Dr. Decker s For Restorative Treatment
Mrs. Perdaris is a patient who comes to Dr. Decker s for restorative treatment. She needs many dental
procedures to repair her deteriorating oral health, including bone loss, receiving partial dentures of
both maxillary and mandibular arches, as well as extraction of #7, 8, 9, and 10 (all permanent
maxillary incisors). As a temporary solution, a provisional splint is added to allow the teeth to garner
support from neighboring ones during which time periodontal treatment and surgery can be
performed. She ends up postponing the needed periodontal treatment and fractures her splint on
several occasions. Mrs. Perdaris requests that Dr. Decker makes a more durable and esthetic splint
while she deals with personal issues that will keep her away ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Doing the periodontal therapy would insure that the patient is going to achieve her optimal oral health
status again. If the patient did not follow the proposed treatment plan, her periodontal health would
only continue to be compromised and deteriorate further with time. Furthermore, if such progression
continued, it would not be appropriate to do crowns on the patient. In a jeopardized periodontal
situation, any crowns Mrs. Perdaris would receive are bound to fail. She will end up in a worse oral
health status than she started out.
The next principle to discuss is the principle of autonomy. Not only is this one of the core values in the
hierarchy model, but also one of the five principles mentioned in ADA s Code of Ethics. According to
the ADA, patient autonomy matters just as much as the dentist s patterns of practice. However, Dr.
Decker should focus on what is going to be best for the patent in long term. In the Dental Ethics at
Chairside textbook, the dentist is mentioned to be the expert in dental treatment. The patient has every
right to dictate their treatment under the principle of autonomy, but ultimately the patient lacks the
knowledge what all entails each dental treatment plan option. This idea is expressed in the Guild
Model which idealizes the foundation of placing the decision making in the sole hands of the dentist.
In this model, the

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Mobile Ad-Hoc Network
MANET A mobile ad hoc network is a self configuring infrastructure less network of mobile devices
connected by wireless. . Each device in a MANET is free to move independently in any direction, and
will therefore change its links to other devices frequently. Each must forward traffic unrelated to its
own use, and therefore be a router. The primary challenge in building a MANET is equipping each
device to continuously maintain the information required to properly route traffic.
A routing protocol is required to find routes between nodes within the network. We are presenting two
different routing protocols and their evaluation and then provide a comparison and discussion of their
respective advantages and drawbacks. ABR (Associativity Based Routing) and RSR (Robust Source
Routing) protocol. In ABR protocol, a route is selected based on nodes having associativity states that
imply periods of stability. The ABR protocol is suitable for mobility in ad hoc wireless networks.
Whereas the RSR is secure, on demand, multi path, source routing protocol. ... Show more content on

INTRODUCTION
The ABR is a source initiated routing protocol. In ABR a route is selected based on the degree of
stability associated with mobile nodes. Association stability is defined by connection stability of one
node with respect to another node over time and space. Each node generates a beacon to signify its
existence. When received by neighboring nodes, the beacon causes their associativity tables to be
updated. The route discovery is accomplished by a Broadcast Query Reply (BQ REPLY) cycle.
When a discovered route is no longer desired, the source node initiates a Route Delete broadcast so
that all the nodes along the route update their routing tables.

Epigenetic Engineering Personal Statement
I was fascinated to discover that my namesake was the co discoverer of DNA, and, as a child, this
coincidence undoubtedly influenced my love of science. I followed the scientific developments of the
21st century with interest particularly genome project research. My studies continue to direct me
towards this field: I want to be part of this on going scientific revolution, which is constantly changing
and influencing how we live our lives. My interest in biology grew with the IGCSE course, especially
its introduction to fundamental genetic engineering. Further inspired by the AS syllabus, I broadened
my knowledge by reading the New Scientist. Williams and Dunbar s recent article raised a concept I
hadn t considered before: that humans and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such reading complemented my Extended Project Qualification: whether germ line gene therapy can
be a viable and ethical treatment for cystic fibrosis. Gene therapy is a controversial topic; my EPQ has
revealed to me the intense ethical debates that surround cutting edge science. Work experience at
Fujifilm Diosynth confirmed that research and practical lab work for biology and chemistry is
something I enjoy. The scientists gave me amazing opportunities to apply my knowledge to situations,
such as analysing optical density results taken from a running bioreactor. I got to see the precision
behind academic research and was taught laboratory skills used in industry every day, including the
use of gram staining to differentiate between bacterial species, and SDS PAGE gels to separate
proteins. Life at a molecular level particularly interests me, as it combines chemistry and biology to
explain concepts such as Systems Chemistry and the origins of life. Why chemical reactions happen
by J Keeler and P Wothers helped me to understand these ideas, as well as complementing my A level
chemistry course. I tested my chemistry and problem solving

Archetypes In Frankenstein
Victor Frankenstein, in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, portrays both a Byronic hero and a tragic hero.
Characteristics of both of these types of hero archetypes shape Victor by depicting him as a victim,
despite the fact that he created the monster, and these characteristics shape the themes of the novel.
Victor has characteristics of a Byronic hero, which shapes his character and the themes. A Byronic
hero is a melancholy and rebellious young man, distressed by a terrible wrong he committed in the
past (The Definition of Byronic Hero). Victor is clearly troubled from creating the monster, as seen in:
his stature...exceed that of a man. I was troubled; a mist came over my eyes, and I felt a faintness seize
me (Shelly 93). The way Victor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theses qualities portray Victor as the victim and innocent, which is ironic since he created the monster
which caused all the destruction and terror. Victor portraying himself as a victim caused all of the
tragedies to occur fairly quickly, because he could have gone to authorities earlier and they might have
treated him differently. The victim act brings up the complexity of the relationship between Victor and
the creature; since he created the monster he should be in control of the relationship, yet the monster is
in control and powerful since Victor is innocent. Victor is not a victim of the creature, but a victim of
fate and free will, yet Victor refuses to believe that he had any decision in this matter and blames it all
on fate. These qualities also call attention to the theme of parenting since the creature upsets Victor
and he refuses to take care of it and how the lack of parental influence can cause somebody to make
bad decisions. This again brings attention to the paradoxical relationship between the creature and
Frankenstein, since the creature is more powerful than the creator. Byronic and tragic hero
characteristics combine in Frankenstein because Victor is a melancholic man who made a error in the
past which causes his downfall. The combination of these two type of heroes allows Victor to be a
victim and brings in the theme of

A Brief Introduction to the Pinch Analysis
The economics of industrial production, limitation of global energy supply, and the realities of
environmental conservation are an enduring concern for all industries. Wherever you turn, there s
another entreaty to save energy, reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment for posterity.
Pinch analysis is a tools used to design a heat exchanger networks (HEN) that reduce the energy
usage. This paper will be about brief introduction for the pinch analysis, application of the second law
of thermodynamics in design heat exchanger network
Pinch Analysis:
Pinch technology is the technology that provides a systematic methodology for energy saving in
processes and total sites. The methodology is based upon first low and second low of ... Show more

Minimizing the total entropy produced by heat exchanger network lead to minimizing the use of high
energy quality. The entropy can define for single heat exchanger i.e. exchange heat of one hot stream
with one cold stream as
S=∮▒dS=∫▒dq/T
S=∫_(T_Hi)^(T_Ho)▒(C_H dT_H)/T_H ∫_(T_Ci)^(T_Co)▒(C_C dT_C)/T_C
〖S=C〗_C ln⁡
〖(T_Co/T_Ci 〗) C_H ln⁡
〖(T_Hi/T_Hi 〗)
Sets of heat exchanger network will have constant total entropy when they use same type and amount
of utilities. On the other hand, the entropy will vary for networks having different types and amount of
utilities. The networks entropy that is used high energy qualities is higher than the one that used low
energy qualities. The changes come from using high energy qualities, and this lead to have higher
temperature different in some heat exchangers, hence high entropy. Due to that, the total area of the
networks also will vary with the use of different utilities since total area is in related with temperature
different in heat exchanger. As the temperature different increase the area will decrease.
Furthermore, total entropy can be used as objected furcation in mathematical programing. Total
entropy can help to find total energy required with from each energy levels in small code.
Case study:
The objective of this case study is show the change of total entropy when different types of utility

