Genesis the book of the beginning of man, according to some religions. In this book, the age old
story of Adam and Eve is recorded. The book tells of the first two humans on earth performing the
original sin by eating an apple from the Tree of Knowledge in the sacred Garden of Eden. While
this story may seem clear cut, humans always have different perspectives on the messages to take
away from stories. Sometimes, these differing views are expressed in the form of art. The paintings
Adam and Eve by Michelangelo and Adam and Eve by Cranach both portray the biblical story of
the first humans betrayal of God. As shown by the composition of the paintings, as well as the
actions of the figures, Cranach s couple seem to be unintentionally sinning, while Michelangelo s
Adam and Eve appear to be purposeful in their actions. Cranach s placement of the figures draws
the observer s eye to the apple instead of the serpent, implying that there are subtle manipulations
taking place. On the other hand, Michelangelo s painting takes the viewer s eye to Eve directly

What Is Voodoo?
I m sure everyone has their own perception of voodoo inside their head. Most people think
includes black magic, evil spirits, and causing harm to others. However, voodoo is actually a
complex tradition of faiths and beliefs that combine into an overall world full of religion and magic.

New Orleans voodoo rituals differ from those of Haitian voodoo because of their emphasis on
voodoo queens, gris gris, superstitions and spells. Voodoo queens were central figures to voodoo
in the United States. They looked over ceremonial meetings and ritual dance while also obtaining
income by making charms, amulets and magical powders that were guaranteed to have special
healing powers. The most legendary voodoo queen was Marie Laveau because of her special
powers and ability to do exorcisms. She quickly overthrew the other voodoo queens of New
Orleans. Gris Gris is a voodoo amulet which is believed to protect whomever wears it from evil
and will provide them with good luck. New Orleans voodoo is also known for their superstitions,
however, they aren t central to the actual faith. These superstitions are just resulted from ancient
Louisana voodoo tradition and have influenced the faith.
Why is Voodoo shown in a Negative Light?
I m sure before I talked about voodoo, you expected something totally different. I, myself,
thought voodoo was actually all about black magic and evil spirits. However, voodoo is not
actually negative. When the early Haitian slaves came over to different parts of the world, they
also brought over their faith. However, because they were black and their religion was not

Another fact is that no vision can be accomplished without sacrifice. Together with personal
discipline is sacrifice, which is another word that people interpret as meaning that they have to give
up some things for one thing that they enjoy doing. It generally means sacrificing something of a
low nature to get a better thing or a thing of a higher nature.
Sacrifice is really all about making daily choices to stay on the narrow road to success. Instead of
buying a video game to exercise your thumbs, buying instructional books and manuals to improve
knowledge and increase prospects is a sacrifice. Instead of doing what you want to do, doing what
is necessary to become the best is a sacrifice. I wanted to become a good athlete in my secondary
school inter house sport day, so I set a daily routine and stuck with it, even when I did not feel
like it. I would go to a field in the neighborhood, run from one end to the other, day in and day
out. In the school inter house sport day that year, I won two gold medals, 100m race and 200m
race. This is sacrifice. Without the need, desire and determination to improve, people lack the
means to develop and therefore will not make any sacrifices.
