Holiday Break Research Paper
Over the holiday break, I did lots of fun things. I spent time with family, I hung out with friends, and I
went to Branson. I really enjoyed the break and had tons of fun!
For Christmas, we always meet up with my dad s side of the family the Saturday before Christmas and
they all come over to my house. We ate dinner with them and opened up presents. On Christmas Eve
morning, my family and I went to my church for a candlelight service. That night we also went to the
candlelight service at Immanuel Baptist Church to meet up with some friends and family. After
Immanuel s candlelight service was over I went to my great grandmother s house to eat dinner and
open presents with some of my family members. When that was over, I went back over to my

Essay on Prayer Should Be Allowed in Public Schools
Prayer Should Be Allowed in Public Schools School prayer is a very controversial issue in today s
society. The issue of school prayer is about whether the public school systems should let the students
pray, at the start of the school day, as a class. The issue of school prayer began in the late sixteenth
century when people in England did not approve of the way one religion was forced upon them, so the
Puritans, known as the Pilgrims decided to come to the colonies. Even in the colonies the Pilgrims had
problems with religion they had to sometimes resort to highly creative strategies in order to pray.
When people were caught having a secret service they would have to face the consequences that the
law enforced, whether it was going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prayer should allowed in the public school system because prayer is an important part of America s
rich spiritual heritage. All throughout the history of America there have been many important
documents written of our country that have references to Almighty God, Thy Blessings, and Our
dependence upon Thee. These include: the Declaration of Independence, the Gettysburg Address, the
national anthem, and the presidential oath (Haas, 1995, p. 39). In school students always say the
pledge, which states, One Nation Under God. A prayer says that students just want to ask for a good
day and guidance throughout the day. Not only do important documents of our country refer to God
but also the words In God We Trust are engraved on all coins minted and bills pressed in the United
States (1995, p. 39). There are two parts of the American tradition and they are prayer and religion
(1995, p. 39). If society keeps prayer out of the public schools, they are teaching the students that
traditions are not important and that what this country was founded upon does not matter. Does society
want to raise a group of young people to disrespect what their forefathers wanted; religious freedom?
If that is the case then why do people try to keep this country working at its prime when trouble
occurs? People do not want to see this nation fall but in the end it

The Power Of Speech In Jane Austen s Persuasion
At face value, Anne s speech in the published ending of Jane Austen s Persuasion seems to not quite
follow with her quiet nature throughout most of the book. In the original unpublished conclusion to
this book, Anne retains her standard silence that is her signature characteristic. However, with a
modest amount of studying one will find Anne s remaining silent would not follow suit with her
character s progression through the story. The reason though for her continued growth towards
comfort in speech I believe to be directly tied to her continued growth back towards Captain
Wentworth. Reading through this book we become accustomed to Anne being the silent character,
leading us to feel like something is wrong when she begins to speak more and more. Due to this we
are naturally drawn to question why Anne is speaking so much.
More than this we must wonder, why Anne did not speak before this point? Throughout this book we
are given enough information to see that Anne speaks much less in comparison to all the other
characters, however we are never given anything to say why she is this way. One possible explanation
that we find in Chapter 1 is this description of her relationship with her father and sisters, her word
had no weight; her convenience was always to give way; she was only Anne. (Austen, 1817) This
seems like quite enough to keep someone from speaking up as much, knowing that they would always
get automatically shut down for being considered only Anne . This seems like a strange way for Anne
s own family to treat her. Given, Sir Walter is not known for being the father of the year, but he at least
treats his other two daughters with some form of fatherly love. The flaw in this though is that in the
very last published chapter it is said that Sir Walter, indeed, though he had no affection for Anne, and
no vanity flattered, to make him really happy on the occasion, was very far from thinking it a bad
match for her. It is clearly stated that Sir Walter did not even have any affection towards his daughter
Anne.
This all lets us deny the idea of Sir Walter s view of his daughter affecting her reason for silence. The
next possibility would be in her own sister s treatment of Anne. We see in the last

Literary Analysis Lesson 1
Introduction:
This unit is designed for a twelfth grade honors British literature class. These students are extremely
gifted and will be taking the AP exam for college credit towards the end of the school year. The
students will be learning about the dynamic and static characters in the book. They will be identifying
how the dynamic character changes throughout the story and how the static characters stay the same.
This is important because these students are undergoing major changes in their lives at this point; they
will be attending college next year and taking a big leap into the somewhat unknown. I want the
students to be able to see the difference between change and what is stagnant. The students will also
be able to chart the progression, or lack thereof in the main characters. The students have prior
knowledge of this short story and have had lessons that go over dynamic and static character traits. I
do have two ESL students in my classroom that I will be tinkering parts of the activities to

Euro Disney
1 Introduction – Euro Disney s Plans and Reality
When the International Offer of Shares for the Euro Disneyland S.C.A. (in the following called Euro
Disney) was published in October 1989 the plans for this new enterprise of the Walt Disney group
were ambiguous. The financial plans for the first year of operation projected total revenues of FF
5,482 million and a net profit after taxation of FF 204 million. For the following years the
development should be even more impressive. At that time the plans were seen as a consequent
application of the concepts of the existing Disney designed theme parks.[1]
Just a short time after Euro Disney was opened in time on April 1992 it was obvious that reality would
not meet the plans. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this reasons all conclusions given below should be evaluated carefully. For a more detailed
analysis additional information would be necessary[4].
To be able to make a general statement this report will compare the plans for the first and second year
of operation with the financial years ending September 30th 1992 and 1993. At least the last one will
provide the opportunity to compare two periods of twelve months of operation. This comparison is
provided in appendices 1 to 3. With a stress on the second year – as explained above – the following
conclusions can be drawn:
· In the first year Euro Disney nearly met expectations for revenues and operating expenses of the
Magic Kingdom. With no operating profit from the resort and property development sector and higher
than planned general and administrative costs it failed to meet the profit projection by FF 392 Mio.
· In the second year again revenues from the Magic Kingdom reached the planned level but operating
expenses for this exceeded plans so that the operating profit was below expectations.
· Again there was no significant operating profit from the resort and property development operations.
· Lease, general and administrative expenses far exceeded plans.
· As a result the profit before exceptional profit and taxation missed plans by FF 2,332 Mio.
A more detailed analysis is given in appendix 4.

How Do Recent Legislative Developments Affect The British...
When critically analysing how recent legislative developments have affected the British Constitution,
there are many different aspects to take into consideration. We need to consider the nature of the
British Constitution, which has been widely accepted as uncodified, being found in Acts of
Parliament, Court Judgements and Conventions. Whilst there is no written document forming the
Constitution, there are understood to be governing principles. These include the need for the
separation of powers and Parliamentary sovereignty. Three primary legislative developments affecting
these principles are: The separation of powers within the United Kingdom, the Legislature, the
Judiciary and the Executive, have been made much clearer over the years, ... Show more content on

The main issue that should first be outlined is that it can be argued that the Human Rights Act causes
an imbalance. The Act favours the judiciary over both the executive and the legislature as it gives the
judiciary the power to impose their authority over the other two. Section 3 of the Act gives the
judiciary the power to read and give effect to primary and secondary legislation in a way which will be
most compatible with the Convention Rights. This puts the judiciary in a sufficiently decent position
when interpreting legislation passed by the executive and the legislature due to the Act allowing them
to declare incompatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights and therefore negating the
provision in question. The case of R v A demonstrates the challenges that other legislation has faced
due to the ability for the judiciary to declare incompatibility. This was due to section 41 of the Youth
Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 restricting the admissibility at trial of evidence relating to the
sexual behaviour of those who made allegations of rape. The aim of Parliament was clearly to prevent
making the victim uncomfortable by being asked questions of sexual history which could impact
willingness to report crime and the prospects of a successful prosecution. However the judiciary
position was that upholding the defendant s Article 6 right to a

