Femicide Bravo Jarez Analysis
This documentary has three main objectives; the first of them explains what femicide is based on
the crimes presented in Ciudad Juarez in order to give a complete overview of this issue, such as
the impunity of the crimes and the high number of cases of women that had been assaulted. In
addition to this, it was considered that more than 1.500 women had disappeared and more than 500
hundred were murdered in that city due to the assaults and acts of violence provoked by men. The
second objective is related to the media and how this phenomenon becomes a well recognized issue
and was highly spread around the country. The last objective and the most important for my
research, explains the causes and motivates for femicide in that country. Some

The Two Endings of Charles Dickens Great Expectations Essay
The Two Endings of Charles Dickens Great Expectations
No novel is complete without a good ending. Although the introductory and middle portions are
important as well, the conclusion is what the reader tends to remember most. When Charles
Dickens wrote Great Expectations, he crafted a work that is truly excellent the whole way through.
From the moment Pip is introduced until he and Estella walk out of the garden in the final chapter,
this book exhibits an uncanny ability to keep the reader wanting more. There is, however, some
debate regarding the final portion of the novel. The ending that Dickens originally wrote for Great
Expectations is noticeably different than the one that was subsequently published. It seems ... Show

Although no mention of past events is made, Pip can tell that Estella had been through misery more
intense than that which he himself had gone through almost ten years prior. This misery, Pip
believes, has enabled Estella to understand the suffering that he had once felt.
Through the years, a number of individuals have argued that this is the best way for the novel to
conclude. These people tend to believe that this ending is more true to the overall tone of the
novel than the revised finale. Great Expectations never exists as a typically happy story. Its plot
is marked by constant disappointment and suffering, which would therefore make the
application of a happy, romantic ending seem rather unnatural. By the end of the story, Pip has
learned a great deal about himself and reached a new level of maturity. He has come to
recognize the mistakes that he had made as a young man and is able to appreciate the
importance of family. No longer is he consumed by a selfish desire for wealth and social status.
Pip s primary motivation for attaining such a gentlemanly status had been his desire to marry
Estella. By the end of the novel, however, Pip s character has been redeemed. He has progressed
beyond the point in his life that was represented by his love for Estella. This deliverance would
then seem to make it impossible for Pip to continue loving Estella. She was a part of his youth;
Pip, however, has become a man.

Difference Between Administrative And Administrative Law
Constitutional and administrative law both govern the affairs of the state. Administrative law, an
area of law that gained early sophistication in France, was until well into this century largely
unrecognized in the United Kingdom as well as the United States. To the early English writers on
administrative law, there was virtually no difference between administrative law and constitutional
law. This is evident from the words of Keith: It is logically impossible to distinguish administrative
from constitutional law and all attempts to do so are artificial. Some jurists like Felix Frankfurter
even went as far as to call it illegitimate and exotic . Due to this lack of clarity, it will be vital to
observe the views of jurists and scholars on the difference between administrative law and
constitutional law. According to Holland, constitutional law describes the various organs of the
government at rest, while administrative law describes them in motion. Holland contends that the
structure of the executive and the legislature comes within the purview of constitutional law
whereas their functioning is governed by administrative law. Jennings puts forward another view,
which says that administrative law deals with the organization, functions, powers and duties of
administrative authorities while constitutional law deals with the general principles relating to the
organization and powers of the various organs of the State and their mutual relationships and
relationship of these

Asexual Reproduction Vs. Desert Grasslands Whiptail Lizard
Asexual or Sexual Reproduction There are many methods of reproduction, but the two main
methods are sexual and asexual, but which one is more efficient or beneficial. Sexual reproduction
is the fusing of two gametes to produce an offspring. This form of reproduction is used by a lot of
organisms, including us. Asexual reproductionis reproduction that only involves one parent. (
Pros and cons of sexual and asexual reproduction ). I am going to focus on asexual reproduction
and the Desert Grassland Whiptail Lizard. This unique lizard uses asexual reproduction. Asexual
reproduction is better for this species of lizards because it only requires one parent, it is less risky,
and the population is only female.

The Life and Times of Claude McKay Essay
The life and Writings of Claude McKay
Introduction
Every literary period can be defined by a group of writers. For the Harlem Renaissance, which was
an extraordinary eruption of creativity among Black Americans in all fields of art, Claude McKay
was the leader. Claude McKay was a major asset to the Harlem Renaissance with his contributions
of such great pieces of writings such as If We Must Die and The Lynching. McKay wrote in many
different styles. His work which vary from dialect verse celebrating peasant life in Jamaica, to
militant poems challenging white authority in the United States, to philosophically ambitious
novels about the effort of blacks to cope in western society ( Claude McKay 1375) ... Show more

These two pieces of writing were published by Walter Jekyll, a publisher who encouraged McKay
to write poetry rooted in Jamaican folk culture and with Jamaican Dialect. These pieces of
writing differed from the traditional form of writing he learned in his schooling, but gave McKay
his first piece of recognition. These two pieces of writing were so successful that they allowed
McKay to be the first black writer to receive the medal from the Jamaican institute of Arts and
Sciences. McKay used the money that he received from this award to go to America to study
agriculture (Masiello 245).
McKay came to the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama to study agriculture but left within two
months. He transferred to Kansas State and stayed there until 1914 when he lost interest in the
field of agriculture and returned to his writing (Masiello 245). McKay then had a few years with
little success, this was when he initially moved to Harlem. In 1914, he married Eulalie Imelda
Edwards, the marriage ended within six months (Ali 201). From 1914 to 1919, McKay was not
very successful as a writer, and only had his work published under the pseudonym Eli Edwards (
Claude McKay 1375). He was also forced to work medial jobs such as a dining car waiter on the
Pennsylvania Railroad. These hard times later rendered the novel Home to Harlem (Hathaway 290).
McKay s situation soon improved;

Urinary Tract Infection Paper
The scope, history, and duration of catheter associated urinary tract infections is reviewed. The
scope of catheter associated urinary tract infections is when an individual acquires an infection that
has been caused by the insertion of a catheter. The individual may have had the catheter in place
for a short period of time and acquired it upon insertion related to the lack of sterile technique.
However, the individual also may have had the catheterin place over a long period of time and
acquired an infection. Roger, Feneley, Hopley, and Wells (2015) explain that the body s natural
flora is disrupted from ascending in the urinary tract and colonizing a bacterial infection during
normal bladder emptying. However, if a catheter is in place this allows for easy ascending bacteria
to colonize and form an infection, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of catheters to empty bladders dates to over 3500 years ago, and Foley indwelling
catheters have been used over the past 80 years (Roger, Feneley, Hopley, and Wells, 2015). The
catheter was first initiated for the use of male, intermittent self catheterization purposes, it was
rigid, and implied for urinary retention (Roger, Feneley, Hopley, and Wells, 2015). Roger, Feneley,
Hopley, and Wells (2015) continue to explain that urinary incontinence was not a pertinent medical
need to address, and it wasn t until a urologist invented the Foley catheter that it was used for these
purposes. However, this intervention is great at assisting to prevent skin breakdown in the elder
population related to the effects of urine in constant contact with the skin, but indwelling catheters
do not come without several other medical problems that can result, as mentioned above (Roger,
Feneley, Hopely, and Wells, 2015). In addition to these problems, Foley indwelling catheters have
been associated with balloon fragments if the balloon bursts and urethral trauma (Roger, Feneley,

According to Seamus Deane, Translations is a play about the tragedy of English Imperialism. How
far would you agree with this statement in relation to both Translations and Heart of Darkness?
INTRO
Although the location, language and structure of Brian Friel s
Translations differs unmistakably from that of Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the topic of
colonisation remains central to both. While the supposed sophistication of civilised colonists is
deconstructed in Conrad s novella to reveal man s common darkness , Friel s play deals with the
ways in which the consciousness of an entire culture is fractured by the transcription of one
landscape (Gaelic, classical and traditional) for another (Anglo Saxon, progressive and ... Show

The name not only retells the anecdote which defined Brian s Well , but also evokes Owen s
memories of his grandfather. The Irish place names had developed into historical, cultural and
social storehouses through their varied associations and values. The reduction of such ontological
knowledge to an epistemological referent through colonial dispossession therefore reduces identity
in an eviction of sorts .
The destructive force of English Imperialism is echoed in Conrad s
Heart of Darkness and is revealed to us through Marlow s portrayal of the Africans he encounters
and the treatment they are subject to.
Forced to work under the conditions of European mechanical labour, the natives acquired
expressions of the deathlike indifference of unhappy savages as they became reduced to nothing
but black shadows of disease and starvation . The civilised colonists place the savages in chain
gangs, enslaving them; eliminating their identities and breaking their spirit as a people.
Throughout the entire novel we, the reader do not learn a single of the Africans names. They are
collectively labelled niggers , creatures , rebels , savages ,
enemies , ants and criminals by the colonisers. Even the individual natives Marlow speaks of
remain unnamed, distant and alien.

