4.0 Ratios Analysis
4.1 Earning per Share Ratio
A graph below represents Earning per Share ratio. EPS ratio is used when the company wants to
know how are they doing in their businesses from year to year. EPS is shown in pence. (Dyson,
2010) A year 2009 was not so profitable for company as EPS was 2,79p. This means that business
was making little money, which was not good for shareholders. However, in 2010 the EPS was
quite high, 14,76p, what means the company is making profit and shareholders want to invest in
business.
4.2 Quick Ratio
The Quick Ratio also known as Acid Ratio is used by firms to determine liquidity position. It
explains if the firm is able to pay all of their current debt liabilities. (Dyson, 2010) The graph
above illustrates that over the period from 2007 to 2011 quick ratio was not more that 1, which
means that their debts might not be covered all. The graph also indicates that a peak was in 2011.

The Birth Of Jesus s Life
26. The Birth of Jesus
Jesus s birth into the human world was believed to be nothing short of a miracle. A holy baby
blessed by God himself and was birthed from a pregnant mother who kept her virginity and
never corrupting her purity for the sake of God. The mother who would bring Jesus into the
living world is Mary and her soon to be husband Joseph. In preparation for this event, an angel
appeared in his dream to calm his mind and to reassure that this pregnancy is a gift from God and
that he shouldn t be afraid to take Mary as his wife. And when Jesus was born, he would be
proclaimed to be the savior of mankind from their sins. During this time would also be
remembered as Christmas and on this day, to celebrate the birth of Jesus the Savior and god s gift
of his son to prove that he loves his creations enough to be determined to save them from sin.
27. The 12 Disciples
In the story of the 12 Disciples, Jesus s closest friends were known as this group of people. Their
names were Andrew who was once a disciple of John the Baptist, Bartholomew who was blessed
by Jesus as a Jew without guile, James the Elder and James the Younger were sons of Zebedee,
John who wrote the books of John and Revelation, Judas who would be known as the betrayer,
Jude is the brother of James the Younger and the author of the book of Jude, Matthew the tax
collector, Peter who would become the leader of the disciples after Jesus s ascension into Heaven,

The New Concepts Of Expressionism
Neo Expressionism revived Australian landscape paintings through the reinterpretation of
traditional virtuosity and the rejection of minimalistic forms (Atkins 2013, 171) from the late
1960 s through to the early 90 s (Keylor 2007, 904). The new concepts of Expressionism was also
inspired by Surrealist themes from the Modernist period as well as mythology, culture, history and
the erotic (The Art Story, 2016). Two Australian artists who create a new perception of the
Australian landscapeby incorporating these techniques and ideas were Peter Booth and Brett
Whiteley. Booth s metamorphic Paintingtwo (1984) (appendix one), and apocalyptic Drawing
(Catastrophe with flying insects) (1984) (appendix two), are influenced and explorative of the
Australian landscape as well as incorporative of mythology, Surrealist dreams and subjective
imagery (Godfrey 2009, 61). Whiteley s Lavender Bay series of The Balcony 2 (1975) (appendix
three) and Big Orange (sunset) (1974) (appendix 4); are expressive of the infamous bay in Sydney,
connecting to the Australian landscape, however explorative of different perceptions on a classical
image. These two artists both lead astray from the minimalistic techniques of this time, by exploring
the Australian landscape through innovative ways of expressive painting.
Peter Booth s Painting two bombards the viewer with an arduous stark yellow, connecting to the
Heidelberg school paintings of highlighting the golden scenery (Smith, Smith and Heathcote

Homeland Security Vs Homeland Security
Much has been discussed about homeland security and homeland defense regarding their
differences and similarities, but regardless of how the two are related, the fact remains that they
both serve the purpose of protecting and defending America, making our citizens safe, and to
protect the integrity of our infrastructure, rendering our nation a safe place to live and build family
traditions. The ultimate purpose of both Homeland Defense and Homeland Securityis to protect,
defend, and assist with the safety and security of the citizens of the United States. One purpose
specifically caters to the protection of our citizens in land and the other focuses on the protection of
citizens from overseas.
Homeland Defense operates within the United States and outside the United States to provide
critical protection to the country against terrorism. Homeland defense is the task the military is
handed outside of the United States. For the purpose of defending and protecting our nation, the
reason why military personnel are sent all over the world to fight radical extremists who pose a
threat to our nation. They also monitor any other entity who can potentially become a threat to our
country.
Homeland defense represents the protection of our territory, population, and critical infrastructure
by deterring and defending against foreign and domestic threats, supporting civil authorities for
crisis and consequence management, and helping to ensure the continuance of critical national
assets (Department of the Army 1999, 1). (Noftsinger, 2007)
The Department of Defense main objective is to provide the military forces necessary to protect
the security of our country. To protect our natural resources, installations, and facilities by
discouraging and preventing acts of terror against the American public. To support the overall
mission by fighting radical extremist who plan and carry out attacks on American soil claiming the
lives of innocent citizens. Our military servicemembers operate from overseas and within our states
protecting our borders, skies, ports, and shores from terrorist who wish to plant fear and create
chaos in our nation.

Picture Bride Essay
Immigrants arriving in America for their first time are initially devastated at their new lives and
realize their golden lives were simply fantasies and dreams of an ideal life in America. Immigrants
from foreign countries, including those mentioned in Uchida s Picture Bride, faced countless
problems and hardships, including a sense of disillusionment and disappointment. Furthermore,
immigrants and picture brides faced racial discrimination not only from white men, but the United
States government, as well. Immigrants were plagued with economic hardships lived in deplorable
living conditions. Though nearly every immigrant and picture bride who came to America
fantasized about an ideal life, they were faced with countless hardships and... Show more content on

It was drab and dirty and smelled of stale food...[one] would expect something a bit finer (Uchida,
34). Hana becomes disheartened as her visions were shattered by reality and a sense of betrayal
from her husband s lies. She, like many picture brides and immigrants, expected too much of a new
life, and when she discovers the way things really are, she feels deceived and dismayed. Accepting
the truth and the reality of their new lives is a part of an immigrant s experience in moving to
America and is a crucial part in shaping their attitudes in their new lives.
Once an immigrant becomes situated with their new life styles, the foreign immigrants are
introduced to a sense of hatred and discrimination omnipresent in society. Many Americans and
white men were not welcoming towards alien immigrants and expressed a great deal of
discrimination and hatred. Immigrants and their families realized they had to learn to accept this
hatred if they wanted to live in America, and eventually taught themselves to be tolerant towards
discrimination, without knowing a motif behind a white man s disgust towards immigrants. Hana
was able to accept the discrimination and eventually passed down her tolerance and acceptance
down to, her daughter, Mary, who learn to submit to a white man s intolerance. Mary became

