very physical and nonverbal. Manning describes the differences in
perception of his father s arms, symbolizing the change in their relationship that was about to take
place. Whereas when Vowell states, if you were passing by the house where I grew up during my
teenage years and it happened to be before Election Day, you wouldn t have needed to come inside to
see that it was house divided, Vowell looks back on her childhood to explain that

Factors That Newly Relegated Burnley Football Club Faces...
Abstract
In this report I will discuss the difficulties that newly relegated Burnley football club faces when
implementing budgetary strategies. I aim to illustrate how financial planning and more specifically
Zero Based budgeting can enhance a clubs management of finances and create financial stability.
Equally, I will try and present how variance analysis can be used to measure the success of budgetary
projections within organisations and more specifically within the sports industry.
2. Introduction
The relegation of a football club has the potential to cause financial instability. Clubs such as Leeds
United and Portsmouth, due to inadequate budgeting have found themselves languishing as low as
league 2 having found it difficult to budget effectively and then push for promotion. However, through
sustainable and appropriate budgeting clubs can gain a more accurate picture of their financial health
and bridge what in (Emery and Weed s 2006) opinion is a growing divide in the way football is
financed . Budgeting itself does not only encourage a more safe and responsible way of spending
money, it also can encourage more cohesive and productive relationships between the many different
facets which make up an organisation. However one may argue that a newly relegated football club
would be best served with a zero based budget as it enables a high level of critique when dealing with
budgetary requests from managers.

Diagnostic Overlaps
Week 6 DB Coding 1 Distinguish the difference between therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, as
they can overlap. According to our text the following defines both types of procedures. Diagnostic
procedure: a procedure performed to obtain information needed to make a diagnosis and treatment
plan. Therapeutic procedure: a procedure performed to treat a disease or condition. Mammograms and
colonoscopies are examples of diagnostic procedures. However, a colonoscopy can be a procedure
that overlaps and provides a therapeutic service. In the case of a diagnostic colonoscopy where polyps
are discovered and removed at the same time, the code would need to reflect that the therapeutic
service was performed. You would NOT code the diagnostic colonoscopy. ... Show more content on

Physicians routinely order a panel of lab tests for their patients however, that does not mean that all
the tests meet the requirement for medical necessity. This can be an expensive problem for patients
that are on Medicare and Medicaid. Physicians must provide patients with the ABN if they suspect
that these tests will not be covered. Labs can offer discounts to physicians through panel pricing
however by ordering a panel it might be that the patient will have to pick up the tab. For example, the
General Health Panel is not covered by Medicare and some other insurance carriers. One lab in
Washington State clearly stated on their site that it would be more appropriate for physicians to order
the tests individually and document the medical necessity of the test with the appropriate ICD 10
diagnostic code. Custom profiles are panels that are often ordered by certain providers to treat and
manage their patient. However, the Washington lab discouraged this practice but suggested that the
provider meet with their marketing representative who has underwent compliance training. If it the
diagnosis supports the medical necessity the marketing representative can assist the provider in
creating a custom

Dysphagia
The fluoroscopy and the upper gastrointestinal endoscopy are different, but remarkable diagnostic
methods used for the people suffering from dysphagia. Dysphagia is a medical term that means
difficulty swallowing due to abnormal contractions of the esophageal muscles. It is important to find a
quick evaluation that will lead to a better diagnosis and recovery with lesser complications. This
research paper will discuss the appropriate diagnostic method by comparing between the fluoroscopic
unit, and the UGI endoscopy. Data will be collected from King Abdul Aziz University hospital, the
sample will be a large diverse patients with dysphagia as the main complaint.

Images were obtained for the oropharynx, the whole length of the esophagus including the proximal
and distal ends, and the gastroesophageal junction ( GEJ ) for any present pathology, with single and
double contrast studies for mucosal relief. The images were taken while the patients were in the supine
position. For upper GI endoscopy, a complete preparation was done for the patients including nothing
per oral ( NPO ) for at least four hours before the start of the examination, under local anesthesia. The
complications and risks of the procedure were also explained to the patients prior the exam. The
patients were positioned on their left side, and to prevent them from biting on the endoscope, a mouth
guard was placed between the teeth. The endoscope was moved over the tongue into the oropharynx
under vision, the endoscope was guided into the esophagus with fast and gentle manipulation, noting
any pathology while the endoscope was gradually advanced down the esophagus. If necessary, a
biopsy was taken immediately. The result of the study was ten of the patients ( 83.34% ) were
diagnosed with videofluoroscopy, and five patients ( 41% ) were diagnosed with upper GI endoscopy,
however; eight of the examined patients, no problems were found on both videofluoroscopy, or upper
GI endoscopy. The results showed That in comparison with the upper GI endoscopy, videofluoroscopy
can accurately diagnose a large number of positive causes of dysphagia. Also, videofluoroscopy was
readily done, and it did not require a previous work up of the

The Second Seminole War
The events leading up to the Second Seminole War remain some of the most perverse and contentious
proceedings to have occurred in American history. Between 1819, the ending of the First Seminole
War, and 1835, the beginning of the Second, the United States government did everything within its
power to not only remove the Natives Americans from its borders, but did so through seditious and
deceptive legislature. It was during this time that the expansion of the power of the president and a
complete disregard for foreign affairs characterized the union and their willingness to use extralegal
means to achieve their desired goals. This era remains one of the saddest affairs in American history,
and provides insight into how the executive branch was able to attain new power during the era of
Jackson.
In order to understand the significance of the events preceding the Second Seminole War, one must
first examine the First Seminole War. Frustrated with Seminole protection of runaway slaves, Andrew
Jackson and more than three thousand men entered northern Florida in 1816 and began to decimate
Seminole populations. Despite most of these campaigns being unsanctioned by the United States
government and protested by the British and the Spanish, Jackson was received as a war hero
throughout the nation and protected from punitive measures. The refusal of the government to punish
Jackson for the injustices led to foreign hostilities with both Britain and Spain. The Adam Onis Treaty

Social Cognitive Theory, And Social Cognitive Theory
Social cognitive theory, also known as social learning theory, a theory of learning that focuses on
changes in behaviour that result from observing others (Bandura 2001 as cited in Eggen,Kauchak,
2013). According to Simons(1994, p.43) Social learning Theory is the view of psychologists who
emphasize that behaviour is learned through experiences with the environment and that cognitive
factors influence learning. Albert Bandura is the theorist behind this psychological theory. According
to a survey conducted in 2002, Bandura was ranked as the third most frequently cited psychologist of
all time (Eggen,Kauchak, 2010). Social Cognitive Theory emphasizes the roles of beliefs, self
perceptions, and learner expectations (Eggen,Kauchak.2010). According to social cognitive theorists
learning is viewed as a change in a person s mental processes that stimulates the capacity to
demonstrate different behaviours (Hill, 2002 as cited in Eggen,Kauchak, 2010).
Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) continues to emphasize that learning occurs in a social context and
that much of what is learned is gained through observation. SCT has been applied broadly to such

(Eggen, Kauchak, 2013). A closely related assumption within the SCT is that people have an agency
or ability to influence their own behavior and the environment in a purposeful, goal directed fashion
(Bandura, 2001). In other words, it can be said that those influences take place in a two directional and
reciprocal fashion. Bandura created the Triadic reciprocal causation model which can be used to
explain how learning results from the interactions among three factors: (1) personal and cognitive
factors, (2) behavioural patterns and (3) social environment. Example of personal factors are self
control and

Introduction
A widely misunderstood concept of human security is the existence of child soldiers. Child soldiers
are what the United Nations and other international organizations refer to as any person below 18
years of age who is associated with an armed force or armed group. They have been recruited or used
by an armed force or group in any capacity, including but not limited to being employed as fighters,
cooks, porters, messengers, spies or for sexual purposes. It does not only refer to a child who is taking
or has taken a direct part in hostilities.

