What Does It Mean To Be Holistic
Holistic is an important word that is often used in regards to health and social context, and we will
surely come across it relatively often, as it is crucial in the education arena. The definiton of holistic is
of the whole , and refers to the fact that anything and everything is the sum of its parts, not just one or
another. An example of holistic would be that the holistic view of a computer is that it is a
multifunctional electronic device, designed to be used in a variety of ways and that it is not just a
keyboard, or a motherboard, or a screen and therefore without these parts it couldnâ€TMt function.
This is also relative to children and young people as a child, for example, who is good with woodwork

It is thought therefore, that the stimulation of adults and older children communicating with them,
even though the baby cannot yet understand, it just as important as everything else done with them.
Language is part of the everyday sounds that babies listen to, even though they may not participate,
and songs can be a lovely and effective element of language that they are thought to enjoy. Around 1
year old they will start to attempt to speak, but often their pronunciation is unclearand the words are
typically used singly, by themselve, rather than in sentences. In the 12 months following , they start
bringing words together into short phrases and sentences, and as they use language more, their
vocabularly rapidly increases. Concepts such as plurals and negatives come in the next 12 months, and
sentences become better formed, although grammatical errors in speech are also likely, especially as
English is a fairly irregular language, so verbs such as eat become eaten, ad can be commonly

The Great Expectations By Charles Dickens Essay
In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Estella Havisham and Pip are a product of physical and
psychological abuse that shapes their opposing perspective in the novel. Pip understands the notion of
love through Mr. Joe and his relationships with the varying characters, while Estella remains cold and
incapable of loving anyone, including herself under the affluence of Miss Havisham. Estella was
considered the great expectation at the time because she represented the beauty and affluent ideals of
the Victorian Age. Pip on the other hand, an indigent boy who could scarcely sound out words and was
apprenticed to a blacksmith. These two distinct, yet similar worlds of Estella and Pip will leave them
longing for something more that evidently influences their perspectives of the events in the novel, the
notion for love. Estella marries into an abusive relationship at the conclusion of the novel, while Pip
experiences various losses of family and friends, forcing him to realize that human compassion is
greater than societal standing.
While under the affluence of her benefactor Miss Havisham, Estella became molded into this puppet ,
resulting from the compliant and haughty personality that Miss Havisham induced in her. Miss
Havisham used Estella as a product of vengeance to men, since she betrayed and left at the altar by
Compeyson. In the dialogue where Miss Havisham scolds Estella for having a cold heart, Estella
replies, All that you have given me, is at your command to have

The Legitimacy And Global Governance
The legitimacy and importance of institutions in global governance is a highly contested topic, among
which many question the existence of international institutions. To suggest that institutions in global
governance do not matter, is to suggest that the majority of countries have the willingness to co
operate, the ability to solve disputes and to organise themselves to ensure problems are dealt with
effectively without the pressure of an outside body which has been proven to be ineffective . This
essay will examine how institutions matter and are important in global governance, through examining
a realist views, using Waltz concepts of insecurity and global governance. It will examine how global
institutions can promote peace and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are important because in the international realm, there is always insecurity and a lack of trust
between states; they can never be certain that there are no threats from other states and therefore there
is always the risk that a war may commence. This is particularly a problem as pluralism exists among
states, therefore there are different views and aims, which inevitably cause disagreements. There is
essentially an anarchic condition, where there is no global government to enforce punishment or
control disputes and in turn there is a constant security dilemma . Institutions, such as the UN, create a
forum where different states issues can be discussed and the institution can act as a mediator to create
an appropriate response and plan, in order to deal with the issues. A prime example of how where
institutions this and may have been beneficial is World War One and World War Two, of which the
United Nations arose. This shows that states were aware of the dangers and risks of war that an
anarchic system had, and wanted an international institution to help prevent problems such as these
occurring again . Not to suggest that global institutions create world peace, but they can put pressure
on certain states, help solve arguments and controls disputes, to decrease the chances of escalation of
war. Had

Influence on College, Study Abroad Programs
Introduction This nonexperimental study is examining the influence on college, study abroad
programs and the influence on environmental citizenship, (Tarrant Lyons, 2012, p. 201) in
undergraduate college students. The literature review provided adequate background and previous
studies to support the purpose of this study. The literature review does lead to the clearly stated
research purpose of exploring the effect of previous study abroad experience, gender, and destination
on pre and post levels of environmental citizenship, before and after participation in a short
term...travel program to Australia or New Zealand (Tarrant Lyons, p. 408). There were no research
questions or hypotheses explicitly stated but can be easily inferred ... Show more content on

In regards to selection threat, there was no random selection or random assignment. Students chose to
travel and chose their destination. There is also a threat to instrumentation, as two different surveys
were used to measure student perceptions. A final threat to internal validity may be in the area of
history. Students may have different experiences during their one month abroad. Threats to validity
were minimal in regards to attrition (no indication students dropped out; but even so there was a large
number of students included in the survey), statistical regression (students not grouped by extremes or
specific characteristics), or maturation (participants to be perceived as having same physical and
mental development). Extraneous variables such as socioeconomic status, perceived study abroad
experience, previous travel experience, attitudes towards surveys, and experience with topics of
sustainability were not controlled by the researchers. There is no indication that study participants
were treated unethically.
Results
There appears to be appropriate use and calculation of t tests in areas of study abroad experience,
program destination, and gender. There was no calculation of effect sizes. The results were presented
clearly. There was no data ignored in the areas the researchers identified at the onset of the study. This
nonexperimental study with nonrandom selection is not generalizable.
Discussion

