Prince Carl of Solms Braunfels, was a key figure in the establishment of German
culture in Texas. Despite being in Texas for only one year, Prince Carl of Solms
Braunfels was able to leave a lasting legacy of German culture and traditions through
the town of New Braunfels.
Early Life
Born on July 27, 1812 to Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Solms Braunfels and Princess
Friederike of Mecklenburg Strelitz, Friedrich Wilhelm Karl Ludwig Georg Alfred
Alexander, known as Prince Carl, was brought up in a wealthy noble family. He
was educated as a soldier and courtier, and was fluent in three different languages.
As with most nobles of the time, Prince Carl had an illustrious family tree and
many connections. Because of this, he received important military assignments and
awards. In 1834, he secretly married Luise Auguste Stephanie Beyrich, a woman of
lesser status. This was considered a disgrace and not fit for a prince, so in 1841, he
annulled his marriage to Luise after being pressured to by his family. While serving
in the cavalry of the Austrian Army, Prince Carl stumbled upon G.A. Schrepf s guide
to Texas immigrants, Charles Sealsfield s novel about Texas, and William Kennedy s
Texas: Its Geography, Natural History, and Topography. This sparked an interest of
Texas in the adventurous, charismatic prince.

but normal. Children were classified by their families social group which they had
no part in. Children had a lot of different stages in their lives and were put through
difficulties that would be hard to achieve as a child. Their daily lives varied among
their social statusand family status. Their education, work, play, and many other
things were affected by their family s social status. Infancy was a challenging time
in Medieval Europe as many of them did not make it due to malnutrition and poor
living conditions. Living conditions were not ideal for some families due to the
income that was coming in. The income was usually not a big portion which made
it hard to provide for children and a family. Children had to provide and fend for
themselves in some situations. Mothers were also at risk when they gave birth to
children due to weak bodies and malnutrition. Providing for the child was often

In contrast, the type of inquire based approach that is taught in some of the SKE
lessons at University of Sussex allows the student to understand why a method
works and encourage a comprehension of the mechanics behind the steps taken to
solve a problem. Personally, I have noticed that as I gain confidence in my
mathematical ability, these sessions become more enjoyable. Still, to achieve
confidence and be able to follow these lessons, I need to familiarize myself with a
method beforehand. For me this is most effectively achieved by solving series of
example problems by a given sequence of steps before embarking on a journey of
understanding the reasoning behind each step. These inquiry based lessons,

School budgets are being cut lower and lower year by year. For the past 6 years, after
the recession, the funding for education has decreased tremendously. The new
budgets are providing less per pupil funding to kindergarten through 12th grade. At
the same, the nation wants graduates to excel in their technical and analytical skill
but the decrease in educational funds are contradicting and raise concern. The budget

causative organism for this infection is an encapsulated Streptococcus agalactiae.
Streptococcus agalactie is a gram positive spherical bacterium that can be found
within the reproductive, gastrointestinal tract and rectum. Although it is not a
sexually transmitted infection, this type of bacterium cause harm to the fetus during
pregnancy. It comes and goes throughout a persons lifetime and does not show

body. As we travel through four of the eleven organ systems, you will be shocked

Connective tissue binds sores together and insulates. Nervous tissue makes up the
nervous system, or the brain and spinal cord. It helps the body to communicate with

How sport is presented and supported today can mean total success or deep failure
tomorrow. Every year the government of Canada provides money for athletics
through three programs all of which add up to around $256 million, but that is only
going towards the athletes, not even the facilities. The average cost to build a new
professional facility is $6 billion, and to build a simple recreational center it costs
$5.7 million. Contractors and businessmen set budgets before building anything new
but the budgets always rise; regions get no economic boost from spending money on
tickets and building projects and spectators are becoming uninterested in watching

There are many taxpayers willing to donate money to sports industry for support to
athletes and everything else involved. Everybody else that does not enjoy or want
things to do with sports should not be paying for the people that do. Many citizens,
due to ticket prices, never get to use those facilities in the first place, so they shouldn
t have to help pay to have them built. These leagues make millions, if not billions of
dollars a year they should build the stadiums with their own funds found on Debate. A
stadium will bring benefits to the city or town as a whole and employ more people.
When a new stadium is built usually it means the old one was dated or the city
wanted something new and shiny, when opening the same people are being hired
to run the new one as the one prior to it so really new people are not being
employed. Sports teams are making enough money to build their own stadiums if
needed so cities do not really need to help them. Canada should not be using taxpayer
dollars to run new facilities and support

The Issue Of Gun Ownership
As time has progressed, the issue of gun ownership has become more and more of a
debate. With the development of new technology that can lead to devastating
destruction, it is extremely difficult to overlook the harm that this weaponry could
ensue on the safety of our nation. As stated in the second amendment of the
constitution of the United States, The right of the people to keep and bear Arms,
shall not be infringed. ( The Constitution of the United States: A Transcription ) The
framers, however, could never have known the potential for destruction that our
present weaponry can cause. So, the question to this day has been, to what degree
should the infringement of our right to bear arms be prevented? There are many
different possible answers to this question, however, to me, only one answer seems
to stand above the rest. The government of the United States, in order to uphold the
rights for the general good of the majority of United States citizens, should infringe
on this right to the degree necessary in order to provide the utmost amount of safety
for their people while continuing to recognize the original intentions of the framers.
This theory, although broad, I believe is necessary in order to get the greatest
amount of satisfaction for the population as a whole. In the present day, many
people believe that automatic weapons should be outlawed, as they have no greater
use than for mass killings of people. This is a reasonable opinion, as it is true that
