Air Commerce Act Of 1926 Research Paper
The Air Mail Acy of 1925 (Kelly Act)
Before aircraft, long distance movement of mail was the domain of the railroads. As the use of aircraft
in the transportation of mail started to increase, the railroads began to worry about their longstanding
government contracts, and how aviation would infringe upon them. Using airplanes was extremely
cost effective, and their use could not be denied. In order to appease both sides the Postmaster, Harry
S. New, and Congressman, Clyde Kelly, collaborated to create a legislative bill in 1925 that increased
the use of aircraft but made the airline companies pay for it by requiring the use of larger airplanes
that could transport passengers in addition to the mail. Ten company s bids for the 12 contract airmail
(CAM) routes established throughout the United States. These companies included, Colonial Air
Transport founded by Juan Trippe, whom later founded Pan American Airways, Robertson Aircraft
Corporation the forerunner to American Airlines, National Air Transport that later became United
Airlines, and several others that would become well known airlines of today. Many improvements to
aircraft design were a result of this bill, these improvements led to better engines, better cargo
capacity, and overall more reliable aircraft. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Flexible Working In Australia
A flexible working environment is detrimental to the workforce of today s society. Society exists in an
ever changing, fast and evolving world in which the fluid nature and culture of employees, needs to be
considered. Employers who embrace a flexible working environment for their employees will see
double the returns in productivity, initiative and drive to succeed in achieving company goals.
Today s workforce is a changing workforce due to the economic stance on Australian citizens as well
as the window of opportunity is changing. Entering the workforce are no longer school leavers, the
middle aged and seniors but now we are seeing a trend of inclusion of working mothers, part time
parents, shared care arrangements, semi retirees and a push in paid / unpaid internships. Due to the
rising costs of literally everything in Australia, more and more Australians are being forced to return to
work and in doing so, having to work around other arrangements or commitments as well. ... Show

Benefits arising from embracing a changing workforce would develop a positive impact in turn
developing a changing work culture. Attributes of employees who feel supported by their employer
would be more than likely to deliver more than set KPIs of the business. In allowing flexible hours,
flexible work space and work place, employees attitude to work would change. The freedom for not
only the Businesses in Australia but the freedom of individuals to self develop, implement and self
manage therefore developing the individual in working in a myriad of environments, with a range of
stakeholders would expand the attributes of the individual leading to an increase in innovative ideas

Essay on Cats Do NOT Cause Bad Luck
What is superstition? According to The Little Oxford Dictionary, superstition is belief in the existence
or power of the supernatural; irrational fear of the unknown; a religion or practice based on such
tendencies; widely held but wrong idea. Let us examine that definition in depth. First, there is belief in
the existence or power of the supernatural . This means that there is believed to be some force that can
influence the events on the Earth. Second, there is irrational fear of the unknown. This has been
endemic to the human race since the early days when a cave man did not know if that cave was safe to
enter or if he would be attacked by a bear. Third, a religion or practice based on such tendencies. This
is the belief ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some examples of common, everyday superstition include the belief that the number 13 is unlucky,
that walking under a ladder will bring bad luck, and that a black cat crossing your path can affect your
luck. Belief that black cats affect your luck goes far back in time. One king of England, Charles I,
owned a black cat. His fear of losing it was so great that he had it guarded. The day after it fell ill and
died, he was arrested. Black cats were often witches in disguise or witches familiars. There were also
many cat charms relating to ships and the sea. Fishermen s wives would keep a black cat at home to
prevent disaster at sea, consequently the cats became very valuable and were often stolen. If a cat ran
ahead of a sailor to the pier that would bring good luck, but if the cat crossed his path it means bad
luck. For luck, cats were often kept on board ships. If a sailor was approached by the ship s cat it
meant good luck, but if the cat only came halfway and went away again it meant bad luck. The worst
possible cat related act, guaranteed to raise a storm and bring bad luck of all sorts, was to throw the cat
overboard. Cat superstitions were also common in medicine. Fur and blood drawn from various parts
of the cat s anatomy cured everything from shingles to St. Anthony s Fire.
All of these superstitions today boil down to Black cats cause bad luck. A cat crossing your path will
adversely affect your luck.

Dora Maar s Bust Of A Woman
Pablo Picasso s muse of almost ten years, Dora Maar, was depicted many times throughout his
paintings and sculptures (Riding). In his 1941 oil on canvas painting, Bust of a Woman (Dora Maar),
Picasso looked to his muse once again for inspiration. Neither one of Picasso s most famous, nor best
paintings, Bust of a Woman still tells a story of the time and place of a tumultuous artist muse
relationship encapsulated by Picasso s surrealist expression in Nazi occupied France during World
War II. On its face, Bust of a Woman appears secular Dora Maar is not obviously representative of any
sort of entity. However, Picasso did place her on a pedestal for a time and I wonder if he intentionally
back lit her, painting the light around her head and hair to depict a light aura or halo effect (Picasso).
In the top left corner of the room, the diagonal lines look like a spotlight in motion, beaming down
upon her while drawing attention to this somewhat negative space (Picasso). Behind Dora Maar, the

