The Importance Of A Planning Practice At The Asian Region
Introduction
According to Abbot and Adler (467), the history identifies a set of opportunities that must be a part of
a planning practice, it should provide practical ways to define and explore the actual institution and
theoretical settings to balance the situation. This statement takes me back in time while visiting the
Asian Region such as the Philippines during my childhood, it is probably one of the most wonderful
experiences I ever had. I would like to look back on the beauty of the Philippines more than ten years
ago, particularly the Banaue Rice Terraces in Cordillera. Although this place is naturally beautiful and
considered as the unofficial 8th Wonders of the World according to the UNESCO World Heritage
during 1995 (Brown, Brown Walder, 2006), but this place has gained little popularity. The place needs
restoration because of the constant rains and floods, there are also illegal loggers that are cutting down
the trees and ruining their resources. It is a sign that it has not given significant importance or it is
somehow neglected. According to history, the native people choose to live on the mountain rather than
be taken as slaves by the Spanish tyrants during the war. Civilization and modernization have come
after the invasion, but they are able to preserve their culture, language, and history when they choose
to settle in this isolated place. According to Mandelbaum (185 188), a sense of history is good for the
profession because it builds solidarity and

Why Google Is Unjust
How strong are you addicted to Google? Google is not at fault for people constantly being on the
internet. People use technology so often and it s been blamed onto one site like Google. In reality, how
often is that user on the internet. Also, many other sites are just as used as Google is. Does that make
those websites also unjust? The word unjust is defined as lacking in justice or fairness, which, in
reference to the proposed question suggests that Google is being held to a legal or moral standard. In
reality Google simply provides a means to gather and research information and does not set the rules.
It is at the discretion of the users how the acquired information will be interpreted and used.
It is in hands of the user on how to use Google. We have all heard that with great power comes great
responsibility. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One just has to type in their desired information into the search bar. Next, the user scrolls through the
results until one sparks the searcher s interest. After clicking on the link, the user weeds through the
site to see if this information can be beneficial to their desired goal. Once finding the information that
was sought after, the user can then implement that information in whatever fashion they desire. This
information can be used for an educational assignment or just for simple knowledge. The most crucial
step in this whole process is going through the plethora of information that Google puts in front of
you. Some of this information may be truthful, and others can be viewed as false information. The
user must keep a cautious approach to avoid sources that may have this false information. A user can
avoid this problem by using credible sources and creating a more comprehensive search. Once this
information is in the hands of the user, it is out of the hands of Google and therefore no longer their

How Did Alfred Hitchcock Turn Into Blockbuster Films
Alfred Hitchcock s journey to international filmmaking stardom started small but ended with him
being considered the best director of the 20th century. Alfred directed many films throughout his life.
His career started in a humble London film studio and working on small films, working his way up to
Hollywood, CA, in massive Paramount studios and producing blockbuster films. Alfred Hitchcock
was arguably one of the most experienced and imaginative filmmakers of the 20th century. Alfred
Hitchcock developed his technical experience for film during many years of hard work and
determination while working under other directors. Alfred acquired many of his skills while working
as a director s assistant in London. As a director s assistant, Alfred would do many odd jobs. He would
critique many aspects of the film, or help any department that needed help. He would help costume

by creating blockbuster films out of other people s stories or plays, along with his own. Nearly all of
Alfred s early films were adapted from books or plays that his companies secured the rights to, like
The Lodger, or The Mountain Eagle. while adversely, Alfred was aloud to create stories of his own for

Pawel Kuczynski s Art Essay
Phones are the easiest and most common way to get connected. Through his art, Pawel Kuczynski is
warning the audience of problems that phones cause among people. The artist has created many
paintings to convey the idea of technology causing people to become separated and disconnected from
one another. Kuczynski s art could be seen as a metaphor for young people, being connected through
technology but still isolated in loneliness. Phones are most likely the most commonly used source of
communication in the world; which begs the question of how they could possibly be disconnecting
people. The title alone, Islands, suggests to the audience a sense of distance and isolation. That is also
conveyed in the painting itself with the use of perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The title again has reference to the picture but doesn t convey the actual meaning. There is a person
scrolling through their phone while the snow falls. The person has been there so long that a snow man
was made on his back. This another great use of satire by Kuczynski. He has developed such a playful
way of calling attention to these overarching societal problems that no one really seems to be talking
about. The person in the picture isn t really living his life. All of his time has been consumed with the
phone that only has virtual images on it. It s crazy how technology has done the opposite of what it
was intended to do. Instead of playing in the snow with his friends his just sitting out in the cold all
alone. Every time I go out I notice fewer people communicating with one another verbally. The
common thought is that social media, phones, and just technology in general connects people of all
kinds across the globe. Connecting with people through the use of technology has a few positives but
what about the overwhelming negative aspects. Millions of people can connect to children and other
adults with horrifying intentions. Cyberbullying is becoming prevalent in schools. Kids are being
exposed to things they shouldn t be. Predators lurk online all the time. Technology is expanding every
day and more people are able to gain access to it. A CNN article stated that

School Nurse Spending two days shadowing a school nurse was a wonderful experience. I had the
pleasure of doing my school nurse rotation at Fox Creek Junior High School. I never realized how
difficult and overwhelming it could be to be a school nurse. Ms. Bodauine was the nurse I got to
shadow. She spent her day doing paperwork, helping the sick and injured, and doing vision and
hearing screenings. There were several kids who came in throughout the day, approximately twenty
one per day that was either sick or injured. Upon each kids visit, I had the opportunity to observe,