Effective reward management is critical to organisational performance
Being rewarded and recognised for their work or contribution is what keeps an employee motivated to
work towards achieving the organisational as well as personal goals. When the employees is
motivated by rewards, they will have job satisfaction consequently increasing the productivity of the
organisation. It necessitates the need of managers to pay more attention in understanding their
employees and come up with suitable types of reward systems for the organisation so that the
employees are intrinsically and extrinsically motivated all the time. The hypotheses that I put forward

Forrest (as cited in Donovan, 2008) says that before putting any motivation programme together, an
employer should profile the target audience in terms of age, gender interests and should also ensure
that the rewards it offers will appeal to any individual.
As cited in Zhou, Zhang Montoro Sa ́nchez (2011) reward management is a key function in HRM
systems in modern enterprises, playing an important role in attracting, retaining and motivating
employees (Milkovich and Newman, 2004). Furthermore, Schuler and Jackson (as cited in Esteves
Caetano, 2010) state that the focal point of success of companies today is centered on the effective use
of human resources.
In today s knowledge based economy, innovation has become the principal source of competitive
advantages in global business; the success of firms now depends more on their intelligence capability
such as employee creativity than traditional material assets (Amabile et al., as cited in Zhou, Zhang
Montoro Sa ́nchez, 2011). The creative capability of individual and collective knowledge workers is
the fuel that powers innovation in firms. While creativity leads to the production of new and useful
ideas in any domain, innovation is the successful implementation of those creative ideas within an
organisation (McLean, as cited in Zhou, Zhang Montoro Sa ́nchez 2011). In highly dynamic business
environments innovation and creativity have become crucial for creating competitive advantages for

Judicial Overhaul
If the opportunity to implement a new judicial body were to arise, there would be a great deal of
components required to formulate a new judicial body. Drawing from different states in America, a
conglomerate of components would be called into service to draft this new body. The states in
question that will be used in this reformat will be the states of, Florida, Texas, and Illinois. These
states contain a simplified and durable judicial hierarchy. Successful implementation of these ideals
are very likely if they were to occur.

National ID, a bad idea....
In today s world, we can say that the main danger to privacy, security for people who lives in free
democratic societies can come from the system that will create and apply supposedly very high tech

The main purpose of National ID card system in a country is to develop nationwide security, decrease
crime rate, reveal the terrorists, and guard against illegal immigrants. NID system has been used
conducting regular official transactions between government agencies and citizens, with benefits

Then, where is the privacy?
A national ID card would as a practical matter collect a person s records from a number of databases
in computers, which have been intentionally kept separate over the years as a privacy measure into
one large file available to all. And such collection of data practically invites abuse from every level of
governmental offices. It will be easy for the criminal hackers to steal someone else s data, once this
system operates. Unauthorized sale of personal data will be normal in practice once these database are
linked.
If the card is used to check the information against a central database, then the security of this
database will become crucial. For a person, the database should be accessible nationwide in order to
support security checkpoints all over the country. Therefore it will have to be on some networking
system. The security necessary to prevent people from breaking into such a responsive networking
system would be almost impossible to achieve in real life. For this reason, the national ID card system
creates security risks. That would otherwise not exit.
The ID card would be used not just by the government and the security agents, but also by the
employers, schools, hospitals, banks, hotels, etc as their primary ID cards. Virtually,

The mining industry in developing nations often lacks the enforcement of ethical principles, laws and
regulations. I therefore believe developing nations are better off without large mining companies
operating within them. Mining majors can use force to get there way and this often includes political
involvement and corruption. Mining companies often overlook the artisanal miners, that use the mine
as their lone source of income, and move them out from the mines. The impact on locals is not usually
not taken into account when a new mine is set up. Mining companies often disregard the citizenship,

As corruption is seen as a cheaper alternative to fixing the problem. I believe that developing nations
are better off without mining majors in operation within them because of the possibility for
government corruption. Developing nations are better off without mining majors because the country
is seen as a target for large revenue gains, the Global Business Standards Codex and fair treatment of
local people can often be disregarded at the expense of profits. Artisanal miners live in or around
mines and generally do all of their work by hand, including the extraction of ore, to make a living. As
these people live on the mine, if a company wants to buy the mine then they have to move the whole
town elsewhere. In accordance with the fairness principle, which has always been involved with
ethical thought (Paine et al. 2005), the mining company should provide housing for the artisanal
miners. However, by doing this, the company is taking the miners away from their source of money
and livelihood, which creates an imbalance. An example of this is the Canadian mining company in
Essakane, Burkina Faso (Siegel 2013). As global mining companies seek new avenues of revenue they
are increasingly turning to the developing world. In developing countries mining is used by locals as a
source of income when farms fail, which is becoming increasingly common with global warming. The

Factors Influencing Organisational Structure Essay
Introduction
The influence of factors on organizational structure and their impact on the organization has been in
focus by researchers since many years. This paper reviews the literature and analyses the factors that
influence the structure and design of organizations. Organizational structures are mainly grouped as
functional and divisional structures on the basis of functions or jobs. The most important and powerful
tool for enhancing performance in an organization is the organizational design although there is no
perfect or unique design. Organizational change occurs when a company makes a shift from its present
state to a desired state, which is necessary in today s competitive environment.

The factors that contribute to development of an organization include its size, technology human
resources, production program and environmental requirements. The role of political environment is
also stressed. For effective and also efficient utilization of resources, designing an ideal organizational

of decision making, customer interaction, value of innovation and marketing considerations. They can
be grouped into two factors: internal that was from environment under the firm s control and external,
that were not under the control of the firm. Today, companies require undergoing changes almost
constantly to remain competitive. Globalization of markets and rapidly growing technology force
organizations to respond in order to survive. The ultimate competitive organizational structure should

Summary Of The Art Of War By Sun Tzu
The Causes of Understanding what is Not Said
In, The Art of War by Sun Tzu, several chapters of war strategy are problematized and conceptualized
for producing the best possible outcome for ones relative side. In chapter 9 entitled Marches, the main
message that comes across is interpreting signs from the things that are happening around you in order
to prepare yourself on how to act next. One of these actions includes interpreting signs from nature so
you can access information about your enemy without even seeing them. Additionally thought over is
the ability to read and analyze body language of your opposing team to understand their current status
so you can prepare your own side. Finally, the ability to understand human mentality of your own side
in order to get the best results from your own troop is discussed. Thus, by understanding these effects
to actions, how nature reacts to human contact, how soldiers react to being weakened, and how your
team reacts to upper rule, as a result one is more equip to fight a successful battle and be prepared for
anything, even if they can or cannot see it, for understanding effects causes on to gain the upper hand
in battle.
One of the key factors discussed in chapter 9 is the ability to read the signs of nature in order to
understand where your enemy is and as a result be able to adapt and prepare yourself for where they
are coming from, thus leading to a successful attack. Nature itself is a broad concept but in essence it