Essay On Aspartame
In this paper the author wants to talk about this phony sugar that is slowly poisoning the masses. Silent
killer who, disguise it s self as an alternative sugar, this so called sugar known as aspartame. But to
bring to light two solutions that could end this ferocious ploy by the greedy government and enterprise
benefiting from this fake sugar. The two solutions that were to be proposed are unrefined cane sugar
and educations.
Aspartame is extremely poisonous, and here is why. One of the toxic ingredients of Aspartame is
wood alcohol. When the temperature of Aspartame exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in the
Aspartame is converted to formaldehyde, and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic
acidosis. Formaldehyde is grouped in the same class of poisons as Cyanide and Arsenic which are
very deadly toxins. The only difference is... Formaldehyde kills quietly, and it takes a little longer.
And, in the process of killing people, it causes all kinds of neurological problems. (Harder, 2016)

Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
In this case, the relevant parties are Bilbo Baggins acting as plaintiff, and Orc Industries Corporation
acting as defendant. This case originates from the dismissal of Baggins as an employee of Orc
Industries in May 2007 under the grounds of dishonesty and for coming to work under the influence of
alcohol. Orc Industries hired Baggins in December 2006 to assist in the construction of a foundry.
After organizing agreements with unions and contractors, Baggins was accused by Orc Industries for
arriving at work drunk, citing an empty whiskey bottle found in his desk as evidence. The main issue
in this case is Orc Industries terminated Baggin s employment without just cause. It is stated in the law
that, If an employer alleges they had cause for the dismissal, the burden is on them to prove that there
was just cause (Ministry of Labour). The definition of just cause is described as the conduct that
amounts to a fundamental breach of the employment contract , which in this case there was a lack of
sufficient evidence to support that any breach of the contract had occurred (Canada Legal). Orc
Industries claims that the empty bottle of whiskey is sufficient proof, although this is not conclusive
evidence that Baggins was ever drunk at work and thus is not sufficient grounds for terminating his
employment (DuPlessis et al, 2013). Since Orc Industries did not fulfill their burden of proof for just
cause to dismiss Baggins, Baggins can successfully sue Orc Industries for wrongful

Women During The 19th Century Essay
Although corsets at this time led to broken bones and a death in 1665 (Olsen 74), this garment was
worn throughout the 18th century. During this period, Turkish harem women wore clothes most
similar to ours. They wore cloaks over their chemise and loose trousers while also being veiled (Olsen
59). This era marked conservatism in women s clothes. During the first wave movement, fashion did
not become dynamic until the 1900s. In 1851, dress reformers tried to popularize a pair of baggy pants
beneath a knee length tunic (Olsen 125). Although this effort was unsuccessful, it marks the beginning
of dress reform and sixty five years later, hem lengths would rise by ten inches (Olsen 177). The
1920s marked the era of the flappers, when the use of makeup became commonplace and women wore
knee length dresses and bared more skin (Olsen 207, 214). A few decades after, pants would be
allowed, introducing scandalous shorts along with it. Although heavily criticized, the stigma of shorts
lessened, showing us more familiar styles. Dress reform went full force in this era.
Fashion during the second wave feminism was marked the increase of more comfortable clothing.
Women were primarily working in factories for the war effort, so their dress was consisted mainly of
pants and high collared shirts []. Fashion in this era would eventually go towards flashy padded
shoulders and colorful pants [].

The Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Reaction
The Effect of Temperature on the Rate of Reaction Aim We is going to investigate how temperature
effects the rate of reaction when we use a Magnesium Ribbon and dissolve it in Hydrochloric Acid.
Different Variables There are four different variables that effect the rate of reaction, surface area,
concentration, temperature and catalysts. Here is some information on each variable with diagrams.
How does surface area effect rate of reaction? In a substance the rate of reaction will be quicker if it
has a large surface area. However, if it has a small surface area the rate of reaction is much slower.
Rate of Reaction is much faster if the surface area is larger because much more of the ... Show more

6) The Bunsen burner will be lit using a match, put on the blue flame and placed under the beaker. 7)
When the temperature reaches 25°C, on the thermometer (It shouldn t take long as it is around room
temperature, anyway), we will take the test tube out of the water and place one of the pieces of
Magnesium Ribbon in the Hydrochloric Acid. We will start the stopwatch (a stopwatch gives us very
accurate readings when recording time) as soon as the Magnesium Ribbon hits the Hydrochloric Acid.
8) When the Magnesium Ribbon has completely disappeared, we shall stop the stopwatch and record
the time it took for the Magnesium Ribbon to disappear. 9) This process will be repeated for 25°C,
twice. Then we will do the same experiment for the other temperatures, doing each temperature three
times. The plan/method above is a very good way of carrying out the experiment. This is because the
rate of reaction is effected by temperature. Using the Bunsen burner makes this plan a good way of
carrying out this experiment. As the Hydrochloric acid will be heated using the blue flame, it will heat
up faster so the results for each temperature can be obtained quickly. Also using a stopwatch makes
the plan a very good way of carrying out the experiment because it is very precise when recording
how long it takes for something to happen. List of equipment Here is a list of equipment that we

Cutting the price on auto insurance coverage is challenging, however you can get auto insurance
coverage discounts if you re willing to do the research. You won t lower your rates unless you

The first thing to do is shop around. Be sure that the rate quotes you re getting from the different
automobile insurance companies are based on the same coverage limits.
Be aware of all the conditions and amounts that are covered in your price quote. It is also important to
know how many months your rate quote represents. Some companies provide quotes for a 12 month

Insurance providers use logic in determining your premium amount, and the less time you spend
behind the wheel of your automobile, the less likely you are to be involved in an accident. Providers
have different opinions about what they determine to be infrequent drivers, so be sure to ask if this
situation applies to you. Be aware that some companies will actually take a peek at your odometer
each year so they can be sure you deserve this discount.
Your credit rating can also play a part in the premiums you pay for auto insurance. Having a good
credit rating will tell your insurance company you are a better risk than someone with a shaky credit
history. This factor is based on studies done by insurance companies. It may not seem fair, but you can
use it to your advantage. Clear up any inaccuracies before applying for auto insurance.
Automobile coverage discounts are probably available to you, so make sure you understand how the
policies work and check with several auto insurance carriers before buying from an insurance
coverage provider. The work can really pay

Representation of Women in Poetry
How have the composers of the poems you will be discussing constructed their representations of
women? Compare and contrast the themes and values represented in your two chosen poems.
The representation of women have changed throughout the course of history. The Ruined Maid
composed by Thomas Hardy and I Am Man made by Susan Wicks both incorporate similar values of
the submissive nature of women, yet do not fail to integrate two very different values of female
sexuality and male dominance, respectively. With reference to two visual texts, both poems
successfully assimilate various literary and visual techniques such as irony, repetition, lighting and
tone of voice.

An image which conveys the theme of a woman s submissive nature and male dominance is image 2
where it shows many Barbie dolls all wearing short black dresses. The submissive nature of women is
portrayed in image 2 as it addresses the notion of women being items that can be used and changed
into what ever the society wants. The Barbie doll is a symbolism of the world of fantasy, many kids

In the poems The Ruined Maid and I Am Man made , the submissive nature of women is explored in
various ways. Hardy s poem involves the idea of being ruined and depicts women as being weaker

it becomes obvious that the social position between a woman and a man are vastly different. When

Rationale For Considering Values And Preferences
How the guideline panels use the information: rationale for considering values and preferences
Values and preferences impact the strength of recommendations, together with other factors. If the
variability exists for patient values, the strength of recommendation is weak, indicating
recommendations may not apply to specific patient subgroup. Guideline readers and clinical
practitioners need to pay special attention to weak recommendations and accompanying values and
preferences under these scenarios.2
The systematic review on utilities suggested major bleeding equivalent to nonfatal pulmonary
embolism; while intracranial bleed overall was 2 to 3 times worse than major bleed or pulmonary
embolism. This relative importance helps guideline panels to weigh the balance of benefits and risks
and make the decision accordingly. 16
Considered as significant factors in producing recommendations, the extent to which the values and
preferences vary and the extent to which the panellists are confident about the estimates and their
variation can influence the strength of the recommendation. If the patient values and preferences are
uncertain, or vary across different patient subgroups, the strength of recommendation should be weak.

