Overthrow Of Allende In Chile Essay
Part A: Plan of Investigation
Research Question: To what extent was the involvement of the United States government and the
CIA responsible for the 1973 Overthrow of Allende in Chile? The investigation analyses the 1973
overthrow of Allende in Chile during the Cold War. Since the 1973 military coup of President
Allende, many historians have argued that Allende was overthrown due to his failed economic
policy, while others say it was because of the United States interventions. To understand the
Overthrow of Allende in Chile, this examination focuses on why the United States considered
Allende dangerous, the US Central Intelligence Agency s (CIA s) tactics on the coup, and the
failed economic policy of Salvador Allende. The US expenses to destabilize the Chilean economy,
Allende s failed economic policy, and Allende s act of expropriating the United States led
businesses without compensation in Chile are evaluated to determine the extent of ... Show more

The most established and significant argument is that Allende s downfall was caused by both the
instability in the Chilean economy, and the economic blockade from the secret activities carried out
by the United States Central Intelligence Agency. The CIA sided with the military and the military
leader, Pinochet, of Chile for the coup, and the United States had spent millions of money to
destabilize the Chilean economy. The military coup to overthrow Allende was successful, and the
military general, Pinochet, became the new leader of Chile. When Pinochet became the leader of
Chile, the United States provided Chile with huge amounts of economic aid as compared to the aid
given to the country during Allende s

exponentially in every area like Aviation, Satellite, Stock Market, Research, Social Media, Retail
Industry etc., more and more techniques and discoveries are taking place to collect and process
vast amounts of data in shorter interval of time. In order to significantly improve progress in those
areas, scalable and high performance IT infrastructures are needed to deal with the high volume,
velocity and variety of data.
On the other hand, every part of our day to day usage of electronic devices generate some amount
of data in its fashion. Companies grew in rapid phase to collect each piece of data generated by
the people to use for their analytics to study and predict customer willingness towards the products.
Emerging technologies and techniques are introducing day by day to identify new optimal ways to
predict customer interests. Data generated are to be collected on the fly and provide insights to
help business leaders to take better decisions.
As Big Data problems evolve, each application have its own characteristics with respect to their data
and analysis process. Firstly, besides the huge amount of historical data, streaming data plays an
important role. For instance, GPS ground stations do monitor and predict geological events on
earthquakes generates lots of real time data which needs streaming data processing. Automatic

Reinvention of Self in Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas...
Tess D Urberville, the protagonist of Tess of the D Urbervilles, must ask herself this very
important question as she navigates the complexity of her life. Although she must provide for her
family by running errands, taking care of her younger siblings, and managing her unruly parents
Tess is a product of her culture. She is unintentionally passive in dire situations such as when she
drifted into a reverie and killed the family horse, or when fell asleep and was raped. Tess is also a
symbol of purity, innocence and fertility like many other women of the time. Although social
stigmas and her immoral social status are hindering, Tess s burdensome past is the problem that

The humiliation of working with a fallen woman weighs heavily on Vicar s conscience. Although
society and the church have abandoned Tess, she is still able to preserve some her pride and
optimism. After her disgrace, Tess is still able to escape and stay as much out of observation as
possible (84). The Vicar would not bury her child so Tess did. Tess can easily move on from
these hindrances. The optimism and hope Tess has is demonstrated in her resolve to leave the D
Urberville air castles in the deeds of her new life (100). Determined to shed her tainted image,
Tess does not mention anything about her shady past. With an uplifted spirit Tess begins work at
Talbothay s Dairy. Because of the holy, ethereal, dazzling image Tess puts forth Angel Clare falls
in love with her (131). The first time Angel asks Tess to marry him, Tess admits that I can never be
his wife that marriage is impossible (181). The second time Angel proposes, Tess hesitates, saying
that the other farm girls surely love him more that she does. Although she resolved to start anew,
Tess s prior indecencies prevent her from committing completely to her relationship with Angel.
Tess and the narrator feel that it would be immoral to marry Angel because she would not be

Dystopia In Brave New World
Brave New World is a novel written by Aldous Leonard Huxley, in 1931. It talked about a future
world, the technology is highly developed, people are standardized, and they can feel satisfied
easily. However, there is no emotions, individuality, freedom and morality in the society. This
essay will talk about the reasons of the Brave New Worldis dystopia. Dystopia is a place where
everything is totally unpleasant or bad, it is the antonym of utopia. Brave New World described a
dystopian world, because people use soma to escape from difficulties, people in the Brave New
World are enslaved, and people do not have the abilities to think deeply.
Brave New World is a dystopia because people s satisfaction is based on soma.

Use Of A Tourniquet Is An Effective Means Of Arresting...
The Tourniquet The use of a tourniquet is an effective means of arresting life threatening external
hemorrhage from a limb injury. The use of tourniquets has been documented in the annals of
historical medicine as far back as 6th century BC. The Hippocratic body of work mentions in
passing tight bandaging and distal limb gangrene without noting hemorrhage control, probably
because hemorrhage and death, although linked empirically, were not linked philosophically by the
ancient Greeks. (Kragh, Swan, Smith, Mabry, Blackbourne, 2012, para. 6) The first reported use of
a battlefield tourniquetwas by French army surgeon, Etienne Morel in 1674 (Welling, McKay,
Rasmussen, Rich, 2011). The device included a belt that went through a wood block (with a hole
at each end), and a stick was used in the loop of the belt around the limb to twist as a windlass; this
was known as a block tourniquet. The actual word tourniquet originated from the French word
toner, meaning to turn. A tourniquet is a constricting or compressing device used as a bandage to
control venous and arterial circulation to an extremity for a period of time. Pressure is applied
circumferentially to the skin and underlying tissues of a limb. The pressure is transferred to the
walls of the vessels causing them to become temporarily occluded. A tourniquet can be used in an
emergency situations to control life threatening bleeding. Therefore, a tourniquet is an acceptable
treatment for uncontrolled

