Call Of Duty Essay
Game Review 8:
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
This game is the real modern future warfare. The game has a very high defined and a large variety
of guns to choose from. Call of duty games have always delivered a simulation of a real feel of a
modern day battle field, in its series. This particular version is a representation of a battlefield in
2065, the field is dominated by unimaginable war machines, if you are a call of duty series enthuse
you know that the soldier on your team is usually the best friend in these games with his warnings
and his directives. The most noticeable difference in this version is that every aspect of this game is
fine tuned for Co op play, right from the highly advanced war technological fighters to the zombie

This highly advanced backpack allows a player to perform spectacular stunts; you can use the
pack to fly high. The pack also comes in handy when you are looking for a quick escape from
danger. Another benefit of the thruster pack, is that all its inputs are easily controllable using just a
single button hence you avoid distraction, and have the right time to completely destroy your
enemy or make a swift escape from them.
The games graphics are highly detailed; this makes the missions more captivating. There are two
breakout missions, to create a new experience far from the other styles of play. You have the option
to alternate between dogfighting in a jet and battling enemies on foot. The other involves hacking
into someone s mind and fighting the memories of a long past battle. Both represent Call of Duty at
its best: big showpiece missions that feel distinct both in style and in the challenges you face. But
they re ultimately stones striking a pond, their ripples lost to the stillness. On the whole, this
campaign is very one note, albeit one that sounds better in concert.
Call of Duty: Black Ops is a spectacular modern warfare game, to enjoy the game better is when
you play with a friend either online or you called a friend over, as the multiplayer style is
particularly maximized in this

Data Privacy On Ethical Online Business
Introduction
In a few decades time, computers will be interwoven into almost every industrial product , said
computer scientist pioneer Karl Steinbuch in 1966. Steinbuch s prediction couldn t be closer to the
truth. Today we see the Internet of Things (IoT), which is the concept that modern devices are
provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring
any human to human or human to computer interaction (Rouse, 2014). Wireless technologies, the
internet, and various other types of computer networks have converged to form the IoTs as we
know it. The Internet of Things is a complex technical and policy related subject, and impacts
everything from politics and the environment, to society and the economy. Before delving into the
implication of data privacy on ethical online business, one must understand what the two respective
terms mean. Privacy is defined as the ability of an individual or group to seclude themselves or
information about themselves and thereby express themselves selectively (Roux, 2012). The right
to privacy is explicitly stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and declared by the
U.S. Supreme Court as a right implicitly granted by the Constitution. Though privacy is viewed as a
necessary right, with the onset of the internet and tracking cookies, privacy has become more
difficult to maintain for online businesses.
Business ethics is the study of how to behave as individuals in business ,

What would you do in a situation of a natural disaster with no resources, alone with no hope? A lot
of people are scared from all of this commotions, fearing of no hope, losing lives even loved ones.

they will need help. Since the earthquake, the Philippine red cross, with the supports of international

Phobias and the Brain Essay
Phobias and the Brain
You are in an airport waiting for your plane to arrive. You ve never flown before, and are more
terrified than you can ever remember being. Everyone has told you the supposedly comforting
statistics millions of planes take off each day and there s only a handful of crashes, flying is safer
than driving. You know rationally that there is no reason to be so scared, but regardless your heart
is racing, your palms are sweating, and you re light headed. Simply the thought of being up in the
air, out of control, makes you feel faint. Finally the flight attendant announces that your plane has
arrived. But as all the other passengers line up to get onboard, you grab your luggage and walk
straight out of the airport, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(3) Women are two to three times as likely to have phobias than men. There are three basic kinds
of phobias: agoraphobia (fear of situations in which escape may be difficult), social phobia, and
specific phobias. The DSM IV has separated phobic stimuli into four basic categories: animal,
situational, blood injury, and nature environment. (3)
Though the experience of phobias is relatively common and their physical characteristics are
generally well understood, there is no real consensus on the neurobiological basis of phobias.
Instead, there are currently several different models and theories that work to try to understand
how and why phobias occur in the human brain. Most hypotheses regarding phobias take a
different approach, from biological to psychoanalytic to evolutionary. Is there one model that
seems less wrong or more satisfying in our efforts to understand the biology of phobias? Using the
various models, how do phobias seem to come about? How does thinking about phobias add to our
understanding of the brain and behavior?
The classical conditioning model was one of the first theories used to describe phobias. Many
years ago, scientists observed that one could willingly elicit a fear response in an animal or human
through systematic teaching. For example, if every time a rat is presented with a low buzzing
noise, it is electrically shocked, eventually, when it hears the noise alone (with no shock), it will
exhibit symptoms of fear. (3) Scientists

Aviation Industry plays an important role in the economic growth of anation. It not only promotes
international trade but also provides an effective and fastest means of transportation across the

My favourite scene with the 2 of them was near the end when there in concert singing Ring of Fire
. It s one of my favourite Johnny Cash songs and these 2 managed to convince me with this
performance that they were actually John and June. Without these 2 actors I don t think this movie
would have been as remarkable as they managed to make it.
One film that was very close to this one was last years highly famous, Ray . The biography of
blind musician ray Charles. Both are high profile motion pictures about major recording stars
who recently died (Cash passed away in 2003, four months after the death of his wife, June
Carter). The music the 2 of them play is different, but there are very similar plot fundamentals,
among which are drug use. Walk the Line I think is a better film. It s put together with more
style, and it never seems to get boring, unlike Ray which near the end seems to drag on for a bit.
Ray had much more fantasy as opposed to Walk the Line which was all completely based on
Cash s own words. This movie also has a powerful plotline that Ray didn t, a love story! To me,
that s what made this film much better than Ray .
Overall I really enjoyed this movie; the only thing I want to complain about is the lack of Bob
Dylan. It is a known fact that Dylan single handedly revived Cash s career, yet they only mention
him a few times throughout the

The Stoop Effect of Interference
The Stroop Effect Since birth, we are taught that certain words are connected with certain ideas.
For example, the word R E D is associated with the color of the wavelength of light from
approximately 620 740 nm on the electromagnetic spectrum (Bohren (2006)) or in simpler terms,
the color of stop signs, roses or strawberries. What if after you have connected the word RED to
this certain color, the word changed to A H P A H, a nonsense syllable? Kline (1921) created a
law that says: If a is already connected with b, then it is difficult to connect it with k, b gets in
the way. In the example above, anyone who is accustomed R E D being associated with the
color red, would have difficulty connecting the color red to AHPAH. This law is not just specific
for colors. Any example involving concepts or routines makes sense in the law. In Stroop s
(1935) interference article, it was discovered that there is more interference in color naming
then color reading. The experiment described in the article tested whether there was more
interference from words or from colors (Stroop 1935). Two tests were administered each with a
separate control. The RCNd test determined how fast one could read color names where the
color was different from the color name while the NCWd test determined how fast one could
name colors where the color was different from the word on the page. The mean time for 100
responses increased from 63.3 seconds on the RCNd test to 110.3 seconds on the NCWd test or an

Transcendence in Marilynne Robinson’s Housekeeping Essay
Transcendence in Marilynne Robinson s Housekeeping
William H. Burke suggests that transience in Marilynne Robinson s Housekeeping is a type of
pilgrimage, and that the rigors and self denials of the transient life are necessary spiritual
conditioning for the valued crossing from the experience of a world of loss and fragmentation to
the perception of a world that is whole and complete (717). The world of reality in Housekeeping is
one fragmented, isolated, and arbitrary as glimpses one has at night through lighted windows
(Robinson 50). Many of the characters that precede Ruth in the narrative rebel against something in
this world that is not right. Edmund Foster, her grandfather, escapes by train to the Midwest and his

