Characteristics Of Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman Finally Flying! When you think of superheroes you think of heroes such as
Batman, Superman, or the Flash, but one hero that was left in the shadow was Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman has struggled for years to get off the ground even with her invisible jet. She has
had this ongoing struggle because of her constant comparison with her male counterparts such as
Batman, Superman, and the Flash.
Although superheroes are fictional they all have their own unique backstories. Wonder Woman
has a very different backstory than her male counterparts. Wonder Woman was born onto Paradise
Island to her mother Hippolyta. Wonder Woman s given name was Diana, and this what she was
called her entire life on the island with the other Amazon women. Wonder Woman then found her
way into the human world whenever a pilot named Steve Trevor crashes onto her island, and she
wins the rights to escort him back home. One of her male counterpart Superman was born on the
planet of Krypton, but his parents sent him out into space as their planet was being destroyed.
Superman eventually wound up crashing into earth, and being raised by a farming couple instead
of his biological parents. The farming couple would raise the boy by the name Clark Kent. Another
hero that had to grow up without his biological parents was Batman or more formally known as
Bruce Wayne. Batman parents were killed during a mugging right in front of him on night in
Gotham City. After his parent s death, he was raised by the

Analysis Of The Killer At Thurston High
The online documentary filmed by Frontline, The Killer at Thurston High, goes into the life of
Kip Kinkel, leading up to him killing his parents, two fellow classmates and injuring 25 more.
This film examines Kip Kinkel s life, looking for clues that lead to him committing this mass
murder. Areas that were explored such as his upbringing, social life, his hobbies, and events that
led him to seeing a psychologist for depression. All of these areas that the documentary covered
show a gradual, consistent build up in concerning behavior. This documentary shows that there
were precursors leading up to these tragic events like the Thurston High shooting and the list of
troubling behavior that can lead to this. A common focus that was brought up numerus times in
the film was how Kip had difficulty doing things, compared to his sister or other his own age.
This was mentioned when his sister was interviewed. She stated the Kip would get confused
with certain letters. He was later diagnosed with dyslexia and was held back in first grade in
school. The result from Kip being held back was began to have some resentment towards his
parents. Also, that he was different from his peer group and felt less equal due to being held
back. This was the beginning of known areas of people who commit mass murder. While in
middle school Kip began to start getting into trouble in and out of school. He was picked on in
school. This lead to him wanting to take martial art classes even

Consumers in the health care field value competition in many circumstances due to the fact that it
assist that it can decrease costs, improve quality of health care delivered and promotes latest
technology and innovation. Therefore, it is the Federal Trade Commission s (FTC) duty as a law
enforcer to thwart firms from engaging in anticompetitive behaviors that could potentially prevent
the above described from happening and ultimately harm consumer. Additionally, the FTC provides

Rape Abuse Incest National Network Case Study
Rape Abuse Incest National Network (RAINN) is an online based charity service that seeks to
provide treatment for victims of sexual abuse. Using the Discover, Identify, and Develop (DID)
model this paper will find evidence that the services provided are being done so ethically as well as
following the proper laws. The paper will then discuss two sample cases to see how the RAINN
approach would work for them.

In order to discover if the RAINN can actually offer competent services one must first determine
the mission of the agency. RAINN does not have a very clear mission statement. The website
attempts to cover all the services with an umbrella statement simply stating that each different

Gatsby American Dream 1920s
In the book, The Great Gatsby, it shows what happened to the American Dream in the 1920 s,
which is a day and age when the dreams got the opportunity to be particularly polluted for a few
reasons. The American dream is both a blessing and a curse in light of the way that unfortunately
for Myrtle, Gatsby and Daisy it has brought on pleasure and destruction. The American Dream is
defined by, the set of ideals (democracy, rights, liberty, opportunity, and equality) in which
freedom includes the opportunity for prosperity and success , and the people in the 1920 s are

The Sweet Hereafter Film Analysis
The Sweet Hereafter, directed by Atom Egoyan, is a film about the devastation caused by a bus
crash in a small Canadian community that killed many of the town s children. Like many of
Egoyan s works, this film indicates his directorial style by using film techniques that place the
audience in the characters shoes. Egoyan uses nonlinear timelines, motifs and music, along with
his great use of camera work, mise en scene, and voice over, to present the plot in a way that
engages the audience and leaves an impression long after the filmhas finished. A scene in the film
that shows these techniques is the Deposition Hearing Scene. This scene is critical to the rest of
the film because it helps the viewers understand Nicole s character and how she feels towards her
father. By having Nicole lie about the bus crash, Nicole is released from the abusive power of her
father, Sam. In this scene, at first, Nicole seems vulnerable, but as the scene continues, the audience
and character s views of her change.
During the deposition hearing, film techniques help in revealing that Nicole is lying about what
happened during the bus crash. The camera pans slowly to show the interview. This makes the
atmosphere seem tense and as there is also no background noise in this part of the scene, it seems
like a very serious moment of the film. As the scene progresses the smooth panning camera shots
changes to quick, choppy cuts between Nicole, Sam, and Mitchell. This indicates to the audience
that

The Underlying Assumptions Of Consumer Sovereignty Theory
Consumer sovereignty is the theory that consumers are the main elements in the economy because
they exert ultimate control over the economy. Through their spending decisions, individual
consumers ultimately determine the quantities and qualities of goods and services produced and
the availability of these goods and services in time and space.
An example of consumer sovereignty is illustrated as follows: A drinks company introduces two
types of drinks in two continents: Drink A and Drink B. Drink A sells very well in Africa and
Drink B in Asia. Only the one that sells well in Africa (Drink A) will remain in production in Africa
whilst the one that sells well in Asia (Drink B) will remain in production in Asia. Continuing to
produce Drink B in Africa and Drink A in Asia is not economically viable as the consumers in these
regions do not prefer it. Thus, through their purchasing pattern, the consumers have influenced what
goods continue to remain in production.
The underlying assumptions of consumer sovereignty theory in an ideal market are:
i.That the consumers are rational and try to make choices that maximize their utility ii. That
consumers have all the information needed to make the optimal choice iii. That consumers are able
to purchase goods and services in a competitive marketplace
Based on the above, consumer sovereignty in healthcare would imply that society benefits at large
when healthcare providers and organizations compete to develop high quality products and

Blanche Dubois Death
Death, Desire, and DuBois Set in 1947 in the French Quarter of New Orleans, A Streetcar Named
Desire, written by playwright Tennessee Williams, transpires from the motifs of death and desire.
The drama follows the disillusioned, tragically flawed life of Blanche DuBois who seeks refuge
with her sister Stella and brutish brother in law Stanley Kowalskiafter the loss of her family s estate.
As the play progresses, Williams reveals the many layers of Blanche s unfortunate past and the
interpretation behind her escalating hysteria and delusional fate prompted by her inability to
confront reality. In the first scene, Blanche is brought to the Kowalskis by two streetcars. She first
boards the streetcar named Desire and then transfers to the subsequent... Show more content on

