Why Actin Is A Protein Of Any Cell
Actin
Introduction:
Proteins are the primary functionary macromolecules of any cell due to their vast
variety in function, which is a result of their amount of varying forms, and they are
polymers composed of amino acids. These functions include transportation, structural
support, motility, gene regulation, signal carrying and receiving, storage, and
catalyzing reactions; these functions are determined by the form of the protein. It
follows then that the many functions of proteins come from their multitude of forms
and their multiple levels of structure which are as follows: primary, secondary,
tertiary, and quaternary. The primary structure is most basic chain or sequence of
amino acids that accumulate into the alpha helices and beta sheets which compose
the secondary structure of a protein. The tertiary structure is a complete and three
dimensional polypeptide chain containing the secondary structures, folds, coils,
loops, and such that form a globular form. Quaternary structure is a single protein
formed by multiple polypeptide chains or multiple tertiary structures.
General Information on Actin:
Actin is a protein of moderate size that was discovered in an extraction of rabbit
muscle tissue by Bruno Ferenc Straub. Actin is the component of actin filaments
which are a major component in the cytoskeleton. This actin cytoskeleton that
structurally supports the cell membrane is quite important to the morphology of a
cell due to its spread, abundance, and general size; it can
In A Small Place, Knowledge and Power are Codependent
Essay
Knowledge and power are considered two of the most important assets of a
society. In the context of Jamaica Kincaid s A Small Place knowledge could be
defined as a set of proficiencies or expertise attained through experience and
education and power as a control of one s own circumstances. While knowledge and
power are individually definable, they do not exist in isolation. Knowledge and
power are mutually constitutive to one another. In her aggressive and expository
essay, Kincaid successfully demonstrates through the use of several examples, that
knowledge, which is a necessary precursor to power, is severely lacking in Antigua,
which in turn limits the power Antiguans hold over their own society.
Kincaid begins by pointing out to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And it must not be forgotten, that knowledge also includes an understanding of one s
own culture, nation, and personal history which might be represented by a public
monument. Yet Antigua lacks all of these marks that may indicate to a vacationer,
that there, knowledge dwells. Then Kincaid abruptly and sarcastically shifts the
subject to the beauty of an island. What does a lack of education, medical and
technological advance, and culture matter in an island so beautiful? Why would you,
a tourist, care about the absence of knowledge in your vacation destination? Kincaid
successfully points out in a mordant tone that, absurdly, a lack of knowledge in
Antigua is considered unimportant in wake of the tourist attracting splendor of the
island. Kincaid continues using the perspective of the tourist to mark the absence of
knowledge by discussing the cars driven by Antiguans. She writes that you, the
tourist, notice that all the cars you see are brand new...but they have an awful sound.
(6) She continues to explain this predicament when Kincaid s tourist thinks, It s
because they use leaded gasoline in these brand new cars whose engines were built
to use non leaded gasoline, but you musn t ask the person driving the car if this is so,
because he or she has never heard of unleaded gasoline. (6) Kincaid directly points out
that Antiguans are unfamiliar with the concept of non leaded gasoline something that
is common knowledge to the
Daemon s Personality And Identity In The Golden Compass
In The Golden Compass, daemons act as an extension or real life manifestation of
someone s consciousness or soul. They take physical form as animals, revealing
information about the character s personality and identity. Daemons are always by
your side, basically like wearing your heart on your sleeve. It is more than just a
soul however, a daemon is also like a friend/extension of yourself that you can talk
to as a friend wherever you go. You can talk to your own daemon like you talk to
yourself, so daemons have a very close connection with its owner . Everyone has one,
but children s daemons tend to switch around as they go through puberty, which is a
pretty good representation of how the teenage/child soul can fluctuate wildly at the
age period.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Daemons can tell us a lot about someone s personality similar people have similar
daemons. For example, servants have dog daemons, which denotes loyalty. Witches
all have bird daemons, probably because they both fly. We can decipher some
underlying information about a character by examining their daemon, because they
are all representative of the consciousness and feelings of its owner. For example,
Mrs. Coulter has a golden monkey for a daemon, which denotes beauty from the
gold, but potentially mischievous intentions from the monkey. Lord Asriel has a
snow leopard for a daemon, which reflects his power, coldness, and potential
aggressiveness. The interaction between two character s daemons can be
representative of how those two characters will interact
California Floristic Province Essay
The California Floristic Province. The California Floristic Province, is the only hot
spot that occurs largely in the United States; it is home to exceptionally high plant
diversity and varieties of habitat. Stretching along the west coast starting in
southwestern Oregon, it covers 70% of the State of California, and into
northwestern Baja California, Mexico. Why is California Floristic Province a
hotspot? According to the BBC, of nearly 2,000 of the plant species found in the
province, are found nowhere else in the world, in addition, the hotspot is also home
to two spectacular endemic tree species, the giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron

In addition, The Sierra Club, Wilderness Society, Nature Conservancy, Conservation
International, and California Native Plant Society, are key contributors to
conservation efforts in the California Floristic Province. One thing than can be done,
besides educating the public and lobbying the politicians, is to take legal actions
against individual decision makers who cause distraction of the environment through
their legislature. In other words, if a XYZ Corp. purchases a land for development,
which is a recognized habitat to endangered species, it might be more effective to
target the individuals within the company, rather than the company itself. On top of
that, a negative publicity campaign, employing the social media, might be effective
too.
Studying the Planet Jupiter
Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solar system, it also the fifth planet that count from
the Sun. There are many interesting facts about Jupiter s atmosphere. Jupiter has the
largest planetary atmosphere in the Solar system. The composition of the atmosphere
is mainly molecular hydrogen and helium. Although water exists deep in the
atmospherelayer, the concentration is comparatively very small. (Mahaffy et al.,
1998) Until now, there have been no satellites sent on to the Jupiter. Only eight
spacecraft sent to bring back information. The eight spacecraft were Pioneer 10,
Pioneer 11, Voyager 1, Voyager 2, Galileo, Ulysses, Cassini, and New Horizons.
(Tritonfun, 2008) Among these eight spacecraft, five of them are from NASA. For
this mission, an artificial manufactured satellite that functions as an orbiter will be
send to the orbit of the Jupiter to study its enormous atmosphere and the weather on
the Jupiter.

Mission Profile:
The destination of the spacecraft is the orbital that above the Jupiter s atmosphere.
The spacecraft will be function as an orbiter. It will orbit with the Jupiter in a 10
hours period, which is the rotation period of the Jupiter. No probe will be used for
this mission owing to the reason that there is no solid surface on the Jupiter. The
focus of the mission will be on the troposphere layer of the atmosphere, and the
surface of Jupiter. The goal of the orbiter is to monitor the temperature and pressure

Denial of Service (DoS) is a major threat in every type of Computer Network,
including Internet, Cloud Services and Sensor Networks. In this paper we propose
novel Security Metrics to compute the severity and impact of a Denial of Service
(DoS) attack, which helps to accurately and precisely estimate the monetary loss
incurred by an organization. These metrics are quantitative in nature and map Quality
of Service (QoS) requirements into measurable and acceptable threshold parameters.
The test results of the application of these metrics using Network Simulator are
presented. The work for implementation of these metrics in Network Management
Systems (NMS) and Visualization tools is in progress. Key Words: Security Metrics,
Denial of Service, Network Attack 1.INTRODUCTION Metrics are scales of
measurement used for improvement and scientific decision making. Security metrics
are useful for quantitatively measuring an organization s security level or of security
vulnerabilities of an entity. For comprehensive network security and Cyber
Situational Awareness Management, security metrics play significant role as
proactive protection measures rather than reactive analysis

INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY
Background
The accounting profession was founded on the basis of public trust; the public must
have confidence in the services provided by public accountants. Scholars agree
accounting ethics education is one way to solidify public trust in the accounting
profession. (Mastracchio Jr, JimГ©nez Angueira, Toth, 2015). In the aftermath of
accounting scandals of the previous decade specifically, those involving the scandals
surrounding Enron, Arthur Anderson, and WorldCom practitioners, regulators and
educators have called for ethics reform and the introduction of ethics in university
accounting programs. While current research confirms an ... Show more content on

Furthermore, accountants need to have the ability to recognize moral issues that
happen in business circumstances and the skill of judgment to determine alternatives
for resolving ethical predicaments. Ethical standards apply to all accountants who
enter the profession. The nature of accounting work, as it relates to decision making,
and its impact on businesses and stakeholders, requires the highest level of ethics.
Accordingly, accountants must possess a dual competency of technical skills and
knowledge and the ability to take ethical actions within accounting decisions.
Statement of the Problem Accounting graduates are likely to encounter ethical
situations in the workforce; however, ethics instruction in universities is inadequate
and accounting graduates are ill prepared to handle ethical duties of complex, modern
business organizations and transactions. The drive for high profit and high stock
prices can tempt management to falsify or hide financial information from other
stakeholders. Intense competitiveness and uncertainties of the global marketplace can
force accountants to consider decisions to either benefit or to harm stakeholders.
Accounting graduates must be able to consider the ethical implications of accounting
decision making as well understand, apply and implement the rules and regulations of
the accounting profession, which

Ronald Reagan And Terrorism Essay
Ronald Reagan was fond of quoting John Adams, who famously said: Facts are
stubborn things. So when Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif made public
pronouncements about fighting extremism, the facts show that his comments are
ironic at best and little more than insincere propaganda.
The fact is that Iran is the leading state sponsor of terrorism, with government
officials directly responsible for numerous terrorist attacks since 1979. These include
suicide bombings of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut and the Marine barracks at Beirut
International Airport; the bombing of Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia in 1996;
attacks against more than a dozen embassies in Iran, including those of Britain, the

last year, Iranian leaders have taken to pointing fingers at others to assign blame for
the regional problems that they helped create. But before buying into their rhetoric,
consider a few questions: Which country issues a fatwa for the execution of author
Salman Rushdie, a death threat that is still in force today? (Iran.) What country has
attacked more than a dozen embassies inside its own territory in violation of all
international laws? (Iran.) What country managed, planned and executed the 1996
attack in Khobar Towers against the American Marines? (Iran.) Do these answers
describe a country that is serious about combating terrorism and extremism?
The rest of the Islamic world has unanimously condemned Iran s behavior. In Istanbul
in April, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation formally rejected and deplored Iran
s policies of sectarianism, interference in the affairs of others and support for
terrorism.
Saudi Arabia is a leader in the war against terrorism. My country brought the world
together for an international conference in 2005 to align nations in the fight against
terrorism. The kingdom contributed more than $100 million to create a global center

