How Did The Olympic Games Influence Ancient Greece
The date 776 BC was the first documented Olympic Games in Ancient Greece. According to Greek
mythology Pelops founded it in Olympia, the Games take place every four years at the same location,
the sanctuary of Zeus at Olympia, to honor Zeus. They honored Zeus at the Games because he was the
king of the Gods, and they thought that if they honored the king of the Gods that they would be
honoring all of the Gods. The Olympic Games was good for the people of Ancient Greece, it attracted
the rich and poor, brought Greece together, and was all in the name of the King of their Gods, Zeus.
The Olympic Games were held every four years at the same place, the Sanctuary of Zeus at Olympia,
to honor Zeus. Most Greeks believed in the same group of Gods, though they did acknowledge that
Zeus was the king of the Gods. That is why they worshiped him at the Games, by worshiping him at
his holy city, they were honoring all of the Gods together. The competitors in the Games were either
professional athletes or Aristocrats. There were no amateurs or women participating in the games. The
spirit and the actual Games itself was good for the people. Most saw it good for the public s spirit and

How Hitler Lost the War Essay
As an influential, forceful person, Adolf Hitler used his articulate speech to empower the Nazi
political party. Hitler received complete power as the Chancellor of Germany, after passing the
Enabling Act. He utilized the totalitarian power to create the Third Reich, and through military moves
and a propaganda movement headed by Joseph Goebbels, he made a great impact on the Germany s
citizens. Hitler influenced the Germans into sharing a deep sentiment of nationalism, and the
significance of the Aryan, or master, race. With this widespread attitude and the mobilization of the
German military, Hitler spearheaded the second world war. Despite the positive contributors to the
German force, Hitler s many mistakes hindered the armies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This surprise approach startled the Allies, mostly since the thought of massive tanks traveling through
the Ardennes Forest was incredible. This German movement pushed the Allies to Dunkirk, a location
on the English Channel. Hitler then commanded the German forces to turn around, deciding that the
Luftwaffe were more suitable to finish the job and win the battle. The Luftwaffe had minimal success
after a dense fog obstructing the vision of the Luftwaffe and making it possible for the British to
escape to safety. This mistake was prodigious Hitler s decision prevented the Germans from wiping
out the British army. If this had occurred, Germany would have had a great opportunity to invade
Britain amphibiously. However, Hitler did not take advantage of the opportunity, and missed out.
Hitler s Rape of the Ukraine was his most critical of blunders. From the perspective of the Slavs, the
Germans seemed to be liberators, come to save the people from the cruel jurisdiction of Stalin. If
Hitler had used this to his advantage, he could have had more manpower in his attack of Moscow.
Instead, he looked at the Slavs as mongrels, an inferior race. The Ukraines also had more experience
dealing with the Russian winter and terrain. However Hitler was unable to look past his prejudice, and
shipped the Slavs off to concentration camps to be exterminated. Hitler took their food and treated
them uncivilly. Had he done right by these people, he would have gained

Microsoft Azure And Google App Engine Essay
Data location and data segregation are of importance in the cloud, given the disparate physical
location of shared computing resources. It is a possibility that cloud users be under statutory,
regulatory or contractual obligations to ensure that data is held and managed in a certain way. To
understand where the data is stored in the cloud, a person must what type of cloud deployment models
there are in use. There are four different cloud deployment models that are used in the cloud
computing environment. The four models are private cloud, public cloud, hybrid cloud and
community cloud. A private cloud can be owned or leased and managed by the organization or a third
party and exist at on premises or off premises. A public cloud is an infrastructure is provided to many
customers is managed by a third party and exist beyond the company firewall, examples would be
Microsoft Azure and Google App Engine. A hybrid cloud is a composition of two or more cloud
deployment models, which links data in such a way that the data transfer takes place between them
without affecting each other. An example of a hybrid cloud would be Amazon Web Services (ABS).
The community cloud is a model that is shared by several organizations for a shared cause and may be
managed by them or a third party service provider and rarely offered cloud model. The cloud
environment operating according to this model may exist locally or remotely. An example of a
Community Cloud includes Facebook. Most customers

The Importance Of Forest Depletion In Nepal
Forest Area: 33.7% 25.4% (1990 2015). The forest area has decreased due to increased deforestation
and a risk of forest fires in Nepal.
Finland has supported Nepal s forestry initiatives since the 80s, and it includes large scale preparation,
plantation and implementation of Forestry Sector Master Plan (1988 2011), support to Community
Forestry and Leasehold Forestry Programs, Scientific Forest Management initiatives, National Forest
Resource Inventories and others.
Physiologically, the country is divided into five regions, according to altitude (the Terai, the Siwalik,
the Middle Mountains, the High Mountains and the High Himal). Of the total land area, forests cover
4.27 million ha (29.0 percent) and shrub covers 1.56 million ha (10.6 percent) (DFRS 1999). The
annual rate of forest depletion in the Terai was 1.3 percent from 1978/79 to 1990/91. In the hilly area,
forest areas have declined at an annual rate of 2.3 percent from 1978/79 to 1994. In the entire country,
from 1978 79 to 1994, the forest area has decreased at an annual rate of 1.7%. This trend indicates the
ongoing pressure on forest resources, especially in the Terai. The graph above shows the regional

Syrian Civil War Is The Worst Humanitarian Crisis Of Our Time
Syria s Civil War is by far the worst humanitarian crisis of our time ( Quick Facts: What You Need to
Know about the Syria Crisis ). What started as anti government protests escalated into a full scale civil
war. Half the country s population more than 11 million people have been killed or forced to flee their
homes as a result of the Syrian Civil War(Asare, Patrick, Gritten, Offer, Rodgers). As forces loyal to
Dictator Bashar al Assad, those opposed to his rule, and jihadist militants from ISIS clash, the
innocent civilians impacted by the war are scrambling to find sanctuary. The recent crisis around the
influx of the Syrian refugees escaping the Syrian Civil War impacts all countries, particularly the
USA. The United States Congress has passed a bill that, as of January 2016, will permit 10,000 Syrian
refugees into the United States. Syria is extremely diverse in ethnic makeup, but relatively
homogeneous in regards to socioeconomic status, majority of Syrians lacking equal access to
economic opportunity. In fact, the Syrian Civil War has caused several issues that have ruined
prospective financial developments. As a result, the Syrian pound has depreciated to the lowest it has
ever been (Butter). By coming to the USA, Syrian refugees can find several opportunities where they
otherwise would have been threatened or marginalized. Although the number of Syrian refugees
coming into the USA is relatively small, they are helpful to the American economy, bringing important

