Pancoast Tumor Case Studies
A Pancoast tumor is a carcinoma in the apex of the lung that involves the brachial plexus, subclavian,
sympathetic chain, upper ribs, or vertebral body.1 Involvement of these structures causes pain or
tingling in the arm, and possible paralysis. A Pancoast tumor is most commonly a non small cell lung
carcinoma. 2 In the case where the tumor involves the sympathetic pathway leading to the eye, the
patient can present with constriction of the pupil (miosis), drooping of the eyelid (ptosis), and
diminished sweating (anhydrosis).3 These symptoms will present on the ipsilateral side of the face as
the tumor. Interestingly, although Horner s syndrome suggests there is more invasion, there is no
correlation to prognosis.4 In treatment of a Pancoast

Alexander The Great s Influence On The World
Alexander the Great Occasionally history shows that the world does not have many people that could
be entered in the history. And Alexander the Great was one of these people. During his childhood
Alexander had great teachers who taught him how to use and how to choose great politics, diplomacy
and, how to win the war if that day would come. For many years Alexander the Great studied how to
control everything and how to be ready to do anything that might be needed. At the age of sixteen he
had to become a king of big kingdom, because his father, Philip, was in the war with Byzantium.
Many people believed in Alexander because they knew that he was different from other children in his
age, he did not care about bodily pleasures or anything like that, however, he had infinitely ambition
which created him a good leader. Alexander strengthened his position in the power, he tamed people
that were trying to make a revolution to take power in their hands. To get support from wealthy and
other people in Alexander s kingdom, he canceled taxes, and killed other people that might claim for
the king s position. Alexander was a great leader, and had plans to enter the war not only with some
kingdoms, but to capture and control all kingdoms and all lands, to have the great power without a
trace. Alexander the Great ruled his kingdom as a king that had tunneled his skills and had a good deal
of experience in the past. He was thankful that his father, Philip, gave him the best teachers

Forms of Government Essay
Many different forms of government have existed throughout civilization. Theocracy, dictatorships,
democracy, and many others have all had periods of time where they reigned as the government of
choice. Arguments could be made in favor of each form of government. The key to finding the most
viable form of government is to consider this: which form of government provides the most stability
for the state? The stability of the state is based upon the foundation of the government. Shaky
foundations lead to short lived or miserable nations. Governments based upon religion, birthrights, or
one man generally do not have solid foundations. The greatest foundation a government can have is
the support of its citizens. Governments which cater to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two dominant forms of government are democracy and authoritarianism. The two socio economic
policies are capitalism and communism. Democracy is a form of government which dominates the
western world. In democracy, every person is given equal input into matters of the state, although this
does happen to varying degrees. There exist many different types of democracy. Absolute or direct
democracy occurs when each citizen personally participates in all decision making processes. This
system is difficult to maintain due to the vast number of people and the necessity for all people to be
informed, logical, and educated when making many decisions. This form of democracy has not existed
in significant sized populations. Representative democracy is a type of government in which the
people elect government officials to make decisions concerning the state. The two most prevalent
types of representative democracy are democratic republics and parliamentary democracies. In a
democratic republic, such as the United States or Canada, the people elect both their representatives in
government and their head of state. In a parliamentary democracy, such as the United Kingdom or
Australia, the people elect their representatives and their representatives elect their head of state.
Authoritarianism is a form of government in which the leader or leaders have exclusive power
concerning matters of the state. Although these

Summary Of Carolyn Kizer s Bitch
Arguably, poetry could be considered one of the biggest mediums artists use to express themselves to
an audience. Everyday, radio stations play hundreds of poems to listeners who feel direct connections
to what they hear. A great poet can write a piece, while never having met it s reader, that poem will
leave the reader feeling as if it were written for them. Pulitzer Prize Winner Carolyn Kizer, wrote
poems that connected with millions of women during the 1960 s, 70 s and 80 s. During a time, when
women were not to be taken seriously, she was considered one of the first feminists and spread her
messages to readers from all walks of life. One piece Kizer wrote late in her career entitled, Bitch ,
describes a person s feelings towards an ex lover as they run into each other years later. If Kizer was
attempting to give readers a deeper understanding on the inner struggles that a female faces during her
interpersonal relationship with a former partner, then I think she has succeeded. The poems point of
view has readers following the inner thoughts of a woman as well as her ... Show more content on

lines are spot on because when one runs into an ex years later internal instinct will have them relive
moments in the past and why it didn t work or what left them hurt. Yet, at the same time said person

Hmo Influence On Health Care
Running head: INFLUENCE OF HMO S
HMO s
University of Phoenix
Abstract
The term Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) was developed in 1970 as part of the Nixon
Administration to promote the growth of prepaid plans as a way to improve the nation s health system.
The Health Maintenance Organization has an appearance on the outside of being very appealing to
those with little money to spend on insurance because it has a very low premium cost, but the truth be
known that sometimes cheaper is not always better. In this paper I will discuss how HMO s have
influenced current healthcare systems.
Influence of HMO s
HMO stands for Health Maintenance Organization and was designed by Congress to eliminate
individual health insurance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a great thing and to be honest the fees were only 25 more dollars than what I am paying for a
HMO now. I became ill and was rushed to one of the best hospitals in the U.S. Tests were run and
because I had a PPO there were no questions as to who my primary care doctor was. There were no
questions as to what my insurance would pay for on the expensive tests. Now back home in the North
I currently have an HMO which as I stated is only a few dollars cheaper than my PPO. I recently
broke my back and was rushed to the local hospital because of the emergency situation. While in the
E.R. the doctors had to notify my primary doctor and get permission from the insurance company to
run tests and for me to even be allowed to stay in that hospitals E.R. My primary care doctor was over
an hour away in another state. I was cleared to go to another bigger hospital for emergency surgery but
it took a lot of time to get the clearance. I currently am suffering through bills because through an
HMO it is a courtesy for any hospital to call any insurance. If I still had PPO I would not have been
questioned as to cost and the hospital would have been paid because I could through a PPO go to any
hospital without permission. In summary, the time has come for Congress to make decisions regarding
appropriate health care and to understand that at times cheaper is not always better.