She admits, Death―I used to sit here and she used to sit over there and death was as close as you
are... the opposite of desire (Williams 148 149). Blanche uses desire as a way to comfort herself
from the death she has experienced in her past, as well as the fear of its existence in her future.
Williams s creation of death and desire as two perpetual themes throughout the play grow
increasingly dependent upon each other. The synthesis of the two motifs is ultimately the effect
of Blanche s initial experience with a self consuming, one sided relationship that fell short due to
the workings of death. Blanche was married at a young age to a boy she was deeply in love with.
However, his sudden suicide marked her initial desire to disguise her sadness with intimacies with
strangers in an attempt to avoid any further damage that death could cause her. From then on, desire
became Blanche s way of subsisting through

Who Is The Wife Of Martin Guerre
Question: Rewrite your Martin Guerre essay with relevance to whether the ideologies of society if
being reinforced or challenged; make sure to mention in respect to the book s context, contemporary
society and your own context.
Literary writers incorporate narrative elements in order to convey the flaws of humanity in society,
such as gender or class based issues. The Wife of Martin Guerre, by Janet Lewis, portrays the
individual s struggles in feudalist, sixteenth century France and delves into the issues of a complete
authoritarian rule, the place of women in patriarchal societies, and the concepts of family honour,
justice, truth and love. Lewis utilises metaphorical characterisation of Monsier Guerre, Bertrande de

challenging the ideology of a restricted homemaker role with a lack of control over life choices
and education. Lewis considers the strength needed in order to defy the constraints society places
one into and the potential a woman has to independence. Lewis teaches her readers the tenacity one
must have in adversity, disregarding the restrictions placed upon a person s gender.
The concept of true love is challenged through Bertrande s struggle between her desire of the
impostor, the love she had rejected for it was forbidden, and her loyalty to her husband, the love
that had rejected her. The limitations of her power to decide her own life, and the resultant of
circumstances beyond her control, deepens her internal struggle of expediency for the mesnie s
sake and the absolute that Arnaud is not her true husband is the truth, [and she] cannot change it.
Lewis illustrates Bertrande s love for Martin as a habitual love born from a convenient arranged
marriage but her love for Arnaud is a mutual, true love she had naturally fallen into. This

Workplace Conflict Is A Specific Type Of Conflict
Workplace conflict is a specific type of conflict that occurs in the workplace. According to Cloke
and Goldsmith, Most executives, managers, and employees face conflicts on a daily or weekly
basis, spending from 20 percent to as much as 80 percent of their working hours trying to resolve
or contain them (Cloke Goldsmith, 2011). It is an inevitable part of our workday life that can be
caused by many factors, such as different values, beliefs, opinions, and points of view. It can
create a great deal of tension for all those involved. Our workplace are already stressful enough
before conflictcontributes to its share of stress. Ineffective management s styles, hierarchical
structures, misunderstandings, and unrealistic expectations are just a few factors that help
shape the conflicts that may arise at the workplace. We all come across at least one incident in
our lives that is challenging and we are baffled on what decision is to be made. This paper will
then report an incident in my life involving a conflict at my workplace by probing my thoughts
and feelings. First, I will describe the conflict situation and issues of contention. Second, I will
discuss how the conflict was dealt with. Third, I will explain what could have been done
differently to effectively resolve the dispute. Firstly, for the purpose of this paper, I work at

To Kill A Mockingbird Analysis Essay
Racism is a part of human nature; everyone judges their surroundings and the people living in it
through a secret lens. Since the beginning of time racism has occurred, but during the Great
Depression this lens was most clear to all. This goes hand in hand with the story of To Kill a
Mockingbird , written by Harper Lee. This book is based on Lee s childhood during the
Depression. Some of the characters in the story are portrayed in her actual life; Atticus is based off
her father who was also a lawyer, Dill was in reference of her friend Truman Capote, and Jean
Louise is referring to Lee herself telling the story of her life experiences (Baddeley). Throughout the
novel, Lee expresses the events that went on around her during the... Show more content on

Not only do Lee s accomplishments for the book interpret ethos, within the novel there are quotes
that illustrate credibility. One speech, in particular, is the one Atticus gives in trail while talking to
Mayella Ewell about tempting a negro . Atticus stated, She was white, and she tempted a Negro.
She did something that in our society is unspeakable: she kissed a black man (Lee 272). By stating
this in front of the jury, it shows his authority over the people to pull their attention to the situation
at hand; along with the ethos used in that statement, Atticus uses emotion to make the jury feel the
pain. Pathos is yet another appeal Harper Lee incorporated to allure the audience to understand
what she went through when she was younger.
Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee applies pathos to encourage the readers to feel the
emotions she faced during her childhood. Harper Lee tells the story through Jean Louise s
standpoint, a young girl living in the time of the Depression. By doing this, the readers see more of
an innocent perspective and observe the emotions Jean and the people withstand, midst the
Depression to emotionally provoke the reader to feel bad for what they went through. One event in
particular that draws in the reader is the final speech made by Atticus at the end of the trial against
Tom Robinson. Atticus mentions guilt and pity within this final hearing to expose to the people
why the crime was committed. He chooses to pull the jury and

low price but always the same exact price. 2) The oil can be made, sold, then poured into your
own vehicle and could last as long as regular gasoline. 3) This is a very easy and reasonable way
to stay away from those high unacceptable prices. B. Another solution to keep gas prices low
would be more people/workers out looking and collecting oil. 1) The more people there are
looking for oil the better the chance of finding more oil to make gas. 2) This would speed the

The Great Northwoods Essay
The Great Northwoods
As with all things, the history of an event does not begin at its conception. With this in mind, it is
my intention to provide the reader with a general history of events that led to the formation of the
Nicolet National Forest of northern Wisconsin. In order to do so, I found it necessary to begin
with the early explorations of such notables as James Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, and Jean
Nicolet. These French explorers blazed a path that enabled the settling of the territories now know
as Wisconsin. Men like them embodied the new era of exploration that was gripping the European
nations with the quest for empire, trade, and the advancement of Christianity, leading the way. In