The Sandlot Analysis
The Sandlot : A little field never meant so much
Have you ever wondered what it would be like living as a teenager in the 1960s? Even though
filmed in 1993, The Sandlot does an outstanding job taking you back to the summer of 1963. It
takes you back in time to 1963 to a simple town in Utah. The Sandlot follows a timid young kid
through hard times, like moving to a new town and having to go through the struggle of finding
new friends. The struggle comes to an end when a compassionate young man comes up to him and
gives him a life changing opportunity. The Sandlot wonderfully depicts a unbreakable bond
between a superstar athlete and an introvert. The characters and actors honestly makes The Sandlot
become a classic. The setting and the plot really make you feel as if you were a teenager in 1960s
time. The Sandlot consists of the essentials of a memorable classic such as connections with
audiences, a perfect setting, tremendous characters, and an intriguing plot.
The Sandlot provides many opportunistic connections with the viewers to make it a memorable
movie. For example, The Sandlot starts off with a struggle many kids face today, with Smalls , a
timid young man moving to an unknown town in Utah. In the beginning of his adventure Smalls is
faced with the dilemma of finding new friends. Luckily for him a compassionate ... Show more

old field to the boys who play on it. The Sandlot means the beginning of many long lasting
friendships. Also every player who plays on that field knows of the ferocious Beast that takes its

Mapps was halfway down the stairs when the officers broke down her door and were already in

got a hold of the warrant and put it in her bosom. As a result the officer tried to get the paper

was not so kind with her and twisted her arm and she yelled at him telling him that he was hurting

Summary Of Alexander The Man, The Conqueror
Zeus, I just finished reading what this John Wiseman, wrote about you. He s so full of himself.
He stated there was more than one Zeus solely on the primes you were worshiped, as the King of
Gods and men, differently from Asia Minor to Sicily. I guess he forgot to read the chapter on
Alexander the Great and the proliferation of the Greek culture everywhere. I think I will sent him
a signed copy of, Alexander the Great: the Man, the Myth, the Conqueror by Mark Darius. Now
Darius knows how to write a book. He wrote that you might have been Alexander s father and
ancient Greek religion did have an influence on the countries Alexander conquered: 200,000 sq.

Luminol Forensics Lab Report
Reflecting on the Impacts of Science, Specifically Forensics: Luminol Luminol (C8H7N3O2) is a
very effective and convenient chemical used in crime scene investigations. The presence of blood
can be found with luminol sprayed throughout a crime scene. The chemical reaction between
luminol and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) the oxidizing agent, catalyzed by the iron in blood, reveals
this presence. When investigating a crime scene, investigators use luminol joined by other
chemicals; such as hydrogen peroxide, to search for blood evident. In order for the luminol to react
with the hydrogen peroxide in a glowing manner, a catalyst is needed. In this case, the substance
that increases the rate of the chemical reaction; the catalyst, is the iron in blood. The iron atoms are
found in the haemoglobin within blood. The reaction produces a cyclic peroxide and releases
energy, essentially causing the blue, chemiluminescent lightvisible when observing under a
blacklight. This reaction was developed so that crime investigators and scientists present at a crime
scene can view blood that may not be visible to the naked eye. The forensic industry is greatly
impacted by this reaction because it has provided essential evidence and information needed to...

A chemical reaction involving luminol can result in chemiluminescence when coming in contact
with other substances other than blood. It can react with copper, horseradish sauce, fecal matter,
and certain types of bleaches. This can be difficult for forensic scientists because bleach solution is
often used to thoroughly clean crime scenes by criminals prior to investigation. This is a problem
because when luminol and an oxidant is sprayed throughout the crime scene, a chemiluminescence
glows throughout the whole area, disguising any areas that may have had blood prior to the

Examples Of Operant Conditioning
The section of this Chapter that I found to be interesting was Operant Conditioning. It was
interesting how we can train and produce a behavior that is more probable to recur with positive
and negative reinforcements. When we are presented with a positive reinforcer, we strengthen the
probability that a response will recur (pg 114). For example, when we are training a dogto do tricks,
we reward the dog with a treat every time the trick is performed correctly. With negative
reinforcers we use unpleasant stimuli that strengthens a behavior by their removal (pg 115).
When teach a dog to heel, we may use a harness around the dogs body. When the dog is pulling
away, the harness creates an uncomfortable pressure. When the dog is walking in the right spot
that pressure is then remove. With negative reinforcement we hope that the dog will get to a point
that it avoids the pressure and and heels by our side. This type of training is referred as escape...

If we yell at a dog for not dropping his toy immediately, when he finally does, he may be confused
of what the punishment is for. If receiving too much positive punishment the dog could become
fearful of its trainer as oppose to learning his actions are wrong. Our own attitudes and behavior
could also affect how we use positive punishment. When we come home and see a mess on the
carpet, our anger may cause us to use more positive punishment than needed. In a video by the
Dunlap Training Solutions, they state that the use of positive reinforcement and negative
punishment are the best ways in training a dog. Their explanation of using Operant conditioning in
dog training can be seen here https://youtu.be/l4Il0hN0FYM?t=21s .
Even though I was drawn to this section of the chapter, how we learn and how we teach others to
learn is an amazing part of psychology. With enough patience we can almost teach a dog to do

BRIEFING NOTE
FINANCING RECOMMENDATION
SEPTEMBER 1997
1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this briefing note is to provide recommendations for Metapath Software Corp. (

These two offers came from 1) a fund consortium led by Robertson Stephens Omega Fund ( RSC
) and Technology Crossover Ventures ( TCV ) and 2) CellTech Communications ( CellTech ), a
vendor of wireless technology which had recently gone IPO.

