Writing Using The Music Vocabulary
[Students are writing using the music vocabulary in the written summative unit assessment at the
end of the unit on vocal health. First the students created a list on the white board at the beginning
of the unit of what good sitting and standing posture looks like. The students then wrote a peer
review on a peers review. Student work samples A, B, and C include examples of this peer review
that student performed during lesson one. The students then had to apply the vocabulary to write a
plan for correction for the student. Then in lesson two the students used the vocabulary to describe
their own posture. This assessment of vocabulary was not as effective as in lesson one. Student
work samples A, B, and C include a copy of this self assessment and the students evaluations. Then
once again students demonstrated that they understood the posture vocabulary by writing a
narrative on the final summative assessment for vocal. The students wrote how they would explain
proper singing posture to a new student. Refer to student work samples to see student improvement
in this area between the pre and post test. The students discussed the vocal anatomy involved in
vocal production at the end of lesson two. They then demonstrated their basic recall knowledge
(Webb s depth of knowledge) on their homework assessment for lesson two. In this assessment the
students had to draw and label the section of the body used in resonation, phonation, respiration,

Women On The Front Line
Society has built a stereotype that says women are inherently weaker than men. This has limited
women s chances to get ahead, but people are not standing idly by instead they are pushing for
women to get equal opportunity. Some of these advancements are that women now have the right
to vote, to own their property, and get jobs. However, not all jobs are available to women such as
combat positions in the military. Combat positions or chances on the front line are unavailable to
women because they are depicted as fragile and in need of protection. Women deserve the
opportunity to try to gain their placement on the front line because women can be just as strong as
men and they are willing to fight. The military is denying women the opportunity

The Potentinal for Ozone in BTEX-Contaminated Sites
Ozone is a highly oxidative chemical known to be capable of degrading many types of organic
contaminants, including both chemicals and organisms. It is known in the grain industry to be
useful for disinfecting cereals without affecting quality of the cereal. This includes microbial
inactivation, killing pests, degrading certain pesticides and fungicides, and mycotoxins (Tiwari et
al. 2010). Ozone also has an important role in the treatment of wastewater for similar reasons. It is
used in the treatment train at both the Alfred Merritt Smith and River Mountains treatment plants
in Las Vegas (SNWA 2014). The ozonation processes in these plants kill off bacteria and
microorganisms by bubbling ozone into the wastewater. As ozone dissipates within several minutes,
no residue is left after treatment, though certain disinfection byproducts can potentially be formed
depending on the constituents in the wastewater, and the placement of ozonation in the treatment
train (Gerrity et al. 2010). Certain organic contaminants of interest, including ___, tend to have long
half lives and low water solubility, which can make traditional and natural forms of remediation
ineffective. The past decade has shown that ozone can be used in the remediation of contaminated
soils, primarily by in situ ozonation systems. As mentioned previously, ozone is an unstable
chemical that has a half life of around two minutes (Dey, Rosenwinkel, Wheeler 2002). In the
process of oxidation, ozone reacts with

Differentiating Between Market Structures
The airline industry is a competitive market in society today. It is a perfect example of an
oligopoly market structure because it is highly concentrated. There are many large players within
the industry but only a few that determine the market prices like JetBlue. According to CNN Travel

American airlines.

JetBlue is only one organization out of many that have a direct impact on the prices of airlines

overall experience to better accommodate the travelers. When an organization has competition like
American Airlines or United Airlines it must find ways for it to stand out above the rest. Many
consumers think having a cheaper flight makes it the best flight but that is not always the case.
Regardless, the oligopoly in the airline industry is fierce and here to stay for a while.

How Social Policy And How It Has Had On Children And Their...
For the purpose of this essay I am going to be discussing how social policy and legislation with
regards to poverty in the UK has evolved and the effect it has had on children and their families.
There are 3.5 million children living in poverty in the UK today, 27 per cent of children
(Department for Work and Pensions, 2013). According to Mayer (1997), poor homes tend to have
overcrowding, lack electrical outlets and less likely to have central heating. The level of cognitive
stimulation is another element, which can be affected by lack of financial resources and poverty
(Guo Harris, 2000). This essay will now focus on five key acts these are; the poor law, National
assistance act, the Sure Start programme, the child poverty act... Show more content on

The act introduced a new position named Overseer of the poor. The role of the Overseer of the
poor was to collect the poor rate from property owners, supervise the parish poor house, calculate
the amount of Poor Rate requires for the parish and finally distribute money, clothes or food to the
deprived. The 1601 Act made provision for setting the deprived on work . This did not usually
include housing, but in 1631 there was a workhouse founded in Abingdon. The Poor Law was
amended 1601 providing work or apprenticeships for orphaned children or whose parents could
not provide for them, parents and children were accountable for each other; so deprived elderly
parents were expected be accommodated by their children (Alchin, 2012).
The changes of the industrial revolution led to the development of the towns, increasing the
population leading to the first experience of modern unemployment and the trade cycle. This led
to a rise in poor rates. Due to the poor rates rising amendments to the poor law were introduced in
1834. These included less eligibility; the position of the pauper must be less eligible or less to be
selected than that of the independent employee (Spicker, 2010).
The Poor Law focused mainly on the man who is able bodied by introducing