Nor will they, like Edmund and Helen, submit to a premature death in the water; instead they pursue
a spiritual transience that will lead them to an earthly state of transcendent grace.
The thoughts and emotions that occur in connection with water are triggered by the lake, and
they help Ruth choose transience over any other form of existence. When water floods
Fingerbone, the boundaries are overrun, exposing the impermanence of the physical world, and
the world s own natural push towards transience. Water shifts the margins, warning us that the
visible world only shows us part of the whole or perhaps even a mere reflection of a false reality.
After the fantastic train wreck in which Ruth s grandfather perished, the lake sealed itself over
in ice, changing boundaries again, while it concealed, like a secret, the last traces of the victims
with the illusion of its calm surface. The lake, a source of beauty and darkness, life and death, is
the accumulated past, which vanishes but does not vanish, which perishes and remains (172).
Water carries the symbolic possibility for rebirth the flood causes the graves in the town cemetery
to sink, so that they looked a little like...empty bellies, suggesting that the dead were born into the
receding waters (62). As water and death are so pre eminent in Sylvie s consciousness, in dream,

Meaning Of Respect In Confucius
As time goes by, respect is being lost and forgotten. Even the definition of respect seems to be a
bit muddied. Many people are forgetting the one golden rule that still applies. The golden rule
being treat others the way you would want to be treated. People nowadays tend to turn respect
towards things that are worthy of praise and they are forgetting to keep the same respectto
everything else. No matter the color of someone s skin, the religion they believe in, and where they
come from everyone deserves and should get respect, in Confucius s teachings, as a basic human
element and many Asian countries, respect is a major characteristic and etiquette that people are
learning and quickly forgetting.

To Dorothy Sonnet 130 Analysis
Stirling McKelvie Mrs. Ivey AP English IV 18 April 2015 Poetic Analysis It is a rarity for one
find poetry that recognizes that the object of one s affection is far from perfection. For instance,
My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun (sonnet 130) is a sonnet written by William
Shakespeare in the year of 1609 that appears to be filled with insults directed to his lover, but in
the end, he expresses his deep and genuine affection for her. This poem relates to To Dorothy by
Marvin Bell, which was produced in 1937. A more modern take on love as opposed to sonnet 130,

To Dorothy is written for his wife, Dorothy, whom seemed to be the subject of many of his
poems along with children. In the Bell s biography by Thomas Erskine and Sarah Hilbert, Bell
stated that My story since 1960 is forever woven together with the stories of Dorothy, Nathan,
and Jason. (sec. Biography, par. 3). Bell acknowledges the fact that his wife is not beautiful,
exactly but admires her individuality which makes her beautiful, inexactly (l. 1 2). Throughout
the poem, Bell compares their love to a mulberry bush (l. 3 4) and if he lost her, he would have
to have to ask the grass to let me sleep (l. 14). This means that Bell adores his wife and that she is
an important aspect of his life. If she passed away, a part of him would die as well. Notably,
personification plays a major role in shedding light on the theme of Sonnet 130 and To Dorothy .
In Sonnet 30, Shakespeare personifies his mistress s hair stating that black wires grow on her
head (1. 4). Wires certainly cannot grow since it is not living and is a humanlike quality. Also, this
attribute of the mistress relates to the fact that women are not perfect individuals as many poets try
to portray them as. This is also for the case of the breath that from my mistress reeks (l.

The Effects Of Salmon Farming On The Salmon Population Essay
Introduction
Fish, one of our most important sources of high quality protein, provides some 16% of the animal
protein consumed by the world s population, (Food Agriculture Organization, FAO, of the United
Nations, 1997). Our responses towards a growing demand for fish led to a boom in the salmon
farming industry (Naylor, et al., 1998). Unfortunately, the consequences of salmon farming
outweigh the value that comes with it. Even though salmon farming is steadily becoming more
sustainable, salmon farming is not a suitable and environmentally sound way of producing food due
to the negative issues salmon farming has caused in the environment, the salmon population, and
the health of humans.
Salmon farming effects to wild salmon population
Scientists of various fields have found that escaped salmon from fisheries have negatively
impacted the salmon population. The gradual increase of salmon farming has led to a higher rate
of escaped salmon reaching local ecosystems. As farmed salmon escape through weather events,
poor containment, careless handling, etc. the local ecology changes dramatically. In McGinnity s
study (2003), farmed salmon have been found to breed poorly and have difficulty surviving in
comparison to wild salmon. The study was carried out in Western Ireland and highlighted the
behavioral differences between wild salmon against various generations of hybrid salmon. It was
found that farmed salmon and hybrid salmon (various mixed farmed wild breeds) carry the

Female Body Stereotypes
Do you want a thigh gap? Some girls do because one word about how a girl looks will mess with
their heads, girls always check to see if they have a curvy body and will try to act like they have
a great body and try to achieve this goal. Girls nowadays only care about how they look and it s
not healthy, they just don t wantto get made fun of because of their bodies. Girls always feel like
they needto have perfect bodies because of all the pressure being put on them and/or being
bullied into it or peer pressured into it. The reason girls feel pressure on themselves is because
everyone judges you on your body. Guys will only like you for your looks and not anything else
like personality, interests, how nice you are. Everybody judges to soon about really nice people
because they can t see past their looks. Girls always judgeother people like not so popular girls or
people that are weird, not so social, socially akward, or people that don t really fit in that much.

Essay on Dr. Daedalus, Lauren Slater essay which depicts...
Human Into Animals
There are humans in the world that strive to become more animal like. Whether they just act like
ones, or have surgical operations to look more like one, they try to become more like an animal.
In her essay, Dr. Daedalus, Lauren Slater suggests that by altering our physical selves to emulate
something more animal, our brains, and possibly even our souls, we become somehow more
animal as well. She feels that we transform, and become more animal like every time we alter our
body into the form of an animal. Slater is correct to point out that when we change our self to look
more like animals we might have more in physical features in common with them, but she fails to
look at how our identities do not change. We look... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She straightforward states the assumption that we are different from animals because we have
this core is wrong. The reasoning is that we know that scientifically there is no center to the brain
where everything happens and all of our thoughts join. Each part works on its own; there is no
centralized part in the brain. We know enough about the brain for scientists to say that there is no
core of the brain where we can find the little me resides. Keeping all this in mind, we can base the
idea that when our bodies change, and we become more animal like, our mentality is affected
too. We might think we more like a lizard if we scale our skin, therefore we would act more like
a lizard. The problem is we think we re the lizard, but our brain doesn t become like a lizard s.
We don t start thinking like a lizard. Most importantly, we don t lose our meme; the meme isn t
even somewhat changed. We only show how versatile our power of meme is.
When we add a new part to our body, or change it is some form, our brain adopts to those
changes. Lauren Slater basis her idea on that we change who we are when our brain adapts these
new changes. She feels that when we get a procedure one on ourselves to look more like an
animal; we are in fact going to become a little more like that animal. Slater quotes Joe Rosen in

