How Does Delillo Present The Fear Of Death In White Noise
The fear of death is one of the most prominent themes in White Noise. Everything in the novel from
Hitler to the toxic airborne event circles back to how human beings are subconsciously afraid of
dying. DeLillo s novel displays how life attempts to push this fear away, almost saying out of sight,
out of mind . Yet, as we see in the characters of Jack and Babette, the fear continues to rear its ugly
head and fill them with terror. DeLillo shows this close relationship between life and death. He could
be trying to show how death lingers dangerously in the background of our lives. The toxic event
changed the way Jack Gladney feared death. Not only did it make his fear worse, but it made him
absolutely terrified of it. During the event, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This could be based on the fact that no matter who you are or what you do, death is inevitable. I
believe that Jack relates to a Hitler like persona because he relates to this idea of life credit . When
Jack is talking to Murray, Murray mentions that to kill another person is to gain life credit. The more
people you kill, the more credit you store up (DeLillo pg. 277). This is similar to Hitler, from my own
knowledge, I already know that Hitler thought the more people he killed the more power he would
gain and the more invincible he would feel. Jack seems to have the same mindset because he thinks
killing a man will give him more time. He is almost trying to cheat death and outlive the chemical
inside of him. I feel like Jack thinks that if he kills someone, he gains whatever years they had left. As
any rational person would know, this is just simply impossible, but Jack seems to believe this illusion
is his ticket to maximizing the time he has left. The common theme between these two passages is that
death is an inescapable process. I found it very interesting that the toxic event happened before Jack
shot Willie Mink. The toxic event only made it more clear to Jack that he is going to die because of his
chemical exposure, however it also hastened his dying process. This is why I find it so strange that
Jack tried to kill Mr. Mink. From my understanding, Jack was under the impression that killing
someone would extend his life, however he knows that he

My Antonia Passages Analysis
In My Antonia, Willa Cather uses Nature as a metaphor for many things, allowing her to expand upon
her major themes and ideas. Growing up, and the changes that one goes through during this
development, is something that Cather focuses on with many of her characters, but especially with
Jim. She often uses detailed descriptions of Nature to show some of the things that Jim is feeling.
Several passages in the novel describe Nature with either a strongly negative or a strongly positive
connotation. These are depictions of Jim s emotions as his outlook on life changes. Other passages are
used to carry across the correlation between Nature and purity. Purity is usually assumed to be related
to being unchanged by or free from the harshness of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Antonia is very close with Nature, and naturality, which is one of the reasons why Jim is so awed and
inspired by her. The role of Nature in My Antonia is to illustrate some of the major motifs that Cather
presents, including growing up and purity.
Authors often use weather to indicate the mood of a scene. For instance, an author might make it rain
on a day when there is much depression for the characters, or sunny on a day with happiness. Cather,
however, is able to use Nature not just in terms of weather and how it can be used as foreshadowment,
but also in terms of land and how it can express a character s perspective. My Antonia begins with Jim
leaving everything he has ever known behind and traveling to live in Nebraska with his grandparents.
His parents have just died, and he does not know what awaits him. This is the first of many changes in
Jim s life during the span of My Antonia. And as with all of the changes, Cather does not directly
explain how Jim is feeling, even in his thoughts. Instead, she chooses to use his actions and
perspective on life to describe how certain changes have affected him. On his journey to his
grandparents home, Jim is in a cart and cannot sleep. He decides to take a look

History Of Science And Conceptual Understanding
History of science and conceptual understanding
According to Richard K Moran, and Page K, in Teaching for Conceptual Understanding in Science ,
Studying history of science is important because it enable students understand the development of
thought, and generalization would be empty without concrete examples. In addition, One important
concern for shutting history of science out of the undergraduate science curriculum was an anxiety
expressed about the history of science that the history of science is composed of hypocrisy and
skepticism science scoundrels , therefore, it is condemned by the scientific community. It also
indicates that although there were early scientists naive thinking and ideas, such early thinking
contribute to direct our present thinking and make students conceptual changes. It takes long time for
students to make change and build their personal knowledge to become accepted. Moreover, it
mentions that one important misconception about the history of science is there are no mistakes and
wrong turns science has taken; the development of science is only thought is cumulative, and
continuous in science from one generation to another one. Such an error is attributed to distorted
histories of science; especially those found in science textbooks, and contribute to widening the gap
between historian and students. Furthermore, it indicates that one important criteria of choosing
between competing and alternative theories is those, which show

Love In Hamlet And Ophelia
Love is different for each and every individual. It is so powerful that people cry, suffer pain, or even
risk their lives to save it. But there are other kinds of love: elusive love, tortured love, or even the love
that you feel for someone but cannot embrace it for fear of other, larger events. It is that kind of love
that seems to be the most prevalent in William Shakespeare s Hamlet, especially when it comes to
Hamlet s relationship with Ophelia, the daughter of King Claudius s advisor, the ever forgetful and
meddling Polonius. The love that Hamlet claimed he had for Ophelia was not only fabricated, but
unhealthy, which untimely led to her death. After a long meditation on the nature of being and death,
Hamlet catches sight of Ophelia. As she attempts to return some of the remembrances that Hamlet
gave when courting her, Hamlet caustically questions Ophelia s honesty. He denies ever having given
Ophelia anything and continues to erratically claim that he loved her once before declaring that he
never loved her at all. The problem here is that no one knows the exact intent of Hamlet as he claims
to love Ophelia amidst a number of happenings that questions how genuine his love towards Ophelia.
Not only does he doubt her honesty because he knew about her plan with Polonius and Claudius to
eavesdrop on him, he is unsure of her purity and her love for him and he tells her, get thee to a
nunnery rather than give birth to sinners ( ). Increasingly agitated, Hamlet condemns marriage itself,
saying that no more marriages should be allowed, before exiting the room and leaving Ophelia in
shambles. Looking deeper into the behavior that Hamlet demonstrates in this scene, there is
completely no love that he shares with Ophelia. In a way, Hamlet seems convinced that Ophelia is the
love of her life, but yet he has the behavior of insulting her and not giving her the priority that she
needs. His character portrays a man who cannot be connected to his self and this leads him to a
number of problems as regards the way he treats Ophelia. It is not just the feelings that Hamlet has
towards Ophelia that describes his love for her but his actions say a lot on the feeling that is in the
inside. Reaching to an extent that he can

Renewable Energy For The Changing World
Karina Vanous Smith
Political Economy 13 January 2015
Renewable Energy for the Changing World
Currently, there is a call for alternative energies to replace our harmful energy sources that are
bringing the world closer and closer to global warming. As of right now, America s economy is mostly
dependent on destructive fossil fuels for its energy supply. Our country is producing a quarter of the
world s pollution. Usage of fossil fuels has increasingly contributed to the CO2 emissions, which is
polluting our environment. It is destroying natural habitats and causing an increase in health problems.
If our harmful methods continue, our planet will eventually become uninhabitable. Fossil fuels are
considered a nonrenewable resource, which means we are required to find a new and clean renewable
energy source. These new energy sources must be readily available for the world s energy demands.
Our vision should focus on environmentally friendly and efficient energies such as wind and solar
power. Becoming more dependent on wind and solar power would mean having an infinite amount of
energy and create more job opportunities, which would help the world s economy as well.
Americans use wind and solar energy because they are not only environmentally friendly, but are
affordable and an abundant source of energy. The United States has some of the best wind resources in
the world, with enough potential energy to produce nearly 10 times the country s existing power needs

WEB SERVICES AND SEMANTIC WEB
The question of the relationship between these two activities is constantly in the air.
The whole description side is a clear semantic web application, and so long as XML languages are
defined which introduced with English language specs but no RDF mapping, there is a potential
ambiguity which will have to be resolved later in making that mapping, there is an inability to use
common semantic web tools, and there is cost down the road assuming semantic web tools will
eventually be used. Essentially, web serve ices become instant legacy technology for the semantic
web.
The DAML services collation of researchers is tackling the job of service description at a higher level.
Many things which are described as web services can in fact be described as the publication of a series
of semantic web documents, just as the billing of a peer company is in reality effected by the issuance
of an invoice.
When Semantic Web agents query each other, they could use SOAP (though a direct encoding into an
HTTP URI may also be effective).
When Semantic Web agents update each other, they should use SOAP, running typically over HTTP
POST.

