The appearance of universities was part of the same high–medieval education boom. Originally
universities were institutions where students could attain specialized instruction in advanced studies.
These types of studies were not available in the average cathedral schools. Advanced schools existed
in the ancient world, but did not promote a fixed curricula or award degrees. The term university
originally meant a corporation of guild. All universities were corporations of students or teachers.
Guilds were originally established to protect the interests and rights of the members. The majority of
the universities practiced diverse curriculum ( a few universities did specialize in medicine or law).

This is usually done by filling out a questionnaire. At this point in time, the student has already
endured a full term of a professor. If the professor is doing a horrible or unfair job, the student is
forced to endure this without any relief. Not only does this affect the student's drive to learn, but also
his ability to learn. Having a poor professor hinders the student's learning capabilities. When this
happens, the student has usually forgotten most of what he learned by the end of the term. This
makes a total waste of time and money.
As for medieval times, the student guilds began to have enormous power during the 13th century.
Students could discharge professors that did not meet the specifications of a good professor. The
students only had to refuse to attend the classes. Professors of this time also had to pledge allegiance
to a guild. The guild would provide the professor's salary. Professors were dependent to the students
and had to receive permission from the students for any changes. Holidays and beginning and
duration time of lectures were decided by the student guilds. With the passage of time, guilds began
to structure the curriculum, and the time duration of each subject. A fine would be imposed if the

is considered as the father of the philosophy in this period, is Descartes. He was a pioneer for the

could begin a new system of philosophy which, he thought, would be a certain and firm foundation
to get knowledge. However, to build up the principles for this foundation, Descartes had to use the

Afferent neurons are sensory neurons that conduct signals toward the central nervous system (CNS)
and are specialized in sensing heat, pressure, and chemicals (Saladin, 2011). These neurons send
information about stimuli to the CNS and are located everywhere in the body but always end up in
the brain and spinal cord (Saladin, 2011). Afferent neurons also send information about internal and
external environmental factors to the CNS. (Sherwood, 2014). Efferent neurons lead to muscle cells,
and send signals away from the CNS (Saladin, 2011). These neurons send signals to effectors like
muscle and gland cells that carry out the function of the received response (Saladin, 2011). The
cerebral cortex in the forebrain has special senses and general senses (Saladin, 2011). Some of these
senses include smell, hearing, equilibrium, vision, touch, pressure, temperature, and pain. These all