Keating Redfern Speech
Through manipulating the power of rhetorical devices in anthology of speeches, orators accentuate the
significance of language and learning as a platform for prompting an abiding social change. Hence, an
effective speech highlights composer s contextual issues and ideas that resonates within their
immediate audience, envisaging a social equity. Lessing s On Not Winning the Nobel Prize, delivered
at the Nobel Lecture in 2007, explores the power of language to fuel radical social reform in
Zimbabwe, through the representation of educational inequality. Similarly, Keating s Redfern Speech
empowers hope within Australian s social progress by accentuating the importance of learning and
acknowledging of our past colonial mistake. Both speeches share ... Show more content on

Criticising the educational gap that subsists within the polarised nations, Lessing exposes language
and literature as a fuel to empower individuals to maintain their hope for a prosperous future.
Achieved through her effective use of personal anecdote in some pupils walk many miles every
morning, rain or shine and across rivers , Lessing highlights the metaphorical journey that reflects the
Zimbabwean students struggle and their determination for knowledge. Through this notion, she
reveals the significance of language and learning as a catalyst that inspires individuals to sustain
through their hardships, engaging her intended audience to appreciate the value of literature as a
platform for social reform. Furthermore, Lessing employs inclusive language to heighten the
significance of language to engender social progress, communicating that it is our stories that will
recreate us, when we are torn...even destroyed...that is our phoenix . She skilfully utilises the
symbolism of the phoenix which symbolises immortality, to emphasis literature as an enduring value
that still resonates within our contemporary world. Through this, she constructs a sense of hope that
projects to an Egalitarian society comprised of social inclusiveness and educational equality.

Pros And Cons Of The Georgia Colony
Was the Georgia colony a success or failure? While the colony of Georgia was successful in defense
however; charity and economy were a disappointment. In 1732 King George 2 granted a charter by
giving named trustees permission to establish the Georgia Colony. Until 1752 the Georgia Colony had
seen both dark and light moments; some of which include the construction of the settlement, the
establishment of Fort Frederica, as well as declaring war on Spain. The corporation was made to be a
charitable body, so none of the trustees could receive or buy land of their own. Also Because of the
small amount of land everyone on the new settlement received there were several complaints about
going into poverty and not having enough slaves or workers to help establish the colony. James
Oglethorpe and 20 other trustees finally decided that they would do whatever it took to make the
colony a utopian city.
Because Georgia had such a great defense system; it won the battle of bloody marsh; and defeated the
Spanish. This was accomplished by raising the first alarm at fort William, evidence for this is found in
document D, The first alarm was raised by the garrison at Fort William, which successfully kept
several Spanish galleons from entering the inland waterway (Colonial Coastal Fortifications
Document D). At St. Simon s island Oglethorpe led the battle and ultimately conquered the Spanish
even after the Spanish launched a massive assault on Garrison; Georgia held firm and the Spanish

George Bush Speech On Homeland Security
George Bush vs Obama on Homeland Security George bush and Obama have very differing opinions
on homeland security and terrorism from their different experiences during presidency. George Bush
was president of the United States when the world trade centers were the target of a terror attack. 9/11
was the day that changed our country forever. During his presidency he also had to deal with the war
in Iraq from the beginning. Unlike Bush, Obama does not agree in war and insisted on taking our
soldiers out of Iraq and back home. Although we weren t involved as much in the war we did kill
Osama bin Laden while Obama has been in office. Both Bush and Obama come from very different
backgrounds and served as presidents at different time periods, so obviously have very different
opinions on how to run the country and especially on homeland security. I am using Bush s remarks in
address to the nation at the Cross Hall for his speech. For Obamas speech, I will be using a speech
from the 2012 State of Union Address. The two speeches should help give you an idea on how times

Comparing Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Our Time
Soul Writing in Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Our Time
Real writing, soul writing is dangerous; there is an intrinsic, gut churning element of risk within the
process of telling the truth, a risk that yields an adrenaline rush that parallels skydiving and skinny
dipping. The thrill of one s own truth displayed nakedly in little black letters on a white page is scary
and beautiful, both chaining and freeing. The issue for authors, like skydivers, is that after they jump
out of the plane (start writing) the fears don t disappear. The diver author asks herself, Should I really
be doing this... What if my parachute doesn t work... What if I m misunderstood? Harriet Jacobs and
John Edgar Wideman undergo this free fall, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She needs to make it clear that she wasn t weak but just lacked any other option because, while it
seems so clear to us as readers in the 1990s, the same assumptions would probably not have been
made in the 1800s. But Jacobs is not only making this point clear to the reader; she is making it clear
to herself. In writing her story, Jacobs comes to terms with herself.
Wideman similarly employs the use of the question. While struggling with the issue of telling his
brother s story without making it his own, he asks the reader a string of questions: And if I did learn to
listen, wouldn t there be a point at which I d have to take over the telling? Wasn t there something
fundamental in my writing, in my capacity to function, that depended on flight, on escape? Wasn t
another person s skin a hiding place, a place to work out anxiety, to face threats too intimidating to
handle in any other fashion? Wasn t writing about people a way of exploiting them? (722). Wideman,
uncomfortable with his relationship between his brother, the text, and himself, makes his plight
obvious in order to receive affirmation from the reader who is forced to ask herself what she would
do. The question, in this case, is an extremely effective rhetorical device because the answer, being
obviously split, makes the reader feel the same dichotomy with which the writer struggles. The
bombardment of questions delivers the reader into a state of

or electric. People use these fuels for the cars, help get the house warm and people use warm water to
take a shower. The warm water using to wash clothes. Also, we use heat to dry our clothes in the
dryer. In this paper, I am going to write about primary sources of fuels and what the similarities and
difference in the fuel sources. Also, I am going how the fuel cause problems and the United States and
countries can stop pollution. Primary source comes from fossil fuels, heat, and transportation. The
other main source of primary source emissions is the electricity production industry. Electricity
production comes from fossil fuels. Electricity production is one of the primary use in the Greenhouse.
Electricity production also comes from natural gas. Transportation is also using fossil fuel. The
industry also comes from fossil fuel. People also use heat to keep themselves warm. Another primary
source of emissions is activities people do. When people are doing activities, it builds up the heat in

other fuels that cause pollution. Those fuels are bad for peoples health. Also, another way is to get
more job in the industries, try to stop air pollution by carpooling. (http://www.ucsusa.org/) The best
thing to reduce emission is not to waste energy. People can use less heat. People use less gas. People
need to take a shorter shower because they do not want to use too much hot water because the hot
water heater is one largest electricity. Do not keep the refrigeration open too long. People need to use