Although I love the throw back to his blue period with the beautiful, swirling lines of her bodice and
the checkered skirt, I do not think that this is the best example of surrealism. Honestly, it seemed like
Picasso was rushed towards the end (I am assuming that her left hand on the right side of the painting
was the last thing that he painted, but I could be wrong). The light is different, the lines along the
outside of the hand are not crisp and it even appears as if the paint is running a bit something that such
a deliberate artist would seem to notice (Picasso). The right hand is nice with the pinkish beige upside
down V formation between the blues of the other fingers that depict strength (Picasso). Maybe he was
trying to make her left hand appear as if it was reaching out towards the viewer, but it still looks too

Lewis and Clark Expedition
James Jang William and Meriwether, better known as Lewis and Clark, were hired by the U.S.
president Thomas Jefferson to explore the newly bought Louisiana Purchase. The Louisiana Purchase
was bought from France in 1803. Lewis and Clark started their expedition in 1804 near St. Louis. The
group of explorers called themselves the corps of discovery. In the first winter they were helped by a
Shoshone Indian named Sacagawea. Their journey was full of trouble and challenges but in the end
led to a great discovery that changed the lives and beliefs of people everywhere. Their expedition
stretched from camp wood to fort Clatsop. Lewis and Clark knew each other from the war where
Clark was under William Lewis s command later then Thomas Jefferson recruited Clark to lead this
exploration and then he went to William Lewis to ask him to come along with him. Their expedition
was full of confusing water ways that could potentially ruin their exploration for the most convenient
route through the Louisiana Purchase. One problem was that America claimed parts of land that were
occupied by the Native Americans; this was a problem because this caused many disputes between
Americans and the Natives that lived there. This expedition was not to find trade roots or to search for
science but was to discover the Louisiana Purchase. In May of 1804 the expedition started off in camp

Saint Catherine s Transfiguration
Before having his last supper and being crucified, Jesus Christ walked up a mountain to pray with
three of his disciples, Peter, John and James. As the three slept, Christ was visited by the spirits of
Moses and Elijah who told him that he would have to sacrifice himself in Jerusalem. Once the
disciples awoke, they were greeted by Christ who was covered in holy light as a voice in large clouds
told them: This is my son, whom I have chosen; listen to him. As they all went down the mountain,
Christ told his disciples that what had happened needed to be a secret until he would be resurrected,
questioning the disciples loyalty which they did not break. This scene became Christ s transfiguration,
translated by the church in the bible after his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Raphael s scene, Christ floats in the air with his arms stretched out and his legs bent with his robes
flapping behind and around him while the mosaic portrays Christ and his clothes standing still with his
hands showing the symbols of the church. While Raphael emphasises on the power of his stance as his
light and movements affect the world around him, the mosaic uses its characterization to focus on the
role of Christ as his stance is meant to inspire and be respected by the church and its visitors.
Similarly, Elijah and Moses in Raphael s transfiguration are floating as well, gliding their way to and
around Christ as they carry their wavering robes and books, representing them to the audience as wise
scholars and teachers who stare valiantly at the holy light of Christ. At the same time, in the mosaic,
these same characters simply stand in the corners of the scene standing as still as the mosaic s Christ
and their arms pointing up and towards him, showing their command and guidance over him and the
church. Surprisingly, Peter, John and James share similar characterizations between the two art pieces.
In both Raphael s and the mosaic s interpretation, one of the disciples lays below Christ with his head
leaning on his arm and looking above in awe and bewilderment. While the other two disciples share

Imagine this, going into a burning building that could collapse, explode, or kill and you are the one
that is going to save someone s life inside and put your life on the line. This is what firefighters have
to think about everyday whether they are from the United States, Europe, or any other country.
Despite this similarity and multiple more, the United States and the Europeans fire services differences

Approximately 1,134,400 people in the United States are firefighters. About 346,000 are career and

that they are not regular car brands. Some brands of American trucks are Rosenbauer, E ONE, and
Pierce. A reason for using custom cabs is because they can make trucks bigger in America because of
the larger roads. The United States ladder trucks have a lot of uses. They have equipment for rescuing
people, ventilation, and fire suppression which is actually putting out the fire. European trucks are
very different from American trucks. Their trucks are ninety five percent commercial cabs so, their
trucks are brands like Mercedes or Volvo. They use these brands because they make smaller and more
compact trucks for their smaller roads. Unlike the American ladder truck, the Europeans don t have
many with pumps or tanks. They are strictly use for rescuing and not putting out fire. They also don t

The definition of a tragic flaw is, a personality trait that ultimately leads to a character s own downfall.