Crossing Boundaries Research Paper
Crossing boundaries is needed but the full potential is never achieved. The majority of people needs to
cross boundaries in several points of their life to reach their potential, but no one ever reaches their
full potential, however, crossing boundaries is an effective step toward reaching the full potential if it s
ever to be reached yet crossing boundaries is essential for achieving a goal or a dream. The full
potential is when consummating the whole list of goals in life and this list is never accomplished
because no one ever stops adding to their list, anyhow , if they stop, their life would be a plain,
straight road with no ups and downs, no directions, no houses or buildings, no sessions, just a plain,
long, straight road, and undoubtedly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Memories are a humans s small time machines for traveling to their past at anytime. The relation
found in Li s story also in Villawood Mum s about how they crossed boundaries physically but they
kept holding on to their memories, their memories were the only bridge to their old lives. Crossing a
specific boundary may not be just physical, it is also metaphorically and that s has a giant impact on
the psychological state. So when Li left his family and moved on to start his career in the Ballet
Academy, he spent the first years in the school in remembrance of his old life and he didn t move
forward because he was stuck between his past and present. His family was always there with him and
he mentioned that in this line: I couldn t stop thinking of my family back home. ( p.118), his memories
lived within him and the evidence is the acknowledgment of many details, stories and photos that are
found in his autobiography. Photos are the best way to translate a moment and keep it alive for ever. Li
had all his pictures kept and they are shown in his autography, and this can be related to the Villawood
Mums, they ve kept all their old photos and that s clearly shown in the film, when Maria and Zahoor
were talking about their old lives. The technique used is symbolism , because they used the images to
present the importances of their memories that they had kept. So crossing the boundaries

Family System Theory And Early Childhood Practice
Edward Teyber once said, family system theory offers therapists an invaluable way of understanding
their clients strengths and problems clarifying the familial rules, roles, myths, communication
patterns, and boundary issues that defined their clients development. Also, as said in the article
Understanding Families Applying Family System Theory to Early Childhood Practice that a family
system theory has a primary concept in which is that the family includes interconnected members, and
each member influences the other in predictable and occurring ways. (pg. 5).
First, based on the article read boundaries relate to limits, togetherness, and separateness, what or who
is in or out of the family (pg. 5, Walsh Giblin 1988). However, I thought that having boundaries is
important in a family because through boundaries we know when we can step into certain areas or
when can t we know. My experience in my family system theory as having boundaries was that was
that we each had an individual room, individual spaces, and trust within our own decision. I also was
able to give my own opinion but I needed to know which was the right timing and to never step over
the adult conversation.
In a family there is usually a peacemaker, a clown, a rescuer, and a victim, although there can be many
other roles as well , (pg. 7) this was said in the article that I read. I thought that role was one of the
most important on a family system theory due to that the roles in a family are

Asian Financial Crisis

I. Introduction
For about twenty years, East Asian countries were held up as economic idols. They were hailed as the
ideal models for strong economic growth of developing countries because of their high savings and
investment rates, autocratic political systems, export oriented business, restricted domestic markets,
government capital allocation, and controlled financial systems.
They were even stories about The East Asian Miracle because of the extraordinary growth rates they
achieved and the speed with which they have transformed themselves from poor countries into
industrial powerhouses. Western leaders were impressed by their ability to continue to achieve ...

Thais real estate business boomed, owning property and selling or leasing it for development became
one of the most popular businesses in their country. Rich Thai players entered into collusion with local
and foreign banks, mostly Japanese banks, to loan more money just to keep on building. Because of
overbuilding, they were no longer able to rent out most of their new office and condo space. Prices
dropped due to oversupply, so they couldn t get nearly as much money on what they used to built
those. When the bank loans became due, they couldn t pay. This also became a contributing factor in
the problem faced by Thailand during the Asian currency crisis. They wern t able to weigh whether
investments in buildings are worthwhile, they were reckless and the only thing they though was the
funds they were able to get for building those infrastructures. Their foreign borrowing went to
prestigious projects with no solid economic returns.
Another reason behind the 1997 Asian financial crisis was the large current account deficits. Asian
leaders agreed that large current account deficits could not be good, but they made the logical
economic argument that if a current account deficit mostly reflects higher investment, it would
eventually increase an economy s competitiveness and therefore its ability to repay the debt, and
would certainly be more sustainable than a deficit driven by

Freud s Theory Of Personality
Freud gave counseling a unique and powerful way to look at the human mind by observing and taking
note of the conscious and unconscious mind and how those thoughts could reflect human behavior.
Freud also emphasized the importance of early life experiences and how they shape the human mind
and behaviors. In my opinion, I believe that Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory of Personality would be
the most practical approach for me to utilize in a counseling situation. His theory identifies many
aspects of the conscious and unconscious while exploring different defense mechanisms people often
attribute to reduce or cope with anxiety. Freud also stresses the psychosexual stages of development
and how those experiences could affect a person s conscious, preconscious or subconscious being.
According to Freud, there are three separate yet autonomous parts of the mind that are important to
understanding a person. The three parts of the mind, as described by Freud are the conscious,
preconscious and the subconscious mind. The conscious mind, or the Ego, is the conscious mind that
is at the surface of a person s personality and could readily be accessible to to draw out what a person
is thinking about. The conscious mind is also a persons personality which is automatic and constructed
of the superego s balance of the animal like instincts of the ID. An example could be when a counselor
would ask the client what his favorite color would be. The person s response to this type of question is

The Louisiana Purchase Essays
The Louisiana Purchase was done in the year 1803. In this purchase the United
States of America paid fifteen million dollars to get all the land west of the Mississippi
River and east of the Rocky Mountains. This transaction was done between Thomas
Jefferson and the great Napoleon. The benefits that the United States of America
experienced from this purchase were numerous. For one, it gave the U.S. complete
control of the Mississippi, which in tern helped many farmers with transporting
goods. Second, it more than doubled the size of the United States. With this huge
amounts of land, the government could set up more farms to feed the young but
growing nation. Despite these benefits, however, many people believe ... Show more content on

When the ambassadors have arrived in Paris, they quickly began to negotiate with
Napoleon and his advisors. Napoleon then offered the American ambassadors a deal of a
lifetime the whole Louisiana lands for only fifteen million dollars. Now why would
France want to sell all this land? For one, there was a civil war in the Island of Haiti.
There the slaves have revolted and won independence from France. Napoleon tried
hopelessly to get the Island of Haiti back under control, but it was to no avail. Without
control of Haiti the lands of Louisiana were useless to France, and thus Napoleon decided
to sell it to the Americans. Moreover, Napoleon was planning to conquer all of Europe,
this meant war with Great Britain. Since Napoleon knew that Britain would easily
gain France s overseas lands, he decided to sell them for fifteen million dollars. Robert
Livingston and James Monroe contacted Jefferson, who only wanted to get New Orleans,
for advice, and the final decision. Jefferson, seeing it as an opportunity, agreed to pay
fifteen million dollars to get all of the Louisiana lands. This land sale, probably the
largest in history, was negotiated early in 1803. (Curti 247).
Napoleon s offer to sell land pleased Jefferson, but it also troubled him, for he
believed that the Constitution did not allow him to buy huge amounts of land. This was

when the massacres and deportations finally ended, about 1.5 million of Turkey s Armenians were
dead, with many more forcibly removed from the country. Today, most historians call this event a