U.s. Foreign Policy Approaches
The United States (U.S.) uses two approaches to their foreign policy. The first approach is
realism. This viewpoint stresses that the principal actors, states, will pursue their own interests in
an anarchical world. States will try to establish a balance of power that restrains aggressive states
from dominating weaker ones. The second approach is idealism. This view stresses that states
should transform the system into a new international order where peace can prevail. This approach
emphases the spread of democracy across the world and the creation of international institutions.
Realism and idealism provides an explanation to how U.S. foreign policy has developed since
World War Two (WWII), identifies which influential factors play a role in both foreign policy
approaches, and determines which view has best served the pursuit of national interests. The realist
and idealist approaches are important in explaining the swinging pendulum path American foreign
policy took since WWII. Over the past seventy years, U.S. foreign policy switches between these
two approaches. After WWII ended, idealistic U.S. policymakers believed that cooperation between
the United Statesand Soviet Unionwould transform the world to a more cooperative and peaceful
one. This idealistic belief was quickly demolished by the Soviet expansions in Turkey and Greece
and the destruction of the hopes of U.S. Soviet cooperation after WWII. So, U.S. policymakers
switched to a realist approach in a

What Role Did The Greek Gods Play In The Story Of The Morphed
The myths of Achilles are well known, and are mentioned in modern society. But, they have been
morphed to society s desires. This is demonstrated in the movie Troy, where the stories have been
changed for modern audience. The director condensed the story, and changed the story to show
some romanticism and love. This is shown from the absence of the greek gods, significance of
certain characters, inaccurate information, the morphed traits of certain characters, and the
falsehood of romantic presence. In greek society the gods played a great role in the Trojan war,
which was not mentioned in the movie.
The movies depth is quite shallow, as the gods had great significance in the legend of Achillesand
the Trojan War. The movie fails to mention the presence of gods, that influence the decisions of
characters in the Trojan war. This is due to the belief that gods are non existant in modern society.
Which completely contradicts the greek belief system where gods create our fate and influence
our decisions. The greek society was so dependent on the gods that the very success of a human or
a battle depended on the influence of the gods. The only god that was present in the movie is
Achilles s mother Thetis. Thetis had more significance in the war than the movie depicted, calming
Achilles every time he got overwhelmed with anger. The movie fails to mentionthat Appolo guided
Paris s arrow into Achilles vulnerable spot, the ankle. Or that Aphrodite saved Paris s life against

overarching goal: Evergreen business success. It can be used as practical management tools which
assures the firm s profitability sustainability. It is primarily intended for strategy formulation or
validation, redefining of existing strategies to make sure it s successful. The formula can be highly
effective to entrepreneurs decision makers at all levels and in all functions of an organization
anyone who is struggling to make choice among multiple options. This vital decision is what turns
the company from a nonprofit into a moneymaking endeavor in long run, whether across growing
or declining market environment. Formula given will be relevant across industries like Automotive;

Pharma; Retail, and Textiles, but not limited to. Although this qualitative research addressed a
major limitation of past studies, that being the lack of explicating the relationship/critical link
between all major variables, it does not consider these factors in an empirical contextual, rather
provided as a conceptual umbrella . But this is an excellent base from which subsequent research
will be undertaken on validation of these relationships in diverse environmental contexts. We would
also summarize key trends, challenges/opportunities, and illustrates how this formula is applicable,

Visalia-Personal Narrative
Once upon a time, in a land not so far away. By that I mean about an hour or two drive from
visalia. When I was eight and my brother four. We had gone tobogganing with our family. The
snow was glistening white and quite untouched by any other people for there was no lemon
flavored snow. As we had began or first ride down the hill with my brother in front of my father
and I behind my father slid down the slope quite fast to my enjoyment. After we had reached the
bottom of the hill my little brother jumped up and announced that it was the best ride he had ever
been on. I smiled and turned to dad much to my shock. For he was covered in snowas if he had just
scaled a mountain in a blizzard. And much to my surprise my little brother was untouched.

Being a transformational leader is great because they are visionaries and motivators. However,
the downside to being such a leader can lead to some disadvantages along the way which can go
wrong. Some situations under this leadership style can quickly change to actions where decisions
can be made abruptly out of emotions. Typically abrupt decisions can be detrimental to the people
and can also result in negative implications. Another weakness of this leadership style is
employees being burned out. Employees can easily become inspired and hopeful to attain goals
under transformational leadership but can feel the disadvantage when they are made to work long

The Portrait Of Marie Antoinette
The artwork I decided to do my research and write about is the portrait of Marie Antoinette with
her Children. I found this portrait very interested in me; I am going to give you a brief
information on the artist of the artwork. This portrait was by Elisabeth Louise Vigee Lerun and the
portrait is oil on canvas, 9 ВЅ x 7 5/8 . The portrait was created in 1700 in France. It s a portrait of a
French queen who is Marie Antoinettealong with her children as a good mother to her children,
but there is no sign of the father in the portrait. The portrait is a loving mother of four children,
but only three are shown in the portrait because of the children deceased. Also I see the portrait
of a single mother who is a loving mother who love her children daily and have a space of
emptiness because of the loss of her child who processed into his death at 11 months old.
The artist of the portrait is Elisabeth Vigee Lebrun. She was born in Paris on April 16, 1755. She
was the daughter of Louis Vigee who was a pastel painter of moderate talent and devoted to his
artwork. When Elisabeth turned eleven her education was considered complete, she then left
school for good to return home to her parents and to pursue her dream as a painter like her father.
While back at home with her parents, she spend many of her hours in her father s studio
experimenting to her heart s content with his crayons, and dutifully accompanied her mother, who,
we are told, was good to the point of austerity,

have to do your home work and hit the ground running so that you can get recognized then you let
your products and good customer service do the rest (Davison 2006). The essential components are
the needs of the customer, pricing, and value creation proposition, marketing niche and product

are low fixed costs, control over costs and location .An opportunity has been screened for exporting
of compact exercising equipment to other countries the venture is promising. New business
processes along with new technology will provide exercising equipment to small gyms in many
places abroad.
The economics of this venture is low capital and free cash flow this venture will break even in

having a bilingual team within two years of the venture.
Good customer service will set my company apart from the strategic differentiation of my

The Business Problems Facing Google
1.What do you think are the TWO main business problems facing Google in this case? Provide
support for the assertions you just made.
Competition is one of the main business problems Google is facing. With its abundance of products
and services, Google encounters competition from companies that belong to different industries.
New disruptive technologies in addition to rapid change are just some of the characteristics of those
industries.
Google s competitive landscape includes companies that connect people with information and
related advertising on the web. One of them is Yahoo! that competes with Google in search and
paid listings. Some of the products created by Yahoo! are direct rivals to Google s Local Search,
Home Page, Froogle, Gmail, Maps, and Picasa applications. In the industry of e commerce,
Google is facing competition from eBay. Both Google Checkout and eBay s PayPal offer checkout
services to third party retailers.
Along with competition, Google is facing a lot of legal problems. Advertisers, news publishers,
and users complained about the performance of Google s core business. For instance, in 2004
Geico sued Google for showing competitors ads when users searched for Geico. Google News also
went under attack when online news publishers repeatedly complained that Google used their
content without permission. The company has also been accused of damaging acts towards privacy
of its users.