With the failure of agriculture to take a firm hold, the conservation movement led the
government to purchase large tracts of land in an effort to save what little was left of the great
forests of Wisconsin. Fires had become rampant within the region, lives were being lost, and the
government became determined to correct the situation. I have determined that the end point of
my discussion will be the years leading up to World War II. For while the Great Depression
brought about untold suffering for many, it was actually the giver of life for the Nicolet National
Forest. People needed work, and the government was searching for ways to put them to work.
Forming and nurturing the growth of a National Forest was the ideal answer for thousands. The
years immediately proceeding World War II brought back economic security for many, and left a
legacy of many industrial accomplishments as well as non industrial accomplishments such as the
Nicolet National Forest. In conclusion, the manner that I have chosen to write this paper was
presented to me by my sources. Of the few sources that I was able to garner dealing solely with
the Nicolet National Forest, each followed the same general outline. And, since importance was
stressed upon these areas already by established historians, I felt that it should not be ignored.
The first major exploration that bears particular relevance to the Nicolet National Forest begins
with the exploits of James

Ways Of Classifying Superheroes
If someone is asked which superhero they d like to be, they might pick one in a few seconds.
Picking which superhero or even having one superpower is an important milestone in someone s
life. There are many ways to classify a superhero; what their powers are, if they wear capes or not,
pre or post comic movies, and how they became a superhero. The most important part is the
categories of superpowers. It s one of the various ways to decide which superhero to be.
Classifying superheroes by superpowers makes it easier to pick. The first type of superpower is
one which changes your appearance as a consequence. The Hulk, and the Thing, both from Marvel,
are a part of this type. They must transform into giant creatures to have their superpower. The Hulk
and the Thing both have super strength but the Hulk has to be big and green, while the Thing is

visor over his eyes to hold his optic blasts in check. Another type of superpower requires one to

Importance Of Political Egalitarianism
Political egalitarianism is the essential principle of any democratic society. All citizens have
equal conditions for participation in political life. However, the reality is that the principle of
political equality of citizens coexists with the social hierarchy that has developed around the socio
professional categories, the level of education and income, classes and etc. Because we consider
democracy as the only right way of governing people it is important to understand what makes
some participate and the others to stay away from the whole process. Income can be one of the
major factors that affects participation and needs to be studied in details. In particular, this work
compares how people with different economic situations participate in the society, specifically
whether they try to help to solve problems in the community if they ask help from government
officials and etc. It also examines other factors like trust in the political system, trust in the election,
and believe that politicians listen to the needs of people. Many studies on different countries have
established that the greater economic status of the individuals corresponds to greater political
participation. Political commitment is quite rigidly subordinates to the following logic: a certain
social and economic position that evokes a sense of social and political competence generates a
certain level of political participation. Understanding political participation presupposes the ability

A Communicative Approach to Language Teaching
Communicative Approach to Language Teaching
Objective
The objective of this study is to examine the general context of the communicative approach in
language teaching and describe the key features of a communicatively innovative approach with a
focus on form and to describe in detail four central elements of an innovative and progressive
approach to second language teaching. This work will additionally discuss the challenges found in
relation to the application of these two elements.
Introduction
The work of Ellis (2000) reports, that Second Language Acquisition (SLA) ...is a sub discipline of
linguistics , stated to be a very young field of study. According to Ellis it is agreed upon by many
researchers in the field that ...the late sixties marked the onset of an intense period of empirical
and theoretical interest in how second languages are acquired. (2000) The work of O Laoire (nd)
reports that in recent years there has been a great deal of focus on learning the Irish language within
the context of immersion bilingual programs and that these type studies have emphasized the value
added cognitive dimension of studying Irish within an immersion education context with findings
that are consonant with bilingual programs elsewhere. (nd, p.1) However, it is reported as well
that a serious challenge is present for the learner of Irish due to ...the distribution of Irish speaking
networks. (O Laire, nd, p.1)

Similarities Between Bacterial Infections And Viral Fevers
Disease has become the most common threat to mankind in the past 20 years, with scientists
believing that with the world becoming more familiar with both unnatural and natural disasters
that disease will only rise. (Jasparro.C, Johnson Freese.J, 2014) (WHO, 2014). It can be
categorized into two main species; bacterial infections and viral fevers. The two genera pose as
the largest risks to humanity due to both having the ability to be contracted through various types
of transmission and cannot be treated without serious and specified medical aid. (Messenger, Ali.
M, Barnes, Amber. N, Gray, Gregory C, 2014). This review will discuss a number of studies
specifically in the genetic composition of both diseases and how each attacks the body, the
approaches involved in what makes Ebolanot only diverse from bacterial infections, though other
types of diseases in general, and will briefly discuss what the similarities between bacterial
infections and viral fevers are.
The Ebola virus is one of few viruses labelled into the haemorrhagic fever Filoviridae and is
classified as an RNA viral fever. Consequently, word filo originates from the Latin meaning
threadlike which structurally explains the physical appearance. (Weissenhorn, W. Dessen. A

Sex And The City Chapter 4
As the professor stated, chapter 4 is indeed an interesting chapter. While reading this chapter I
related it to the famous television show Sex and The City. This tv show depicts New York City
as the city that loves sex, fame and the social life. Dating nowadays is not the same, courting is
no longer a thing and one night stands has become even more popular. Both women and men
pay more attention to the status of the person, body figure, where he or she may reside, the
fancy clothes and so on rather than who the person is and getting to know them more. I know
many of us, including myself might get side tracked at become attracted to his or her body or
looks rather than the person physically. However, it is up to us to become focus again a make that
decision wether we are 100 percent attracted to the person not because of the riches and social
status that they possess. The preference that stood out to me the most was the presence for high

Our group is proposing the research question: Will violent video games bring out aggression in the
students that play them? Our hypothesis for this experiment is violent video games will trigger
aggression in students. The video games ranging from non violent to violent will act as our

A Brief Note On The Egyptian Health System Essay
3.1.Donors (Suppliers)
Blood donation occurs when a person voluntarily has blood drawn and used for transfusion.
Donation could be of whole blood which used rare now or of specific components directly. Blood
banks prepare and participate in blood collection campaigns and the followed procedures. Today in
developed countries, most blood donors are unpaid volunteers who donate blood for community
supply. Meanwhile, in developing countries, with the severe shortage of blood stock, donors are
paid money and received extra advantages such as: paid time off. The Egyptian health system
suffer s from a severe shortage in the blood donation supplies as announced by some Health
officials in Alexandria Blood bank approximately, every three seconds, there is a patient who
requires blood, thus there is an urgent need ranging between 2.5 to 3 million bags annually.
Tragically, only 60% of the country s needs are met, (Shafie, 2013). The following (Table 1) shows
the total blood donation during FY 2006 TO 2011.