Seligman s Theory Of Learned Helplessness
Learned helplessness refers to an organism learning to accept and endure an aversive stimulus that it
cannot escape even when it is avoidable. This theory shows that having some control over our lives is
preferable to no control at all. Based on the original theory of learned helplessness, one of the key
factors in Seligman s theory were uncontrollability and repeated cruelty or neglect. Based on many
experiments done by Seligman, controllability determines if one is suffering from learned
helplessness. This often leads to perceived lack of control and may lead to helpless behaviour
(Abramson, Seligman Teasdale, 1978). Also, repeated cruelty or neglect contributes to the key factors
in Seligman s theory. It involves aversive stimulus that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once again, dogs in both groups were given electric shocks. However, the reaction was very different
as the dogs in Group two did not try to escape and whimpered instead.
Later, Seligman (1974) introduced the Learned Helplessness Theory of Depression. Seligman saw the
behaviour of these animals which might apply similarly to human depression. Animals exposed to
unavoidable shock showed passivity, in which Seligman felt in line with the typical behaviour of
depression. Other similar symptom were lack of appetite and weight loss (Rehm, 1990). However, one
part of learned helplessness that did not occur in animals was the process of demonstrating learned
helplessness through vicarious learning (Bandura, 1986). There were other differences in the human
models of learned helplessness as compared to the animal models such as shocks due to ethical
concerns. Therefore, researches used variables such as loud noises as the aversive event. Participants
were given solvable or unsolvable tasks and were exposed to a loud noise. Participants in unsolvable
tasks failed in attempting to escape the loud noise. Other research has also been able to induce learned
helplessness in human participants with different types of

This paper challenges the obsession with outcomes as part of the current preoccupation with
accountability. The paper recognizes and concurs with the importance of setting and trying to meet
clearly defined targets. But it argues that many crucial and equally important developments
inadvertently can be overlooked in the quest to quantify.
The word of the week is outcomes. The subtext is accountability. No one can deny that these two
imperatives are driving most agendas these days. Performance measurement for the private, public and
voluntary sectors is a booming business. Private firms, governments and voluntary organizations are
under pressure to demonstrate that they are functioning in a cost effective and efficient manner.
The concern for accountability is being fuelled by many factors. The private sector always has been
interested in outcomes. The bottom line actual output at the end of the day is the primary driving
force. The private sector must account to its customers and shareholders. In fact, there is growing
discussion about the need to relate to an even broader audience of interested parties, typically referred
to as stakeholders.
The requirement to perform effectively and efficiently is nothing new. But the pressures appear to
have become all the more intense in a highly competitive
Some would argue that governments newfound concern with effectiveness and efficiency arises from
more than political considerations alone. Perhaps

The Meaning of Respect Essay
Most people go through life and always hear about the word respect, but they don t know what it
means. Respect is the esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person. There are things in
life you need to hold in respect. Respect for yourself, respect for others, and respect for property.
Respect is taught to people everywhere and it is even taught to them in their religions. Respect is the
very aspect that keeps everything in your life. Respect for yourself is very important to a person
because it can be the balancing factor of your life. If a person has no respect for themselves the will

Social Contribution Of Helen Garner
Public intellectuals consider as people who are realised for their works and social contributions not
only by academic audiences and readers, but also by the general public. Although the concept of
Australian public intellectual and what exactly it means has been the subject of considerable
controversy and debate by Tanner (2010), it would be difficult to discount the influence of public
intellectuals on society s opinion. In this essay, the biography, different aspects of the work and social
contribution of Helen Garner as one of the Australian public intellectuals will be explored.
Helen Garner is an Australian writer, novelist, screen writer and journalist. She was born in Geelong,
Victoria on 7 November 1942. Helen studied Bachelor of Art, in which she completed majors in
English and French at the University of Melbourne. After finishing her study, she started working as a
high school teacher in the Victorian high schools between 1966 and 1972. However, her first job in
schools as a high school teacher did not have a pleasant outcome as she was fired by the Victorian
department of Education for sex education awareness which she gave her teenage students in class.
The story became viral, published in The Digger, a counter culture magazine in Melbourne, in which
Helen then started to write her ideas for two years afterward. Since then she has written novels,
articles, fiction and non fiction books. (Clews, 2015)
Garner s first novel, Monkey Grip, was published in 1977

My Own First Aid Kit
When I was young, many of the neighborhood kids and I would enjoy playing outside. Whether it was
sports, ride bikes, or roller skate, the activities we partook in always involved physical activity and
thus, a higher risk of getting hurt. When such an incident occurred, which was quite often, we would
at times not be able to do much about it since most of our parents worked. We would rely on them for
first aid but when they were gone all of us would not know how to handle such a situation. This
always bothered me so I started learning a few ways to treat minor wounds. I began to treat any
scrapes or scratches we got from falls or that resulted from any activities we were doing at the time. I
eventually purchased my own first aid kit with my savings at the age of fourteen and would use it on
my friends and even my family when needed. From a young age, I developed an interest in providing
first aid to people and became very happy when I saw one of my friends or family members recover
from minor wounds that I assisted in during the healing process. My sense of fulfillment towards
making a positive impact amongst the community brought to light that public health was right for me.

Analysis Of Dear White People
The television series Dear White People by Justin Simien portrays stereotypical problems of racial
identity in today s society, however, the creator imbeds the series with hidden messages that are not
particularly intended. The show exemplifies how people of color try to deal with living in a society
where they are not particularly welcome in a place of elite higher education. It follows a group of
colored students as they navigate through life in college attending a primarily white Ivy League
university. In the series, the creator implements the ideas of two sided racism, political correctness,
and misplaced power.
Although this show suggests it is about white people and their faults, Simien portrays two sided
racism in the series although it is not addressed head on. The show s protagonist, Sam White who is
also a woman, is characterized as the angry black chic on campus because she believes all white
people have white privilege. She speaks her mind through her radio show Dear White People where
she bashes white people and their beliefs. Throughout the series, Sam speaks against white people as
oppressors, however, most people don t recognize that this is also a form of racism. For example, in
season one episode one, Sam is caught in a scandalous relationship with a white man. Those who look
up to her as a leader to the black community are disgusted with her. As the episode progresses Sam
tried to integrate her white boyfriend, Gabe, into her group but he is not welcomed. This implies that
one should not mix with the other side or everything you stand for is void. Although the show doesn t
blatantly state it Sam s group of colored friends are oppressing white people. Oppressing those who
oppress others does not make one right. The colored characters in this series blame all white people
for their problems and portray white people as always in the wrong. The show is focused on how
white people oppress others and further racism, however, what one doesn t recognize is that when the
group being oppressed upon retaliates with the exclusion of their oppressors it doesn t make them any
better. This message is not obvious but still heavily embedded throughout the series.

possible effects that a poor parent child relationship has on the child. The main character of Death of a

