The New Tax Law Through President Obama s Term, Congress
With possibly the last changes to the tax law through President Obama s term, Congress agrees
on making many of the Tax Extenders permanent. These so called Tax Extenders are tax
provisions that Congress has passed over the past few years with short term expiration dates, at
which point the provision would lapse. Typically, after the provision lapsed, Congress would
retroactively reinstate the provisions, thus extending its life through the current tax year. This
has led to some tax planners relying on the hopes that Congress will reinstate these provisions,
without the explicit knowledge that they would do so. Therefore, the now permanent provisions
(those that have been extended without a set expiration date) are able to give tax planning
professionals more certainty in their projections. The act made several changes to Section 529
Plans alongside with these extenders . The chart below briefly summarizes the new tax law
changes from the PATH Act of 2015 that most closely affect individuals and small businesses. It
should be noted that this does not encompass all aspects of the act, as there are several changes
that apply to larger corporations, IRS reform, and the prevention of fraud and abuse. *Adapted

The Ottoman Empire And The Safavid Empire
The Middle East is known for their notorious empires that impacted how our society is constructed
up to date. Two of the most famous empires are the Ottoman Empire and the Safavid Empire. Both
empires have characteristics that both famously led to the success of each empire and infamous
characteristics which ultimately led to the demise of the empire.
To begin with, the Ottoman Empire was initially founded in the fourteenth century by a Sunni
Muslim named Osman I. From the very beginning one of the number one goals of the Ottoman
Empire was to expand. One of the ways that the Ottomans expanded their empire was with a strong
military. Due to this fact, they gained popularity. Moreover, another one of the biggest keys to the
success of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Safavid Empire s case Turkic leaders attempted many times to overthrow the shah. Much
like Janissaries in the Ottoman Empire the Safavid Empire had young Christian born males as
slaves that were forced to serve and protect the shah at all costs. The difference between the two
is that Janissaries were of the Ottoman Empire, while in the Safavid Empire the young male
slaves were not of the Safavid Empire. Since the people of the Safavid Empire were strictly Shi a
Muslims the young male slaves were converted and brought up as Shi a Muslims. Ultimately, they
positively contributed to the Safavid Empire by adding loyal subjects. Unlike the Ottoman Empire
the Safavid Empire was a theocracy. All in all, while the Safavid Empire did not last nearly as long
as the Ottoman Empire, which ended in the 1700 s, the Safavid Empire was unique and famously
remembered for its cultural impact.
The demise of the Ottoman Empire began in the early twentieth century. The world was beginning
to become more industrialized and because of that economies were rapidly changing. The sultans
were not prone to taking this into consideration and firmly believed that since the Ottoman Empire
survived that long just as it was then there was no need to reinvent themselves by becoming more
industrialized. Inevitably, economic hardship fell upon the

Shakespeare And The World Of Hamlet
The world of Hamlet and the world of its playwright, William Shakespeare, are similar in many
aspects such as politics and the way women are treated. Another similarity of both worlds is the
education system. It is known that Prince Hamlet attends the University of Wittenberg as King
Cladius and Queen Gertrude are against Hamlets return to Wittenberg, stating that [i]t is most
retrograde to [their] desire (Shakespeare I.ii.114). The fact that Hamlet, Prince of Denmark,
attends university shows that the world of Hamlet, without a doubt, resembles Shakespeare s
world. This is because in Shakespeare s world, university is only available to the males of noble
and royal families for only they have enough time and money to learn (Elizabethan Era

Development, Development And Development Of Eggs To Infants
By introducing eggs to infants starting at six months, the baby will have a higher blood
concentration of choline, other biomarkers in the choline pathways, and docosahexaenoic acid.
These are key nutrients that will help develop in the child better brains.
Eggs, similar to milk or seeds, support the early growth and development of an organism. It is also
dense in nutrient content such as choline that acts like vitamin B and DHA, an omega 3 fatty acid
which serves as a structural component of the brain and plays key roles in the development and
function of infant s brain.

However, with new knowledge that the cholesterol in the egg yolk does not transfer over to the
body and cause cholesterol levels to go up, the training menu brought back the whole eggs for
bodybuilders.
A new study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, said that egg yolks are
actually better for building muscle after a workout compared to the same amount of egg whites. In
the research, 18 young men were given an 18 gram serving of protein from egg yolks or egg
whites after they had one weightlifting session.
Researchers took the blood samples and muscle biopsies of the 18 to track their muscle protein
synthesis. Those who were given the egg yolks registered a 40 percent greater post exercise
response in building new muscle than the men given the egg whites.
Nicholas Burd, a professor of kinesiology and community health at the University of Illinois, said
that research shows more protein is needed in the diet than once thought to maintain health. He
observed a lot of stress on protein nutrition in modern society.
Burd said that as the world population grows, there is a need for cost effective and sustainable
strategies to improve the use of protein in the diet. He said that the study showed consuming egg
protein in its natural matrix has a greater benefit than getting isolated from the same source.

Homeless People In The Homeless Society
The homeless population in the U.S. does not only consider the humans out on the streets, but also
the ones in emergency shelters, transitional housing, in cars, and more. Over six hundred thousand
individuals are currently homeless in the United States. In our current society, people often become
homeless due to circumstances beyond their control. Such as individuals that identify as LGBTQ,
victims of domestic violence, and unaffordable housing throughout America. Different sets of
problems and issues have arisen over time for the homeless individuals as our world continues to
advance and grow day to day. The LGBTQ identified students face more than no home, but lifelong
hardships. After coming outto his parents that he was gay, Michael Miller couch surfed among
friends and teachers his whole senior year in High School(Clemmitt 318 ). Being denied in his
family, left Michael with no home and neglection. This issue of no acceptance between these
families is leaving a strong impact of no self confidence or trust within these students. Furthermore
the rejection throughout these families because of the students sexual orientationis leaving these
young adults homeless. Not to mention, our society has learned to become more accepting and
welcoming to the LGBTQ community. This not only gives courage to these kids to come out to
their families, but develops the instinct that this place called home is somewhere where they should
be accepted and loved for who they are.

Cultural Analysis Assignment
When I began this assignment, I knew I wanted to try out a culture I know practically nothing
about. I love Chinese and Japanese food, so I decided to turn in the direction of sitting at a
restaurant with Chinese/Asian cuisine. This was a simple sit down dinner that did not occur on
any special day like holidays. The setting that I chose was a Cantonese restaurant located in
Elmwood Park called New Star Restaurant . While I walked in, I noticed a variety of gift items
such as porcelain turtles, buddhas, Maneki Neko(welcoming cat), pandas, etc. There was a lot of
red and gold decor in the interior of the restaurant. The people of this culture are very strong
believers in good fortune, good health, and family. The red means success in relationships... Show

I have people in my family that have many negative perceptions about the asian culture. For
example, I have a family member that refuses to eat Chinese food out of fear of eating dog meat.
This is very irrational, and I do not have perceptions like these. In my own culture, we eat mostly
with our without hands. I have had a server bring me a washcloth to wash my hands before I
start eating to prevent bacterial contamination. I still noticed the integrity within this culture and
my own. I have met some amazing servers, and this one was no exception. I think the foods are
very different, but they do not mean one culture is better than the other. I do have the option to
display my own ethnicity in some situations because it can be uncomfortable to expose my
differences in certain environments. It can be because of danger or fear of being out of my
comfort zone. I think my ethnicity is not as strongly expressed as the one I observed because
my culture is much more minimal. We are not into attention to detail, or large displays of
culture. I feel that it is more likely to move away from expressing these aspects of our social
identity because in modern day, people are targeted for their differences. I think this is influenced
by leaders in power that generate a reason for hate among all those that are not Caucasian. By this,
I mean president Donald Trump and his administration. I think that as he continued to stir up
emotions of hate, people will be less likely to want to be who they are and display their culture