Asthma And Its Effects On Asthma
Tammy is 17 years old who has been diagnosed with asthma. She has been having trouble
controlling her asthma. Here is information on how she can understand asthma and control it and
also help prevent asthma flare ups.
Asthma is a chronic long term lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways. Asthma causes
periods of wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath and coughing. Coughing usually occurs
at night or early morning, can occur during the day if allergies flares your asthma. The airways
are tubes that carry air into and out of your lungs. People who are diagnosed with asthma have
inflamed airways, inflammation makes the airways swollen and very sensitive. The airways react
strongly to certain inhaled substances, when the airways react the muscles around them tighten.
This causes the airways to narrow and less air is able to flow into the lungs. When the swelling
becomes worse the airways become even narrower. The cells in the airways then make more mucus
than usual. Mucus is a sticky thick liquid that can narrow the airways even more. This is a chain
reaction that can result in asthma symptoms. The symptoms of asthma can happen each time the
airways are inflamed. The symptoms can be mild and go away on their own, or after minimal
treatment with asthma medication. If the symptoms get worse or more intense and get worse you
are having an asthma attack. Asthma attacks are also called flare ups or exacerbations.
The signs and symptoms of asthma: Coughing is often

the late 19th Century, after finding the existing dam and water wheels system supplied
insufficient power to meet the increasing demands of the Barber Paper Mill, mill manager, John
Rolf Barber travelled to England and the US in search of a solution. He eventually located a
manufacturer in Ohio, C. F. Brush, who built and supplied a 100 HP generator which could be
powered by water driven turbines. Barber then built a higher dam downstream from the mill, then
the newly installed dynamo began supplying the mill with electricity via transmission lines
through the woods. In 2015, after including the Barber Mill on Canada s Top 10 Endangered

Anglo Displacement In Othello
AnzaldГєa argues that white males project their own feelings of inadequacies onto the minority
who in turn attempts to reassert himself by oppressing his own women, The Anglo, feeling
inadequate and inferior and powerless, displaces or transfers these feelings to the Chicano by
shaming him (AnzaldГєa 2103). AnzaldГєa is detailing the displacement of oppression that the
Chicano suffers from. A white person who is feeling inadequate, possibly by the Chicano himself,
moves to displace these feelings onto the Chicano through shame. The Anglo shames the Chicano
by making him feel inferior. This displacement does not belong solely to the Chicano but rather all
minorities that pose a threat to the Anglo s ego. This can be illustrated in Othello by the

Boarding School Research Paper
Boarding schools are scary enough for children who speak the same language. Imagine a village,
soldiers come in and take the children, age five and older, away in a wagon. The children arrive at
a school far away from home, family, and culture. Separated according to age and sex, stripped of
their clothes, bathed, and forced to stand still as they get their hair cut, many are crying, terrified of
what is happening. They receive uniforms, and new Christian names, thus stripping them of their
identities. Unfortunately, this is how most Indian children received an introduction to boarding
school. The plan was to use education to assimilate the children into the Christian culture. There is a

success is the fact that twenty two percent of U.S. Indians and one third of British Columbia
Indians live on reservations, showing that silent assimilation with incentives is more successful

The Hobbit Greed
American literature
In The Hobbit we are exposed to a world were the most unanticipated and simple creatures are
expected to fulfill a great destiny or special purpose. These callings are similar to ones we find in
our faith. Throughout the book we see themes of prophecy, the unexpected strength of an underdog,
and corruption through greed which all coincide nicely with Christianity. Tolkien s work not only
retains gods word but he expands on it through the exciting world of a small hobbit named Bilbo.

Visionless Blind Faith in Raymond Carver s Cathedral
Narration is divided into two categories and classifications; those composed by men authors and
those composed by women writers. Narration by a male narrator who employs distancing

example used in the academic journal Raymond Carver, Male and Female Interventions in

narrator and feelings evoked. She states that the first person fiction more readily evokes feelings

very beginning of Cathedral , the absence of a persuasive or convincing style of writing is very
suggestive of the presence of a male narrator through whose eyes the events are seen. The
introduction of the bizarre situation of Cathedral tellingly represents a distancing strategy and
establishes the so called manly distance between the reader and the story narrated by a male

Main reason was due to the fact that its lacked top management support. Therefore it was no
surprise that Baker found the initial meeting to be less than satisfying. This due to the fact that the
selection was put together basically in two methods, first using employee members under those
whom would most likely be most beneficial to the forecasting task force, such as project managers
instead of marketing managers; Special asst. to the VP of Sales rather then the Vice President of

Therefore, such selection should not withhold members from feeling insecure and should freely

Killing Lincoln Is Acclaimed As `` Shocking, And A...
Essay
Killing Lincoln is acclaimed as shocking and a historical thriller. It makes the reader question, Is it
really true? with every turning page. Bill O Reilly claims that everything mentioned is true and
unsanitized, so a whole new story is opened to the audience, such as Booth being funded by the
Confederate states and the Booth family being closely related to the Lincoln family. However, if
everything is true, the question still remains: What is the most significant truth?
Many people may refer to the cold hard facts about Lincoln s assassination as the most significant
because it is something they were never aware of. One may say, I never knew General Lee and
General Grant met before the Civil War! Another might state, I didn t know Robert Todd Lincoln
and John Wilkes Booth loved the same girl! However, personally, I believe that the most important
truth is something far broader than specific facts. The truth: good will triumph over evil.
Killing Lincoln is the story of how Booth killed Lincoln. It is an eerie story, but what makes it
even more chilling is the similarities it has to other historical murders. It is one of the many tales
of good vs evil. Bill O Reilly, the author, relates Jesus death, Caesar s death, and numerous others
to Lincoln s assassination. What they have in common is that though the good guy dies, his
presence lives on. Besides the strange coincidence that Lincoln dies at the same time as Jesus (and