Gaius Cassius Longinu Part in the Assissination of Julius...
Cassius, full name Gaius Cassius Longinus, was recalled as a good soldier with a
terrible temper and in politics, irrational and drowned by vanity.
In his time he was a Roman senator, also known by his part taking in the
assassination of Julius Caesar.
In his early years, he studied philosophy under Archelaus, and was fluent in Greek.
His wife, Junia Tertia was the half sister of co conspirator Brutus. Cassius served
under Crassus, He took part in saving Remnants of the Roman army against the
Parthians and even repelled attacks from the Parthians on Syria. Through this, it is
easy to tell that Cassius must have been a successful military leader.
Too bad his choices in military didn t rub off on his morales, he was being tried for
extortion in Syria but the civil war dispute between Julius Caesar and the Optimates
saved him from being imprisoned. Further use of his brilliant military strategy lead
him to becoming Julius Caesars legate. This leading further into his friendship with
Julius. Year forty four and Cassius success continued to climb, he had become
praetor peregrinus, and elected magistrate, he was promised the governorship of
Syria. While Cassius was given praetor peregrinus, Julius appointed Marcus Brutus as
praetor urbanus, a less prestigious position. This greatly angered Brutus leading him
to become one of the most active conspirators in the assassination of Julius Caesar.
Caesar says this of Cassius, He reads much; he is a great observer and he

Anyone that enjoys football enjoys the excitement that comes with the game. A lot of
the excitement that comes with football is the touchdowns. After touchdowns, it has
become customary to celebrate. These celebrations have become more tame over the
years, thanks to Commissioner Roger Goodell and his anti fun ways. Long gone are
the days of using the pylon to play miniature golf or stashing a cell phone under the
goal post and making a phone call. The most extreme celebration one will see
nowadays is a little dance or giving the football to a kid in the crowd. Unfortunately,
the media and many other people are trying to make big deal about Cam Newton

The media does not like the idea of someone other than Tom Brady or Peyton
manning dominating the quarterback position, especially a black quarterback. It is
time for the media to move into 2015 like the rest of the world is.
In order for Cam Newton to get the respect he deserves, the media has to learn to
accept that Cam is here to stay and is an elite talent. How many teams are still
undefeated in the NFL this season? There is only one and it just so happens to be
Cam Newton s Panthers. With the season that Cam has had, he should be a near
lock for MVP, but the media still keeps bringing up other names like Tom Brady.
What people fail to realize is that Newton is putting up these numbers with very
few receivers. Ted Ginn is the number one receiver for the Panthers and he has
never been more than a number three option in his career. Newton does have a
great tight end in Greg Olson, but for the most part is single handedly carrying this
team with his legs and his arm. It is time for Newton to be put in the positive
spotlight. Super Cam is good for the NFL and good for the African American
community. He broke the mold and proved that an African American can be a great
quarterback in the NFL and have a ton of fun while doing it. Next time you see
number 1 flashing that contagious smile and celebrating a big touchdown, embrace it

The Third Estate And The French Revolution
Before the revolution, French society was divided into three estates or orders. The
Third Estate was by far the largest of these, containing around 27 million people or
98 per cent of the nation. The Third Estate included every French citizen who did
not possess a noble title and was not ordained by the church. As might be expected
within such a large group, the Third Estate was marked by considerable diversity. It
housed many different classes and levels of wealth; many different professions and
ideas; rural, urban and provincial people alike. Members of the Third Estate ranged
from lowly beggars and struggling peasants to urban artisans and labourers; from the
shopkeepers and commercial middle classes to the nation s wealthiest merchants...

At the apex of the Third Estate s social hierarchy was the bourgeoisie, or capitalist
middle classes. The bourgeoisie were business owners and professionals who had
acquired enough wealth to live comfortably. There was also diversity within their
ranks. The so called petit bourgeoisie ( petty or small bourgeoisie ) were small scale
traders, landlords, shopkeepers and managers. The haute bourgeoisie ( high
bourgeoisie ) were wealthy merchants and traders, colonial landholders, industrialists,
bankers and financiers, tax farmers and trained professionals like doctors and
lawyers. The bourgeoisie flourished during the 1700s, on the back of France s
economic growth, modernisation, increased production, imperial expansion and
foreign trade. The haute bourgeoisie rose from the middle classes to become
independently wealthy, well educated and ambitious. As their wealth increased, so
did their desire for social status and political representation. Many bourgeoisie craved
entry into the Second Estate. They had enough money to acquire the costumes,
trappings and grand residences of the noble classes, however they lacked their titles,
privileges and prestige. The wealthiest of the bourgeoisie could buy their way into the
nobility through venal offices, though by the 1780s this was becoming frightfully

The Cleanup King
Once upon a time, in a place not so far away called Overland Park, Kansas, there
was a boy named Billy. He loved baseball. Really, he loooved baseball. He knew
every statistic (piece of data) there was to know about baseball, including all of his
own stats. He batted right handed, threw right handed, weighed 130 lbs. and was 5

.515 batting average and was nicknamed, The Cleanup King, by his teammates. He

They were down 6 4 with 2 outs, and Billy was up to bat. Billy knew he had to hit a
homerun here, since it would probably be his last at bat of the game.
So, Billy walked up to the plate and started the at bat. Before he started to hit, he
walked over to the third base coach. He asked, What should I do?
The base coach, George, said, Don t worry! Just stay calm and let the bat do the
work. The first pitch was a 74 mph fastball that whizzed by him for the first strike.
Man, he pitches fast! Billy thought. The next pitch was also right down the middle,
just a little slower, but had slowed down enough that that he swung and missed by
a mile, being way ahead. He thought, Yikes! I need to step up my game a couple
notches. The next pitch was outside, maybe to try and throw him off. The count was
now 1 and 2. Billy was determined to make the big hit happen. The next pitch was a
slow pitch right up the middle, and he knew it was now or never.
To say the least, he crushed that ball, though not as high as he would have preferred.
Billy practically screamed, Home run! but its trajectory kept getting lower and lower
in the sky until he realized he needed to run a lot faster, or he had no chance at the
big one. It would have been an easy double for a slow kid, and said no. At his
speed, it would not have been a hard triple, but again, he would have refused to stop
at anything short of a home run. As he rounded second and headed towards third, he

Tennis Is On The Right Track By Giving Equal Prize Money
People pretend it doesn t exist they deny that after all these years racism isn t
happening but it is still happening and very much alive. Tennis prides itself on being
innovators. People think tennis is on the right track by giving equal prize money to
both male and females and giving both genders equal opportunity in television and
media coverage but the fact remains that tenniswouldn t fully be there until they take
that one step and drop the racism. This may seem like an impossible task but with
lots of joint effort with the general public, fans and the people involved in the sport
racism can be decreased. Tennis is a predominantly white sport and with the success
of the Williams sister s barriers have begun to dissolve but it s still an issue that
needs fixing.
Tennis has a long standing history that like many other sports has been around for a
long time. There is thin evidence to suggest that tennis has been around for
thousands of years suggesting that the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans had played it
(Barzum). However, for many tennis is known to have really begun in London in
1874 Major Walter C. Wingfield patented the game of tennis (Barzum). That same
year saw the tournament at Wimbledon be played for the first time but at this time it
was only men that were allowed to participate. Ten years later in 1884 women were
finally able to participate at Wimbledon (Barzum). Tennis 100 percent a white mans
sport until 1968 the beginning of the open era of tennis when
Dancing Into The World Of Discourse Communities Essay
Dancing into the World of Discourse Communities Prior to entering this English
class, I never knew there was a such thing as a discourse community. Reading
assigned articles and doing research of my own, I discovered that I too was a part
of many discourse communities. While in high school, I was a part of many student
and national organizations, as well as schoolwide clubs, and teams. Although they
had different purposes, the organizations, clubs, and teams that I was a part of had
the same type of layout. They all had a common goal, participatory mechanisms,
information exchange, specific genres of the community, specialized terminology,
and levels of expertise. There is in one in particular that I have been involved in for
most of my life, the dancecommunity, that has not been recognized for its worth.
When I first started dancing, I did ballet, tap, and jazz, but when I got into high
school, I started doing majorette also called band dancing. Majorette is a mixture
of all dance styles, and it s done to live music from a band with percussion,
woodwinds, and brass. As a team, our goal is to display our levels of expertise by
performing, become better as individuals and as a team, relieving stress, develop
relationships, have fun, and most of all to be a part of something greater than
ourselves . We executed at football games, parades, and some basketball games.
When we competed against rival schools we would battle against them across the

In the last decade, society has erupted in controversy over aquariums and it has
driven both aquarium workers and consumers to speak up on the issue of the
cruelty that animals placed in these situations have faced. Individuals have gone to
aquariums as a form of entertainment for decades and they have become a part of
American culture. On average, one aquarium has opened each year for the past 12
years, a 50 percent increase over the 25 accredited aquariums that existed prior to
1990 (Savoye). Aquariums such as SeaWorld, which welcomes millions of people

Killer whales such as Tilikum are intelligent, social animals that need a large space
to thrive. However, in aquariums and theme parks like SeaWorld, these marine
animals are forced to live in small, unnatural spaces that cause them distress. (See
Figure 1). As a result, their personalities and temperaments will change and it can
have deadly consequences. When discussing Tilikum, John Jett, a scientist and
former SeaWorld trainer says, There s no place to swim and not much to do. His
teeth cause infections. He s sunburned. He s bullied. Given his boring life and ill
health, it comes as no surprise that he killed (Tocco). While SeaWorld workers may
claim that the whales that are put into captivity are not subjected to harm and are
given plenty of room to roam, there is no justification behind forcing these animals to
live in solitude. For such intelligent and social creatures, living this way goes against
their very nature.
Additionally, aquariums have adopted many disturbing practices that include tearing
calves away from their mothers and transferring them to different theme parks. In
the wild, orcas tend to live in pods, which can have up to 30 whales, that will travel
together for their entire lives. The experience of having it s calf taken away is
extremely traumatic for both the mother and the calf, given that in the wild the calf
rarely leaves its mother s side. A former diver named Crowe told Cowperthwaite that
he kidnapped baby whales for shipment to