A Lecture Hall Is Filled At The Brim With College Students
Imagine this scenario: a lecture hall is filled to the brim with college students, more than half of
the students are either daydreaming about the upcoming weekend or texting on their phones.
Their professor stands in the front of the hall trying to give his prepared lecture, but the majority
of his students are not paying attention. What shall the professor do to motivate his students to
pay attention in class? He announces to them that if they can fully engage themselves in his
lecture for the rest of the class time, he will give them each five dollars. The students are
suddenly all ears, pens ready to take notes, eyes glued to the front of the room, in hopes of
receiving the professor s incentive. Does this seem like a harmless scenario for a desperate
professor to motivate his students? While there are possibly individuals who would agree that the
scenario is not invoking any harm on the students, there are others who would argue that paying
students to try in school takes away their motivationto actually learn. Among the latter stands Alfie
Kohn, author or Punished By Rewards: The Trouble with Gold Stars, Incentive Plans, A s, Praise,
and Other Bribes, who would be appalled by the professor s actions. Kohn s book challenges the
common phenomenon of using rewards in everyday life in dealing with others. With examples
pulled from schools, the workplace, and even households, he demonstrates to his audience that
rewards have become means of controlling one another than as

The Pros And Cons Of The Right To Voting
As citizens of the United States, individuals have the ability to participate in their government. In
various countries, political outcomes are more controlled and their citizens have little to no say in
government decisions. In the U.S. however, as part of a representative democracy, citizens eighteen
and older are granted the right to elect politicians to represent them. From local, to state and then on
to the national level, voters may partake in elections. Although U.S. citizens have the right to vote,
as displayed in the low voter turnout, many American voters do not exercise this right due to an
array of reasons.
In more recent national elections, of the registered voters, only about sixty percent actually
participated in the election by casting a vote. Various aspects affect voting turnout. Some people
are more likely to vote than others because they are registered. While in other democratic countries
citizenship automatically enables people to vote, the U.S is one of the few world democracies that
require registration for individuals who wish to vote (Black). Those that are not registered may be
less encouraged to participate in an election. Although some may argue that registering to vote is a
process that requires only a few steps, numerous amounts of individuals fail to take the first step,
thus they do not end up voting (Black). Another aspect that affect the likelihood of an individual
voting include conflicts in schedules. In the U.S., elections are held on

Out Figurative Language
In this poem, Robert Frost never specifies who the speaker is, but the speaker seems to be a
person observing the events as they happen. When the speaker talks, it isn t from the boy s point
of view, or the sisters. The poem is written third person. The use of the words he shows the poem
is written in third person. One way the poem shows the speaker is an observer is when the
speaker says Call it a day, I wish they might have said to please the boy by giving him the half
hour that a boy counts so much when saved from work. The speaker is talking about how he
wishes the family would have let the boy be done with work for the day. There is a lot of figurative
language in Out, Out. Most of the figurative language is personification, and

The Hard Determinist Does Not Exist
People who believe that we have no free will, that there is no free actions are known as a hard
determinists. In other words, hard determinism is the doctrine that there are no free actions. To
them, everything is casually determined and no one acts freely. The hard determinist does not deny
that it seems that we have free will. What they deny is that the way things seems is the way they
are. Nothing could ever be any other way than the way it is. Choices do not exist, free will does
not exist, and randomness does not exist. What happens depends entirely on the previous
arrangements of its cause and could not be otherwise. Hard determinist argue that all human
actions are casually determined and therefore we act freely and cannot be held morally
responsible for our actions. As an example Bob and Tom are stuck in a room. In one hand, Bob
has chocolate cake and in the other hand, he has an apple, Bob is offering him one. Tom was
given a choice to either choose the chocolate cake or the apple and he chose the chocolate cakes.
To Tom, in his mind, he would say that he chose the chocolate cake on his own free will. If he
wanted to, he could have chosen the apple, nothing forced him to pick the chocolate cake, he
chose it because he wanted it, and he was free to choose either. A hard determinist would say that
his past events made him chose the chocolate cake. Maybe as a child, he was given the sweet
sugary treat more often the healthy fresh apple and because of that reason, he

The Social Gospel Moverment
The Social Gospel The Social Gospel is the idea of social problems being looked and fixed with a
Christian point of view. The Gospel will always stay the same and we should refer the Social
Gospel as living out the Gospel. The goal of the Social Gospel Movement was to tie salvation and
good work together. They thought people should live the life of a JesusChrist. Classes, counseling,
job training and libraries were provided by churches to act according to the Social Gospel. The
origins and issues of the Social Gospel Movement, how the Social Gospel related to a Progressive
Era, the work of Walter Rauschenbusch, and how Social Gospel relates to the Gospel will be
covered in this essay. The Social Gospel started in the early twentieth century as an intellectual
movement. The purpose was to live out The Lord s Prayer during our day to day lives. Social
Gospel applied Christian ethics to social problems like the issues of social justice. A group of
liberal Protestant progressives started the movement because they weren t satisfied with social
problems around them and they did not feel enough was being done to solve the problems. Social
problems associated with rapid industrialization, urbanization, and increasing immigration of the
Gilded Age were the primary concern. The concept of a society that respects elements of justice is
called social justice. Social justice is usually applied to the

Examples Of Mistaken Identity In Twelfth Night
Twelfth Night or What You Will is a comedy written by William Shakespeare in 1601 whereas
the protagonist shipwrecked Viola disguises herself as a man, takes on the name Cesario and
enters the Orsino Duke s service. Orsino attempts to romantically pursue the Countess Olivia. In
spite of all, Viola and Orsino wed whilst Olivia marries Viola s twin brother, Sebastian.
Shakespeare prod issues of transvestism, sexual differences and genderidentity and roles throughout
this play. Shakespeare s comedies were often light hearted and quite funny and continues to
entertain audiences around the world. One main characteristic of his comedies is the use of
mistaken identity such as clever disguises, mixed up twins and gender mix ups. Another... Show

It depicts those who understand enough to perceive it. The subject of the play is the revelation of
the truth where Viola eventually reveals her identity as a woman. Feast of misrule was associated
with Twelfth Nightwhere kings and nobles were to be treated as peasants and peasants as kings
and nobles for the day. This particular festivity was known to be non religious and vulgar. It was
filled with general foolishness and pretences. Shakespeare portrays the description of Epiphany
through the stunts of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Maria and Fabian alongside Feste s humor and
singing. The irony of the feast of misrule is that throughout the play, Feste is seen as the wise
one, as a king and noble would be perhaps, whilst the other characters who were higher in society
acted foolish as if they were servants. The high spiritedness of Epiphany is seen when the
amusement of Maria s letter fools Malvolio into believing Olivia is in love with him. Another
point noting is the facade that is recurring in the celebration is expressed accurately in Viola s plan
to disguise herself as a man. This contradicts social norms of defiance of authority in Shakespearean

Environment And Social Environment
Social environment of an individual is defined by living and working environment of one person
and community characteristics and able to be experienced at numerous scales, frequently at the

Social Cognitive Theory Main Concepts Essay
Social Cognitive Theory Main Concepts: According to the Social Cognitive Theory, people learn by
observation and modeling behavior. Albert Bandura developed the social cognitive theory in 1986.
Bandura believes that people obtain knowledge and how to function by modeling behavior from
others by interacting with others. The main highlight of his theory is that people learn by
observation, imitation and modeling behavior within the social environment (Merriam, 2014)).
Individual remember the consequences associated with individual behavior and used this
information to guide subsequent behavior. For example, an observed action elicits an instinctive
drive to model the behavior. Although the social learning theory states that people learn by
observation, learning does not always lead to aggressive behavior. The social cognitive theory
(SCT) integrates interaction between behavior, personal factor, cognitionand environment which is
referred to as the reciprocal causation model However, Bandura does not suggest that these three
factors contribute to behavior (Bandura, 2012).
Andragogy:
On the other hands, andragogy is a theory developed by Malcolm Shepherd Knowles in 1980 s.
Andragogy focuses on the science of adult learning and self directive learning. The main highlights
of this approach are self concept, learner experience, readiness, orientation, and motivation. In self