Bohemian Rhapsody Mood
Bohemian Rhapsody Queen s iconic song, Bohemian Rhapsody , is no doubt one of the most
legendary hits of the 70s, and has transcended time and is still prevalent in today s society. My eighth
grade year relates to this song because I endured many ups and downs, and Bohemian Rhapsody s
change of mood, defiant lyrics and overall confusion about the song shows the theme of my past year.
My eighth grade year has been turbulent, with balancing school, friends, drama and sports. At times, I
felt insignificant and under appreciated, because I had worked so hard at something only to fall short.
But at other times, I was on cloud nine; my grades were high, my friends were happy and my family
was proud of me. I went through a lot of changes this year, and it was almost like a roller coaster. Like
the song says, Little high, little low/Anywhere the wind blows, (Mercury, lines 5 6). One minute I
would be at the epitome of success (in my eighth grade mind), and the next, I would be yanked down
by gravity at breakneck speed. But the worst times were when there weren t any peaks or valleys; life
was flat for a while, and it was scarier than that plunge. In Bohemian Rhapsody , the mood changes
many times. The songs starts soft and sad, questioning reality and emphasizing scariness of being
Caught in a landslide, no escape from reality, (Mercury, line 2). Sometimes, I felt that way. It was

Cultural Dominance Of Male Over Female
Antonio Gramsci s hegemony defined as the dominance of one group over another has been occurring
since the beginning of time. It is where a dominant force exerts its influence in society and exert their
own power over other groups. Hegemony is seen with the cultural dominance of male over female.
Because of this dominance men have assumed the right to determine what is masculine and what is
not. With hegemony, here will be always an opposing force that plans a strategy in order to combat
and defeat their adversary. Homosexuality is often depicted as inferiority. Heterosexual men see
homosexual men as adversary to be defeated. Men has defined their masculinity by very specific set of
behavior, habits and activities acting strong, being involved in sports and becoming engineer or
doctors. Any men who do not behave according to these characteristics is viewed as effeminate . A
young man like the actor in the movie who does not engage in vigorous sports but is interested in
theater and poetry and shows sensitivity is perceived as being a Sister Boy a code word for as being
Gay . This is a hint that a lack of what society perceives as masculinity is linked to homosexuality.
Homosexuals are attracted to people of their gender. Homosexuals are usually human beings very
aware of their gender, their masculinity or femininity while being attracted to members of the same
sex or gender. In the movie, this very sensitive and apparently fragile young man falls in love with an

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Written Contracts
The law recognizes that legally binding contracts can be written, verbal, or a mixture of both.
However, for business purposes, written contracts are usually preferred due to the following reasons:
The contents ( terms ) are in writing for all to see They can ensure that precise language is used in
describing the terms of the agreement There is, therefore, less opportunity for misunderstandings and
conflicting assumptions There is less need to rely on memories of what was originally agreed The

Marilyn Monroe Emotional Issues
One of the things a woman wants most in this world is for someone to relate and/or understand her.
Ever since I can remember, I ve had that one person to look up to that I felt could relate to me. As long
as I can remember, that person was Marilyn Monroe. At about the age of 5, I saw her face on the
television screen and by about the age of 12 years old, I was researching all I could about her. The
more I learned about her, the more my love grew for her and the more I knew she would understand
me if she were here today. Marilyn Monroe was an iconic celebrity but also very relatable to the
average woman who deals things such as tough emotional issues, harsh body image problems and
having a hard time trusting people or building relationships.
Everyone has issues that we deal with; we re only human, right? The emotional issues we deal with
daily can be anger, sadness, depression, etc. Marilyn dealt with these emotions as much as anyone
else, but there was a time she had said, I am not a victim of emotional conflicts. I am human . She
understood that as a human being, we all have emotional problems, but it s how one deals with their
emotions that matters. These emotional issues can stem from many different situations or moments in
our life. Dealing with a bully in school, an abusive parent or whatever it may be, can cause these
issues. Unfortunately, Marilyn had to deal with emotional issues stemming form the relationship with
her mother. One of Marilyn s family members was quoted saying: Gladys didn t hug, kiss or smile,
Marilyn s niece, Mona Rae Miracle, exclusively tells Closer. She was delusional, and she heard voices
from electrical appliances. She was antisocial and unable to express any emotion, except anger .
Marilyn s mother s inability to feel or express emotions was of no benefit to the growth of an
impressionable girl such as Marilyn. Marilyn unfortunately paid dearly from this and grew up battling
her emotions all of the time. So, knowing what we ve learned so far, there s no doubt that Marilyn
Monroe dealt with the same kind of problems your average jane deals with.
Emotional issues wouldn t be the only way for Marilyn to relate to us average Janes these days,

The Effects Of Alcohol Abuse On The Body
Alcohol abuse can also cause short term effects to the body. Although there are many different short
term effects, the most common happens to be a hangover which is a group of symptoms experienced
by a person after a heavy consumption of alcohol (Alcoholic 1). Symptoms of a hangover often
consist of nausea, fatigue, thirst, headache, diarrhea, and sensitivity to light and noise. The severity of
a hangover depends on several factors; these factors include the amount of alcohol consumed, the
level of hydration in the body at the time of alcohol consumption, and disease. Although hangovers
are the most common short term effect, blackouts are also a short term result of alcohol abuse.
Consuming large amounts of alcohol can lead to temporary amnesia where the person is unable to
recall events that occurred after he or she began drinking. Unfortunately, blackouts can lead to serious
repercussions, especially if the person is engaged in sexual activity during that time. Blackouts are
much more common among social drinkers than previously assumed and should be viewed as a
potential consequence of acute intoxication regardless of age (National 1). Drinkers who experience
blackouts typically drink too much and too quickly, which causes their blood alcohol levels to rise
very rapidly. Typically, college students are at risk for experiencing a blackout, as an alarming number
of college students engage in binge drinking. Even though these short term effects do not seem as bad

Persuasive Speech On Apprenticeships Pros And Cons
Hello from western North Dakota. I hope this un seasonably warm fall has found everyone in good
spirits, and that we don t wind up paying for it down the road. I haven t seen any frost teeth out there
yet, so I consider that a good sign!
I hope everyone has been paying attention to the recent boost in emphasis on education in North
Dakota, because in it may exist the ability to help foster interest in our apprenticeships, and ultimately
an increased interest in hiring our employers. Both of those, certainly are big positives. Fueled by a
large, bipartisan Congressional effort, the US Department of Labor awarded a $200,000
apprenticeship grant to North Dakota Job Service in early June. Following that award over the
summer, the North Dakota Department of Commerce hosted a series of apprenticeship accelerator
meetings around the state, in an effort to increase the amount of registered apprenticeships. In
cooperation with the Dept. of Labor, representatives of the ND Department of Commerce and ND Job
Service distributed specific instructions and maintain an open link on their websites, in an effort to
help private employers develop their own apprenticeship programs. While it would certainly be a good
thing if the general public became aware, and hopefully accepting, of the benefits that apprenticeships
can provide, this recent fanfare may only serve to obscure the differences between registered and joint
programs. I believe that we may be able to capitalize on

Cardiovascular System Essay
Cardiovascular system is powered by the body s hardest working organ the heart, which is only about
the size of a closed fist. Even at rest, the average heart easily pumps over 5 litres of blood throughout
the body every minute. The cardio vascular system delivers oxygen to the body tissues from the lungs
and nutrients to the liver from the intestines. The cardiovascular system also removes carbon dioxide
from the cells to the lungs, to be excreted and also removes waste products from the liver to the
kidneys. The cardiovascular system transports white blood cells, Antibodies and hormones to different
parts of the body.