The Gilded Age Of America
Throughout history, America was faced with many problems socially, economically, politically,
and technologically. But America has also experienced many great successes in these areas as
well. Some opportunities were seized, while others were wasted. We can learn from our past
failures and successes and take what we have learned from them forward with us into the future, to
help build and maintain a better America. The Gilded Age, during the late 1800 s, was a time in
America where we experienced explosive economic growth, serious social problems, new
innovative technology, and the rise of corporations and corruption in politics. We have learned
from some of these things that we went through in the Gilded Age and fixed them, but we are still
facing some of the problems we faced back then, today. During the Gilded Age, America
experienced many economic and technological successes. For example, the second industrial
revolution helped America achieve huge economic success. The country enjoyed a surplus of
natural resources, an expanding supply of labor, a growing market for manufactured goods, as
well as the availability of capital for investment. There were many other factors contributing to the
rapid economic growth during the Gilded Age. The expansion of railroads were one of these
contributing factors. From 1860 to 1880, the number of miles of railroad tracks tripled in the United
States, stemming from private investment and large grants of money and land by the

Ambiguism In The Demon Lover By Elizabeth Bowen
The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen s is set in London during World War II. Bowen adopts a
common folklore theme of the demon lover in her short story in which a woman is left
traumatized during the blitz in World War II. The story follows a married middle age woman
who is haunted by the ghost of her love from her youth. This ghost was known to be killed in the
First World War nearly twenty five years earlier. Bowens focuses on the atmosphere to create a
disturbing ambiguity leading to many interpretations to what seems like a simple ghost story; the
reader wonders if the ghost is a supernatural body or a disquieting delusion that Mrs. Drover
observes. The main message conveyed in this story is that no bad deed goes unpunished. Mrs.
Drover;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bowen then uses a flashback to link this letter to the dead fiance. Mrs. Drover thinks back to her
former nameless fiance who went off to fight during World War I and was presumably killed,
this vision reinforces the sense of him potentially being the demon lover of the title. She is
keenly aware of her surroundings after reading this letter: the atmosphere such as the striking of
the clock, the weather, and particularly, a sense of strangeness. The letter lying on the table
compels her to imagine the various possibilities for how the letter got there in the first place. She
believes the letter written by K is some sort of threat from a ghost. This letter greatly unnerves
her and she rushes upstairs and begins to pack her things. She then rushes into a taxi only to see
the face of the driver as her demon lover, she begins to scream and pound the glass between
them. Perhaps the driver of the taxi Akca, 2 was the soldier, incarnated as a demon has come to
retrieve the damned Mrs. Drover. In addition, it can be thought of as the ghost of World War I
coming back to haunt World War II. The setting is that of the empty streets of London, the
inhabitants had all fled their homes to escape the destruction that came with war. There is a

U.s. Military Regime And Its Policies
Since General Ne Win s seizure of power in 1962, the military regime controlling Myanmar has
called itself many things. Throughout the 1960s to 80s, it was the Burmese Socialist Programme
Party; during the late 80s to 90s, it was State Peace and Development Council; and in the present
day they re known as the State Law and Order Restoration Council. Though each of these different
names represent a different era of Burmese military control, with different policies and different
political dynamics, one thing is for certain: no matter the name, figurative political head, or
purported change in objectives, the military regime is still firmly entrenched into the country s
political workings and they wish to keep it this way. As the Burmese people look to the future, this
is the biggest and most obvious obstacle standing in the way of progress. There is much debate and
discussion amongst the international community and within Myanmar itself as to how the Burmese
should move forward, but it is unanimous that the problem lies fundamentally with the military
regime and its policies. Aung San Suu Kyiand her National League for Democracy seek to solve
this problem through the ousting of the State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC). She
chooses to do this not through an insurgency lead coup d etat or mass uprising, but rather through
political maneuvership that promotes democratization (i.e. meaningful citizen representation in
parliament), constitutional reforms, and

What Role Do The Witches Play In Macbeth
The witches play a vital role in Macbeth; they all have supernatural powers in which they use to

untie the winds and let them fight Against the churches, though the yeasty waves Confound and

In the Greek mythology, these sisters are the ones who create and destroy the life of a person, in
Macbeth they play with Macbeth s destiny giving him overconfidence. Clotho was the youngest of

Macbeth was written in The Middle Ages. Shakespeare was inspired by England and Scotland. He
also uses many literary devices like foreshadowing. A perfect example is when Macbeth hears a
voice while he is killing King Duncan. It foreshadows the insomnia that plagues Lady Macbeth
and Macbeth. Another literary device is situational and dramatic irony. When Lady Macbeth dies,
the reader expects that Macbeth is going to suicide or to get crazy because it was his wife and the
one whom he could relieve his conscious, but he just stays calm and denies that death is normal in
life. Dramatic Irony is used many times specifically with all the witches prophecies foreshadowing

Essay Electable or Not, Trump is Good for America
There are seven hopefuls who are likely going to formally announce their candidacy for the
Republican presidential nomination in 2012, within the next week and many more who are
contemplating a run. None of them invoke an emotional, if not polarizing response quite like The
Donald. It is early yet, but the only Republican hopeful who has broken from the reserved, almost
polite rhetoric of the early stump speeches in Iowa and New Hampshire, and the government as
usual policy discussions on the Sunday media carousel, has been Donald Trump. By removing the
shackles of political correctness and media speak, Mr. Trump tossed a few verbal hand grenades

The subject of President Obama s birth certificate has been mostly off limits for those who wish to
avoid the wrath of the Obama friendly media. Refreshingly, Trump is facing the Obama media head
on, with his questions about why the president has spent so much money and time keeping his birth
certificate, college records, and health records from the public eye. Trump not only asks these
questions of the president, but he asks mainstream reporters why they have not been the least bit
interested in vetting Barack Obama as thoroughly as they have other presidential candidates. With
Donald Trump the best defense is a good offense, and that is a strategy the other Republican
hopefuls had better understand this time. Why is the Tea Party now playing such a vital role in
American Politics? Its members are angry and fed up with both parties they have reached a tipping
point on the size of the Federal Government. They have grown tired of politicians playing footsie
with the media, and they are tired of politicians compromising on the future of this once great
nation. Trump echoes these concerns better than the so called frontrunners; he

The Human Resource department continues to be challenged with the grooming policies that are
in place in many organizations. In the case of Mr. Polk, he is much like many others that want to
be able to express themselves in representation of their beliefs. However, he did violate the
grooming policy and to allow him to be in violation is a reverse discriminationto others that stay in
compliance. In this situation, Fedex clearly had a grooming policy of reasonable style (Bernadine
Joyce, 2012). According to the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission, preferential treatment
can not be given to an employee on the basis of race, color, religion, sex and national origin

Introduction
Quality and safety of care are the biggest goals of every health care organization. A risk to the
patient, healthcare professional and the organization are prevalent in health care settings, which can
be minimized and prevented by having well trained and educated risk management team within the
organization. Risk management is the systematic effort to reduce an incidence of preventable
accidents, which not only prevents the injuries and financial loss but also ensures that quality of
services and quality of health care are in optimal level for all patients (Alexander Kavaler, 2014).
The purpose of the risk management program is to investigate the potential risk factors before they
threat to the patients, health care professionals and the organization (Alexander Kavaler, 2014).
This paper will discuss about the elements of risk management program. Also, a paper will explain
regarding the steps of presenting a risk management program for new employees, compliance with

Analysis Of As I Lay Dying
People are motivated and mostly driven by fears, desires, needs, wants and many times, conflicts
of which they are completely unaware. In the story, by William Faulkner, As I lay Dying, the
Bundren family suffers the loss of Addie Bundren a beloved wife and mother. In honoring Addie s
last wish, the Bundrens make the trip to Jefferson to bury her with her relatives. During the trip
every thing that could go wrong does. This story is told from plentiful points of view and reveals
the completely unstable psychological state of the Bundren family. Through a psychoanalytical
approach of William Faulkners As I Lay Dying, readers will see that Faulkner uses characterization
to demonstrate the instability of the Bundren family.

