The Physician-Patient Relationship
The Physician Patient Relationship
Tahira Duncan
Drexel University
Abstract
Sexual contact that occurs concurrent with the patient physician relationship is considered to be sexual
misconduct. The Hippocratic Oath prohibits such relationships. The Oath is deeply rooted in first do
no harm. By violating beyond the boundaries in a patient physician relationship it cause harm to the
patient.
Boundaries: The limits of appropriate behavior by a professional toward his/her client.
Transference: Of which a patient is usually unaware and/lacking insight into its significance.
Undue Influence: A judicially created defense to transactions that have been imposed upon weak and
vulnerable persons that allows the transactions to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patients often don t know they have been violated usually until after interactions between patient and
physician either fail or don t work out in favor of the patient.
Sexual Misconduct Scenario:
I ve been involved with my physician for a couple of months now. There are a lot of factors which
make the relationship wrong mostly on his side: a huge age gap, his marriage amp; family, the fact
that he s a doctor. He also knows my father, who is a fellow doctor, and the relationship started right
when I practically committed suicide. It might be a stupid question, but did he take advantage? I am
fully in my right mind and did not feel abused in any way, but I suppose psychology would show that
there must be some part of me that was taken advantage of. We started the relationship and after a few
days, it dwindled. Now I feel abandoned and used.
The fact that the patient noted that she was fully in her right mind brings into play informed consent.
Can a patient truly give consent to a sexual relationship with their physician? Considering undue
influence a patient can t soundly give consent to having sexual intercourse with a doctor. They lack the
knowledge due to transference. Next, non maleficence and beneficence, the Hippocratic Oath teaches,
do no harm. There is a great risk to do potential harm to a patient especially by entering into a sexual
relationship with them. Much of

The Band Of The Beatles
Even over 40 years after their breakup, it is almost impossible not to know who The Beatles are. This
band of the mid twentieth century set a high bar for all other musical groups at the time they were
active and even still today. Causing swarms of fans of all ages to scream and faint everywhere they
went, they were the world s most popular musicians. Although their name is well known, not enough
people know how the band that inspired millions came to be. The story of how two kids playing music
became four men traveling the world and performing for thousands of adoring fans at a time gives
dreamers hope. Today s generation cannot let tomorrow s generation forget that dreams do come true
if they try hard to make them happen and never give up, just as The Beatles never did. As unbelievable
as it might be, there are some people who think that this shockingly powerful band were not as famous
as they were made out to be. Even with nearly every song being a chart topper, these people believe
that there are bands that have accomplished more than The Beatles. It is true that some have come
close, but it is easy to see that The Beatles were absolutely the most successful band of all time. The
Beatles easily influenced the way people dressed, listened to music, and views of the world (Brundrett
para. 4). The band s first song to be released in the United States by Capitol Records, I Want to Hold
Your Hand, hit the public in January 1964 and immediately shot up the charts (Brundrett

Grant s Defense Strategies In The Battle Of Cold Harbor
In the battle of Cold Harbor, Grant planned to attack General Robert E. Lee s army to remove him
from the Confederate capital and remove him from the confederate capital. Grant thought that he
could overpower General Lee if he could draw him out of his protective barriers and into the open
space. Grant had tried to do so before, but he had failed. Because he used a strategy of continuously
calling troops to battle, he eventually had to wait until more troops arrived. Due to General Grant s
attack ideas, General Lee s defense strategies, and Strategies of placing and protecting troops, The
Battle of Cold Harbor was won by the confederacy. The battle strategies used in the north were
important to how this battle played out. When grant was planning ... Show more content on

The defense strategies of the confederacy led to overpower the union with even less troops. The battle
of Cold Harbor ended when Lee won the battle from strong defense strategies against the union, on
June 12, 1864. Since this battle was so close to a confederate military base, the confederate military
had more protection and more supplies. In the union, 12,737 men died and in the confederate, 4,595
men died in 12 days during the battle of Cold Harbor. Grant had sent in many more troops than the
confederate did, so there were fewer men in the confederate who died. Grant ended up pulling out of
Cold Harbor once he realized he would not win. General Lee had won the battle of Cold Harbor for

Reflection Paper On TED Talk
TED Talk Summative Reflection The beginning of a presentation is what must grab the audience s
attention and tell them what s about to happen. I think I succeeded in informing my audience, but
definitely could have improved the interest factor of my video. My introduction is a simple title
animation going into my presentation, and my introduction is a very basic overview of what my
presentation will be covering. Looking back on the example given and at other students videos, I
realize some music and a hook could have been very helpful. A hook is especially important because it
gets the audience excited for what s coming, and I notice now that my opening lines are pretty tame.
Of course, I find it interesting, but my audience has not seen the video, so they ... Show more content

So, I used some funny images and some informative ones, and I m not sure if that was the best choice.
Perhaps higher quality images that backed up my points, even if there were fewer of them, would have
been the better choice. I think my visual aids complimented my audio component, but they could have
been more in depth representations of my talking points as a whole. Finally, it comes to my oral
presentation skills. I would say I have average ability to communicate orally, which I hoped to
improve by splitting up my speech into different sections. I recorded each of these separately,
sometimes recording seven or eight takes, for the sake of cutting out most stumbles and producing the
best quality video I could. However, I think I still could have improved. There a few mistakes which I
left in, and could have redone if I d had better time management skills. I was unsure about how
expressive to be, as my video was half me talking and half narration. I tried to be reserved and easy to
understand, but I think going bigger and being more animated would have helped keep my video
interesting and fun to watch. Re watching myself speak made me realize that I

To what extent was universal white manhood suffrage achieved?
Although there were limited property requirements, there was still belief that a property requirement
was a test of character that an initiative man should be able to meet.
Requirements for property in order to vote were eliminated, and this success was celebrated by the
Jacksonians. The majority of laws and attitudes had altered by 1820, as the idea of universal white
male suffrage was widely known and welcomed.
Which citizens were considered eligible for office holding?
Held belief that rule should be by the educated, but he proposed education for all to in order to prepare
the poorer individuals for public office. He highly supported the elite to hold office, and women were
ineligible for the occupation, as Jefferson questioned their level of intelligence.
Held belief that all men were qualified to hold office, and that political positions should be rotated.

