Weather In Purple Hibiscus
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie s novel, Purple Hibiscus, is an unconventional coming of age novel, set
in postcolonial Nigeria. Kambili, a teenage Igbo girl, lives with her brother Jaja, mother and her
wealthy, religious zealot father, who abuses the family in the name of Catholicism. Kambili sees her
life as the norm, however her paradigm completely changes when she and Jaja go to spend a week at
her Aunty Ifeoma s house; and the freedom they experience creates a staggering rift within their
family. It addresses various themes and motifs, including religion, domestic abuse, silence, and
political strife. However, one of the more underrated themes in the book is the imagery of nature; the
text is littered with vivid imagery and analogies connecting the characters with this theme. Weather is
one aspect of nature that becomes prevalent, and gives the events in the book a deeper and more subtle
meaning that goes missed by most. Adichie uses the weather as a symbolic undertone to illustrate the
emotional shift of Kambili between her life in Engu and her newfound freedom in Nsukka. Weather is
a symbol of nature that is the most blatant reflection of the Achikes lives, and yet is the most subtle in
illustrating how it evolves. The second chapter of the book opens with a normal day in the life of
Kambili: she is doing her homework when Mama comes into her room, with Kambili s uniforms in
hand, fresh off of the clothesline outside. Kambili is confused, because cleaning Kambili

Young Adults Should Be Required To Stay In High School
Kareem Abdul Jabbar once stated, high school dropouts are forfeiting their opportunity to pursue the
American Dream. He states that by adolescents not receiving a full high school education, it would
ruin the chances of living the American Dream. Young adults should be required to stay in school until
they are eighteen. Staying in school until eighteen helps with financial benefits, having a higher
chance at success, and refute the belief that dropping out may help with struggling families or not
putting faculty or other teens at risk. Specifically, staying in school benefits financial income.
Raising the dropout age encourages having a higher income. For example, according to the U.S.
Department of Education, a high school graduation diploma earns about $27,380 a year, whereas a
high school drop out only earns about $19,000 a year (source 3). The data demonstrates that having a
full education allows students to have a better income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The letter from Marissa to her grandmother, it states, rather than spend the day getting to school and
back and feeling helpless, I decided to step up and look for a job to really help at home (source 1). On
the other hand, even if the teen decided to get a full time job, the income would not be very high. Also,
some kids might not be interested in having a full education and may do more harm than good at the
school. The talk show states, ...and you know, forcing students to stay in school when they don t want
to be there can cause problems for teachers and other adolescents as well (source 4). Although raising
the age risks other faculty and young adults, others would suggest that not staying in school leads to a
better chance of ending up in prison. All in all, staying in school helps with higher income, better

a. Agreement or promise theory
Gerald Fridman contends that the primary purpose of contract law is to enforce the agreement of the
parties. Agreement is the central element in determining whether there is a contract. Also, the
existence of a contract requires the parties voluntarily intend to be bound by the agreement. In
interpreting contracts, courts are primarily trying to carry out the intent of the contractual parties;
therefore, when one party frustrates the intentions of the other party, a breach occurs.
Charles Fried asserts that enforcing promises is the main purpose of contract law. One initiates a
contract by invoking the practice of promising, and the other party can reasonably trust him or she will
perform as promised in the future. If one fails to fulfill the promises, he or she then damages or ruins
the trust, and exhibits disrespect for the other party. This behavior is morally wrong and condemned
by the society. To enforce promises, the social practice of promising should be supplemented with
additional rules or standards. The role of contract law is to provide rules and standards to further that
purposes. When the promise principle under Fried s theory does not provide a ground for relief, other
contract law principles may still fill the gap. For example, the principle of benefit requires
compensating others for non gift benefits received from them. Additionally, contract law also enforces
promise by awarding expectation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once a condition is triggered, the code will run automatically without any interference, which means
agreements or promises could be fulfilled unconditionally. However, unlike contract law with
underlying principles or doctrines filling the gap of legal prose to enforce agreements or promises,
smart contracts lack such underlying unifying principles to satisfy the

The New York Yankees, It Can Destroy Your Future
The past should be left in the past, otherwise it can destroy your future. These are wonderful words
which we should all strive to live by. But letting go of a regrettable past is difficult for even the
strongest among us. For members of the 1960 New York Yankees, the World Series of that year is still
the most disappointing memory any of them can recall. And while vivid mental pictures of a bad hop
grounder hitting shortstop Tony Kubek in the throat, the Clemente chop, which landed between two
undecided fielders and the unforgettable sight of Yogi, his back to the camera, watching helplessly as
Bill Mazeroski s homerun sails over the left field wall, are all etched in the mind of everyone who
witnessed these mind boggling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many choices that were made have never been justified, leading to questions that have never been
answered. Nevertheless, much of what went wrong in that seven game series for the New Yorkers can
be chalked up to chance. However, in retrospect, it is quite evident that with sound decision making
and fundamental baseball strategy, many of the unfortunate things that took place could have been
avoided. The Yankees should have never been put in a such a position, their backs to the wall in a
seventh game. The team was far too talented for that to have happened. And it is with the same
staunch belief that I place much of the blame at the feet of manager Casey Stengel, not in a way to
attack his character, but to question his astuteness as a team leader at that point in his career. Of all of
the questionable choices he made in the 1960 Fall Classic, it was the use of his pitching staff for
which Stengel is still most heavily criticized. His most questionable moves relate to the pitchers he
selected as well as the timing and sequence in which he used them, the most glaring being his choice
of starting pitcher for game one. Picking the game one starter is one of the most crucial decisions a
World Series manager will make. The first game pitcher will not only set the tone for the remainder of
the series, but should the series reach a seventh game, the number one starter in the rotation will be
available to work games four and seven as well. And while Art Ditmar