His second try to enlist in the military, Faulkner was accepted into the British army, however he
never saw combat even though he made people around him believe that he had. Coming back
from the war, Faulkner also decided to go back to school; even after dropping out several times
before. Short lived, Faulkner dropped out for the last time ( William Faulkner , 3). He picked up
several odd jobs and began to binge drink and had many stays at Wright s Sanatarium, a nursing
home facility in Byhalia, Mississippi ( William Faulkner , 8). Throughout these times of turmoil
in his life, he maintained writing. In December of nineteen fifty (Faulkner was about 53) he was
awarded the Nobel Prize for literature of the year in nineteen forty nine ( William Faulkner 13).
On December 10, he delivered his acceptance speech to the academy in a voice so low and rapid
that few could make out what he was saying, but when his words were published in the
newspaper the following day, it was recognized for its brilliance; in later years, Faulkner s speech
would be lauded as the best speech ever given at a Nobel ceremony ( William Faulkner 13). As the
years passed, Faulkner s life and psychological state increased, allowing him to expand his
knowledge. Meanwhile, however, Faulkner s internal struggle continued, ironically similar to the

What are Quality Systems, Products, Processes and...
Answer No 1: Distinguishing a solitary exhaustive meaning of quality is a testing attempt. Quality
is a multidimensional idea that includes; entomb alia, the solidness, dependability, area, outline
and tasteful claim, execution and wellbeing of an item. Item decision can additionally be dealt
with as a quality characteristic, despite the fact that it stays dissociable from the singular item
itself. Basically, quality is a relative idea, insofar as the level of value found in any one item is
characterized by reference to the quality levels of different items. Quality consolidates a huge
component of subjectivity, in light of the fact that certain quality perspectives may be significant
just to a few purchasers, or more profitable to some... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For comparative reasons the relationship between quality and costs is likewise to a degree vague.
These discoveries underline the way that the evaluation of value in connection to competition
must be directed on a case by case premise. The relationship between quality and the level of
competition inside a business is unverifiable and obscure both in principle and practice, a
characteristic that has a tendency to convolute the errand of including quality contemplations
inside any rival dissection. Dissimilar to costs, which by and large fall as competition increments,
expanded competition can either cause quality levels to climb, if firms start to contend all the
more overwhelmingly in connection to quality traits, or to fall, if the need to diminish costs
prompts an associative decrease in quality as handling expenses are cut. Therefore the relationship
between quality and competition is likewise to some degree uncertain, and needy upon the specific
business sector powers at issue. Answer No 2: Introduction Most organizations work in aggressive
markets: they need to assume and see off opponents. Every association must choose for itself how
best to attempt and do this. Not all organizations think of the same answer and for great reason.

play to their qualities and not all organizations have the same qualities. Thirdly, numerous markets

Affective Context Effect
Another prominent bias characterizing anxiety is in interpretation or processing of the uncertain
and the unknown. We encounter ambiguous situations in our life daily, but what differs is our
subjective interpretation and processing of that situation. Anxious individuals find themselves to be
uneasy all the time, the main culprits being their thoughts and perceptions about themselves and the
world, which are revealed by the way they process and resolve ambiguity. In an ambiguous
situation, processing in anxietycould be mood congruent or context related (Richards, Holmes, Pell
Bethell, 2013). Bower (1981) and Blanchette, Richards and Cross, (2007) have found evidence for
mood congruent hypothesis whereas evidence to support a context effect... Show more content on

However, most studies investigating the context effect, presented the context concurrently with
the stimuli (Richards, Blanchette Munjiza, 2007; Blanchette Richards 2003). Thus, the chances
of it affecting the processing of information were not certain. A particular experimental paradigm
used to study context effect is the adaptation paradigm, which ensures complete influence of the
context. Adaptation can be defined as a change in response of the sensory system to a constant
stimulus. The classic experiment of adaptation after effect was of color, where a red square
gives a green perception after adapting to it for a few seconds (Clifford Rhodes, 2005). This
adaptation after effect is also found with all the different identities and facial expressions (Fox
Barton, 2007) but the magnitude of effect depends on congruence of identity (Pell Richards,
2013), duration (Rhodes, Jeffery, Clifford Leopold, 2007) and familiarity of the faces (Carbon et
al., 2007). Adaptation effect is strongest when the adaptor is presented for a longer period of
time, when the identity of the target and adaptor are congruent and when the face used is a
familiar one. The fact that the strength of this effect is present across various dimensions like
gender, expressions and identity, shows that adaptation is strategic and occurs at a higher level of
visual and perceptual processing (Watson Clifford, 2003). One of the explanations for the
adaptation phenomenon is response suppression which refers to the reduced firing rate of the
neurons in response to repeated stimuli (Desimone., 1996; Huber O Reilly 2003). Wiggs and

The Acceptance Of The Green Girdle In Sir Gawain s
Sir Gawain s acceptance of the green girdle and refusal to hand it over to Bertilak is Sir Gawain
s first renege upon the rules of the game that he consented to, it again creates an awareness of the
weaknesses within the character of Sir Gawain. He was, up until the point where he accepted the
agreement with the lord s wife to leave Bertilak in the dark about the girdle, behaving as
chivalrous as would seem possible considering the curious circumstances of having to be courteous
to the lord s wife who is propositioning herself to him and also remain faithful to his host, coupled
with the rules of their game. It is Sir Gawains natural and human fear of death that causes him to
accept the invincibility rendering green girdle and agree to not tell the lord, it is his fear of death
that causes him to omit to surrender it to the lord, and it is his fear of death which causes him to...

This can be compared to the general desires of Sir Gawain and more particularly his flinch
during the beheading scene, Sir Gawain s fear of death is shown to be his primary weakness, he
is compared to that of an animal, again displaying the imperfections of Sir Gawain. The death
that the fox endures is contrasted with that of the boar, the fox is later regarded as ignoble, the
theefe dies panic stricken in the jaws of the pursuers (Burnley 1973: 3) Burnley draws parallels
between the sense of disappointment that is felt by the capturing of a mere fox when hunting with
the disappointment of Sir Gawain accepting the girdle as a gift, which we already see is supposed
to be compared with the disappointment in the beheading test where Sir Gawain

Frederick The Great Accomplishments
Frederick the Great is best remembered nowadays as the Prussian king who led his country to the
forefront of Europe through several wars and his domestic policies. Being an enthusiastic patron
of the arts, he is also remembered as being a talented musician and Enlightened despot who sought
to become the ideal platonic king . But while Frederick the Great pursued Enlightenment ideas and
patronage of the arts, he deserves the title, The Great , because of his military and state
achievements. While Frederick is remembered as a great military mind, ironically, as a child,
Frederick seemed to shun all of the militaristic views and habits of his father. Against his father s
wishes, he was interested in learning poetry, French, and music. His interests... Show more content

He will undoubtedly be remembered for his pursuit of Enlightenment ideas and patronage of the
arts, but it was the stories of Frederick s deeds and speeches far outlived his own life. It was the
stories of Frederick rallying the broken ranks at Hochkirch, being hit by a cannonball at Torgau,
or Frederick s rallying speech at Leuthen that were remembered by his men and subjects, not the
fact that Frederick was more interested in French than German, or that he played the flute. It
was Frederick s reforms of agriculture, economics, and preservation and expansion of Prussia
against all odds and enemies that people remembered, not the fact that Frederick wrote a
commentary on Machiavelli or had a different taste in music. We remember Frederick II in our

philosopher king, but because he used his army and reforms to turn the small backwater country of

Scrubs In My Old Lady
The early 2000s was a prime time for hospital centered television shows were aired. House and
Grey s Anatomy were among the most popular, but Scrubs stood among the best of the genre.
While the other shows were drama focused, Scrubs took a more lighthearted approach to working at
a hospital, though the show often takes on dark thematics from time to time. Scrubsis the best
hospital televisionshow to have been aired because of the scenes that reflected the reality of
hospitals, the soundtrack, and the genius improve the cast used to liven up scenes. In the fourth
episode of the series, My Old Lady , the main character, JD, is told by his patient who is an old
woman, that she is ready to die. In that moment, it shook me that while it is a doctor s duty to
save a patient, the patient wants to be let go sometimes. JD spends the rest of the episode working
off the clock to change her mind, but she she doesn t change her mind. Knowing that doctors really

The motions and emotions of the cast feel more realistic due to the fact that there are no pauses
for imaginary laughter and allows music to have more emphasis on the tone of the current
scene. When the old woman died, a cover of Hallelujah started to play, which is already a
somber song about love. This show also introduced viewers to new artists. A band that makes a
recurring appearance is, The Blanks. This band does acapella, acoustic, or unplugged covers of
songs that I like, most noteworthy was and acoustic cover of, Hey Ya, by Outkast, along with
original content. A creative way for the incorporation of this band was that they made cameos as a
group of hospital staff that have an acapella band doing covers of slogans or cartoon theme songs.

