Edward Livingston Voices Of Freedom
Until the 1770s most colonists believed themselves to be the freest political system humankind has
ever known (Foner 73). Overtime conflict began as tension began to build between the colonists and
British authority due to many factors one including a series of acts meant to punish the colonies for
their defiance against Great Britain. Over time this led to the fight for the independence of the thirteen
colonies also known as the revolutionary war.
In voices of freedom the author of article twenty three , Edward Livingston established the difference
between a limited monarchy and absolute monarchy. Livingston s believed that any person in his
senses should prefer a limited monarchy. Stating that absolute monarchy caused the whole country to

These were passed as a form of punishment for Massachusetts after throwing a large tea shipment into
the Boston harbor. These measures destroyed the legitimacy of the imperial government in the eyes of
many colonists as these laws not only effected Massachusetts but they also angered other colonies.
Disagreement and resistance quickly began to spread across small towns and rural areas to those who
were not previously part of the resistance. soon in 1774 a colonial protest group was born known as
the sons of liberty which also helped pave the way to the spark of rebellion. Another big part in
inspiring colonist to fight for freedom was a pamphlet titled common sense written by Thomas Paine.
This pamphlet explained the need for independence in a way most would understand. Paine developed
a new style of political writing which helped include more people in political discussion. It quickly
became the most successful and most influential pamphlets in the history of political writing. In his
writings Paine stated plain and simple facts such as many of the struggles between England and

Arauco: Forward Integration or Horizontal Expansion?
Introduction:
Arauco was formed through a merger between Industrias Arauco and Celulosa Constitución in 1979.

The second phase of the project includes constructing a pulp mill and will cost US$1 billion.
Today (2004) Pérez main problem is that he has to decide whether the company should go through a
horizontal expansion or a forward integration. In others words, if the company should continue with
the second phase of The Nueva Aldea project becoming the largest market pulp producer in the world
and having the possibility of foregoing other large projects in the next decade or to take advantage of
their low costs in pulp production by forward integrating into paper manufacturing.
Evaluation of the two alternatives:
As regards the horizontal expansion, there are several points that must be taken into account as they
demonstrate that this option will be the correct one: * This expansion will grow the company market
share because they have a cost advantage. * For a company is better and easier to grow in a sector that
they are presently functioning. * The market seems to be moving in favor. * As a result of a horizontal
expansion the company can achieve economies of scale and reduce significantly their costs. * Pulp is
Arauco´s main industrial activity, generating up 52% of EBITDA * Pulp production is the core
competency of Arauco. * Becoming the market leader will allow them to control supply and demand
of the market of pulp. * They have young forests. * Arauco is one of the world´s premier forestry
enterprises

Why Attend Lakeland
My main reasons for wanting to attend Lakeland would have to be that it is close to home, my cousin
is attending and has told me many great things about the wide option of classes and opportunities, and
to further educate myself on computer science as a whole before picking what part of it I would like to
make a career out of. As of the time being, my future career goal is to become either a network
administrator or a computer engineer. I love working with my hands and prefer this much more than
any sort of computer coding. Another very important goal for me, is to improve my overall knowledge
of computers, I find them simply fascinating. Something as simple as sending an application for
scholarships that used to take days to week to get delivered,

Michelangelo Creation Of Adam Essay
Michelangelo is without a doubt, one of the most brilliant artists in history. One of his most famous
masterpieces occupies what is probably the largest canvas on earth: The Sistine Chapel. Each fresco
contains a glimpse of creation using nine separate stories from the book of Genesis. Yet the most
famous image from this 134 ft. x 45 ft. painting is The Creation of Adam. The image of God reaching
down to Adam is so commonplace that many forget, or do not know, how controversial this portrayal
of the divine was in the 16th century. God was a divine king seated upon a throne who wore royal
robes, a papal crown, and held a scepter in his hand. This was not a God that conveyed a sense of
warmness, intimacy, or desire for human contact. God was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
Interestingly, the elements that represent this in the painting are God s clothing, nearness to Adam, and
the extended finger. God is no longer clothed in royal finery, but wears a garment that offers no
protection or distance from the created. By adding how close God is to Adam, a strong sense of human
intimacy emerges. Yet the most significant feature of this painting is the outstretched finger of God.
Through touch, God imparts life to Adam. Through touch, Adam receives not only physical breath, but
spiritual breath. Michelangelo himself said, To touch can be to give life. This was true of his famous
painting, but is also true for humanity today. (Keltner)
Research has shown how vital touch is to human development. At the University of California,
Berkley, professor of psychology Dacher Keltner, has conducted extensive research on the science of
human touch. In a lecture to his students, Keltner said, In recent years, a wave of studies has
documented some incredible emotional and physical health benefits that come from touch. This
research is suggesting that touch is truly fundamental to human communication, bonding, and health.