Jealousy And Jealousy In Human Behaviour
The concepts of jealousy and envy have been acknowledged as being important characteristics of
human behaviour and can be considered as a mental state that directs an individual s assessment of
a stimulating situation.
The existence of a rival can be particularly threatening because it challenges some aspect of a
person s self definition (Parrott, 1991), hence leaving persons in an emotional triangle between
their self worth and their social valve. Your neighbour pulls up in a sweet new ride. Your co
worker announces she s taking yet another trip abroad. Your best friend upgraded to a bigger
house in a better area of town (Weston 2017). This played seamlessly within the author s first
paragraph of the article, which took a more sympatric approach and depicted a pathos type of
argument, with a benevolent tone. Playing on the readers emotions and captivating their attention
as we all have been exposed to the notion of feeling inferior in comparison to our peers and their
achievements, which induced our level of interest to read on. Psychologists have coined that
jealousy is universal based on its functional mechanism (Dittman 2005), which we can see playing
out with the catching up with the Joneses or utility interdependence mentality that results in
mindless spending as described by Lisa within the article. It was clear in the transformation of the
authors tone and argument from being sympatric to a more candid tone, while depicting the logos
form of argument, with a very stern under tone to readers who are guilty of wasteful spending of
money to match that of their peers, whose underline source of funds in most cases are not
publicised as the public show of their wealth. The author describes vividly the picture of the
foundation that one lives their lavish lifestyle on, that is not seen or understood by the onlooker but
many times the veil is present and the emotion of jealousy is ramped hence no logic is seen and
only emotion is felt.
For most theorists, a defining feature of jealousy is that it requires a social triangle which takes
place when someone perceives that another person (be it real or imaginary) poses a potential threat
to an important interpersonal relationship (e.g., Parrott

different logics that deviate from the norm when it comes to religious ideals: first, Strive after
enlightenment with due diligence. This means you must put a lot of effort into the job of
enlightenment if you wish to achieve it. Second, there will be no metaphysical theorizing. This

God and if you even think that there is a God, you are disgracing the Buddhist way of life.
Buddhism is a way of life, it is not a religion with a holy God. Third, there is no tradition, no ritual.

Satire In The Chasers Internet Degree
Satire is like water, not everyone in the world gets it. Satire is a style of comedy where a serious
issue is told in a light and funny way. Quite often, satire has its moral purpose and is aiming to
provoke changes to the society. This form of humour can be presented to the audience in three
different ways, including a video from The Chasers, image and a written piece by unknown author.
Satirebrings out an amused look at the human foible which result in such way that they become
absurd, even hilarious.
Internet Degree is a satirical video from the Australian television comedy series The Chasers War
on Everything. The Chasers` Chas applies for an online Medical degree for his dog Sonny for
only $450. The purpose of this video is to ridicule about the internet university and how a dog can
get a bachelor degree within seven days whilst others spent years. In this video, satire is displayed
through mimicking the online university degree in an entertaining way. Elements of absurdity is

Identity And Identity In Divergent, By Veronica Roth
How would you feel if the rest of your life was chosen for you based on a simulation? How
would you feel if you were to choose to become brave, honest, selfless, compassionate, or
intelligent? What if the choice you made meant that you would never be able to visit your family
again? In a rigidly structured, dystopian futuristic Chicago in a book called Divergent there is a
young woman named Beatrice Prior ( Tris ) that will make the ultimate choice. This book is written
by Veronica Roth, who writes young adult fiction, specifically the Divergent series followed by
Insurgent and Allegiant. In the book Divergent the characters choices are strongly impacted by the
societies they live in. This society is broken into five factions: Abnegation, Erudite, Candor,
Dauntless, and Amity, each specializing in a specific character trait such as selflessness, bravery,
intelligence, honesty, and compassion. Children are brought up in their own factions, learning the
values of their people, until they turn sixteen where they choose which factionthey ll belong to for
the rest of their life. Tris grew up in Abnegation, where she feels as if she doesn t belong, but at the
age of sixteen, she has to choose which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the book, Tris tries to figure out who she is. But her identity isn t just about what s
inside. It s also about her relationships with family and friends (and society in general). Her main
identity is that she s Divergent. That means no matter how much she tries to fit in, none of the
factions will truly define who she is. As of yesterday, I technically became Dauntless, but I don t
feel like one. And I am not Abnegation, either. I guess I am what I have always been. Not
Dauntless, not Abnegation, not factionless. Divergent. (Roth 205 6) She is forced to make difficult

Analysis Of The Film The Dark Knight
A literary convention is a specific pattern like a repetition of a word, phrase, character, or setting.
They are recurring patterns in particular literary genres and are present in many novels, short
stories, plays, and sonnets. There are many different literary conventions or tropes in the stories that
we have read, but I am choosing to write about the film The Dark Knightby Christopher Nolan.
There are also many within the film, but the one that stuck out most to me was Jokers famous
saying, why so serious? . When he says this his tone of voice is almost angry, or he may even
sound mentally insane. There are two stories from where The Jokersays that the saying why so
serious originates from. The most notable one is that his father was a drunk and killed his
mother. Then his father asks him why so serious , and decides he should have a smile, so he put
a knife in his mouth and cut his face from ear to ear. This phrase and the way that he says it ends
up making people of Gotham more scared then they maybe normally would be. The phrase could
also mean that order will never be contained, that somehow someway chaos will always rise. I
think that by the different stories about his scar, his actions throughout the film, and by his famous
why so serious? phrase, Joker is a psychopath who is mentally deranged, yet maybe not insane, and
somehow he is very intelligent. The phrase is something that occurs very frequently in the movie.
It has also become a very popular saying

High School Dropouts Has Become A Crisis
High School Dropouts
Education is to be known to be the key to success, but high school dropouts have become a crisis.
To get by in today s world education is a must to become economically and financially secure. A
high school dropout or dropout is to be known as an undergraduate that does not complete schooling
before earning a high school diploma. According to Carolyn L. Carlson, an estimate of 7,000 high
school students drop out daily in America (1). Which is 1.2 million a year, when a student
decides to drop out of school before graduating not only will they be affected but so will society.

Everything for a child starts from in the home when a mother or parents are struggling, so is the
child. When a mother or parents are earning less money due to many responsibilities, it puts the
teen as a student at greater risk of dropping out by having fewer resources and gaining stress that
is carried to school and become very distracting. Furthermore, family structure is one of the most
important factors that causes a student to drop out of school because what happens in the
household reflects a student. Another major reason to cause a student to drop out of school is
school structure. School structure is the way the school is built, arranged and organized that
include resources, curriculum, and communication between both schools and students. When a
school structure is negative it most definitely lessons in student achievement. Gary Natriello
highlights that one compelling associate of dropping out of school done by research is the
lessening in student success (601). If a student is not succeeding in their class work and receiving
bad grades it will lower their motivation to strive. In this case, studies are proven to show that
when students do not do well in school, it affects their confidence and lessens the chances of
continuing to try to get greater grades, to just give up and decide to drop out. Students that
frequently obtain lower grades, do not pass subjects, and that are held back a grade increase

Honesty is classified as a noun in part of speech. Honesty has many similar meanings; such as
uprightness, morality, trustworthiness, goodness, scrupulousness, decency, rectitude, righteousness,
fairness, reliability and honor. These synonyms are all equal to truth. The meaning of honesty in
this essay is applied about truth. An example of is could be that Jen is an honest person in the
world, she never lies, respects others, and when she is tempted to cheat on her test, she overcomes
with her power of honesty. This fits the definition about truthfulness in everything.
There is also another different meaning of honesty, such as plants with flat papery seed pods: a
hardy European plant with purplish or white flowers and flat silvery seed pods that are often used
for indoor decoration. Its Latin name is Lunaria annua. It also called silver dollar, money plant, and
satin flower. This meaning is totally different than average people know about the honesty.
Normally people won t think honesty as a plant related thing. Many would be surprised by this
definition. How many would go and say honesty is a beautiful plant?
There can t be a society without any honest people, because that society would

computers as much as larger vehicle mechanics. The only time that a small engine mechanic

Perhaps there is nothing more important than understanding how we communicate if we want to
ensure that we are able to convey our ideas and intent to people across a wide variety of cultures in
a wide variety of settings. Thus, it is vital for me to understand my verbal communication style if I
want to be an effective speaker. After our Encounters class on verbal communication, I was able to
better understand how I communicate with others. I realized that being brought up in a low context
culture, in addition to the fact that I was an immigrant, has made me to be more explicit in my
words than implicit. More often than not, when I communicate, I will try to verbally indicate as
many details and instructions as possible. Conversely, I have difficulty communicating with people
who are more implicit in their verbal communication style if I m not familiar with the culture or
slang, I might interpret their message more literally. Furthermore, when I communicate, I feel as if
I don t consider face as much as other people. I have always emphasized facts and the truth, even
at the cost of losing face. As a result, I am more straightforward in my choice of words. For