CCHD Screening
Theoretical and Ethical Basis of Practice Nursing theories and ethical principles serve as the
foundation of nursing practice, education, and research (Colley, 2003; Antipuesto, 2011). This
paper s purpose is to elaborate on the author s discussion of her phenomenon of interest (POI) on
newborn screening for Critical Congenital Heart Defects (CCHD). The objectives of this paper are
to discuss the metaparadigm of nursing as it relates to the author s POI, to discuss the Neuman
system model and discuss the POI within its framework, to discuss the inter related concepts in the
UCSF symptom management model and associate it with the Neuman system model, examine the

In the author s POI, the newborn being screened for CCHD is the person component of nursing
metaparadigm. The environment component is the place where the newborn was born. In this
case, the environment s altitude has an impact on the results of newborn screening for CCHD. In
a study done by Ravert, Detwiler, and Dickinson (2011), they stated that the oxygen saturation
readings are lower on newborns delivered at higher altitudes than those born at sea level. Because
of the effect of altitude in oxygen saturation readings, Ravert, Detwiler, Dickinson suggested that
there is a need to modify the newborn screening algorithm for CCHD in places that are located in
higher altitudes. The health aspect of the nursing metaparadigm in the author s POI is
demonstrated by the degree of the newborn s wellness at the time CCHD is detected. The health
status of the newborn during the time of diagnosis has a direct correlation to the outcomes of
interventions. According to Martin, Kemper, and Bradshaw (2012), when newborns with CCHD
are diagnosed late, and they are already critically ill when they present, the prognosis for
interventions are worse as opposed to the newborns whose cardiac defects were detected early while
the newborn is still doing well. Lastly, the nursing component of the metaparadigm in the author s
POI is exhibited by nursing participation in the interdisciplinary collaborative efforts when

The Day Of The Family Farm Days
The days of the family farm days are over. For decades, there has been such an exorbitant
consumer demand for pork products. The consumer demand is so high that pork is now a
multibillion dollar industry, Swann (2014). Now the family farm has evolved into what critics call
factory farms due to high consumer demand for affordable meatporkproducts in the United States
(p.43).
This mass production calls for animals to be forced to live in confined spaces and operate a
breeding system for mass production. The system of confinement is a 114 day gestation period in
a sow gestation stall, about two feet wide by seven feet long (p.43).

Those in the business of selling pork have their own argument claiming that they do not mistreat
animals, they even go so far as to claim that they, take great care to feed and shelter their animals
properly. In fact, the pork industry argues gestation stalls are a safer and more nutritional way to
raise sows indoors (p.46). This is a perfect example of managing perception (Moore, 2014). Plato

can be used to deceive. They assert that there is a moral challenge to deceive and communicate
(p.24). Moore (2014), also asserts that there are similarities between The Republic and
Machiavelli s The Prince (1513), who advise rulers how to manage media to hold onto power by
using deceit if necessary, rather than by cultivating virtue in individual citizens. The pork industry,
similar to Plato s philosophy in The Republic, is a proponent of the abuse of power and a little
necessary dishonesty (p,25).

good capital structure would ensure adequate funding and future business stability. However,
adequate funding involves capital financing which also has its own risks. If bonds are issued,
the company would have to pay interest on them but if sales projections aren t met, this could

objective of music therapy is to achieve therapeutic effects coinciding with or without the use of

While opening gates for better communication during treatment, it also helps patients better manage
their illness, disease, or stressful situation. Primarily, music therapyis used for patients suffering
with long term disabilities such as dementia, in crisis situations that have devastating mental

Mainstream America was not aware of the potential benefits of music therapy in this situation until
brought to light by The New York City Music Therapy Relief Project. This organization,
combined with over 50 years of practice and research in music therapy, has demonstrated the
impact it can have as a second wave relief in helping to cope with events surrounding a crisis and
its aftermath (Music Therapy, 2004). Having this type of access provides people with a better
understanding of the problem and provides them with a means to fix it. People tend to block out
the information or stimuli that is causing the trauma during a crisis and events are suppressed
deep within the brain helping it and the body cope with this degree of trauma. Music therapy
helped to develop a stronger sense of readiness to cope with day to day stressors and potential
future crisis situations (Music Therapy, 2004).
According to the article Music Therapy in Response to Crisis and Trauma (2004), during an eight

centers, healthcare facilities and other locations throughout the New York metropolitan area to help
with coping. Selected groups of programs were geared towards health care workers, counselors,

It is a time when matchmakers were popular and local trades flourished. Matchmaking is a
distinctive part of the cultural context; Thomasheen is actually a matchmaker by trade. This was
a traditional aspect of rural Ireland. The majority of the characters in the play see it as a young girl

The Tea Of Tea Master
When I first entered the tea house, the aroma of many tea leaves struck me in my nose. I was
deeply welcomed by many people. The atmosphere was very lively. The first thing I realized when
sitting down at the tea gathering table was the amount of utensils there were to make a cup of tea
and the traditional clothing TeaMaster Michael Fung was wearing. This made me feel like Tea
Master Michael Fung was deeply passionate and interested in the art of tea. As more students
came, I realized that it was very cramped. It reminded me of a quote when Dr. Jack said that it
was best to drink tea with only two people and the more we have the more it feels uncomfortable.
During the beginning of the ceremony, Tea Master Michael Fung, owner of The Best Tea House
Co. , took many aged Pu er tea cakes for us to experiment and observe. Many students and I, saw
many differences such as how it smells and how the colour changes over time. Tea Master
Michael Fung also talked about the history and the origins of tea and why it is drank and how it
is developed. He also mentioned that the waxing paper determines the tea s quality. Pu er tea is an

The Crucible And The Red Scare Analysis
Have you ever been accused of something? So to keep from getting into deep trouble you
quickly exclaim you saw so and so do this . Suddenly, you re put on a back burner, as this new
evidence is looked into. This is what happened back in the 1940 s. People in the U.S. were scared
by Joseph McCarthy on the sudden rise in communismin other areas of the world, the closest being
the Soviet Union. The Scare inspired Arthur Miller to write his play. The Crucible is an allegory
for the Red Scare. Arthur Miller wrote the play to show people that the craziness of the witch hunts
were extremely similar to the communist hunts, and to show the dangers of being quick to accuse
others to avoid consequences.
Fear can be a person s strongest, or weakest, part of how we react to things considered
threatening. McCarthy used people s fear to gain power, he gained a lot by claiming that people
in high government positions were conversing with a formidable enemy. In one of his speeches,
McCarthy held up a piece of paper, claiming it listed 224 names of Americans that had ties with
communists. Although this list was never shown to anyone but McCarthy, no one tried to get the
accused people freed from their charges of treason. The reason for this was that anyone who
questioned the truth, or anyone who knew the truth and tried to get it public, was accused of
communism and taken care of . (spartacus education) The fear and accusations McCarthy put on

Creating an EcOS Database Essay
How to create an EcOS database?
In EcOS, data and metadata are stored in time series database. An EcOS database has some key

An EcOS database acts as a container for data, metadata, and objects.
The database structure is governed by its attributes.
Since it is a time series database, each series stored is tied to a time dimension.
Each time series has a default scale.
This video shows how to create an EcOS database.

