dependent on destructive fossil fuels for its energy supply. Our country is producing a quarter of the
world s pollution. Usage of fossil fuels has increasingly contributed to the CO2 emissions, which is
polluting our environment. It is destroying natural habitats and causing an increase in health problems.
If our harmful methods continue, our planet will eventually become uninhabitable. Fossil fuels are
considered a nonrenewable resource, which means we are required to find a new and clean renewable
energy source. These new energy sources must be readily available for the world s energy demands.
Our vision should focus on environmentally friendly and efficient energies such as wind and solar

When I was young, many of the neighborhood kids and I would enjoy playing outside. Whether it was
sports, ride bikes, or roller skate, the activities we partook in always involved physical activity and
thus, a higher risk of getting hurt. When such an incident occurred, which was quite often, we would
at times not be able to do much about it since most of our parents worked. We would rely on them for
first aid but when they were gone all of us would not know how to handle such a situation. This

eventually purchased my own first aid kit with my savings at the age of fourteen and would use it on
my friends and even my family when needed. From a young age, I developed an interest in providing
first aid to people and became very happy when I saw one of my friends or family members recover
from minor wounds that I assisted in during the healing process. My sense of fulfillment towards
making a positive impact amongst the community brought to light that public health was right for me.

identity in today s society, however, the creator imbeds the series with hidden messages that are not
particularly intended. The show exemplifies how people of color try to deal with living in a society
where they are not particularly welcome in a place of elite higher education. It follows a group of
colored students as they navigate through life in college attending a primarily white Ivy League
university. In the series, the creator implements the ideas of two sided racism, political correctness,
and misplaced power.
Although this show suggests it is about white people and their faults, Simien portrays two sided
racism in the series although it is not addressed head on. The show s protagonist, Sam White who is
also a woman, is characterized as the angry black chic on campus because she believes all white
people have white privilege. She speaks her mind through her radio show Dear White People where
she bashes white people and their beliefs. Throughout the series, Sam speaks against white people as
oppressors, however, most people don t recognize that this is also a form of racism. For example, in
season one episode one, Sam is caught in a scandalous relationship with a white man. Those who look
up to her as a leader to the black community are disgusted with her. As the episode progresses Sam
tried to integrate her white boyfriend, Gabe, into her group but he is not welcomed. This implies that
one should not mix with the other side or everything you stand for is void. Although the show doesn t
blatantly state it Sam s group of colored friends are oppressing white people. Oppressing those who
oppress others does not make one right. The colored characters in this series blame all white people
for their problems and portray white people as always in the wrong. The show is focused on how
white people oppress others and further racism, however, what one doesn t recognize is that when the
group being oppressed upon retaliates with the exclusion of their oppressors it doesn t make them any
