My First Day Of Math
I am writing to you to talk about the complicated semester I have had in Math.
Our first day of math we talked about the Handshake Problem. We needed to figure out how many
handshakes there would be in our class of sixteen students but we could not shake the same hands
twice. Our class got in a circle began to model out the problem by shaking each other s hand but
then we had to figure out a formula. A common method that I have used throughout the whole
semester is making a table. I made a table and was able to make the conclusion that the number of
handshakes were increasing by counting numbers. By that time class had ended and for
homework we needed to come up with a formula for this problem and reflect. When I first tried
to find an equation for this problem is 16 x 15 = 240. This equation did not work because I was
counting for shaking the same handshakes twice. If I would have divided it 240 by 2 I would
have got 120 and that would have been the correct answer. After careful discuss, in class and out
of class thinking our final conclusion was that the formula was n(n 1)/2. N is for the number of
people that come into the room. N 1 is the one less hand the next person will have to shake from
the previous person. This equation worked for any number of people that needed to shake hands.

evidence informed, promising practice used to treat complex trauma in children and adolescents

youth who have been diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. The goal of this research is to
demonstrate that symptoms of ODD can be decreased by exposing inner city youth to ARC
therapy over a period of time. The target population is inner city youth in Chattanooga, TN who
are diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder. 50 students were chosen at random at inner
city schools in the area. 25 of the youth will be exposed to the therapy, while 25 will not be

span of 6 months. After the 6 month period, the behaviors will be rated again and compared to the

shown in the previous labs, bacteria can grow and create colonies extremely quickly especially in
the right environments. By acknowledging this, it is then important to get an understanding of how

In this particular film Harold was very interested in death, and because of this he attempted many
fake suicide attempts as a cry for help and attention. When Harold meets a woman named Maude,
she teaches him many life lessons and the importance of living life to the fullest. In turn Harold
opens up to her about his thoughts and feelings and the two of them become great friends. This
film relates to She s Come Undone because just like Harold, Dolores battled her own issues and
attempted suicide. Both of these characters meet people who help them understand that life is
worth living no matter the struggles or hardships we face. With Harold, there was Maude and
for Dolores, there was Dr. Shaw. Dr. Frost mentioned something in the notes that I believe helped
both of these characters get through there hard times and that is: One of the most powerful and
saving emotions is laughter. It helps keep us healthy both emotionally and physically. We can
literally laugh our way out of illness! During the talks with Maude and the therapy sessions with
Dr. Shaw, both Harold and Dolores were able to laugh through their troubles. As I mentioned
before, I really enjoyed this course because it gave me a different perspective on what to look for
when watching films and read books. She s Come Undone was a great book the first time I read it