Religious Diversity
Since their establishments, many universities in the United States of America, as well as elsewhere in
the world, have grown the diversity of their student populations in more than several aspects including
religious diversity. Albeit presented obstacles, this growth represents values of tolerance and freedom
that Americans have generally come to hold in high regard. If one considers narrower communities, a
collegiate institution such as the University of Southern California (USC) boasts its diversity through
admittance of students from countries all over the world; in fact, it holds more international students
than any other private university in the United States. With countless cultures mixed in one place,
USC has a religious diversity that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the University of Southern California, as well as greater Los Angeles area, a larger part of the
population participates in some aspect of religious congregational life, whether that be shown by
attending mass at the Caruso Catholic Center or going to Sunday church service at Jefferson Church
down the street. In fact, there are currently over 60 religious congregations located within the USC
Defined Neighborhood Outreach Boundary, as well as many campus oriented student organizations
such as Hillel and the LDS (Mormon) Institute of Religion ( Religious Congregations Near USC ).
With such availability of and access to various religious backgrounds, students are naturally exposed
to something outside their own perspectives that is educationally valuable. However, the University of
Southern California as an institution surpasses sole religious diversity and certainly pushes for
pluralism because it is intentional about bringing people from different backgrounds together to build

A tale of a self destructing man and his quest for redemption, it s the story of Disgrace. In the story we
see the protagonist, David Lurie, face multiple power struggles; struggles in his family life, his work
life, his private life and his sex life. Lurie s lack of self control with his sexual desires brings him the
biggest tribulation and center arc of the story, when his choice to have a sexual affair with a student
Melanie Isaacs jeopardizes his career. Lurie does not realize the significance in his affair until his
daughter Lucy Lurie s tragedy s gives him a realization. As Lurie tries to escape from his personal
problems, finding comfort in bonding with his daughter, he becomes entrapped into his own issues,

nothing. I did nothing to save you. (Coetzee, pg157) With Lurie s subconscious raging, he begins to
feel extremely guilty. It is at this moment his eyes start to open and he realizes the chaos he has
caused. As Lucy Lurie starts to drift away more and more, Lurie doesn t agree with Lucy Lurie s
choices as she didn t agree with his choices in the beginning of the story. This is an example of the
secular nature of the story. Lucy Lurie who was once considered mentally present and strong willed, is
now aloof and emotionally distant. Lurie who was once unaccountable and kept the consequences of
his choices at arms lengthen, has now become present in his misgiving and is seeking redemption.

Root Cause Analysis In Healthcare Organization
A root cause analysis (RCA), an organized protocol or procedure, institutes a means of analyzing a
sentinel or adverse event that occurs within a healthcare facility, ultimately uncovering causes of
problems or errors. U.S. hospitals are required to keep confidential records within the facility of
adverse reactions, yet RCAs are mandated to accompany a reported sentinel event to the accreditation
organization, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and other
organizations (AHRQ 2014). Various members from all aspects of the hospital form a
multidisciplinary team to analyze, evaluate, and resolve errors with the goal of prevention of future
adverse, sentinel events. A RCA allows for concentration on events and underlying problems that
contributed to the incident rather than focusing on individual actions and behaviors (AHRQ 2012).

Imperialism Vs Ww1
Imperialism Imperialism was a big thing a long time ago. Imperialism is when a country takes over
another country using military force. Almost all countries in Europe like Britain, Germany France,
Spain, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, and Netherlands during the imperialism fase were involved with
taking over other countries. The main target for a lot of the countries was African countries. The
wanted Africa because they were an easy target and the had lots of resources like rubber, oils, and
many different metals. The European countries ended taking almost all of africa but they all wanted
more so the ended equally dividing up the land and if they wanted it they could fight each other for it
which they ended up doing. Asian countries also fought for land like Japan and the boxer rebellion.