The trachea filters the air we breathe and branches into the bronchi. Even though the trachea s main
function is the exchange of air, it also helps in protection from microbes and harmful substances. This,
in turn, prevents entry of harmful substances into deeper parts of the lungs, which would induce
malfunctioning. Tracheas have cartilage rings which support it
Bronchi.
One of the primary functions of bronchi is to allow air to pass through it. As the trachea splits into two
parts, the inhaled air enters the bronchi. From here, it passes through its further divisions, which are
known as bronchioles. This then divides to form alveolar ducts which eventually end into alveolar air
sacs or alveoli. Thus, these tubes basically act as a passage for air to pass.
Diaphragm
Breathing begins with a curved muscle underneath of the lungs called the diaphragm. When you
inhale the diaphragm decreases in size. When it decreases in size it evens out and pulls downward.
When you breathe out, the diaphragm expands reducing the amount of space for the lungs and forcing
air out. The diaphragm is the main muscle used in breathing. This movement makes the space that the
lungs are in to get bigger. This enlarges space then draws air into the

The Court Enforced Facebook s Terms Of Use And Based On A...
Professor Goldman blogged recently about a case involving Facebook where the court enforced
Facebook s terms of use and based on a venue clause in Facebook s terms transferred a dispute from
New York to California. The court delved into (and seemed to get bogged down in) the distinctions
between clickwrap and browsewrap agreements while eventually concluding that the plaintiff was
apprised of the terms (or should have been) so there was no reason not to enforce the contract. Kwan
v. Clearwire doesn t involve strictly online terms, but Clearwire was not so lucky. It botched its terms
of use (judging from the court s order it also botched its customer service efforts). End result: it can t
summarily move the dispute to arbitration and has to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Clearwire terms contained a class action waiver and an arbitration clause, and Clearwire sought to
have the dispute arbitrated pursuant to the Clearwire terms.
Brown signed up for a 14 day trial of Clearwire. She received a confirmation email from Clearwire
one week prior to receiving her modem. She tried to connect her modem but was unsuccessful, and
she alleged that she was not required to click any sort of acknowledgement before trying to connect
her modem. She called Clearwire to cancel her service, but was persuaded by Clearwire to renew her
trial period. Clearwire had a service technician check on Brown s modem. The technician arrived
while Brown was at work and Brown s roommate left the technician alone to try to get the modem
working. After the technician left, she tried to get the modem working, and it still would not work
properly. According to Brown, she discovered that use of her microwave interfered with her modem
signal. She tried to cancel her service, and after going back and forth with Clewrwire, Clearwire
finally agreed that she could cancel her service. Clearwire sent her shipping labels to return the
modem, but according to her, by the time she received the shipping labels from Clearwire, the labels
had expired. This prompted another round of back and forth with Clearwire s customer service.
Ultimately, she was able to return the modem to Clewarwire.
Reasonover s experience with Clearwire wasn t much better. She signed up

More and more, some good quality meat is becoming very expensive. Since a can of chickpeas is less
expensive and easier to cook, a lot of Quebec College students decide to take the meat out of their
diet. Everyone should do like those people and be vegetarian for the benefits that it as for society and
the environment. This diet is good for the human health, it helps save the planet and it helps save the
animals.
First, there are many health benefits that comes with being vegetarian. In the Harvard Health

meat eaters, vegetarians tend to consume less saturated fat and cholesterol and more vitamins C and E,
dietary fiber, folic acid, potassium, magnesium, and phytochemicals (plant chemicals), such as
carotenoids and flavonoids. As a result, they re likely to have lower total and LDL (bad) cholesterol,

heart disease, cancer and type 2 diabetes. In fact, vegetarians are 25% less likely to die from a heart
disease than meat eaters. This means that a lot of people could be saved with this diet. Personally, if I
could do anything to live longer and healthier, I would do it. Nowadays, we eat a lot of junk food, and
more and more people are dying because

Marketing Mix for a Clothing Store
Marketing Mix
PRODUCT
As a clothing store which is focusing on local designed and European designed clothes, our products
are going to be high end, fashionable, green and unique.
 First, because the trend of ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION develops very fast, we want to
encourage our designers to consider using green dressing materials or put some elements of eco
awareness in their creations. At the same time, we are going to use Environmental protection shopping
bag in our business and use green materials to decorate our store.
 Second, the elements of FASHION are the main selling point for us. We are going to collect some
latest designed creations from local designers in Vancouver or European cities. However, we know

 For the customized products: we need to calculate the total amount of cost of ordering, production
and delivery. We estimate the price of these products should be twice higher than our usual products.
(I just guess this price thing, you guys decide it....)
PROMOTION
Because our main selling point is local , so our promotion strategy should focus on local market.
 We want to promote our store through local newspaper but the space of our advertisement in
newspaper should not be too big. Consider of the cost of advertisement and the segment of market we
pick, we need a moderate size but cool advertisement to match up to our store.
 We also want to exhibit our products or the latest fashion design to the local markets. So, we want
to hold a launch party to exhibit these designs softly to potential customers. Not only when the store is
opening, but we want to hold this kind of party seasonal. We can also invite the designers and VIP
customers come to our party to communicate with each other. We think these parties can increase the
brand loyalty and increase the times of exposure.
 We also want to sponsor local match of fashion design when we have enough capitals. It is a good
way to advertise our brand and make a good relationship with potential talent designers.
PEOPLE
Our target segment of clothing market is the people around 25 40 years old and have a higher than

Justice And Revenge In The Literary Works Of Agatha Christie
Justice and Revenge
Living in today s society when justice has failed, because often seek revenge. (AG) Societal structure
and order create the chaos of vengeance because when it fails, they would have the stress to seek the
vengeance that they want. (SS) Individuals should not seek revenge when justice has failed because
revenge is chaos, hurtful, and troubling. This can be seen in the literary works of Agatha Christie and
A.B. Guthrie. Both authors explore the universal theme that when justice fails, revenge will follow.
The characters in the stories plan and execute their revenge after justice has failed.
Those who seek revenge do so because it can create chaos. (TS) In the short historical fiction, Bargain,
by A.B. Guthrie, a german immigrant, Mr. Baumer, has taken law in his own hands when he is bullied

(TS) For example, In Agatha Christie s murder mystery, And Then There Were None, 10 guests were
invited to an island and they were killed one by one and each death was from a childish rhyme, the 10
little soldiers. When Justice Wargrave sent the letter, he said that he killed those 10 people just because
he wanted to commit a mystery murder and he didn t feel guilty. For some years past I have been
aware of a change within myself, a lessening of control a desire to act instead of to judge. I have
wanted let me admit it frankly to commit a murder myself (287). This is important because his motive
was just to create a murder mystery. This could have been revenge on the 10 guests murders, but the
people thinking about the deaths were really hurtful and emotional to them. When each of them were
dying, people were scared and emotional to everyone. Some may say that individuals should seek
revenge when justice has failed. However, this doesn t consider because people s motive was for
justice so why if it fails, do it for yourself and change your motive and it could lead to bad

Jackson Jackson going through a journey just to try to buy his grandmother s regalia. However, by the
end of the story he obtains it. At the beginning of the story, Jackson Jackson is represented as
homeless man. During the course of the story, his character begins to change. Jackson s quest is to pay
for the regalia in the pawnkeeper s shop however there are obstacles that are in his way. Jackson
Jackson is being represented as an anti hero because he does not show the typical characteristics such
as having courage of a normal traditional hero. Jackson s journey as an anti hero starts when he sees

