Invasives Vs Non-Invasives
Invasives versus non invasives: Not all alien species are invasive. Many, such as honeybees, may be
considered beneficial to the environment and the economy. If a species hasn t had any record of
introduction to new habitats, it is nearly impossible to tell whether it will be dangerous or not. The
cane toad was introduced to Australia under the mistaken impression that it would only eat the insects
they hoped it would. Garlic mustard was introduced as an herb. The best practice is to simply import
as few new non native species as possible. This also includes tightening all pathways of introduction
to prevent new introductions. Community outreach: A website will be created by the local CISMA
which will include information on invasives and

Federal Regulation of Organic Farming
Is there a federal standard for what organic means when it comes to farm fresh milk?
Ruva (Ruvarashe) Munyariwa
Introduction to political Science, POS1001 Professor Schuman
January 23, 2011
With the organic industry booming and up until recently showing an annual growth rate of 20% it has
been necessary for the federal government to step in and regulate the previously self regulated
industry. Initially, regulation of this industry was implemented by private nonprofit organizations and
some state governments as a way to put an end to consumer fraud and to ensure the integrity of
organic food. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Preventive medical care in the form of vaccines, vitamins, minerals and any approved supplements is
strongly relied on to keep the animals as healthy as possible. The process used to bottle and pasteurize
the milk produced from these cows must also be certified and the organic milk has to be kept separate
from nonorganic milk to uphold its integrity as an organic commodity. Other ingredients used in this
process all have to be organic unless there is no organic equivalent. Organic chemicals like volatile
synthetic solvents and other synthetic processing aids are also prohibited during the bottling process
further upholding the integrity of the milk.
Critics of the certification system argue that it s easy to flout the rules either blatantly or by creatively
interpreting the rules and the regulations. An example of this occurred in 2004 when Bayliss ranch, a
food ingredient producer, based in California tried to use the fact that because the tap water that they
were using in their products had been certified organic, they could legally use the label organic on
their products. These critics also argue that the certification process provides a podium by which
special interest groups and lobbyists can press for amendments and exceptions to established rules and
regulations favorable to large scale operators meaning that conventionally produced

Bar Code Scanning and Patient Safety Essay
Bar Code Scanning and Patient Safety Phyllis Harman University of Southern Indiana Bar Code
Scanning and Patient Safety The following paper explores eight published articles that address the
issue of bar code scanning for medication administration and patient safety. Online research was
conducted to locate and review articles which are included in review of literature, and to acquire
accurate information addressing the issues discussed. The understanding of Bar Code Scanning for
Medication Administration (BCMA) is a valuable tool, providing safe practice needed to reduce
medication errors leading to safer patient handling. Patient safety is defined by the Institute of

practices. Wristbands used for identification can assist with identifying the correct patient in the six

safe practice of medication administration to patients. Discuss Bar Code Scanning in Medication
Administration (BCMA) The following articles were reviewed for the purpose of addressing bar code
scanning in medication administration. Nursing requires the critical skill of accurate medication
administration. The use of electronic medication administration has brought about many changes in
the healthcare field. The article, What Determines Successful Implementation of Inpatient Information
Technology Systems (Spetz et al 2012), was reviewed to address the above question. Computerized
patients records and bar code medication systems continue to gain favor in healthcare. This idea
spread across the nation in all VA sites (Spetz et al., 2012, p. 157), providing a safer environment for
patient care. The use of bar code scanning utilizes the perfection of computers into medication
administration process. Training to use (BCMA) indicated from the article can be cumbersome and
staff can be apprehensive about the change. The time needed

Cecil Rhode Confession Analysis
Based on Cecil Rhode s article, Confession , it seems that all he cares is about power. He desired to
have a government that has people with one idea and serve one king instead of serving in another
foreign land. It would mean that since I am an American under the U.S. laws, I cannot go to another
country (e.g. Candada) to serve their king; as a result, Rhodes would call this betrayal and disloyalty
to my country (DR, 2). I would have to agree that betraying the country where your parents raised you
would consider to cause complicated issues, resulting in people calling you a traitor. However, the
king cannot force people to serve their country; otherwise, it would lead to totalitarianism. Christopher

Why Cursive Needs To Go
Cursive Needs to go
How many people use cursive for day to day writing, probably not a lot of people. Most people
keyboard and print. Maybe sometime later bills will be paid on computers and checks won t require
cursive. This passage will include how much percent of people use cursive compared to print, why
cursive shouldn t be added back to standards, and why cursive is a dead skill. Cursive is a dead skill
because, most teachers never taught or stoped teaching to their students. The reason cursive needs to
go is because there is no reason why educators should add cursive to Common Core because it
undermines the strength of standards. In the article Let Cursive Handwriting Die it says, Very small

In the article Handwriting matters; Cursive Doesn t it says, The fastest clearest handwriters join only
some letters making the easiest joins, skipping others using print like forms of letters whose cursive

Most people think that cursive is great however, why use cursive when it s a dead skill. Most people
keyboard too. Teachers should be focused on teaching their kids the skills in common core but, if they
have time to teach then teach but other than that don t teach it. Speaking of common core it s full of
skills that need to be taught over cursive these skills include math, science(biology, earth, etc.),
Language Arts, Social Studies. This has been the last reason why cursive should die.
Cursive is a dead skill because teachers don t teach their students it anymore and nobody uses cursive.
These things were mentioned in this passage, How much percent of people use cursive, why it shouldn

