Chris Brown Satire
Although it sounds like an odd question, it is appropriate. Until this assignment I never realized that
society holds a lower standard for our celebrities, even dismissing when our super stars put the general
public in danger. This is why I believe celebrities should have harsher punishments. For example, how
many of you listen to the singer Chris Brown, do you know he got away with assault charges? For
those of you who knew he was guilty of assault, but not punished, did it affect your respect and
influence your support of Chris Brown?
How many of you remember Justin Bieber, and his dangerous driving and assault charges in Toronto?
Of course, those charges were dropped. He was spending the day with Selena Gomez. It is fortunate

I know this problem cannot be fixed overnight. The law enforcement officers, the Judges, and the rest
of the justice system should be ashamed in the way that celebrities are getting away with crimes. I
believe that this should be a topic that the public should be made aware of. In the atmosphere of public
outcry, the justice system would remedy the unfairness immediately. I know that not everyone will be
accepting of this and not see the point in putting harsher punishments on celebrities for crimes. I think
that if enough people knew about more than just the handful of celebrities that have had the charges
dropped in their criminal cases and the number of celebrities that have gotten away with crimes than
more people would believe in the un equality of celebrities and non celebrities. When society realizes
that celebrities not only are setting the crime tone for our youth but for the next generations of our
youth and so on. One who holds public offices, works for society, or has celebrity status should be
held to a higher standard. I believe that because of the celebrities who have gotten away with crimes
the youth in our nation have been motivated to do crimes. Not only are our young people growing up
in a society that lets people get away with crimes like assault but the ones who do get caught are being
let of with lesser charges then they deserve. Laws and punishments are in place to

In what ways does Fiona Hall challenge traditional art making practices? Contemporary Australian
artist Fiona Hall uses biological features in her artwork to make political and social statements on
contemporary issues and the history behind them. Hall also works with non traditional materials, such
as soft drink cans, candles, pipes, sardine tins, beads, soap and Tupperware. She recontectualises these
everyday objects, inviting us to look beyond the materials to explore deeper meanings and think about
why she used the selected materials. Contemporary artist Fiona Hall challenge traditional perceptions
of art in approach, techniques and practice by continuously breaking down barriers and pushing
expectations. In doing so they also change

On Genetically Modified Crops Nowadays, most people assumed that the genetically modified (GM)
technology is the greatest biotechnologies in agriculture. However, people are unawareness about the
effect of genetically modified GM crops for the health, the environment, the society, the food safety,
and the food security. There are many methods have been proposed to separates the genetically
modified GM crops from non GM crops by using the distance between the crops. However, the value
of cross pollination can be affected in many different factors such as the insects and the air which are
natural elements. Furthermore, to solve these problems, this study suggests a hybrid method
(FPSOSVR) that contains particle swarm optimization, fuzzy logic, and the support vector regression,
for knowing the cross pollination value of pollen recipient from the pollen source to shows the real
solation of genetically modified GM and non GM maize. (Lee et al., 2013) The European Union EU
were still debating on the genetically modified crops (GM), which are based on the positions by the
public, non governmental organizations ( NGOs ), and industry. The farmers in this issue have lacking
debate about whether the genetically modified GM crops will be crucial on the future of the

CHAPTER ONE
1.0 Introduction
Education is so important in any given society. For this reason, it forms a major part of any
government s plans. The plans that any government wishes to implement as regards their education
system is determined by existing policies. Factors which influence formulation of policies form the
subject of this discussion.
For orderly presentation, the essay is divided into three chapters namely the introduction, the main
body and conclusion. The introduction gives definitions of key terms used in the essay as well as
conceptual frame work, the main body outlines and discusses major factors which influenced

Therefore, in the 1950s and 1960s, demand and plans for investment in formal education by African
countries increased. Education was regarded to be a principal weapon in achieving economic growth.
To this end rapid quantitative expansion of the education system became the order of the day in newly
independent African countries.
Man power Shortages
After attaining independence, African countries were confronted with shortage of manpower in
various sectors of the economy. As a result of this scenario, they experienced economic stagnation.
Man power shortages were heavily felt in technical and managerial fields. Thus, education policies in
most African countries were directed towards resolving the man power shortages experienced. This
situation was evident from what obtained in Kenya. As Eshiwani (1993:26), observes at independence
in 1963, Kenya found herself with a high shortage of skilled manpower to run the economy. In order
to solve this problem, a commission was appointed to advise the government on the formulation and
interpretation of national educational policies. Therefore, it can be stated that man power planning in
newly independent countries of Africa gave a direction to the formulation of education policies.
Consequently, the governments of newly independent countries of Africa saw it paramount to expand
the education systems of their countries in

The Influence of the Western Culture on the
Introduction
Culture is a broad term which has been described by various philosophers since decades. It has been
claimed by Raymond Williams to be ...one of the two or three most complicated words in English
language (Williams, 1976). Different definitions of the term, culture may have distinct descriptive
ways and criterion to evaluate human activity. It is important to define the broad base of the
sophisticated term culture , in the sense used later in the paper, to narrow down the discussion on our
topic.
Culture is a word stemming from a Latin word cultura which means to cultivate (Harper, 2008). It is
defined by Findley and Rothney as, systems of symbols and meanings that even their creator contest,
which lack fixed boundaries, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the same time Globalization allows different cultures to combine and integrate through having
common social activists, labor organizers, journalists, academics and many others (Sundaram, 2006).
Music, theater and the film industry has also been broadly influenced by the increased globalization.
Music has been a center stone of the sub continental background. It has been traditionaly been based
on the simple melodies and is regarded as one of the most well developed systems of the classical
world. The classical beats of the conventional music provide the true cultural and the traditional taste
to the sub continental music. Later in the 13th Centruy the sub continental music remained under the
influence of the Islamic presence. There is a faction who believes that the classic sub continental
traditional music dates back to Amir Khusro, one of the singers in the Mughal Empire. The
remarkable poetry by some famous poets brought the traditional music to new hieghts. However the
first influence of the sub continental music of such kind was widely evident in the 1960 s when it
found its way in the form of some extra ordinary play of the sitar (a voiln type instrument) by Ravi
Shankar on the famous Beatles album, Sgt. Pepper s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The sub continental
music made its way into the west with the well known players such as Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar

that the price charged is too high (United States Bureau of the Census, 2002). A high income will

useful information to the potential customers. It will affect demand by creating an awareness and

Industrial Revolution Vs Second Industrialization
First, the Industrial Revolution effectively expanded the United States. Without the Industrial
Revolution, railroads would not have come to exist to the extent that they did. Industrialization
allowed the production of huge quantities of rails and of rolling stock to go on those rails. When
railroads spread out across the US, eventually reaching the Pacific, the country s size effectively
increased. Goods from one part of the country could easily be brought to other parts of the country.
This was such an important step in creating a wonderful country.
Second, the Industrial Revolution made cities larger and more important. Before industrialization,
cities had been important as transportation hubs, but had not been major economic engines. During the
Industrial Revolution, cities grew as factories grew faster and attracted workers. The cities also
became more important to the economy because they were the site at which valuable goods were
being produced.