Essays On Siddhartha
Daniel Gutierrez Honors English 4 Mr. Rodriguez 08/30/17 Siddhartha That was how everyone
loved Siddhartha. He delighted and made everybody happy. But Siddhartha was not happy.
(Page 6) This is a great example of perception vs. reality as everyone makes it seem that one
person might be happy, but inside they can be at the complete opposite state. This causes him to
have the desire for more wisdom than what he has been taught. He wanted to find out what was
really important and wanted to feel no emotion in regards to what people think of him. What is
concentration? What is the ability to leave one s body? What is fasting? What is retention of
breath? It is a flight from the self, it is a brief escape from the torment of being I , it is a brief
numbing of the mind to counter pain and the senselessness of life. (Page 9) Siddhartha is saying.
that the practices of the samana are just a way of leaving life and its problems temporarily by
making their bodies undergo these hardships. They eventually become numb with the pain and
by doing so, the samana are able to leave their worries of the real world temporarily. Yes, he
thought breather deeply, I will no longer try to escape from Siddhartha. I will learn from myself,
be my own pupil; I will learn from myself the secret of Siddhartha. (Page 32) Here Siddhartha is
demonstrating that he is the only one that matters when it comes to thoughts of who he is, and
only his opinion of himself matters. Acceptance and the ability to look into himself will lead to
that road of happiness. Also, to be minimalistic as to if there is nothing to be needed then it is
not. This is something many people should take into consideration as to stay away from being
materialistic. He looked around him as if seeing the world for the first time. The world was
beautiful, strange, and mysterious. (page 39) Siddhartha Govinda left to join the Samanas to set
themselves free for enlightenment. The Samanas put out the idea that you must eliminate the self
so one can achieve spiritual fulfillment one day. Now he, too, felt belatedly for once in his life
that strongest and strangest of passions; he suffered from it, suffered pitifully, and yet he was
blessed, and yet he was in

Real Men Drink Coke
CASE ASSIGNMENT: COKE ZERO Chapter # 8)
Do Real Men Drink Diet Coke?
When a couple of marketing managers for Coca Cola told attorney Elizabeth Finn Johnson that
they wanted to sue their Coke Zero colleagues for taste infringement, she was baffled. She tried to
talk them out of it, but they were determined. They argued that Coca Cola Classic should be
protected from the age discrimination it would suffer with the introduction of a newer, younger soft
drink that tasted exactly the same as the original. Frustrated, Finn Johnson held up the Coke can and
shouted, It s not a person! Title VII doesn t cover these things!
What she didn t know was that the marketing managers were actors. Hidden cameras had been

Coca Cola is now investing more money in Coke Zero than any other brand its size, hoping it will
someday be a megabrand for the company alongside Coca Cola Classic and Diet Coke. Chief
Marketing Officer Bayne is enthusiastic about the impact it may have on the company. We do see
this as potentially a bit of a white knight. There s huge opportunity to grow here.

Graph s Effect On Water Temperature
Graph 1 suggests that, during the 2002 03 El NiГ±o event, the water temperature at 50 and at 100
meters below sea surface remained similar from July 18 to September 29 of 2002; however, the
water temperature at 100 meters below the surface was slightly colder. After that date range, the
water temperature at 100 meters below the surface decreased by ≈5 °C while the temperature
at
50 meters below the surface remained constant throughout the entire length of time. The water
temperature at 200 meters below the surface remained colder than at 50 and 100 meters below sea
level and continued to decrease at a gentle slope from July 18 to December 5, by ≈5 °C. A
temperature increase of ≈2 °C was observed from December 5 to January 16.
As indicated by Graph 2, the water temperatures at 50 and 100 meters below sea level differed by
≈4±1 °C from each other, and decreased at similar slopes. The temperature at 100 meters
below sea level remained colder than that at a 50 meter deepth. The water temperature at 200
meters below sea level remained ≈10±2 °C lower than that of the other two depth
temperatures. From August 1 to August 15, the temperatures at 50, 100, and 200 meter depths

The Concept Of Fate In Oedipus The King
What s meant to be will always find a way by Trisha Yearwood, it is an inspirational quote that
applies to every human being. Even so, it s imperative, when it has to deal with a person s fate.
There will be obstacles that may deter a person s future. It can likewise make a man so focused on
his needs that they may have, which will later result in disappointment to the people around them.
People are neglectful in the decisions they make because they are sure that if they get what they
need, joy will undoubtedly be inevitable for them. The same fate had happened to Sophocles
protagonist Oedipus the king, who had tried to avoid his fate by running away, but eventually, he
could not avoid his fate. This essay will discuss how Oedipustried to avoid his fate and how he
could have stopped his future from coming to past.
However, when I first started reading the play Oedipus the king the concept of fate came up all
through the play. Because of this many questions came to mind, but only one stood out the most
how did the idea of fate come about? . While the dictionary defines fate as the development of
events beyond a person s control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power. The Bible
shows that man was made with the capacity to settle on moral decisions and that heshe is in
charge of those choices. Even so, while reading the play by Sophocles, I was led to believe that
our present situation or wrongdoing of humankind have been determined long before we were ever

Similarities And Differences Between Aztecs And Mayans
The Incas , Aztecs, and mayans were both similar and different in their own unique ways and in
different beliefs and practises of everyday life. The first main topic we are going to be discussing
is the topic of religion in every culture and the ways their beliefs of gods change. Then we will
discuss further information about these groups and how they lived , functioned and ruled their
lives. To start it off the Incan religion which involved human sacrifice which during the time period
a culture were relatively common, they had also attributed sacredness to a rock formation. The
incan religion also required ancestor worship which is a ritual practice that was started on the belief
that deceased family members have a continued existence, and also that the dead ancestors take an
interest in the problems of the world, and have the power and the ability to influence the fortune of
the living. At its start, Incan religious beliefs connected with nature. The incan people also believed
that the Incarulers were descendants of the sun god, Inti. Next up is the Mayan religion which was
characterized by the worship of nature gods which include but are not limited to the gods of sun,
rain and corn . The Mayans believed importance of astronomy and astrology which they also

Analysis Of The Absurd
The Absurd
It is safe to say the idea of absurdism can be linked to meaningless, and other such words that
express a destination without the means to there and vice versa. In Camus famous fictional novel,
he shows how one s perception of life can be effected when faced with death. The Stranger reflects
Camus philosophical stance on absurdism. There is no truth, no certainty, or any unwavering, non
relative laws in life. There is no sense in pursuing impossibilities. But if life is in a sense pointless,
why continue living?
It seems as if Meursault does not want himself to be happy. This can be assumed from reading
the text. More specifically from chapter six of the Stranger on pages forty seven through fifty
nine. He could have had new job which would have paid substantially more in Paris, a loving
girlfriend whom wanted to marry him despite his flaws, and seemingly reliable and trustworthy
friends. Meursault had so many doors open for him filled with opportunities but he throws all his
chances of happiness away once he murders the Arab man on the beach.
Existence can be categorized as standing out or doing something that sets you aside from others
and the environment. Meursault s only desire was to be free from hope because hope meant that
there was a disconnection between who he should ve been and who he actually was. His only
wish was to almost blend into his environment or in other words become invisible to society so he
didn t have to be who the rest of the world

Earl Warren s Due Process Model
Since the year 1953 until the year 1969, Earl Warren served as the fourteenth chief justice of the
United States Supreme Court. Warren s span served was noticeable because of frequent judgements
that have changed United States decree and culture. While disapproved, Earl Warren is thought of
as an utmost chief. Under his supervision, the courts similarly wanted equivalence in unlawful
fairness, ushering in an era of increased sensitivity to the rights of the accused.
Chief Justice Earl Warren used the Due Process Model in order to make his decisions on these
very important cases. These decisions have affected and still continue to affect police procedures.
Failure to follow such procedure may result in the suppression of evidence or the release of an