Persuasive Essay On World Hunger
World hunger is on the rise since the turn of the century. Many people overlook world hunger
because there are many organizations supporting the cause. Awareness has been brought towards
the cause but surprisingly the number still keeps going up. In 2016, the number of chronically
undernourished people reached 815 million, up 38 million from the previous year (McVeigh, K).
Having 11% of the world s population be undernourished is a serious problem that many people are
not aware of. Even though there is a campaign to end world hungerby 2030 it will be impossible to
achieve if people don t start to help. UNICEF has recognized this and has launched it s own
world hunger campaign that has inspired many to make a difference. There are 795 million
people in the world that do not posses the nutritional necessities to live a healthy life (World
Hunger Statistics). Furthermore, one in seven people on Earth are hungry. It is just not hunger
that affects so many people in the world, but also lack of clean water. UNICEF understands this
issue and has conducted its own research. In 2012 it was estimated by UNICEF that alone 6.6
million children under the age of five died that year from preventable causes (EVERY CHILD
COUNTS). That is like losing the entire population of Los Angeles and Chicago combined. Of
those 6.6 million children, nearly 45% died of poor nutrition. That is close to three million children.
WFP (World Food Programme) estimated that it takes about $3.2 billion

Research Paper On Abolishment Of Slavery
Often times in America, land of the free, diversity is celebrated in order to create peace between
cultures and establish a safe area where people will be judged for who they are rather than by
the color of their skin. This idea of a picture perfect world may never exist however, based on the
fact that diversity seems to create conflict a lot more often than resolve. All cultural conflicts spark
from the shared roots of oppression and varying beliefs.
The oppression of entire cultures lead to one the most most hated practices in America. For many
years slavery oppressed minorities within the U.S. Looking back, there is no way to defend the
ethical malpractice that is slavery, therefore it was abolished. However the abolishment of slavery
lead to one a the scariest American based cultural conflicts. For a large portion of white people in
the USA from 1776 1864 slavery was a simple way to feed the corrupt monster within known as

new incoming beliefs and traditions it is more important than ever that cultures stick strong to their
core beliefs and values if they wish to not be overcome. A chinese proverb states that, No matter
how the wind howls, the mountain will never bow. The problem in today s society, however, is that
each culture is the wind and the mountain they cannot learn to understand how their culture fits in
the world. Without learning to coexist in harmony with other cultures world peace will never be
achieved, and conflicts will continue to arise from oppression and varying

Assassination Of Gandhi Research Paper
Assassination of Gandhi Bang! Bang! Bang! was the sound heard around the world. Gandhi was
the preeminent leader of the Indian independence movement in British ruled India. Gandhi was
killed by Nathuram Godse by a firearm which fired 3 shots at Gandhi.(Vaidya 1) The
assassination of Mahatma Gandhi was unjust because he was an anti war for freedom of India
from British rule, and nathuram godse jealousy; However others believe that he was killed
because the power and motivation he had to others. First reason Gandhi was killed, was for
being an anti war activist for freedom of british rule. India was under British from the 18th
century to 1947. Gandhi had a defiant march to the sea in protest of the British monopoly on
salt, his boldest act of civil disobedience yet against British rule in India (history.com 1). People
would of wanted to kill gandhi because he was getting in the way of Britain keeping control of
India. Therefore killing Gandhi in theory would of slowed India s Independence, but by the time
Gandhi was killed India was no longer in control of India. So what was the real reason they
killed gandhi because he was too powerful. When a person is too powerful society thinks thats

Human Trafficking And Sex Trafficking
A challenge that I took interest in is the horrifying problem that women and young girls face as
victims of human trafficking and sex slavery. Women and young girls make up 98% of victims of
trafficking for exploitation. Human trafficking and sex slavery is a form of modern slavery, in
which traffickers profit from the control and exploitation of others. It is a multi billion industry.
Traffickers use control of others for the purpose of engaging in sexual activities and or forcing
others to provide labor services against their will. Traffickers use many manipulative tactics to trap
their victims in horrific situations such as using violence, threats, deception, and bondage.
More women and girls are transported into brothels yearly, in the 21st century, than African slaves
were shipped into slave plantations each year in the 18th century. In the United States, sex
trafficking commonly occurs in online escort services, residential brothel, brothels that may be
disguised as businesses, and in street prostitution.
High profits and low risks are the two primary factors that drive the spread of human trafficking. It
is a market driven criminal industry that is based on the principal of supply and demand.
Traffickers generate billion of dollars in profits each year. Traffickers can be lone individuals or
extensive criminal networks. Pimps, gangs, family members, labor brokers, employers of domestic
servants, small business owners, and large factory owners have all been found

Shelmes And Watson Comparison
The stories of Sherlock Holmes provide us with two fictional characters that are virtually polar
opposites: Holmes and Watson. Holmes is the observant, deceptive, know it all detective, and
Watson is his somewhat unobservant, quiet, and intelligent assistant. Many may discover that
one of the two are somewhat relatable. In my case, that relatable character would be Watson.
Therefore, my personality and actions are more similar to Watson s than they are to Holmes s. I
am more like Watson considering as I am a loyal companion, I have emotions, and I accept that I
do not know everything. One way that I am similar to Watson is that I have been a loyal comrade
to several people. The prime example of this would be his submissive actions in... Show more

This reveals that Watson has been absorbed in his marriage, which is an union full of emotion
and care, while Holmes does drugs and sits in his office chasing down criminals. I myself am
rather sensitive and feel many different emotions. I also put people before profession when I
left school early to visit my father and grandmother (at different times) when they were in the
hospital. Their lives are more important. To put family over profession is to put love over greed,
and I believe that I do that well. Watson, like me, does not become upset when reminded that
there are many concepts that he does not know or observe. He is reminded of this by Holmes in
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle. I can see nothing, said I, handing it back to my friend. On
the contrary, Watson, you can see everything. You fail, however, to reason from what you see. You
are too timid in drawing inferences. Then pray, tell me, what is it that you can infer from this hat?
(Doyle 2).This shows Watson being reminded that he is not all knowing and not lashing out. He
takes it, knowing it is true. Although I am a terrible perfectionist, I understand that I am far from
perfect and all knowing. I, too, am well aware of my own ignorance and the ignorance of

Ethnography Of The Blue House
Ethnography of the Blue House : Plano Day Labor Center While making the drive on my way to
school, my father decides to take a short detour to go pay his worker. It is early in the morning
and still very grey outside which facilitated my usual slumber. This detour meant nothing more
to me than simply that of a detour, but it wasn t until I was suddenly awaken by the car being
strangely rocked like that of a small raft in the sea. Being nearly eight years old, I m instantly on
high alert and very confused. There is a man in the passenger seat saying hello to me as my dad
pays him for a honest day s worth in a moving job the day before, but surrounding the car are
about 25 men eagerly trying to speak with my father. Not only was my early morning routine
nap disrupted, I truly believed I woke up to a nightmare. As we drove away, my dad laughed
telling me to say goodbye to the blue house. After this experience, I simply stated to my dad that
I would never return to this place ever again. I was legitimately horrified and pledged to never
return. As a kid, I could simply decide to ignore and choose to not care for what I had witnessed,
but as I grew up, curiosity and acquired knowledge promoted awareness. I simply became
intrigued, and decided to confront a childhood fear. I was not expecting for this fear to then
transform into compassion, but while gaining exceedingly more information, I have grown a
profound interest that I believe needs to be exposed to in our society.