British Sonnets
The British sonnets To Sleep and Come Sleep! O Sleep, the certain knot of peace , written by John
Keats and Sir Phillip Sidney respectively, contain many similarities and a few distinct differences.
They both are about the act of falling to sleep and the many beneficial thing that come from sleeping.
Both of these sonnets are also very moving in their exquisite use of an assortment of literary
techniques. However, these sonnets differ in the tone in which they are written, the speed at which
they are intended to be read, and their rhyme scheme. The British sonnets To Sleep and Come Sleep!
O Sleep, the certain knot of peace are very similar in their subject matter and use of literary
techniques, but are quite different in their tone, designed reading speed and rhyme scheme. The British
sonnets To Sleep and Come Sleep! O Sleep, the certain knot of peace contain many similarities.
Perhaps the two sonnets greatest common factor is their extensive use of personification. The two
authors of these poems both use personification to humanize sleep. Personification is displayed in To
Sleep when the narrator calls sleep the soft embalmer of the still midnight (Keats 1). The narrator is
bestowing upon the sleep the title of the soft embalmer of the still midnight (Keats 1). The use of
placing a title of something non human bestows near human like status upon said non human object.
Sir Phillip Sidney also uses personification in his sonnet, Come Sleep! O Sleep, the

Lifelong Benefits Of Reading
Reading Has Lifelong Benefits
We are alone when we don t read. Lots of people read as a hobby. But have people ever thought of the
lifelong benefits of reading? Reading has many lifelong benefits; therefore, reading is very
fundamental, reading can make some people calmer, and a brain can stay sharp.
Reading is very fundamental. If people read a lot, other places in the brain will increase as well. In the
article The Long Term Effects of Skipping Your Reading Homework, Pamela state s, Reading makes
kids better at math. A british study found that students who read for pleasure not only had a better
vocabulary and spelling which is to be expected but that those students were also more proficient in
math. It makes sense that reading helps kids at math because if they are good at one subject, then they
can be good at multiple subjects. When people read, it can improve their spelling and vocabulary
because the more words they read, the more words they could learn. If someone doesn t know a word,
then they might look the word up and figure out what the word means. Then they will possibly have
learned a new word. Pamela DeLoatch wrote that reading can boost self esteem and communication
skills, One educated provider says that since students who read usually have enhanced vocabulary,
they can often find the words to express themselves and do not feel as frustrated and angry. If one kid
or adult is having a bad day, they might pick up a book and start reading. If the person

The Effects Of Social Media On Society Essay
Social media has become prominent parts of life for many young people today. Most people engage
with social media without stopping to think what the effects are on our lives, whether positive or
negative. Are we as a society becoming more concerned with Facebook friends than we are with the
people we interact with face to face in our daily lives? What will the longterm effects of today s social
media use be? There are many positive aspects, but there are equally as many dangers that come with
the use of sites such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google +, Tumblr, Instagram, gaming
sites, and blogs. Social media has both negative and positive effects on society, it is up to the user to
decide what impact they want to make. In order to make the right choices, we must dig in and research
this topic thoroughly. Recent research has documented how technology, and social networking sites
(SNS; e.g., Facebook, Instagram) in particular, have given rise to a growing obsession with impression
management and self presentation online. Whether it s searching for the perfect Instagram photo filter
or carefully crafting a humblebrag Facebook status about a recent publication, users frequently engage
in selective self presentation strategies to portray an ideal self through social media (Chou Edge, 2012;
Manago, Graham, Greenfield, Salimkhan, 2008). In turn, we seek out social approval and positive
feedback in the form of comments and likes. With steep increases in the

How to achieve an effective controlling in an organization By the late 1970s, a successful economic
reform program launched in China, many enterprise grasped this opportunity and enjoy a huge
achievement during this rare reformation. While the market transferred to a developed market
economic, however, enterprise faced more challenges than the past and earning quick profit seems to
be more difficult. Ultimately, many of these enterprises shut down due to own ineffective controlling

1: The external controlling organizational system The emphasis of bureaucracy is on hierarchical
organization and the detailed division of labor. This restricts personal feelings and behaviors on the
basis of written rules so as to achieve the purpose of the organization. (Olsen, 2006) In other words,
bureaucracy relies on a strict and mature organizational system. The system comprises precise
regulation and rules to implement effective controlling. In an organization, advantages from the
system control can largely benefit the whole organization, which include, lowering the cost of control,
keeping high efficiency operations, maintaining a fairly and justice workplace environment. (Salaman,
2005) In the long run, a perfect system can ensure the consistency of the organization s activities, and
an equal workplace environment can greatly release the workplace conflict between the managers and
the employees. However, Sližienė and Vaitkienė (2007) point out that a perfect system controlling
depends on two factors. On the one hand, it is hard to make a perfect system that satisfied the interest
of everyone. Besides, it may be impossible to make predictive and far sighted regulations to be able to
solve all the difficulties. At the same time, even though the system itself is perfect enough, the process
to implement these rules seems to be more difficult. Where the executors can make mistakes in this
process, and

Cause and Effects of Smallpox
Smallpox is caused by the variola virus that emerged in human populations thousands of years ago.
Smallpox is a specific, infectious, and highly contagious febrile disease known only to be transmitted
by humans. It is caused by a virus from air currents which are eventually passed on from person to
person. Smallpox varies from a mild form without skin manifestations to a highly fatal hemorrhagic
form. Edward Jenner, an English physician, discovered a means of preventing smallpox through
vaccination. Gradually mass vaccination programs were introduced in many parts of the world.

Exposure to the virus is followed by an incubation period which people may not feel any sign of
symptoms. The incubation period can range between 7 to 17 days. People are not contagious during
this time period. After the incubation period, high fever, chills, severe headache and backache, and
general malaise begin to develop. Your body temperature can reach up to 106 degrees Fahrenheit.
After 2 to 4 days, a rash emerges first as small red spots on the tongue and in the mouth. The spots
develop into sores which spread large amounts of the virus into the mouth and throat. The person
becomes most contagious during this phase. Soon after, the smallpox rash appears on exposed portions
of the body: the face, forearms, wrists, palms, lower legs, feet, and soles. Usually the rash spreads to
all parts of the body within 24 hours.
As the rash appears, the fever usually falls and the person may start to feel better. The rash becomes
raised bumps on the third day of the rash. The bumps fill with a thick, opaque fluid and often have a
depression in the center that looks like a bellybutton. (CDC, 2004). This is a major distinguishing
characteristic of smallpox that occurs on the fourth day. Until scabs form over the bumps, fever often

