The Risks And The Management Of Adolescents With Eating...
In July, 2014 an education article was written by Michael W. Roberts, DDS, MScD and Travis M.
Hicks, DDS, MS called Warning Signs . Both show similar research interests in the risks and the
management of adolescents with eating disorders. The funding provided was supplied by the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. The ultimate goal of this research
was to educate dental professionals on anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa and how to identify the
predisposing factors.
To begin, Hicks and Roberts start off by start off by telling us that statistically speaking anorexia and
bulimia are serious medical conditions that most commonly effect adolescents and young adults. In
2014, 70 million people worldwide showed clinical signs and symptoms of eating disorders out of that
70 million people, 24 million accounted for the United States alone. Both men and women are
affected by these eating disorders, but is seen more predominately in women struggling with inner
body issues. As an example in Western cultures, the success that you achieve is obtained by how
attractive and thin a person is perceived to be by others.
Both disorders are classified as psychosocial disorders which as both Hicks and Robert explain is a
link between how each individual person perceives themselves when they connected food with their
bodies. These specific types of psychosocial disorders gives a person a distorted view on eating
behavior and habits that are unhealthy and

Write Your Own Rock Song
In most instances, a listener strives to find a song that is simultaneously culturally and socially
conscious, while having a listenability that allows the song to be played at any time or any place. For
the above song, I took a pointedly socially and culturally approach to the socioeconomic inequalities
that persist in the United States, using subtle and themes of freedom and hardship, while concurrently
using the not so subtle theme of class differences to convey the differences between social classes in
our society. The lyrics provide the potential listener with a juxtaposition of someone who invariably
questions their place in society in comparison with an individual who seems to have everything they
could ever need or want, hence the inclusion of (Mercedes) Benz in the second verse. The lyrics are
written in simple verse form and intentionally have the last two lines of the first verse rhyming with
each other, as well as the first two lines of the second verse rhyming with one another. The rhyming is
meant to emphasis the restraints that lower class people have in terms of social mobility and the
freedom those in upper classes enjoy on a daily basis. The end and Benz creates a slant rhyme that
resembles the perpetual cycle of poverty in contrast with someone who is sad about their luxury car
being out of commission. Given the form of the lyrics and their social connections, the options for
music selection and instrumentation varied across genre and sound. For the

The Merriam-Webster Definition Of Cosmogony
The Merriam Webster definition of cosmogony is: a theory of the origin of the universe. Now this
seems simple. As long as there have been humans on Earth we have looked back to find some
meaning to our existence. The simple fact is that we are a forever curious species, and we are driven
by a need to understand the world around us. However, for most of our history, we have lacked the
means of observing enough of space to truly understand our origins, so we created gods to explain
things we couldn t understand. As our understanding of the universe changed, so, too, did these gods.
The Enlightenment in the Modern era was the first time that God was brought into question. The
Church had too much power, people wanted freedom, and religion was

Standing For The National Anthem Analysis
Standing for the National Anthem
First a little background on the national anthem. The song itself was written to commemorate a
military victory when we withstood a British attack and Old Glory continued to wave over the
battered fort during the War of 1812. In 1931 Congress officially decided listeners should stand when
The Star Spangled Banner is played. Congress also gave suggestions for the behavior of people
listening to the song. Which is basically to stand at attention, hand over your heart, and men should
remove their hats and hold them over their heart. (Dempsey, Martin). So even Congress believes that
is what a person should do, but so they would not be in violation of 1st Amendment rights, they only
recommended it, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So why would people stand for the anthem of a country that we know very little about, they may be
oppressive to people of color too. We do it to show the world we are respectful people, and it is their
anthem, whether we agree with the things they do, we should be respectful of that country and the
people competing in the Olympics. All countries have some problems, and some people may not be
treated unfairly, but we are not the ones to disrespect them during an Olympic performance. Too many
times things are blown out of proportion through the media, so I would not disrespect someone
because of something I saw or heard on the radio or television. Unless you are there you do not know
all the facts of a situation. The only way we can make a difference is be there for each other and show
our respect for this great country by standing for the national anthem. Respect is the one thing you can
give freely and is always appreciated. You are telling the world that out of respect you are standing.
Respect for a country that is united in times of need, free, and democratic. Just as you show elder
people respect by being there for them. We are there for our country. The flag is a symbol of freedom,
the song was written to commemorate an outstanding military victory, where we worked together and
stood united to defend our country. So really standing during the song is not really too much to ask. It
is done out of respect for a nation that has given so many so much. Remember when you are standing
and listening to that anthem the many people that have lost their lives for that flag and as long as we
stay united, then the bonds of this country become stronger. So show your respect for our country, our
flag, our anthem and the world will see how truly strong this nation really

Analysis Of O Pioneers By Willa Cather
O Pioneers by Willa Cather sets itself apart from other novels of its time because of what its stands
for, feminism. It exemplifies women s equality, represented by the main character, Alexandra, by
showing her survival in a male dominated society. She succeeded in building her female identity and
achieved a sense of female attainment by revolutionizing the wild land and struggling for her equal
rights with all that surrounded her. This paper focuses on the feminist thoughts and the positive
attitude of the image of the strong character Alexandra, who was independent, brave, and optimistic. A
spirit like hers, of strength and courage, insisted that she would never be defeated by man or nature.
The novel begins be explaining the small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After Alexandra s father, John Bergeson became sick he knew that she would have to be the one in
charge of their land. His two older sons were hard workers but knew nothing in comparison to
Alexandra when it came down to the logistics of the farm. John even stated the boys were not as half
intelligent as their sister (Cather, 1987, p. 76). John s dying wishes were to keep the land going and to
never leave even when times were tough and that is exactly what Alexandra did. By leaving Alexandra
in charge of the land Cather is showing her beliefs that women are beyond capable of being in charge
and making decisions without men. She built her own empire by turning the untamed land into
prosperous country side and she became one of the most successful farmers on the divide even after a
long sixteen year struggle. Alexandra dealt with criticism not only from other farmers but even from
her own brother s. Lou turned to his brother. This is what comes of letting a woman meddle in
business, he said bitterly. We ought to have taken things in our own hands years ago. But she liked to
run things, and we humored her (Cather). She only wanted the best for their family and to respect her
father s wishes but her own brother s doubted her time and time again. Even though she did not have
full support of her family she knew that she was going to stay on their land and that they would
eventually begin to prosper again.