Maximus as the Hero in Ridley Scott s Gladiator Essay
Maximus as the Hero in Ridley Scott s Gladiator
Ridley Scott s gladiator recreates the entire world of ancient Rome in living glory on the screen.
The shots of coliseum, intact and swarming with crowds of spectators are breath taking. The story
has a classic three act structure, moving Maximus, Decimus and Meridius from warrior to slave to
gladiator and each step is incredibly exciting. In addition, Scott stages half a dozen elaborate action
sequences like there s no tomorrow, pulling out all the stops, and filling the screen with swords,
tigers and chariots. The brilliant imagery of director really jumps of the screen, making this an
Oscar winning motion picture. The ample Digital effects makes ... Show more content on

The second camera shot I have chosen is when there is a close up on Maximum s face which is
looking at the robin. The robin demonstrates us Maximus s love for nature which proves that he
freedom fighter. The third scene I have selected is when Maximus is walking down his army and
every one is greeting him. This demonstrates us that maximus has a high reputation and is
someone who is looked up to. This also illustrates the love and affection for maximus from his
soldiers and even by animals as the dog was following him when the war was about to begin. The
last scene I have chosen is when there is a slow motion when the Romans had won the war. This
connotes the supremacy and authority they had during these times.
The main character of this motion picture is Maximus. Throughout the film, the audience sees his
loving character, his love for Rome and his fellow Gladiators, and love for his wife and kid.
Secondly, Maximus is physically strong and this enables him to win every battle he fights in. The
actor Russell Crowe developed a muscle physique and especially in the violent combat scenes
director Ridley Scott uses close ups of his muscular body. By doing this he ensures we link
Maximus with strength and agility. Because of this, he is seen as the hero. Maximus always played

Essay on Till We Have Faces and The Vision of Ungit
Till We Have Faces and The Vision of Ungit
Queen Orual of Glome, the main character in C.S. Lewis s Till We Have Faces is often the
victim of mysterious visions that appear to relate to her real life experiences. In one of her final
visions, Queen Orual dreams that she is Ungit, an all consuming goddess who is worshipped by
the people of Glome. Orual definitely is Ungit; she has several characteristics that give evidence
of this. Orual is all consuming and possessive in her relationships with other people; she wears a
veil to cover her ugly face, giving her a resemblance to the forbidding goddess; she is very
demanding of her servants, which is similar to the intense rituals and sacrifices that Ungit demands.

Orual is not pleased with this negative portrayal of herself, but she has to admit that her ambitions
took precedence over Bardia s personal needs. Orual writes, Heaven knows how we had tormented
him, Ansit and I. For it needs no Oedipus to guess that many and many a night, her jealousy of me
welcomed him home to a bitter hearth (202).
Orual believes that the veil she wears to hide her ugly face is one of her strengths. The veil
creates a mysterious aura that grows with each passing year. The more the memory of the Queen
s face fades, the wilder the stories about what her veil contains become. The resemblance to a
mysterious and unfathomable goddess is unmistakable. Orual writes, no one believed it was
anything so common as the face of an ugly woman. Some said it was frightful beyond
endurance; a pig s, bear s, cat s, or elephant s face. The best story was that I had no face at all; if
you stripped off my veil you would find emptiness. The upshot of all this was that I became
something mysterious and awful. I have seen ambassadors turn white like scared children when I
faced them (172).
There are several rituals that the citizens of Glome follow when they are paying homage to
Ungit. They have to keep girls in her house, brides have to give her gifts, and in a bad year
someone s throat is cut and blood is poured over the stone goddess (6).

The Angolan Government
The Corruption of the Angolan Government
Imagine if you, living in the United States, lacked basic healthcare, and a basic education. Though
this may sound absurd to many, it is a reality for most of Angolan citizens. Angola is an African
nation located on the South west coast of Africa. Angolais North of Namibia, West of Zambia, and
South of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Angola s government type is a unitary state. In a
unitary government, the power is held by one central authority, but in a federal government, such
as: the United States, Canada and Australia, the power is divided between national (federal) and
local (state) governments. The president of Angola, Jose Dos Santos, has not focused on the
healthcare or education of his country s citizens throughout his 36 years in power. Dos Santos has
lead Angola through a brutal civil war that ended in 2002. It does not take much work to make

Chapter Summary For Killer Angels
KILLER ANGELS
AUTHOR: MICHAEL SHAARA
Set in the American Civil War, Killer Angels gives the viewpoints of four Generals (Generals Lee
Longstreet from the South and Generals Chamberlain Buford from the Union) as they fight through
the battle of Gettysburg.
The year is 1863. The American Civil Warhas dragged on for over two years. For most of the war
the South has been playing defense in their own background, using maneuvers and tactics to gain
impressive victories over the far superior Union Army. General Meade has been thrust into
command of the Army of the Potomac. President Lincoln faces heat in Washington and his
reelection is in doubt. The time is now for General Lee and the Army of Northern Virginia to go on

He attempts to gather all his divisions together and begin his offensive campaign against
General Meade s armies. On the Union side, General Buford engages Lee s forces until dusk in
order to hold off their advances and allow his men to keep the high ground and gain a strategic
advantage. It appears that Lee has gained a major victory at this point since Buford ran to the
hills . Day two dawns with General Longstreet trying to convince Lee that the Army of Northern
Virginia is not built to go on the offensive and that a full on assault campaign will ruin the Army.
Lee pays no heed. General Chamberlain and his Maine Men are the end of the Union Line and
successfully holds off a far superior Confederate assault and keep the high ground. On the third
and final day of the battle, General Lee commits the greatest folly of his illustrious career. Again
dismissing the pleas of Longstreet, Lee sends General Pickett and his division across an open
field to attack the Union position. To this day, military historians are unsure why Lee sent Picket
on this suicide mission. Pickett s Charge led to catastrophic losses for the Confederate Army and
a shocked General Lee was forced to call retreat. Thus ended the bloodiest battle of the American
Civil War and effectively ended the war for all intents and purposes (although the war would rage
on for another year and a half). The Army of Northern Virginia would never again make a serious
venture into the Northern

The Effect Of Recasts And Prompts On Francophone Learners
Regarding output, Corrective Feedback (CF) caters chance for learners to improve their
interlanguage when interlocutors provide correct input (recast) or attempt eliciting the correct
output from learners (prompt). Ammar and Spada (2006) conducted research to compare the
effectiveness of recasts and prompts on Francophone learners of English at different levels. The
study focused on the third person possessive determiners (his and her) which are problematic to
French native speakers. After being instructed the rule and through some practices, learners would
be given either recasts or prompts to errors regarding his and her, or no CF in the control group.
Participants were assessed three times: pre test, immediate post test and delayed post test. The
researchers discovered that instruction and exposure plus CF are more effective than those without
CF. No technique is better than the other since prompts are more effective than recasts for lower
proficiency students while high proficiency students benefit from both equally. Although the study
only focused on the binary forms (either his or her), it suggested that prompts be applied more to
improve lower level learners performance. Interaction is a two way communication under the
sociocultural theory promoting consciousness. From Swain and Lapkin s (1998) study of two