Zero Tolerance In Schools
Sparked by President Bill Clinton s Gun Free Schools Act of 1994, the zero tolerance policy has
discouraged and punished students who hinder learning in schools by fighting, using profane
words, disobeying rules, and bringing drugs, alcohol, and weapons to school. This policy s goal is
to make schools an efficient and safe place to grow and develop cognitively, socially, and
emotionally. Without this conduct, not only would some students behave irrationally, they would
harm fellow peers and make schoola dangerous place to be. It would be difficult for administrators
to discern what is right and wrong if they have the opportunity to be biased or lenient. Zero
tolerancein schools creates a safe learning environment for students without drugs, alcohol, and
weapons present; this policy prepares students for the real world and reduces subjectivity in the
administrators. When a parent drops his or her child off at school each day, the parent assumes
their child will be kept safe by the administration at the school. It is expected by all parents that staff
at schools work hard to keep the learning environment of their student s secure. Lynn nore Chittom

the stigmatic effect of its label, causes Alice to question her identity and purpose in life. The title of
the book graphically illustrates how, despite being the same person, the identity of someone with
Alzheimer s Disease can be forgotten.
After watching dementia turn her vibrant and intelligent grandmother into someone who neither
recognised herself nor her life, Genova was inspired to write Still Alice . The narrative unfolds

Still Alice illustrates the social work dilemma of care versus control and how those in mental
distress struggle to access their rights of choice and participation in decisions. Within mental health,
lack of inclusion usually occurs because the individual is deemed incapable or their choices are
considered poor and pose risk of harm. The author cleverly demonstrates that the mental health
label is enough for Alice to feel compelled to justify her motives to others. Alice s mental health is
predominantly intact and she is able to articulate her wishes, yet Alice has to argue her case and
persuade her doctor that it is safe to prescribe medication. In addition, John, Alice s husband,
assumes that sticking to Alice s preferences is in her best interests. When John contradicts Alice s
request for coffee by stating she ll have tea with lemon , his action undermines Alice s

Mussolini s Economic Policy And The Success Of Benito...
Benito Mussolini seized power in 1922 when he was appointed Prime Minister, following his
infamous March on Rome. Mussolini initially expressed little to no interest in economic matters
once in office and had no coherent economic plan for Italy. Furthermore, as a former socialist, he
disliked capitalism and the free market. However, post 1922, he came to the realization that he
needed a strong economic plan to retain his office as well as to re establish Italy as a major
power. Mussolini, like many other dictators, was not an economist and so none of his policies
were without their downfalls. It can be argued that his most successful policy was the Battle for the
Grain. The aim of this policy was to create national self sufficiency in grain by encouraging farmers
to use more modern machinery and farming... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

many policies that did more harm than good. Such as the Corporate State, much of the handling
of the economy in the Great Depression and autarky as whole. Ultimately, Mussolini s economic
policies in the most part were not a success. Firstly, the Battle for the Grain was aimed to create
self sufficiency in grain so that when war came Italy would not be dependent on foreign imports of
cereals and bread. This was achieved by encouraging farmers to grow grain by providing

Greek And Roman Influences In The Hunger Games, By Suzanne...
The movie or the book the Hunger Games came out with a bang when it first hit theaters or the
shelves of the bookstores. It was dubbed as one of the best films or books to read, interestingly
enough it was a remake of the stories or myths most people heard when they were younger, but
modernized and turned into a collage of all the best roman and Greek stories. Suzanne Collins
brilliantly combined the Greek and Roman influences to make the movie/book unforgettable. By
using stories from the romans and Greeks, to the Greek warriors Suzanne Collins demonstrates
how she really drew inspiration for the book and movie.

Greek hero, Katniss defies an oppressive empire and sparks a revolution. But it s an update with
a twist. Today s Theseus is female, which calls to mind not only modern girl power but also
ancient lore. Not only was the myth of Theseus used to draw inspiration in the creation of the
Hunger Games but Suzanne used Greek warriors to help establish the characters. Katniss would
be most similarly related to the goddess Artemis. In the movie and book Katniss is known for
volunteering to take her sisters place and caring for a younger tribute in the arena, she is
recognized as a strong independent woman. The Goddess Artemis is also known for being a
strong independent woman who was the protector of children. Another one seen would be Cato

Hercules is also known for his un human like strength and because he volunteers to go and help

not a quick one, they were both long and drawn out. Katniss took pity on Cato and the Greek Gods

Peopl My Leadership Model (Mbti)
Week one into this course has been a defining moment in my life. It sets the stage into life as a
more consciously self aware and emotionally intelligent being, and the awareness of others as
equally emotional beings whether or not these others are self aware or not. In it, the MBTI were
taught to which I as at then, tentatively identify my preference as one that is inclined to
Introversion, iNtuition, Feeling and Perceiving (INFP).
Now, I can say with certainty, in the light of what I have learned thus far that I am a
compassionate leader who wants the best out of my followers by minimizing their threat responses.
I am relatively transparent, love my relative importance in comparison to others and love to have
autonomy. Because, I naturally gravitated towards non violent communication base on my MBTI
preference, I tend to extend empathy in my dealing with people and give them the preferences with
which I would like to be given.
This have a side effect, which in my experience appears to paint me as a weak leader who carries
almost all the burden in a sacrificial way just not to offend my subordinates. However, the moment
I then become more assertive and change in my leadership style, I am immediately seen as
threatening and perhaps trigger my followers threat responses. ... Show more content on

Mentally Pampering Students Analysis

American college campuses has changed drastically. More so than ever before, students and
faculty must be extremely careful over their words and actions because of the recent trend of
protecting students from anything that can offend them or cause them discomfort. The young men
and women who are currently attending these institutes of higher learning will be the next