Treating employees fairly
I believe treating employees fairly will promote employee working performance and avoid some of
the problems that come from employees.
When I did my first job in a bank, my manager didn t treat all employees fairly. He treated several
employees who had a good personal relationship with him much better than others. Those employees
had already worked with him for a long time before I joined the company. If they made a mistake, he
would try to cover up the mistake and made it seem like nothing happened. However, if other
employees, including me, made the same mistake, he would ask us to his office and have a severe
criticism on us. Once the department had a promotion opportunity, he ignored the working
performance and promoted an employee who had a good relationship with him.
Over time some of the employees lost their enthusiasm for their jobs, they didn t care about the
working performance any more. They just completed their work based on their working duties without
any additional contribution to the company. Some of them became sensitive to their working duties; if
a task was beyond their working duties, they wouldn t do it. Disputes over working duties often
occurred among the employees. Some of the employees began to complain about our manager.
Obviously, our manager didn t treat us in a fair manner. Fairness in the working place means that

Numbers In Hinduism
Chapter 11: The Importance of Numbers in Hinduism
The scriptures state that numbers ranging from 0 to 10 have a symbolic importance for Hindus. They
are associated with some of the key principles and gods of the religion. According to historical
records, the Hindus developed the number system so they can systematically arrange their knowledge
regarding the gods and the theories of creation. This chapter will provide you with some examples as
to how numbers were used in Hindu ceremonies.
Thousands of years ago, Indian citizens were so religious. They worshipped and prayed to different
gods on a daily basis. They believed that the ultimate goal of a person s existence is to attain freedom
from the repetitive cycle of births and deaths. Also, they thought that withdrawal from the society and
abandonment of responsibilities were never needed to establish a relationship with the divine beings.
Happiness and wealth were important for Hindus but they didn t consider these as goals. They focused
their time and effort on achieving freedom from the illusions created by Maya. In order to attain this
liberation, they lived their lives and performed their tasks without any hint of passion. They consider
the gods as their saviors, guardians, guides, and witnesses. Because they needed to present their
knowledge about the divine in an understandable manner, they invented the concept of ... Show more

Essay on Two Brands of Nihilism
Two Brands of Nihilism
As philosopher and poet Nietzsche s work is not easily conformable to the traditional schools of
thought within philosophy. However, an unmistakable concern with the role of religion and values
penetrates much of his work.
Contrary to the tradition before him, Nietzsche launches vicious diatribes against Christianity and the
dualistic philosophies he finds essentially life denying. Despite his early tutelage under the influence
of Schopenhauer s philosophy, Nietzsche later philosophy indicates a refusal to cast existence as
embroiled in pessimism but, instead, as that which should be affirmed, even in the face of bad fortune.

Good and evil are not the approbation or prohibition against certain actions, rather, such doctrine
codifies self hatred and begs the rejection of human nature . Christianity goes beyond a denial of just
the flesh and blood of the body to do away with the whole of the world. In
Twilight of the Idols, Nietzsche suggests in several places, that the world is falsified when dictated by
the tenets of dualistic philosophies, with emphasis on Christianity.
How the True World Finally Became Fable, a section in Twilight of the Idols, is subtitled The History
of an Error , for it supposes to give a short rendering of how the true world is lost in the histories of
disfiguring philosophies that posit otherworldly dualistic metaphysics. First, Plato s vision of the
realm of forms. The true world attainable for the sage, the pious, the virtuous man... , a feasible world,
achievable through piety and wisdom.
A world a man may come to know, at least possible for the contemplative and diligent student. In this
early imagining the world is not entirely lost yet, it is however, removed from the concrete world. A
world hardly accessible but by the few who might escape the cave.
The first realization of nihilism is the denial of the sensuous world for the really real. The idea of the
true world removed is then characterized as the

Sexism And The Effects Of Growing Up
Sexism and the Effects of Growing up in a Man s World

Southeastern Louisiana University
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine whether sexism has an effect on the lives of women in
situations such as breastfeeding their child and whether or not people take offense to the sight of
seeing a mother breastfeed her child. I will recruit 100 participants, 50 males, and 50 females, ranging
from ages 18 to 50. I will perform my study using an experimental design where participants are
shown a series of images in a video on a projector screen and they will place the images in one of two
categories, with ten slots open for each category. The next part of my study will be to ask the
participants in an essay question if they would continue, or be comfortable with their significant other
continuing to breastfeed in public after receiving negative feedback from a stranger (See Appendix). I
hypothesize that the majority of the participants will place an image of a mother breastfeeding in a
public setting in a bad deeds category, but will place a picture of shirtless men playing football in the
park in the good deeds category. I expect to come to the conclusion that people are more likely to take
offense to the sight of a woman breastfeeding than to seeing a shirtless man.

For many centuries, Judaic and Arabian societies have engaged in one of the most complicated and

for all the world s peacemakers the Arab Israeli conflict, particularly the war between Israel and the
Palestinian Territories, is rooted in far more then ethnic tensions. Instead of drawing attention towards
high ranking officials of the Israeli government and Hamas, focus needs to be diverted towards the

The Background of the Arab Israeli Conflict
The Arab Israeli Conflict, and the struggle for a religious homeland, is a complex and somewhat
mystified conflict. The tensions between the Palestinian and Israeli peoples can be traced back to
Biblical times, when Abraham allocated for one of his sons, Isaac, to lay claim to Judea or modern day
Israel. Muslims claimed that the elder son Ishmael had been allocated the region in the Qur an.
Although many historians believe otherwise, these claims are still the more popular historical context
amongst monotheistic practitioners. Despite the Arab Israeli conflict being overshadowed by the
countless episodes of war, the middle ages brought with it limited prosperity. The period prior to the
first crusades saw an age of enlightment for the Arabs and the Jews, who would share their culture
with one another and attempt to co exist within Jerusalem. During this time, both cultures would make
important literary and medical advancements. However, the glory was short lived and soon the
crusades opened the floodgates and brought back with it war and tension. The end of the 19th century
brought with it the rise of Arab nationalism and Zionism, which called for the existence of a
permanent Jewish State. Herzl s 1896 manifesto The Jewish State , popularized the idea of Isaac s
promised land and influenced the Jewish peoples of Eastern Europe and Russia to proclaim Israel their
own. The Jewish people took their first steps