How were candidates for president chosen?
Presidential candidates were chosen by political meetings, called caucuses, of political leaders. These

Advantages Of Rolling Bags For Nursing School
Best rolling bag for nursing students What are the best rolling bags for nursing students? To be honest,
nursing books are heavy and numerous. Although it might not be necessary to carry all books along to
school, there will surely be times when you must tote several of them at once. Moreover, while on
campus, you will probably do a lot of walking and it will not be easy toting heavy books. Research
shows, carrying heavy books in small back packs on a constant basis can lead to long term back ache.
I doubt if anyone will want to begin a nursing career with prolong back pain issues. This unnecessary
pain can simply be avoided by using the proper tote bag. Although there are a lot of choices in tote
bags for nursing student, not all bags are equal. Thus, when purchasing a rolling bag for nursing
school, functionality should be the first thing to consider. You should ask yourself the following
questions; will the bag hold a reasonable number of books? is there enough space for other stuffs such
as laptops, tablets and nursing materials? You really need to consider these questions because most
rolling bags available in the market do not have enough space to hold laptops and tablets. In addition,
you must check if there are side pockets and areas of storage for extras such as keys, smartphones and
water bottles. Another important quality to watch out for is durability. Some more things to think
about. Is the bag made of high quality material that will serve you throughout

I. Introduction
Klebsiella pneumoniae is a gram negative bacillus enterobacterium coliform. Klebsiella pneumoniae
is a bacterium which is normally found in the human body, but several pathogenic strains cause
infections in the human body. It is a nosocomial bacterium which is resistant to many common
antibiotics. The antibiotic resistant strains are most common and cause the most concern. These strains
are easily spread throughout extended stay hospital patients and to those in community settings with
underlying diseases. Klebsiella pneumoniae is the fourth most common cause of pneumonia in ICU
patients. Research is currently focused on creating new antibiotics to which Klebsiella pneumoniae is
susceptible. Klebsiella pneumoniae is found in several different countries around the world.
II. Structure and Physiology
The morphology of Klebsiella pneumoniae is a bacillus shaped bacterium, which means it looks like a
rod. This bacterium is also a non motile and Gram negative. This means that wherever the bacterium
was inoculated into an agar, it only grew in that spot and did not grow outwards. Being gram negative
means that the bacterium has a thin layer of peptidoglycan and stains red during the Gram staining
process. Klebsiella pneumoniae is an encapsulated bacterium, where the capsule

The History of the Swastika
The History of the Swastika
Why does most of the world look down upon the Swastika? Why do people think of Germany, World
War Two, and the Holocaust when somebody mentions or views an image of the Swastika? The
Swastika was used by Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany during World War Two and the Holocaust.
During this historic time, it became a symbol of hate, anti semitism, violence, death, and murder
(History) . However the symbol did not originate there. It was ancient symbol used over 3,000 years
ago. Many religions, including Buddhists and Hindus, still use the Swastika today.
The Swastika originated over 3,000 years ago as symbol of good luck. (Symbology) It was very
common from about 1,000 B.C. and was used in many cultures around the world, including China,
Japan, India, and Southern Europe. By the middle ages it was well known and used every day by these
cultures. Native Americans were another important culture to use the Swastika. It represented different
meanings to various Native American tribes. It was a symbol the ancient Mississippian culture used to
communicate their history, thoughts, ideas, and dreams. (Swastikas) These people were better known
as the Mound Builders. They associated great mystical value to the Swastika and their sacred rites and
rituals. These were special ceremonies. The Swastika to them helped recognize a whirling or turning
motion. They saw the Swastika as a symbol of the sun, the four directions, and the four seasons. The

Emily Dickinson Extended Metaphors
For most, specifically female poets, Emily Dickinson is a legend. Dickinson emerged out of an era in
the 1800 s when women were not acknowledged for their diligence and were not given the
opportunities to be educated as males were given. Dickinson wrote a total of one thousand seven
hundred and seventy five poems including She Sweeps with many colored Brooms , which was
written between 1858 and 1861. Dickinson is well known for the themes of her literary works to
involve death, love, religion, nature, or eternity. The poem She Sweeps with many colored Brooms
incorporates the use of a theme involving nature since in her poem a common housewife is being
compared to a parting sunset. Through the use of an extended metaphor and specific ... Show more

long e sound. The use of a long e sound at this point in the poem creates the rhythm of a broom

going back and forth. She sweeps with many colored brooms, and leaves the shreds behind (1). She
uses the short i sound in the third stanza when she uses the word still twice and till only once. The
vowel sound of these words carries a quick pace just as a sunset does. The use of the short i sound

