Victoria s Secret Ads
Imagine a collection so wild, so versatile, so sexy, every body shape becomes perfect. The Victoria s
Secret Brand founded by Roy Raymond has taken over millions of store in the U.S. world and can be
seen through many commercials, billboards, and magazine advertisements. The Company specializes
in lingerie, intimate apparels, swimwear, sleepwear, beauty products, and etcetera. The brand was
created for women to feel beautiful, sexy and confident behind close door for personal reasons and to
also feel upper class elite, because the brand itself is known for having high quality material and being
very expensive. The world s best bras. The sexiest lingerie. The most beautiful supermodels. Discover

The company has invested in some of the most beautiful women in the world such as Heidi Klum,
Adriana Lima, Gisele Budchen and many more to show off their beautiful sleek bodies in the brand s
garment. They are mostly targeted at middle class women because they are at the age where they have
a good amount of money to splurge on but it is not too expensive, like a designer brand such as
Michael Kors or Louis Vuitton. It is also a prime time to try new things with their partner by being
able to dress up seductively. The middle class men are also targeted as well, because like the middle
class women, they also can afford the Victoria s Secret brand and they can surprise their ladies with a
special something. When walking into a bra and underwear store as a guy, the employees make the
men feel comfortable and are helpful because they understand that they are not coming in for
themselves, creating an unembarrassed atmosphere. Within the Victoria s Secret Brand, they have a
line call PINK, where it attracts more of the younger, college crowd with their bright casual attire, and
trendy designs of apparel and accessories. This branches out to a bigger crowd that will make their
brand more popular due to the large crowd. Living the fantasy is what Jack Solomon s Masters of

Frances Perkins Influence On Women
Frances Perkins was one of the most influential women of the twentieth century, yet she is not really a
house hold name. Perkins was named Secretary of Labor by Franklin Roosevelt in 1933. As the first
Female Cabinet secretary, she spearheaded the fight to improve the lives of American working people.
Perkin s ideas became the cornerstone of the most important social welfare legislation in the nation s
history, including unemployment compensation, child labor laws, the forty hour work week, and
Social Security. Born Fannie Coralie Perkins in Boston, Massachusetts in 1880, Frances Perkins came
from a respectable upper middle class republican family. By 1882, her parents Frederick and Susan

Security to prepare legislation for Congress. He appointed Frances Perkins as its Chair. On January

days later, FDR unveiled the Social Security program and sent it to Congress. On August 14th 1935,
the president signed the Social Security Act. Later that day, the Washington Post proclaimed that the
Social Security Act was the New Deal s Most Important Act...Its importance cannot be exaggerated

although it has been changed numerous of times, a change which FDR and Perkins knew was bound
to occur with passing years. Its change has only being to, Lawrence O Donnell, preserve the long term
solvency of Social Security as a self financing system. The program has being the setting stone of
other social programs such as Medicare.
Among other important programs that were added to the New Deal was another one which today is

Owning A Pit Bull Essay
Owning A Pit Bull
Own a Good Dog Own A Pit Bull
There are many different qualities to consider when choosing a dog. Pit Bulls have all the qualities
needed to become a great companion. Although, if you treat them wrong when they re growing up
there is a good chance they will get out of control. If you raise them right you will have one of the best
dogs ever. For example my friend had a Pit Bull that he would hit for no reason and one day the dog
attacked him and hurt him pretty bad. This is a good example of why you should treat your dog right.
From my experience raising a Pit Bull I have come to believe they are the best bread of dog. As with
any dog you need to raise and treat them right. Naturally they are loyal, smart, ... Show more content

They were breed to be strong fighting dogs. They originated from Ireland. They mixed a Bulldog and
a Terrier, so they had the strength of a Bulldog and the speed of a Terrier. Pit Bulls were fought in pits
so that is were they got the name Pit Bull. Pits also have amassing jaw strength. They can smash these
dog toys called kongs with their jaws. I can t even smash one by stepping on it. They are so strong that
you can hang a rope from a tree and they will lock their jaws on the rope and swing from it. They can
also jump very high. My Pit can already jump onto my bed and that is almost double his height. Some
Pit Bulls can even learn to climb trees. Pits are also known for being very and muscular. My dog
already weighs forty five pounds at four months old.
The third characteristic of a good dog is courage. Courage is an important characteristic of a good dog
because they are more play full and fun to be around. This also means that they won t be afraid of
anything or any one. This is important for a good guard dog. Pit Bulls are also very courageous. One
example of how courageous Pit Bulls are, is when my Pit was twelve pounds he was trying to wrestle
a one hundred and sixty five pound Rottwiller. Whenever he is around dogs his own weight or close to
it, he always is the dominant dog. Another way he shows his dominance is whenever he is in a car he
will want to sit on the driver s lap. The vet told me that this is a sign of dominance in dogs. Even