Outdoor Kitchen Advantages And Disadvantages
Outdoor kitchen design/outdoor living
Kitchens are not traditional as they used to be. New outdoor kitchen designs are emerging on a daily
basis. This has been influenced by the availability of furniture, kitchen appliances and cabinets among
others. There are many outdoor kitchens designs a person can choose from. Outdoor kitchens or
outdoor living spaces are considered entertainment spaces.
Here are some outdoor kitchen designs in 2017:
Kamado style Grills
Kitchen grills have always been the star of outdoor kitchen for a long time. Grills have evolved from
the traditional topped charcoal grills.kamado grills have gained a lot of popularity among outdoor
kitchen owners. They have can cook at extreme temperatures of up to 800 degrees. That s not all; this
grill has an air ventilation that controls everything. Kamado grills can be used for different purposes.
It can be converted as an oven. Kamado grills are going to be there for a long period.
Multiple cookers in one kitchen
This trend has been there for a while now. Outdoor kitchens give people a wide range of variety to
choose from. Outdoor kitchens have enough space to house multiple cookers. There have been a
couple of outdoor kitchen designs that emphasize on the use of several different cooking implements.
Multiple cookers save people from a lot of hassle and extra expenses. This outdoor kitchen designs
aims at helping people cook multiple meals at the same time. A person will not only save time, but
also ensure meals

Philippine Christmas
Philippine Christmas
The Philippines is known as the Land of Fiestas, and at Christmas time, this is especially true.
Filipinos are proud to proclaim their Christmas celebration to be the longest and merriest in the world.
It begins formally on December 16 with attendance at the first of nine pre dawn or early morning
masses and continues on nonstop until the first Sunday of January, Feast of the Three Kings, the
official end of the season.
The Philippines is the only Asian country where Christians predominate. Majority of its people are
Roman Catholic. Christmas, therefore, is an extremely important and revered holiday for most
Filipinos. It is a time for family, for sharing, for giving, and a time for food, fun, and friendship. ...

Some families may choose to exchange gifts at this time; others wait until Christmas day.
In general, the center of a family s Christmas gathering is always the lola, the endearing term used for
a family matriarch or grandmother, who is deeply respected, highly revered, and always present.
Filipinos remember how their lola had their children form a line and step up to receive a small gift of
some coins. The older the child, the more coins he or she receives.
Some families have a talent show during Christmas Eve celebration. Children are asked to perform.
One might sing a Christmas song, others might play a musical instrument, or others may recite a poem
or do a dance. The celebration continues until about 6 o clock in the morning. Those who cannot
attend Mass the night before will go to the morning Mass on Christmas day.
Christmas day is a popular day for children to visit their uncles, aunts, godmothers, and godfathers. At
each home they are presented with a gift, usually candy, money, or a small toy. Food and drinks are
also offered at each stop. It is a day of family closeness, and everyone wishes good cheer and glad
tidings.
Philippines celebrate Christmas like no other in the Asian nation. It is the only country that its people
are Christian. We celebrate Christmas very religiously compare celebrating in America, which is
mostly about Santa Clause and giving gifts. My country

Pineal Gland Cell Tumors
tumors are treated but if surgery is not a viable treatment radiation can also be used. Schwannomas are
most commonly non cancerous and begin in the hearing nerve. The hearing nerve can also be called
the acoustic nerve, 8th cranial nerve, or the vestibulocochlear nerve. For the most part, this type of
tumor is found in between the cerebellum and the pons at an angle. This type of tumor exhibits slow
growth as these tumors slowly grow they move nerve fibers which can cause complications.
Furthermore, they can form in any nerve that is peripheral as long as Schwann cells are present. If the
Schwannomas form in the spinal canal they can form in a dumbbell shape which can then move in or

tumors that truly come from pineal gland cells are mixed pineal tumors, pineoblastoma, and

gland cells are germinoma, non germinoma, dermoid cysts, meningiomas, astrocytomas, and
gangliogliomas. The pineal gland cells come from the pineal gland which is located at the back of the
third ventricle. A ventricle in the brain is a cavity filled with fluid. The pineal gland tumors are all

be a grade IV aggressive tumor or a grade III intermediate. There is also the mixed pineal tumors that
have unique combinations of different cell types. Symptoms associated with this type of tumor are
mainly due to the cerebrospinal fluid flow being blocked as well as eye movement being
compromised. The main symptoms are vomiting, double vision, and headaches. Pineal Region tumors
are thought to have a connection to chromosomal abnormalities and the main treatment is radiation
therapy and possibly surgery. Additionlly, to help with the diagnosis of this type of tumor many patient

Analysis Of Graduation Day By Maya Angelou
Forged by Pain In 1940, the United States approached the eightieth year anniversary of the abolition
of slavery; however, the social oppression of African American citizens steadily increased. Despite
being free for decades, they were still leagues below the white people who owned their ancestors.
African American author Maya Angelou recollects on her experience of graduation from the eighth
grade in her 1940 piece Graduation Day. The narrative not only highlights the importance of the
narrator s graduation, but also the expectations of Angelou s community due to their persecution and
separation. Perseverance through separation and persecution forges dignity in an individual. The
separation of the African American displays the importance of graduation day. Angelou was only
graduating from the eighth grade, but because of the sociocultural differences, graduation proved
momentous in their community. Angelou later states Oh, it was important, all right. White folks would
attend the ceremony, and two or three would speak of God and home, and the Southern way of life
(Angelou, 2014, p. 181). The school making a minute event into a grand celebration conveys much
about the state of the position African Americans were subjected to. Angelou displays this later when
she describes the scene of small children presented in a play about buttercups and daisies and bunny
rabbits and older girls preparing snacks and beverages. Normal society does not make such an event of

Over the past two decades, electronic games have become ingrained in our culture. Children s fixation
with these games initially alarmed parents and educators, but educational researchers soon questioned
whether the motivation to play could be tapped and harnessed for educational purposes. However,
although many claim that educational potential lies within video games, they still have not been