Analysis Of Dragon s Village, Things Fall Apart, And...
In Africa and throughout the world, many countries have been forced to undergo the plight of colonial
rule. Along with this, comes varying external impacts which severely alter the cultural, political,
social, and personal identity of a country both during and long after the Colonial Era. The evidence of
these established changes can be found in the novels; Dragon s Village, Things Fall Apart, and Man of
the People surrounding China and Africa. Along with Deepa Mehta s period films, Earth and Water
and Iciar Bollain s juxtaposition piece, Even the Rain that emphasize the circumstances that occurred
in India and Bolivia.
A master at providing alternative context to Africa and concepts of decolonization, Chinua Achebe
wrote a great amount of literary work, including, Things Fall Apart (1956) and A Man of the People
(1966). The first novel, occurring both before and during Nigeria s neo colonial period, depicts the
relationship between Okonkwo and his Igbo tribe in Umuofia. With an identity heavily dependent on
his social status and structure, Achebe s protagonist communicates his extreme distaste for the
entrance of European colonizers:
Okonkwo was well known throughout the nine villages and even beyond. His fame rested on solid
personal achievements. As a young man of eighteen he had brought honor to his village by throwing
Amalinze the Cat. Amalinze was the great wrestler who for seven years was unbeaten, from Umuofia
to Mbaino. (1.1)

The, The Irresistible Pull Of Irrational Behavior, By Ori...
Have you ever made a decision and later completely wonder why it is you made that decision? Sway
The Irresistible Pull of Irrational Behavior by Ori Brafman and Rom Brafman examine moments of
our lives where we could easily be swayed. The Brafmans discuss topics like commitment and value
attribution. With examples of what attracts us into making a bad decision. The brilliant authors make it
easy to understand the analyzations of the situations. Where there is a possibility of being swayed.
With proper analyzation we can prevent these situations from taking place again. Almost everyone has
made a decision we misunderstand and behind that decision is an irresistible pull of irrational
behavior. No one is perfect, and no one can avoid being swayed into an irrational situation, not even
me.
Commitment can be tricky sometimes. Especially when the thing you are committing to ends up
resulting in a loss instead of a gain. The Brafmans captured the feeling of the moment when you have
lost. At this point it becomes clear to each of the participants that he or she isn t the only one with the
brilliant idea of winning the twenty bucks for cheap. There is a collective hard swallow (31). The
worst is when you re taking on a loss of an idea so heavily believed in. I ended up switching majors
because of constant loss of creativity. My initial major was graphic design. I started designing since
my freshman year of high school. It was a way for me to blow off some steam and express

Interpersonal Conflict Resolution And Mediation
Interpersonal Conflict Resolution and Mediation
Conflict is a problematic situation that occurs between interdependent people who seek different goals
or means to those goals. Conflict is inevitable as relationships become closer, more personal, and more
interdependent, more conflicts occur, perceived trivial or minor complaints become more significant,
and feelings become more intense. Conflict has many definitions (opposing viewpoints, when
opponents engage in battle, going against one another in some fashion, incompatibility between the
objectives of two or more characters or forces) and approaches (avoiding, accommodating, competing,
collaborating, compromising). Interpersonal conflict is the disagreement between two people in
respect to values and attitudes that leads to resentment. Definitions tend to imply that conflict is not a
beneficial behavior in which to engage. However, proactively addressing conflict via mediation has
been known to restore peace, enhance relationships, and bring cohesiveness to an otherwise divided
team. In the study of conflict, one soon realizes that the workplace is often the perfect setting for
conflict to occur. According to Wilmot and Hocker (2001), when assessing even a seemingly small
interpersonal conflict, one can benefit from a careful and objective assessment. In many situations
involving conflict, one party often has a significant amount of power over the other, resulting in an
advantageous situation for the stronger party. This

Sociological Concepts In Sicko
Sicko, a documentary film by Michael Moore, describes the medical issue in which many people who
live in the United States have to suffer their sickness due to the high treatment costs. Many people in
the U.S. do not have health insurance because they can afford for that. However, not only people that
do not have health insurance but also the people who have health insurance struggle for health care
coverage when they have an illness. Moreover, compared to other countries such as Canada, England,
France and Cuba, American health care system is extreme complicated and extremely expensive. To
receive the treatment, patients in the United States have to go through multiple questions and
processes, but there is no assurance that they will have the most effective treatment. ... Show more

Rescission is an impressive term to describe the health care problem in the U.S. Many insurance
companies tend to looking for the reasons to cancel coverage after a person gets sick. The difficulty is
that people are overwhelmed with the long list of question and information before registration or
treatment. That small mistakes or lack information is hard to avoid will be the reason for rescission.
The film shows that insurance company have thousands of reasons to refuse to provide coverage. The
medical issues can be explained by the features of capitalism in the United States. Capitalism is
considered as an economic system based on production for profit. While patients in Canada, England,
and France receive free health care and many free services from the government, people living in the
United States has to pay a lot money for those services from their pockets.
While doctors in England get bonus when making their patients live a healthy lifestyle to prevent
illness, the American doctors get more benefits when selling more medicine or

Punishment In Crime And Punishment
Without suffering, there is no hope of achieving redemption. This idea is straightforward; no one
consistently achieves what they want without struggling in some shape or form in order to get it, and
redemption is the goal in this case. Dostoyevsky brings this religiously based concept into his novel
Crime and Punishment to show his readers how suffering is not only unavoidable but also a means of
achieving something. In Crime and Punishment, A Russian man known as Raskolnikov murders an
old pawnbroker and her younger sister. The work progresses to show that the motivation behind the
murder is, among other things, to test a theory that Raskolnikov has about what kind of man he is.
After an extensive series of subplots and nearly insane moral arguments with himself and those around
him, Raskolnikov turns himself in and finds religion and redemption in a Siberian labor prison. His
nihilistic ideas developed from his educational background and St. Petersburg s intellectual revolution
steer the protagonist in the direction of the murder, but his inherent morality and his labor camp prison
s religious tendencies push him towards the moment of spiritual rebirth that becomes the true meaning
of the work. In addition to including the world around him and his own life events throughout the
piece, Dostoyevsky fills Crime and Punishment with juxtaposition of characters, irony, and
foreshadowing in order to present the importance of suffering and hard labor as the only means to

The Theme Of Love In The Scarlet Ibis By James Hurst
Love is unconditional within a family and should come without seeing any flaws one may have. Each
and every individual is given the ability to love, however not all have the strength and courage to
embrace it. Love is the most important aspect of life, but not all can accept an individual s differences.
James Hurst expresses this hardship in his story The Scarlet Ibis . Hurst displays the importance of
acceptance between two brothers, Brother and Doodle. Doodle is born with a disability that sets him
apart from other children his age. Brother cannot accept the fact that his little brother is different,
causing him to feel that he needs to make his brother normal . Brother s actions are driven by pride,

brother, stands him up, then Doodle collapses soon after. Through hard work and perseverance,
Doodle eventually learns to walk on his own. Brother gains confidence in Doodle, and now believes in
his own ability to do nothing wrong. In Old Woman Swamp, Brother also creates a development
program for Doodle. Brother and Doodle s relationship is beginning to flourish, Doodle and I spent
lots of time thinking about our future. We decided that when we were grown we d live in Old Woman
Swamp and pick dog tongue for a living...Mama and Daddy could come and live with us if they
wanted to. He even came up with the idea that he could marry Mama and I could marry Daddy (Hurst

bond. The beauty of Old Woman Swamp allows Doodle to imagine a perfect world. His innocence
causes him to not understand that his idea of a perfect world is never going to become a reality.
Brother is old enough to know everything Doodle is imagining is a lie, but the picture he is painting is
so serene, that all Brother could think to do was to agree. Doodle cherishes every second he has with
his older brother, and Brother realizes how precious his little brother really is. Old Woman Swamp is a
land of fantasy, whose warmth and comfort gives the two brothers a safe haven.