The American Of The Mexican War
In an effort to gain the Texas territory, Polk s decision to declare war on Mexico was provoked by the
Mexican government itself. His diplomatic course of action proved to have been in vain in an attempt
to gain compromise and peace between America and Mexico. Regardless of the attempts made by the
American government to peacefully coerce Mexico to relinquish the land, America was denied each
and every time. Military presence was necessary in order to facilitate a greater respect from Mexico
and to also offer additional protection for the Americans residing in Texas at the time; it was not meant
by any means to act as a threat towards the Mexican government. Provided these facts, it can be
assumed that the Mexican War was not an exercise in American imperialism, but rather, was instigated
by the increasing fear felt by the Mexican government due to the lack of power within their own

Green Marketing Essay example
In today s day and age, everyone is concerned about the environment. Our society is increasingly
encouraged to go green, to do our part in making the world a cleaner, more eco friendly place. Green
marketing is one major strategy being used to promote such efforts, but is it effective? There is some
debate about this concept, including the history of green marketing, the problems with green
marketing so far, the effectiveness of marketing schemes like Sunchips and Toyota, and the strategies
that could be used to increase the ability of green marketing. While protecting our planet is a noble
concept, its execution seems to be a little vague. Of all the aspects concerning green marketing, one
thing is clear: our planet still has a long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sunchips provides not only a healthier chip but also uses renewable energy and a biodegradable bag
and encourages consumers to join their eco movement. Other companies, such as Pepsi and
Volkswagen, are joining in too. The Refresh Everything project launched by the major soda chain is
attempting to make its product more environmentally friendly, and Volkswagen is taking even bigger
strides with its movement, The Fun Theory, which encourages customers to be green while making the
process fun (Park 1). Other major corporations jumping on the green bandwagon include Hewlett
Packard, which boasts its recycling efforts and energy efficiency, and Ben and Jerry s with its effort to
Lick Global Warming and employ other eco conscious practices (Rottkamp 1). While these strategies
have shed light on being friendly to our planet, the fact remains that the large portion of our
population simply is not embracing it. One major problem as far as companies using green marketing
and why it isn t working is that the relatively vague definition of green marketing leaves a lot of room
for loopholes. Green marketing, by simply being defined as the marketing of products that are
assumed to be environmentally safe, allows companies to take advantage of this idea even if their
products are not the best example of green ones (McClendon 1). Most companies also don t practice

Frederick Douglass Disobedience
This quote sparks interest due to disobedience often containing a negative connotation. However, in
this quote disobedience is honorable, and to be called disobedient is a compliment. According to
Wilde, disobedience is beneficial and without it social progress could not be made. Without
disobedience, society is unable to change or improve from past mistakes. Without rebellion or
disobedience, what will promote people to act on their injustices? Rebellion and disobedience are
beneficial in promoting social progress. Through it, citizens are able to bring issues and injustices they
want acknowledged to the forefront. Through these ways, they try to make the world a better place for
everyone and to bring people to the realization as to why the issues that they face are at fault and that
they should be restored. In relation to the novel, The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass,
Frederick Douglass s disobedience ultimately sparked his freedom. Being introduced to the heart
rending shrieks from his aunt at such a young age, slavery has implanted a long lasting effect on his
life. Often times, when one experiences a painful memory in the manner such as, watching a family
member hit until they are covered with blood, sparks a fire to stand up for what is right in the back of
their mind. Douglass carried those visions of his aunt along with him his whole life, as well as his own
repulsive images and memories. These memories brought him to his jurisdiction of fighting back

This proposal takes a look on how to save Sawasdee Media company from sinking business. It
concerns with the background of the company, methodology of analysis, and recommendation. The
objective of this proposal is to identify and analyze possible investment projects that are most likely to
be successful in the future. The study points out some reasons that indicate the need of reorganization
of the firm. For financial analysis part, net present value (NPV) and internal rate of return (IRR) are
highly involved in determining the level of project value. In addition, it also includes some interesting
market researches from reliable sources to support decision making.

The company staked most of its outlay to the latest TV set, WT 23, in developing, producing and
marketing the product that turned out to be very infamous to the market. In total, the firm spent more
than 80 million Baht for WT 23. Although many electronic experts criticize product s lack of
innovation and poor performance and many journalists see the future of the company as a downturn,
the company promised the new product launch to be a big step for media technology.
Success
Recently, Sawasdee Media completed official partnership contract with True Internet Corporation
which is Thailand s leading Internet provider. This agreement is considered to be a big step for the
company because True Internet Corporation had overall 36% market share in the broadband market in
Thailand and 66% share in Bangkok according to the Bangkok Post report. The contract creates a
perfect opportunity that the firm can use to benefit the new project in the future.
Failure
Last year, the company had to sell its DVD player business to the Hitachi Group in order to generate
money to support the latest television series which turned out to be a big flop to the company. In the
past, the company was used to be very adaptable to several business obstacles whether it is financial
crisis or threat from newcomers. But nowadays, Sawasdee Media, who ever was the number one of
largest television manufacturer in Thailand, is losing its title after a poor

After thirty years at the helm of Fortuga Artisans, Inc., a home décor manufacturing company,
founded Peter Fortuga in 2011 announced his retirement to his staff. Expeditiously, the search for a
replacement commenced and the board of directors found Doug Jeffers, a well known interior

connected individual, Jeffers appeared qualified through his innovative approach to lead the company
to new heights.
Analysis of Leadership Strategies
Due to his past success, one could presume Jeffers management approach would be inspirational, and
his community profile renders him as an authentic and charismatic leader. In fact, he degraded
employees, ignored other s sentiments and notions, determined strategic decisions unaided,
disregarded company policies, and discounted the need for work and life balance. As a result, Jeffers
personified the negative characteristics of charismatic leaders, and he is the antithesis of the positive
attributes. However, the public s perception of Jeffers did not translate over to the team at Fortuga. In
fact, he was distal to feedback and disregarded company policies these traits embody a charismatic
leader (Spahr, 2016). If Jeffers were a charismatic leader, he would be an effective communicator,

Justice Summary Just as truth is the prominent idea on which both goodness and beauty rest, so too is
justice the central idea on which liberty and equality rest. Mortimer Adler, author of Six Great Ideas,
believes that justice is an unlimited good that a society can never have too much of. He holds that
justice should be valued over liberty and equality because it alone can magnify peace and harmony in
a society, while maintaining any set limits. Justice is separated into two different categories: individual
justice in relation to other humans and the government, and governmental justice in relation to its
populace. It is crucial to note that fairness is treating each individual consistently and equally as the

such as lanthanum [13] aluminum [14], tin [15], magnesium [16], titanium [17] has been widely