Chapter II Review of related Literature Summary: Online gaming has faced and still faces many
problems. The main reason for this is that the Internet was not designed for such a medium. The
Internet was designed to provide redundant points of communication, not to provide high speed arcade
action (Bates, Lag and the Game Reviewers 175). A few technological barriers stand in the way of a
vision of ideal multi player gaming over the Internet. The most significant of these technological
problems are the problems of latency and reliability. Internet latency is inevitable data transfer delays
that create lag in games, keeping an online game from running smoothly. Some also feel that because
of this lag, true interactive gaming will never be possible over the Internet. Bandwidth issues are also
a problem. Receiving data is difficult over the Internet, particularly collecting data from several
players in a multi player game. Another problem that online gamers face is finding people to play with
online. Dedicated game server sites have helped answer this problem. MPath, TEN, and BattleNet are
some such game systems whose principal mission is match making. However, some of these dedicated
game servers charge

Miriam Toews A Complicated Kindness Essay
In Miriam Toews novel A Complicated Kindness there are many references to pop culture. There are
references to music, books and films. These all lead to the development of key ideas in the novel. East
Village is supposed to be a town free form the influence of most media. The children are allowed to
watch certain films but only the ones the church deems fit. Yet somehow the un holy films find their
way into the procession of kids in the town like Nomi. The films are used to develop key ideas by
showing that not everybody is happy with a strong importance on religion, where Nomi gets some of
her influence for wanting to move to New York and how the church uses the ban on films to remain in

Showing that the films sneak their way into the culture shows the cracks in the town s commitment to
their faith.
Nomi wants to get out of the East Village in Manitoba and go to the East Village in New York
although she has never been and knows very little about it she has decided that New York is the place
for her to go. One of the films mentioned in the novel is West Side Story, which takes place in the
upper east side of New York City. This could be one of Nomi s inspirations for her desire to move to
New York. This could also add to her fascination of America overall. Nomi would often fantasize that
her father was going to Minnesota for a coffee (Toews 88) and she would go to the border and stare at
America (Toews 56). Nomi has no aspirations to move to larger city in Canada like Vancouver or
Ottawa. She has the mentality that the American dream is what she needs to be happy; a concept that
the media often likes to show. If Nomi never had access to these films it would be more likely that she
would want to venture somewhere closer to home like Winnipeg. Since Nomi only had minimal
exposure movies that portray the idea of the American dream her view on it is slightly twisted. She
doesn t know exactly what would be waiting for her in New York but she hopes that it would be her
Mother and Sister. Another movie that mentioned in the novel is The Sound Of Music, which is about
a woman who failed at being a nun and ended becoming a governess of

Art Deco Movement Essay
The art deco movement was the most fashionable and international design movement in the modern
art from1925 until the 1940s. this exemplary movement had major influences on people and some
great examples of this movement are the geometric designs on New York s famous Chrysler building
and Rockefeller Centre.
Just like arts and crafts movement and the Bauhaus movement, art deco also embraced all type of arts
inclusive of crafts and fine arts. The main purpose of this movement was to bring back the decorations
in art which were minimized by the Bauhaus movement. Art deco was mainly applied to decorative art
like interior design, furniture, architecture, graphics and so on.
The art deco style represented modernity, as it was characterized by smooth lines and geometric
shapes, streamlined forms and sometimes loud colors.

Compare And Contrast Cacti And Pigmyweed
Our biosphere was successful. Every biotic factor we added survived. Both cacti and the worms gained
weight. The moon cactus gained 5.1 grams and the zebra cactus gained 2.4 grams. The Pigmyweed
lost 1.3 grams. This means the cacti out competed the succulent. Also, surprisingly, each of the worms
gained 0.015 grams. We believed the worms ate the roots and the plants decomposed material. Both of
the cacti had noticeably larger root systems. In fact, a;; the plants were still moist because sand was

in our small desert biosphere, there was competition. Both cacti root systems were very extensive but

Public Law And Private Law
INTRODUCTION The subject of law encompasses a wide area and covers a variety of issues and
agenda. For the convenience of readers and learners of this subject, it is classified into various
categories. Civil Law and Criminal Law Public Law and Private Law Substantive Law and Procedural
Law Municipal Law and International Law The classification between Public Law and Private Law is
one of the most important classifications of law. Public Law in general terms has been defined as the
law of relations between the individual and state . Holland lays down the simplest test to determine
whether the case falls in public law or private law If one of the parties is state, the case falls in the
dimension of public law . However, with passing times and more complex issues arising, the scope of
public law is going much beyond the normal definition of state as one of the parties . The scope of
public law now also involves various other matters such as business regulation. Also, the scope of
public law varies from state to state and system to system. While a socialist economy will see private
law having a much stronger authority, this will not be the case in a capitalist or a mixed economy
state. Major components of Public Law are Constitutional Law Administrative Law Criminal Law
Private Law, on the other hand, deals with disputes between parties other than the State. The rights
violated under the ambit of the Private Law are the matter between the parties and

Theme Of Symbolism In Sea Of The Sea
The novel is rich in symbolism that enhances both the plot and the Themes. The major symbol is the
sea, which stands for all of life on which man must sail. In both the sea and in life, there are a number
of possibilities that lie hidden from the common eye; some are gifts to be treasured and some are
problems to be defeated. Neither will be found unless man embarks upon the journey. If man is lucky
enough to discover a treasure (be it love or family or education), he must fight until death to retain it;
if man is unlucky enough to discover an evil lurking underneath the surface of the sea (any one of life
s varied problems), he must fight it bravely and nobly until the end. In either case, it is the struggle
that is all important, and a man obtains the status of hero if he battles the sea (life) with grace under
pressure. In the novel, Santiago embarks on a sea journey (life) and encounters a giant marlin
(treasure). He battles nobly to earn the treasure and then fights the sharks (problems) to save it. The
struggle defines him as a hero. Even though he loses the treasure (the marlin) to the sharks (the
problems), he has won the sea battle (life).
In addition, Santiago serves as a metaphor for the creative artist, someone like Hemingway himself.
He is capable in his profession, has proved his talent several times before, but that is not sufficient. He
has to prove it every day, for every day is a new day. Santiago s suffering is akin to artistic creation,
which is never

timeless theme that was shown throughout the past was redemption. No matter what era were in
people tend to give others another chance. Redemption was shown in both A Christmas Carol written