Malvolio and the Way he is Treated in William Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night
Malvolio is an extremely complicated and difficult character to study because of his mixed, complex
personality. At times in the play he seems very reliable and loyal but sometimes he seems foolish and
weak, and in many scenes in the play the audience are encouraged to laugh at him, his actions or his
words. He is not portrayed as a lovable character, which makes the play funnier. Also, the way that
Malvolio seems humourless actually makes him humorous. Just Malvolio s name can give you some
idea of his personality, it means in Latin evil wishing!

So, from being rude and offensive earlier on in the scene to Feste, he is now obedient and loyal.
Malvolio could, at this point, be called two faced. His personality changes depending on whom he is

Act II Scene 2 consists of a conversation between Malvolio and Viola/Cesario. Malvolio seems very
proud and pleased to be telling Viola/Cesario that Olivia does not want him to bring messages from
Orsino any more. Of course he does not realise that the implications of this message are actually the
complete opposite! He says:
And one thing more, that you never be so hardy to
come again in his affairs, unless it be to report your
lord s taking of this. (Lines 8 10)
Malvolio is then rude and selfish to Viola/Cesario because he obviously feels that he is more important
than him. Instead of handing Viola/Cesario the ring, he throws it onto the floor.
In the next scene, Act II Scene 3 Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are drinking, they persuade Feste to sing for
them but Maria is wary and warns them of the trouble they could be in. Malvolio is sent down by
Olivia to stop their unruly behaviour. Of course, Malvolio takes this opportunity to scold all of them
and be generally impolite to them:

Exercise For College Students Essay
Exercise For College Students
College life is a time full of fun, friends, activities, classes, and homework. All of these activities
however, add up to a busy life style. Being busy is not in itself harmful but when the busyness
becomes so great that it turns into stress, problems start to arise. The formation of stress leads to many
unhealthy trends, such as lack of sleep, loss of immunity to disease, and a change in personality traits.
How then can stress in the busy lives of college students be reduced? The answer is a simple one that
has long been known; exercise relieves stress. Colleges across the country need to implement a
program of required exercise classes to promote the well being of students.

Those against mandatory exercise say that if students feel it is important to exercise they will create a
program of physical activity on their own and it does not need to be a part of the school. The problem
with this theory is that the majority of people would stop the program if left on their own without any
sort of accountability. For example, a study was done on several different exercise plans to see what
results would happen over time. First the theoretical approach of self monitoring was used. This
program left individuals to attend exercise sessions on their own without any intervention from others.
The overall observation was that interest in attending and exercising was lost after about four weeks.
Next the approach of stages of change was used. This program used four different groups. One group
received weekly calls with structured inquiry to see how and when the subjects were personally
exercising. The second group received weekly calls with general inquiries about their exercise habits.
The third group received a call every three weeks with general inquiries of exercise, and the last group
received calls every three weeks with structured inquiries. The results were, that 63% of the subjects
who were called more frequently were regularly exercising as opposed to only the 22% exercising
success rate of those that were called less frequently. Also those called with the structured

A Brief Look at Global Warming
So what actually is global warming? Obviously the name explains it; the globe becoming warmer. But
what does it mean to become warmer ? The sun isn t getting hotter; the world isn t traveling closer to
the sun. Global warming is when rapid moving particles collide more and more with other rapid
moving particles and are trapped by the atmosphere s thick layer of gas molecules. As more heat is
trapped, particles that are in earth s atmosphere collide with each other. As more collisions are present,
the average kinetic energy which is the average speed at which the particles collide with one another
increases therefore the temperature increases which affects many aspects of life.
A predominant factor as to why global warming happens is more gas particles exposed in the air
because of an increase in gases produced by industries. Gases such as CO2 and SO2 are constantly
harming our environment by regularly adding more harmful gasses into our atmosphere. Due to forest
fires, industries, factories, and new found technology such as the car, many harmful gas molecules are
surrounding us. These harmful gas molecules collide with our healthy atmospheric particles which
make the amount of gas particles increase dreadfully. Since more collisions between these different
particles are occurring, the average kinetic energy is raised therefore the temperature increases as well.
As more particles are added into the atmosphere, it becomes denser and gasses are getting trapped into

A Knight s Tale Heros Journey
Despite what comic books, television, and movies may have you believe, the hero is not a new
concept to this world. From the ancient times of Hercules, to the modern blockbuster movies of this
very summer, the hero has always been a part of human existence. However, every hero will travel
through the same life changing journey regardless of their orientation. This journey comprises of three
multi step stages that are named departure, initiation, and return. The film A Knight s Tale is such a
heroic story, and has a great emphasis of a hero s journey.
Usually depicted as the awakening force, a hero s call to adventure represents the beginning of their
journey. In the movie, William s call to adventure, and the first step on his heroic journey, occurs when
one of his long time companions, Sir Ector, dies during an unfortunate duel with his jousting
opponent. William takes advantage of the situation and decides to finish the jousting match by posing
as his fallen master. This represents the call to adventure because the death of Sir Ector granted
William the opportunity to test his might in jousting, which kick started his quest to becoming a knight
and changing his stars. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Monetary Policies And Monetary Policy
Monetary Policies (Introduction)
The objective of monetary policy is to reserve the worth of the money by keeping inflation low, stable
and predictable that lets Canadians be more confident about the spending and investment choices. It
reassures long term investment in Canada s economy as well as contributes to continuous job creation
and better the production. It helps improve living standard. Canada s monetary policy outline consists
of two key components working together and reinforcing each other: the inflation control target and
the flexible exchange rate. The inflation control target directs the decisions of the Bank regarding the
proper setting of the policy interest rate that maintains a stable price environment throughout the
medium term.
Influencing Short Term Interest Rates As to reach the inflation target, the banks have to make changes
in the policy rate by raising or lowering it. If inflation is beyond target, the banks will have to increase
the policy rate, this inspires institutions to increase interest rates on the loan and mortgages.
Discouraging borrowing and spending which enables upward pressure on price. If inflation is under
the goal, banks will lower the policy rate which would then encourage financial institutions to lower
interest rates on the loans and mortgages. This information shows how much banks are concerned