While this appears to be a good datapoint in that it is a direct correlation to butter related activities.
Training is relative to education and compensation is relative to pay and benefits. A number of
questions which arise: If 80% of the military budget is relative to butter related activities, and 20% is
being spent for direct defense related efforts, then why are these costs included in the defense budget?
Would shifting the costs for military training be better suited at the Department of Labor (current
budget of $11.8 billion)? Would shifting the costs for compensation related healthcare be better
situated at the Department of Health and Human Services (current budget s $77.1 billion) and the
Department of Veterans Affairs (current budget s $65.3 billion)?
If Hanson s belief of a strong military is sincere, then innovative thinking in a collaborative approach
to the defense of the nation is needed. In the case of calendar year 2013, moving 80% of the defense
budget to butter related activities would reduce defense spending by $386 billion dollars. This would
therefore allow for defense related activities to be focused on appropriately.

The Narrative Of Beowulf By William Shakespeare
Lines 1214 1241 are important to the narrative of Beowulf drawing on such themes as legacy and
loyalty. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the torque as A collar, necklace, bracelet, or similar
ornament consisting of a twisted narrow band or strip, usually of precious metal, worn especially by
the ancient Gauls and Britons.
Gold and wealth is described at length in Beowulf, suggesting that it has a large significance in
Scandinavian culture. It is often given by kings to their tribes to ensure loyalty from their people , and
also to demonstrate their successes in battle. Here Wealhtheow offers this torque to Beowulf, asking
him to take delight (1216) in it, and to wear it for luck (1217). This suggests Wealhtheow is distracting
Beowulf from King Hrothgar s desire to adopt him as a son, and entreating him to simply accept the
status of warrior by offering him a reward of gold. She also uses prolepsis to predict a future for
Beowulf, further ensuring that he is not dissatisfied with his position as a warrior Be acclaimed for
strength, for kindly guidance/ to these two boys, and your bounty will be sure (1219 1220). This also
is transitional, bringing in past victories and tying them to future ones, showing Beowulf a picture of
his future legacy. He has already won renown and is known to all men (1221), and ought to be
reassured that he has achieved the glory he set out to gain, without the further need to overshadow her
sons. Here we can see that gold is

My Academic Goals And Research Interests
My academic goals and research interests have developed significantly over the course of my
undergraduate studies at Susquehanna University. When I first arrived at Susquehanna I was a biology
major and had dreams of medical school. However, by the end of freshman year, I began to develop an
interest in neuroscience. Declaring a major in neuroscience allowed me to explore the components of
biology I loved, while incorporating psychology and chemistry.
My research interests developed from my exposure to the various areas of neuroscience through my
internships, research experiences and courses. I am currently working on a research project, with the
goal of gaining a more thorough understanding of the genes involved in lateral glial cell differentiation
in the central nervous system of Drosophila. I conduct genetic crosses to obtain the desired genomes
and collect embryos for immunostaining. I examine the expression of a conceptual gene, cg31235,
which is solely expressed in longitudinal glial cells, in the presence of the genes Pointed P1 (PntP1)
and Reversed Polarity (Repo). Subsequently, I will then use immunostaining to examine the
expression of PntP1 and Repo in order to determine whether they regulate the genes involved in the in
the development and function of longitudinal glia. Last fall, I presented my research proposal, which
was followed by a presentation at the Society of Developmental Biology this spring. These
experiences have strengthened my desire to explore

Bladder Research Paper
Bladder is one of the organ which is part of the urinary system of body. The major function of the
bladder is to store urine produced in the kidney prior to urination. The urinary system of the body
ensures the removal of wastes and excess fluid from the body in the form of urine. To ensure normal
urination to ensue, all the parts in the urinary system have to work in the right order. The process of
urine elimination begins in the kidney and ends in the urethra. Human body is composed of a pair of

How Did Stalin Use Propaganda
Secondly, both exploited propaganda to promote their own ideology to the society and cult of
personality to strengthen their supreme authority. The USSR mainly used cult of personality to
promote the god like figure of the supreme leader of Stalin. The personality cult and the adulation
Stalin received were two of the most striking features of Soviet propaganda. By the end of the 1940s,
Stalin dominated the USSR physically as well as politically. His images were found everywhere, as he
has already been exaggeratedly deified. Praise was stacked on Stalin personally and his link with
Lenin and his role in the achievements of the First Five Year Plan was emphasized. From 1935
onwards, it was possible to speak of Stalin only in glowing terms. He was portrayed as the leader
(vozhd), a genius with great wisdom and even prophetic powers. The portrayal of Stalin gave his
people confidence that they would have a strong and powerful leader to take them through all those
difficult and crucial times. Paintings and drawings, poetry and sculpture of Stalin all served as the cult.