Pro Minimum Wage
People all across America believe that minimum wage is a good thing and helps people without an
education have a normal life, however others believe it is causing poverty and homelessness among
the citizens. Minimum wage was made to provide enough money to live just above the national
poverty line. But over the years the cost of living has increased while the minimum wage hasn t.
Today, the national minimum wage is $7.25, which is less powerful than the minimum wage was in
1968. This is because the minimum wage was $1.60 per hour, which seems low but back then $1.60
was enough to support a three person family, whereas today the minimum wage can barely support
one person. All throughout the U.S., workers have been fighting for a higher minimum ... Show more

Early Nuclear Physics Essay
1 Introduction
1.1 A Brief History of Early Nuclear Physics
In the early 1900s it was seen that a small number of alpha particles were deflected by a large angle,
the current model at the time predicted only small deflections of the particles. These results were
explained by introducing a tiny positively charged nucleus into our picture of the atom. Although beta
decay had been observed as early as 1896 and was known to contain electrons, it wasn t until 1914
that they would break the law of energy conservation if just composed of electrons. To account for the
discrepancy in energy during beta decay, Wolfgang Pauli suggested that a very light, neutral charged
particle was also released during beta decay, this particle was named the ... Show more content on

There are numerous models that have been used to describe nuclear structure and the physical
properties that arise. A mathematical model can be scrutinised in a large number of ways, does the
model agree with existing data, can the model be used to make physical predictions, what assumptions
are made etc.. Currently a large factor used in deciding whether to use a model, is the dif ficulty in
solving this mathematical model to produce physical values. A much more complicated model may
give the most accurate results, but the difficulty in obtaining any result e.g. the computational time
required, is not worth the gain in accuracy. A trade off must be made in deciding on the physical
model to be used in the situation. In this article a number of different models will be discussed, the
formulation and the uses of these models will be studied, as well as there uses in physics. Due to the
vast number of areas that nuclear physics is used, such as in cancer treatments, material processing
etc. improvements in our nuclear models are very important and not just studied for scientific
curiosity. [3]

Comparison Of Twenty Pink Questions And Rabbit-Proof Fence
The two Australian texts, a short story published in 2006 titled Twenty Pink Questions by Fabienne
Bayet Charlton and the 2002 film Rabbit Proof Fence directed by Philip Noyce, both explore the idea
of the injustice of forced child abduction. Twenty Pink Questions, details an insightful conversation
between an Aboriginal mother and her child who repeatedly ask questions about the history of the
Stolen Generation in order to understand her personal story. In comparison, Rabbit proof fence depicts
the lives of three Aboriginal girls who were removed from their families and placed in the Moore
River Native Settlement in 1931, whilst exploring the unjust policy enforced by the Australian
government during that time period that led to the mistreatment of Aboriginal people. Contrastingly,

Contingency Theory
INTRODUCTION:
According to Public Administration in Canada, (pg 70) contingency theory is one of the most recent
theories in organizational structure, it argues that there is no one best way of structuring an
organization. Instead contingency theory suggests that the best way to structure a particular
organization is contingent(dependent) on a number of factors such as the attitudes of the managers and
employees, the nature of the task performed by the organization and the nature of the environment.
The basic premise of Contingency Theory is that there is no one best way to organize a corporation, to
lead a company, or to make decisions. There are too many external and internal constraints that will
alter what really is the best way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The four important ideas of Contingency Theory are:
1. There is no universal or one best way to manage.
2. The design of an organization and its subsystems must fit with the environment.
3. Effective organizations not only have a proper fit with the environment but also between its
subsystems.
4. The needs of an organization are better satisfied when it is properly designed and the management
style is appropriate both to the tasks undertaken and the nature of the work group.
DISCUSSION:
There are too many external and internal constraints that will alter what really is the best way to lead
in a given situation and some examples of such constraints (factors) include: The size of the
organization, how the firm adapts itself to its environment, differences among resources and
operations activities, assumptions of managers about employees, strategies being used, technologies
being used, suppliers and distributors, consumer interest groups, customers and competitors,
government and unions among others which shall be discussed below.
According to the contingency theory, a Theory X manager would not structure an organization in the
same manner as a Theory Y manager. following McGregor, there is a tendency to look at the Theory X
manager as always being the bad

Lover
Within the five poems we have studied, La Belle Dame Sans Merci , Lady of Shalott , My last duchess
, Porphyria s lover and Marianna . Women are portrayed as weak characters with no voice. All of these
poems are seen through the eyes of men, who accuse them of being self centred and lacking in morals.
However, these judgements can be placed upon the men themselves. The social/historical position of
women during the nineteenth century can be identified within the poems. Browning s dramatic
monologues in particular show women s lack of voice and dependency on men during the eighteen
hundreds. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keats describes her, as a faerys child and later says in language strange she said I love thee true this
implies her mythical quality which mystifies and captures the knight .
The poem represents three characters the narrator, the knight and La belle dame. The story is told by
the knight, but begins with opening questions from the narrator, o what can ail thee knight at arms,
Alone and palely loitering? Keats portrays La belle dame in a negative light, as a character who
distrusts and mistreats the knight. Perhaps this expresses keats feelings towards women, however he
creates separate characters with different personalities. Although La belle dame is described as a
beautiful mythical creature she uses the knight and leaves him to die. In the last three stanzas of the
poem the knight describes the sight of dead men on the cold hill side who have also been enthralled by
the faery s child . Her kind words and beauty tricked the knight along with the other men. The title La
Belle Dame Sans Merci the beautiful women without mercy highlights this.
The knight in some ways can be seen as being portrayed negatively. Keats portrays men as being
superficial human beings who fall for the beauty of woman. The knight is fooled by the faery s child
exterior failing to see her deceitful character. Women are

Effects Of Ph On Enzyme Concentration
Effects of pH on Enzyme Concentration Abstract: In this lab report you will be testing the effects pH
has on the rate on enzyme reactions, you will be collecting data and evaluating things that went will
and ways it could be done better to help us further understand this lab.
Research Question: How does pH affect the amount of reactivate when reacted with Hydrogen
peroxide on an enzyme?
Hypothesis: The higher the pH the higher the reaction with Hydrogen Peroxide on the enzyme will
increase.
Background Information: An enzyme is a catalyst that speeds up chemical reactions, but it does so
with out change the chemical reaction its self. Ph is the concentration of hydrogen ions it ranges from
1 14 when the pH is at 7 it is considered neutral. Water has a pH of 7 which is neutral on the pH scale.
In this lab we will be experimenting to be how the different number of pH effect the rate the enzyme
reacts. Since water is neutral at 7 we have a hypothesis that its amount of form inside the test tube
should be higher or have more form then something that is more acidic, which means is pH is lower
than 7. The amount of enzyme and the amount of concentration substrate should be equal since it s an
equally balanced formula and you can not make more then what you put in that means if the substrate
concentration increases then the enzyme activity should also increase. We will be using hydrogen
peroxide which is a liquid with strong oxidizing properties to test are hypothesis. Because of