4. ANALYSIS
Comparing the term sheet of the offer from RSC and TCV consortium to that of CellTech, RSC
and TCV s PCPT had a much more dilutive impact to Metapath upon exit.
Under liquidation, the term sheet stipulates that the Series E investors is entitled to claim its initial
investment of $10.75 million plus any accrued but unpaid dividend. Any proceeds after this claim
will then be distributed to all common and Series E Preferred shareholders on an as converted pro
rata basis. This double dipping means that RSC will not only recover its initial investment of $5
millions, but also enjoys the convertible benefits.
As a result, if the sale occurs before 2000, the profitability for A D tranches will be negatively
impacted by the preferred characteristic in the Series E. However if the sale occurs after 2000, A
and B tranches will be gradually redeemed on an annual basis, which will leave C and D tranches
to be mostly impacted adversely by the preferred characteristic in the Series E stock.
Under the circumstance of an IPO, tranches C, D and E will convert to common at their negotiated
prices while A B will be redeemed.
However, on the flip side, the price offered by RSC and TCV consortium was $6, which was
significantly higher than the first three rounds of financing (tranches A,B and C) at

Globalization Is An Increasingly Present Phenomenon, Which
Globalization is an increasingly present phenomenon, which influences almost everyone s life to a
certain extent. Our world is more connected than ever, and not just from an economic point of
view, but from social, political, technological, and cultural as well. Globalization can be defined,
analysed, tackled many ways, but this essay seeks to briefly define globalization, introduce the
convergencediversity debate, and examine the different types of organizational strategic
perspectives in China.
The notions of globality can be traced back to the early part of humanity, but the term globalization
itself was not coined until the 20th century. From a social standpoint, it can be defined as:

From a managerial point of view, there are many implications of convergence. For example, the
staff of multinational firms are often expected to move around the organization s global operations.
Furthermore, Belief in the transferability of techniques has led management to turn elsewhere for
solutions to problems such as organization structures, new market entry, product and process
design, controlling labour and cost reduction. (Needle, pp.147)
On the other side of the debate, divergence scholars instead assert that national culture, not
economic ideology, or technological growth, is (and will continue to be) the dominant force in
shaping the values, beliefs, and attitudes...within a country . (Gupta, V.; Wang, J pp. 69)
The divergence supporters argue that differences in cultural values can be seen as natural barriers to
convergence, and they can only be altered slowly. They insist, that instead of converging on one
model, national states and companies aim to be different, so they can be more compatible on the
global market. Divergence scholars are convinced that management practices cannot simply be
integrated, as cultural differences particularly between Western and Eastern countries are too great.
There is a hybrid model which combines the best features of convergent and divergent ideology,
called cross vergence. It represents a middle way in the values symbolized by the Western and
Eastern world.

Decoding Neanderthals
Decoding Neanderthals Nearly 40,000 years ago, Earth was a much different place. Europe was in
an ice age, Neanderthals were going on nearly 300,000 years of life, and Homosapiens were making
a huge advancement. Was the cause of the Neanderthals diminish due to Homosapiens sudden and
large advancement into Europe, or are there other underlying circumstances that could be the
reasons for the fall of Neanderthals? The stout, muscular Neanderthals typically lived a short life of
around 30 years. For years, there has not been much scientific proof that Neanderthals had much
intelligence. They have always been thought of as a species that lacked intelligence but had
amazing brute strength. Recently, the tables have started to turn and scientists

Marina Abramovic s Influence On Performance Art
Towards the late 1950s, Abstract expressionism began to lose impetus, many artists across the
world, especially in America and Europe, began to embrace performance art. In that context,
Marina Abramovic s work is typical of the ritualistic strain in 1960s performance art, often
involves putting herself in grave danger and performing lengthy, harmful routine that result in her
being burnt or cut, or enduring some privation. She view her art almost as a sacrificial and
religious rite, performed by herself for a congregation of viewers; the physical ordeals she endures
form the basis for exploring such themes as cleansing, endurance, trust, departure and exhaustion.
Her work might be interpreted as having displaced art from traditional media,... Show more content

The Low mass stars spend there main life as a fusion machine which turns hydrogen into helium
and a very slow and methodical pace. When the energy released by this fusion reaches the
surface it is released into space and this is the star luminosity. Over a long, long time sometimes
billions of years a low mass star consumes the hydrogen in its core and converts it to helium, at
which point the core starts to contract and shrink. Once all of the hydrogen inside the stars core
begins to become totally exhausted, the core pressure gives way to the crush of gravity because
it has no more fusion occurring in its core at that time. As the core shrinks rapidly and the outer
layers start to expand the stars shape begins to grow in size and its luminosity becomes
extraordinary brighter due to the outer shell starting to produce fusion more rapidly then the
core did during the main sequence life of the star. As this situation grows more rapidly and
extreme the core starts to rapidly burn again and fuse its core helium into carbon. Then just
before its final death the star ejects its outer layers into space. This leaves only the degenerate
carbon core and since this core is still very hot it emits intensely powerful ultraviolet radiation
and glows brightly in what is known as a planetary nebula. The nebula fades and cools over around
a million or so years and we are left with a white dwarf cooling indefinitely till

A History Of The English Church And People
When Bede was writing A History of the English Church and People the conflicts between
Christians and pagans were still not long a ago and Christianity was not yet as dominant in
England as it would be in the future. Therefore, the memories of these conflicts were still fresh
within some people s minds and Bede made sure to record it. Bede wrote the history of past events
of Christianitys struggles, the great men that protected it and enforced it. He wrote so that
Christians would have an example on how to act in order to achieve greatness, how to avoid sin
and how to strengthen Christianity and the Church itself in England. Bede thought that
greatness is achieved only in one way and that was being a good, devout Christian. He used the
history of King Oswald s life as an example of what it meant to be great and what are the rewards
for achieving greatness. He wished everyone who read his history to follow in Oswald s
footsteps as he continuously mention in his written work history records good things of good
men, the thoughtful hearer is encouraged to imitate what is good . He gives many examples of
Oswald s deeds as a devout Christian, but his number one achievement was bringing the faith to
the lands of Bernicia. He came to Bernicia to fight heathen kings while at the same time showing
a great trust in God, as before the battle he set up a holy cross and made everyone in his army pray
before upcoming battles. it seems that there was no evidence of the

The Five Army Branches
Throughout history, any established government has always maintained a militant force to defend
their land and if need be, attack other regions or nations. However before the United States was
founded on 4 Jul 1776, there was a militant force. That militant force was officially considered the
United States Army and was established in 14 Jun 1775. As time progressed from the founding of
the nation to current day, the militaryhas progressed as well. Specifically, there are five branches
that comprise the military: Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and the Navy. There are
different requirements to join each respected branch and different standards of living that come
with joining the respected branch. When beginning the journey to enlist in the military a
prerequisite is taking the ASVAB; this is the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery test.
Every member attempting to enlist must take this test, however there are minimum score