U.s. History And American History
US HISTORY
FINAL PAPER
Throughout the history of the United States from the 1500 s to 1865 a number of enduring motifs
played out that shaped the future of the country. This is the place in time where the origins of racist
ideologies can be traced back to the introduction of slavery to the American agricultural system in
order to justify its malicious immorality. The 1500 s also saw the infancy of the specialization of the
different regional economies of America to capitalize on what was closely available and abundant, and
scarce and needed in another region; and by the 1860 s those regional economies had developed into
behemoths that exported their products on large scales, not only domestically but internationally as
well. But the most important theme of U.S. history from the 1500 s to 1865 was expansion, from
Europe to colonial America, and then the westward expansion of the United States. I believe the theme
of expansion is so integral to American history because it incorporates elements of the previous two
themes (racism and racist ideologies, and specialized regional development) into it; the European
colonial expansion is where the regional economies and values where first developed and still exist, in
some aspects, to this day. This theme is also so important because the differing opinions on how to
carry out the westward expansion of the United States, specifically whether the new states would slave
states or free states, eventually became so contentious and

The Use Of Protective Lung Strategies And Effects On...
A research study can be broken out into 4 different parts: topic, problem, purpose and questions.
Aligning these components will make the article cohesive in its content and guarantee that the author
is staying on track. I examined three scholarly articles that describe studies related to the field of
Respiratory Therapy. I reviewed each article to determine the topic, problem, purpose and question to
see if the authors were able to maintain alignment throughout the article.
Article 1
Effect of a Protective Ventilation Strategy on Mortality in the Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome
(Amato et al.,). The topic of the article is the use of protective lung strategies and the effects they have
on mortality rate for patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The problem the
authors, and practitioners around the world, face is that traditional methods for mechanical ventilation
damage already diseased lungs which increases the mortality rate of patients with ARDS. The purpose
of this study is to define what lung protective strategies are comprised of and to determine if using
these strategies will reduce pulmonary complications which will ultimately decrease mortality rates.
The questions the authors focused on were:

The Villian Iago in Shakespeare´s Othello Essay
Throughout Othello, Iago is the most prominent and perplexing villian in Shakespearean history. His
redeeming qualies enables him to allure the characters such as Roderigo, Cassio and Othello through
his morality. As an audience we are introduced to his contempt and his hunger for revenge despite his
lack of proof. Iago symbolizes evil and brutality. So what makes him a crucial character in the play.
His understanding of manipulation and his brilliance makes him an important role in the play since he
s willing to to climb up the stairs to get his general, who he hates. Iago s first use in the play was
Roderigo who isn t very clever. At the beginning of the play Roderigo and Iago are talking about the

Iago knows that a few little words would able him to make Roderigo trustworthy of him and he did
this by advising Rodrigo to do things that would eliminate those whom Desdemona loved. He told
Roderigo that her realtionships with Cassio and Othello weren t going to last for eternity and that she
would turn on him. This caused Roderigo to be very credulous since it seemed right from his point of
view about Desdemona turning on him. Ever since Iago poisoned him with that idea, Roderigo carried
out his advice thinking it would develop his relationship with Desdemona. This words from Iago
caused some hope and confidence in Roderigo causing him to take every advice Iago tells him to do in
spite of capturing Desdemona s heart yet this all benefited Iago s path and not Roderigo. Another
character that s been managed bt Iago is Cassio. Iago s lethal words forces Cassio to drink even
though Cassio isn t supposed to. Unforunately the drink seized his position causing him to fall apart
not only because of his position but his sense of dignity since his reputation was damaged.
Unquestionably Cassio wanted to regain his position. By all means Iago tells him what to do in order
to regain his position back. Iago s words were, ...Confess yourself freely to her; importune her help to
put you in your place again... (2.3.255). These lines indicate that Cassio was to seek help from
Desdemona in spite of gaining back his job. Yet Iago told Cassio to do this for

Essay On Presidential Democracy Vs Parliamentary Democracy
Topic: A presidential democracy is more likely to produce strong, effective government than a
parliamentary democracy.
Introduction
The structure of a governments and party systems are of crucial importance for the functioning and
well stable effective government. In this case let s take example of United States and United Kingdom.
Presidential system of United States;
The United State presidential system is a system of government that features a president as the nation
head of state and active chief executive authority. It is associated with the congressional system of
government. In a presidential system, the central principle is that the legislative and executive
branches of government should be separated.
This lead to the separate election by the electorate or an electoral college of the president, who is
elected to office for a fixed term of office, and can only be remove in extreme cases for gross
misdemeanor by impeachment and dismissal. In addition he or she does not need to choose cabinet
members from or commanding the support of a legislative majority.
As with the president set term of office, the legislature also exists for a set term of office and cannot
be dissolve a head schedule. In the president system, the president usually has special privileges in the
enactment of legislation, namely the possession of a power of veto over legislation of bills, in some
cases subject to the power of the legislature by weighed majority to override the veto.

Lydia Davis And Marge Piercy
The human species is strange. And it is very hard for one to understand another, yet it is harder for a
human to understand oneself. Lydia Davis and Marge Piercy use Head, Heart and Barbie Doll to
express to readers two different internal struggles that people have. Davis and Piercy both use strong
diction to express the internal fights that humanity has within themselves. Both Davis and Piercy also
use free verse to tell their poems and to get their point across. In Head, Heart , Lydia Davis gets right
to the point with her poem. Her poem is only ten lines long but in those ten lines she uses short
sentences and multiple forms of punctuation. In Head, Heart , Davis writes about the internal fight
between the speakers heart and the speakers head. Davis uses metonymy in her writing. The head to
portray reason and the heart to portray emotion. She writes about how the head is trying to comfort the
broken heart by telling the heart that there will be others and that You will lose the ones you love.