Spanking Punishment
Spanking and time out are both discipline strategies parents often resort to when their children
misbehave, and they are both considered punishment. According to the social learning theory, a
punishment such as spanking should follow a non desirable behavior in an attempt to decrease the
likelihood that it ever occurs again (Barry, 2012). For any punishment to be effective, parents should
follow three basic principles: First, the punishment must be consistently used. That is, whenever the
child act inappropriately, punishment must ensue. Letting a child get away from a punishment not only
confuses the child, but might also act as a reward to the child and increase the likelihood that the bad
bahavior happens again (Barry, 2012). Second, any punishment must be accompanied by a concise
explanation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Studies have shown that combining reasoning and punishment leads to greater reduction in
misbehavior than using punishment alone (Berk, 2012), which is consistent with the idea that children
are more willing to comply with rules that seem fair and reasonable (Berk, 2012). Third, any
punishment must be based on a loving and warm parent child relationship. Children of loving and
caring parents are more likely to feel guilty when they misbehave, and are more willing to correct
their wrongdoing to restore the relationship with their parents (Berk, 2012). In addition to these
principles, the timing of punishment is also important it should occur immediately after the misdeed
so the child can relate the punishment to their misbahavior (Barry, 2012). Furthermore, spanking and
time out should only be used on children from 2 to 10 years old, after they can control their behavior

for your heart has been stopped because of it. Other than stopping your heart, the bypass machine is

The Evolving Relationship Between The U.s. Government And...
Chaelee Dalton Burnett Honors World Religions November 7 2014 The Evolving Relationship
Between the U.S. Government and the Mormon Church In 1844, Joseph Smith, ecclesiastical leader of
the Latter day Saints and presidential candidate, was murdered by an angry mob. This mob was
fostered by the release of a newspaper questioning Smith s practices (including polygamy),
qualifications, and intentions for his potential presidency. More than 150 years later, Mitt Romney, a
member of the LDS Church, launched a presidential campaign and garnered forty two percent of the
popular vote. Although these two candidates share a faith, their political roles and views are
substantially different. This is representative of the significant changes in the relationship between the
Mormon church and the U.S. government. A homegrown religion originating in the late 1820s,
Mormonism arose as a rejection of the existing Christian sects and a return to what the Mormons
considered to be pure Christianity. Similarly, the members believed their desire for a new kind of
government stemmed from their disillusionment with what they believed was a corrupt government
and a desire for the reestablishment of true American values and the original intent of the founding
fathers. This sentiment is epitomized by Joseph Smith s presidential platform, which states No honest
man can doubt for a moment, the glory of American liberty is on the wane; and that calamity and

Mutual inductance is the magnetic field generated by a coil of wire which induces a voltage in the

The Rise Of Witch-Hunting In 15th And 16th Century Europe
The Rise of Witch Hunting in 15th and 16th Century Europe Following the Middle Ages, as the
Renaissance and Reformation began across Europe, an intense fear of witches was provoked among
citizens. Witches were characterized as individuals who were possessed by the Devil, and were
believed to be threats to the order and wellbeing of society. Individuals accused of witchcraft endured
trials that typically resulted in execution. Satanic worshipping was considered heresy, thus was these
executions were considered justified. While witch hunting occurred throughout Europe, the most
prevalent areas were regions of Germany, as well as other Protestant areas such as Switzerland,
England, and Denmark. Although individuals were often persecuted as witches out of a fear of the
unknown that sparked mass hysteria in the Renaissance, the desire for religious conformity to
Christianity throughout the Reformation and the exploitation of fear as a means of political control
also lead to an increase in persecutions throughout the 15th and 16th centuries. Ultimately, the witch
trials throughout Europe were the result of hysteria following shifting social ideals within the
Renaissance. Following the Black Plague, Europeans began questioning existing social structures,
specifically religious standings. People sought new answers and began exploring through science and

Emily Dickinson s Capitalization and Punctuation
The poetry of Emily Dickinson is one of the most recognizable of the 19th century. Dickinson s poetry
stands out because of its unconventional use of capitalization and punctuation. Her poems contain
capitalized words which are not normally capitalized. Her poems are noted for the frequent use of the
dash. Literary scholars have attempted to interpret Dickinson s unconventional capitalization and
punctuation. Some believe that it was merely part of Dickinson s penmanship (Weisbuch 73). They
therefore edit Dickinson s poetry and publish them in standardized form. Others believe that the
capitalization and punctuation were a conscious effort on Dickinson s part. These scholars notice the
little nuances of Dickinson s dashes, such as whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Dickinson is not consistent in her capitalization (Porter 140). She does not capitalize every
single noun. As demonstrated above, the word light is not capitalized. Furthermore, Dickinson also
capitalizes words which are not nouns, as seen in lines 4 6 of He fumbles at your Soul . The word
ethereal is an adjective, but Dickinson chooses to capitalize it.
He stuns you by degrees Prepares your brittle Nature For the Ethereal Blow
The capitalized words are the key words of the poem. They add weight to the lines, tipping the balance
of the poetic rhythm. The reader is invited to ponder over their meaning and significance (Miller 59).
The capitalization gives Dickinson s poems concreteness and symbolism (Miller 58). The reader s
attention is drawn to these capitalized words. They form an image in the reader s mind. For example,
in the first example, the capitalized words are Slant, Winter, Afternoons, Heft, Cathedral, and Tunes.
These words alone evoke the image of a cold and lonely day which burdens the heart like the heavy
and mournful tones of an organ. Just words Winter Afternoons carry sensations of frigidness,
bleakness, and loneliness. Winter Afternoons set the scene and describe the mood (Porter 141). The
words Ethereal Blow strike the reader as an oxymoron. Ethereal implies something light, delicate, and

differed from the mother country of England. For example, in 1631, the first system of law
enforcement was established. It was modeled after the British police structure, which incorporated the
watch, constables, and sheriffs in a community based police organization. While colonists started
settling into the New World, local ordinances had allowed for constables to be appointed. The
townspeople of each town created an unpaid watch made up of six watchmen, one constable, and
several volunteers who patrolled at night. This is what is written down in the National Law
Enforcement Museum for the origin of the police, but in actuality, the police system was shaped and
originated by slave patrols and night watches.

Classical Hollywood Cinema
In the following essay I have been asked to write a 2000 word essay discussing the main characteristic
features of the classical Hollywood narrative film. This is a style of clarity where the viewer should
not be confused about space, time, events or characters motivations and although a number of classical
narrative traditions have been modified, or even rejected, this unfussy style of making movies it is still
very much alive today and remains the dominant way of telling the story so it reaches a wider
audience. During the course of my research I found appropriate information in many places. The ...