Redemption In Schindler s List
Never shall I forget the feeling of anticipation when the little boy in Schindler s List is looking for
a hiding spot and, when it came to desperate measures, the boy had to hide in the latrine. The boy s
daring actions at survival show how he feels about life and death and make the viewers question
whether if they were in his position would they commit the same act.
The boy starts out standing in a herd of children, the other children are oblivious to what is going

other children who know that everything will not be sweet at the new destination so they escape
to a hiding place. Some of these children are not successful when planning their escape, but this
little boy is. The boy stealthily runs the other direction into the place of residence to find a hiding
place. The first place the boy looks is under the metal floorboard, to his dismay, he finds children

was that they had no tail due to they ancestors evolution to who they are now, which remove the

March 2014 at Republic of Guinea, then to Prefecture of Macenta , 80 km to the east .
Ebola is introduced into the human population through close contact with blood, organs and other
fluids of infected animals.
People who care for those infected with Ebola should wear protective clothing, including, gloves,
gowns and goggles. Ebola experts say that no skin should be exposed these measures should also
be given to people who handle objects that are contaminatedby Ebola victim.
Symptoms usually begin with feeling tired, fever pain in the muscles and joints, headache, and sore
throat. The fever is usually higher than 38 В°C. This is often followed ... Show more content on

People get diarrhoea and are so weak they cant make it to the lavatories so those who look after
them are easily exposed to the virus he says These 3 little girls had taken their mums linel and
clothing to wash, and they all got infected. One died, another nearly pulled through. Only one
survived. This implies that a way to stop Ebola is to keep a safe distance away from the victim.
The word exposed indicates that you shouldn t go to near them or you might get the virus.
W.H.O (World Health Organisation) is a big organisation and a very reliable source because it one
of the many that has actually sent workers to help stop Ebola. Dr Saran Tata Camara said ...if we
tell that it is not easy to contract Ebola and that they can protect themselves if they respect rules,
they often understand This shows that if they understand the concept of Ebola they find it easier to

The Cases Of The Holocaust, Nanjing Massacre, And Rwandan...
When someone deliberately commits any crime or act of hatred towards another group of people
in the hopes of revenge or elimination, it is known as a crime against humanity. These crimes result
in death, extinction, and years of pain and suffrage for people whom the act has been committed
against. The cases of the Holocaust, Nanjing Massacre, and Rwandan Genocideall fall under this
category. The question is, if an organization such as the UN would have stepped in during these
times of crisis, would these devastating crimes against humanity have been stopped or prevented?
Towards the late 1930s the animosity in Germany towards the Jewish people began to flourish and
the power of Hitler was beginning to rise. Jewish shops and businesses were boycotted and many
lost their right to own property, in turn forcing the Jewish populationto quit their jobs and resort to
Jewish camps set up by Hitler himself. It was in these camps that the Jewish race was slowly
being eradicated and put to work until they died. Hitler s racist and prejudiced views were
responsible for the mass genocide of over six million people, two thirds of the Jewish population.
At the same time many institutions such as the League of Nations were debating stopping Hitler
and his rise to power. As we now know, this plan did not take action. The League of Nations, and
countless other countries were powerless and had little influence on global affairs after WWI. Due
to the previous war many felt as though they

Embryonic Stem Cell Differentiation
Attainment of the differentiated state during the final stages of somatic cell differentiation is
closely tied to cell cycle progression. Much less is known about the role of the cell cycle at very
early stages of embryonic development. Here, we show that molecular pathways involving the cell
cycle can be engineered to strongly affect embryonic stem celldifferentiation at early stages in vitro.
Strategies based on perturbing these pathways can shorten the rate and simplify the lineage path of
ES differentiation. These results make it likely that pathways involving cell proliferation intersect
at various points with pathways that regulate cell lineages in embryos and demonstrate that this
knowledge can be used profitably to guide the path and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is surprising, for example, that mouse and human ES cells appear to be so different with respect
to the molecules that mediate their self renewal, and perhaps even in their developmental potentials.
BMPs, for example, in combination with LIF, promote the self renewal of mouse ES cells. But in
conditions that would otherwise support undifferentiated proliferation, BMPs cause rapid
differentiation of human ES cells. Also, human ES cells differentiate quite readily to trophoblast,
whereas mouse ES cells do so poorly, if at all. One would expect that at some level, the basic
molecular mechanisms that control pluripotency would be conserved, and indeed, human and
mouse ES cells share the expression of many key genes. Yet we remain remarkably ignorant about
the molecular mechanisms that control pluripotency, and the nature of this remarkable cellular
state has become one of the central questions of developmental biology. Of course, the other great
challenge will be to continue to unravel the factors that control the differentiation of human ES
cells to specific lineages, so that ES cells can fulfill their tremendous promise in basic human
biology, drug screening, and transplantation

The Long Telegram Analysis
In the wake of World War II, Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union delivered a largely
controversial speech in the Bolshoi theater located near the center of Moscow. In Stalin s speech, he
articulated upon the idea that Communism and Capitalism could not co exist. He claimed to the
people that the Soviet Unionwas the only key factor in eliminating the Axis powers from the war.
Only 13 days after Stalin s speech in Moscow, George Kennan s 8,000 word telegram was sent to
Washington D.C. This telegram discussed what Kennan believed Stalin s next move in Europe
would be. Kennan felt that Stalin would move to Iran and Turkey as its next targets. Also, this
telegram, nicknamed The Long Telegram contained Kennan s belief which was the only way to
help Eastern Europe was to provide financial aid so that these countries would not turn to
Communism because of their financial downfall. Not only did Stalin s speech land heavily upon
the U.S. but it also shocked England. On March 5th, 1946, Winston... Show more content on

On March 12th, 1947, Truman addressed a joint session of Congress, in this meeting, Truman
asked for $400,000,000 that he would need to aid both Greece and Turkey, to prevent Soviet
influence. This money given to both Greece and Turkey would assist these countries to rebuild their
governments. Truman called this plan the Truman Doctrine. In order to fulfill Truman s request, the
newly appointed Republican members of the house would have to contradict what they had been
elected to do; focus on domestic policy. This request also completely shifted the relationship
between the U.S. and the Soviet Union from one of friendship to one of containment. The U.S. had
to contain the Soviet Union so that its sphere of influence could not grow. Congress approved the
Truman Doctrine and granted Greece and Turkey $400,000,000 to rebuild their

Lydia Litvyak Biography
Lydia Litvyak was a Russian female pilot during World War II. She was one of the few brave
women to fight in the war. Lydia paved the way for many women to become part of battle and she
proved that fighting wasn t just for men. Litvyak defied the odds and became one of the few
female pilots during the nineteen thirties and nineteen forties. Even though Litvyak lived a short
life of only twenty one years, she was and still is a inspiration to women around the world.
Litvyak was born in Moscow, Russia on August 18, 1921 into a Jewish family. She began flying
at age fourteen and fell in love with it. At just fifteen, she performed her first solo flight. Soon
after, she graduated from Kherson Military Flying School. By the time the German Soviet War
had begun, she had already trained forty five pilots. She was one of very few women to pilot
during the second World War. Considering her religion being Jewish, it was quite an
accomplishment to be a female pilot during this time period when Jews were hated deeply. ... Show

She was denied multiple times before she was finally accepted in. After she was accepted, she
began training other people to be pilots. Because of how well Litvyak flew and the number of kills
she made, she was often referred to as the White Rose of Stalingrad . During her career as a
aviator, it is said that she made 14 kills (a few more or less). One of the highlights of her career
being when she shot down Staff Sergeant Erwin Maier, a German ace pilot. After Maier s plane
went down, he was then captured by the Soviets. Soon after being captured, Maier learned he was
shot down by a woman and he then asked to meet her. When they met, Litvyak described her plan
of attack on Mair s aircraft in detail to confirm that it was no doubt, her that shot down his plane.
Erwin Maier was completely stunned at Lydia s excellent ability to