The False Validity Of The Chemical Imbalance Myth
Americans should be more aware of the false validity of the Chemical Imbalance Myth in our
society today because of the immense usage of Antidepressants and the negative consequences they
have on our physical and emotional health. The writers goal in writing this paper is not to say that
mental illnesses are not real, rather, to point out some of the myths and traditions that are related to
depression. We as a people tend to confuse normal emotions with clinical depression, in which they
are prescribed antidepressants to make them feel better. The myth focused on in this paper is the
Chemical Imbalance theory, which has been adopted by our society for years. The number of
people in America that are currently on antidepressantmedications is alarming and this issue must
be addressed. A mistake that many well meaning American s make is taking pills when those pills

Six Sigma And Total Quality Management
Abstract
This paper is an analysis of the three published journals on Six Sigma model. This literature review
discusses about the different parameters which are used in implementing a successful Six Sigma
methodology. Kamran Moosaa* and Ali Sajidb (2010) made a study on critical analysis of Six
Sigma implementation. Six Sigma is known as a method, metric or a programme. It follows a
DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improvement, and Control) process. The other articles state
that how teamwork and process management are beneficial for Six Sigma implementation in an
organization. Hence, this literature review evaluates that Six Sigma is better in pursuing
continuous improvement in customer satisfaction, increasing profits, and in overall business
strategy when compared to other Total Quality Management tools.
Comparison between Six Sigma and Total Quality Management tools
Have really Six Sigma took a place over other Total Quality Management tools in continuous
improvement of all processes in an organizations? Six Sigma has become a popular methodology
ever since it was first introduced by Motorola in the US during the 1980s (Kamran Moosaa* and
Ali Sajidb, 2010). It started gaining popularity once case studies from companies like Motorola,
GE, and Allied Signals started spreading across the globe. In a short span of time, Six Sigma
found its place amongst the CEOs and quality managers of companies in the late 1990s. Six Sigma

Summary Of 1950 V. Gordon Childe
In 1950, V. Gordon Childe had an article titled The Urban Revolution published in The Town
Planning Review. In this article, Childe wrote about ten characteristics that he defined as central to
the formation of a civilization. Later, these would later be separated into five primary and five
secondary characteristics by Charles Redman of Arizona State University. These characteristics are
considered by (Childe 1950:16) to have exhaust(ed) the factors common to the oldest cities.
Simplified by (Price and Feinman 2013) they include, dense populations (cities), full time
specialized labor, organization of the state, social stratification, concentrations of surplus,
monumental public works, long distance exchange or trade, writing systems,... Show more content

Using the term road is perhaps a bit of an overstatement, typically the road was little more than a
well beaten path and they generally were narrow, ranging from three to fifty two feet wide at
any given point (Price and Feinman 2013:409). These roads also covered vastly different terrain,
roads were present at both the top of the Andes Mountain range, and also on the coast of what is
now Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina (Karam 2001). It is unclear whether the Inca forged every path
entirely on their own, or if they simply acquired them through conquest of other natives. According
to (Karam 2001:355 357) one thing is certain however, and that is that the Inca were the ones to
assemble the roads into a single network and subsequently maintained them. The Tampu were
perhaps the most important administrative institution created by the Inca alone and they would
certainly be considered innovative by any European society of the same era. Not only did they
serve practical purposes for government functions, but they were also symbolic of Inca dominance
in the region. Tampu were way stations spaced about a day s walk between themselves and were
home to storehouses, barracks, and official government records. Inca subject populations located
nearest to a Tampu were responsible for keeping it stocked with food so that royal

Eating Food That Dies
Real food is alive and therefore it should eventually die (Food Rules: An Eater s Manual 29).
Foods with seemingly infinite shelf lives continue to reach Americans stomachs more frequently
than ever before. Their impact on modern day America causes devastating health issues and
diseases. Current heart disease, cancer, obesity, and diabetes rates have been drastically increasing
since World War II (In Defense of Food22). Today s society fails to embrace the lost art of dining.
Food manufacturers focus on the convenience of consumption and storage rather than the natural
nutritional value of food. In an age when processed food consumption continues to escalate, and
chronic diseases follow suit, current trends imply that natural,... Show more content on

Fast food restaurants in particular promote nourishing and nutritious dishes without mentioning the
overwhelming amount of sodium, calories, and fat in each dish.
With many families involved in numerous extra curricular activities, fast food has become a
staple in today s society. Olive Garden, one of America s most famous Italian restaurants,
advertises fresh, delicious Italian food ( Who We Are ). While they may be delicious, many
dishes at Olive Garden will not provide any health benefit for the consumer (Barnhart). Many of
the dishes served, including the Chicken Alfredo Pizza, Tour of Italy, and Steak Gorgonzola
Alfredo, have about 1,350 calories and 60 grams of fat each (Barnhart). With a suggested daily
caloric intake of 2000 and daily fat intake of 65 grams by the Food and Drug Administration,
each dish possesses over half a day s worth of calories and nearly an entire day s worth of fat
(Barnhart). The Chicken Alfredo Pizza alone contains 3,200 milligrams of sodium, over twice the
daily recommendation (Barnhart). Often misleading, many fast food restaurants sell healthy salads
no better than their burgers. A McDonald s Caesar salad without chicken or dressing contains 90
calories, 4 grams of fat, and 180 milligrams of sodium ( McDonald s Nutrition Facts Calorie

Characterization In A Classic Novel Essay
Characterization in a Classic Novel
Mary Shelly s Frankenstein is the story of a scientist, Victor Frankenstein, and his quest to create
life from death. Frankenstein s experiment goes dreadfully wrong and he is forced to flee from the
monster he created. Throughout this novel, Frankenstein is characterized by his extreme
intelligence, skepticism and withdrawn behavior, and remorse.
In the beginning of this novel, it is clearly stated that Victor has a love for knowledge. It was the
secrets of heaven and earth that I desired to learn; and whether it was the outward nature and the
mysterious soul of man that occupies me, still my inquiries were directed to the metaphysical, or ...

is so anxious that even he, ... grew alarmed at the wreck that I perceived that I had become, (55).
As soon as Frankenstein s monster comes to life, ... horror and disgust filled his heart, (56). After
running from the monster for years, Frankenstein realizes that his monster has been killing people
close to him. Frankenstein immediately takes the blame for the deaths and will do anything to
stop the monster s actions. Victor reluctantly agrees to make a female companion for his monster.
He begins to create another monster but destroys her because he can not bear the thought of,
setting loose upon the earth a demon whose delight is in death and wretchedness, (160). Victor
chases the monster for years in hopes that he will end the monster s life in retribution for killing
his loved ones. He never catches the monster and the rest of Victor s life is lived with
overwhelming feelings of remorse. It was his creation that killed his brother, best friend, wife, and
lead to the death of his father.
Victor s characteristics are vital to this novel. It is because of Victor Frankenstein s intelligence,