Should Kids Compete In Extreme Sports
While some kids stay back and watch, others, like extreme sports competitors, join in and can fly

In 1991 major breakthrough has come in the field of photovoltaic technology known as dye

Thus, numbers of articles devoted to ZnO photoelectrode with the aim of enhancing efficiency by

Description Of A General Strategy
I used a general strategy throughout the entire simulation. Fist I calculated whether to overstock or
understock each of the phone models. Next, I found the demand estimates based on the standard
deviation and the stocking levels of each model. Also, I picked the design features based on the
opinions of the members of my team, or using a consensus forecast. I did however constrain the
number of features so it didn t decrease the uncertainty in demand. The board members all had
different objectives that I took into consideration throughout the simulation.
I used cost as the basis for my decision of production distribution. I gave precedence to on shore
production facilities. Production of both Model A and Model B was distributed in favor... Show

In order to minimize the overstocking, the forecast estimates for Model A were reduced; this caused
continual understocking throughout the year and resulted in no inventory at the end of the year.
The Market Survey was used this year to help successfully estimate the demand.
Similar to year one, a change order was necessary to avoid understocking of Model A.
Year Three
In year three, forecasting was altered to prevent stockout of Model A. As a result, both Model A
and Model B stocks were unutilized.
I did not change order in year three. Looking back, a change order would have helped decrease
production of Model B due to outside factors that foresaw the decrease in demand.
Year Four
During year four, I chose a careful forecast for Model B. The main reason for this was due to the
high standard deviation in forecast demand.
The on shore production facilities had a 100 percent utilization, which meant the demand for Model
B would not increase immediately. Therefore, outsourced facilities had to be utilized, resulting in a
big lead time. Furthermore, I needed to use the extra production facility that I had not used in the
previous years.
In this year, Model B saw a big amount of stockouts, therefore, there had to be a decrease in
production of Model A to make room for Model B; this was not effective.
Final Observations
The simulation was challenging for many reasons.

Methods of Evangelism
Part ONE Evangelistic Method #1
Of the two evangelistic intellectual methods, I have chosen to research the Four Spiritual Laws.
Bill Bright wrote, Just as there are physical laws that govern how the physical universe, so are there
spiritual laws that govern your relationship with God. This method is most used in presenting the
Gospel to someone because it is simpler. Bill Bright, the founder of Campus Crusade for Christ,
originally wrote this as a booklet. This booklet was designed to help individuals to be more
effectual in their witness for Jesus. The Four Spiritual Laws are used to convict, convince, and
convert. The Laws are as followed:
Law 1: God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the most effective way of winning souls. This method should be used on people, whom one
interact with the most, people who know someone and see them on a regular basis. Lifestyle
evangelism creates a nurturing environment to extend an invitation to Christ. This means an
unbeliever will feel a sense of belonging before becoming a believer. Research has shown that a
non believer would be likely to give a believer the opportunity to share their faith, when the
believer s life has proven that their words are sincere, and life altering. In this way, the non
believer would feel a sense of worth before they expose themselves to the Inspired Word.
There are some advantages to using the Lifestyle Relational method. In particular, the Father
sent Jesus to be the absolute light, to be an example, and demonstrate how people of God should
live. We should be living proof that Our Father is who he says he is; that Christ truly is the Son
who freed people from slavery to self; and that the Holy Spirit honestly can transform our life.
This is truly an advantage affirmation. This example of showing is not a substitute for telling. If
words were all we used to explain the gospel, then people would never understand it enough to
submit to Jesus. However, showing a person is a necessary preparation for telling. People will
always buy into your words when your actions back them up. We must live a life that

Final Draft Paper 4
Human Mind Control
OCD is a phrase that gets to the existential core of worry, a clenched, demonic doubting that
overrides evidence, empiricism, plain common sense (Slater234). The meme theory states that a
meme consists of everything that is passed from person to person (Blackmore 37). In Strange
Creatures by Susan Blackmore and Who Holds the Clicker? by Lauren Slater both authors discuss
the control humans have over their minds. In Who Holds the Clicker Lauren Slater discusses DBS
(deep brain simulation), which is a type of psychosurgery in which electrical impulses are sent to
certain portions of the brain to control and change the emotions one feels. She discusses both the
positive and negatives of deep brain simulation through a specific patient named Mario and also
presents the control DBS can have over one s mind. Similarly, Blackmore in Strange Creatures
discusses the meme theory, which consists of any idea that is passed down from person to person.
Both authors provide information that allows people to draw conclusions relating to why people do
not have control over their minds. Even though some people believe that humans do have control
over their minds, Blackmore and Slater both successfully portray that in actuality humans do not
have any control over their minds because human thoughts and ideas are unoriginal products of
external forces, many human thoughts occur at deeper level of consciousness, and

Some of the best visuals in Parker s movie adaptation of Othello were not in the script, the black
and white chess pieces, water, wedding, sea burial, the dagger, and the glimpses of Cassio and
Desdemona together. The chess pieces seem to symbolise Iago s plan to destroy Othello and
Desdemona and also the sea burial later in the movie. Oliver used a lot of fire and water images
throughout the movie, water seemed to represent ill fate, water foreshadows death or something
bad. Desdemona was in the bath the night she was killed and Othello even washed is hands and
face before he killed Desdemona. The fire and light in Oliver s movie seemed to represent safety
and warmth, When Othello is about to kill Desdemona he blows out the candle. The candle
represents Desdemona and how her time to live is coming to an end. Oliver plays with light
through the background, Scenes which involve Desdemona are bright and lit up until her death
and scenes which involve Iago are dark and lack brightness.Othello s clothes were indicators to
his own personal change in the beginning he would wear white and clothes different to the others
but towards the end the clothes he was wearing were black. These colours reflect the moor s
mood at different times of the play. The movie however had some weak points that pulled it away

Essay on Symbolism in William Golding s Lord of the Flies
Symbolism in William Golding s Lord of the Flies renders either through a character, intention, or
theme. The author uses these symbols to have a greater impact on the readers interpretation of the
novel, rather than merely revealing the idea. First and foremost, the beast and its several
manifestations are few of the many signs that support deeper meanings. Furthermore, there is Piggy,
one with intelligence and responsibility and one very important symbol. Finally, there are the two
fires which are vital representations in the novelthat contrasts and demonstrates irony. The use of
symbols does provide a deep elucidation of the novel, but it supports an even more profound
significance for the readers perspectives as well.

The extremity changes from fear of the unfamiliar to absolute anarchy, savagery and eventually
death. When put into universal terms, one can only conceal internal savagery for so long before it
reveals through external actions when given the appropriate opportunity. The fear of the unknown
can be a dominant influence, which can turn to complete madness and insanity if it is not taken
care of properly.
The characters in the story portray particular symbols and signs as well. One character with a
fervent representation is Piggy. Piggy, short, overweight and who wears glasses signifies
intelligence and responsibility. Both his name and persona represents his vulnerability and his
defencelessness just like the actual helpless pigs on the island. The Golding never divulges his
true name to show how order and democracy being easily blinded. In the introduction, Piggy
wants to tell Ralph who he is as he, ...Waited to be asked his name in turn, but proffer of

the children due to the fact that he is indeed obese yet clever. He does not participate in much of
the labour work and hunting because he clings so hard to civilization, and rejects any form of
savagery whatsoever. Piggy and a small amount of the boys are just few who respect the conch, a

Algeria s Cultural Identity And Culture
Algeria is located in North Africa, bordered in the northeast by Tunisia, the east by Libya the
west by Morocco. The north land of Algeria is mountainous and very fertile, while the south is
integrated with parts of the Sahara desert. The desert makes up more than 80% of Algeria.
Algeria is 919,590 square miles making it the second largest country on the African Continent
and the tenth largest country in the world. Culture is comprised of many different elements.
Algeria is rich in culture and has a long history of events that have helped develop the traditions
and culture that they now have today. In this essay, I will cover the ethnic groups that make up
Algeria, languages spoken, religion, family, greetings, food, gender roles and marriage. All of
these factor into Algeria s cultural identity and affect the daily life s of the Algerian people.
Algeria has an estimated population of 31,193,917. It is mainly comprised of two different ethnic
groups, eighty percent Arab and twenty percent Berber. The Berbers are made up of mainly four
different groups; The Kabyles, the Chaouias, the M zabites, and the Tuaregs. Each group of the
Berbers live in separate areas throughout Algeria. The first common language used in Algeria was
Berber. Just like many other languages, the dialect varied depending on which part of the country it
was spoke. The Arabic language, which is predominantly spoken today, was introduced early in
Algeria s history. Along with the Arabic