author of many books with O Reilly. Most of his books are based off of his experiences. He has
traveled and explored the world to get a better view on what he wants to write. O Reilly is qualified to
write books, but on the other hand Dugard is not. Killing Lincoln is based in chronically order. It goes
day by day on the war, what happens, and why it happens. It explains why history is so important, and
why we need to make America great. It all started on Saturday, April first, eighteen sixty five in City
Point, Virginia. Lincoln was known for his strong religion, and trustworthy personality. (O Reilly 11).
The Civil war had just began and Lincoln was horrified. He just wanted to capture General Robert E.
Lee, and force them to surrender. If Lincoln cannot make this happen, the Civil War can go on for
years. (O Reilly 14). Lincoln is worried about one thing, and one thing only and that s to make
America great again. He hires General Ulysses Grant to be the captain and to recruit his army. Grant
has Lee blocked on all three sides, which limits Lee s soldiers to food. Surprisingly, Grant lets

What Is The Implementation Of PPP In The Compensation System
3.1.1 Implementation Mechanisms
Implementation of PPP in the liability and compensation regime is seen through adequate reference to
mechanisms such as compulsory insurance and compensation funds whereby a ship owner is required
to constitute a fund with the Court for the total limit of his liability to avail the benefit of limitation ,
and maintain compulsory insurance certified by the appropriate State authority for any ship carrying
more than 2,000 tons of oil .
3.1.2 Loss of Right to Limit Liability
There is very narrow scope for a ship owner to be exonerated from strict liability. It requires proof that
damage resulted from war or was wholly caused by an intentional act or omission of a third party or
by negligence of an authority ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Small Tanker Oil Pollution Indemnification Fund (STOPIA) was established to raise maximum
amount of compensation payable for small ships and the Tanker Oil Pollution Indemnification
Agreement (TOPIA) was established to indemnify the supplementary fund 50% of the compensation
amount it pays in event of an oil pollution accident.
Considering the costs of some of the biggest oil spills in history, the SF holds adequate funds to deal
with oil spills of high magnitudes; till date no incident has required compensation from the SF . The
liability and compensation provisions of the CLC and FC satisfy the main components the PPP by
allowing the victims impartial access to remedies and allocating costs of pollution damage, emergency
response and clean up to the polluters .
The abovementioned factors show that the Conventions have come a far way in achieving a perfect
balance in burden sharing among the shipping and oil industries, adapting the polluter pays theory to
the extent feasible. Disturbing this balance for the few incidents where admissible claims exceeded the
limits under the 1992 CLC and FC would mean disturbing a widely accepted, well tested and
successful system operating on an international level .
An interesting view is raised by Chao Wu in his paper on threats to the International Convention
System; he questions the fairness in expecting the transporter and cargo owners to bear all the costs

Comparing the Salem Witch Trials, European Witchcraft...
Comparing the Salem Witch Trials, European Witchcraft Craze and the McCarthy Hearings
The evidence of witchcraft and related works has been around for many centuries. Gradually, though,
a mixture a religious, economical, and political reasons instigated different periods of fear and
uncertainty among society. Witchcraft was thought of as a connection to the devil that made the victim
do evil and strange deeds. (Sutter par. 1) In the sixteenth, seventeenth, and twentieth century, the
hysteria over certain causes resulted in prosecution in the Salem Witch Trials, European Witchcraft
Craze, and the McCarthy hearings. These three events all used uncertain and unjustly accusations to
attack the accused.

Neighbors accused neighbors of witchcraft, and the fright was mounting. (Sutter par. 4) The accused
were mostly women, and to make them confess, different methods of torture were used. The
confessions and trials of the accused witches were nonsense. Often, torture would continue until the
victim had no choice but to confess of being a witch, and most of the confessions were forced. Trials
and hangings continued and by the early autumn of 1692, doubts were developing as to how so many
respectable people could be guilty. The educated elite of the colony began efforts to end the witch
hunting hysteria that had enveloped Salem. Increase Mather then published a work entitled Cases of
Conscience, which argues that it were better that ten suspected witches should escape than one
innocent person should be condemned. This urged the court to exclude spectral evidence. With
spectral evidence not permitted, the remaining trials ended in acquittals and all the convicted and
accused witches were let out of jail in May of 1693. By the time the whole witchcraft incident ended,
nineteen convicted witches were hanged, at least four accused witches had died in prison, and one
man, Giles Corey, had been pressed to death under rocks. About one to two hundred other people were
arrested and imprisoned on witchcraft charges. The witchcraft accusations in Salem had taken the
lives of at least twenty four people.
In Europe, death by accusations of witchcraft