Got Milk Essay
Got Milk? An Analysis Got Milk? is perhaps one of the greatest marketing taglines ever. It has
become practically ingrained in our culture since its debut in 1993. Milk is not a very high interest
item in people s lives. It s a staple, said Jeff Goodby, creator of the slogan. Although milk is not new,
not improved, and generally considered boring, the Got Milk? ads are stunningly effective because of
its simplicity, use of celebrities, and broad audience reach.
The best slogans, San Diego State University marketing professor George Belch says, don t require
consumers to do too much thinking, but they shouldn t be blanket statements, either. Got Milk? is not
only simple, but it motivates the consumer. The message is: always have milk around. The Got Milk?
campaign did it with humor and suddenly it became cool to drink milk. What helped push it even
further was using the celebrity cachet. By utilizing that, awareness of drinking milk has increased by
90% since its early 90 s launch. The ad company got famous athletes, comedians, pop stars, game
show hosts, and even cartoon characters sporting milk mustaches with a healthy milk fact vaguely
related to the celebrity being featured. In the Simpson s Got Milk? ad, Bart jokes about the milk
mustaches and Lisa retorts with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

kid could easily recognize them. The Three Stooges were irrelevant by the time the 90 s rolled around
but they were still recognizable to the older generation who grew up with black and white tv, therefore
it s targeted more to seniors. All things considered, milk is not new, not improved, and generally
considered unexciting. The Got Milk? ads are anything but because of its simplicity, use of relevant
pop culture icons, and a wide demographic variety. So have a cow,

Comparisons have become an inevitable and integrated with life and work. Even though myself most
of us don t like comparisons since every individual is unique and should never be compared for what
they are with others and comparison always make sense when it s made self, within, which can only
be the real truth. Even in Agile, it s advised not to compare two teams with their velocity, since every
team features and work are different. Saying that, certain situations, act and benchmark force us to do
so to really set the benchmark for others.
These incidents happened yesterday and both of them were related to Elevators and I could not stop

The Lottery Symbolism
If you were to win a small million dollar lottery, you would feel a rush of adrenaline when you see
your lucky numbers get called out. Would you feel that same rush of adrenaline when you win another
type of lottery, where the winner gets stoned to death? This type of lottery was the plot to one of
Shirley Jackson s short stories. This story is set in an almost modern time, in a small average looking
town. The townsfolk gather together for an annual lottery where the winner gets stoned to death as a
sacrifice for the growth of crops. At the time this story takes place, a woman who protests the use of
this lottery draws the marked paper, but no matter what she does, she cannot convince the town to
redo the draw. The story ends with her getting stoned by the whole townsfolk. In the short story The
Lottery, Shirley Jackson reveals to the readers the dark side of human nature through her use of
setting, foreshadowing, and symbolism. In the beginning, the story presents children, just recently out
of school, stacking rocks and stuffing the smoother better looking ones into their pockets. This
courtyard where the children played was where the town s people were gathering. Jackson writes in
this village, where there were only about three hundred people, the whole lottery took less than two
hours ... still be through in time to allow the villagers to get home for noon diner (290). The place and
time that this story was set illustrates how people were not that advanced and that

Medical Malpractice Lawsuit
Have you or a loved one s health recently been affected by the negligence or misconduct of a
physician or medical staff? If so, you may be eligible to file a medical malpractice lawsuit in order to
recover damages for your medical costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
Medical malpractice can take many forms, such as failing to diagnose a serious medical condition,
misdiagnosis, adverse reactions, and anesthesia, surgical, and medication errors. It is important to note
that not all medical errors constitute medical malpractice; thus, it is crucial that you speak with an
experienced malpractice lawyer to determine if negligence has taken place and what your legal
options are.

In order to win your Massachusetts medical malpractice lawsuit, you must show that the other party
was negligent or engaged in misconduct. It is important to hire a medical malpractice lawyer who has
successfully handled cases similar to yours. An experienced attorney will know how to investigate
your case in order to prove liability. If you win your case, you may be compensated for loss of
income, medical bills, mental anguish, and other expenses related to your injury.
How a Medical Malpractice Lawyer Can Help
Insurance companies and hospitals will often attempt to settle quickly in order to avoid costly legal
fees, however, the amount of compensation offered is usually far below what those injuries will cost
you and your family in lost wages and medical treatment, not to mention the significant loss of quality
of life that usually accompanies the serious medical conditions that often result from

The Goals Of Spartacus s Uprising
Aldo Schiavone is a full time professor in Roman law at the Italian Institute of Human Sciences which
he founded and directed it from 2006 to 2010. Spartacus is about his uprising and how became a rebel
leader who gets very close to turning Rome upside down with a rebellion lead by the Thracian. Aldo
also sheds light on Spartacus s end goals of the rebellion which hadn t been very clear until after
reading the book. Spartacus was an enslaved gladiator who hoped to turn a rebellion of slaves into an
uprising against Rome, and in doing so launch himself into the political arena to gain a high position
there.

becoming a gladiator, then ending with his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Concluding part one Spartacus has a plan to escape the camp in Capua where he was held, which was
run by Lentulus Batiatus. Spartacus s plan succeeds escaping with a good portion of his arena
companions. According to Plutarch, two hundred prisoners escaped (33). This is where Spartacus
begins to build the army that was used in the rebellion. According to Schiavone, Spartacus had
something different in mind, which prompted him to pursue a specific goal to build an army and
continue to fight (41). Here its provided a temporary goal of Spartacus that tell us he wanted to build
up his forces to fight Rome and what it stood for at the time. This is exactly what they continued to do
throughout part two. They go from village to village grabbing the necessary supplies and volunteers to
the cause. Doing all of this while fighting off roman troops that are dispatched to take care of
Spartacus. According to Florus, Plutarch, and Appian, Spartacus had a battle against Varinius who was
lucky to have survived, but it still went disastrous for the romans with their lictors who were
attendants to the praetors being captured along with their symbols of command or Fasces showed the
strength of Spartacus s force (51). Spartacus continued to win these battles fought against the romans
until the end of part two. The rebel commander decided to split his forces into two groups hoping to
cover more ground and gather more supplies and troops. Spartacus was head of one group while his
arena Companion form Capua Crixus lead the other. The roman forces would do the same and divide
into group running into Crixus first. Schiavone puts it best Crixus most have been a brave warrior, but
not a capable commander (88). Crixus would fall to the romans in battle along with a good portion of
his men before Spartacus is able to provide support. This would be a blow to the rebel

Pros And Cons Of Building A Border Wall
Should the United States build a border wall? Many will procrastinate about this but in the end there
will be an outcome with what will happen as far as building a border wall. There are many Pros and
Cons to this single objective. Starting off with a Pro, Many say this is a racist act or a sign of
weakness coming from our President Donald Trump. But in some cases this is an essential thing for
the United States to do. This wall too many is wrong to do because our media has a big head on racial
point along society today. In the long run a wall could be really beneficial as a commodity for the
security of our great nation.
Jeff Corwin stated that If this border wall actually happens, it will be an environmental catastrophe.
Essentially, what it s doing is cutting through nature s bridge, which connects Central America to
North America and South America. Which in many cases this can be supported but then again many
people work very hard to become a citizen in the United States for many to come across the border to
get here illegally and to most this is unfair. To make another main statement given the rising global
instability in North Korea and the Middle East with a strong and supportive border it would be harder
for terrorist to get their hands on biological, chemical or radiological weapons. With an insecure
border it makes it easier for them to bring them into the United States and launch a devastating attack
on the United States.
A big Con that has many thinking is who

List And Describe The Signs And Symptoms Of Ad
List and Describe the Signs and Symptoms of AD? Alzheimer s Disease (AD) affects individuals and
families mentally, emotionally and physically. The signs and symptoms are progressive in nature, and
can significantly impact the quality of life of those who are affected. Early symptoms of AD are often
not detected, and therefore may lead to delayed treatment and support. In the early stages of the
disease, patients often try to conceal their symptoms, in hopes that family members, friends and
coworkers will not detect signs of deficits. Early symptoms of AD include: forgetfulness, subtle
memory loss, mild speech impairments as well as onset of depression (Pellico, 2013, p. 2013).