The story states I ll give you twenty four hours to come up with to come up with nine hundred and

you (Alexie 12). At the time Jackson Jackson agree to try to earn money in order to get it back.
Jackson starts out with twenty dollars in order to get it back. Earning money in order to get the regalia
back was the hardest thing for him to do. Making the money was the trial that Jackson Jackson faced.
Even though that he earned a few bucks from the pawnshop owner himself he still used it. Also when
he tries to earn the money is when he tried to sell newspaper only managing to sell five and spending
it eating fast food instead. Jackson knows that he should not to spend the money but he did it anyway.
The biggest moment that made Jackson Jackson an anti hero is that that he borrows money from other
people and then spends it for other people. He manages to give things he borrowed to other people.
Even though that he comes from a bad background he was gracious enough to share what he had to
other people. For example, when he used the money that he

Reflection Paper On How I Changed As A Speaker
I have changed as a speaker in various ways over this past semester. I have gotten more comfortable
with myself as a speaker. I learned instead of being scared and nervous to talk in front of my
classmates, to just put my self in a place where I feel comfortable. For example when I am speaking in
front of the class, I imagine myself standing in my living room just talking to my dad. Another thing
that helped me get through my speech is choosing a topic that I know a lot about, this helped my feel
more comfortable about what I was talking about. This helps build credibility. I realized that everyone
is going to have a strong opinion about certain topics but if you can provide valid information and
have good arguing point in a speech then it could really change peoples minds about a certain topic.
After I completed my first speech I really understood what it took to be a good speaker, especially
after getting feed back from my classmates. This helped improve confidence and all other aspects of
me speaking in front of a crowd. I felt as if the outlines helped me a lot. They gave me a basic idea of
what I need to do and say. They also helped me organize my thoughts and help me stay on track. The
quizzes also helped me understand the topics and why we needed to set up the outline the way we do.
It also helped me understand what was most important in the speech and what I should focus most on.
When you gave sample speeches this was my most helpful tool. You showed us exactly

  • 2. How Does Delillo Present The Fear Of Death In White Noise The fear of death is one of the most prominent themes in White Noise. Everything in the novel from Hitler to the toxic airborne event circles back to how human beings are subconsciously afraid of dying. DeLillo s novel displays how life attempts to push this fear away, almost saying out of sight, out of mind . Yet, as we see in the characters of Jack and Babette, the fear continues to rear its ugly head and fill them with terror. DeLillo shows this close relationship between life and death. He could be trying to show how death lingers dangerously in the background of our lives. The toxic event changed the way Jack Gladney feared death. Not only did it make his fear worse, but it made him absolutely terrified of it. During the event, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This could be based on the fact that no matter who you are or what you do, death is inevitable. I believe that Jack relates to a Hitler like persona because he relates to this idea of life credit . When Jack is talking to Murray, Murray mentions that to kill another person is to gain life credit. The more people you kill, the more credit you store up (DeLillo pg. 277). This is similar to Hitler, from my own knowledge, I already know that Hitler thought the more people he killed the more power he would gain and the more invincible he would feel. Jack seems to have the same mindset because he thinks killing a man will give him more time. He is almost trying to cheat death and outlive the chemical inside of him. I feel like Jack thinks that if he kills someone, he gains whatever years they had left. As any rational person would know, this is just simply impossible, but Jack seems to believe this illusion is his ticket to maximizing the time he has left. The common theme between these two passages is that death is an inescapable process. I found it very interesting that the toxic event happened before Jack shot Willie Mink. The toxic event only made it more clear to Jack that he is going to die because of his chemical exposure, however it also hastened his dying process. This is why I find it so strange that Jack tried to kill Mr. Mink. From my understanding, Jack was under the impression that killing someone would extend his life, however he knows that he ... • 3. My Antonia Passages Analysis In My Antonia, Willa Cather uses Nature as a metaphor for many things, allowing her to expand upon her major themes and ideas. Growing up, and the changes that one goes through during this development, is something that Cather focuses on with many of her characters, but especially with Jim. She often uses detailed descriptions of Nature to show some of the things that Jim is feeling. Several passages in the novel describe Nature with either a strongly negative or a strongly positive connotation. These are depictions of Jim s emotions as his outlook on life changes. Other passages are used to carry across the correlation between Nature and purity. Purity is usually assumed to be related to being unchanged by or free from the harshness of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Antonia is very close with Nature, and naturality, which is one of the reasons why Jim is so awed and inspired by her. The role of Nature in My Antonia is to illustrate some of the major motifs that Cather presents, including growing up and purity. Authors often use weather to indicate the mood of a scene. For instance, an author might make it rain on a day when there is much depression for the characters, or sunny on a day with happiness. Cather, however, is able to use Nature not just in terms of weather and how it can be used as foreshadowment, but also in terms of land and how it can express a character s perspective. My Antonia begins with Jim leaving everything he has ever known behind and traveling to live in Nebraska with his grandparents. His parents have just died, and he does not know what awaits him. This is the first of many changes in Jim s life during the span of My Antonia. And as with all of the changes, Cather does not directly explain how Jim is feeling, even in his thoughts. Instead, she chooses to use his actions and perspective on life to describe how certain changes have affected him. On his journey to his grandparents home, Jim is in a cart and cannot sleep. He decides to take a look ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