Power In Sophocles Antigone
English philosopher, Thomas Hobbes, once stated, It is not wisdom but Authority that makes a law.
When dissecting this quotation it is clear that it is meant to convey the message that one does not need
to be intelligent to make laws, but rather have power. This illuminates the corruption within the
government and/or ruling power of the time since it is well known that laws should be made according
to what is right for everyone as opposed to what a leader personally wants. One can see this idea
explored in Sophocles play, Antigone, where he criticizes the justice and law making system and
makes clear the problems that can come along with an absolute monarchy. Through his tragedy he
makes a point to challenge the existing laws in his society ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Haimon and the king are arguing about the new law Haimon points out that Creon has no right
to trample on God s right (1294 or line 113). Creon quickly dismisses this comment proving his
inability to recognize when he is in the wrong and only furthering his arrogant persona. This quotation
also shows how leaders with absolute power can become, essentially, out of control. By Sophocles
pointing out how an occurrence like this is possible, with a power hungry leader, it shows his criticism
of his society s current governing system. Near the end of the play after Creon experiences the horrific
consequences the Choragos closes the play by pointing out that [t]here is no happiness where there is
no wisdom;/ No wisdom but in submission to the gods (1305 or lines 139 140). The Choragos, being
the voice of reason, perfectly encapsulates one of the play s major themes: forces greater than oneself
should always be respected. Creon is left devastated after the gods basically kill all of his loved ones,
proving the quotation true. Overall, Sophocles shows the effect of prioritizing a law that is in direct
defiance with the gods laws and, in turn, proves his dislike for the absolute monarchies and their self
serving laws that existed in his

Introduction
1. The hippie subculture was originally a youth movement that arose in the United States during the
mid 1960s and spread to other countries around the world.
2. The word hippie came from hipster, and was initially used to describe beatniks who had moved into
New York City s Greenwich Village and San Francisco s Haight Ashbury district.
3. The origins of the terms hip and hep are uncertain, though by the 1940s both had become part of
African American jive slang and meant sophisticated; currently fashionable; fully up to date .
4. The Beats adopted the term hip, and early hippies inherited the language and countercultural values
of the Beat Generation.

organized social and cultural clubs that centered around German folk music.
Ethos and characteristics
1. Hippies sought to free themselves from societal restrictions, choose their own way, and find new
meaning in life.
2. One expression of hippie independence from societal norms was found in their standard of dress
and grooming, which made hippies instantly recognizable to one another, and served as a visual
symbol of their respect for individual rights.
3. Through their appearance, hippies declared their willingness to question authority, and distanced
themselves from the straight and square (i.e., conformist) segments of society.
4. Personality traits and values that hippies tend to be associated with are altruism and mysticism,
honesty, joy and nonviolence .

What Is The Message Of The Man On The Moon By John Lewis
A medium sized suburban home comes into view; a light snowfall blankets the world in a sheet of
cotton as the sounds of Christmas music fill the air. The street is covered in brightly colored orbs of
light strung carefully from every rooftop. Despite the busy season, the air feels light with Christmas
cheer as despite the chilly weather there is a feeling of warmth through every home. The Christmas
season had finally arrived, coming into view as quick as a flicker of the home s hearth. No matter
where you go you can feel the spirit of the holidays throughout every home, every meal, and every
celebration. The holiday season fills each and every person with emotion, an emotion that is hard to
describe but everyone who has experienced the holidays knows. Trying to capture this emotion is
difficult, yet sometimes his emotion can truly be harnessed and celebrated.
John Lewis has always been known for their Christmas advertisements and the powerful emotions that
they inspire. John Lewis is a United Kingdom and an online business that focuses on the selling of
multiple products from holiday decorations, gifts, and even items such as insurances or luxury cars.
This companies appeal is not only their selection of products but the message of togetherness and
family as they attempt to put into everything that they sell. Their Christmas advertisement titled The
Man on the Moon was their 2015 attempt to celebrate this message as well as team up with the United
Kingdom charity Age UK.