In Barbie Doll , the speaker is fighting herself with accepting who she really is versus who society
wants her to be. Piercy uses exaggerated diction and is very sarcastic with her writing. This shows
readers that it is a silly thing to feel so unaccepted because of physical appearance but the reality of it
is that these things do actually happen to people. And this is a major issue in society as a whole. The
writer tells a story of a girl who is born just like any other girl but grows into this body that is so

Reality Check On Year-Round Schooling

Reality Check on Year Round Schooling Many people, including President Barack Obama believe that
year round schooling is the best option for American students, because the year round system gives
students equal amount of time in school, while increasing the efficiency of a single school building
(Ave 1B). More than two million students in some three thousand U.S. schools attend year round
programs in 41 states (Lawson 48). This astonishing number seems large, but really is only 2% of
students in the United States. Many of the perceived advantages of year round schooling revolve
around cost and learning efficiency, but in reality the traditional system gives essentially equal ...

Also, without public support, year round will fail because the parent s reluctance to send their children
(Gee, 795). Parent reluctance comes from the lack of synchronized time off for vacation. Work
schedules do not typically run on a 45/15 plan and without three months break, families lose time for a
vacation. If a school decides to go year round, communication between the community and school
would have must be very clear as to when students are supposed to be in school (Wildman et al. 465).
The disadvantages of year round schooling are just as important as the advantages. Cost and benefits
in learning show through the massive 98% of students that attend nine month systems. When a school

Uncertainty And Imperfect Information On Entrepreneurship
Uncertainty and Imperfect information in entrepreneurship are two important concepts that should be
considered in the role of entrepreneurs. According to (Klir, 1999) uncertainty has many methods and
dimensions and can include concepts such as vagueness, disagreement and conflict, imprecision and
non specificity The term uncertainty can be defined broadly as any deviation from the unachievable
ideal of completely deterministic knowledge of the relevant system (Walker, 2003). Uncertainty could
mean unpredictability, doubt or fear of the unknown. It has to do with the risk entrepreneurs take in
business. Imperfect information on the other hand means lack of adequate information before
embarking on the business. It can also be viewed as incomplete collection of facts or flawed
communication. These two concepts play vital roles in businesses and if not carefully considered and
handled, they can have adverse effects on businesses.
Who Are Entrepreneurs?
An entrepreneur is a person who creates new business, taking risks in accomplishing the objectives
which they intend to make profits and growth by recognising vital opportunities (Burdus, 2010). They
are individuals who innovate, recognise business opportunities, gather and co ordinate new blends of
resources {i.e. production functions) in other to extract the most profits from their innovations in an
uncertain environment (Rapheal Amit, 1993) Entrepreneurs are private business owners. They are self
starters and optimistic

for fitness services and products. Although Bally Total Fitness mainly targets the 18 49 year old range,
knowledge of a major trend should be brought into consideration. The graying of America is a trend in

Collective Remembrance Essay
The relatively new historical branch of collective remembrance, when applied to the collective
memories of Britain and the Soviet Union, reveals much more disparity than resemblance in the way
these two nations remembered, and still remember, the Second World War. The collective
remembrance of Britain is different from that of Russia because while the Soviet Union utilized
similar styles of ceremony and commemoration as Britain did to promote a continued remembrance of
the war, the Soviet Union was unique in the silence of the unspoken grief of millions that lay in more
than the war itself, but in a history of repression and abuse at the hands of the state. Britain, on the
other hand, dealt with the memory of the war by making it front and center in a new narrative of
British patriotism. While both countries created myths about the war ... Show more content on

As Catherine Merridale points out, Those affected come from generations who knew little or nothing
of large scale suffering at first hand, but whose lives were marked by the silences and undiscussed
distinctiveness of their parents. The Soviet state was, for a time, adept at devising patriotic ceremonial
commemorations of WWII. While these did present a more edited version of reality, it is not
necessarily to say that they were inherently false. Britain, on the other hand, got caught in its own
enthusiasm to present the war s history, and in doing so created a different history that changed Britain
from the elitist imperial power to the egalitarian nation who defeated the Nazis. While historians
continue to work diligently to reveal an accurate picture of Britain during the war, the national myth
continues to play a strong role in Britain s sense of identity. Even today, movies continue to be made
portraying Britain s heroic role during World War II. In both cases, more must be done to represent the

How Does Shakespeare Present Iago s Perception In Othello
William Shakespeare uses Othello to citizen society perception by showing problems with race,
jealousy, trust, and revenge. In the marriage between Desdemona, the beautiful Venetian girl, and a
veritable Negro, the main character, this is Othello. He sees Shakespeare s transformation of a
barbarous negro into a respected soldier and nobleman of stature as ignorant, since at the time, African
Americans were not known as nothing except as slaves. The bond between Othello and his wife was
strong enough to not care what others thought about their relationship. Of course this made a
tremendous amount of people/characters upset and flustered because of the marriage and the
difference in Desdemona and Othello race. Othello s intended ethnicity ... Show more content on

The Importance Of Liberal Arts In Business Education
Over the years, schools of business education had not seen the need to incorporate liberal arts into
their programs. In the past, employment rates for liberal arts majors had been generally low, which
caused the school of business to turn away from the major and not want anything to do with it.
According to a study conducted at Georgetown University, liberal arts majors were found to have one
of the top unemployment rates at 8.4% (Dumbauld, 2016). They have not provided great job
opportunities and have left their students paying off large amounts of debt with not a lot of money
coming in to pay them. Business once viewed liberal arts as a waste of time, since only certain
subjects were being taught. During the 1970s and 1980s, many colleges began to shift from liberal arts
to professional education in order to meet students demands and maintain enrollment (Delucchi, 2009,
p. 175). With this new restructuring of more business majors being added to the undergraduate
curriculum, a demand driven response had risen to changed student interests (Delucchi, 2009, p. 175).
Business has become such a popular major because it is needed in so many fields and assures
graduates with a stable career path. Liberal arts colleges cannot guarantee this same promise due to
claims of not having a distinctive educational identity and a clear social and political class. Only
certain institutions have been able to support specific liberal arts graduates with high standing
positions in the