Gifts On A New Dad s Christmas List Analysis
When I was younger, I was always asked what I wanted for Christmas. It was like clockwork,
every year, around the same time, and I never knew what to say. Don t get me wrong, I thought
about things like shoes, even music, but it always felt like I didn t deserve it. Why should I ask
for something when I don t appreciate the gifts I receive on a daily basis? All the things that
happen in a day that you don t notice, all those things you overlook, are presents, so powerful, we
don t deserve. All the people that you talk to today, may not be there tomorrow. Everyone says
anything can happen but do we fully understand the depth of that statement, how true it can be. The
idea of losing someone without a goodbye is a scary thought, however it s something that happens
daily. So if someone asked me what I want, I would say time.... Show more content on

people in the world are wasting their time getting things for others, things that may be forgotten in a

Analysis of Plato s Allegory of the Cave Essay example
Analysis of Plato s Allegory of the Cave
Plato s Allegory of the Cave presents a vision of humans as slaves chained in front of a fire
observing the shadows of things on the cave wall in front of them. The shadows are the only
reality the slaves know. Plato argues that there is a basic flaw in how we humans mistake our
limited perceptions as reality, truth and goodness. The allegory reveals how that flaw affects our
education, our spirituality and our politics.
The flaw that Plato speaks about is trusting as real, what one sees believing absolutely that what
one sees is true. In The Allegory of the Cave, the slaves in the caves know that the shadows,
thrown on the wall by the fire behind them, are real. If they were to ... Show more content on

The people must teach the others of the reality outside of the cave, outside of the slaves reality.
These are the philosophers. The capacity to learn exists in the soul. Humans need to use their
whole soul to learn, not just use their eyes. Plato writes, the power and capacity of learning exists
in the soul already; and that just as the eye was unable to turn from the darkness to light without the
whole body, so too the instrument of knowledge can only by the movement of the whole soul be
turned from the world of becoming into that of being. (Jacobus 320).
According to Plato, human beings misperception about reality also affects one s spiritual growth.
When the slave makes the ascent and sees the sun, he might mistake it for God. Plato writes, He
will then argue that this [the sun] is he, the guardian of...the visible world...the cause of all things
(Jacobus 318). Having moved from darkness into light, the slave comes to the conclusion that this
bright light must be God. Plato argues that one?s soul holds knowledge of what is true. When one
learns, one simply remembers. People originate from Heaven where they knew the truth. In the
Bible it states, Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by
day (Corinthians II, 4:16). One is renewed day by day by remembering things that their soul knows,
but that they have forgotten.

Real Estate Investment
Real Estate Investment analysis Real Estate has evolved as the most profitable business over the
years for those who can invest heavily in land or property and wait for their increase in value.
However, the property may fetch instant cash in exceptional times like the sudden increase in
value due to market reasons such as experienced just before the global financial credit crunch or
due to the property s unique location. This is classified under the short term type of real estate
investment. The classification is based on the relative time spent to consolidate worth. The long
term type of real estate investment therefore means that the owner has to wait for longer for the
property or land to consolidate worth. (Isaac, 1998).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Development investment types undertake investment with a view to retaining property as an
investment. Purely development companies are developer/traders who sell developments on
completion. Investors usually put importance on certain features such as the quality of the assets
which normally involves examining the age, tenure and location of the properties, the management
quality, sources of income, gearing and capital structure of the company. Real Estate Investment
Trusts (REITs) Real Estate Investment Trusts are companies that buy, sell, develop and manage
property assets. They elect to qualify under certain tax provisions to become owners of property
and mortgages, and to pay dividends without prior deduction of corporate taxes. REITs companies
work as a security and sell their products on all the main stock exchanges in stocks. Money is put
directly into the business through property or mortgage. The main feature as mentioned above is
that they enjoy exclusive tax consideration by the government and the returns to the investor are
higher and easily convertible to cash for the investor compared with other types of investments. It
is ideal for individual investors since they can directly access the stock exchange directly or
through stock broker. In a real estate partnership, different investors come together to invest. Funds

.........An analysis of oppression and resistance in Alice Walker s The Colour Purple (1982) and
Lawrence Hill s The Book of Negroes (2007).
Historically, it is widely known that during times of segregation and the slave industry that
oppression was common towards African Americans and that white supremacy was prominent.
Alice Walker s award winning The Colour Purple (1982) is a narrative, told through the perspective
of a poor, uneducated, African Americannamed Celie, who is writing letters to God. Through her
letters readers learn of her abuse, and her experience with being bought and sold away from home,
far from the ones she loves. With that perspective readers are educated on the trials ... Show more

Readers are educated on the double edged sword of being both black and a female. Walker does
this by by expressing how gender oppression complicates racial oppression. Black female
characters not only had to face slavery and racism but also sexism and abuse, mentally,
physically and sexually. This was encountered by both white and black male characters. The
black males in the novel are portrayed as cruel, as they live in a world where white men rule and
feel like less of a man and because of this they take out their anger and frustration on the black
females. Walker starts her novel with Celie s letter describing the brutal rape by her father.
Walker writes He just say you gonna do what your mammy wouldn t. First he put his thing up
against my hip ... when that hurt I cry. He start to choke me, saying you better shut up and git
used to it. (1) In comparison to the white male characters, Celie s father feel as if he has very
little worth, therefore taking out his frustration on his daughters. Readers learn that Fonso
impregnated Celie twice, disposing of both children, and once he got bored he turned his
attention towards Nettie. Celie is also raped daily by Mr.__. He would try to convince her that
since they are married she is obligated to have sex with him whenever he wants, but when she
wouldn t oblige he would beat her then forcefully rape her. Walker writes Just finish my business,
get off and go to sleep. Mr__ also asserts his male dominance by beating her in front of people.
Walker writes, He beat me today cause he say I winked at a boy in church. I may have got
something in my eye but I didn t wink. I don t even look at mens, I m too scared of them. This
quote shows how fearful Celie is of the male character both black and white. She doesn t say i m
scared of white men , she openly writes of her fear of all men. She s afraid to look or speak with
them as she knows it will result

Migration from Sudan into the United States Essay
Migration from Sudan into the United States In recent years the US has experienced a large influx
of migration. Immigrants come from many different countries, races, religions and for many
different reasons. One group of immigrants that received national attention is a group from Sudan
that has been called The Lost Boys . The reason behind the national attention is due to the dramatic
circumstances that brought them to America. To understand these circumstances it is important to
understand their history. Sudan is the largest country in Africa. It is between two powerful cultural
regions, the Islamic north and the Christian south. Africa has more than 400 languages and dialects.

This Law seriously violated the 1972 peace agreement, forcing the south to adopt Arab culture,
language and the religion of Islam. The Nimeiry government was strengthening Sudan s ties to
Egypt and Saudi Arabia, as economic hardships drew it away from the Soviet Union and closer
to western nations. During the 1980 s, strikes, riots and shortages of goods and services had
devastated the nation. The discovery of natural resources, such as minerals and petroleum that
were discovered in the south added to the problem. Although the discovery of natural reserves
should have helped Sudan s economic situation, it became another source of conflict between the
north and the south over who would control it. The southern forces backed indirectly by the
Soviet Union through Ethiopia reorganized into the Sudan Peoples Liberation Army and rose up
against the North. At this point in the civil unrest, the war took on a religious aspect, fueled by
Nimeiry s implementation of the Sharia, which is Islamic law. In 1986 a coup forced Nimeiry out
of power and he was replaced by a coalition of northern political parties. On 1989 a northern
coalition was overthrown by General Omar al Bashir and Hasan al Tarabi, a fundamentalist leader
of the National Islamic Front. Sudan was turned into an Islamic dictatorship outlawing all other
political parties except the National Islamic

A Brief Look at the Navajo Nation
The times have changed, but the spirit lives on. The Navajo are a Native American tribe that
resides as their own nation in the southwestern part of the United States. The land consists of
desert and mountains, so the Navajo had to learn many skills to live and adapt with the land.
They gathered plants and nuts to eat, hunted animals for meat, and used the skins to keep warm
at night as the temperature in the desert drops to below freezing. As times changed the Navajo
adapted their skills to benefit them. They got herds of goats and sheep and used wool from the
sheep to weave amazing blankets. Today, the Navajo tribe teaches their cultural traditions and
beliefs to their children and followers. They believe nature is sacred and they give thanks to the
animals and plants they use for food. The Navajo passed on their beliefs that the people emerged
into the world to escape a flood in the lower world. The Navajo also tell many stories to show
respect for nature and the spirits and neglect the ones of being treated unlawfully. The Navajo
Nationallows these people to try and maintain the lifestyle that their ancestors lived, with some
modern exceptions. Most Navajo peoplelive on the reservations, but sadly, they are poverty
stricken. However, it is a place where they are sheltered from a growing society. Due to all of this,
the Navajo s unique traditions and beliefs, along with its prior mistreatment, justify the formation of
their own nation.