The Marriage Between Elizabeth And Mrs. Darcy
The eventual marriage between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice comes as a result of
their profound personal rediscoveries. Initially, a slew of misunderstandings between the two
characters, stemming from their first encounter at a ball in Meryton, had plagued the relationship,
nearly rendering it irreconcilable. They both left that first ball with wildly different interpretations of
each other s intentions; Darcy s refusal to dance with Elizabeth instilled her with a budding resentment
that would distort her judgement of him until mid way through the novel, while the former character,
assured by his pride, viewed her disposition as flirtatious in nature. These conflicting perspectives put
them both at cross purposes, but neither realizes this truth until they each embark on a personal
journey of self discovery; Elizabeth and Darcy s subsequent realizations better them both, and renders
the pair romantically compatible. Elizabeth and Darcy s meeting at Pemberley, the latter character s
home, allows the two to showcase their newly transformed personas without the cloud of prejudice.
Upon their arrival, Mrs. Reynolds, the housekeeper, greets Elizabeth and her aunt and uncle, the
Gardiners. While touring them around the estate, she praises Darcy, describing him as generous, good
natured, and protective of his sister; these unequivocal words help to increase Elizabeth s regard for
him as a person. Darcy eventually arrives, and reveals his transformation through his

I Am A Master Of My Own Destiny, By The United States Of...
In the United States of America, there are over 300 million people. Each one of these people have
heard messages that tell them that they are in control. Whether it s their own lives or those around
them; Americans are bred with the idea that complete control is possible. This idea is not a new
concept for Americans. In fact, Americans have had overinflated ideas about control since we decided
that it was necessary for us to control the rest of the nation via Manifest Destiny. The reason that I
choose to focus on Americanized control as my final narrative is because it is something that I ve
grown familiar with in my life. It s always the same kinds of people buying into it and being lead
astray to the troubles that come with having such a strong desire for control. In fact, I was once a
believer in that ideology. I once thought that I was the master of my own destiny, but I was wrong. As
I got older and time went on, every single thing that I m writing now is everything that I ve seen in
others. In other words, knowing that a person has no control over their life is something that I
understand intensely. I understand it so well that I can breakdown some aspects of the type of control
that affect Americans like me. These characteristics of control are: the punishment of those who
seemingly lack control, that planning is a placebo and therefore does nothing, and working hard
amounts to nothing.
Control is sold to people on the idea that it s achievable by all and only

How similar can two short stories inevitably get? Differences in the short stories are everywhere.

way. To anyone who has read a few short stories, that statement is absurd. Given these points, I will be

short story is, Invitations by Carol Shields, and the other is, Black Walls by Liu Xin Wu. I will be

Imaginative Play
sychChildren s Imaginative Play: A Descriptive Psychology Approach
Charles Kantor, Ph.D. Abstract
The significance of children s imaginative play is presented from the perspective of Descriptive
Psychology and in particular Ossorio s Dramaturgical model of persons. The fluidity of imaginative
play, the imitation of and creation of social practices and options within play as well as the
opportunity to switch roles and act according to reasons of another, contribute to the development of
judgment. The observer critic role emerges during imaginative play as children produce, direct, and
enact their dramas. Within these scenarios, children develop competence and eligibility to be not only

The self and self concept The psychoanalytic theorists (Freud, Erikson) see children playing out
negative emotions in a safe context. Children are attempting to regain control in situations of conflict.
Mead stresses the importance of role playing in children s play, which activity contributes to a child s
sense of self (Verenikina et al, 2003). Erikson (1963, p.240) in describing a young client struggling
with the wartime death of his father, a pilot, illustrates the healing value of play: ...he was observed
swooping down a hill on a bicycle, endangering, scaring, yet deftly avoiding other children.... In
watching him, and hearing the strange noises he made, I could not help thinking that he again
imagined himself to be an airplane on a bombing mission. But at the same time he gained in playful
mastery over his locomotion; he exercised circumspection in his attack, and he became an admired
virtuoso on a bicycle.

Advances in Descriptive Psychology Vol. 9
This description of a young boy playing imaginatively illustrates elements that theorists over the years
have attributed to the value of play. His role play was distinctly social as others witnessed his attack,
and his actions increased his stature, his prestige among his friends. His ability to handle the bike, his
cognitive strength, circumspection in his attack , as he swoops down the hill, is noted as well. His self
esteem increased to the extent that he

The Acceptance of Homosexuality in South Africa Essay
The Acceptance of Homosexuality in South Africa
For hundreds of years South Africa has endured a constant power struggle, oppression under the
apartheid government, the AIDS epidemic and homophobia. Internationally there are currently four
countries that permit same sex marriages, which include the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium and Canada.
Even though homosexuality remains largely taboo in South Africa, the country is taking steps towards
overall equality and improved human rights allowing such unions to take place where this lifestyle
was once forbidden.
In modern day Africa homosexuality is illegal for gay men in 29 countries and for lesbians in 20

The increasing visibility of same sex couples and the increased visibility of homosexuality did not
necessarily mean more gay men and women were coming out. For an African coming out is a
continual process because it involves additional cultural and social factors that play a major role. The
process is more difficult because the African family structure in much more connected than that in the
United States. If something affects one person in a family it affects everyone. Coming out deals with
homophobic churches, strong family foundations and ties that emphasize heterosexuality, and the
overall negative connotation associated with the GLBT community.
In the African community your stance on homosexuality is influenced by the church, you either do not

in general are dentists who are picked to undergo extra training in accredited orthodontic residency
programs so as to become specialists in offering particular orthodontic braces or appliances. If you
have bite problems or instability in the straightness of your teeth, you should consider visiting an
orthodontist to get specialized treatment for your problem. Here are some of the benefits of choosing
the right orthodontist in Bakersfield.
Early treatment minimizes later problems
According to the American Association of Orthodontists, children who may need dental braces should
be assessed at the age of around seven years. Orthodontists are trained to assess and predict how the
jaw will develop in later years. Hence, if an orthodontist can identify a potential problem and
intervene at an early age, it helps a lot in reducing the degree of damage or necessity of substantial
procedures in rectifying the jaw problems later on. Orthodontists are used to seeing patients with
crooked teeth every day, and hence have more experience in straightening teeth than general dentists.