Oppression Of Social Class During The Medieval Ages
The hierarchical system of social classification used during the medieval periods, generated
considerable class tensions between people of more privileged status and those with lesser. Some
peasants, townspeople, women, and university students all campaigned through diverse methodology
to challenge the authorities that governed them. The dualistic society the medieval culture was based
on formed the tensions within society. Specifically, good versus evil, rich versus poor, man versus
woman, civilized versus uncivilized, and master versus slave. The ruling nobility and church officials
used intimidating means of violence, aggression, and coercion to dominate the perceived lower
classes. To contest oppression, the groups associated with commonality challenged the ruling classes
to have the opportunity to influence and assert authority within their own lives. Specifically, people of
common class status utilized violence, rebellion, and dissidence to combat persecution from the elite
groups. This paper will argue the townspeople, peasants, women, and university students, strived for
upward social mobility within their political class system, by challenging the sociological and
theological contracts of their respective eras. . The ethics and morals of the men constructing medieval
society laws were heavily based within church doctrine. The difference in class structure in medieval
society were formalized by the privileged authorities ideals and values. The methods

Lion King and Hamlet
Similarities and Differences Between The Lion King and Hamlet
As innocent and young the Disney movie The Lion King may seem, it is, indeed, loosely based off of
the renowned Shakespeare play Hamlet . It would seem strange to the typical audiences of each, but
when looked at closer, it is seen that they are actually related underneath the youthful, animated
surface of The Lion King.
One of the main aspects that connects The Lion King and Hamlet is the characters. Simba and Hamlet
are both princes of their kingdoms. Hamlet, a man, and Simba, a lion cub, are in the same situation
which is coping with and avenging their fathers deaths. Hamlet goes crazy and creates a whole plan of
revenge but Simba simply runs from the problem altogether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An enormous range of people was reached between these two works of literature.
The fact that animals were used in The Lion King is almost ironic. This is true because not only were
the characters in The Lion King more civil, but the people in Hamlet acted more like animals
territorial, aggressive, immature, and thoughtless. The irony in The Lion King continues with a line
from Pumbaa, All this time I thought that all of the sparkly dots in the sky were big balls of burning
gas billions of miles away. Rafiki, the baboon that acts almost as Simba s conscience, calls Simba a
baboon because he won t go back to his pride.
Another similarity between the two is the sighting of the father s ghost. Simba sees it and it serves as
his revelation moment before he returns to his pride. For Hamlet, his father s ghost is his cue to
avenge Hamlet Sr. s death. The word wind is used several times throughout Hamlet and it is also used
in one of Simba s lines before he sees Mufassa s ghost.
The end of Hamlet is completely different from that of The Lion King. As most Disney movies go,
there is a happy ending and all is well after justice is served. Shakespeare takes a different position. At
the end of Hamlet, almost everyone dies. The only survivor is Marcellus, the extremely faithful and
supportive best friend of Hamlet through the entire play. However, at the end of The Lion King, Zazu
who was held captive by Scar and the hyenas is set free. Scar is the only one

Seven! shouted the teacher. Or did he shout Four ? I shrank down in my seat. Math class was an
absolute nightmare. The teacher scared me so much that my hands got sweaty, and my fingers slipped
on the abacus1 beads. I was in the second grade when I discovered that I suffered from abacus anxiety.
The trouble was that I was going to a school where the teacher spoke a different dialect. I grew up
with Mandarin, the dialect spoken by the majority of the Chinese. When the eastern part of China was
occupied by the Japanese, our family moved inland, to a region where I could barely understand the
local dialect. Writing was pretty much the same in any dialect, so in language and history classes I
didn t have trouble with what was on the blackboard. My problems started in the math class, where we
had to learn the abacus. Before the days of the calculator, the abacus was the main tool for adding and
multiplying. It still is, in many parts of China (as well as in countries like Japan and Russia). The

Effects Of Smoking On Children s Health
Smoking causes serious damage to person s health. This section look at the cost smoking have on
government, most notably, the cost of smoking to the NHS such as prescription costs and the cost of
the stop smoking campaigns which puts an substantial deficit for the NHS budget. A report published
by Health Social Care Information Centre revealed that the illness and disease associated with
smoking gives rise to costs in the NHS (Eastwood, P Head, S 2013). The costs of smoking can be
categorised into direct and indirect. The direct costs of smoking is the cost of smoking arise from GP
consultations, prescriptions for drugs and various costs related to treating diseases attributed to
smoking. The indirect cost of smoking would be the psychological impact of smoking in children and
other family members, the effect of smoking in employment and social exclusion and isolated
resulting from smoking. Research carried out by Oxford University (2009) estimated that smoking
costs of NHS in UK was £5.2 billion in 2005 which was approximately 5.5% of the total healthcare
costs. It is important to consider that this cost does not take into account the costs related to working
days lost or social security ill health payments and most importantly the cost related to effects of
second hand smoking.
There are three main pharmacotherapies prescribed for the treatment of smoking dependence in UK,
which are Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), Bupropion (Zyban) and Varenicline (Champix). The

The Western nations were forced to acknowledge the migrant crisis and were susceptible to provide

Acne can be divided into blackheads/whiteheads and red bumps.
The face and shoulders usually experience whiteheads and blackheads more than pus filled red bumps.