(Alzheimer s Association, n.d). As imagined, detection may be challenging for healthcare providers as
well, as patients may not discuss their symptoms, due to beliefs that symptoms are strictly associated
with the aging process. Moderate AD, which is known to be the longest lasting stage, can last for
many years (Alzheimer s Association, n.d). Behaviors associated with the middle stage of the disease
include progressive forgetfulness of events or about one s own personal history, withdrawnness
especially in socially or mentally challenging situations, poor mood regulation, confusion about where
they are or what day it is, inability to recall personal address or telephone number or the high school

season or the occasion, interruptions in sleep patterns such as sleeping during the day and becoming
restless at night, increased wandering and becoming lost, as well as difficulty with controlling bladder
and bowels in some individuals (Alzheimer s Association, n.d). Progressive personality changes are
also often associated with middle stage AD, and include suspiciousness and delusions or
compulsiveness (Pellico, 2013, p. 1238). Lastly, as the disease progresses into the

Paul Poiret Linear By Women In The 1930 s
Another garment that was often worn by women in 1930 s was a sarong. A sarong, also known as

Special Cpu Features Of Cpu Overclocking
Special CPU Features CPU overclocking is a very common method of increasing the speed of your
computer. Overclocking is setting your CPU and memory so that it will run faster than the
recommended manufacturer speed. When you overclock your computer, there are some precautions
that you will want to take: 1) Overclocking will cause your computer to run much warmer so it is
required that it has good ventilation. 2) If you notice that your computer is starting to run too hot, you
need to better ventilate the computer, or just dial down the overclocking a little bit until it reaches safe
temperatures. 3) The speed of the CPU and memory should be slowly increased. If the speed is
increased too much then the computer may not start, or it may become unstable and crash. Another
feature that some CPU s have is called Hyper Threading. This is a process in which a single CPU acts
like two separate CPU s. It splits each core in half, so that it can perform multitasking a little bit faster.
A common misconception is that Hyper Threading is the same as just doubling the cores, and this is
not true. The number of cores are doubled, but not the power of the cores. The power of the cores are
split in half. Hyper Threading does not have a substantial influence in the speed of the computer, but it
will help a little when multitasking. If the computer is being used for gaming, then Hyper Threading
will not have an impact in the quality of the game. If the computer is being used for video

The Themes Of Betrayal And Redemption In The Kite Runner
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is a historical fiction novel set mostly in Kabul, Afghanistan and
Fremont, California. The novel spans the time periods before, during, and after the reign of the
Russians (1979 1989) and the Taliban s takeover (1996) of Afghanistan. It is told through the first
person perspective of Amir alongside his father, Baba, his half brother, Hassan, and Baba s
companions Ali and Rahim Khan. Growing up, Amir and Hassan are practically inseparable, as they
are always playing games, reading poetry, or simply spending time together. Hassan s mother,

Hassan allows Assef to rape him because Assef threatens to take away the last kite that Amir has cut to
win the competition. Since he seeks Baba s approval, he wants to present it to him to establish a
better* relationship with him. Therefore, he views Hassan s rape as a sacrifice for his desires. Directly
before the incident, Amir [catches] a glimpse of Hassan s face, and describes his face as holding
resignation in it (76). He then goes on to compare his expression to the look of a lamb (76). In this
quote, Amir is referring to the sheep that he witnesses the mullah kill on a Muslim holiday, the tenth
day of Dhul Hijjah, which he and his family celebrate every year. Amir believes that the lamb sees
itself as a sacrifice, and accepts its unwanted fate, which is how he believes that Hassan feels too.
Though Amir later feels immense guilt for his actions*, he is able to disregard* his regrets when he
and Baba move to America to escape the Russian takeover. Amir compares America to a river, roaring
along , and views it as being unmindful of the past (136). He describes forgetting his mistakes in
America as entering the river, [letting] [his] sins drown to the bottom , and allowing, the waters to
carry [him] someplace far. (136). Because of this, Amir enjoys thinking of America as a place with no
ghosts, no memories, , and no sins , and relishes in his forgetful state (136). However, as one can not

Biofuels And Alternative Sources Of Energy
Introduction Biofuels, derived from living organisms rather than petroleum laden rock, are the focus
of current energy research. The need for biofuels and alternative sources of energy will be necessary
as the earth s resources begin to diminish. In cohesion with this concern, the current uses of fossil
fuels are a concern as the environment pays an incredible toll for our overuse of this resource. Many
have attempted to replace petroleum fuel with the first generation biofuels would require diverting
farmland and crops for biofuel production, causing economic and ethical problems and competing
with world food supply (Zhang et. al., 2011). The production of these biofuels have a negative effect
on the environment, as a backdrop of rising crude oil prices, depletion of resources, and political
instability in producing countries, only biomass has the potential to replace the supply of an energy
hungry civilization (Antoni et. al., 2007). This is proof that it is crucial to begin to create biofuels that
have a lesser negative impact that can sustain the energy demands that we have today. Currently, as
seen in the table, microbes have been proven to produce ethanol, biodiesel and hydrogen, which are all
sources that can be used for producing renewable fuels. Due to their limited demands on the
environment they prove to be an excellent candidate for a successful biofuel.
Many of the biofuels produced from microbes are done so by varying organic pathways in order to

She has the most beautiful and kind soul. She was also born with a severe mental and physical

Similarities Between Daedalus And The Fall Of Icarus
But who names a starship the Icarus? What kind of man possess that much hubris, that he dares it to
fall? (Kaufman). Icarus is a character in a myth that inherits a hubris quality who has excessive pride
in himself which gets him into some poor situations and teaches a lesson to others. Ovid s story
Daedalus and Icarus and the painting The Fall of Icarus depict hubris through conflicts and theme.
Hubris is shown in both of the story and the portrait of Icarus through different ways but are very
much similar. In Daedalus and Icarus, Icarus is described as a bird, leading her fledglings out of a nest,
this shows his excessive pride in himself to lead others. In the portrait it shows Icarus in the water
drowning, yet you can see the

Analyzing Buddha s The Four Noble Truths
The most interesting part of this week s reading is The Four Noble Truths. In Buddha s first sermon he
discussed these truths to his disciples. The Four Noble Truths are: Life is suffering, suffering is caused
by craving, suffering can have an end, and there is a path which leads to the end of suffering. Life is
suffering is the realization that the world is in fact suffering. Suffering and pain are referred to as
Duhka , there are three types of Duhka s. Duhka Duhka is suffering due to biological causes which can
refer to physical illness or broken bones. The second is Viparinama Duhka which refers to suffering
due to change or impermanence, which is pain due to the fact that nothing lasts forever i.e. a person s
life. The final is Samskara

A Critical Evaluation of the Deductive Argument from Evil
Critically Evaluate the Deductive Argument from Evil
Logically, can Evil and the three O God co exist in this universe? The deductive argument from evil
says they cannot. In this essay I will explain the argument and analyze why it is valid but unsound. I
will do this by discussing fallacious nature of the premise that if God were omnipotent and knew he
could prevent the existence of evil without sacrificing some greater good he would then necessarily
prevent it. The essay will propose the following evaluation of the deductive argument from Evil: that
each premise logically follows from its antecedent, but that the concepts in the premises themselves
are not entirely understood and can be refuted. God s Omni benevolence, ... Show more content on

An even further analysis of the issue of misinterpretation of Omni benevolence, or false assumptions
about God s nature, is the claim that the deductive argument from evil contains a referential fallacy;
presuming that all words refer to existing things and that their meaning lies in what the refer to. This
claim of the unsound nature of the argument asserts that the deductive argument from evil fallaciously
assumes the idea of Omni benevolence is defined by existing ideas and worldly concepts of all good
nature . It is logically possibly, however, that God s perfect goodness is beyond man s understanding
and cannot be defined by actions or non actions relating to the evil of this world. Thus leading to the
false conviction that God need necessarily eliminate all evil from the world in order to be inherently
good. These forms of counter arguments to the deductive explanation of evil s non compatibility with
God can be refuted. The following are defenses for the deductive argument that support the primary
understanding of God s Omni benevolence as mandating the elimination of all existing evil. Firstly,
Omni benevolence is a description of God s absolutely good nature and entails that God desires
everything that is good. This desire to bring about good things also means a desire to prevent evil
things from happening. Hence God s good nature doesn t need to necessarily lead to no omission of
good actions, but it does lead to the necessary idea that God