Dr. Robert Hutchings Goddard
Dr. Robert Hutchings Goddard (1882 1945) was an American engineer, professor,
and inventor who built the world s first liquid fueled rocket in 1926 and is credited
as one of the founding fathers of modern rocketry. Goddard s liquid fueled rocket
reached an altitude of 41 feet, lasted 2 seconds and averaged about 60 miles per
hour and relied on a combination of gasoline and liquid oxygen that had two lines
run into the combustion chamber. To overcome the high temperatures required for
the combustion of pure oxygen, Goddard designed the extremely cold liquid oxygen
to cool the combustion chamber as it traveled from the fuel tank, a method still used
today. The first use of rockets was reported during the battle of Kai Keng in 1232

Powerful rockets are used to send artificial satellites into space. These 24 different
satellites are positioned into a total of six orbits. The GPS satellites circle the Earth
at an altitude of about 20,000 km (13,000 miles) and complete two full orbits every
day in which the satellites broadcast radio waves towards the receiver. As technology
advances, we began to further our understanding of the outer space by the use of
rockets. These rockets are traveling miles beyond earth to study other planet life and
compare earth to these outer planets.
During this experience with rockets I learned many things throughout the project.
When technology continues for these rockets we will be able to soon explore our
universe and get a better comprehension about the world our us. We can later identify
the aspects of different planets without the use of human travel and find explanations
faster than ever. Scientist are still trying build new engine designs that are trying to
find ways to accelerate ions or atomic particles to extremely high speeds to create
thrust more efficiently. To learn about our outer space, we need

Anticipation
There is nothing as good as securing an achievement in life. The feeling one gets in
succeeding puts a smile on the faces of many. In most cases, it calls for
celebrations with less focus on the hurdles and obstacles that one had gone through
in becoming successful. Many are the times that our spirits have aroused in a
joyful mood or a dance out of impulse for a job well done. It could be struggling
academically and finally graduating with honors. It could be spending many
months looking for a job and getting hired by one of the best companies in the
country or finally marrying the dream spouse! When a person is about to succeed
in something, there is a feeling of anticipation that usually comes. It can be a
wonderful experience full of joy or a horrible, hellish chamber full of uncertainty
and despair. This paper discusses how different characters in the short stories Araby
and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock are prisoners of anticipation. It shows how it
stifles the characters ability to live life to the fullest.
James Joyce published Araby in 1914 in his short story collection of Dubliners. It is
about an introverted young boy who is fumbling towards adulthood with an
infatuation towards a girl. However, there are many obstacles that stand before him
and the girl of his dream including his community and family. From the settings
description, the boy does not like his neighborhood. It is a

As a trumpeter a successful musical performance experience is the ultimate goal.
We spend countless hours trying to prefect our craft that at times can feel like a
futile endeavor. In our preparation for the perfect performance at times we forget to
address our greatest impediments that can take control of our performance. These
impediments vary greatly from person to person, but overall there seems to be some
commonality for most trumpeter as well as all brass players. Performance anxiety,
technical proficiency, endurance, preparation, and knowledge seems to be the most
common impediment to a successful performance for trumpet players.

Research Paper On Carl Knickerbocker
Carl Knickerbocker What is art? A question asked by many yet never answered.
Art is something one can not really reply without personal bias. Every human alive
has had experiences in life to form there like dislike and personal tastes. What one
finds beautiful another might not. When one views an exhibit what question
should one ask themselves? Let s explore Carl knickerbockers exhibit Incomplete
Guide to Suburban Primitive . Art in the past has been viewed as still portraits that
either show a important person of interest or complicated forms of landscapes, yet
carl knickerbockers art form is far from the usual in fact it is highly unique . His
works are a mixture of intense color in simple forms that show a story. For example
his piece called Puppet Master show cases a man in profile view with seven fingers....

piece he has in his exhibit is not an actual panting in canvas, but in fact statue. The

Kate The Great Analysis
Kate the Great by Meg Cabot reveals that people are not always the way they seem.
Kate makes a fantasy world about her life for Jenny to believe in her perspective.
Kate and Jenny have always been best friends ever since the two were young. The
both of them would always hang out with each other have sleepovers, go to the pool
together, the library, and went everywhere else together. They were inseparable as the
author said. Although, throughout all of their adventures Kate has been telling Jenny
about her experience in high school. Keep in mind that Kate is older by a couple of
years than Jenny, therefore, Kate has an influence on what to teach Jenny when she

The media will then be incubated par manufacturer instructions at various
temperature to allow bacteria growth before been counted. While some colonies
might be isolated others might still be clogged together. In these cases isolated and
clogged colonies will be counted as one. A measure of viable bacteria will then be
determined in (Colony Forming Unit/millilitre).
Some of these colonies might be identifiable visually due to their distinct colonies
morphologies, pigmentation, colouration and chemical metabolite. Other will be less
distinguishable, requiring further test.
To further enhance this method an indicator medium will also be used. These
medium changes colour during fermentation, an indication of pH change due to the
presence of acid forming species. Durham tubes will then be employed; when
inverted they catch gaseous bubble formed during fermentation. The gas produced at

Experimental Control
The experiment will be replicated and controlled to minimise any inaccuracies and
error. Distilled water will be used as negative control, while contaminated sample will
be the positive control to enable any discrepancies in the data to be highlighted.

Constructing a treatment and service plan for a client involves various components.
Prior to starting a treatment plan the professional should carry out a client evaluation.
The evaluation should determine the basis of the difficulty or issues and assess the
back ground of the client. After the completion of the evaluation, a professional can
start constructing an agreement to fulfill the needs of the client. The treatment plan
should include goals that relate to the difficulties and issues the client is

Summary Of The Magician, The Witch, And The Law
The Magician, the Witch, and the Law was a timeline of the people, events, and
documents that significantly influenced the development of magic and witchcraft
persecution. Edward Peters formed his timeline beginning with early Christianity and
ending with the sixteenth century. The study argued that these people, events, and
documents led to the persecution and burning of witches in the seventeenth century.
The timeline began with the explanation of harsh Greek and Roman laws against
magos. The laws were harsh because magicwas a disruption of society and the cause
of political instability (9). Magos were practitioners of magic or those who used the
power of divine or demonic sources. Christians were primarily concerned with first

Peters lays out three theories about why Philip IV persecuted the Templars. First,
for their money. Second, Philip wanted to be King of Jerusalem and give France to
his son. Third, Boniface VIII humiliated Philip when he accused Philip of crimes
against God. Philip did not believe that the Church who accused him was the real
Church. The false Church had false followers who practiced idolatry, the false
followers including the Templars. Philip wanted to eradicate this fake Church. The
Templar s trial was significant because magic and sorcery was viewed as idolatry;
sorcery and magic was an attack on Christianity. The idea of a vulnerable Church
continued into later centuries, which ultimately strengthened the Church by offsetting
the vulnerability. This showed that the courts were not beyond attacking the Pope or
other people in
The Memoir Of A Recovering Skinhead
In the Autobiography of a Recovering Skinhead, Frank met multiple people who
changed his life. For instance, his family had an impact on his life. His father had
not been there for him as he grew up, while his mother changed his last name to
hers so Frank would not know he was Irish. John s introduction into Frank s life
was what had truly ignited Frank s anger. John was his mother s new boyfriend,
who eventually married his mother and raised two children with her. He also beat
Frank as a child and would often call him stupid or mentally retarded. After for
what seemed like a while, John convinced Frank s mother to kick Frank out of the
house, which she has responded accordingly to. He leaves to live with his cousin
Shawn, who would introduce him to life as a skinhead. Shawn and his friends
introduced and taught Frank about neo nazi customs Frank became a skinhead.
Frank s cousin Nick was another huge element in his life, since he taught him
many life lessons. An example of such is seen when Frank joins and takes part in
Nick s crew, which Nick then explains to Frank that he cannot protect him despite
the fact that they are family. In addition to family, Frank also met more people that
changed his life during his time in an Illinois prison. For example, his best friends

Saint Emmanuel The Good Martyr Analysis
In Lasallian schools the core principle of concern for the poor and social justice
invites students and staff to be in solidarity with the poor and advocate for those
suffering injustices. This means that people should have awareness of the poor and
those who are victims of injustices and respond to their needs by means of
community service and advocacy. This core principle is illustrated in the novella,
Saint Emmanuel the Good, Martyr by Miguel de Unamuno. The main character,
Don Emmanuel is the parson of the city of Valverde. The congregation of this
parish look up to Don Emmanuel, admire him, and are overtaken by his words in
mass. However, the narrator reveals that Don Emmanuel was not a man of faith.
Metamorphosis by Kafka, presents a story of a young man who one day wakes up
and is transformed into a bug. As a result of this transformation, he is mistreated by
his familyand considered useless in society. In the case of Saint Emmanuel the Good
Martyr, there is a character that does not believe in God, yet practices concern for
the poor and social justiceon a daily basis. On the other hand, we have a character
that yearns what Don Emmanuel gives to the citizens in Valverde, care and
concern. Don Emmanuel is a living example of someone who follows the Lasallian
core principle of concern for the poor and social justice. Although Don Emmanuel is
a controversial character because he does not believe in God, I don t think this
makes concern and care for others

These are single devices which function by the use of a scanning laser beam to view
and map an area.
This works by use of a two dimensional sensing zone, this zone is programmable thus

Guards / Physical Barriers
The standard barrier used to prevent access to a robot consists of a perimeter fence
that is made from 2 m high rigid panels securely fastened to the floor or to some
convenient structure and positioned so that it is not possible to reach any dangerous
parts of machinery.
The possibility of component ejection should also be considered when designing this
type of barrier. Fixed transparent barriers may be adequate. For most purposes, a
hollow section steel framework in filled with mesh is satisfactory.
Where regular access is required, the fencing may be provided with sliding or hinged
interlocked access gates; and/or an opening protected by a trip device.
Brakes or hydraulic/pneumatic stop valves
Should be incorporated to prevent the robot from moving or cause the gripper to
release the load when power is removed. Such as that in the event of an emergency

Brakes should be provided where there is the danger of

The Efficacy Of Massage Therapy On Preterm Infants
The Efficacy of Massage Therapy on Preterm Infants Taryn L. Metz Winona State
University The Efficacy of Massage Therapy on Premature Infants According to
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (2013) 500,000 infants are affected
by preterm births each year. A preterm infant is born prior to 37 weeks of their
gestational age (Smith, 2012) and can be classified as very premature (less than 32
weeks gestation), premature (born between 32 and 34 weeks gestation) or late
premature (born between 34 and 37 weeks gestation) (Durham Chapman, 2010).