Daniel Deronda Essay
Daniel Deronda
Daniel Deronda, the final novel published by George Eliot, was also her most controversial. Most of
Eliot s prior novels dealt largely with provincial English life but in her final novel Eliot introduced a
storyline for which she was both praised and disparaged. The novel deals not only with the coming of
age of Gwendolyn Harleth, a young English woman, but also with Daniel Deronda s discovery of his
Jewish identity. Through characters like Mirah and Mordecai Cohen, Eliot depicts Jewish cultural
identity in the Victorian period. Reaction to Daniel Deronda exposes the deeply embedded anti
semitism of the period. The story follows the tow main characters over the course of several years as
they struggle with their own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was during this time that she began to suffer from the kidney problems that eventually killed her.
She was also plagued by chronic head and tooth aches during this time (Karl, 545). Despite her
physical ailments Eliot meticulously researched the book. She took Hebrew lessons with Emanuel
Deutsch and the character of Mordecai Cohen is said to be based on him. She also read extensively
about Jewish culture and tradition. In a letter Eliot s would be spouse, George Henry Lewes, writes
that of the two buying Judaic books and visiting a synagogue in Frankfurt in the summer of 1873
(Karl, 527).
Daniel Deronda was originally published in a series of monthly installments that appeared in
Blackwood s Magazine between February and September of 1876. Terence Cave notes in his
introduction to the Penguin edition of Daniel Deronda, that the decision to begin in February was
based on the inability to get it to the American market in December and Blackwood s belief that
January wasn t a fit month to publish anything(qtd. in Cave xxii). Eliot was able to stay comfortably
ahead of release dates while writing Deronda seemingly conquering the pressures of serial publication
that she so hated.
The text was then published in 4 bound volumes printed in 1876. In October of 1877 a second printing
of the novel contained minor alterations to the

Book Of Mormon Evaluation
Shows Improvement: The more I study the Book of Mormon the more I understand that it was written
for us. Sometimes I feel like the characters of the Book of Mormon are out of touch or hard to relate
to, but in reality they represent every facet of modern society. They help us see the good in the world,
they help us see the evil in our lives, and ultimately warn us from the swaying philosophies of the
world that lead men into sin. When I read about Nephi and his brothers and the fights that they had, I
think about the relationship that I have with my brothers; when I read about Sherem and Nehor, I think
about the dangerous and volatile philosophies of men that justify sin and denounce the teachings of
Chirst; and when I read about Ammon and the Sons of Mosiah, I think about the missionaries that
have touched my life and the kind of missionary that I hope to be. Every story and every character

Coraline Movie Analysis

Coraline and MK ULTRA The movie Coraline is about Monarch Programming project MK Ultra. MK
Ultra was a mind control program created by the CIA. It basically works by submitting the subject to
extreme torture to create a second personality, which can be triggered at any time to perform any
action required by the handler. This was shown a lot in the movie Captain America: Civil War with the
character Bucky Barnes, who was turned into a slave through MK Ultra. The movie Coraline is about
a young girl, sharing the name of the film, who is neglected by her family and finds a portal in her
new home to a fictional world where her parents have buttons for eyes and spend all of their time on
her and love her unconditionally. (SPOILERS) Everything is basically backwards and better in this
world. In the end it turns out her other mother wanted to take her eyes and kill her to retain her youth.
Coraline escapes from her other mother and all is well. The opening scene of the movie is essentially a
symbolic summary of the entire mind control process. It starts with a creepy metal hand and a doll of a
little girl. The hand obviously representing the handler, and the doll the subject. First the clothes are
removed with scissors, referencing abuse. Then the hair is ripped from the doll s head, a form of very
traumatic torture. Then the eyes are ripped out of the doll, which is a very large symbol of MK Ultra

Roe v. Wade (1973): Second Draft Norma McCorvey was a young woman who had dropped out of
high school, divorced from her husband, and was raising her five year old daughter with very little
money. She tried to obtain an abortion but was unable to under Texas law in 1969. At the time, Texas
did not allow women to have abortions unless the mother s life was in danger. McCorvey had no
choice but to carry the baby full term and give up the baby she wanted to abort. Her lawyer also
introduced her to two recent graduates of the University of Texas Law School, Sarah Weddington and
Linda Coffee. The three women decided to challenge the constitutionality of Texas s law and
McCorvey became Jane Roe in a test case against Henry Wade, the criminal district attorney for
Dallas County, Texas. Wade appealed to the Supreme Court the decision of a three judge federal
district court striking down Texas s law. Justice Blackmun finally handed down the Court s opinion on
January 23, 1973. The Court s decision was seven to two, and the majority s opinion was announced
by Justice Blackmun. Chief Justice Burger and Justices Douglas and Stewart concurred; Justices
Rehnquist and White dissented. Justice Blackmun delivered the opinion of the Court by saying, The

Partisanship and Electoral Incentives
Tufte (1978) and Hibbs (1987) both argue that there are two principle political influences on
macroeconomic policy: partisanship and electoral incentives. However, they differ with regard to the
emphasis they place on each influence. While Tufte emphasizes the influence of electoral incentives,
Hibbs argues in favor of the influence of partisanship. Franzese s (2002) review of electoral and
partisan influences on macroeconomic outcomes suggests that there is more empirical evidence
supporting Hibbs assertion. However, he also suggests that there is considerable room for an analysis
of context conditional electoral and partisan cycles (Franzese, 2002, p. 369). Bearing this in mind, I
argue that incumbent politicians can switch between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

virtue of their position as policymakers, incumbents have the ability to create and influence
macroeconomic policy. With respect to Hibbs partisan explanation, policymakers are able to secure
the support of their party and fulfill ideological mandates through the manipulation of macroeconomic
policy (Hibbs 1987). Policy Instruments. Policymakers under Hibbs partisan explanation are willing to
use both fiscal and monetary policy instruments in order to achieve their goals. While electorally
oriented policymakers emphasize fast acting policy instruments in order to localize the effect on the
economy around the election, policymakers pursuing a partisan approach could make use of additional
fiscal policy instruments. For example, in order to reduce inflation, an economic contraction could be

