Atherosclerotic pathology of Iliac arteries where
thrombectomy and endarterectomy fails and the only
management is aorto-femoral or bifemoral bypass surgeries
The classical surgery indicates a total laparotomy

Estimates ranged from 3.56% to
>14% in a general population
increased prevalence in the elderly,
estimating 14%-20% over 70 years
and 23% over 80 years old
Preponderance is higher in male
and non-Hispanic black populations
rare but another significant etiology
is large vessel vasculitis,
specifically Takayasu arteritis.