My dream is to not only promote healing for such vulnerable patients, but also inspire
hope in the families of these premature infants. I am continuously striving to become
the best nurse and patient advocate that I can be, by implementing more than just
conventional treatment within each of my patient s plan of care. My interest in the
use of alternative therapies led me to develop the following question: In hospitalized
preterm infants, does the use of massage therapy promote overall adaptation and
development? Massage therapy is defined as, a systematic touch by human hands,
which stimulates the tactile sense of the infant and which has been documented for
several decades to have a positive effect on both full term and preterm infants
(Abdallah et al., 2013, p. 663). The goal of this paper is to describe the transition from
intrauterine to extrauterine life and identify normal adaptation for the newborn and
how these adaptations can affect a preterm infants development, identify different
nonpharmacological interventions, including massage therapy and determine
whether these techniques are effective in promoting adaptation and development of
the preterm infant and if so, how do these therapies impact the preterm infant s
overall development. Throughout the human experience, one of the most complex
adaptations is the transition from intrauterine to

A common question asked by interagency partners is, What authorities are you

responsible. SOF has to be specific with authorities when briefing interagency

The core issue is over policy and operational activities but often disguised as legal
issues. At the strategic level, committees in congress debate over oversight. At the
operational level, military commanders and interagency leaders debate authorities and
permissions. At the tactical level, individuals debate operations.
At the strategic level, congress questions the specific activity to determine if it is title
10 or 50. The primary reason for debate is over oversight and funding. The 9/11
commission recommended congress instead question who is funding the activity and
exercising control. Oversight would then be directed to the congressional committee
corresponding with funding, direction and control. Congress has not enacted the 9/11
committee s recommendation continuing debate between congressional staffs.
At the operational level, military and interagency operations look similar in nature.
Their similarities lead to questions over authorities and debates into possible
infringement into the other s charter. Debates over authorities at the operational level
lead to inaction on the ground. I ve seen operations stop or prevented from occurring
because interagency partners would not allow SOF permission to conduct operations
because they did not have a clear understanding of the mission and authorities. SOF
leaders need to understand their authorities as well as their interagency partners to
communicate
Still Separate, Still Unequal By Jonathan Kozol
The essay Still Separate, Still Unequal , written by Jonathan Kozol, discusses the
actuality of intercity public school systems, and the isolation and segregation of
inequality that students must be subjected to in order to receive an education.
Jonathan Kozol illustrates the grim reality of the inequality that African American
and Hispanic children face within todays public education system. In this essay,
Kozol shows the reader, with alarming statistics and percentages, just how segregated
Americas urban schools have become. He also brings light to the fact that suburban
schools, with predominantly white students, are given far better funding and a much
higher quality education, than the poverty stricken schools of the urban
neighborhoods. Jonathan Kozol brings our attention to the obvious growing trend of
racial segregation within America s urban and inner city schools. He creates logical
support by providing frightening statistics to his claims stemming from his research
and observations of different school environments. He also provides emotional
support by sharing the stories and experiences of the teachers and students. His
credibility is established by the author of Rereading America by providing us with his
collegiate background. This is also created from his continual involvement with
isolated and segregated educational school systems and keeps tone sincerity
throughout his essay. Within the essay, Still Separate, Still Unequal, Jonathan Kozol

In this model, data is stored in sections of columns instead of rows. This is almost an
inverse of a relational model. The names of the column need not be predefined, i.e.

The Pros And Cons Of Human Trafficking
What is human trafficking? Human trafficking is a modern day slavery, which
involves the use of force, fraud, or obtaining some type of labor sex act. Every
year, thousands of women, men, and children in countries all over the world are
trafficked. Human trafficking is a hidden crime where victims hardly come forward
for help because of the language they speak, fear of the traffickers and the fear of
law enforcement. More borderregulation should be in place to reduce human
traffickingin the United Statesbecause the percent of victims are increasing every
year, it is the third largest international crime industry, and the impact it has on the
environment.
Every year, the percent of victims that are being trafficked increases. In the article,
56 Little Known Facts about Human Trafficking by Karin Lehnardt, Lehnardt
states, Nearly 80% of human trafficking is for sex, and 19% is for labor
exploitation. This quote means that almost 80% of human trafficking is for sex
and 19% of it is for labor exploitation. With this, nearly 99% of human trafficking is
for sex and labor exploitation. In the article, 11 Facts About Human Trafficking , it
states, According to the U.S. State Department, 600,000 to 800,000 people are
trafficked across international borders every year, of which 80% are female and
half are children. This quote states that every year about 80% of female and children
are being trafficked across the world.

Richard Rodriguez
Growing up, people realize that around the time of reaching a mature state, education
has affected their personal family life in one way or the other. With that being said,
in his essay, The Achievement of Desire , Richard Rodriguez headed towards a path
where he was unconsciously distancing himself from his familyand becoming much
more independent than he had expected. Rodriguez gives the reader a sentimental
idea of the two contrary lives he had growing up, the life he had as a child, and the
life he has as an educated man. He continued believing in his aspiration of how
benefits of education can remarkably outweigh the past struggles of both his family
and himself. Like Rodriguez, I also, in the past, found some form of solitude... Show

that father daughter connection with him that families normally have. As school
took up most of my time, my father and I never really had the time to have a heart

Fortunately, my story is not as melancholic as Rodriguez s because my father put an
effort into getting used to the ways and culture of America where he tried to keep at
least some form of relationship with me. Even though we speak in our own language
(he speaking in Bengali and I in English) when communicating with each other, my
father found a way not to alienate himself from his children. As for Rodriguez, it s
quite a depressing story, where he had that passionate relationship with his mother

During the pinnacle of his bittersweet life, Rodriguez eventually realized that he had
sacrificed one of the biggest things in life to do what is best for himself, his family.

production but also for water available to citizens as well as the other crops that
farmers are trying to grow.
Because almonds require so much water, it is putting other crops in a decline.

The almond industry is responsible for thousands of jobs and is a very big money
maker for the economy. If there aren t as many almonds produced, the income from
these nuts will drastically drop. Another factor is the nut itself changing. Water is a
huge challenge, said Richard Waycott, chief executive of the state almond board.
The stingy water supplies resulted in smaller almonds this year. (Pierson). People
love almonds for their size and health benefits. Almonds are an excellent source of
Vitamin E, B Vitamins, Magnesium, Fiber, Calcium, Potassium, Monounsaturated
Fat, and Protein (Almond Growth Explained). This is a reason why the export of
almonds overseas to other countries is a big deal. The health benefits are key to the
success of the almond. The expectations of farmers are high to produce enough
almonds to fulfill the growing demands. Even if the amount was the same, the size
of almonds would make a big difference in consumers buying them. Still, with
almond prices nearly doubling in the last five years to $2.58 a pound, it s little
wonder that growers have been abandoning crops such as cotton and furiously
planting almond trees.
The Effects Of Media Violence On Violent Entertainment
Discussion
The attraction or appeal of violence in media entertainment is a topic that has
received consistent but quiet academic attention, while the effects of media violence
continues to draw primary focus from the public and scholars alike. This
discrepancy perhaps lays in the difficulty of the question or rather the reality of the
question; how can the same people who develop, and by and large, abide by
established moral and criminal codes condemning violence choose to engage in
violent films, television programs and video games and actually enjoy it? Several
theories have been posited; some with more merit than others, since non fictional and
fictional violence first hit the small (and big) screen.
Research has shown that personality is a significant contributing factor to the
enjoyment of violent entertainment. This is an important finding as it not only
distinguishes between those who enjoy violent entertainment and those who do not
but also draws attention to the different reasons why different people enjoy violent
entertainment. The identification of trait aggression and anti social tendencies as
predictors for enjoyment of violent entertainment is especially important. Given the
widely accepted positive correlation between exposure to violent entertainment and
aggressive or violent behaviour the current finding should encourage further research
into practical and clinical recommendations to mediate the attractiveness of media
violence to people already
The ANC and PAC s Influence on the Fall ofo the
Apartheid...
Since its colonization by England and the Dutch, South Africa s government
struggled under power hungry colonial leaders and most recently under the white
dominated Apartheid regime. Before colonization, South Africa was ruled by
different tribes each having jurisdiction over their section of land. Eventually, South
Africalike so many other Africa countries, fell victim to European colonization. The
first European settlers were Dutch, who arrived in 1652 and worked for the Dutch
East India Company, whose main focuses were trade, exploration, and
colonization. In 1820 the British arrived and for years South Africa was suppressed
and ruled by Britain and the Dutch. Finally, South Africa gained independence on
May 31, 1910. The country was unified from its previous divided British colonies
and was now called the Union of South Africa, ruled by its minority white
population. In 1948, the National Party won the election and was lead by Daniel
Malan. Malan and the National Party installed the apartheid system, a word meaning
apartness, which segregated the country into blacks to whites. In 1950, Malan
created the Registration Act and which required everyone to classify according to
race, and African Americans were forced to live in separate cities and ostracized by
the white population. Through almost 50 years South Africa lived through a dark
stage while the rest of the world shunned them and the UN deemed the apartheid a
crime against humanity.
The Apartheid was finally
The Importance Of Informed Attivation And Qualitative...
Although it can be stated that participant observation and qualitative research overall
has some unfavourable parts which make it not the optimum research method for
making sure that informed consent is always respected for sociologists undertaking
qualitative research involving human participants from diverse social and cultural
groups (Dylan, 2017). One of these is especially present in fieldwork where
participant observationis being used as the main research method is both the length
and the cost of the research, this is because regular research is not being published
as well as a large cost of publishing their extensive works (Dylan, 2017).
Informed consent is the most important thing for sociologists undertaking qualitative
research. Informed consent is when multiple conditions are met, these conditions
are that an individual or a group of individuals must give their formal
acknowledgement and permission to start a relationship with a sociologist who is
doing qualitative research, secondly the individuals have to be a person or a group
of people who are reciprocal in the relationship, linking to the second point is the
last which is that an acceptable level of maturity has to be reached by both groups
to create a reciprocal relationship between the two parties (Miller, Frank et. al, 2009,
4 9). Specifically in the Pacific if these criteria are not met information can become
affected, when a special relationship where intimate details can be shared and not be
betrayed
Why Hazing Should Be Allowed In College
College life brings many thoughts to mindВ…friendships, football , pizza, late
nights, parties, fraternities, sororities, as well as racial discrimination, binge drinking,
hazing and dying. The latter part of this list may not come naturally to most people,
but they are frightening realities of the Greek system. Parents send their children to
college assuming they will be in a safe, educational environment while enjoying all
the benefits campus life has to offer, including fraternities and sororities. They do not
expect a phone call in the early hours of the morning notifying them of their child s
death. Since March of 2000, over 60 people have died in events associated with
fraternities, alcohol and/or hazing (Marklein p. A3).... Show more content on