Importance Of Ethical Issues In Marketing
1. Why do you think marketing is an area that is involved with so many ethical issues? Provide atleast
2 reasons to support your answer.
Marketing is an area that affects the companies greatly. Marketing can change how people see a brand,
it can create a positive or negative perspective of the brand that is why marketers need to be careful
how they launch new advertisements and promotions. Many thinks that marketing has a big deal with
ethical issues which most of the companies try to get rid of these problems because they would like to
be more transparent and more appealing to the customers, but this is not the case for all the companies
because as we can see when we check the internet we get bombarded with a lot of advertisements that
we do not even have an interest on them. However, many researchers found ethical issues with
marketing, one area that researches found the greatest problem is when marketers survey people to
find if they are interested with the brand or their products. Akaah and colleagues state on their
research, In an effort to meet the client s need for accurate and reliable data, a researcher might be less
than candid with respondents about the intent of a research study in order to avoid biasing their
responses.
Furthermore, I believe that marketing is an area involved in many ethical issues because marketers
must satisfy customers, and they also need to find a way to approach the people that they are
surveying with care if they want to get the right

Theme Of Immature In Romeo And Juliet
Even though they have made many immature mistakes (like marrying only after knowing each other
less than twenty four hours), Romeo and Juliet have matured throughout the play because they have
both put each other before themselves, they both have been more aware and considerate of other
people instead of being vain and inconsiderate, and they both have tried to control their own fates
instead of letting fate control them. In the first and second acts, both Romeo and Juliet are childish and
immature. First, Romeo keeps sulking over the fact that Rosaline doesn t love him back. When the
devout religion of mine eye Maintains such falsehood, then turn tears to fires; and these, who, often
drowned, could never die, Transparent heretics, be burnt for liars! One fairer than my love? The all
seeing sun Ne er saw her match since first the world begun (Romeo and Juliet 1.2:88 93). In this
quote, Romeo says that if the love for he has for Rosaline, which is like a religion, is changed because
he finds someone more beautiful than her, let his tears turn to fire and his eyes be burned. Moreover,
this just shows how immature Romeo is in the first Act. Juliet is also immature in the first and second
acts of the play. I ll look to like, if looking liking move;/ But no more deep will I endart mine eye/
Than your consent gives strength to make it fly (Romeo and Juliet 1.3:98 100). In this quote, Juliet
that she will look to see if she will like Paris if that is her mothers wish.

Analysis Of The Film Cool Hand Luke
Cool Hand Luke Film Analysis The film, Cool Hand Luke, directed by Stuart Rosenberg and
produced by Gordon Carroll, was released in November 1967. It is an American prison drama film
about a former soldier who is sent to jail for taking the heads off of parking meters. Luke, the
protagonist, is sentenced to two years in a chain gang prison ran by severe guardians. If the prisoners
violate the rules it results in spending the night in the box , which is a small room with limited air and
limited space to move. Most of them follow every rule, while Luke is alienated at the prison. He does
not take the regulations seriously, which always gets him into trouble. This film presents several
examples of religious symbolism and themes which will be analyzed through the character of Luke,
which is often applied in the film to add depth to his character. In Cool Hand Luke, there are some
scenes in which the theme of crucifixion is depicted. One of the scenes is when Luke ingests fifty
eggs, which represents the souls of the earth Christ died for on the cross (Christ Imagery in Cool Hand
Luke). This happen when all the prisoners gather around him while Dragline served him the eggs.
Luke accepted the challenge to prove himself to the inmates and to get the money from all the bets
made on him. Whenever he finishes eating, he lies on the table with his arms extended. This scene
alludes and emphasizes to Christ crucifixion. Even though the audience does not know why exactly

I Was A New Friend
Prior to this semester, the concept of diversity hardly crossed my mind, and when it did I never took it
seriously. Freshman year, when my friends and I would sit out on the yard on sunny days we would
joke about how we d make the perfect photograph for a Xavier brochure because how diverse our
group was. And it was pretty diverse. Every major region was covered. At other times, I was very
interested in gender diversity; I attended multiple young women leadership programs in high school,
but I never felt like I was being affected by being a female. Recently diversity has started to affect me
more; coincidently or not, it paired up with class fairly well. In the beginning of the year, I was highly
involved in the E/RS events concerning race. Then a mentor of mine struggled with her job; she is
pregnant but her work does not offer maternity leave. Furthermore, I made a new friend this year that
is in a wheelchair. I learned that like most places, Xavier is not very handicap accessible. As for
myself, I learned how to own my privilege. I associate as a white, abled bodied, heterosexual, middle
class, young adult, female. I have dealt with very little issues. I struggle with my race and ethnicity. I
classify my race as white and my ethnicity as Portuguese. But the US government lumps Portuguese
with Latinos/Hispanics, which always confused me growing up. I disliked that I was being grouped
and labeled. In high school, all of the diverse kids junior and senior year were

Qualitative Interview
The article titled learning to interview in the social sciences makes a valid point that as interviewers
we can never ensure what will happen during an interview. To some degree interviewing for the social

develop a different ebb and flow than research specific qualitative interview, as they tend to have more

