The Causality Of Foreign Direct Investment And Economic...
Testing the Causality Between Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth
Ned R Jackson
Utah Valley University
March 2015
Abstract
This paper looks to determine the causality of foreign direct investment and economic growth.
Implementing common and basic econometric techniques to test the association between these two
topics in The United Arab Emirates. In past research it has been implicated that FDI has causality in
economic growth mainly due to the ability FDI has to introduce new technology to the host country
from the foreign countries who are in many cases much more technologically advanced. However, we
hope to show that though there may be a stronger causality between FDI to economic growth that
there is enough evidence to show that there are cases in which economic growth is the cause for the
expansion in FDI that has taken place. =Results from the Solow growth model and Unit root test will
allow us to interpret the true relationship between these two economic factors for the United Arab
Emirates specifically.
Introduction
The correlation between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth is well documented see
(Borensztein, De Gregorio, J W. Lee 98). Even though there has been an extensive amount of research,
which includes both FDI and economic growth, there still seems to be a substantial divide between the
results; which are concluded within these papers. To begin in this research paper we will define

Need to book a humorist, yet aren t certain where you ought to look? Do you feel restless about
booking the perfect comic for your area and in addition visitor? Is it accurate to say that you are
reluctant to contract with specific entertainers or booking organizations essentially in light of the fact
that you aren t sure on the off chance that they have quality acts? Is it accurate to say that you are as of
now working with a limited spending plan? In the event that that is the situation, welcome to the
untamed life of humorist bookings! It s actual that booking amazing comic diversion could be a
troublesome errand, especially with the horde of normal ability and booking administrations available.

There are various sorts of comics, for example, improv humorists, impressionist entertainers, musical
humorists, political entertainers, comic trance inducers, and motivational humorists. A humorist uses a
few unique strategies, for example, jokes, narrating, gathering of people connection, props, jokes, and
interesting outward appearances. Different structures would incorporate a corporate humorist, physical
comic drama, pantomime comic, stand up entertainer, performer comic, conjurer comic, and a
ventriloquist comic. There is custom drama where humorists make certain jokes altered for the

Understanding Processes and Procedures for Storing and...
Understanding processes and procedures for storing and retrieving information 1.1 Explain the
purpose of storing and retrieving required information The purpose of storing and retrieving
information is that if you needed to contact them again or ring them back you would have their
information there for you to retrieve. Therefore if any progress is made, you can update this or make
notes on what is relevant if another colleague needs to access this information. It is also important
because if a customer rings you, and the person who they have been dealing with is not in, you can
look at the data already stored for this person and be able to help them with what is needed, so you are
up to date too. 1.2 Describe different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the information needed does not meet the timescale it could be considered useless as the time in

will always be collecting new data and renewing existing data. Types of information that a company
may delete is old data, out of data information, or information which has never been used as this will
take up storing space. Every company has a policy where it informs you of how long data must be
kept for before you can destroy it, therefore these policy s must be met before destroying the data
following confidentiality procedures. These include the deletion of electronic information and
shredding the paper information, or any information suitable for shredding. 1.9 Describe problems that
may occur with information systems and how to deal with them when necessary Information systems

Business Practices And Culture The Same
If a company wants to expand their business to a different country, is the business practices and
culture the same? According to the Encyclopedia of management, The standards, expectations, and
benchmarks of business behavior vary across countries (Hill. p. 491). There are numerous countries in
the world with their own culture, which correlates with their business methods. With that said, it is
vital for companies to understand that not every country is the same, in terms of business and culture.
The culture and business structure, for example in The United States (U.S), is different in Spain. Spain
s business practices and culture has differences in these three categories: contextual, social, non
verbal.
Spain is a high context culture. Business people in this country prefer face to face versus written
communication. The Spanish look at nonverbal communication like facial expressions and eye
contact. In addition, Spaniards analyze the true intentions of a company; does the company care or is it
just a financial gain for them? People with a business proposal must schedule a time to meet
Spaniards. Spaniards appreciate those with great personalities and make the effort to meet them. With
that said, Spaniards expect businesspeople to build personal relationships with them. In fact, the first
meeting is meant to get to know one another, create stable relationships as well as trust (Global Road
Warrior. Spain: The business experience ). Therefore, in Spain, cultural context

How Does Illegal Immigration Affect Society
There is a massive amount of illegals living in the United States today. More than 11 million
undocumented aliens currently reside in the United States. This number is continuously increasing
because the illegal immigration rate is growing by 700,000 per year (Kane). Large masses of
immigrants who continuously enter the US illegally, in desire for a better lifestyle, cause major
damage and destruction to America. The effects and threats that these illegals impose to the well being
of America and its people is problematic. Illegal immigration is an issue in American society because
it increases criminal activity, strains governmental programs, and raises unemployment rates.

This harsh reality of unemployment only hurts the American people and its economy. Unemployment
is defined as an individual who did not have a job but actively sought one in the past four weeks
(Meyers). The millions of illegal aliens who obtain jobs in the US are willing to work at wages that
would be impossible for Americans to make ends meet. These low skilled jobs have become flooded
with illegal workers and ultimately forces millions of Americans into unemployment. The number of
illegal immigrants in the United States totaled 11.3 million in 2014, outnumbering the 9.6 million
Americans who were unemployed in the same year, according to data from Pew Research Center and
the Bureau of Labor Statistics (Meyer). The higher unemployment rate brought upon illegal laborers
hurts the American economy as a whole. As unemployment rate increase, it negatively affects the
economy s debt, taxes and overall growth because each American citizen that loses a job is no longer
able to pay debts or taxes, and thud spends less ( How does the unemployment rate affect the

Essay about Icons of Ambivalence in Bless Me Ultima
Icons of Ambivalence in Bless Me Ultima
The portrait of Mexican Americans is layered in shades of ambivalence. Aside from the fact there is
evidence that they can not really be classified as a migratory culture in that the land where they tend to
migrate once belonged to Mexico, they can also lay an earlier claim to the land as Native Americans.
The Spanish Europeans who settled in the area that became Mexico evolved as the dominant culture
over the oral culture of the Native Americans. Nevertheless, there is evidence of ambivalence among
the Native Americans to the dominant culture of the Spanish in what is arguably one of the Mexico s
basic texts, the story of the Miraculous Apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe in 1531. ... Show more

Legend says that a child who cries in the womb will be given the Don and become a curandera. Don
means the gift from God.
(La Curandera 1).
Therein lies the contradiction of the curandera, she cannot be categorized as only a pagan icon, in that
curandera has respect for and practices the religion of Catholicism along with her healing (Blessed or
Evil). Similar to the Virgin of Guadalupe, the character of Ultima, a curandera, defies easy
classification as either of the native or dominant culture. The myth of the Miraculous Apparition of the
Virgin of Guadalupe in 1531 and Bless Me Ultima arise as cultural narratives of ambivalence, with
elements of both resistance and assimilation in their characters, which elude definition by dominant
culture s standards.
Juan Diego, the native peasant to whom the Virgin of Guadalupe appears, and Antonio Marez, the
young boy who is to become an apprentice of sorts to Ultima, exhibit similar ambivalence, with one
important distinction. Juan Diego becomes more enmeshed with the dominant culture as a result of his
experience by becoming a life long proponent of the Catholic faith (Blessed Juan). Antonio, on the
other hand, seems to veer away from the ideal of the Church as he questions its true power in certain
matters of spirituality.
When Antonio s uncle becomes very ill under the curse laid by the Trementina sisters, known brujas