Gender Socialization In Western Culture
Even before a child is born, we have already labeled that child as either a boy or a girl. Then as they
grow up we subject them to gender socialization, which is the process in which cultures communicate
their expectations about gender to the child (Arnett, 135). I grew up in a small town; however, it was
not like the stereotypical, very conservative, small town that is often portrayed in movies. My
experience in Western culture, which is immensely different than that of other cultures, is that gender
socialization was prevalent during childhood, but became more relaxed during adolescents and
emerging adulthood. From as far back as I can remember, differential gender socialization took place
during childhood. Parents taught their children that objects such as dolls and dresses were for girls,
while objects like trucks and guns were meant for boys. I remember one time that my female cousin
came over to visit and we decided that we want to partake in a battle similar to one the boys conducted
when they played. We ended up whipping Legos at each other, which in hindsight was a very
dangerous and painful idea, because the Nerf guns were my brothers and girls were not allowed to
touch them. These differential gender socializations could continue to be seen in preschool and early
grade school years. When allowed free time to play in preschool, girls played with the kitchen set
while boys often played with cars or blocks. If a child were to attempt to play in the opposite

Parts 1 and 2 will be presented to Council for validation and discussion with HAF representatives.
File Survey Overview
HAF T5 programme Objectives
The aim of the Target 5 Days (HAF T5) project is to reduce government s impact on the development
assessment process through reductions in assessment time. This will reduce the holding costs and
infrastructure costs for applicants, contributing greatly to the bottom line overheads experienced by
developers, both professional and non professional (without considering the greater issue of land
supply).
The objectives of HAF T5 project are to deliver process reform such that Councils in SEQ will
deliver:
Reduced assessment timeframe for 95% of residential development applications; and
75% reduction in approval timeframe for residential developments with a five day turn around for low
risk/complying applications.
Residential Application Focus
The typical types of applications that were surveyed are:
Reconfiguration of lots up to 50 lots;
Dual Occupancies (Duplexes);
Multiple Unit Developments (generally 6 or less);
Boundary Realignments; and
Houses in overlays (e.g. character,

Not Paying Taxes
Let s face facts, it can get confusing handling a business s finances. Payroll alone includes having to
figure out things like figuring out tax reductions, keeping records, reporting employee s income, etc
and so on. The good news is that there is a way to avoid all of that. You can just pay your employees
under the table. For those unfamiliar with the term, paying an employee under the table means they
get paid off the record. You give them cash for their time instead of an official paycheck. No taxes, no
reporting, and no confusion. This is more commonly found in smaller businesses. There is a catch
though, if you are caught paying your employees under the table, a whole world of stress is going to
land on your shoulders.
Why do we pay taxes? Because taxes are kind of like the rent we have to pay to live in this country.
They pay for our infrastructure, our schools, our government funded programs, and much more. Not
everyone likes paying them, but simply put, taxes keep our country in motion. When you don t pay
taxes, you are not doing your part to help keep America moving forward. If that rousing speech didn t
convince you that paying employees under the table isn t worth the risk, this next part sure will.

Improvements through Grid and Utility Computing
Introduction
In the competitive business world of today, companies have to strive to be the best. They have to

ways to perform more efficiently. If a company is efficient in their capabilities then the typical results
are the business has lower costs and/or they are performing to the best of their abilities. All companies
in today s world strive for all these things because they know if they do not they will fall behind and

This gave birth to today s idea of grid computing.
Grid computing is a large number of servers acting as one computer (oracle.com). This idea works on
the concept of grids. A grid is a combination of severs, networks, storage, and information working
together. These things work together to, create one or more large pools of computing resources
(grid.ziffdavis.com). A grid is unique in that it can be molded and changed to fit the specific needs and
demands of each business. Grid is a type of parallel and distributed system that enable the sharing
selection, and aggregation of geographically distributed autonomous resources dynamically at runtime
depending on their availability, capability, performance, cost, and users quality of service requirements
(gridcomputing.com). It is based on the idea of cooperation and being able to sharing information. It is
different from the idea of the internet because instead of sending the information to others, it is all
stored in one place together which is accessible. The grid allows the organization s users to share their
information and the company s application with one another easily. No matter where the members are
in a company they are able to access and use the information that other employees have on the grid.
Each member of the company is able to access applications and company information. Utility
computing on the other hand is based on an

Abnormal Intracellular Zinc Metabolism Caused By...
Abnormal Intracellular Zinc Metabolism Caused by Disruption of the TRPL1 TMEM163 Protein
Interaction
Keywords: Zinc, TRP ion channel, Lysosomes, TMEM163, MLIV
Mucolipidosis type IV (MLIV) is a human lysosomal storage disorder characterized early in life by
neurodegeneration, visual impairment, low muscle tone, and impaired secretion of gastric acid1.
MLIV is caused by loss of function mutations or deletions in the Mucolipin 1 gene2 resulting in the
absence or a dysfunctional protein product called transient receptor potential mucolipin 1 (TRPML1)
ion channel. TRPML1 consists of six predicted transmembrane (TM) domains with channel features
showing inward rectification, and non selective permeability to calcium (Ca2+), zinc (Zn2+), iron
(Fe2+), and manganese (Mn2+) 3. Some of the cellular phenotypic characteristics of TRPML1
dysfunction include hyperacidic lysosomes, lysosomal swelling, and lipid accumulation. More
recently, irregular levels of specific trace metals have been suggested to contribute to the abnormal
cellular phenotype, as well as the progressive cell degeneration associated with TRPML1
dysfunction4.
The permeability of Zn2+ to TRPML1 suggests that this ion channel may play a role in Zn2+
regulation. A recent investigation of cytoplasmic Zn2+ accumulation in TRPML1 dysfunctional cells
suggests the possibility that this protein may normally function to transfer Zn2+ from the lysosome to
the cytoplasm5. Other studies suggest a significant increase of Zn2+ in the

Teen Pregnancy And Its Effect On Children
My mother always said You are a princess and your body is a temple, so treat it like one . As I grew
up, that was the phrase that made a profound impact on my childhood. My parents felt that for me to
be confident and successful, I would have to be at peace emotionally and physically during the most
crucial years of my growth. They always said Do not become another one of the statistics! . In my
early teenage years I believed that they kept me sheltered, but now in my freshmen year of college, I
could not be more thankful for their guidance and protection. At the time I did not understand what
she meant, but after my years in high school it all made sense. I, like many other teens, would gain
knowledge on relationships and sexuality. In this country teen pregnancy has high increase in
minorities, one of the main reasons why the population is expanding. It is through proper knowledge
of sexuality and protection that female teens are able to prevent pregnancy.
Coming from a family of immigrants, I have many life goals. I always enjoyed school and participated
in extracurricular activities. My parents emphasized that keeping myself healthy and well rounded
would grant me virtue and confidence. All of middle and high school I played tennis for my school
and club team. While I kept myself fit, my coaches and mentors continually motivated me, even when
I struggled. Outside of class, I participated in Model United Nations and spent a great amount of time

Waterfall and Extreme Programming are two software project methods used for project management.
Although there are a number of opinions comparing the two methods regarding how they should be
applied, none have used project data to clearly conclude which one is better. In this paper, we present
the results of a controlled empirical study conducted at

The faculty decided to use Extreme Programming as the method for the Foundations course because it
was an agile method, it had good engineering practices, and it was a safe sandbox environment for
engineers to try paired programming since many managers in industry were initially skeptical about its
benefits. In 2005, the faculty allowed three of the sixteen teams tried our new curriculum to see if
there were any serious issues in the switch, while other thirteen teams continued to follow a start point
in 2004. The feedback was extremely positive so in 2006, all teams followed Extreme Programming.
For the project plan duration, Waterfall teams needed fifteen weeks to finish their tasks where as
Extreme Programming teams were given only thirteen weeks, a 13% reduction in time.
1.2.2. PET 1.1: In 2005, the VP of Engineering advised the three teams that rewriting the code from
scratch would be easier than working with the existing code base. Team 30:1 decided to use the latest
in Java technologies including Swing and Hibernate. PET 1.1, the team s product became the starting
point for the students in the following year.
1.2.3. PET 1.2: In 2008, the faculty switched the core technology from Java to Ruby on