Native American Themes In Louise Erdrich s Antelope Wife
Louise Erdrich is a Native American author from Little Falls, Minnesota. Her mother is a Chippewa
Indian and her father is German American. Through her writing, she demonstrates native ideas and
culture. Native American themes are often present in her works. She shines a light on both
perspectives of her background. Some of her works mention reservations in Minnesota and North
Dakota which connects to her birthplace and where she grew up. Erdrich did not really look into her
native heritage until she went to Dartmouth and they had just opened the Native American department.
She delved more into the subject and started to use it in her writing. Erdrich gives readers, whether or
not they are Native American or not, a look at Native American culture from the eyes of both natives
and others in society. This theme is present in many of her works including: Antelope Wife and Future
Home of a Living God. Antelope Wife is a short story by Louise Erdrich. Antelope Wife is about a
Native American man belonging to the Chippewa tribe in Minnesota who is a teacher. One day he laid
his eyes on four women: three daughters and their mother. He was determined to have the mother and
he ends up kidnapping her. He gets her (the antelope) to fall in love with her, but he was warned by
Jimmy Badger that these women are generally curse the men who go after them. Towards the end of
the story, she becomes overweight and ugly and the man did not expect this to happen to him. There is
already a connection to native culture in the title of this short story, Antelope . Antelope is a spirit
animal in the native heritage. Antelope symbolizes being on the movie and action oriented. Deep in
the fields of tall golden grasses in the desert the Antelope thrives, ever watchful and discerning ready
to move in an instant. The Antelope perceives subtle body movements and signals from the other
members of the herd. When danger is near they move as one, quickly and confidently with finesse and
confidence, their maneuverability allows them to disappear into the vast expanse of wilderness with
no more than a moments notice. (Universe of Symbolism, Antelope). This symbolism is referred to
towards the end of the poem by Jimmy Badger. If you see one

Baby Pig Decomposition Research Paper
In class we watched the decomposition of a baby pig. Piglets are closely compared to humans during
the decomposition process because it s covered with hair, attracts insects, and its body fat distribution
is similar to that of a humans. Decomposition is a continuous process that can take as long as years
depending of the environment the corpse is in. There are multiple factors that play a role in how fast or
slow the decomposition process can be such as drugs, trauma to the body, access by scavengers, and
clothing.
During the video there were five distinct stages of decompositions. The first stage is the process of
autolysis. Autolysis consists of cellular breakdown, the change of body temperature, and the invasion
of insect in the body, laying eggs. The second stage is putrefaction which is the bloating of the body
due to bacteria and the gases produced. The third stage is black putrefaction in which maggots and
insects destroy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High temperatures tends to speed up the rate of decomposition and promotes a large amount of
maggots. Low temperatures slows down the process and the insect activity on the corpse. Windy and
dry weather causes the corpse to dry out causing mummification. Access to the body may limit the
insect activity. For example corpses with open wound tend to be decomposed a lot faster due to the
easy access. The cause of death could have left openings in the body making it easy for insects and
bacteria to infest the corpse beginning the stages of decay. In some cases when drugs are found in the
system of the corpse depending of the drug, it can either speed up the process of decomposition or
slow it down. The percentage of body fat can also play a role in the process of decay. Water content is
high in fat composition and bigger bodies hold more heat which promotes the growth of bacteria
causing the process to speed

Essay On Greek Geometry
The Greek are one of the founders of geometry, and had a big impact on math and the world today.
Greek geometry eventually passed into the hands of the great Islamic scholars, who translated it and
added to it. All around us we can observe some geometrical principles, which is probably what started
the ancients on their way to developing this field of study. The word geometry has its roots in the
Greek work geometrein, which means earth measuring . There were many circumstances in which
primitive people were forced to take on geometric topics, man had to learn with situations involving
distance, bounding their land, and constructing walls and homes. For sure builders today have to use
geometry. In this study of Greek geometry, there were many more Greek mathematicians and
geometers who contributed to the history of geometry. Geometry is one of the most greatest things
mankind has ever thought of. Because of Greeks geometry has become a big part of our lives as well.
Some people might have jobs that include a lot geometry. People everyday use geometry without even
realizing. There were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For engineers, having knowledge of geometry is very important for properly sizing and structuring
physical objects. Engineers use geometry to identify key shapes, such as triangles, cubes and
pyramids, and to find quantities like lengths, volumes, centroids, and movements of inertia, lines and
curves. Geometry is also used to reduce friction and determine the structure of soil. For builders they
have to learn how to measure their objects, and use shapes to build their buildings. Geometry is used
in astronomy to find the properties of stars and other objects in space. Also they need it to find how
many years does it take to get from one place to another and the distance between two or more
objects. They need to use equation formulas for basically

Orca whales have been in difficult circumstances ever since the first orca was captured in 1961. The
first orca captured lived two days in captivity then died and the reported cause of dead was
pneumonia. Many things come to mind when people think an orca is in captivity. Many people tend to
believe they are being treated, they will enjoy life more, and they will live longer due to the fact they
are receiving food and care. These statements are told to spectators at seaworld, marineland and many
other water parks around the globe. The facts disagree with these statements. Orca are very friendly

Most trainers received their job just walking in and applying. (Pg1) Another sad reason that orca s
may show aggression is most parks separate there baby s from the mother that way they can ship them
to other locations for visitors. Kalina was the first shamu born in captivity. Since most whales live
together in pods for all their life trainers thought Kalina and her mother Katina would live together.
Although at just age four management of Sea World decided that Kalina was too much of a distraction
when her mother was performing in shows. They relocated baby Kalina to another park separating the
baby from her mother. That same night her mother made a very high pitched long distance call trying
to find her daughter. Most scientists that work with whales say they have never heard anything like it.
Katina clearly was sad because her baby was taken from her. SeaWorld chose to ignore this though
because it was not profitable if the baby where to stay with her mother. Orcas lives are decreased
significantly in captivity. Today over one hundred fifty eight orcas have lived in captivity. Two thirds
of the orcas did not live past ten years (Pg1). The average life span for an orca s have only increased a
small bit since the nineteen sixties but still the average life span is still very low. The current average
life span for an orca is nine years. The average lifespan in the wild for female