Grecian Myth Of Orpheus
The Grecian myth of Orpheus is a well known tragic tale about love and loss. It is the subject of many
operas and movies, each one s focus on the musicians struggle to rescue his wife from the Underworld
and the heartbreak that follows soon after. In Sarah Ruhl s retelling of the story we have our focus
shifted to Orpheus wife; Eurydice. In this production we given the details of what she had been
through before Orpheus descent, filling in her own story of life and death. After she dies on her
wedding night she is reunited with her father who greets her warmly, though she has forgotten him
during her dip in the unnamed river Lethe. Her father patiently guides her through her new life in the
Underworld, teaching her about her forgotten past and what it means to be alive again. Orpheus,
heartbroken, begins sending letters out into the oblivion hoping that they may reach his wife. When
Eurydice discovers the letters, her father kindly reads them to her in which Orpheus claims that he will
burst through the gates of hell to save his beloved. When he does however, he is greeted by the Lord
of the Underworld who allows him to take Eurydice on one condition; walk home and do not look
back. Eurydice then finds herself in turmoil as she must decide on whether to stay with her father or
return with her husband. After some coaxing from her father she follows Orpheus but just as they

of the first women pirates Anne Bonny and Mary Read, how piracy impacted slavery, the pirates

Because of the degree of respect Snelgraves had, Cocklyn not often seeing a government captain

Area of focus The area of focus is integrating technology into middle school curriculum to influence
the students enthusiasm for learning science (Hollis, 1995). This area of focus does involve teaching
and learning because technology is being incorporated with teaching the students and the students are
learning about science. Uniting the use of technology with academic content enhances the overall

The researcher also showed that she was very caring and dedicated to her students.
Reflective stance The researcher looks at teaching and learning as being universal. Students all learn
differently and because it is not known how a specific student learns, the researcher did not believe
that they were a giver of learning, but was thought to be very assertive about pedagogy of the material.
The students must be willingness to learn and their enthusiasm for discovering knowledge and
developing understanding would tell where students are when learning. If students show that they are
more interested in learning, then they are more prone to wanting to gain the new information. So by
the students showing a positive influence from using technology, it can show that it related to the
researcher reflective stance.
Action
The outcome of the study were that the level of enthusiasm for learning science was increased through
the incorporation of computers and multimedia software into the middle school science curriculum

since there was a success.

Restorative Justice And Restitution Process
When we wrong someone, we seek his or her forgiveness in order for the relationship to be restored.
as noted by (What is a definition for forgiveness, n.d). It is extremely hard to forgive, it is even harder
to forgive someone who has taken a love one s life, and it is understandable for someone to be
apprehensive to restorative justice and restitution process. However, as a member of this family, it is
felt that it would be beneficial to obtain a deeper understanding restorative justice and restitution
process to determine if this is the best fit for the family.
The main priorities of restorative justice is the victims and the restoration of the community to which
the crime occurred. During earlier times restoration justice was used as a procedure to deal with
property crimes (Britto, S., Reimund, M. E., 2013). It has been said that the reason restoration justice
was used for these types of crimes were because it was easier for the offender to right their wrong
through restitution. Restorative Justice has grew increasingly throughout the criminal justice system
over the years. Now, the program is used to ignite affords of victim offender mediation and dialog
aiming to empower victims (Britto, S., Reimund, M. E., 2013). Many feel that having an open dialog
about murder or crimes in general increases the chances of restoring the community and righting the
victim wrong. Restorative Justice requires offender to recognize and acknowledge there wrong. The

A Brief Introduction on Judicial Review in the United...
A Brief Introduction on Judicial Review in the United States
Part I: A Brief Introduction on Judicial Review
Judicial review is the doctrine in democratic theory under which legislative and executive actions are
subject to review, and possible invalidation, by the judiciary. Specific courts with judicial review
power must annul the acts of the state when it finds them incompatible with a higher authority, such as
the terms of a written constitution. Judicial review is an example of the functioning of separation of
powers in a modern governmental system (where the judiciary is one of three branches of
government). This principle is interpreted differently in different jurisdictions, which also have

Raub(1825).Other debates and controversies followed. But Marbury v. Madison has been ratified by
time and practice and has become a cornerstone of the larger constitutional system
Marbury, of course, stands only for the proposition that judges can declare acts of Congress invalid. In
subsequent cases Marshall asserted that judges could also declare invalid executive orders or actions
(Little v. Barreme, 1804 ) and upheld the Judiciary Act of 1789, under which Congress gave the
Supreme Cour power to review and reserve decisions upholding the constitutionality of state statutes
(Martin v. Hunter s Lessee, 1816;Cohens v. Virginia, 1821). Taken collectively, these cases provide
federal judges with impressive tools for monitoring governmental actions, tools that they have not
always been hesitant to use. Through the end of the 1990s, the Supreme Court has invalidated nearly
140 federal statutes and some 1,200 local laws . State courts too, with their own power to strike down
acts passed within their jurisdiction, are active monitors of their governments. One scholar estimates
that state justices invalidate nearly 25 percent of all laws challenged in their court rooms.
Through judicial review, state courts determine whether or not state executive acts or state statutes are
valid. They base such rulings on the principle that a state law that violates the U.S. constitution is
invalid. They also decide the constitutionality of state laws under

Character Analysis Of The Novel The Shipping News
Among all the characters of the novel The Shipping News, Quoyle endures the most powerful change
and provides the one of a kind strength that drives the story onward. He is the insecure protagonist of
the tale, whose self esteem is the feature that limits him the most. In the progress of his transition as a
character he not only spares himself, but his troubled family line as well. Quoyle s solitude and agony
in the beginning of the book almost extends throughout the whole story where we see him beat
himself to the ground with the hard put downs and mistreatment from others. A Flemish flake is a
spiral coil of one layer only. It is made on deck, so that it may be walked on if necessary. (Proulx 1)
This first quote of the story gives a brilliant narrative of the boneless person Quoyle is. Quoyle is a
powerful character who is unconfident, quiet, and an unloved person, who has been taught his whole
life that he is nothing short of a failure.
Quoyle is a man of few friends, and precedes a solitary and detached life in Mockingburg, New York.
Quoyle is chracterized by the author as a man who abstracted his life from the time (Proulx 11) He
falls in love, or so he thinks, to an unlikely equal called Petal, whom he ends up having an unfortunate
marriage with. She was with Quoyle out of pleasure and to use him for financial support. She cheated
on him repeatedly, and possessed no love for their two daughters, she sold them before running off
with a boyfriend and getting herself butchered in a car wreck in the process. In the author s vocabulary
of describing their unrighteous relationship, What he had was what he pretended (Proulx 14) Quoyle
is ruined notwithstanding the circumstance that she treated him like dirt and had no respect for him.
His whole world is astray after losing his terrible spouse and the recent deaths of his unloving parents
who anticipated him to arrange their funeral. Before he went, Quoyle s father went as far as to recite to
him how much of a disappointment he was. It is safe to say Quoyle was on his lowest of lows, that is
until his unpronounced Aunt Agnis Hamm reveals herself from out of the blue to take him to their
family s spot of origin, Killick Claw Newfoundland. It makes sense ,

Descriptive Essay About Winter
While all the season have their ups and downs, each season gives off its own tone to me. Let s start off
with my least favorite season: winter. The cold temperature of winter always reminds me of when I
got hit in the head with a golf club. It was a warm summer day in mid August. The smell of pollen and
honey floated through the air; the smell was so thick, I could taste it. The bright sun blared down on
me, and I could feel the intense heat radiating from it. The sound of birds chirping up in the thick
green tree, and a light breeze blowing was all I could hear. Everything was peaceful until out of
nowhere, one of my friends screams, Look out! just in time for me to turn around and see a golf club
come barreling towards my face. I had no time to move, because within an instant, I was on the
ground holding my forehead. This experience reminds me of winter because the transition from fall to
winter comes faster than a speeding bullet train. The cold especially reminds me of this, because
whenever I step outside from the warm comforts of my home; I always feel a blast of frigid cold air on
my face. The only good part about winter would be the joy of Christmas, days out of school from
snow, and getting to spend time with my family.
Spring on the other hand, is a lot warmer and more hopeful than winter. To me, spring is like when I
would wake up on Christmas as a young child. The sunlight beamed through a crack in my curtains,
waking me up. The sweet scent of cinnamon and