A national survey of college students by Harvard researchers found that nearly half
of males and more than a third of females engage in binge drinking. Among Greek
students the numbers skyrocket: 86% of fraternity members and 80% of sorority
members living in chapter houses are likely to engage in binge drinking (Marklein).
The frequent focus fraternities and sororities place on alcohol encourages excessive
consumption, unfortunately causing the development of alcoholism and incidents of
alcohol poisoning. The term hazing is defined as any conduct or method of initiation
into any student organization, whether on public or private property, which willfully
or recklessly endangers the physical or mental health of any student or other person
(UMass). Whipping, beating, branding, forced calisthenics, exposure to the weather,
forced consumption of food, liquor, beverages, , brutal treatment, extended isolation,
sleep deprivation, and forced physical activities that adversely affect physical health
and safety are just some known acts of hazing that Greek members may force their
brothers and sisters to undergo. Imagine getting an update from your college student.
Your freshman son calls home, reporting he has just made the lacrosse team and is
excited to receive his fraternity pin the next day. The following morning the phone
rings, but it is not your beloved child. A policeman calls to inform you that your son
had just died of
Homerun Case Study Essay
1.What criteria should the HomeRun team use in selecting among the many strategic
possibilities for the company?
a.HomeRun team should focus on technology because a today s great business must
keep up with the continuously evolving of technology. Something great would be the
launch of an application that helps stay in touch with costumers. A company should
differentiate itself form others by providing something that intrigues people, and do
not provide only the classic channels of communications like emails. Moreover,
staying update on technology in a creative way will put a company in front of the
others.
2.Should HomeRun expand its merchant pages to allow merchants to run their own
deals, similar to the Groupon Stores idea, or should the company differentiate itself
by diving deeper into social gaming and membership rewards?
b.HomeRun should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Should HomeRun continue to diversify by entering the global market or concentrate
on national partnerships with large corporations?
c.HomeRun should partnership with corporations nationwide because it can get
many beneficial factors versus going global, which would be too risky at this time.
First of all HomeRun will increase its credibility just for doing business with well
known corporations. Therefore, it will bring more costumers because people will
take it seriously. Then, HomeRun could improve its channels of distribution and get
to the market faster. This could be a good test for its services.
4.Given the saturation in the market and difficulty maintain brand equity, does it
make sense to create a self service platform that other companies can use to run their
own proprietary deals?
d.HomeRun is going through some issues and the sutured market is not helping
either. The company will most likely need a products improvement in order to grow.
A self service platform could help rise the demand because businesses will have
freedom to manage their deals, and they will need to pay HomeRun the commission
The Difference Between The Women Situation Of Ireland
From...
Introduction
The aim of this report is to compare the difference between the women situation in
Ireland from the independence till the present day, how it changed during those years.
One of the biggest impacts to Irish society in the past 50 years has been the changing
the role of women, with more females participating in the workforce and more in
professional positions and this has caused relationship and family dynamics to shift.
Until the last few years of the twentieth century Ireland was the most sexually
repressed country in Europe, where women were classed as the second type citizens
and the Catholic Church ruled virtually unchallenged. Church and state maintained
that women should hold a certain morality, particularly relating to areas of sexuality
and reproduction. As a result, until relatively recently, Irish women s issues remained
largely ignored and therefore unremarked upon.
(Irish Constitution 1922)
One of the questions facing the Cosgrave government in 1922 with the establishment
of the Irish Free State was the role of women in the new State. The 1916
Proclamation of the Republic had claimed the allegiance of every Irishman and
Irishwoman and guaranteed equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens .
All had their hopes dashed. Both governments led by Cosgrave in the 1920s and
Fianna Fail governments led by de Valera in the 1930s enacted legislation depriving
women of a number of rights.
In 1924, the government proposed to exempt all
Age Of Expansion
The Age of Expansion
The age of European expansion and religious wars was a period that brought about
both breakdowns and reconstructions of society. Between the period 1450 1580
many civil wars, international wars occurred along with problems of overseas
expansion. International and civil wars led to serious problems for several different
countries.
To begin, there were several civil wars that took place between the time period of
1450 to 1580, to be specific a war that took place between Catholics and Calvinists.
France s economy could not hold the monarch s excessively expensive lifestyle. There
were two solutions that were supposed to fix this financial problem, however, one led
to the rampant war, the Concordat of Bologna, which was an agreement between the
monarchs and the Roman Catholic Church which gave the church power of the
universal council, and monarchs the right to choose the French bishops. This
failed disaster led to unqualified people earning the job of bishop, people left the
Roman Catholic Church and became Calvinists, on August 24, 1572, St
Bartholomew s Day a massacre occurred that really reached the true breaking point,
and launched a full, raging war, the War of the Three Henry s, which would go on
farther than 1580, only ending by the Edict of Nantes. After Charles the V abdicated
his seventeen provinces his son became the ruler of Spain, and his brother the Holy
Roman Empire. Philip II, Charles the V s son took away the Netherlands right to
make their own laws, imposed taxes on their trading, and prosecuted ... Show more

Informative Essay On Wright Flyer
Wilbur Wright invented The Wright Flyer on December 17,1903 in Kitty
Hawk,North Carolina. They went to Kitty Hawk because it had strong winds. In
59 seconds it flew 852 feet in the air. To make the airplane they tested birds on how
they flew and they angled there wings. They invented the airplane because they
heard of a German glider pilot Otto Lilienthal and he died in a glider crash and The
Wright Brothers were wanting to decide to start experimenting about flying in 1899.
The Wright brothers did not have any money to make the Wright flyer. They also
invented aircraft, and fixed wing aircraft. In 1905 they were proud of The Wright
Flyer because they sold a airplane to The United States Army. In 1900 and 1901 they

The Historical Role Reversal Between The Democratic
And...
The historical role reversal between the Democratic and Republican parties is a much
debated topic. There are questions on whether it actually did occur, if so, around what
time
period, and for what reasons. There, in fact, was a role reversal and it occurred
sometime
between the years 1928 and 1932. Reasons that may have sparked the switch could be
disagreement among party members, major issue disputes such as economy, rights, or
even
money, all of which are evident in today s society. Based on the research stated
throughout, the
most realistic reason that this phenomenon occurred was because of the failing
economy and
extremely poor leadership in the white house.
The economy in the 1930 s was in a depression, which was the worst depression that
the
United States has ever experienced. The stock market crashed, inflation was at an all
time high,
gas prices rose, unemployment was at nearly 25 percent, and the U.S. Dollar was
worth nearly
nothing. All of this followed by president Herbert Hoover who prolonged the
suffering of the
United States economy. The people in the extremely poor cities that could no longer
afford to
live in house or apartments became homeless and consequently built hoovervilles.
Hoovervilles
were large congregations of homeless people. After Hoover s term as president,
President
Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected and brought the economy back from the dead so
to say. FDR
proposed his new deal, which consisted of several
Bilingual Education In America
Dating back to the early 1600s, with the Mayflower voyage, America has always been
a nation built on immigration. As most foreigners during the late 1800s viewed
America as a prosperous country, a flood of tremendous immigrant populations
resulted in America becoming a melting pot. When this English focused nation upset
new citizens, a war over having bilingual educationsoon began. Bilingual education is
defined as teaching students in both English and their native language. In 1968, the
Bilingual Education Act, which recognized and offered education to students who
were lacking English, was passed, yet the topic still seems questionable to some. The
debate is wasteful, ironic, and hypocritical (Brisk1). Bilingual education provides a

Even though bilingual education can be costly, the future opportunities outweigh the
costs.
Overall, bilingual education should remain in the school system to save cultures,
benefit a student s emotional and physical needs, and economically improve America.
In the past, America served as a welcome to all immigrants, so the same principles
this country was founded on must endure. Without this program, foreign students will
struggle and may fall into adding onto the unemployment rates. While having many
options available, bilingual education will cause America to grow economically and
culturally, just as the
Organizational Data And Management System Essay
Abstract
Organizational data is increasingly prevalent due to the ease of collecting data from
several sources. Because so much data is now available and gathered, organizations
must set a data management system to clean then consolidate the data to give users
clear insight into the organization s behavior. To implement such a system requires
the collaboration of both the business manager and the business s IT organization.
The IT organization must have a clear understanding of the data standards and data
model that the manager requests to correctly implement it. Furthermore, the IT
organization must determine how the system should be designed to match the data
needs of the organization. Alongside the IT team, the business manager must address
several issues concerning the system, including how the data should be organized,
collected, and distributed. The business manager is also responsible for ensuring the
quality of the data gathered and how to address any technical issues that arise, as
well as oversee the support for any transitions to updated software, so that data is not
lost. Keywords: data management, data model, data management design, database