The War On The Front Lines
The refusal to obey orders, or a violent attempt to take control from people of authority. 1 The Great
War was a rugged time for many throughout its duration from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918.
The speculations and thoughts of the general public and the soldiers in battle behind the ongoing war
changed drastically over the four years. The moral and willpower of the soldiers declined heavily, and
this had a large impact on how the war was fought. Many soldiers captured their accounts of these
changes in journals as diaries and there is one French soldier s diary that accurately depicts mutiny on
the front lines. There is a clear correlation between the changes in the amount of recruits and supplies
available, the manner in which the war was fought, and the general feelings behind the war as time
went on, which caused some soldiers to choose mutiny. At the beginning of the war, the duties behind
what the soldiers had to do were largely appreciated and they were held above others as heroes. People
of warring countries were rushing to battle and their loved ones were supporting them all of the way.
Battalions were even formed from work groups, as they already withheld an established chain of
command, the members had a close knit bond, and there was a charismatic feeling about representing
the country they worked in. The glorified fighting and risking of one s life was soon changed.
The way the war was fought also fiercely changed. The battle techniques early on in 1914

How Does Cimorene Deal With A Dragon
In the novel Dealing with Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede, the princess Cimorene was not the average
princess. She was not a perfect princess and did not want to live a perfect princess s life. Cimorene ran
away to devote her life to be the princess of a dragon, due to her not wanting to marry prince
Therandil and loathed her life in the castle. Cimorene was expected to maintain this unendurable
lifestyle, because her parents and nation expected her to. Cimorene was justified in ignoring the
expected norms of medieval society because she had more freedom, more power, and she didn t have
to stress overruling a kingdom. Furthermore, Cimorene had more freedom to do what she fancied

In the Medieval Ages princesses did not have a lot of power. If a Queen had different beliefs than a
King the nation would go with what the King believed. This was, because in the Medieval Ages men
had more power than women. When she lived in the castle no one listened to what Cimorene wanted.
That depends entirely on what she says. Tell us about it, princess, Kazul commanded. (199). This
shows how Kazul actually gave Cimorene a chance to talk. Kazul valued Cimorene s opinion and took
her word over another dragon s word. It was better for Cimorene to be Kazul s princess, because
Kazul was a very compassionate, genial, and gallant. These were not the only reasons she was
extraordinary, but she was also an amazing friend. She was an amazing friend to Cimorene and always
stood up for her and always listened to her. In addition, Cimorene didn t have as much stress as she
was living in the castle than working for Kazul because she had less responsibilities. Cimorene was
able to enjoy living with Kazul, because Kazul was not belligerent to Cimorene instead she was a very
sympathetic dragon. While she lived with Kazul she had daily chores, but she did not have to be a
proper princess . She didn t have to act or be proper when she lived with Kazul. When she was under
Kazul s ruling she did not have to live up to high expectations. During the Medieval Ages Princesses

Transportation New York City s water transport started to grow rapidly in the 19th century.
Steamboats gave quick, solid associations from New York Harbor to other Hudson River and

Sex Offender Speech
Hello Ladies, I believe that a sex offender is a sex offender, from this course I have learned there are
multiple reasons a person may become a sex offender, it typically isn t a decision made over night.
Research has proved abusive behaviors are instilled at a young age through child abuse, and/or are
caused by mental health problems. I understand that is not the reason in all cases, of course drugs and
alcohol play a factor too. The behaviors don t just appear or just go away, they may lie dormant or
present in a subtle way, but they exist. Sexual predators adapt to their surroundings, so it doesn t
matter if they are in the military or not, if they want to commit a sexual assault they will. The military

In Lies We Trust Analysis
In Lies We Trust
The 2009 romantic fantasy movie The Invention of Lying portrays a world completely devoid of
untruths, where everyone tells the truth all the time and everything said is taken at face value. Mark
Bellison, the protagonist, begins by explaining that in his world, everyone tells the entire truth, not
matter how hurtful or cruel. The audience notices a Pepsi ad with the tagline, Pepsi: when they don t
have coke, among other peculiar things. This premise is not only humorous because it is so contrary to
reality, but also unsettling, because it brings to light how frequently humans lie and are dependent on
lying, as well as how the world cannot exist without it. Indeed, although lying is often negatively
perceived, the ubiquity of it is observed all around the world, particularly in commonplace and social