What Is The Cheerios Effect
Have you ever noticed how Cheerios (and other light breakfast cereal) seem to aggregate, forming
clumps while floating on the milk in your breakfast bowl? What is it that makes these cereal pieces
such good friends? Some described it as sugaring. Soaking in milk causes the sugars and starches that
coat the cereal to become sticky. Physicists have given it a name: the Cheerios effect .
In fluid mechanics, the Cheerios effect is the phenomenon that occurs when floating objects that don t
normally float attract one another.
At the root of the Cheerio Effect are basic physics concepts such as buoyancy, surface tension, gravity,
and the meniscus effect.
Buoyancy or density of an object compared to the liquid or air surrounding it, determines whether an
object submerged in water or surrounded by air will sink, float, or stay put. Buoyancy is what keeps
objects afloat. If an object is less dense than the liquid or air surrounding it, the object floats.
Likewise, if the object is denser, it sinks. When an object floats on water, the water will not remain
horizontal, but will instead form a bump or dimple, depending on the object s weight. The change is
more noticeable when two identical objects float close together as two ... Show more content on

At the interface which is between liquid and air, water molecules at the surface experience a strong
inward pull from water molecules beneath them but only a weak outward pull from the air molecules
above. This results in the surface of the water caving in slightly. Due to the surface tension between
the milk and the air, the air milk interface does not like to be deformed (just like an elastic sheet resists
deformation) but at the same time, gravity is pulling on the individual Cheerios. At some deformation
of the interface, the two effects cancel resulting in a deformed interface while the single object

ADHD And Odd Case Study
The main focus of the field placement was on student behaviour in the classroom and how students
with disabilities may cause distractions to the class for several reasons. Evidently, the relationship
between ADHD and ODD contribute to a student s inability to be on task and demonstrate antisocial
behaviour (Matthys and Lochman, 2017, p.3; Hamilton and Armando, p.864). The implications of
ODD on the student s education are significant due to the student s reaction to positive behavioural
management techniques may be met with uncertainty and destructiveness (NDCO, 2010, p.12). In

Therefore, Marcus is increasingly aggressive towards figures that are regarded as authoritarian and a
student that pertains both disorders tend to be more aggressive and have more persistent behavioral
problems (Hamilton and Armando, 2008, p.863). As a result, students that possess both disorders tend
to be isolated from their peers and are severely disadvantaged in their academic achievements
(Hamilton and Armando, 2008, p.863).
In an attempt to alleviate symptoms of ADHD and ODD, students that have these disorders are treated
with drugs that contain Lisdexamfetamine dimesylate (LDX) and the most popular known clinical
drug that contains LDX is Vyvanse® (Rowley et al., 2012, p.1064). Although this drug is shown to be
effective in suppressing student s aggression and disobedience in the classroom, their negative side
effects can impede on providing inclusive education due to loss of focus as a result of anorexia,
insomnia, nausea and exacerbation of motor tics (Rowley et al., 2012, p.1065). The medicine is
regarded as highly effective for students with ADHD and ODD disorders and is durable for over 12
hours (Roweley et al., 2012, p.1065). Consequently, the use of this medication is still negative as it
can create discomfort for the student that is taking LDX. The effects of LDX in motor tics are evident
as Marcus demonstrates the uncontrollable muscle spasms during lessons. Additionally, the

Nature Vs Nurture As A Serial Killer
Historical Background
What causes an individual to become a serial killer? Bio psychologists believe that starting from birth
the human mind is a tabula rasa or blank slate, and the individual learns behaviors and socio cultural
norms from individuals around them. This concept of nature versus nurture was based upon the idea
that it is how you are brought up (nurture) that governs the psychologically significant aspects of child
development and the concept of maturation applies only to the biological. The theory that explains the
nature aspect of the nature versus nurture principle is called the attachment theory, which views the
bond between mother and child as being an innate process that ensures survival. It is a biological need
that has ensured the survival of many species including the human race; because of the need to protect
and be protected humans as a species has been able to endure. It is also a psychological need to want
to be cared for as well as care for others a study done by Harry Harlow (1950s). The concept of
nurture focuses mainly on the effect that the environment has on the development of human beings
and whether it is more important than nature. Several studies have been generated to try and settle the
ongoing debate of nature versus nurture.
Many psychologists agree that nurture play a greater part in the development of a human being.

European Crisis and Its Impact on India
Living beyond our means = European crisis
In early 2010 economic activities of the PIGS (a group of 4 nations in Europe namely Portugal, Italy,
Greece and Spain) have come under increased scrutiny from the international investment community,
with the threat of Sovereign default lurking around the corner. Sovereign default refers to a situation
when government of particular country is unable to repay its debts. This situation of default payments
by governments lead to European crisis. With onslaught of the recession and subsequent introduction
of various financial stimulus packages, the government expenditure like public job creation, pensions,
social benefits etc ..on various countries took on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fitch Ratings said investors are deeply skeptical about the ability of governments to get a handle on
their huge debt burdens.
``While the package of measures announced will moderate euro area governments vulnerability to

US MARKET REACTION
US Stocks took their deepest plunge in more than a year as fears grew that Europe s debt crisis could
spread around the world and undermine the U.S. economic recovery. The possibility has been brewing
for weeks, but analysts said some investors are just waking up to it.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 376 points, its biggest point drop since February 2009. All the
major indexes were down well over 3 percent and are now showing losses for 2010. Interest rates fell
sharply in the Treasury market as investors once again sought the safety of U.S. government debt.
The number of people applying for unemployment benefits last week rose unexpectedly and the Greek
government s response to its debt crisis sparked new protests in Athens, but analysts said neither event
appeared to set off Thursday s selling.
They said more insvestors seemed to be grasping the possibility that the U.S. recovery could be in
jeopardy, and that many were realizing that the stock market s big rebound since March 2009