Essay on Visual Acuity as a Function of Retinal Eccentricity
Visual Acuity Measured as a Function of Retinal Eccentricity
Visual acuity is a measure of an observer s ability to see fine spatial detail (Cavonius amp;
Schumacher, 1966). There are a number of factors that affect visual acuity, such as illumination and
contrast, and various ways to measure it (Kalloniatis amp; Luu, 2005). One way to measure visual
acuity is through target detection which requires the perception of the orientation of a stimulus such as
a Landolt C or a Snellen E (Kalloniatis amp; Luu, 2005). The participant in the current experiment
was referred to have their acuity tested. Target detection of a stimulus was used to measure the
participant s visual acuity as a function of retinal eccentricity of the target. ... Show more content on

The height and width of this optotype is designed to be five times the thickness of the stroke width and
gap width, therefore the size of each critical detail is 1/5th of the overall height (Kalloniatis amp; Luu,
2005). Four stimulus sizes were used in the experiment as visual acuity was to be tested at four
eccentricities (0Ëš, 20Ëš, 40Ëš and 60Ëš). These four stimulus sizes were calculated using the approximate
minimum angle of resolution (MAR) of each eccentricity obtained from Millodot et al. s (1975)
normal data. This value was then used to find the gap size and hence the stimulus size using a distance
of 600cm. The reason for using the distance value of 600cm was because it is close to the threshold
and therefore would be the starting point of stimulus presentation for each of the eccentricities. The
formula used was: gap size = 600*tan(MAR˚) ˃˃ size = 5 (600*tan(MAR˚))
The stimulus sizes (and critical feature sizes) calculated and used for the eccentricities 0Ëš, 20Ëš, 40Ëš and
60Ëš were 0.9cm (0.18cm), 2.2cm (0.44cm), 6.13cm (1.23cm) and 17.5cm (3.5cm) respectively.
Procedure
As already stated, it was decided by the experimenter to test visual acuity at the following
eccentricities: 0Ëš, 20Ëš, 40Ëš and 60Ëš. Measuring the MAR at each of these eccentricities would give a
good indication of where the participant s visual acuity measure lies in comparison to normal data.

Body Modifications Are An Example Of External Cues
Impression formation begins immediately upon meeting someone or noticing him or her for the first.
People make a wide range of psychological judgments every single day and every time they see some
one, typically regarding a person s traits, moods, personality, and psychological states. People
typically base these judgments off of stereotypes, scripts, and other person relevant information,
which generally leads to the judgments being somewhat inaccurate. Despite this, people continue to
intentionally and unintentionally use external cues to establish first impressions and opinions within
the first few seconds of seeing someone for the first time, and then make perceptions about his or her
potential personality and/or lifestyle.

The present study, conducted by Viren Swami et al. (2012), investigated how facial piercings could or
could not affect ratings of physical attractiveness and intelligence. Previous research regarding this
subject has had several limitations such as small samples and limited age of participants, specifically
undergraduate students. The goal of the investigators in this study was to build on previous
experiments and overcome previous limitations by recruiting a large, general population sample as the
participants for this experiment. Researchers recruited 440 participants for this study, 230 women and
210 men, from a southern German speaking area of Europe. All of the participants in the study were
Caucasian and a majority of the participants were in a relationship, Christian, and had completed
secondary education. It is also important to note that 19.8% of the sample had a body piercing other
than the ear lobe. Ultimately, the researchers wanted to explore how facial piercings and observer
personality affected perceptions of physical attractiveness and intelligence
To discover the traits of the participants, the participants were given personality tests to discover their
scores for the Big Five personality traits, otherwise known as openness, conscientiousness,
extraversion, agreeableness, and emotional stability. They were then asked the

Us Foreign Policy 1865-1914, Expansionist or Isolationist...
Was the foreign policy of the United States primarily isolationist or expansionist through 1865 1914?
At the turn of the century, and after gaining our independence, the United States land mass more than
doubled through the use of purchasing, annexing, and war. However, the foreign policy of our
government took a predominately isolationist stand. This was a national policy of abstaining from
political or economic relations with other countries. General Washington shaped these values by
upholding and encouraging the use of these principles by warning to avoid alliances in his farewell
speech. The reasoning behind these actions was that the Republic was a new nation. We did not have

Although the United States didn t have the authority or firepower to back this up, it resulted in almost
four decades of compulsory US involvement in any foreign affair. After the Civil War, Isolationistic
practices grew stronger as the government had to find a way to re unite the torn nation. President
Grover Cleveland promised to avoid committing the nation to form any alliances with other countries
while also opposed to the acquisition of new land. The climate of post Civil War US prevented us
from deep involvement in foreign affairs. Our navy was also weakened by the war. Our natural
resources were scarce and our diplomatic relations with other countries had been neglected. With the
attention of our government focused solely on our nation, we proceeded to develop our interior. One
of the biggest reasons for growth in US land mass was the public idea of Manifest Destiny. Americans
believed that it was the destiny of the United States to populate a huge, vast continent.
In the 1890 s, the Isolationist movement took a back seat and American foreign policy followed heavy
Expansionism. After the total expansion into the west, Americans perceived notion of Manifest
Destiny changed. They believed that since they were superior to other nations, their policy needed to
change from just territorial acquisition within its borders, to outside. The United States had to

A Doll s House
A Doll s House, by Henrik Ibsen, is a well written play portraying women s struggle for independence
and security in the nineteenth century. The drama revolves around Nora, a traditional housewife, who

borrow money and save her ill husband s life. Krogstad, the antagonist, discovers her deceit and

 The primary key cannot have repeating values which means the attribute may not have more than