How My Group Members And I Worked Together
This final paper will explain how my group members and I worked together. This ties into the final
project for this class. My paper will show how I related to all the myths within a culture and tie them
to the real world. Below I will explain how everything turned out and how we came up with out topic
for the final project. I think as of now the level of engagement my partners have participated in is very
low. We decided we wanted to focus on the Greek culture on April twenty fourth. I contacted them and
asked how we wanted to split the work up or even start and I had no responses. Finally at nine on
Saturday night one of my group members messaged a link to Google Documents, with only one slide
started. I started working on the Google PowerPoint at eleven at night and woke up this morning to
see nothing had been added. I went back on around eleven this morning and added new work. A little
update to this situation it is now six, nothing has been added, but my work and I have had zero contact
with my group. So I will say my group had little engagement in this project, one member did make the
Google document, but nothing has been started. I think I learned a lot about my teamwork skills. I am
such a perfectionist and like to get things done early. Working with a group makes it challenging,
because people had different time schedules. I think I learned that I am someone who engages with a
project more often than my group, because I want to get my work done. My goal for this

Clueless of her own Cluelessness
The iconic release of Amy Heckerling s production of Clueless (1995), dramatized the struggles of a
typical, rich American princess Cher Horowitz. Her story is set in Beverly Hills, California where she
comes from an affluent home headed by her father who is a lawyer. Being in high school, Cher is
popular amongst her peers and that in addition to her wealthy background are big parts in upkeeping
her lavish lifestyle. Cher is obviously intelligent, yet still so naive; most of her focus and energy is

And this is confirmed by her father, in the times she makes sure he is eating healthy and taking
medication as suggested by their doctor, etc. This suggests the idea that Cher might not be as self
centered and naive as she seems. Cher s taking upon the role of caring for her father comes from the
obvious lack of a maternal figure in their household. Later, in the narrative Cher finds that she wants
to help people and ends up offering the new girl at school a makeover. Whether or not Cher realizes
what she had done at that moment, is unknown to the audience. But in suggesting that Tai had
character traits that needed changing in order to fit into Beverly hills norms that might differ from
ones in the Bronx [where Tai initially is from]. It was that moment that marked the beginning of Tai s
assimilation to higher social status. Cher told Tai that they needed to work on that accent , after they
changed her hair color amongst other things. This all stems from Cher s presumption that Tai needed
help to fit into the new school she was attending, though Tai never asked for their help in the
beginning. Ironically, Cher mentions how clueless she thinks Tai is, when she really was the one that
had been clueless all long. However, it would be interesting to question Cher s true intentions of that
makeover. Because throughout the narrative, Cher and Dionne who would be considered the popular
girls , are depicted to be kindhearted and humanitarian. As opposed to the teen movies that followed
Clueless, less than a decade later such as Mark Waters production of Mean Girls (2004) in which the
popular girls are antagonists in the film; who are much less forgiving and

What Does It Mean To Be Popular
Popularity in Today s Society When most people think of popular people they think of bullies or
people who are just popular because they are mean so they put themselves above others, which is true
and I agree that there are people who are popular because of that, but there is also people who are
friends with everyone and are nice to everyone and there isn t a single person who doesn t like them. I
m not going to make this essay about bullying but more of what popularity means to me and how
important I think it is to be popular. What does being popular mean exactly, well if you look up the
word popularity the state or condition of being liked, admired, or supported by many people will be
what comes up. How does someone become popular is a more important question. Most people
become popular by going over the top of others, by putting themselves above others and thinking that
they are more important than them. Which to me isn t true popularity, if I had to choose I wouldn t use
the word popular because it s a word that popular people like to use, but to me to be popular is to be
nice to everyone and work to where you are and not have to hurt others to make the way to the top.

Mythology always had been and will always be inseparable part of a society and so will be the stories
that on the surface may seem fantastic but at a deeper level deals with very contemporary issues. Since
mythological texts had been written down centuries ago it had certain patriarchal norms and
perspective one for example is that readers are never given reasons or a look inside the female
characters while male characters are given a chance to justify themselves for example the episode of
Draupadi laughing when Duryodhana slips inside the palace of illusions of
Indraprastha is added later to the text to justify to some extent her disrobing in the episode of dicing.

Christmas And Hanukkah Research Paper

The difference between Christmas and Hanukkah
Every year people are jolly to celebrate their own traditions. Whether it is Christmas or Hanukkah,
people find joys with giving and receiving gifts. Both holidays differ in many ways. There are many
differences in the holidays Christmas and Hanukkah. A difference between Christmas and Hanukkah
is the history. Christmas is one day in every year which is December 25th. Hanukkah is 8 days and
starts the evening of the 24th of Kislev. Christmas origin is the birth of Jesus who is the son of God.
Hanukkah origins date back to about 167 B.C. A Jewish army, led by Judah the Maccabee, recaptured

25(Holiday History). Jews celebrate Hanukkah. Many Christians believe in the virgin birth. Also,
Christians give gifts and have Christmas decorations for example a Christmas tree. Jews light eight
candles and each candle represents a different day. In addition, for Hanukkah they light the menorah
and play the dreidel. Another difference is the importance of Christmas and Hanukkah. Christmas
celebrates the nativity of Christ and it is as diverse as the many countries that observe it, and was a
popular subject in the Catholic and Orthodox religious art of the middle ages and Renaissance( The
Gift of Holiday Traditions).Hanukkah is celebrated after a miracle occurred when the Jewish people
reclaimed their temple from their Seleucid (Macedonian) conquerors Judah s men tried to reconsecrate
the Jewish temple by lighting its menorah which is a sacramental lamp. The story of the birth of Jesus
can be found in the bible. Hanukkah is in the First and second book of Maccabees. If there was no