The Issue Of Legalizing Marijuana
Does it really come to morality after all? The decision to legalize marijuana has been subject for
debate since first introduced in 1969; many arguing the fact that we are sitting on an industry worth an
estimated 113 billion dollars. For once we have an opportunity to make a real impact in our economy.
We have an aid on the war on drugs . But are we then showing our children that legalizing drugs is
really the answer to our problems or does only the big picture mater in the end? Will this bring for a
stronger, richer nation or will this bring us down to our knees. Colorado Amendment 64 was passed on
November 6, 2012. Section 16 legalized the personal use and regulation of marijuana for adults 21 and
over as well as commercial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This brings us to the beginning of the debate over this issue. In truth, everything has those who favor
and those who oppose. In 1969 Gallup first questioned Americans and found that only 12% favored
legalizing marijuana use. Today that number has risen to 53%. A National Survey on Drug and Health
says that it is the most commonly used illicit drug in the United Stated. The government survey
showed that 18.9 million Americans 12 years or older had used marijuana in the past month. So what
does this information tell us? That legal or not millions of Americans have and still use marijuana here
in the U.S. This has been said a lot by an advocate in favor of the legalization of marijuana, his name
is Tom Tancredo. Tom Tancredo is the one who said, Marijuana prohibition has failed us. It s crippled
our nation over the matter when we have the power to change what is. This former Republican
Congressman wrote a column for the Gazette saying, that despite his conservative beliefs he is in fact
supporting Amendment 64 calling marijuana prohibition to be wasteful and ineffective program.
Nothing proved to be truer as the production and sale brought millions of profit annually to the illegal
cultivation and sale of marijuana. Not to mention the tens of billions we spend trying to prohibit the
consumption of something less harmful the alcohol. In Colorado marijuana users are helping out
public schools. The people who

Themes Of Shaun Tan s Journey With The Lost Thing

themes through several ways throughout his film, themes have been presented through feelings,
actions and events. Shaun tan encompasses numerous themes of the film: the friendship between the
boy and the lost thing, the loneliness faced by the boy and the lost thing and social awareness in our
society. The writer Shaun Tan seems to be criticising the events in the film between the boy, the lost

Marco Polo And Marco Polo
Throughout the years we ve seen many warriors, kings or queens, emperors leave some sort of legacy
or mark in our world today. Many are remembered for the greatest or probably worse things they ve
done. Also change has taken a major role in our world today. Two great examples that contributed in
the global change would be Marco polo and Elizabeth Woodville. Marco polo was best known for
being a traveler though he didn t like to be referred as one. Polo considered himself a wayfarer. At the
young age of 17, polo went to his first journey to Cathay, modern day china. There the wayfarer met
the Chinese emperor Kublai khan. Marco stayed for 17 years learning the Chinese culture. Later
Marco became Khan s second hand. Together they created a duo. Khan send him to missions whom
which Polo completely excelled them. Marco polo is also known for his former book, the travels of
Marco polo , which he wrote during his capture in the Genoese prison. During his imprisonment, he
met a write who then later on will help him out publish that book. In the other hand, Elizabeth
Woodville also known as the White queen, was the first commoner to become queen of England. She
was widowed by John grey, before Grey s death she had 2 kids with him. Elizabeth was left with
nothing until she met a handsome king which shell marry later on. His name was King Edward. This
marriage brought so many troubles to her life. Thanks to Richard Neville, everything went down the

Criticism of Religious Hypocrites in Moliere s Tartuffe...
Criticism of Religious Hypocrites in Tartuffe
Moliere rocked the 17th century French world with his comedy Tartuffe in 1664. Although, religious
factions kept the play banned from theatres from 1664 1669, Tartuffe emerged from the controversy as
one of the all time great comedies. Tartuffe is a convincing religious hypocrite. He is a parasite who is
sucking Orgon, the rich trusting father, for all he is worth. Orgon does not realize that Tartuffe is a
phony, and caters to his every whim. For instance, he reneges on his promise to let his daughter
Mariane, marry Valere. Instead he demands that she wed Tartuffe, whom she despises. He also
banishes his own son, Damis, from his house for speaking out against Tartuffe and ... Show more

If one takes the trouble to examine my comedy in good faith, he will surely see that my intentions are
innocent throughout, and tend in no way to make fun of what men revere; that I have presented the
subject with all the precautions that its delicacy imposes; and that I have used all the art and skill that I
could to distinguish clearly the character of the hypocrite from that of the truly devout man. (Meyer
1509)
The play successfully conveys this message because Tartuffe is a first class villain. He is as
manipulative as Lady Macbeth, as greedy as Prince John, as underhanded as Modred, and as clever as
Darth Vader. Through his every word and deed it becomes more apparent that he is thoroughly bad.
More specifically, he not only wants to marry Orgon s daughter, but wants to defile his wife as well.
He is not satisfied with living off of Orgon s wealth but wants to possess it. At no time in the play does
Tartuffe resemble a truly pious man. The play never mocks God, but only those who use his name to
prey on unsuspecting fools.
The part of the fool is played to the hilt by Orgon. Throughout the first three acts he is such a
domineering idiot that he is not even worth pitying. He, along with his mother, play the part of the
blind zealot. What he chooses to call Christian love leads him to punish his family and himself
because he takes away their freedom of choice and integrity and his own property. But, Orgon is not