Using The Method Of Heat Shock
Introduction:
Genetic Transformation is the process by which a segment of DNA of a specific organism is implanted
into another organism that reads the foreign organisms DNA and presents the phenotype for the
selected DNA segment. The genetic transformation can occur using three different methods, but in the
case of the experiment conducted and described below, was performed using the method of heat
shock. In the experiment, heat shock was used to genetically transform a piece of DNA from a
jellyfish into a sample of E. coli bacteria to observe if the transformation would occur. The
components necessary for the transformation were: pGLO, a plasmid acting as a vector for the
transformation and contained the DNA segment extracted from jellyfish that encodes for the
production of a protein that glows (GFP); Luria Bertani broth, the culture for the transformation;
Ampicillin Resistant gene, to sort cells so only the cells having absorbed plasmid will survive;
Arabinose, a sugar to aid in the growth of bacteria. The genetic transformation was tested using four
samples, each having a different environment. The first sample s environment consisted of +pGLO,
the Luria Bertani broth, and a gene resistant to Ampicillin. The second sample s environment
consisted of +pGLO, the Luria Bertani broth, a gene resistant to Ampicillin, and arabinose. The third
sample s environment consisted of pGLO, the Luria Bertani broth, and a gene resistant to Ampicillin.

The Role of Infrastructure in Information Assurance and Cyber Security
The attacks on critical infrastructure have become a growing cause of concern for governments and
private providers internationally whether caused through cybercriminals pursuing financial gain or by
hackers as political acts intended to emasculate governments and companies credibility. The anxiety
around these threats is vindicated, as research exhibits that attacks on the critical infrastructure are
greater than before in both complexity and prevalence and will endure to develop in the near future.
The site management and monitoring have progressed for critical infrastructure facilities as they have
become more increasingly connected to the internet. However, added convenience of connectivity has
turned once limited attack surface of these industries into a fertile landscape for cyber attacks. Due to
the potentially high profile impacts of attacks on critical infrastructure systems, these industries have
become even more attractive targets for cybercriminals (Cavelty, 2014).
Information assurance is a measure that safeguards and defends information and information systems
through ensuring availability, authentication, integrity, non repudiation, and confidentiality. In
addition, the measures comprise providing for information system restoration through incorporating

Suspending Dis belief!
In 1992, Jean Murray Walker, in her essay, High Fantasy, Rites of Passage and Cultural Value , wrote
that children growing up in American Society experience everywhere around them the collision of
powerful interests and values. Even though they may be nurtured within a family structure, chances
are they are NOT indoctrinated into a clearly defined community of values. (Walker 109) Instead,
materialism prevails, and popular fantasy in which good (us!) prevails against evil (them!) is standard
fare. However, Walker contends, and I agree, that the best fantasy provides something more, and
presents complex and clearly defined values, not vacant symbols of of the powerful versus the
powerless. (Walker, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Chappell 22) While Gaiman s The Graveyard Book takes a different approach and delves into what
is, by all accounts, unknown and unseen; it more than raises the question of what happens when one
dies and explores the physical world as well as the supernatural. Upon her death, Bod s mother

until he learns what he needs to learn to exist as a force for good in the world. Through disobedience
or excess curiosity, Bod sometimes finds himself in perilous situations along the way. Thoughout the
story we are reminded that life indeed is fragile; but death, for most, is not to be feared. The story
explores the existence of other spiritual beings who watch over us (the Hounds of God) and well as
some of the bad guys who once held places of honor in the current physical world. Indeed, the dance
of the macabre demonstrates that death is much closer than we think by it s inevitability and we would
do well to consider the consequences of our actions. In considering Bettleheim s reflections on the

Scientists have said, shortly after the Romanov family was executed, that it was proven that the entire

people have tried to prove that it was possible to escape the basement the family was held in, but

Costs And Benefits Of Public Expenditure Programs
Introduction The purpose of this paper is to critically examine and discuss the underlying theme of
differences of opinion related perceptions of costs and benefits associated with public expenditure
programs. In this course, three of the lessons that were closely connected were cost benefit analysis,
public expenditures related to social insurance and income maintenance, and expenditure programs for
the poor. The goal of this analysis is to demonstrate how perceptions of costs and benefits for
expenditure programs is often based more on rhetoric than actual fact. This paper begins with a brief
review of the take away of the three lessons from which this analysis is based. Then, a full
examination of the relationship and issue of the perception of costs and benefits of public expenditure
programs is provided.
Cost Benefit Analysis The first lesson of importance related to this analysis was the lesson on cost
benefit analysis. On the surface, cost benefit analysis is supposed to be a truly objective analysis of the
costs associated with a particular project or program, and the benefits of that program (Driesen, 2005).
If the costs outweigh the benefits, then the project or program is not undertaken. However, if the
benefits outweigh the costs, regardless of what the perception might be about the project or program,
then it is pursued. The deeper issue that must be considered is whether cost benefit analysis is purely
an objective task that is based solely on fiscal

