Sports Data Analysis Essay
The use of computerized statistical analysis has developed into a vital tool in the world of sports.
Using data analytics to project player abilities, indicative of their potential future performance, is now
an important part of team decision making. This analysis can provide information that makes the
difference between adding a quality player, as opposed to one who does not perform up to
expectations.
Optimal Lineups Win Championships
Putting together, the optimal lineup to pursue championships is the ultimate goal of every sports team.
Data analytics provide extensive detail into player abilities that allow team management to compose
the most cohesive unit that they can. Both styles of football, American and European aka: soccer, have

Analytical data includes different psychological aspects of a player s mentality. Stopwatches record
times, tape measures calculate distances and heights, plus video gives scouts and coaches a visual look
at player performance. However, for all their usefulness, they do little more than categorize athletes
based on a series of numbers.
Diverse Use of Data
Another reason why analytical tools are so vital to a team s success is how this raw data that is used.
Coaching staffs and trainers are not the only ones to benefit from data that is organized and usable.
Medical staff coordinates their own block of data to help players not only recover from injuries, but
implement training methods that are the most successful in preventing them in the first place.
Game strategies are developed using the mass amount of historical data from previous contests.
Before analytical capabilities expanded, it took boxes of written game records stacked on desks in
coaching offices. Now managers and game coordinators can have literally thousands of different game
day statistics at their finger tips and manipulate those statistics to analyze real game

During the Civil War, there were two remarkable men, Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest.
Both of them had a struggling childhood, growing up poor and received no formal education. Lincoln
and Bedford Forrest had chosen a different path, Lincoln is a self taught lawyer while Bedford Forrest
was a lieutenant general in the Civil War and before the war Forrest was a fortune amassed a planter

He decides to fight rather than to let the Southerner seceded. Lincoln did believe that slavery was
morally wrong, but Lincoln personally felt that black did not deserve equal treatment of whites. As
Lincoln wanted to bring the south back to Union, and that is why he had begun his plan for this with
the Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction while Forrest wanted no more than just to fight for
the Confederacy as a private, but because Forrest had raised the troops himself, Forrest ends up to
become the commanding officer, he earned a promotion to lieutenant colonel while Lincoln work very
hard to save the Union Even though his feeling toward slavery is not to free them, but Lincoln prefers
to do anything he can to save the Union. Lincoln s effort did not go notice, he is unpopular by the
southerners for freeing slaves and unfavored by north because they don t trust him, most of them

The Colonists Did NOT Have Adequate Cause for the American...
Were the Colonists Justified in Their Rebellion against England? Yes Did the Colonists Have an
Adequate Cause for Revolution? No
Starting after the termination of the Seven Year s war, by the Peace of Paris, England repeatedly
violated the American Colonists rights. A series of events, happening between 1763(ending of the
Seven Years war) and 1775 (starting of the revolution), could be taken as motives for the American s
revolution. The Americans claimed that through both, the Sugar Act (1764) and the Stamp Act (1765),
the British dishonored their rights to taxation. The Townshend Acts also infuriated the Americans, and
as in all other circumstances, they were willing to fight for their rights. The final justification for the ...

The Americans surely refused when asked, by the parliament to revoke the circular letter passed by the
Massachusetts assembly. This created more unity among the colonies, which added to the Acts, were
one more justification for their rebellion.
The Coercive Acts, passed in 1774, were the biggest justification for the revolution. They were known
as the Intolerable Acts. The Acts closed the port of Boston, restructured the Massachusetts
government, allowed British officials to be tried in court in either Canada or Europe, and allowed
troops to be quartered wherever needed. The Americans felt that all these were violations of their
rights and that they had been forced to obey laws that violated their rights.
All the above decribed Acts and laws, were a justification for the revolution. However, they are not
valid causes for the rebellion. Considering that the main justification for the revolution was the
passing of the Coercive Acts, these Acts, were only passed because of the Boston Tea party. The
Americans might have said that they were full of all the taxes, and that Englang went too far with the
Tea Act. However Most of the taxes the Americans paid, were much lower than the taxes the Britsh
paid over the same goods.
Ultimately, the colonists were justified in their rebellion against England. However they did not have
an adequate cause for revolution.

Sherman Alexie Biography
Ayla Hall Mrs. Brown 11th Adv. LIt 20 December 2016 Sherman Alexie Sherman Alexie is a Native
American writer who writes about life as an American Indian. Alexie uses his family and culture to
create the setting, and he also uses it to create a three person reflection of himself through his
characters Thomas Builds The Fire, Victor Joseph, and Victor Polatkin. One of the things that
contributed to Alexie s writing was his family. Sherman Alexie was born in Spokane, Washington, on
October 7, 1966, the son of Sherman Joseph Alexie and Lillian Agnes (née Cox) Alexie (Sax). Alexie
s father was an alcoholic and was absent for most of his childhood. Thomas father, Samuel, in Alexie s

When Thomas first got Johnson s guitar, he was talking to Victor and Junior about it. Victor wanted to
know what he had named it. Tell me, Victor said and cut off Thomas air for a second (Alexie 14).
Junior tries to get Victor to let go of Thomas. I ain t letting you go until you tell me, (Alexie 14).
Junior was very persistent and physical, which as Alexie described as part of himself. The three
predominant characters in his first novel, Reservation Blues, Alexie has described as the holy trinity of
me (McFarland). Victor proceeded to argue with Thomas about the guitar. He is trying to get him to
stop playing songs by making him play a specific song. What happens if you can t play the song?
Victor asked. Then you can kick my ass some more. We ll kick your ass anyway, Victor said (Alexie
15). Victor also used an electric fence to be mean to Thomas. Watch this, Victor said as he dropped a
foot long water snake onto the fence. Thomas nearly choked on the smell (Alexie 71). Thomas did not
want to say anything in fear of making it worse. Thomas was a little frivolous around Victor Junior
once again tried to get Victor to stop but it did not work. Victor drug Thomas over to a barrel where he
had a rattlesnake inside. Grab the fence, Victor said. Or grab the snake (Alexie 71). This was quite a
shrewd thing to do, but Thomas was more crafty when he touched the snake, knowing it was dead
when Victor did not. Victor can be implacable and arduous about what he wants people to do. Victor
was also drunk a lot. Do you got a beer? (Alexie 19) Junior asked one of the Indians on the reservation
that everybody knew did not drink like that. He got drunk almost and passed asleep in the water truck
every night. Victor and Junior were passed out in the water truck on an old logging road (Alexie 23).
They had been working all day delivering water to the end of the reservation that did

Absorbance spectrums show how strongly something absorbs different wavelengths of light.
Absorbency in different regions of the spectrum influences the color that we see. In this experiment,
students used a spectrometer to measure the absorbance spectrum of different color food dyes and

everyone in our society to have an education. Survival is the main reason: a cohesive society is

As a relook at Tucson 66 states, the number of English speakers in the Western Hemisphere is only
slightly larger than that of Spanish speakers. By the year 2000 the number of Spanish speakers will be
far greater than the number of english speakers. Statistics indicate that the United States is now one of
the major Spanish American countries. One statistical example: If the figures on illegal Mexican aliens
are correct, that means that every year the United States adds another city the size of Albuquerque and
Tucson combined. Or, put it another way, it adds another state larger in population than Wyoming and

The policy of most governments toward bilingualism in the home is and long has been one of neglect.
A few countries actively encourage it, especially if the quot;second quot; (non community) language is
the more important language in the country or in the world, or if the quot;minority quot; (community)
language is the language of a group given special consideration under the law. Many countries, which
have recently been colonies, for example, encourage their young people to learn the language of their
former quot;Mother Country quot;, because bilingualism of this type is important in international trade
and politics. However, we could find castles full of research and still very little is being done in public