tragic flaws negatively affect him along with others around him. He is extremely jealous of the
success in Don Pedro and Claudio s lives, and is attempting to ruin Claudio and Hero s happiness in
their upcoming marriage. In the book, Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare, Don John

Workplace Diversity Of The Workplace
Job s face many struggles and challenges each and every day. Workplace diversity is something which
is being talked about the most here lately. Out breaks of minimum wage, sexualities, gender, and even
your skin color affects what diversity a business would want. Within the business, the professional
level is set pretty high due to the superior designers making us able to dress well fashioned. When
people step into a business they do not want someone that is going to walk in with a t shirt and gym
shorts, they would rather them be in dress pants and a nice dress shirt with fashionable shoe wear. It
does not have to be the top notch designer clothing, just something which doesn t scream I just woke
up from bed. The thing which is being most talked about these days is diversity. People who are
African American, white, Hispanic, gay, lesbian, bisexual, male, or even female could feel unwanted
at a higher end business. The more people are expanding their personalities and how much they want
to be shown that anyone could do anything just as much as the next man is outrageous. Workplace
diversity is becoming more intense as the years continue on and it is important to employers and
employees for a number of reasons, a few of them being that it would gain mutual respect with
everyone, conflict resolution would not be as much of an issue, and lastly the increased exposure due
to all of the workplace diversity. Kitts 2

My biggest recommendation is to set yourself a deadline to complete your project. I did this, based on
when I was taking my final AAT exams, and it gave me the drive to not let unit 10 linger. I had to give
it one final push. After all, I d worked so hard over the past two and a half years why fall at the final

Workplace mentor
We recommend that you arrange for someone to be a workplace mentor. If you re currently working in
an accounting role, you should receive support and guidance from your employer as well as your
assessor throughout the development of your project. They will also have a greater understanding
about your chosen topic than your assessor can have.
Your mentor does not have to be your manager but should be someone who can help you through your
project, providing both technical and motivational support. Try to make sure that your mentor is
involved in your work from the outset and understands the standards and timescales you re working
to. They may be able to offer guidance on suitable ideas for the project by identifying current

Depiction Of Gladiator
A True Depiction of a Gladiator
There have been many movies that try to demonstrate how gladiators trained for their violent combat
against other gladiators, in hope to win and keep their lives at the end of their gruesome battles.
Although, the 1960 s movie Spartacus, with Kirk Douglas, had a few differences demonstrating how
actual gladiators trained in Rome, it still contains more accurate scenes displaying their intense
training. The movie showed the kind of training schools they were in, the armor used, and the styles of
fighting that they practiced to prepare these men, as they did hundreds of years ago in Rome.
To begin with, around 264 BC the gladiator games were introduced in Rome, called Munera. These
games were initially hosted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Rome, there were around 30 different gladiators that were experts with the different shields,
weapons, and armor. There were the elite gladiators, who were freed and decided to remain as
gladiators. Then there were heavily armed gladiators that had a lot of armor and were protected, but
had very little movement when fighting. Finally, there were the lightly armed gladiators, they had little
to no armor, but had the ability to move more freely when fighting. The armor used during their
practices was wooden swords and shields instead of real equipment, for the protection of the
gladiators, the soldiers, and trainers who worked there. When it was time for a match the gladiators
would use real swords, shields, and sometimes armor to battle (Types of Gladiators). The gladiators
also were used to represent strong gods by the way they were dressed and the weapons they used. For
instance, there were unusual weapons, such as a trident, used by the god Neptune, and the use of a net
to follow the water god theme (Retiarri). Unlike in actual gladiator schools, in the movie, it did not
seem to have the men separated by their specialty but they all train together. Spartacus, and the other
gladiators did train using wooden swords and shields. There was a scene were Spartacus had to
actually fight till the death with another gladiator from the school, because some wealthy government
men and their wives came to Ludi Gladiatorium and wanted to see a fight. They paid a high
percentage of money to make this happen, since it was not allowed to fight these gladiators till death
in the schools. Spartacus was given a short sword and a shield, while his opponent was given a fish net
and a trident to battle. Although, Spartacus did not win that fight because his opponent spared his life,
the man did unfortunately get murdered on

This unit existed until May 2003 when the anti corruption and economic crimes Act (ACECA),
established the Kenya Anti corruption commission (KACC). The ACECA replaced the prevention of
corruption Act, 1956. ACECA is the key statute in the fight against corruption and is complimented by
the public office ethics Act. Past reforms on public expenditure management have not worked well as
the executive arm of the government has consistently failed to act on various recommendations of the
watchdog institutions on the mismanagement of public funds. Similarly, the stated war against
corruption, which is rampant in the public expenditure management, is yet to be won mainly due to
legal technicalities encountered in trying to establish an effective and independent anti corruption
authority. There is therefore need for a thorough examination of the fiscal systems with a view to
formulating pragmatic remedial measures (Baumol, 2003). Research Problem Statement The problem
of this study is to explore the effects of corruption on the economic growth in Kenya. Corruption cases
reported to KACC increased by 16 % from 3637 in 2,008 to 4473 in 2009 (economic survey 2010).
Corruption affects both the nation and the individual. At the national level, corruption has led to poor
economic performance. This has resulted in: increased taxation burdens on Kenyans; unplanned,
misdirected expenditure on projects