A Split Between People During The World
Division within Pacific Rim During times of crisis, there is still a division. This division is the idea of
a split between people during an apocalypse. This idea is known as Marxism. Marxism is the analysis
between the working class, which is the majority of the population, and the rich class, which is the
minority of the population. Marxism is used to analyze history through social and economical views to
better understand about the differences in the world. A prime example of Marxism is the movie Pacific
Rim. Pacific Rim is a monster story that shows humanity pitting against monsters known as Kaijus.
Humans of this movie united together to make Jaegers in order to get rid of the Kaijus. Fighting these
monsters is shown as an apocalypse, however during these times, we can still see a split between
people. Through the lens of Marxism, Pacific Rim portrays it through the social hierarchy and lifestyle
of people within the community during an apocalypse. The working class which is the majority of the
population must work to make a living. Without work, they will not be able to stay alive during the
apocalypse. Throughout Pacific Rim, workers must work hard in order to stay alive. At the beginning
of the movie, Raleigh was a pilot for the Jaeger (Pacific Rim). After tragic events, Raleigh was forced
to quit being a pilot and went to work for building the wall (Pacific Rim). Yeah a man in my

For my person report, I have researched Anne Sexton. Anne Sexton was born November 9,1928. She
grew up in Newton, Massachusetts all her life. Her mother s name was Mary G. Staples and her father

The Collapse Of North Korean State Essay
Assess the possibility of the collapse of the North Korean state in the next 5 7 years by examining the
influence and impact of relevant geopolitical factors/conditions.
As one of the most antagonizing countries, North Korea seems to find the wrath of the United Nations
more frequently than any other sovereign nation. The country s human rights abuses and violations of
international law have led the international community to impose heavy trade sanctions with North
Korea (cite). While the country attempts to be largely self sufficient, malnutrition is a growing
problem for the people of North Korea (worldhunger). Based on its geographic location and violation
of international law in regards to nuclear capabilities and human rights abuses, North Korea is in a
perilous situation in the next seven years. Its increasing globalization and fervent nationalism suggest,
however, that while the country may evolve and become more globalized, it will survive as the
contentious nation state it is today. The physical geography of North Korea does little to stabilize the 5
to 7 year outlook for the country. Despite being bordered by two amicable countries to the North,
China and Russia, North Korea s southern border makes its physical geography a potentially
destabilizing factor. The Northern border is largely shared with China, stretching along the Yalu River
(Yu). This border is where the majority of imports come into North Korea, as China is North Korea s
largest trading partner

Example Of Social Pedagogy
Social Pedagogy
Social pedagogy offers a holistic way of working with children and their families in ways that support
their well being, learning and growth. At the heart of social pedagogy lies a belief that each person
deserves to be treated with dignity and has potential.
In early year s settings, this requires meaningful and authentic relationships that enable practitioners to
recognise a child s potential, their qualities, strengths and interests, and to create learning situations in
which children can experience their resourcefulness and develop new abilities.
To help children develop, practitioners will carry out adult led activities with pedagogical strategies to
ensure that children receive the best learning experience and to ... Show more content on

Relationships with others help children to define their self concept, self esteem, and ability to express
feelings. Social development is the ability to get along with others in a group. Interacting with others
allows children to begin to develop a sense of fairness and understand abstract concepts like sharing
with others.
Physical Development
Physical Development is the process of how children master control and coordination of their body.
There are two areas of physical development: gross motor (sometimes called large muscle) and fine
motor (sometimes called small muscle).
Gross motor activities involve movement of the entire body or larger parts of the body. Examples
include creeping, crawling, rolling, running, jumping, and dancing.
Fine motor activities involve movement of smaller parts of the body, like hands and feet. Examples
include grasping reaching, holding, banging, spinning, clapping, and hand eye coordination.
The Zone of Proximal Development
The zone of proximal development, often abbreviated as ZPD, is the difference between what a
learner can do without help and what he or she cannot do. The concept was introduced, but not fully
developed, by psychologist Lev Vygotsky (1896 1934)

The Amateur Ethos In Late 19th Century England
The ideology of the Amateur Ethos in late 19th century England was considered among scholars as
games for games sake, personal satisfaction and not for material gain (Baker 2004). This concept was
the catalyst for segregating the amateur player from the professional tradesman, as a result of the fear
of unfair competition ultimately brought about by men who made a career out of their game (Allison
1980). This is quite different to today s amateurism concept where the significance of intrinsic
motivation has devalued due to the increased importance of extrinsic rewards (Frey Eitzen 1991). On
the other hand modern day amateurism in sport can be associated with the maintenance of good
health, preventing rates of obesity through community involvement and school youth programs
integrating non remunerated values into sporting initiatives (Pate 2006). This report ... Show more

It is agreed among scholars, that the objective of amateurism in the nineteenth century English society
was games for games sake, a pleasure of personal satisfaction and good spirit (Baker 2004). It is
apparent that the amateurs participated in the games with no extrinsic motivation, and no obligation to
play. They played for themselves, with no notion of financial gain (Baker 2004). The games were
competitive in a contained manner, and the amateur wouldn t take the outcome too seriously (Baker
2004). For many, the idea of amateurism included the principle of not seeking livelihood from the
athletic exercises, implying that the games were played for the sake of prestige and personal
contentment (Allison 2001) . The idea of amateurism in sport in nineteenth century England was also
a point of segregation against the working class professionals

Erikson’s End Stage of Development Essay
As human beings age, according to Erik Erikson, they go through developmental stages that help to
create and transform their personalities. If needs are met and the ego is gratified, then the individual is
able to move on to the next challenge. Onward they march in life and in stage until they find the end
level: integrity versus despair. This has been categorized as adults 65 years and older by Erikson.
Here, people are to reminisce and judge their lives in terms of merit or disappointment. Erikson
himself had a lot to comb through in his later years. Erik Erikson was born in Frankfurt, Germany just
after the turn of the twentieth century. It is known that he was a product of an affair out of wedlock.
He did not find this out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final stage, however, is a little different. One does not have a challenge to overcome so much as a
lesson to learn. The person must look back on their life and see the mistakes they have made. They
can also see the wise decisions reached and good times had. And it is at this point that most people
either see meaning or resentment in their lives. Once an adult reaches retirement, they begin to slow
down, if they have not already, and reflect upon a long life lived. They are at the mercy of many
decades worth of memories, some good and some bad. The elder will feel a sense of wellbeing if they
are satisfied with their life. This satisfaction roots itself in accomplishment. Humans usually want to
undertake many things in their lives. Some are able to attain these and others are not. Those that do
achieve their goals are filled with a sense of gratification. Arlene Handler says that Erikson calls this
integrity (The Developmental Stages of Erik Erikson, 2002 (revised 2009)). This also allows for a
quiet acceptance of death. People who accept death as inevitable do so with grace and ease. They look
at their life and see an adventure with hills and valleys, but valleys that they were able to climb out of
with might and determination. Erikson thought this to be remarkable and was amazed by elderly
people s resiliency. He found that the strength at this stage was wisdom and that all the experiences

The Writing A Great Swoosh Of Energy
Students will write numerous essays throughout their high school years, and most teachers adapt some
form of in class editing, or peer editing. Though the problem with this is that poor editors do not just
have an effect on their own writing and their own essay, but they affect others, as well. Students do not
put as much time or effort into revising as they are required to do. The rough draft is meant to be
byzantine, with the understanding that a thorough editor will comb through every sentence and
completely tear it apart. In a great swoosh of energy, [the writer] plunges into the writing, putting
down everything that occurs to him in the first of what may turn out to be 9 or 10 drafts (Epstein para.
10). Of course, it often ends up being a repetitive and extensive process; however, if it seems boring,
then the editing is not being executed correctly. Though often perceived as tedious, editing an essay is
indubitably the most enjoyable part of the writing process.
Overview
Editing an essay is fairly simple. An editor s job is to mark up the essay, piece by piece, and
ameliorate it. As a work in progress , the writing goes through stages, and the editorial stage will help
trim and sharpen the final piece (Van Patten para. 1). The first draft is expected to be messy and long,
for it is just the writer transferring ideas from his/her mind onto the paper; proofreading and revising it
will completely transform the jumble of words into a presentable work.