The Spanish Leaders And Indian Warriors
Mexico and Spain are two countries that started interacting with each other since the early 1500s. In
1518, Hernán Cortés (a Spanish conqueror) led an expedition to Mexico establishing the city of
Veracruz on his arrival. In 1521, Cortes and some of his men marched into the capital city of the
Aztec, Tenochtitlan. Even though the Aztecs and their emperor Moctezuma tried to persuade the
Spanish to leave, Cortés and his man did not accept. Instead, he allied with some other indigenous
people who were enemies of the Aztecs such as the Tlaxcalans in order to defeat them and take
Tenochtitlan (1). Following the Spanish Conquest, the Aztecs and Tlaxcalans had aligned themselves
with the Spaniards. Thus, most explorations were undertaken jointly with the Spanish leaders and
Indian warriors (2). A clear example of this is the expedition to Zacatecas (Northern Mexico), which
was referred as La Gran Chichimeca . The group of Spanish and Indian explorers ignored the fact that
the indigenous tribes who lived there, considered La Gran Chichimeca as inheritance from their
ancestors. Therefore, when the Spanish invaded their land in 1550, Zacatecos and Guachichile Indians
began attacking travelers and merchants, including the Spaniards. Thus, starting the Chichimeca War.
It was until the end of the sixteenth century that Alonso Manrique de Zuñiga, appointed as the Viceroy
of Mexico, offered peace and opened up negotiations. The Viceroy offered food, clothing, lands, and

Infertility In The Handmaid s Tale By Margaret Atwood
Infertility is the incapability or failure conceive after one year of unprotected sexual intercourse or due
to an impairment a person s capacity to reproduce either as an individual or with his/her partner. While
infertility can cause issues in men and women, women are more susceptible to having issues
conceiving naturally. 1 in 8 women (or 12% of married couples) have trouble getting pregnant or
sustaining a pregnancy (2006 2010 National Survey of Family Growth, CDC). There is a process in
which three stages such as ovulation, fertilization, and implantation that a women s body must go
through to get pregnant. When there are issues in these stages, infertility is diagnosed and examined
by a doctor therefore, making it hard to conceive a baby naturally. Throughout this paper, I will
explain three common causes of infertility in females like endometriosis, sexual transmitted diseases,
and poor nutrition. In the story The Handmaid s Tale, by Margaret Atwood, women are infertile
because of pollution, STD s, and radiation. If in fact, radiation caused the women of Gilead to be
infertile it could possible because the radiation caused a chemical or hormonal imbalance. With that
being said, the world we live in today, the leading causes of infertility in the U.S. is endometriosis.
Infertile women are 6 to 8 times more likely to have endometriosis than fertile women (Verkauf BS).
This syndrome is found mostly in women because this is where the endometrial tissue grows outside

The Pros And Cons Of The BP Oil Spill
It is well known that in 2010 a oil spill occurred in the Gulf of Mexico. The oil rig Deepwater
Horizon, owned by BP, exploded and sank and caused a continued oil leak that released amlost 5
million barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, the worst oil spill in U.S. history (Biello). In an address
delivered inJune of 2010, President Obama called the oil spill the worst environmental disaster
America has ever faced (Obama). Given the magnitude of the spill, and the media attention
surrounding the issue, the entire topic became an emotional subject and strong opinions were formed
regarding the nature of the spill and the correct way to proceed with containment and restoration. Of
the many debates surrounding the issue, one which falls prey ... Show more content on

While this fear seems valid when constructed without context, applying the specifics of the BP oil
spill show this line of reasoning to be a slippery slope fallacy. Spending 58 million dollars on one
hotel now will not lead to the complete squandering of the rest of the restoration resources simply
because, in comparison to the total funds, 58 million dollars is a small sum. When viewed through the
everyday experiences of a regular civilian, 58 million dollars is an almost incomprehensible amount of
money. However, The Telograph states that BP has spent 28 billion dollars on containment and
cleaning efforts and set aside another 20 billion as a compensation fund (Sherwell and Lawler). When
set against a total effort of 48 billion dollars that may be contributed from BP alone, 58 million dollars
accounts for roughly 0.12% of the potential resources dedicated towards the aftermath of the spill in
the Gulf. Given in figures more consistent with the experience of the average person, this is the
equivalent of about 60 dollars out of a 50 thousand dollar salary. While an ideological claim could be
made that all resources should be used on areas impacted physically and directly, the actual cost of the
hotel is too small to be an influence on wide scale decision making for the larger recovery effort

Examples Of Code Of Ethics In Nursing Practice

Nursing Practice. I have chosen it because in her writing she has mentioned about professional
conduct, code of ethics, its purpose in the nursing career and some of the essential guidelines for
applying these ethics in the field of nursing.
Professional conduct is the reference point on the basis of which the acceptable manner has to be
portrayed by the professional person. Regardless of their job title, position or place of work, a person
needs to act and carry his responsibility in a professional way. (CFA, June 2014). Code of ethics is a

A nurse who is knowledgeable and is sensitive to gather all these information will be able to convey a
qualitative nursing care. Every individual nurse is accountable to provide quality care as well as
promoting the care to uplift the standard of nursing care. The initial assessment of patient
requirements, preferences, their values, and beliefs need to be done. Accordingly, care has to be
planned and implemented. (Australia, Aug 2008).
Appropriate recording and reporting are also fundamental in promoting quality care. Care will be
more effective if provided collectively as a team. Providing care is one duty but side by side equal
priority should be in maintaining and following own ethics and principles. This is how sustainable and
appropriate care can be administered which will further contribute to maintaining dignity and integrity
of the profession. (Lachman, 2009)

The Problem Of Child Labor Laws Essay
i. In developing countries, such as in India, child are are forced to work, often as the result of a system
of debt bondage where their family trades a small amount of money with an individual and in return,
their child is sent away to work, and some of these families will never see their child again. Many of
these children, due to the either the lack of regulation or as a result of a country simply turning a blind
eye to the reality of child labor that violates child labor laws . As we saw in the video from class about
the chocolate child labor farmers, many of these children engage in backbreaking work, from sunrise
to sunset, and as a result lose their childhood, their ability to go to school, their ability to play with
other kids, because of the debt bondage their family agreed to. This is what was experienced by Iqbal
Masih. As a four year old boy, his parents sold him into debt bondage for 600 rupees, or less than $6,
to an employer who owned a carpet weaving business. Corsaro explains that child labor is especially
desired in the carpet weaving business because they can squat easily, and their nimble fingers can
make the smallest, tightest knots . He woke up before dawn and made his way, bound in chains, down
to the factory for work. He worked at that faculty for 6 years, working 12 hours a day, everyday. At the
age of ten, he found out that bonded labor was illegal, and tried to escape. After escaping, he made a
decision to help others like him, and as a result,

Who Moved My Cheese By Spencer Johnson
Character Identification In the book Who Moved My Cheese? by Spencer Johnson, out of the four
main characters, I most resemble the little person Haw. Right away, it was obvious I was not like the
mice. I am a thinker. Sniff and Scurry reacted far too immediately for me. When the change happened,
they were already out in the maze seeing what they could find. Change tends to affect me more
heavily than it did the mice. I tend to use a combination of brainpower and emotion when I am
looking for my Cheese just like Hem and Haw. What makes me more similar to Hem is the reaction to
the change. When the Cheese goes missing, Hem experiences an intense emotional reaction. He yells
and screams because he feels entitled to his Cheese. He had been enjoying the Cheese for so long that
he could not imagine a situation where the Cheese was no longer there for him. Haw s reaction is
much more subtle. He was sad. The Cheese being at Cheese Station C was a measure of comfort for
him, and without it he was left in shock. This is precisely how I react. I tend to count on all the
constant people and situations in my life. If my family, girlfriend, car, apartment, or air conditioning
were ever to withdraw their presence it would leave me in shock. Just like with Haw, it is not about
me having the most powerful of any of the things listed above, but more about my personal comfort
with the current situation. After they find Cheese Station C empty several times, Hem and Haw