Karma does not have any meaning on its own, it comes to affect when it gets attached to the soul
(Karma, 2009). This karma gets attached to the soul when Jains do not follow five main beliefs.
Jain followers were expected to follow certain actions during their everyday life. These included
Ahimsa (no violence mental, physical or verbal), Satya (speaking the truth), Asteya (not stealing
from others), Brahma charya (remaining faithful to one spouse only), and Aparigraha (detach
from ownership of places and materialistic things) (Robinson, 2010). The four vows where
already established by the 23rd Jain, while Mahavira added in the 5th vow. After the vows had
been set, Mahavira also asked his followers to shed all clothes. This meant that the Jain monks
would be able to realize the feeling of absolute chastity and forget about all the pleasures of
material life. Jainism is based on three principles: Right Faith, Right Knowledge, and Right Action.
Before people of the Jain religion are able to become monks, they must pass through three other
stages during their life time. These stages include Brahmacharya ashrama: the life of a student,
Gruhasth ashrama: family life, Vanaprasth ashrama: family and social services and then anyast
ashrama: life as a monk. The very early teaching of Jainism had first passed from generation to
generation through oral traditions. A religious council would be held Pataliputra (present day

Social Hierarchy in Ancient China Essay example
In ancient china, the social hierarchy was highly looked upon and very important. The shi included
eunuch, scholars and officials. This meant that for the shi, because they were second to the top of
the hierachy, they were very important and had big jobs. The shi included Eunuchs, Scholars and
officials. These people contributed to the organisation and governmentof China because they ran the
main jobs in the government including scribes, advisors and battle commanders. They also
organised communities by giving orders and insuring people knew the laws and followed them.

Officials
The main job of an official was to keep law and order and discuss issues. Because of their
education, officials were well respected and were able to live a comfortable lifestyle. Due to
this, to become an official, men had to pass a 60 hour exam. This was so difficult that only
1:3000 people got in, meaning that the amount of officials was quite low. Officials spent most of
their time discussing religion, laws, farming and taxes. They had the largest job out of the shi
because there were such a variety of issues they talked about. As well as talking about issues,
officials also acted upon them. Some examples of this is when they went out to the country and
encouraged farming methods, collected taxes and enforced laws.
Why were the shi so important?
The shi were so important because they contributed greatly to the organisation and government of
China. If it weren t for them China would not be an established and wealthy country today.
Because the shi were educated and were able to read and write, we are able to learn and understand
the history and culture of Ancient China. This group of people was also very important because
they talked to the emperor and kept his information, translated documents and ran the main
government. Major jobs they had included commanding battles, scribers, clerks, organised rituals
and collected taxes. This proves that the shi provided vital jobs for Ancient China.

Roy Williams Cheating
Cheating, you may do it, you probably have done it somewhere in your life, but what about the
penalties you may suffer for being caught? People cheat in many things: school, sports, and, but not
limited to, relationships. But there is many ways to cheat in those multiple examples, like in sports
you can cheat with: drugs, academic eligibility, or even through recruiting. The topic of this paper
is college basketball and cheating. What makes college basketball coachesbreak the rules, is it worth
the penalty you might ultimately face?
Roy Williams has had an unproven history of not obeying the academic rules, but he was
actually caught in 2004. One of his players, Rashad McCants, recently came out and said Roy
did cheat. Rashad McCants, a North Carolina basketball player from 2002 2005 was one of the
leading scores on the 2005 National Champion UNC team, who said he participated in Roy
Williams academic scandal. He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then ended up
being unsigned in the league by the year 2009, admitted to taking bogus classes designed to help
athletes stay academically eligible (Delsohn). Rashad McCants is the only person who came out
against Roy Williams in the academic scandal. The classes Rashad McCants referred to recently
were exposed in his interview with Steve Delsohn, a writer for ESPN. The class was a paper

William Shakespeare s Sonnet 64
Sonnets hold more detail and depth than can be easily noted in a first reading. Due to their strict
structure and short length, a lot of thought must be put into the words chosen by the poets.
Edmund Spenser and William Shakespeare exemplify the idea of sonnet diction being a vital
part of the poem. This is especially true in the cases of Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 and Spenser s
Sonnet 64. Both sonnets feature a strong focus on a female beloved and her appearance. The
two authors have different approaches in how they describe her looks, but the overall structure
of the sonnets are very similar. In both cases, each word in the two sonnets means something
more than the word alone first implies. It is not hard to see that Spenser in Sonnet 64 is deeply
in love with his beloved and greatly admires her physical appearance. At first glance, one might
think that Shakespeare in Sonnet 130 does not seem to think his beloved beautiful since he lists
off all the things that are not beautiful about her. However, the beloved is admired by them both,
simply in different ways. Spenser idealizes his beloved by comparing her to beautiful and natural
things and by using smell to describe her beauty. Shakespeare, on the other hand, does not idealize
his beloved; instead, he is honest about her, which may appear as a negative description, but is
actually also describing how much he admires her. Despite these things, there is something to the
way Shakespeare describes his beloved that is very

Snare Drum History
A paradiddle is a rudiment used to practice accents and tempo on the snare drum. Once one learns
the paradiddle, it could be identified in nearly every rock song. However, without the snare drum,
the paradiddle would not have that same groove that it does today. Meaning that music would not
be the same either. The snare drumis the catalyst for a clear majority of the music played today.
The snare drum dates to as far as 6000 BCE in Mesopotamia. Back then, it was simply a square
piece of clay that could be hit with a stick. The idea of a strand on the drum did not exist until the
1400s with the Tabor at its prime. The Swiss and Ottoman empires used it during military
expeditions. The Tabor evolved into what s known as a field drum , which is a larger drum that
was carried by a strap. This drum still rattled every time it was struck. It wasn t until the 1600s
that there was a screw used to hold the cover of the drum down. This gave the drum the sharp and
tight snapping sound heard today. It could be argued that once the drum was made of brass, that s
when it became known as the snare drum.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why? Because there s nothing like it. It s typically a small drum, but it can have a variety of
sounds that affect the tone and tempo of a song. The very composition of the snare itself makes
a huge difference. For instance, a triple flanged hooped snare would ring longer, making the
strikes, and rolls more intense, or more melodic. Also, metal shells are more durable, allowing
heavier rim shots that add a heavier feel to a song. Muffling the snare can also incredibly impact
the sound. Some drummers tend not to muffle it at all, leaving the sound to be pure and
unadulterated. Some drummers muffle the snare to the point where the sound is more felt and less
heard. All types of snare drums serve their purpose as a staple in any drum kit for many genres of