The Importance Of Education For A Company s Chief...
Although schooling is extremely important it is not the only thing people need in order to become a
company s chief executive. There are many skills that are helpful to have in this particular career. A
person must be organized because of all the planning they will have to be doing, have patience due to
the stressful obstacles that will surely be in the way, which ties in directly with problem solving. Also,
they would be dealing with a lot of people so speaking skills and communication is something that
they can definitely not struggle with. The abilities a chief executive must obtain are written
expression, speech clarity and recognition, written composition and deductive reasoning, and oral
comprehension (O Net). All of which will help move a person move ahead of competitive peers.
When the group discussed relocating to other states Florida and New York were our top choices. The
Bureau of Labor Statistics say that 13,970 people are currently are employed as chief executives in
Florida. For entry positions the average pay is $202,300 a year. This is very good pay however, the
growth level in the next five to ten years is barely 2.4% (Bureau of Labor Statistics). Which is not
very promising for a person with this career goal in mind. In New York, they currently employ 17,060
people as this type of executive. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also says they have a better growth
rate at 3.8%, but still not very promising for those going into this career. The pay in New York is

What Is The Theme Of Silence In The Blue Angel
The Blue Angel is a German film directed by Josef von Sternberg, from 1930. In 1929, there a clear
division in film, the division was between sound and silence. Sound was a major attraction to
audiences during the Great Depression. The Blue Angel was Germany s first complete movie with
speech. There are four types of soundtrack materials in films, such as speech, music, noise, and
silence. I am focusing on silence, which contains three subcategories, such as absolute, virtual, and
selective. The characters in The Blue Angel who are associated with silence are Professor Rath and the
clown. Silence for both characters signifies madness and sadness. Firstly, the two characters in The
Blue Angel that I associate with silence are the clown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Professor Rath does not react to the maid throwing his bird in the fire and remains silent. The silence
in that scene can be categorized as virtual because there was a room tone. Secondly, the qualities that
are associated with silence in The Blue Angel are madness and sadness. An example, of madness, is
when Professor Rath is in the strait jacket he is silent and deranged. Additionally, this scene is an
example of virtual silence because a room tone can be heard. In comparison, to the start of the film,
Professor Rath becomes mad as the film progresses, although he was silent in various parts of the film.
Furthermore, Professor Rath s foolishness led him to become mad because he failed to realize he was
throwing away his life. Throughout the five years he is married to Lola Lola he becomes more and
more silent as the years pass. Especially, in the scene where he returns to his classroom and dies this is
an example of him realizing he should have never left his position. Additionally, this scene is an
example of absolute silence because you do not hear any sound while he is slumped over on the desk
and the man attempts to wake him up. Another example of madness is when Professor Rath is aiding
the magician in front of his former colleagues. In this scene, Professor Rath is portrayed as a fool and
it is degrading because of the intelligent man he once was. The foolishness led

Price Elasticity of Demand
The Price Elasticity Coefficient and Formula: * Price elasticity of demand = consumers
responsiveness/sensitivity to a product s price change * A product is elastic if a small change in its
price elicits very large changes in the quantity demanded. * * Movement on the demand curve ex.
products that are not required in people s daily lives are often elastic products. (not necessity but
luxury) * A product is inelastic if a big price change elicits very little influence on the quantity
demanded. * Minimal movement on the demand curve * ex. products that are required in people s
daily lives are often inelastic products. (not luxury but necessity)
It is important to keep in mind that elasticity involves percentage change in price and quantity
demanded; not absolute change.
Midpoint Formula for calculating elasticity: * We use the formula in computing the price elasticity
coefficient. * Ex: A change of $4 $5 along a demand curve is a 25% increase, but the opposite price
change from $5 $4 along the same curve is a 20% decrease. Since elasticity should be the same
whether price rises or falls, the midpoint formula is needed. * This formula simply averages the two
prices and the two quantities as the reference points for computing the percentages. * Ex: the reference

Narrative Essay On Bullfrog
Nearly every kid at some point in their childhood has had a certain toy or item they would do anything

The sheer volume of information of all types is ever increasing, making the job of IT manager more
difficult. To remain competent, IT managers must keep up with the latest trends and new technologies.
The evaluation of new technology is another skill related to information literacy, since the information
describing such technology can take many forms. The best IT managers are highly skilled in such
evaluations. These effective managers seem to be rare, as found in Li (2009). That study found that to
deal with the difficulties of IT management, many organizations used encroachment, to save face for
executives by simplifying and deflecting harmful results and analysis. This spreads the managerial
blame and deals with the well documented fact (every computer science student is taught this) that
over 60% of all technology projects fail and software development projects in particular fail even
more frequently. The reasons for the failure of such projects include the incompetence of IT
management (Toader et al., 2010). This is increasingly exemplified by the inability to communicate
effectively with workers of foreign origin and incorrect evaluations of technology. The lost revenue of
software projects is a huge number and that problem is not getting better. Since dealing with cross
cultural management and the evaluation of new technology are skills learned in information literacy,

Sensory Perceptual Phenomena Is An Event A Living Organism
Sensory Perceptual Phenomena is an event a living organism experiences that involves biological,
psychological, and cognitive determinants as a response to the environment (Gorbel, Oct. 28th). In
order for the living organism to experience this phenomena, the brain and nervous system must
organize and stabilize the living organism s sensory perceptual system (Gorbel, Nov. 16th) A primary
function of the sense are biological transducers, devices that convert one kind of energy into another
(Coon Mitterer, 124). The basic process that occurs in the sensory perceptual system begins with a
physical energy from the living organism s environment. Then the phylogenetically engineered
external organ is used in order to collect the energy from the environment. Receptor cells are then
stimulated and create electro chemical reactions. Electrical impulses are encoded with information and
travel the neural net. It will then be sent to a specific structure of the brain that correlates with the
external organ. The information is decoded and the living organism becomes aware; this causes a
physical stimulus response, also known as a sensation (Gorbel, Oct, 28th).
However, there are other processes that are involved before the living organism produces a perception
from a physical sensation. Other sensory organs and systems include: the eye and visual system, ears
and auditory system, the nose and olfaction, taste buds or tongue and gustation, somesthetic sense and
warning and reminding

Analysis Of The Back Of The Turtle By Thomas King
The novel The Back of the Turtle by Thomas King is relevant to Canada in both present day and

like a calamitous prediction for the future of Canada s treasured natural world. Riddled with corporate
greed and environmental disaster, the story follows those involved and affected by the catastrophe that
destroyed Samaritan Bay. His lifelike characters are tangled with labyrinthine emotions that add
another layer of complexity to the story. In my opinion, the novel The Back of the Turtle by Thomas