 Entities with compound primary keys cannot be split into multiple entities with simpler primary
keys. This is called the Smallest Key Rule.
As we know that a foreign key is an attribute that completes a relationship by identifying the parent
entity. Let me explain how to identify the foreign keys that every dependent and subtype entity in the
model must have a foreign key for each relationship in which it participates. Foreign keys are formed
in dependent and subtype entities by migrating the entire primary key from the parent entity. If the
primary key is composite, it may not be split.
Foreign key attributes are not considered to be owned by the entities to which they migrate, because
they are reflections of attributes in the parent entities. Thus, each attribute in an entity is either owned
by that entity or belongs to a foreign key in that entity.
If the primary key of a child entity contains all the attributes in a foreign key, the child entity is said to
be identifier dependent on the parent entity, and the relationship is called an identifying relationship. If
any attributes in a foreign key do not belong to the child s primary key,

Over a period of 4 years, 10 patients (6 men and 4 women) with abdominal complications of VP shunt
catheter were managed. Their ages at operation were ranged from 10 months to 17 years (table 1). All
patients were investigated, diagnosed and managed laporoscopically. The median operative time of the
laparoscopic procedure varied according to the diagnosis. It was 120 minutes in abdominal
pseudocysts, 45 minutes in recurrent congenital inguinal hernias, 100 minutes in adhesive intestinal
obstruction and 35 minutes in subcutaneous cyst. All patients were completed laparascopically except
one patient with large amalgamated abdominal pseudocyst; it was converted to laparotomy with
complete excision of the cyst and removal of the catheter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our series reinforces the feasibility and safety of laparoscopic management for distal catheter
complications. The advantages of the laparoscopic approach include a shorter hospital stay because of
less postoperative pain. The catheter is positioned under direct vision with less bowel manipulation,
thus reducing the risk of bowel injury and the development of adhesions(3). Laparoscopy allows us to
replace the shunts in the abdominal cavity under direct visual guidance and cut them to appropriate
size if necessary.
In addition, laparoscopy is a diagnostic tool that can be used to exclude any other intra abdominal
process possibly causing abdominal pain. Laparoscopy can be repeated several times in case of further
complications because it is less invasive. This is not the case with laparotomy, which is more
traumatic (3).
The potential problem that has been raised is retrograde leakage of carbon dioxide into the ventricle.
This was not recognized in our series and has not been reported previously. A recent in vitro study
found that none of the valves tested showed any signs of leak associated with increased gaseous back
pressure below a pressure of 80 mm

The War With Great Britain For Their Independence
The year is 1775 and the American Colonies are at war with Great Britain for their Independence. The
Continental Congress would soon sign an article into law, which would authorize the construction of
the Navy of the United Colonies of North America. Article 16 of this bill stated that A convenient
place shall be set apart for sick or hurt men, to be removed with their hammocks and bedding when
the surgeon shall advise the same to be necessary: and some of the crew shall be appointed to attend to
and serve them and to keep the place clean. The cooper shall make buckets with covers and cradles if
necessary for their use. Little did they know that this would be the inception of the Hospital
Corpsman. A military organization that would soon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The description stated: The surgeon shall be allowed a faithful attendant to issue, under his direction,
all supplies and provisions and hospital stores, and to attend the preparation of nourishment for the
sick. The surgeon s mates shall be particularly careful in directing the loblolly boy to keep the cockpit
clean, and every article therein belonging to the Medical Department. The surgeon shall prescribe for
casual cases on the gun deck every morning at 9 o clock, due notice having been previously given by
his loblolly boy by ringing of a bell, (History of Hospital). The name and responsibilities of the rate
would change several times through the 18th century, with titles like apothecary, nurse, and bay man
the person responsible for taking care of the sick and injured in the sick bay. With the outbreak of the
civil war in 1861, naval vessels were ordered to have at least 2 nurses per every 200 men and we also
built the first ship just to take care of the sick and injured, the USS Red Rover. The medical crew of
the USS Red Rover consisted of 30 surgeons, 30 nurses, and 4 nuns. This ship has also been
immortalized at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes as the sick hall serving all new navy recruits
(History of Hospital). June 17th, 1897 the Hospital Corps as we know it was born, after fear of a
Spanish American War, Congress spurred into action passing a bill which was signed by President
William McKinley. From this date forward any enlisted

Essay On Afro-Black Slavery
The South was in desperate need of workers in the time before the mid seventeenth century; however
their help arrived in the mid seventeenth century in the form of black workers. There once was an idea
that the Afro Black race was the only eligible people that should populate the system of slavery in
America. Afro Black slavery in the United States of America has been argued in two ways by
historians and researchers. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the two points that one side asking if
slavery was the result of white racism and the other side asking if white racism was a result of slavery.
The second point was rather or not white racism was a result of slavery. In the year of 1950, an
influential article was published by Oscar and Mary Handlin. Their article compared slavery to the
other ways of bondage, by discussing that what separated slavery from other ideals and ways of
service was that it was only limited to the African people, it was a permanent ordeal, and that it was
inherited from one generation to another. The Handlins believe that the backbone of slavery was
orchestrated by colonial governors to increase the able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He argues for the first point. Jordan says in his book White Over Black (1968) as well as other works
that Europeans had viewed people of color as inferior people for a very long time way before their
current time in history. He believed that those thoughts and attitudes travelled with the white
Europeans to the New World. Therefore according to this statement it could be said that white racism
molded the relationship and treatment of the Africans since the origins of their arrival in America.
Jordan goes on to conclude that the Whites would have oppressed the Blacks in the New World
regardless if there was an apparent economic incentive or