Sherlock is incredibly clever, and quite witty when being manipulative, he does it so nonchalantly

MANAGEMENT PRACTICES Last Name/ First Name: Institution Affiliation: Introduction The
changes in the world today are very much tremendous as far as complexity in the way people do
conduct their everyday business is concerned. With the ever growing population that has been
brought by the advancement in technology, businesses are always under pressure to satisfy the
consumer s demand (Medina, 2014). Therefore, each and every day that passes there is always a
necessity for companies and organizations to work on improving their production and services

Then these people more often will get sick and eventually die. Another huge issue of poverty is
lack of education. Without a proper education, the poor will stay in poverty . This happens
because without a proper education most employers will ignore the application to the
job, because of the lack of knowledge that you may have. More commonly, people with a higher
education receive more job opportunities. A 2003 study sponsored by the National Center for
Children in Poverty found that in families whose income falls below 200 percent of the Federal
Poverty Line children score far below average on reading, math and general knowledge tests. A
lack of education perpetuates poverty and breaking this cycle is key to overcoming persistent
poverty in the world. That being said, in order for us to eliminate poverty we need to get our
students into better education system and take action for our students to learn so the cycle can end.
Last but most definitely not least, issue that causes poverty is divorce. Single Parents who have
to raise children on their own have a harder time and less resources than a couple who is still
married. Typically divorcing or separating mothers are 2.83 times more likely to be in poverty
than those who remain married. This being said the parent that usually ends up with custody of the
child see a huge drop in their income, which is usually around 52% drop. Consequently , divorce
can easily lead to poverty

How The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Changed America
After March 25th, 1911, the workplace would never remain the same again. The Triangle
Shirtwaist Factory Fire, often referred to as the fire that changed America, was one of the most
impactful events of the early 1900s and soon helped set motion into the era of labor reforms. On
March 25th, 1911, The Triangle Shirtwaist factory, owned by Max Blanck and Isaac Harris was
engulfed in flames. The factory was located in the top 3 floors of the Asch building in Manhattan,
New York. The terrific turn of events left firemen unable to rescue those inside. The exits were
locked and the fire escapes were unable to support rescue support. This left many people jumping
out of the windows to their death along with the multiple deaths already caused by the fire inside
the building. Unfortunately, 146 lives were lost before any changes could... Show more content on

This provided measure of protection and required safety devices such as fireproof materials,

1916. The state of New York also created a Factory Investigating Commission that studied and
investigated safety, sanitation, wages, hours and child labor in places like sweatshops, canneries
and bakeries. Throughout the next few years, New York adopted 36 commission
recommendations into law and set a good example for states to continue in its path. These laws
and regulations had immense amounts of impacts on the way workplaces began to change. They
impacted the workplaces, workers rights and how workplaces are held to a high standard to this
day. Not only did they have a huge impact on workplaces but places such as schools, shopping
centers and even movie theaters have been impacted because of the effects of the Triangle
Shirtwaist Factory Fire. The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire was a devastating tragedy, but the
changes that were able to be made in the United States society and workplaces across the country,

Consequences Of Control
The Consequences of Controlling Others
Mandy Hale once said, The only keeper of happiness is you. Stop giving people power to control
your smile, your worth and your attitude. The one shot to live your life enjoyably, is to be able to
break free from the control of others. But countless people find is tough to personally control and
live their lives to the fullest. This does not just result in a change in personality, but a change in the
society. When people allow themselves to be controlled by others, the consequences can be
devastating. One way these controlling natures can result in a negative consequence is that people
cannot display their true selves. Connie Schultz writes about her feelings as a child: I grew up
surrounded by children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing this, the child gains more courage to stand up. In the same way, to stand up to others is
having the courage to deep down in their heart. According to Jessica, a student of Charleston,
Mississippi High school, the horrors Connie were facing were negligible: I started hanging out with
Calvin; and my parents threatened me and threatened me and threatened me (Prom Night in
Mississippi n.pag.). It is unacceptable for these controlling parents to employ their children to do
what they want. But, threatening a child to do what you want is repugnant landing far beyond
unacceptable demeanor. As a matter of fact, inviting yourself into others lives in order to control
them is ghastly, too. Aunt Alexandra, in the book To Kill a Mockingbird, does just this: We
decided that it would be best for you to have some feminine influence. It won t be many years,
Jean Louise, before you become interested in clothes and boys (Lee 170). Aunt Alexandra is a
refined, polite, proper and put together lady. Nevertheless, her values and beliefs do not exactly
meet with Atticus values and beliefs. In other words, Aunt Alexandra does not like how Atticus is
raising Scout and Jem. As a result,

Critique of Michael Jordan and The New Global Capitalism written by Walter LaFeber
Michael Jordan is more than just an athlete. He is a celebrity, a brand, and the face of many
thriving companies. Everyone in the world, sports fan or not, knows Michael Jordan. If they don t
know what he does or who he is, they have heard of the name, or can relate him to something.
Michael Jordan was lucky enough to have been offered lucrative opportunities early in his career
which led to the capitalization on Jordan merchandise. LaFeber highlights the opportunity Jordan
had with Nike, and how they used not only Jordan himself, but also the sport to Americanize other
cultures. LaFeber explores how fans of Jordan all over the world as well as the labor markets that
Nike used to extract (new word) cheap and easy labor to make products, and being the ... Show

Jordan was thought to be one of the most recognizable successful Americans; he was even
ranked alongside a communist revolution leader by Chinese schoolchildren as one of the
greatest figures in American history, even recognizable to natives of Lhasa, Tibet, and students
at Beijing University and of course hometown fans from Chicago. Michael Jordan is described
to be personified as an imaginative individual with skills that Americans dream of displaying in a
society that adores graceful and successful individualism, while also having a competitive spirit
and the discipline that Americans like to think drove their nation to the peak of world power.
These skills Jordan exemplified, LaFeber writes, quickly translated into money and power. Jordan
was earring $30 million a year for playing with the Bulls, as well as twice that amount from
outside endorsements and personal businesses. Jordan played the role of a hero, on top of top notch
athlete, and businessman. He was becoming a figure to the entire

Pros And Cons Of Enhancing Competitive Markets
Increasing Competition There is no such thing as free markets . That is why I call them
competitive markets . All real markets are political institutions in which some form of market
masters, usually government, regulate economic competition among different groups within a
society. On August 31st 1910 Republican Theodore Roosevelt delivered a fiery speech in
Kansas. The former president celebrated the extraordinary new commercial power but also gave
warning that America s industrial economy had been taken over by a handful of corporate giants
that were generating an unparalleled wealth for a small number of people are exercising a
growing control over America s politics. Roosevelt cautioned that the county founded on the
principle of equal opportunity was in danger of becoming a land of corporate privilege, and
pledged to do whatever he could to bring the new giants under control. In the 1970 s the U.S.