Applied Behavior Analysis Examples

The Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis has published many studies that use
behavioral analytic procedures in combination with sport psychology, also referred to

been incorporated in individualized behavior change programs intervening on
improving sport skills and performance among athletes. Methods such as shaping,
goal setting, behavior skills training, performance feedback, and modelling will be

According to studies conducted by Harrison Pyles (2013) and Tai Miltenberger
(2017), some of the targeted participants or groups of interest in this field include
young male football athletes ranging between 10 to 17 years of age. Interventions
for these participants were typically conducted on football fields either independent
of or during regularly schedules practice times, thus serving as complex immediate
environments where targeted behaviors are most likely to occur (Harrison Pyles,
2013; Tai Miltenberger, 2017). The socially significant behaviors of these studies
were to improve safety skills and effectiveness of football players through shaping
and incorporating BST to train safe tackling techniques. According to Harrison Pyles
(2013), to strengthen the dependent variable, tackling, it was ideal to consider
training aspects of correct tackling such as angles, making contact with face mask and
shoulders, using one s arms and feet to stop the players motions, and lastly bringing
the player down. Thus, following shaping procedures as those mentioned above while
using instruction, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback all components of BST,
execution of appropriate tackling techniques will

Tenebrism In 1600s
Art plays a big role in history, and continues to be a big part of every culture in the
world. Art gives everyone a way to express themselves whether it is a personal
reason, or about society in general. In each century a new way of creating art was
introduced and is respected to the day and still practiced. Tenebrism was
introduced in the Baroque era of the 1600 s. This is an art form related to realism
that was mastered, before tenebrism was later seen. The start of this art form came
about, because of what was happening in society in the 1600 s. In the Baroque era
there was a guy named, Caravaggio, who is considered the founder of the art of
tenebrism. The art of tenebrism tells the history of Europe with using light and dark
colors in the paints for adding effects for the viewers. This started in Rome when the
problem of different churches started to branch off of the Catholic Church. These
religious consisted of Lutherans and Protestants were the main ones, and became a
huge problem for the Catholic Church, because up until then that was the major big
religion. Tenebrism was used mostly as propaganda in an effort to get people to

  • 2. Why Actin Is A Protein Of Any Cell Actin Introduction: Proteins are the primary functionary macromolecules of any cell due to their vast variety in function, which is a result of their amount of varying forms, and they are polymers composed of amino acids. These functions include transportation, structural support, motility, gene regulation, signal carrying and receiving, storage, and catalyzing reactions; these functions are determined by the form of the protein. It follows then that the many functions of proteins come from their multitude of forms and their multiple levels of structure which are as follows: primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary. The primary structure is most basic chain or sequence of amino acids that accumulate into the alpha helices and beta sheets which compose the secondary structure of a protein. The tertiary structure is a complete and three dimensional polypeptide chain containing the secondary structures, folds, coils, loops, and such that form a globular form. Quaternary structure is a single protein formed by multiple polypeptide chains or multiple tertiary structures. General Information on Actin: Actin is a protein of moderate size that was discovered in an extraction of rabbit muscle tissue by Bruno Ferenc Straub. Actin is the component of actin filaments which are a major component in the cytoskeleton. This actin cytoskeleton that structurally supports the cell membrane is quite important to the morphology of a cell due to its spread, abundance, and general size; it can

In the context of Jamaica Kincaid s A Small Place knowledge could be defined as a set of proficiencies or expertise attained through experience and education and power as a control of one s own circumstances. While knowledge and power are individually definable, they do not exist in isolation. Knowledge and power are mutually constitutive to one another. In her aggressive and expository essay, Kincaid successfully demonstrates through the use of several examples, that knowledge, which is a necessary precursor to power, is severely lacking in Antigua, which in turn limits the power Antiguans hold over their own society. Kincaid begins by pointing out to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And it must not be forgotten, that knowledge also includes an understanding of one s own culture, nation, and personal history which might be represented by a public monument. Yet Antigua lacks all of these marks that may indicate to a vacationer, that there, knowledge dwells. Then Kincaid abruptly and sarcastically shifts the subject to the beauty of an island. What does a lack of education, medical and technological advance, and culture matter in an island so beautiful? Why would you, a tourist, care about the absence of knowledge in your vacation destination? Kincaid successfully points out in a mordant tone that, absurdly, a lack of knowledge in Antigua is considered unimportant in wake of the tourist attracting splendor of the island. Kincaid continues using the perspective of the tourist to mark the absence of knowledge by discussing the cars driven by Antiguans. She writes that you, the tourist, notice that all the cars you see are brand new...but they have an awful sound. (6) She continues to explain this predicament when Kincaid s tourist thinks, It s because they use leaded gasoline in these brand new cars whose engines were built to use non leaded gasoline, but you musn t ask the person driving the car if this is so, because he or she has never heard of unleaded gasoline. (6) Kincaid directly points out that Antiguans are unfamiliar with the concept of non leaded gasoline something that is common knowledge to the
  • 4. Daemon s Personality And Identity In The Golden Compass In The Golden Compass, daemons act as an extension or real life manifestation of someone s consciousness or soul. They take physical form as animals, revealing information about the character s personality and identity. Daemons are always by your side, basically like wearing your heart on your sleeve. It is more than just a soul however, a daemon is also like a friend/extension of yourself that you can talk to as a friend wherever you go. You can talk to your own daemon like you talk to yourself, so daemons have a very close connection with its owner . Everyone has one, but children s daemons tend to switch around as they go through puberty, which is a pretty good representation of how the teenage/child soul can fluctuate wildly at the age period.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Daemons can tell us a lot about someone s personality similar people have similar daemons. For example, servants have dog daemons, which denotes loyalty. Witches all have bird daemons, probably because they both fly. We can decipher some underlying information about a character by examining their daemon, because they are all representative of the consciousness and feelings of its owner. For example, Mrs. Coulter has a golden monkey for a daemon, which denotes beauty from the gold, but potentially mischievous intentions from the monkey. Lord Asriel has a snow leopard for a daemon, which reflects his power, coldness, and potential aggressiveness. The interaction between two character s daemons can be representative of how those two characters will interact
  • 5. California Floristic Province Essay The California Floristic Province. The California Floristic Province, is the only hot spot that occurs largely in the United States; it is home to exceptionally high plant diversity and varieties of habitat. Stretching along the west coast starting in southwestern Oregon, it covers 70% of the State of California, and into northwestern Baja California, Mexico. Why is California Floristic Province a hotspot? According to the BBC, of nearly 2,000 of the plant species found in the province, are found nowhere else in the world, in addition, the hotspot is also home to two spectacular endemic tree species, the giant Sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum), and the coastal Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens). One thing than can be done, besides educating the public and lobbying the politicians, is to take legal actions against individual decision makers who cause distraction of the environment through their legislature. In other words, if a XYZ Corp. purchases a land for development, which is a recognized habitat to endangered species, it might be more effective to target the individuals within the company, rather than the company itself. On top of that, a negative publicity campaign, employing the social media, might be effective too.

Jupiter has the largest planetary atmosphere in the Solar system. The composition of the atmosphere is mainly molecular hydrogen and helium. Although water exists deep in the atmospherelayer, the concentration is comparatively very small. (Mahaffy et al., 1998) Until now, there have been no satellites sent on to the Jupiter. Only eight spacecraft sent to bring back information. The eight spacecraft were Pioneer 10, Pioneer 11, Voyager 1, Voyager 2, Galileo, Ulysses, Cassini, and New Horizons. (Tritonfun, 2008) Among these eight spacecraft, five of them are from NASA. For this mission, an artificial manufactured satellite that functions as an orbiter will be send to the orbit of the Jupiter to study its enormous atmosphere and the weather on the Jupiter. Main Section Mission Profile: The destination of the spacecraft is the orbital that above the Jupiter s atmosphere. The spacecraft will be function as an orbiter. It will orbit with the Jupiter in a 10 hours period, which is the rotation period of the Jupiter. No probe will be used for this mission owing to the reason that there is no solid surface on the Jupiter. The focus of the mission will be on the troposphere layer of the atmosphere, and the surface of Jupiter. The goal of the orbiter is to monitor the temperature and pressure conditions, and the chemistry and

Divyakala, B.Tech (ECE), 3rd Year, IIITDM, Jabalpur, MP ( divyakalav@gmail.com, vdivyakala@iiitdmj.ac.in) B. M. Mehtre, Associate Professor, IDRBT, Road No.1, Castle Hills, Masab Tank, Hyderabad 500057, (Mehtre@idrbt.ac.in ) Abstract: Denial of Service (DoS) is a major threat in every type of Computer Network, including Internet, Cloud Services and Sensor Networks. In this paper we propose novel Security Metrics to compute the severity and impact of a Denial of Service (DoS) attack, which helps to accurately and precisely estimate the monetary loss incurred by an organization. These metrics are quantitative in nature and map Quality of Service (QoS) requirements into measurable and acceptable threshold parameters. The test results of the application of these metrics using Network Simulator are presented. The work for implementation of these metrics in Network Management Systems (NMS) and Visualization tools is in progress. Key Words: Security Metrics, Denial of Service, Network Attack 1.INTRODUCTION Metrics are scales of measurement used for improvement and scientific decision making. Security metrics are useful for quantitatively measuring an organization s security level or of security vulnerabilities of an entity. For comprehensive network security and Cyber Situational Awareness Management, security metrics play significant role as proactive protection measures rather than reactive analysis