Compare and Contrast Totalitarian and Democracy Propaganda
Propaganda is influencing the attitude of countries and nation s communities toward some cause or
position. There are two different extreme types of systems of government that use propaganda,
totalitarian and democracy. In a totalitarian government, this government has power over every aspect
of personal and private life. It is an extremely controlling and dictatorial type of government. On the
opposite end of the spectrum is the democracy government where the people get to vote for the party
they want to rule. This type of government is open and extremely permissive and allows freedom of
speech and freedom of the press.

The Nazi party in Germany was a prime example of a totalitarian government and used propaganda
during World War II. The leader of the Nazi party, Adolf Hitler, saw propaganda as a vehicle of
political salesmanship in a mass market. Hitler really admired American propaganda. He admired it so
much, he appointed Nazi Joseph Goebbels as Germany s minister of propaganda. Goebbels used art
propaganda to glorify the state and attack those who were considered an enemy. In 1933 when the
Nazi party assumed power, propaganda was used it to show that it is a positive form of government
and take control over the public opinion ( Propaganda ).
The United States is a democracy government that has the most effective and powerful propaganda in
the world. The United States figured out that people respond the best to emotional appeals. This was
the birth of American propaganda in the advertising industry. Fear, hatred, lust, greed and envy are
good tools for propaganda, but fear is the most motivating. In the United States, the top ways that
industries used propaganda to make more sales was to advertising sexiness, pride of ownership, and
fear of falling behind your neighbors ( Pure ). Hitler s goals for propaganda were to get German s to
believe that all races other then the Aryan races are bad. Two of the main groups he focused on were
the Jews and the handicaps. He told the German people that Jews and

but I was still amped up to do more. Less than seven minutes into our practice she had me gather all

Mary Oliver s Poetry By Mary Oliver
How do authors generate ideas when writing? Many authors shape their works by reflecting on
occurrences in their lives. While some utilize positive occurrences, more often than not, poets
incorporate unpleasant experiences in their compositions. Mary Oliver exhibits this technique by
incorporating her tough childhood into her poetry. ...with words, I could build a world I could live in. I
had a very dysfunctional family, and a very hard childhood. So I made a world out of words. And it
was my salvation (Shriver). As a result of her sufferings, Oliver also turned to nature for inspiration.

vividly describes how this traumatic experience shaped this child s adult life: and you see how the
child grows/timidly, crouching in corners/...you hear the most mournful cry ( Rage 22 25). Oliver
suppressed these feelings of abuse for a very long time and not knowing what to do, for she feared her
oppressive father and felt that she was the one to blame. Sexual abuse is very painful to deal with,
especially when you have no one to turn to seek comfort and help. It took years of her life to learn
how to love and be loved in return. It is truly remarkable that from such darkness in her childhood,
Oliver emerged stronger, braver, and more trusting. She successfully liberated herself from such tragic
experiences, and serves as a role model in

Attention Problems and Hyper Activity domains. These scores seem to indicate Peter is aware of these
personal attributes that have been so frequently documented in the educational record. Students who
are aware of these propensities are more likely to attempt to self regulate said behavior, and typically

Bruce Weigl´s Poems on Vietnam War
To this day the Vietnam War is still considered to be one of the most devastating wars in history and
has been a topic of resentment to the American culture thirty three years after its end. For the
American public it s marked as being the point in history where distrust in our government was at an
all time high, mainly because most of the war s carnage was witnessed on television for the first time.
For all the bloodshed American and Vietnamese soldiers suffered through, the war has left a perpetual
mark not only on the United States but ultimately has left a permanent scar on the soldiers who fought
and managed to survive the war. Renowned war poet, Bruce Weigl, like most young American men

Weigl has dug deep into his recollection of the war to produce work that can be thought of as
artistically beautiful. It s his aim to find the means, despite everything he s endured, to transcend
misery in his poetry. This is done on purpose and allows Weigl to employ a style in his poetry that s
dependent on the sound of words, to express an image so openly that the verses depict a genuine
emotion that doesn t pose as an insult to readers. Underneath the rubble of his misfortune there is a
level of integrity on display that readers can appreciate. Weigl likes to view the world objectively and
so does his poetry in a very responsible and accountable manner. A portion of the poetry created by
Weigl illustrates a gap between generations. The general belief is that the United States sees what
happened in Vietnam from a distance, but for those living in Vietnam it completely altered their lives.
Another excerpt from Weigl s memoir expresses this as he reveals the story of a woman he d met in
Vietnam. Titled, Her Life Runs like a Red Silk Flag illustrates exactly just how twisted and merciless