Nietzsches Superman Essay
Though when most people think of superheroes they think of the type with super powers, the original
idea of the superman was developed by Friedrich Nietzsche in the 1800s. The ubermensch (literally
overman in German) never had extra ordinary powers and wasn t developed as the protector of man.
Instead, the superman is a person who has overcome all the flaws of mankind and is essentially
perfect. This idea, though it was thought of as an ideal goal that all people should strive for, has almost
completely been used for less than good agendas. The details of what Nietzsche s superman is
supposed to be and how that compares with how it was used to the advantage of many dictatorships
and other oppressive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He felt the idea of the superman as well as other Nietzsche writings gave him and the Nazis the right
and the reason to take over what they wished and impose the beliefs they wished. In fact, Hitler
believed himself to be a superman. This belief is evident by the way Hitler acted during his reign as
the leader of the Nazi party. The attempted destruction of the Jewish people as a race was actually
based on writings by Nietzsche. In Hitler s mind the Jews were inferior and therefore no compassion
should be given to them. Hitler, of course, took this once step further and actually killed many of the
weak. During World War II Hitler even issued every German soldier a copy of one of Nietzsche s
writings, Thus Spake Zarathustra. National Socialism and Fascism also spawned from Nietzsche and
his thoughts on society. Nietzsche himself was very much socialist in his beliefs which is evident in
much of what he wrote. Though socialism may seem far from Nietzsche s idea of the superman, it is
actually very close because the ruler is looked at as a superman who makes all decisions and knows
what is best at all times. This can be seen in many societies such as Italy and Germany in World War
II, and to some extent The Soviet Union. In each of these cases the ruling party or man used Nietzsche
s beliefs to rationalize their rampant wars, hatred, and genocide.

People choose to turn to meals that are already prepared for them instead of paying more money and
spending more time cooking meals using healthier ingredients. Fast food restaurants are known for
creating fast service and big meals for low prices which entices customers to buy more of their food
because it doesn t require any work on the customer s behalf to be able to feed their families. Fixing
this bad habit in most Americans households would require a change in the prices of fruits and
vegetables giving the ability for anyone and everyone to be able to buy fresh produce from grocery
stores and make it easier for everyone or helping people choose the way of making a fresh and healthy
meal for their families instead of providing the meals given through drive thru windows. In the
situation of trying to make the prices of fresh produce cheaper and helping adults make meals for their
families instead of buying meals another solution could be for the government to step in and create a
limit on how big restaurants are allowed to have their portion sizes. All fast food restaurants are in
competition with each other so every restaurant tries to bring in as many customers as possible and if
you are able to bring in a lot of customers that gives you power over every other restaurant. The key to

Water s Influence on Settements in Egypt
The settlement of a town had to take two main considerations into mind, the accessibility to a water
source and the height it was built above the flooding of the Nile. The mud brick buildings were
sensitive to water and damp conditions, so care had to be taken when considering the placement of a
house, town or city. When houses did crumble or fall apart, new houses were simply built upon the
ruins of the former house. This led to houses and towns being built on more elevated surfaces. These
hills are called tells. The permanent structures like temples and their surrounding enclosures are now
on a lower floor level this would be the original level as temples were not generally built or renewed
upon each other as the houses were. This method of building one house upon the other continued until
the building of the Aswan Dam in the late 1960 s, making excavations of the housing areas was
virtually impossible. This has left a scarcity of data for Egyptologists to study.

Empowered or Limited When it comes to the topic of education, most of us will readily agree that
receiving an education is necessary and important to daily life. Where this agreement usually ends,
however, is on the question of limitations. Whereas some are convinced that public education limits it
students, others maintain that it empowers them. My own view is that public education limits students
because there is a lack of autonomy, a focus on segregation, and a very real pressure to succeed. The
standard way of thinking about education is to believe that it empowers students, however some argue
that it actually limits a student s individuality. In his essay Against School , John Gatto demonstrates
how the public educational system places limitations on its students. Gatto is an award winning
educator and has taught in public schools for almost twenty years. According to Gatto, We could
encourage the best qualities of youthfulness.... simply by being more flexible about time, text, and
tests....and by giving each student what autonomy he or she needs in order to take a risk every now
and then. But we don t do that. (Gatto p. 115). In other words, public education has the ability to
empower students, but because of the strict structure, focus on testing, and lack of autonomy, it is
more restricting than empowering. Many people assume that students going to an IVY league school
are the brightest of their peers when it comes to academics. When given an inside look at these
prestigious, best of the best institutions, we encounter something different than what we expect.
William Deresiewicz attended Columbia University and was a professor at Yale, and he sates, most of
them seemed content to color within the lines that their education has marked out for them. Very few
were passionate about ideas. (Deresiewicz p. 203). Deresiewicz s point is that IVY League students
aren t very willing to go beyond that which they have been taught in the classroom. What s the
purpose of separating these students from their peers, who may not be as gifted academically, if they
do not take their education beyond what they are formally taught. Segregation does not happen just at
the college level, but also at

Corcovado Research Paper
Discover the beauty of Corcovado, Costa Rica s national park
Situated on Costa Rica s southern side of the Osa Peninsula is the Corcovado National Park. It is one
of the most remote rain forests in the country, nevertheless a place of magnificent beauty and
breathtaking vistas. The park is also the habitat to a remarkable variety of trees, endangered plants and
animal species.
Despite the fact that this park is so unique and breathtaking in every aspect, it is also important to
point out that it is located in a very remote region. Visitors to the region have only limited accessibility
to a select number of restaurants and hotels. It is one more reason why Corcovado s trail system is
ranked as one of the best in the world.
The Corcovado National Park system stretches across 133,000 acres of land, made up of some 140
distinct mammal species, 400 varieties of birds, and approximately 500 varieties of trees. The largest

Innocence Taken
In a world of violence and greed, parents are on the frontlines of a morality battle for the sake of their
children. If they are not battling teen drug and alcohol abuse, these protectors of progeny constantly
monitor for depression, sexual behavior, bad influences, and everything under the sun that could be in
harms way of their offspring. There are many predators in the game of life that seek to manipulate and
deceive these innocent juveniles for personal gains and selfish reasons. At a time when their childhood
experiences are building the adult that they will become, many are out seeking to distort or pervert this
outcome. Childhood has long been recognized as a critical period in the development of many ...

despicable of all three is the group of Miami residents. This gaggle of disgust consisted of two men in
their mid 50s and two women, ages forty one and twenty five. They made their living off of selling
girls ranging from twelve to fifteen years young in a child prostitution ring (De Valle). If not for an
anonymous tip, the group s control and manipulation of these girls would have continued.
Control, being a major issue for the pedophile, can be in the form money or expensive possessions that
the child might not otherwise be able to attain. Sometimes drugs are used to hook them into returning