The government should pursue policies that encourage and facilitate business formations,
operations and competition. Local and National governments need to reduce or maintain low
barriers to the formation of new businesses thereby encouraging entrepreneurship. The government
can also play a key role in entrepreneurship by improving the environment for entry and operations.
All government policies need to limit hindering incentives, initiative, innovation, productivity,
investment, research and development. The government always needs to continually simplify tax
laws and regulations in other words, red tape in order to facilitate the business market place.
Regulators should not over regulate the good but instead look more for the bad and increase their
punishments. Government needs to insure a level playing field in the business marketplace to

THE SUCCESS OF INNOCENT DRINKS USING COMPETING VALUES FRAMEWORK AND
PESTEL ANALYSIS.
Innocent Drinks was started by three friends in 1999 that developed premium smoothies that
contained 100% natural fruit with no water or added sugar. The aim was to provide people with
quick ready to go and healthy food and drink options. The company is now one of the best loved
and fastest growing businesses in Britain. The highly successful Innocent Drinks sells $2 million
smoothies per week across Europe, building a 72% market share in the 8 years since they were
founded (Anne 2008). They give 10% of their profit to charity and continually participate in fund

According to Jonathan Salem (2009), a global brand strategist, Innocent s branding brilliance is its
unconventional marketing which is considered ethical as it gives lots of money away and
maintains a cuddly tone in its adds, on its website and even on its labels. This way it has no
doubt delighted its customers with its straightforward approach to business using a simple down
to earth communications technique that mirrors the honesty of the brand and its products. The
product is also successful as in today s busy working lifestyle people want to be healthy but don t
have time and look for quick options in ready made food and drinks that are healthy. People today
are also very health conscious and want to eat healthy so innocent provide a great option being
100% natural with good taste at the same time.
Over a year ago, Innocent invested with Coca Cola. They sold a minority stake of between 10%
and 20% in order to raise funds so it could expand into Europe. This has been a good decision for
the company as the business has grown in Europe over the last year by the help of Coke (Innocent
Drinks 2009).
The rational goal model emphasises control and an external focus and views planning, goal setting,
productivity and efficiency as effective. Innocent employ experts in all areas from web designers
to nutritionists to sales representatives which means everyone works in their specialized field to get
the best possible outcomes for the company. This is important as in some

The Differences Of Aztecs And Mayan Civilizations
Aztecs and Mayans were the biggest civilizations in Mesoamerica. They are known for having
mass amounts of knowledge in subjects like astronomy, mathematics, agriculture and architecture.
These two civilizations have their own creation myth: Mayas have Popol Vuh, while Aztecs have
Mito de los Cinco Soles. Both works have given an insight on their culture s values, ways of living
and beliefs. However, when the Spanish came to America most of the books containing essential
information of these civilizations were destroyed. Some of the written works that were rescued
pertained to both: Mesoamerican and Spanish authors. The Mayan and Aztecworks Chilam Balam
and Presagios segГєn los informantes de SahagГєn describe Spanish brutality and abuses, defining
them as violent. In contrast Spanish works Segunda Carta de RelaciГіn de HernГЎn Cortes and
Carta de Pedro de Alvarado justify Spanish actions against Mesoamericas civilizations by
portraying their own leaders as saviors. Spanish and Mesoamerican civilizations texts show
contradictory points of view towards the conquest, creating skepticism on what really happened
during that time.
Popol Vuh and Mito de los Cinco Soles are relevant texts because they emphasize the importance of
sacrifice in their culture. The Mayan book, Popol Vuh, is a broad text that contains the myths of
earth, humanity, and life creation; as well as it emphasizes the influence deities had in their life.

Department of interest: Industrial design
I m drawn to design because it is everywhere and has the potential to affect so much of how
people feel about a certain space or about an experience. From a young age, I was fortunate to be
exposed to art; my parents would constantly take my brother and me to museums and galleries and
at home, my grandmother would teach me skills such as crocheting, needlepoint and how to
replicate food out of playdough. In both elementary school and middle school I drew and created
little things such as bookmarks and stuffed animals, but I was never known as the art kid . I loved
art and I understood that there was so much potential to create something original and to express an

satisfaction from physically creating an object. The final step that inspired my realization, was a
communications class in which, one of the projects was to invent a product and create a print ad
for it. While doing this project, it all clicked for me. I ended up creating way more material for the
product than was required because I got sucked into the world that I created for it, fantasizing about
packaging and display and consistent branding. It combined everything I liked: graphic design, new
materials, 3D elements and for me all this pointed to industrial

Bystander Effect In Cancer
Bystander effect in cancer
Cancer is defined as unregulated growth of cells that deviate from usual cellular activities (NIH,
2015). This includes the development of tumors and eventually the invasion of other tissues.
Metastasis of tumor cell undergoes multiple steps: invasion, intravasation, extravasation, survival
and proliferation (Sethi Kang, 2011; Van Zijl, Krupitza, Mikulits, 2011). As GJPs have been
described to provide a conduit for intracellular communication, it has been shown in many reports
where connexin channels provided the means of initial metastatic lesion formation to the
vasculature. Once the metastatic tumor cells invade into the blood circulation (intravasation), these
cells will then be able to spread to other locations (i.e. from the breast to the brain).