The Pros And Cons Of Counselling
Counselling is a form of conversational therapy to help individuals with psychosocial difficulties that
are unlikely to benefit from prescribed medication (Changing opinion on value of counselling, 2001).
Counselling occurs between a trained professional known as a counsellor and an individual in distress,
which is the client (Sibbald B et al, 1996). Counselling is a method of identifying practical solutions to
assist to help resolve an individual s problem. During the counselling session, the client speaks about
his or her inner emotions, thoughts and feelings (Corey G, 1995). Counsellors play various roles and
use various styles, but what they have in common is an intention to let the client speak more, while
they speak less and listen more. Thereby, a counsellor s first task is to determine what the issues are
for the client and how the client tends to view them (Lord W, 1993). The client may not be in an
agreement with the current situation they are in to see what the issue actually is. ... Show more content

Therefore, it was challenging to maintain a non judgmental attitude towards the client to show genuine
interest in helping the client. I then had to give Miss Aida suggestions in order for me to observe her
thoughts and body language on it. Active listening and non judgmental acceptance quality towards the
client was needed to be placed. A counselor needs to assure the client to make a wise decision. Miss
Aida then seemed to realize her current situation and then found a solution for her current situation.
Overall Miss Aida needed some guidance and moral support to approach her manager to make
changes for her current situation. I believe I had guided her through that throughout counselling

Cold War Effects On America
Cold War:
Cold War can be characterized as the political and the military pressure between the two super powers
USA and USSR, Western and the Eastern coalition separately. They never went to coordinate war with
one another yet they discovered options available to satisfy their cold war plans. It helped in the
development of Asian American groups in United States of America. Proxy wars turned into the way
to this advancement. Southeast Asian Americans were effected by these intermediary wars in a
positive way. Immigration and naturalization was attained by Southeast Asian America groups with
the assistance of proxy wars. Three intermediary wars basically made an impact on the waves of

Large number of people were processed for immigration over there. Most of the people didn t spent

to the large number of immigrants to be immigrated. Despite of the given name, Angel Island was
different from Ellis Island. On one side, Ellis Island processed large number of immigrants and
welcomed them in the states immediately, while Angel Island on other side didn t welcomed many
immigrants, especially, Chinese immigrants. This is because of the implementation of The Chinese
Exclusion Act in 1882 and its periodical updating till 1943, which lead to hamper the entry of Chinese
Immigrants to the United States. The large number of Chinese coming for the gold rush in America
were restricted by the immigration officers at Angel Island. Immigration authorities confined recently

Bibliography: 16 Introduction Social media campaigns provide an insight into the competitive market
to improve the communication and the brand identity of an organisation (Keller, 2014). In the case of
the tourism industry, social media like Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter help firms to expand their
brand reach by building a relationship with customers through an open conversation process
(Ammerman, 2015). A social media campaign helps the tourism industry to achieve more customer
satisfaction and loyalty. Considering the words of Ramaseshan and Stein (2014), it is essential for a
social media campaign to select a suitable social media platform for engaging the customers with the
right choice of messages. Therefore, a tactical plan for a social media campaign is going to be
developed for Shropshire Hills Tourism, UK. The tactical plan attempts to create potential leads by
developing a photography competition campaign on Facebook. 1.0 SMART objective Specific

Illegal Vehicle Abuse Research Paper
This incident happened in the City of Auburn, County of King, Washington.
On 3 3 3016 at about 1830 hrs I was westbound on SE 312th ST near the intersection of 112th ST SE,
when I was alerted, via my in car automated license plate reader system (ALPR), to a possible stolen
vehicle. The ALPR indicated the vehicle, WA/AUY8263 had just passed my vehicle heading
eastbound toward 124th ST
SE.
I advised dispatch, via radio, of the plate and dispatch advised the vehicle was a reported stolen
vehicle through Kent PD, OCA 16 4607. Dispatch later confirmed the vehicle as stolen with Kent PD.
By the time I turn my vehicle around, I noticed the vehicle making a right turn from SE 312th ST to

As the passenger exited the vehicle I ordered him to the ground. The male complied and I placed him
into handcuffs, per my training. I advised the male of his Miranda Rights, to which he stated he was a
juvenile. I then advised him of the additional warnings to a juvenile. The male stated that he
understood his rights and that he would speak with police.
The male initially stated that his name was Dezmon Ah Siu 3 21 00. However, later he stated that he
had lied and that his name was actually Jerome Ah Sui. After a check through WACIC/NCIC, it was
found that he had a no bail juvenile misdemeanor warrant for Youth at Risk. Post Miranda, Officer
Minkler spoke with
Jerome and he stated that he knew the vehicle was stolen. Furthermore, Jerome stated he knew who
stole the vehicle, but did not disclose the information. See
Officer Minkler s supplemental report for further information and her contact with
Jerome.