Analysis Of David Foster Wallace s Consider The Lobster
In Consider the Lobster, David Foster Wallace asks his readers to consider if eating lobsters or
other animals is ethical. He describes how lobsters show a preference to not be boiled by their
efforts to avoid or escape the pan. He argues that this preference is proof that the lobster suffers
or feels pain. However, he ignores the fact that the same argument can be made about plants.
While working in landscaping, I discovered that grasses produce a chemical in distress right
before they are cut from a lawnmower or attacked by insects. This shows that the grass prefers to
not be cut or eaten just as the lobsterdid. As humans, we must eat either plants or animals to
survive. If both plants and animals feel pain and show a preference to live,... Show more content on

We all have a moral obligation to attempt to leave the world in a better place for future
generations. While this is an impossible task, by making an attempt we will leave it better off
than if we did not try. Overfishing has endangered cod, salmon, bluefin tuna, halibut, and
countless other species. Primates, lions, elephants, and dolphins are all endangered, but are still
a source of food in some countries. If we don t make changes soon our children and
grandchildren may never have the opportunity to see these animals. It is unethical to endanger
the existence of any plant or animal by eating it. There are some cases where eating an
endangered plant or animal is beneficial. In The World s Most Endangered Food, Rachel Nuwer
discusses how mass production farming is causing some breeds of animals and varieties of
plants to go extinct. Farmers are only using a couple of breeds or varieties to maximize profits.
Ninety percent of cattle used in the dairy industry now come from one breed (Nuwer). In the
United States, eighty six percent of apple varieties from historical records are now extinct and
several more are endangered (Nuwer). In these cases, the food is endangered due to lack of
demand. Purchasing and eating these foods may actually help keep them from going extinct. As
global warming continues to change our weather, keeping these plants and animals from going
extinct could play a

The History Behind The Wizard Of Oz
The History behind the Wizard of Oz Stories have deeper meaning than what they appear. Life
events such as the government, economy, or something happening to an individual can inspire
them to express themselves through writing. In the original story of The Wizard of Oz , it tells a
tale far more than people realize. The story portrays the government during the time period and
hidden symbolism within the story and characters. The Wizard of Ozwas written in 1900 by L.
Frank Baum. In America, a heavy presence of populism was upon the land. Dana Moore stated,
Populism has many characteristics similar to Socialism. The Populists goals were to free the
coinage of silver and other reforms, such as a progressed income tax on the American citizens
and the election of senators in the government. In addition, the Populist Party was formed mostly
of lower class farmers. One of their main goals was to regulate railroads due to the high price to
pay to transfer their crops. (Moore) Ranjit Dighe states in his article, New research about L. Frank
Baum indicated that he had little sympathy for the Populists or Bryan . By Dorothy, representing
the American people, wears silver shoes. This symbolizes the silver standard in America. There are
other references throughout the story that refer to money. For example, the Witch of the West
summons her minions with a silver whistle and a golden cap. USAGold.com stated, The references
to gold and silver echo the prominence of monetary

The Disadvantages Of Homeschooling
Homeschooling is when the parent makes the decision to educate their child at home. This form of
homeschooling has increased over the past few years, but it is not new. According to Robert
Houston Jr and Eugenia Toma(2003), homeschooling has been around since the 17th and 18th
centuries. Homeschooling during those centuries were typically done by wealthy or family that
could afford the price of private tutors. There is a difference between homeschoolingthen and now.
In one of tge supplementary reading this week it state and our country s early history, home
educationwas, in part, due to the lack of available alternatives (Houston and Toma, 2003). In today s
society, unlike earlier history, we are afraid of multiple alternative, but meaning shoes
homeschooling because it fits their family better than other alternatives.
There are a couple of disadvantages for the children being homeschooled. A child that has always
been homeschool might feel lonely. For the students that attended school before and started
homeschooling after attending school might miss their friends and that environment. Richard
Medlin (2000) add students that were in public school that were transitioned to homeschooling how
they felt about the transition. Many of the students that he acts said they miss their friends, so left
out of normal school activities(dances/sports), and felt they might lose touch with scenes normal
kids were interested in. There are also several advantages that parents believe

Frankenstein is partly an epistolary novel. In what way do the letters at the beginning of the text
help frame the story that follows? The series of letters at the beginning of Frankenstein by Mary

Walton tells his sister of updates while he s on one of many sea trips and to coincide with that,
readers of the novel get a glimpse of the personal turmoil he is facing. On his trip, Walton meets a

So that s why when he encountered the stranger, he immediately found a sense of comfort in
confiding in him because he finally satisfied his need for companionship. In Frankenstein s
situation, he too was seeking a friend because he shared Walton s desire for companionship. The
parallel storylines between a human and a monster make it evident that the two beings, though
physically different, may not be as contrasting as initially thought. Frankenstein is a story within a
story. What effect does this technique have upon the narrative? The story within a story technique
can also be called frame story/narrative. In Frankenstein, this technique helps introduce different
characters as well as their perspectives. Through the letters written by Robert Walton to Margaret
Saville, readers learn about Victor Frankenstein and his creation s story. If one thinks about it, this
novel actually has many layers, and can be referred to as a story within a story that s within
another story. The reason being is in Walton s letters, we learn of Victor Frankenstein and his
adversity when he created the monster, which is the last narrative the readers experience. To

many ways that overall become clearer in the initial letters Mary Shelley uses in the beginning of
the novel. Explain the purposes of each of the following characters in the story. Why does Shelley

Hatshepsut s Impact On The Pharaohs Of Egypt

when we think of great female pharaohs, we think of Cleopatra. However, one of Egypt s most
prominent pharaohs is none of the above. Arguably one of the most underrated pharaohs in terms of
their overall impact on Egypt is Hatshepsut. Born to King Thutmose I by the principal wife and

The Design And Analysis Of Computer Experiments

According to the case study, the design and analysis of computer experiments (DACE) were
applied as a tool to identify the risks associated with laser welding in an electronic welding
process for developing the substrate product development effort. This process, DACE, used the
computer simulations to easily predict the stresses and warp of the sample with varying factor
levels. The main advantage here is instead of making eight different samples, the whole work was
finishing with a computer, and it saves a lot of time and money.

Siddhartha Analysis Paper
Time does not exist; love is eternal; death brings peace. Siddhartha illustrates each of these themes
in the novel, Siddhartha. Throughout his life, Siddhartha is very independent. For example,
Siddhartha demonstrates self determination when he leaves his overbearing father to begin the life
of the Samanas (Hesse 10). There, he escapes from the physical world to soon realize that
enlightenment cannot come from ignoring the world around him. He decides to follow the Buddha
and learn his teachings; however, he is unsuccessful. As Siddharthagoes through his unaccompanied
journey towards Enlightenment, he comes to realize that he must let his loved ones go and that
each man must find the way by himself (Malthaner 3). Foolishly, he falls... Show more content on

After his experiences, Siddhartha comprehends that he is not capable of individualistic love and
decides to abandon Kamala. Later, he meets her again, but now she is not alone. While Kamala
takes a journey with her son to visit the dying Buddha, she gets bitten by a poisonous snake and
perishes. He loses Kamala s love but hopes to gain the love of his son. Unfortunately, he never
does. Siddhartha treats his son with consideration and respect although he realizes the boy has
been spoiled by a wealthy lifestyle. He unsuccessfully tries to win over the love of his son, but his
love is not mutual. Young Siddhartha soon runs away towards the village to continue his life
without his controlling father. Although Siddhartha understands that he must let him go, his love
for his son is overwhelming; he cannot bear to let the boy go. After speaking with Vasudeva, the
Ferryman, and learning from the river, Siddhartha learns to accept the loss of love. Now,
Siddhartha has gained wisdom and understanding of love universal love. Enlightenment cannot
exist without love, for love is the most important thing in the world (Hesse 147). Through Kamala
and his son he has learned that one must love the world, not despise it (Hesse 147). At first, love
is portrayed as an immoral feeling and thought of as an obstacle in his journey to reach Nirvana.
Later, Siddhartha learns that one must love to prosper and that love is what keeps the world alive.