Examples Of Irony In Good Country People
What is a Good Country Person? Who makes the decision in whether a person is good or not. Is there
such thing as good person? When a person thinks that they are always good, it probably means that
they are are lying because no one person is perfect. Although there is no such thing as a perfect
person, often times people are sometimes perceived to be perfect or better than they really are.
Perception is the ability to see, hear, or become aware of something through the senses. In her article
on the morality of perception, Gayman acknowledges, Unlike mere recognition, perception requires
the work of the intelligence and demands careful observation and engaged attention (1). Being able to
perceive the character of a person is necessary if a person wants to fully trust another person. In Good
Country People by Flannery O Connor, irony, symbolism, and characterization are used to prove that
one s perception of something or someone is not always reliable.
Irony is the expression of one s meaning by using language that usually means the opposite. Typically
in literature, irony is used in emphatic sense. There is a multitude of irony in Good Country People.
The character s names of this story are incredibly ironic. Joy Hulga is ironic because she is the furthest
from being joyful. Another example is, Mrs. Freeman. She is not free because she has been hired and
enslaved by Mrs. Hopewell. Another type of irony in Good Country People is how Joy Hulga s

Ancient Roman And Greek Architecture
Modern Architecture around the globe had been influenced by ancient Roman and Greek architectural.
Although both ancient Romans and Greeks are recognized for their innovations in architecture having
both constructed a variety of buildings and structures that can still be appreciated today, they appear to
have concentrated mostly on the creation of temples which at first sight seem similar but in reality
they each diverged and had their own identity and served for different purposes. Ancient Greek and
Roman temples were both similarly built to carry out religious or spiritual happenings, and for the
adoration of their gods who were believed to protect and sustain their own community. Compared to
the Romans, the purpose of building the Greeks temples originated with the idea of constructing a
sacred precinct as a home for their gods which was represented by a colossal cult image placed in an
inner chamber called naos or cella . According to historians, the Greek not only worshiped their gods,
but they honored them as well by having daily offerings. Greek temples had servants who were in
charge of ensuring the needs and care of their deities. Symbolically, their temples were a
representation of their philosophy and civilization. Roman temples were somehow similar in that their
temples functioned as a sacred precinct to honor the Gods. Likewise, they were represented by statues,
however they had a more decorative purpose and were placed in apses instead. Equally important,

about how her father took her into the backyard to see the first satellite in the sky and when she asked
if one day she could go into space, her father told her that she definitely could. Since at that time, only

Strengths Difficulties
During the process of working on the group assignment and presentation, it is observed that the team
has shown some good features of teamworking, which helped us to finish the groupwork task in a
higher quality and efficiency. These features might include:
Schedule Planning and Management. One of the good points for the team is to process the work
schedule with flexibility and conscientiousness. For instance, before taking the first group meeting,
the team members had shared class and working timetables so that the team could find the meeting
time that all team members are available and ensure the quality of meeting. Moreover, when booking
the room at meeting time, the team will book rooms for two more hours in case that the problem might
not be solved in the scheduled meeting time, which provides high flexibility for the team.
Information Share Analysis. Another good point for the team is to share the information and make
analysis for multiple parts. Instead of fully distributing assignment parts to each member, the team
shared all the cases as well as articles found to one independent folder, then thoroughly discussed the
possibility to apply these cases in different parts. Thus, the final group assignment had shown high
consistency on the content and the overall quality of our groupwork had been

BASKETBALL
The American sport of basketball has come a long way since it was invented by
James Naismith in 1891. Originally, the game was played with a soccer ball and peach
baskets instead of a backboard and rim. There were no holes in the baskets and a ladder
was used to retrieve the ball if it did stay in the basket. There were about fifty
players on opposing teams and players who committed fouls were sent to a hockey like
penalty box. Today the game has changed tremendously and basketball has become one
of the top three sports in North America. The game of basketball has been considerably polished. It is

When Michael Jordan came on the scene, he
took basketball to a fantasy level. Nicknamed Air Jordan for his unique ability to soar
to great heights, he is considered as the greatest player who ever played the game.
Even if someone had never watched an NBA game, they would have heard of Jordan. He
overwhelmed the fans with his fade aways and amazed them with his dunks. He even

He retired in 1999, it made the headlines in even the Japanese newspapers.
Even though he was a superstar of the game he did not do it by himself. In order to play

team and each player on the court has to make a contribution. Good, solid defensive plays

Earned Income Tax Case Study
For many years low income families have been stigmatized due programs destined to provide welfare.
Most of the families that are in need of economic support undergo a scrutinized agenda, which most of
the time, question by question undresses recipients by stripping their dignity. In my childhood we used
something similar to food stamps. We were a family of 12 members, parents and 10 children. I
remembered my mother crying full of anger and frustration when the government sent a letter saying:

outreach to individuals who can benefit from those services. Same program has been implemented to
reach families located in New York and California. The Virginia government contracted a private
agency to prepare mailing notices and perform phone calls to instruct qualified candidates to use EITC

evidence on the impacts of low cost outreach for the EITC, including a simple cost benefit analysis;
and more recent estimates of EITC take up rates for recipients of public assistance, based on accurate
data sources. This study also uses large sample sizes even though they are only for Virginia (a starting