How Did Culture Influence Ancient Egypt Life And Culture

October 3, 2017 The Nile greatly influenced Egyptian life and culture. It also influenced artwork as
well, for a few different reasons. The backbone of Egypt was and still is the Nile River, which through
its annual floods, supported all life in that land. Throughout history Egyptian defined cultures, and
influenced the way they had developed along its banks. Most of the crops grow with the water from
the Nile River because of the rich soil it brings to them. The beginnings of Egyptian civilization
predate writing and are consequently obscure. Art work developed along the Nile just like the crops.

about the world. It also shows their attempts to understand and relate to these beliefs. In the Egyptian
social and religious context, works of art played a practical role, whose straightforward physicality is
not easy for the modern viewer to realize. The Nile river greatly influenced Egyptian life and culture
and it was also influenced in artwork as well. The Nile River, through its annual floods, supported all
life and artwork in that ancient land. It defined these cultures to the way they have developed along its
banks. It also influenced the creation of thousands of lithographs that were made in Egypt. The tombs,
paintings, pottery, and other artifacts were also a big part of the Nile River and its influence on
Egyptian life. Art work reflected Egyptians understandings of religion and the

A Brief Look at Walmart
Wally world also known as Walmart, is a corporate retail store that has made a major impact in people
lives in the United States and even around the world. Wal Mart is a great place to shop for variety of
products in short time or just to go window shopping with a group of friends. The items are well
organized throughout the store where you can see signs of the departments within the store. Another
advantage of Walmart is its low price. Wal Mart supports slogans like We sell for less and Always on
low price . As a large retail company, they have prices that are lower than local stores in your
neighborhood and they are certain that one could save money by shopping at Walmart. Yet, Walmart
has the tendency to be crowded, especially on the weekends that can make a shopping trip longer than
it needs to be. Even with the large parking lot, it seems like full every time I visited Wal Mart.
However, when I do find a spot to park my car, a camera on a light post is already watching me before
I even walk in the store. Once I walk out my car and lock it, I can see cameras all over the parking lot
as I make my way into the store. Furthermore, I can see a security guard riding around in a patrol car
within the parking lot. As I enter Walmart, an employee welcomes me to the store while I pass through
metal detectors and officially enter the store. Cameras on every isle as I shop for groceries on a regular
shopping trip, security seems like it is everywhere in and outside

The Key Computing Trends Driving The Need For Improvement...
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION Today we are living in the era of internet where everything depends
on it. As the days and years passes, traffic on internet is increasing abundantly, users wants high speed
internet which can give the result of their aspired question within a fraction of seconds. To accomplish
the requirement of the user, the need for improvement of existing network architecture. Here comes
the role of SDN which is an emerging network architecture, our project is based on it which is
discussed in later chapters. In the introduction part we are going to check about SDN and its related
components. Software Defined Networking ( SDN ) Software Defined Networking (SDN) is an
emerging network architecture where network control is decoupled from forwarding and is directly
programmable . [1] The key computing trends driving the need for a new network paradigm include
the following: Changing traffic patterns: Applications that commonly access geographically
distributed databases and servers through public and private clouds require extremely flexible traffic
management and access to bandwidth on demand. The consumerization of IT : The Bring Your Own
Device (BYOD) trend requires networks that are both flexible and secure. The rise of cloud services:
Users expect on demand access to applications, infrastructure, and other IT resources. Big data means
more bandwidth: Handling today s mega datasets requires massive parallel processing that is fueling a
constant demand

When he stops to find out what is happening, the wolf bites him and run away. Will found out that
there are changes occur in his body and turn out into a werewolf. The other cast involved in this movie
are: Michelle Pfeiffer (Laura Alden), James Spader (Stewart Swinston), Kate Nelligan (Charlotte
Randall), Richard Jenkins (Detective Bridger), Christopher Plummer (Raymond Alden) and many
more to witness in your own. This movie is directed by Mike Nichols. It is a great movie that has a
lesson to everyone. The quality of the film is strongly aided by a strong script. The film makers should
be commended for resisting the temptation to overload the werewolf character with special effects and
take the classic make up look instead. The director of this movie should be commended for instilling
his subject matter with enough dramatic intensity to appeal to an adult demographic without forgetting
the primary intent of such a film to thrill and chill the audiences in turn. Jack Nicholson should be
applauded for taking his subject matter seriously and emerged with a perfectly tuned performance. He
channels his legendary charisma into an entirely credible character, riddled with pathos and dark
menace easily dispelling fears that his facial prosthetics might be laughable to the viewers. As for
James Spader, he did a wonderful part

The Unified Science Center At Stockton For My Project
I decided to choose the Unified Science Center at Stockton for my project because it is easily
accessible to me, it is fairly new and as a business major student, I found the building to be very
impressive. We business majors don t have a place to hang out or a quiet place to talk to people in our
major. I normally just see people in the library or in the hallway and if we have to do schoolwork we
just go to a computer lab. However, the Science and Math majors have a building full of labs and
classrooms. In my opinion I felt like Stockton was trying to one up the Arts building with another new
building. The two buildings are similar in the way they both function. The Art building is a good place
for the Art majors to get creative for their assignments and while these students are surrounded by
artwork they could feel more of an impact from the atmosphere. The Science Center is a good place to
apply what the Science students have learned in class and apply it in a laboratory.
Stockton University built this building to attract more science students. I think EYP did a great job
designing the building. If you never entered the building before, you can just look at it from the
outside and just tell that it is a building designed for Science majors. The building itself does not have
many classrooms, but instead it has a lot of laboratories with state of the art equipment.
On the inside of the building it has a piece of artwork called the wave hanging from the second floor

Plato s Idea of the Emergence of Tyranny from Democracy Essay
What are tyrants, one might ask. In the current sense of the word a tyrant is pejorative term, applied to
an individual in power who is selfish and self preserving. A tyrant is an immoral being, ruling over
those around him through force, a tax on the freedom of those he subjugates. Yet the question that one
should be asking is where do tyrants come from? Plato proposed that tyrants are a product of
democracy, that the liberty inherent to a democracy allows the self interested to manipulate the
system(generally through appealing to the population at large) causing a system with little liberty. This
paper aims to defend the claims of Plato concerning tyranny, particularly the origins of tyrants, as well
as to propose the safeguards that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plato states that the ones who are by nature most orderly generally become the wealthiest ( The
Republic Book VIII 564e). Tyrants emerge where the drones manipulate the masses into despising the
prosperous. Regardless of what someone believes causes certain individuals in a society to become
wealthy and prosperous, it very hard to deny that the prosperous class does not provoke envy on the
part of the non prosperous. This is where the large uninterested portion of a democratic population
make it possible for tyrants to emerge. Both parties (the prosperous and non prosperous alike) select
and support drones that defend their interests, as one group is busy procuring wealth, the other
uninterested in pursuing political debate. The most successful of these drone are those that defend the
interests of those they support the best, generally by victimizing members of the opposite camps and
defending their own against the victimization of others. They gain power and prestige to the point that
they can be called popular leaders.
Tyrants evolve from popular leaders because they are able to victimize and scapegoat members of
opposing camps with the support of the masses. The masses benefit from supporting their leader as
he/she continues to defend their interests, and generally the loss of the victims