Before the introduction of penicillin, arsenic was used in the treatment of syphilis. However, today
arsenic has been replaced by sulfa drugs and antibiotics. Recently, there has been a few studies
researching the curative effect of arsenic. Previously in Shanghai, China, a group of researchers

Haier Case Study
Haier Case Study
1. Discuss the primary reasons why Haier moves from a single and dominant business strategy to a
diversified strategy.
The single and dominant business strategy, which denote relatively low levels of diversification,
more fully diversified firms are classified into related and unrelated categories. A firm is related
through its diversification when there are several links between its business units; for example,
units may share products or services, technologies, or distribution channels. The more links among
businesses, the more constrained is the relatedness of diversification. Unrelateness refers to the
absence of direct links between businesses.

5) Another example of creating value by using a related diversification strategy was when Haier
applied innovation to product design and production from the Liebherr Corporation of Germany.
This strategic move created value by not only competing and expanding its product categories, but
also by creating market needs. (pg. 7) The activity sharing and market need helped create product
breakthroughs like washing machines that operated without detergent or water, and refrigerators
that needed no compressors. (pg. 8) Another example of creating value was when Haier entered a
strategic business alliance with Sanyo. Sanyo wanted to increase its competiveness in China taking
advantage of Haier s extensive distribution network, whereas Haier hoped to enter the Jampanese
market by utilizing Sanyo s distribution and service centres s. (pg. 12) In the end Zhang Ruimin
utilized this diversification strategy in an attempt to gain market power. B.Also discuss how Haier
can use unrelated diversification strategy to create value.
Zhang Ruimin recognized that pursuing strictly a related diversification strategy might make
Haier susceptible to failure. He states, This is a globalised era..., no single industry can survive.
(pg. 13) By the end of 2006, Haier s product portfolio had extended to include products ranging
from washing machines to mobile phones as well as pharmaceuticals and tourism. This wide range

Examples Of Actor Network Theory
The Actor Network Theory (ANT) is a social theory which treats objects as part of the overall
social network. This approach places emphasis on the capacity of nonhuman objects to interact
and even participate in various social networks and systems. The following information will
explain Actor Network Theory, provide examples of how it is believed to work, and explore the
relationship this theory has in regards to power and politics.
The Actor Network Theory Explained
This theory was developed by scholars Bruno Latour and Michel Callon. Sociologist John Law also
contributed to the theory. Humans and nonhumans are obviously not the same, but they can be
studied and observed in similar ways and can both be seen as actors influencing their environment.
Anything that makes a difference in the overall scheme of things can be considered an actor, or an
actant. Even though it is technically called a theory, ANT usually doesn t explain how or even why
a network emerges into the form that it does. Instead, ANT explores the intricate ties in a network.
In many ways it is more of a method than a theory. It describes how activities and habits can sustain
themselves while interacting with one another and working toward a common goal. Although ANT
is usually associated with science and technology, it has expanded into the field of sociology as ...

much more is involved than the people, or in this case, the politicians. Ideas and concepts play a
crucial role in the political process. Therefore, just like the previous example of the hospital, there
are lots of moving parts, hence, actors, involved in politics. There are people, places, and
communication mediums involved. Even getting a message out depends on a channel or venue

Biology Enzyme Experiement
An enzyme is a biological catalyst. It speeds up a reaction by lowering the activation energy
required to start the reaction. It speeds up a reaction, but remains unchanged unless certain limiting
factors are introduced. It is composed of polymers of amino acids. An enzyme has an optimum pH
and temperature. When an enzymeis at its optimum conditions, the rate of reaction is the fastest. In
their globular structure, one or more polypeptide chains twist and fold, bringing together a small
number of amino acids to form the active site, or the location on the enzyme where the substrate
binds and the reaction takes place. An enzyme has an active site, which has a unique shape into

My hypothesis is that the more acidic the milk is the faster it takes for the milk to curdle when
renin is added to it. As pH increases, enzyme activity increases until it reaches an optimal point in
which enzymes denatures and as pH increases, enzyme activity decreases.
Trends in this experiment don t make proper sense due to inaccurate measurements of the
temperature of the milk and inaccurate measurement of pH level. Though I can say that at pH
level 7 and 11 the time taken for the milk to curdle were really low and close, at pH level 8 the
time taken was high and at pH level 9 no result was taken maybe because the enzyme doesn t
function the at this particular pH level.
In conclusion my hypothesis was correct, the more acidic the milk the faster the time it takes for
the milk to curdle. Due to inaccurate measurement, correct results might not have been obtained
thus impacted on our results.

Pep Rally Argumentative Essay
Based on the criteria we set as a class, I determined that the Pep Rally went successful. A Pep
Rally is where we compete against other grade levels in order to win a prize. The prizes are
homework free for a week and having a week to listen to music during lunch. Although, in order
to receive this prize you must win the break down. A break down is when we stomp on the floor
to make sick beats. Each grade level gets a turn to participate the break down in other words,
who ever stomps the loudest wins! The criteria that I used to evaluate the SGMS Pep Rally was
Energy, Loud, Good Music, Games, and Performances/Visitors. One reason why the Pep Rally
went successful is Energy. Although, teachers didn t seem to have that much energy at the Pep
Rally. But, the whole students had a lot of energy they just wanna go KABOOM. During, the Pep
Rally students were jumping on the bleachers cheering for their Team. Also, teachers and students
were screaming saying their favorite quote THIS IS OUR HOUSE !!!. Lastly, students were
stomping as Loud as thunder where they can make their team better than any other grade levels.
Another, reason that the Pep Rally went successful is Performances or Visitors. Now we didn t
have any Performances or Visitors that came to SGMS because in my opinion I think maybe their

Analysis Of The Story Going Back Home
As people journey through life, they discover many qualities they hold that make them unique and
interesting. These qualities differentiate them from others, and help form their identity. In the
stories we have read in class, such as Going Back Home , written by Toyomi Igus and Michele
Wood, Nei Um Lung, Ma? by May Yee, and The Jade Peony by Wayson Choy, the characters
hobbies, beliefs, and familyroots make them unique and interesting. Due to many factors, including
different experiences in life, an individual develops many aspects in their identity that are different
from others.
Hobbies, which are adopted and changed throughout one s life, express who an individual is.
There are many different reasons as to why people adopt hobbies. It may be a way to pass the
time, to express their likes and dislikes, or a way for them to channel their emotions. In the story
Going Back Home , the narrator explains how the painter, Michelle Wood, expressed her life and
her ancestors lives through her art. She created self portraits to show different aspects of her life,
her grandparents lives, and a blue musician s life, utilizing the colours, patterns, and objects to
depict their hardships, culture, and opportunities. The house and fence represent the foundations of
my past. The boards are my life lessons the crooked ones are the tragedies and the hardships. I am