Hangover Research Papers
According to nurses and bartenders, the best way to cure hangover symptoms after a long night out of
drinking is with lots of fluids. [A hangover] is when you wake up after probably one of the best nights
of your life, but you feel like a bag of poop and recently got run over by a train, nursing student Laura
Gurke at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh said. For years many have tried to determine what exactly
constitutes a hangover, but there are theories that it is caused from dehydration to not eating enough

Alcoholic drinks will make you feel better in the moment, but then later on your hangover either

drinking alcohol doesn t seem like the best option after a long night out, nurse of 30 years Shari
Kuchan said water is the best liquid to cure that hangover. Most hangovers are a result of dehydration
so drinking lots of fluids is the best advice, Kuchan said. According to Kuchan, there are not many
tricks to getting rid of a hangover, which is why she sees so many people in the ER with severe
hangover symptoms. If they come to an ER we give them a banana bag which is an IV with vitamins
in it, Kuchan said. We will give them something for the nausea and advice not to do that again. Gurke,
who has tried to cure her hangover with water and failed, suggests having a bottle of Pedialyte ready

Analysis Of Kenny Chesney s Song American Kids
In America, our identity often comes from the culture we live in and develop for ourselves. The
identity of many Americans is also developed by their actions. Some groups develop an identity by
speaking their native language, like some members of Chinatown in various American cities. Others
develop their identities by the way they dress, music they listen to, and their sexual identity. We can
clearly see some of the largest factors used to develop one s identity is the area in which they live in
and their actions throughout their day to day life. In Kenny Chesney s song American Kids we see the
development of identity from the hometowns and actions of these so called kids. In his song Chesney

We can use the words of Akeel Bilgrami in his essay Notes toward the definition of identity to help us
analyze and question Chesney s song. In his essay Bilgrami says there is an outset between the
subjective and objective aspects of identity. Your subjective identity is what you conceive yourself to
be, whereas your objective identity is how you might be viewed independently of how you see
yourself (Bilgrami 5). These definitions can easily be applied to say that Chesney only provides us an
objective view of the overall group. This causes wonder as to what the subjective identity of being an
American these teens may have, then bringing us to question, is it possible for an objective identity to
represent the subjective identity of a person? To answer this question, we must analyze how Chesney
builds this identity and use outside texts such as that of Bilgrami, The Citizen and the Terrorist by
Audrey Lorde, as well as What does it mean to be an American? by Sarah Song to assist in this
analysis.
The answer to this question is one that can be said very simply, the true answer for when someone
asks if an objective identity can accurately represent a subjective identity is, No. This one word totally
encompasses this as there is no way to completely give an accurate view of a subjective identity

Tar Sands, By Jon Brownell
Tar Sands Essay Jon Brownell The Alberta Tar Sands are large deposits of bitumen,a sticky, black and
viscous semi solid form of petroleum.(Merriam Webster) The bitumen is extracted from the earth and
separated from materials that are not petroleum. This process consumes both water from the
Athabasca River drainage basin and energy. While emissions from the water used are low the airborne
pollutants contain more than 350 kilograms of cancer causing chemicals every four months.(Kelly)
Also, bitumen is one of the least efficient power sources in the world.(Rapier) The Tar Sands are
dangerous for people to live near, are environmentally damaging and unsustainable and are an
inefficient source of power compared to other sources available in Canada. While the Tar Sands are
currently good for the canadian economy, in the long term they will cost us more than they make. The
content of cancer causing chemicals like PAHs (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) is twice as high as
the standard recommended by the national oceanic and atmospheric administration in the United
States. These levels have been observed to cause liver cancer in fish. (Timoney 68) Fish from Lake
Athabasca have been found with deformities other than liver cancer, like lumps or bumps. Cancer
levels in people who live in Fort Chipewyan are much higher than in other parts of the country.

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest And 1984 Critical Analysis
The two texts studied, 1984 and One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, both teach the viewer essential
lessons about the importance of freedom and the dangers of despotism. They do this by showing the
viewer how awful life is in the absence of freedom, the constant abuse of power by authoritarian
forces, and the elimination of love. The film 1984, directed by Michael Radford, is based on the
highly acclaimed novel, 1984, written by George Orwell. The film follows the life of a man called

The lack of freedom is shown in One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest when Nurse Ratched prohibits
Randle and the others from watching the World Series. In order for Randle to be able to watch the
World Series, he must obtain a certain amount of votes. At first, he does not, leaving Nurse Ratched
once again feeling successful. The second time Randle asks to watch the game, he does obtain the
required amount of votes, yet Nurse Ratched claims it does not count, as the requirement was not met
while the group meeting was still running. Small instances like this leave people such as Randle left
feeling helpless and as if they are not entitled to basic forms of enjoyment. The lesson that each of the
texts attempt to show the reader is that freedom is an important aspect of life, even having the freedom
to do what we view as minuscule activities, such as to choose what to watch on television.
Love is believed to be having a deep affection for someone, whether that be a spouse, parent, or child.