Complexity Theory as Applied to Nursing Essay
Complexity Theory as Applied to Nursing, 2005
Abstract
Many conventional ideas about the world we live in have been shaken to their foundations by the
emerging concepts of chaos and complexity. Insights are now being gained from the application of
complexity theory into phenomena varying in scale from the natural sciences such as biology to the
concept of caring in the nurse patient relationship. These new scientific ideas have significant
implications for the theory and practice of nursing.
This paper will cover four key concepts from complexity theory that will be introduced as relevance to
nursing. These include: unpredictable dynamic systems; the whole is greater than the sum of its parts;
fuzzy and permeable boundaries; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If nothing is done, body mass will decline at a steady and predictable rate due to a catabolic
metabolism. However, dynamic systems can produce startling variability over short time scales due to
their sensitivity to feedback.
This variability can make the system appear chaotic and unpredictable, rather like the weather.
However, computer analysis of such systems reveals that there is a deeper underlying order within the
apparent chaos.
There are rules governing the behavior of the system over a short range in space and time, therefore it
is referred to as deterministic or predictable chaos. The challenge is to discover the rules and
determine how they operate so that we might gain insight into the apparently chaotic behavior before
us. Deterministic chaos should be distinguished from unpredictable chaos which refers to random
fluctuation or background noise, often distractingly superimposed upon the bigger picture. This is
often the case over long ranges and periods of time and cannot be predicted. It is not possible in
human experience (Stacey, Douglas, Shaw, 2002).
An individual s health behavior is influenced by feedback from his or her actions. Small decisions
made today can have major, unforeseen consequences tomorrow. A moment s reflection also reveals
that the health care system and nursing has the characteristics of a dynamic system in that what
happens today affects

An Interview With Andrea Williams, Principal Of Elena...
Using Strategic Planning
This information was gathered in an interview with Andrea Williams, Principal of Theresa Bunker
Elementary. In the past three years that Mrs. Williams has been principal of this school she has
brought a strong focus onto using data to make appropriate instructional decisions as well as execute
strategic planning to help the school progress. The implementation of the PLC process has helped the
teachers to gain an understanding of how valuable data collection and analysis can be for their
teaching practice. Looking at data also helps the school attain the yearly goals laid out by the district s
strategic plan. One of the first steps taken in developing a strategic plan for the school is to gather and
analyze data in order to find the school s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities for growth as well as
any threats to the progress of the school. Early in the year the strategic planning team will review
quantitative data collected from student achievement scores, attendance rates, discipline trends,
financial records, transportation reports, and so forth. Depending upon the specific issue addressed in
the planning process, these types of quantitative data serve to inform decision making processes. The
collection of qualitative data is also an integral part of best practices in development of a strategic
plan. Qualitative data collection includes use of surveys, focus groups, and interviews with key
stakeholder groups. It is important and useful to

Biometrics And The Black Market For Recognition Purposes
Just imagine walking into a GAP clothing store as a device measures a person s eyes for recognition
and then proceeds to deliver custom content on items previously purchased. In the futuristic sci fi
thriller Minority Report a scene, exactly as described, unfolds. The story was set in Washington D.C.
in the year 2054. While the film was filled with hero s, hacker s, and drama, a city wide optical
recognition system was used to identify its citizens. Minority Report gave an interesting perspective
on how biometrics might work in the future for recognition purposes. It also sparks the imagination on
what other forms of biometrics could be used to identify individuals. Is a journey to the black market

Biometrics is a term that refers to the broad amassment of various human characteristics. In computer
science, biometrics authentication is used for access and a form of identification. Biometrics can also
be used to survey and identify individuals in groups. Statistically, biometrics are unique and

Cloud Computing System For Computing
Cloud Computing Introduction Cloud computing system, which functions based on the concept of
providing computing as a utility, can be defined as the method of providing resources for computing
on demand, using remotely operational servers on the internet for data storage, processing data and
managing data. Its equivalent to using a computer for its services, only without having to carry the
hardware for it. Cloud applications, being dynamically scalable, agile and capable of running virtual
applications and even an OS on a browser help in reducing costs of resource acquisition. A cloud
computing model has the following basic features: Without involving any human interaction, the users
can access any contracted service/ resource, be it data processing, memory space or application
programs as a service from the provider. These contracted services/ resources can be availed by any
user anywhere, anytime via the internet. These computing resources are distributed in various data
centres across the globe which is shared by users from any part of the world. It goes by pay what you
use for policy. The user pays only for the resources they use. Also, a big advantage is that from a user
s perspective, all the resources are unlimited, and flexible for access. Good QoS (Quality of Service) is
guaranteed by the provider. The cloud services are elastic. So the user can ask for more services/
resources whenever they require, also terminate, when not required. Cloud computers

Use Of Handheld Cameras Changed The Way Of Police
The use of smartphone cameras changed the way that police were perceived as well. Accusations of
police brutality could now be supported with video evidence instead of just a victim s word against an
officer. While filming police during stops and quality of life policing can hold the officer accountable
in incidents of police brutality, cell phone video footage doesn t always tell the whole story. In August,
two Kansas police officers came under scrutiny after a 36 second video was posted on social media of
them roughly restraining a suspect on the ground (Hunter). However, the police s body cam and dash
cam footage told a different story: after the suspect, John Harrison was pulled over for not wearing a
seatbelt, the police discovered the smell of marijuana coming from his car, that he was driving with a
suspended license and had more than 20 warrants out for his arrest (Kiesling and Smith). The dash
cam video shows Harrison resisting arrest, attempting to flee (Hunter) and punching one of the police
officers (Kiesling and Smith). The police were found innocent and Harrison was put in jail for
outstanding warrants and is facing charges for driving with a suspended license, battery on a police
officer, and obstruction of justice (Hunter).