Nanotechnology And Its Effects On Our Future
Imagine that, in the near future, you need surgery in your lungs. Currently, it would be very
invasive and very risky to do surgery on your lungs. But, with advances in nanotechnology, the
surgery could be quick and painless. There could be almost no risk attributed to surgeries like
nowadays, and it would not be nearly as invasive either. Nanotechnologyis something that isn t
necessarily new, it has been talked about and worked upon for many years. However, there have
been advances in this field that have led to new and also exciting discoveries. Surgeries, for
example, are one of the things that nanotechnology has seen a promising future for. There is,
however, a dark side of this. While there are many innovations that have launched this technology
to the forefront of many scientists minds, there are also skeptics and nonbelievers that say this
technology could do more harm than it could good. There are many pros, but there are even more
cons to this technology. This reason is why so many people say that we should not be pushing this
technology as far and as hard as we currently are. If there is not a change in the rapid growth of
this technology, there could be some undesirable consequences. There is a nearly universal belief
that canceris horrible. There is also nearly universal belief that the treatments we have today for
cancer are not effective at all, and they are also not safe. Chemotherapyis one of the most

My Pastime As A Pastime
One of my pastimes was watching movies. Besides Andaz Apna Apna, I would watch the
popular movies playing in the theatre (#FastAndFuriousSeries #DhoomSeries), and occasionally
watch the movies that play on Sony Max (#Sooryavansham #TarzanTheWonderCar
#TheyNeedNewMovies). Can this even be called a hobby? Was I being passionate about my
passion? I decided to convert this pastime into a hobby by watching the 250 highest rated movies
ever made. It took me three years (nearly 2 movies a week), but it was so worth it. These movies
ranged from boring silent movies of the 1920s to the mainstream movies of today. Watching such
diverse movies pushed me out of my comfort zone my tastes developed and ultimately it became
a life changing experience. #SecondDegreeHappiness I have been able to experience what has
fascinated, inspired and entertained four generations. Movies have made me travel, not only to
different places but also to different time periods. I have learnt that if I want to gain knowledge
about history, I should not solely rely on what is written ABOUT the past, but rely on material
made IN the past. I have learnt about different cultures by watching films made in different

But spending entire weekends (and very often weekdays too) discussing/debating/watching sports
is an addiction, a sort of obsession that is preventing us from living our life to our potential.
When I look back, while I was constantly discovering new things in movies, sports was very
repetitive. The same thing kept happening over and over again with just enough variation to keep
me interested. Besides a few iconic matches, I can barely differentiate one game from the other.
Watching sports did not provide me with fulfillment so I decided to end my obsession with it
(#SportsDetox). Whether you want to continue your obsession or not is for you to contemplate.

A person whose weight is higher than what is considered to be a normal weight adjusted for

than two in three adults were considered to be overweight or have obesity in America (
Overweight ). Additionally, about one in six children and adolescents ages two to nineteen were
considered to have obesity ( Overweight). Many Americans have adopted unhealthy lifestyles and
as a result, they are gaining more and more weight. Fast food, lack of exercise, watching

Most people know that children need at least sixty minutes of physical activity each day, which
is equal to seven hours every week. Unfortunately, only one in three children are physically
active each day ( Facts and Statistics ). Twenty eight percent of Americans, which is over eighty
million people, aged six and older are not physically active at all ( Facts and Statistics ). On the
other hand, the World Health Organization and the U.S. Department of Health and Human
Services recommend that for good health, adults should get the equivalent of two and a half
hours of moderate to vigorous physical activity each week ( Physical Activity ). Only one in
three adults receive this amount of physical activity each week ( Facts and Statistics ). To many
people s surprise, less than five percent of adults participate in thirty minutes of physical activity
every day ( Facts and Statistics ). These shocking numbers exemplify how physically inactive our
country has become in recent years. Another contributing factor that causes weight gain and
obesity is television watching. Children who have televisions in their bedrooms are more likely to
gain excess weight than children who do not ( Television Watching ). Several trials that reduced
children s television use were designed and the results were improvements in body mass index
(BMI), body fat, and other obesity related measures for the children who watched less television (

The ability to be an adaptive leader and to utilize and apply changes while keeping a positive
attitude is a must. I will display cognitive flexibility by using strategic thinking having multiple
plans to cover any unexpected factors along the along the way. By doing this my supervisors and
peers will have faith in my decision making, while I keep my subordinates on the right track to
complete the mission. I will practice dispositional flexibility by remaining optimistic at all times,
encouraging my subordinates along the way, expressing the importance of the task and inspiring
everyone to remain motivated. This in return will motivate my peers and supervisors, giving them
a piece of mind during stressful or unpredictable situations. Lastly, I will utilize emotional
flexibility, to not only manage my own emotions but the emotions of others. This can require me
to take different approaches to individuals on my team due to multiple personalities. If my
subordinates remain emotionally stable my peers will feel more comfortable working alongside
me and my team, thus allowing the leaders to have complete faith we can complete any task while
keeping our emotions under control. By remaining an adaptable and flexible leader the insight I
will have on my leadership, peers, and Airmen is abundant. My subordinates will want to follow

Homework Essay
Definition of homework: Tasks assigned to students by school teachers that are intended to be
carried out during non school hours. Why do we have homework? What are the benefits of
homework? Is there such thing as too much homework? Homework helps you to gain, and retain
more knowledge than would be possible with only classroom work, this is a huge reason students
get homework. Homework does actually have benefits, it teaches a host of important life skills,
from responsibility and time management in prioritizing and organizing. But, how much is too

That depends on multiple complex or elaborate factors, including the singular intelligence or
capability of the child, type of classes, and available time. I m afraid some people after a certain
amount of time doing homework, they begin to shut down. However, there have been studies that
show how outside of school learning improves in class learning, and I agree with that. Without
homework, I d forget part of what we learned the previous day the minute my head hit the pillow.
But, if you must skip a simple 90 minutes of soccer practice because homework is taking two
hours longer than you thought, there s a problem. If you do have a lot of homework at a time, it
helps to be organized. Prioritizing can help you to complete your homework assignments with
minimal stress. A poll conducted for the Associated Press earlier this year found that about 57
percent of parents felt their child was assigned about the right amount of homework. Another 23
percent thought it was too little, 19 percent thought it was too much. K 2 works on homework for
about 10 20 minutes a night. 3 6 graders have about 30 60 minutes a night usually. When you get
into junior high you ll have about 90 minutes. Students who are in college have around 90 150
minutes a night! Do you now understand why we students have homework? What are the benefits

Being a part of the armed forces is one of the most courageous, respectful deeds one could do for
their beloved country. Through immense sacrifice, individuals basically sell their souls away to
the military. They are subject to countless hours of brutal training and exposed to living
conditions many people could not compare too. Members of the armed forces are often seen as
discipline, respectful, and hardworking people, especially when they are retuning back to U.S soil

Ordered by President George H.W Bush, relentless allied attacks were made on the Iraqi forces
which led to their surrender. Though this win was a giant success for the allied forces, tension
only rose nearly a decade later with the second Gulf War starting in 2003. The Iraq War
, also known
as the Second Persian Gulf War or Gulf War 2, started in March 2003 with the combined invasion
of Iraq by the United States and Great Britain. President George Bush urged the invasion of Iraq
for two reasons. First, the vulnerability of the United States following the terrorist attacks on
September 11th, 2001. Secondly, the belief in Iraq producing weapons of mass destruction and
their support for terrorist groups in the region. In the early stages of the invasion, Iraqi troops
did not stand a chance against the invading countries. Iraqi military forces were forced to flee or
surrender which allowed for a relatively easy takeover of the country. With his county being
completely dominated by allied forces, Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein went into hiding. He was
later found in December 2003, and was turned over to country officials. After being convicted of
crimes against humanity, he was executed in 2006. With over 39,000 soldiers remaining in Iraq by
the start of Barack Obama s presidency, the new commander of chief of the United States
announced they would be leaving the country upon by the end of 2011 (Encyclopedia Britannica,
2015).