Laws In Harry Potter
How many laws does mankind need to survive? Mankind needs at least three main laws to keep the
world spinning. In the book Harry Potter written by J. K. Rowling they had a forbidden curse. The
forbidden curse took a life from the world. Another example is Night written by Elie Wiesel a young
man was hanged because of theft. Another book had an example of the effects of not having free
speech, The Giver written by Lois Lowry. If the world had these three main laws the world would be
much simpler. The first law should be thou shalt not kill. Killing darkens the soul and turns a good
person into a naughty one. Killing is vicious and not only hurts the person being killed but all of his
family and friends. Thou shalt not kill is a commandment from our Holy Father. If God thought this
rule is important enough to carve into stone, it is important enough to follow. In the book Harry Potter
written by J. K. Rowling, Alastor Moody demonstrated the forbidden curse on a spider and turned a
happy student into a sad student. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Free speech is the first amendment. This amendment has been changed over time. It started out with
white males have free speech, to all whites, and finally every man and women with every race. When
races that were not white couldn t speak their minds, riots broke out and many people died. Martin
Luther King Jr. gave his life trying to get equal rights for all black men, women, and children. Without
him the world would be chaos. If people can t speak their opinion, then someone will have a problem
with something and not be able to fix it. This law is so important because if people can t talk about
their problems someone will speak with violent actions. In the book The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jonah
was told the truth but everyone was told what they could and could not say. So he took action and hurt

Policy Solution The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act Public Law 109 248 of the 109th
Congress is defined as to protect children from sexual exploitation and violent crime, to prevent child
abuse and child pornography, to promote internet safety and to honor the memory of Adam Walsh and

The Partition onf India
The Partition of India in August, 1947 was a significant event in history that accounted for the
separation of one of the world s oldest civilization into two, independent nations Pakistan and India.
Like many other wars in history, The Partition of India was instigated by religious, political and social
conflict. This resulted in violence, discrimination and the largest human displacement in contemporary
history. While the Partition was well studied, much of our understanding was focused on the political
side of history, not the human side of it. This was why oral history played an important role in
manifesting the complexity of a historical event. Our focus here is Maya Rani s testimony from
Butalia s book, The Other Side of Silence: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To Rani, people dying here, others dying there (cited in Butalia, 2000, p.268) was something that
happened every day, it was no surprise to her. Thus, Rani s cynical view about the future of India and
Pakistan was conceivably drawn from memories of witnessing horrendous fights and strife throughout
her whole life (cited in Butalia, 2000, p.268).
Official documents have little say about women and children of the Partition as they were viewed as a
collective. Earlier reports on the abduction of women only gave the reader the statistics and brief
statements that glorified community nationalism rather than the victims itself. Many failed to dwell
into the individual trauma of this particular group (Menon Bhasin, 1998, p.11). Rani s testimony was
significant in that not only it opened us to another outlook from a witness point of view; it also
revealed that people who were not physically involved were also affected psychologically. This was
also the only part in the testimony where Rani displayed sympathy and grievance. Her sensitivity and
deep connection with these victims correlated with age and gender. Her emphasis on the words young
and girl throughout her testimony evoked our sense of disbelief that people would do such inhumane
things to each other (cited in Butalia, 2000, p.271). Her hesitant manner, evident

Scalable Cache Coherence Protocols Are Essential For...
Abstract
Scalable cache coherence protocols are essential for multiprocessor systems to satisfy the requirement
for more dominant high performance servers with shared memory. However, the small size of the
directory cache of the increasingly bigger systems may result in recurrent directory entries evictions
and, consequently, invalidations of cached blocks that will gravely corrupt system performance.
According to prior studies, only a single core accesses a considerable fraction of data blocks, so it is
needless to monitor these in the directory structure. Using the technique of uniprocessor systems and
deactivating their consistency protocol is the best way to identify those private blocks actively. The
directory caches will stop the tracking of a substantial amount of blocks after the deactivation of the
protocol, which will minimize their load and enhance their adequate size. The proposal only needs
minor changes because the operating system collaborates in finding the private blocks.
There are two fundamental contributions to the study. The first is to reveal that the classification of
data blocks at block level assists to identify significantly more classified data blocks as compared to
work in a few earlier studies of organizing the cache blocks at the granularity of page and sub page.
The method minimizes the proportion of blocks in the directory necessary for tracking significantly in
comparison to the same course approaches of level classification. It, in turn,

Narration In Wuthering Heights
The Narration of Wuthering Heights This research paper propose to portray the different forms of
narration in Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. The narrative style that Brontë uses is unique. It
includes multiple points of views. The reader is two times away from the events, sometimes three
times. In the beginning Lockwood narrates the events in a diary form, then he starts telling the events
from Nelly s point of view. When Nelly s narration starts as a witness on the events of the past the
readers are two steps removed from the events. But when she narrates events that other characters told
her, the readers are 3 steps away from the story. However, such narrative distance doesn t make the
readers emotionally distant from characters or events. Brontë uses different narrators that leads to the
use of different literary techniques to keep the readers close and connected to the events. ... Show

Nelly is a clever, sharp, self educated servant. She is a local country woman. She has never left the

Analysis Of The Hurt Locker
The statement, The Hurt Locker is one of the greatest war films ever made is a loaded comment that
forces the viewer to consider several things. First, it requires the viewer to identify what makes a good
war film: is it the action, the heroism, the filming technique, sound effect etc.? All these things are
important to consider when determining the quality of a war movie. I argue that The Hurt Locker is
one of the greatest war films ever made because the film reveals war s brutal side, how it removes the
mundane, and its destruction of innocence, while also portraying a realistic hero that one could hope
to emulate. The first reason The Hurt Locker should be considered great is because of its accurate
portrayal about the horrors of war. Chris Hedges repeatedly states, [War] is peddled by mythmakers
historians, war correspondents, filmmakers, novelists, and the state... that war as displayed by the
entertainment industry might, in most cases, as well be ballet and it is because of this that the masses
get a false sense of what war entails (Hedges 2002, pg.3, 84). The Hurt Locker does the opposite of
that, director Kathryn Bigelow decides not to follow the typical structure of a war movie and elects to
include the graphic images and sounds that remove the cover from this dream and reveal a nightmare.
Specifically, the scene that stands out is when Staff Sargent William James finds the body of a boy
who strongly resembles a friend named Beckham, which has been turned into a body bomb.
Here the viewer is forced to look at the body, which is bloated due to it being stuffed with explosives,
and the crude stitching used to close it. Bigelow elects to use a variety of close up and medium shots
to include the reaction that Will and his squad have while staring at the body (Corrigan 2015). This
alone is enough to make the viewer uncomfortable, but where she truly excels is during Will s removal
of the bomb. Hedges states that one of the requirement to wake us up from the typical film is the
deafening and disturbing noise (Hedges 2002, pg.84). Bigelow accomplishes this during the bomb
removal by adding a loud snap every time Will cuts a suture (Bigelow 2009). Now, even if a person
attempts to look away, this

Pros And Cons Of Netflix
Monopolies
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
James Coward Abstract Most Americans tend to put very little thought into the companies that supply
them with their goods and services, however, even less tend to think about how those companies have
a monopoly on the market and what affect that has on small businesses and local producers and
consumers. Aside from the game of Monopoly, few people have had any real desire to control a
market or hold a majority of the shares in a particular sector; these following companies have a
monopoly on their respective markets and it is typically taken for grated by the general population.