Royal Stuart Family Influence On Macbeth
William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Macbeth was heavily influenced through its setting, characters,

family who ruled at one point and time. The name Macbeth is actually borrowed from a former king in
the Stuart Family named Macbeth, who took over the throne after coincidently killing his cousin, that
happened to be the King, and also happened to be named Duncan. Shakespeare may have taken the
names from history, but what transpired in the play between the characters of Macbeth and Duncan,

Rivers And Streams Receiving Urban Runoff Essay
Introduction
Rivers and streams receiving urban runoff have been shown to be toxic to aquatic species (e.g. H.
azteca), due to the presence of pyrethroids (Budd et al., 2007; Weston and Lydy, 2010; Weston et al,
2014). These pyrethroids are greatly toxic, with acute species mortality possible at even small
concentrations of one part per trillion (Weston and Jackson, 2009), yet urban runoff regularly contains
concentrations greater than 20 parts per trillion (Weston and Lydy, 2012). A significant part of the
runoff from urban areas encompassing Sacramento, California flows to the American River. Thus, the
toxic level of the rivers and tributaries of the American River and its sensitivity to aquatic species has
been studied through modeling efforts (Jorgenson et al, 2013). Urban runoff, which contains a
considerable amount of bifenthrin, a subset of pyrethroids, makes up a large portion of the river flow
after a storm event. Due to increased use of bifenthrin in Sacramento County, bifenthrin concentration
can be as high as 0.018 ppb, which is more than 5 times the 96 h middle effective concentration
(EC50) for loss of motion to most aquatic species (Weston et al., 2009; Holmes et al., 2008; Hintzen et
al., 2009; Weston and Lydy, 2010). The aggregated sum of pyrethroids active ingredient (A.I.) used by
licensed professional pesticide applicators in Sacramento County, California, was estimated as

The, And The Iliad Essay
1. We are the proper inheritors of these great thinkers, but we tend to approach life with just our own
resources and whatever insights we can pick up from the people around us (Morris ix).
So many of my classmates through the years had complained about having to read excerpts from old
stories. They didn t understand why they had to read pieces of Beowulf, or the Iliad. Only a handful of
us enjoyed what we read and could comprehend the cryptic writings. Those who were willing to read
and maybe reread the text were able to retain more information so they would be better equip for some
other circumstances. Not only did they pass the unit test, they also brought that knowledge to other
classes with them. It doesn t matter if the lessons from people in the past are entertaining or boring.
One never knows when they will need knowledge from someone in the past.
2. One of the strongest forces in human life is the power of self deception (Morris 13).
How can we trust others if we can t even trust ourselves? When a person wants to know what they
want to move toward as a goal, they have to look inside. To gain a clear picture of appropriate goals, a
person mustn t lie to themselves. Self deception is an illusion that is hard to look past. The
possibilities are endless for the situations in which illusions take place. An example of such an illusion
is a family with financial issues that is blind to the fact that they need to stop spending so much. How
do we break the illusion of

Not A Sidewalk By Edward Bloor
Stop letting people walk all over you. You re not a sidewalk. This is a quote that applies to the life of
Paul Fisher. Paul Fisher is a 13 year old character played in the novel, Tangerine by Edward Bloor.
Paul, who moved from Texas to Tangerine County located in Florida was disabled. His disability of
being legally blind has been the shadow of his life. Paul has an older brother named Erik Fisher, a
mother named Mrs. Fisher, and a father Mr. Fisher. Erik is the star kicker for Tangerine High School.
All of Paul s life, Erik had been the fearful, scary older brother to Paul. In Edward Bloor s novel

for Erik change throughout the novel? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fisher paid attention to Erik, even though he had done such a terrible thing to Paul. Overall, Paul s
parents have been telling him a lie his whole life and this made him hate himself. The lie was that he
is legally blind because he stared at a Solar Eclipse, but the reason he is legally blind is because Erik
and Vincent s spray painted his eyes. This is emotional for Paul because his whole life he has been led
to believe otherwise, but now he hates how his mom, stood up for Erik.
Afterward, Paul reveals to the police that Erik and Arthur were involved in the death of Luis Cruz. On
page 211 of Tangerine it states, Arthur reached Luis, turned, and whipped the blackjack around with a
loud whack against the side of Luis s head. Paul s close friend Luis was smacked across the head with
a blackjack by Erik and this caused Luis to have an aneurysm. Luis was smacked on the head because
Erik had hit Tino, Luis brother in the face with a blackjack, so Luis got involved, and confronted Erik
and Arthur. Paul is devastated because the aneurysm sadly caused Luis death. Luis was very helpful to
Paul and seeing him dead made Paul despondent. Also pages 244 245 states, Luis Cruz is dead...I
raised my hand and got Ms. Polland s attention. I said, I gotta go. I m sick again. Luis death made Paul
sick to his stomach because first, they were close friends because he was kind of like an older brother
to Paul. Also, Paul knows that Arthur and Erik are involved in the

Significant Economic Changes In The United States
In the past 10 years, there have been numerous economic changes in the united states. Between
inflation, unemployment, the GDP and changes in government leadership, how money is spent and
saved regularly changed throughout the decade. These economic habits can be different based on age,
race, gender, location, education levels, and spending habits reflect each of these variables. Today i
will explore these variables, how things have recently changed based on then, and how i believe things
will change in the near future.
There isn t a pattern in the last 10 years for inflation changing. Inflation currently for October is 2.0, in
October of last year it was 1.6 so it raised quite a bit in the last year. But in October 2007 inflation was

The labor force participation rate ages 16 years and over in January 2010 was at 64.8 and in January
2017 it was at 62.9 so it dropped a little since 2010. I think that it s just going to get lower and lower
in the future because that s the progress it has been in the last 10 years.
GDP now is in the US is 3.3%, GDP has lowered in the last 10 years. In 2007 the GDP in the US was
4.40%. There isn t a pattern for how much it changed in 10 years it kind of went up and down since
2007. In the future I think that GDP will raise more and more.
I am going to tell you how Hawaii is doing economically. Hawaii s inflation rate has doubled to 2% in
2016. For unemployment in Hawaii, its relatively low. Since the recession in 2009 Hawaii has been 2
to 3% lower than the national rate. In 2011 70% men 16 years or older were in the labor force and
60% of women 16 years or older were in the labor force. The GDP in hawaii in 2016 was $84.7 billion
and ranked 38th in the united states. In 2006 the GDP in Hawaii was $62.1 billion and still was ranked
38th in the united states. I think that the GDP in Hawaii is going to get higher because it has gotten
higher in the last ten years and It should continue to get higher. Hawaii also has the highest rate of
poverty in the

level (FBI). As a result, law enforcement agencies used a few methods on stopping the spread of the