Tocqueville focuses heavily on equality, and at one point he connects equality to the principal
source of beliefs: I see two very clear tendencies in equality: one impels each individual towards
new ways of thinking, while the other would induce him to give up thinking voluntarily
(Tocqueville 492). Tocqueville would not be surprised to see what is happening at institutes of
higher learning today, since it is basically the shift in weight from the former to the latter. While
these students could talk to people who have different ideas in order to gain new perspectives or
strengthen their own, they instead choose to retreat into spaces where they can take comfort by
avoiding uncomfortable topics and protecting their own beliefs. A passage from Judith
Shulevitz s New York Time article In College and Hiding from Scary Ideas gives an effective
example of the modern problem: At one point [a student and sexual assault victim named Emma
Hall] went to the lecture hall... but after a while, she had to return to the safe space. I was feeling
bombarded by a lot of viewpoints that really go against my dearly and closely held beliefs, Ms.
Hall said (Shulevitz 2). Instead of facing the painful situation and ideas that conflicted her own, she
returned to a space where no one would challenge her opinions or make her think of distressing
memories. Correspondingly, Tocqueville makes the remark in Democracy in Americathat One of
the distinctive characteristics of democratic centuries is a taste for easy successes and instant
gratification. This can be seen in intellectual pursuits as well as other areas of life (498). In other
words, people in America sometimes fail to see the big picture they tend to favor

Homelessness in the United States
During the 1980 s the number of homeless people, those without a house in which to reside,
increased at an alarming rate. Many analysts have given much time and thought as to the reasons
that this phenomenon occurred. They cite economic instability and government policies with facts
and figures to support their work. Beyond the research and cold statistics that explain this event, are
the victims, and those that worked to help relieve their hardship. An interview with Philip Guerrieri

Policing And The Policing System
Policing and the way that it operates is a regularly changing system, that develops and adapts
depending on the situations and environment that it is involved in. policing, as a whole is a
function that is dependent on legislations and laws brought in by the English legal system. with
each new piece of legislation comes new policies, procedures and systems that change the way that
the policeare able to function. Throughout this discussion, you will be able to see an analysis of
how the policing system operated when it was first introduced, how it has affected the general
population since it was established and how society has reacted to the changes that have been
developed and implemented forthcoming to modern day.
The policing system began in the 1700s when various forms of policing began to pop up around the
country, there were many different variations of keeping the peace and catching criminals that were
implemented, some very different from the police force that we know today.
It originally started off with the introduction of parish constables, of whom assisted with the
enforcement of order and justice within their local communities. More often than not these officers
tended to be English and middle class. Being a parish constable wasn t a full time job however as
all of the officers had other jobs to return to after they had finished their policing term. One article
states that Each parish had a number of constables. Traditionally these were recruited from

Discipline saves time and energy It makes more sense to take action and discipline someone than it
does to waste time and energy thinking about it.
There are five progressive stages of discipline that can be used with individuals and help a team
use its energy more effectively. The process begins with simple communication and then builds in
intensity of action and involvement by the manager until the person acquires the targeted skill or
finds a new job. These progressive stages are designed to help the employee develop into an

Presidents Power to Persuade Essay
Presidents Power to Persuade The president of the United States of America is seen around the
world to be the most powerful man on Earth. However, many believe that his only real power is
the power to persuade. The checks and balances of congress and the Supreme Court over the
president are great, and without their support he has relatively little power. A president cannot get
any legislation passed if he does not have the support of the senate and or the house of
representatives. If a president wanted the US to sign a new treaty, the senate would have to ratify it
with a 2/3 majority. If a president wanted new legislation, he must submit it to congress and
persuade both houses to vote for it. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The president also has the power to appoint judges at district, appeal and Supreme Court levels.
This is argued as an important power, but it has its limits. After the nomination to the supreme
court which is the most superior of all courts, has been made, then the senate begins it s
confirmation process. If the senate does not reach a simple majority, as seen with Bork for
example in 1987. With this in mind, the president s power comes down to one thing: persuasion.
This may be done in a variety of ways. The most sucessful way is to telephone individual
congressman and try and pursuade them that way. President Raegan was extremely good at this.
Another way is helping with legislation, i.e passing one piece of legislation and not vetoing it if
congress passes his legislation. A simple trade. However, in actual fact the president has much
more than the power to persuade. He has many options in a lot of areas, though one of them is
persuasion, and is the main power under the circumstances of late Clinton for example, the others
play a major part if a president has control of the senate and or the house of representatives. The
most important power a president has is the power to appoint Supreme Court judges. This gives a
president the chance to have their image in place for a long period of time, after they are

The Effects Of Dyslipidemia On The Body
Dyslipidemia is characterized by increased total cholesterol levels, low density lipoprotein
cholesterol levels (LDL C), triglyceride levels (TG), and low high density lipoprotein cholesterol
levels (HDL C) (1). Most of the cholesterols in the body (60 70%) are transported to liver cells in
the form of LDL C through direct interaction with specific LDL receptors (1). Dietary intake of
foods that are high in cholesteroland saturated fats (such as egg yolk, butter, fast food) activates a
feedback mechanism which lowers the activity of LDL receptors. As a consequence, LDLs are no

Using this approach, lipid measurements are only used to monitor for adherence and safety (in

A Short Note On Visa Program Vs. Visa Programs
How does the J 1 visa program compare to the H 2 visa program? How do the employer
sponsorship requirements, work protections, problems, and litigation trends, and other
components of the programs compare? Short Answer The J 1 visa program is very unlike the H
2 visa program in design, oversight, and regulation. The J 1 visa program contains 15 different
categories of participants, where some, such as secondary students, are generally not allowed to
work. Furthermore, sponsor requirements for the J 1 visa program are not at the employer level,