Sonnet 43 Elizabeth Barrett Browning Essay
The strong theme of love and commitment runs through the three poems we have been studying in
class. Sonnet 43 by Elizabeth Barrett Browning,
Sonnet 43 is a love poem, beautifully written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning in 1845 and is one of a
series of 44 sonnets, which Barrett Browning wrote in secret about the instance love she felt for her
husband to be Robert Browning a poet himself. She called the series Sonnets From the Portuguese.
The poem opens with a rhetorical question asking how she shows commitment to her husband not
needing a response, How do I love thee? The poem is written in the form of a sonnet, a 14 line poem,
and in iambic Pentameter, which means every line, is made up of ten syllables, which alternate
stressed and unstressed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The simile in the second stanza that she is like a glove , suggests how easily she was cast aside. It also
emphasises how little power she has. This is contrasted with how the speaker might have been a dove
a traditional symbol of innocence. This image is picked up later in the poem with idea of Kate s
stronger wings , which means she is able to fly higher that is to marry the lord of estate.
Yet there is some undermining of Kate s freedom in the fourth stanza that suggests the lord bound her
with his ring , as if he has captured her. This is emphasised by the line You sit in gold and sing . She
seems to be like another possession, this time a living one, but still captured in some way.
The final image of the poem takes the traditional metaphor of a child being a gift . Unlike the
possessions that bought Kate, this is something she cannot have. The contradiction in the speaker s
assertion that her son is both her shame and her pride serves to underline the tensions in the poem.
There is strong use of assonance in parts of the poem, particularly of o sounds, as in the words woe
and moan and howl . These seem to emphasise the speaker s sense of sorrow. Towards the end of the
poem the narrator tells her son to cling closer, closer yet , and the alliteration emphasises both the love
she has for him, and the potential fear that he may be taken

What Is Good Education Essay
What is a Good Education?
Education literally means the things a person learns by being taught.
So, the definition of a good education would be the things a person learns by being taught well. But
what exactly does that mean? No one has ever told you that, right. To me a good education is basically
achieved when a person has a general to specific knowledge of the things that have happened in the
world, things that could happen in the future of the world, how to communicate with others, and how
to live safely in the world today.
In order to live in this day and age, a person needs to know what has happened to people or places
before their time. This is basically learned in a history class. If the person is well educated in history,

If people have a general understanding of these and other important literary works, they will not feel
uncomfortable if they end up in a discussion about English.
They should also know a little about the famous authors of the past such as
William Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, Edgar Allen Poe, and Charles
Dickens. To know the names of some famous authors and what they are famous for should be enough
for a person to be able to function in society.
However, knowing a little bit of detail about authors in history would be of great help.
People should also know a little about what could happen in the future. They should know a little
about the ways the government could change, space exploration breakthroughs, who is forming a
peace treaty, as well as if a war could break out. This information is very general and
changing constantly, however, it is very important to know. If a person did not know for instance that
one country has problems with another, a war could break out and they would have no idea why. This
could put a person in an awkward position in society. People do not realize that this kind of
information is important until they are out in the real world. It does not seem so important when you
are in high school, but when you graduate and go out to pursue a career, it becomes important. Not
necessarily because you have to know this to do your job efficiently, but because you need to know
what to say if your boss

Expiration Dates
The concept of event related sterility is one that required teamwork and cooperation in order to
convert existing policies into this new one. The idea of not using expiration dates was hard for some
but, when presented with the information and cost effectiveness it was difficult not to take a closer
look at how this new procedure could and would benefit health care facilities. Armed with new
policies and more training, health care workers were ready for the challenge of implementing this new
idea.
Introduction The sterilization process has been in use for a very long time. The use of expiration dates
gave, and still gives, a period in which items are sterile and may be put to use during a procedure. This
system works, but is costly and labor intensive. Although this process works, there is another way of
maintaining the sterility of items. Louis Pasteur proved it. Louis Pasteur sterilized flasks in 1863,
more than 130 years ago. These flasks, which are stored ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approval had to be gained by showing the facility that it was going to benefit everyone involved and
that it was in compliance with state and local laws as well as with accrediting organizations. Some
examples of what had to be done are defining policy goals, development of a cost benefit analysis, a
rotation policy had to be in place, and new training programs had to be established. These, along with
a labeling policy and testing for quality assurance, helped to maintain the process.
Benefits
Event related sterility is cost effective compared to the use of expiration dates since outdated
packaging material does not have to be removed and thrown away causing items to be rewrapped.
Also, since there are no expiration dates, expired items do not have to be pulled for reprocessing
which cuts down on time and labor. Personnel are able to focus on other things that require their
attention.

Similarities And Differences Between The Scottish And...
Even though there are many similarities between the Scottish and Irish cultures, there are also many
differences. For one, the Scottish have trouble defining what Scottish culture is, this is because they
joined the UK at a very early time. Because of this, much of Scottish culture has joined together with
English culture. This could be seen when we were walking around Glasgow and saw many English
Art and sculptures, as well as walking around the Holyrood house in Edenborough. And now that
Scotland may break away from England, the people cling to fantasy and mystery, as well as their own
accomplishments to create and define Scottish culture. In Glasgow, the Peoples Palace displayed many
accomplishments of the cities people, all stating that they were the first to invent this and the first to
do that. Instead of looking back, the city showed how it was progressive and urged its people to move
forward. In Edenborough, the tour guide talked about how they were the first to invent skyscrapers
and other architecture. Instead of talking about how the country moved forward as a whole, each city
talked about how they moved forward and the people in it. Scotland has also clung to many
mythological and fantasy ideals. For one, the national animal of Scotland is the Unicorn, which is a
mythological creature. Also, during the ghost tour I took around Edenborough, the Scottish believe
that they invented Halloween and the city is filled with ghost stories. Even in the north, Loch