Analysis Of To Autumn, It Sifts From Leaden Sieves And...
Red and green and gold and orange dance across crisp autumn sky, moved along on the currents of a
steady breeze. Sunlight filters through leaves that still clinging to the towering Oak and Maple trees
along the dirt trail. Little feet pound the ground, compressing the leaves and sending up puffs of dirt,
as a rabbit hops along through the underbrush. He startles a flock of birds which take flight and voice
their anger at being disturbed with a chorus of shrill cawing. The little rabbit continues his journey
occasionally pausing to rummage around in the leaves, but finds nothing to his liking and proceeds
with his hopping. A sudden noise makes him freeze in place. Cautiously, he settles onto his hind legs
and his pink nose along with his ears twitch in search of a clue to what might have caused the
disturbance. Having decided that the danger has passed the rabbit hops up onto a log which spans a
babbling brook. He rests there a moment and allows for the coolness rising from the water to wash
over him. After crossing the stream he stops at the water s edge lapping at the water with his tiny
tongue. Once he has had his fill, he returns to his burrow nestled among a copse sapling maples, deep
within the forest. The seasons of Autumn and Winter are paid tribute in these three sonnets: To

the thermal radiation released near the hypocenter or ground zero of the explosion, death rates

Lucy Pevensie s Influence Tactics And Charisma
Influence Tactics and Charisma
Two other factors played a huge role in Lucy s leadership: the way she influenced others and the way
they perceived her as a person. The influence tactics she uses reflect her power type and the type of
relationship between her and those she is trying to influence. For most of the film, Lucy uses
inspirational appeals with her siblings to keep their spirits up and keep them focused on the tasks of
rescuing Edmund and saving Narnia. Inspirational appeals rely on emotional connection (Hughes,
Ginnett, Curphy, 2015, p. 69), which Lucy has established well in all of her relationships. Personal
appeals also have a large part in this, since this involves requesting a favor based upon relationship
quality (Hughes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Keeping the psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic characteristics in mind for my future classroom as
well as some classrooms I have been in working with and observing students. This paper will talk
about the best way I feel is to reach the linguistic needs of my students.
There were about twenty five ELL students in my classroom this past semester, however, I only
worked with six. All the ELL students in my class were Spanish speakers as their first language.
Although I didn t work with these students more than once a week, I gained a good enough sense of
my six students I will be keeping them in mind as I write this paper. There were five boys and one
girls. I addressed their language learning needs in a few ways. I typically worked with my student
during their English time during the day to help the develop their English. One way I addressed the
needs of my students by making flash cards for the vocabulary words that I would be teaching my
students each week. I also adjusted my speech when talking to the students for when the students were
not understanding me, using simpler words. Also at times when my students were not understanding
English, or felt like they were not able to write in English I let them speak in Spanish between each
other to help clarify what was happening and I would let the students write in Spanish, then tell me
what they were saying in English. All lesson I did with these student were in English only due to the

Argumentative Essay On Human Cloning
Human cloning is threatening our society. Yes it has benefits but with these benefits there s a risk. First
and foremost i disagree with cloning because, it hasn t developed yet and it can take a lot of tries
before getting a human being to this earth. On the other hand, animals have been cloned since the
beginning of this technology. They have a 70% chance of being born safely but that is not the same for
humans the percentage to clone a human is 20% to 40% which is not even past birth. There has been a
lot of failure on cloning but maybe one day it will be perfected. But over the years cloning has
increased at a more stable rate. This new cloning technology can really wrong because, you re
basically make a robot just in a human form factor. One good thing about cloning is that they can
clone certain organ cells and damaged tissue. But to do something like that it s 50,000 dollars which
only certain people can afford. That s why is not extremely common to hear someone say that they
have cloned a tissue or an organ. However cloning is not cheap it s expensive but is it worth it?
Favorably, it all depends on what you would like to clone and does it have a value to your day to day
life. Supposing that you want to clone your dog or cat the estimated price is from 25,000 thousand
dollars and it can reach higher pricing. People who have the money to do these sort of things must
have been with that pet for a long time and that pet means a lot to them. However when you re cloning
a pet yes they are going to have the same characteristics as the one who passed away. Although it won
t feel the same as having your original pet. In my opinion people are doing this because it s an outlet
for them to forget how their pet and pretend like it s still there with them. Part of these people don t
even think on what they are doing because they are so inlove with their animals. They should really
think about cloning pets and them make a decision. But if it means a lot to them then they should do it
at there own risk. Know in an article named What happened to cloning? They are stating that back in
the 2000 s they thought of banning cloning but politicians could not agree at what stage of

Pros And Cons Of The Canadian And American Banking System
Intro Throughout history the Canadian and American banking systems have always taken separate
approaches to the financial sector. There are many factors that influence the differences between the
banking systems, some of which including their banking regulations, customer base and the chosen
style of banking. All the factors presented have influenced the results of the banking sectors in both
countries. Both systems have pros and cons, however the argument presented will reflect and support
the benefits and success of the Canadian banking system and its ability to support the Canadian
economy throughout the country s history. Despite the close geographic coordinates, the two countries
have very little in common regarding their financial sectors. The American banking system flourishes
when the population has a high borrowing amount that unfortunately carries a larger risk for the
government. In comparison, the Canadian system is most prosperous when the population has a high
security level on their finances and the banks hold a substantial portion of liquid assets to assist with
any financial issues. Summary The differences between the American and Canadian banking systems
is not limited to their definition of success. Each countries system also contains several differences
within their banking sectors, and many of these differences have helped guide the individual countries
to where they stand in todays market. The American banks prides themselves on being resilient and