The Four Stages Of Sleep Research
The human brain is complex and the way the body advances is through sleep. Sleep allows the
body to rest, repair and rejuvenate itself. The brain is responsible for wave patterns called alpha
and beta waves that through a series of stages, produces what we know as non rapid eye
movement (NREM), and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. At the beginning of sleep, our
minds are relatively active, conscience, and producing beta waves, which are small and fast. The
brain begins to produce alpha waves when it relaxes and starts to slow down. At this point, it is
possible to have lucid or strange events called hypnagogic hallucinations, which can be responsible
for you having episodes of seeing and hearing things as you are falling asleep or sudden... Show

During this process, dreams occur due to activity in the brain and the voluntary muscles are
immobilized. REM sleep is defined by rapid movement of the eyes, raised respiratory rate and
elevated brain activity. This stage occurs about 90 minutes into a person s sleep and repeats itself
every 90 minutes getting longer throughout the night; people spend about 25% of their sleep time

Candles, A Remarkable, Yet Simple Creation
Candles are a remarkable, yet simple creation. Understanding the origin of candles, types of
candles, benefits, uses, and how they work is most often ignored. Fragrant smells and vibrant
colors can occasionally overpower their overall importance. The history of candles may be
unknown in some instances, but studies have found evidence relating back to the Ancient
Egyptians before 3,000 B.C. It has also been found that the Ancient Romans developed the wicked
candlelater after 3,000 B.C. (Communications, 2015) For hundreds of centuries, the creation of the
candle has remained popular for its uses throughout the world. Although candles continue to have
admirable qualities throughout their existence, explanation of candles often goes unnoticed and
overlooked. Candle waxes have a complex history along with several uses and benefits suitable for
use in situations, such as when the power goes out or to ward off bugs.
Origin
The history of candles may be unknown in some instances, but studies have found evidence
relating back to the Ancient Egyptians. The Ancient Egyptians used torches or other known as
rushlights. The cores of the reeds of torches, were soaked in melted animal fat and lit with a fire
source. Although unlike a true candle, the torches or rushlights did not have a wick. Later after
3,000 B.C., the Ancient Romans developed the wicked candle. Rolled papyrus was dipped in
melted animal fat (also known as tallow) or beeswax then lit with fire. The light from the flame