Common Sense by Thomas Paine
Common Sense was written by Thomas Paine and published in 1776. Paine wrote it as a plea for the
American people to break away from Britain and to declare independence from the king. He was
asking his audience to take a step back and see that just because something is tradition, does not mean
it is necessarily right. Paine wanted to show his readers that government and society is not the same
thing, which is how most people viewed it. Society was something that people should want to have,
while a government is something that people had to have in order to keep themselves in check. That
by paying the various taxes, the people were inadvertently paying to live in such bad conditions.
America should break away from and form a democratic party, one that allowed the people to decide
what rules they should have. Britain was too far away to be able to rule the colonies correctly. That in
being so far away it would take forever for Parliament to respond to any complaints that America
might have. Britain was not a favorite with other countries and therefore the colonies were at a greater
risk of war because of it. He spoke to his readers in a way so that even the simplest of people would
understand how desperately America needed to establish its independence. Some people thought that
the dispute between America and Britain should be resolved, Paine wanted to show the people that
even if the two came to a satisfactory agreement, that it would not last. The history

Similarities and Differences between the American...
Introduction American society is characterized by its upward mobility. Anyone, particularly those with
a talent in high demand, can achieve prosperity through hard ward and determination. Both American
Idol and X Factor showcase this phenomenon within the confines of their shows. Consumers,
particularly those geared towards drama, love to see this upward mobility concept in action. Both
shows do a great job articulating this concept in a manner that is engaging and though provoking.
However, American Idol and X Factor have distinct differences that make them unique in their
application of this concept. Through this document I aim to juxtapose the different shows in regards to
their similarities and differences. Similarity: Aspirational Component American Idol and X Factor
both have a more aspiration component to their shows. The show garners much of its appeal from the
hopes and dreams of others. Many Americans, in a society predicated on material wealth, desire what
many of the contestant on the show have obtained. This includes an opportunity to showcase ones
talents while being recognized for superior performance. Many Americans desire recognition while
admonishing rejection. America Idol is a show that relies on is Rags to riches appeal. It is show that
draws vast audiences due primarily to its ability to attract local talent that has yet to be recognized. It
allows individuals to live their dreams, even if doing so is highly unlikely. This concept is much like

The Supernatural Elements In GuigemarAndYonec By Marie...
Marie de France, supposed author of the series of Lais, recounts her stories through short texts, which
are centered on women and their place in the 12th century. There are several supernatural elements
throughout her work, which are mainly and explicitly present in Guigemar and Yonec . This can be
defined as events or things that cannot be explained by nature or science and that are assumed to come
from beyond or to originate from otherworldly forces. It is not however the only narrative device she
has used in her written pieces. It is with the combination of the supernatural with the self propelled
ship or the transformation of the hawk into a knight, and the natural, the symoblisation of the stick and
the rossignol, that Marie de France explores human relations between her characters.
The supernatural in Guigemar is evident right from the start when Guigemar s fate is determined by
his encounter with the talking doe. As all knights from the time, the young man was due for an
adventure in which metaphorically refers to his need to mature, which meant in this case finding love.
As he is confronted to the talking doe, a natural being with supernatural characteristics, he is cursed
and confronted with the dilemma to find love, or to be forced into finding death, De si ke cele te
guarisse Ki suffera pur te amur . His first reaction: De ceo k il ot est esmaiez , proves to the readers
that love is to him a foreign concept. Commencat sei a purpenser En quell tere

Most activities that are executive in the supply chain are beneficial from lean thinking, for instance,
picking, packing and loading and unloading activities in cooperation.
Lean suggests the need for the supply chain to exploit the limited resources for an efficient completion
of the job. Inventory, trucks warehouses, laborers and the capital for working are the primary sources
in the supply chain (Myerson, 2012). The lean supply chain is designed to include inventories in the
framework, warehousing space that is minimal to keep these inventories. It will also design to the
establishment of long term, supply contracts that are stable with a negotiated cost that is low, typically
without any substantial ability to alter ordered quantities.it will also design the destination of delivery
and design the date required after there is an order placed. All these factors will minimize the supply
chain cost operations making it efficient in cost and will constrain the ability of supply chain for the
adaptation of any demand and supply changes. The supply chains should manage variability and an
exclusive aim on lean that prevents supply chains to design an effective to manage the natural
variability and then from doing the work that are important to them. At many cooperations, they have
several products to manage where these products vary widely in demand and lead time patterns, the
supply chain enterprise should be designed to work on

My Last Soccer Game
Passes were flying, brisk and beautifully, to their intended targets. The kicks, arched with perfection,
barely kissed the ground before their departure was rocketed off in direction of the stark white goal
posts. As I gazed around the field, I gathered this sense of calm from my team mates. The scoreboard
counted down towards start of the game as the breeze whispered to me a silent farewell. But the
breeze wasn t my concern at this point; we were about to play Richland center and I had a good

Richland center raced towards our goal at lightning pace down the left sideline. This is when instinct
kicked in, and I assumed center stage along with the streaking orange RC player.
The world in my eyes had changed. Nothing mattered more to me at this moment then shutting down
that player. I had done this over a hundred times. I was on them in a flash, but that split second was all
it took. I felt a pop. The ball was out of bounds and I was on the ground. But why was I on the
ground? This had never happened before. The Richland center player capitalized on my lapse in
concentration and restarted the play before I could think any longer on the matter. And that s when I
knew something was wrong. Everything sort of stopped; all noise became absolutely pin drop silent. I
couldn t even feel the sting of the cold breeze. The only thing that mattered was stopping them from
scoring. We had worked to hard for me to give up. I kicked the ball out of bounds once again. The
world was sort of coming back at this point. And all I could hear was people yelling at me to sit down.
Why would I want to sit down? They were going to score; I couldn t let them do that. The team
shouldn t be asking me to do anything of the sort. That s when I noticed I was limping. Why was I
limping? I only fell for a few seconds. But there was that question again, Why did I fall? I didn t have