June, 2014 House Majority leader Eric Cantor would lose his bid for re election to a relatively
underwhelming opponent Dave Brat a Tea Party backed economics professor. This primary upset
(Martin, June 2014) is considered one of the biggest upsets in political history. Cantor who had
raised roughly 5.4 million dollars in campaign funds found himself down by eleven percent to Brat
who had only been able to raise roughly two hundred thousand for his own campaign. While Cantor
continuously criticized Brat for being soft on immigration and contending that he supported what
critics call amnesty for immigrants in the country illegally found little support from the constituents

been lacking throughout Cantor s career is loyalty among his constituents (Caldwell, Diamond,
2014) Brat ran on an anti establishment platform criticizing Eric Cantor for his position on illegal
immigration, government bailouts and budget deals while commonly referring to God and the U.S.
Constitution in his speeches. This is one of the many reason that Brat succeeds over Cantor he
knew his constituents, and their back ground seeing that the 7th district of Virginia was

Because the fears of repressive governments exists throughout every society, some more than
others, the themes in the novel become not so distant. Reformation of violence is suppression of
of free will in that it aims to limit the choices we make to fall within what is accepted. In this
extreme form of social control, Alex is reformed to act as a civilized human. Violence, as a form of
rebellion, represents the ongoing struggle that youth, as a whole, deals with in order to fight against
the super powers, that aim to control them.

Brian Snare Analysis
The intricate universe of mergers is often a chaotic endeavor for many musicians, one where few
artists have found success unless that artist s name is Brian Eno. But let it be a pair of Canadian
producers to subvert this notion. A master at exercising the dichotomy between electronic
intelligentsia and the dark confines of breakcore, Venetian Snares (Aaron Funk) teams up with
prolific producer Daniel Lanois, whose name is attached to projects like U2 s The Joshua Tree and
Brian Eno s Apollo Atmospheres Soundtracks. As two preeminent musical minds come together to
bounce ideas off one another, Venetian Snares and Daniel Lanois self titled project witnesses the
duo pulling in their respective sonic backgrounds to devise contemporary terrains of sound while

According to the article Emotional Detachment in Relationships, by Michael Schreiner, emotional
detachment is more common among males than women where a man tends to shut down, stop
talking and distance himself when there is a difficult conflict situation going on with no resolution
in sight. One way to get through this emotional detachment is to not poke or prod your partner to
force them to become emotionally attached, but rather give them some space and time to let things
calm down. Poking and prodding has been found to have an adverse effect on what you are trying
to accomplish. Physical disconnect ranks high as one of the reasons why relationships fail as well.
Your significant other is sexually dissatisfied and instead of dealing with the issue with their mate,
they are tempted to wander and go outside the relationship to satisfy those urges. One solution to
conquer and overcome this issue is to establish an open line of communication so that your partner
can be aware of your wants and desires and hopefully help in fulfilling them for you.
In addition, relationships often fail because either one or both partners are not being honest with
themselves, their mate or with the relationship as a whole. A lot of times people get involved with
one another and assume that what they want and desire out of a relationship is the same thing that
their partner wants as well. This could be anything from wanting to be in a monogamous
relationship and not knowing that the

Lustre Jug Analysis
Formal Analysis of a Lustre Jug Dated to 1185, the lustre jug is made of glazed terracotta by an
unknown artist. Despite its age, the jug is remarkably whole, missing only a small fragment on
its rim. In order to view all its designs, viewers would have to observe the jug from multiple
angles. This essay will analyse how the artist used lines, shape, and colour to explore the
dichotomy of containment and stasis in contrast to energy and movement. The jug has a limited
but warm colour palette of mostly brown and white, which imbues it with a dignified and
understated elegance. Despite its restrained earthy colours that suggest stability, the use of spirals
and kinaesthetic imagery evokes the ideas of energy and movement. Upon closer observation,
viewers notice that the lustre of the jug has cracked in several places and acquired different hues
in other spots, probably due to age. Such subtle changes in colour, in addition to its glossy surface,
slightly dramatize the muted main colours of the jug. This adds to a feeling of dynamism that
paradoxically emanates from a stationary object.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It appears rather squat, with a large horizontally bulging middle. The jug is symmetrical,
composed of a vertical axis that runs downwards along the handle from the neck to its base.
However, the middle portion of the jug has a horizontal pattern that disrupts the harmony of its
symmetric shape. This dissonance between the volumetric and exterior properties of the jug
instils it with a semblance of volatility, diminishing the sense of balance achieved by its
symmetrical shape. Viewers would also notice that the jug s interior is glazed along its rim. The
artist may have done so deliberately to make the jug more aesthetically appealing when viewed
from a distance, as there would be a completed and symmetrical brown

IGBT Essay
Very high power IGBTs
Ultra high power, high voltage, power electronics is on the verge of a new era. Two new power
semiconductor technologies, the high voltage IGBT are improving the performance, simplifying
the design and increasing the reliability of applications ranging from 100 s of KVA to many MVA.
In recent years, the performance of industrial power electronics for line voltages up to 600VAC has
advanced rapidly. Initially, improvements were made possible by the development of high current
isolated base darlington transistor modules. More recently, stunning improvements in IGBT
technology has driven performance to new levels while substantially reducing cost. Over the same
period, ultra high power, high voltage, applications ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In applications operating from AC line voltages of 600VAC and less, IGBTs with blocking voltage
ratings of up to 1400V have provided an efficient low cost means of constructing high performance
voltage source inverters. In higher voltage applications GTOs (Gate Turn Off thyristors) have been
used but their limited switching frequency of 300Hz or so, offers little advantage when compared
to other circuit topologies. Clearly, a higher performance, high power semiconductor device is
needed. Today, newly commercialized high voltage IGBTs with blocking voltages to 3300V
The HVIGBT (High Voltage IGBT) module is a logical extension of the technology used in
conventional IGBTs. Several technical challenges had to be overcome in order for these devices
to attain the desired characteristics. First, an IGBT chip with high blocking voltage, reasonably
low on state voltage, and sufficiently wide safe operating area had to be developed. In lower
voltage devices, a buffer layer structure (a.k.a. PT Punch Through) similar to a PIN diode (figure
1a) was found to be optimally effective for this purpose. The buffer layer in these devices was
formed as part of the epitaxial silicon wafer. Adapting this structure to a high voltage device
requires a very thick epitaxial layer which presents serious cost and yield problems. One way
around this problem is to use an NPT (Non Punch Through) structure (figure 1b) for the device.
The NPT structure does not have a buffer layer and is

Human Social Perception Of Social Psychology
Human Social Perception in Empirical Literature
Human social perception is area of study within social psychology that involves the complex
cognitive system that is personal to each individual. Since each person has a unique cognitive
system, interpretation of social situations is unique to each individual. The differences in cognition
and perception between different people allows for varied interpretations, accurate perceptions,
and misperceptions. Social perception is an interesting topic that has been largely researched by a
multitude of social psychologists. The goal of this paper is to provide a brief description of social
psychology, a summary of social perception, some of its forms and uses, misperception, and
accuracy in perception.
Brief Description of Social Psychology
Social psychology is the scientific field that focuses on the individual within society. Due to this
individualistic focus, people are often studied experimentally within or in relation to social
environments. Social psychology studies the effects of social processes and cognitive processes on
the way individuals perceive, influence, and relate to others, in a systematic way, using scientific
methods (Smith Mackie, 2007). Due to the complexity of the human body and mind, social
psychology is a vast field that has been explored by many experts. As social creatures, people
interact constantly within an environment that requires complex cognitive and perceptual
processes. As a result, the