Worldview Essay
Worldview Essay Today s society consists of many worldviews. Most people tend to pull beliefs from
different religions, but often stick to one main worldview. A worldview to me is the gathering of
beliefs that shape what we do on a daily basis and forms our overall view on life. When I look at my
beliefs critically, I am able to see my worldview and see how it compares to different worldviews, but
also how it compares mainly to the Christian Worldview. My view of God is very similar to the non
denomination Christian Worldview. I believe that God is an omnipotent Trinity of Father, Son, and

If not, they are condemned to hell. The nature of the universe is something that very few worldviews
can agree on. Many peoples worldviews are mainly concerned with materialistic things because there
is no supernatural being; it is merely an arrangement of particles. However, I believe that the universe
is an illusion (Cosgrove, 2006, p. 30). To me, it is an illusion that is able to leave us to a life and
afterlife filled with God. What makes the difference is what a person truly believes in at the end.
Whether someone believes in a materialistic universe or the illusion of the universe that leads to a God
filled life decides how he or she lives his or her life. Personally, I believe all that matters in the end is
God and my faith in Him. The question of how I know what I know is a question that is one of the
most difficult I have encountered. Much of what I know is based on logic and thinking. This is where I
may veer off of the Christian Worldview slightly. I believe that God has given humans the ability to
reason and think logically, and I use that as much as possible. I think that He intended for us to use our
minds to find what we believe to be true, hoping that people would seek God when seeing that He is
the only real truth. Cosgrove (2006) makes a great comment on secular humanism and a person s
ability to find value, and in