Song Of Solomon Love
Song of Solomon
The Song of Solomon or Songs of Songs is a unique book in the Bible due to its elaborate details of
romance and love. For this reason, many people have struggled to understand its place in the Canon,
but its place was ordained of God to reveal true love between a man and a woman. It is also possible
to see a relationship between God and Israel and/or Christ and the church. The story begins with the
fragrant words of the Shulamite woman for her lover. She speaks in such a way that all who would
hear her would be enthralled by her lovely rhetoric. Her lover then responds to her with fair words of
his own as equally delightful as hers. At this point, both are entangled in a web of love and romance

thought of as the wedding scene. During this scene we witness Solomon claiming his bride (3:6 11),
extolling her beauty (4:1 7), and lastly as already mentioned, consummating the marriage. For the
duration of these events, we gain a valuable insight of the sexual relationship in its purest form as God
designed it. The couple enjoys a mountain top experience as they share their love and he tells her how
beautiful she is. This lovemaking is wholesome not twisted and perverted as postmodern society has

Similarities Between The Pit And The Pendulum
The Spanish Inquisition was a holy and violent endeavor that was meant to convert non Christians into
Christians, but when some kind of rebellion or outburst took place, the rebel was meant with force and

literature taking place during the Spanish Inquisition following the imprisonment of the narrator.
Edgar Allan Poe has written many pieces about death and despair throughout his impressive career.
The Pit and the Pendulum indeed no exception to this literary trend. This specific story takes place
during the spanish inquisition and focuses on the narrator who is imprisoned and tortured in a

story.

Public Shaming As A Punishment
The idea of public shaming as a punishment is an idea that goes back centuries in history. In modern
times the setting of public shaming has shifted from outside in public to inside on the internet. People
are attacked and publically shamed for all to see through social media platforms such as Facebook,
Twitter and much more. The idea of media shaming is an important idea to consider and to question
about the effects that it has on a person s life. People should care about the issue because it can happen
to anyone, at anytime, from just one simple mistake. The idea of public shaming through the internet
is not an acceptable form of punishment in modern society because it can cause deep and long lasting
psychological damage, cause people to lose their jobs, and allows the perpetrators to hide behind a
screen and remain unidentified.
One of the major reasons why public shaming is not an acceptable form of punishment in today s
society is because it can cause deep and long lasting psychological damage. Usually after someone has
received their punishment they can move on with their lives but when someone is humiliated they get
psychological damage with effects that can stay with them for the rest of their lives. In the article Hide

embarrassment, given enough time, can be sublimed into a humorous anecdote. What Neel is really