Research On Therapeutic Environment Theory
Therapeutic environment theory is an area of environmental psychology which also links in with
neuroscience and immunology. A place of therapy can be a setting such as a hospital, as it is used
for application of therapy or treatment. On the other hand the term therapeutic environment refers
to any environmentthat is designed intentionally to have a therapeutic effect on individuals. A
hospital may be considered therapeutic in itself because it is a place where people are treated.
However settings such gardens can be used for their therapeutic benefits, thus application of such
surrounds can be used in therapy; such as healing gardens. Hospitals may be a place of therapy,
however it is also a place patients may experience a lot of stress due to health concerns. This in
turn causes the immune system to weaken and may affect their emotional wellbeing. Thus, it is
important hospitals are designed to be more therapeutic in order to decrease stress. This essay will
consider how hospitals can be considered more therapeutic and what aspects contribute to this.
Ulrich, Zimring, Quan, and Joseph (2004) study illustrates the effect of the environment on
physical as well as a psychological effect on patients. This study shows how decreasing a patients
stress levels via modifications to the environment can improve health outcomes. There are many
ways in which we can adapt the physical environment of a hospital in order to make it more
therapeutic, resulting in positive outcomes for

Unless a teacher is granted permission to teach students for a certain period, an evaluation cannot
be implemented. In other words, data on a teacher s features and characteristics cannot be further
researched or collected. Yet, public schools rely on them to ensure the quality of all their students
education are being kept high. Undoubtedly, this direct approach has a huge influence on the
students lives. However, this method s outcomes might not always be favourable. Moreover, public
schools are pursing many opportunities to avoid this type of situations. In this report, the data on
the teachers from 1991 2014 will be interpreted based on: types of certificates, years of experience,
age, volume of workload, and amount of salaries. Thus, this analysis might help solve this question:

Essay On Cyber Runestone
The Kensington Runestone was discovered almost 120 years ago, but it is believed to be over
650 years old. In 1898, a farmer from the outskirts of Alexandria, MN (Kensington) discovered the
medieval artifact. Olof Г–hman was originally from Sweden, and came to America in 1879 to own
land and farm it, since owning land in Sweden was not an option for him. The Kensington
Runestone was unearthed when Olaf Г–hman was clearing his land for farming. He came across
the stone entangled in the roots of an Aspen tree. It was a 202 pound stone, so it was no easy task
getting it out from under that tree. There was more than one eye witness when the runestone was
being uncovered. When the stone was discovered, and inscription of it was sent to the University
of Minnesota to be translated. It took over one hundred more years for the copy on the stone to be
correctly translated. The copy on the stone says Eight Got landers and... Show more content on

Many researchers came from all around the world to study the stone, and many tried to say that the
stone was a hoax. Г–hman and his family had to deal with being in the spotlight and all of the

on his death bed. Some researchers were linguists, and they tried to prove the stone a hoax by
saying that some of the inscriptions on the stone didn t exist in the Norse language at the time the
stone was supposedly carved (1362), implying that Olaf Г–hman carved the stone himself. This
accusation has since been proven wrong, as there were artifacts found in Europe that are similar.
In the beginning of the twenty first century, it was scientifically proven that Olaf did not carve the
stone himself. A geologist determined this by performing a test on the deterioration of the stone.
Olaf and his family got ridiculed and mocked by the public, and by researchers who wanted the