The J 1 visa program dwarves the H 2 visa program. For example, in 2013, estimates were that
there were 215,866 J 1 visa participants as compared to 74,859 H 2A workers and 94,919 H 2B
workers. J 1 visa participants are like H 2 workers in that they lack access to many public
benefits and such things as federal funded lawyers. b.Sponsorship and Employer Requirements
To qualify as a sponsor for the J 1 visa program, an entity must be a U.S. government entity at any
level, an international organization or agency that the U.S. is a member of and have an office in
the U.S., or [r]eputable organizations that are United States Persons. To earn a sponsor

(2) Meet at all times its financial obligations and responsibilities attendant to successful
sponsorship of its exchange visitor program; and (3) Demonstrate that the organization or its

that working as a high school counselor definitely doesn t seem like it d be the easiest job in the
world. High school is a very tough time in a teen s life. It s all focused on preparing you for the
outside world and if we didn t have people like Mr. Campbell, students wouldn t have as much
motivation as they do to do well and graduate. I also chose to interview him simply because I
knew he would tell me everything I would need to know and more! The first couple of questions
that were asked was just the simple stuff, such as; what degree(s) were obtained, how and why
this field was chosen and to describe his current job. He started off by explaining what he does as a
whole. We already know that he s a school counselor, however, he s so much more than just that. He
shared that there are three different branches of counselinghe works with. Academic, which is just
making sure students pick the right classes. Career, which is helping students pick a career
showing what they need in order to make that dream happen. Also, he helps individuals socially
and personally, like many counselors do. Mr. Campbell has a B.S. degree in psychologyand also a
Masters in school counseling. He also informed me that he is a licensed

The Destructive Power of Pain Essay
The Destructive Power of Pain
There are two types of pain that we all experience, physical and emotional (or mental). Physical
pain is a signal of the nerves; therefore it is something that is tangible, something that we can prove
is there and something that we can feel. Emotional pain is hurt on the inside of one s soul. It
cannot be expressed; it is only a feeling in the soul. According to the Christian view, pain makes
someone a better person. However, some people disagree with this because they believe that pain
destroys a human being s self worth.
Physical pain is a signal given by nerves that an organism is in a potentially hurtful environment.
This is the type of pain that hospital in patients experience, and it often ... Show more content on

Jim felt that no one could do anything to comfort him, and that this severe pain would continue
for the rest of his life. He became very depressed and he no longer wanted to go on living life,
and never thought about the pain that he was causing his family or how his death would effect
them. The pain totally changed this once happy go lucky man into a hard, depressed, and
uncaring person. He was unable to walk, which made him unable to support himself and his
family. Because of one small accident, Jim Jones life was changed forever, and he will live with
this horrid pain until death. Although physical pain is tangible and can really be felt and
explained to others, the results of being in physical pain for long periods of time also tends to
cause a person to suffer from emotional pain.
Emotional pain can, in some cases, be more destructive than physical pain. A doctor cannot heal
emotional pain; it is something that a person must let heal over time with the help of God and
their friends and family. Emotional pain is an aching in one s heart or soul that can t be cured
by conventional medicine, but rather a change of his behavior and self worth. It comes about in
many ways, whether from a lost job or family member, a feeling of uselessness that one feels he
gives to society, or sheer depression. Take Billy Bob for example. When he lost his job as a gas
attendant for the local Chevron,

Why Does History Matter
A question often asked is, Why does history matter? History is a subject taught to people all around
the world and is essential to the survival of the human race. History matters because it connects
things through time, helps present day people to make better decisions than their predecessors
based on pastevents, and teaches individuals about their heritage.
First, history matters because it connects all things throughout the fabric of time. People are like
living histories because each has a rich past full of ancestors and events that brought them to the
place they are in present day. History connects the past and present in many ways that most people
don t even see. Different communities speak languages that were created long before their ... Show

It is important for people to know about their predecessors and how they came to be in
existence. I have always been fascinated in the rich history of my family. Being first generation
immigrant, I have witnessed the great move across the Atlantic firsthand and know how hard it
is to leave your family and home behind to create a new life. My grandmother, on my mother s
side, was born in former Yugoslavia, present day Serbia, as Adelheid Amschlinger. In 1943 she
had to flee her home because of World War II. Yugoslavia had been annexed by the Nazis in 1941
and was introduced to racial laws and persecution of Jews and other political opponents. People
started uprising all throughout the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the violence was enough to force
my grandmother, her sister, and mother to flee. Adelheid s father was captured in 1944, while
they were trying to flee and was killed. They fled to Austria, in hopes of finding safety, and were
forced to change their names. Adelheid, her mother, and her sister lived on the countryside for
years in a place near the city of Graz. There they resided until my grandmother, then known as Jana
Amschlinger, decided to move to Vienna, Austria and started a family with my grandfather,
Michael Wisniewski. After having my mother, Sitra Wisniewski, Michael and Jana divorced. Both
continued to live in Vienna and my mother grew up in Vienna, as well. My mother and father, both
Austrians, then married and had my sister and I. In the spring of 2004, my mother, Sitra Tauscher
Wisniewski, and my father, Johannes Tauscher, decided that Vienna didn t have enough
opportunities for them as doctors and they wanted a change of setting. Both traveled to the U.S. and
interviewed at Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical company, based in Indiana, that had expressed interest in