Steroids In Sports Analysis
Issues Analysis Anabolic Steroids in Sport
Anabolic steroids are quiet a big problem in the fitness industry, these drugs are a quick unsafe way to
achieve lean muscle mass. They are used in many competitive sports such as football, baseball and
Olympic type events it s of course prohibited and players are tested but it s not difficult for athletes to
avoid detection. One of the most controversial sports that anabolic steroids is involved with is
bodybuilding, the reason happens to be because of the drug testing policies which allow athletes to
build there muscle with the drug then a couple weeks before the competition the athletes cycle off so
that test results show that there clean. I think the reason that athletes are so obliged to take these
performance enhancing drugs might be peer pressure from coaches, parents, fellow athletes and even
family, for some people it s the idea of winning that drives them into taking these drugs.
One of the main reasons that this drug is prohibited along with being an effective performance
enhancer is its health risks. Athletes abusing this substance suffer from headaches, constant vomiting,
increased chance of physical injury, sleeping problems, high cholesterol and many other heart and
blood related conditions. Some people think the answer to these conditions is to cycle ... Show more

Isolation In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross
The author Sinclair Ross is implying that the natural landscape and the environment in The Painted
Door serve as a metaphor for Ann s sense of isolation. In the beginning of the story, Ann mentions that
There was a double wheel around the moon which leads Ann to believe that they could expect a storm
. Ann s uneasiness for the storm to come foreshadows the storm that would separate Ann and John,
leaving Ann all alone with nothing but her thoughts until Steven arrives. Ann later observes the distant
farmsteads which she believes serve to intensify a sense of isolation in Ann before John leaves. This is
a direct metaphor on John and Ann s relationship, John is being very distant in their relationship and
as a result Ann feels a sense of isolation in their relationship and that she wanted something of John
and not pretty clothes, when she would be too old to wear them . ... Show more content on

separated from John. The arrival of Steven in the story served to put at end of Ann s isolation as the

Television Censorship in the past was one drastic change in television history; censorship was also a
major television impact on society. From the 1930s to the 1940s TV was still very new and at in its
birthing years; making the amount of viewers of the television only a few thousand. At a 90 percent
rate TV has doubled its amount of viewers within just a decade making it more than 30 million
viewers. Sex, violence, drugs, and alcohol is a huge acceptance and popular culture and because of the
rise in these popular areas the FCC was born. The FCC also known as the Federal Communications
Commission was established in June of 1934 (CITE A WEBSITE). Although censorship may be a
broad topic, women on the other hand were a prime target for the FCC.
One of the major impacts that censorship has had on society was with women and minorities. Around
the era of WWII, a rise in childbirth also known as the baby boom era had a nationwide effect of
anxieties when it came to sex. In fact, in the 1950s a statue in Indiana for masturbation came into

Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker
Introduction: The Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker is experiencing an exponential year over year
growth rate of their premium product. This is a situation that all new businesses strive for and
although Scharffen Berger is pleased with their growth, they are facing a potential dilemma. The
company must consider how they will keep up with growing demand while having enough capacity to
handle the increase in production and maintain their high quality standards. In order to understand
how to meet the increased demand, research was conducted to unveil the problematic issues the ...

Pros: There are several benefits to opening a secondary production plant and warehouse: increased
output, savings on freight costs, close proximity to current retail shops, and the potential to open new
retail stores. The new facility will be an exact replication of the West Coast facility, with the exception
of offices, on sight retail outlet, and tour groups. The advantage of the East Coast facility being an
exact replication, Scharffen Berger will be able to forecast their exact yearly production output, in
which will be double to keep up with demand. Insert small chart here Opening a facility in Kentucky
allows the company to ship their products to the Scharffen Berger retail stores located in New York
City (Upper West Side and Greenwich Village), and other upscale department and retailers, such as
Trader Joes, located throughout the United States. This will save transit time and freight costs
substantially[2] .as compared to shipping directly from California to the stores. In a cost comparison
researched showed that there was a delta of $4,167.43 when shipping from the West Coast facility to
New York compared to shipping from the East Coast facility to New York. This opportunity to reduce
transit time can ensure the integrity of the chocolate to conceal the freshness. With a new

The Clash Of The Titans
THE CLASH OF THE TITANS
The War of 1812 The War of 1812 began as a result of a long fought war between Great Britain and
French forces led by Napoleon Bonaparte, that eventually infringed upon many of America s rights.
France and Great Britain had been fighting since 1793. Napoleon was a very powerful and determined
emperor who conquered much of Europe during the 19th century. The Royal Navy was very skilled at
naval combat and France had a strong and capable leader that was very skilled in war tactics. The
United States wanted the trade from both countries so it stayed neutral during the war. However, the
U.S. became a more active participant due to forced trade sanctions and Britain s impressment of
American seamen. The war is known as the War of 1812 because that is the year that America
declared war on Great Britain, but the war was actually started approximately three years earlier when
tensions between the Americans and the Indians escalated over westward territory expansion. Indian
problems, trade sanctions, impressment all fueled the start of the War of 1812. The Americans took a
neutral stance in this war and traded with both sides, Great Britain and France. Great Britain and
France both tried to stop the trade between the Americans and the other party, however, Great Britain
tried to restrict American trade with France by issuing the Orders in Council Act in 1807. This order
required companies to get a license before trading with France and French

BP Vs Exxon Fracking
The oil and gas industry has been a hot topic for most of my adult life. I was newly married when the
Exxon Valdez ran aground. I had two brothers working on off shore rigs in the Gulf of Mexico when
the BP Deepwater Horizon rig exploded. The world s dependence upon oil and gas has created a need
to find alternate energy and one of those ways is through fracking. Let us compare these oil disasters
and fracking, and first consider how managing ethical risk can reduce accidents, next compare the risk
that BP, Exxon, and the fracking industry face to continue to provide energy sources, and finally how
ethical leadership can help the oil and gas industry manage risk. The structure of business ethics is
voluntary, legal, and core practices. BP and Exxon had an obligation to act ethically in all three areas.
Exxon s 3rd mate was not license to pilot through Prince William Sound. The captain was drunk and
asleep and when he was awake and in charge he ignored the Coast Guard s recommendations. Exxon
knew the captain had issues with alcohol. The company hired to do the clean up was ill prepared, had
damaged equipment, and they also did not have enough equipment to handle the spill. By all
appearance BP presented an image ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
BP and Exxon have had to pay billions of dollars for damages, clean up and fines. Unfortunately risk
to drill for oil and gas will continue as will risk associate with fracking. Oil and gas are non renewal
energy sources. When they are gone, they are gone. To me this is the biggest risk of all. Some think
that fracking is less risky than drilling, but there are many unanswered questions associated with
fracking. Earthquakes in fracking areas are on the rise. The gas is in the ground for a reason and by
design, and to remove it without regard for safety considerations of replacing gas with liquid is

The During The Middle Ages
During the time in which Rome existed in the Middle Ages it accumulated an abundant amount of
land and wealth. The way that Rome accomplished this was by defeating the peoples that ruled the
land they wanted and incorporating them into their ever expanding empire. The reason the Romans
were so successful at doing this is because of their technological advances, logistical capabilities, and
ability to implement strategy efficiently and safely. These when put together allow an army during the
Middle ages to deploy consistently with high moral and low mortality. Romans dominated the
battlefield in almost every battle they fought during their 507 year reign, holding off barbarians
breaking down walls and holding the line in every battle they ... Show more content on

Their strategy allowed the Romans to effectively turtle through enemies, however when this was not
possible the Romans utilized strategies like the wedge in which a group of Romans rush at one point
in a wedge shape towards the defending enemies pressing through the lines and separating the enemy
formation dividing and conquering the enemy. This tactic was used against the Persians by Alexander
the Great back when the Greeks ruled most of the western world. With these things considered Rome
was by far the most strategic empire during combat. Roman weaponry alike their legions were a
collection of tools that Romans have refined continuously making them more and more effective.
Even though Romans had weapons they created on their own, many of the weapons in their arsenal
were adopted from previous foes and refined to make them more effective. A good example of this is
the Gladius, a common sword among roman legions almost every person had one was actually a
sword from Spain that the Romans found powerful. Other weapons that the Romans took in include
the pilum, javelin, ballista, crossbow, and hasta. Some strategies the Romans used were inspired by
the strategies of fallen enemies that the commander had seen and could implement correctly. The Idea
of the legion itself was originally Greek the Greek hoplites were technically the first part of a legion
and when the Romans expanded on it creating the legion it