  • 6. The New Concepts Of Expressionism Neo Expressionism revived Australian landscape paintings through the reinterpretation of traditional virtuosity and the rejection of minimalistic forms (Atkins 2013, 171) from the late 1960 s through to the early 90 s (Keylor 2007, 904). The new concepts of Expressionism was also inspired by Surrealist themes from the Modernist period as well as mythology, culture, history and the erotic (The Art Story, 2016). Two Australian artists who create a new perception of the Australian landscapeby incorporating these techniques and ideas were Peter Booth and Brett Whiteley. Booth s metamorphic Paintingtwo (1984) (appendix one), and apocalyptic Drawing (Catastrophe with flying insects) (1984) (appendix two), are influenced and explorative of the Australian landscape as well as incorporative of mythology, Surrealist dreams and subjective imagery (Godfrey 2009, 61). Whiteley s Lavender Bay series of The Balcony 2 (1975) (appendix three) and Big Orange (sunset) (1974) (appendix 4); are expressive of the infamous bay in Sydney, connecting to the Australian landscape, however explorative of different perceptions on a classical image. These two artists both lead astray from the minimalistic techniques of this time, by exploring the Australian landscape through innovative ways of expressive painting. Picture Bride Essay Immigrants arriving in America for their first time are initially devastated at their new lives and realize their golden lives were simply fantasies and dreams of an ideal life in America. Immigrants from foreign countries, including those mentioned in Uchida s Picture Bride, faced countless problems and hardships, including a sense of disillusionment and disappointment. Furthermore, immigrants and picture brides faced racial discrimination not only from white men, but the United States government, as well. Immigrants were plagued with economic hardships lived in deplorable living conditions. It was drab and dirty and smelled of stale food...[one] would expect something a bit finer (Uchida, 34). Hana becomes disheartened as her visions were shattered by reality and a sense of betrayal from her husband s lies. She, like many picture brides and immigrants, expected too much of a new life, and when she discovers the way things really are, she feels deceived and dismayed. Accepting the truth and the reality of their new lives is a part of an immigrant s experience in moving to America and is a crucial part in shaping their attitudes in their new lives. Once an immigrant becomes situated with their new life styles, the foreign immigrants are introduced to a sense of hatred and discrimination omnipresent in society. Many Americans and white men were not welcoming towards alien immigrants and expressed a great deal of discrimination and hatred. Immigrants and their families realized they had to learn to accept this hatred if they wanted to live in America, and eventually taught themselves to be tolerant towards discrimination, without knowing a motif behind a white man s disgust towards immigrants. Hana was able to accept the discrimination and eventually passed down her tolerance and acceptance down to, her daughter, Mary, who learn to submit to a white man s intolerance. • 9. U.s. Foreign Policy Approaches The United States (U.S.) uses two approaches to their foreign policy. The first approach is realism. This viewpoint stresses that the principal actors, states, will pursue their own interests in an anarchical world. States will try to establish a balance of power that restrains aggressive states from dominating weaker ones. The second approach is idealism. This view stresses that states should transform the system into a new international order where peace can prevail. This approach emphases the spread of democracy across the world and the creation of international institutions. Realism and idealism provides an explanation to how U.S. foreign policy has developed since World War Two (WWII), identifies which influential factors play a role in both foreign policy approaches, and determines which view has best served the pursuit of national interests. The realist and idealist approaches are important in explaining the swinging pendulum path American foreign policy took since WWII. Over the past seventy years, U.S. foreign policy switches between these two approaches. After WWII ended, idealistic U.S. policymakers believed that cooperation between the United Statesand Soviet Unionwould transform the world to a more cooperative and peaceful one. This idealistic belief was quickly demolished by the Soviet expansions in Turkey and Greece and the destruction of the hopes of U.S. Soviet cooperation after WWII. So, U.S. policymakers switched to a realist approach in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. What Role Did The Greek Gods Play In The Story Of The Morphed The myths of Achilles are well known, and are mentioned in modern society. But, they have been morphed to society s desires. This is demonstrated in the movie Troy, where the stories have been changed for modern audience. The director condensed the story, and changed the story to show some romanticism and love. This is shown from the absence of the greek gods, significance of certain characters, inaccurate information, the morphed traits of certain characters, and the falsehood of romantic presence. In greek society the gods played a great role in the Trojan war, which was not mentioned in the movie. The movies depth is quite shallow, as the gods had great significance in the legend of Achillesand the Trojan War. The movie fails to mention the presence of gods, that influence the decisions of characters in the Trojan war. This is due to the belief that gods are non existant in modern society. Which completely contradicts the greek belief system where gods create our fate and influence our decisions. The greek society was so dependent on the gods that the very success of a human or a battle depended on the influence of the gods. The only god that was present in the movie is Achilles s mother Thetis. Thetis had more significance in the war than the movie depicted, calming Achilles every time he got overwhelmed with anger. The movie fails to mentionthat Appolo guided Paris s arrow into Achilles vulnerable spot, the ankle. Or that Aphrodite saved Paris s life against ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Competition is one of the main business problems Google is facing. With its abundance of products and services, Google encounters competition from companies that belong to different industries. New disruptive technologies in addition to rapid change are just some of the characteristics of those industries. Google s competitive landscape includes companies that connect people with information and related advertising on the web. One of them is Yahoo! that competes with Google in search and paid listings. Some of the products created by Yahoo! are direct rivals to Google s Local Search, Home Page, Froogle, Gmail, Maps, and Picasa applications. In the industry of e commerce, Google is facing competition from eBay. Both Google Checkout and eBay s PayPal offer checkout services to third party retailers. Along with competition, Google is facing a lot of legal problems. Advertisers, news publishers, and users complained about the performance of Google s core business. For instance, in 2004 Geico sued Google for showing competitors ads when users searched for Geico. Google News also went under attack when online news publishers repeatedly complained that Google used their content without permission. • 20. Persuasive Essay On World Hunger World hunger is on the rise since the turn of the century. Many people overlook world hunger because there are many organizations supporting the cause. Awareness has been brought towards the cause but surprisingly the number still keeps going up. In 2016, the number of chronically undernourished people reached 815 million, up 38 million from the previous year (McVeigh, K). Having 11% of the world s population be undernourished is a serious problem that many people are not aware of. Even though there is a campaign to end world hungerby 2030 it will be impossible to achieve if people don t start to help. UNICEF has recognized this and has launched it s own world hunger campaign that has inspired many to make a difference. There are 795 million people in the world that do not posses the nutritional necessities to live a healthy life (World Hunger Statistics). Furthermore, one in seven people on Earth are hungry. It is just not hunger that affects so many people in the world, but also lack of clean water. UNICEF understands this issue and has conducted its own research. In 2012 it was estimated by UNICEF that alone 6.6 million children under the age of five died that year from preventable causes (EVERY CHILD COUNTS). That is like losing the entire population of Los Angeles and Chicago combined. Of those 6.6 million children, nearly 45% died of poor nutrition. That is close to three million children. Research Paper On Abolishment Of Slavery Often times in America, land of the free, diversity is celebrated in order to create peace between cultures and establish a safe area where people will be judged for who they are rather than by the color of their skin. This idea of a picture perfect world may never exist however, based on the fact that diversity seems to create conflict a lot more often than resolve. All cultural conflicts spark from the shared roots of oppression and varying beliefs. The oppression of entire cultures lead to one the most most hated practices in America. Women and young girls make up 98% of victims of trafficking for exploitation. Human trafficking and sex slavery is a form of modern slavery, in which traffickers profit from the control and exploitation of others. It is a multi billion industry. Traffickers use control of others for the purpose of engaging in sexual activities and or forcing others to provide labor services against their will. Traffickers use many manipulative tactics to trap their victims in horrific situations such as using violence, threats, deception, and bondage. More women and girls are transported into brothels yearly, in the 21st century, than African slaves were shipped into slave plantations each year in the 18th century. In the United States, sex trafficking commonly occurs in online escort services, residential brothel, brothels that may be disguised as businesses, and in street prostitution. High profits and low risks are the two primary factors that drive the spread of human trafficking. It is a market driven criminal industry that is based on the principal of supply and demand. The Effect Of Recasts And Prompts On Francophone Learners Regarding output, Corrective Feedback (CF) caters chance for learners to improve their interlanguage when interlocutors provide correct input (recast) or attempt eliciting the correct output from learners (prompt). Ammar and Spada (2006) conducted research to compare the effectiveness of recasts and prompts on Francophone learners of English at different levels. The study focused on the third person possessive determiners (his and her) which are problematic to French native speakers. After being instructed the rule and through some practices, learners would be given either recasts or prompts to errors regarding his and her, or no CF in the control group. Participants were assessed three times: pre test, immediate post test and delayed post test. The researchers discovered that instruction and exposure plus CF are more effective than those without CF. No technique is better than the other since prompts are more effective than recasts for lower proficiency students while high proficiency students benefit from both equally. Although the study only focused on the binary forms (either his or her), it suggested that prompts be applied more to improve lower level learners performance. The writers goal in writing this paper is not to say that mental illnesses are not real, rather, to point out some of the myths and traditions that are related to depression. We as a people tend to confuse normal emotions with clinical depression, in which they are prescribed antidepressants to make them feel better. The myth focused on in this paper is the Chemical Imbalance theory, which has been adopted by our society for years. The number of people in America that are currently on antidepressantmedications is alarming and this issue must be addressed. A mistake that many well meaning American s make is taking pills when those pills are not necessary. These pills are rather damaging to an individual s physical, emotional, and family health. When individuals take responsibility for their emotions and meet their core needs as a human, the normal emotionof sadness can be resolved. Despite its age, the jug is remarkably whole, missing only a small fragment on its rim. In order to view all its designs, viewers would have to observe the jug from multiple angles. The jug has a limited but warm colour palette of mostly brown and white, which imbues it with a dignified and understated elegance. Despite its restrained earthy colours that suggest stability, the use of spirals and kinaesthetic imagery evokes the ideas of energy and movement. Upon closer observation, viewers notice that the lustre of the jug has cracked in several places and acquired different hues in other spots, probably due to age. This accusation has since been proven wrong, as there were artifacts found in Europe that are similar. In the beginning of the twenty first century, it was scientifically proven that Olaf did not carve the stone himself. A geologist determined this by performing a test on the deterioration of the stone. Olaf and his family got ridiculed and mocked by the public, and by researchers who wanted the glory of proving it a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