The Competency Assessment Programme ( Cap )
Exemplar Currently, I am completing one of the requirements of the Competency Assessment
Programme (CAP) which is undergoing the clinical placement. When I learned that I will be assigned
to work at an aged care facility, I felt excited. The feeling of imagining what will it be like working as
a registered nurse in an aged care facility makes me feel satisfied because I know that aged care work
is rewarding in itself since I have worked before as a healthcare assistant for a year. I was assigned to
work at Hospital 1. On a Friday morning during our medication rounds with my preceptor, our
attention was drawn by one of the caregiver s report about a resident who is experiencing difficulty in
breathing. The resident s name is Map (pseudonym). He is 76 years old with a history of stroke. He
has right sided weakness and has the inability to produce speech. He also has a history of multiple
hospital admission over the years due to chest infection. As soon as we heard her report, we stopped
doing our medication rounds and attended to the said resident. When we came into Map s
(pseudonym) room, we saw him positioned on a semi Fowler s at approximately 30 degree angle. I
heard his productive cough and observed retractions, use of accessory muscles when breathing,
inability to lie flat in bed, extreme diaphoresis, and central cyanosis. On that particular moment, I also
observed that a healthcare assistant is present at the bedside trying to sit him up. When we asked what

James C Collins Clock Building, Not Time Telling
This paper will explore the concept of Clock Building, Not Time Telling, as presented by James C.
Collins and Jerry I. Porras in their book, Built To Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies.
The goal is to identify the underlying reason and rational behind architects of visionary companies and
how they left their mark for generations to come through something larger than a single act or product.
Through compelling facts and research about companies, a change in thought has occurred. For the
enterprises and start ups of tomorrow, leaders must strive to be clock builders. By becoming these
grand architects, the leader s greatest creation, the company itself and what it stands for, (Collins and
Porras 23) must stand above and beyond anything else. This is the crucial claim discovered by Collins
and Porras by investigating key factors. Through exploring two entrenched business myths, they
revealed that visionary companies were built upon something greater and grander than originally
thought. They began to evaluate various companies roots and leadership, finding astonishing
correlations that change the landscape and mindset of company development. Simply being able to tell
the time will not cut it in the business world; one must build a clock from the ground up to truly
succeed.
To develop an understanding of Clock Building, Not Time Telling, we will first explore the two myths
of the business world that are engrained in the minds of individuals thought to achieve

87 years young. Some may say 87 is an old age, but my grandma makes 87 years look young.
However, even though she seems younger, she has the knowlege and experience of someone who has

She is on every social media site you can think of..How many grandma s do you know that even own

Reflection On Dreaming And Consciousness
The Robert Berezin M.D. author of the article Reflections On Dreaming and Consciousness discusses
what we are dreaming when we are sleeping and how they operate when we are sleeping. In the
article, he claims that during sleep our muscle goes to rest and all the waste products of muscle
activity eliminated. The author supports most dreams are emotional conflicts and in my dreams are
emotional conflicts, when I dream about the pain, the dreams help me to settle down my emotion
because I took an action against pain in my dream. The author describes that people address conflict
through the dreams such as pain, hopes, sexual interest. I strongly agree with him because whenever I
face conflicts, the dreams help me to settle down my emotion because I took an action against
conflicts in my dream and this make me feel better. The authors mention that we do not fully
remember our dreams. I think the reasons people do not remember their dreams because I believe a
dream is a fantasy world, dreams are not turning out as an actual real life event. Whatever we do
throughout the day and whatever consequences we face throughout the day converted into a story and
we saw that image in our dreams, in fact, the dreams do not solve problems in our life, when we
dream about addressing the problem we wish we could solve the problem this way. So, the dreams are
kind of useless in our life, therefore, most people forget about their dreams and they only remember
tiny portions.
My textbook says about the dreams is our dream simply reflect life events that are important to the
people. In the textbook, famous scientist Freud classified dreams as a two categorized such as
manifest content and latent content. The manifest content is our important events convert into a
storyline and we see the visual image, on the other hand, latent content is a hidden meaning of the
dream. The psychologists also discover lucid dreams and this dream are slightly different than a
regular dream because a person is conscious when they are dreaming also the dreamer control the
content of the dreams. My notes support the author claim about people dreams on sexual interest
because my notes say approximately 95% of peoples dreams about the sexual interest and

Christopher Wren Contributions
Christopher Wren s advancements during his time were some of the best and well known. He
furthered science and technology as a professor and helped rebuild the lives of many through his
architecture. Even with his being sick all the time he still was able to help and contribute. Wren s
many achievements and discoveries as well as his contribution to the London fire lead him to being
remembered in history and influenced other scientists along the way. Christopher Wren s architecture
was greatly influenced by the architecture before him. Medieval and baroque architecture especially.
Baroque architecture is tall arches long hallways and grand entrances and rooms. Almost everything is
covered in gold and intricate designs. There are often mirrors and windows lining the walls. At the
entrance there are usually roman columns. Art and tapestries cover everything as well. Every the entire
building is symmetrical making it look visually pleasing. The medieval architecture had tall arches
and spires throughout the building. The spires were tall symbolizing to look to God not the world.
These attributes among others influenced Wren s designs. In fact wren said, The secret of architectural
excellence is to translate the proportions of a dachshund into bricks, mortar and marble. (Geraghty 2).
Christopher Wren was born October 20,1632, in East Knoyle, United Kingdom. Wren s mother was
Mary Cox, and his father was Christopher Wren senior. Christopher Wren Jr. was married to Jane