  • 2. The Importance Of A Planning Practice At The Asian Region Introduction According to Abbot and Adler (467), the history identifies a set of opportunities that must be a part of a planning practice, it should provide practical ways to define and explore the actual institution and theoretical settings to balance the situation. This statement takes me back in time while visiting the Asian Region such as the Philippines during my childhood, it is probably one of the most wonderful experiences I ever had. I would like to look back on the beauty of the Philippines more than ten years ago, particularly the Banaue Rice Terraces in Cordillera. Although this place is naturally beautiful and considered as the unofficial 8th Wonders of the World according to the UNESCO World Heritage during 1995 (Brown, Brown Walder, 2006), but this place has gained little popularity. The place needs restoration because of the constant rains and floods, there are also illegal loggers that are cutting down the trees and ruining their resources. It is a sign that it has not given significant importance or it is somehow neglected. According to history, the native people choose to live on the mountain rather than be taken as slaves by the Spanish tyrants during the war. Civilization and modernization have come after the invasion, but they are able to preserve their culture, language, and history when they choose to settle in this isolated place. According to Mandelbaum (185 188), a sense of history is good for the profession because it builds solidarity and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why Google Is Unjust How strong are you addicted to Google? Google is not at fault for people constantly being on the internet. People use technology so often and it s been blamed onto one site like Google. In reality, how often is that user on the internet. Also, many other sites are just as used as Google is. Does that make those websites also unjust? The word unjust is defined as lacking in justice or fairness, which, in reference to the proposed question suggests that Google is being held to a legal or moral standard. In reality Google simply provides a means to gather and research information and does not set the rules. It is at the discretion of the users how the acquired information will be interpreted and used. It is in hands of the user on how to use Google. We have all heard that with great power comes great responsibility. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One just has to type in their desired information into the search bar. Next, the user scrolls through the results until one sparks the searcher s interest. After clicking on the link, the user weeds through the site to see if this information can be beneficial to their desired goal. Once finding the information that was sought after, the user can then implement that information in whatever fashion they desire. This information can be used for an educational assignment or just for simple knowledge. The most crucial step in this whole process is going through the plethora of information that Google puts in front of you. Some of this information may be truthful, and others can be viewed as false information. The user must keep a cautious approach to avoid sources that may have this false information. A user can avoid this problem by using credible sources and creating a more comprehensive search. Once this information is in the hands of the user, it is out of the hands of Google and therefore no longer their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Did Alfred Hitchcock Turn Into Blockbuster Films Alfred Hitchcock s journey to international filmmaking stardom started small but ended with him being considered the best director of the 20th century. Alfred directed many films throughout his life. His career started in a humble London film studio and working on small films, working his way up to Hollywood, CA, in massive Paramount studios and producing blockbuster films. Alfred Hitchcock was arguably one of the most experienced and imaginative filmmakers of the 20th century. Alfred Hitchcock developed his technical experience for film during many years of hard work and determination while working under other directors. Alfred acquired many of his skills while working as a director s assistant in London. As a director s assistant, Alfred would do many odd jobs. • 5. Pawel Kuczynski s Art Essay Phones are the easiest and most common way to get connected. Through his art, Pawel Kuczynski is warning the audience of problems that phones cause among people. The artist has created many paintings to convey the idea of technology causing people to become separated and disconnected from one another. Kuczynski s art could be seen as a metaphor for young people, being connected through technology but still isolated in loneliness. Phones are most likely the most commonly used source of communication in the world; which begs the question of how they could possibly be disconnecting people. The title alone, Islands, suggests to the audience a sense of distance and isolation. That is also conveyed in the painting itself with the use of perspective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The title again has reference to the picture but doesn t convey the actual meaning. There is a person scrolling through their phone while the snow falls. The person has been there so long that a snow man was made on his back. This another great use of satire by Kuczynski. He has developed such a playful way of calling attention to these overarching societal problems that no one really seems to be talking about. The person in the picture isn t really living his life. All of his time has been consumed with the phone that only has virtual images on it. It s crazy how technology has done the opposite of what it was intended to do. Instead of playing in the snow with his friends his just sitting out in the cold all alone. Every time I go out I notice fewer people communicating with one another verbally. The common thought is that social media, phones, and just technology in general connects people of all kinds across the globe. Connecting with people through the use of technology has a few positives but what about the overwhelming negative aspects. Millions of people can connect to children and other adults with horrifying intentions. Cyberbullying is becoming prevalent in schools. Kids are being exposed to things they shouldn t be. Predators lurk online all the time. Technology is expanding every day and more people are able to gain access to it. A CNN article stated that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. school nurse School Nurse Spending two days shadowing a school nurse was a wonderful experience. I had the pleasure of doing my school nurse rotation at Fox Creek Junior High School. I never realized how difficult and overwhelming it could be to be a school nurse. Ms. Bodauine was the nurse I got to shadow. She spent her day doing paperwork, helping the sick and injured, and doing vision and hearing screenings. There were several kids who came in throughout the day, approximately twenty one per day that was either sick or injured. Upon each kids visit, I had the opportunity to observe, assess, and communicate with them. I was able to observe behaviors of some children showing Industry vs. Inferiority, according to Erickson. Children that experienced real health care needs were, the ones that came in with swollen tonsils, fevers, bloody noses, visible cuts and scrapes on elbows and knees, and a kid complaining of chest pain that was diaphoretic and dizzy. One student stated that she had a headache and stomach ache and wanted to go home. She stated the pain had been going on for two days. When asking if she wanted Tylenol for the headache and crackers for the stomachache she said no she just wanted to go home. Ms. Boudauine did a very good job at handling this situation. She explained to the girl how important it was to go to class, but if she really weren t feeling well she would call her mother to come pick her up. Ms. Boudauine was very caring and considerate toward the girl. The girl ended up going home, but while waiting for her mother to arrive she sat in the nurse s office doing homework and chatting with all the other students that came in. Keating Redfern Speech Through manipulating the power of rhetorical devices in anthology of speeches, orators accentuate the significance of language and learning as a platform for prompting an abiding social change. Hence, an effective speech highlights composer s contextual issues and ideas that resonates within their immediate audience, envisaging a social equity. Lessing s On Not Winning the Nobel Prize, delivered at the Nobel Lecture in 2007, explores the power of language to fuel radical social reform in Zimbabwe, through the representation of educational inequality. Through this notion, she reveals the significance of language and learning as a catalyst that inspires individuals to sustain through their hardships, engaging her intended audience to appreciate the value of literature as a platform for social reform. Furthermore, Lessing employs inclusive language to heighten the significance of language to engender social progress, communicating that it is our stories that will recreate us, when we are torn...even destroyed...that is our phoenix . • 8. Pros And Cons Of The Georgia Colony Was the Georgia colony a success or failure? While the colony of Georgia was successful in defense however; charity and economy were a disappointment. In 1732 King George 2 granted a charter by giving named trustees permission to establish the Georgia Colony. Until 1752 the Georgia Colony had seen both dark and light moments; some of which include the construction of the settlement, the establishment of Fort Frederica, as well as declaring war on Spain. The corporation was made to be a charitable body, so none of the trustees could receive or buy land of their own. Also Because of the small amount of land everyone on the new settlement received there were several complaints about going into poverty and not having enough slaves or workers to help establish the colony. James Oglethorpe and 20 other trustees finally decided that they would do whatever it took to make the colony a utopian city. Because Georgia had such a great defense system; it won the battle of bloody marsh; and defeated the Spanish. This was accomplished by raising the first alarm at fort William, evidence for this is found in document D, The first alarm was raised by the garrison at Fort William, which successfully kept several Spanish galleons from entering the inland waterway (Colonial Coastal Fortifications Document D). George Bush Speech On Homeland Security George Bush vs Obama on Homeland Security George bush and Obama have very differing opinions on homeland security and terrorism from their different experiences during presidency. George Bush was president of the United States when the world trade centers were the target of a terror attack. 