Section Of 1 Corinthians 12-13 In The Harpercollins Study...
The first section of the note on 1 Corinthians 12:12 13 in the HarperCollins Study Bible leads the
reader to contemplate the issue of unity in the body of Christ, the lack of which is arguably the origin
of most, if not all of the issues facing the Corinthian church. The Christians in Corinth were
challenged with several internal problems, many of which could have been solved by the members
seeking unity in their diversity. Paul introduces the idea that the church should function as the body of
Christ, valuing the abilities and roles that God chose for each member. The first part of the note states,
Like certain other ancient writers, Paul regards the human body as illustrating the point that unity and
diversity are not incompatible, applying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Corinthians had a way of self praise and boasting over their superior actions. They would speak in
tongues and prophecy in public not to benefit others who are in attendance but, in Paul s view, simply
to elevate themselves in the eyes of others (Bart Ehrman, A Brief Introduction to the New Testament,
p. 228). In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul lists the variety of gifts that various members of the church possess,
saying that the Spirit has assigned each gift to each individual. Paul wants the Corinthians to
understand that God has given the individuals in the community distinctive roles and gifts that, when
used appropriately, better the church as a whole. To emphasize the importance of unity in the church,
Paul writes, For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body,
though many, are one body, so it is with Christ (1 Cor 12:12). Paul shows how each member of the
church has imperative value, just as each part of the body is essential for it to work properly. The
Corinthians problem of boasting would fade away as soon as they acknowledge that there is value in
the diversity of the members of the church. God placed each person in the role that He intends for
them to fill and everyone must recognize His placement. Greater than all other gifts is the gift of love.
Love is crucial because it builds up the community and strengthens every believer, regardless of their
differences. Paul stresses that the most excellent gift is love, writing If I speak in the tongues of
mortals and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have
prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to
remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing (1 Cor