The Philadelphia Museum Of Art Museum
The Philadelphia Museum of Art was my first time to an art museum, and overall I think it was a good
experience. When I thought of an art museum, I thought it was going to be all paintings. But as it turns
out, that idea was wrong. There were lots of other forms of art there as well. The exhibit that I enjoyed
the most was the International Pop exhibit. But there were also many other exhibits that I enjoyed as
well. Some of those include; European, American, Arms and Armor. All every interesting exhibits that
everyone should see. But those are not all, when going to this museum, every exhibit should be looked
at, all have very interesting things in them. The International pop exhibit was one of my favorite out of
all the exhibits. The International Pop navigates a fast paced world packed with bold and thought
provoking imagery, revealing a vibrant period shaped by social, political, and cultural changes . One
piece of art that I found interesting was Still Life by Tom Wesselmann, American, 1931 2004 . When
looking at this piece if reminds me of different time. This piece reminds me of other art works that I
have seen with the same kinds of things on it as well. Another work of art that I enjoyed was the
20th/21st Century Tribute by Antônio Henrique Amaral , this painting makes the viewer actually stop
and look at it. There are many different parts to this painting too look at. When walking through the
museum, this was definitely something that catches ones eye.

Sylvia Plath Superego In The Bell Jar
When looked at through a Freudian lens, The Bell Jar is a love letter from Sylvia Plath to the idea of
suicide. Through her character Esther, Plath depicts the path that leads to suicide: the inner turmoil
that causes the desire for a release; the ideation of suicide as a solution; and finally, the attempt. Esther
s desire to die spawned from being unable to reconcile her id and her superego. Her id was her desire
to adventure, to make something special of her life; her superego, the part of her that understood her
place in society at the time, that she was expected to be a wife and mother and stay home. Esther s
inability to choose between a career and a family caused dissonance in her mind that she imagined
would cause her to die, saying she saw [her]self sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death,
just because [she] couldn t make up [her] mind which of the figs [she] would choose. ... Show more

Plath s descriptions of suicide and death are calm and beautiful, such as, The thought I might kill
myself formed in my mind as coolly as a tree or a flower, and I thought it would be easy, lying in the

to sleep under a surface gaudy as poppies. Flowers blooming are typically symbols of rebirth, making
these descriptions give the idea that Plath considered suicide to be a way to cleanse herself of the

Explain Why William Became Involved in Wales in the Years...
June 2010 optional question 3 Explain why William became involved in Wales in the years 1066 to
1087 (12) Plan * Wanted to assert his authority over them * Had to keep Wales at bay because the
border kept shifting * Rebels that went against William went to Wales for safety The main reason that
William became involved in Wales shortly after he had taken England was because he would have
seen the Welsh as a threat. Along with many other countries, they would have known that the situation
in England was unstable and William may have thought Wales were planning an invasion. To assert
his authority over Wales, he led a campaign into their country in 1066 and an even larger one in 1081

Also, Scotland could provide refuge for anyone that had rebelled against William (including Edgar)
which would have furthered the tensions. The disputes of land had also caused problems for William.
Lands such as Cumbria and Northumbria were disputed between Malcolm and William. This became
worrying for William because parts of his kingdom were being threatened to be taken from him which
would give Malcolm more land and support against William. However, the threat of Scotland was not
as substantial as some historians make it out to be. In 1072, William marched through Scotland with
relative ease. Although Williams army was fearfully exposed according to Purser, the Scottish did not
capitalize on this opportunity. This could be interpreted as Malcolm showing he did not want to fight
against William. This point links into the treaty of Abernethy. In the same year Malcolm met William
at abernethy and signed a treaty which shown that he recognised William as his superior. According to
purser, in good faith , Malcolm kicked Edgar out of his court which would have made further
rebellions in the north very difficult. Overall, Scotland was initially a threat around the time of the
Northern rebellion however the treaty of Abernathy played a main factor in extinguishing the threat of

How Did Donatello Tell The Story Of The Annunciation
In your own words, explain how Donatello has told the story of The Annunciation in sculpture and
why contemporaries were so impressed with his achievement.
Donatello is considered to be one of the most influential artists of the 15th century. A
member of the innovative group of painters, architects and sculptors that revolutionised art in
Florence at the beginning of the 15th century, he succeeded in becoming perhaps the most successful
in his field due to his understanding of the aspects of classical sculpture and the creative and
emotive way in which he adapted them to his own works. In particular, his reliefs surpassed all

responsible for the poor taste of this mixture of decorative features borrowed from various

The story of the Annunciation is one that focuses on the centuries long Islamic perspective of
judgement and expectation of others, especially women. Set during a period of time where the
sacred nature of a woman s purity was highly valued, the angel Gabriel s message to the Virgin
Mary was not one entirely void of danger and aprehension. An unwed mother would undoubtedly
be persecuted by her peers and this is the danger that Mary faced with the deliverance of the news.
Donatello s job was to not only create a skilled and beautiful piece of art but also to depict the
varying emotions of the scene in such a way as to convey to his audience the true story of the
Annunciation in all it s different aspects.
The placement of the figure of the Virgin is especially successful in displaying a sense of shock on
her part. Frightened by the appearance of the angel, she has delicately turned her body away from
him to the left while her right arm covers her left breast in surprise. He left arm hangs lower as she

needs to make to the current policy and what aspects should remain the same. This paper will first
discuss what our current policy is, then transition its focus to immigration quotas, border patrol and
security, and lastly discussing refugees. In order to reform the immigration policy, we must have an
open policy for refugees. We will allow refugees to enter while still maintaining secure background

This approach has great potential, but the influx of illegal immigrants will increase dramatically, and
this would never pass in congress. Our government should go the route of the 1986 and 2007
approach. This approach includes not letting illegal immigrants have immediate amnesty, but it put all
illegal immigrants in the U.S. at the time on a track to legalization (Bhagwati, Rivera Batiz, pg. 2). We
need to do this with the current eleven million illegal immigrants and then strengthen our boarders to
ensure we don t have as many illegal immigrants entering the country. This will be more effective than
trying to deport all eleven million illegal immigrants, but people are hesitant because people wonder
how this will stop illegal immigration. We can stop future illegal immigration from occurring by
promoting self deportation. After getting all eleven million immigrants on their path to citizenship, we

and housing. If a citizen cannot prove legal immigration status, and they cannot get basic necessities
like housing and work, then they will leave. Along with that, to prevent future illegal immigration our
government should not build a wall, rather we need to hire more border patrol workers to help secure

What Is The 5th Wave Essay
The 5th wave by Rick Yancey opens after aliens have invaded and attacked earth. First, an
electromagnetic pulse cut of all electricity; then, massive tsunamis wiped out three million people;
next a deadly virus killed 97% of the remaining survivors; then the aliens infiltrated the earth, and the
few remaining humans can t trust anyone.
I haven t read many sci fi books, so while going into it, I didn t know what to expect. Books about
alien invasions aren t usually my cup of tea, but I m pleased to say that I enjoyed the book very much.
Yancey manages to describe an invasion by aliens that makes you think that this is how it might
actually happen. Some people head off to Disney World while others hunker down in bunkers.