Germany s Depressed Economy Affected The Rise Of Hitler
Almost every country was deeply affected by WWI. During the 1920s, most of these countries
went into an economic depression. Germany was affected more than most due to sanctions and
post war agreements. Adolf Hitler began his rise to power and began making promises to the
citizens that were struggling. The deep crisis in Germany allowed Hitler to seize power in 1933.
This investigation will examine how Germany s depressed economy affected the rise of Hitler in
the early 1930s. Summary of Evidence After WWI ended, there were many changes for the Central
powers, which consisted of Germany, France, the Ottoman Empire, Austria Hungary and Bulgaria.
The victorious countries, United States, Great Britain and France, met up to write treaties to give
the losing countries the punishment they deserved for starting such chaos. Many of the treaties
signed, such as Treaty of Saint Germainen Laye, Treaty of Trianon, Treaty of Sevres and Treaty of
Lausanne hurt the losing powers worse by taking away land that they had acquired earlier. Around
ten months after the end of the Great War, Woodrow Wilson, then president of the United States,
proposed his famous plan Fourteen Points, which focused on preventing war in the future...
proposing a League of Nations to arbitrate further international disputes. When the German leaders
at the time signed this proposed plan, they believed that this was the beginning of a peaceful era.
However, the Entente powers had different plans. The countries known

she mentions a few of the bold moves they made over the years that have garnered attention,
starting with the change of their name. Another controversial move they made was with their

Technology has become apart of the human way of life. Simply step outside and technology can be
seen everywhere. It aids not only our nation, but the world as a whole. Yet there was a point an time
in history where technology didn t exists; it was just a mere thought. Such an idea was once
thought to be inhuman or idiotic. It was portrayed as witch craft, unnatural, and frond upon because
people were unwilling to change and accept new ideas. Yet when beliefs are tested, broken down,

Vampire Subcultures
There are many subcultures in the United States that are strange to me that some people think are
completely normal. A subculture is a cultural group within a larger culture that has the same
interests, beliefs, behaviors, or religion. Subcultures varies from things like southern food culture,
to things like bodybuilding. The strangest subcultures to me are the vampires, and the bronies.
There were some more in mind, but these are the two that stood out the most to me.
Strangely enough, vampires are already in people s imagination. Now they have a cultural group
just for their imagination. I m not trying to seem disrespectful to the vampire subculture, but it s
honestly strange that they think they are real vampires. This lifestyle formed in the western culture,
stemming from horror films, and overall styles of Victorian England. The vampire subculture is just
like any other system of beliefs. They commit themselves to this lifestyle and participate in rituals.
Continually, vampires dress themselves in gothic clothing with dark eye shadow, and black nail
polish. In this vampire lifestyle, you will find blood donors who are people who allow the
vampires to drink their actual blood. The donors are hard to find, but they are subservient to the
vampires. There are different types of vampires within the vampire subculture. They have the
sanguinarians, the psychic vampires, the living vampires, and the transcendental vampires. The

Why Does History Matter
A question often asked is, Why does history matter? History is a subject taught to people all around
the world and is essential to the survival of the human race. History matters because it connects
things through time, helps present day people to make better decisions than their predecessors
based on pastevents, and teaches individuals about their heritage.
First, history matters because it connects all things throughout the fabric of time. People are like

It is important for people to know about their predecessors and how they came to be in
existence. I have always been fascinated in the rich history of my family. Being first generation
immigrant, I have witnessed the great move across the Atlantic firsthand and know how hard it
is to leave your family and home behind to create a new life. My grandmother, on my mother s
side, was born in former Yugoslavia, present day Serbia, as Adelheid Amschlinger. In 1943 she
had to flee her home because of World War II. Yugoslavia had been annexed by the Nazis in 1941
and was introduced to racial laws and persecution of Jews and other political opponents. People
started uprising all throughout the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the violence was enough to force
my grandmother, her sister, and mother to flee. Adelheid s father was captured in 1944, while
they were trying to flee and was killed. They fled to Austria, in hopes of finding safety, and were
forced to change their names. Adelheid, her mother, and her sister lived on the countryside for
years in a place near the city of Graz. There they resided until my grandmother, then known as Jana

Descriptive Essay About Hunting
The Hunt My journey begins at 4:00 am on a Friday, waking a minute before my alarm goes off.
It s time to get dressed with warm clothes and gather my hunting gear for the day. I load my
equipment and start my car, anxious to get going. It is the first week of September, the cool
morning air rustling the color changing leaves outside. I hear the sound of distant birds
awakening with a chirp. Fog layers the ground like a blanket to the earth. The season of goose
hunting is upon us in West Michigan. My friends and I have been ready to hunt since the end of
last years season. Wildlife is very active, and I have to stop for deer frequently while driving.
The shining moon is a lantern in the sky, stars are abundant, traffic is scarce, and my stomach is
growling. My arrival time at Jayden s house is perfect, their trailer is loaded, their guns are
prepared, and the weather is beautiful. As I get out of my car and start to unload, Jayden says,
We didn t know if you d make it. I can t miss an opening day goose hunt, I reply with excitement.
Jayden, Spencer, and their dad, Ryan help me load my layout blind and gun into their organized
trailer, then I jump in Jayden s lifted truck and we re off. Our five minute truck ride is mostly
quiet, a few words are said like, did you eat breakfast, and last night I saw the geese land in the
field we re heading to. When we get to the wheat field, we quickly unload everything, and start
dragging our blinds and decoys to the middle of it.

Virtual Body Circulation, Respiration, Breathing
Ventilation is a process in which our body extracts oxygen from the atmosphere and releases
carbon dioxide as a byproduct. Overall, this process exchanges air between our lungs and the
atmosphere.
According to Boyle s Law, at a constant temperature, pressure of a gas is inversely proportional to
volume. Therefore, when we breathe in, the chest cavity expands, and the pressure inside the lungs
becomes slightly lower than the atmospheric pressure.
When the muscles relax and the volume of the chest cavity decreases, the air inside the lungs is
forced out. This is the process of expiration .
For normal breathing, 3% of the body s energy is used.