Benefits of Co-Curricular Activities
Benefits of Co curricular Activities
Everyone knows about co curricular. What some of us don t know about curriculum is that curriculum
is as a body of knowledge to be transmitted, it is also as an attempt to achieve certain ends in students
product, plus it is as a process and it is as praxis(Mark K. Smith 1996, 2000). It gave many benefits to
a wide range of students and it may help them in many ways. It is also a part of education where it is
held outdoors or indoors. Co curricular activities are optional and pursued outside the classroom to
enrich the course syllabi. They are meant to complement and not interfere with the studies. Some say
that it is does intervene with studies but there are many researches which state the benefits ... Show

It is because some situations may put the students in the wrong information about co curricular
activities but when they are already participate they will have the opportunity to learn from these
mistakes. Otherwise, self confidence can give the students the opportunity to have faith in others.
Sometimes responsibility is not delegated to the student, and in these cases the student must trust their
colleagues. Besides, students will be motivated by having self esteem in their life. Self esteem can
teach students to believe in themselves. Students will have confidence in their own choices especially
when people don t trust them. It also can teach students not to fear or to be de motivated by rejection.
Students will almost always face rejection, though they must not be provoked in these circumstances.
Self respect teaches students to fully respect their decision and thoughts. When a student shows
respect for choices they have made, others around them in turn will also learn to respect them. It also
encourage students not be second judging their own decisions. Most students face the dilemma of
second judging their choices, especially when the odds are against them. By doing co curriculum
activities, students are encouraged to have faith in the choices they make.
Thirdly, it can build the skills such as social skills, leading skills, and teamwork skills. In social skills,
it gives students the opportunity to socialize with other peoples. For

Black/African Americans. The Ku Klux Klan still continues its violence and hatred all over the United
States sharing persuasion of words and its beliefs to all Americans and ask everyone to join for the
good of their country. The Black Americans was free slaved, that had the same rights as the white

their values and beliefs to let people with the same agreements join to support KKK. The purpose was
to provide the people of the South with the leadership to get the values of Western Civilization back
that was in use from them. The Ku Klux Klan might have been released, because some people were
confused when they join the group but never knew how to join further today, some White Americans
are still discriminating against Black Americans. Black people just wants peace. As for the Ku Klux

Could there be dishonest employees where you work? Unfortunately, sometimes the answer is yes.
For example, in addition to the highly publicized frauds at Enron, WorldCom, Tyco, and Global
Crossing, the financial press recently reported the following. A bookkeeper in a small company
diverted $750,000 of bill payments to a personal bank account over a three year period. A shipping
clerk with 28 years of service shipped $125,000 of merchandise to himself. A computer operator
embezzled $21 million from Wells Fargo Bank over a two year period. A church treasurer borrowed
$150,000 of church funds to finance a friend s business dealings.
These situations emphasize the need for organizations to have good systems of internal control.
Internal control consists of all the related methods and measures adopted within an organization to: 1.
Safeguard its assets from employee theft, robbery, and unauthorized use. 2. Enhance the accuracy and
reliability of its accounting records. This is done by reducing the risk of errors

The Reflection Of The Cosmic Lottery
The path one takes to perceiving their faith is essential for it to grow and mature during the walk of
life. Faith is the belief in something to the point that it becomes a point of reference for the other parts
of your life. Faith has always been personal and built upon with obtaining more knowledge of God,
but in the pursuit of more knowledge could bring about disbelief and skepticism. Skepticism and
disbelief comes along in the faith when answers are not answered to the extent that we would like or
are beyond our grasp. A God that we can fully understand is not worthy of our praise is a phrase that
could either bring light to why we can never find a concrete answer or is not satisfactory to the
skeptic. Skepticism and doubt are catalysts to make faith grow.
Skepticism towards the Bible can lead to the acceptance of beliefs that pertain to your own
individualistic ideology. Evans uses her cosmic lottery to explain the reason and circumstances a
person is dealt with in their lives. The cosmic lottery is Evans perception on predestination, but
cosmic lottery takes more into account the societal aspect and then later their souls. I have read plenty
of articles about the Bible to learn new things and one day I came across an article about the Red Sea
being able to part naturally on unusual occasions. I was skeptic at first by responding in my head no it
was a miracle , but I could not really suppress the article because it changed how I could see miracle. I
concluded not