The Birth Of The Periodic Table
In September 1860 the birth of the Periodic table began. A group of the world s best chemists
assembled in Germany to discuss the issues of atomic mass. At this meeting an Italian chemist,
Stanislao Cannizzaro, introduced the right way to accurately measure the relative mass of an atom.
After the new method was introduced chemists started to recognize similarities in the properties of
various elements and placed them into families. In this earlier stages of the periodic table there were
four main chemists; Dobereiner, Newlands, Lothar Meyer, and Dmitri Mendeleev that played a
substantial role in the development of the periodic table. Dobereiner started with a few family groups
each containing three elements. Newlands put the elements of those families in repeating groups
called octaves. Meyer noted additional repeating properties. Mendeleev put it all together into what
has become the periodic table of the elements. The German chemist, named Dobereiner, in 1829 noted
some of the first elemental similarities. His observations began with bromine, which had just been
discovered. He noticed that the properties of bromine were similar to chlorine and iodine. Not only
were they related but also various properties of bromine, including the atomic weight, fell midway
between the properties of chlorine and iodine, but also there was a pattern within the group of
regularly increasing atomic weights. As he did his research he noticed a couple other groups of
elements with patterns

Why Did The Patriots Win The Revolutionary War
On october 19, 1781 the British army surrendered at Yorktown, Virginia. Although the treaty had yet
to be signed, American independence had been accomplished. The Patriots had pulled off the most
improvable upset by defeating the most powerful military of the day. Although the British had more
troops, were highly trained, had more supplies, and a strong navy, the Patriots prevailed. Under the
leadership of George Washington along with technological advancements in weaponry, aid from
foreign allies, new fighting techniques, coupled with medical innovations and an extensive spy ring, a
new nation is born. The Patriots had a very good leader to lead them. They had George Washington.

Mary cannot be blamed for being introduced to morphine and Tyrone cannot be condemned for his
poor Irish upbringing. However, Tyrone chose to postpone dealing with his son s tuberculosis until it

means to distract from her erratic behavior causing a riff in their relationships. The Tyrones are the
writers of their own tragedy. They cannot blame anyone but themselves for the sorry sight that is their
reality. In Eugene O Neill s Long Day s Journey Into Night, the characters have no control over the

Washington Wizards Case Study
The Washington Wizards have shown their playoff inexperience throughout this year s playoffs. The
most obvious supporting fact to this claim for the Wizards is their inability to play well on road. For
the Wizards to win this series against the Celtics they must complete a task that they have failed to
achieve this entire season: Win at the TD Garden. Here is what the Wizards will have to do to increase
their chances of winning Game 7. All stars to Super stars John Wall and Bradley Beal are legitimate
all stars. The team is better when both guys are on the court the same time. In their sole road win these
playoffs, the series clinching Game 6 win over the Atlanta Hawks, John Wall played five more
minutes than his minutes per game average. This is not rocket science: the team will be better if their
star athletes play more. It s not that simple though as the additional minutes increases the probability
of diminished returns such as poor play due to fatigue and out of sync team chemistry due to changes
in the lineup rotation among other factors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the Wizards will have to play John Wall and Bradley Beal +40 minutes to increase their

Going back to their sole road playoff win, Wall and Beal played above average by combining for 73
points to lead their inexperienced team to victory. This lead by example style by both players was on

The Pikes Peak Gold Rush and Civil and Indian Wars
Until gold was revealed in the Rocky Mountains in 1859, the native population was virtually
undisturbed by outside influence and the prairies were freely used to sustain life. When the gold was
discovered, a whole new attitude came across the land. The population exploded and that means that
there came change. With the discovery of gold, the invaders from the east would make those changes.
Just like the unearthing of this widely sought out metal a decade earlier in California by the forty
niners, the fifty niners forced themselves in to stake and protect their claims. With these changes,
those who had original title to the land would find themselves under new ideas, new laws, and a new
way of life. But, just because there is gold to be had, not everybody will be successful. There will be
new wealth and bitter disappointment. So, the question is who benefitted the most from this discovery
and who got the wrong end of the stick? The first set of losers were the go backs . No census was ever
taken to count the number of people who lefts their homes to go to the mountains, but it was estimated
that the number totaled a 100,000 new immigrants by historians with about only 50,000 making it.
The work was hard and the returns were disappointing. Some miners made it rich, but most didn t.
What little bit of gold that they did find was used for food, housing, and supplies. So after a couple of
weeks, half of them either started new towns, farms, businesses to sell much needed

The Florida Conference Of Seventh Day Adventists Essay
A Storybranding Analysis of the Florida Conference of Seventh Day Adventists
The early Adventist Church emerged from a climate of religious revival in the Northeastern United
States , (Lechleitner, 2013). Its founder was the late William Miller, (Slick, n.d.). The Church was
founded based on the idea of the Second Coming of Jesus, (Church, 2013). The Seventh Day
Adventism is a Christian faith with multiple fundamental beliefs such as the Sabbath. The Sabbath is
the day in which God decided to rest after creating the Earth. For the Seventh Day Adventists, the
Sabbath is Saturday, as God rested on the Seventh Day of the week. Ellen G. White, a woman
considered one of the founding members of the Church and a prophetess, developed another
fundamental belief of how husbands should treat their wives as equal, the way they were created to be
, (Banks, 1992). As we can see, women play an important role in this doctrine.
As the Seventh Day Adventist Church grew, they developed Conferences around the World. For the
purpose of this study, we will look into the Florida Conference. Florida Conference of Seventh day
Adventists is an unincorporated, nonprofit organisation which serves as the administrative body for its
sisterhood of churches with an emphasis on evangelism, nurturing constituents, and operating a
system of schools , (Adventist, n.d.). The Florida Conference covers 57 counties of the 67 in the State
of Florida, it also manages 206 churches, 56 companies, and at least 33

Acute Renal Failure
Although the function of the urinary system is used to filter and eliminate waste from the body, it also
contributes with maintenance of homeostasis of water and blood pressure, regulates electrolytes, pH
balance, and activates vitamin D. The urinary system consists of 2 kidneys which extract wastes from
the blood, balance body fluid, and converts it into urine. It also includes 2 ureters which conduct urine
from the kidneys to the urinary bladder via peristalsis, a urinary bladder which serves as a reservoir
for urine and finally a urethra which conducts urine from the bladder to the outside of the body for
elimination. The ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra together form the urinary tract, which acts as a
plumbing system to drain urine from the kidneys, store it, and then release it during urination (Taylor,
1999).
As simple as this urinary system may sound there are also complication such as acute renal failure or
acute kidney failure, this occurs when the kidneys suddenly are unable to filter waste products from
the blood. When kidneys lose their filtering ability, dangerous levels of wastes may accumulate and
the blood s chemical makeup may get out of balance (mayo clinic, 1998). Acute renal failure is
categories into three different stages prerenal, intrarenal, and postrenal.
Prerenal is the most common type of acute renal

Crime Scene Reconstruction
ENC 1102 154
Reconstructing a crime scene takes a lot of effort from experienced law enforcement, medical
examiners, and criminalists. All of these professionals give unique perspectives to develop a crime
scene reconstruction. Forensic scientists also play a vital role in helping to reconstruct the crime scene.
They use the crime scene reconstruction to show events that occurred prior to, during, and after a
crime was committed. (Saferstein, 2009) There are many things that these reconstructions can do to
aid in investigations. 3 D reconstructions are more advanced and can show real life events based on

(Clemens D. W., 1998) Investigators don t only look at one type of evidence. There is also the direct
physical evidence. With direct physical evidence, it provides investigators with a definite conclusion
or direction. This type of evidence employs deductive reasoning to state a fact that can be understood
by everyone. For example, if a transfer bloodstain on the clothing of a homicide victim has a DNA
type consistent with that of the suspect, the victim must have had contact with the suspect after the
suspect was injured and began bleeding. (Saferstein, 2009) With all the evidence that investigators
have gathered, they can begin to do some reenactments. Reenactments are done by live personnel,
mannequins, or computer generated models. Anyone or anything used in a live reenactment needs to
be close to the same size and strength or the actual victim and suspect. (Bennett, 2007) With the
reenactments, this allows the investigators to see firsthand if the scenario is even physically possible.
This gives them a great look at every option, and helps them to find what really could have happened
at a crime scene. After all the physical evidence had been gathered and they have looked at everything,
the final step with the crime scene reconstruction is the, event timeline. This will define each event
that occurred at a crime scene in various probable orders within a known or estimated time frame.