The pack also comes in handy when you are looking for a quick escape from danger. Another benefit of the thruster pack, is that all its inputs are easily controllable using just a single button hence you avoid distraction, and have the right time to completely destroy your enemy or make a swift escape from them. The games graphics are highly detailed; this makes the missions more captivating. There are two breakout missions, to create a new experience far from the other styles of play. You have the option to alternate between dogfighting in a jet and battling enemies on foot. The other involves hacking into someone s mind and fighting the memories of a long past battle. Both represent Call of Duty at its best: big showpiece missions that feel distinct both in style and in the challenges you face. But they re ultimately stones striking a pond, their ripples lost to the stillness. On the whole, this campaign is very one note, albeit one that sounds better in concert. • 3. Data Privacy On Ethical Online Business Introduction In a few decades time, computers will be interwoven into almost every industrial product , said computer scientist pioneer Karl Steinbuch in 1966. Steinbuch s prediction couldn t be closer to the truth. Today we see the Internet of Things (IoT), which is the concept that modern devices are provided with unique identifiers and the ability to transfer data over a network without requiring any human to human or human to computer interaction (Rouse, 2014). Wireless technologies, the internet, and various other types of computer networks have converged to form the IoTs as we know it. The Internet of Things is a complex technical and policy related subject, and impacts everything from politics and the environment, to society and the economy. Before delving into the implication of data privacy on ethical online business, one must understand what the two respective terms mean. Privacy is defined as the ability of an individual or group to seclude themselves or information about themselves and thereby express themselves selectively (Roux, 2012). The right to privacy is explicitly stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and declared by the U.S. Supreme Court as a right implicitly granted by the Constitution. Though privacy is viewed as a necessary right, with the onset of the internet and tracking cookies, privacy has become more difficult to maintain for online businesses. Everyone has told you the supposedly comforting statistics millions of planes take off each day and there s only a handful of crashes, flying is safer than driving. You know rationally that there is no reason to be so scared, but regardless your heart is racing, your palms are sweating, and you re light headed. Simply the thought of being up in the air, out of control, makes you feel faint. Finally the flight attendant announces that your plane has arrived. But as all the other passengers line up to get onboard, you grab your luggage and walk straight out of the airport, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (3) Women are two to three times as likely to have phobias than men. There are three basic kinds of phobias: agoraphobia (fear of situations in which escape may be difficult), social phobia, and specific phobias. The DSM IV has separated phobic stimuli into four basic categories: animal, situational, blood injury, and nature environment. (3) Though the experience of phobias is relatively common and their physical characteristics are generally well understood, there is no real consensus on the neurobiological basis of phobias. Instead, there are currently several different models and theories that work to try to understand how and why phobias occur in the human brain. Most hypotheses regarding phobias take a different approach, from biological to psychoanalytic to evolutionary. Is there one model that seems less wrong or more satisfying in our efforts to understand the biology of phobias? Using the various models, how do phobias seem to come about? How does thinking about phobias add to our understanding of the brain and behavior? The classical conditioning model was one of the first theories used to describe phobias. Many years ago, scientists observed that one could willingly elicit a fear response in an animal or human through systematic teaching. For example, if every time a rat is presented with a low buzzing noise, it is electrically shocked, eventually, when it hears the noise alone (with no shock), it will exhibit symptoms of fear. It s one of my favourite Johnny Cash songs and these 2 managed to convince me with this performance that they were actually John and June. Without these 2 actors I don t think this movie would have been as remarkable as they managed to make it. One film that was very close to this one was last years highly famous, Ray . The biography of blind musician ray Charles. Both are high profile motion pictures about major recording stars who recently died (Cash passed away in 2003, four months after the death of his wife, June Carter). The music the 2 of them play is different, but there are very similar plot fundamentals, among which are drug use. Walk the Line I think is a better film. It s put together with more style, and it never seems to get boring, unlike Ray which near the end seems to drag on for a bit. Ray had much more fantasy as opposed to Walk the Line which was all completely based on Cash s own words. This movie also has a powerful plotline that Ray didn t, a love story! To me, that s what made this film much better than Ray . Overall I really enjoyed this movie; the only thing I want to complain about is the lack of Bob Dylan. It is a known fact that Dylan single handedly revived Cash s career, yet they only mention him a few times throughout the