Negative Effects Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase formed both negative and positive impacts for President Jefferson and the
expansion of the United States; dealing with both agricultural and economic reasons. On April 30th,
1803 the United states representatives paid fifteen million dollars to the French for over eight
hundred twenty eight thousand square miles of their territory. This segment of land stretched from
the Mississippi river to Rocky Mountains, and also from the Gulf of Mexico to Canada. Both
negative views of the Louisiana purchasereflected ill on President Jefferson. In the writing of the

Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or
in any Department or Officer thereof. In other words, giving the government power to use the
national bank to carry out taxation on the United states. Jefferson believed that the constitution
held no power. Thus, Jefferson tried to buy the smallest area (mainly New Orleans and most
Louisiana) of the Purchase to hold a buffer zone between the United States and France, just as
Georgia was the buffer zone between Spain and the United States. He proposed an offer of two

Literary Techniques Used In The Book Thief
1.What literary devices does Marcus Zusak employ in The Book Thief to engage his readers and

techniques including imagery, symbolism, personification and characterisation to explore what it is

Zusak personifies Death and creates a character that is sympathetic, slightly cynical, yet humorous.
This allows for the narrator Death to become one of the most prominent characters and share similar
to attributes to the main characters. The personality of death is not cold and malicious, instead the
author surprises the reader by creating a character that is warm and sympathetic to the characters he
follows. Like the dead, he is a victim to circumstance and he frequently questions his purpose and
the intentions of his creator, much like the human characters do. By having a personified narrator
with similar attributes and intentions as the human characters, it allows for the audience to
understand the purpose of death. Death s prominence during that time with the concentration
camps, battlefields, disease, and starvation, makes the cold cruelty an emphasize to the setting
which the reader cannot forget. Even in parts of the novel where the worries of the war and
conflict are forgotten and Liesel lives the life of a seemingly ordinary child, Death is present.
Suggesting that he knows everything that all the characters know if not more. He becomes both an
insightful narrator and a constant foreshadowing device. He delivers uncomfortable and sometimes
upsetting news in a straightforward way that sometimes forces the reader to contemplate universal
ideas such as death. In the second paragraph of the novel, he

On Monday, April 13th, 2009, I visited the Culver City city council meeting, and found that they

38,000, this type of governmental structure is fairly common, and I was not surprised to see it in
action in a community where the median household income is around $56,000 a year. Culver City
is also a culturally rich community with a 60 percent Caucasian population, and a quarter of the
residents are either of African American or Asian decent. The mayor, D. Scott Malsin, is one of

Approval of Professional Services Agreements with Associated Soils Engineering, Inc., Geo

process of awarding geotechnical service agreements to particular firms, and that the amounts given

similar fears. Silbiger suggested that instead of contracting out a consultant, he wondered if there

Present Day Spain Research Paper
In the 1400s, what is now known as present day Spain, was quite different from how it is today.
The land was divided into three kingdoms: Castile, Aragon and Portugal. The region had a variety
of religions and cultures such as Islam, Christianity, and Catholicism. (Walbert) This time period
was when the Reconquista occurred, also known as Spains Golden Age. Isabella and Ferdinand
played a major role in the Reconquista. They transformed most of what is now present day Spain
and spread the Catholic religion throughout Europe. Isabella and Ferdinand are considered two of
the most influential Spanish Monarchs in history.

to the conquest. (The Conquest of Granada) He was easily overtaken by the Christian troops
because his kingdom was in a civil war, rebelling

They strive best in cool climates with some moisture. They need well drained, loamy and fertile
soil to grow sufficiently. These conditions make Canadian grounds a very difficult place to grow
mustard. Since we have a climate that fluctuates between seasons, the only months that we are
able to host the breeding of mustard is in the fall seasons. This time period is not enough for
mustard to grow to its maximum potential and is far from efficient. After conducting some
research, I do not believe that Canadian farmers should continue to grow mustard because it is
putting a strain on the Canadian economy. This is because farmers who are planting mustard are
not receiving high rates of crop returns due to the unfavourable climate conditions, as a result they
are not able to supply the anticipated amounts of mustard and can not earn their maximum profit.
Canadian governments are gaining a bad reputation from the mustard shortage because the
demanded amount of mustard is not being satisfied with the scarce supply of mustard.
Consumers are also also upset because prices of mustard are higher than what it was before this
mustard crisis, therefore many want the product, but are not able to afford it. Businesses are also
angry because they now have to pay more for the price of mustard and have to compete against
other businesses for the supply of mustard and are losing consumers because they are being pushed
to raise the prices of their goods. Therefore, they are not able to meet their maximum potential
because mustard is at disequilibrium, since demand exceeds

friends are ranked based on their usefulness, closeness and truthfulness. I agree with the writer as
the usefulness of friends can determine their level of significance in one s life. Firstly, a friend
who has the capability to provide the help required for another would be perceived as more
noteworthy. For instance, imagine if Bill Gates offered to be your pal and forked out ten million

literally means to pacify or conciliate (Hallock, Stephanie, The World in the 20th Century, 06 05
2016, p 82). It is also defined by the words of Chamberlain in September 1938, As long as a war
has not begun there is always hope that it may be prevented and you know that I am going to work
for peace to the last moment (Hallock, Stephanie, The World in the 20th Century, 06 05 2016, p
82). The words summarize the core of the ideas and thoughts behind appeasement. Although rooted
in good intentions, appeasement sparked controversy in the 20th Century due to its effects on the
Treaty of Versailles and political stance. The most significant moment of history which led to...

After the Great War, the Treaty of Versailles was signed. There were many rules imposed on
Germany in this treaty. Once Germany began to break the Treaty of Versailles, this gave rise to
appeasement. Germany started rebuilding its military. The Treaty of Versailles was disregarded
by Germany based on those actions. Moreover, Germany took control of Rhineland. This was yet
another event that broke the treaty. Also, Germany took over Austria and parts of Czechoslovakia.
As Germany continued to break the treaty, the other nations decide to appease Germany. The
Great War was devastating and the other countries were committed to seeking peaceful resolutions
at the time (CITE). The policy of appeasement was used as a chance to preserve peace. It was
highly controversial, as it allowed Germany to break the Treaty of Versailles without repercussion.
Germany was making further and further advancements in its own personal motive. Appeasement
was sighted to be controversial because, in retrospection, Germany was allowed to get out of
control. Many of Germany s surround

The White Witch Alternate Ending Essay
The White Witch is back for her Throne One lovely snowy morning Remi had just woken up and
looked very blissful on this great planned Saturday. Remi put her pink slippers on and opened the
closet door very quietly and got her blue dress out and layed on her bed Remi turned around and
jumped on Olivia , Olivia jerked up and screamed. Ethan and Eli ran into the room because they
heard the scream. Remi said that ВЁshe jumped on Olivia and she go scared ВЁ. Remi had a
little smile on her face and Ethan ran after her down the steps and back up the steps for awhile
and he finally caught her and started tickling her. Everyone finally got dressed. ВЁ Children