A lot of people rely on them without even realizing it. Some of the cons of monopolies include price
fixing that is associated with a monopoly being able to set whichever price they choose for a product
or service simply because the law allows them to do so and there is no viable substitute that can
compete with the monopoly company s product. As has been stated multiple times, monopolies
control the market and are able to provide inferior goods if they so choose at the standard rate.
Monopolies are able to reduce operating costs while keeping prices fixed or elevated. Competition
typically breeds innovation. Companies are searching for the newest and greatest product that will
continue to keep them on top of the market. When a monopoly has a grip on a market, the need to be
innovative and appealing to their customers can quite often disappear. Until the next generation of
technology comes around that allows customers to have an acceptable substitute for the monopoly s
product, customers can be stuck with inferior technology for much longer than is

including the language. The party was forcing a language called Newspeak which was used to prevent
political rebellion by getting rid of all the worlds related to it. Thinking thoughts, which was called
Thoughtcrime, was illegal, and was the worst of all the crimes. Winston was frustrated by the
oppression. He completely hated the Party and he illegally bought a diary, where he illegally wrote
down his thoughts. He had also became fixated on a Party member named O Brein, who Winston
thought was a part of a mysterious group that works against the Party. Winston worked in the Ministry
of Truth. He altered historical records to fit the needs of the Party. He noticed a coworker staring at
him, and he worried that she will turn him in for his Thoughtcrime. Winston felt troubled by the Party
s control of history. The party claimed that the alleged leader of the BrotherHood, Goldstein, was the
most dangerous man alive, but it didn t make sense to Winston. Throughout London, Winston saw
posters showing a man looking down with the words BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU
everywhere he went. BigBrother was the face of the Party, but Winston never determined whether that
was true or not. Winston received a note from the dark haired girl that said I love you . She tells him

Case Of Foss V Harbottle
Name: Wong Ho Yin Cherry
UID: 3035050975
Introduction
Ho, Lo and Ko are the directors of Lemon Limited and it was agreed that the company s profits would
be distributed in three equal shares as directors remuneration. However, when the company turned less
profitable, Ho and Lo decided that Ko must forego profit in favour of capital growth of her investment
without getting her consent. When she requested to be bought out, Ho and Lo refused.
The relevant area of law in this case is unfair prejudice under minority protection. In this case, Ko
may petition court for relief on unfair prejudice grounds if the other two directors banned for from
getting her share of directors remuneration. She may also petition court for winding up order on just
and equitable grounds if she was not allowed to leave the company. It is important to consider whether
the conduct of Ho and Lo was both unfair and prejudicial and thus the petition shall not be prohibited
by the rules in Foss v Harbottle .
Foss v Harbottle
The case of Foss v Harbottle has been seen as a starting point of minority shareholders remedies and it
has set some rules that represent a non intervention policy adopted by the court on proper plaintiff and
majority control principles. The rules also present shareholders from bringing legal actions for wrongs

The Road Of The Dirt Essay
The longer they drove, the slower Joker went and their stops became more frequent. The vegetation
along the roads, left to itself, encroached on the pavement. If anyone had been that way on four wheels
they had to have driven in the middle of the road. The gravel driveways were not only being edged out
from the sides, weeds were sprouting from the middle as well, showing no signs of passage. The
paved drives were less obvious. The men relied on dust and pollen settling on the blacktop,
undisturbed these last months, to tell their tale. The few locked gates the seekers found were well
decorated with spider webs. If anyone is living out this way, they must never leave their place Joker
said pointing out the obvious. Trey agreed adding They must already have everything they need .
Scarletti listened to the felons while answering a call of nature. His target was a grayed, pressure

Stressors Definition
Stressors have been an important aspect of our class journals each week through the semester. Which
leads to the question of where do these stressors come from and why? Stressors are a source of strain
that has both an objective and subjective view. Objectively, in a work setting it is based on how much
you put into the work and the number of hours you are completing. Whereas subjectively, involves
more of the perception of the work and how the work is being done. Strain is the response to these
stressors, which include behavioral, physical and psychological aspects. Behavioral strain has an
impact on a person s ability to perform in the work place and how their feelings have an impact on the
quality of the performance. A physical response is when something is concretely happening to you and
you can feel the strain and pressure from the outcome. The third response is almost a final point of
how a person feels which is psychological. They are burned out mentally and result in anxiety and ...

Analysis Of The Monotheistic Religion Of Judaism
Judaism is one of the most controversial and known religions in the world. Judaism plays a major role
in history, as it almost went extinct during the reign of one of the most brutal people to ever live. But
many people don t know much about the religion, just that it went through tough times or took brutal
events during war time. I believe that it is good to inform others about the monotheistic religion of
Judaism and it s beliefs, because many people ask the same question : How does the Jewish religion
differ from Catholicism? There are many ways to answer this question, but I will deconstruct this by
developing 3 different questions to analyse not only the main question, but to analyse Judaism as a
whole. What is the Jews opinion of Jesus? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of a similarity is their belief in one God. Both religions are monotheistic and believe in
one true divine being. But even this common belief of the two religions has been broken down further.
Although both believe that God the holy one, Judaism does not accept the popular belief of the Holy
Trinity. The Holy Trinity is the three very important sections of beings that make up God: The Father,
The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Judaism insists on the notion of believing in ONE God, being strictly
monotheistic. As Judaism understands this idea, God cannot be made up of parts, even if those parts
are mysteriously united. The Christian notion of trinitarianism is that God is made up of God the
Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Such a view, even if called monotheistic because the
three parts are, by divine mystery, only one God, is incompatible with the Jewish view that such a
division is not possible. (JewCathDifference, The Differences Between Judaism and Christianity,

Corporate Controller
Subject: Analysis of Company s Current Situation
Dear Paul,
After our meeting and analyzing the facts and figures available thoroughly, I came across the
following short term as well as long term issues:
1. Short term issues:
1.1. Requirement to increase the transfer price of carburetors to $ 500
1.2. Impacts of Carburetor Production discontinuance on Engine Division(ED)
2. Long term issues:
2.1. Performance and Organization structure of Division Profit centers or cost center
2.2. Transfer pricing guidelines needed to be revisited
2.3. Implication of Tax and duties and compliance issues
2.4. ED Capacity constraints

Therefore, each division should be autonomous in its decision making. This, however, is not the case
with our company. As a matter of fact, the corporate office is influencing and forcing divisions to
make the buy and sell decisions from each other at the instructed price of 1.25 times of full production
costs. To be a true profit center, the divisions should have the authority to determine and negotiate
prices of their products either based on market or through internal resources to ensure profitability. In
addition, to be able to ensure operational excellence, managing the costs such as production cost,
administrative and selling overheads, should be a priority.
The intervention from the corporate office is rather a de motivating factor for ED when the division is
not allowed to sell at the market price and it cannot sell disregarding the internal clients in the market
to be profitable. On the other hand SD was taking the benefit of this low transfer price from ED and a
high transfer out price to ID, thus reporting a ROI of 15%. When analyzing based on the market
prices, we noted that SD is in fact not contributing to the corporate profitability. That is another
shortcoming that the decisions of both divisions are affected; one is considering dumping a product
having high contribution margins, while the other is

The Star by Arthur C. Clarke and the Juxtaposition of...
When dwelling into the explorations about science and religion, one can find it quite amusing. If
science and religion are to continue to coexist it seems opposed to the conditions of modern thought to
admit that this result can be brought about by the so called
water tight compartment system which, even at the present time, is frequently extolled or considered
possible. (Boutroux, 406) Two powerful forces that coexist yet each of them deny one another, but yet
they define one another. The perfect paradox within the world of both, two opposites that attract and
one cannot exist without the other. Most people fail to understand that; they fail to realize that without
science there is no religion and without religion there is no science. On one hand, science studies and
examines every form of life and thing of known existence. On the other hand, religion studies the pure
feeling and knowledge of a higher being, the omnipresent god who created all that is known. And on
the hand that no one likes to see, you have science that fills in the gaps of religion, and religion that
fills in the gaps of science. By examining a literature work titled The star By Arthur C. Clarke, a work
based off science and religion in itself. I will show you the juxtaposition of science and religion. Some
science fiction is really not much different than any other sci fi story and does not really require the
reader or viewer to think very deeply. However, Arthur C. Clarke s The Star