When cells were treated with NS 398 (suppresses COX2 activity), bystander spread to
neighboring cells were drastically reduced (Zhou et al., 2005). The spread of irradiated tumor
cells to normal cells is dependent on the coupling strength of the GJC and/or the permeability.
The effects of COX2 being coexpressed with either Cx32 or Cx26 showed contrasting results.
With the induced expression of Cx26, propagation of radiation damage to neighboring DNA can
be seen (figure (1,2)). On the contrary, the expression of Cx32 helped reduce the spread through
bystander effect (Zhao, de Toledo, Hu, Hei, Azzam, 2014). Since different subtypes of connexins
have a different permeability to signaling molecules, Cx32 may have a lower permeability to
different secondary messengers. In cells expressing COX2 knockdown, the coupling of Cx26 to
AG1522 cells (bystander human fibroblasts) were drastically delayed (delay of bystander effect)
(Zhao et al., 2014). Thus, it may present clues to pathways regulating GJIC in radiotherapy

The Treatment Of Young Victims Of Child Sexual Abuse
Abstract
The treatment of young victims of child sexual abuse can be demanding for the victim, the victim
s family, and the counselor. The trauma associated with the abuse and the time it may take the
child to heal can become very overwhelming. There are barriers, such as a lack of family support
and lack of disclosure, which may block victims of child sexual abuse from successful treatment.
Overcoming these barriers and incorporating multiple methods of treatment can be beneficial for
the victim. Specifically, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy and relational cultural play
therapy with additional resources have proven effective in including family support and in
defeating the fears of victims of child sexual abuse.
McPherson, Scribano, and Stevens (2012) defined child sexual abuse as, engaging a child in
sexual activities that the child cannot comprehend, for which the child is developmentally
unprepared and cannot give informed consent (p. 27). The number of affected women in the
United States is about 26% and the number of affected men is 16% (Perez Fuentas, Olfson,
Villegas, Morcillo, Wang, Blanco, 2013). However, as all crimes go, not every single case has
been reported. Whether reported or not, child sexual abuse is a very serious crime that can affect
the victims tremendously. Retrieving counseling for these victims of child sexual abuse is
substantial in helping the child live a fruitful live post abuse. Trauma focused cognitive behavioral
therapy as