The Problem Of Illegal Immigrants
Donald Trump wrongly says the number of illegal immigrants is 30 million or higher Donald Trump
made several claims recently that the population of illegal immigrants in the U.S. has risen to thirty
million or more. He claimed that the government had no grasp on the population of illegal immigrants,
and that he s seen those estimates in several papers and other sources. The Department of Homeland
Security disagreed, saying that their calculations of illegal immigrants took a lot of factors into
account. Even with a plus or minus one million margin, there was no way possible for the number of
illegal immigrants to have tripled without them knowing. Several other major research organizations
agreed, saying they also came up with estimates very close to the eleven million estimate given. No
one is really sure where exactly Trump got these outrageous and wildly inaccurate claims, but they are
almost certain that he is incorrect. I think Trump will always be a racist figurehead, constantly
spewing misinformation because he knows the general public will eat it up. He spent some time in
probably what is mostly a white supremacist Texas town, and suddenly came back with unfounded
overestimates of the population of illegal immigrants. This does not surprise me, nor should it surprise
anyone else.

A Comprehensive Analysis of the Rwandan Genocide to the...
Beginning on April 6, 1994, Hutus began a mass slaughtering of the Tutsis in the African country of
Rwanda. This mass slaughtering is labeled as genocide, the deliberate obliteration of an ethnic, racial,
religious, or political group. The Rwandan genocide lasted 100 days while other countries stood idly
by and watched the brutal killings continue. The hatred against the Tutsis began after the RPF invasion
in October of 1990. Accusations from editorials and radio broadcasts claimed Tutsis wanted to
establish a monarchy with Hutu slaves; other racial libel included all the Tutsis being called
cockroaches.
Many years prior to the Rwandan genocide, a similar deliberate extinction occurred. Between 1933
and 1945, members of the Nazi ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
George Stanton, the president of Genocide Watch, suggested genocide develops in eight stages that are
predictable but not inexorable (Mare, 2011). Stage one is classification where people are alienated into
us and them depending on ethnicity, nationality, race, and religion; in this case, German and Jew, Hutu
and Tutsi depict the mentality of the superior group. According to Mare, The main preventive measure
at this early stage is to develop universalistic institutions that transcend ethnic or racial divisions, that
actively promote tolerance and understanding, and that promote classifications that transcend the
divisions (2011).
Symbolization, the second stage, is used to classify these groups; names or symbols may be forced
upon reluctant members of the groups. For example, the Nazis used the yellow star to symbolize the
Jews; this symbol was worn on clothing or imprinted on Jewish establishments. A preventive measure
used to combat the symbolization is to outlaw hate symbols along with hate speech.
The next includes dehumanization, where one group establishes their superiority and rejects the
humanity of an additional group. Animals, insects, or diseases are normally equated with members of
the dehumanized group; case in point, the Hutus equated the Tutsis with cockroaches during the

There are numerous differences that are revealed between the characters of Miss Sheila Birling and

Mr. Birling starts on another speech around the dinner table, he starts to talk about the engagement of
his daughter and Gerald and how wonderful it is but he soon changes the theme of the speech to his
own beliefs and knowledge of the whole world, showing how egotistical he is. When Mr.Birlings
starts rambling on about war and how it is inevitable, the irony is shown to the audience. An Inspector
Calls is set in 1912, before the First World War, and was written in 1945.
The Audience is very well informed of Mr. Birling s visions of the future and so when he says how
war is inevitable, when it has already happened; twice, the irony is clear to the audience. This lets the
audience make an informed decision on the way they feel about Mr.
Birling, which would probably be that he is a self indulged man that only worries about his reputation
and business.
Mr. Birling is publicly conscious of himself; he is obsessed with his social status and is always
looking to climb the social ladder. Mr.
Birling is trying to impress Gerald;
But what I wanted to say is there s a fair chance that I might find my way into the next honors list. Just
a Knighthood of course
This quote shows the audience exactly what Birling is like. All Mr.
Birling wanted to say to Gerald was that he was going to achieve a
Knighthood, simply to impress Gerald and Lady Croft, therefore increasing the chance

Police Case Study Essay
There are several key factors that the police overlooked that could have caused this case to end sooner.
The first being that so many people died under his care. In my opinion if most of the individuals who
are seen in your practice end up dead I m not going to keep coming to you. Obviously, you re not a
good doctor. I know people that have been going to the same doctor for 20 years, especially older
people and these patients were all to have supposedly died of a heart attacks. (Gunn, 2010). In 1998 a
neighboring General Practitioner reported a high number of cremation forms that she was asked to
cosign on. The police did not take her seriously. If this had been checked the case could have probably

Maybe a simple question of why could have led them in the right path. Early in his career a judge
reinstated him into practice after he fought some mental health problems on the condition that he
would continue to seek help and care for his condition. This was never followed up on, if it had been
they might have figured out he still had a problem. Lastly, in the hospitals, doctor s offices, and
pharmacies I ve been to there is a record of drugs being uses and who is prescribing them. They also
record how much is given and are routinely audited and checked to make sure that records are up to
date. If just one of the previously stated incidences would have been looked into this evidence could
have been found and many lives could have been saved. Or just one comparison to the cause of death
and a look at medical records could have led to a break in this case. The medical records or lack
thereof would have been enough to convict Dr. Shipman or at least get him suspended or fined. There
are some explanations that could have been given for some of these but the amount of deaths and
incorrectly filled out medical records would have been enough reason for