History Of Science And Conceptual Understanding History of science and conceptual understanding According to Richard K Moran, and Page K, in Teaching for Conceptual Understanding in Science , Studying history of science is important because it enable students understand the development of thought, and generalization would be empty without concrete examples. In addition, One important concern for shutting history of science out of the undergraduate science curriculum was an anxiety expressed about the history of science that the history of science is composed of hypocrisy and skepticism science scoundrels , therefore, it is condemned by the scientific community. It also indicates that although there were early scientists naive thinking and ideas, such early thinking contribute to direct our present thinking and make students conceptual changes. It takes long time for students to make change and build their personal knowledge to become accepted. Moreover, it mentions that one important misconception about the history of science is there are no mistakes and wrong turns science has taken; the development of science is only thought is cumulative, and continuous in science from one generation to another one. Such an error is attributed to distorted histories of science; especially those found in science textbooks, and contribute to widening the gap between historian and students. Furthermore, it indicates that one important criteria of choosing between competing and alternative theories is those, which show ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Love In Hamlet And Ophelia Love is different for each and every individual. It is so powerful that people cry, suffer pain, or even risk their lives to save it. But there are other kinds of love: elusive love, tortured love, or even the love that you feel for someone but cannot embrace it for fear of other, larger events. It is that kind of love that seems to be the most prevalent in William Shakespeare s Hamlet, especially when it comes to Hamlet s relationship with Ophelia, the daughter of King Claudius s advisor, the ever forgetful and meddling Polonius. The love that Hamlet claimed he had for Ophelia was not only fabricated, but unhealthy, which untimely led to her death. After a long meditation on the nature of being and death, Hamlet catches sight of Ophelia. As she attempts to return some of the remembrances that Hamlet gave when courting her, Hamlet caustically questions Ophelia s honesty. He denies ever having given Ophelia anything and continues to erratically claim that he loved her once before declaring that he never loved her at all. The problem here is that no one knows the exact intent of Hamlet as he claims to love Ophelia amidst a number of happenings that questions how genuine his love towards Ophelia. Not only does he doubt her honesty because he knew about her plan with Polonius and Claudius to eavesdrop on him, he is unsure of her purity and her love for him and he tells her, get thee to a nunnery rather than give birth to sinners ( ). Increasingly agitated, Hamlet condemns marriage itself, saying that no more marriages should be allowed, before exiting the room and leaving Ophelia in shambles. Looking deeper into the behavior that Hamlet demonstrates in this scene, there is completely no love that he shares with Ophelia. In a way, Hamlet seems convinced that Ophelia is the love of her life, but yet he has the behavior of insulting her and not giving her the priority that she needs. His character portrays a man who cannot be connected to his self and this leads him to a number of problems as regards the way he treats Ophelia. It is not just the feelings that Hamlet has towards Ophelia that describes his love for her but his actions say a lot on the feeling that is in the inside. Reaching to an extent that he can ... • 7. Renewable Energy For The Changing World Karina Vanous Smith Political Economy 13 January 2015 Renewable Energy for the Changing World Currently, there is a call for alternative energies to replace our harmful energy sources that are bringing the world closer and closer to global warming. As of right now, America s economy is mostly dependent on destructive fossil fuels for its energy supply. Our country is producing a quarter of the world s pollution. Usage of fossil fuels has increasingly contributed to the CO2 emissions, which is polluting our environment. It is destroying natural habitats and causing an increase in health problems. If our harmful methods continue, our planet will eventually become uninhabitable. Fossil fuels are considered a nonrenewable resource, which means we are required to find a new and clean renewable energy source. These new energy sources must be readily available for the world s energy demands. Our vision should focus on environmentally friendly and efficient energies such as wind and solar power. Becoming more dependent on wind and solar power would mean having an infinite amount of energy and create more job opportunities, which would help the world s economy as well. Americans use wind and solar energy because they are not only environmentally friendly, but are affordable and an abundant source of energy. The United States has some of the best wind resources in the world, with enough potential energy to produce nearly 10 times the country s existing power needs (Clean Line ... The majority of people needs to cross boundaries in several points of their life to reach their potential, but no one ever reaches their full potential, however, crossing boundaries is an effective step toward reaching the full potential if it s ever to be reached yet crossing boundaries is essential for achieving a goal or a dream. The full potential is when consummating the whole list of goals in life and this list is never accomplished because no one ever stops adding to their list, anyhow , if they stop, their life would be a plain, straight road with no ups and downs, no directions, no houses or buildings, no sessions, just a plain, long, straight road, and undoubtedly ... So when Li left his family and moved on to start his career in the Ballet Academy, he spent the first years in the school in remembrance of his old life and he didn t move forward because he was stuck between his past and present. His family was always there with him and he mentioned that in this line: I couldn t stop thinking of my family back home. Photos are the best way to translate a moment and keep it alive for ever. Li had all his pictures kept and they are shown in his autography, and this can be related to the Villawood Mums, they ve kept all their old photos and that s clearly shown in the film, when Maria and Zahoor were talking about their old lives. Also, as said in the article Understanding Families Applying Family System Theory to Early Childhood Practice that a family system theory has a primary concept in which is that the family includes interconnected members, and each member influences the other in predictable and occurring ways. (pg. 5). First, based on the article read boundaries relate to limits, togetherness, and separateness, what or who is in or out of the family (pg. 5, Walsh Giblin 1988). However, I thought that having boundaries is important in a family because through boundaries we know when we can step into certain areas or when can t we know. My experience in my family system theory as having boundaries was that was that we each had an individual room, individual spaces, and trust within our own decision. I also was able to give my own opinion but I needed to know which was the right timing and to never step over the adult conversation. In a family there is usually a peacemaker, a clown, a rescuer, and a victim, although there can be many other roles as well , (pg. 7) this was said in the article that I read. They were hailed as the ideal models for strong economic growth of developing countries because of their high savings and investment rates, autocratic political systems, export oriented business, restricted domestic markets, government capital allocation, and controlled financial systems. They were even stories about The East Asian Miracle because of the extraordinary growth rates they achieved and the speed with which they have transformed themselves from poor countries into industrial powerhouses. Thais real estate business boomed, owning property and selling or leasing it for development became one of the most popular businesses in their country. Rich Thai players entered into collusion with local and foreign banks, mostly Japanese banks, to loan more money just to keep on building. Because of overbuilding, they were no longer able to rent out most of their new office and condo space. Prices dropped due to oversupply, so they couldn t get nearly as much money on what they used to built those. When the bank loans became due, they couldn t pay. This also became a contributing factor in the problem faced by Thailand during the Asian currency crisis. They wern t able to weigh whether investments in buildings are worthwhile, they were reckless and the only thing they though was the funds they were able to get for building those infrastructures. Their foreign borrowing went to prestigious projects with no solid economic returns. Another reason behind the 1997 Asian financial crisis was the large current account deficits. Asian leaders agreed that large current account deficits could not be good, but they made the logical economic argument that if a current account deficit mostly reflects higher investment, it would eventually increase an economy s competitiveness and therefore its ability to repay the debt, and would certainly be more sustainable than a deficit driven by ... • 17. Freud s Theory Of Personality Freud gave counseling a unique and powerful way to look at the human mind by observing and taking note of the conscious and unconscious mind and how those thoughts could reflect human behavior. Freud also emphasized the importance of early life experiences and how they shape the human mind and behaviors. In my opinion, I believe that Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory of Personality would be the most practical approach for me to utilize in a counseling situation. His theory identifies many aspects of the conscious and unconscious while exploring different defense mechanisms people often attribute to reduce or cope with anxiety. Freud also stresses the psychosexual stages of development and how those experiences could affect a person s conscious, preconscious or subconscious being. According to Freud, there are three separate yet autonomous parts of the mind that are important to understanding a person. The three parts of the mind, as described by Freud are the conscious, preconscious and the subconscious mind. The conscious mind, or the Ego, is the conscious mind that is at the surface of a person s personality and could readily be accessible to to draw out what a person is thinking about. The conscious mind is also a persons personality which is automatic and constructed of the superego s balance of the animal like instincts of the ID. An example could be when a counselor would ask the client what his favorite color would be. The person s response to this type of question is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this purchase the United States of America paid fifteen million dollars to get all the land west of the Mississippi River and east of the Rocky Mountains. For one, it gave the U.S. complete control of the Mississippi, which in tern helped many farmers with transporting goods. Second, it more than doubled the size of the United States. Napoleon then offered the American ambassadors a deal of a lifetime the whole Louisiana lands