  • 2. The New Tax Law Through President Obama s Term, Congress With possibly the last changes to the tax law through President Obama s term, Congress agrees on making many of the Tax Extenders permanent. These so called Tax Extenders are tax provisions that Congress has passed over the past few years with short term expiration dates, at which point the provision would lapse. Typically, after the provision lapsed, Congress would retroactively reinstate the provisions, thus extending its life through the current tax year. This has led to some tax planners relying on the hopes that Congress will reinstate these provisions, without the explicit knowledge that they would do so. Therefore, the now permanent provisions (those that have been extended without a set expiration date) are able to give tax planning professionals more certainty in their projections. The act made several changes to Section 529 Plans alongside with these extenders . The chart below briefly summarizes the new tax law changes from the PATH Act of 2015 that most closely affect individuals and small businesses. It should be noted that this does not encompass all aspects of the act, as there are several changes that apply to larger corporations, IRS reform, and the prevention of fraud and abuse. *Adapted from Congress Approves (Mostly Permanent) 2015 Tax Extenders Legislation For QCDs And More! by Michael Kitces PermanentProvisions Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD) In 2006, Congress allowed qualified distributions from IRAs to be directly given to ... • 3. The Ottoman Empire And The Safavid Empire The Middle East is known for their notorious empires that impacted how our society is constructed up to date. Two of the most famous empires are the Ottoman Empire and the Safavid Empire. Both empires have characteristics that both famously led to the success of each empire and infamous characteristics which ultimately led to the demise of the empire. To begin with, the Ottoman Empire was initially founded in the fourteenth century by a Sunni Muslim named Osman I. From the very beginning one of the number one goals of the Ottoman Empire was to expand. One of the ways that the Ottomans expanded their empire was with a strong military. Due to this fact, they gained popularity. Moreover, another one of the biggest keys to the success of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Safavid Empire s case Turkic leaders attempted many times to overthrow the shah. Much like Janissaries in the Ottoman Empire the Safavid Empire had young Christian born males as slaves that were forced to serve and protect the shah at all costs. The difference between the two is that Janissaries were of the Ottoman Empire, while in the Safavid Empire the young male slaves were not of the Safavid Empire. Since the people of the Safavid Empire were strictly Shi a Muslims the young male slaves were converted and brought up as Shi a Muslims. Ultimately, they positively contributed to the Safavid Empire by adding loyal subjects. Unlike the Ottoman Empire the Safavid Empire was a theocracy. All in all, while the Safavid Empire did not last nearly as long as the Ottoman Empire, which ended in the 1700 s, the Safavid Empire was unique and famously remembered for its cultural impact. The demise of the Ottoman Empire began in the early twentieth century. The world was beginning to become more industrialized and because of that economies were rapidly changing. The sultans were not prone to taking this into consideration and firmly believed that since the Ottoman Empire survived that long just as it was then there was no need to reinvent themselves by becoming more industrialized. Inevitably, economic hardship fell upon the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Shakespeare And The World Of Hamlet The world of Hamlet and the world of its playwright, William Shakespeare, are similar in many aspects such as politics and the way women are treated. Another similarity of both worlds is the education system. It is known that Prince Hamlet attends the University of Wittenberg as King Cladius and Queen Gertrude are against Hamlets return to Wittenberg, stating that [i]t is most retrograde to [their] desire (Shakespeare I.ii.114). The fact that Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, attends university shows that the world of Hamlet, without a doubt, resembles Shakespeare s world. This is because in Shakespeare s world, university is only available to the males of noble and royal families for only they have enough time and money to learn (Elizabethan Era ... Development, Development And Development Of Eggs To Infants By introducing eggs to infants starting at six months, the baby will have a higher blood concentration of choline, other biomarkers in the choline pathways, and docosahexaenoic acid. These are key nutrients that will help develop in the child better brains. Eggs, similar to milk or seeds, support the early growth and development of an organism. It is also dense in nutrient content such as choline that acts like vitamin B and DHA, an omega 3 fatty acid which serves as a structural component of the brain and plays key roles in the development and function of infant s brain. However, with new knowledge that the cholesterol in the egg yolk does not transfer over to the body and cause cholesterol levels to go up, the training menu brought back the whole eggs for bodybuilders. A new study, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, said that egg yolks are actually better for building muscle after a workout compared to the same amount of egg whites. In the research, 18 young men were given an 18 gram serving of protein from egg yolks or egg whites after they had one weightlifting session. Researchers took the blood samples and muscle biopsies of the 18 to track their muscle protein synthesis. Those who were given the egg yolks registered a 40 percent greater post exercise response in building new muscle than the men given the egg whites. Nicholas Burd, a professor of kinesiology and community health at the University of Illinois, said that research shows more protein is needed in the diet than once thought to maintain health. He observed a lot of stress on protein nutrition in modern society. Burd said that as the world population grows, there is a need for cost effective and sustainable strategies to improve the use of protein in the diet. He said that the study showed consuming egg protein in its natural matrix has a greater benefit than getting isolated from the same source. • 6. Homeless People In The Homeless Society The homeless population in the U.S. does not only consider the humans out on the streets, but also the ones in emergency shelters, transitional housing, in cars, and more. Over six hundred thousand individuals are currently homeless in the United States. In our current society, people often become homeless due to circumstances beyond their control. Such as individuals that identify as LGBTQ, victims of domestic violence, and unaffordable housing throughout America. Different sets of problems and issues have arisen over time for the homeless individuals as our world continues to advance and grow day to day. The LGBTQ identified students face more than no home, but lifelong hardships. After coming outto his parents that he was gay, Michael Miller couch surfed among friends and teachers his whole senior year in High School(Clemmitt 318 ). Being denied in his family, left Michael with no home and neglection. This issue of no acceptance between these families is leaving a strong impact of no self confidence or trust within these students. Furthermore the rejection throughout these families because of the students sexual orientationis leaving these young adults homeless. Not to mention, our society has learned to become more accepting and welcoming to the LGBTQ community. This not only gives courage to these kids to come out to their families, but develops the instinct that this place called home is somewhere where they should be accepted and loved for who they are. ... • 7. Cultural Analysis Assignment When I began this assignment, I knew I wanted to try out a culture I know practically nothing about. I love Chinese and Japanese food, so I decided to turn in the direction of sitting at a restaurant with Chinese/Asian cuisine. This was a simple sit down dinner that did not occur on any special day like holidays. The setting that I chose was a Cantonese restaurant located in Elmwood Park called New Star Restaurant . While I walked in, I noticed a variety of gift items such as porcelain turtles, buddhas, Maneki Neko(welcoming cat), pandas, etc. There was a lot of red and gold decor in the interior of the restaurant. The people of this culture are very strong believers in good fortune, good health, and family. The red means success in relationships... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have people in my family that have many negative perceptions about the asian culture. For example, I have a family member that refuses to eat Chinese food out of fear of eating dog meat. This is very irrational, and I do not have perceptions like these. In my own culture, we eat mostly with our without hands. I have had a server bring me a washcloth to wash my hands before I start eating to prevent bacterial contamination. I still noticed the integrity within this culture and my own. I have met some amazing servers, and this one was no exception. I think the foods are very different, but they do not mean one culture is better than the other. I do have the option to display my own ethnicity in some situations because it can be uncomfortable to expose my differences in certain environments. It can be because of danger or fear of being out of my comfort zone. I think my ethnicity is not as strongly expressed as the one I observed because my culture is much more minimal. We are not into attention to detail, or large displays of culture. I feel that it is more likely to move away from expressing these aspects of our social identity because in modern day, people are targeted for their differences. I think this is influenced by leaders in power that generate a reason for hate among all those that are not Caucasian. By this, I mean president Donald Trump and his administration. I think that as he continued to stir up emotions of hate, people will be less likely to want to be who they are and display their culture ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Gilded Age Of America Throughout history, America was faced with many problems socially, economically, politically, and technologically. But America has also experienced many great successes in these areas as well. Some opportunities were seized, while others were wasted. We can learn from our past failures and successes and take what we have learned from them forward with us into the future, to help build and maintain a better America. The Gilded Age, during the late 1800 s, was a time in America where we experienced explosive economic growth, serious social problems, new innovative technology, and the rise of corporations and corruption in politics. We have learned from some of these things that we went through in the Gilded Age and fixed them, but we are still facing some of the problems we faced back then, today. During the Gilded Age, America experienced many economic and technological successes. For example, the second industrial revolution helped America achieve huge economic success. The country enjoyed a surplus of natural resources, an expanding supply of labor, a growing market for manufactured goods, as well as the availability of capital for investment. There were many other factors contributing to the rapid economic growth during the Gilded Age. The expansion of railroads were one of these contributing factors. From 1860 to 1880, the number of miles of railroad tracks tripled in the United States, stemming from private investment and large grants of money and land by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Ambiguism In The Demon Lover By Elizabeth Bowen The Demon Lover by Elizabeth Bowen s is set in London during World War II. Bowen adopts a common folklore theme of the demon lover in her short story in which a woman is left traumatized during the blitz in World War II. The story follows a married middle age woman who is haunted by the ghost of her love from her youth. This ghost was known to be killed in the First World War nearly twenty five years earlier. Bowens focuses on the atmosphere to create a disturbing ambiguity leading to many interpretations to what seems like a simple ghost story; the reader wonders if the ghost is a supernatural body or a disquieting delusion that Mrs. Drover observes. The main message conveyed in this story is that no bad deed goes unpunished. Mrs. Drover;... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bowen then uses a flashback to link this letter to the dead fiance. Mrs. Drover thinks back to her former nameless fiance who went off to fight during World War I and was presumably killed, this vision reinforces the sense of him potentially being the demon lover of the title. She is keenly aware of her surroundings after reading this letter: the atmosphere such as the striking of the clock, the weather, and particularly, a sense of strangeness. The letter lying on the table compels her to imagine the various possibilities for how the letter got there in the first place. She believes the letter written by K is some sort of threat from a ghost. This letter greatly unnerves her and she rushes upstairs and begins to pack her things. She then rushes into a taxi only to see the face of the driver as her demon lover, she begins to scream and pound the glass between them. Perhaps the driver of the taxi Akca, 2 was the soldier, incarnated as a demon has come to retrieve the damned Mrs. Drover. In addition, it can be thought of as the ghost of World War I coming back to haunt World War II. The setting is that of the empty streets of London, the inhabitants had all fled their homes to escape the destruction that came with war. There is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. U.s. Military Regime And Its Policies Since General Ne Win s seizure of power in 1962, the military regime controlling Myanmar has called itself many things. Throughout the 1960s to 80s, it was the Burmese Socialist Programme Party; during the late 80s to 90s, it was State Peace and Development Council; and in the present day they re known as the State Law and Order Restoration Council. Though each of these different names represent a different era of Burmese military control, with different policies and different political dynamics, one thing is for certain: no matter the name, figurative political head, or purported change in objectives, the military regime is still firmly entrenched into the country s political workings and they wish to keep it this way. As the Burmese people look to the future, this is the biggest and most obvious obstacle standing in the way of progress. There is much debate and discussion amongst the international community and within Myanmar itself as to how the Burmese should move forward, but it is unanimous that the problem lies fundamentally with the military regime and its policies. Aung San Suu Kyiand her National League for Democracy seek to solve this problem through the ousting of the State Law and Order Restoration Council (SLORC). Essay Electable or Not, Trump is Good for America There are seven hopefuls who are likely going to formally announce their candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination in 2012, within the next week and many more who are contemplating a run. None of them invoke an emotional, if not polarizing response quite like The Donald. It is early yet, but the only Republican hopeful who has broken from the reserved, almost polite rhetoric of the early stump speeches in Iowa and New Hampshire, and the government as usual policy discussions on the Sunday media carousel, has been Donald Trump. Trump not only asks these questions of the president, but he asks mainstream reporters why they have not been the least bit interested in vetting Barack Obama as thoroughly as they have other presidential candidates. With Donald Trump the best defense is a good offense, and that is a strategy the other Republican hopefuls had better understand this time. Item decision can additionally be dealt with as a quality characteristic, despite the fact that it stays dissociable from the singular item itself. Basically, quality is a relative idea, insofar as the level of value found in any one item is characterized by reference to the quality levels of different items. • 21. Affective Context Effect Another prominent bias characterizing anxiety is in interpretation or processing of the uncertain and the unknown. We encounter ambiguous situations in our life daily, but what differs is our subjective interpretation and processing of that situation. Anxious individuals find themselves to be uneasy all the time, the main culprits being their thoughts and perceptions about themselves and the world, which are revealed by the way they process and resolve ambiguity. In an ambiguous situation, processing in anxietycould be mood congruent or context related (Richards, Holmes, Pell Bethell, 2013). Bower (1981) and Blanchette, Richards and Cross, (2007) have found evidence for mood congruent hypothesis whereas evidence to support a context effect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, most studies investigating the context effect, presented the context concurrently with the stimuli (Richards, Blanchette Munjiza, 2007; Blanchette Richards 2003). Thus, the chances of it affecting the processing of information were not certain. A particular experimental paradigm used to study context effect is the adaptation paradigm, which ensures complete influence of the context. Adaptation can be defined as a change in response of the sensory system to a constant stimulus. The classic experiment of adaptation after effect was of color, where a red square gives a green perception after adapting to it for a few seconds (Clifford Rhodes, 2005). This adaptation after effect is also found with all the different identities and facial expressions (Fox Barton, 2007) but the magnitude of effect depends on congruence of identity (Pell Richards, 2013), duration (Rhodes, Jeffery, Clifford Leopold, 2007) and familiarity of the faces (Carbon et al., 2007). Adaptation effect is strongest when the adaptor is presented for a longer period of time, when the identity of the target and adaptor are congruent and when the face used is a familiar one. The fact that the strength of this effect is present across various dimensions like gender, expressions and identity, shows that adaptation is strategic and occurs at a higher level of visual and perceptual processing (Watson Clifford, 2003). One of the explanations for the adaptation phenomenon is response suppression which refers to the reduced firing rate of the neurons in response to repeated stimuli (Desimone., 1996; Huber O Reilly 2003). Wiggs and Martin (1998) advanced this idea and suggested that when a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was, up until the point where he accepted the agreement with the lord s wife to leave Bertilak in the dark about the girdle, behaving as chivalrous as would seem possible considering the curious circumstances of having to be courteous to the lord s wife who is propositioning herself to him and also remain faithful to his host, coupled with the rules of their game. For a short time period, Peggy derangedly displayed her art collection at the Hale House, her residential space in Midtown East of Manhattan, up until 1942, when Art of This Century opened its doors to the public in the month of October of that same year. The art forum space, that was neither a museum nor a gallery but a fusion of the two was not just renowned for complementing the aesthetics of Peggy s art collection, nor for resembling her dramatic charisma, but also for hosting shows with artworks made by then non famous who now are famous American artists. Peggy s desk was also located in that space, though often times was unattended because Peggy preferred to spend more time in the gallery brushing shoulders and starting a conversation with her visitors. Thought, it was the least theatrical in design, this art space the has the most impact on American art. It was in this gallery that many American artists made their debut in the art world. The Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) The Ebola Virus disease (EVD) began at in December 2013 and was announced to the public at 23 March 2014 at Republic of Guinea, then to Prefecture of Macenta , 80 km to the east . Ebola is introduced into the human population through close contact with blood, organs and other fluids of infected animals. People who care for those infected with Ebola should wear protective clothing, including, gloves, gowns and goggles. Ebola experts say that no skin should be exposed these measures should also be given to people who handle objects that are contaminatedby Ebola victim. • 41. The Cases Of The Holocaust, Nanjing Massacre, And Rwandan... When someone deliberately commits any crime or act of hatred towards another group of people in the hopes of revenge or elimination, it is known as a crime against humanity. These crimes result in death, extinction, and years of pain and suffrage for people whom the act has been committed against. The cases of the Holocaust, Nanjing Massacre, and Rwandan Genocideall fall under this category. The question is, if an organization such as the UN would have stepped in during these times of crisis, would these devastating crimes against humanity have been stopped or prevented? Towards the late 1930s the animosity in Germany towards the Jewish people began to flourish and the power of Hitler was beginning to rise. Jewish shops and businesses were boycotted and many lost their right to own property, in turn forcing the Jewish populationto quit their jobs and resort to Jewish camps set up by Hitler himself. It was in these camps that the Jewish race was slowly being eradicated and put to work until they died. Hitler s racist and prejudiced views were responsible for the mass genocide of over six million people, two thirds of the Jewish population. At the same time many institutions such as the League of Nations were debating stopping Hitler and his rise to power. As we now know, this plan did not take action. The League of Nations, and countless other countries were powerless and had little influence on global affairs after WWI. Due to the previous war many felt as though they ... • 42. Embryonic Stem Cell Differentiation Attainment of the differentiated state during the final stages of somatic cell differentiation is closely tied to cell cycle progression. Much less is known about the role of the cell cycle at very early stages of embryonic development. Here, we show that molecular pathways involving the cell cycle can be engineered to strongly affect embryonic stem celldifferentiation at early stages in vitro. Strategies based on perturbing these pathways can shorten the rate and simplify the lineage path of ES differentiation. These results make it likely that pathways involving cell proliferation intersect at various points with pathways that regulate cell lineages in embryos and demonstrate that this knowledge can be used profitably to guide the path and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is surprising, for example, that mouse and human ES cells appear to be so different with respect to the molecules that mediate their self renewal, and perhaps even in their developmental potentials. BMPs, for example, in combination with LIF, promote the self renewal of mouse ES cells. But in conditions that would otherwise support undifferentiated proliferation, BMPs cause rapid differentiation of human ES cells. Also, human ES cells differentiate quite readily to trophoblast, whereas mouse ES cells do so poorly, if at all. One would expect that at some level, the basic molecular mechanisms that control pluripotency would be conserved, and indeed, human and mouse ES cells share the expression of many key genes. Yet we remain remarkably ignorant about the molecular mechanisms that control pluripotency, and the nature of this remarkable cellular state has become one of the central questions of developmental biology. Of course, the other great challenge will be to continue to unravel the factors that control the differentiation of human ES cells to specific lineages, so that ES cells can fulfill their tremendous promise in basic human biology, drug screening, and transplantation ... • 43. The Long Telegram Analysis In the wake of World War II, Joseph Stalin, the leader of the Soviet Union delivered a largely controversial speech in the Bolshoi theater located near the center of Moscow. In Stalin s speech, he articulated upon the idea that Communism and Capitalism could not co exist. He claimed to the people that the Soviet Unionwas the only key factor in eliminating the Axis powers from the war. Only 13 days after Stalin s speech in Moscow, George Kennan s 8,000 word telegram was sent to Washington D.C. This telegram discussed what Kennan believed Stalin s next move in Europe would be. Kennan felt that Stalin would move to Iran and Turkey as its next targets. Also, this telegram, nicknamed The Long Telegram contained Kennan s belief which was the only way to help Eastern Europe was to provide financial aid so that these countries would not turn to Communism because of their financial downfall. Not only did Stalin s speech land heavily upon the U.S. but it also shocked England. On March 5th, 1946, Winston... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On March 12th, 1947, Truman addressed a joint session of Congress, in this meeting, Truman asked for $400,000,000 that he would need to aid both Greece and Turkey, to prevent Soviet influence. This money given to both Greece and Turkey would assist these countries to rebuild their governments. Truman called this plan the Truman Doctrine. In order to fulfill Truman s request, the newly appointed Republican members of the house would have to contradict what they had been elected to do; focus on domestic policy. This request also completely shifted the relationship between the U.S. and the Soviet Union from one of friendship to one of containment. The U.S. had to contain the Soviet Union so that its sphere of influence could not grow. Congress approved the Truman Doctrine and granted Greece and Turkey $400,000,000 to rebuild their ... • 45. The Four Stages Of Sleep Research The human brain is complex and the way the body advances is through sleep. Sleep allows the body to rest, repair and rejuvenate itself. The brain is responsible for wave patterns called alpha and beta waves that through a series of stages, produces what we know as non rapid eye movement (NREM), and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. At the beginning of sleep, our minds are relatively active, conscience, and producing beta waves, which are small and fast. The brain begins to produce alpha waves when it relaxes and starts to slow down. At this point, it is possible to have lucid or strange events called hypnagogic hallucinations, which can be responsible for you having episodes of seeing and hearing things as you are falling asleep or sudden... • 46. Candles, A Remarkable, Yet Simple Creation Candles are a remarkable, yet simple creation. Understanding the origin of candles, types of candles, benefits, uses, and how they work is most often ignored. Fragrant smells and vibrant colors can occasionally overpower their overall importance. The history of candles may be unknown in some instances, but studies have found evidence relating back to the Ancient Egyptians before 3,000 B.C. It has also been found that the Ancient Romans developed the wicked candlelater after 3,000 B.C. (Communications, 2015) For hundreds of centuries, the creation of the candle has remained popular for its uses throughout the world. Although candles continue to have admirable qualities throughout their existence, explanation of candles often goes unnoticed and overlooked. Candle waxes have a complex history along with several uses and benefits suitable for use in situations, such as when the power goes out or to ward off bugs. Origin The history of candles may be unknown in some instances, but studies have found evidence relating back to the Ancient Egyptians. The Ancient Egyptians used torches or other known as rushlights. The cores of the reeds of torches, were soaked in melted animal fat and lit with a fire source. Although unlike a true candle, the torches or rushlights did not have a wick. Later after 3,000 B.C., the Ancient Romans developed the wicked candle. Rolled papyrus was dipped in melted animal fat (also known as tallow) or beeswax then lit with fire. The light from the flame ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