The Wasp Factory Essay
A Gothic horror story of quite exceptional quality...macabre, bizarre and...quite impossible to put
down.
The above quote is the response of the Financial Times to the best selling novel, The Wasp Factory ,
and in my opinion, truer words were never spoken. I myself had to force the book out of my hands in
the early hours of the morning on several occasions. This clearly says something about the sheer
power of Iain Bank s debut novel. Whether you love it or hate it, once you have read the first page you
are instantly struck by it s brilliance. Throughout this essay, I intend to explore the mind and
characteristics of the main character, Frank Cauldhame.
Throughout the story, Frank s character is brought out through his experiences, of ... Show more

He in fact likes his brother, and got on well with him, so you may ask why then did he feel the need to
dispose of his brother. Well, according to Frank, the main reason that he and his brother always got on
so well was because he knew from an early age that he was not long for this world, so Frank had tried
to make his time as enjoyable as possible. Paul is killed by a German bomb that was uncovered by a
powerful storm the night before Paul met his tragic end. However, right up to the end, Frank is very
kind to Paul. His death is quick and painless. Frank tells Paul that the bomb is a bell, and if he hits it
hard enough, a sound will come out. So, Frank runs to the top of a nearby dune, Paul hits the bomb, it
explodes, and Frank s murder tally rises to two. Frank s main reason for killing his brother at this time
is that he feels that finding the bomb is not only an opportunity, it is a symbol, a sign that he must
obey.
So now to Franks third and final murder, that of cousin Esmerelda. The reason that Esmerelda dies
could be seen as petty by many people, but to Frank, it is valid. Frank kills Esmerelda because she is a
girl. He feels that, since he has already killed two boys, he owes it to the world to balance it out a bit,
and Esmerelda is the unfortunate female that has been chosen to be disposed of. The most interesting
detail about the murders that Frank has committed is that he

Preppers Vs Survivalists
Is There Any Such Thing as a Typical Prepper Or Survivalist ? The news media likes the sensational,
and so they splash headlines like Preppers arrested because they were preparing for Martial Law . The
headline was not even close to the truth, but once the toothpaste is out of the tube and all that. Certain
people it seems need to label other people, pigeon hole them if you will, and they typically do this
with those they do not understand. Many also assume a Prepper and a survivalist are one and the
same. You can be a survivalist and a Prepper, or just a Prepper or just a survivalist. They really are
different, but to survive in today s world you will likely have to blend the two, and become one. A
Preppervivalist may be a good name Typically, a survivalist focuses on skills usually wilderness
survival skills, but some do call themselves urban survivalist these days as well. Those that have not
taken the time to understand may assume a survivalist is someone who is hunkered down in a bunker
somewhere, and is eating spam from the can without a fork. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Importance Of Population Differences
Geographers have different factors to focus on when trying to understand why there are differences in
the world s population. Crude birth rate, crude death rate, natural increase rate, life expectancy and so
on. Each of those are methods used by geographers to measure population. Geographers should not
only look at those methods when trying to figure out the population differences. Some social factors
like the economy, culture, lifestyle and the government contributes in the differences in population.
Crude birth rate and life expectancy are the two most important indicators that can help a geographer
understand why is there differences in the population.
Crude birth rate is an immensely important factor because not in all courtiers a woman is having up to
seven children. According to statista Niger is a country with the highest crude birth rate because
women are estimated to have 6.76 children per women. However, China has the largest population in
the world and in the Washington post it states that China allows couples to only have two children. It
is also mentioned that although the government allows couples to have two children most people only
have one child. People in China prefer to just have one child because is extremely costly. In the
Washington post it indicates that to prepare a child to succeed in the country s competitive schools and
workplaces, parents must invest lots of time and money in a child for schooling, extracurricular
activities, and outside tutoring, often for college entrance and English proficiency exams . This type of
factors makes the difference in population. The economy is not the same around the world and in the
countries that are poor women do not health care and that means they can not be put on birth control.
Crude birth rate explains why some countries population is bigger than others. If women in some
countries are having 5 and more children the population is going be higher than in countries that
women are having one child. In this case, China can not be included because although you are allowed
to just have two children, China was already over populated and had to come up with the one child
policy. I believe that if China stick to just having one child and Niger s

Ivan Niven s Proof Of Pi Being Irrational
Ivan Niven s Proof of Pi Being Irrational The proof of pi being irrational can be done by contradiction.
To do this, Niven first assumed that π =a / b, for relatively prime integers, a and b. He then created a
polynomial function of power 2n that depends on the constant a and b. Next, define the polynomial for
a constant integer n, which Ivan Niven used in his proof:
This function f(x) has properties that are required in proving that pi is irrational. One property is that
when f(x) =0; then f(x) = f(π x) : For the polynomial n!f(x) = xn(a bx)n, the term (a bx)n can be
expanded into a new polynomial with integer coefficients ranging from power 0 to n using the
binomial theorem. Each of these terms get multiplied by the term xn. Thus, ... Show more content on

Lastly, Niven showed how the integral of f(x) sin(x) cannot always be an integer for all n values.
Since sin(x) is always bounded between 0 and 1 when x is bounded between 0 and π, it can be stated
that f(x) sin(x) f(x). Niven used what he has stated before: f(x) = xn(a bx)n/n!, and showed how that (a
bx) a when x is bounded between 0 and π. From this Niven stated that must be a smaller value than
(a)n. Similarly, when x is bounded between 0 and π, the term xn must be between 0 and πn. Niven
took all of these properties and functions and stated

In Communities of Resistance and Solidarity, as well as in A Feminist Ethic of Risk, Sharon D. Welch

How effective are Foucault s methods, never intended for practical use, for Welch s liberation
theology? The purpose of this paper is to examine these questions and the accuracy of Welch s
treatment of Foucault s concepts by exploring the relevant works of Sharon Welch and the works of
Foucault referenced therein.
In Communities of Resistance and Solidarity, Welch presents an adamant argument for the similarities
between the work of Michel Foucault and the work of liberation theologians before her. Welch claims
not only to possess Foucault s suspicious awareness, or skepticism, as she refers to it, but also claims
its absolute necessity for her theology (85). She attempts to be true to Foucault s methods: skepticism
is the engine for the vehicle of continuing analyses. However, Welch fails to acknowledge the radical
nature of Foucault s concept of skepticism, as opposed to the concept she utilizes for her theology.
Foucault s is a drastic suspicion, a total and continuous skepticism which repeatedly serves as an
alarm to the genealogist. Its purpose is to make the scholar cognizant of the undeniable link between
power and knowledge. It is a reminder that there exists no absolute Truth on which a discourse
confidently may be established. In Madness and Civilization: A History of Insanity in the Age of
Reason, Foucault traces the history of what is deemed the liberation of the insane in a manner which
supports this theory. He documents the work of Pinel and