Liberalism And Human Rights Essay
within the confinements of liberalism and with respect to traditional human rights, however, the
central governments have managed to bypass the creed of liberalism and human rights. 2)
Redrawing the boundaries, or reducing the powers, of internal political subunits controlled by the
national minority; decisions on the boundaries and powers of internal political subunits. Some
liberal democratic states engaged in redrawing boundaries which are within the confinement of
liberalism and the liberal state, but encroaches the rights of national minorities. The central states
draw boundaries to disempower national minorities. For instance, a minoritys territory are divided
into several units to make cohesive political action impossible. For example, the division of France
into 83 departments after the Revolution, which intentionally subdivided the historical regions of
the Basques, Bretons, and other linguistic minorities; or the division of Catalonia region in Spain.
3) Language policies; decisions on official languages. In many liberal democratic states, the
majority language is adopted as official or de facto official languagewhere it is used in government,
bureaucracy, courts, schools, and business. While there are exceptions to this many liberal
democratic states allow for multilingualism yet the policies related to language should be more

Examples Of Logical Fallacies In The Crucible
Logical Fallacies in The Crucible Individuals can connect two varying events to form
assumptions that they base solely on the order of events, known as a post hoc ergo propter hoc
fallacy. Corey Giles states how his wife reading books certainly ties to his ability to pray: and
then she close her book and walks out of the house. And suddenly mark this I could pray again
(Miller 40). Miller shows how individuals can place blame on others with very little proof. This
scene depicts how individuals can believe that events which occur sequentially do not necessarily
have a connection. Therefore, these wrong conclusions can cause individuals to wrongly place
blame on others. Mrs. Putnam recognizes Goody Osburn as a witch because of their past encounters:

Mrs. Putnam assumes the Devil influences her daughter because of her illness: she ails as she must
she never waked this morning, but her eyes open and she walks, and hears naught, sees, naught, and
cannot eat. Her soul is taken, surely (Miller 13). Miller inputs a hasty generalization into this scene
to implicate how quickly individuals can form incorrect conclusions. One must gather multiple
reasons to logically make generalizations. In the play, many individuals accuse others based upon
abrupt criticisms, leading to confusion and miscommunication of information. Giles Corey explains
how others use improbable reasoning for incriminating his wife: he goes to court and claims that
from that day to this he cannot keep a pig alive for more than four weeks because my Martha
bewitch them with her books (Miller 72). Miller portrays how hasty generalizations can cause
wrongful consequences to fall on innocent individuals. Accusations form when people want to find
answers to every dispute, even when they cannot find solutions. As shown in The Crucible,
unevaluated observations can affect others when they mistakenly place blame on