  • 2. The Physician-Patient Relationship The Physician Patient Relationship Tahira Duncan Drexel University Abstract Sexual contact that occurs concurrent with the patient physician relationship is considered to be sexual misconduct. The Hippocratic Oath prohibits such relationships. The Oath is deeply rooted in first do no harm. By violating beyond the boundaries in a patient physician relationship it cause harm to the patient. Boundaries: The limits of appropriate behavior by a professional toward his/her client. Transference: Of which a patient is usually unaware and/lacking insight into its significance. Undue Influence: A judicially created defense to transactions that have been imposed upon weak and vulnerable persons that allows the transactions to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Patients often don t know they have been violated usually until after interactions between patient and physician either fail or don t work out in favor of the patient. Sexual Misconduct Scenario: I ve been involved with my physician for a couple of months now. There are a lot of factors which make the relationship wrong mostly on his side: a huge age gap, his marriage amp; family, the fact that he s a doctor. He also knows my father, who is a fellow doctor, and the relationship started right when I practically committed suicide. It might be a stupid question, but did he take advantage? I am fully in my right mind and did not feel abused in any way, but I suppose psychology would show that there must be some part of me that was taken advantage of. We started the relationship and after a few days, it dwindled. Now I feel abandoned and used. The fact that the patient noted that she was fully in her right mind brings into play informed consent. Can a patient truly give consent to a sexual relationship with their physician? Considering undue influence a patient can t soundly give consent to having sexual intercourse with a doctor. They lack the knowledge due to transference. Next, non maleficence and beneficence, the Hippocratic Oath teaches, do no harm. There is a great risk to do potential harm to a patient especially by entering into a sexual relationship with them. Much of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Band Of The Beatles Even over 40 years after their breakup, it is almost impossible not to know who The Beatles are. This band of the mid twentieth century set a high bar for all other musical groups at the time they were active and even still today. Causing swarms of fans of all ages to scream and faint everywhere they went, they were the world s most popular musicians. Although their name is well known, not enough people know how the band that inspired millions came to be. The story of how two kids playing music became four men traveling the world and performing for thousands of adoring fans at a time gives dreamers hope. Today s generation cannot let tomorrow s generation forget that dreams do come true if they try hard to make them happen and never give up, just as The Beatles never did. As unbelievable as it might be, there are some people who think that this shockingly powerful band were not as famous as they were made out to be. Even with nearly every song being a chart topper, these people believe that there are bands that have accomplished more than The Beatles. It is true that some have come close, but it is easy to see that The Beatles were absolutely the most successful band of all time. The Beatles easily influenced the way people dressed, listened to music, and views of the world (Brundrett para. 4). The band s first song to be released in the United States by Capitol Records, I Want to Hold Your Hand, hit the public in January 1964 and immediately shot up the charts (Brundrett ... • 4. Grant s Defense Strategies In The Battle Of Cold Harbor In the battle of Cold Harbor, Grant planned to attack General Robert E. Lee s army to remove him from the Confederate capital and remove him from the confederate capital. Grant thought that he could overpower General Lee if he could draw him out of his protective barriers and into the open space. Grant had tried to do so before, but he had failed. Because he used a strategy of continuously calling troops to battle, he eventually had to wait until more troops arrived. Due to General Grant s attack ideas, General Lee s defense strategies, and Strategies of placing and protecting troops, The Battle of Cold Harbor was won by the confederacy. The defense strategies of the confederacy led to overpower the union with even less troops. The battle of Cold Harbor ended when Lee won the battle from strong defense strategies against the union, on June 12, 1864. Since this battle was so close to a confederate military base, the confederate military had more protection and more supplies. In the union, 12,737 men died and in the confederate, 4,595 men died in 12 days during the battle of Cold Harbor. Grant had sent in many more troops than the confederate did, so there were fewer men in the confederate who died. Grant ended up pulling out of Cold Harbor once he realized he would not win. • 5. Reflection Paper On TED Talk TED Talk Summative Reflection The beginning of a presentation is what must grab the audience s attention and tell them what s about to happen. I think I succeeded in informing my audience, but definitely could have improved the interest factor of my video. My introduction is a simple title animation going into my presentation, and my introduction is a very basic overview of what my presentation will be covering. Looking back on the example given and at other students videos, I realize some music and a hook could have been very helpful. A hook is especially important because it gets the audience excited for what s coming, and I notice now that my opening lines are pretty tame. Of course, I find it interesting, but my audience has not seen the video, so they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, I used some funny images and some informative ones, and I m not sure if that was the best choice. Perhaps higher quality images that backed up my points, even if there were fewer of them, would have been the better choice. I think my visual aids complimented my audio component, but they could have been more in depth representations of my talking points as a whole. Finally, it comes to my oral presentation skills. I would say I have average ability to communicate orally, which I hoped to improve by splitting up my speech into different sections. I recorded each of these separately, sometimes recording seven or eight takes, for the sake of cutting out most stumbles and producing the best quality video I could. However, I think I still could have improved. There a few mistakes which I left in, and could have redone if I d had better time management skills. I was unsure about how expressive to be, as my video was half me talking and half narration. I tried to be reserved and easy to understand, but I think going bigger and being more animated would have helped keep my video interesting and fun to watch. Re watching myself speak made me realize that I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Advantages Of Rolling Bags For Nursing School Best rolling bag for nursing students What are the best rolling bags for nursing students? To be honest, nursing books are heavy and numerous. Although it might not be necessary to carry all books along to school, there will surely be times when you must tote several of them at once. Moreover, while on campus, you will probably do a lot of walking and it will not be easy toting heavy books. Research shows, carrying heavy books in small back packs on a constant basis can lead to long term back ache. I doubt if anyone will want to begin a nursing career with prolong back pain issues. This