The Household Circle Of India
1.The household circle in France and that of India display numerous similarities. However, it may be
that such is the case in most countries where families are kept together. In India, distant relatives like
grandparents and cousins either settle collectively or maintain a near distance if living separately.
Indians are not as likely as Americans to relocate away from their families and, when it is
economically possible, prefer to stay in the same geographic area. Though it seems that the French
differentiate from that of my own culture due to that fact that they maintain relations with those of the
enlarged household till the third or fourth generation. Also, on page 60 Au Contraire mentions that the
extended kinsfolk gather together for a Sunday lunch. This is generally not seen in India as members
of the lengthened household may reside adjacent to each other, but do not meet as often as the French.
Nonetheless, as an Indian American, my society maintains most of the aspects of the Indian
community and a little of the typical American culture. The French concept of the state of a young
adult is similar to my cultural structure due to the fact that the youth gravitate to stay nearby parents
until marriage in order to remain under their watchful eye and to refrain from an involvement of
morally disliked activities. Similarly, as mentioned on page 60 of the book Au Contraire, in France,
children attend universities in close proximity to their homes and lean to disapprove of

  • 2. Holiday Break Research Paper Over the holiday break, I did lots of fun things. I spent time with family, I hung out with friends, and I went to Branson. I really enjoyed the break and had tons of fun! For Christmas, we always meet up with my dad s side of the family the Saturday before Christmas and they all come over to my house. We ate dinner with them and opened up presents. On Christmas Eve morning, my family and I went to my church for a candlelight service. That night we also went to the candlelight service at Immanuel Baptist Church to meet up with some friends and family. After Immanuel s candlelight service was over I went to my great grandmother s house to eat dinner and open presents with some of my family members. When that was over, I went back over to my ... • 3. Essay on Prayer Should Be Allowed in Public Schools Prayer Should Be Allowed in Public Schools School prayer is a very controversial issue in today s society. The issue of school prayer is about whether the public school systems should let the students pray, at the start of the school day, as a class. The issue of school prayer began in the late sixteenth century when people in England did not approve of the way one religion was forced upon them, so the Puritans, known as the Pilgrims decided to come to the colonies. Even in the colonies the Pilgrims had problems with religion they had to sometimes resort to highly creative strategies in order to pray. When people were caught having a secret service they would have to face the consequences that the law enforced, whether it was going ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prayer should allowed in the public school system because prayer is an important part of America s rich spiritual heritage. All throughout the history of America there have been many important documents written of our country that have references to Almighty God, Thy Blessings, and Our dependence upon Thee. These include: the Declaration of Independence, the Gettysburg Address, the national anthem, and the presidential oath (Haas, 1995, p. 39). In school students always say the pledge, which states, One Nation Under God. A prayer says that students just want to ask for a good day and guidance throughout the day. Not only do important documents of our country refer to God but also the words In God We Trust are engraved on all coins minted and bills pressed in the United States (1995, p. 39). There are two parts of the American tradition and they are prayer and religion (1995, p. 39). If society keeps prayer out of the public schools, they are teaching the students that traditions are not important and that what this country was founded upon does not matter. Does society want to raise a group of young people to disrespect what their forefathers wanted; religious freedom? If that is the case then why do people try to keep this country working at its prime when trouble occurs? People do not want to see this nation fall but in the end it ... • 4. The Power Of Speech In Jane Austen s Persuasion At face value, Anne s speech in the published ending of Jane Austen s Persuasion seems to not quite follow with her quiet nature throughout most of the book. In the original unpublished conclusion to this book, Anne retains her standard silence that is her signature characteristic. However, with a modest amount of studying one will find Anne s remaining silent would not follow suit with her character s progression through the story. The reason though for her continued growth towards comfort in speech I believe to be directly tied to her continued growth back towards Captain Wentworth. Reading through this book we become accustomed to Anne being the silent character, leading us to feel like something is wrong when she begins to speak more and more. Due to this we are naturally drawn to question why Anne is speaking so much. More than this we must wonder, why Anne did not speak before this point? Throughout this book we are given enough information to see that Anne speaks much less in comparison to all the other characters, however we are never given anything to say why she is this way. One possible explanation that we find in Chapter 1 is this description of her relationship with her father and sisters, her word had no weight; her convenience was always to give way; she was only Anne. (Austen, 1817) This seems like quite enough to keep someone from speaking up as much, knowing that they would always get automatically shut down for being considered only Anne . This seems like a strange way for Anne s own family to treat her. Given, Sir Walter is not known for being the father of the year, but he at least treats his other two daughters with some form of fatherly love. The flaw in this though is that in the very last published chapter it is said that Sir Walter, indeed, though he had no affection for Anne, and no vanity flattered, to make him really happy on the occasion, was very far from thinking it a bad match for her. It is clearly stated that Sir Walter did not even have any affection towards his daughter Anne. This all lets us deny the idea of Sir Walter s view of his daughter affecting her reason for silence. The next possibility would be in her own sister s treatment of Anne. We see in the last ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Introduction: This unit is designed for a twelfth grade honors British literature class. These students are extremely gifted and will be taking the AP exam for college credit towards the end of the school year. The students will be learning about the dynamic and static characters in the book. They will be identifying how the dynamic character changes throughout the story and how the static characters stay the same. This is important because these students are undergoing major changes in their lives at this point; they will be attending college next year and taking a big leap into the somewhat unknown. I want the students to be able to see the difference between change and what is stagnant. The students will also be able to chart the progression, or lack thereof in the main characters. • 7. Euro Disney 1 Introduction – Euro Disney s Plans and Reality When the International Offer of Shares for the Euro Disneyland S.C.A. (in the following called Euro Disney) was published in October 1989 the plans for this new enterprise of the Walt Disney group were ambiguous. The financial plans for the first year of operation projected total revenues of FF 5,482 million and a net profit after taxation of FF 204 million. For the following years the development should be even more impressive. At that time the plans were seen as a consequent application of the concepts of the existing Disney designed theme parks.[1] Just a short time after Euro Disney was opened in time on April 1992 it was obvious that reality would not meet the plans. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For this reasons all conclusions given below should be evaluated carefully. For a more detailed analysis additional information would be necessary[4]. To be able to make a general statement this report will compare the plans for the first and second year of operation with the financial years ending September 30th 1992 and 1993. At least the last one will provide the opportunity to compare two periods of twelve months of operation. This comparison is provided in appendices 1 to 3. With a stress on the second year – as explained above – the following conclusions can be drawn: · In the first year Euro Disney nearly met expectations for revenues and operating expenses of the Magic Kingdom. With no operating profit from the resort and property development sector and higher than planned general and administrative costs it failed to meet the profit projection by FF 392 Mio. · In the second year again revenues from the Magic Kingdom reached the planned level but operating expenses for this exceeded plans so that the operating profit was below expectations. · Again there was no significant operating profit from the resort and property development operations. · Lease, general and administrative expenses far exceeded plans. · As a result the profit before exceptional profit and taxation missed plans by FF 2,332 Mio. • 8. How Do Recent Legislative Developments Affect The British... When critically analysing how recent legislative developments have affected the British Constitution, there are many different aspects to take into consideration. We need to consider the nature of the British Constitution, which has been widely accepted as uncodified, being found in Acts of Parliament, Court Judgements and Conventions. Whilst there is no written document forming the Constitution, there are understood to be governing principles. These include the need for the separation of powers and Parliamentary sovereignty. Three primary legislative developments affecting these principles are: The separation of powers within the United Kingdom, the Legislature, the Judiciary and the Executive, have been made much clearer over the years, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main issue that should first be outlined is that it can be argued that the Human Rights Act causes an imbalance. The Act favours the judiciary over both the executive and the legislature as it gives the judiciary the power to impose their authority over the other