The world witnessed an incredible
milestone in the field of medical
innovation, as a painter from Delhi
endured a transformative bilateral hand
transplant. The surgery was conducted
at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi.
The patient lost both of his hands by a
tragic train accident resulting in the
drastic shift in his life. Dr. Mahesh
Mangal and Dr. Nikhil Jhunjhunwala
have successfully led a skilled team,
comprising over 20 surgeons, where the
complex 12-hour surgery was conducted
in which the team connected arteries,
muscles, tendons, and nerves with the
help of a donor’s hands to the Painter’s
arms. This radical technique
marks an important breakthrough
in the Medical space in India. As
for the painter, now he will be on
the journey of regaining therapy
after being discharged from
observation for significant days.
The current status
Worth noting, this is a great
reminder of the Organ donation
need in India where there is a
great conquest depending on the
same. Although when we talk about
Delhi’s count on observing 11 cadaver
donations in 2022, which resulted in the
salvage of 30 organs, the country is in
dearth of the donors.
This is also a matter of cultural beliefs
and perception of the masses that
defines the number as only 0.1% of
the population opting for posthumous
organ donation, whereas compared to
the Western countries it amounts to 70%.
This contrast in organ donations when
compared requires great attention and
need to inform the masses about the
importance of Organ donations.

Rajkumar who is a 45-year-old recipient,
he went through a life-changing organ
donation procedure and medical
progress. He survived through these
years with artificial arms since the traffic
train accident in 2020 until this miracle
happened. Behind the paving, the way
for Rajkumar’s life-changing surgery
is the compassionate step by Meena
Mehta’s family to donate her organs,
including her hands, whose other
donated organs have saved the lives of
three other people in the past. Rajkumar
is being observed in the hospital for
six weeks, now he is on the verge of
starting a new chapter of his life ahead,
which also offers courage and hope to
numerous people who thought of organ
transplants to lead a good life.
Indeed, his story demonstrates the
importance of Organ donation in India,
which has the ability to put light into
other’s life misfortune to a new chapter
with purpose.
In view of AI penetrating various industries and taking
over job roles, India welcomed its first AI teacher - IRIS, at a
school in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram. This occurrence has
seized global attention into the futuristic education system.

WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE?
The launch of Iris at Kerala’s KTCT Higher Secondary School
was met with great excitement and anticipation. In a video
shared on Instagram, the robot was introduced by Dr. K
Rajeev, Director of the Space Physics Laboratory (SPL) of
VSSC, on the platform of the premises, highlighting its skills
and interactions with students, and faculties of the Institution.
During the demonstration, It was noticed that Iris can
move, interact, and answer students’ queries, which proves to be
important in the classroom. With zero absenteeism by the students
in the classes, there has been a remarkable increase in attendance,
conducted by Iris. Iris is provisioned to teach a variety of subjects,
according to the educational needs of students, from nursery to
Class 12th.
THE CAPABILITIES
Iris is currently proficient in English, Hindi, and Malayalam,
with an aim to increase its language capabilities to over 20
languages. More to add, to safeguard the students from exposure
to detrimental matters such as drugs and violence, Iris is equipped
with an inappropriate content blocker.
To enhance the significance and approachability of education in
India, with the help of AI technology, the launch of Iris signifies
a crucial step. Iris proclaims a new era of education that is
transformative with its capability to engage with students and
adjust to their individual requirements.
A new wave of excitement for passengers traversing across
Hoogly River in Kolkata was seen after PM Modi inaugurated
Esplanade-Howrah and enticing images of fish have
transformed the inaugural ride of India’s first underwater
metro into a surreal experience for passengers traversing
beneath the Hooghly River in Kolkata. The unveiling of
this unique metro route in Kolkata is a perfect blend of
technological marvel and artistic finesse.
The train delved into the river through a tunnel. During
its pilot departure, passengers eagerly peered through the
windows, hoping to catch a glimpse of real aquatic life.
However, what greeted them was a spectacle of beautifully
crafted paintings depicting vibrant marine life illuminated by
aquatic blue lights. All the riders were in awe where many
expressed their amazement to see a realistic portrayal of the
underwater world.
A student from Alipore Kendriya Vidyalaya, Piyush, shared
his experience, “The paintings of fishes and the lights have
been done so beautifully that for a moment I thought it was
real. It was just awesome.” Supreet Kaur, a teacher who
accompanied the students on this historic ride stated the
cultural significance of the trip. Well, the students showcased
their love for Kolkata through artistic expressions.
Prime Minister Modi also reflected on his experience
where he emphasised the significance of the project in
enhancing connectivity and alleviating traffic congestion. He
commended the collective effort of the youth and workers
involved in the project. He added that it underscored the
pivotal role of ‘Jan Shakti’ in driving progress.
The East-West Metro Corridor project spans from Sector V in Salt
Lake to Howrah Maidan, covering a distance of 16.6 km, with 10.8
km underground. While operational in segments, its completion
promises to streamline mass transportation in Kolkata, benefiting
commuters and easing urban mobility challenges.
Kausik Mitra, the Chief Public Relation Officer of Kolkata Metro
Railways, highlighted the corridor’s potential in enhancing
connectivity between Howrah and Sealdah railway stations, two
bustling hubs. He emphasised the role of the metro in alleviating
traffic congestion, improving air quality, and transforming the
city’s mass transport landscape.
The inauguration of India’s first underwater metro heralds a new
era of transportation infrastructure, blending innovation with
aesthetic appeal, and poised to redefine Kolkata’s urban commute
experience for generations to come.
The world is commemorating International women’s day and
PM Modi has announced a big gift to the housemakers out
there. This deeply resonates with both economic relief and
gender-centric policies as mentioned by the honourable Prime
Minister Narendra. On 8th March, he announced a substantial
reduction in the prices of domestic gas cylinders which was a big
decision aimed at easing the financial burdens faced by people
living below the poverty line. So far, a notable ₹100 reduction
in the costs of these essential commodities would make a huge
difference to the budget of a common man.

The origin story
Ashneer was born on June 14, 1982, in Delhi. He hails from a family where his father served as a Chartered Accountant,
and his mother worked as a teacher. Needless to say, with both parents in reputable professions, the family thrived
that allowed Ashneer to pursue his education at institutions like IIT and IIM.
Ashneer’s wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, is a successful entrepreneur who owns Mauve and Brown. The brand is a
resounding success in the furnishing business based in New Delhi. Apart from Ashneer and Shashvat, Madhuri
played a crucial role in the success of BharatPe. She supervised HR, finance, and internal operations until her
involvement in alleged financial fraud led to her termination by the Board. But these complexities didn’t stop the
couple from thriving and they were blessed with two children.
Despite a robust educational and career foundation, Ashneer Grover came across a myriad of challenges along

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Traditionally, during the first wave of e-innovation technology firms practiced a “waterfall” type model. Firms would raise a large
amount of capital and then proceed to complete a number of long sequential tasks; such as hiring an RD team, defining product
requirements, defining the development and production architectures, and then finally engineering and deploying the product.
Such a process was slow, cumbersome, and fraught with many risks.
As a result of these challenges, many failed to deliver value back to their investors. A trio of experienced technologists started
reimagining the supply chain of software innovation, and on the heels of the early 2000’s, soon after the internet bubble burst,
Accion was born.
Founded in 2011 in the beautiful city of Pittsburgh, Accion
Labs envisioned a better way of building commercial/scalable
products in which the “innovators” used the “building blocks”
of software and focused on assembling solutions versus

companies were already operating in this manner. Accion