Cities already established In the East are presented to us as feminine and cultured places, contrasting
with the wild west . In director John Fords The searchers(Ford,1956,US) we see the iconic John
Wayne star in a celebration of the spirt that vanished with the taming of the American wilderness. This
is an indication of the system of the East taking hold and our heros evidently have no more sunset to
ride off into. In the classical Hollywood style of filmmaking, the mise en scene, which is essentially
everything that the audience sees, depicts an external world that sticks to the norms of realism
determinded by the conditions of the story. The film historian Susan Hayward insisted that shots,
lighting, and colour must not draw attention to themselves any more than the editing, the mise en
scene or sound (2). As regards to the cinematography, it must, in my opinion, be unobtrusive. The
style itself suffers if the audience is reminded they are watching a film. On occasions when a film does
include visual distortions, there is almost always a narrative justification. In John Hustons film noir
masterpiece The Maltese Falcon (John Huston, 1941, US), the character of John Spade meets his
nemisis and the image becomes blurry. This effect threatens to remind the audience they are viewing a
film. However, this is narrative motivated as we find out John has been drugged and we are viewing

The Suspense Of The Novel The Great Gatsby By F. Scott...
The certainty with which the protagonist assumes her characters shows the intuitive desire by humans
to be who they are not. At the opening of the novella, the protagonist watches the mistresses at the
playhouse being fawned over by men, and decides she wants to experience it because her status in
society stopped men from acting in such a way around her. Upon returning the next night and meeting
Beauplaisir, Haywood writes: ...found a vast deal of pleasure in conversing with him in this free and
unrestrained manner, (Haywood, 2798).. This suggests that the protagonist not only enjoyed the fact
that Beauplaisir was not treating her as someone who ranks in a social class above him, but that she
was able to explore a part of her character she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Haywood writes: ...she was so admirably skilled in the art of feigning, that she had the power of
putting on almost what face she pleased, and knew so exactly how to form her behavior to the
character she represented, (Haywood, 2805). By including this, Haywood is suggesting that the
protagonist is able to change who she is without any detection, but that humans are capable of doing
the same thing, and do so every day when they get dressed in the morning. The protagonist changes
her behaviors and clothing in order to comply with that character, and even when she is playing
herself, she is still dresses and acts in order to comply with the character expected of her. She is
certain of every action she does, but also that every thing she does is necessary in order to fulfill what
is expected of a character, even if that character is her. The protagonist s certainty of character
modification, both in her actions and mindset, translate to society. Beauplaisir, who does not undergo
any physical character changes, is certain in how is character acts depending on who he is around. The
novella depicts Beauplaisir as a character who is able to manipulate himself and the conversation,
depending on who he is with and the situation. This is seen first at the playhouse, when talking to the
protagonist as the mistress. Haywood writes: ...he changed the

The Reid Vs. Reid Essay
It may seem implausible that someone would confess to a crime they did not commit, but it does
happen, and the prevalence of such confessions occurs at a much higher rate in juvenile populations.
Aggressive interrogation methods, like those used in the Reid Technique, lead to a greater probability
of false confessions among juvenile subjects than if those techniques had not been used. In a study
completed by University of San Francisco law professor and renowned false confession researcher,
Richard Leo, 35% of the 125 proven false confession cases he sampled included confessors who were
under the age of 18 (2004). Before we examine what it is about this technique that prompts false
confessions, we must first outline the systematic, nine step process developed by John E. Reid
Associates nearly forty years ago.
The Reid Technique is the most widely adopted interrogation method used by branches of law
enforcement, the military, government entities, as well as private enterprises. To say that it is the
unchallenged gold standard would be an understatement, and understandably so. If the main goal of an
interrogation is to win a confession from the accused, then there is no greater tool. According to Reid s
own marketing propaganda, 95% Reid trained survey respondents indicated that their confession rate
improved when using the Reid Technique. More than half of them stated that their confession rate
increased by more than 25% and nearly a quarter of them said it increased by

Microsoft Sql Database Management System
Introduction and Methodology
Microsoft SQL Database Administrator Database plays a major role in any organization. As a
Database administrator(DBA) he/she is responsible in developing, implementing and maintaining the
databases and DBA s are also responsible in updating, backup s and security of the databases. The first
Database Management System was developed in the late 1960 s by two firms based on their network
data model but in the early 1970 s a scientist of IBM introduced Relational database theory after six
years IBM completed prototype on RDBMS (relational database management system). Oracle created
the first versatile Relational Database Management Systems In 1983, which allowed organizations to
use their DBMS on different machines including mainframes, workstations, and Pc s. In 1993
Microsoft first created a database application called Access for Macintosh machines. Microsoft SQL
server is a RDBMS which is used to store and retrieve the data by other software applications. There
are 12 types of servers concentrated on various types of user s from single computer to large networks
(Microsoft SQL DBA). I have pursued my under graduation in Information Technology, during my
course work I was more interested in databases and I have developed special interest in making it as
my career. I have learned basics of all database concepts and I have attended extra tuitions and
seminars to get in depth knowledge about it. In the last semester of my master s program I

Underage Drinking And Alcohol Advertising
Passage two focus is on personal actions. Alcohol ads are not forcing underage drinkers to pick up a
drink, it is their choice to do so. They already observe their role models and favorite celebrity, pick up
an alcohol beverage and drink it. Already in a teen mind, if they see their favorite actor do it, they
want to feel cool doing it also. Alcohol ads are under the same freedom as everyone else, freedom of
speech in the Constitution. This is a reasonable support that they are not trying to condone underage
drinking, however, they will not take the blame of underage drinking. They feel as though lawyers are
on a case putting an end to drinking, while tobacco consumers are uprising. Passage two believes,
alcohol publicity is identical with

Machiavelli Vs Obama
Alexandria Sledd
POLS 1102
Sunday, September 17, 2017
Machiavelli or Obama? In the early 1500s, Machiavelli wrote a book based off of Barak Obama. The
prince is what some call him. Well, not quite. Machiavelli s book lays out a platform for what a prince,
or in this case a president, should be like and what actions to take for his or her own country. Barack
Obama has features about him that correlate with what Machiavelli states throughout his book.
Machiavelli may not have been writing about Barrack, but maybe he helped shape Barrack Obama as
a president. The way Barrack Obama acts on a daily basis, talks about certain issues, and his
accomplishments throughout his presidency all coincide with what Machiavelli describes in his book
The Prince. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone knows that it is a fine thing for a prince to keep his word and to live with integrity rather
than with cunning. But our recent experience has been that the princes who achieved great things
haven t worried much about keeping their word. Knowing how to use cunning to outwit men, they
have eventually overcome those who have behave honestly (Machiavelli, 37). An example of how
Obama fooled the Americans was when he appointed Lawrence Summers and Timothy Geithner as his
economic advisors. These two men are very strong supporters of financial deregulation; however,
Obama made a statement about how he was appalled by the greed demonstrated on wall street. This is
not only hypocritical, but it is exactly as Machiavelli would approve of as he states, A prudent lord,
therefore, can t and shouldn t keep his word when that could be used against him and the reasons that
led him to give it in the first place exist no longer. If men were entirely good this advice would be bad;
but in fact they are dismally bad, and won t keep their promises to you, so you need not keep your
promises to them. And a prince will never be short of legitimate reasons for not keeping his promises