  • 2. Overthrow Of Allende In Chile Essay Part A: Plan of Investigation Research Question: To what extent was the involvement of the United States government and the CIA responsible for the 1973 Overthrow of Allende in Chile? The investigation analyses the 1973 overthrow of Allende in Chile during the Cold War. Since the 1973 military coup of President Allende, many historians have argued that Allende was overthrown due to his failed economic policy, while others say it was because of the United States interventions. The military coup to overthrow Allende was successful, and the military general, Pinochet, became the new leader of Chile. Tess D Urberville, the protagonist of Tess of the D Urbervilles, must ask herself this very important question as she navigates the complexity of her life. Although she must provide for her family by running errands, taking care of her younger siblings, and managing her unruly parents Tess is a product of her culture. She is unintentionally passive in dire situations such as when she drifted into a reverie and killed the family horse, or when fell asleep and was raped. Tess is also a symbol of purity, innocence and fertility like many other women of the time. Although social stigmas and her immoral social status are hindering, Tess s burdensome past is the problem that truly prevents her from escaping her fate and developing a sense of... • 9. Use Of A Tourniquet Is An Effective Means Of Arresting... The Tourniquet The use of a tourniquet is an effective means of arresting life threatening external hemorrhage from a limb injury. The use of tourniquets has been documented in the annals of historical medicine as far back as 6th century BC. The Hippocratic body of work mentions in passing tight bandaging and distal limb gangrene without noting hemorrhage control, probably because hemorrhage and death, although linked empirically, were not linked philosophically by the ancient Greeks. (Kragh, Swan, Smith, Mabry, Blackbourne, 2012, para. 6) The first reported use of a battlefield tourniquetwas by French army surgeon, Etienne Morel in 1674 (Welling, McKay, Rasmussen, Rich, 2011). The device included a belt that went through a wood block (with a hole at each end), and a stick was used in the loop of the belt around the limb to twist as a windlass; this was known as a block tourniquet. The actual word tourniquet originated from the French word toner, meaning to turn. A tourniquet is a constricting or compressing device used as a bandage to control venous and arterial circulation to an extremity for a period of time. Pressure is applied circumferentially to the skin and underlying tissues of a limb. The pressure is transferred to the walls of the vessels causing them to become temporarily occluded. A tourniquet can be used in an emergency situations to control life threatening bleeding. Therefore, a tourniquet is an acceptable treatment for uncontrolled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He stated there was more than one Zeus solely on the primes you were worshiped, as the King of Gods and men, differently from Asia Minor to Sicily. I guess he forgot to read the chapter on Alexander the Great and the proliferation of the Greek culture everywhere. I think I will sent him a signed copy of, Alexander the Great: the Man, the Myth, the Conqueror by Mark Darius. Now Darius knows how to write a book. • 15. Luminol Forensics Lab Report Reflecting on the Impacts of Science, Specifically Forensics: Luminol Luminol (C8H7N3O2) is a very effective and convenient chemical used in crime scene investigations. The presence of blood can be found with luminol sprayed throughout a crime scene. The chemical reaction between luminol and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) the oxidizing agent, catalyzed by the iron in blood, reveals this presence. When investigating a crime scene, investigators use luminol joined by other chemicals; such as hydrogen peroxide, to search for blood evident. In order for the luminol to react with the hydrogen peroxide in a glowing manner, a catalyst is needed. In this case, the substance that increases the rate of the chemical reaction; the catalyst, is the iron in blood. The iron atoms are found in the haemoglobin within blood. The reaction produces a cyclic peroxide and releases energy, essentially causing the blue, chemiluminescent lightvisible when observing under a blacklight. This reaction was developed so that crime investigators and scientists present at a crime scene can view blood that may not be visible to the naked eye. The forensic industry is greatly impacted by this reaction because it has provided essential evidence and information needed to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was interesting how we can train and produce a behavior that is more probable to recur with positive and negative reinforcements. When we are presented with a positive reinforcer, we strengthen the probability that a response will recur (pg 114). For example, when we are training a dogto do tricks, we reward the dog with a treat every time the trick is performed correctly. With negative reinforcers we use unpleasant stimuli that strengthens a behavior by their removal (pg 115). When teach a dog to heel, we may use a harness around the dogs body. When the dog is pulling away, the harness creates an uncomfortable pressure. When the dog is walking in the right spot that pressure is then remove. With negative reinforcement we hope that the dog will get to a point that it avoids the pressure and and heels by our side. This type of training is referred as escape... Any proceeds after this claim will then be distributed to all common and Series E Preferred shareholders on an as converted pro rata basis. This double dipping means that RSC will not only recover its initial investment of $5 millions, but also enjoys the convertible benefits. As a result, if the sale occurs before 2000, the profitability for A D tranches will be negatively impacted by the preferred characteristic in the Series E. However if the sale occurs after 2000, A and B tranches will be gradually redeemed on an annual basis, which will leave C and D tranches to be mostly impacted adversely by the preferred characteristic in the Series E stock. Under the circumstance of an IPO, tranches C, D and E will convert to common at their negotiated prices while A B will be redeemed. The Low mass stars spend there main life as a fusion machine which turns hydrogen into helium and a very slow and methodical pace. When the energy released by this fusion reaches the surface it is released into space and this is the star luminosity. Over a long, long time sometimes billions of years a low mass star consumes the hydrogen in its core and converts it to helium, at which point the core starts to contract and shrink. Once all of the hydrogen inside the stars core begins to become totally exhausted, the core pressure gives way to the crush of gravity because it has no more fusion occurring in its core at that time. As the core shrinks rapidly and the outer layers start to expand the stars shape begins to grow in size and its luminosity becomes extraordinary brighter due to the outer shell starting to produce fusion more rapidly then the core did during the main sequence life of the star. As this situation grows more rapidly and extreme the core starts to rapidly burn again and fuse its core helium into carbon. Then just before its final death the star ejects its outer layers into space. This leaves only the degenerate carbon core and since this core is still very hot it emits intensely powerful ultraviolet radiation and glows brightly in what is known as a planetary nebula. Bede wrote the history of past events of Christianitys struggles, the great men that protected it and enforced it. Due to their strict structure and short length, a lot of thought must be put into the words chosen by the poets. Edmund Spenser and William Shakespeare exemplify the idea of sonnet diction being a vital part of the poem. This is especially true in the cases of Shakespeare s Sonnet 130 and Spenser s Sonnet 64. Both sonnets feature a strong focus on a female beloved and her appearance. The two authors have different approaches in how they describe her looks, but the overall structure of the sonnets are very similar. In both cases, each word in the two sonnets means something more than the word alone first implies. It is not hard to see that Spenser in Sonnet 64 is deeply in love with his beloved and greatly admires her physical appearance. At first glance, one might think that Shakespeare in Sonnet 130 does not seem to think his beloved beautiful since he lists off all the things that are not beautiful about her. However, the beloved is admired by them both, simply in different ways. Spenser idealizes his beloved by comparing her to beautiful and natural things and by using smell to describe her beauty. Shakespeare, on the other hand, does not idealize his beloved; instead, he is honest about her, which may appear as a negative description, but is actually also describing how much he admires her. Echo walked away and then saw Zeus being extra nice to another river nymph. Hera, Zeus wife, came down and Echo tricked her into going the other direction so she would not see Zeus. • 38. Snare Drum History A paradiddle is a rudiment used to practice accents and tempo on the snare drum. Once one learns the paradiddle, it could be identified in nearly every rock song. However, without the snare drum, the paradiddle would not have that same groove that it does today. Meaning that music would not be the same either. The snare drumis the catalyst for a clear majority of the music played today. The snare drum dates to as far as 6000 BCE in Mesopotamia. Back then, it was simply a square piece of clay that could be hit with a stick. The idea of a strand on the drum did not exist until the 1400s with the Tabor at its prime. The Swiss and Ottoman empires used it during military expeditions. The Tabor evolved into what s known as a field drum , which is a larger drum that was carried by a strap. This drum still rattled every time it was struck. It wasn t until the 1600s that there was a screw used to hold the cover of the drum down. This gave the drum the sharp and tight snapping sound heard today. It could be argued that once the drum was made of brass, that s when it became known as the snare drum.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why? Because there s nothing like it. It s typically a small drum, but it can have a variety of sounds that affect the tone and tempo of a song. The very composition of the snare itself makes a huge difference. For instance, a triple flanged hooped snare would ring longer, making the strikes, and rolls more intense, or more melodic. Also, metal shells are more durable, allowing heavier rim shots that add a heavier feel to a song. Muffling the snare can also incredibly impact the sound. Some drummers tend not to muffle it at all, leaving the sound to be pure and unadulterated. Some drummers muffle the snare to the point where the sound is more felt and less heard. All types of snare drums serve their purpose as a staple in any drum kit for many genres of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another huge issue of poverty is lack of education. Without a proper education, the poor will stay in poverty . This happens because without a proper education most employers will ignore the application to the job, because of the lack of knowledge that you may have. More commonly, people with a higher education receive more job opportunities. A 2003 study sponsored by the National Center for Children in Poverty found that in families whose income falls below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Line children score far below average on reading, math and general knowledge tests. A lack of education perpetuates poverty and breaking this cycle is key to overcoming persistent poverty in the world. That being said, in order for us to eliminate poverty we need to get our students into better education system and take action for our students to learn so the cycle can end. Last but most definitely not least, issue that causes poverty is divorce. This includes the development of tumors and eventually the invasion of other tissues. Metastasis of tumor cell undergoes multiple steps: invasion, intravasation, extravasation, survival and proliferation (Sethi Kang, 2011; Van Zijl, Krupitza, Mikulits, 2011). As GJPs have been described to provide a conduit for intracellular communication, it has been shown in many reports where connexin channels provided the means of initial metastatic lesion formation to the vasculature. Once the metastatic tumor cells invade into the blood circulation (intravasation), these cells will then be able to spread to other locations (i.e. from the breast to the brain). The effects of COX2 being coexpressed with either Cx32 or Cx26 showed contrasting results. With the induced expression of Cx26, propagation of radiation damage to neighboring DNA can be seen (figure (1,2)). On the contrary, the expression of Cx32 helped reduce the spread through bystander effect (Zhao, de Toledo, Hu, Hei, Azzam, 2014). Since different subtypes of connexins have a different permeability to signaling molecules, Cx32 may have a lower permeability to different secondary messengers.