Colonialism And Imperialism
The country s history begins when the Maya Empire first colonized the area and flourished until about
AD 800. (culturegrams.com) One of their greatest accomplishments in Honduras was the city of
Copan, a city that was abandoned by the Maya people, and eventually became a colonist magnet for
the area when imperialism in Spain took off. Honduras was first inhabited by Spaniards after
Christopher Columbus landed on the Northern Coast of Honduras under the control of the Spanish
King and Queen in 1592. Explorers such as Henry Cortez and Cristóbal de Olid explored the country
and formed colonies. (nationsonline.com) Around this time imperialism already began to affect the
native people already there. The formation of colonies caused conflicts as the nationalistic and racist
ideas the Europeans had were harmful and inconsiderate of the native peoples ways. An example of
this was the battle at Comayagua between the Lenca Indians and the Spanish settlers. This battle was
fought by the Lenca Indians in an attempt to stop further expansion of the Spanish ways and
exploitation of their native culture. The arrival of the Spaniards and their colonization set the scene for
a slippery slope of imperialism s negative effects that were to come. Fast forward to 1821, when
Central America gained their independence from Spain. When they were granted independence Spain
was in shambles to due to France successfully taking over in 1813. (history.com) Since Spain was
taken over and controlled by another country and one that had turned on them after being an ally they
were not too concerned with their colonies overseas due to the Napoleonic Wars. The colonies didn t
benefit France and their battles in Europe so they were granted their independence without a fight. The
brush off of these potentially new countries, did not set them up for a successful future. It left them
without much guidance and caused power struggles throughout the area, all due to the cut off of the
previous imperialistic ways. With no larger country to help them with their creation of a new country,
Honduras went through a couple more name changes and political power discrepancies.
Just after these Central American countries were granted independence, what is

The Law of Attraction
The Law of Attraction Many people in this world live their lives without any aspirations towards
greatness. They think that they don t stand a chance of fulfilling any of the dreams or goals they might
have. Their idea of dreams coming true are far from their imagination and stick around with the absurd
idea of keeping their feet in the ground and stop day dreaming or even think about it. What they don t
know is that by just thinking about it, they re much closer to their dream than what they thought they
were. There are several steps to follow though, steps that will make you reach your goal a lot faster
with just using your mind and that are what I d like to demonstrate you.

Basically every thought you have will contribute to what what s going on in your mind, whether you
want it or not if you think about it you ll attract it. Some people say that this is where the saying Be
careful with what you wish for comes from. It doesn t matter if it s for good or bad by having it in
your head you just might get it.
The law of attraction has been with us always, whether you knew about it or not (Byrne 58). Where
we could see it a lot is with children. Take me for example, when I was little I used to dream about
going to Disney World. I would see the commercials and I would see myself there also. Playing,
meeting my favorite characters, getting on all the rides and just simply having fun. I would pray and
ask my parents to take me. Down deep inside of me I knew I was going to be able to go one day, I
never lost hope. Until one day my aunt decided to organize a trip for the whole family and I just
couldn t believe it! After all that wishing and hoping I finally got to go and made my biggest dream
come true. That s exactly what a person needs to do, have faith that you re going to receive it and just
like a child, don t worry on the how and when to receive it. Just wait and have that certainty of being
able to have it at the right time at the right moment.
What also keeps a lot of people away from their goals is their fear. Fear of hoping and day dream and

According to Comscore, Europe represents 32% of overall Internet searches with Google having 80%

malware on the internet is image and video searches on the web. Sophos reports that 92% of search

of personalized online services, establishing and maintaining user trust and responsible use of data is
critical. Users expect appropriate and relevant content and advertising while also protecting their

has asked the online industry to examine data retention and protection policies.
The Court of Justice for the European Union (CJEU) ordered that search engines are regulators of

(Abril Lipton, 2014). This order requires search engines to remove links from search results intrusive

for online privacy assurance and protection. Interpretation of the law has been ambiguous, the law

Essay on Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant 1724 1804
Immanuel Kant was born on April 22, 1724 in Konigsberg, East Prussia. He was the son of a saddler.
At age 8, he entered the Collegium Fredericianum, a Latin school, where he remained for 8 1/2 years
and studied the classics. He then entered the University of Konigsberg in 1740 to study philosophy,
mathematics, and physics. The death of his father halted his university career so he became a private
tutor. In 1755, he returned to Konigsburg where he later resumed his studies. In 1756, he received a
degree and was made a lecturer, and in 1770 he became a professor.
Kant felt he had to adhere to a very strict schedule during his years as a professor. He would get up

In 1798, the year following his retirement from the University, Kant published a summary of his
religious views. He died on February 12, 1804.
During his lifetime, Kant produced many writings. Scholars usually divide his literary career into two
periods: the Pre critical period and the Critical period. During the Pre critical period, 1747 to 1781, he
wrote many non fictional works and criticisms. Some of them were quot;Thoughts on the True
Estimation of Living Forces quot;, quot;On Fire quot;, quot;A New Explanation of the First Principles
of Metaphysical Knowledge quot;, and quot;On the Forms and Principles of the Sensible and
Intelligible World quot;. From 1770 to 1780, he mainly worked on preparing quot; The Critique of
Pure Reason quot;.
The Critical period lasted from 1781 to 1794. During this period, he wrote quot; The Critique of Pure
Reason quot; in 1781, and quot;Foundation for the Metaphysics of Ethics quot; in 1785. Following the
critical works, Kant published quot;Critique of Practical Reason quot;, quot;Critique of Judgment
quot;, and quot;Religion within the Limits of Mere Reason quot;.
Three main discussions of Kant are Duty, the Formula of the End, and the Kingdom of Ethics. Kant
feels that we act morally when we do our duty, however it is important to distinguish between acting
according to duty and acting from duty. Acting according to duty is when someone else has imposed
the duty. This is an

Why We Should Eat Pork
It seems clear that, there are various different reasons why we consume pork and many people would
feel that all these reasons are enough to justify and explain its consumption. This could be down to the
nutritional value of the meat, the idea that if we didn t eat pigs then they wouldn t exist in the first
place and the philosophical views on the consumption of meat in the first place. However, my research
has also shown that there are many reasons why people feel we should not eat pork. The next section

The researchers also found that it s possible to train pigs and teach them different talents, such as

share a number of cognitive capacities with other highly intelligent species such as dogs,
chimpanzees, elephants, dolphins, and even humans, said neuroscientist Lori Marino of Emory

multiple signs for actions as well as placing coloured pig shaped blocks in the correct coloured holes

News has also reported that, pigs have complex social networks, with them often learning from one
another and cooperating together.
Lastly, researchers in the Netherlands carried out an experiment to understand the behaviours of pigs
in more depth. The experiment went as follows: pigs were placed in 16 groups of six, two of the pigs
in each of the groups were trained to expect either happiness or distress. This was done by playing

Difference Between Civil and Criminal Actions Essay
Civil and Criminal Actions 1 The Differences Between Civil and Criminal Actions Civil and Criminal
Actions 2 Abstract Civil actions protect individuals rather than the public. Civil actions protect the
people, the injury in civil actions is primarily towards the individual, causing no harm to society.
While criminal actions prohibits conduct that causes or threatens the public interest, defines and warns
people of the acts that are subject to criminal punishments, distinguishes between serious and minor
offenses, and imposes punishment to protect society and to satisfy the demands for retribution,

The differences between civil and criminal actions are that civil actions usually involve private
disputes between people and organizations. While, criminal actions involve an action that is
considered to be harmful to society as a whole. Civil actions generally result in monetary damages or
orders to do or not to do something. Criminal actions have jail time as potential punishments. Civil
actions are proved by lower standards of proof by a preponderance of the evidence. (Lippman, 2007)
Civil liability is considered less blameworthy, punishments are less severe. In criminal actions, crimes
must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt. The primary purpose or function of the criminal law is to
help maintain social order and stability. Criminal actions almost always allow for a trial by jury, in
which the verdict is established by the jury. Civil actions do allow juries in some instances, but many
civil cases will be decided by a judge. A legal action for a civil wrong is brought by the person, rather
than by a state prosecutor. (Lippman, 2007) The purpose of the civil action is to compensate you with
money for your damages as well as physical and emotional injuries you may have suffered during the
incident. The distinction between crime and torts is that crime is a conduct of shown to have taken

Te The Drink That Changed The World
According to Laura C. Martin, in the book, Tea: the Drink that changed the World, tea is an aromatic
beverage widely consumed around the world. The beverage is prepared by pouring boiling water over
Camellia Sinensis leaves, the major tealeaves. The leaves grow in different areas in Asia, but most
notably in Chian and India (Martin, 2007). There are a variety of tea flavors. For example, Darjeeeling
and Chinese green tea have a bitter flavor, while other teas have sweet, grassy or floral flavor

All of a sudden, a light breeze caused little leaves to fall into the water. The emperor tasted the water
and found it delicious (Higgins Burke, 2014). Tea became an essential beverage in China. While the
story of tea indicates that tea was introduced from Ancient China, tea has been a crucial trade product
that travelled through centuries to reach almost every corner in the world. Higgins and Burke argue
that from China to North American, tea developed to new variations, flavors, uses, production
methods, and equipment. Also, tea rituals have developed and taken a significant place in local
cultures (Higgins Burke, 2014).