Fate and Free Will in Harry Potter
One of the most pondered questions in human existence is whether our lives are determined by forces
which are beyond our control or by our own free will. It is widely believed that one s own destiny is
created by fate. However, some also consider the possibility that one s own choices can determine the
reality of one s existence. In Harry Potter, JK Rowling uses fate and choice as forces which shape the
events revolving around her protagonist, Harry Potter, as well as the other characters in the story.
Rowling does not side with one idea over the other, but instead, argues that both fate and choice are
significant factors that determine the events which happen during the course of an individual s
development. Although Rowling lays out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Your house will be something like your family within Hogwarts. You will have classes with the rest of

Each of the students share the common goal of winning the House Cup for their house. Individualism,
therefore, is constrained and each student is forced to act in a particular way in which they are
expected to. Aside from the Sorting Hat, other forces of fate also take part in determining the students
house associations. For example, Harry is sorted into Gryffindor, the same house his parents belonged
to. Similarly every member in the Weasley family had been a Gryffindor, while every member in the
Malfoy family had been a Slytherine. This reinforces the idea that the events in each character s life

assigned to a particular house based on forces beyond their control.

Current Sex Ed Curriculum
If you don t want your kids to drown in the pool, don t teach them to swim, hide all of the life jackets,
and let s pretend water doesn t exist. This is the general underlying concept of the Abstinence only
programs taught in schools across the country. Abstinence only curriculums are taught in thirty seven
states and is considered the most common method when instructing sex education. I wouldn t call
education though, seeing that only thirteen of these thirty seven states require the information
presented to students to be medically accurate. With a staggering amount of 850,000 teen pregnancies

These curriculums should be open to identifying with all genders, ethnicities, and sexual orientations.
It should address rape culture, what constitutes abuse, and what behaviors are acceptable in a sexual
relationship.
Abstinence only programs are ineffective. 62% of U.S. males and 70% of U.S. females have had
vaginal sex by the time they were eighteen. Humans are primal creatures with biological urges, and
assuming that we all have the same morals is outrageous. Abstinence only programs promote an idea
that if one has sex outside of marriage that it is dangerous and sinful. Though our body is a temple,
and we must respect our boundaries. Not everybody s boundaries are the same. Columbia University
concluded that virginity pledge programs increase pledge takers risk of pregnancy and STDs. 88% of
these pledge takers initiated sex prior to marriage, they were also proven less likely to use
contraception or get screened for sexually transmitted diseases. The Abstinence only program is
instilling humility in culture. Children cannot reach out and ask questions when sex and any kind of
sexual desire is ostracized. Sexual activity in high school students decreased noticeably from 1991 to
97, prior to funding abstinence only programs. Why did this happen? It wasn t the government s grand
old testament pitch? It was the introduction of contraceptives. There is nothing wrong with abstinence.

According to Kathy Shaidle a blogger on Taki s Magazine.com stated that, bullying merely is a fad

Nuclear Weapon Production Of Nuclear Weapons Essay

Nuclear Weapon Production Apocalypse
If the production of nuclear weaponry is not diminished, it will cause the end of everything. With the
production of nuclear weapons increasing, it will only be a matter of time until a nuclear war breaks
out. When a nuclear weapon is used, it has three killing modes. The first would be the impact, when
the bomb first hits. The second would be the shockwave that extends outward a good deal. Thirdly, the
radiation effect would kill several more after that.
How does a nuclear weapon work you might ask? Well there are two ways a nuclear weapon can
work. One is nuclear fission and the other is nuclear fusion. In nuclear fission, the nucleus of an atom
is split in two by a neutron. To do this, isotopes will need to be present such as uranium (uranium 235,
uranium 233) or plutonium (plutonium 239) (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament). An isotope is the
same element but with different numbers. Nuclear fusion is kind of how the sun works. According to
Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, two small atoms are fused together to create one large atoms.
This typically requires hydrogen or hydrogen isotopes (deuterium, tritium), to form a larger one
(helium isotopes) (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament).
As stated in a previous paragraph, a nuclear weapon will kill on contact. According to a website article

2013). This can include the type, extent, and location of the cancer. The registries collects information
about cancer patients and the treatments they receive and then stores it in a computer (CDC, 2013).
According to the CDC website, the purpose of cancer registries is to monitor cancer trends over time,
show cancer patterns in various populations and identify high risk groups (2013). The registries also
guides planning and evaluation of cancer control programs. The registry helps set priorities for

registrars an opportunity to gain hands on practice in core areas of cancer registry operations. Also,
NPC offers training materials called Brain Tumor Registry Reporting Training Materials. All cancer

The Pros And Cons Of The Korean War
The Korean War caught most in the international community off guard and happened only five years
after World War II had ended. It had been expected that the Soviets would test the West s will and
Korea had been listed as a possible battlefield. However, Berlin, Greece, Turkey, or Iran all seemed far
more vulnerable. The Korean War came as a shock to Turkey, as well. Besides negative impacts, the
Korean War presented the young Republic with several opportunities. Being a UN member and a
recipient of Marshall Aid from the USA, the Turkish government was still in need of improving its
image as a reliable country needed by the Western alliance for maintaining peace and security in the
world. After World War II, Turkey wished to be an equal partner ... Show more content on