In 1999 Dow Jones added Intel to its list triggering a spike in the price of share to around $70. It

Ned Kelly, A Hero Or A Villain
Ned Kelly was certainly a villain rather a hero
Ned Kelly was certainly a villain due to his violent and bloodthirsty behavior throughout his life. Even
as a child, Ned was involved in trouble and developed an early life of crime. To contribute to the
crimes, Ned Kelly is to blame for infamous attack at Stringybark Creek. Finally Kelly was the gang
leader in the merciless shootout of the Glenrowan Siege. Kelly s trouble with the law quickly
escalated through indecent behaviour, assault and stock theft to police killer.
Ned Kelly is definitely a villain because of his development of an early endless life of crime. Kelly did
not receive a normal childhood and was instead meddling with the law. The Kelly s were often in
trouble with the police over horse and cattle theft. At the age of fourteen in 1869, Kelly was arrested
and served seven weeks in jail for the alleged assault of Ah Fook, a Chinese pig farmer. At such a
young age, Ned Kelly was already known for his crimes and explains why he is undeniably a villain.
Furthermore, as Kelly grew older his crimes started to worsen. Again in 1869, Ned was alleged of
being assistant to thief turned bushranger Harry Power and was charged for helping out during some
robberies. Due to these interactions with people doing crime, Kelly was further drawn into the world
of crime. Kelly was again jailed in 1870 for three years after assaulting a hawker (salesperson) and
also being in possession of a stolen horse. Ned Kelly s criminal actions didn t end there. On the 15th
of April, 1878, Kelly shot at Constable Alexander Fitzpatrick in the wrist after he became too friendly
with his sister Kate. Kelly s crime rate was endless.Later the Kelly gang led by their leader Ned Kelly,
committed some major robberies in the National Bank branches at Euroa and Jerilderie. At Jerilderie,
the gang even held police and civilians hostage while stealing all the money from the bank s vaults.
Ned Kelly s early life was corrupted in crime with theft and assault and added towards his increase in
villainy.
Ned Kelly was certainly a villain rather than a hero due to his barbaric actions at Stringybark Creek.
Stringybark Creek was the new hiding point for the Kelly gang. On the 26th of October

Feminist Perspective In Hamlet
Throughout history, women have endured patriarchy and oppression. The re envisioning of literature
in a feminist canon has reinvigorated lost works of women and has made clear themes of sexual
difference and importance of gender within classical texts. In William Shakespeare s Hamlet, the
feminist perspective reveals several elements of these societal differences that were so relevant in
Elizabethan times. Although the play suggests an array of interpretations, the feminist perspective
emphasizes the strength and significance of the feminine elements in this controversial piece of
literature, mainly through the deterioration of Ophelia s psyche, the patriarchal relationships that
admonish the component of power concerning gender, and the significant rhetoric that differentiates
these roles. Within the feminist canon, the portrayal of the character Ophelia and her mental state in
the play have resulted in a vast amount of discussion concerning how male dominated society, and its
pressures, have affected women. Ophelia s insanity is not merely the inner workings of her mind
derailing but the composite result of the repression underlying within the atmosphere of Elsinore.
Specifically, in Act IV, Scene v where she is perceived to have gone insane conveys a multitude of
ideas of what is the meaning of this outburst and its impact on gender perspectives. According to
Elaine Showalter, Representing Ophelia: Women, Madness, and the Responsibilities of Feminist
Criticism, there

Model Of Counterproductive Work Behavior
A Stressor Emotion Model of Counterproductive Work Behavior:
Spector and Fox (2002, 2005) developed a model of Counterproductive work Behavior. The central
importance, in this model, is given to emotions as a response to workplace stressors. At the heart of
this model is the connection from the environment to perceptions, to emotions, and then to CWB.
According to Spector and Fox, employees perceive and appraise conditions and events at work. The
perceived stressors induce negative emotions (i.e. anger, anxiety, and depression) and contribute to
Counterproductive work Behavior that can occur immediately and impulsively or at a later time.
Control and personality are two other factors having important role in stressor emotion model because

In this type of CWB, the employee deliberately hampers the quality and quality of work by not
performing a task which he was capable of performing, and thus negatively affects organizational
efficiency (Hollinger and Clark 1982). So when employees do not perform a task which they can, they
are indulged in production deviance (Spector et. al.2006). This is another serious from of
counterproductive work behavior because an employee who is supposed to facilitate organizational
performance is intentionally creating hurdles in the way of its success.
Sabotage:
Sabotage is another dimension of counterproductive work behavior which is closely linked to the
concept of production deviance. In this act an employee damages the physical assets in the
organization by engaging in seditious activities (Chen and Spector 1992). Defaming your organization
by criticizing it publically and misuse of information and communication technology against
organizational interest also fall under the dimension of sabotage (Weatherbee2010). Sabotage also
produces negative impact on organizations by damaging its productivity good name.
Theoretically both these counterproductive work behaviors are intertwined despite the reality that
productive deviance is a passive and sabotage is an active approach (Spector et

Gantt Chart Analysis
Introduction
I have been assigned the job of creating a project schedule for the construction of a new hotel complex
in Preston Town Centre; it is next to a major roundabout in the town centre which is less than half a
mile away from the local train station and bus station. As planning permission has been approved,
work will begin shortly on constructing the complex.
I have been given a list of all the major tasks that are included in building the complex as well as the
duration of each task and an approximate cost of each job, as per standard I will be charging £50 a
hour to create the schedule which will include a Gantt Chart, a critical path analysis and a cost
analysis for the construction.
Discussion of schedule of projects

It needs a good procurement policy to find the best and most realistic cost for each of the task.
The analysis needs to be consistent as it relies on being accurate to complete the analysis as if it isn t
consistent then there will be problems if they are not spotted and rectified before the construction of
the complex.
If the analysis does not have good documentation the project will fail as there will be no explanation
or details on how the construction should work, there would be no approximate dates for when each
task is due to be started or finished, as well as the approximate duration of tasks.
This means that as important as costing is, it ensures that the company can make a profit from the
project or they will not want to extend their business if it will lose them money as they will have to
pay out more for construction, rent, labour and bills

Adoptive Couple Vs. Baby Girl
Adoptive couple v. Baby Girl was a case that involved the biological parents of the baby girl in
question. The biological mother Christy was Hispanic Caucasian and, the father Mr. Brown, a member
of a Cherokee Indian tribe. Congress had to step in due to the ICWA or the Indian Child Welfare Act
that was passed in 1978 to prevent the illegal and harsh removal of Indian children from the tribes.
This case was a huge battle in the Supreme Court between the biological father Dusten Brown and the
adoptive parents of baby Veronica in September of 2011. This case caused uproar with people on both
sides of the fence.
The case began when the mother of baby Veronica who lived Oklahoma and was engaged briefly to
Mr. Brown but, broke up while she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course Adoptive parents across the nation seemed to digress from this opinion, due to the
emotional struggle and financial trials that often come with the adoption process, and favored that they
baby be given to their adoptive parents who rightfully adopted a child who had been willingly given
up in infancy (and raised and cared for by adoptive parents for two years) by the biological mother
and a father who relinquished his biological rights to her prior to adoption.
Similar cases occurred in the 1960 s and 1970 s which ultimately resulted in the ICWAAct. In a
similar situation a young man and woman had the same problem and the pregnant mother in question
pursued the father to relinquish his rights (which he did) and the mother was cared for by the adoptive
parents during her pregnancy (starting by the 4th month) until childbirth when the baby was legally
adopted by the adoptive parents. Similar to this case which occurred in 2011 the young man in
question did not agree that his daughter would be given up for adoption but only claimed that he had
agreed to give up parental rights but the relationship of blood could not be terminated nor denied. In
many of these cases from the era prior to ICWA the baby was taken from the adoptive parents and
returned to her rightful home since the relationship of parent could not be