Galileo And Copernicus And Galileo
During most of the 16th and 17th centuries, it was not easy for scientists to make new discoveries and
present them to the world. The Catholic Church, a dominating force during that period, persecuted
anyone who would spread ideas and opinions that contradicted what the Bible stated. Both Copernicus
and Galileo believed in the heliocentric theory, also called Copernicus theory, which stated that the
sun was at the centre of the universe and the earth revolves around it. However, the Catholic Church
did not agree with this idea because the Bible stated that the earth was at the centre of the universe and
the sun revolved around it, which is the complete opposite. Due to this disagreement, Copernicus and
Galileo were threaded by the Catholic Church and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The letter was made public and Church Inquisition consultants pronounced Copernican theory
heretical. In 1616, Galileo was ordered not to hold, teach, or defend in any manner the Copernican
theory regarding the motion of the earth. Although it stopped Galileo from teaching what he believed
for a few years, seven years later he would be right back on the same track.
In 1623, a friend of Galileo, Cardinal Maffeo Barberini, was selected as Pope Urban VIII. He allowed
Galileo to pursue his work on astronomy and even encouraged him to publish it, on condition it be
objective and not advocate Copernican theory. In 1632, Galileo published the Dialogue Concerning
the Two Chief World Systems, a discussion among three people: one who supports Copernicus
heliocentric theory of the universe, one who argues against it, and one who is impartial. Though
Galileo claimed Dialogues was neutral, it was clearly not. Finally, it was time for the Roman Catholic
Church to

Child Brain Essay
The child s brain is similar to Mary Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow and other
nursery rhymes. The brain is always expanding and learning new concepts within the brain itself. In
the case of the child s brain, some of these words are important, secondary, and minor within the
human brain. In regard to the important words to the child s brain, the best place to start is with the
definitions of; dyslexia, epilepsy, seizure, and learning. Along with the meanings of key terms, they
were supported by statistics about dyslexia and epilepsy. An example of this 70 80% of people with
poor reading skills, are likely dyslexic. An strong evidence of proof of epilepsy that we have is, the
incidence of epilepsy is higher in young children older adults. This is a great starting point to then,
explain about the neuronal connect and how it is different from the amount an adult has in their brain.
Next was talking about both the right and left hemisphere of the brain and the functions, such as the
experience, environment, listen, comprehension, hearing, understanding, vision, judgment and vision.

Development of schema, assimilation, accommodation, and disequilibrium happening in the left side

Magic In The Middle Ages
In the introduction of the book Magic in the Middle Ages chapter, one emphasizes the definition of
magic. During the medieval era, Europeans believed that there were two types of magic, which were
called natural and demonic. As natural magic was considered to have a correlation with science as the
Wolfsthurn handbook illustrated the usage of a combination of herbs and magic in conjunction. For
example, using herbs to treat an illness with the addition of reciting specific words was deemed as
natural magic. On the other hand, demonic magic was not thought to be a form of science but was a
perverted depiction of religion. That demonic magic s power source was from demons and that words
that could not be interpreted were thought to be demon names. In addition, treatments that involved
animal skin from the Wolfsthurn book would be considered demonic magic as it was suggested that it
was a ceremonial sacrifice to demons.

As the Romans believed that people that suffered violent deaths were described to possess
supernatural power. The Romans would often attempt to summon the spirit of these individuals
through the practice of necromancy in order to obtain their power. Christians were accused of using
magic as well since they viewed Jesus Christ as a transcendent being that was all powerful.
Consequently, since Jesus Christ had a gruesome death the Roman asserted that Christianity s
followers were conducting magic by worshiping Jesus Christ since he had a terrible death. Moreover,
the lecture on Medieval European Conceptualizations of Magic and Witchcraft focused on defining
what magic is. As Christianity deemed that magic wasn t associated with the true religion that it
spawned from demons. That magic summoned supernatural powers to commit malicious deeds, while
miracles could only come from

Comparing Hawaii And Wyoming
Family Vacationing Hawaii and Wyoming are two states often visited because of the variety of
activities they offer. Even though both states appear different, they actually do have similarities.
Hawaii is a tropical island with a moderately warm climate year round. Because of its climate, visitors
generally enjoy outside activities. Wyoming is a landlocked state that usually has cooler climate.
However, in the summer, it can rival Hawaii for heat. In Wyoming people spend a great deal of time
driving around, taking pictures and exploring new bucket list places. Also, activities such as hiking,
wagon riding, and cookouts allow people to be outside during their visit. [Thesis]: Although both

They each have waterfalls that were once dried up from hot climate. Both states have volcanoes and
are made from a volcanic eruption. The Big Island of Hawaii is basically a rock formed by lava.
Yellowstone in Wyoming is a large, rocky grassland formed by an eruption. Surprisingly, Hawaii has
mountains just like Wyoming. The Grand Teton mountains are stunning to look at and have snow on
top of each peak. Hawaii has one main mountain called Mauna Kea which has snow on top of it even
in warm climate. The activities and food are the same in Hawaii and Wyoming. In Hawaii, my family
went to a luau which was like a cookout. Here, they served roasted pig in the ground, sides, and fruit.
The food is not much different than in Alabama. However, some restaurants did serve bison burgers
and different fish than I am used to. In Wyoming, we went to two different cookouts. The first one was
on Snake River and they served steak, potatoes, corn, and rolls. The second cookout on a wagon ride
had the same food as the first one, which is similar to food in Alabama. Some restaurants served lamb,
bison, and tenderloin that my family is not used to. The transportation in Hawaii and Wyoming is the
same. My parents and I had to fly from Atlanta to both states because it is such a great distance. We
had to rent a car on both trips. To get around the Big Island of Hawaii or to see hidden places, driving
a long distance was required. Wyoming took at least thirty minutes to get from one place to

White House Descriptive Writing
The lights of the highway flickered as I jogged my way down the long narrow street into the dim lit
alley. Mom told me to be back at eleven o clock on the dot, I thought to myself as I checked my
watch. It was a dark and chilly winter night. There wasn t much of nothing going on nobody outside
just every now, and then a dog would let out a loud and frightening bark. It was starting to get cold as
my clock hit 10:30 pm, as I enter the last ally from my house a white van drove past me going real
slow. I thought nothing of it as the van speed passed me. I was out of the alley and stopped to take a
breath, when smack! Shocking pain and ache flew through my body like a wildfire. I regained
conscience to the feeling of being dragged across the smooth lawn of a old beaten down white house.
There were two tall figures looked like males, but I couldn t make them out because my vision was
still a little blurry. The men dragged me in the house and up a set of stairs. I got the ... Show more

him why I as here and he only let out a meer laugh. He picked me up by my hair and dragged me out
of the main room back down into the main room. There was drugs and alcohol cans everywhere.
There was a broken shard of glass on the floor. I spotted as the man sat me down on the couch and
open the door to outside it was very dark and the only light shining in was the dark moon light. He
walked outside to grab something, as I quickly picked up the glass and put it under me. I was scared
and paranoid out of my mind, and I knew if I was going to die it wasn t going to be without a fight.
The tall stern man walked in with a large rusty box. He walked over and grabbed me by my hair. I
yanked out the shard of glass and sliced his hand. The only thing I seen was blood going everywhere. I
dashed out the door into the dark moon

Should Female Contruction Workers Earn the Same Wages as Male
Ever since women have been able to vote, there have been more rights for women everywhere in
America. Somehow in construction working, women get lower paid than men. Should they be paid the
same as men? The working area is the same, so why is it that women have lower payments because of
their gender? This should be a new rule, for women have the same exact rights as men. Everyone is
working the same, so why not? Finally, this can reduce women strikes.
Working class women internalize their own oppression. These women learn the stereotypes that define
their lives at an early age. Working class women strive to maintain the traditional feminine ideal while
simultaneously struggling with the limitations of class.