Biological Weapons And Chemical Weapons
Abstract
Biochemical weapons distribute deadly toxins and microorganisms, such as viruses and bacteria, with
the intent too inflict disease among humans, animals, and agriculture. Biochemical attacks could in
fact result in destruction of food plots, temporarily upsetting a small community, and killing large
amounts of people, or more outcomes. The way that a biochemical weapon is dispersed depends on
many factors. Such as: the agent itself; the preparation; its durability; and route of infection. most
agents can be spread as an aerosol, which means the agent can be inhaled or can infect a susceptible
place on the skin, like a cut or wound. Attackers can also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They supposedly spread the bubonic plague in St. Petersburg, Russia, infected mules with Glanders
disease in Mesopotamia, and attempted to do the same with the horses of the French Cavalry. The
allied forces even experimented with chemical weapons during World War 1, with agents such as
mustard gas. Mustard gas is a substance that, when inhaled causes the victim to asphyxiate and perish.
When the substance makes contact with the eyes it causes a burning sensation, the deadly gas can
even cause blindness if the eyes are exposed to it long enough. (Wiggins, 2009)
A large amount of countries have started or continued offensive biological weapons research and
development . as well, since the 1980s, terrorist groups have become users of biological agents due to
there high effectiveness and cheap price. Usually, these cases amount only to hoaxes. However, the
following exceptions have been noted: In 1985, Iran began an offensive biochemical weapons
program involving anthrax, Botulinum toxin, and Aflatoxin. (Schnieder, 2015) During Operation
Desert Storm, the combination of allied forces faced the threat of chemical and biological agents.
After the Persian Gulf War, Iran announced that it had bombs, Scud missiles, 122 mm rockets, and
artillery shells equipped with Botulinum toxin, anthrax, and aflatoxin. They also had mist tanks fitted
to many aircraft that could distribute

Bel Canto Opera Essay
Opera in the Romantic Period was a time when opera changed drastically, especially in the country of
Italy. The recognition of singers as being important, almost irreplaceable, in the art of bel canto opera
changed the idea of a vocalist in opera forever. A singer s voice was prized and Italian composers, like
Rossini, Donizetti, and Bellini wrote operas and works to showcase the voice, it s color, range and
agility. These Italian composers were moving away from the normal style of composition of the time,
and the composer Rossini, who set the stage for many other followers. Many of the operas written
during this time are still performed today and are highly acclaimed. For the most part, before Italy

No longer was the orchestra the main component to listen to when attending an opera. Librettists and
composers worked extremely close to get the right feel for arias and other pieces in the story. Bel
Canto was a form of singing that was pretty much defined by three Italian composers: Rossini,
Donizetti, and Bellini. These three composers had huge success in Italy and their operas are still being
performed to this day. These captivating operas like Il barbiere di Sivilglia, Lucia di lammermoor, and
Norma are three of the most popular and challenging operas that singers can be involved in. These
three composers really set the stage for the rise of Italian opera. Rossini is probably the most popular
composer of this era. His works are many and are extremely popular. Rossini was born in Pesaro in
1792 and on December15th, 1815 when he was only twenty three years old, he signed a contract to
write an opera for a theater in Rome (Weaver, 11). His childhood friend, Gertrude Righetti Giorgi,
premiered as Rosina in Rossin s Il barbiere di Siviglia, on opening night for the Nobile Teatro di Torre
Argentina (Weaver, 19). Il barbiere di Siviglia went on to become one of the more famous operas of
Rossini s. This opera went through many struggles, however, because of the similar story

Beatrice and Benedick as a Couple in William Shakespeare s Much Ado About Nothing
Much Ado About Nothing is a Shakespeare play set in Mecina. It is a comedy, about Don Pedro and
his friends. The play focuses on the relationships of the characters, especially that of
Beatrice/Benedick and Claudio/Hero. The two romances follow two different ideas, one an average
romance in Shakespeare s day, the other a not so average romance. Beatrice and Benedick s history
together is made clear from the start, when Beatrice tells the messenger bringing news of Benedick s
return, that he is no less than a stuffed man , implying that he is very full of himself. This shows right