Boo Radley Symbolism
To Kill a Mockingbird In the Novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, the author Harper Lee uses symbolism to
express the idea of how fear can make someone make the wrong decision. Atticus warned the kids that
they could shoot all the blue jays they wanted to but it was a sin to kill a mockingbird. Miss Maudie
helps explains to the kids the mockingbirds don t do anything but make beautiful music for people to
enjoy. The mockingbird symbolizes Boo Radley because he is an innocent person who has been
destroyed through contact with evil. In conclusion, there are two main characters that the mockingbird
symbolizes and they are Tom Robinson and Boo Radley. Atticus warned the kids that they could shoot
all the blue jays they wanted but it was a sin to kill a mockingbird. Mockingbirds don t do one thing
but make music for us to enjoy. They don t eat up people s gardens, don t nest in corncribs, they don t
do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. Thats why its a sin to kill to a mockingbird. For Example,
Tom Robinson did not cause anyone harm, he was just going out of his way to help Mayella with her
chores. His intention were good, he was misjudged and misunderstood. Finally, Tom Robinson was an
innocent man who was killed for his kindness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Quality Indicators Essay
Quality indicators(QI)are created by the AHRQ(Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality), Quality
indicators are standardized, evidence based measures of health care quality that can be used with
readily available hospital inpatient or outpatient administrative data to measure and track quality of
care. QI culture is dedicated to clinical studies, setting goals, measurement of performance, identify
the indicators, implementation and making an organized transition. However, these quality indicators
are mostly driven by measurement of performance, with the aim to enhance healthcare. These quality
indicators are constructed into four standardized parts.
1.Pediatric Quality Indictors(PQI), pediatric indicators are a group of measures that focus on the
quality of care for the pediatric population/patients and preventable hospital admissions. PQI review
issues or problems with children , that may have occurred as a result of being in the healthcare setting.

Prevention Quality Indicators(PQI), POI represent hospital admission rates for common ambulatory
care sensitive conditions . This indicator is driven by early detection and limitation of severe disease.
And these indicators can be used to recognize potential issues and focuses on preventive
healthcare/services. For example, A patient was admitted to the hospital due to complications related
to warfarin toxicity elevated INR of 6.45. This indicator would suggest that if adequate teaching was
provided, hospitalization may have been avoided if their PT/INR was monitored regularly as an
outpatient. As PQI strongly supports community clinic/primary care physician support. 3. Inpatient
Quality Indicators(IQI), IQI are hospital and area level indicators relating to utilization . These
indicators review or measure the level of quality medical care (poorly delivered care or inefficient
care) in the hospital setting and death rates. Also, IQI examine various inpatient procedures and

how much they love him and Cordelia says she loves him as much as a daughter should love her

Moon Landing Conspiracy
The Moon landings during the 1960 s and 1970 s were the largest world events at the time. Millions of
people tuned in to watch them, but many believe that the events never even took place. For decades
conspiracy theorists have been trying to solve the case, believing the Moon landing to be a total hoax.
Statistics show that Americans between 18 24 years old are the largest percentage that believes the
Moon landings did not occur (Why do People Persist in Denying the Moon Landings?). For those who
do not believe in the Moon landings, Apollo 17 astronaut Harrison Schmitt says, If people decide they
re going to deny the facts of history and the facts of science and technology, there s not much you can
do with them. For most of them, I just feel sorry that we failed in their education (Why do People
Persist in Denying the Moon Landings?). The majority of Americans in today s culture does not
remember or were not alive during the Moon landings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the Moon there is no wind, so therefore the flag should not ripple and wave in space. Conspiracy
theorists believe that this correlates with the T.V. studio conspiracy; they believe that there was a
breeze in the studio making the flag wave (Platoff). NASA planned out the entire situation of planting
the flag into the Moon s surface. NASA wanted to design a simple and easily assembled flagpole
because the astronauts were wearing space suits. The flagpole was designed with a two part
telescoping pole kit with a telescoping crossbar. During the event of the flag being planted it was said,
Armstrong and Aldrin reported few problems with deployment. They had trouble extending the
horizontal telescoping rod and could not pull it all the way out. This gave the flag a bit of a rippling
effect, and later crews intentionally left the rod partially retracted