Common Misunderstanding about Buddhism
A common misunderstanding of about Buddhism exist today, especially in the concept of
reincarnation. Since the origin of Buddhism derived from India where most people practice Hinduism
during that time, the common misunderstanding is that many people believes that when one passed on
and reincarnate, the individual possess the same souls as the one before. This is wrong because the
Buddhism does not believed in a permanent self in one s body.
The doctrine of Buddhism is to attain enlightenment and be released from the cycle of rebirth and
death, thus attaining Nirvana. Whereas, the doctrine of Hinduism was to escape the cycle of
reincarnation, and attain salvation. In Buddhism, rebirth occurs as a result of ignorance in the
unconscious life stream at the time of death. This term means a mind containing illusion and
defilement such as frustration, greed and selfishness are among them. The unconscious life stream is
considered to be endless stream of energy stretching back into the past and future. It is sometimes
known as the Mind.
Karma, being a powerful energy act upon the unconscious life stream and a rebirth occurs. This new
Rebirth does not occur with the any similar characteristic as the previous person had, because these
characteristics were completely erased during death. The only thing during the rebirth of the person is
the Mind. The mind is also an insubstantial energy, in other words it neither physical nor is it spiritual
properties but supernatural energy

Taking a Look at Gang Violence
Many American families share similar stories of their loved ones being murdered by violent street
gang members. These victims often had nothing to do with the gangs or gang members that killed
them. A street gang is a group of people who commonly involve themselves in heinous crimes such as
murder, assault, drug dealing, robbery, and car theft. These gangs are present all over the nation and
are starting to spread to other countries. It is imperative for the United States government to put a stop
to gangs and gang violence. Ed Gottesman and Richard Brown agree that for a group to be considered
a gang it needs six key elements: a collection of individuals, the use of symbols, special forms of
communication, permanence, a sense of turf, and involvement in crime. Gottesman and Brown go on
to say, What distinguishes a gang from other groups is its involvement in crime, which is often heavy
and recognized as a key feature of membership. This means that all gangs are involved in crimes, the
number one reason why the United States needs to put a stop to gang violence. Gangs form for four
main reasons: a need for family and companionship, basic needs such as food, a higher social status or
appeal, and protection. When there is a large migration or immigration of people, gangs tend to
increase in size because there are more people looking for these four basic needs. During the 1950s to
the 1970s, gangs grew greatly in the four regions of the United States, the East, Midwest,

As for a future teacher, I would have to disagree with the school s administrators on religion being in
public schools. When I teach my students, I would only teach them to learn and know the truth. I m
not religious; everyone has a different religion. I would teach my students the truth and what I believe
they should be aware not based on what they need to know from a biblical perspective. I m all for a
school to teach religious freedom and acceptance of all religious beliefs, but teach religion in public
school is not acceptable. If this was a Christian school or Islamic school, that is an entirely normal
thing to teach religion. I don t believe that public schools should oppress kids with religion. Especially
children that don t understand the religion and conform just because others show their belief.
Everyone should have the choice. Private schools, on the other hand, it is up to the school. Agree or
disagree doesn t matter to me. I think it s okay to teach about other religions, but not necessarily to
prepare them to become part of the faith. Like if they want to do more research and become a member
of that faith, cool, I don t want to force them one way or another. But I still think it s an important part
of history, and an important step in breeding tolerance, to make students aware of the basics and their
options I guess. Teach about it, not for it if that makes

The Models Have Different Approaches Towards The Concept...
Nursing Both models have different approaches towards the concept of nursing. Leininger presented
nursing as activities directed toward assisting, enabling, and supporting with the cultural beliefs and
values of the recipient of care (Masters, 2014, p. 69). Nursing is a general profession which includes
culturally congruent care; nurses provide care for members of diverse cultures. According to Jarošová
(2014), nursing is presented by three types of activities which are culturally congruent with the needs
and values of clients (p. 49). However, Roy defines nursing as using the four adaptive modes, promote
adaptation for individuals and groups, thus contributing to health, quality of life, and dying with
dignity (McEwen Wills, 2014, p. 179). Jarošová, (2014) explained that nursing focuses on adaptive
abilities of individual, families, and communities. By manipulating focal and contextual stimuli and
decreasing the influence of residual stimuli, nursing strives to reduce ineffective responses and
promote adaptation of individual in health and illness (p. 54). The metaparadigm concepts are well
defined in these two models. However, there are some similarities and differences found between the
two models. The relationship among the concepts is evident and is related to one another, and these
are consistent with the model s scientific assumptions. However, in philosophical assumptions, the
definition and relationship of the concepts are not clearly consistent.

The Issue Of South Africa
Many of the contemporary issues in South Africa can easily be associated with the apartheid laws
which devastated the country. The people of South Africa struggle day by day to reverse the most
cruel, yet well crafted, horrific tactic of social engineering. The concept behind apartheid emerged in
1948 when the nationalist party took over government, and the all white government enforced racial
segregation under a system of legislation . The central issues stem from 50 years of apartheid include
poverty, income inequality, land ownership rates and many other long term affects that still plague the

Around 1652, the Dutch East India Company created a settlement on the cape, leading to several other
indigenous peoples settling in the area as well . This tactic nearly parallels with the colonization
beginning throughout the rest of the world. White supremacy gradually took over South Africa as
more and more of them colonized the country, and worked their way into government positions. The
English pushed the natives out and eventually did not care about race, merely about the money that
came from labor . The Land Act of 1913, was believed to be the initial beginning of the apartheid
laws. This act initiated by white supremacists marked the first major downfall of segregation for the
colored and Indian peoples of South Africa. The Afrikans were essentially divided into nine nations
and approximately 93% of the land was reserved for the white people. 2/3 of the population of South
Africa at the time was considered African, or native people, and these people were all banned from
freely buying land , making conditions very harsh, and malnutrition was extremely common .
Urbanization occurred with white people in power simply increasing the segregation between races.
Africans continued to live and work in absolutely terrible conditions. They often resided in the
outskirts of cities in derisory housing, with poor sanitation, were lucky to have a bit of electricity, and
had awful people to manage their workplace. The