The Aging Process And Key Diseases Associated With Aging
This paper will discuss the relationship between the aging process and key diseases associated with
aging. Examples of aging associated diseases include cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and
neurodegenerative diseases (López Otín, Blasco, Partridge, Serrano, Kroemer, 2013, p. 1194). Of
these, we will discuss in depth recent studies that have linked aging with Alzheimer s disease,
cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. These diseases affect a significant proportion of the population
over the age of 65 and place a considerable burden on the American health care system. Therefore, a
better understanding of how they are related to aging and each other can result in the adoption of
innovative treatments and declined risk for older adults. In order to better understand aging associated
diseases, it is first necessary to define what aging is. Aging is a complex, multifactorial process of
harmful mutations in cells and tissues that are accumulated over time and result in an increased risk of
disease and, eventually, death (Tosato, Zamboni, Ferrini, Cesari, 2007, p. 401). Contrary to the belief
that aging can be cured through medical advances, it is scientifically accepted that, while human life
expectancy has increased, the human life span has remained largely unchanged for the past 100,000
years (Tosato et al., p. 401). Therefore, future developments in aging research ought to focus on
addressing treatment and prevention of major aging associated diseases that will

Essay on Poverty and Common Mental Disorders in Developing...
The two most striking take home messages from this paper are: common mental disorders should be
looked at on par with other diseases associated with poverty (like tuberculosis); treatment and
prevention of mental diseases should involve confronting poverty and economic development, apart
from the medical interventions. The rest of the paper provides a discussion of the evidence backing
these points and the ways in which they can be implemented. These conclusions and the reasons why
they are remarkable are discussed in this critique.
This is a review of 11 community studies on the association between poverty and common mental
disorders in six low and middle income countries published in English language journals since 1990
and three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, they qualify this statement, maintaining that this is not a final conclusion since the review
contained a small number of studies, none of them longitudinal.
The first important implication this paper emphasizes is that there is a strong need for mental diseases
to be looked at on par with other diseases associated with poverty. There is no doubt today that mental
disorders form a significant public health burden (WHO report, 2001). One category of mental illness
unipolar depressive disorders is placed third among leading causes of burden of disease in terms of
Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) globally (Global Burden of Disease, WHO, 2004). This is
more than that for ischemic heart diseases or even HIV/AIDS. Yet, there is a big discrepancy between
the magnitude of mental illness burden (especially in low and middle income countries) and the
resources devoted to addressing it (Tomlinson, 2009). At the root of this issue is the stigma associated
with mental illness. Public stigma and internalized stigma (negative attitudes held by stigmatized
individuals about themselves) associated with having a mental illness negatively affect a person s
attitude and intentions toward seeking mental health services (Conner, 2010). Stigma also affects the
way policy makers and donors perceive the need to allocate funds and resources to a cause. If
common mental disorders are viewed

G Methamphetamine On The Navajo Nation Essay
In the recent decades, advanced medical technology and research has made clear the dangers of illegal
and recreational drug use. However, although the ways in which substance abuse can negatively
impact an individual s mental and physical health are widely understood, the repercussions of drug use
at the community level are rarely discussed. Through sharing personal accounts and experiences of
individuals who have been directly involved with marijuana use in one aspect or another, the 2004
film G Methamphetamine on the Navajo Nation helps to shed light on the devastating effects that
substance abuse within a community can pose for the population at large such as increased violence
and neglect. Because of the way in which they can alter an individual s ... Show more content on

Drugs like methamphetamine are extremely addictive and likewise can quickly put users into a state of
drug addiction characterized by uncontrollable and compulsive drug seeking and use (Estrada,
3/29/17). Thus, even though these individuals often do not have the intention of causing harm to
others, the lack of self control and rational thinking that accompanies drug use can negatively impact
the entire community in a powerful way. To be specific, Dr. Thomas Drouhard, a general surgeon in
Tuba City, discusses the increased violence associated with meth use among American Indians within
the film. He shares that out of all the patients he examines, every other trauma, every other stab
wound, and every other assault is related to meth (00:19:02 00:19:10). As his account suggests, the
impaired cognitive abilities and irritability of meth users can cause them to be quick to anger and lash
out violently bringing harm to shocking numbers of innocent people. This type of behavior decreases

The Importance Of Communication In Speaking In Tongues By...
After its birth, glass becomes one kind of useful material in people s physical life. It has one unique
nature that, after some little modifications, it can be qualified to accomplish totally different tasks, for
example serving as windows and mirrors, to benefit the people who use it. Meanwhile, towards people
s mental experience, the communication is similar to glass in nature, and plays the same role. In such a
modern and pluralistic society, the accelerating pace of life and the increasing amount of information
bombardment people s brains; The high frequency of contacts with internet, which is an infinite
source of knowledge, also exhausts their time to think over themselves and then makes them easily to
become a pollyanna, which means the people who keep blind optimism without a certain life
direction. Whatever online or offline, the communication, which is the most important and common
way people have interactions between each other, plays an essential role that improve people s
identities and avoiding the astray of life. Sherry Turkle, the writer of Reclaiming Conversation ,
expresses her ideas in the Empathy Diaries that the conversation, especially the face to face
conversation, is essential for children s development of the skill of social communication.
Furthermore, Zadie Smith, the writer of Speaking in Tongues , expresses the idea with deeper
meaning, which not only shows the function of communication, but also indicates tongue s influence

Persuasive Essay About False Confessions
Almost everyone who has seen a cop television show or movie has heard the saying You have the right
to remain silent . In America, people are raised to believe that the justice system never fails, and that
no matter what happens justice will always prevail, though for some people this safety net has failed
them. Since the late 1980s six studies have documented 250 interrogation induced false confessions.
Police induced false confessions are the result of multistep process and sequence of influence,
persuasion, and compliance. Imagine that a solider of the U.S. military is brought in for questioning,
kept locked up for sixteen hours in an interrogation room, constantly threatened with the death penalty
if they did not confess to the crime, and the whole time left without representation. In 1997 this was
the case for four individuals from Norfolk, Virginia held without representation and forced to give
false confessions. On July 8, 1997, William Bosko, an enlisted sailor returns home from a week at sea
to find his wife Michelle Moore Bosko gruesomely murdered in their apartment. Detectives interview
family, friends and neighbors of the couple before asking their next door neighbor Danial Williams to
come in for questioning. Danial Williams is interrogated for the next 11 hours by detectives Maureen
Evans and Robert Glenn Ford before confessing to the murder of Michelle Bosko. Even though
neither his story of what happened, or his DNA matched the evidence that the police had