  • 2. What Does It Mean To Be Holistic Holistic is an important word that is often used in regards to health and social context, and we will surely come across it relatively often, as it is crucial in the education arena. The definiton of holistic is of the whole , and refers to the fact that anything and everything is the sum of its parts, not just one or another. An example of holistic would be that the holistic view of a computer is that it is a multifunctional electronic device, designed to be used in a variety of ways and that it is not just a keyboard, or a motherboard, or a screen and therefore without these parts it couldnâ€TMt function. This is also relative to children and young people as a child, for example, who is good with woodwork may excel at other physical activites, as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is thought therefore, that the stimulation of adults and older children communicating with them, even though the baby cannot yet understand, it just as important as everything else done with them. Around 1 year old they will start to attempt to speak, but often their pronunciation is unclearand the words are typically used singly, by themselve, rather than in sentences. In the 12 months following , they start bringing words together into short phrases and sentences, and as they use language more, their vocabularly rapidly increases. Concepts such as plurals and negatives come in the next 12 months, and sentences become better formed, although grammatical errors in speech are also likely, especially as English is a fairly irregular language, so verbs such as eat become eaten, ad can be commonly mistaking by ... • 3. The Great Expectations By Charles Dickens Essay In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Estella Havisham and Pip are a product of physical and psychological abuse that shapes their opposing perspective in the novel. Pip understands the notion of love through Mr. Joe and his relationships with the varying characters, while Estella remains cold and incapable of loving anyone, including herself under the affluence of Miss Havisham. Estella was considered the great expectation at the time because she represented the beauty and affluent ideals of the Victorian Age. Pip on the other hand, an indigent boy who could scarcely sound out words and was apprenticed to a blacksmith. These two distinct, yet similar worlds of Estella and Pip will leave them longing for something more that evidently influences their perspectives of the events in the novel, the notion for love. Estella marries into an abusive relationship at the conclusion of the novel, while Pip experiences various losses of family and friends, forcing him to realize that human compassion is greater than societal standing. While under the affluence of her benefactor Miss Havisham, Estella became molded into this puppet , resulting from the compliant and haughty personality that Miss Havisham induced in her. Miss Havisham used Estella as a product of vengeance to men, since she betrayed and left at the altar by Compeyson. In the dialogue where Miss Havisham scolds Estella for having a cold heart, Estella replies, All that you have given me, is at your command to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Legitimacy And Global Governance The legitimacy and importance of institutions in global governance is a highly contested topic, among which many question the existence of international institutions. To suggest that institutions in global governance do not matter, is to suggest that the majority of countries have the willingness to co operate, the ability to solve disputes and to organise themselves to ensure problems are dealt with effectively without the pressure of an outside body which has been proven to be ineffective . This essay will examine how institutions matter and are important in global governance, through examining a realist views, using Waltz concepts of insecurity and global governance. It will examine how global institutions can promote peace and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are important because in the international realm, there is always insecurity and a lack of trust between states; they can never be certain that there are no threats from other states and therefore there is always the risk that a war may commence. This is particularly a problem as pluralism exists among states, therefore there are different views and aims, which inevitably cause disagreements. There is essentially an anarchic condition, where there is no global government to enforce punishment or control disputes and in turn there is a constant security dilemma . Institutions, such as the UN, create a forum where different states issues can be discussed and the institution can act as a mediator to create an appropriate response and plan, in order to deal with the issues. A prime example of how where institutions this and may have been beneficial is World War One and World War Two, of which the United Nations arose. This shows that states were aware of the dangers and risks of war that an anarchic system had, and wanted an international institution to help prevent problems such as these occurring again . Not to suggest that global institutions create world peace, but they can put pressure on certain states, help solve arguments and controls disputes, to decrease the chances of escalation of war. • 10. Analysis Of Graduation Day By Maya Angelou Forged by Pain In 1940, the United States approached the eightieth year anniversary of the abolition of slavery; however, the social oppression of African American citizens steadily increased. Despite being free for decades, they were still leagues below the white people who owned their ancestors. African American author Maya Angelou recollects on her experience of graduation from the eighth grade in her 1940 piece Graduation Day. The narrative not only highlights the importance of the narrator s graduation, but also the expectations of Angelou s community due to their persecution and separation. Perseverance through separation and persecution forges dignity in an individual. The separation of the African American displays the importance of graduation day. Angelou was only graduating from the eighth grade, but because of the sociocultural differences, graduation proved momentous in their community. Angelou later states Oh, it was important, all right. White folks would attend the ceremony, and two or three would speak of God and home, and the Southern way of life (Angelou, 2014, p. 181). The school making a minute event into a grand celebration conveys much about the state of the position African Americans were subjected to. Angelou displays this later when she describes the scene of small children presented in a play about buttercups and daisies and bunny rabbits and older girls preparing snacks and beverages. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chapter II Review of related Literature Summary: Online gaming has faced and still faces many problems. The main reason for this is that the Internet was not designed for such a medium. The Internet was designed to provide redundant points of communication, not to provide high speed arcade action (Bates, Lag and the Game Reviewers 175). A few technological barriers stand in the way of a vision of ideal multi player gaming over the Internet. The most significant of these technological problems are the problems of latency and reliability. Internet latency is inevitable data transfer delays that create lag in games, keeping an online game from running smoothly. Some also feel that because of this lag, true interactive gaming will never be possible over the Internet. Bandwidth issues are also a problem. Receiving data is difficult over the Internet, particularly collecting data from several players in a multi player game. Another problem that online gamers face is finding people to play with online. Dedicated game server sites have helped answer this problem. MPath, TEN, and BattleNet are some such game systems whose principal mission is match making. However, some of these dedicated game servers charge ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nomi wants to get out of the East Village in Manitoba and go to the East Village in New York although she has never been and knows very little about it she has decided that New York is the place for her to go. One of the films mentioned in the novel is West Side Story, which takes place in the upper east side of New York City. This could be one of Nomi s inspirations for her desire to move to New York. This could also add to her fascination of America overall. Nomi would often fantasize that her father was going to Minnesota for a coffee (Toews 88) and she would go to the border and stare at America (Toews 56). Nomi has no aspirations to move to larger city in Canada like Vancouver or Ottawa. She has the mentality that the American dream is what she needs to be happy; a concept that the media often likes to show. If Nomi never had access to these films it would be more likely that she would want to venture somewhere closer to home like Winnipeg. Since Nomi only had minimal exposure movies that portray the idea of the American dream her view on it is slightly twisted. She doesn t know exactly what would be waiting for her in New York but she hopes that it would be her Mother and Sister. The moon cactus gained 5.1 grams and the zebra cactus gained 2.4 grams. The Pigmyweed lost 1.3 grams. This means the cacti out competed the