  • 2. Essay on Symbollism in Goodman Brown Symbollism in Goodman Brown The Symbolism in Nathan Hawthorne s Young Goodman Brown begins before the story starts. The first sign of symbolism is in the title of the story. The word young is used in saying that Mr. Brown is young in his marriage and in his maturity. The next word Goodman was a term used in Hawthorne s day as a man under a gentleman. This fits Mr. Brown because he is no one special, only to his friends and family. Symbolism is strewn throughout the story in what seems like every word. In the beginning of the story, the phrase Faith, as the wife was so aptly named shows that the word Faith is not only his wife s name, rather it is also the Faith one must have to believe in religion. Mr. Brown s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When he meets the devil, He is told that he is late. As if they were supposed to meet. This could be related to people having there certain time to meet Death as it were. Mr. Brown does not question there meeting, rather he says that Faith held him back. Faith is used again as a symbol. The first being that his wife Faith held him back. The other being that faith in God held him back from going to the Devil. As Mr. Brown goes deeper in the forest with the Devil, he notices his staff which resembles a serpent. This is obviously a literary allegory to the story of Adam and Eve in the bible in which a serpent, the most slyest and keen of all animals, convinces Eve to eat from the tree of knowledge. This seems like a symbol where later on in the story, When Mr. Brown is deeper in the forest, he learns things about the people in the town that he never knew, nor did he want to know. As Mr. Brown goes farther into the forest with the Devil, the Devil begins to use people that Mr. Brown knows to break him. First by saying that he was with his father while burning witches in earlier years, also by showing him Goody Close in the forest picking up the staff that the Devil throws down at her feet without any argument. Seeing this breaks him but he still is strong. Finally he hears the voices of Deacon Gookin and the minister. They are talking about going to a meeting deep within the forest. • 3. How Did Shakespeare Use Astrology During The Renaissance Most of what s been said about shakespeare s use of Astrology was so simplistic that it s irrelevant. Mainly because the people reading his work don t know enough about it while they are reading it. Astrology during the Renaissance was based on the complex system of numbers, the Part of Fortune, and harmony of spheres. Professional astrologers that hear him not only catch his references to the stars, planets, and signs, but also the pervasive and underlying worldview that astrology is the central study of the universe. During the renaissance, ordinary folks tended to use terms like the stars to mean luck or fortune and the names of the planets for some quality that was specific to that planet, as Mars to anger or Venus to love. ... • 6. Compare And Contrast Arm Wrestling With My Father And... In their recent work, Brad Manning and Sarah Vowell have written about more than one way to have a close, but different relationship with their fathers. There is has always been a belief that to get along with someone you would have normal conversations, enjoy each other s company, or share a common interest. In the story they love their father as any other child would, but their ways of communication are not the same and are different from a common father child relationship. Both authors use rhetorical devices as a framework for differentiating their relationships with their fathers by characterizing them. In both stories Arm Wrestling with My Father, and Shooting Dad, the authors use different rhetorical strategies that allow them to exemplify their actual feelings of how they relate to their father s. They also employ similar rhetorical devices yet are used differently. Ours had always been a physical relationship, I suppose, one determined by athleticism and strength. Manning emphasizes how his relationship with his father is very physical and nonverbal. Manning describes the differences in perception of his father s arms, symbolizing the change in their relationship that was about to take place. Whereas when Vowell states, if you were passing by the house where I grew up during my teenage years and it happened to be before Election Day, you wouldn t have needed to come inside to see that it was house divided, Vowell looks back on her childhood to explain that ... Abstract In this report I will discuss the difficulties that newly relegated Burnley football club faces when implementing budgetary strategies. I aim to illustrate how financial planning and more specifically Zero Based budgeting can enhance a clubs management of finances and create financial stability. Equally, I will try and present how variance analysis can be used to measure the success of budgetary projections within organisations and more specifically within the sports industry. 2. Introduction The relegation of a football club has the potential to cause financial instability. Clubs such as Leeds United and Portsmouth, due to inadequate budgeting have found themselves languishing as low as league 2 having found it difficult to budget effectively and then push for promotion. However, through sustainable and appropriate budgeting clubs can gain a more accurate picture of their financial health and bridge what in (Emery and Weed s 2006) opinion is a growing divide in the way football is financed . Budgeting itself does not only encourage a more safe and responsible way of spending money, it also can encourage more cohesive and productive relationships between the many different facets which make up an organisation. However one may argue that a newly relegated football club would be best served with a zero based budget as it enables a high level of critique when dealing with budgetary requests from managers. 3. According to our text the following defines both types of procedures. Diagnostic procedure: a procedure performed to obtain information needed to make a diagnosis and treatment plan. Therapeutic procedure: a procedure performed to treat a disease or condition. Mammograms and colonoscopies are examples of diagnostic procedures. However, a colonoscopy can be a procedure that overlaps and provides a therapeutic service. In the case of a diagnostic colonoscopy where polyps are discovered and removed at the same time, the code would need to reflect that the therapeutic service was performed. Physicians routinely order a panel of lab tests for their patients however, that does not mean that all the tests meet the requirement for medical necessity. This can be an expensive problem for patients that are on Medicare and Medicaid. Physicians must provide patients with the ABN if they suspect that these tests will not be covered. Labs can offer discounts to physicians through panel pricing however by ordering a panel it might be that the patient will have to pick up the tab. For example, the General Health Panel is not covered by Medicare and some other insurance carriers. One lab in Washington State clearly stated on their site that it would be more appropriate for physicians to order the tests individually and document the medical necessity of the test with the appropriate ICD 10 diagnostic code. Custom profiles are panels that are often ordered by certain providers to treat and manage their patient. However, the Washington lab discouraged this practice but suggested that the provider meet with their marketing representative who has underwent compliance training. For upper GI endoscopy, a complete preparation was done for the patients including nothing per oral ( NPO ) for at least four hours before the start of the examination, under local anesthesia. The complications and risks of the procedure were also explained to the patients prior the exam. The patients were positioned on their left side, and to prevent them from biting on the endoscope, a mouth guard was placed between the teeth. The endoscope was moved over the tongue into the oropharynx under vision, the endoscope was guided into the esophagus with fast and gentle manipulation, noting any pathology while the endoscope was gradually advanced down the esophagus. • 10. The Second Seminole War The events leading up to the Second Seminole War remain some of the most perverse and contentious proceedings to have occurred in American history. Between 1819, the ending of the First Seminole War, and 1835, the beginning of the Second, the United States government did everything within its power to not only remove the Natives Americans from its borders, but did so through seditious and deceptive legislature. It was during this time that the expansion of the power of the president and a complete disregard for foreign affairs characterized the union and their willingness to use extralegal means to achieve their desired goals. This era remains one of the saddest affairs in American history, and provides insight into how the executive branch was able to attain new power during the era of Jackson. In order to understand the significance of the events preceding the Second Seminole War, one must first examine the First Seminole War. Frustrated with Seminole protection of runaway slaves, Andrew Jackson and more than three thousand men entered northern Florida in 1816 and began to decimate Seminole populations. Despite most of these campaigns being unsanctioned by the United States government and protested by the British and the Spanish, Jackson was received as a war hero throughout the nation and protected from punitive measures. The refusal of the government to punish Jackson for the injustices led to foreign hostilities with both Britain and Spain. The Adam Onis Treaty of 1819 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to Simons(1994, p.43) Social learning Theory is the view of psychologists who emphasize that behaviour is learned through experiences with the environment and that cognitive factors influence learning. Albert Bandura is the theorist behind this psychological theory. According to a survey conducted in 2002, Bandura was ranked as the third most frequently cited psychologist of all time (Eggen,Kauchak, 2010). Social Cognitive Theory emphasizes the roles of beliefs, self perceptions, and learner expectations (Eggen,Kauchak.2010). According to social cognitive theorists learning is viewed as a change in a person s mental processes that stimulates the capacity to demonstrate different behaviours (Hill, 2002 as cited in Eggen,Kauchak, 2010). • 23. The Collapse Of North Korean State Essay Assess the possibility of the collapse of the North Korean state in the next 5 7 years by examining the influence and impact of relevant geopolitical factors/conditions. As one of the most antagonizing countries, North Korea seems to find the wrath of the United Nations more frequently than any other sovereign nation. The country s human rights abuses and violations of international law have led the international community to impose heavy trade sanctions with North Korea (cite). While the country attempts to be largely self sufficient, malnutrition is a growing problem for the people of North Korea (worldhunger). Based on its geographic location and violation of international law in regards to nuclear capabilities and human rights abuses, North Korea is in a perilous situation in the next seven years. Its increasing globalization and fervent nationalism suggest, however, that while the country may evolve and become more globalized, it will survive as the contentious nation state it is today. The physical geography of North Korea does little to stabilize the 5 to 7 year outlook for the country. Despite being bordered by two amicable countries to the North, China and Russia, North Korea s southern border makes its physical geography a potentially destabilizing factor. The Northern border is largely shared with China, stretching along the Yalu River (Yu). This border is where the majority of imports come into North Korea, as China is North Korea s largest trading partner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the heart of social pedagogy lies a belief that each person deserves to be treated with dignity and has potential. The Amateur Ethos In Late 19th Century England The ideology of the Amateur Ethos in late 19th century England was considered among scholars as games for games sake, personal satisfaction and not for material gain (Baker 2004). This concept was the catalyst for segregating the amateur player from the professional tradesman, as a result of the fear of unfair competition ultimately brought about by men who made a career out of their game (Allison 1980). This is quite different to today s amateurism concept where the significance of intrinsic motivation has devalued due to the increased importance of extrinsic rewards (Frey Eitzen 1991). On the other hand modern day amateurism in sport can be associated with the maintenance of good health, preventing rates of obesity through community involvement and school youth programs integrating non remunerated values into sporting initiatives (Pate 2006). • 27. Erikson’s End Stage of Development Essay As human beings age, according to Erik Erikson, they go through developmental stages that help to create and transform their personalities. If needs are met and the ego is gratified, then the individual is able to move on to the next challenge. Onward they march in life and in stage until they find the end level: integrity versus despair. This has been categorized as adults 65 years and older by Erikson. Here, people are to reminisce and judge their lives in terms of merit or disappointment. Erikson himself had a lot to comb through in his later years. Erik Erikson was born in Frankfurt, Germany just after the turn of the twentieth century. It is known that he was a product of an affair out of wedlock. He did not find this out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The final stage, however, is a little different. One does not have a challenge to overcome so much as a lesson to learn. The person must look back on their life and see the mistakes