Characteristics In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
By Sigmund Freud s words, every human s psyche is made up of 3 components. Two of these such
components are the id and the ego. While the id is the instinctual part of the human psyche, the ego is
the more realistic and civilized part. At times, these traits overpower the other component, which is
seen in William Golding s novels. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, we see how the island plays
a role in expressing these traits by letting the id consume the ego. In the beginning, the kids are
civilized by making rational decisions, which represents the ego. When the plane crashed, we see the
kids group up and begin voting for leadership, which shows them following the societal norms, Let s
have a vote. Yes! Vote for chief! (Golding 22). The kids are following democratic values by giving the
children the power to vote for their official leaders. Following democratic values shows a bit of their
ego because they create systems to keep things organized and suppressing their animal instincts. The
society that the boys came from was orderly, something they re trying to imitate. That imitation shows
us how their ego is now motivating them to try and get rescued. Additionally, we see Ralph realizing
that there are no grownups and begins to organize a system, There aren t any grownups. We shall have
to look after ourselves... We ll have to have Hands up like at school (Golding 33). Ralph created a
functional system to avoid any chaos on the island. This is interesting because

achieve silence requires effort and the attention of the will, and maximum control of self

The Foundation And Provision Of Nursing
The foundation and provision of nursing care is guided by key values of nursing and definitions of
nursing. The American Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN] (2008) highlights five values that
represent the core of nursing practice. These values include altruism, autonomy, human dignity,
integrity, and social justice. This essay will focus on my top three values of altruism, human dignity,
and autonomy, how these values are currently represented in my life, and how these values led to my
own unique philosophy and definition of nursing. Altruism The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh
College of Nursing (n.d.) describes altruism as an unselfish concern for the welfare of others (Values

Human dignity goes along with my expression of altruism in my life. I express human dignity very
similar to the way I express altruism, but I express this value further in my work. One main way I
express this is through the provision of modesty and privacy in all ways possible while caring for
patients. It is as simple as using least exposing methods and being respectful and professional when
providing care. I also respect human dignity by giving my patients the power of choice and respecting
the wishes that they express. I believe this is important because the hospital environment leaves
people vulnerable to have their dignity ignored. Nursing researchers Papastavrou, Efstathiou, and
Andreou (2017) describe this problem by stating threats to health were considered more important
than those to dignity and the older people endured threats to dignity in favour of treating the health
problem (p. 94). With this in mind, I work particularly hard to find ways to uphold human dignity
always in my work and throughout my life. Autonomy Autonomy simply means the right to self
determination, but it is a key part of nursing care (University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of
Nursing, n.d., Values section, para 2). This is demonstrated through a study by Rao, Kumar, and
McHugh (2017) which found that hospitals with

Analyzing Erikson s Stages Of Psychosocial Development
Erik Erikson s identification of the several stages of psychosocial development is a brilliant theory. He
acknowledged the significance of the unconscious mind and early childhood, as well as, furthered his
studies and developed his own ideas. It provides a good base of knowledge for understanding what
conflicts individuals may be facing at their particular developmental levels. This involves developing
a sense of trust in others, a sense of identity in society, and assisting the next generation for the future.
The Erik Erikson s theory of psychosocial stages of development accuracy can perhaps be
demonstrated when reflected to one s life s span. I was surprised by the accuracy of the stages when
reflected to my own, especially my current stage which is Erikson s sixth stage (young adulthood, 20
to 39 years old) Intimacy vs Isolation. In this stage, the most important factor is intimate relationships.

Purpose Of Immortality In Ancient Egyptian Religion
Purpose of Immortality Out of all things, there is usually one aspect of life that may bring people
together and bring consistency to their lives religion. There are a wide variety of different religions,
yet many of them contain overlapping beliefs and concepts, including life after death, and it does not
matter whether or not these religions are monotheistic or polytheistic. As a result, people may have a
general notion of death, however, what many do not realize is that these religions support the idea of
immortality. Although there is a contradiction when religions tell people that death is inevitable yet

That being said, it is clear to see that Ancient Egyptians did believe in immortality, but to add to this,
the fact that one of the many death rites includes mummification, further extends the concept of
immortality because of the fact that the purpose of it is to preserve the bodies. On another note, The
Book of the Dead provided instructions and access to magical power to assist the deceased in his
passage to the afterlife and in his existence there (184). This is because of the fact that living well off
was a very important aspect of the Ancient Egyptian religion. They wanted their paradise and afterlife
to seem appealing because they do not want people to not enjoy themselves once they have died. It is

The Bibliography Of Heady Lamarr
Part 1: The Bibliography of Heady Lamarr
Hedy Lamarr was born Hedwig Maria Eva Kiesler in Vienna, Austria on November 9, 1914 to Emil
and Gertrud Kiesler. According to several sources Hedy was extremely spoiled by her father as he
doted on her constantly and encouraged her love of scientific exploration, conversely her mother
Gertrud was reportedly much sterner with Hedy. According to Hedy and her family, Hedy s goal was
always to be an actress so it was no surprise to her contemporaries when she dropped out of school to

This is how Hedy gained the knowledge necessary to work with George Antheil in the development of
the Secret Communication System . The biggest issue for Hedy while she was married to Friz was that
she was not allowed to work, she described her marriage to him as Being kept in the Gilded Cage and
she eventually had to escape the marriage and flee to Paris. This is where she eventually met up Louis
B Mayer, a talent scout in Europe, who helped her move to America, change her name to Hedy
Lamarr, and begin her Hollywood career.
Furthermore interesting is that after Hedy patented her invention, the Navy denied to use it; stating
that it just took up too much space onboard their already over packed ships. But Hedy had a will to
help with the war efforts, so she went on a campaign to sell war bonds through the influence of her
celebrity status. After which she continued her film career for a total of 33 movies [3], raised three
children one of which she adopted, and married and divorced five more times. Hedy eventually died
on January 19, 2000 in her home in Casselberry, FL, ironically enough she spent most of her last few
years in seclusion only communicating with her family via a cellphone, the very technology her
invention helped create.