Miracles In The Book Grand Miracle By C. S. Lewis
Miracles by C.S Lewis centers on miracles in his book he wrote about the Grand Miracle which can be

Christian worldview. In the sense that Miracle as laid this foundation for Christians and their basic
makeup of the world. He stated his views about miracles he believes there are two ways we can view
and interpret miracles which is nature and supernature. The fitness or credibility, of the Grand miracle
itself cannot obviously, be judged by the same standard (page 174). The people who view miracles
from a supernatural perspective accept that there is an empirical proof which is not just clear in history
that can validate all the importance of the Grand Miracle that the Christian religion believe exist.
While the people who view miracles using the natural perspective disagree that there is no any

Katherine s Speech In Taming Of The Shrew
The ambiguity of whether Katherine s final speech is authentic, in which she apparently proclaims and
promulgates female submissiveness, has been thought to define the tone of versions of Taming of the
Shrew. However, the attitudes evoked by the monologue can also indicate values of society at the
times which the play is presented. Generally, four main theories have emerged regarding the true
intent behind Katherine s speech (Wikipedia, 2017):
It is sincere and Katherine has been successfully tamed .
It is sincere, but because Katherine has fallen in love with Petruchio.
It is ironic and is deceiving Petruchio by parroting a socially acceptable, totally impersonal catalogue
of honours a wife owes her husband (De Wachter, 2016).
It is neither, following the farcical disposition of the play within a play framing device.
Up until the 20th century, most of the last speeches by Katherine have adhered with the first option,