Legalization of Same-Sex Marriage
Gay Marriage Gay marriage has become more and more important to more and more people in the
recent past. Many people want gay people to be allowed to get married. They say that marriage is a
right, not a privilege. People who oppose gay marriage say that marriage is defined as a union of one
man and one woman. Many people, who otherwise are very supportive of a homosexual s rights, say
that they shouldn t be allowed to marry simply because two people of the same sex can t get married.
According to The Washington Post a record high of fifty nine percent of Americans say that they
support gay marriage while only thirty four percent say that they are opposed to it. When asked to
consider The Constitution and what it says about equal rights, the numbers are similar but not the
same. When considering what the Constitution says, fifty percent of people say the Constitution
guarantees anyone the right to marry while forty one percent say it does not. As far as allowing same
sex marriage from state to state, 17 allow same sex marriage while 33 ban it by state law,

and a woman, that is regulated by laws, rules, customs, beliefs, and attitudes that prescribe the rights
and duties of the partners and accords status to their offspring . Many argue that a homosexual couple

Gay Dance Clubs Essay example
The dance club is no longer an exclusive venue drawing together people with similar musical
interests. Instead, it has become the commercialized superclub, where profit rather than music is the
bottom line. As a space traditionally influenced by homosexuals becomes a major business
opportunity, this commercialization has led to the inclusion of gay subcultures within mainstream
American society. However, this process has served to reinforce social stigma and stereotypes. The
advertising and club environment designed to sell the experience to the gay customer is founded on
the overtly sexual club culture of the 1970s and early 80s. On the dance floor the constructed image of
the club combines with the inherent sexual and mind altering ... Show more content on

In many clubs, the underground days of clubbing past have been replaced with the homogenized
superclubs of the present: gigantic, multi floored venues attracting thousands to listen to the music
makers spin. Gone too are the days of exclusivity. As club culture has been mainstreamed,
entrepreneurs have found the new sound not only revolutionary, but also profitable. Promoters and
planners such as gay circuit guru John Blair offer free membership cards and litter the streets with
flyers offering discounts when shown at the door. In the world of the superclub, capitalism and profits
shape dance culture.
With the popularizing of club culture has come an equal mainstreaming of its components. As Fiona
Buckland discusses in her book Impossible Dance: Club Culture and Queer World Making, the music
of today s clubs such as garage, hard house and Hi NRG imply a historical continuity with gay parties
of the 1970s with deep roots in disco (2002, p. 67). Gay and black influences were a basic part of
disco music, explored in Bernard Weinraub s article Here s to Disco, It Never Could Say Goodbye.
The heritage that once put the music at odds with the more straight white male sensibility of the
contemporary rock music of the era (Weinraub, 2002) is today a basic piece of the dance scene for
straight and gay audiences alike. Now that club culture has become a commodity in the superclub,
bought and sold by promoters and club owners,

Synaptic Geotechnical Factors Influence The Standard...
In fact, synaptic geotechnical factors influence the standard penetration test results of similar sand
soils. Frequently, testing procedures attribute part of these mutations. Therefore, normalizing the
results to a standard rod energy ratio usually eliminate such procedures quandaries (e.g., Skempton,
1986). Moreover, changes in test methods, samplers, hammers, and rods lead to corresponding
variances in N values due to the generated energy losses. Numerous researchers (e.g., Daniel et al.,
2003 and Skempton, 1986) suggested a standard dynamic energy about 60% of the hammer potential
energy (475J) to improve such losses as shown below: Where ENTHRU is, the measured dynamic

Skempton, 1986, expressed Meyerhof s relation in a general form as follows: Where  v is in (kPa).
Accordingly, the following equation can represent the normalized N1 to DR2 under  v = 98 (kPa):
Skempton, 1986, assumed that (a+b) for sandy soils have a constant value of 41 while Tatsuoka et al.,
1978, examined the accuracy of such assumption. They suggested that such value of 41 is
underestimating the relative density of fine sands and silty sands, whereas, it overestimates the relative
density of coarse gravelly sands. Additionally, Ishihara, 1993, and Cubrinovski and Ishihara, 1999
2000, reported similar conclusions. Skempton, 1986, also included the effect of D50 by declaring that
N values are higher for sands having larger D50 under a given relative density and overburden stress.
Also under the same testing circumstances, the tendency to increase the penetration resistance with
increasing the D50 is possibly related to a similar trend of the angle of internal friction ϕ. While
Cubrinovski and Ishihara, 1999 2000, clearly pointed out that two sand soils having identical fine
content can show remarkably inconsistent stress strain characteristics. Thus, they recommended that
(emax emin) and DR are the most appropriate parameters to explain the behavior of sands. Initially,
they correlated between D50 and (emax emin)

The Deepwater Horizon Disaster Analysis
The Deepwater horizon disaster portrays the weaknesses in the current drilling technology,
management and design procedures. The outcome of the disaster shows high level of unawareness and
unpreparedness, in the drilling companies. In this section, the report proposes various steps, which
shall not only prepare the team, but also offer a guideline towards the response, in the case a similar
disaster in the future. The proposed solutions include high tech exploration, categorization of the
disasters and the restructuring of management hierarchy in the companies.
1. Conduct high tech hazard exploration
The oil and gas industry should embark on an important next generation series of high tech hazard
exploration systems. It should be done in the deep and ultra deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The
researchers and engineers at onboard relied on the information collected from small scale operations,
which were mainly conducted in the shallow waters. As a result, they had little information, and they
underestimated the magnitude of the disaster. This step is essential because it would have saved the
Deepwater horizon. The assessment should not only be done by BP, but also be a regulation to all
drilling companies, in order to prevent similar disasters in the future.
2. Categorize the disasters into variable magnitudes
The failures identified after the disaster showed that the consequences of the major offshore oil and
gas system failures can be categorized into various orders

Social Worker Errors
According to Reamer (2005) every social worker is capable of inadvertently inserting incorrect facts
into and omitting important facts from case documentation. To deal with such inconsistences, social
workers should always acknowledge their errors and make clear that the new entry occurred after the
error was discovered (Reamer, 2005). Most importantly, take steps to be honest and sincere with
injured parties, during which social workers accept responsibility for any mistakes they may have
made (Reamer, 2008). Moreover, social workers have a duty to respond to errors in a way that protects
and minimizes harm to the clients (Reamer, 2008). Thus, it is even more important to remain aware of
the potentially harmful consequences not only of our actions, but also of our failures to act (Pope,
2005). Reamer (2008) also believes that social workers must recognize that they have self interested
reasons to respond to error constructively.

Essay On The Us Constitution And The Bill Of Rights
The U.S Constitution and the Bill of Rights are iconic pieces of American History. These two
documents are very important for every American to know and to read critically because it can highly
affect them. However, there are many people in the country that do not know what is exactly in these
documents. I have read through these pieces, and I will be discussing what I found to be most
surprising to find in the piece. Also, the items that I expected to find in the documents that is not there.
Firstly, I will begin with the Constitution. After reading the Constitution, there were many things that I
was shocked to see in there. The first one was in Article 1, section 2. While I knew it mentioned the
number of representatives in the House of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I just figured if there was proof, then there would not need to be multiple witness testimonies. Finally
at the end of Article VII, there is a note of all the mistakes made in the piece, this includes, The Word,
the, being interlined between the seventh and eighth Lines of the first Page, The Word Thirty being
partly written on an Erazure in the fifteenth Line of the first Page, The Words is tried being interlined
between the thirty second and thirty third Lines of the first Page and the Word the being interlined
between the forty third and forty fourth Lines of the second Page. . I did not know that was there. At
first I was very confused as to what exactly those lines meant. However, I feel like that is a nice touch
to keep because it is a reminder of the actual document. In similar fashion, I took a look at the Bill of
Rights. After reviewing the Bill of Rights, there were many things I was surprised to see. The first one
I will start with is the Second Amendment, which states, A well regulated militia, being necessary to
the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. I knew
the Second Amendment gave everyone the right to bear arms, but I did not know it established a well
regulated army for the United States, as well. Everyone around me has just discussed about being able
to have guns not the other items. In the

Janet Watson Case
NRSG258 Assessment 1: Case Study Janet
This essay shall discuss the post operative care of a case study patient Janet Jackson, a 40 year old
single mother of three teenagers who has received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids. She was admitted to
undergo a vaginal hysterectomy under spinal anaesthesia and after two hours in the post anaesthetic
recovery room she returned to the ward. Upon return to the ward she has an indwelling urinary
catheter in situ and patient controlled anaesthetic. Janet is a heavy smoker and as a past history of
depression. This essay will involve the topics of the aetiology and pathophysiology of Janet s
presenting condition, the underlying pathophysiology of her post operative deterioration and the
appropriate nursing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Given her past history of experiencing depression and the potential emotional impact this surgery may
have had on Janet, a psychologist or community psychiatric nurse could be considered a key aspect of
her recovery in helping her address and work through any psychological distress she may currently be
under or find herself falling into during the time following her surgery. Women can harbour attitudes
towards these surgeries ranging from ambivalence and feelings of loss through to relief and joy and a
psychologist has the ability to assist Janet in working through these emotions (Markovic, Manderson,
Warren, 2007); it is important to not assume her sensitivity towards the topic of her surgery but one
must also be aware of the possibility of emotional distress and be prepared to provide the support she