  • 2. How Did The Olympic Games Influence Ancient Greece The date 776 BC was the first documented Olympic Games in Ancient Greece. According to Greek mythology Pelops founded it in Olympia, the Games take place every four years at the same location, the sanctuary of Zeus at Olympia, to honor Zeus. They honored Zeus at the Games because he was the king of the Gods, and they thought that if they honored the king of the Gods that they would be honoring all of the Gods. The Olympic Games was good for the people of Ancient Greece, it attracted the rich and poor, brought Greece together, and was all in the name of the King of their Gods, Zeus. The Olympic Games were held every four years at the same place, the Sanctuary of Zeus at Olympia, to honor Zeus. Most Greeks believed in the same group of Gods, though they did acknowledge that Zeus was the king of the Gods. That is why they worshiped him at the Games, by worshiping him at his holy city, they were honoring all of the Gods together. The competitors in the Games were either professional athletes or Aristocrats. There were no amateurs or women participating in the games. The spirit and the actual Games itself was good for the people. Most saw it good for the public s spirit and a positive release of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. How Hitler Lost the War Essay As an influential, forceful person, Adolf Hitler used his articulate speech to empower the Nazi political party. Hitler received complete power as the Chancellor of Germany, after passing the Enabling Act. He utilized the totalitarian power to create the Third Reich, and through military moves and a propaganda movement headed by Joseph Goebbels, he made a great impact on the Germany s citizens. Hitler influenced the Germans into sharing a deep sentiment of nationalism, and the significance of the Aryan, or master, race. With this widespread attitude and the mobilization of the German military, Hitler spearheaded the second world war. Despite the positive contributors to the German force, Hitler s many mistakes hindered the armies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This surprise approach startled the Allies, mostly since the thought of massive tanks traveling through the Ardennes Forest was incredible. This German movement pushed the Allies to Dunkirk, a location on the English Channel. Hitler then commanded the German forces to turn around, deciding that the Luftwaffe were more suitable to finish the job and win the battle. The Luftwaffe had minimal success after a dense fog obstructing the vision of the Luftwaffe and making it possible for the British to escape to safety. This mistake was prodigious Hitler s decision prevented the Germans from wiping out the British army. If this had occurred, Germany would have had a great opportunity to invade Britain amphibiously. However, Hitler did not take advantage of the opportunity, and missed out. Hitler s Rape of the Ukraine was his most critical of blunders. From the perspective of the Slavs, the Germans seemed to be liberators, come to save the people from the cruel jurisdiction of Stalin. If Hitler had used this to his advantage, he could have had more manpower in his attack of Moscow. Instead, he looked at the Slavs as mongrels, an inferior race. The Ukraines also had more experience dealing with the Russian winter and terrain. However Hitler was unable to look past his prejudice, and shipped the Slavs off to concentration camps to be exterminated. Hitler took their food and treated them uncivilly. Had he done right by these people, he would have gained ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Microsoft Azure And Google App Engine Essay Data location and data segregation are of importance in the cloud, given the disparate physical location of shared computing resources. It is a possibility that cloud users be under statutory, regulatory or contractual obligations to ensure that data is held and managed in a certain way. To understand where the data is stored in the cloud, a person must what type of cloud deployment models there are in use. There are four different cloud deployment models that are used in the cloud computing environment. The four models are private cloud, public cloud, hybrid cloud and community cloud. A private cloud can be owned or leased and managed by the organization or a third party and exist at on premises or off premises. A public cloud is an infrastructure is provided to many customers is managed by a third party and exist beyond the company firewall, examples would be Microsoft Azure and Google App Engine. A hybrid cloud is a composition of two or more cloud deployment models, which links data in such a way that the data transfer takes place between them without affecting each other. An example of a hybrid cloud would be Amazon Web Services (ABS). The community cloud is a model that is shared by several organizations for a shared cause and may be managed by them or a third party service provider and rarely offered cloud model. The cloud environment operating according to this model may exist locally or remotely. An example of a Community Cloud includes Facebook. Most customers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Finland has supported Nepal s forestry initiatives since the 80s, and it includes large scale preparation, plantation and implementation of Forestry Sector Master Plan (1988 2011), support to Community Forestry and Leasehold Forestry Programs, Scientific Forest Management initiatives, National Forest Resource Inventories and others. Physiologically, the country is divided into five regions, according to altitude (the Terai, the Siwalik, the Middle Mountains, the High Mountains and the High Himal). Of the total land area, forests cover 4.27 million ha (29.0 percent) and shrub covers 1.56 million ha (10.6 percent) (DFRS 1999). The annual rate of forest depletion in the Terai was 1.3 percent from 1978/79 to 1990/91. In the hilly area, forest areas have declined at an annual rate of 2.3 percent from 1978/79 to 1994. In the entire country, from 1978 79 to 1994, the forest area has decreased at an annual rate of 1.7%. This trend indicates the ongoing pressure on forest resources, especially in the Terai. Syrian Civil War Is The Worst Humanitarian Crisis Of Our Time Syria s Civil War is by far the worst humanitarian crisis of our time ( Quick Facts: What You Need to Know about the Syria Crisis ). What started as anti government protests escalated into a full scale civil war. Half the country s population more than 11 million people have been killed or forced to flee their homes as a result of the Syrian Civil War(Asare, Patrick, Gritten, Offer, Rodgers). As forces loyal to Dictator Bashar al Assad, those opposed to his rule, and jihadist militants from ISIS clash, the innocent civilians impacted by the war are scrambling to find sanctuary. The recent crisis around the influx of the Syrian refugees escaping the Syrian Civil War impacts all countries, particularly the USA. The United States Congress has passed a bill that, as of January 2016, will permit 10,000 Syrian refugees into the United States. Syria is extremely diverse in ethnic makeup, but relatively homogeneous in regards to socioeconomic status, majority of Syrians lacking equal access to economic opportunity. In fact, the Syrian Civil War has caused several issues that have ruined prospective financial developments. As a result, the Syrian pound has depreciated to the lowest it has ever been (Butter). • 7. The Issue Of Legalizing Marijuana Does it really come to morality after all? The decision to legalize marijuana has been subject for debate since first introduced in 1969; many arguing the fact that we are sitting on an industry worth an estimated 113 billion dollars. For once we have an opportunity to make a real impact in our economy. We have an aid on the war on drugs . But are we then showing our children that legalizing drugs is really the answer to our problems or does only the big picture mater in the end? Will this bring for a stronger, richer nation or will this bring us down to our knees. Colorado Amendment 64 was passed on November 6, 2012. Section 16 legalized the personal use and regulation of marijuana for adults 21 and over as well as commercial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This brings us to the beginning