Analysis Of The Book Lament For A Son
Stages of Grief
Introduction
The book, Lament For a Son, written by Nicholas Wolterstorff talks about his pain and grief after
losing his 25 year old son (Joy, 2009). His son died while on a mountain climbing expedition. Dr.
Wolterstorff has several books published during his career as a philosophical theology professor in
Yale Divinity. However, he wrote Lament for a Son with a different journal style since it is a personal
thing for him. The book is similar to a journal as he narrates the events that happened before and after
his son s death. The emotions expressed in the book are common among people who lose close
relatives. What matters is how a person handles the issue. Kubler Ross invented the five stages of
grief; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptancethat explain the escalation of grief when
stricken by bad news (Axelrod, 2004). The paper looks into the book and its relation to the five stages
of grief.
Question 1
As demonstrated by the five stages of grief, Dr. Wolterstorff suffers greatly emotionally as he deals
with his son s death. In a bid to settle his depression, he reads the Bible on similar experiences that
people had (Wolterstorff, 1987). He finds hope after reading and comprehending about Jesus Christ
life, death, and resurrection. The story gives him hope that one day his son, Eric, will resurrect one
day because God has the power to make such things possible. Dr. Wolterstorfffinally accepts the fact
that Eric died, but he will see him in

mystery of this fathomless play. Prospero speaks almost a third of the lines in The Tempest, and

I think that what Prospero is doing here has much to do with the process of the Othering as a method

considering the Others to be barbarous just because they cannot speak fluently the language of the

through language and stories, giving them no other means of education or perspective. Caliban, forced
to use the language of his oppressor, resorts to curses, and knows that the way to destroy Prospero is

Analysis Of The Poem Long Black Song By Richard Wright
W.E.B Du Bois makes points of having a double consciousness and being behind a veil. While Booker
T. Washington points out that there is a dignity to be found in fruits from labor. In the reading of Long

Although, creatively both Du Bois and Washington s points can be found hidden within the text; it is
clear within this short story that Wright leaned to agree more with Du Bois points than he did with
Washington s points. W.E.B. Du Bois presents two ideas within his text, the idea that African
Americans live behind a veil and the idea that they constantly struggle with a double consciousness.

useful, such as things you can get from working hard in a field and selling it to white men. This will
show them you are valuable and therefore they will respect you. The right to be respected by white
man has been earned and thus it will be given. Long Black Song starts out with hints towards Du Bois
idea of the veil with the lines, She saw green fields wrapped in the thickening gloam. It was as if they
had left the earth, those fields, and were floating slowly skyward. (Wright 65) The terms such as
thickening and floating give the image of being behind or on something. The idea that the fields are
being pulled into a veil. These lines give a bit of foreshadowing to the story when you read between
them leading us to whether Wright will side with Du Bois or Washington at the end of the story. Also

The Legend Of Frankie The Fairy
Frankie the Fairy was a very shy boy, but when he hears a cry for help, he responds in a very brave
and knight like attitude. One time, Frankie saved his fellow fairy friend, Futuristic, from being eaten
by Tarry the troll. So not only was he brave, but he was very heroic in this situation. Frankie lived in
the beautiful metropolis and utopia known as Fairy World. Don t let the name fool you because not
only fairies live here, but all magical creatures, from Pegasus to wizards etc. The world was great
while Willow the witch was ruler, but when Uggy the Unicorn took over, this amazing world went
downhill and headed for Communism. Uggy had a plan to kill all of the trolls and Cyclops even
though most of them were great, and extremely nice creatures. ... Show more content on

When they opened the door, they spotted the trolls and cyclops that Uggy had captured to kill. They
were all skinny as can be because of their poor treatment. Frankie then spotted his best friend, Terry.
Sleeping in the far corner of the jail cell type room. He woke him up and hugged him, because he
hadn t seen his friend in months, possibly even a year or so. Frankie called his friend Jeremy the
human to bring a bus and pick them all up at the main entrance of the castle, which he did. After an
hour drive, Jeremy had finally arrive with a bus that could fit up to three hundred creatures. Frankie,
Sammy, and Snickers walked the trolls and cyclops outside to the bus, and helped them on and sit
them. Frankie had achieved what he had been wishing for for the past eight months, kill Uggy and
help his fellow friends of Fairy World. For this, the Fairy government had made Frankie president and
Sammy and Snickers were awarded with free living supplies for the rest of their lives. From there on,
the world lived in peace and harmony, and no one was ever discriminated or judged because of their

Should The Nobel Peace Prize Be Abolished
The Nobel Peace Prize is an award Alfred Nobel made for people who try to make the world better.
Each year a person who tried to make it less polluted or tried to take away one of the many problems.
In 2007, Al Gore was given the prize. The most significant effect is climate change and global
warming of which the people have created.
This is true because as the months come and go, it is getting harder and harder to ignore the fact that
the world is in danger. In the last few months, it has been harder and harder to misinterpret the signs
that our world is spinning out of kilter (Nobel Speech p. 15) This is true because with more and more
pollution in the tiny shell of the atmosphere, it is getting harder to ignore that the Earth as many know
it is getting changed in a bad way. This links to the claim because the world spinning out of kilter is an
effect of climate change and global warming.
The claim is true because the human species are ignoring the problems at hand. We, the human
species, are confronting a planetary emergency a threat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No witchcraft, no enemy action had silenced the rebirth of new life in this stricken world. The people
had done it themselves. (Silent Spring p. 8) This is true because the only reason why people would say
that the pollution is worse, is because you can see how big it is, but climate change is something you
cannot see that still is a humongous challenge. This is false for many more reasons, but since you can
see it people would think it is a bigger problem, when really the climate change is.
Many would say that climate change is the biggest problem which is true, because people have been
ignoring the problem showing how it gets worse over time.In my point of view, if people car pulled,
and rode bikes, and drove in cars less the world would not have nearly as big of problems at

Analysis Of Blade Runner
Blade Runner: what makes a Human?
Blade Runner is a 1982 film directed by Ridley Scott. It is a loose adaptation of Do Androids Dream
of Electric Sheep? written by Philip K. Dick. It has spawned a loyal following of fans and is seen as a
cult classic by many people. The film has inspired a lot of popular culture in movies, anime and video
games (Hills, 2011). The films cult popularity is so great that it even received theatrical rereleases
with additional scenes in 1992 ( Director s Cut ), 2007 ( Final Cut ) and a sequel in 2017.
The academic side of the film industry has given plenty of attention to this film too. There are
hundreds of articles written about it. For instance, a few articles in the Alien Zone (Kuhn ed., 1990)
mentioned this famous film and base their arguments on it. And there are certainly reasons why. Blade
Runner touches upon a variety of interesting subject and exhibits rich metaphors and symbolism. The
most engaging subject of the film, for me at least, seems to be the question of how human are
replicants. One of the best examples discussing this question is the scene in which Rick Deckard
meats Rachael and administers to her a Voight Kampff Test. The Final Cut version of the film will be
used in this analysis.
The scene is set after Deckard has been given the case of the rogue replicants. His Boss suggests
visiting the Tyrell Corporation to learn if Voight Kampff test will work on the hunted replicants as this
is the organization that builds the