  • 2. Edward Livingston Voices Of Freedom Until the 1770s most colonists believed themselves to be the freest political system humankind has ever known (Foner 73). Overtime conflict began as tension began to build between the colonists and British authority due to many factors one including a series of acts meant to punish the colonies for their defiance against Great Britain. Over time this led to the fight for the independence of the thirteen colonies also known as the revolutionary war. In voices of freedom the author of article twenty three , Edward Livingston established the difference between a limited monarchy and absolute monarchy. Livingston s believed that any person in his senses should prefer a limited monarchy. Stating that absolute monarchy caused the whole country to be overspread with ... These measures destroyed the legitimacy of the imperial government in the eyes of many colonists as these laws not only effected Massachusetts but they also angered other colonies. Disagreement and resistance quickly began to spread across small towns and rural areas to those who were not previously part of the resistance. soon in 1774 a colonial protest group was born known as the sons of liberty which also helped pave the way to the spark of rebellion. Another big part in inspiring colonist to fight for freedom was a pamphlet titled common sense written by Thomas Paine. This pamphlet explained the need for independence in a way most would understand. Paine developed a new style of political writing which helped include more people in political discussion. The second phase of the project includes constructing a pulp mill and will cost US$1 billion. Today (2004) Pérez main problem is that he has to decide whether the company should go through a horizontal expansion or a forward integration. In others words, if the company should continue with the second phase of The Nueva Aldea project becoming the largest market pulp producer in the world and having the possibility of foregoing other large projects in the next decade or to take advantage of their low costs in pulp production by forward integrating into paper manufacturing. Evaluation of the two alternatives: As regards the horizontal expansion, there are several points that must be taken into account as they demonstrate that this option will be the correct one: * This expansion will grow the company market share because they have a cost advantage. * For a company is better and easier to grow in a sector that they are presently functioning. * The market seems to be moving in favor. * As a result of a horizontal expansion the company can achieve economies of scale and reduce significantly their costs. * Pulp is Arauco´s main industrial activity, generating up 52% of EBITDA * Pulp production is the core competency of Arauco. * Becoming the market leader will allow them to control supply and demand of the market of pulp. * They have young forests. * Arauco is one of the world´s premier forestry enterprises ... Why Attend Lakeland My main reasons for wanting to attend Lakeland would have to be that it is close to home, my cousin is attending and has told me many great things about the wide option of classes and opportunities, and to further educate myself on computer science as a whole before picking what part of it I would like to make a career out of. As of the time being, my future career goal is to become either a network administrator or a computer engineer. • 5. Michelangelo Creation Of Adam Essay Michelangelo is without a doubt, one of the most brilliant artists in history. One of his most famous masterpieces occupies what is probably the largest canvas on earth: The Sistine Chapel. Each fresco contains a glimpse of creation using nine separate stories from the book of Genesis. Yet the most famous image from this 134 ft. x 45 ft. painting is The Creation of Adam. The image of God reaching down to Adam is so commonplace that many forget, or do not know, how controversial this portrayal of the divine was in the 16th century. God was a divine king seated upon a throne who wore royal robes, a papal crown, and held a scepter in his hand. This was not a God that conveyed a sense of warmness, intimacy, or desire for human contact. God was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interestingly, the elements that represent this in the painting are God s clothing, nearness to Adam, and the extended finger. God is no longer clothed in royal finery, but wears a garment that offers no protection or distance from the created. By adding how close God is to Adam, a strong sense of human intimacy emerges. Yet the most significant feature of this painting is the outstretched finger of God. Through touch, God imparts life to Adam. Through touch, Adam receives not only physical breath, but spiritual breath. Michelangelo himself said, To touch can be to give life. This was true of his famous painting, but is also true for humanity today. (Keltner) Research has shown how vital touch is to human development. At the University of California, Berkley, professor of psychology Dacher Keltner, has conducted extensive research on the science of human touch. In a lecture to his students, Keltner said, In recent years, a wave of studies has documented some incredible emotional and physical health benefits that come from touch. This research is suggesting that touch is truly fundamental to human communication, bonding, and health. (emphasis mine) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Native American Themes In Louise Erdrich s Antelope Wife Louise Erdrich is a Native American author from Little Falls, Minnesota. Her mother is a Chippewa Indian and her father is German American. Through her writing, she demonstrates native ideas and culture. Native American themes are often present in her works. She shines a light on both perspectives of her background. Some of her works mention reservations in Minnesota and North Dakota which connects to her birthplace and where she grew up. Erdrich did not really look into her native heritage until she went to Dartmouth and they had just opened the Native American department. She delved more into the subject and started to use it in her writing. Erdrich gives readers, whether or not they are Native American or not, a look at Native American culture from the eyes of both natives and others in society. This theme is present in many of her works including: Antelope Wife and Future Home of a Living God. Antelope Wife is a short story by Louise Erdrich. Antelope Wife is about a Native American man belonging to the Chippewa tribe in Minnesota who is a teacher. One day he laid his eyes on four women: three daughters and their mother. He was determined to have the mother and he ends up kidnapping her. He gets her (the antelope) to fall in love with her, but he was warned by Jimmy Badger that these women are generally curse the men who go after them. Towards the end of the story, she becomes overweight and ugly and the man did not expect this to happen to him. There is already a connection to native culture in the title of this short story, Antelope . Antelope is a spirit animal in the native heritage. Antelope symbolizes being on the movie and action oriented. Deep in the fields of tall golden grasses in the desert the Antelope thrives, ever watchful and discerning ready to move in an instant. The Antelope perceives subtle body movements and signals from the other members of the herd. When danger is near they move as one, quickly and confidently with finesse and confidence, their maneuverability allows them to disappear into the vast expanse of wilderness with no more than a moments notice. (Universe of Symbolism, Antelope). This symbolism is referred to towards the end of the poem by Jimmy Badger. If you see one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Piglets are closely compared to humans during the decomposition process because it s covered with hair, attracts insects, and its body fat distribution is similar to that of a humans. Decomposition is a continuous process that can take as long as years depending of the environment the corpse is in. There are multiple factors that play a role in how fast or slow the decomposition process can be such as drugs, trauma to the body, access by scavengers, and clothing. During the video there were five distinct stages of decompositions. The first stage is the process of autolysis. Autolysis consists of cellular breakdown, the change of body temperature, and the invasion of insect in the body, laying eggs. The second stage is putrefaction which is the bloating of the body due to bacteria and the gases produced. The third stage is black putrefaction in which maggots and insects destroy ... The cause of death could have left openings in the body making it easy for insects and bacteria to infest the corpse beginning the stages of decay. In some cases when drugs are found in the system of the corpse depending of the drug, it can either speed up the process of decomposition or slow it down. Greek geometry eventually passed into the hands of the great Islamic scholars, who translated it and added to it. All around us we can observe some geometrical principles, which is probably what started the ancients on their way to developing this field of study. The word geometry has its roots in the Greek work geometrein, which means earth measuring . There were many circumstances in which primitive people were forced to take on geometric topics, man had to learn with situations involving distance, bounding their