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Housemaids
Introduction For this project, I investigate the current debate surrounding the idea of keeping
housemaids with children for purposes; such as, taking care of the children and serving them is
a good or bad idea. Besides, because our values and norms are changed; as well as, our behaviors
and thoughts are changed by technology and globalization. In the past, there were no housemaids
and the parents have to serve themselves; in contrast, now, both parents are working, so they need
somebody to help them at home and to look after their children. However, with all advantages of
housemaids, everything has a negative side and housemaids also have disadvantages. This research
will examine this on a global or international scope. The aim of the research... Show more content

The sub reasons are parents don t know to deal with children as this research stated that housemaids
know things about the children more than their parents. Besides, this research reported that
housemaid was treating the child harshly, that is because housemaids see this work as a job to have
money which means they are not parents.
Conclusion/Recommendations
To conclude, leaving the children with housemaids can create problems; for example, they will
make unethical behaviors, they will be close to the children more than their parents and they will
impact the children s language.
However, you can solve those problems by putting your children in daycare or nursery school
where can play and interact with other children instead of picking up a new language or bad
behaviors. The second solution is living with a big family that children can communicate more with
people from same beliefs and behaviors. The last solution, if the parents decide to have children,
one of them has to scarify and leave the

Switchback Changed My Life-Personal Narrative
As we were loading up to leave for Switchback Raceway on February 8th, 2015, I was under the
impression that it was just going to be another typical day dedicated to dirtbikes. Little did I
know that I would be waiting by my boyfriend s bedside for the next 8 days at UPMC
Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. I ve always admired Hank, he stole my heart from the start with his
shy yet bold personality. But, after watching him endure a potentially life threatening injury, he s
more than just admirable; he s one of the strongest people I know and I will be forever grateful
for having him in my life. After watching him hit the ground after losing control of his dirt bike
from 25ft in the air, I sprinted over to him and when I got there he was looking up to me smiling,
hi, babe he said. Hearing those two simple words was beyond relieving and I thought to myself
for a split second that he was okay and good to go. You could say I thought... Show more content on

February 9th. We watch the nurses prep him for the surgery he s about to endure. I hardly know
what to do with myself, between the constant shaking and crying, I am a mess. I try my best to
be strong for him and keep telling myself everything will be okay. We find ourselves again,
waiting not so patiently for more news. 4 hours later, surgery is over and we are speaking with
his surgeon. Thankfully everything went well, metal screws and rods were put in and he s
good as new again; except, not so much. Not following directions during recovery could result in
paralyzation, that scares me. I can not worry, though. That s the worst thing I can do. Each day
following has a new goal to be completed on the road to recovery. He struggled with some but
was doing fairly well. Issues appeared at the same time he was progressing, he had trouble
urinating, eating, and taking long, deep breaths to prevent getting pneumonia. After 8 long days
he is released to go home. He was on a very speedy road to recovery, and none of us could be

Horn Of The Dragons Band
Community Service is a way to help others meet their needs. It is important for people to help
their neighbors so a community can be strong and successful. By helping doing community
service one can also learn new skills to help enhance one s education. The organization that I
frequently volunteer my time for is Summit Academy North High School s very own Horn of the
Dragons Band. The band is a large group of students, 98 to be exact, with only one teacher. To be
a successful band, they need volunteers to do multiple things. When working with the group I
could be collecting money at car washes, setting up baskets at a bowling fundraiser, or loading up
cars with flower baskets, all things that could be useful in a future career. The most

Misguided Rationale
The truth is not always present in the news. Reporters make mistakes, but when that wrong
information gets to spread the problem begins. The media is in a race on putting out information.
The danger is that there is no checking to make sure the information is true. Media is in a cycle of
the news getting a hold of an alternative fact, the media spreading it, a powerful sourcerestating the
information, and the general audience seeing that story as fact. That information can then be turned
into political policies and ideologies. When the person that are spreading the wrong facts gets
challenged with the truth, they tend to a backlash towards the critic. They refuse to admit to their
mistake deepening the misguided rationale behind their fact.... Show more content on

Gladstone spent the reading illustrating how false news gets spread. Facts can be giving because
they are catchy. This does not make them accurate. When a powerful source gets the fake news,
that is when there is a problem. Technology increases the likelihood of alternative facts being
caught. There is a problem when the person who spoke the information refuses to admit their
mistake. Gladstone uses the example of Lou Dobbs to show this point ( Gladstone 54). He stated
that if we reported it, it s a fact when confronted with the inaccurate numbers he used in his report.
Trump does a similar argument when confronted with his wrong information. Bill O Rielly pointed
out that Trump was wrong when he stated that thousands of Muslims were seen celebrating after 9
/11. Trump refused to admit his mistake, but instead used a Breitbart article that agreed with him
as his defense (Oliver). This shows that people are after the news the want to hear. Breitbart is not
thought of as a reliable source, but they stated Trump was correct so he used them as fact. Trump
and Dobbs both did not want to admit to their mistakes. They both saw what they said as true, even
when others showed them the

Western Vs Alternative Medicine For Western Medicine
Rakalah R. Ravariere
Scotland Harris
English I
Imagine this, you ve just had another visit to your Doctor and been told yet again that your
condition hasn t improved and may even be getting worse. There is nothing they can recommend
for you. You ve had all the tests, they ve diagnosed your condition, but the only thing they can
offer you is a drug that may help relieve your symptoms. And possibly only for the short term at
that. Having family in Dominica I always hear how I should drink different varieties of bush tea in
order to cure sicknesses. Majority of the islands and other countries use traditional Chinese
medicines in order to cure sicknesses like the common cold the flu and other things. And I they
need a major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Western Medicine focuses on dealing with the symptoms of the disease in many cases and
treatment suppresses these, rather than curing the problem. This can lead to a lifetime need for
drug therapy.
A one size fits all approach if you are diagnosed with a particular condition you will be prescribed
a particular type of Drug e.g. if you have raised cholesterol you will probably be given a stronger.
Dosing and regimen is standardized this is ok for the majority of patients. But you may fall outside
the norm and therefore the treatment doesn t work as well for you or you have tolerability problems.
Treatment with conventional medicine in many countries is very expensive and without access to
health insurance can be out of the reach of many. Even in countries where there is free access to
health care, certain Drugs or treatments may not be available, due to the local health care services
being unable to pay for them.
The modern focus on disease and the time and other pressures many physicians are under means
that sometimes the patient can feel like they are on a treatment treadmill and not being listened to.
Alternative Medicine The Pros
Most alternative medicine practices work to restore balance to the body. This allows the body to
heal itself. This holistic approach can often impact positively on other aspects of the patient s life.