Illegal Trafficking Is A Source, Transit, And Destination...
According to the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime, Bangladesh is a source, transit, and
destination for human trafficking involving women, men, and children (1). Bangladeshi men and
women are lured into work under false pretenses within their own country or into neighboring
countries (2). A large proportion of cross border trafficking in Bangladesh is due to migration in
search of employment. Most are subjected to forced labor or forced prostitution (3).
Thousands of unreported children are trafficked from Bangladesh to other countries every year (2).
Children who are taken by traffickers often come from impoverished or isolated regions. The parents
are promised that their children will have a well paid job or a nice marriage (4). Impoverished and
desperate, they trust the offers, which ultimately lead their children to be exploited through trafficking
(7).
3) If this is a destination country and/or if there is internal human trafficking, which forms of
trafficking are common in this country? (If you think that there are no forms of trafficking happening
within this country, provide citations about that and some reasons why it is not happening. The reasons
don t have to be proven, but they must be plausible.)
Within the country, trafficked people are subjected to sex trafficking, domestic servitude, or forced
and bonded labor (7).
Girls are commonly trafficked into sexual exploitation or bonded servitude. The sexual exploitation of
boys is a fast growing issue in

Memory And The Psychodynamic Theory
The two concepts that I resonated with are Memory and the Psychodynamic theory. Starting with the
Psychodynamic theory is an approach to psychology that studies the psychological forces underlying
human behavior, feelings, and emotions, and how they may relate to early childhood experience. This
theory is most closely associated with the work of Sigmund Freud, and with psychoanalysis, a type of
psychotherapy that attempts to explore the patient s unconscious thoughts and emotions so that the
person is better able to understand him or herself. The second one is Memory; understanding how
memory works will help you improves your memory. Which is an essential key to attaining
knowledge. Memory is one of the important cognitive processes. Memory involves remembering and
forgetting. I chose the two concepts because throughout the class they stood out to the most.
Understanding the conscious, subconscious mind and also memory. I m interested in understanding
the human behavior.
The psychodynamic theory, I didn t really think much about it. But when I got to psychology learning
about this theory stuck out to me, it made so much sense. I ve always thought that what happens in out
childhood molds the person you are today, so when learning about the psychodynamic theory
everything that I thought came to light. The emphasis on unconscious motives and desires, as well as
the importance of childhood experiences in shaping personality. But memory was the most interesting
to me, finding out

Essay about Good Country People
Good Country People Woman, Do You Ever Look Inside?
There are many themes within Flannery O Connor s short story Good Country People . Religion is
definitely one of the more prominent themes that the story holds. Like most of O Connor s works, it
plays a big part in the actions or characteristics of the main characters. This is all on the surface
however. The more important and less accentuated theme is the various facades the characters create
for themselves. These facades prevent them from facing their true grotesque selves. These facades also
hide their weaknesses that they have no wish to face ort just can t understand. People must be
comfortable with every aspect of themselves, because certain people, who in this story ... Show more

The quote acts as foreshadowing for what her attitude towards life will be. We later find out that she is
right, but that she does not live by her credo. Manley Pointer exploits this weakness as soon as she
opened her door. Showing up as a pathetic bible salesman with an ailing heart (which is coincidentally
exactly what Joy Hulga had) laying the old guilt trip on Mrs. Hopewell on how no one wants to deal
with a simple country boy like himself, he attacks her weakness right at the heart of it. Not more than
two minutes after he knocked on the door, he ends up eating dinner with them and at the conclusion is
even invited to return any time he d like. His persona blinds Mrs. Hopewell and prevents her from
being somewhat suspicious of Manley. At the end of the story, we see that Mrs. Hopewell is still
clouded by her weakness and refers to Manly as simple as he passes through a field by Mrs. Hopewell
and Mrs. Freeman. Unlike Mrs. Hopewell, Joy Hulga faces and comes to a realization of her
weakness.
Joy Hulga, who had grown cynical and cold as she grew up with only one leg and heart ailment,
creates an image that she is smarter and better than the rest of the characters in the story. Her
education and self absorption seemed to instill this attitude in her to greater extent than if she hadn t
studied and read so much. Her weakness is the feeling of power she believed she gained from her
studies. She refers to herself as a person who sees

Conclusion Of The Declaration Of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was created in 1776 by Thomas Jefferson and the Continental
Congress. This document is a founding document of the United States because it created the
foundation for the United States government, established independence for the nation, granted equal
rights for all citizens, and gave the nation the ability to sell and trade independently. As a founding
father of the United States, Thomas jefferson was highly qualified to write the Declaration of
Independence. Thomas Jefferson was elected by the thirteen colonies to draft the document because of
his intelligence, experience fighting in the Revolutionary War, status as the founder of the University
of Virginia, and role as the third President of the United States. Jefferson also studied at the College of
William and Mary in the practice of law. Although most believe Jefferson was the only person
involved in writing the Declaration, he actually had a team to help him, called the Continental
Congress. This team consisted of Benjamin Franklin from Pennsylvania, John Adams from
Massachusetts, Roger Sherman of Connecticut, and Robert Livingston of New York. Jefferson stated
unanimously pressed on myself alone to undertake the draught [sic]. I consented; I drew it; but before
I reported it to the committee I communicated it separately to Dr. Franklin and Mr. Adams requesting
their corrections. . . I then wrote a fair copy, reported it to the committee, and from them, unaltered to
the Congress.