for only fifteen million dollars. Now why would France want to sell all this land? For one, there was a civil war in the Island of Haiti. There the slaves have revolted and won independence from France. Napoleon tried hopelessly to get the Island of Haiti back under control, but it was to no avail. Without control of Haiti the lands of Louisiana were useless to France, and thus Napoleon decided to sell it to the Americans. Moreover, Napoleon was planning to conquer all of Europe, this meant war with Great Britain. This theory shows that having some control over our lives is preferable to no control at all. Based on the original theory of learned helplessness, one of the key factors in Seligman s theory were uncontrollability and repeated cruelty or neglect. Based on many experiments done by Seligman, controllability determines if one is suffering from learned helplessness. This often leads to perceived lack of control and may lead to helpless behaviour (Abramson, Seligman Teasdale, 1978). Animals exposed to unavoidable shock showed passivity, in which Seligman felt in line with the typical behaviour of depression. Other similar symptom were lack of appetite and weight loss (Rehm, 1990). However, one part of learned helplessness that did not occur in animals was the process of demonstrating learned helplessness through vicarious learning (Bandura, 1986). There were other differences in the human models of learned helplessness as compared to the animal models such as shocks due to ethical concerns. Therefore, researches used variables such as loud noises as the aversive event. Participants were given solvable or unsolvable tasks and were exposed to a loud noise. Participants in unsolvable tasks failed in attempting to escape the loud noise. Other research has also been able to induce learned helplessness in human participants with different types of ... We would rely on them for first aid but when they were gone all of us would not know how to handle such a situation. This always bothered me so I started learning a few ways to treat minor wounds. • 29. Analysis Of Dear White People The television series Dear White People by Justin Simien portrays stereotypical problems of racial identity in today s society, however, the creator imbeds the series with hidden messages that are not particularly intended. The show exemplifies how people of color try to deal with living in a society where they are not particularly welcome in a place of elite higher education. It follows a group of colored students as they navigate through life in college attending a primarily white Ivy League university. In the series, the creator implements the ideas of two sided racism, political correctness, and misplaced power. Although this show suggests it is about white people and their faults, Simien portrays two sided racism in the series although it is not addressed head on. The show s protagonist, Sam White who is also a woman, is characterized as the angry black chic on campus because she believes all white people have white privilege. She speaks her mind through her radio show Dear White People where she bashes white people and their beliefs. Throughout the series, Sam speaks against white people as oppressors, however, most people don t recognize that this is also a form of racism. For example, in season one episode one, Sam is caught in a scandalous relationship with a white man. Those who look up to her as a leader to the black community are disgusted with her. As the episode progresses Sam tried to integrate her white boyfriend, Gabe, into her group but he is not welcomed. This implies that one should not mix with the other side or everything you stand for is void. Although the show doesn t blatantly state it Sam s group of colored friends are oppressing white people. Oppressing those who oppress others does not make one right. The colored characters in this series blame all white people for their problems and portray white people as always in the wrong. The show is focused on how white people oppress others and further racism, however, what one doesn t recognize is that when the group being oppressed upon retaliates with the exclusion of their oppressors it doesn t make them any better. This message is not obvious but still heavily embedded throughout the series. In Dear White People , political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My eighth grade year relates to this song because I endured many ups and downs, and Bohemian Rhapsody s change of mood, defiant lyrics and overall confusion about the song shows the theme of my past year. My eighth grade year has been turbulent, with balancing school, friends, drama and sports. At times, I felt insignificant and under appreciated, because I had worked so hard at something only to fall short. But at other times, I was on cloud nine; my grades were high, my friends were happy and my family was proud of me. I went through a lot of changes this year, and it was almost like a roller coaster. It is where a dominant force exerts its influence in society and exert their own power over other groups. Hegemony is seen with the cultural dominance of male over female. Because of this dominance men have assumed the right to determine what is masculine and what is not. With hegemony, here will be always an opposing force that plans a strategy in order to combat and defeat their adversary. Homosexuality is often depicted as inferiority. Heterosexual men see homosexual men as adversary to be defeated. Men has defined their masculinity by very specific set of behavior, habits and activities acting strong, being involved in sports and becoming engineer or doctors. Any men who do not behave according to these characteristics is viewed as effeminate . A young man like the actor in the movie who does not engage in vigorous sports but is interested in theater and poetry and shows sensitivity is perceived as being a Sister Boy a code word for as being Gay . This is a hint that a lack of what society perceives as masculinity is linked to homosexuality. Homosexuals are attracted to people of their gender. At about the age of 5, I saw her face on the television screen and by about the age of 12 years old, I was researching all I could about her. The more I learned about her, the more my love grew for her and the more I knew she would understand me if she were here today. Marilyn Monroe was an iconic celebrity but also very relatable to the average woman who deals things such as tough emotional issues, harsh body image problems and having a hard time trusting people or building relationships. Everyone has issues that we deal with; we re only human, right? The emotional issues we deal with daily can be anger, sadness, depression, etc. Marilyn dealt with these emotions as much as anyone else, but there was a time she had said, I am not a victim of emotional conflicts. I am human . She understood that as a human being, we all have emotional problems, but it s how one deals with their emotions that matters. These emotional issues can stem from many different situations or moments in our life. Dealing with a bully in school, an abusive parent or whatever it may be, can cause these issues. • 38. The Effects Of Alcohol Abuse On The Body Alcohol abuse can also cause short term effects to the body. Although there are many different short term effects, the most common happens to be a hangover which is a group of symptoms experienced by a person after a heavy consumption of alcohol (Alcoholic 1). Symptoms of a hangover often consist of nausea, fatigue, thirst, headache, diarrhea, and sensitivity to light and noise. The severity of a hangover depends on several factors; these factors include the amount of alcohol consumed, the level of hydration in the body at the time of alcohol consumption, and disease. Although hangovers are the most common short term effect, blackouts are also a short term result of alcohol abuse. Consuming large amounts of alcohol can lead to temporary amnesia where the person is unable to recall events that occurred after he or she began drinking. Unfortunately, blackouts can lead to serious repercussions, especially if the person is engaged in sexual activity during that time. Blackouts are much more common among social drinkers than previously assumed and should be viewed as a potential consequence of acute intoxication regardless of age (National 1). Drinkers who experience blackouts typically drink too much and too quickly, which causes their blood alcohol levels to rise very rapidly. Typically, college students are at risk for experiencing a blackout, as an alarming number of college students engage in binge drinking. Also, I smiled and thought to myself, I can t wait to tell my mom what he just said! Now I can support my love for gym class and dreadful attitude toward other courses. • 40. Persuasive Speech On Apprenticeships Pros And Cons Hello from western North Dakota. I hope this un seasonably warm fall has found everyone in good spirits, and that we don t wind up paying for it down the road. I haven t seen any frost teeth out there yet, so I consider that a good sign! I hope everyone has been paying attention to the recent boost in emphasis on education in North Dakota, because in it may exist the ability to help foster interest in our apprenticeships, and ultimately an increased interest in hiring our employers. Both of those, certainly are big positives. Fueled by a large, bipartisan Congressional effort, the US Department of Labor awarded a $200,000 apprenticeship grant to North Dakota Job Service in early June. Following that award over the summer, the North Dakota Department of Commerce hosted a series of apprenticeship accelerator meetings around the state, in an effort to increase the amount of registered apprenticeships. In cooperation with the Dept. of Labor, representatives of the ND Department of Commerce and ND Job Service distributed specific instructions and maintain an open link on their websites, in an effort to help private employers develop their own apprenticeship programs. While it would certainly be a good thing if the general public became aware, and hopefully accepting, of the benefits that apprenticeships can provide, this recent fanfare may only serve to obscure the differences between registered and joint programs. One of the primary functions of bronchi is to allow air to pass through it. As the trachea splits into two parts, the inhaled air enters the bronchi. From here, it passes through its further divisions, which are known as bronchioles. This then divides to form alveolar ducts which eventually end into alveolar air sacs or alveoli. Thus, these tubes basically act as a passage for air to pass. Diaphragm Breathing begins with a curved muscle underneath of the lungs called the diaphragm. When you inhale the diaphragm decreases in size. When it decreases in size it evens out and pulls downward. When you breathe out, the diaphragm expands reducing the amount of space for the lungs and forcing air out. The diaphragm is the main muscle used in breathing. I learned instead of being scared and nervous to talk in front of my classmates, to just put my self in a place where I feel comfortable. For example when I am speaking in front of the class, I imagine myself standing in my living room just talking to my dad. Another thing that helped me get through my speech is choosing a topic that I know a lot about, this helped my feel more comfortable about what I was talking about. This helps build credibility. I realized that everyone is going to have a strong opinion about certain topics but if you can provide valid information and have good arguing point in a speech then it could really change peoples minds about a certain topic.