The U.S. Legal System: A Short Description
Federal Judicial Center background The U.S. Constitution establishes a federal system of government.
The constitution gives specific powers to the federal (national) government. All power not delegated
to the federal government remains with the states. Each of the 50 states has its own state constitution,
governmental structure, legal codes, and judiciary. The U.S. Constitution establishes the judicial
branch of the federal government and specifies the authority of the federal courts. Federal courts have

The judicial branches of the federal and state governments are separate from the legislative and
executive branches. To insure judicial independence, the judicial branches of the federal and state
governments control the administration of the courts. Court administration includes managing court
budgets, prescribing rules of trial and appellate procedure, reviewing judicial discipline matters,
offering continuing educational programs for judges, and studying court performance. In the federal
judiciary, the Judicial Conference of the United States, made up of 27 members (the Chief Justice of
the United States and 26 judges from each geographic region of the United States) has overall
administrative responsibility for the courts and has primary authority to make policy regarding the
operation of the judicial branch of the government. The Judicial Conference is assisted by a large

  • 2. Chris Brown Satire Although it sounds like an odd question, it is appropriate. Until this assignment I never realized that society holds a lower standard for our celebrities, even dismissing when our super stars put the general public in danger. This is why I believe celebrities should have harsher punishments. For example, how many of you listen to the singer Chris Brown, do you know he got away with assault charges? For those of you who knew he was guilty of assault, but not punished, did it affect your respect and influence your support of Chris Brown? How many of you remember Justin Bieber, and his dangerous driving and assault charges in Toronto? Of course, those charges were dropped. He was spending the day with Selena Gomez. It is fortunate for Bieber ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I know this problem cannot be fixed overnight. The law enforcement officers, the Judges, and the rest of the justice system should be ashamed in the way that celebrities are getting away with crimes. I believe that this should be a topic that the public should be made aware of. In the atmosphere of public outcry, the justice system would remedy the unfairness immediately. I know that not everyone will be accepting of this and not see the point in putting harsher punishments on celebrities for crimes. I think that if enough people knew about more than just the handful of celebrities that have had the charges dropped in their criminal cases and the number of celebrities that have gotten away with crimes than more people would believe in the un equality of celebrities and non celebrities. When society realizes that celebrities not only are setting the crime tone for our youth but for the next generations of our youth and so on. One who holds public offices, works for society, or has celebrity status should be held to a higher standard. I believe that because of the celebrities who have gotten away with crimes the youth in our nation have been motivated to do crimes. Not only are our young people growing up in a society that lets people get away with crimes like assault but the ones who do get caught are being let of with lesser charges then they deserve. Laws and punishments are in place to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To this end rapid quantitative expansion of the education system became the order of the day in newly independent African countries. Man power Shortages After attaining independence, African countries were confronted with shortage of manpower in various sectors of the economy. As a result of this scenario, they experienced economic stagnation. Man power shortages were heavily felt in technical and managerial fields. Thus, education policies in most African countries were directed towards resolving the man power shortages experienced. This situation was evident from what obtained in Kenya. As Eshiwani (1993:26), observes at independence in 1963, Kenya found herself with a high shortage of skilled manpower to run the economy. Those employees had already worked with him for a long time before I joined the company. If they made a mistake, he would try to cover up the mistake and made it seem like nothing happened. They are associated with some of the key principles and gods of the religion. According to historical records, the Hindus developed the number system so they can systematically arrange their knowledge regarding the gods and the theories of creation. This chapter will provide you with some examples as to how numbers were used in Hindu ceremonies. Thousands of years ago, Indian citizens were so religious. They worshipped and prayed to different gods on a daily basis. They believed that the ultimate goal of a person s existence is to attain freedom from the repetitive cycle of births and deaths. Also, they thought that withdrawal from the society and abandonment of responsibilities were never needed to establish a relationship with the divine beings. Happiness and wealth were important for Hindus but they didn t consider these as goals. They focused their time and effort on achieving freedom from the illusions created by Maya. In order to attain this liberation, they lived their lives and performed their tasks without any hint of passion. They consider the gods as their saviors, guardians, guides, and witnesses. I will recruit 100 participants, 50 males, and 50 females, ranging from ages 18 to 50. I will perform my study using an experimental design where participants are shown a series of images in a video on a projector screen and they will place the images in one of two categories, with ten slots open for each category. The next part of my study will be to ask the participants in an essay question if they would continue, or be comfortable with their significant other continuing to breastfeed in public after receiving negative feedback from a stranger (See Appendix). I hypothesize that the majority of the participants will place an image of a mother breastfeeding in a public setting in a bad deeds category, but will place a picture of shirtless men playing football in the park in the good deeds category. I expect to come to the conclusion that people are more likely to take offense to the sight of a woman breastfeeding than to seeing a shirtless man. Eyewitness Testimony Research Paper Eyewitness Testimony The use of the eyewitness testimony has always been viewed as one of the most reliable forms of evidence when it comes to the court system. Recently many cases have been brought up where the use of the eyewitness testimony has failed and put an innocent citizen into jail leaving the criminal on the loose and a threat to the population. This has caused eyewitness testimony to go from a reliable source to a controversial subject for many. The eyewitness testimony should not be used because memory is corrupted after a certain length of time, interviews push eyewitnesses to identify a subject, and lineups further confuse the witness. Introduction For many centuries, Judaic and Arabian societies have engaged in one of the most complicated and lengthy conflicts known to mankind, the makings of a highly difficult peace process. Unfortunately for all the world s peacemakers the Arab Israeli conflict, particularly the war between Israel and the Palestinian Territories, is rooted in far more then ethnic tensions. Instead of drawing attention towards high ranking officials of the Israeli government and Hamas, focus needs to be diverted towards the more suspect and subtle international relations theory of realism which, has imposed more problems than solutions. The Background of the Arab Israeli Conflict The Arab Israeli Conflict, and the struggle for a religious homeland, is a complex and somewhat mystified conflict. The tensions between the Palestinian and Israeli peoples can be traced back to Biblical times, when Abraham allocated for one of his sons, Isaac, to lay claim to Judea or modern day Israel. Muslims claimed that the elder son Ishmael had been allocated the region in the Qur an. Although many historians believe otherwise, these claims are still the more popular historical context amongst monotheistic practitioners. Despite the Arab Israeli conflict being overshadowed by the countless episodes of war, the middle ages brought with it limited prosperity. The period prior to the first crusades saw an age of enlightment for the Arabs and