land, and constructing walls and homes. Using The Method Of Heat Shock Introduction: Genetic Transformation is the process by which a segment of DNA of a specific organism is implanted into another organism that reads the foreign organisms DNA and presents the phenotype for the selected DNA segment. The genetic transformation can occur using three different methods, but in the case of the experiment conducted and described below, was performed using the method of heat shock. In the experiment, heat shock was used to genetically transform a piece of DNA from a jellyfish into a sample of E. coli bacteria to observe if the transformation would occur. The components necessary for the transformation were: pGLO, a plasmid acting as a vector for the transformation and contained the DNA segment extracted from jellyfish that encodes for the production of a protein that glows (GFP); Luria Bertani broth, the culture for the transformation; Ampicillin Resistant gene, to sort cells so only the cells having absorbed plasmid will survive; Arabinose, a sugar to aid in the growth of bacteria. The genetic transformation was tested using four samples, each having a different environment. The first sample s environment consisted of +pGLO, the Luria Bertani broth, and a gene resistant to Ampicillin. Costs And Benefits Of Public Expenditure Programs Introduction The purpose of this paper is to critically examine and discuss the underlying theme of differences of opinion related perceptions of costs and benefits associated with public expenditure programs. In this course, three of the lessons that were closely connected were cost benefit analysis, public expenditures related to social insurance and income maintenance, and expenditure programs for the poor. The goal of this analysis is to demonstrate how perceptions of costs and benefits for expenditure programs is often based more on rhetoric than actual fact. This paper begins with a brief review of the take away of the three lessons from which this analysis is based. Then, a full examination of the relationship and issue of the perception of costs and benefits of public expenditure programs is provided. Cost Benefit Analysis The first lesson of importance related to this analysis was the lesson on cost benefit analysis. On the surface, cost benefit analysis is supposed to be a truly objective analysis of the costs associated with a particular project or program, and the benefits of that program (Driesen, 2005). If the costs outweigh the benefits, then the project or program is not undertaken. However, if the benefits outweigh the costs, regardless of what the perception might be about the project or program, then it is pursued. In Harry Potter, JK Rowling uses fate and choice as forces which shape the events revolving around her protagonist, Harry Potter, as well as the other characters in the story. Nuclear Weapon Production Of Nuclear Weapons Essay Nuclear Weapon Production Apocalypse Hunter Honeycutt Western Kentucky University Glasgow Nuclear Weapon Production Apocalypse If the production of nuclear weaponry is not diminished, it will cause the end of everything. With the production of nuclear weapons increasing, it will only be a matter of time until a nuclear war breaks out. When a nuclear weapon is used, it has three killing modes. The first would be the impact, when the bomb first hits. The second would be the shockwave that extends outward a good deal. Thirdly, the radiation effect would kill several more after that. How does a nuclear weapon work you might ask? Well there are two ways a nuclear weapon can work. One is nuclear fission and the other is nuclear fusion. In nuclear fission, the nucleus of an atom is split in two by a neutron. To do this, isotopes will need to be present such as uranium (uranium 235, uranium 233) or plutonium (plutonium 239) (Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament). An isotope is the same element but with different numbers. Nuclear fusion is kind of how the sun works. According to Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, two small atoms are fused together to create one large atoms. These victims often had nothing to do with the gangs or gang members that killed them. A street gang is a group of people who commonly involve themselves in heinous crimes such as murder, assault, drug dealing, robbery, and car theft. These gangs are present all over the nation and are starting to spread to other countries. It is imperative for the United States government to put a stop to gangs and gang violence. Ed Gottesman and Richard Brown agree that for a group to be considered a gang it needs six key elements: a collection of individuals, the use of symbols, special forms of communication, permanence, a sense of turf, and involvement in crime. Gottesman and Brown go on to say, What distinguishes a gang from other groups is its involvement in crime, which is often heavy and recognized as a key feature of membership. This means that all gangs are involved in crimes, the number one reason why the United States needs to put a stop to gang violence. Gangs form for four main reasons: a need for family and companionship, basic needs such as food, a higher social status or appeal, and protection. When there is a large migration or immigration of people, gangs tend to increase in size because there are more people looking for these four basic needs. In the video, it talks about religion, copyrighted laws, teacher liability, and child abuse. While watching this video, I don t think any of this will affect me when it comes to teaching. I agree as a teacher it is your responsibility when the kids are under your supervision. When a child gets hurt, you are the one to get the blame because those kids are your responsibility. I m all for a school to teach religious freedom and acceptance of all religious beliefs, but teach religion in public school is not acceptable. If this was a Christian school or Islamic school, that is an entirely normal thing to teach religion. I don t believe that public schools should oppress kids with religion. Especially children that don t understand the religion and conform just because others show their belief. Everyone should have the choice. Private schools, on the other hand, it is up to the school. Agree or disagree doesn t matter to me. I think it s okay to teach about other religions, but not necessarily to prepare them to become part of the faith. Like if they want to do more research and become a member of that faith, cool, I don t want to force them one way or another. • 29. The Models Have Different Approaches Towards The Concept... Nursing Both models have different approaches towards the concept of nursing. Leininger presented nursing as activities directed toward assisting, enabling, and supporting with the cultural beliefs and values of the recipient of care (Masters, 2014, p. 69). Nursing is a general profession which includes culturally congruent care; nurses provide care for members of diverse cultures. According to Jarošová (2014), nursing is presented by three types of activities which are culturally congruent with the needs and values of clients (p. 49). However, Roy defines nursing as using the four adaptive modes, promote adaptation for individuals and groups, thus contributing to health, quality of life, and dying with dignity (McEwen Wills, 2014, p. 179). Jarošová, (2014) explained that nursing focuses on adaptive abilities of individual, families, and communities. By manipulating focal and contextual stimuli and decreasing the influence of residual stimuli, nursing strives to reduce ineffective responses and promote adaptation of individual in health and illness (p. 54). The metaparadigm concepts are well defined in these two models. However, there are some similarities and differences found between the two models. The relationship among the concepts is evident and is related to one another, and these are consistent with the model s scientific assumptions. However, in philosophical assumptions, the definition and relationship of the concepts are not clearly consistent. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Katherine s Speech In Taming Of The Shrew The ambiguity of whether Katherine s final speech is authentic, in which she apparently proclaims and promulgates female submissiveness, has been thought to define the tone of versions of Taming of the Shrew. However, the attitudes evoked by the monologue can also indicate values of society at the times which the play is presented. Generally, four main theories have emerged regarding the true intent behind Katherine s speech (Wikipedia, 2017): It is sincere and Katherine has been successfully tamed . It is sincere, but because Katherine has fallen in love with Petruchio. It is ironic and is deceiving Petruchio by parroting a socially acceptable, totally impersonal catalogue of honours a wife owes her husband (De Wachter, 2016). It is neither, following the farcical disposition of the play within a play framing device. Up until the 20th century, most of the last speeches by Katherine have adhered with the first option, including the traditional Globe Theatre adaptation. Katherine s acting in the Globe Theatre production, grounded in her facial expressions and tone of voice, shows sincerity and truthfulness in her declaration (V.ii). On the basis of this portrayal, it could be said that in a historical Elizabethan context, audiences would have accepted and deemed the domestication mechanisms and taming practises employed by Petruchio as normal.