of the debate over this issue. In truth, everything has those who favor and those who oppose. In 1969 Gallup first questioned Americans and found that only 12% favored legalizing marijuana use. Today that number has risen to 53%. A National Survey on Drug and Health says that it is the most commonly used illicit drug in the United Stated. The government survey showed that 18.9 million Americans 12 years or older had used marijuana in the past month. So what does this information tell us? That legal or not millions of Americans have and still use marijuana here in the U.S. This has been said a lot by an advocate in favor of the legalization of marijuana, his name is Tom Tancredo. Tom Tancredo is the one who said, Marijuana prohibition has failed us. It s crippled our nation over the matter when we have the power to change what is. This former Republican Congressman wrote a column for the Gazette saying, that despite his conservative beliefs he is in fact supporting Amendment 64 calling marijuana prohibition to be wasteful and ineffective program. Nothing proved to be truer as the production and sale brought millions of profit annually to the illegal cultivation and sale of marijuana. Not to mention the tens of billions we spend trying to prohibit the consumption of something less harmful the alcohol. In Colorado marijuana users are helping out public schools. The people who ... Many are remembered for the greatest or probably worse things they ve done. Also change has taken a major role in our world today. Two great examples that contributed in the global change would be Marco polo and Elizabeth Woodville. Marco polo was best known for being a traveler though he didn t like to be referred as one. Polo considered himself a wayfarer. At the young age of 17, polo went to his first journey to Cathay, modern day china. There the wayfarer met the Chinese emperor Kublai khan. Marco stayed for 17 years learning the Chinese culture. Later Marco became Khan s second hand. Together they created a duo. Khan send him to missions whom which Polo completely excelled them. Marco polo is also known for his former book, the travels of Marco polo , which he wrote during his capture in the Genoese prison. • 10. Criticism of Religious Hypocrites in Moliere s Tartuffe... Criticism of Religious Hypocrites in Tartuffe Moliere rocked the 17th century French world with his comedy Tartuffe in 1664. Although, religious factions kept the play banned from theatres from 1664 1669, Tartuffe emerged from the controversy as one of the all time great comedies. Tartuffe is a convincing religious hypocrite. He is a parasite who is sucking Orgon, the rich trusting father, for all he is worth. Orgon does not realize that Tartuffe is a phony, and caters to his every whim. For instance, he reneges on his promise to let his daughter Mariane, marry Valere. Instead he demands that she wed Tartuffe, whom she despises. He also banishes his own son, Damis, from his house for speaking out against Tartuffe and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If one takes the trouble to examine my comedy in good faith, he will surely see that my intentions are innocent throughout, and tend in no way to make fun of what men revere; that I have presented the subject with all the precautions that its delicacy imposes; and that I have used all the art and skill that I could to distinguish clearly the character of the hypocrite from that of the truly devout man. (Meyer 1509) The play successfully conveys this message because Tartuffe is a first class villain. He is as manipulative as Lady Macbeth, as greedy as Prince John, as underhanded as Modred, and as clever as Darth Vader. Through his every word and deed it becomes more apparent that he is thoroughly bad. More specifically, he not only wants to marry Orgon s daughter, but wants to defile his wife as well. He is not satisfied with living off of Orgon s wealth but wants to possess it. At no time in the play does Tartuffe resemble a truly pious man. The play never mocks God, but only those who use his name to prey on unsuspecting fools. The part of the fool is played to the hilt by Orgon. Throughout the first three acts he is such a domineering idiot that he is not even worth pitying. He, along with his mother, play the part of the blind zealot. What he chooses to call Christian love leads him to punish his family and himself because he takes away their freedom of choice and integrity and his own property. • 11. Complexity Theory as Applied to Nursing Essay Complexity Theory as Applied to Nursing, 2005 Abstract Many conventional ideas about the world we live in have been shaken to their foundations by the emerging concepts of chaos and complexity. Insights are now being gained from the application of complexity theory into phenomena varying in scale from the natural sciences such as biology to the concept of caring in the nurse patient relationship. These new scientific ideas have significant implications for the theory and practice of nursing. This paper will cover four key concepts from complexity theory that will be introduced as relevance to nursing. These include: unpredictable dynamic systems; the whole is greater than the sum of its parts; fuzzy and permeable boundaries; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If nothing is done, body mass will decline at a steady and predictable rate due to a catabolic metabolism. However, dynamic systems can produce startling variability over short time scales due to their sensitivity to feedback. This variability can make the system appear chaotic and unpredictable, rather like the weather. However, computer analysis of such systems reveals that there is a deeper underlying order within the apparent chaos. There are rules governing the behavior of the system over a short range in space and time, therefore it is referred to as deterministic or predictable chaos. The challenge is to discover the rules and determine how they operate so that we might gain insight into the apparently chaotic behavior before us. Deterministic chaos should be distinguished from unpredictable chaos which refers to random fluctuation or background noise, often distractingly superimposed upon the bigger picture. This is often the case over long ranges and periods of time and cannot be predicted. It is not possible in human experience (Stacey, Douglas, Shaw, 2002). An individual s health behavior is influenced by feedback from his or her actions. Small decisions made today can have major, unforeseen consequences tomorrow. A moment s reflection also reveals that the health care system and nursing has the characteristics of a dynamic system in that what happens today affects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. An Interview With Andrea Williams, Principal Of Elena... Using Strategic Planning This information was gathered in an interview with Andrea Williams, Principal of Theresa Bunker Elementary. In the past three years that Mrs. Williams has been principal of this school she has brought a strong focus onto using data to make appropriate instructional decisions as well as execute strategic planning to help the school progress. The implementation of the PLC process has helped the teachers to gain an understanding of how valuable data collection and analysis can be for their teaching practice. Looking at data also helps the school attain the yearly goals laid out by the district s strategic plan. One of the first steps taken in developing a strategic plan for the school is to gather and analyze data in order to find the school s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities for growth as well as any threats to the progress of the school. Early in the year the strategic planning team will review quantitative data collected from student achievement scores, attendance rates, discipline trends, financial records, transportation reports, and so forth. Depending upon the specific issue addressed in the planning process, these types of quantitative data serve to inform decision making processes. The collection of qualitative data is also an integral part of best practices in development of a strategic plan. Qualitative data collection includes use of surveys, focus groups, and interviews with key stakeholder groups. It is important and useful to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