unnecessary pain can simply be avoided by using the proper tote bag. Although there are a lot of choices in tote bags for nursing student, not all bags are equal. Thus, when purchasing a rolling bag for nursing school, functionality should be the first thing to consider. You should ask yourself the following questions; will the bag hold a reasonable number of books? is there enough space for other stuffs such as laptops, tablets and nursing materials? You really need to consider these questions because most rolling bags available in the market do not have enough space to hold laptops and tablets. In addition, you must check if there are side pockets and areas of storage for extras such as keys, smartphones and water bottles. Another important quality to watch out for is durability. Adopt a Microbe: Klebsiella pneumoniae Shannon Miller, Alison Shottek, and Marisa Areostatico Wednesdays@11 and Fridays@11; Section E and I Professor Masi 2 December 2013 I. Introduction Klebsiella pneumoniae is a gram negative bacillus enterobacterium coliform. Klebsiella pneumoniae is a bacterium which is normally found in the human body, but several pathogenic strains cause infections in the human body. It is a nosocomial bacterium which is resistant to many common antibiotics. The antibiotic resistant strains are most common and cause the most concern. These strains are easily spread throughout extended stay hospital patients and to those in community settings with underlying diseases. Klebsiella pneumoniae is the fourth most common cause of pneumonia in ICU patients. Research is currently focused on creating new antibiotics to which Klebsiella pneumoniae is susceptible. Klebsiella pneumoniae is found in several different countries around the world. II. Structure and Physiology The morphology of Klebsiella pneumoniae is a bacillus shaped bacterium, which means it looks like a rod. This bacterium is also a non motile and Gram negative. This means that wherever the bacterium was inoculated into an agar, it only grew in that spot and did not grow outwards. Being gram negative means that the bacterium has a thin layer of peptidoglycan and stains red during the Gram staining process. Why do people think of Germany, World War Two, and the Holocaust when somebody mentions or views an image of the Swastika? The Swastika was used by Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany during World War Two and the Holocaust. During this historic time, it became a symbol of hate, anti semitism, violence, death, and murder (History) . However the symbol did not originate there. It was ancient symbol used over 3,000 years ago. Many religions, including Buddhists and Hindus, still use the Swastika today. The Swastika originated over 3,000 years ago as symbol of good luck. • 10. Emily Dickinson Extended Metaphors For most, specifically female poets, Emily Dickinson is a legend. Dickinson emerged out of an era in the 1800 s when women were not acknowledged for their diligence and were not given the opportunities to be educated as males were given. Dickinson wrote a total of one thousand seven hundred and seventy five poems including She Sweeps with many colored Brooms , which was written between 1858 and 1861. Dickinson is well known for the themes of her literary works to involve death, love, religion, nature, or eternity. The poem She Sweeps with many colored Brooms incorporates the use of a theme involving nature since in her poem a common housewife is being compared to a parting sunset. • 11. Essay on Visual Acuity as a Function of Retinal Eccentricity Visual Acuity Measured as a Function of Retinal Eccentricity Visual acuity is a measure of an observer s ability to see fine spatial detail (Cavonius amp; Schumacher, 1966). There are a number of factors that affect visual acuity, such as illumination and contrast, and various ways to measure it (Kalloniatis amp; Luu, 2005). One way to measure visual acuity is through target detection which requires the perception of the orientation of a stimulus such as a Landolt C or a Snellen E (Kalloniatis amp; Luu, 2005). The participant in the current experiment was referred to have their acuity tested. Target detection of a stimulus was used to measure the participant s visual acuity as a function of retinal eccentricity of the target. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The height and width of this optotype is designed to be five times the thickness of the stroke width and gap width, therefore the size of each critical detail is 1/5th of the overall height (Kalloniatis amp; Luu, 2005). Four stimulus sizes were used in the experiment as visual acuity was to be tested at four eccentricities (0Ëš, 20Ëš, 40Ëš and 60Ëš). These four stimulus sizes were calculated using the approximate minimum angle of resolution (MAR) of each eccentricity obtained from Millodot et al. s (1975) normal data. This value was then used to find the gap size and hence the stimulus size using a distance of 600cm. The reason for using the distance value of 600cm was because it is close to the threshold and therefore would be the starting point of stimulus presentation for each of the eccentricities. The formula used was: gap size = 600*tan(MARËš) ˃˃ size = 5 (600*tan(MARËš)) The stimulus sizes (and critical feature sizes) calculated and used for the eccentricities 0Ëš, 20Ëš, 40Ëš and 60Ëš were 0.9cm (0.18cm), 2.2cm (0.44cm), 6.13cm (1.23cm) and 17.5cm (3.5cm) respectively. Procedure As already stated, it was decided by the experimenter to test visual acuity at the following eccentricities: 0Ëš, 20Ëš, 40Ëš and 60Ëš. At the turn of the century, and after gaining our independence, the United States land mass more than doubled through the use of purchasing, annexing, and war. However, the foreign policy of our government took a predominately isolationist stand. This was a national policy of abstaining from political or economic relations with other countries. General Washington shaped these values by upholding and encouraging the use of these principles by warning to avoid alliances in his farewell speech. Although the United States didn t have the authority or firepower to back this up, it resulted in almost four decades of compulsory US involvement in any foreign affair. After the Civil War, Isolationistic practices grew stronger as the government had to find a way to re unite the torn nation. President Grover Cleveland promised to avoid committing the nation to form any alliances with other countries while also opposed to the acquisition of new land. The climate of post Civil War US prevented us from deep involvement in foreign affairs. Our navy was also weakened by the war. Our natural resources were scarce and our diplomatic relations with other countries had been neglected. With the attention of our government focused solely on our nation, we proceeded to develop our interior. One of the biggest reasons for growth in US land mass was the public idea of Manifest Destiny. Americans believed that it was the destiny of the United States to populate a huge, vast continent. In the 1890 s, the Isolationist movement took a back seat and American foreign policy followed heavy Expansionism. After the total expansion into the west, Americans perceived notion of Manifest Destiny changed. For one, the Scottish have trouble defining what Scottish culture is, this is because they joined the UK at a very early time. Because of this, much of Scottish culture has joined together with English culture. This could be seen when we were walking around Glasgow and saw many English Art and sculptures, as well as walking around the Holyrood house in Edenborough. And now that Scotland may break away from England, the people cling to fantasy and mystery, as well as their own accomplishments to create and define Scottish culture.