The Fence Between Bonnie And Amanda s Property
The issues generated in consideration of the contested property line between Bonnie and Amanda s
property include: i) Conventional boundaries: Does the fence between Bonnie and Amanda s house
constitute a conventional boundary? ii) Improvements by Mistake of Title: Whether the improvements
made by Bonnie constitute an entitlement to the land.
i) Conventional Boundaries
In circumstances where the true location of a boundary is unascertainable, the conventional line
doctrine provides abutting property owners the ability to create one. After a conventional boundary
has been legitimately established, Robertson v. Alberta provides that the property owners maintain the
security to rely on the boundary to lawfully develop the land under the ... Show more content on

In fact, the previous Kardashian owners assumed that the fence was an accurate indication of the
property line, which they thought was located directly between the houses and therefore never
attempted to ascertain the actual location of the boundary. If the uncertainty of the boundary was never
acknowledged, the principles found in Bea v. Robinson finds that a conventional boundary could not
be existing because was no attempt to ascertain the actual boundary. Bea v. Robinson states that this
attempt is a mandatory element in the foundation of a conventional boundary. Even in the presence of
strong evidence that the boundary was agreed upon and treated as a boundary, it seems likely that the
test for conventional boundaries must fail in consideration of the fact that the surveyor Amanda hired
was able to ascertain the true boundaries which were not consistent with that of the fence. If the
doctrine of conventional lines fails, the foundational principle (lecture) of estoppel provides no
security for Bonnie in the reliance on the boundary to build. ii) Improvements by Mistake of Title

The anthropological literature tackling the topic of romantic love concerns possible factors that make
love an integral part of general social structure and marriage in certain societies, such as modes of
subsistence dependence, sexual equality and post marital residence rules.
One cannot overstate the significance that lies in understanding the relationship between love and
marriage, as both are critical elements of humanity. Understanding love as a functioning agent in
maintaining marital stability allows us to better understand an important part of who we are as
humans. Hence, as a basic building block of human social structure, romantic ·love and its role in the
maintenance of society is an incredibly important area of research.
Much of the anthropological community agrees that romantic love does constitute a valid area of
research, and hopes to repair the general oversight of love that occurred in earlier ethnographic work
(Jankowiak
1992 and Fischer 1992).
In order to analyze the relationship between romantic love and marriage, it is necessary to compare
current thinking with respect to this theme. It is also important to research and discuss love in terms of
its functional role in society, or more appropriately, its functional role

Are The Four Components Of Marriott s Financial Strategy...
1) Are the four components of Marriott s financial strategy consistent with its growth objective?
a) It is advisable to manage than to own as it is consistent with the growth strategy. In this manner,
mar riot can attract additional capital that gives it an opportunity to even invest more in the future,
share the risks with limited partners. The partnership can be of great benefit as it is a good way of
saving on taxes.
b) The decision to invest in projects increases the shareholders value of the company. This is
consistent with the growth and from the NPV criteria, positive NPV of projects increases the
shareholder s value.
c) Optimization of the capital structure is also consistent with the growth of the company. The optimal

How does Marriott use its estimate of its cost of capital? Does this make sense?
a) Discounted cash flows from the projects by the suitable division of a hurdle rate to get the net
present value which financially makes sense since risks among different divisions do vary.
b) Another method is through incorporation of the hurdle rate in the compensation policy which in
sense does not make sense since the rate does reflect risks of different activities and not managers
performance.
3. What is the weighted average cost of capital for Marriott Corporation?
Marriot Corporation measures the opportunity cost of the cost of capital for the investments using the
weighted average cost of capital for similar investments that have the same risk. The WACC for the
corporation is 11.89%.
a) What risk free rate and the risk premium did you use to calculate the cost of equity?
For the purposes of risk premium consistency, the arithmetic average was most applicable to the
historic US government bonds of 4.58% for the longest period because of its accurate estimate.
The risk premium used is 7.43% though it seems to be high, low free rate compensates it.
For the calculation of equity, beta is a necessity because there is no comparison that matches its
operational profile. Beta 1.17 ke = (4.58%+1.17) =

My Personal Philosophy Of Philosophy
Statement of Philosophy My personal philosophy its important for me that I stay true to my personal,
moral and ethical values that has followed me throughout my life. The American Nursing Association
stats The nurse owes the same duties to self as to others, including the responsibility to preserve
integrity and safety, to maintain competence and to continue personal and professional growth .
(American Nurse Association, 2011, p. 7) Jean Watson says that nursing should be concerned with the
pursuit of hidden truths and new insights, developments of knowledge in relation to the human
experiencing caring healing, health and illness (Watson, 2012, p. 2), and when the nurse does this, the
nurse can be open to learn new discoveries of how to be in a professional human caring healing
relationship with individuals or better serve humankind and global civilization . (Watson, 2012, p. 2).
Personally, having the opportunity to impact someone everyday is very powerful, I want to be a
compassionate nurse by the words I use, my actions, and my attitude can help another human being to
heal and that is something that I will remember all throughout my life.
Use of Assessment Tools to Formulate Goals On November 11, 2016, I will be completing a goal I

Tertiary Education Should Be Required As A Prerequisite...
Title: Tertiary education should be required as a prerequisite in order to join the police force.
Introduction:
Problem: Without prior tertiary education, police are entering the workforce under skilled.
Claim: All police should be required to have tertiary education as it promotes police professionalism,
improves standards in both policing and security and encourages personal growth and ethical decision
making.
Reasoning: By making tertiary education a prerequisite when joining the police force, it is ensuring
that all potential police officers are fully equipped with the highly necessary, and somewhat
complicated, skills set in order to protect and serve the public.
Definition: Relating to or denoting education at a level beyond that ... Show more content on