  • 3. Alexander The Great s Influence On The World Alexander the Great Occasionally history shows that the world does not have many people that could be entered in the history. And Alexander the Great was one of these people. During his childhood Alexander had great teachers who taught him how to use and how to choose great politics, diplomacy and, how to win the war if that day would come. For many years Alexander the Great studied how to control everything and how to be ready to do anything that might be needed. At the age of sixteen he had to become a king of big kingdom, because his father, Philip, was in the war with Byzantium. Many people believed in Alexander because they knew that he was different from other children in his age, he did not care about bodily pleasures or anything like that, however, he had infinitely ambition which created him a good leader. Alexander strengthened his position in the power, he tamed people that were trying to make a revolution to take power in their hands. To get support from wealthy and other people in Alexander s kingdom, he canceled taxes, and killed other people that might claim for the king s position. Alexander was a great leader, and had plans to enter the war not only with some kingdoms, but to capture and control all kingdoms and all lands, to have the great power without a trace. Alexander the Great ruled his kingdom as a king that had tunneled his skills and had a good deal of experience in the past. He was thankful that his father, Philip, gave him the best teachers ... Theocracy, dictatorships, democracy, and many others have all had periods of time where they reigned as the government of choice. Arguments could be made in favor of each form of government. The key to finding the most viable form of government is to consider this: which form of government provides the most stability for the state? The stability of the state is based upon the foundation of the government. Shaky foundations lead to short lived or miserable nations. Governments based upon religion, birthrights, or one man generally do not have solid foundations. The greatest foundation a government can have is the support of its citizens. Governments which cater to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The two dominant forms of government are democracy and authoritarianism. The two socio economic policies are capitalism and communism. Democracy is a form of government which dominates the western world. In democracy, every person is given equal input into matters of the state, although this does happen to varying degrees. There exist many different types of democracy. Absolute or direct democracy occurs when each citizen personally participates in all decision making processes. This system is difficult to maintain due to the vast number of people and the necessity for all people to be informed, logical, and educated when making many decisions. This form of democracy has not existed in significant sized populations. Representative democracy is a type of government in which the people elect government officials to make decisions concerning the state. The two most prevalent types of representative democracy are democratic republics and parliamentary democracies. In a democratic republic, such as the United States or Canada, the people elect both their representatives in government and their head of state. In a parliamentary democracy, such as the United Kingdom or Australia, the people elect their representatives and their representatives elect their head of state. • 6. Summary Of Carolyn Kizer s Bitch Arguably, poetry could be considered one of the biggest mediums artists use to express themselves to an audience. Everyday, radio stations play hundreds of poems to listeners who feel direct connections to what they hear. A great poet can write a piece, while never having met it s reader, that poem will leave the reader feeling as if it were written for them. Pulitzer Prize Winner Carolyn Kizer, wrote poems that connected with millions of women during the 1960 s, 70 s and 80 s. During a time, when women were not to be taken seriously, she was considered one of the first feminists and spread her messages to readers from all walks of life. One piece Kizer wrote late in her career entitled, Bitch , describes a person s feelings towards an ex lover as they run into each other years later. Hmo Influence On Health Care Running head: INFLUENCE OF HMO S HMO s University of Phoenix Abstract The term Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) was developed in 1970 as part of the Nixon Administration to promote the growth of prepaid plans as a way to improve the nation s health system. The Health Maintenance Organization has an appearance on the outside of being very appealing to those with little money to spend on insurance because it has a very low premium cost, but the truth be known that sometimes cheaper is not always better. In this paper I will discuss how HMO s have influenced current healthcare systems. This was a great thing and to be honest the fees were only 25 more dollars than what I am paying for a HMO now. I became ill and was rushed to one of the best hospitals in the U.S. Tests were run and because I had a PPO there were no questions as to who my primary care doctor was. There were no questions as to what my insurance would pay for on the expensive tests. Now back home in the North I currently have an HMO which as I stated is only a few dollars cheaper than my PPO. I recently broke my back and was rushed to the local hospital because of the emergency situation. While in the E.R. the doctors had to notify my primary doctor and get permission from the insurance company to run tests and for me to even be allowed to stay in that hospitals E.R. My primary care doctor was over an hour away in another state. I was cleared to go to another bigger hospital for emergency surgery but it took a lot of time to get the clearance. I currently am suffering through bills because through an HMO it is a courtesy for any hospital to call any insurance. If I still had PPO I would not have been questioned as to cost and the hospital would have been paid because I could through a PPO go to any hospital without permission. In summary, the time has come for Congress to make decisions regarding appropriate health care and to understand that at times cheaper is not always better. Bibliography Safran, D. W. ... Early Nuclear Physics Essay 1 Introduction 1.1 A Brief History of Early Nuclear Physics In the early 1900s it was seen that a small number of alpha particles were deflected by a large angle, the current model at the time predicted only small deflections of the particles. These results were explained by introducing a tiny positively charged nucleus into our picture of the atom. Although beta decay had been observed as early as 1896 and was known to contain electrons, it wasn t until 1914 that they would break the law of energy conservation if just composed of electrons. To account for the discrepancy in energy during beta decay, Wolfgang Pauli suggested that a very light, neutral charged particle was also released during beta decay, this particle was named the ... A mathematical model can be scrutinised in a large number of ways, does the model agree with existing data, can the model be used to make physical predictions, what assumptions are made etc.. Currently a large factor used in deciding whether to use a model, is the dif ficulty in solving this mathematical model to produce physical values. A much more complicated model may give the most accurate results, but the difficulty in obtaining any result e.g. the computational time required, is not worth the gain in accuracy. A trade off must be made in deciding on the physical model to be used in the situation. In this article a number of different models will be discussed, the formulation and the uses of these models will be studied, as well as there uses in physics. Contingency Theory INTRODUCTION: According to Public Administration in Canada, (pg 70) contingency theory is one of the most recent theories in organizational structure, it argues that there is no one best way of structuring an organization. Instead contingency theory suggests that the best way to structure a particular organization is contingent(dependent) on a number of factors such as the attitudes of the managers and employees, the nature of the task performed by the organization and the nature of the environment. The basic premise of Contingency Theory is that there is no one best way to organize a corporation, to lead a company, or to make decisions. The needs of an organization are better satisfied when it is properly designed and the management style is appropriate both to the tasks undertaken and the nature of the work group. Research Question: How does pH affect the amount of reactivate when reacted with Hydrogen peroxide on an enzyme? Hypothesis: The higher the pH the higher the reaction with Hydrogen Peroxide on the enzyme will increase. Background Information: An enzyme is a catalyst that speeds up chemical reactions, but it does so with out change the chemical reaction its self. Ph is the concentration of hydrogen ions it ranges from 1 14 when the pH is at 7 it is considered neutral. Water has a pH of 7 which is neutral