Wonder Woman has struggled for years to get off the ground even with her invisible jet. She has had this ongoing struggle because of her constant comparison with her male counterparts such as Batman, Superman, and the Flash. Although superheroes are fictional they all have their own unique backstories. Wonder Woman has a very different backstory than her male counterparts. Wonder Woman was born onto Paradise Island to her mother Hippolyta. Wonder Woman s given name was Diana, and this what she was called her entire life on the island with the other Amazon women. Wonder Woman then found her way into the human world whenever a pilot named Steve Trevor crashes onto her island, and she wins the rights to escort him back home. One of her male counterpart Superman was born on the planet of Krypton, but his parents sent him out into space as their planet was being destroyed. Superman eventually wound up crashing into earth, and being raised by a farming couple instead of his biological parents. The farming couple would raise the boy by the name Clark Kent. • 8. The Sweet Hereafter Film Analysis The Sweet Hereafter, directed by Atom Egoyan, is a film about the devastation caused by a bus crash in a small Canadian community that killed many of the town s children. Like many of Egoyan s works, this film indicates his directorial style by using film techniques that place the audience in the characters shoes. Egoyan uses nonlinear timelines, motifs and music, along with his great use of camera work, mise en scene, and voice over, to present the plot in a way that engages the audience and leaves an impression long after the filmhas finished. A scene in the film that shows these techniques is the Deposition Hearing Scene. This scene is critical to the rest of the film because it helps the viewers understand Nicole s character and how she feels towards her father. By having Nicole lie about the bus crash, Nicole is released from the abusive power of her father, Sam. In this scene, at first, Nicole seems vulnerable, but as the scene continues, the audience and character s views of her change. During the deposition hearing, film techniques help in revealing that Nicole is lying about what happened during the bus crash. The camera pans slowly to show the interview. This makes the atmosphere seem tense and as there is also no background noise in this part of the scene, it seems like a very serious moment of the film. As the scene progresses the smooth panning camera shots changes to quick, choppy cuts between Nicole, Sam, and Mitchell. This indicates to the audience that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Underlying Assumptions Of Consumer Sovereignty Theory Consumer sovereignty is the theory that consumers are the main elements in the economy because they exert ultimate control over the economy. Through their spending decisions, individual consumers ultimately determine the quantities and qualities of goods and services produced and the availability of these goods and services in time and space. An example of consumer sovereignty is illustrated as follows: A drinks company introduces two types of drinks in two continents: Drink A and Drink B. Drink A sells very well in Africa and Drink B in Asia. Only the one that sells well in Africa (Drink A) will remain in production in Africa whilst the one that sells well in Asia (Drink B) will remain in production in Asia. Continuing to produce Drink B in Africa and Drink A in Asia is not economically viable as the consumers in these regions do not prefer it. Thus, through their purchasing pattern, the consumers have influenced what goods continue to remain in production. The underlying assumptions of consumer sovereignty theory in an ideal market are: i.That the consumers are rational and try to make choices that maximize their utility ii. That consumers have all the information needed to make the optimal choice iii. That consumers are able to purchase goods and services in a competitive marketplace Based on the above, consumer sovereignty in healthcare would imply that society benefits at large when healthcare providers and organizations compete to develop high quality products and ... Since the beginning of time racism has occurred, but during the Great Depression this lens was most clear to all. This goes hand in hand with the story of To Kill a Mockingbird , written by Harper Lee. This book is based on Lee s childhood during the Depression. Some of the characters in the story are portrayed in her actual life; Atticus is based off her father who was also a lawyer, Dill was in reference of her friend Truman Capote, and Jean Louise is referring to Lee herself telling the story of her life experiences (Baddeley). Not only do Lee s accomplishments for the book interpret ethos, within the novel there are quotes that illustrate credibility. One speech, in particular, is the one Atticus gives in trail while talking to Mayella Ewell about tempting a negro . Atticus stated, She was white, and she tempted a Negro. She did something that in our society is unspeakable: she kissed a black man (Lee 272). By stating this in front of the jury, it shows his authority over the people to pull their attention to the situation at hand; along with the ethos used in that statement, Atticus uses emotion to make the jury feel the pain. Pathos is yet another appeal Harper Lee incorporated to allure the audience to understand what she went through when she was younger. Throughout To Kill a Mockingbird, Lee applies pathos to encourage the readers to feel the emotions she faced during her childhood. Harper Lee tells the story through Jean Louise s standpoint, a young girl living in the time of the Depression. By doing this, the readers see more of an innocent perspective and observe the emotions Jean and the people withstand, midst the Depression to emotionally provoke the reader to feel bad for what they went through. One event in particular that draws in the reader is the final speech made by Atticus at the end of the trial against Tom Robinson. With this in mind, it is my intention to provide the reader with a general history of events that led to the formation of the Nicolet National Forest of northern Wisconsin. In order to do so, I found it necessary to begin with the early explorations of such notables as James Cartier, Samuel de Champlain, and Jean Nicolet. These French explorers blazed a path that enabled the settling of the territories now know as Wisconsin. Men like them embodied the new era of exploration that was gripping the European nations with the quest for empire, trade, and the advancement of Christianity, leading the way. I have determined that the end point of my discussion will be the years leading up to World War II. People needed work, and the government was searching for ways to put them to work. Forming and nurturing the growth of a National Forest was the ideal answer for thousands. Dating nowadays is not the same, courting is no longer a thing and one night stands has become even more popular. The single and dominant business strategy, which denote relatively low levels of diversification, more fully diversified firms are classified into related and unrelated categories. A firm is related through its diversification when there are several links between its business units; for example, units may share products or services, technologies, or distribution channels. The more links among businesses, the more constrained is the relatedness of diversification. • 30. Examples Of Actor Network Theory The Actor Network Theory (ANT) is a social theory which treats objects as part of the overall social network. This approach places emphasis on the capacity of nonhuman objects to interact and even participate in various social networks and systems. The following information will explain Actor Network Theory, provide examples of how it is believed to work, and explore the relationship this theory has in regards to power and politics. The Actor Network Theory Explained This theory was developed by scholars Bruno Latour and Michel Callon. Sociologist John Law also contributed to the theory. Humans and nonhumans are obviously not the same, but they can be studied and observed in similar ways and can both be seen as actors influencing their environment. Anything that makes a difference in the overall scheme of things can be considered an actor, or an actant. Even though it is technically called a theory, ANT usually doesn t explain how or even why a network emerges into the form that it does. Instead, ANT explores the intricate ties in a network. In many ways it is more of a method than a theory. It describes how activities and habits can sustain themselves while interacting with one another and working toward a common goal. Like the dead, he is a victim to circumstance and he frequently questions his purpose and the intentions of his creator, much like the human characters do. By having a personified narrator with similar attributes and intentions as the human characters, it allows for the audience to understand the purpose of death. This time period is not enough for mustard to grow to its maximum potential and is far from efficient. • 46. Advantage And Disadvantage Of Housemaids Introduction For this project, I investigate the current debate surrounding the idea of keeping housemaids with children for purposes; such as, taking care of the children and serving them is a good or bad idea. Besides, because our values and norms are changed; as well as, our behaviors and thoughts are changed by technology and globalization. In the past, there were no housemaids and the parents have to serve themselves; in contrast, now, both parents are working, so they need somebody to help them at home and to look after their children. However, with all advantages of housemaids, everything has a negative side and housemaids also have disadvantages. This research will examine this on a global or international scope. The aim of the research... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sub reasons are parents don t know to deal with children as this research stated that housemaids know things about the children more than their parents. Besides, this research reported that housemaid was treating the child harshly, that is because housemaids see this work as a job to have money which means they are not parents. Conclusion/Recommendations To conclude, leaving the children with housemaids can create problems; for example, they will make unethical behaviors, they will be close to the children more than their parents and they will impact the children s language. However, you can solve those problems by putting your children in daycare or nursery school where can play and interact with other children instead of picking up a new language or bad behaviors. The second solution is living with a big family that children can communicate more with people from same beliefs and behaviors. The last solution, if the parents decide to have children, one of them has to scarify and leave the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Switchback Changed My Life-Personal Narrative As we were loading up to leave for Switchback Raceway on February 8th, 2015, I was under the impression that it was just going to be another typical day dedicated to dirtbikes. Little did I know that I would be waiting by my boyfriend s bedside for the next 8 days at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. I ve always admired Hank, he stole my heart from the start with his shy yet bold personality. But, after watching him endure a potentially life threatening injury, he s more than just admirable; he s one of the strongest people I know and I will be forever grateful for having him in my life. After watching him hit the ground after losing control of his dirt bike from 25ft in the air, I sprinted over to him and when I got there he was looking up to me smiling, hi, babe he said. Hearing those two simple words was beyond relieving and I thought to myself for a split second that he was okay and good to go. You could say I thought... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... February 9th. We watch the nurses prep him for the surgery he s about to endure. I hardly know what to do with myself, between the constant shaking and crying, I am a mess. I try my best to be strong for him and keep telling myself everything will be okay. We find ourselves again, waiting not so patiently for more news. 4 hours later, surgery is over and we are speaking with his surgeon. Thankfully everything went well, metal screws and rods were put in and he s good as new again; except, not so much. Not following directions during recovery could result in paralyzation, that scares me. I can not worry, though. That s the worst thing I can do. Each day following has a new goal to be completed on the road to recovery. He struggled with some but was doing fairly well. Issues appeared at the same time he was progressing, he had trouble urinating, eating, and taking long, deep breaths to prevent getting pneumonia. After 8 long days he is released to go home. He was on a very speedy road to recovery, and none of us could be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Horn Of The Dragons Band Community Service is a way to help others meet their needs. It is important for people to help their neighbors so a community can be strong and successful. By helping doing community service one can also learn new skills to help enhance one s education. The organization that I frequently volunteer my time for is Summit Academy North High School s very own Horn of the Dragons Band. The band is a large group of students, 98 to be exact, with only one teacher. To be a successful band, they need volunteers to do multiple things. When working with the group I could be collecting money at car washes, setting up baskets at a bowling fundraiser, or loading up cars with flower baskets, all things that could be useful in a future career. • 49. Misguided Rationale The truth is not always present in the news. Reporters make mistakes, but when that wrong information gets to spread the problem begins. The media is in a race on putting out information. The danger is that there is no checking to make sure the information is true. Media is in a cycle of the news getting a hold of an alternative fact, the media spreading it, a powerful sourcerestating the information, and the general audience seeing that story as fact. That information can then be turned into political policies and ideologies. When the person that are spreading the wrong facts gets challenged with the truth, they tend to a backlash towards the critic. They refuse to admit to their mistake deepening the misguided rationale behind their fact.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gladstone spent the reading illustrating how false news gets spread. Facts can be giving because they are catchy. This does not make them accurate. When a powerful source gets the fake news, that is when there is a problem. Technology increases the likelihood of alternative facts being caught. There is a problem when the person who spoke the information refuses to admit their mistake. Gladstone uses the example of Lou Dobbs to show this point ( Gladstone 54). He stated that if we reported it, it s a fact when confronted with the inaccurate numbers he used in his report. Trump does a similar argument when confronted with his wrong information. Bill O Rielly pointed out that Trump was wrong when he stated that thousands of Muslims were seen celebrating after 9 /11. Trump refused to admit his mistake, but instead used a Breitbart article that agreed with him as his defense (Oliver). This shows that people are after the news the want to hear. Breitbart is not thought of as a reliable source, but they stated Trump was correct so he used them as fact. Trump and Dobbs both did not want to admit to their mistakes. They both saw what they said as true, even when others showed them the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Western Vs Alternative Medicine For Western Medicine Rakalah R. Ravariere Scotland Harris English I Imagine this, you ve just had another visit to your Doctor and been told yet again that your condition hasn t improved and may even be getting worse. There is nothing they can recommend for you. You ve had all the tests, they ve diagnosed your condition, but the only thing they can offer you is a drug that may help relieve your symptoms. And possibly only for the short term at that. Having family in Dominica I always hear how I should drink different varieties of bush tea in order to cure sicknesses. Majority of the islands and other countries use traditional Chinese medicines in order to cure sicknesses like the common cold the flu and other things. And I they need a major ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Western Medicine focuses on dealing with the symptoms of the disease in many cases and treatment suppresses these, rather than curing the problem. This can lead to a lifetime need for drug therapy. A one size fits all approach if you are diagnosed with a particular condition you will be prescribed a particular type of Drug e.g. if you have raised cholesterol you will probably be given a stronger. Dosing and regimen is standardized this is ok for the majority of patients. But you may fall outside the norm and therefore the treatment doesn t work as well for you or you have tolerability problems. Treatment with conventional medicine in many countries is very expensive and without access to health insurance can be out of the reach of many. Even in countries where there is free access to health care, certain Drugs or treatments may not be available, due to the local health care services being unable to pay for them. The modern focus on disease and the time and other pressures many physicians are under means that sometimes the patient can feel like they are on a treatment treadmill and not being listened to. Alternative Medicine The Pros Most alternative medicine practices work to restore balance to the body. This allows the body to heal itself. This holistic approach can often impact positively on other aspects of the patient s life. Alternative Medicine and Alternative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