L. Frank Baum s The Wizard Of Oz
Hidden messages are everywhere, whether its in a television episode, newspaper, magazine, book, or
movie in this instance. L. Frank Baum did an excellent job in hiding this political and economic
message in an allegory. This plot was called the Wizard of Oz and was a children s story published in
1897 which contained adult matters. The books storyline was based on the issues that were occurring
in the late nineteenth century during the populist era debates. Every character in this story represents a
specific person or message to the overall narrative Baum wanted to tell. Geographically, this story
starts in Kansas City, which is not a surprise since the populist movement began in this area. It also
references the Democratic convention of 1900, showing that this is also a political topic as well. Now
the East part of America was seen as the supreme land of the gold standards since an ounce of gold
was a significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The silver currency part of America is represented through the shows that the Wicked Witch of the
East leaves behind after dying. This epitomizes both the silver component of a bimetallic standard and
the ability for the people to make the currency that is needed to continue growing the economic trend.
The author of this article, Hugh Rockoff, makes a credible point to notice that the Wicked Witches
were created to epitomize eastern business individuals in this area. Also, the yellow brick road that the
main character crosses through is meant to be the physical representation of the gold standard. Most
physical things that had specific colors had a reason to be put in the storyline, therefore this really is a
monetary parable. The first important characters that was later introduced was the Scarecrow, which is
meant to be the average western farmer at that time. Baum

Edward stood up from the table, walked a few paces towards the exit and placed a hand on Tabitha s
shoulder. He turned and stared at the men and women seated in front of him. I must take my leave,
Edward said. I trust you all know what to do as we begin our reelection campaign, and move forward
with our plans. Until we meet again, I hope you all remain hale and hearty, hearty and hale. Everyone
around the table stood and stared straight ahead. Williams pulled himself up from his chair. He was
dizzy, caught in the grip of a vertigo laced migraine. Edward whispered to Tabitha, Come, my dear.
William watched Edward place a finger under Tabitha s chin and lift upward. Tabitha stood and turned
quickly from the table. Edward cast one last ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How is this going to advance liberty? Banks will no longer be able to loan with reckless abandon, and
create money out of thin air; it will be the end of easy credit that ensnares people in the grip of the
federal government. Without that centralized authority, the federal government will forfeit its grip over
monetary policy. Currency will stand on its own. How so? I mean, there ll still be a central
government; you re just clipping its wings a little more. There will still be currency, it s just gonna be
linked to a value that s not grounded in full faith and credit of the federal government. Instead of a
figment of our imagination, money is going to be linked to something real. Sage lifted his head and
unleashed a tremendous belly laugh. Ah, yes, that s what we re all counting on. And mark my words,
in the beginning, that s exactly what will happen. We will all still count on our imagination to bind us
together. But soon enough, no matter how many unicorns and magic beanstalks we can conjure in our
minds, reality will settle in. When that happens, no force of imagination will hold us together. I m not
following you, Sage. What the hell are you talking

The Historical and Cultural Aspects in The Plague
The Plague (French, La Peste) is a novel written by Albert Camus that is about an epidemic of bubonic
plague. The Plague is set in a small Mediterranean town in North Africa called Oran. Dr. Bernard
Rieux, one of the main characters, describes it as an ugly town. Oran s inhabitants are boring people
who appear to live, for the most part, habitual lives. The main focus of the town is money. ...everyone
is bored, and devotes himself to cultivating habits. Our citizens work hard, but solely with the object
of getting rich. Their chief interest is in commerce, and their chief aim in life is, as they call it, doing
business (Camus 4). The citizens unawareness of life s riches and pleasures show their susceptibility
to the oncoming plague. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is upset when he finds out that Dr. Rieux cannot help him to escape, and in protest against being
told he can t leave, Rambert claims: But, confound it ... I don t belong here! (Camus 85). Dr. Rieux
tries to console Rambert by pointing out that as a journalist Rambert has an excellent topic to cover in
Oran. Rambert responds by saying: It s do damn silly, Doctor, isn t it? The truth is I wasn t brought
into the world to write newspaper articles. Buts it s quite likely I was brought into the world to live
with a woman. That s reasonable enough, isn t it? (Camus 85).
In Algeria, including Oran, the main religion is Muslim. There is a very small population that call
themselves Christians. Both religions are incorporated into the inhabitants of the city in The Plague.
Father Paneloux, the town s priest, believes the plague has been sent to Oran by God to punish the
sinners of the town, but that is will not harm him. He gives a sermon in which he preaches that
everybody will suffer from the plague and his sermon scares a large portion of the congregation. He
says the plague s cessation will depend upon repentance. In his sermon, Father Paneloux mentions a
passage from the Golden Legend and then claims:
My brothers...that fatal hunt is up, and harrying our streets today. See him there, that angel of the
pestilence, comely as lucifer, shining like Evil s very self! He is hovering above your roofs with his
great spear in his right hand, poised to strike, while his