Studies have concluded that higher education has an impact on the views of police officers towards
racial/ethnic minorities, as well as on levels of professionalism and on standards of service to the
community (Archbold, Hasselli Manist, 2008)
Warrant:
Trofymowych (2008) implies that while university education is not the only factor required for police
to obtain professional recognition, it is an essential part of the professionalization process, without
which police will never obtain professional status .
Backing:
In order to obtain police professionalism , tertiary education is highly advised.
Grounds 2: Tertiary education improves standards in policing
Evidence:
Webb (2008) states that tertiary education and training have frequently been recommended as key
requirements to improve standards within policing and security.
In more recent times, researchers have studied and analyzed methodical social observations of 638
officers in two policing departments, discovering that officers with more education were less expected
to use force. (Webb, 2008)
A study was conducted which uncovered that officers with a university degree were less likely to use
verbal and physical force in comparison to their colleagues, where their highest education was a high
school certificate. Similarly, officers with some university experience were less likely to engage in
verbal force opposed to their less educated colleagues. (Paoline Terrill, 2007)

The cane toad was introduced to Australia under the mistaken impression that it would only eat the insects they hoped it would. Garlic mustard was introduced as an herb. The best practice is to simply import as few new non native species as possible. This also includes tightening all pathways of introduction to prevent new introductions. Community outreach: A website will be created by the local CISMA which will include information on invasives and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Critics of the certification system argue that it s easy to flout the rules either blatantly or by creatively interpreting the rules and the regulations. An example of this occurred in 2004 when Bayliss ranch, a food ingredient producer, based in California tried to use the fact that because the tap water that they were using in their products had been certified organic, they could legally use the label organic on their products. O Sleep, the certain knot of peace , written by John Keats and Sir Phillip Sidney respectively, contain many similarities and a few distinct differences. They both are about the act of falling to sleep and the many beneficial thing that come from sleeping. Both of these sonnets are also very moving in their exquisite use of an assortment of literary techniques. However, these sonnets differ in the tone in which they are written, the speed at which they are intended to be read, and their rhyme scheme. The British sonnets To Sleep and Come Sleep! The British sonnets To Sleep and Come Sleep! O Sleep, the certain knot of peace contain many similarities. Perhaps the two sonnets greatest common factor is their extensive use of personification. The two authors of these poems both use personification to humanize sleep. Personification is displayed in To Sleep when the narrator calls sleep the soft embalmer of the still midnight (Keats 1). The narrator is bestowing upon the sleep the title of the soft embalmer of the still midnight (Keats 1). It makes sense that reading helps kids at math because if they are good at one subject, then they can be good at multiple subjects. When people read, it can improve their spelling and vocabulary because the more words they read, the more words they could learn. If someone doesn t know a word, then they might look the word up and figure out what the word means. Then they will possibly have learned a new word. Pamela DeLoatch wrote that reading can boost self esteem and communication skills, One educated provider says that since students who read usually have enhanced vocabulary, they can often find the words to express themselves and do not feel as frustrated and angry. The incubation period can range between 7 to 17 days. People are not contagious during this time period. After the incubation period, high fever, chills, severe headache and backache, and general malaise begin to develop. Your body temperature can reach up to 106 degrees Fahrenheit. After 2 to 4 days, a rash emerges first as small red spots on the tongue and in the mouth. The spots develop into sores which spread large amounts of the virus into the mouth and throat. The person becomes most contagious during this phase. Soon after, the smallpox rash appears on exposed portions of the body: the face, forearms, wrists, palms, lower legs, feet, and soles. Usually the rash spreads to all parts of the body within 24 hours. As the rash appears, the fever usually falls and the person may start to feel better. The rash becomes raised bumps on the third day of the rash. The bumps fill with a thick, opaque fluid and often have a depression in the center that looks like a bellybutton. (CDC, 2004). Initially, a slew of misunderstandings between the two characters, stemming from their first encounter at a ball in Meryton, had plagued the relationship, nearly rendering it irreconcilable. They both left that first ball with wildly different interpretations of each other s intentions; Darcy s refusal to dance with Elizabeth instilled her with a budding resentment that would distort her judgement of him until mid way through the novel, while the former character, assured by his pride, viewed her disposition as flirtatious in nature. These conflicting perspectives put them both at cross purposes, but neither realizes this truth until they each embark on a personal journey of self discovery; Elizabeth and Darcy s subsequent realizations better them both, and renders the pair romantically compatible. Elizabeth and Darcy s meeting at Pemberley, the latter character s home, allows the two to showcase their newly transformed personas without the cloud of prejudice. Upon their arrival, Mrs. Reynolds, the housekeeper, greets Elizabeth and her aunt and uncle, the Gardiners. Whether it s their own lives or those around them; Americans are bred with the idea that complete control is possible. This idea is not a new concept for Americans. In fact, Americans have had overinflated ideas about control since we decided that it was necessary for us to control the rest of the nation via Manifest Destiny. The reason that I choose to focus on Americanized control as my final narrative is because it is something that I ve grown familiar with in my life. It s always the same kinds of people buying into it and being lead astray to the troubles that come with having such a strong desire for control. In fact, I was once a believer in that ideology. • 26. Coraline Movie Analysis Camlyn Lewis Megan Green GSW 1110 31 Oct. 2017 Coraline and MK ULTRA The movie Coraline is about Monarch Programming project MK Ultra. MK Ultra was a mind control program created by the CIA. It basically works by submitting the subject to extreme torture to create a second personality, which can be triggered at any time to perform any action required by the handler. This was shown a lot in the movie Captain America: Civil War with the character Bucky Barnes, who was turned into a slave through MK Ultra. The movie Coraline is about a young girl, sharing the name of the film, who is neglected by her family and finds a portal in her new home to a fictional world where her parents have buttons for eyes and spend all of their time on her and love her unconditionally. (SPOILERS) Everything