Guidelines For Format And Content Of The Thesis GUIDELINES FOR FORMAT AND CONTENT OF THE DISSERTATION CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY Background The accounting profession was founded on the basis of public trust; the public must have confidence in the services provided by public accountants. Scholars agree accounting ethics education is one way to solidify public trust in the accounting profession. (Mastracchio Jr, JimГ©nez Angueira, Toth, 2015). Furthermore, accountants need to have the ability to recognize moral issues that happen in business circumstances and the skill of judgment to determine alternatives for resolving ethical predicaments. Ethical standards apply to all accountants who enter the profession. The nature of accounting work, as it relates to decision making, and its impact on businesses and stakeholders, requires the highest level of ethics. Accordingly, accountants must possess a dual competency of technical skills and knowledge and the ability to take ethical actions within accounting decisions. Statement of the Problem Accounting graduates are likely to encounter ethical situations in the workforce; however, ethics instruction in universities is inadequate and accounting graduates are ill prepared to handle ethical duties of complex, modern business organizations and transactions. The drive for high profit and high stock prices can tempt management to falsify or hide financial information from other stakeholders. Intense competitiveness and uncertainties of the global marketplace can force accountants to consider decisions to either benefit or to harm stakeholders. Accounting graduates must be able to consider the ethical implications of accounting decision making as well understand, apply and implement the rules and regulations of the accounting profession, which

  • 10. Ronald Reagan And Terrorism Essay Ronald Reagan was fond of quoting John Adams, who famously said: Facts are stubborn things. So when Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif made public pronouncements about fighting extremism, the facts show that his comments are ironic at best and little more than insincere propaganda. The fact is that Iran is the leading state sponsor of terrorism, with government officials directly responsible for numerous terrorist attacks since 1979. These include suicide bombings of the U.S. Embassy in Beirut and the Marine barracks at Beirut International Airport; the bombing of Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia in 1996; attacks against more than a dozen embassies in Iran, including those of Britain, the U.S. and Saudi Arabia; and the assassination of diplomats ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... last year, Iranian leaders have taken to pointing fingers at others to assign blame for the regional problems that they helped create. But before buying into their rhetoric, consider a few questions: Which country issues a fatwa for the execution of author Salman Rushdie, a death threat that is still in force today? (Iran.) What country has attacked more than a dozen embassies inside its own territory in violation of all international laws? (Iran.) What country managed, planned and executed the 1996 attack in Khobar Towers against the American Marines? (Iran.) Do these answers describe a country that is serious about combating terrorism and extremism? The rest of the Islamic world has unanimously condemned Iran s behavior. In Istanbul in April, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation formally rejected and deplored Iran s policies of sectarianism, interference in the affairs of others and support for terrorism. Saudi Arabia is a leader in the war against terrorism. My country brought the world together for an international conference in 2005 to align nations in the fight against terrorism. • 11. Gaius Cassius Longinu Part in the Assissination of Julius... Cassius, full name Gaius Cassius Longinus, was recalled as a good soldier with a terrible temper and in politics, irrational and drowned by vanity. In his time he was a Roman senator, also known by his part taking in the assassination of Julius Caesar. In his early years, he studied philosophy under Archelaus, and was fluent in Greek. His wife, Junia Tertia was the half sister of co conspirator Brutus. Cassius served under Crassus, He took part in saving Remnants of the Roman army against the Parthians and even repelled attacks from the Parthians on Syria. Through this, it is easy to tell that Cassius must have been a successful military leader. Too bad his choices in military didn t rub off on his morales, he was being tried for extortion in Syria but the civil war dispute between Julius Caesar and the Optimates saved him from being imprisoned. Further use of his brilliant military strategy lead him to becoming Julius Caesars legate. This leading further into his friendship with Julius. Year forty four and Cassius success continued to climb, he had become praetor peregrinus, and elected magistrate, he was promised the governorship of Syria. While Cassius was given praetor peregrinus, Julius appointed Marcus Brutus as praetor urbanus, a less prestigious position. This greatly angered Brutus leading him to become one of the most active conspirators in the assassination of Julius Caesar. Caesar says this of Cassius, He reads much; he is a great observer and he
  • 12. Essay On Super Cam Bradly VanCamp Super Cam Anyone that enjoys football enjoys the excitement that comes with the game. A lot of the excitement that comes with football is the touchdowns. After touchdowns, it has become customary to celebrate. These celebrations have become more tame over the years, thanks to Commissioner Roger Goodell and his anti fun ways. Long gone are the days of using the pylon to play miniature golf or stashing a cell phone under the goal post and making a phone call. The most extreme celebration one will see nowadays is a little dance or giving the football to a kid in the crowd. Unfortunately, the media and many other people are trying to make big deal about Cam Newton celebrating his touchdowns with his signature superman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The media does not like the idea of someone other than Tom Brady or Peyton manning dominating the quarterback position, especially a black quarterback. It is time for the media to move into 2015 like the rest of the world is. In order for Cam Newton to get the respect he deserves, the media has to learn to accept that Cam is here to stay and is an elite talent. How many teams are still undefeated in the NFL this season? There is only one and it just so happens to be Cam Newton s Panthers. With the season that Cam has had, he should be a near lock for MVP, but the media still keeps bringing up other names like Tom Brady. What people fail to realize is that Newton is putting up these numbers with very few receivers. Ted Ginn is the number one receiver for the Panthers and he has never been more than a number three option in his career. Newton does have a great tight end in Greg Olson, but for the most part is single handedly carrying this team with his legs and his arm. It is time for Newton to be put in the positive spotlight. Super Cam is good for the NFL and good for the African American community. He broke the mold and proved that an African American can be a great quarterback in the NFL and have a ton of fun while doing it. Next time you see number 1 flashing that contagious smile and celebrating a big touchdown, embrace it because we are witnessing something
  • 13. The Third Estate And The French Revolution Before the revolution, French society was divided into three estates or orders. The Third Estate was by far the largest of these, containing around 27 million people or 98 per cent of the nation. The Third Estate included every French citizen who did not possess a noble title and was not ordained by the church. As might be expected within such a large group, the Third Estate was marked by considerable diversity. It housed many different classes and levels of wealth; many different professions and ideas; rural, urban and provincial people alike. Members of the Third Estate ranged from lowly beggars and struggling peasants to urban artisans and labourers; from the shopkeepers and commercial middle classes to the nation s wealthiest merchants... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the apex of the Third Estate s social hierarchy was the bourgeoisie, or capitalist middle classes. The bourgeoisie were business owners and professionals who had acquired enough wealth to live comfortably. There was also diversity within their ranks. The so called petit bourgeoisie ( petty or small bourgeoisie ) were small scale traders, landlords, shopkeepers and managers. The haute bourgeoisie ( high bourgeoisie ) were wealthy merchants and traders, colonial landholders, industrialists, bankers and financiers, tax farmers and trained professionals like doctors and lawyers. The bourgeoisie flourished during the 1700s, on the back of France s economic growth, modernisation, increased production, imperial expansion and foreign trade. The haute bourgeoisie rose from the middle classes to become independently wealthy, well educated and ambitious. As their wealth increased, so did their desire for social status and political representation. Many bourgeoisie craved entry into the Second Estate. They had enough money to acquire the costumes, trappings and grand residences of the noble classes, however they lacked their titles, privileges and prestige. The wealthiest of the bourgeoisie could buy their way into the nobility through venal offices, though by the 1780s this was becoming frightfully

So, Billy walked up to the plate and started the at bat. Before he started to hit, he walked over to the third base coach. He asked, What should I do? The base coach, George, said, Don t worry! Just stay calm and let the bat do the work. The first pitch was a 74 mph fastball that whizzed by him for the first strike. Man, he pitches fast! Billy thought. The next pitch was also right down the middle, just a little slower, but had slowed down enough that that he swung and missed by a mile, being way ahead. He thought, Yikes! I need to step up my game a couple notches. The next pitch was outside, maybe to try and throw him off. The count was now 1 and 2. Billy was determined to make the big hit happen. The next pitch was a slow pitch right up the middle, and he knew it was now or never. To say the least, he crushed that ball, though not as high as he would have preferred. Billy practically screamed, Home run! but its trajectory kept getting lower and lower in the sky until he realized he needed to run a lot faster, or he had no chance at the big one. It would have been an easy double for a slow kid, and said no. At his speed, it would not have been a hard triple, but again, he would have refused to stop at anything short of a home run. As he rounded second and headed towards third, he saw the

People think tennis is on the right track by giving equal prize money to both male and females and giving both genders equal opportunity in television and media coverage but the fact remains that tenniswouldn t fully be there until they take that one step and drop the racism. This may seem like an impossible task but with lots of joint effort with the general public, fans and the people involved in the sport racism can be decreased. Tennis is a predominantly white sport and with the success of the Williams sister s barriers have begun to dissolve but it s still an issue that needs fixing. Tennis has a long standing history that like many other sports has been around for a long time. There is thin evidence to suggest that tennis has been around for thousands of years suggesting that the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans had played it (Barzum). However, for many tennis is known to have really begun in London in 1874 Major Walter C. Wingfield patented the game of tennis (Barzum). That same year saw the tournament at Wimbledon be played for the first time but at this time it was only men that were allowed to participate. Ten years later in 1884 women were finally able to participate at Wimbledon (Barzum). Tennis 100 percent a white mans sport until 1968 the beginning of the open era of tennis when