  • 2. Dr. Decker s For Restorative Treatment Mrs. Perdaris is a patient who comes to Dr. Decker s for restorative treatment. She needs many dental procedures to repair her deteriorating oral health, including bone loss, receiving partial dentures of both maxillary and mandibular arches, as well as extraction of #7, 8, 9, and 10 (all permanent maxillary incisors). As a temporary solution, a provisional splint is added to allow the teeth to garner support from neighboring ones during which time periodontal treatment and surgery can be performed. She ends up postponing the needed periodontal treatment and fractures her splint on several occasions. Mrs. Perdaris requests that Dr. Decker makes a more durable and esthetic splint while she deals with personal issues that will keep her away ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Doing the periodontal therapy would insure that the patient is going to achieve her optimal oral health status again. If the patient did not follow the proposed treatment plan, her periodontal health would only continue to be compromised and deteriorate further with time. Furthermore, if such progression continued, it would not be appropriate to do crowns on the patient. In a jeopardized periodontal situation, any crowns Mrs. Perdaris would receive are bound to fail. She will end up in a worse oral health status than she started out. The next principle to discuss is the principle of autonomy. Not only is this one of the core values in the hierarchy model, but also one of the five principles mentioned in ADA s Code of Ethics. According to the ADA, patient autonomy matters just as much as the dentist s patterns of practice. However, Dr. Decker should focus on what is going to be best for the patent in long term. In the Dental Ethics at Chairside textbook, the dentist is mentioned to be the expert in dental treatment. The patient has every right to dictate their treatment under the principle of autonomy, but ultimately the patient lacks the knowledge what all entails each dental treatment plan option. This idea is expressed in the Guild Model which idealizes the foundation of placing the decision making in the sole hands of the dentist. In this model, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Mobile Ad-Hoc Network MANET A mobile ad hoc network is a self configuring infrastructure less network of mobile devices connected by wireless. . Each device in a MANET is free to move independently in any direction, and will therefore change its links to other devices frequently. Each must forward traffic unrelated to its own use, and therefore be a router. The primary challenge in building a MANET is equipping each device to continuously maintain the information required to properly route traffic. A routing protocol is required to find routes between nodes within the network. We are presenting two different routing protocols and their evaluation and then provide a comparison and discussion of their respective advantages and drawbacks. ABR (Associativity Based Routing) and RSR (Robust Source Routing) protocol. In ABR protocol, a route is selected based on nodes having associativity states that imply periods of stability. The ABR protocol is suitable for mobility in ad hoc wireless networks. Whereas the RSR is secure, on demand, multi path, source routing protocol. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... INTRODUCTION The ABR is a source initiated routing protocol. In ABR a route is selected based on the degree of stability associated with mobile nodes. Association stability is defined by connection stability of one node with respect to another node over time and space. Each node generates a beacon to signify its existence. When received by neighboring nodes, the beacon causes their associativity tables to be updated. The route discovery is accomplished by a Broadcast Query Reply (BQ REPLY) cycle. When a discovered route is no longer desired, the source node initiates a Route Delete broadcast so that all the nodes along the route update their routing tables. II. NETWORK ... Epigenetic Engineering Personal Statement I was fascinated to discover that my namesake was the co discoverer of DNA, and, as a child, this coincidence undoubtedly influenced my love of science. I followed the scientific developments of the 21st century with interest particularly genome project research. My studies continue to direct me towards this field: I want to be part of this on going scientific revolution, which is constantly changing and influencing how we live our lives. My interest in biology grew with the IGCSE course, especially its introduction to fundamental genetic engineering. Further inspired by the AS syllabus, I broadened my knowledge by reading the New Scientist. Williams and Dunbar s recent article raised a concept I hadn t considered before: that humans and ... Gene therapy is a controversial topic; my EPQ has revealed to me the intense ethical debates that surround cutting edge science. Work experience at Fujifilm Diosynth confirmed that research and practical lab work for biology and chemistry is something I enjoy. The scientists gave me amazing opportunities to apply my knowledge to situations, such as analysing optical density results taken from a running bioreactor. I got to see the precision behind academic research and was taught laboratory skills used in industry every day, including the use of gram staining to differentiate between bacterial species, and SDS PAGE gels to separate proteins. Life at a molecular level particularly interests me, as it combines chemistry and biology to explain concepts such as Systems Chemistry and the origins of life. Why chemical reactions happen by J Keeler and P Wothers helped me to understand these ideas, as well as complementing my A level chemistry course. I tested my chemistry and problem solving ... • 5. Archetypes In Frankenstein Victor Frankenstein, in Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, portrays both a Byronic hero and a tragic hero. Characteristics of both of these types of hero archetypes shape Victor by depicting him as a victim, despite the fact that he created the monster, and these characteristics shape the themes of the novel. Victor has characteristics of a Byronic hero, which shapes his character and the themes. A Byronic hero is a melancholy and rebellious young man, distressed by a terrible wrong he committed in the past (The Definition of Byronic Hero). Victor is clearly troubled from creating the monster, as seen in: his stature...exceed that of a man. I was troubled; a mist came over my eyes, and I felt a faintness seize me (Shelly 93). The way Victor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Theses qualities portray Victor as the victim and innocent, which is ironic since he created the monster which caused all the destruction and terror. Victor portraying himself as a victim caused all of the tragedies to occur fairly quickly, because he could have gone to authorities earlier and they might have treated him differently. The victim act brings up the complexity of the relationship between Victor and the creature; since he created the monster he should be in control of the relationship, yet the monster is in control and powerful since Victor is innocent. Victor is not a victim of the creature, but a victim of fate and free will, yet Victor refuses to believe that he had any decision in this matter and blames it all on fate. These qualities also call attention to the theme of parenting since the creature upsets Victor and he refuses to take care of it and how the lack of parental influence can cause somebody to make bad decisions. This again brings attention to the paradoxical relationship between the creature and Frankenstein, since the creature is more powerful than the creator. Byronic and tragic hero characteristics combine in Frankenstein because Victor is a melancholic man who made a error in the past which causes his downfall. The combination of these two type of heroes allows Victor to be a victim and brings in the theme of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The changes come from using high energy qualities, and this lead to have higher temperature different in some heat exchangers, hence high entropy. Due to that, the total area of the networks also will vary with the use of different utilities since total area is in related with temperature different in heat exchanger. • 8. Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien In this case, the relevant parties are Bilbo Baggins acting as plaintiff, and Orc Industries Corporation acting as defendant. This case originates from the dismissal of Baggins as an employee of Orc Industries in May 2007 under the grounds of dishonesty and for coming to work under the influence of alcohol. Orc Industries hired Baggins in December 2006 to assist in the construction of a foundry. After organizing agreements with unions and contractors, Baggins was accused by Orc Industries for arriving at work drunk, citing an empty whiskey bottle found in his desk as evidence. The main issue in this case is Orc Industries terminated Baggin s employment without just cause. It is stated in the law that, If an employer alleges they had cause for the dismissal, the burden is on them to prove that there was just cause (Ministry of Labour). The definition of just cause is described as the conduct that amounts to a fundamental breach of the employment contract , which in this case there was a lack of sufficient evidence to support that any breach of the contract had occurred (Canada Legal). Orc Industries claims that the empty bottle of whiskey is sufficient proof, although this is not conclusive evidence that Baggins was ever drunk at work and thus is not sufficient grounds for terminating his employment (DuPlessis et al, 2013). During this period, Turkish harem women wore clothes most similar to ours. They wore cloaks over their chemise and loose trousers while also being veiled (Olsen 59). This era marked conservatism in women s clothes. During the first wave movement, fashion did not become dynamic until the 1900s. In 1851, dress reformers tried to popularize a pair of baggy pants beneath a knee length tunic (Olsen 125). Although this effort was unsuccessful, it marks the beginning of dress reform and sixty five years later, hem lengths would rise by ten inches (Olsen 177). The 1920s marked the era of the flappers, when the use of makeup became commonplace and women wore knee length dresses and bared more skin (Olsen 207, 214). A few decades after, pants would be allowed, introducing scandalous shorts along with it. Although heavily criticized, the stigma of shorts lessened, showing us more familiar styles. Dress reform went full force in this era. Fashion during the second wave feminism was marked the increase of more comfortable clothing. Women were primarily working in factories for the war effort, so their dress was consisted mainly of pants and high collared shirts []. Fashion in this era would eventually go towards flashy padded shoulders and colorful pants []. The 90 s in the United States were insane in terms of fashion. When analyzing third wave feminist ... We will start the stopwatch (a stopwatch gives us very accurate readings when recording time) as soon as the Magnesium Ribbon hits the Hydrochloric Acid. 8) When the Magnesium Ribbon has completely disappeared, we shall stop the stopwatch and record the time it took for the Magnesium Ribbon to disappear. 