two. Section 3 of the Act gives the judiciary the power to read and give effect to primary and secondary legislation in a way which will be most compatible with the Convention Rights. This puts the judiciary in a sufficiently decent position when interpreting legislation passed by the executive and the legislature due to the Act allowing them to declare incompatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights and therefore negating the provision in question. The case of R v A demonstrates the challenges that other legislation has faced due to the ability for the judiciary to declare incompatibility. This was due to section 41 of the Youth Justice and Criminal Evidence Act 1999 restricting the admissibility at trial of evidence relating to the sexual behaviour of those who made allegations of rape. The aim of Parliament was clearly to prevent making the victim uncomfortable by being asked questions of sexual history which could impact willingness to report crime and the prospects of a successful prosecution. Milk is not a very high interest item in people s lives. It s a staple, said Jeff Goodby, creator of the slogan. Although milk is not new, not improved, and generally considered boring, the Got Milk? ads are stunningly effective because of its simplicity, use of celebrities, and broad audience reach. The best slogans, San Diego State University marketing professor George Belch says, don t require consumers to do too much thinking, but they shouldn t be blanket statements, either. Got Milk? is not only simple, but it motivates the consumer. The message is: always have milk around. The Got Milk? campaign did it with humor and suddenly it became cool to drink milk. What helped push it even further was using the celebrity cachet. By utilizing that, awareness of drinking milk has increased by 90% since its early 90 s launch. According to Schiavone, Spartacus had something different in mind, which prompted him to pursue a specific goal to build an army and continue to fight (41). Many will procrastinate about this but in the end there will be an outcome with what will happen as far as building a border wall. There are many Pros and Cons to this single objective. Starting off with a Pro, Many say this is a racist act or a sign of weakness coming from our President Donald Trump. But in some cases this is an essential thing for the United States to do. This wall too many is wrong to do because our media has a big head on racial point along society today. In the long run a wall could be really beneficial as a commodity for the security of our great nation. Jeff Corwin stated that If this border wall actually happens, it will be an environmental catastrophe. Essentially, what it s doing is cutting through nature s bridge, which connects Central America to North America and South America. Which in many cases this can be supported but then again many people work very hard to become a citizen in the United States for many to come across the border to get here illegally and to most this is unfair. To make another main statement given the rising global instability in North Korea and the Middle East with a strong and supportive border it would be harder for terrorist to get their hands on biological, chemical or radiological weapons. With an insecure border it makes it easier for them to bring them into the United States and launch a devastating attack on the United States. A big Con that has many thinking is who ... Overclocking is setting your CPU and memory so that it will run faster than the recommended manufacturer speed. When you overclock your computer, there are some precautions that you will want to take: 1) Overclocking will cause your computer to run much warmer so it is required that it has good ventilation. 2) If you notice that your computer is starting to run too hot, you need to better ventilate the computer, or just dial down the overclocking a little bit until it reaches safe temperatures. 3) The speed of the CPU and memory should be slowly increased. If the speed is increased too much then the computer may not start, or it may become unstable and crash. Another feature that some CPU s have is called Hyper Threading. This is a process in which a single CPU acts like two separate CPU s. It splits each core in half, so that it can perform multitasking a little bit faster. A common misconception is that Hyper Threading is the same as just doubling the cores, and this is not true. The number of cores are doubled, but not the power of the cores. The power of the cores are split in half. Hyper Threading does not have a substantial influence in the speed of the computer, but it will help a little when multitasking. Directly before the incident, Amir [catches] a glimpse of Hassan s face, and describes his face as holding resignation in it (76). In this quote, Amir is referring to the sheep that he witnesses the mullah kill on a Muslim holiday, the tenth day of Dhul Hijjah, which he and his family celebrate every year. • 20. Biofuels And Alternative Sources Of Energy Introduction Biofuels, derived from living organisms rather than petroleum laden rock, are the focus of current energy research. The need for biofuels and alternative sources of energy will be necessary as the earth s resources begin to diminish. In cohesion with this concern, the current uses of fossil fuels are a concern as the environment pays an incredible toll for our overuse of this resource. Many have attempted to replace petroleum fuel with the first generation biofuels would require diverting farmland and crops for biofuel production, causing economic and ethical problems and competing with world food supply (Zhang et. al., 2011). The production of these biofuels have a negative effect on the environment, as a backdrop of rising crude oil prices, depletion of resources, and political instability in producing countries, only biomass has the potential to replace the supply of an energy hungry civilization (Antoni et. al., 2007). This is proof that it is crucial to begin to create biofuels that have a lesser negative impact that can sustain the energy demands that we have today. Currently, as seen in the table, microbes have been proven to produce ethanol, biodiesel and hydrogen, which are all sources that can be used for producing renewable fuels. She was also born with a severe mental and physical handicap called Cerebral Palsy. It is a condition that occurs when the brain hasn t completely developed at birth, in Julie s case she was born prematurely and was also a twin, making her even smaller and more frail at birth. Julie was born not breathing and the doctors couldn t get her to start breathing for 5 minutes after she was born. She is now in her early fifties, but only has the mental capability of a 78 year old child. She has been in a wheelchair for her whole life and never even taken one step, she also has very minimal control of her arms and hands. Julie also has a very hard time controlling her temper and her emotions, I can only assume that it is because she feels as though she is trapped in her own body and will never be able to get out of it and feel free. Julie has this crazy love for Nascar and has never missed watching a race. Everyone has their little obsessions, for my six year old nephew it is toy cars, my older brother it is playing the guitar, for me it is Cadbury Eggs, but for Julie it is Nascar races and the Nascar driver Dale Earnhardt JR. In 2013 my mom and I had decided to take Julie to go see the Daytona 500 in Daytona Florida. This was such a huge deal for Julie because she had never been out of the state of Utah let alone on a plane halfway across the country, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. A Critical Evaluation of the Deductive Argument from Evil Critically Evaluate the Deductive Argument from Evil Logically, can Evil and the three O God co exist in this universe? The deductive argument from evil says they cannot. In this essay I will explain the argument and analyze why it is valid but unsound. I will do this by discussing fallacious nature of the premise that if God were omnipotent and knew he could prevent the existence of evil without sacrificing some greater good he would then necessarily prevent it. The essay will propose the following evaluation of the deductive argument from Evil: that each premise logically follows from its antecedent, but that the concepts in the premises themselves are not entirely understood and can be refuted. God s Omni benevolence, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An even further analysis of the issue of misinterpretation of Omni benevolence, or false assumptions about God s nature, is the claim that the deductive argument from evil contains a referential fallacy; presuming that all words refer to existing things and that their meaning lies in what the refer to. This claim of the unsound nature of the argument asserts that the deductive argument from evil fallaciously assumes the idea of Omni benevolence is defined by existing ideas and worldly concepts of all good nature . It is logically possibly, however, that God s perfect goodness is beyond man s understanding and cannot be defined by actions or non actions relating to the evil of this world. Thus leading to the false conviction that God need necessarily eliminate all evil from the world in order to be inherently good. These forms of counter arguments to the deductive explanation of evil s non compatibility with God can be refuted. The following are defenses for the deductive argument that support the primary understanding of God s Omni benevolence as mandating the elimination of all existing evil. Firstly, Omni benevolence is a description of God s absolutely good nature and entails that God desires everything that is good. This desire to bring about good things also means a desire to prevent evil things from happening. Hence God s good nature doesn t need to necessarily lead to no omission of good actions, but it does lead to the necessary idea that God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The students must be willingness to learn and their enthusiasm for discovering knowledge and developing understanding would tell where students are when learning. Madison has been ratified by time and practice and has become a cornerstone of the larger constitutional system Marbury, of course, stands only for the proposition that judges can declare acts of Congress invalid. In subsequent cases Marshall asserted that judges could also declare invalid executive orders or actions (Little v. Barreme, 1804 ) and upheld the Judiciary Act of 1789, under which Congress gave the Supreme Cour power to review and reserve decisions upholding the constitutionality of state statutes (Martin v. Through the end of the 1990s, the Supreme Court has invalidated nearly 140 federal statutes and some 1,200 local laws . State courts too, with their own power to strike down acts passed within their jurisdiction, are active monitors of their governments. One scholar estimates that state justices invalidate nearly 25 percent of all laws challenged in their court rooms. Character Analysis Of The Novel The Shipping News Among all the characters of the novel The Shipping News, Quoyle endures the most powerful change and provides the one of a kind strength that drives the story onward. He is the insecure protagonist of the tale, whose self esteem is the feature that limits him the most. In the progress of his transition as a character he not only spares himself, but his troubled family line as well. Quoyle s solitude and agony in the beginning of the book almost extends throughout the whole story where we see him beat himself to the ground with the hard put downs and mistreatment from others. A Flemish flake is a spiral coil of one layer only. It is made on deck, so that it may be walked on if necessary. (Proulx 1) This first quote of the story gives a brilliant narrative of the boneless person Quoyle is. Quoyle is a powerful character who is unconfident, quiet, and an unloved person, who has been taught his whole life that he is nothing short of a failure. Quoyle is a man of few friends, and precedes a solitary and detached life in Mockingburg, New York. Quoyle is chracterized by the author as a man who abstracted his life from the time (Proulx 11) He falls in love, or so he thinks, to an unlikely equal called Petal, whom he ends up having an unfortunate marriage with. She was with Quoyle out of pleasure and to use him for financial support. She cheated on him repeatedly, and possessed no love for their two daughters, she sold them before running off with a boyfriend and getting herself butchered in a car wreck in the process. In the author s vocabulary of describing their unrighteous relationship, What he had was what he pretended (Proulx 14) Quoyle is ruined notwithstanding the circumstance that she treated him like dirt and had no respect for him. His whole world is astray after losing his terrible spouse and the recent deaths of his unloving parents who anticipated him to arrange their funeral. Before he went, Quoyle s father went as far as to recite to him how much of a disappointment he was. The cold temperature of winter always reminds me of when I got hit in the head with a golf club. It was a warm summer day in mid August. The smell of pollen and honey floated through the air; the smell was so thick, I could taste it. The bright sun blared down on me, and I could feel the intense heat radiating from it. The sound of birds chirping up in the thick green tree, and a light breeze blowing was all I could hear. Everything was peaceful until out of nowhere, one of my friends screams, Look out! just in time for me to turn around and see a golf club come barreling towards my face. I had no time to move, because within an instant, I was on the ground holding my forehead. This experience reminds me of winter because the transition from fall to winter comes faster than a speeding bullet train. The cold especially reminds me of this, because whenever I step outside from the warm comforts of my home; I always feel a blast of frigid cold air on my face. The only good part about winter would be the joy of Christmas, days out of school from snow, and getting to spend time with my family. Ann s uneasiness for the storm to come foreshadows the storm that would separate Ann and John, leaving Ann all alone with nothing but her thoughts until Steven arrives. • 44. The Clash Of The Titans THE CLASH OF THE TITANS The War of 1812 The War of 1812 began as a result of a long fought war between Great Britain and French forces led by Napoleon Bonaparte, that eventually infringed upon many of America s rights. France and Great Britain had been fighting since 1793. Napoleon was a very powerful and determined emperor who conquered much of Europe during the 19th century. The Royal Navy was very skilled at naval combat and France had a strong and capable leader that was very skilled in war tactics. The United States wanted the trade from both countries so it stayed neutral during the war. However, the U.S. became a more active participant due to forced trade sanctions and Britain s impressment of American seamen. The war is known as the War of 1812 because that is the year that America declared war on Great Britain, but the war was actually started approximately three years earlier when tensions between the Americans and the Indians escalated over westward territory expansion. Indian problems, trade sanctions, impressment all fueled the start of the War of 1812. The Americans took a neutral stance in this war and traded with both sides, Great Britain and France. Great Britain and France both tried to stop the trade between the Americans and the other party, however, Great Britain tried to restrict American trade with France by issuing the Orders in Council Act in 1807. This order required companies to get a license before trading with France and French ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. BP Vs Exxon Fracking The oil and gas industry has been a hot topic for most of my adult life. I was newly married when the Exxon Valdez ran aground. I had two brothers working on off shore rigs in the Gulf of Mexico when the BP Deepwater Horizon rig exploded. The world s dependence upon oil and gas has created a need to find alternate energy and one of those ways is through fracking. Let us compare these oil disasters and fracking, and first consider how managing ethical risk can reduce accidents, next compare the risk that BP, Exxon, and the fracking industry face to continue to provide energy sources, and finally how ethical leadership can help the oil and gas industry manage risk. The structure of business ethics is voluntary, legal, and core practices. BP and Exxon had an obligation to act ethically in all three areas. Exxon s 3rd mate was not license to pilot through Prince William Sound. The captain was drunk and asleep and when he was awake and in charge he ignored the Coast Guard s recommendations. Exxon knew the captain had issues with alcohol. The company hired to do the clean up was ill prepared, had damaged equipment, and they also did not have enough equipment to handle the spill. By all appearance BP presented an image ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... BP and Exxon have had to pay billions of dollars for damages, clean up and fines. Unfortunately risk to drill for oil and gas will continue as will risk associate with fracking. Oil and gas are non renewal energy sources. When they are gone, they are gone. To me this is the biggest risk of all. Some think that fracking is less risky than drilling, but there are many unanswered questions associated with fracking. Earthquakes in fracking areas are on the rise. The gas is in the ground for a reason and by design, and to remove it without regard for safety considerations of replacing gas with liquid is ... • 46. The During The Middle Ages During the time in which Rome existed in the Middle Ages it accumulated an abundant amount of land and wealth. The way that Rome accomplished this was by defeating the peoples that ruled the land they wanted and incorporating them into their ever expanding empire. The reason the Romans were so successful at doing this is because of their technological advances, logistical capabilities, and ability to implement strategy efficiently and safely. These when put together allow an army during the Middle ages to deploy consistently with high moral and low mortality. Romans dominated the battlefield in almost every battle they fought during their 507 year reign, holding off barbarians breaking down walls and holding the line in every battle they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their strategy allowed the Romans to effectively turtle through enemies, however when this was not possible the Romans utilized strategies like the wedge in which a group of Romans rush at one point in a wedge shape towards the defending enemies pressing through the lines and separating the enemy formation dividing and conquering the enemy. This tactic was used against the Persians by Alexander the Great back when the Greeks ruled most of the western world. With these things considered Rome was by far the most strategic empire during combat. Roman weaponry alike their legions were a collection of tools that Romans have refined continuously making them more and more effective. Even though Romans had weapons they created on their own, many of the weapons in their arsenal were adopted from previous foes and refined to make them more effective. A good example of this is the Gladius, a common sword among roman legions almost every person had one was actually a sword from Spain that the Romans found powerful. Other weapons that the Romans took in include the pilum, javelin, ballista, crossbow, and hasta. Some strategies the Romans used were inspired by the strategies of fallen enemies that the commander had seen and could implement correctly. The Idea of the legion itself was originally Greek the Greek hoplites were technically the first part of a legion and when the Romans expanded on it creating the legion it ... • 47. The Household Circle Of India 1.The household circle in France and that of India display numerous similarities. However, it may be that such is the case in most countries where families are kept together. In India, distant relatives like grandparents and cousins either settle collectively or maintain a near distance if living separately. Indians are not as likely as Americans to relocate away from their families and, when it is economically possible, prefer to stay in the same geographic area. Though it seems that the French differentiate from that of my own culture due to that fact that they maintain relations with those of the enlarged household till the third or fourth generation. Also, on page 60 Au Contraire mentions that the extended kinsfolk gather together for a Sunday lunch. This is generally not seen in India as members of the lengthened household may reside adjacent to each other, but do not meet as often as the French. Nonetheless, as an Indian American, my society maintains most of the aspects of the Indian community and a little of the typical American culture. The French concept of the state of a young adult is similar to my cultural structure due to the fact that the youth gravitate to stay nearby parents until marriage in order to remain under their watchful eye and to refrain from an involvement of morally disliked activities. Similarly, as mentioned on page 60 of the book Au Contraire, in France, children attend universities in close proximity to their homes and lean to disapprove of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