Humility In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun
Humility: is it congenital or developed? Is it being shy or selfless? Many people interpret the concept
of humility in different ways: regardless, there is no definition more correct over the other. The
dictionary defines the term humility as, modest or low view of one s own importance, which could be
interpreted as insecure or shy. I, however, believe that humility is in fact a process in which one
develops into a state where they give up their desires to place another person before themselves.
Humility isn t about the lack of pride or confidence; it is merely acknowledging that oneself is not
more important than another. The play, A Raisin in the Sun, illustrates humility exceptionally well
throughout several main characters. For instance, Beneatha had her heart set on attending medical
school with the use of her father s insurance money. When her brother practically threw away the
money, Beneatha became extremely egocentric in regard to what she was going to do without the
money. Beneatha s good friend ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, in A Raisin in the Sun, Walter Lee Younger was profoundly selfish throughout his entire life.
After throwing away the money, he began to make a deal that would only benefit himself and disgrace
his family. Like Walter, one often makes decisions that only have a good outcome for themselves: yet,
there is always a possibility to become modest. At the end of the play, Walter alters his decision for the
sake of his family. Humility works in a way that is constantly changing. Some believe that you can
only be humble if your parents are humble, or if you ve experienced it all your life. This is false:
anyone can be humble. Similar to the concept previously stated, humility develops with experience. It
takes a specific circumstance to show one that they are not always the center of attention and thus

Social Unity In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath
Social Unity in Steinbeck s The Grapes of Wrath
The unity of mankind is a theme that has been often reflected in literature, in politics, and in
philosophy. Throughout history, it has been articulated by such luminaries as John Donne, who
famously wrote that no man is an island ; Ralph Waldo Emerson, who developed the concept of the
Oversoul; and more recently John Steinbeck, who as an author brought the theme of social unity into a
new, popularly accessible light. Regarded as an exceedingly influential figure in American literature,
Steinbeck saw man as a part of a whole, often against a background of the disintegration of larger
social and economic units and systems ( Biography of John Steinbeck 12). This view is reflected most

In the beginning of The Grapes of Wrath, Jim Casy is depicted as a former preacher whose life has
recently been changed by a series of radical, almost transcendentalist revelations, such as that sin is an
empty concept and that the souls of all people are part of a greater whole. He reasons that while he
may not truly know and love Jesus, [m]aybe it s all men and all women we love; maybe that s the
Holy Sperit . . . Maybe all men got one big soul ever body s apart of (Steinbeck 31). At first, he has
yet to act upon these ideas, only revealing them to a couple of characters, including Tom Joad.
However, this changes when he moves with the Joads to California; there, he begins to engage in
altruism and active self sacrifice out of his deep regard for his fellow man. For instance, when an
aggressive deputy is injured by Tom Joad and another migrant worker, Casy takes the blame and lets
himself be arrested, reasoning that the cops will jus put me in jail, an I ain t doin nothin but set aroun

experiment he conducted was to find out what kind of maternal care the monkeys needed to be
normal; Harlow raised the infant monkeys with artificial mothers to see how different types of
mothers would affect the monkeys growth and reaction. He used a variety of mothers to research the
different preferences, and he thought that the ideal mother was a mother, soft, warm, and tender, a
mother with infinite patience, a mother available 24 hours a day (Slater, 2008, n.pag.). He used two
mothers in this experiment: one was made out of terrycloth and the other one was made out of wire (

there s a greater sense of community, and everyone knows everyone else. Although, that could also be

My Mind Is Playing Tricks On You
Your mind is Playing Tricks on You There are so many topics people question about the world.
Whether its conspiracy theories, superstitions, ghost, religion or even supernatural experiences.
Everybody has their own beliefs. Why don t we all just believe in one... Logic! People are scared to

The War Between Mexico And The United States Essay
Following eleven years of struggle, Mexico finally achieved its independence from Spain in
September of 1827. Yet over the next 40 years, Mexico would see nearly half of its lands lost from
circumstances both in its control and those that were not. Fundamental in the structuring of the events
that occurred were the altercations between Mexico and the U.S., chiefly speaking the cessation of
Texas from Mexico, the war between Mexico and the United States, and the Gadsden Purchase. These
proceedings crippled an already weakened nation, and set in motion a tortuous path for the nation that
still exists to this very day. The internal and external strife from these three events left Mexico s ties
with the United States diminished, a long lasting alienation of Mexican Americans within the U.S.
boundaries, its people torn asunder by the continuance of combat, both abroad and on its native soil.
Mexico had many difficulties in beginning its life as a new nation, much the same as the United States
did when it achieved independence from England. Freed from the bondage of colonized society,
Mexico was eager to commerce in the capitalistic idealisms as seen in American societies. As such,
Mexico invited American citizens into its new republic in order to learn how to industrialize, infuse
American spirit into its domain, and open channels of commerce with its north American brethren.
Had the venture succeeded, this would have brought to Mexico the infrastructure it required to
maintain