9) This process will be repeated for 25°C, twice. Then we will do the same experiment for the other temperatures, doing each temperature three times. The plan/method above is a very good way of carrying out the experiment. This is because the rate of reaction is effected by temperature. Using the Bunsen burner makes this plan a good way of carrying out this experiment. As the Hydrochloric acid will be heated using the blue flame, it will heat up faster so the results for each temperature can be obtained quickly. Then as they grow up we subject them to gender socialization, which is the process in which cultures communicate their expectations about gender to the child (Arnett, 135). I grew up in a small town; however, it was not like the stereotypical, very conservative, small town that is often portrayed in movies. My experience in Western culture, which is immensely different than that of other cultures, is that gender socialization was prevalent during childhood, but became more relaxed during adolescents and emerging adulthood. From as far back as I can remember, differential gender socialization took place during childhood. Parents taught their children that objects such as dolls and dresses were for girls, while objects like trucks and guns were meant for boys. I remember one time that my female cousin came over to visit and we decided that we want to partake in a battle similar to one the boys conducted when they played. We ended up whipping Legos at each other, which in hindsight was a very dangerous and painful idea, because the Nerf guns were my brothers and girls were not allowed to touch them. These differential gender socializations could continue to be seen in preschool and early grade school years. Parts 1 and 2 will be presented to Council for validation and discussion with HAF representatives. File Survey Overview HAF T5 programme Objectives The aim of the Target 5 Days (HAF T5) project is to reduce government s impact on the development assessment process through reductions in assessment time. This will reduce the holding costs and infrastructure costs for applicants, contributing greatly to the bottom line overheads experienced by developers, both professional and non professional (without considering the greater issue of land supply). The objectives of HAF T5 project are to deliver process reform such that Councils in SEQ will deliver: Reduced assessment timeframe for 95% of residential development applications; and 75% reduction in approval timeframe for residential developments with a five day turn around for low risk/complying applications. Residential Application Focus The typical types of applications that were surveyed are: Reconfiguration of lots up to 50 lots; Dual Occupancies (Duplexes); Multiple Unit Developments (generally 6 or less); Boundary Realignments; and Houses in overlays (e.g. character, ... • 18. Not Paying Taxes Let s face facts, it can get confusing handling a business s finances. Payroll alone includes having to figure out things like figuring out tax reductions, keeping records, reporting employee s income, etc and so on. The good news is that there is a way to avoid all of that. You can just pay your employees under the table. For those unfamiliar with the term, paying an employee under the table means they get paid off the record. You give them cash for their time instead of an official paycheck. No taxes, no reporting, and no confusion. This is more commonly found in smaller businesses. There is a catch though, if you are caught paying your employees under the table, a whole world of stress is going to land on your shoulders. Why do we pay taxes? Because taxes are kind of like the rent we have to pay to live in this country. They pay for our infrastructure, our schools, our government funded programs, and much more. Not everyone likes paying them, but simply put, taxes keep our country in motion. When you don t pay taxes, you are not doing your part to help keep America moving forward. If that rousing speech didn t convince you that paying employees under the table isn t worth the risk, this next part sure will. They have to develop new ideas and innovations that set them apart. At the same time, these companies need to find ways to perform more efficiently. If a company is efficient in their capabilities then the typical results are the business has lower costs and/or they are performing to the best of their abilities. This gave birth to today s idea of grid computing. Grid computing is a large number of servers acting as one computer (oracle.com). This idea works on the concept of grids. A grid is a combination of severs, networks, storage, and information working together. These things work together to, create one or more large pools of computing resources (grid.ziffdavis.com). A grid is unique in that it can be molded and changed to fit the specific needs and demands of each business. Grid is a type of parallel and distributed system that enable the sharing selection, and aggregation of geographically distributed autonomous resources dynamically at runtime depending on their availability, capability, performance, cost, and users quality of service requirements (gridcomputing.com). It is based on the idea of cooperation and being able to sharing information. It is different from the idea of the internet because instead of sending the information to others, it is all stored in one place together which is accessible. The grid allows the organization s users to share their information and the company s application with one another easily. No matter where the members are in a company they are able to access and use the information that other employees have on the grid. Abnormal Intracellular Zinc Metabolism Caused by Disruption of the TRPL1 TMEM163 Protein Interaction Keywords: Zinc, TRP ion channel, Lysosomes, TMEM163, MLIV Mucolipidosis type IV (MLIV) is a human lysosomal storage disorder characterized early in life by neurodegeneration, visual impairment, low muscle tone, and impaired secretion of gastric acid1. MLIV is caused by loss of function mutations or deletions in the Mucolipin 1 gene2 resulting in the absence or a dysfunctional protein product called transient receptor potential mucolipin 1 (TRPML1) ion channel. TRPML1 consists of six predicted transmembrane (TM) domains with channel features showing inward rectification, and non selective permeability to calcium (Ca2+), zinc (Zn2+), iron (Fe2+), and manganese (Mn2+) 3. Some of the cellular phenotypic characteristics of TRPML1 dysfunction include hyperacidic lysosomes, lysosomal swelling, and lipid accumulation. More recently, irregular levels of specific trace metals have been suggested to contribute to the abnormal cellular phenotype, as well as the progressive cell degeneration associated with TRPML1 dysfunction4. The permeability of Zn2+ to TRPML1 suggests that this ion channel may play a role in Zn2+ regulation. A recent investigation of cytoplasmic Zn2+ accumulation in TRPML1 dysfunctional cells suggests the possibility that this protein may normally function to transfer Zn2+ from the lysosome to the cytoplasm5. Other studies suggest a significant increase of Zn2+ in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through her character Esther, Plath depicts the path that leads to suicide: the inner turmoil that causes the desire for a release; the ideation of suicide as a solution; and finally, the attempt. Esther s desire to die spawned from being unable to reconcile her id and her superego. Her id was her desire to adventure, to make something special of her life; her superego, the part of her that understood her place in society at the time, that she was expected to be a wife and mother and stay home. Esther s inability to choose between a career and a family caused dissonance in her mind that she imagined would cause her to die, saying she saw [her]self sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because [she] couldn t make up [her] mind which of the figs [she] would choose. ... Along with many other countries, they would have known that the situation in England was unstable and William may have thought Wales were planning an invasion. Lands such as Cumbria and Northumbria were disputed between Malcolm and William. This became worrying for William because parts of his kingdom were being threatened to be taken from him which would give Malcolm more land and support against William. However, the threat of Scotland was not as substantial as some historians make it out to be. In 1072, William marched through Scotland with relative ease. Although Williams army was fearfully exposed according to Purser, the Scottish did not capitalize on this opportunity. This could be interpreted as Malcolm showing he did not want to fight against William. This point links into the treaty of Abernethy. In the same year Malcolm met William at abernethy and signed a treaty which shown that he recognised William as his superior. Moreover, changes in test methods, samplers, hammers, and rods lead to corresponding variances in N values due to the generated energy losses. They suggested that such value of 41 is underestimating the relative density of fine sands and silty sands, whereas, it overestimates the relative density of coarse gravelly sands. Also under the same testing circumstances, the tendency to increase the penetration resistance with increasing the D50 is possibly related to a similar trend of the angle of internal friction ϕ. While Cubrinovski and Ishihara, 1999 2000, clearly pointed out that two sand soils having identical fine content can show remarkably inconsistent stress strain characteristics. As a result, they had little information, and they underestimated the magnitude of the disaster. This step is essential because it would have saved the Deepwater horizon. The assessment should not only be done by BP, but also be a regulation to all drilling companies, in order to prevent similar disasters in the future. 2. • 40. Social Worker Errors According to Reamer (2005) every social worker is capable of inadvertently inserting incorrect facts into and omitting important facts from case documentation. To deal with such inconsistences, social workers should always acknowledge their errors and make clear that the new entry occurred after the error was discovered (Reamer, 2005). Most importantly, take steps to be honest and sincere with injured parties, during which social workers accept responsibility for any mistakes they may have made (Reamer, 2008). Moreover, social workers have a duty to respond to errors in a way that protects and minimizes harm to the clients (Reamer, 2008). Thus, it is even more important to remain aware of the potentially harmful consequences not only of our actions, but also of our failures to act (Pope, 2005). Reamer (2008) also believes that social workers must recognize that they have self interested reasons to respond to error constructively. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. L. Frank Baum s The Wizard Of Oz Hidden messages are everywhere, whether its in a television episode, newspaper, magazine, book, or movie in this instance. L. Frank Baum did an excellent job in hiding this political and economic message in an allegory. This plot was called the Wizard of Oz and was a children s story published in 1897 which contained adult matters. The books storyline was based on the issues that were occurring in the late nineteenth century during the populist era debates. Every character in this story represents a specific person or message to the overall narrative Baum wanted to tell. Geographically, this story starts in Kansas City, which is not a surprise since the populist movement began in this area. It also references the Democratic convention of 1900, showing that this is also a political topic as well. This epitomizes both the silver component of a bimetallic standard and the ability for the people to make the currency that is needed to continue growing the economic trend. The author of this article, Hugh Rockoff, makes a credible point to notice that the Wicked Witches were created to epitomize eastern business individuals in this area. Also, the yellow brick road that the main character crosses through is meant to be the physical representation of the gold standard. Most physical things that had specific colors had a reason to be put in the storyline, therefore this really is a monetary parable. The first important characters that was later introduced was the Scarecrow, which is meant to be the average western farmer at that time. Baum ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Plague is set in a small Mediterranean town in North Africa called Oran. Dr. Bernard Rieux, one of the main characters, describes it as an ugly town. Oran s inhabitants are boring people who appear to live, for the most part, habitual lives. The main focus of the town is money. ...everyone is bored, and devotes himself to cultivating habits. The truth is I wasn t brought into the world to write newspaper articles. Buts it s quite likely I was brought into the world to live with a woman. That s reasonable enough, isn t it? (Camus 85). In Algeria, including Oran, the main religion is Muslim. There is a very small population that call themselves Christians. Both religions are incorporated into the inhabitants of the city in The Plague. Father Paneloux, the town s priest, believes the plague has been sent to Oran by God to punish the sinners of the town, but that is will not harm him. He gives a sermon in which he preaches that everybody will suffer from the plague and his sermon scares a large portion of the congregation. He says the plague s cessation will depend upon repentance.