  • 2. The Risks And The Management Of Adolescents With Eating... In July, 2014 an education article was written by Michael W. Roberts, DDS, MScD and Travis M. Hicks, DDS, MS called Warning Signs . Both show similar research interests in the risks and the management of adolescents with eating disorders. The funding provided was supplied by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. The ultimate goal of this research was to educate dental professionals on anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa and how to identify the predisposing factors. To begin, Hicks and Roberts start off by start off by telling us that statistically speaking anorexia and bulimia are serious medical conditions that most commonly effect adolescents and young adults. In 2014, 70 million people worldwide showed clinical signs and symptoms of eating disorders out of that 70 million people, 24 million accounted for the United States alone. Both men and women are affected by these eating disorders, but is seen more predominately in women struggling with inner body issues. As an example in Western cultures, the success that you achieve is obtained by how attractive and thin a person is perceived to be by others. Both disorders are classified as psychosocial disorders which as both Hicks and Robert explain is a link between how each individual person perceives themselves when they connected food with their bodies. These specific types of psychosocial disorders gives a person a distorted view on eating behavior and habits that are unhealthy and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Write Your Own Rock Song In most instances, a listener strives to find a song that is simultaneously culturally and socially conscious, while having a listenability that allows the song to be played at any time or any place. For the above song, I took a pointedly socially and culturally approach to the socioeconomic inequalities that persist in the United States, using subtle and themes of freedom and hardship, while concurrently using the not so subtle theme of class differences to convey the differences between social classes in our society. The lyrics provide the potential listener with a juxtaposition of someone who invariably questions their place in society in comparison with an individual who seems to have everything they could ever need or want, hence the inclusion of (Mercedes) Benz in the second verse. The lyrics are written in simple verse form and intentionally have the last two lines of the first verse rhyming with each other, as well as the first two lines of the second verse rhyming with one another. The rhyming is meant to emphasis the restraints that lower class people have in terms of social mobility and the freedom those in upper classes enjoy on a daily basis. The end and Benz creates a slant rhyme that resembles the perpetual cycle of poverty in contrast with someone who is sad about their luxury car being out of commission. Given the form of the lyrics and their social connections, the options for music selection and instrumentation varied across genre and sound. For the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Merriam-Webster Definition Of Cosmogony The Merriam Webster definition of cosmogony is: a theory of the origin of the universe. Now this seems simple. As long as there have been humans on Earth we have looked back to find some meaning to our existence. The simple fact is that we are a forever curious species, and we are driven by a need to understand the world around us. However, for most of our history, we have lacked the means of observing enough of space to truly understand our origins, so we created gods to explain things we couldn t understand. As our understanding of the universe changed, so, too, did these gods. The Enlightenment in the Modern era was the first time that God was brought into question. The Church had too much power, people wanted freedom, and religion was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Standing For The National Anthem Analysis Standing for the National Anthem First a little background on the national anthem. The song itself was written to commemorate a military victory when we withstood a British attack and Old Glory continued to wave over the battered fort during the War of 1812. In 1931 Congress officially decided listeners should stand when The Star Spangled Banner is played. Congress also gave suggestions for the behavior of people listening to the song. Which is basically to stand at attention, hand over your heart, and men should remove their hats and hold them over their heart. (Dempsey, Martin). So even Congress believes that is what a person should do, but so they would not be in violation of 1st Amendment rights, they only recommended it, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So why would people stand for the anthem of a country that we know very little about, they may be oppressive to people of color too. We do it to show the world we are respectful people, and it is their anthem, whether we agree with the things they do, we should be respectful of that country and the people competing in the Olympics. All countries have some problems, and some people may not be treated unfairly, but we are not the ones to disrespect them during an Olympic performance. Too many times things are blown out of proportion through the media, so I would not disrespect someone because of something I saw or heard on the radio or television. Unless you are there you do not know all the facts of a situation. The only way we can make a difference is be there for each other and show our respect for this great country by standing for the national anthem. Respect is the one thing you can give freely and is always appreciated. You are telling the world that out of respect you are standing. Respect for a country that is united in times of need, free, and democratic. Just as you show elder people respect by being there for them. We are there for our country. The flag is a symbol of freedom, the song was written to commemorate an outstanding military victory, where we worked together and stood united to defend our country. So really standing during the song is not really too much to ask. It is done out of respect for a nation that has given so many so much. Remember when you are standing and listening to that anthem the many people that have lost their lives for that flag and as long as we stay united, then the bonds of this country become stronger. So show your respect for our country, our flag, our anthem and the world will see how truly strong this nation really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of O Pioneers By Willa Cather O Pioneers by Willa Cather sets itself apart from other novels of its time because of what its stands for, feminism. It exemplifies women s equality, represented by the main character, Alexandra, by showing her survival in a male dominated society. She succeeded in building her female identity and achieved a sense of female attainment by revolutionizing the wild land and struggling for her equal rights with all that surrounded her. This paper focuses on the feminist thoughts and the positive attitude of the image of the strong character Alexandra, who was independent, brave, and optimistic. A spirit like hers, of strength and courage, insisted that she would never be defeated by man or nature. The novel begins be explaining the small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After Alexandra s father, John Bergeson became sick he knew that she would have to be the one in charge of their land. His two older sons were hard workers but knew nothing in comparison to Alexandra when it came down to the logistics of the farm. John even stated the boys were not as half intelligent as their sister (Cather, 1987, p. 76). John s dying wishes were to keep the land going and to never leave even when times were tough and that is exactly what Alexandra did. By leaving Alexandra in charge of the land Cather is showing her beliefs that women are beyond capable of being in charge and making decisions without men. She built her own empire by turning the untamed land into prosperous country side and she became one of the most successful farmers on the divide even after a long sixteen year struggle. Alexandra dealt with criticism not only from other farmers but even from her own brother s. Lou turned to his brother. This is what comes of letting a woman meddle in business, he said bitterly. We ought to have taken things in our own hands years ago. But she liked to run things, and we humored her (Cather). She only wanted the best for their family and to respect her father s wishes but her own brother s doubted her time and time again. Even though she did not have full support of her family she knew that she was going to stay on their land and that they would eventually begin to prosper again. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of Dragon s Village, Things Fall Apart, And... In Africa and throughout the world, many countries have been forced to undergo the plight of colonial rule. Along with this, comes varying external impacts which severely alter the cultural, political, social, and personal identity of a country both during and long after the Colonial Era. The evidence of these established changes can be found in the novels; Dragon s Village, Things Fall Apart, and Man of the People surrounding China and Africa. Along with Deepa Mehta s period films, Earth and Water and Iciar Bollain s juxtaposition piece, Even the Rain that emphasize the circumstances that occurred in India and Bolivia. A master at providing alternative context to Africa and concepts of decolonization, Chinua Achebe wrote a great amount of literary work, including, Things Fall Apart (1956) and A Man of the People (1966). The first novel, occurring both before and during Nigeria s neo colonial period, depicts the relationship between Okonkwo and his Igbo tribe in Umuofia. With an identity heavily dependent on his social status and structure, Achebe s protagonist communicates his extreme distaste for the entrance of European colonizers: Okonkwo was well known throughout the nine villages and even beyond. His fame rested on solid personal achievements. As a young man of eighteen he had brought honor to his village by throwing Amalinze the Cat. Amalinze was the great wrestler who for seven years was unbeaten, from Umuofia to Mbaino. (1.1) However, at the same time he mistakes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The, The Irresistible Pull Of Irrational Behavior, By Ori... Have you ever made a decision and later completely wonder why it is you made that decision? Sway The Irresistible Pull of Irrational Behavior by Ori Brafman and Rom Brafman examine moments of our lives where we could easily be swayed. The Brafmans discuss topics like commitment and value attribution. With examples of what attracts us into making a bad decision. The brilliant authors make it easy to understand the analyzations of the situations. Where there is a possibility of being swayed. With proper analyzation we can prevent these situations from taking place again. Almost everyone has made a decision we misunderstand and behind that decision is an irresistible pull of irrational behavior. No one is perfect, and no one can avoid being swayed into an irrational situation, not even me. Commitment can be tricky sometimes. Especially when the thing you are committing to ends up resulting in a loss instead of a gain. The Brafmans captured the feeling of the moment when you have lost. At this point it becomes clear to each of the participants that he or she isn t the only one with the brilliant idea of winning the twenty bucks for cheap. There is a collective hard swallow (31). The worst is when you re taking on a loss of an idea so heavily believed in. I ended up switching majors because of constant loss of creativity. My initial major was graphic design. • 9. Interpersonal Conflict Resolution And Mediation Interpersonal Conflict Resolution and Mediation Conflict is a problematic situation that occurs between interdependent people who seek different goals or means to those goals. Conflict is inevitable as relationships become closer, more personal, and more interdependent, more conflicts occur, perceived trivial or minor complaints become more significant, and feelings become more intense. Conflict has many definitions (opposing viewpoints, when opponents engage in battle, going against one another in some fashion, incompatibility between the objectives of two or more characters or forces) and approaches (avoiding, accommodating, competing, collaborating, compromising). Interpersonal conflict is the disagreement between two people in respect to values and attitudes that leads to resentment. Definitions tend to imply that conflict is not a beneficial behavior in which to engage. However, proactively addressing conflict via mediation has been known to restore peace, enhance relationships, and bring cohesiveness to an otherwise divided team. In the study of conflict, one soon realizes that the workplace is often the perfect setting for conflict to occur. According to Wilmot and Hocker (2001), when assessing even a seemingly small interpersonal conflict, one can benefit from a careful and objective assessment. In many situations involving conflict, one party often has a significant amount of power over the other, resulting in an advantageous situation for the stronger party. This ... Sociological Concepts In Sicko Sicko, a documentary film by Michael Moore, describes the medical issue in which many people who live in the United States have to suffer their sickness due to the high treatment costs. Many people in the U.S. do not have health insurance because they can afford for that. However, not only people that do not have health insurance but also the people who have health insurance struggle for health care coverage when they have an illness. Moreover, compared to other countries such as Canada, England, France and Cuba, American health care system is extreme complicated and extremely expensive. That small mistakes or lack information is hard to avoid will be the reason for rescission. The film shows that insurance company have thousands of reasons to refuse to provide coverage. The medical issues can be explained by the features of capitalism in the United States. Capitalism is considered as an economic system based on production for profit. While patients in Canada, England, and France receive free health care and many free services from the government, people living in the United States has to pay a lot money for those services from their pockets. • 11. Punishment In Crime And Punishment Without suffering, there is no hope of achieving redemption. This idea is straightforward; no one consistently achieves what they want without struggling in some shape or form in order to get it, and redemption is the goal in this case. Dostoyevsky brings this religiously based concept into his novel Crime and Punishment to show his readers how suffering is not only unavoidable but also a means of achieving something. In Crime and Punishment, A Russian man known as Raskolnikov murders an old pawnbroker and her younger sister. The work progresses to show that the motivation behind the murder is, among other things, to test a theory that Raskolnikov has about what kind of man he is. After an extensive series of subplots and nearly insane moral arguments with himself and those around him, Raskolnikov turns himself in and finds religion and redemption in a Siberian labor prison. His nihilistic ideas developed from his educational background and St. Petersburg s intellectual revolution steer the protagonist in the direction of the murder, but his inherent morality and his labor camp prison s religious tendencies push him towards the moment of spiritual rebirth that becomes the true meaning of the work. In addition to including the world around him and his own life events throughout the piece, Dostoyevsky fills Crime and Punishment with juxtaposition of characters, irony, and foreshadowing in order to present the importance of suffering and hard labor as the only means to ... Malvolio and the Way he is Treated in William Shakespeare s The Twelfth Night Malvolio is an extremely complicated and difficult character to study because of his mixed, complex personality. At times in the play he seems very reliable and loyal but sometimes he seems foolish and weak, and in many scenes in the play the audience are encouraged to laugh at him, his actions or his words. He is not portrayed as a lovable character, which makes the play funnier. Also, the way that Malvolio seems humourless actually makes him humorous. Malvolio seems very proud and pleased to be telling Viola/Cesario that Olivia does not want him to bring messages from Orsino any more. Of course he does not realise that the implications of this message are actually the complete opposite! He says: And one thing more, that you never be so hardy to come again in his affairs, unless it be to report your lord s taking of this. (Lines 8 10) Malvolio is then rude and selfish to Viola/Cesario because he obviously feels that he is more important than him. Instead of handing Viola/Cesario the ring, he throws it onto the floor. In the next scene, Act II Scene 3 Sir Toby and Sir Andrew are drinking, they persuade Feste to sing for them but Maria is wary and warns them of the trouble they could be in. All of these activities however, add up to a busy life style. Being busy is not in itself harmful but when the busyness becomes so great that it turns into stress, problems start to arise. The formation of stress leads to many unhealthy trends, such as lack of sleep, loss of immunity to disease, and a change in personality traits. How then can stress in the busy lives of college students be reduced? The answer is a simple one that has long been known; exercise relieves stress. Those against mandatory exercise say that if students feel it is important to exercise they will create a program of physical activity on their own and it does not need to be a part of the school. The problem with this theory is that the majority of people would stop the program if left on their own without any sort of accountability. For example, a study was done on several different exercise plans to see what results would happen over time. First the theoretical approach of self monitoring was used. This program left individuals to attend exercise sessions on their own without any intervention from others. The overall observation was that interest in attending and exercising was lost after about four weeks. Next the approach of stages of change was used. This program used four different groups. One group received weekly calls with structured inquiry to see