The Most Important Aspects Of Family Values
Everyone has values that they consider to be the most important aspects of their life. For me, these
values are family and friendship. In many occasions, it is those who have less, but have strong
familial and friendship bonds that seem to be the happiest. Through family bonds and friendship,
we are able to have happy, fulfilling lives that money and success can not quite achieve. In the
CASL building, during the photowalk, I observed my surroundings to find the photos that I took. In
the photos I took, a Macbethposter and a quinceaГ±era, we can see why I feel that these bonds are
of utmost importance. The Macbeth poster shows that power comes with a price and cannot bring
true happinessthrough the facial expression and the skull being in the shape of a crown. While the
quinceaГ±era photo shows that having familyand friends surrounding you can bring you happiness.
However, the music videos that were viewed in class display different values from my own. In
these, the core values displayed are black empowerment and bringing awareness to discrimination
that the African American community face as a whole. Although these are vastly important, they
do not connect fully with my values.
In the first photo taken, we are able to see why family and friendship are the most significant
values. The photo is of a quinceaГ±era that is taking place at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic
Church. In the photo, we see the girl being blessed by the priest while all of her family and friends

Persuasive Speech On Recycling
The world is full of people using everyday products made from plastics or styrofoam, from simple
things like cups, forks and spoons to expensive electronics such as printers, phones, and TV s.
About 300 million tons of plastic is produced globally each year (Raising Awareness of Plastic
Waste) and more than 14 million tonnes of polystyrene(styrofoam) are produced every year around
the world (Now and forever: The Styrofoam dilemma). With these high amounts being produced
each year it is easy to see why our oceans are now filled with these materials which end up
damaging our earths ecosystem, marine life, and wild life. Out of the 300 million tons of plastic
produced only about 10 percent of that is recycled (Raising Awareness of Plastic Waste) and out
of the 14 million tons of styrofoam produced only 56 million pounds of styrofoam are recycled
(EPS (Styrofoam) Facts, Figures and Statistics) This means that the majority of plastics and
styrofoam end up in landfills or our oceans changing our world for the worst one non recycled item
at a time. After reviewing two different Ted Talks, one about recycling
plastic by Mike Biddle and
one about recycling styrofoam by Ashton Cofer it has become more apparent to me that recycling
plastics is extremely important and Mike Biddle has the solution. What is Ted Talks? Ted Talks is
a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or
less). TED was established in 1984 as a conference

Inflammation In Chronic Periodontitis
Pathogenesis of chronic inflammation of periodontal diseases: Inflammation is defined as a
complex reaction to injurious agents such as microbes and damaged, usually necrotic, cells. It
consists of vascular responses, migration and activation of leukocytes, and systemic reactions (8).
The function of inflammationis to defend the body against microbial infection, and to repair injured
tissues. Nonetheless, inflammation does have the potential to cause harm (9). Inflammation
generally begins with an acute phase characterized by extravasations of plasma fluid proteins and
cells, in particular neutrophils. The function of these various factors includes the killing and
elimination of microbes, debridement of necrotic tissue and eventually repair and possibly
regeneration of damaged tissue. As the inflammation persists, changing from an acute to a chronic
state, additional cellular players become involved, notably macrophages, mast cells, T cells, B
cells, plasma cells, and eosinophils (10). The inflammatory response in chronic periodontitis
includes activation of leucocytes, neutrophils, T lymphocytes and plasma cells and release of
antibodies and chemical mediators such as cytokines, chemokines, C reactive protein, tumor
necrosis factor alpha (TNF О±), interleukin 1 (IL 1), and prostaglandins. The lipopolysaccharides
are present in the gram... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
MMPs are responsible for increased collagen breakdown. The activation of MMPs is regulated by
a group of endogenous proteins named tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloprotinases (TIMPs). TNF
О± is produced mainly by activated macrophages and responsible for increased osteoclast activity
resulting in bone resorption. Also collagen production is inhibited by the reduced activity of
fibroblasts in response to TNF О±

An Anatomical Analysis of the Tennis Serve
Introduction
Tennis serve is the shot that starts off the point. It is normally instigated by pitching the ball into
the air and thumping it into the diagonally opposite service box exclusive of touching the net.
This act is attained underhand or overhead. It is the only attempt where a player takes his time to
position up, instead of reacting to an opponent s shot. In doing this, high percentages of the efforts
are normally exerted at the upper extremity of the body, while the rest at the lower extremity of the
body. the serves comes in five main types of which includes; cannonball or flat serve, topspin slice
serve, slice serve, American twist serve and the topspin serve. The paper will focus on the some of
the types of the serves and the ways in which the upper extremity are involved in the game. With
this, it will look at the movements that occur at each of the upper extremity together with the
muscles that are in use at the joints.
The upper extremities are linked to the shaft by means of the shoulder girdle. These parts of the
body includes; the shoulder girdle together with the shoulder blade and collar bone, the upper arm
together with the humerus, the lower arm with the radius, the hand with carpus and lastly the
metacarpus and fingers. During the implication of the different types of the serve, the extremities
are used in different ways in that, they are involved in different movement and different types of the
muscles in them are also required participating in the