As the use of aircraft in the transportation of mail started to increase, the railroads began to worry about their longstanding government contracts, and how aviation would infringe upon them. Using airplanes was extremely cost effective, and their use could not be denied. In order to appease both sides the Postmaster, Harry S. New, and Congressman, Clyde Kelly, collaborated to create a legislative bill in 1925 that increased the use of aircraft but made the airline companies pay for it by requiring the use of larger airplanes that could transport passengers in addition to the mail. Ten company s bids for the 12 contract airmail (CAM) routes established throughout the United States. These companies included, Colonial Air Transport founded by Juan Trippe, whom later founded Pan American Airways, Robertson Aircraft Corporation the forerunner to American Airlines, National Air Transport that later became United Airlines, and several others that would become well known airlines of today. • 5. Essay on Cats Do NOT Cause Bad Luck What is superstition? According to The Little Oxford Dictionary, superstition is belief in the existence or power of the supernatural; irrational fear of the unknown; a religion or practice based on such tendencies; widely held but wrong idea. Let us examine that definition in depth. First, there is belief in the existence or power of the supernatural . Some examples of common, everyday superstition include the belief that the number 13 is unlucky, that walking under a ladder will bring bad luck, and that a black cat crossing your path can affect your luck. Belief that black cats affect your luck goes far back in time. One king of England, Charles I, owned a black cat. His fear of losing it was so great that he had it guarded. The day after it fell ill and died, he was arrested. Black cats were often witches in disguise or witches familiars. There were also many cat charms relating to ships and the sea. Fishermen s wives would keep a black cat at home to prevent disaster at sea, consequently the cats became very valuable and were often stolen. If a cat ran ahead of a sailor to the pier that would bring good luck, but if the cat crossed his path it means bad luck. For luck, cats were often kept on board ships. If a sailor was approached by the ship s cat it meant good luck, but if the cat only came halfway and went away again it meant bad luck. The worst possible cat related act, guaranteed to raise a storm and bring bad luck of all sorts, was to throw the cat overboard. Cat superstitions were also common in medicine. Fur and blood drawn from various parts of the cat s anatomy cured everything from shingles to St. Anthony s Fire. All of these superstitions today boil down to Black cats cause bad luck. In his 1941 oil on canvas painting, Bust of a Woman (Dora Maar), Picasso looked to his muse once again for inspiration. Neither one of Picasso s most famous, nor best paintings, Bust of a Woman still tells a story of the time and place of a tumultuous artist muse relationship encapsulated by Picasso s surrealist expression in Nazi occupied France during World War II. On its face, Bust of a Woman appears secular Dora Maar is not obviously representative of any sort of entity. However, Picasso did place her on a pedestal for a time and I wonder if he intentionally back lit her, painting the light around her head and hair to depict a light aura or halo effect (Picasso). The light is different, the lines along the outside of the hand are not crisp and it even appears as if the paint is running a bit something that such a deliberate artist would seem to notice (Picasso). The movie showed the kind of training schools they were in, the armor used, and the styles of fighting that they practiced to prepare these men, as they did hundreds of years ago in Rome. Finally, there were the lightly armed gladiators, they had little to no armor, but had the ability to move more freely when fighting. The armor used during their practices was wooden swords and shields instead of real equipment, for the protection of the gladiators, the soldiers, and trainers who worked there. When it was time for a match the gladiators would use real swords, shields, and sometimes armor to battle (Types of Gladiators). The gladiators also were used to represent strong gods by the way they were dressed and the weapons they used. For instance, there were unusual weapons, such as a trident, used by the god Neptune, and the use of a net to follow the water god theme (Retiarri). Unlike in actual gladiator schools, in the movie, it did not seem to have the men separated by their specialty but they all train together. Spartacus, and the other gladiators did train using wooden swords and shields. There was a scene were Spartacus had to actually fight till the death with another gladiator from the school, because some wealthy government men and their wives came to Ludi Gladiatorium and wanted to see a fight. The ACECA replaced the prevention of corruption Act, 1956. ACECA is the key statute in the fight against corruption and is complimented by the public office ethics Act. Past reforms on public expenditure management have not worked well as the executive arm of the government has consistently failed to act on various recommendations of the watchdog institutions on the mismanagement of public funds. Similarly, the stated war against corruption, which is rampant in the public expenditure management, is yet to be won mainly due to legal technicalities encountered in trying to establish an effective and independent anti corruption authority. There is therefore need for a thorough examination of the fiscal systems with a view to formulating pragmatic remedial measures (Baumol, 2003). Strengths Difficulties During the process of working on the group assignment and presentation, it is observed that the team has shown some good features of teamworking, which helped us to finish the groupwork task in a higher quality and efficiency. These features might include: Schedule Planning and Management. One of the good points for the team is to process the work schedule with flexibility and conscientiousness. For instance, before taking the first group meeting, the team members had shared class and working timetables so that the team could find the meeting time that all team members are available and ensure the quality of meeting. Moreover, when booking the room at meeting time, the team will book rooms for two more hours in case that the problem might not be solved in the scheduled meeting time, which provides high flexibility for the team. Information Share Analysis. Another good point for the team is to share the information and make analysis for multiple parts. Instead of fully distributing assignment parts to each member, the team shared all the cases as well as articles found to one independent folder, then thoroughly discussed the possibility to apply these cases in different parts. [A hangover] is when you wake up after probably one of the best nights of your life, but you feel like a bag of poop and recently got run over by a train, nursing student Laura Gurke at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh said. For years many have tried to determine what exactly constitutes a hangover, but there are theories that it is caused from dehydration to not eating enough before drinking. The identity of many Americans is also developed by their actions. Some groups develop an identity by speaking their native language, like some members of Chinatown in various American cities. Others develop their identities by the way they dress, music they listen to, and their sexual identity. We can clearly see some of the largest factors used to develop one s identity is the area in which they live in and their actions throughout their day to day life. In his essay Bilgrami says there is an outset between the subjective and objective aspects of identity. Your subjective identity is what you conceive yourself to be, whereas your objective identity is how you might be viewed independently of how you see yourself (Bilgrami 5). These definitions can easily be applied to say that Chesney only provides us an objective view of the overall group. This causes wonder as to what the subjective identity of being an American these teens may have, then bringing us to question, is it possible for an objective identity to represent the subjective identity of a person? To answer this question, we must analyze how Chesney builds this identity and use outside texts such as that of Bilgrami, The Citizen and the Terrorist by Audrey Lorde, as well as What does it mean to be an American? by Sarah Song to assist in this analysis. While emissions from the water used are low the airborne pollutants contain more than 350 kilograms of cancer causing chemicals every four months.(Kelly) Also, bitumen is one of the least efficient power sources in the world.(Rapier) The Tar Sands are dangerous for people to live near, are environmentally damaging and unsustainable and are an inefficient source of power compared to other sources available in Canada. While the Tar Sands are currently good for the canadian economy, in the long term they will cost us more than they make. They do this by showing the viewer how awful life is in the absence of freedom, the constant abuse of power by authoritarian forces, and the elimination of love. The film 1984, directed by Michael Radford, is based on the highly acclaimed novel, 1984, written by George Orwell. The film follows the life of a man called Winston living in a dystopian society. Many peoples worldviews are mainly concerned with materialistic things because there is no supernatural being; it is merely an arrangement of particles. What makes the difference is what a person truly believes in at the end. Whether someone believes in a materialistic universe or the illusion of the universe that leads to a God filled life decides how he or she lives his or her life. Personally, I believe all that matters in the end is God and my faith in Him. The question of how I know what I know is a question that is one of the most difficult I have encountered. Much of what I know is based on logic and thinking. This is where I may veer off of the Christian Worldview slightly. I believe that God has given humans the ability to reason and think logically, and I use that as much as possible.