how and when the subjects were personally exercising. The second group received weekly calls with general inquiries about their exercise habits. The third group received a call every three weeks with general inquiries of exercise, and the last group received calls every three weeks with structured inquiries. The results were, that 63% of the subjects who were called more frequently were regularly exercising as opposed to only the 22% exercising success rate of those that were called less frequently. • 18. A Brief Look at Global Warming So what actually is global warming? Obviously the name explains it; the globe becoming warmer. But what does it mean to become warmer ? The sun isn t getting hotter; the world isn t traveling closer to the sun. Global warming is when rapid moving particles collide more and more with other rapid moving particles and are trapped by the atmosphere s thick layer of gas molecules. As more heat is trapped, particles that are in earth s atmosphere collide with each other. As more collisions are present, the average kinetic energy which is the average speed at which the particles collide with one another increases therefore the temperature increases which affects many aspects of life. A predominant factor as to why global warming happens is more gas particles exposed in the air because of an increase in gases produced by industries. Gases such as CO2 and SO2 are constantly harming our environment by regularly adding more harmful gasses into our atmosphere. Due to forest fires, industries, factories, and new found technology such as the car, many harmful gas molecules are surrounding us. These harmful gas molecules collide with our healthy atmospheric particles which make the amount of gas particles increase dreadfully. Since more collisions between these different particles are occurring, the average kinetic energy is raised therefore the temperature increases as well. As more particles are added into the atmosphere, it becomes denser and gasses are getting trapped into our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Monetary Policies And Monetary Policy Monetary Policies (Introduction) The objective of monetary policy is to reserve the worth of the money by keeping inflation low, stable and predictable that lets Canadians be more confident about the spending and investment choices. It reassures long term investment in Canada s economy as well as contributes to continuous job creation and better the production. It helps improve living standard. Canada s monetary policy outline consists of two key components working together and reinforcing each other: the inflation control target and the flexible exchange rate. The inflation control target directs the decisions of the Bank regarding the proper setting of the policy interest rate that maintains a stable price environment throughout the medium term. Influencing Short Term Interest Rates As to reach the inflation target, the banks have to make changes in the policy rate by raising or lowering it. If inflation is beyond target, the banks will have to increase the policy rate, this inspires institutions to increase interest rates on the loan and mortgages. Discouraging borrowing and spending which enables upward pressure on price. If inflation is under the goal, banks will lower the policy rate which would then encourage financial institutions to lower interest rates on the loans and mortgages. This information shows how much banks are concerned about inflation going higher or lower in terms of the goal. The key policy interest rates are when banks expect to be used in ... Paul is killed by a German bomb that was uncovered by a powerful storm the night before Paul met his tragic end. However, right up to the end, Frank is very kind to Paul. Crude birth rate, crude death rate, natural increase rate, life expectancy and so on. Each of those are methods used by geographers to measure population. Geographers should not only look at those methods when trying to figure out the population differences. Some social factors like the economy, culture, lifestyle and the government contributes in the differences in population. Crude birth rate and life expectancy are the two most important indicators that can help a geographer understand why is there differences in the population. Crude birth rate is an immensely important factor because not in all courtiers a woman is having up to seven children. According to statista Niger is a country with the highest crude birth rate because women are estimated to have 6.76 children per women. However, China has the largest population in the world and in the Washington post it states that China allows couples to only have two children. It is also mentioned that although the government allows couples to have two children most people only have one child. People in China prefer to just have one child because is extremely costly. In the Washington post it indicates that to prepare a child to succeed in the country s competitive schools and workplaces, parents must invest lots of time and money in a child for schooling, extracurricular activities, and outside tutoring, often for college entrance and English proficiency exams . This type of factors makes the difference in population. The economy is not the same around the world and in the countries that are poor women do not health care and that means they can not be put on birth control. Crude birth rate explains why some countries population is bigger than others. If women in some countries are having 5 and more children the population is going be higher than in countries that women are having one child. • 28. Ivan Niven s Proof Of Pi Being Irrational Ivan Niven s Proof of Pi Being Irrational The proof of pi being irrational can be done by contradiction. To do this, Niven first assumed that π =a / b, for relatively prime integers, a and b. He then created a polynomial function of power 2n that depends on the constant a and b. Next, define the polynomial for a constant integer n, which Ivan Niven used in his proof: This function f(x) has properties that are required in proving that pi is irrational. One property is that when f(x) =0; then f(x) = f(π x) : For the polynomial n!f(x) = xn(a bx)n, the term (a bx)n can be expanded into a new polynomial with integer coefficients ranging from power 0 to n using the binomial theorem. • 30. The Aging Process And Key Diseases Associated With Aging This paper will discuss the relationship between the aging process and key diseases associated with aging. Examples of aging associated diseases include cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and neurodegenerative diseases (López Otín, Blasco, Partridge, Serrano, Kroemer, 2013, p. 1194). Of these, we will discuss in depth recent studies that have linked aging with Alzheimer s disease, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes. These diseases affect a significant proportion of the population over the age of 65 and place a considerable burden on the American health care system. Therefore, a better understanding of how they are related to aging and each other can result in the adoption of innovative treatments and declined risk for older adults. In order to better understand aging associated diseases, it is first necessary to define what aging is. Aging is a complex, multifactorial process of harmful mutations in cells and tissues that are accumulated over time and result in an increased risk of disease and, eventually, death (Tosato, Zamboni, Ferrini, Cesari, 2007, p. 401). Contrary to the belief that aging can be cured through medical advances, it is scientifically accepted that, while human life expectancy has increased, the human life span has remained largely unchanged for the past 100,000 years (Tosato et al., p. 401). Therefore, future developments in aging research ought to focus on addressing treatment and prevention of major aging associated diseases that will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, they qualify this statement, maintaining that this is not a final conclusion since the review contained a small number of studies, none of them longitudinal. The first important implication this paper emphasizes is that there is a strong need for mental diseases to be looked at on par with other diseases associated with poverty. There is no doubt today that mental disorders form a significant public health burden (WHO report, 2001). One category of mental illness unipolar depressive disorders is placed third among leading causes of burden of disease in terms of Disability Adjusted Life Years (DALYs) globally (Global Burden of Disease, WHO, 2004). This is more than that for ischemic heart diseases or even HIV/AIDS. Yet, there is a big discrepancy between the magnitude of mental illness burden (especially in low and middle income countries) and the resources devoted to addressing it (Tomlinson, 2009). At the root of this issue is the stigma associated with mental illness. Public stigma and internalized stigma (negative attitudes held by stigmatized individuals about themselves) associated with having a mental illness negatively affect a person s attitude and intentions toward seeking mental health services (Conner, 2010). Stigma also affects the way policy makers and donors perceive the need to allocate funds and resources to a cause. If common mental disorders are viewed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