  • 2. Femicide Bravo Jarez Analysis This documentary has three main objectives; the first of them explains what femicide is based on the crimes presented in Ciudad Juarez in order to give a complete overview of this issue, such as the impunity of the crimes and the high number of cases of women that had been assaulted. In addition to this, it was considered that more than 1.500 women had disappeared and more than 500 hundred were murdered in that city due to the assaults and acts of violence provoked by men. The second objective is related to the media and how this phenomenon becomes a well recognized issue and was highly spread around the country. The last objective and the most important for my research, explains the causes and motivates for femicide in that country. Some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Two Endings of Charles Dickens Great Expectations Essay The Two Endings of Charles Dickens Great Expectations No novel is complete without a good ending. Although the introductory and middle portions are important as well, the conclusion is what the reader tends to remember most. When Charles Dickens wrote Great Expectations, he crafted a work that is truly excellent the whole way through. From the moment Pip is introduced until he and Estella walk out of the garden in the final chapter, this book exhibits an uncanny ability to keep the reader wanting more. There is, however, some debate regarding the final portion of the novel. The ending that Dickens originally wrote for Great Expectations is noticeably different than the one that was subsequently published. It seems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although no mention of past events is made, Pip can tell that Estella had been through misery more intense than that which he himself had gone through almost ten years prior. This misery, Pip believes, has enabled Estella to understand the suffering that he had once felt. Through the years, a number of individuals have argued that this is the best way for the novel to conclude. These people tend to believe that this ending is more true to the overall tone of the novel than the revised finale. Great Expectations never exists as a typically happy story. Its plot is marked by constant disappointment and suffering, which would therefore make the application of a happy, romantic ending seem rather unnatural. By the end of the story, Pip has learned a great deal about himself and reached a new level of maturity. He has come to recognize the mistakes that he had made as a young man and is able to appreciate the importance of family. No longer is he consumed by a selfish desire for wealth and social status. Pip s primary motivation for attaining such a gentlemanly status had been his desire to marry Estella. By the end of the novel, however, Pip s character has been redeemed. He has progressed beyond the point in his life that was represented by his love for Estella. This deliverance would then seem to make it impossible for Pip to continue loving Estella. She was a part of his youth; Pip, however, has become a man. Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Difference Between Administrative And Administrative Law Constitutional and administrative law both govern the affairs of the state. Administrative law, an area of law that gained early sophistication in France, was until well into this century largely unrecognized in the United Kingdom as well as the United States. To the early English writers on administrative law, there was virtually no difference between administrative law and constitutional law. This is evident from the words of Keith: It is logically impossible to distinguish administrative from constitutional law and all attempts to do so are artificial. Some jurists like Felix Frankfurter even went as far as to call it illegitimate and exotic . Due to this lack of clarity, it will be vital to observe the views of jurists and scholars on the difference between administrative law and constitutional law. According to Holland, constitutional law describes the various organs of the government at rest, while administrative law describes them in motion. Holland contends that the structure of the executive and the legislature comes within the purview of constitutional law whereas their functioning is governed by administrative law. Jennings puts forward another view, which says that administrative law deals with the organization, functions, powers and duties of administrative authorities while constitutional law deals with the general principles relating to the organization and powers of the various organs of the State and their mutual relationships and relationship of these ... Desert Grasslands Whiptail Lizard Asexual or Sexual Reproduction There are many methods of reproduction, but the two main methods are sexual and asexual, but which one is more efficient or beneficial. Sexual reproduction is the fusing of two gametes to produce an offspring. This form of reproduction is used by a lot of organisms, including us. Asexual reproductionis reproduction that only involves one parent. ( Pros and cons of sexual and asexual reproduction ). I am going to focus on asexual reproduction and the Desert Grassland Whiptail Lizard. This unique lizard uses asexual reproduction. Asexual reproduction is better for this species of lizards because it only requires one parent, it is less risky, and the population is only female. The Desert Grasslands Whiptail Lizard ... • 6. The Life and Times of Claude McKay Essay The life and Writings of Claude McKay Introduction Every literary period can be defined by a group of writers. For the Harlem Renaissance, which was an extraordinary eruption of creativity among Black Americans in all fields of art, Claude McKay was the leader. Claude McKay was a major asset to the Harlem Renaissance with his contributions of such great pieces of writings such as If We Must Die and The Lynching. McKay wrote in many different styles. His work which vary from dialect verse celebrating peasant life in Jamaica, to militant poems challenging white authority in the United States, to philosophically ambitious novels about the effort of blacks to cope in western society ( Claude McKay 1375) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These two pieces of writing were published by Walter Jekyll, a publisher who encouraged McKay to write poetry rooted in Jamaican folk culture and with Jamaican Dialect. These pieces of writing differed from the traditional form of writing he learned in his schooling, but gave McKay his first piece of recognition. These two pieces of writing were so successful that they allowed McKay to be the first black writer to receive the medal from the Jamaican institute of Arts and Sciences. McKay used the money that he received from this award to go to America to study agriculture (Masiello 245). McKay came to the Tuskegee Institute in Alabama to study agriculture but left within two months. He transferred to Kansas State and stayed there until 1914 when he lost interest in the field of agriculture and returned to his writing (Masiello 245). McKay then had a few years with little success, this was when he initially moved to Harlem. In 1914, he married Eulalie Imelda Edwards, the marriage ended within six months (Ali 201). From 1914 to 1919, McKay was not very successful as a writer, and only had his work published under the pseudonym Eli Edwards ( Claude McKay 1375). He was also forced to work medial jobs such as a dining car waiter on the Pennsylvania Railroad. These hard times later rendered the novel Home to Harlem (Hathaway 290). McKay s situation soon improved; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Urinary Tract Infection Paper The scope, history, and duration of catheter associated urinary tract infections is reviewed. The scope of catheter associated urinary tract infections is when an individual acquires an infection that has been caused by the insertion of a catheter. The individual may have had the catheter in place for a short period of time and acquired it upon insertion related to the lack of sterile technique. However, the individual also may have had the catheterin place over a long period of time and acquired an infection. Roger, Feneley, Hopley, and Wells (2015) explain that the body s natural flora is disrupted from ascending in the urinary tract and colonizing a bacterial infection during normal bladder emptying. The use of catheters to empty bladders dates to over 3500 years ago, and Foley indwelling catheters have been used over the past 80 years (Roger, Feneley, Hopley, and Wells, 2015). The catheter was first initiated for the use of male, intermittent self catheterization purposes, it was rigid, and implied for urinary retention (Roger, Feneley, Hopley, and Wells, 2015). Roger, Feneley, Hopley, and Wells (2015) continue to explain that urinary incontinence was not a pertinent medical need to address, and it wasn t until a urologist invented the Foley catheter that it was used for these purposes. However, this intervention is great at assisting to prevent skin breakdown in the elder population related to the effects of urine in constant contact with the skin, but indwelling catheters do not come without several other medical problems that can result, as mentioned above (Roger, Feneley, Hopely, and Wells, 2015). How far would you agree with this statement in relation to both Translations and Heart of Darkness? INTRO Although the location, language and structure of Brian Friel s Translations differs unmistakably from that of Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, the topic of colonisation remains central to both. While the supposed sophistication of civilised colonists is deconstructed in Conrad s novella to reveal man s common darkness , Friel s play deals with the ways in which the consciousness of an entire culture is fractured by the transcription of one landscape (Gaelic, classical and traditional) for another (Anglo Saxon, progressive and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The name not only retells the anecdote which defined Brian s Well , but also evokes Owen s memories of his grandfather. The Irish place names had developed into historical, cultural and social storehouses through their varied associations and values. The reduction of such ontological knowledge to an epistemological referent through colonial dispossession therefore reduces identity in an eviction of sorts . The destructive force of English Imperialism is echoed in Conrad s Heart of Darkness and is revealed to us through Marlow s portrayal of the Africans he encounters and the treatment they are subject to. Forced to work under the conditions of European mechanical labour, the natives acquired expressions of the deathlike indifference of unhappy savages as they became reduced to nothing but black shadows of disease and starvation . The civilised colonists place the savages in chain gangs, enslaving them; eliminating their identities and breaking their spirit as a people. Throughout the entire novel we, the reader do not learn a single of the Africans names. They are collectively labelled niggers , creatures , rebels , savages , enemies , ants and criminals by the colonisers. Even the individual natives Marlow speaks of remain unnamed, distant and alien. • 10. A Lecture Hall Is Filled At The Brim With College Students Imagine this scenario: a lecture hall is filled to the brim with college students, more than half of the students are either daydreaming about the upcoming weekend or texting on their phones. Their professor stands in the front of the hall trying to give his prepared lecture, but the majority of his students are not paying attention. What shall the professor do to motivate his students to pay attention in class? He announces to them that if they can fully engage themselves in his lecture for the rest of the class time, he will give them each five dollars. The students are suddenly all ears, pens ready to take notes, eyes glued to the front of the room, in hopes of receiving the professor s incentive. Does this seem like a harmless scenario for a desperate professor to motivate his students? While there are possibly individuals who would agree that the scenario is not invoking any harm on the students, there are others who would argue that paying students to try in school takes away their motivationto actually learn. Among the latter stands Alfie Kohn, author or Punished By Rewards: The Trouble with Gold Stars, Incentive Plans, A s, Praise, and Other Bribes, who would be appalled by the professor s actions. Kohn s book challenges the common phenomenon of using rewards in everyday life in dealing with others. With examples pulled from schools, the workplace, and even households, he demonstrates to his audience that rewards have become means of controlling one another than as ... • 11. The Pros And Cons Of The Right To Voting As citizens of the United States, individuals have the ability to participate in their government. In various countries, political outcomes are more controlled and their citizens have little to no say in government decisions. In the U.S. however, as part of a representative democracy, citizens eighteen and older are granted the right to elect politicians to represent them. From local, to state and then on to the national level, voters may partake in elections. Although U.S. citizens have the right to vote, as displayed in the low voter turnout, many American voters do not exercise this right due to an array of reasons. In more recent national elections, of the registered voters, only about sixty percent actually participated in the election by casting a vote. Various aspects affect voting turnout. Some people are more likely to vote than others because they are registered. While in other democratic countries citizenship automatically enables people to vote, the U.S is one of the few world democracies that require registration for individuals who wish to vote (Black). Those that are not registered may be less encouraged to participate in an election. Although some may argue that registering to vote is a process that requires only a few steps, numerous amounts of individuals fail to take the first step, thus they do not end up voting (Black). Another aspect that affect the likelihood of an individual voting include conflicts in schedules. In the U.S., elections are held on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the speaker talks, it isn t from the boy s point of view, or the sisters. The poem is written third person. The use of the words he shows the poem is written in third person. One way the poem shows the speaker is an observer is when the speaker says Call it a day, I wish they might have said to please the boy by giving him the half hour that a boy counts so much when saved from work. The speaker is talking about how he wishes the family would have let the boy be done with work for the