  • 10. The Stoop Effect of Interference The Stroop Effect Since birth, we are taught that certain words are connected with certain ideas. For example, the word R E D is associated with the color of the wavelength of light from approximately 620 740 nm on the electromagnetic spectrum (Bohren (2006)) or in simpler terms, the color of stop signs, roses or strawberries. What if after you have connected the word RED to this certain color, the word changed to A H P A H, a nonsense syllable? Kline (1921) created a law that says: If a is already connected with b, then it is difficult to connect it with k, b gets in the way. • 12. Transcendence in Marilynne Robinson’s Housekeeping Essay Transcendence in Marilynne Robinson s Housekeeping William H. Burke suggests that transience in Marilynne Robinson s Housekeeping is a type of pilgrimage, and that the rigors and self denials of the transient life are necessary spiritual conditioning for the valued crossing from the experience of a world of loss and fragmentation to the perception of a world that is whole and complete (717). The world of reality in Housekeeping is one fragmented, isolated, and arbitrary as glimpses one has at night through lighted windows (Robinson 50). Nor will they, like Edmund and Helen, submit to a premature death in the water; instead they pursue a spiritual transience that will lead them to an earthly state of transcendent grace. The thoughts and emotions that occur in connection with water are triggered by the lake, and they help Ruth choose transience over any other form of existence. When water floods Fingerbone, the boundaries are overrun, exposing the impermanence of the physical world, and the world s own natural push towards transience. Water shifts the margins, warning us that the visible world only shows us part of the whole or perhaps even a mere reflection of a false reality. After the fantastic train wreck in which Ruth s grandfather perished, the lake sealed itself over in ice, changing boundaries again, while it concealed, like a secret, the last traces of the victims with the illusion of its calm surface. The lake, a source of beauty and darkness, life and death, is the accumulated past, which vanishes but does not vanish, which perishes and remains (172). Water carries the symbolic possibility for rebirth the flood causes the graves in the town cemetery to sink, so that they looked a little like...empty bellies, suggesting that the dead were born into the receding waters (62). To Dorothy Sonnet 130 Analysis Stirling McKelvie Mrs. Ivey AP English IV 18 April 2015 Poetic Analysis It is a rarity for one find poetry that recognizes that the object of one s affection is far from perfection. For instance, My mistress eyes are nothing like the sun (sonnet 130) is a sonnet written by William Shakespeare in the year of 1609 that appears to be filled with insults directed to his lover, but in the end, he expresses his deep and genuine affection for her. This poem relates to To Dorothy by Marvin Bell, which was produced in 1937. To Dorothy is written for his wife, Dorothy, whom seemed to be the subject of many of his poems along with children. In the Bell s biography by Thomas Erskine and Sarah Hilbert, Bell stated that My story since 1960 is forever woven together with the stories of Dorothy, Nathan, and Jason. (sec. Biography, par. 3). Bell acknowledges the fact that his wife is not beautiful, exactly but admires her individuality which makes her beautiful, inexactly (l. 1 2). Throughout the poem, Bell compares their love to a mulberry bush (l. 3 4) and if he lost her, he would have to have to ask the grass to let me sleep (l. 14). This means that Bell adores his wife and that she is an important aspect of his life. If she passed away, a part of him would die as well. Notably, personification plays a major role in shedding light on the theme of Sonnet 130 and To Dorothy . In Sonnet 30, Shakespeare personifies his mistress s hair stating that black wires grow on her head (1. 4). Wires certainly cannot grow since it is not living and is a humanlike quality. Also, this attribute of the mistress relates to the fact that women are not perfect individuals as many poets try to portray them as. • 16. The Effects Of Salmon Farming On The Salmon Population Essay Introduction Fish, one of our most important sources of high quality protein, provides some 16% of the animal protein consumed by the world s population, (Food Agriculture Organization, FAO, of the United Nations, 1997). Our responses towards a growing demand for fish led to a boom in the salmon farming industry (Naylor, et al., 1998). Unfortunately, the consequences of salmon farming outweigh the value that comes with it. Even though salmon farming is steadily becoming more sustainable, salmon farming is not a suitable and environmentally sound way of producing food due to the negative issues salmon farming has caused in the environment, the salmon population, and the health of humans. Salmon farming effects to wild salmon population Scientists of various fields have found that escaped salmon from fisheries have negatively impacted the salmon population. The gradual increase of salmon farming has led to a higher rate of escaped salmon reaching local ecosystems. As farmed salmon escape through weather events, poor containment, careless handling, etc. the local ecology changes dramatically. In McGinnity s study (2003), farmed salmon have been found to breed poorly and have difficulty surviving in comparison to wild salmon. But Siddhartha was not happy. (Page 6) This is a great example of perception vs. reality as everyone makes it seem that one person might be happy, but inside they can be at the complete opposite state. This causes him to have the desire for more wisdom than what he has been taught. He wanted to find out what was really important and wanted to feel no emotion in regards to what people think of him. What is concentration? What is the ability to leave one s body? What is fasting? What is retention of breath? It is a flight from the self, it is a brief escape from the torment of being I , it is a brief numbing of the mind to counter pain and the senselessness of life. They eventually become numb with the pain and by doing so, the samana are able to leave their worries of the real world temporarily. Yes, he thought breather deeply, I will no longer try to escape from Siddhartha. I will learn from myself, be my own pupil; I will learn from myself the secret of Siddhartha. (Page 32) Here Siddhartha is demonstrating that he is the only one that matters when it comes to thoughts of who he is, and only his opinion of himself matters. Acceptance and the ability to look into himself will lead to that road of happiness. Also, to be minimalistic as to if there is nothing to be needed then it is not. This is something many people should take into consideration as to stay away from being materialistic. He looked around him as if seeing the world for the first time. The world was beautiful, strange, and mysterious. (page 39) Siddhartha Govinda left to join the Samanas to set themselves free for enlightenment. The story portrays the government during the time period and hidden symbolism within the story and characters. The Wizard of Ozwas written in 1900 by L. Frank Baum. In America, a heavy presence of populism was upon the land. Dana Moore stated, Populism has many characteristics similar to Socialism. Such an idea was once thought to be inhuman or idiotic. It was portrayed as witch craft, unnatural, and frond upon because people were unwilling to change and accept new ideas. Yet when beliefs are tested, broken down, and explained, then greatness comes about it. There are people who brave enough to test these theories, without them we wouldn t be where we are today. Technology has been one small step for man, but one giant leap for mankind. People such as Benjamin Franklin, Eli Whitney, and Samuel F.B. Morse have made life changing moments in history. Franklin introduce the idea of electricity, with his more commonly known experiment the key and kite. Though Franklin only established a connection with lightning and electricity, it lead to greater discoveries. • 50. Vampire Subcultures There are many subcultures in the United States that are strange to me that some people think are completely normal. A subculture is a cultural group within a larger culture that has the same interests, beliefs, behaviors, or religion. Subcultures varies from things like southern food culture, to things like bodybuilding. The strangest subcultures to me are the vampires, and the bronies. There were some more in mind, but these are the two that stood out the most to me. Strangely enough, vampires are already in people s imagination. Now they have a cultural group just for their imagination. I m not trying to seem disrespectful to the vampire subculture, but it s honestly strange that they think they are real vampires. This lifestyle formed in the western culture, stemming from horror films, and overall styles of Victorian England. The vampire subculture is just like any other system of beliefs. They commit themselves to this lifestyle and participate in rituals. Continually, vampires dress themselves in gothic clothing with dark eye shadow, and black nail polish. In this vampire lifestyle, you will find blood donors who are people who allow the vampires to drink their actual blood. The donors are hard to find, but they are subservient to the vampires. There are different types of vampires within the vampire subculture. They have the sanguinarians, the psychic vampires, the living vampires, and the transcendental vampires. The sanguinarians who look at themselves as real ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I have always been fascinated in the rich history of my family. Being first generation immigrant, I have witnessed the great move across the Atlantic firsthand and know how hard it is to leave your family and home behind to create a new life. My grandmother, on my mother s side, was born in former Yugoslavia, present day Serbia, as Adelheid Amschlinger. In 1943 she had to flee her home because of World War II. Yugoslavia had been annexed by the Nazis in 1941 and was introduced to racial laws and persecution of Jews and other political opponents. People started uprising all throughout the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the violence was enough to force my grandmother, her sister, and mother to flee. Adelheid s father was captured in 1944, while they were trying to flee and was killed. They fled to Austria, in hopes of finding safety, and were forced to change their names. Adelheid, her mother, and her sister lived on the countryside for years in a place near the city of Graz. There they resided until my grandmother, then known as Jana Amschlinger, decided to move to Vienna, Austria and started a family with my grandfather, Michael Wisniewski. After having my mother, Sitra Wisniewski, Michael and Jana divorced. Both continued to live in Vienna and my mother grew up in Vienna, as well. My mother and father, both Austrians, then married and had my sister and I. In the spring of 2004, my mother, Sitra Tauscher Wisniewski, and my father, Johannes Tauscher, decided that Vienna didn t have enough opportunities for them as doctors and they wanted a change of setting. Both traveled to the U.S. and interviewed at Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical company, based in Indiana, that had expressed interest in hiring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Descriptive Essay About Hunting The Hunt My journey begins at 4:00 am on a Friday, waking a minute before my alarm goes off. It s time to get dressed with warm clothes and gather my hunting gear for the day. I load my equipment and start my car, anxious to get going. It is the first week of September, the cool morning air rustling the color changing leaves outside. I hear the sound of distant birds awakening with a chirp. Fog layers the ground like a blanket to the earth. The season of goose hunting is upon us in West Michigan. My friends and I have been ready to hunt since the end of last years season. Wildlife is very active, and I have to stop for deer frequently while driving. The shining moon is a lantern in the sky, stars are abundant, traffic is scarce, and my stomach is growling. My arrival time at Jayden s house is perfect, their trailer is loaded, their guns are prepared, and the weather is beautiful. As I get out of my car and start to unload, Jayden says, We didn t know if you d make it. I can t miss an opening day goose hunt, I reply with excitement. Jayden, Spencer, and their dad, Ryan help me load my layout blind and gun into their organized trailer, then I jump in Jayden s lifted truck and we re off. Our five minute truck ride is mostly quiet, a few words are said like, did you eat breakfast, and last night I saw the geese land in the field we re heading to. When we get to the wheat field, we quickly unload everything, and start dragging our blinds and decoys to the middle of it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Virtual Body Circulation, Respiration, Breathing Sophia Ho A13369046 Virtual Body Circulation, Respiration, Breathing Ventilation is a process in which our body extracts oxygen from the atmosphere and releases carbon dioxide as a byproduct. Overall, this process exchanges air between our lungs and the atmosphere. According to Boyle s Law, at a constant temperature, pressure of a gas is inversely proportional to volume. Therefore, when we breathe in, the chest cavity expands, and the pressure inside the lungs becomes slightly lower than the atmospheric pressure. When the muscles relax and the volume of the chest cavity decreases, the air inside the lungs is forced out. This is the process of expiration . For normal breathing, 3% of the body s energy is used.