Dancing Into The World Of Discourse Communities Essay Dancing into the World of Discourse Communities Prior to entering this English class, I never knew there was a such thing as a discourse community. Reading assigned articles and doing research of my own, I discovered that I too was a part of many discourse communities. While in high school, I was a part of many student and national organizations, as well as schoolwide clubs, and teams. Although they had different purposes, the organizations, clubs, and teams that I was a part of had the same type of layout. They all had a common goal, participatory mechanisms, information exchange, specific genres of the community, specialized terminology, and levels of expertise. There is in one in particular that I have been involved in for most of my life, the dancecommunity, that has not been recognized for its worth. When I first started dancing, I did ballet, tap, and jazz, but when I got into high school, I started doing majorette also called band dancing. In the last decade, society has erupted in controversy over aquariums and it has driven both aquarium workers and consumers to speak up on the issue of the cruelty that animals placed in these situations have faced. On average, one aquarium has opened each year for the past 12 years, a 50 percent increase over the 25 accredited aquariums that existed prior to 1990 (Savoye). However, in aquariums and theme parks like SeaWorld, these marine animals are forced to live in small, unnatural spaces that cause them distress. (See Figure 1). As a result, their personalities and temperaments will change and it can have deadly consequences. When discussing Tilikum, John Jett, a scientist and former SeaWorld trainer says, There s no place to swim and not much to do. His teeth cause infections. He s sunburned. He s bullied. Given his boring life and ill health, it comes as no surprise that he killed (Tocco). While SeaWorld workers may claim that the whales that are put into captivity are not subjected to harm and are given plenty of room to roam, there is no justification behind forcing these animals to live in solitude. For such intelligent and social creatures, living this way goes against their very nature. Additionally, aquariums have adopted many disturbing practices that include tearing calves away from their mothers and transferring them to different theme parks. In the wild, orcas tend to live in pods, which can have up to 30 whales, that will travel together for their entire lives. The experience of having it s calf taken away is extremely traumatic for both the mother and the calf, given that in the wild the calf rarely leaves its mother s side. A former diver named Crowe told Cowperthwaite that he kidnapped baby whales for shipment to

Goddard s liquid fueled rocket reached an altitude of 41 feet, lasted 2 seconds and averaged about 60 miles per hour and relied on a combination of gasoline and liquid oxygen that had two lines run into the combustion chamber. To overcome the high temperatures required for the combustion of pure oxygen, Goddard designed the extremely cold liquid oxygen to cool the combustion chamber as it traveled from the fuel tank, a method still used today. The feeling one gets in succeeding puts a smile on the faces of many. Many are the times that our spirits have aroused in a joyful mood or a dance out of impulse for a job well done. It could be struggling academically and finally graduating with honors. The timeline began with the explanation of harsh Greek and Roman laws against magos. The laws were harsh because magicwas a disruption of society and the cause of political instability (9). • 28. Saint Emmanuel The Good Martyr Analysis In Lasallian schools the core principle of concern for the poor and social justice invites students and staff to be in solidarity with the poor and advocate for those suffering injustices. This means that people should have awareness of the poor and those who are victims of injustices and respond to their needs by means of community service and advocacy. This core principle is illustrated in the novella, Saint Emmanuel the Good, Martyr by Miguel de Unamuno. The main character, Don Emmanuel is the parson of the city of Valverde. The congregation of this parish look up to Don Emmanuel, admire him, and are overtaken by his words in mass. However, the narrator reveals that Don Emmanuel was not a man of faith. Metamorphosis by Kafka, presents a story of a young man who one day wakes up and is transformed into a bug. As a result of this transformation, he is mistreated by his familyand considered useless in society. In the case of Saint Emmanuel the Good Martyr, there is a character that does not believe in God, yet practices concern for the poor and social justiceon a daily basis. On the other hand, we have a character that yearns what Don Emmanuel gives to the citizens in Valverde, care and concern. Don Emmanuel is a living example of someone who follows the Lasallian core principle of concern for the poor and social justice. Although Don Emmanuel is a controversial character because he does not believe in God, I don t think this makes concern and care for others

Throughout his life, Michael also struggled with Body Dysmorphic Disorder, which means that he viewed himself and his body in a defected and morphed way. Michael may have developed this disorder because he was diagnosed with vitiligo, which is a loss of pigmentation in the skin. With that being said, in his essay, The Achievement of Desire , Richard Rodriguez headed towards a path where he was unconsciously distancing himself from his familyand becoming much more independent than he had expected. Rodriguez gives the reader a sentimental idea of the two contrary lives he had growing up, the life he had as a child, and the life he has as an educated man. He continued believing in his aspiration of how benefits of education can remarkably outweigh the past struggles of both his family and himself. According to the National Writing Project, 70 percent of almonds are exported to other countries. They can be used for milk, baking, or just flavoring up any dish. Almonds are produced in sunny California. Unfortunately, California has been suffering through an atrocious drought. Almonds use a great amount of water to grow, approximately 1 gallon. (Philpott) The drought is a bad thing for almond production but also for water available to citizens as well as the other crops that farmers are trying to grow. Because almonds require so much water, it is putting other crops in a decline. (Philpott). According to the article, How Almonds Became a Scapegoat... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The almond industry is responsible for thousands of jobs and is a very big money maker for the economy. If there aren t as many almonds produced, the income from these nuts will drastically drop. Another factor is the nut itself changing. Water is a huge challenge, said Richard Waycott, chief executive of the state almond board. The stingy water supplies resulted in smaller almonds this year. (Pierson). People love almonds for their size and health benefits. Almonds are an excellent source of Vitamin E, B Vitamins, Magnesium, Fiber, Calcium, Potassium, Monounsaturated Fat, and Protein (Almond Growth Explained). This is a reason why the export of almonds overseas to other countries is a big deal. The health benefits are key to the success of the almond. The expectations of farmers are high to produce enough almonds to fulfill the growing demands. Even if the amount was the same, the size of almonds would make a big difference in consumers buying them. Still, with almond prices nearly doubling in the last five years to $2.58 a pound, it s little wonder that growers have been abandoning crops such as cotton and furiously planting almond trees.
  • 41. The Effects Of Media Violence On Violent Entertainment Discussion The attraction or appeal of violence in media entertainment is a topic that has received consistent but quiet academic attention, while the effects of media violence continues to draw primary focus from the public and scholars alike. This discrepancy perhaps lays in the difficulty of the question or rather the reality of the question; how can the same people who develop, and by and large, abide by established moral and criminal codes condemning violence choose to engage in violent films, television programs and video games and actually enjoy it? Several theories have been posited; some with more merit than others, since non fictional and fictional violence first hit the small (and big) screen. Research has shown that personality is a significant contributing factor to the enjoyment of violent entertainment. This is an important finding as it not only distinguishes between those who enjoy violent entertainment and those who do not but also draws attention to the different reasons why different people enjoy violent entertainment. The identification of trait aggression and anti social tendencies as predictors for enjoyment of violent entertainment is especially important. Given the widely accepted positive correlation between exposure to violent entertainment and aggressive or violent behaviour the current finding should encourage further research into practical and clinical recommendations to mediate the attractiveness of media violence to people already

Eventually, South Africalike so many other Africa countries, fell victim to European colonization. The first European settlers were Dutch, who arrived in 1652 and worked for the Dutch East India Company, whose main focuses were trade, exploration, and colonization. Malan and the National Party installed the apartheid system, a word meaning apartness, which segregated the country into blacks to whites. In 1950, Malan created the Registration Act and which required everyone to classify according to race, and African Americans were forced to live in separate cities and ostracized by the white population. • 43. The Importance Of Informed Attivation And Qualitative... Although it can be stated that participant observation and qualitative research overall has some unfavourable parts which make it not the optimum research method for making sure that informed consent is always respected for sociologists undertaking qualitative research involving human participants from diverse social and cultural groups (Dylan, 2017). One of these is especially present in fieldwork where participant observationis being used as the main research method is both the length and the cost of the research, this is because regular research is not being published as well as a large cost of publishing their extensive works (Dylan, 2017). Informed consent is the most important thing for sociologists undertaking qualitative research. Informed consent is when multiple conditions are met, these conditions are that an individual or a group of individuals must give their formal acknowledgement and permission to start a relationship with a sociologist who is doing qualitative research, secondly the individuals have to be a person or a group of people who are reciprocal in the relationship, linking to the second point is the last which is that an acceptable level of maturity has to be reached by both groups to create a reciprocal relationship between the two parties (Miller, Frank et. al, 2009, 4 9). Specifically in the Pacific if these criteria are not met information can become affected, when a special relationship where intimate details can be shared and not be betrayed

Introduction The aim of this report is to compare the difference between the women situation in Ireland from the independence till the present day, how it changed during those years. One of the biggest impacts to Irish society in the past 50 years has been the changing the role of women, with more females participating in the workforce and more in professional positions and this has caused relationship and family dynamics to shift. Until the last few years of the twentieth century Ireland was the most sexually repressed country in Europe, where women were classed as the second type citizens and the Catholic Church ruled virtually unchallenged. Church and state maintained that women should hold a certain morality, particularly relating to areas of sexuality and reproduction. As a result, until relatively recently, Irish women s issues remained largely ignored and therefore unremarked upon. (Irish Constitution 1922) One of the questions facing the Cosgrave government in 1922 with the establishment of the Irish Free State was the role of women in the new State. The 1916 Proclamation of the Republic had claimed the allegiance of every Irishman and Irishwoman and guaranteed equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens . All had their hopes dashed. Both governments led by Cosgrave in the 1920s and Fianna Fail governments led by de Valera in the 1930s enacted legislation depriving women of a number of rights. In 1924, the government proposed to exempt all

To begin, there were several civil wars that took place between the time period of 1450 to 1580, to be specific a war that took place between Catholics and Calvinists. France s economy could not hold the monarch s excessively expensive lifestyle. There were two solutions that were supposed to fix this financial problem, however, one led to the rampant war, the Concordat of Bologna, which was an agreement between the monarchs and the Roman Catholic Church which gave the church power of the universal council, and monarchs the right to choose the French bishops. There are questions on whether it actually did occur, if so, around what time period, and for what reasons. There, in fact, was a role reversal and it occurred sometime between the years 1928 and 1932. Reasons that may have sparked the switch could be disagreement among party members, major issue disputes such as economy, rights, or even money, all of which are evident in today s society. Based on the research stated throughout, the most realistic reason that this phenomenon occurred was because of the failing economy and extremely poor leadership in the white house. The economy in the 1930 s was in a depression, which was the worst depression that the United States has ever experienced. The stock market crashed, inflation was at an all time high, gas prices rose, unemployment was at nearly 25 percent, and the U.S. Dollar was worth nearly nothing. All of this followed by president Herbert Hoover who prolonged the suffering of the United States economy. The people in the extremely poor cities that could no longer afford to live in house or apartments became homeless and consequently built hoovervilles.