This all happens in the first scene, so their relationship is established from the beginning.
Hero and Claudio s relationship gets established near the beginning as well. However, this one is
much more simple. Claudio comments on how the world cannot buy a jewel as great as Hero, and
after Don Pedro woos her for him they are set to get married, without any serious problems.
The two main relationships the play focuses on are now set, and the two audiences have different
views on them. For an audience today to see Hero and Claudio decide to get married so simply would
be boring. However, a Shakespearian audience would see this relationship as ordinary, and not be
bothered that it was so simple. Although Beatrice and Benedick are not yet shown as in love, a
Shakespearian audience would not have thought it usual for a woman like Beatrice to be speaking as
she was about Benedick. However, today it is perfectly normal for Beatrice to be talking like she is, so
at the moment, the two relationships are more satisfying to the different audiences.
Beatrice and Benedick s relationship has another problem. They both like to use their wit and
intelligence to try and outsmart people, and mainly themselves. Because of this they are constantly
going to be trying to outsmart the other, and this

  • 2. Weather In Purple Hibiscus Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie s novel, Purple Hibiscus, is an unconventional coming of age novel, set in postcolonial Nigeria. Kambili, a teenage Igbo girl, lives with her brother Jaja, mother and her wealthy, religious zealot father, who abuses the family in the name of Catholicism. Kambili sees her life as the norm, however her paradigm completely changes when she and Jaja go to spend a week at her Aunty Ifeoma s house; and the freedom they experience creates a staggering rift within their family. It addresses various themes and motifs, including religion, domestic abuse, silence, and political strife. However, one of the more underrated themes in the book is the imagery of nature; the text is littered with vivid imagery and analogies connecting the characters with this theme. Weather is one aspect of nature that becomes prevalent, and gives the events in the book a deeper and more subtle meaning that goes missed by most. Adichie uses the weather as a symbolic undertone to illustrate the emotional shift of Kambili between her life in Engu and her newfound freedom in Nsukka. Weather is a symbol of nature that is the most blatant reflection of the Achikes lives, and yet is the most subtle in illustrating how it evolves. The second chapter of the book opens with a normal day in the life of Kambili: she is doing her homework when Mama comes into her room, with Kambili s uniforms in hand, fresh off of the clothesline outside. Kambili is confused, because cleaning Kambili ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Young Adults Should Be Required To Stay In High School Kareem Abdul Jabbar once stated, high school dropouts are forfeiting their opportunity to pursue the American Dream. He states that by adolescents not receiving a full high school education, it would ruin the chances of living the American Dream. Young adults should be required to stay in school until they are eighteen. Staying in school until eighteen helps with financial benefits, having a higher chance at success, and refute the belief that dropping out may help with struggling families or not putting faculty or other teens at risk. Specifically, staying in school benefits financial income. Raising the dropout age encourages having a higher income. For example, according to the U.S. Department of Education, a high school graduation diploma earns about $27,380 a year, whereas a high school drop out only earns about $19,000 a year (source 3). The data demonstrates that having a full education allows students to have a better income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Gerald Fridman a. Agreement or promise theory Gerald Fridman contends that the primary purpose of contract law is to enforce the agreement of the parties. Agreement is the central element in determining whether there is a contract. Also, the existence of a contract requires the parties voluntarily intend to be bound by the agreement. In interpreting contracts, courts are primarily trying to carry out the intent of the contractual parties; therefore, when one party frustrates the intentions of the other party, a breach occurs. Charles Fried asserts that enforcing promises is the main purpose of contract law. One initiates a contract by invoking the practice of promising, and the other party can reasonably trust him or she will perform as promised in the future. If one fails to fulfill the promises, he or she then damages or ruins the trust, and exhibits disrespect for the other party. This behavior is morally wrong and condemned by the society. To enforce promises, the social practice of promising should be supplemented with additional rules or standards. The role of contract law is to provide rules and standards to further that purposes. When the promise principle under Fried s theory does not provide a ground for relief, other contract law principles may still fill the gap. For example, the principle of benefit requires compensating others for non gift benefits received from them. Additionally, contract law also enforces promise by awarding expectation ... • 5. The New York Yankees, It Can Destroy Your Future The past should be left in the past, otherwise it can destroy your future. These are wonderful words which we should all strive to live by. But letting go of a regrettable past is difficult for even the strongest among us. For members of the 1960 New York Yankees, the World Series of that year is still the most disappointing memory any of them can recall. And while vivid mental pictures of a bad hop grounder hitting shortstop Tony Kubek in the throat, the Clemente chop, which landed between two undecided fielders and the unforgettable sight of Yogi, his back to the camera, watching helplessly as Bill Mazeroski s homerun sails over the left field wall, are all etched in the mind of everyone who witnessed these mind boggling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many choices that were made have never been justified, leading to questions that have never been answered. Nevertheless, much of what went wrong in that seven game series for the New Yorkers can be chalked up to chance. However, in retrospect, it is quite evident that with sound decision making and fundamental baseball strategy, many of the unfortunate things that took place could have been avoided. The Yankees should have never been put in a such a position, their backs to the wall in a seventh game. The team was far too talented for that to have happened. And it is with