In this essay I will look at whether the inequality between men and women is a human universal, or
whether there are or have been societies in which women shared ... sexuality at its centre, making the
penis the only recognised and valued sexual organ (Smart). Female sexuality is constructed as lack of
or a void because her genitals offer us nothing to see (Irigaray), thereby her desire is framed as an urge
to come to possess the valued organ, which is the penis. Freud s account of sexuality was initially
dismissed by Kate Millett in 1969 as she argued his ideas were self interested and just plain silly,

How Much Power and Liberty Did the Constitution Give to...
How much power and liberty did the constitution give to the people? The constitution is the document
that has framed and shaped the United States from inception. It is the document that is defended by all
new presidents and also the document which affords the citizens of the United States freedoms and
rights that cannot be removed. In its drafting it shaped the formation of a new country and a new style
of governance. It is a ‘bottom up as opposed to established ways of government which are ‘top
down . However for all its virtues the Constitution is somewhat ambiguous and there is some debate
of the intent of the drafters, did they intend to give as much power or did they intend to give less
power to the people? The Constitution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Electoral College is devised as to proportion the votes to the population of the states. So the
number of electors for each state is the number of house representatives and senators combined.
Therefore New York currently has 31 House representatives and 2 senators, so it has 33 electors for
the Electoral College. When Americans are voting for a President they are actually voting for a board
of electors who then vote for the president. But these electors don t have to follow what the majority
of people in that state voted for; they can if they so wish vote for another candidate. This has happened
on some occasions in the 1948 presidential election one of Tennessee s electors voted for J. Strom
Thurmond instead of voting for Harry Truman. This shows a blatant disregard for democratic
principles, as the drafters of the constitution did not want a direct link between voters and the
presidency. They did not believe that ordinary people could make sophisticated and intelligent
decisions. It shows that they had a healthy interest in their own self interest, perhaps following the
maxim of Thomas Gordon Whatever is good for the people is bad for their governors . In theory this
could still happen in modern America, as the board of electors do not have to follow what the voters
say in the election. This shows to me an evident democratic deficit. There is not just a deficit in
Congress or in the Presidency, but also in the State legislatures that is set