is basically backwards and better in this world. In the end it turns out her other mother wanted to take her eyes and kill her to retain her youth. Coraline escapes from her other mother and all is well. The opening scene of the movie is essentially a symbolic summary of the entire mind control process. It starts with a creepy metal hand and a doll of a little girl. The hand obviously representing the handler, and the doll the subject. First the clothes are removed with scissors, referencing abuse. Then the hair is ripped from the doll s head, a form of very traumatic torture. Then the eyes are ripped out of the doll, which is a very large symbol of MK Ultra type ... Wade (1973): Second Draft Norma McCorvey was a young woman who had dropped out of high school, divorced from her husband, and was raising her five year old daughter with very little money. She tried to obtain an abortion but was unable to under Texas law in 1969. At the time, Texas did not allow women to have abortions unless the mother s life was in danger. McCorvey had no choice but to carry the baby full term and give up the baby she wanted to abort. Her lawyer also introduced her to two recent graduates of the University of Texas Law School, Sarah Weddington and Linda Coffee. The three women decided to challenge the constitutionality of Texas s law and McCorvey became Jane Roe in a test case against Henry Wade, the criminal district attorney for Dallas County, Texas. Wade appealed to the Supreme Court the decision of a three judge federal district court striking down Texas s law. Justice Blackmun finally handed down the Court s opinion on January 23, 1973. The Court s decision was seven to two, and the majority s opinion was announced by Justice Blackmun. Partisanship and Electoral Incentives Tufte (1978) and Hibbs (1987) both argue that there are two principle political influences on macroeconomic policy: partisanship and electoral incentives. However, they differ with regard to the emphasis they place on each influence. While Tufte emphasizes the influence of electoral incentives, Hibbs argues in favor of the influence of partisanship. Franzese s (2002) review of electoral and partisan influences on macroeconomic outcomes suggests that there is more empirical evidence supporting Hibbs assertion. However, he also suggests that there is considerable room for an analysis of context conditional electoral and partisan cycles (Franzese, 2002, p. 369). Similarly to Tufte s explanation, by virtue of their position as policymakers, incumbents have the ability to create and influence macroeconomic policy. With respect to Hibbs partisan explanation, policymakers are able to secure the support of their party and fulfill ideological mandates through the manipulation of macroeconomic policy (Hibbs 1987). Policy Instruments. Policymakers under Hibbs partisan explanation are willing to use both fiscal and monetary policy instruments in order to achieve their goals. While electorally oriented policymakers emphasize fast acting policy instruments in order to localize the effect on the economy around the election, policymakers pursuing a partisan approach could make use of additional fiscal policy instruments. My paper will show how I related to all the myths within a culture and tie them to the real world. Below I will explain how everything turned out and how we came up with out topic for the final project. I think as of now the level of engagement my partners have participated in is very low. We decided we wanted to focus on the Greek culture on April twenty fourth. I contacted them and asked how we wanted to split the work up or even start and I had no responses. Finally at nine on Saturday night one of my group members messaged a link to Google Documents, with only one slide started. I started working on the Google PowerPoint at eleven at night and woke up this morning to see nothing had been added. I went back on around eleven this morning and added new work. A little update to this situation it is now six, nothing has been added, but my work and I have had zero contact with my group. So I will say my group had little engagement in this project, one member did make the Google document, but nothing has been started. I think I learned a lot about my teamwork skills. I am such a perfectionist and like to get things done early. Working with a group makes it challenging, because people had different time schedules. Being in high school, Cher is popular amongst her peers and that in addition to her wealthy background are big parts in upkeeping her lavish lifestyle. And this is confirmed by her father, in the times she makes sure he is eating healthy and taking medication as suggested by their doctor, etc. This suggests the idea that Cher might not be as self centered and naive as she seems. Cher s taking upon the role of caring for her father comes from the obvious lack of a maternal figure in their household. Later, in the narrative Cher finds that she wants to help people and ends up offering the new girl at school a makeover. Whether or not Cher realizes what she had done at that moment, is unknown to the audience. But in suggesting that Tai had character traits that needed changing in order to fit into Beverly hills norms that might differ from ones in the Bronx [where Tai initially is from]. It was that moment that marked the beginning of Tai s assimilation to higher social status. Cher told Tai that they needed to work on that accent , after they changed her hair color amongst other things. This all stems from Cher s presumption that Tai needed help to fit into the new school she was attending, though Tai never asked for their help in the beginning. Ironically, Cher mentions how clueless she thinks Tai is, when she really was the one that had been clueless all long. However, it would be interesting to question Cher s true intentions of that makeover. Because throughout the narrative, Cher and Dionne who would be considered the popular girls , are depicted to be kindhearted and humanitarian. Christmas celebrates the nativity of Christ and it is as diverse as the many countries that observe it, and was a popular subject in the Catholic and Orthodox religious art of the middle ages and Renaissance( The Gift of Holiday Traditions).Hanukkah is celebrated after a miracle occurred when the Jewish people reclaimed their temple from their Seleucid (Macedonian) conquerors Judah s men tried to reconsecrate the Jewish temple by lighting its menorah which is a sacramental lamp. The anthropological literature tackling the topic of romantic love concerns possible factors that make love an integral part of general social structure and marriage in certain societies, such as modes of subsistence dependence, sexual equality and post marital residence rules. One cannot overstate the significance that lies in understanding the relationship between love and marriage, as both are critical elements of humanity. Understanding love as a functioning agent in maintaining marital stability allows us to better understand an important part of who we are as humans. Hence, as a basic building block of human social structure, romantic ·love and its role in the maintenance of society is an incredibly important area of research. Much of the anthropological community agrees that romantic love does constitute a valid area of research, and hopes to repair the general oversight of love that occurred in earlier ethnographic work (Jankowiak 1992 and Fischer 1992). In order to analyze the relationship between romantic love and marriage, it is necessary to compare current thinking with respect to this theme.