they have made. They can also see the wise decisions reached and good times had. And it is at this point that most people either see meaning or resentment in their lives. Once an adult reaches retirement, they begin to slow down, if they have not already, and reflect upon a long life lived. They are at the mercy of many decades worth of memories, some good and some bad. The elder will feel a sense of wellbeing if they are satisfied with their life. This satisfaction roots itself in accomplishment. Humans usually want to undertake many things in their lives. Some are able to attain these and others are not. Those that do achieve their goals are filled with a sense of gratification. Arlene Handler says that Erikson calls this integrity (The Developmental Stages of Erik Erikson, 2002 (revised 2009)). This also allows for a quiet acceptance of death. People who accept death as inevitable do so with grace and ease. They look at their life and see an adventure with hills and valleys, but valleys that they were able to climb out of with might and determination. Erikson thought this to be remarkable and was amazed by elderly people s resiliency. He found that the strength at this stage was wisdom and that all the experiences ... • 28. The Writing A Great Swoosh Of Energy Students will write numerous essays throughout their high school years, and most teachers adapt some form of in class editing, or peer editing. Though the problem with this is that poor editors do not just have an effect on their own writing and their own essay, but they affect others, as well. Students do not put as much time or effort into revising as they are required to do. The rough draft is meant to be byzantine, with the understanding that a thorough editor will comb through every sentence and completely tear it apart. In a great swoosh of energy, [the writer] plunges into the writing, putting down everything that occurs to him in the first of what may turn out to be 9 or 10 drafts (Epstein para. 10). Of course, it often ends up being a repetitive and extensive process; however, if it seems boring, then the editing is not being executed correctly. Though often perceived as tedious, editing an essay is indubitably the most enjoyable part of the writing process. Overview Editing an essay is fairly simple. An editor s job is to mark up the essay, piece by piece, and ameliorate it. As a work in progress , the writing goes through stages, and the editorial stage will help trim and sharpen the final piece (Van Patten para. 1). The first draft is expected to be messy and long, for it is just the writer transferring ideas from his/her mind onto the paper; proofreading and revising it will completely transform the jumble of words into a presentable work. • 37. Sensory Perceptual Phenomena Is An Event A Living Organism Sensory Perceptual Phenomena is an event a living organism experiences that involves biological, psychological, and cognitive determinants as a response to the environment (Gorbel, Oct. 28th). In order for the living organism to experience this phenomena, the brain and nervous system must organize and stabilize the living organism s sensory perceptual system (Gorbel, Nov. 16th) A primary function of the sense are biological transducers, devices that convert one kind of energy into another (Coon Mitterer, 124). The basic process that occurs in the sensory perceptual system begins with a physical energy from the living organism s environment. Then the phylogenetically engineered external organ is used in order to collect the energy from the environment. Receptor cells are then stimulated and create electro chemical reactions. Electrical impulses are encoded with information and travel the neural net. It will then be sent to a specific structure of the brain that correlates with the external organ. The information is decoded and the living organism becomes aware; this causes a physical stimulus response, also known as a sensation (Gorbel, Oct, 28th). However, there are other processes that are involved before the living organism produces a perception from a physical sensation. Other sensory organs and systems include: the eye and visual system, ears and auditory system, the nose and olfaction, taste buds or tongue and gustation, somesthetic sense and warning and reminding ... Although Egyptian art was originally created for religious and magical purposes, it also symbolizes and functions to reveal the Egyptian s beliefs about the world. It also shows their attempts to understand and relate to these beliefs. In the Egyptian social and religious context, works of art played a practical role, whose straightforward physicality is not easy for the modern viewer to realize. The Nile river greatly influenced Egyptian life and culture and it was also influenced in artwork as well. The Nile River, through its annual floods, supported all life and artwork in that ancient land. It defined these cultures to the way they have developed along its banks. It also influenced the creation of thousands of lithographs that were made in Egypt. The tombs, paintings, pottery, and other artifacts were also a big part of the Nile River and its influence on Egyptian life. Art work reflected Egyptians understandings of religion and the ... Wal Mart is a great place to shop for variety of products in short time or just to go window shopping with a group of friends. The items are well organized throughout the store where you can see signs of the departments within the store. Another advantage of Walmart is its low price. Wal Mart supports slogans like We sell for less and Always on low price . As a large retail company, they have prices that are lower than local stores in your neighborhood and they are certain that one could save money by shopping at Walmart. Yet, Walmart has the tendency to be crowded, especially on the weekends that can make a shopping trip longer than it needs to be. Even with the large parking lot, it seems like full every time I visited Wal Mart. However, when I do find a spot to park my car, a camera on a light post is already watching me before I even walk in the store. Once I walk out my car and lock it, I can see cameras all over the parking lot as I make my way into the store. Furthermore, I can see a security guard riding around in a patrol car within the parking lot. As I enter Walmart, an employee welcomes me to the store while I pass through metal detectors and officially enter the store. Cameras on every isle as I shop for groceries on a regular shopping trip, security seems like it is everywhere in and outside ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the days and years passes, traffic on internet is increasing abundantly, users wants high speed internet which can give the result of their aspired question within a fraction of seconds. To accomplish the requirement of the user, the need for improvement of existing network architecture. Here comes the role of SDN which is an emerging network architecture, our project is based on it which is discussed in later chapters. In the introduction part we are going to check about SDN and its related components. Software Defined Networking ( SDN ) Software Defined Networking (SDN) is an emerging network architecture where network control is decoupled from forwarding and is directly programmable . [1] The key computing trends driving the need for a new network paradigm include the following: Changing traffic patterns: Applications that commonly access geographically distributed databases and servers through public and private clouds require extremely flexible traffic management and access to bandwidth on demand. The consumerization of IT : The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend requires networks that are both flexible and secure. The rise of cloud services: Users expect on demand access to applications, infrastructure, and other IT resources. Big data means more bandwidth: Handling today s mega datasets requires massive parallel processing that is fueling a constant demand ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. The Unified Science Center At Stockton For My Project I decided to choose the Unified Science Center at Stockton for my project because it is easily accessible to me, it is fairly new and as a business major student, I found the building to be very impressive. We business majors don t have a place to hang out or a quiet place to talk to people in our major. I normally just see people in the library or in the hallway and if we have to do schoolwork we just go to a computer lab. However, the Science and Math majors have a building full of labs and classrooms. In my opinion I felt like Stockton was trying to one up the Arts building with another new building. The two buildings are similar in the way they both function. The Art building is a good place for the Art majors to get creative for their assignments and while these students are surrounded by artwork they could feel more of an impact from the atmosphere. The Science Center is a good place to apply what the Science students have learned in class and apply it in a laboratory. Stockton University built this building to attract more science students. I think EYP did a great job designing the building. If you never entered the building before, you can just look at it from the outside and just tell that it is a building designed for Science majors. The building itself does not have many classrooms, but instead it has a lot of laboratories with state of the art equipment. On the inside of the building it has a piece of artwork called the wave hanging from the second floor and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Plato s Idea of the Emergence of Tyranny from Democracy Essay What are tyrants, one might ask. In the current sense of the word a tyrant is pejorative term, applied to an individual in power who is selfish and self preserving. A tyrant is an immoral being, ruling over those around him through force, a tax on the freedom of those he subjugates. Yet the question that one should be asking is where do tyrants come from? Plato proposed that tyrants are a product of democracy, that the liberty inherent to a democracy allows the self interested to manipulate the system(generally through appealing to the population at large) causing a system with little liberty. This paper aims to defend the claims of Plato concerning tyranny, particularly the origins of tyrants, as well as to propose the safeguards that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plato states that the ones who are by nature most orderly generally become the wealthiest ( The Republic Book VIII 564e). Tyrants emerge where the drones manipulate the masses into despising the prosperous. Regardless of what someone believes causes certain individuals in a society to become wealthy and prosperous, it very hard to deny that the prosperous class does not provoke envy on the part of the non prosperous. This is where the large uninterested portion of a democratic population make it possible for tyrants to emerge. Both parties (the prosperous and non prosperous alike) select and support drones that defend their interests, as one group is busy procuring wealth, the other uninterested in pursuing political debate. The most successful of these drone are those that defend the interests of those they support the best, generally by victimizing members of the opposite camps and defending their own against the victimization of others. They gain power and prestige to the point that they can be called popular leaders. Tyrants evolve from popular leaders because they are able to victimize and scapegoat members of opposing camps with the support of the masses. The masses benefit from supporting their leader as he/she continues to defend their interests, and generally the loss of the victims ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Section Of 1 Corinthians 12-13 In The Harpercollins Study... The first section of the note on 1 Corinthians 12:12 13 in the HarperCollins Study Bible leads the reader to contemplate the issue of unity in the body of Christ, the lack of which is arguably the origin of most, if not all of the issues facing the Corinthian church. The Christians in Corinth were challenged with several internal problems, many of which could have been solved by the members seeking unity in their diversity. Paul introduces the idea that the church should function as the body of Christ, valuing the abilities and roles that God chose for each member. The first part of the note states, Like certain other ancient writers, Paul regards the human body as illustrating the point that unity and diversity are not incompatible, applying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Corinthians had a way of self praise and boasting over their superior actions. They would speak in tongues and prophecy in public not to benefit others who are in attendance but, in Paul s view, simply to elevate themselves in the eyes of others (Bart Ehrman, A Brief Introduction to the New Testament, p. 228). In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul lists the variety of gifts that various members of the church possess, saying that the Spirit has assigned each gift to each individual. Paul wants the Corinthians to understand that God has given the individuals in the community distinctive roles and gifts that, when used appropriately, better the church as a whole. To emphasize the importance of unity in the church, Paul writes, For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ (1 Cor 12:12). Paul shows how each member of the church has imperative value, just as each part of the body is essential for it to work properly. The Corinthians problem of boasting would fade away as soon as they acknowledge that there is value in the diversity of the members of the church. God placed each person in the role that He intends for them to fill and everyone must recognize His placement. Greater than all other gifts is the gift of love. Love is crucial because it builds up the community and strengthens every believer, regardless of their differences. Paul stresses that the most excellent gift is love, writing If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing (1 Cor ...