Thomas Paine s The Age Of Reason
In this contemporary era more people do not identify with God and in turn have become more
skeptical of God. This shift can be seen in Thomas Paine s The Age of Reason; which is an excellent
example of deism. Paine spares no detail on why he does not believe in the Bible and why he does not
believe God is continually working in the world. Jonathan Edwards sermon, A Divine and
Supernatural Light, on the other hand, adamantly believes in the Bible and that God is actively present
in the world. Edwards s provides an excellent example of Christianity. These two authors create a
snapshot of the prevailing, in Edwards s case, and emerging, in Paine s case, worldviews of their
respective era. Thomas Paine s The Age of Reason cites contextual reasons for not believing the Bible;
while Jonathan Edwards sermon, A Divine and Supernatural Light, gives divine reasons for believing
the Bible. Thomas Paine s The Age of Reason, he takes issue with what the Bible calls revelations
(aka special revelations). He gives revelations the definition of, when pertaining to religion, as the
something communicated immediately from God to man (510) . Thus, when a revelation is given from
God to man and is then passed on from one person to the next. Paine considers this not to be a true
revelation, because he believes a revelation only to that person and to no other. If said revelation were
to be applied to others, it would, according to Paine, be hearsay. Because of this Paine believes that

Sigma, DMAEV (define, measure, analyze, enable, and verify), SCOR (Supply Chain Operation

Comparison and Contrast between Two Book Chapters
This paper will compare and contrast the contributions of Michael Dell, founder and CEO of Dell
Computer, and Andy Grove, cofounder and former CEO of Intel. The paper presents each person;
talks about their main contributions for their companies, problems they experienced, and their
similarities and differences; and concludes by discussing the factors that may have impacted their
success. The data for this paper is taken from the book, What the Best CEOs Know; 7 Exceptional
Leaders and Their Lessons for Transforming Any Business (Krames, 2003).
Introduction of Professionals and Their Contributions Michael Dell is the founder and CEO of Dell
Computer Corporation. He took Dell Computer public and the stock became the number one stock of
the 1990 s, soaring almost 90,000 percent (Krames, 2003, p. 58 59). Michael Dell expanded the direct
selling model because he believed a very close relationship with the customer and vendor would lead
to success. His philosophy basically said, Managers hoping to create successful brands cannot do it by
imposing their own views on the marketplace ... there needs to be a mechanism in place whereby the
company learns to make the products that its target customers actually want (Krames, 2003, p. 59).
With this philosophy, he built a company that continuously attempts to interact with the customer at as
many levels as possible to provide the customer with what they want at the price they want. Andy
Grove is the cofounder and former CEO of Intel.