Technical Documentation Assignment
The purpose of this memo is to describe how I and other members in our group proceed the work of
technical documentation assignment.
Our group decided to choose how to clean a Heckler Lock USP handgun as our topic for the technical
documentation. For this assignment, we all agreed on making an instruction for this topic. Actually,
we had two guns to give instruct at first, one gun was rifle and one gun was handgun. During the
process, we changed the topic only to the handgun because it was more able to give a detail instruction
for a specific gun. We chose this topic because this topic would help people to become more educated
on handgun maintenance. With many people who own guns, it was very essential if they do not know
how to maintain the guns.
With regarded to that, our audience members were those who would like to learn how to clean a gun
or those that had a gun but do not know how to clean it... Our context of use for this technical
documentation was focus on using the basics technical of a handgun to instruct the audience knew
what to do for maintaining a handgun from the H K USP handgun. Therefore, we used all factors and
elements that related to cleaning a handgun. Included how to disassemble and assemble the handgun,
lists of parts, tools, and condition required, etc. our audiences would ... Show more content on

My part of this technical assignment was to research the history of the gun, which is H K USP
handgun. I needed to use this information to give it an introduction at the beginning of the paper. The
process went on, I and Koji took the safety information and conclusion part of the gun. There were a
lot of information about safety information, so I had to choose and decide what is appropriate with the
gun. After the peer review, I also did redesign all of the text of the assignment such as indentation,
spacing, heading,