the Jews, who would share their culture with one another and attempt to co exist within Jerusalem. During this time, both cultures would make important literary and medical advancements. However, the glory was short lived and soon the crusades opened the floodgates and brought back with it war and tension. The end of the 19th century brought with it the rise of Arab nationalism and Zionism, which called for the existence of a permanent Jewish State. • 22. The American Of The Mexican War In an effort to gain the Texas territory, Polk s decision to declare war on Mexico was provoked by the Mexican government itself. His diplomatic course of action proved to have been in vain in an attempt to gain compromise and peace between America and Mexico. Regardless of the attempts made by the American government to peacefully coerce Mexico to relinquish the land, America was denied each and every time. Military presence was necessary in order to facilitate a greater respect from Mexico and to also offer additional protection for the Americans residing in Texas at the time; it was not meant by any means to act as a threat towards the Mexican government. Provided these facts, it can be assumed that the Mexican War was not an exercise in American imperialism, but rather, was instigated by the increasing fear felt by the Mexican government due to the lack of power within their own boundaries; this fear was further perpetrated by the fact that Mexico owed America money but could not pay, Mexico stepped onto American soil and fired the first shots, and that the majority of residents residing in Texas were in fact American citizens. Knowing that the internal framework of the Mexican government was very unstable, Polk guarded the borders with troops in order to intimidate them into complying with Congress s request not to engage in war. Our society is increasingly encouraged to go green, to do our part in making the world a cleaner, more eco friendly place. Green marketing is one major strategy being used to promote such efforts, but is it effective? There is some debate about this concept, including the history of green marketing, the problems with green marketing so far, the effectiveness of marketing schemes like Sunchips and Toyota, and the strategies that could be used to increase the ability of green marketing. Other major corporations jumping on the green bandwagon include Hewlett Packard, which boasts its recycling efforts and energy efficiency, and Ben and Jerry s with its effort to Lick Global Warming and employ other eco conscious practices (Rottkamp 1). While these strategies have shed light on being friendly to our planet, the fact remains that the large portion of our population simply is not embracing it. One major problem as far as companies using green marketing and why it isn t working is that the relatively vague definition of green marketing leaves a lot of room for loopholes. Usually consists of dye adsorbed nanostructured metal oxide film served as a photoanode, a Pt coated counter electrode and liquid electrolyte injected between them [3]. According to the social learning theory, a punishment such as spanking should follow a non desirable behavior in an attempt to decrease the likelihood that it ever occurs again (Barry, 2012). For any punishment to be effective, parents should follow three basic principles: First, the punishment must be consistently used. That is, whenever the child act inappropriately, punishment must ensue. Letting a child get away from a punishment not only confuses the child, but might also act as a reward to the child and increase the likelihood that the bad bahavior happens again (Barry, 2012). Children of loving and caring parents are more likely to feel guilty when they misbehave, and are more willing to correct their wrongdoing to restore the relationship with their parents (Berk, 2012). In addition to these principles, the timing of punishment is also important it should occur immediately after the misdeed so the child can relate the punishment to their misbahavior (Barry, 2012). Chaelee Dalton Burnett Honors World Religions November 7 2014 The Evolving Relationship Between the U.S. Government and the Mormon Church In 1844, Joseph Smith, ecclesiastical leader of the Latter day Saints and presidential candidate, was murdered by an angry mob. This mob was fostered by the release of a newspaper questioning Smith s practices (including polygamy), qualifications, and intentions for his potential presidency. More than 150 years later, Mitt Romney, a member of the LDS Church, launched a presidential campaign and garnered forty two percent of the popular vote. Although these two candidates share a faith, their political roles and views are substantially different. This is representative of the significant changes in the relationship between the Mormon church and the U.S. government. A homegrown religion originating in the late 1820s, Mormonism arose as a rejection of the existing Christian sects and a return to what the Mormons considered to be pure Christianity. Similarly, the members believed their desire for a new kind of government stemmed from their disillusionment with what they believed was a corrupt government and a desire for the reestablishment of true American values and the original intent of the founding fathers. • 40. The Rise Of Witch-Hunting In 15th And 16th Century Europe The Rise of Witch Hunting in 15th and 16th Century Europe Following the Middle Ages, as the Renaissance and Reformation began across Europe, an intense fear of witches was provoked among citizens. Witches were characterized as individuals who were possessed by the Devil, and were believed to be threats to the order and wellbeing of society. Individuals accused of witchcraft endured trials that typically resulted in execution. Satanic worshipping was considered heresy, thus was these executions were considered justified. While witch hunting occurred throughout Europe, the most prevalent areas were regions of Germany, as well as other Protestant areas such as Switzerland, England, and Denmark. Although individuals were often persecuted as witches out of a fear of the unknown that sparked mass hysteria in the Renaissance, the desire for religious conformity to Christianity throughout the Reformation and the exploitation of fear as a means of political control also lead to an increase in persecutions throughout the 15th and 16th centuries. • 41. Emily Dickinson s Capitalization and Punctuation The poetry of Emily Dickinson is one of the most recognizable of the 19th century. Dickinson s poetry stands out because of its unconventional use of capitalization and punctuation. Her poems contain capitalized words which are not normally capitalized. Her poems are noted for the frequent use of the dash. Literary scholars have attempted to interpret Dickinson s unconventional capitalization and punctuation. Some believe that it was merely part of Dickinson s penmanship (Weisbuch 73). They therefore edit Dickinson s poetry and publish them in standardized form. Others believe that the capitalization and punctuation were a conscious effort on Dickinson s part. These scholars notice the little nuances of Dickinson s dashes, such as whether ... As demonstrated above, the word light is not capitalized. Furthermore, Dickinson also capitalizes words which are not nouns, as seen in lines 4 6 of He fumbles at your Soul . The word ethereal is an adjective, but Dickinson chooses to capitalize it. He stuns you by degrees Prepares your brittle Nature For the Ethereal Blow The capitalized words are the key words of the poem. They add weight to the lines, tipping the balance of the poetic rhythm. The reader is invited to ponder over their meaning and significance (Miller 59). The capitalization gives Dickinson s poems concreteness and symbolism (Miller 58). The reader s attention is drawn to these capitalized words. They form an image in the reader s mind. For example, in the first example, the capitalized words are Slant, Winter, Afternoons, Heft, Cathedral, and Tunes. These words alone evoke the image of a cold and lonely day which burdens the heart like the heavy and mournful tones of an organ. Just words Winter Afternoons carry sensations of frigidness, bleakness, and loneliness. Winter Afternoons set the scene and describe the mood (Porter 141). The words Ethereal Blow strike the reader as an oxymoron. Ethereal implies something light, delicate, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. The First System Of Law Enforcement When the first settlers came over from England, they didn t have a clue on how to survive or make their way in a new environment. To ensure their survival, they tried to use the information that they had learned in England to help them start their way, such as scavenging for food, collecting