All of these individual elements are closely linked and influence each other. But where these is light there is also shadow. Biometrics And The Black Market For Recognition Purposes Just imagine walking into a GAP clothing store as a device measures a person s eyes for recognition and then proceeds to deliver custom content on items previously purchased. In the futuristic sci fi thriller Minority Report a scene, exactly as described, unfolds. The story was set in Washington D.C. in the year 2054. While the film was filled with hero s, hacker s, and drama, a city wide optical recognition system was used to identify its citizens. Minority Report gave an interesting perspective on how biometrics might work in the future for recognition purposes. It also sparks the imagination on what other forms of biometrics could be used to identify individuals. Is a journey to the black market for a dicey eye transplant in our future? Biometrics is a term that refers to the broad amassment of various human characteristics. In computer science, biometrics authentication is used for access and a form of identification. Biometrics can also be used to survey and identify individuals in groups. Statistically, biometrics are unique and measurable to only one individual. When biometrics are used in authentication they can be broken down into two groups of measurability, physiological characteristics and behavioral characteristics. • 15. Cloud Computing System For Computing Cloud Computing Introduction Cloud computing system, which functions based on the concept of providing computing as a utility, can be defined as the method of providing resources for computing on demand, using remotely operational servers on the internet for data storage, processing data and managing data. Its equivalent to using a computer for its services, only without having to carry the hardware for it. Cloud applications, being dynamically scalable, agile and capable of running virtual applications and even an OS on a browser help in reducing costs of resource acquisition. A cloud computing model has the following basic features: Without involving any human interaction, the users can access any contracted service/ resource, be it data processing, memory space or application programs as a service from the provider. These contracted services/ resources can be availed by any user anywhere, anytime via the internet. These computing resources are distributed in various data centres across the globe which is shared by users from any part of the world. It goes by pay what you use for policy. The user pays only for the resources they use. Also, a big advantage is that from a user s perspective, all the resources are unlimited, and flexible for access. Good QoS (Quality of Service) is guaranteed by the provider. The cloud services are elastic. So the user can ask for more services/ resources whenever they require, also terminate, when not required. Accusations of police brutality could now be supported with video evidence instead of just a victim s word against an officer. While filming police during stops and quality of life policing can hold the officer accountable in incidents of police brutality, cell phone video footage doesn t always tell the whole story. In August, two Kansas police officers came under scrutiny after a 36 second video was posted on social media of them roughly restraining a suspect on the ground (Hunter). However, the police s body cam and dash cam footage told a different story: after the suspect, John Harrison was pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt, the police discovered the smell of marijuana coming from his car, that he was driving with a suspended license and had more than 20 warrants out for his arrest (Kiesling and Smith). The dash cam video shows Harrison resisting arrest, attempting to flee (Hunter) and punching one of the police officers (Kiesling and Smith). The police were found innocent and Harrison was put in jail for outstanding warrants and is facing charges for driving with a suspended license, battery on a police officer, and obstruction of justice (Hunter). • 20. Rivers And Streams Receiving Urban Runoff Essay Introduction Rivers and streams receiving urban runoff have been shown to be toxic to aquatic species (e.g. H. azteca), due to the presence of pyrethroids (Budd et al., 2007; Weston and Lydy, 2010; Weston et al, 2014). These pyrethroids are greatly toxic, with acute species mortality possible at even small concentrations of one part per trillion (Weston and Jackson, 2009), yet urban runoff regularly contains concentrations greater than 20 parts per trillion (Weston and Lydy, 2012). A significant part of the runoff from urban areas encompassing Sacramento, California flows to the American River. Thus, the toxic level of the rivers and tributaries of the American River and its sensitivity to aquatic species has been studied through modeling efforts (Jorgenson et al, 2013). Urban runoff, which contains a considerable amount of bifenthrin, a subset of pyrethroids, makes up a large portion of the river flow after a storm event. Due to increased use of bifenthrin in Sacramento County, bifenthrin concentration can be as high as 0.018 ppb, which is more than 5 times the 96 h middle effective concentration (EC50) for loss of motion to most aquatic species (Weston et al., 2009; Holmes et al., 2008; Hintzen et al., 2009; Weston and Lydy, 2010). • 27. Common Sense by Thomas Paine Common Sense was written by Thomas Paine and published in 1776. Paine wrote it as a plea for the American people to break away from Britain and to declare independence from the king. He was asking his audience to take a step back and see that just because something is tradition, does not mean it is necessarily right. Paine wanted to show his readers that government and society is not the same thing, which is how most people viewed it. Society was something that people should want to have, while a government is something that people had to have in order to keep themselves in check. That by paying the various taxes, the people were inadvertently paying to live in such bad conditions. America should break away from and form a democratic party, one that allowed the people to decide what rules they should have. Britain was too far away to be able to rule the colonies correctly. That in being so far away it would take forever for Parliament to respond to any complaints that America might have. Britain was not a favorite with other countries and therefore the colonies were at a greater risk of war because of it. He spoke to his readers in a way so that even the simplest of people would understand how desperately America needed to establish its independence. Some people thought that the dispute between America and Britain should be resolved, Paine wanted to show the people that even if the two came to a satisfactory agreement, that it would not last.