the same staunch belief that I place much of the blame at the feet of manager Casey Stengel, not in a way to attack his character, but to question his astuteness as a team leader at that point in his career. Of all of the questionable choices he made in the 1960 Fall Classic, it was the use of his pitching staff for which Stengel is still most heavily criticized. His most questionable moves relate to the pitchers he selected as well as the timing and sequence in which he used them, the most glaring being his choice of starting pitcher for game one. Picking the game one starter is one of the most crucial decisions a World Series manager will make. The first game pitcher will not only set the tone for the remainder of the series, but should the series reach a seventh game, the number one starter in the rotation will be available to work games four and seven as well. And while Art Ditmar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Oppression Of Social Class During The Medieval Ages The hierarchical system of social classification used during the medieval periods, generated considerable class tensions between people of more privileged status and those with lesser. Some peasants, townspeople, women, and university students all campaigned through diverse methodology to challenge the authorities that governed them. The dualistic society the medieval culture was based on formed the tensions within society. Specifically, good versus evil, rich versus poor, man versus woman, civilized versus uncivilized, and master versus slave. The ruling nobility and church officials used intimidating means of violence, aggression, and coercion to dominate the perceived lower classes. To contest oppression, the groups associated with commonality challenged the ruling classes to have the opportunity to influence and assert authority within their own lives. Specifically, people of common class status utilized violence, rebellion, and dissidence to combat persecution from the elite groups. This paper will argue the townspeople, peasants, women, and university students, strived for upward social mobility within their political class system, by challenging the sociological and theological contracts of their respective eras. . • 13. Lion King and Hamlet Similarities and Differences Between The Lion King and Hamlet As innocent and young the Disney movie The Lion King may seem, it is, indeed, loosely based off of the renowned Shakespeare play Hamlet . It would seem strange to the typical audiences of each, but when looked at closer, it is seen that they are actually related underneath the youthful, animated surface of The Lion King. One of the main aspects that connects The Lion King and Hamlet is the characters. Simba and Hamlet are both princes of their kingdoms. Hamlet, a man, and Simba, a lion cub, are in the same situation which is coping with and avenging their fathers deaths. Hamlet goes crazy and creates a whole plan of revenge but Simba simply runs from the problem altogether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An enormous range of people was reached between these two works of literature. The fact that animals were used in The Lion King is almost ironic. This is true because not only were the characters in The Lion King more civil, but the people in Hamlet acted more like animals territorial, aggressive, immature, and thoughtless. The irony in The Lion King continues with a line from Pumbaa, All this time I thought that all of the sparkly dots in the sky were big balls of burning gas billions of miles away. Rafiki, the baboon that acts almost as Simba s conscience, calls Simba a baboon because he won t go back to his pride. Another similarity between the two is the sighting of the father s ghost. Simba sees it and it serves as his revelation moment before he returns to his pride. For Hamlet, his father s ghost is his cue to avenge Hamlet Sr. s death. The word wind is used several times throughout Hamlet and it is also used in one of Simba s lines before he sees Mufassa s ghost. The end of Hamlet is completely different from that of The Lion King. As most Disney movies go, there is a happy ending and all is well after justice is served. Shakespeare takes a different position. At the end of Hamlet, almost everyone dies. The only survivor is Marcellus, the extremely faithful and supportive best friend of Hamlet through the entire play. Math class was an absolute nightmare. The teacher scared me so much that my hands got sweaty, and my fingers slipped on the abacus1 beads. I was in the second grade when I discovered that I suffered from abacus anxiety. The trouble was that I was going to a school where the teacher spoke a different dialect. I grew up with Mandarin, the dialect spoken by the majority of the Chinese. When the eastern part of China was occupied by the Japanese, our family moved inland, to a region where I could barely understand the local dialect. Writing was pretty much the same in any dialect, so in language and history classes I didn t have trouble with what was on the blackboard. My problems started in the math class, where we had to learn the abacus. Before the days of the calculator, the abacus was the main tool for adding and multiplying. It still is, in many parts of China (as well as in countries like Japan and Russia). The abacus teacher would shout out the numbers he wanted us to add or multiply. He claimed that the government had no grasp on the population of illegal immigrants, and that he s seen those estimates in several papers and other sources. The Department of Homeland Security disagreed, saying that their calculations of illegal immigrants took a lot of factors into account. George Stanton, the president of Genocide Watch, suggested genocide develops in eight stages that are predictable but not inexorable (Mare, 2011). Stage one is classification where people are alienated into us and them depending on ethnicity, nationality, race, and religion; in this case, German and Jew, Hutu and Tutsi depict the mentality of the superior group. According to Mare, The main preventive measure at this early stage is to develop universalistic institutions that transcend ethnic or racial divisions, that actively promote tolerance and understanding, and that promote classifications that transcend the divisions (2011). Symbolization, the second stage, is used to classify these groups; names or symbols may be forced upon reluctant members of the groups. For example, the Nazis used the yellow star to symbolize the Jews; this symbol was worn on clothing or imprinted on Jewish establishments. A preventive measure used to combat the symbolization is to outlaw hate symbols along with hate speech. The next includes dehumanization, where one group establishes their superiority and rejects the humanity of an additional group.