day. There is a lot of figurative language in Out, Out. The hard determinist does not deny that it seems that we have free will. What they deny is that the way things seems is the way they are. Nothing could ever be any other way than the way it is. Choices do not exist, free will does not exist, and randomness does not exist. What happens depends entirely on the previous arrangements of its cause and could not be otherwise. Hard determinist argue that all human actions are casually determined and therefore we act freely and cannot be held morally responsible for our actions. As an example Bob and Tom are stuck in a room. In one hand, Bob has chocolate cake and in the other hand, he has an apple, Bob is offering him one. Tom was given a choice to either choose the chocolate cake or the apple and he chose the chocolate cakes. To Tom, in his mind, he would say that he chose the chocolate cake on his own free will. If he wanted to, he could have chosen the apple, nothing forced him to pick the chocolate cake, he chose it because he wanted it, and he was free to choose either. A hard determinist would say that his past events made him chose the chocolate cake. Maybe as a child, he was given the sweet sugary treat more often the healthy fresh apple and because of that reason, he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Social Gospel Moverment The Social Gospel The Social Gospel is the idea of social problems being looked and fixed with a Christian point of view. The Gospel will always stay the same and we should refer the Social Gospel as living out the Gospel. The goal of the Social Gospel Movement was to tie salvation and good work together. They thought people should live the life of a JesusChrist. Classes, counseling, job training and libraries were provided by churches to act according to the Social Gospel. The origins and issues of the Social Gospel Movement, how the Social Gospel related to a Progressive Era, the work of Walter Rauschenbusch, and how Social Gospel relates to the Gospel will be covered in this essay. The Social Gospel started in the early twentieth century as an intellectual movement. The purpose was to live out The Lord s Prayer during our day to day lives. Social Gospel applied Christian ethics to social problems like the issues of social justice. A group of liberal Protestant progressives started the movement because they weren t satisfied with social problems around them and they did not feel enough was being done to solve the problems. Social problems associated with rapid industrialization, urbanization, and increasing immigration of the Gilded Age were the primary concern. The concept of a society that respects elements of justice is called social justice. Social justice is usually applied to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It depicts those who understand enough to perceive it. The subject of the play is the revelation of the truth where Viola eventually reveals her identity as a woman. Feast of misrule was associated with Twelfth Nightwhere kings and nobles were to be treated as peasants and peasants as kings and nobles for the day. This particular festivity was known to be non religious and vulgar. It was filled with general foolishness and pretences. Shakespeare portrays the description of Epiphany through the stunts of Sir Toby, Sir Andrew, Maria and Fabian alongside Feste s humor and singing. The irony of the feast of misrule is that throughout the play, Feste is seen as the wise one, as a king and noble would be perhaps, whilst the other characters who were higher in society acted foolish as if they were servants. The high spiritedness of Epiphany is seen when the amusement of Maria s letter fools Malvolio into believing Olivia is in love with him. • 19. Social Cognitive Theory Main Concepts Essay Social Cognitive Theory Main Concepts: According to the Social Cognitive Theory, people learn by observation and modeling behavior. Albert Bandura developed the social cognitive theory in 1986. Bandura believes that people obtain knowledge and how to function by modeling behavior from others by interacting with others. The main highlight of his theory is that people learn by observation, imitation and modeling behavior within the social environment (Merriam, 2014)). Individual remember the consequences associated with individual behavior and used this information to guide subsequent behavior. For example, an observed action elicits an instinctive drive to model the behavior. Although the social learning theory states that people learn by observation, learning does not always lead to aggressive behavior. The social cognitive theory (SCT) integrates interaction between behavior, personal factor, cognitionand environment which is referred to as the reciprocal causation model However, Bandura does not suggest that these three factors contribute to behavior (Bandura, 2012). Andragogy: On the other hands, andragogy is a theory developed by Malcolm Shepherd Knowles in 1980 s. Andragogy focuses on the science of adult learning and self directive learning. • 20. Jealousy And Jealousy In Human Behaviour The concepts of jealousy and envy have been acknowledged as being important characteristics of human behaviour and can be considered as a mental state that directs an individual s assessment of a stimulating situation. The existence of a rival can be particularly threatening because it challenges some aspect of a person s self definition (Parrott, 1991), hence leaving persons in an emotional triangle between their self worth and their social valve. Your neighbour pulls up in a sweet new ride. Your co worker announces she s taking yet another trip abroad. Your best friend upgraded to a bigger house in a better area of town (Weston 2017). This played seamlessly within the author s first paragraph of the article, which took a more sympatric approach and depicted a pathos type of argument, with a benevolent tone. Playing on the readers emotions and captivating their attention as we all have been exposed to the notion of feeling inferior in comparison to our peers and their achievements, which induced our level of interest to read on. Psychologists have coined that jealousy is universal based on its functional mechanism (Dittman 2005), which we can see playing out with the catching up with the Joneses or utility interdependence mentality that results in mindless spending as described by Lisa within the article. It was clear in the transformation of the authors tone and argument from being sympatric to a more candid tone, while depicting the logos form of argument, with a very stern under tone to readers who are guilty of wasteful spending of money to match that of their peers, whose underline source of funds in most cases are not publicised as the public show of their wealth. The author describes vividly the picture of the foundation that one lives their lavish lifestyle on, that is not seen or understood by the onlooker but many times the veil is present and the emotion of jealousy is ramped hence no logic is seen and only emotion is felt. For most theorists, a defining feature of jealousy is that it requires a social triangle which takes place when someone perceives that another person (be it real or imaginary) poses a potential threat to an important interpersonal relationship (e.g., Parrott ... There are many different literary conventions or tropes in the stories that we have read, but I am choosing to write about the film The Dark Knightby Christopher Nolan. There are also many within the film, but the one that stuck out most to me was Jokers famous saying, why so serious? . When he says this his tone of voice is almost angry, or he may even sound mentally insane. There are two stories from where The Jokersays that the saying why so serious originates from. The most notable one is that his father was a drunk and killed his mother. Then his father asks him why so serious , and decides he should have a smile, so he put a knife in his mouth and cut his face from ear to ear. This phrase and the way that he says it ends up making people of Gotham more scared then they maybe normally would be. The phrase could also mean that order will never be contained, that somehow someway chaos will always rise. I think that by the different stories about his scar, his actions throughout the film, and by his famous why so serious? phrase, Joker is a psychopath who is mentally deranged, yet maybe not insane, and somehow he is very intelligent. When a mother or parents are earning less money due to many responsibilities, it puts the teen as a student at greater risk of dropping out by having fewer resources and gaining stress that is carried to school and become very distracting. Furthermore, family structure is one of the most important factors that causes a student to drop out of school because what happens in the household reflects a student. Another major reason to cause a student to drop out of school is school structure. School structure is the way the school is built, arranged and organized that include resources, curriculum, and communication between both schools and students. When a school structure is negative it most definitely lessons in student achievement. Gary Natriello highlights that one compelling associate of dropping out of school done by research is the lessening in student success (601). The truth is that some of these competitors are children. Children should compete in extreme sports because their gain is greater than their risk. The thrill is not the only thing they get out of the experience, they gain in mental health. Lauren Tarshis, the author of Should Kids Do Extreme Sports? , tells the story of Jett,a seventh grader injured while trying to master a trick on a skateboard.During his practice to get it right, he fell and almost died. His injury later healed and he went back to pushing the limits. According to Tarshis, Jett s coach and father,Geoff, says that his son has acquired grit to help him in school and avoid drugs or alcohol. Geoff says it has helped him find passion and identity. This changes extreme sports athletes into becoming stronger on the inside. This proves that the outcomes of extreme sports can improve kids in various ways.... This kind of solar cells is low cost and simple functioning together with their advantageous characteristics (e.g. lightweight, flexible, low toxicity and good performance in diverse light conditions) [2]. Usually consists of dye adsorbed nanostructured metal oxide film served as a photoanode, a Pt coated counter electrode and liquid electrolyte injected between them [3]. Next, I found the demand estimates based on the standard deviation and the stocking levels of each model. Also, I picked the design features based on the opinions of the members of my team, or using a consensus forecast. I did however constrain the number of features so it didn t decrease the uncertainty in demand. In order to minimize the overstocking, the forecast estimates for Model A were reduced; this caused continual understocking throughout the year and resulted in no inventory at the end of the year. The Market Survey was used this year to help successfully estimate the demand. Similar to year one, a change order was necessary to avoid understocking of Model A. Year Three In year three, forecasting was altered to prevent stockout of Model A. As a result, both Model A and Model B stocks were unutilized. I did not change order in year three. Looking back, a change order would have helped decrease production of Model B due to outside factors that foresaw the decrease in demand. Year Four During year four, I chose a careful forecast for Model B. The main reason for this was due to the high standard deviation in forecast demand. The on shore production facilities had a 100 percent utilization, which meant the demand for Model B would not increase immediately. Therefore, outsourced facilities had to be utilized, resulting in a big lead time. Furthermore, I needed to use the extra production facility that I had not used in the previous years. In this year, Model B saw a big amount of stockouts, therefore, there had to be a decrease in production of Model A to make room for Model B; this was not effective. This method should be used on people, whom one interact with the most, people who know someone and see them on a regular basis. Lifestyle evangelism creates a nurturing environment to extend an invitation to Christ. This means an unbeliever will feel a sense of belonging before becoming a believer. Research has shown that a non believer would be likely to give a believer the opportunity to share their faith, when the believer s life has proven that their words are sincere, and life altering. In this way, the non believer would feel a sense of worth before they expose themselves to the Inspired Word. There are some advantages to using the Lifestyle Relational method. In particular, the Father sent Jesus to be the absolute light, to be an example, and demonstrate how people of God should live. We should be living proof that Our Father is who he says he is; that Christ truly is the Son who freed people from slavery to self; and that the Holy Spirit honestly can transform our life. Sanjana Mamidi Section 28 Final Draft Paper 4 Human Mind Control OCD is a phrase that gets to the existential core of worry, a clenched, demonic doubting that overrides evidence, empiricism, plain common sense (Slater234). The meme theory states that a meme consists of everything that is passed from person to person (Blackmore 37). In Strange Creatures by Susan Blackmore and Who Holds the Clicker? by Lauren Slater both authors discuss the control humans have over their minds. In Who Holds the Clicker Lauren Slater discusses DBS (deep brain simulation), which is a type of psychosurgery in which electrical impulses are sent to certain portions of the brain to control and change the emotions one feels. She discusses both the positive and negatives of deep brain simulation through a specific patient named Mario and also presents the control DBS can have over one s mind. Similarly, Blackmore in Strange Creatures discusses the meme theory, which consists of any idea that is passed down from person to person. Both authors provide information that allows people to draw conclusions relating to why people do not have control over their minds. Even though some people believe that humans do have control over their minds, Blackmore and Slater both successfully portray that in actuality humans do not have any control over their minds because human thoughts and ideas are unoriginal products of external forces, many human thoughts occur at deeper level of consciousness, and ... Accusations form when people want to find answers to every dispute, even when they cannot find solutions. As shown in The Crucible, unevaluated observations can affect others when they mistakenly place blame on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