on the pH scale. In this lab we will be experimenting to be how the different number of pH effect the rate the enzyme reacts. Since water is neutral at 7 we have a hypothesis that its amount of form inside the test tube should be higher or have more form then something that is more acidic, which means is pH is lower than 7. The amount of enzyme and the amount of concentration substrate should be equal since it s an equally balanced formula and you can not make more then what you put in that means if the substrate concentration increases then the enzyme activity should also increase. We will be using hydrogen peroxide which is a liquid with strong oxidizing properties to test are hypothesis. Because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sunlight filters through leaves that still clinging to the towering Oak and Maple trees along the dirt trail. Little feet pound the ground, compressing the leaves and sending up puffs of dirt, as a rabbit hops along through the underbrush. He startles a flock of birds which take flight and voice their anger at being disturbed with a chorus of shrill cawing. The little rabbit continues his journey occasionally pausing to rummage around in the leaves, but finds nothing to his liking and proceeds with his hopping. A sudden noise makes him freeze in place. Cautiously, he settles onto his hind legs and his pink nose along with his ears twitch in search of a clue to what might have caused the disturbance. Having decided that the danger has passed the rabbit hops up onto a log which spans a babbling brook. He rests there a moment and allows for the coolness rising from the water to wash over him. After crossing the stream he stops at the water s edge lapping at the water with his tiny tongue. Once he has had his fill, he returns to his burrow nestled among a copse sapling maples, deep within the forest. One good thing about cloning is that they can clone certain organ cells and damaged tissue. But to do something like that it s 50,000 dollars which only certain people can afford. That s why is not extremely common to hear someone say that they have cloned a tissue or an organ. However cloning is not cheap it s expensive but is it worth it? Favorably, it all depends on what you would like to clone and does it have a value to your day to day life. Supposing that you want to clone your dog or cat the estimated price is from 25,000 thousand dollars and it can reach higher pricing. People who have the money to do these sort of things must have been with that pet for a long time and that pet means a lot to them. However when you re cloning a pet yes they are going to have the same characteristics as the one who passed away. Although it won t feel the same as having your original pet. In my opinion people are doing this because it s an outlet for them to forget how their pet and pretend like it s still there with them. Part of these people don t even think on what they are doing because they are so inlove with their animals. They should really think about cloning pets and them make a decision. But if it means a lot to them then they should do it at there own risk. Know in an article named What happened to cloning? • 29. Pros And Cons Of The Canadian And American Banking System Intro Throughout history the Canadian and American banking systems have always taken separate approaches to the financial sector. There are many factors that influence the differences between the banking systems, some of which including their banking regulations, customer base and the chosen style of banking. All the factors presented have influenced the results of the banking sectors in both countries. Both systems have pros and cons, however the argument presented will reflect and support the benefits and success of the Canadian banking system and its ability to support the Canadian economy throughout the country s history. Despite the close geographic coordinates, the two countries have very little in common regarding their financial sectors. The American banking system flourishes when the population has a high borrowing amount that unfortunately carries a larger risk for the government. In comparison, the Canadian system is most prosperous when the population has a high security level on their finances and the banks hold a substantial portion of liquid assets to assist with any financial issues. Summary The differences between the American and Canadian banking systems is not limited to their definition of success. Each countries system also contains several differences within their banking sectors, and many of these differences have helped guide the individual countries to where they stand in todays market. • 31. Characteristics In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies By Sigmund Freud s words, every human s psyche is made up of 3 components. Two of these such components are the id and the ego. While the id is the instinctual part of the human psyche, the ego is the more realistic and civilized part. At times, these traits overpower the other component, which is seen in William Golding s novels. In William Golding s Lord of the Flies, we see how the island plays a role in expressing these traits by letting the id consume the ego. In the beginning, the kids are civilized by making rational decisions, which represents the ego. When the plane crashed, we see the kids group up and begin voting for leadership, which shows them following the societal norms, Let s have a vote. Yes! Vote for chief! (Golding 22). The kids are following democratic values by giving the children the power to vote for their official leaders. Following democratic values shows a bit of their ego because they create systems to keep things organized and suppressing their animal instincts. The society that the boys came from was orderly, something they re trying to imitate. That imitation shows us how their ego is now motivating them to try and get rescued. Additionally, we see Ralph realizing that there are no grownups and begins to organize a system, There aren t any grownups. We shall have to look after ourselves... We ll have to have Hands up like at school (Golding 33). Ralph created a functional system to avoid any chaos on the island. This is interesting because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay will focus on my top three values of altruism, human dignity, and autonomy, how these values are currently represented in my life, and how these values led to my own unique philosophy and definition of nursing. I express human dignity very similar to the way I express altruism, but I express this value further in my work. One main way I express this is through the provision of modesty and privacy in all ways possible while caring for patients. It is as simple as using least exposing methods and being respectful and professional when providing care. I also respect human dignity by giving my patients the power of choice and respecting the wishes that they express. I believe this is important because the hospital environment leaves people vulnerable to have their dignity ignored. Nursing researchers Papastavrou, Efstathiou, and Andreou (2017) describe this problem by stating threats to health were considered more important than those to dignity and the older people endured threats to dignity in favour of treating the health problem (p. 94). With this in mind, I work particularly hard to find ways to uphold human dignity always in my work and throughout my life. Autonomy Autonomy simply means the right to self determination, but it is a key part of nursing care (University of Wisconsin Oshkosh College of Nursing, n.d., Values section, para 2). He acknowledged the significance of the unconscious mind and early childhood, as well as, furthered his studies and developed his own ideas. This involves developing a sense of trust in others, a sense of identity in society, and assisting the next generation for the future. The Erik Erikson s theory of psychosocial stages of development accuracy can perhaps be demonstrated when reflected to one s life s span. Analysis Of The Book Lament For A Son Stages of Grief Introduction The book, Lament For a Son, written by Nicholas Wolterstorff talks about his pain and grief after losing his 25 year old son (Joy, 2009). His son died while on a mountain climbing expedition. Dr. Wolterstorff has several books published during his career as a philosophical theology professor in Yale Divinity. However, he wrote Lament for a Son with a different journal style since it is a personal thing for him. The book is similar to a journal as he narrates the events that happened before and after his son s death. The emotions expressed in the book are common among people who lose close relatives. What matters is how a person handles the issue. Kubler Ross invented the five stages of grief; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptancethat explain the escalation of grief when stricken by bad news (Axelrod, 2004). The paper looks into the book and its relation to the five stages of grief. Question 1 As demonstrated by the five stages of grief, Dr. Wolterstorff suffers greatly emotionally as he deals with his son s death. In a bid to settle his depression, he reads the Bible on similar experiences that people had (Wolterstorff, 1987).