Trials and hangings continued and by the early autumn of 1692, doubts were developing as to how so many respectable people could be guilty. The educated elite of the colony began efforts to end the witch hunting hysteria that had enveloped Salem. Increase Mather then published a work entitled Cases of Conscience, which argues that it were better that ten suspected witches should escape than one innocent person should be condemned. This urged the court to exclude spectral evidence. With spectral evidence not permitted, the remaining trials ended in acquittals and all the convicted and accused witches were let out of jail in May of 1693. By the time the whole witchcraft incident ended, nineteen convicted witches were hanged, at least four accused witches had died in prison, and one man, Giles Corey, had been pressed to death under rocks. • 8. Power In Sophocles Antigone English philosopher, Thomas Hobbes, once stated, It is not wisdom but Authority that makes a law. When dissecting this quotation it is clear that it is meant to convey the message that one does not need to be intelligent to make laws, but rather have power. This illuminates the corruption within the government and/or ruling power of the time since it is well known that laws should be made according to what is right for everyone as opposed to what a leader personally wants. One can see this idea explored in Sophocles play, Antigone, where he criticizes the justice and law making system and makes clear the problems that can come along with an absolute monarchy. When Haimon and the king are arguing about the new law Haimon points out that Creon has no right to trample on God s right (1294 or line 113). Creon quickly dismisses this comment proving his inability to recognize when he is in the wrong and only furthering his arrogant persona. This quotation also shows how leaders with absolute power can become, essentially, out of control. By Sophocles pointing out how an occurrence like this is possible, with a power hungry leader, it shows his criticism of his society s current governing system. Near the end of the play after Creon experiences the horrific consequences the Choragos closes the play by pointing out that [t]here is no happiness where there is no wisdom;/ No wisdom but in submission to the gods (1305 or lines 139 140). The Choragos, being the voice of reason, perfectly encapsulates one of the play s major themes: forces greater than oneself should always be respected. Creon is left devastated after the gods basically kill all of his loved ones, proving the quotation true. Overall, Sophocles shows the effect of prioritizing a law that is in direct defiance with the gods laws and, in turn, proves his dislike for the absolute monarchies and their self serving laws that existed in his ... Marketing is an area that affects the companies greatly. Marketing can change how people see a brand, it can create a positive or negative perspective of the brand that is why marketers need to be careful how they launch new advertisements and promotions. Many thinks that marketing has a big deal with ethical issues which most of the companies try to get rid of these problems because they would like to be more transparent and more appealing to the customers, but this is not the case for all the companies because as we can see when we check the internet we get bombarded with a lot of advertisements that we do not even have an interest on them. However, many researchers found ethical issues with marketing, one area that researches found the greatest problem is when marketers survey people to find if they are interested with the brand or their products. It is an American prison drama film about a former soldier who is sent to jail for taking the heads off of parking meters. Luke, the protagonist, is sentenced to two years in a chain gang prison ran by severe guardians. If the prisoners violate the rules it results in spending the night in the box , which is a small room with limited air and limited space to move. Most of them follow every rule, while Luke is alienated at the prison. He does not take the regulations seriously, which always gets him into trouble. This film presents several examples of religious symbolism and themes which will be analyzed through the character of Luke, which is often applied in the film to add depth to his character. In Cool Hand Luke, there are some scenes in which the theme of crucifixion is depicted. One of the scenes is when Luke ingests fifty eggs, which represents the souls of the earth Christ died for on the cross (Christ Imagery in Cool Hand Luke). This happen when all the prisoners gather around him while Dragline served him the eggs. The War On The Front Lines The refusal to obey orders, or a violent attempt to take control from people of authority. 1 The Great War was a rugged time for many throughout its duration from July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918. The speculations and thoughts of the general public and the soldiers in battle behind the ongoing war changed drastically over the four years. The moral and willpower of the soldiers declined heavily, and this had a large impact on how the war was fought. Many soldiers captured their accounts of these changes in journals as diaries and there is one French soldier s diary that accurately depicts mutiny on the front lines. There is a clear correlation between the changes in the amount of recruits and supplies available, the manner in which the war was fought, and the general feelings behind the war as time went on, which caused some soldiers to choose mutiny. At the beginning of the war, the duties behind what the soldiers had to do were largely appreciated and they were held above others as heroes. People of warring countries were rushing to battle and their loved ones were supporting them all of the way. Battalions were even formed from work groups, as they already withheld an established chain of command, the members had a close knit bond, and there was a charismatic feeling about representing the country they worked in. In Lies We Trust Analysis In Lies We Trust The 2009 romantic fantasy movie The Invention of Lying portrays a world completely devoid of untruths, where everyone tells the truth all the time and everything said is taken at face value. Mark Bellison, the protagonist, begins by explaining that in his world, everyone tells the entire truth, not matter how hurtful or cruel. The audience notices a Pepsi ad with the tagline, Pepsi: when they don t have coke, among other peculiar things. This premise is not only humorous because it is so contrary to reality, but also unsettling, because it brings to light how frequently humans lie and are dependent on lying, as well as how the world cannot exist without it. • 27. Humility In Lorraine Hansberry s A Raisin In The Sun Humility: is it congenital or developed? Is it being shy or selfless? Many people interpret the concept of humility in different ways: regardless, there is no definition more correct over the other. The dictionary defines the term humility as, modest or low view of one s own importance, which could be interpreted as insecure or shy. I, however, believe that humility is in fact a process in which one develops into a state where they give up their desires to place another person before themselves. Humility isn t about the lack of pride or confidence; it is merely acknowledging that oneself is not more important than another. The play, A Raisin in the Sun, illustrates humility exceptionally well throughout several main characters. For instance, Beneatha had her heart set on attending medical school with the use of her father s insurance money. When her brother practically threw away the money, Beneatha became extremely egocentric in regard to what she was going to do without the money. Beneatha s good friend ... Like Walter, one often makes decisions that only have a good outcome for themselves: yet, there is always a possibility to become modest. At the end of the play, Walter alters his decision for the sake of his family. Humility works in a way that is constantly changing. Some believe that you can only be humble if your parents are humble, or if you ve experienced it all your life. This is false: anyone can be humble. Similar to the concept previously stated, humility develops with experience. It takes a specific circumstance to show one that they are not always the center of attention and thus become ... Yet over the next 40 years, Mexico would see nearly half of its lands lost from circumstances both in its control and those that were not. Fundamental in the structuring of the events that occurred were the altercations between Mexico and the U.S., chiefly speaking the cessation of Texas from Mexico, the war between Mexico and the United States, and the Gadsden Purchase. These proceedings crippled an already weakened nation, and set in motion a tortuous path for the nation that still exists to this very day.