  • 2. The Causality Of Foreign Direct Investment And Economic... Testing the Causality Between Foreign Direct Investment and Economic Growth Ned R Jackson Utah Valley University March 2015 Abstract This paper looks to determine the causality of foreign direct investment and economic growth. Implementing common and basic econometric techniques to test the association between these two topics in The United Arab Emirates. In past research it has been implicated that FDI has causality in economic growth mainly due to the ability FDI has to introduce new technology to the host country from the foreign countries who are in many cases much more technologically advanced. However, we hope to show that though there may be a stronger causality between FDI to economic growth that there is enough evidence to show that there are cases in which economic growth is the cause for the expansion in FDI that has taken place. =Results from the Solow growth model and Unit root test will allow us to interpret the true relationship between these two economic factors for the United Arab Emirates specifically. Introduction The correlation between foreign direct investment (FDI) and economic growth is well documented see (Borensztein, De Gregorio, J W. Lee 98). Even though there has been an extensive amount of research, which includes both FDI and economic growth, there still seems to be a substantial divide between the results; which are concluded within these papers. • 5. Business Practices And Culture The Same If a company wants to expand their business to a different country, is the business practices and culture the same? According to the Encyclopedia of management, The standards, expectations, and benchmarks of business behavior vary across countries (Hill. p. 491). There are numerous countries in the world with their own culture, which correlates with their business methods. With that said, it is vital for companies to understand that not every country is the same, in terms of business and culture. The culture and business structure, for example in The United States (U.S), is different in Spain. Spain s business practices and culture has differences in these three categories: contextual, social, non verbal. Spain is a high context culture. Business people in this country prefer face to face versus written communication. The Spanish look at nonverbal communication like facial expressions and eye contact. In addition, Spaniards analyze the true intentions of a company; does the company care or is it just a financial gain for them? People with a business proposal must schedule a time to meet Spaniards. Spaniards appreciate those with great personalities and make the effort to meet them. With that said, Spaniards expect businesspeople to build personal relationships with them. In fact, the first meeting is meant to get to know one another, create stable relationships as well as trust (Global Road Warrior. Spain: The business experience ). • 8. Essay about Icons of Ambivalence in Bless Me Ultima Icons of Ambivalence in Bless Me Ultima The portrait of Mexican Americans is layered in shades of ambivalence. Aside from the fact there is evidence that they can not really be classified as a migratory culture in that the land where they tend to migrate once belonged to Mexico, they can also lay an earlier claim to the land as Native Americans. The Spanish Europeans who settled in the area that became Mexico evolved as the dominant culture over the oral culture of the Native Americans. Nevertheless, there is evidence of ambivalence among the Native Americans to the dominant culture of the Spanish in what is arguably one of the Mexico s basic texts, the story of the Miraculous Apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe in 1531. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Legend says that a child who cries in the womb will be given the Don and become a curandera. Don means the gift from God. (La Curandera 1). Therein lies the contradiction of the curandera, she cannot be categorized as only a pagan icon, in that curandera has respect for and practices the religion of Catholicism along with her healing (Blessed or Evil). Similar to the Virgin of Guadalupe, the character of Ultima, a curandera, defies easy classification as either of the native or dominant culture. The myth of the Miraculous Apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe in 1531 and Bless Me Ultima arise as cultural narratives of ambivalence, with elements of both resistance and assimilation in their characters, which elude definition by dominant culture s standards. Juan Diego, the native peasant to whom the Virgin of Guadalupe appears, and Antonio Marez, the young boy who is to become an apprentice of sorts to Ultima, exhibit similar ambivalence, with one important distinction. Juan Diego becomes more enmeshed with the dominant culture as a result of his experience by becoming a life long proponent of the Catholic faith (Blessed Juan). • 9. The Spanish Leaders And Indian Warriors Mexico and Spain are two countries that started interacting with each other since the early 1500s. In 1518, Hernán Cortés (a Spanish conqueror) led an expedition to Mexico establishing the city of Veracruz on his arrival. In 1521, Cortes and some of his men marched into the capital city of the Aztec, Tenochtitlan. Even though the Aztecs and their emperor Moctezuma tried to persuade the Spanish to leave, Cortés and his man did not accept. Instead, he allied with some other indigenous people who were enemies of the Aztecs such as the Tlaxcalans in order to defeat them and take Tenochtitlan (1). Following the Spanish Conquest, the Aztecs and Tlaxcalans had aligned themselves with the Spaniards. Thus, most explorations were undertaken jointly with the Spanish leaders and Indian warriors (2). A clear example of this is the expedition to Zacatecas (Northern Mexico), which was referred as La Gran Chichimeca . The group of Spanish and Indian explorers ignored the fact that the indigenous tribes who lived there, considered La Gran Chichimeca as inheritance from their ancestors. Therefore, when the Spanish invaded their land in 1550, Zacatecos and Guachichile Indians began attacking travelers and merchants, including the Spaniards. Thus, starting the Chichimeca War. While this fear seems valid when constructed without context, applying the specifics of the BP oil spill show this line of reasoning to be a slippery slope fallacy. Spending 58 million dollars on one hotel now will not lead to the complete squandering of the rest of the restoration resources simply because, in comparison to the total funds, 58 million dollars is a small sum. When viewed through the everyday experiences of a regular civilian, 58 million dollars is an almost incomprehensible amount of money. However, The Telograph states that BP has spent 28 billion dollars on containment and cleaning efforts and set aside another 20 billion as a compensation fund (Sherwell and Lawler). When set against a total effort of 48 billion dollars that may be contributed from BP alone, 58 million dollars accounts for roughly 0.12% of the potential resources dedicated towards the aftermath of the spill in the Gulf. Given in figures more consistent with the experience of the average person, this is the equivalent of about 60 dollars out of a 50 thousand dollar salary. In developing countries, such as in India, child are are forced to work, often as the result of a system of debt bondage where their family trades a small amount of money with an individual and in return, their child is sent away to work, and some of these families will never see their child again. Many of these children, due to the either the lack of regulation or as a result of a country simply turning a blind eye to the reality of child labor that violates child labor laws . As we saw in the video from class about the chocolate child labor farmers, many of these children engage in backbreaking work, from sunrise to sunset, and as a result lose their childhood, their ability to go to school, their ability to play with other kids, because of the debt bondage their family agreed to. This is what was experienced by Iqbal Masih. As a four year old boy, his parents sold him into debt bondage for 600 rupees, or less than $6, to an employer who owned a carpet weaving business. Corsaro explains that child labor is especially desired in the carpet weaving business because they can squat easily, and their nimble fingers can make the smallest, tightest knots . He woke up before dawn and made his way, bound in chains, down to the factory for work. He worked at that faculty for 6 years, working 12 hours a day, everyday. When the change happened, they were already out in the maze seeing what they could find. Change tends to affect me more heavily than it did the mice. I tend to use a combination of brainpower and emotion when I am looking for my Cheese just like Hem and Haw. What makes me more similar to Hem is the reaction to the change. When the Cheese goes missing, Hem experiences an intense emotional reaction. He yells and screams because he feels entitled to his Cheese. He had been enjoying the Cheese for so long that he could not imagine a situation where the Cheese was no longer there for him. Haw s reaction is much more subtle. He was sad. The Cheese being at Cheese Station C was a measure of comfort for him, and without it he was left in shock. This is precisely how I react. I tend to count on all the constant people and situations in my life. If my family, girlfriend, car, apartment, or air conditioning were ever to withdraw their presence it would leave me in shock. Instead, the superman is a person who has overcome all the flaws of mankind and is essentially perfect. He felt the idea of the superman as well as other Nietzsche writings gave him and the Nazis the right and the reason to take over what they wished and impose the beliefs they wished. In fact, Hitler believed himself to be a superman. This belief is evident by the way Hitler acted during his reign as the leader of the Nazi party. The attempted destruction of the Jewish people as a race was actually based on writings by Nietzsche. In Hitler s mind the Jews were inferior and therefore no compassion should be given to them. Hitler, of course, took this once step further and actually killed many of the weak. During World War II Hitler even issued every German soldier a copy of one of Nietzsche s writings, Thus Spake Zarathustra. National Socialism and Fascism also spawned from Nietzsche and his thoughts on society. Nietzsche himself was very much socialist in his beliefs which is evident in much of what he wrote. Though socialism may seem far from Nietzsche s idea of the superman, it is actually very close because the ruler is looked at as a superman who makes all decisions and knows what is best at all times. This can be seen in many societies such as Italy and Germany in World War II, and to some extent The Soviet Union. In each of these cases the ruling party or man used Nietzsche s beliefs to rationalize their rampant wars, hatred, and genocide. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Water s Influence on Settements in Egypt The settlement of a town had to take two main considerations into mind, the accessibility to a water source and the height it was built above the flooding of the Nile. The mud brick buildings were sensitive to water and damp conditions, so care had to be taken when considering the placement of a house, town or city. When houses did crumble or fall apart, new houses were simply built upon the ruins of the former house. This led to houses and towns being built on more elevated surfaces. These hills are called tells. The permanent structures like temples and their surrounding enclosures are now on a lower floor level this would be the original level as temples were not generally built or renewed upon each other as the houses were. Limitations Of Public Education Empowered or Limited When it comes to the topic of education, most of us will readily agree that receiving an education is necessary and important to daily life. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of limitations. Whereas some are convinced that public education limits it students, others maintain that it empowers them. My own view is that public education limits students because there is a lack of autonomy, a focus on segregation, and a very real pressure to succeed. The standard way of thinking about education is to believe that it empowers students, however some argue that it actually limits a student s individuality. In his essay Against School , John Gatto demonstrates how the public educational system places limitations on its students. Gatto is an award winning educator and has taught in public schools for almost twenty years. According to Gatto, We could encourage the best qualities of youthfulness.... simply by being more flexible about time, text, and tests....and by giving each student what autonomy he or she needs in order to take a risk every now and then. But we don t do that. (Gatto p. 115). In other words, public education has the ability to empower students, but because of the strict structure, focus on testing, and lack of autonomy, it is more restricting than empowering. Many people assume that students going to an IVY league school are the brightest of their peers when it comes to academics. When given an inside look at these prestigious, best of the best institutions, we encounter something different than what we expect. William Deresiewicz attended Columbia University and was a professor at Yale, and he sates, most of them seemed content to color within the lines that their education has marked out for them. Very few were passionate about ideas. (Deresiewicz p. 203). Deresiewicz s point is that IVY League students aren t very willing to go beyond that which they have been taught in the classroom. What s the purpose of separating these students from their peers, who may not be as gifted academically, if they do not take their education beyond what they are formally taught. Segregation does not happen just at the college level, but also at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. The Birth Of The Periodic Table In September 1860 the birth of the Periodic table began. A group of the world s best chemists assembled in Germany to discuss the issues of atomic mass. At this meeting an Italian chemist, Stanislao Cannizzaro, introduced the right way to accurately measure the relative mass of an atom. After the new method was introduced chemists started to recognize similarities in the properties of various elements and placed them into families. In this earlier stages of the periodic table there were four main chemists; Dobereiner, Newlands, Lothar Meyer, and Dmitri Mendeleev that played a substantial role in the development of the periodic table. Dobereiner started with a few family groups each containing three elements. Newlands put the elements of those families in repeating groups called octaves. Meyer noted additional repeating properties. Mendeleev put it all together into what has become the periodic table of the elements. The German chemist, named Dobereiner, in 1829 noted some of the first elemental similarities. His observations began with bromine, which had just been discovered. He noticed that the properties of bromine were similar to chlorine and iodine. Not only were they related but also various properties of bromine, including the atomic weight, fell midway between the properties of chlorine and iodine, but also there was a pattern within the group of regularly increasing atomic weights. As he did his research he noticed a couple other groups of elements with patterns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Pikes Peak Gold Rush and Civil and Indian Wars Until gold was revealed in the Rocky Mountains in 1859, the native population was virtually undisturbed by outside influence and the prairies were freely used to sustain life. When the gold was discovered, a whole new attitude came across the land. The population exploded and that means that there came change. With the discovery of gold, the invaders from the east would make those changes. Just like the unearthing of this widely sought out metal a decade earlier in California by the forty niners, the fifty niners forced themselves in to stake and protect their claims. With these changes, those who had original title to the land would find themselves under new ideas, new laws, and a new way of life. But, just because there is gold to be had, not everybody will be successful. There will be new wealth and bitter disappointment. So, the question is who benefitted the most from this discovery and who got the wrong end of the stick? The first set of losers were the go backs . The Florida Conference Of Seventh Day Adventists Essay A Storybranding Analysis of the Florida Conference of Seventh Day Adventists The early Adventist Church emerged from a climate of religious revival in the Northeastern United States , (Lechleitner, 2013). Its founder was the late William Miller, (Slick, n.d.). The Church was founded based on the idea of the Second Coming of Jesus, (Church, 2013). The Seventh Day Adventism is a Christian faith with multiple fundamental beliefs such as the Sabbath. The Sabbath is the day in which God decided to rest after creating the Earth. For the Seventh Day Adventists, the Sabbath is Saturday, as God rested on the Seventh Day of the week. Ellen G. White, a woman considered one of the founding members of the Church and a prophetess, developed another fundamental belief of how husbands should treat their wives as equal, the way they were created to be , (Banks, 1992). Acute Renal Failure Of The Urinary System Diana Galeana MED 2049 Acute Renal Failure Instructor Michelle Earxsion Lamothe 7/25/2014 Acute Renal Failure Although the function of the urinary system is used to filter and eliminate waste from the body, it also contributes with maintenance of homeostasis of water and blood pressure, regulates electrolytes, pH balance, and activates vitamin D. The urinary system consists of 2 kidneys which extract wastes from the blood, balance body fluid, and converts it into urine. It also includes 2 ureters which conduct urine from the kidneys to the urinary bladder via peristalsis, a urinary bladder which serves as a reservoir for urine and finally a urethra which conducts urine from the bladder to the outside of the body for elimination. The ureters, urinary bladder, and urethra together form the urinary tract, which acts as a plumbing system to drain urine from the kidneys, store it, and then release it during urination (Taylor, 1999). As simple as this urinary system may sound there are also complication such as acute renal failure or acute kidney failure, this occurs when the kidneys suddenly are unable to filter waste products from the blood. When kidneys lose their filtering ability, dangerous levels of wastes may accumulate and the blood s chemical makeup may get out of balance (mayo clinic, 1998). For example, if a transfer bloodstain on the clothing of a homicide victim has a DNA type consistent with that of the suspect, the victim must have had contact with the suspect after the suspect was injured and began bleeding. The re envisioning of literature in a feminist canon has reinvigorated lost works of women and has made clear themes of sexual difference and importance of gender within classical texts. In William Shakespeare s Hamlet, the feminist perspective reveals several elements of these societal differences that were so relevant in Elizabethan times. Although the play suggests an array of interpretations, the feminist perspective emphasizes the strength and significance of the feminine elements in this controversial piece of literature, mainly through the deterioration of Ophelia s psyche, the patriarchal relationships that admonish the component of power concerning gender, and the significant rhetoric that differentiates these roles. Within the feminist canon, the portrayal of the character Ophelia and her mental state in the play have resulted in a vast amount of discussion concerning how male dominated society, and its pressures, have affected women. Ophelia s insanity is not merely the inner workings of her mind derailing but the composite result of the repression underlying within the atmosphere of Elsinore. • 41. Model Of Counterproductive Work Behavior A Stressor Emotion Model of Counterproductive Work Behavior: Spector and Fox (2002, 2005) developed a model of Counterproductive work Behavior. The central importance, in this model, is given to emotions as a response to workplace stressors. At the heart of this model is the connection from the environment to perceptions, to emotions, and then to CWB. According to Spector and Fox, employees perceive and appraise conditions and events at work. The perceived stressors induce negative emotions (i.e. anger, anxiety, and depression) and contribute to Counterproductive work Behavior that can occur immediately and impulsively or at a later time. Control and personality are two other factors having important role in stressor emotion model because both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this type of CWB, the employee deliberately hampers the quality and quality of work by not performing a task which he was capable of performing, and thus negatively affects organizational efficiency (Hollinger and Clark 1982). So when employees do not perform a task which they can, they are indulged in production deviance (Spector et. al.2006). This is another serious from of counterproductive work behavior because an employee who is supposed to facilitate organizational performance is intentionally creating hurdles in the way of its success. Sabotage: Sabotage is another dimension of counterproductive work behavior which is closely linked to the concept of production deviance. In this act an employee damages the physical assets in the organization by engaging in seditious activities (Chen and Spector 1992). Defaming your organization by criticizing it publically and misuse of information and communication technology against organizational interest also fall under the dimension of sabotage (Weatherbee2010). Sabotage also produces negative impact on organizations by damaging its productivity good name. Theoretically both these counterproductive work behaviors are intertwined despite the reality that productive deviance is a passive and sabotage is an active approach (Spector et ... • 42. Gantt Chart Analysis Introduction I have been assigned the job of creating a project schedule for the construction of a new hotel complex in Preston Town Centre; it is next to a major roundabout in the town centre which is less than half a mile away from the local train station and bus station. As planning permission has been approved, work will begin shortly on constructing the complex. I have been given a list of all the major tasks that are included in building the complex as well as the duration of each task and an approximate cost of each job, as per standard I will be charging £50 a hour to create the schedule which will include a Gantt Chart, a critical path analysis and a cost analysis for the construction. Discussion of schedule of projects The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It needs a good procurement policy to find the best and most realistic cost for each of the task. The analysis needs to be consistent as it relies on being accurate to complete the analysis as if it isn t consistent then there will be problems if they are not spotted and rectified before the construction of the complex. If the analysis does not have good documentation the project will fail as there will be no explanation or details on how the construction should work, there would be no approximate dates for when each task is due to be started or finished, as well as the approximate duration of tasks. This means that as important as costing is, it ensures that the company can make a profit from the project or they will not want to extend their business if it will lose them money as they will have to pay out more for construction, rent, labour and bills Project Costing Analysis Activity | Estimated cost | How many of each unit | Total | Site clearance | £3,000.00 | 15 | £45,000.00 | removal of rubble | £5,000.00 | 20 | £100,000.00 | hole boring | £2,000.00 | 30 | £60,000.00 | concrete pouring | £2,000.00 | 30 | £60,000.00 | design of steelwork | £50,000.00 | 1 | £50,000.00 | manufacture of steelwork | £150,000.00 | 1 | £150,000.00 | delivery on site | £5,000.00 | 21 | £105,000.00 | erection on site | | | £0.00 | delivery and finishing of concrete floor | £4,500.00 | 25 | £112,500.00 | installation of stairs | ... Congress had to step in due to the ICWA or the Indian Child Welfare Act that was passed in 1978 to prevent the illegal and harsh removal of Indian children from the tribes. This case was a huge battle in the Supreme Court between the biological father Dusten Brown and the adoptive parents of baby Veronica in September of 2011. Of course Adoptive parents across the nation seemed to digress from this opinion, due to the emotional struggle and financial trials that often come with the adoption process, and favored that they baby be given to their adoptive parents who rightfully adopted a child who had been willingly given up in infancy (and raised and cared for by adoptive parents for two years) by the biological mother and a father who relinquished his biological rights to her prior to adoption. Similar cases occurred in the 1960 s and 1970 s which ultimately resulted in the ICWAAct. In a similar situation a young man and woman had the same problem and the pregnant mother in question pursued the father to relinquish his rights (which he did) and the mother was cared for by the adoptive parents during her pregnancy (starting by the 4th month) until childbirth when the baby was legally adopted by the adoptive parents. Similar to this case which occurred in 2011 the young man in question did not agree that his daughter would be given up for adoption but only claimed that he had agreed to give up parental rights but the relationship of blood could not be terminated nor denied. In many of these cases from the era prior to ICWA the baby was taken from the adoptive parents and returned to her rightful home since the relationship of parent could not be ... • 44. Technical Documentation Assignment The purpose of this memo is to describe how I and other members in our group proceed the work of technical documentation assignment. Our group decided to choose how to clean a Heckler Lock USP handgun as our topic for the technical documentation. For this assignment, we all agreed on making an instruction for this topic.