  • 2. Writing Using The Music Vocabulary [Students are writing using the music vocabulary in the written summative unit assessment at the end of the unit on vocal health. First the students created a list on the white board at the beginning of the unit of what good sitting and standing posture looks like. The students then wrote a peer review on a peers review. Student work samples A, B, and C include examples of this peer review that student performed during lesson one. The students then had to apply the vocabulary to write a plan for correction for the student. Then in lesson two the students used the vocabulary to describe their own posture. This assessment of vocabulary was not as effective as in lesson one. Student work samples A, B, and C include a copy of this self assessment and the students evaluations. Then once again students demonstrated that they understood the posture vocabulary by writing a narrative on the final summative assessment for vocal. The students wrote how they would explain proper singing posture to a new student. Refer to student work samples to see student improvement in this area between the pre and post test. The students discussed the vocal anatomy involved in vocal production at the end of lesson two. They then demonstrated their basic recall knowledge (Webb s depth of knowledge) on their homework assessment for lesson two. In this assessment the students had to draw and label the section of the body used in resonation, phonation, respiration, stomach, diagram, lungs, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This has limited women s chances to get ahead, but people are not standing idly by instead they are pushing for women to get equal opportunity. Some of these advancements are that women now have the right to vote, to own their property, and get jobs. However, not all jobs are available to women such as combat positions in the military. Combat positions or chances on the front line are unavailable to women because they are depicted as fragile and in need of protection. Women deserve the opportunity to try to gain their placement on the front line because women can be just as strong as men and they are willing to fight. • 4. The Potentinal for Ozone in BTEX-Contaminated Sites Ozone is a highly oxidative chemical known to be capable of degrading many types of organic contaminants, including both chemicals and organisms. It is known in the grain industry to be useful for disinfecting cereals without affecting quality of the cereal. This includes microbial inactivation, killing pests, degrading certain pesticides and fungicides, and mycotoxins (Tiwari et al. 2010). Ozone also has an important role in the treatment of wastewater for similar reasons. It is used in the treatment train at both the Alfred Merritt Smith and River Mountains treatment plants in Las Vegas (SNWA 2014). The ozonation processes in these plants kill off bacteria and microorganisms by bubbling ozone into the wastewater. As ozone dissipates within several minutes, no residue is left after treatment, though certain disinfection byproducts can potentially be formed depending on the constituents in the wastewater, and the placement of ozonation in the treatment train (Gerrity et al. 2010). Certain organic contaminants of interest, including ___, tend to have long half lives and low water solubility, which can make traditional and natural forms of remediation ineffective. The past decade has shown that ozone can be used in the remediation of contaminated soils, primarily by in situ ozonation systems. As mentioned previously, ozone is an unstable chemical that has a half life of around two minutes (Dey, Rosenwinkel, Wheeler 2002). In the process of oxidation, ozone reacts with ... Here is information on how she can understand asthma and control it and also help prevent asthma flare ups. Asthma is a chronic long term lung disease that inflames and narrows the airways. Asthma causes periods of wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath and coughing. Coughing usually occurs at night or early morning, can occur during the day if allergies flares your asthma. The airways are tubes that carry air into and out of your lungs. People who are diagnosed with asthma have inflamed airways, inflammation makes the airways swollen and very sensitive. The airways react strongly to certain inhaled substances, when the airways react the muscles around them tighten. This causes the airways to narrow and less air is able to flow into the lungs. When the swelling becomes worse the airways become even narrower. The cells in the airways then make more mucus than usual. Mucus is a sticky thick liquid that can narrow the airways even more. This is a chain reaction that can result in asthma symptoms. The symptoms of asthma can happen each time the airways are inflamed. The symptoms can be mild and go away on their own, or after minimal treatment with asthma medication. If the symptoms get worse or more intense and get worse you are having an asthma attack. Furthermore, as a former socialist, he disliked capitalism and the free market. However, post 1922, he came to the realization that he needed a strong economic plan to retain his office as well as to re establish Italy as a major power. Mussolini, like many other dictators, was not an economist and so none of his policies were without their downfalls. It can be argued that his most successful policy was the Battle for the Grain. Tocqueville would not be surprised to see what is happening at institutes of higher learning today, since it is basically the shift in weight from the former to the latter. While these students could talk to people who have different ideas in order to gain new perspectives or strengthen their own, they instead choose to retreat into spaces where they can take comfort by avoiding uncomfortable topics and protecting their own beliefs. Although physical pain is tangible and can really be felt and explained to others, the results of being in physical pain for long periods of time also tends to cause a person to suffer from emotional pain. Emotional pain can, in some cases, be more destructive than physical pain. A doctor cannot heal emotional pain; it is something that a person must let heal over time with the help of God and their friends and family. Emotional pain is an aching in one s heart or soul that can t be cured by conventional medicine, but rather a change of his behavior and self worth. It comes about in many ways, whether from a lost job or family member, a feeling of uselessness that one feels he gives to society, or sheer depression. Take Billy Bob for example. When he lost his job as a gas attendant for the local Chevron, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Why Does History Matter A question often asked is, Why does history matter? History is a subject taught to people all around the world and is essential to the survival of the human race. History matters because it connects things through time, helps present day people to make better decisions than their predecessors based on pastevents, and teaches individuals about their heritage. First, history matters because it connects all things throughout the fabric of time. People are like living histories because each has a rich past full of ancestors and events that brought them to the place they are in present day. History connects the past and present in many ways that most people don t even see. Different communities speak languages that were created long before their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important for people to know about their predecessors and how they came to be in existence. I have always been fascinated in the rich history of my family. Being first generation immigrant, I have witnessed the great move across the Atlantic firsthand and know how hard it is to leave your family and home behind to create a new life. My grandmother, on my mother s side, was born in former Yugoslavia, present day Serbia, as Adelheid