wood to build a shelter, and finding places to get fresh water. Over the decades, Americans and early settlers have copied English ways of living before changing them to fit their needs today, such as, spelling by removing the u from words like color, driving on the other side of the road and finding our own food style that doesn t consist of tea and scones. When the early, New England settlers came to America, they tried to set up their own ways of life that differed from the mother country of England. For example, in 1631, the first system of law enforcement was established. It was modeled after the British police structure, which incorporated the watch, constables, and sheriffs in a community based police organization. While colonists started settling into the New World, local ordinances had allowed for constables to be appointed. The townspeople of each town created an unpaid watch made up of six watchmen, one constable, and several volunteers who patrolled at night. This is what is written down in the National Law Enforcement Museum for the origin of the police, but in actuality, the police system was shaped and originated by slave patrols and night watches. Classical Hollywood Gavan Duffy TVF Media analysis assignment Classical Hollywood Cinema In the following essay I have been asked to write a 2000 word essay discussing the main characteristic features of the classical Hollywood narrative film. This is a style of clarity where the viewer should not be confused about space, time, events or characters motivations and although a number of classical narrative traditions have been modified, or even rejected, this unfussy style of making movies it is still very much alive today and remains the dominant way of telling the story so it reaches a wider audience. Cities already established In the East are presented to us as feminine and cultured places, contrasting with the wild west . In director John Fords The searchers(Ford,1956,US) we see the iconic John Wayne star in a celebration of the spirt that vanished with the taming of the American wilderness. This is an indication of the system of the East taking hold and our heros evidently have no more sunset to ride off into. In the classical Hollywood style of filmmaking, the mise en scene, which is essentially everything that the audience sees, depicts an external world that sticks to the norms of realism determinded by the conditions of the story. The film historian Susan Hayward insisted that shots, lighting, and colour must not draw attention to themselves any more than the editing, the mise en scene or sound (2). As regards to the cinematography, it must, in my opinion, be unobtrusive. The style itself suffers if the audience is reminded they are watching a film. On occasions when a film does include visual distortions, there is almost always a narrative justification. In John Hustons film noir masterpiece The Maltese Falcon (John Huston, 1941, US), the character of John Spade meets his nemisis and the image becomes blurry. This effect threatens to remind the audience they are viewing a film. However, this is narrative motivated as we find out John has been drugged and we are viewing the film ... • 44. The Suspense Of The Novel The Great Gatsby By F. Scott... The certainty with which the protagonist assumes her characters shows the intuitive desire by humans to be who they are not. At the opening of the novella, the protagonist watches the mistresses at the playhouse being fawned over by men, and decides she wants to experience it because her status in society stopped men from acting in such a way around her. Upon returning the next night and meeting Beauplaisir, Haywood writes: ...found a vast deal of pleasure in conversing with him in this free and unrestrained manner, (Haywood, 2798).. Haywood writes: ...she was so admirably skilled in the art of feigning, that she had the power of putting on almost what face she pleased, and knew so exactly how to form her behavior to the character she represented, (Haywood, 2805). By including this, Haywood is suggesting that the protagonist is able to change who she is without any detection, but that humans are capable of doing the same thing, and do so every day when they get dressed in the morning. The protagonist changes her behaviors and clothing in order to comply with that character, and even when she is playing herself, she is still dresses and acts in order to comply with the character expected of her. She is certain of every action she does, but also that every thing she does is necessary in order to fulfill what is expected of a character, even if that character is her. The protagonist s certainty of character modification, both in her actions and mindset, translate to society. Beauplaisir, who does not undergo any physical character changes, is certain in how is character acts depending on who he is around. The novella depicts Beauplaisir as a character who is able to manipulate himself and the conversation, depending on who he is with and the situation. This is seen first at the playhouse, when talking to the protagonist as the mistress. Haywood writes: ...he changed the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Reid Vs. Reid Essay It may seem implausible that someone would confess to a crime they did not commit, but it does happen, and the prevalence of such confessions occurs at a much higher rate in juvenile populations. Aggressive interrogation methods, like those used in the Reid Technique, lead to a greater probability of false confessions among juvenile subjects than if those techniques had not been used. In a study completed by University of San Francisco law professor and renowned false confession researcher, Richard Leo, 35% of the 125 proven false confession cases he sampled included confessors who were under the age of 18 (2004). Before we examine what it is about this technique that prompts false confessions, we must first outline the systematic, nine step process developed by John E. Reid Associates nearly forty years ago. The Reid Technique is the most widely adopted interrogation method used by branches of law enforcement, the military, government entities, as well as private enterprises. To say that it is the unchallenged gold standard would be an understatement, and understandably so. If the main goal of an interrogation is to win a confession from the accused, then there is no greater tool. According to Reid s own marketing propaganda, 95% Reid trained survey respondents indicated that their confession rate improved when using the Reid Technique. More than half of them stated that their confession rate increased by more than 25% and nearly a quarter of them said it increased by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Machiavelli Vs Obama Alexandria Sledd POLS 1102 Sunday, September 17, 2017 Machiavelli or Obama? In the early 1500s, Machiavelli wrote a book based off of Barak Obama. The prince is what some call him. Well, not quite. Machiavelli s book lays out a platform for what a prince, or in this case a president, should be like and what actions to take for his or her own country. Barack Obama has features about him that correlate with what Machiavelli states throughout his book. Machiavelli may not have been writing about Barrack, but maybe he helped shape Barrack Obama as a president. The way Barrack Obama acts on a daily basis, talks about certain issues, and his accomplishments throughout his presidency all coincide with what Machiavelli describes in his book The Prince. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Everyone knows that it is a fine thing for a prince to keep his word and to live with integrity rather than with cunning. But our recent experience has been that the princes who achieved great things haven t worried much about keeping their word. Knowing how to use cunning to outwit men, they have eventually overcome those who have behave honestly (Machiavelli, 37). An example of how Obama fooled the Americans was when he appointed Lawrence Summers and Timothy Geithner as his economic advisors. These two men are very strong supporters of financial deregulation; however, Obama made a statement about how he was appalled by the greed demonstrated on wall street. This is not only hypocritical, but it is exactly as Machiavelli would approve of as he states, A prudent lord, therefore, can t and shouldn t keep his word when that could be used against him and the reasons that led him to give it in the first place exist no longer. If men were entirely good this advice would be bad; but in fact they are dismally bad, and won t keep their promises to you, so you need not keep your promises to them. And a prince will never be short of legitimate reasons for not keeping his promises (Machiavelli, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