succulent. Also, surprisingly, each of the worms gained 0.015 grams. We believed the worms ate the roots and the plants decomposed material. Both of the cacti had noticeably larger root systems. In fact, a;; the plants were still moist because sand was sticking to them. In any ecosystem, I tend to believe that everything lives in harmony. Civil Law and Criminal Law Public Law and Private Law Substantive Law and Procedural Law Municipal Law and International Law The classification between Public Law and Private Law is one of the most important classifications of law. Public Law in general terms has been defined as the law of relations between the individual and state . Holland lays down the simplest test to determine whether the case falls in public law or private law If one of the parties is state, the case falls in the dimension of public law . However, with passing times and more complex issues arising, the scope of public law is going much beyond the normal definition of state as one of the parties . The scope of public law now also involves various other matters such as business regulation. Also, the scope of public law varies from state to state and system to system. While a socialist economy will see private law having a much stronger authority, this will not be the case in a capitalist or a mixed economy state. • 18. Theme Of Symbolism In Sea Of The Sea The novel is rich in symbolism that enhances both the plot and the Themes. The major symbol is the sea, which stands for all of life on which man must sail. In both the sea and in life, there are a number of possibilities that lie hidden from the common eye; some are gifts to be treasured and some are problems to be defeated. Neither will be found unless man embarks upon the journey. If man is lucky enough to discover a treasure (be it love or family or education), he must fight until death to retain it; if man is unlucky enough to discover an evil lurking underneath the surface of the sea (any one of life s varied problems), he must fight it bravely and nobly until the end. In either case, it is the struggle that is all important, and a man obtains the status of hero if he battles the sea (life) with grace under pressure. In the novel, Santiago embarks on a sea journey (life) and encounters a giant marlin (treasure). He battles nobly to earn the treasure and then fights the sharks (problems) to save it. The struggle defines him as a hero. Even though he loses the treasure (the marlin) to the sharks (the problems), he has won the sea battle (life). In addition, Santiago serves as a metaphor for the creative artist, someone like Hemingway himself. He is capable in his profession, has proved his talent several times before, but that is not sufficient. He has to prove it every day, for every day is a new day. Santiago s suffering is akin to artistic creation, which is never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. What Is The Cheerios Effect Have you ever noticed how Cheerios (and other light breakfast cereal) seem to aggregate, forming clumps while floating on the milk in your breakfast bowl? What is it that makes these cereal pieces such good friends? Some described it as sugaring. Soaking in milk causes the sugars and starches that coat the cereal to become sticky. Physicists have given it a name: the Cheerios effect . In fluid mechanics, the Cheerios effect is the phenomenon that occurs when floating objects that don t normally float attract one another. At the root of the Cheerio Effect are basic physics concepts such as buoyancy, surface tension, gravity, and the meniscus effect. Buoyancy or density of an object compared to the liquid or air surrounding it, determines whether an object submerged in water or surrounded by air will sink, float, or stay put. Buoyancy is what keeps objects afloat. If an object is less dense than the liquid or air surrounding it, the object floats. Likewise, if the object is denser, it sinks. When an object floats on water, the water will not remain horizontal, but will instead form a bump or dimple, depending on the object s weight. The change is more noticeable when two identical objects float close together as two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... ADHD And Odd Case Study The main focus of the field placement was on student behaviour in the classroom and how students with disabilities may cause distractions to the class for several reasons. Evidently, the relationship between ADHD and ODD contribute to a student s inability to be on task and demonstrate antisocial behaviour (Matthys and Lochman, 2017, p.3; Hamilton and Armando, p.864). The implications of ODD on the student s education are significant due to the student s reaction to positive behavioural management techniques may be met with uncertainty and destructiveness (NDCO, 2010, p.12). • 22. Nature Vs Nurture As A Serial Killer Historical Background What causes an individual to become a serial killer? Bio psychologists believe that starting from birth the human mind is a tabula rasa or blank slate, and the individual learns behaviors and socio cultural norms from individuals around them. This concept of nature versus nurture was based upon the idea that it is how you are brought up (nurture) that governs the psychologically significant aspects of child development and the concept of maturation applies only to the biological. The theory that explains the nature aspect of the nature versus nurture principle is called the attachment theory, which views the bond between mother and child as being an innate process that ensures survival. It is a biological need that has ensured the survival of many species including the human race; because of the need to protect and be protected humans as a species has been able to endure. It is also a psychological need to want to be cared for as well as care for others a study done by Harry Harlow (1950s). The concept of nurture focuses mainly on the effect that the environment has on the development of human beings and whether it is more important than nature. Several studies have been generated to try and settle the ongoing debate of nature versus nurture. Many psychologists agree that nurture play a greater part in the development of a human being. Porras in their book, Built To Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies. The goal is to identify the underlying reason and rational behind architects of visionary companies and how they left their mark for generations to come through something larger than a single act or product. Through compelling facts and research about companies, a change in thought has occurred. For the enterprises and start ups of tomorrow, leaders must strive to be clock builders. By becoming these grand architects, the leader s greatest creation, the company itself and what it stands for, (Collins and Porras 23) must stand above and beyond anything else. This is the crucial claim discovered by Collins and Porras by investigating key factors. Through exploring two entrenched business myths, they revealed that visionary companies were built upon something greater and grander than originally thought. They began to evaluate various companies roots and leadership, finding astonishing correlations that change the landscape and mindset of company development. Simply being able to tell the time will not cut it in the business world; one must build a clock from the ground up to truly succeed. • 27. Reflection On Dreaming And Consciousness The Robert Berezin M.D. author of the article Reflections On Dreaming and Consciousness discusses what we are dreaming when we are sleeping and how they operate when we are sleeping. In the article, he claims that during sleep our muscle goes to rest and all the waste products of muscle activity eliminated. The author supports most dreams are emotional conflicts and in my dreams are emotional conflicts, when I dream about the pain, the dreams help me to settle down my emotion because I took an action against pain in my dream. The author describes that people address conflict through the dreams such as pain, hopes, sexual interest. I strongly agree with him because whenever I face conflicts, the dreams help me to settle down my emotion because I took an action against conflicts in my dream and this make me feel better. The authors mention that we do not fully remember our dreams. I think the reasons people do not remember their dreams because I believe a dream is a fantasy world, dreams are not turning out as an actual real life event. Whatever we do throughout the day and whatever consequences we face throughout the day converted into a story and we saw that image in our dreams, in fact, the dreams do not solve problems in our life, when we dream about addressing the problem we wish we could solve the problem this way. So, the dreams are kind of useless in our life, therefore, most people forget about their dreams and they only remember tiny portions. My textbook says about the dreams is our dream simply reflect life events that are important to the people. In the textbook, famous scientist Freud classified dreams as a two categorized such as manifest content and latent content. The manifest content is our important events convert into a storyline and we see the visual image, on the other hand, latent content is a hidden meaning of the dream. The psychologists also discover lucid dreams and this dream are slightly different than a regular dream because a person is conscious when they are dreaming also the dreamer control the content of the dreams.