  • 2. Sports Data Analysis Essay The use of computerized statistical analysis has developed into a vital tool in the world of sports. Using data analytics to project player abilities, indicative of their potential future performance, is now an important part of team decision making. This analysis can provide information that makes the difference between adding a quality player, as opposed to one who does not perform up to expectations. Diverse Use of Data Another reason why analytical tools are so vital to a team s success is how this raw data that is used. Coaching staffs and trainers are not the only ones to benefit from data that is organized and usable. Medical staff coordinates their own block of data to help players not only recover from injuries, but implement training methods that are the most successful in preventing them in the first place. Game strategies are developed using the mass amount of historical data from previous contests. Before analytical capabilities expanded, it took boxes of written game records stacked on desks in coaching offices. No Starting after the termination of the Seven Year s war, by the Peace of Paris, England repeatedly violated the American Colonists rights. A series of events, happening between 1763(ending of the Seven Years war) and 1775 (starting of the revolution), could be taken as motives for the American s revolution. The Americans claimed that through both, the Sugar Act (1764) and the Stamp Act (1765), the British dishonored their rights to taxation. The Townshend Acts also infuriated the Americans, and as in all other circumstances, they were willing to fight for their rights. The final justification for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Americans surely refused when asked, by the parliament to revoke the circular letter passed by the Massachusetts assembly. This created more unity among the colonies, which added to the Acts, were one more justification for their rebellion. The Coercive Acts, passed in 1774, were the biggest justification for the revolution. They were known as the Intolerable Acts. The Acts closed the port of Boston, restructured the Massachusetts government, allowed British officials to be tried in court in either Canada or Europe, and allowed troops to be quartered wherever needed. The Americans felt that all these were violations of their rights and that they had been forced to obey laws that violated their rights. All the above decribed Acts and laws, were a justification for the revolution. However, they are not valid causes for the rebellion. Considering that the main justification for the revolution was the passing of the Coercive Acts, these Acts, were only passed because of the Boston Tea party. The Americans might have said that they were full of all the taxes, and that Englang went too far with the Tea Act. However Most of the taxes the Americans paid, were much lower than the taxes the Britsh paid over the same goods. Ultimately, the colonists were justified in their rebellion against England. Alexie uses his family and culture to create the setting, and he also uses it to create a three person reflection of himself through his characters Thomas Builds The Fire, Victor Joseph, and Victor Polatkin. One of the things that contributed to Alexie s writing was his family. Sherman Alexie was born in Spokane, Washington, on October 7, 1966, the son of Sherman Joseph Alexie and Lillian Agnes (née Cox) Alexie (Sax). Junior was very persistent and physical, which as Alexie described as part of himself. The three predominant characters in his first novel, Reservation Blues, Alexie has described as the holy trinity of me (McFarland). Victor proceeded to argue with Thomas about the guitar. He is trying to get him to stop playing songs by making him play a specific song. What happens if you can t play the song? Victor asked. Then you can kick my ass some more. We ll kick your ass anyway, Victor said (Alexie 15). Victor also used an electric fence to be mean to Thomas. Watch this, Victor said as he dropped a foot long water snake onto the fence. Thomas nearly choked on the smell (Alexie 71). Thomas did not want to say anything in fear of making it worse. Thomas was a little frivolous around Victor Junior once again tried to get Victor to stop but it did not work. Victor drug Thomas over to a barrel where he had a rattlesnake inside. Grab the fence, Victor said. Or grab the snake (Alexie 71). This was quite a shrewd thing to do, but Thomas was more crafty when he touched the snake, knowing it was dead when Victor did not. Victor can be implacable and arduous about what he wants people to do. Victor was also drunk a lot. Do you got a beer? (Alexie 19) Junior asked one of the Indians on the reservation that everybody knew did not drink like that. He got drunk almost and passed asleep in the water truck every night. Another book had an example of the effects of not having free speech, The Giver written by Lois Lowry. If the world had these three main laws the world would be much simpler. The first law should be thou shalt not kill. Killing darkens the soul and turns a good person into a naughty one. Killing is vicious and not only hurts the person being killed but all of his family and friends. Thou shalt not kill is a commandment from our Holy Father. If God thought this rule is important enough to carve into stone, it is important enough to follow. In the book Harry Potter written by J. K. • 13. The Partition onf India The Partition of India in August, 1947 was a significant event in history that accounted for the separation of one of the world s oldest civilization into two, independent nations Pakistan and India. Like many other wars in history, The Partition of India was instigated by religious, political and social conflict. This resulted in violence, discrimination and the largest human displacement in contemporary history. While the Partition was well studied, much of our understanding was focused on the political side of history, not the human side of it. This was why oral history played an important role in manifesting the complexity of a historical event. Our focus here is Maya Rani s testimony from Butalia s book, The Other Side of Silence: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To Rani, people dying here, others dying there (cited in Butalia, 2000, p.268) was something that happened every day, it was no surprise to her. Thus, Rani s cynical view about the future of India and Pakistan was conceivably drawn from memories of witnessing horrendous fights and strife throughout her whole life (cited in Butalia, 2000, p.268). Official documents have little say about women and children of the Partition as they were viewed as a collective. Earlier reports on the abduction of women only gave the reader the statistics and brief statements that glorified community nationalism rather than the victims itself. Many failed to dwell into the individual trauma of this particular group (Menon Bhasin, 1998, p.11). Rani s testimony was significant in that not only it opened us to another outlook from a witness point of view; it also revealed that people who were not physically involved were also affected psychologically. This was also the only part in the testimony where Rani displayed sympathy and grievance. Her sensitivity and deep connection with these victims correlated with age and gender. Her emphasis on the words young and girl throughout her testimony evoked our sense of disbelief that people would do such inhumane things to each other (cited in Butalia, 2000, p.271). • 14. Scalable Cache Coherence Protocols Are Essential For... Abstract Scalable cache coherence protocols are essential for multiprocessor systems to satisfy the requirement for more dominant high performance servers with shared memory. However, the small size of the directory cache of the increasingly bigger systems may result in recurrent directory entries evictions and, consequently, invalidations of cached blocks that will gravely corrupt system performance. According to prior studies, only a single core accesses a considerable fraction of data blocks, so it is needless to monitor these in the directory structure. Using the technique of uniprocessor systems and deactivating their consistency protocol is the best way to identify those private blocks actively. The directory caches will stop the tracking of a substantial amount of blocks after the deactivation of the protocol, which will minimize their load and enhance their adequate size. The proposal only needs minor changes because the operating system collaborates in finding the private blocks. There are two fundamental contributions to the study. The first is to reveal that the classification of data blocks at block level assists to identify significantly more classified data blocks as compared to work in a few earlier studies of organizing the cache blocks at the granularity of page and sub page. The method minimizes the proportion of blocks in the directory necessary for tracking significantly in comparison to the same course approaches of level classification. It, in turn, ... • 15. Narration In Wuthering Heights The Narration of Wuthering Heights This research paper propose to portray the different forms of narration in Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë. The narrative style that Brontë uses is unique. It includes multiple points of views. The reader is two times away from the events, sometimes three times. In the beginning Lockwood narrates the events in a diary form, then he starts telling the events from Nelly s point of view. When Nelly s narration starts as a witness on the events of the past the readers are two steps removed from the events. But when she narrates events that other characters told her, the readers are 3 steps away from the story. However, such narrative distance doesn t make the readers emotionally distant from characters or events. Brontë uses different narrators that leads to the use of different literary techniques to keep the readers close and connected to the events. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 16. Analysis Of The Hurt Locker The statement, The Hurt Locker is one of the greatest war films ever made is a loaded comment that forces the viewer to consider several things. First, it requires the viewer to identify what makes a good war film: is it the action, the heroism, the filming technique, sound effect etc.? All these things are important to consider when determining the quality of a war movie. I argue that The Hurt Locker is one of the greatest war films ever made because the film reveals war s brutal side, how it removes the mundane, and its destruction of innocence, while also portraying a realistic hero that one could hope to emulate. The first reason The Hurt Locker should be considered great is because of its accurate portrayal about the horrors of war. Chris Hedges repeatedly states, [War] is peddled by mythmakers historians, war correspondents, filmmakers, novelists, and the state... that war as displayed by the entertainment industry might, in most cases, as well be ballet and it is because of this that the masses get a false sense of what war entails (Hedges 2002, pg.3, 84). The Hurt Locker does the opposite of that, director Kathryn Bigelow decides not to follow the typical structure of a war movie and elects to include the graphic images and sounds that remove the cover from this dream and reveal a nightmare. Specifically, the scene that stands out is when Staff Sargent William James finds the body of a boy who strongly resembles a friend named Beckham, which has been turned into a body bomb. Here the viewer is forced to look at the body, which is bloated due to it being stuffed with explosives, and the crude stitching used to close it. Bigelow elects to use a variety of close up and medium shots to include the reaction that Will and his squad have while staring at the body (Corrigan 2015). This alone is enough to make the viewer uncomfortable, but where she truly excels is during Will s removal of the bomb. Hedges states that one of the requirement to wake us up from the typical film is the deafening and disturbing noise (Hedges 2002, pg.84). Bigelow accomplishes this during the bomb removal by adding a loud snap every time Will cuts a suture (Bigelow 2009). Now, even if a person attempts to look away, this ... Some of the cons of monopolies include price fixing that is associated with a monopoly being able to set whichever price they choose for a product or service simply because the law allows them to do so and there is no viable substitute that can compete with the monopoly company s product. As has been stated multiple times, monopolies control the market and are able to provide inferior goods if they so choose at the standard rate. Monopolies are able to reduce operating costs while keeping prices fixed or elevated. Competition typically breeds innovation. Companies are searching for the newest and greatest product that will continue to keep them on top of the market. • 23. Stressors Definition Stressors have been an important aspect of our class journals each week through the semester. Which leads to the question of where do these stressors come from and why? Stressors are a source of strain that has both an objective and subjective view. Objectively, in a work setting it is based on how much you put into the work and the number of hours you are completing. Whereas subjectively, involves more of the perception of the work and how the work is being done. Strain is the response to these stressors, which include behavioral, physical and psychological aspects. Behavioral strain has an impact on a person s ability to perform in the work place and how their feelings have an impact on the quality of the performance. A physical response is when something is concretely happening to you and you can feel the strain and pressure from the outcome. But many people don t know much about the religion, just that it went through tough times or took brutal events during war time. I believe that it is good to inform others about the monotheistic religion of Judaism and it s beliefs, because many people ask the same question : How does the Jewish religion differ from Catholicism? There are many ways to answer this question, but I will deconstruct this by developing 3 different questions to analyse not only the main question, but to analyse Judaism as a whole. What is the Jews opinion of Jesus? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An example of a similarity is their belief in one God. Both religions are monotheistic and believe in one true divine being. But even this common belief of the two religions has been broken down further. Although both believe that God the holy one, Judaism does not accept the popular belief of the Holy Trinity. The Holy Trinity is the three very important sections of beings that make up God: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. Judaism insists on the notion of believing in ONE God, being strictly monotheistic. As Judaism understands this idea, God cannot be made up of parts, even if those parts are mysteriously united. The Christian notion of trinitarianism is that God is made up of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Such a view, even if called monotheistic because the three parts are, by divine mystery, only one God, is incompatible with the Jewish view that such a division is not possible. This, however, is not the case with our company. As a matter of fact, the corporate office is influencing and forcing divisions to make the buy and sell decisions from each other at the instructed price of 1.25 times of full production costs. To be a true profit center, the divisions should have the authority to determine and negotiate prices of their products either based on market or through internal resources to ensure profitability. In addition, to be able to ensure operational excellence, managing the costs such as production cost, administrative and selling overheads, should be a priority. The intervention from the corporate office is rather a de motivating factor for ED when the division is not allowed to sell at the market price and it cannot sell disregarding the internal clients in the market to be profitable. On the other hand SD was taking the benefit of this low transfer price from ED and a high transfer out price to ID, thus reporting a ROI of 15%. • 26. The Star by Arthur C. Clarke and the Juxtaposition of... When dwelling into the explorations about science and religion, one can find it quite amusing. If science and religion are to continue to coexist it seems opposed to the conditions of modern thought to admit that this result can be brought about by the so called water tight compartment system which, even at the present time, is frequently extolled or considered possible. (Boutroux, 406) Two powerful forces that coexist yet each of them deny one another, but yet they define one another. The perfect paradox within the world of both, two opposites that attract and one cannot exist without the other. Most people fail to understand that; they fail to realize that without science there is no religion and without religion there is no science. On one hand, science studies and examines every form of life and thing of known existence. On the other hand, religion studies the pure feeling and knowledge of a higher being, the omnipresent god who created all that is known. And on the hand that no one likes to see, you have science that fills in the gaps of religion, and religion that fills in the gaps of science. By examining a literature work titled The star By Arthur C. Clarke, a work based off science and religion in itself. I will show you the juxtaposition of science and religion. • 28. Colonialism And Imperialism The country s history begins when the Maya Empire first colonized the area and flourished until about AD 800. (culturegrams.com) One of their greatest accomplishments in Honduras was the city of Copan, a city that was abandoned by the Maya people, and eventually became a colonist magnet for the area when imperialism in Spain took off. Honduras was first inhabited by Spaniards after Christopher Columbus landed on the Northern Coast of Honduras under the control of the Spanish King and Queen in 1592. Explorers such as Henry Cortez and Cristóbal de Olid explored the country and formed colonies. (nationsonline.com) Around this time imperialism already began to affect the native people already there. The formation of colonies caused conflicts as the nationalistic and racist ideas the Europeans had were harmful and inconsiderate of the native peoples ways. An example of this was the battle at Comayagua between the Lenca Indians and the Spanish settlers. This battle was fought by the Lenca Indians in an attempt to stop further expansion of the Spanish ways and exploitation of their native culture. The arrival of the Spaniards and their colonization set the scene for a slippery slope of imperialism s negative effects that were to come. Fast forward to 1821, when Central America gained their independence from Spain. When they were granted independence Spain was in shambles to due to France successfully taking over in 1813. (history.com) Since Spain was taken over and controlled by another country and one that had turned on them after being an ally they were not too concerned with their colonies overseas due to the Napoleonic Wars. The colonies didn t benefit France and their battles in Europe so they were granted their independence without a fight. The brush off of these potentially new countries, did not set them up for a successful future. It left them without much guidance and caused power struggles throughout the area, all due to the cut off of the previous imperialistic ways. Also, tea rituals have developed and taken a significant place in local cultures (Higgins Burke, 2014). Tea in the United States: According to the article, About American Tea culture, every time tea is introduced to a new country, it implicates and mutates to a new tea culture that deeply influences the society (bonteavant, 2012). Tea is probably the only beverage that spurs dramatic change in the societies to which it is introduced providing propulsion for poetry, meditation, civil disobedience, economic shifts, social and spiritual rituals. Also, tea has greatly been valued as a medicine or even used as currency or as food (Bonteavant, 2012). Firewire Surfboards Essay Firewire Surfboards Firewire Surfboards Firewire Surfboards Firewire Surfboards was launched in 2005 by a group of friends who wanted to create surfboards for just anyone that wanted to go out and enjoy the waves. The claim is that the Firewire surfboards are lighter, stronger, and more flexible than the based competition s surfboards. In order to keep up with the competition Firewire decided to start making custom surfboards instead of just their usual off the rack sizes. With the analysis of Firewire Surfboards, there is definitely a promising future in store for the company. With the technology that Firewire uses in their surfboards, it enables them to make lighter, stronger, more flexible surf boards. Materials have always led the advances in surfboards (Longnecker, Petty, Palich, Moore, 2010). With the company that supplied 90 percent of surfboard makers core materials closing and companies having to find different materials to make their boards, Firewire has a great opportunity to take over since their surfboards are not made of the same materials that all other boards are. Although this will allow them to take over the surfboard industry, potential rivals will more than likely try to find ways to keep up with Firewire just like in any other industry. Firewire will still have a good chance of keeping ahead since they will have a nice foundation laid before the other companies can catch up. Firewire is using the unsegmented marketing strategy. This strategy can sometimes be successful, but it assumes that all customers desire the same basic benefit from the product or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Galileo And Copernicus And Galileo During most of the 16th and 17th centuries, it was not easy for scientists to make new discoveries and present them to the world. The Catholic Church, a dominating force during that period, persecuted anyone who would spread ideas and opinions that contradicted what the Bible stated. Both Copernicus and Galileo believed in the heliocentric theory, also called Copernicus theory, which stated that the sun was at the centre of the universe and the earth revolves around it. However, the Catholic Church did not agree with this idea because the Bible stated that the earth was at the centre of the universe and the sun revolved around it, which is the complete opposite. In 1623, a friend of Galileo, Cardinal Maffeo Barberini, was selected as Pope Urban VIII. He allowed Galileo to pursue his work on astronomy and even encouraged him to publish it, on condition it be objective and not advocate Copernican theory. In 1632, Galileo published the Dialogue Concerning the Two Chief World Systems, a discussion among three people: one who supports Copernicus heliocentric theory of the universe, one who argues against it, and one who is impartial. • 40. Magic In The Middle Ages In the introduction of the book Magic in the Middle Ages chapter, one emphasizes the definition of magic. During the medieval era, Europeans believed that there were two types of magic, which were called natural and demonic. As natural magic was considered to have a correlation with science as the Wolfsthurn handbook illustrated the usage of a combination of herbs and magic in conjunction. For example, using herbs to treat an illness with the addition of reciting specific words was deemed as natural magic. On the other hand, demonic magic was not thought to be a form of science but was a perverted depiction of religion. That demonic magic s power source was from demons and that words that could not be interpreted were thought to be demon names. In addition, treatments that involved animal skin from the Wolfsthurn book would be considered demonic magic as it was suggested that it was a ceremonial sacrifice to demons. • 41. Comparing Hawaii And Wyoming Family Vacationing Hawaii and Wyoming are two states often visited because of the variety of activities they offer. Even though both states appear different, they actually do have similarities. Hawaii is a tropical island with a moderately warm climate year round. Because of its climate, visitors generally enjoy outside activities. Wyoming is a landlocked state that usually has cooler climate. However, in the summer, it can rival Hawaii for heat. In Wyoming people spend a great deal of time driving around, taking pictures and exploring new bucket list places. Also, activities such as hiking, wagon riding, and cookouts allow people to be outside during their visit. [Thesis]: Although both Hawaii and Wyoming have similarities such as amazing ... The Grand Teton mountains are stunning to look at and have snow on top of each peak. Hawaii has one main mountain called Mauna Kea which has snow on top of it even in warm climate. The activities and food are the same in Hawaii and Wyoming. In Hawaii, my family went to a luau which was like a cookout. Here, they served roasted pig in the ground, sides, and fruit. The food is not much different than in Alabama. However, some restaurants did serve bison burgers and different fish than I am used to. In Wyoming, we went to two different cookouts. The first one was on Snake River and they served steak, potatoes, corn, and rolls. The second cookout on a wagon ride had the same food as the first one, which is similar to food in Alabama. Some restaurants served lamb, bison, and tenderloin that my family is not used to. The transportation in Hawaii and Wyoming is the same. Somehow in construction working, women get lower paid than men. Should they be paid the same as men? The working area is the same, so why is it that women have lower payments because of their gender? This should be a new rule, for women have the same exact rights as men. Everyone is working the same, so why not? Finally, this can reduce women strikes. • 44. How Much Power and Liberty Did the Constitution Give to... How much power and liberty did the constitution give to the people? The constitution is the document that has framed and shaped the United States from inception. It is the document that is defended by all new presidents and also the document which affords the citizens of the United States freedoms and rights that cannot be removed. In its drafting it shaped the formation of a new country and a new style of governance. It is a ‘bottom up as opposed to established ways of government which are ‘top down . So the number of electors for each state is the number of house representatives and senators combined. Therefore New York currently has 31 House representatives and 2 senators, so it has 33 electors for the Electoral College. When Americans are voting for a President they are actually voting for a board of electors who then vote for the president. But these electors don t have to follow what the majority of people in that state voted for; they can if they so wish vote for another candidate. This has happened on some occasions in the 1948 presidential election one of Tennessee s electors voted for J. Strom Thurmond instead of voting for Harry Truman. This shows a blatant disregard for democratic principles, as the drafters of the constitution did not want a direct link between voters and the presidency. They did not believe that ordinary people could make sophisticated and intelligent decisions. It shows that they had a healthy interest in their own self interest, perhaps following the maxim of Thomas Gordon Whatever is good for the people is bad for their governors . In theory this could still happen in modern America, as the board of electors do not have to follow what the voters say in the election. This shows to me an evident democratic deficit.