9/11 was the day that changed our country forever. During his presidency he also had to deal with the war in Iraq from the beginning. Unlike Bush, Obama does not agree in war and insisted on taking our soldiers out of Iraq and back home. Although we weren t involved as much in the war we did kill Osama bin Laden while Obama has been in office. Both Bush and Obama come from very different backgrounds and served as presidents at different time periods, so obviously have very different opinions on how to run the country and especially on homeland security. I am using Bush s remarks in address to the nation at the Cross Hall for his speech. For Obamas speech, I will be using a speech from the 2012 State of Union Address. Comparing Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Our Time Soul Writing in Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl and Our Time Real writing, soul writing is dangerous; there is an intrinsic, gut churning element of risk within the process of telling the truth, a risk that yields an adrenaline rush that parallels skydiving and skinny dipping. The thrill of one s own truth displayed nakedly in little black letters on a white page is scary and beautiful, both chaining and freeing. The issue for authors, like skydivers, is that after they jump out of the plane (start writing) the fears don t disappear. The diver author asks herself, Should I really be doing this... But Jacobs is not only making this point clear to the reader; she is making it clear to herself. In writing her story, Jacobs comes to terms with herself. Wideman similarly employs the use of the question. While struggling with the issue of telling his brother s story without making it his own, he asks the reader a string of questions: And if I did learn to listen, wouldn t there be a point at which I d have to take over the telling? Wasn t there something fundamental in my writing, in my capacity to function, that depended on flight, on escape? Wasn t another person s skin a hiding place, a place to work out anxiety, to face threats too intimidating to handle in any other fashion? Wasn t writing about people a way of exploiting them? (722). Wideman, uncomfortable with his relationship between his brother, the text, and himself, makes his plight obvious in order to receive affirmation from the reader who is forced to ask herself what she would do. The question, in this case, is an extremely effective rhetorical device because the answer, being obviously split, makes the reader feel the same dichotomy with which the writer struggles. The bombardment of questions delivers the reader into a state of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Oxford English Dictionary defines the torque as A collar, necklace, bracelet, or similar ornament consisting of a twisted narrow band or strip, usually of precious metal, worn especially by the ancient Gauls and Britons. Gold and wealth is described at length in Beowulf, suggesting that it has a large significance in Scandinavian culture. It is often given by kings to their tribes to ensure loyalty from their people , and also to demonstrate their successes in battle. Here Wealhtheow offers this torque to Beowulf, asking him to take delight (1216) in it, and to wear it for luck (1217). This suggests Wealhtheow is distracting Beowulf from King Hrothgar s desire to adopt him as a son, and entreating him to simply accept the status of warrior by offering him a reward of gold. She also uses prolepsis to predict a future for Beowulf, further ensuring that he is not dissatisfied with his position as a warrior Be acclaimed for strength, for kindly guidance/ to these two boys, and your bounty will be sure (1219 1220). • 19. U.s. History And American History US HISTORY FINAL PAPER Throughout the history of the United States from the 1500 s to 1865 a number of enduring motifs played out that shaped the future of the country. This is the place in time where the origins of racist ideologies can be traced back to the introduction of slavery to the American agricultural system in order to justify its malicious immorality. The 1500 s also saw the infancy of the specialization of the different regional economies of America to capitalize on what was closely available and abundant, and scarce and needed in another region; and by the 1860 s those regional economies had developed into behemoths that exported their products on large scales, not only domestically but internationally as well. But the most important theme of U.S. history from the 1500 s to 1865 was expansion, from Europe to colonial America, and then the westward expansion of the United States. I believe the theme of expansion is so integral to American history because it incorporates elements of the previous two themes (racism and racist ideologies, and specialized regional development) into it; the European colonial expansion is where the regional economies and values where first developed and still exist, in some aspects, to this day. This theme is also so important because the differing opinions on how to carry out the westward expansion of the United States, specifically whether the new states would slave states or free states, eventually became so contentious and ... • 26. Uncertainty And Imperfect Information On Entrepreneurship Uncertainty and Imperfect information in entrepreneurship are two important concepts that should be considered in the role of entrepreneurs. According to (Klir, 1999) uncertainty has many methods and dimensions and can include concepts such as vagueness, disagreement and conflict, imprecision and non specificity The term uncertainty can be defined broadly as any deviation from the unachievable ideal of completely deterministic knowledge of the relevant system (Walker, 2003). Uncertainty could mean unpredictability, doubt or fear of the unknown. It has to do with the risk entrepreneurs take in business. Imperfect information on the other hand means lack of adequate information before embarking on the business. It can also be viewed as incomplete collection of facts or flawed communication. These two concepts play vital roles in businesses and if not carefully considered and handled, they can have adverse effects on businesses. Who Are Entrepreneurs? He sees Shakespeare s transformation of a barbarous negro into a respected soldier and nobleman of stature as ignorant, since at the time, African Americans were not known as nothing except as slaves. The bond between Othello and his wife was strong enough to not care what others thought about their relationship. Of course this made a tremendous amount of people/characters upset and flustered because of the marriage and the difference in Desdemona and Othello race. Othello s intended ethnicity ... • 30. The Importance Of Liberal Arts In Business Education Over the years, schools of business education had not seen the need to incorporate liberal arts into their programs. In the past, employment rates for liberal arts majors had been generally low, which caused the school of business to turn away from the major and not want anything to do with it. According to a study conducted at Georgetown University, liberal arts majors were found to have one of the top unemployment rates at 8.4% (Dumbauld, 2016). They have not provided great job opportunities and have left their students paying off large amounts of debt with not a lot of money coming in to pay them. Business once viewed liberal arts as a waste of time, since only certain subjects were being taught. During the 1970s and 1980s, many colleges began to shift from liberal arts to professional education in order to meet students demands and maintain enrollment (Delucchi, 2009, p. 175). With this new restructuring of more business majors being added to the undergraduate curriculum, a demand driven response had risen to changed student interests (Delucchi, 2009, p. 175). Business has become such a popular major because it is needed in so many fields and assures graduates with a stable career path. Liberal arts colleges cannot guarantee this same promise due to claims of not having a distinctive educational identity and a clear social and political class. Only certain institutions have been able to support specific liberal arts graduates with high standing positions in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During this scene we witness Solomon claiming his bride (3:6 11), extolling her beauty (4:1 7), and lastly as already mentioned, consummating the marriage. For the duration of these events, we gain a valuable insight of the sexual relationship in its purest form as God designed it. The couple enjoys a mountain top experience as they share their love and he tells her how beautiful she is. This lovemaking is wholesome not twisted and perverted as postmodern society has made it out to be. This snapshot of sex should be the standard for all sexual relationships, but mankind in general has turned its back on God; That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires.