Amschlinger. In 1943 she had to flee her home because of World War II. Yugoslavia had been annexed by the Nazis in 1941 and was introduced to racial laws and persecution of Jews and other political opponents. People started uprising all throughout the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the violence was enough to force my grandmother, her sister, and mother to flee. Adelheid s father was captured in 1944, while they were trying to flee and was killed. They fled to Austria, in hopes of finding safety, and were forced to change their names. Adelheid, her mother, and her sister lived on the countryside for years in a place near the city of Graz. There they resided until my grandmother, then known as Jana Amschlinger, decided to move to Vienna, Austria and started a family with my grandfather, Michael Wisniewski. After having my mother, Sitra Wisniewski, Michael and Jana divorced. Both continued to live in Vienna and my mother grew up in Vienna, as well. My mother and father, both Austrians, then married and had my sister and I. In the spring of 2004, my mother, Sitra Tauscher Wisniewski, and my father, Johannes Tauscher, decided that Vienna didn t have enough opportunities for them as doctors and they wanted a change of setting. Both traveled to the U.S. and interviewed at Eli Lilly, a pharmaceutical company, based in Indiana, that had expressed interest in hiring ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. The Most Important Aspects Of Family Values Everyone has values that they consider to be the most important aspects of their life. For me, these values are family and friendship. In many occasions, it is those who have less, but have strong familial and friendship bonds that seem to be the happiest. Through family bonds and friendship, we are able to have happy, fulfilling lives that money and success can not quite achieve. In the CASL building, during the photowalk, I observed my surroundings to find the photos that I took. In the photos I took, a Macbethposter and a quinceaГ±era, we can see why I feel that these bonds are of utmost importance. The Macbeth poster shows that power comes with a price and cannot bring true happinessthrough the facial expression and the skull being in the shape of a crown. While the quinceaГ±era photo shows that having familyand friends surrounding you can bring you happiness. However, the music videos that were viewed in class display different values from my own. In these, the core values displayed are black empowerment and bringing awareness to discrimination that the African American community face as a whole. Although these are vastly important, they do not connect fully with my values. In the first photo taken, we are able to see why family and friendship are the most significant values. The photo is of a quinceaГ±era that is taking place at the Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church. In the photo, we see the girl being blessed by the priest while all of her family and friends watch ... • 45. Persuasive Speech On Recycling The world is full of people using everyday products made from plastics or styrofoam, from simple things like cups, forks and spoons to expensive electronics such as printers, phones, and TV s. About 300 million tons of plastic is produced globally each year (Raising Awareness of Plastic Waste) and more than 14 million tonnes of polystyrene(styrofoam) are produced every year around the world (Now and forever: The Styrofoam dilemma). With these high amounts being produced each year it is easy to see why our oceans are now filled with these materials which end up damaging our earths ecosystem, marine life, and wild life. Out of the 300 million tons of plastic produced only about 10 percent of that is recycled (Raising Awareness of Plastic Waste) and out of the 14 million tons of styrofoam produced only 56 million pounds of styrofoam are recycled (EPS (Styrofoam) Facts, Figures and Statistics) This means that the majority of plastics and styrofoam end up in landfills or our oceans changing our world for the worst one non recycled item at a time. After reviewing two different Ted Talks, one about recycling plastic by Mike Biddle and one about recycling styrofoam by Ashton Cofer it has become more apparent to me that recycling plastics is extremely important and Mike Biddle has the solution. What is Ted Talks? Ted Talks is a nonprofit devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks (18 minutes or less). TED was established in 1984 as a conference ... • 46. Inflammation In Chronic Periodontitis Pathogenesis of chronic inflammation of periodontal diseases: Inflammation is defined as a complex reaction to injurious agents such as microbes and damaged, usually necrotic, cells. It consists of vascular responses, migration and activation of leukocytes, and systemic reactions (8). The function of inflammationis to defend the body against microbial infection, and to repair injured tissues. Nonetheless, inflammation does have the potential to cause harm (9). Inflammation generally begins with an acute phase characterized by extravasations of plasma fluid proteins and cells, in particular neutrophils. The function of these various factors includes the killing and elimination of microbes, debridement of necrotic tissue and eventually repair and possibly regeneration of damaged tissue. As the inflammation persists, changing from an acute to a chronic state, additional cellular players become involved, notably macrophages, mast cells, T cells, B cells, plasma cells, and eosinophils (10). The inflammatory response in chronic periodontitis includes activation of leucocytes, neutrophils, T lymphocytes and plasma cells and release of antibodies and chemical mediators such as cytokines, chemokines, C reactive protein, tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF О±), interleukin 1 (IL 1), and prostaglandins. The lipopolysaccharides are present in the gram... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... MMPs are responsible for increased collagen breakdown. The activation of MMPs is regulated by a group of endogenous proteins named tissue inhibitors of matrix metalloprotinases (TIMPs). TNF О± is produced mainly by activated macrophages and responsible for increased osteoclast activity resulting in bone resorption. Also collagen production is inhibited by the reduced activity of fibroblasts in response to TNF О± ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. An Anatomical Analysis of the Tennis Serve Introduction Tennis serve is the shot that starts off the point. It is normally instigated by pitching the ball into the air and thumping it into the diagonally opposite service box exclusive of touching the net. This act is attained underhand or overhead. It is the only attempt where a player takes his time to position up, instead of reacting to an opponent s shot. In doing this, high percentages of the efforts are normally exerted at the upper extremity of the body, while the rest at the lower extremity of the body. the serves comes in five main types of which includes; cannonball or flat serve, topspin slice serve, slice serve, American twist serve and the topspin serve. The paper will focus on the some of the types of the serves and the ways in which the upper extremity are involved in the game. With this, it will look at the movements that occur at each of the upper extremity together with the muscles that are in use at the joints. The upper extremities are linked to the shaft by means of the shoulder girdle. These parts of the body includes; the shoulder girdle together with the shoulder blade and collar bone, the upper arm together with the humerus, the lower arm with the radius, the hand with carpus and lastly the metacarpus and fingers. During the implication of the different types of the serve, the extremities are used in different ways in that, they are involved in different movement and different types of the muscles in them are also required participating in the ...
