A Traditional Catholic Mass Change Based Upon The Place...
Many people have preconceived notions of how a religious service is conducted and looks like, even if
they are not a practitioner or have never attended a service. With Catholicism, people expect that the
services are only held in churches that are set aside from other institutions. People imagine the
attendees in semi formal and conservative dress. The times of a service are even held to an imaginary
guideline. If a religion breaks from the pattern, people are inclined to believe that the service is of a
lesser quality or may not truly be affiliated with the Catholic Church. The Church has had to adapt to
the situations it has been placed in because of the ever changing world it resides in. The purpose of
this paper is to examine how the ideas and images of a traditional Catholic Mass change based upon
the place Mass occurs, I am looking specifically at the service at the Interfaith Center located on the
University of California Irvine (UCI) campus. The University Catholic Community (UCC) at UC
Irvine is a campus organization that provides church services to the Catholic community. The
Interfaith building is used to hold services for the students who cannot go elsewhere. There are various
youth ministries within the community that cater to various ethnic groups, though anyone is allowed
to join: Vietnamese, Filipino, Korean, and one that is for anyone. By being focused on catering to the
college student demographic, the UCC has had to adapt to the needs of the students

Cgi Lesson Plan
How did my teaching/learning activities help students reach the goals for today?
My goal for my CGI lesson was to have students solve a word problem using anyone of their math
strategies that they have been working on with the master teacher. However, I also wanted them to add
an equation sentence to their strategy because that is what they will be doing in 1st grade rather than
just drawing pictures. When I was grading their work, I can say 81% of the class met the objective for
the day, which means only 5 students got the problem wrong and 22 students showed a strategy with
the correct answer. Out of the 22 students who used a math strategy and got the right answer, only 3
didn t show an equation sentence. Grading students work made me ... Show more content on

Each student has a magnet with their number on it and they can either move it up for good behavior or
down for bad behavior. When I am trying to get everyone to look at the TV for instruction and
students are not engaged, that is when I call on a few students to move their magnet up, which gets the
other students attention because they want their magnet moved up. I feel this is the best strategy that I
learned, however, when the master teacher does it, it works a lot better than when I do it. Once
students start to get comfortable with me, I feel that the classroom management strategies that I use,
just like the master teacher, will work a lot better.
To try and get my students under control, especially when they re talking, I have been using chants to
get them focused on the task at hand. This is something that the master teacher does often, so I want to
continue the routine. However, when she does the chants, I feel like the class responds better, but I am
hoping that students will feel comfortable with me soon. Some chants include: I say macaroni and
they say cheese or When I say voices you say? and the students say, shhh and we continue that until

Ezra-Nehemiah
The inspiration for Bede s reform program comes from a pattern that can be found in the book of Ezra
Nehemiah which can be conveniently divided into three sections. Each of these sections deals with a
similar situation and issues: a return from exile which includes projects of restoration and reform.
Today modern English translations of the Bible print the text of Ezra Nehemiah as two distinct books.
By having Ezra and Nehemiah as separate books was not always the way in which these texts were
written; they were traditionally combined into one book in the Hebrew and Greek Bibles. However, by
considering them as one document, it will help to make it much easier to understand the book in its
three parts. The first portion of Ezra Nehemiah ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bede begins by levelling a list of grievances that he has regarding the state of the episcopate in
Northumbria. According to him, the bishops were neglecting their duties such as preaching, teaching,
visitations, and confirmation. There was also a general decline in the moral behaviour of bishops.
Bede mentions this in his letter when he writes that they are given to laughter, jokes, idle tales,
feasting and drunkenness and other attractions of a loose way of life. Bishops would typically only
preach if they received money for it, which led to a spiritual impoverishment for the laity. The
laypeople lacked adequate instruction in the faith not only because of the waywardness of bishops but
also because there were not enough priests to give a good example to the laity to imitate. Another
abuse that Bede objects to is the unjust taxation of the lay faithful and any other forms of clerical
avarice. Many remote farms, hamlets, and small villages were neglected by their bishop; they were
still, however, expected to pay their ecclesial taxes. Bede also mentions that there simply are not
enough dioceses in Northumbria, which would help to resolve the laity s lack of spiritual education.
The reason why bishops were opposed to the creation of new sees is that larger dioceses...

The XTL (Anything to Liquid) Process Essay
XTL (Anything to Liquid) is recently emerging phrase that represented all of technologies intended to
convert any source of carbon to liquid hydrocarbons. These processes have at least three main steps:
syngas production, Fischer Tropsch Synthesis (FTS) and product finalizing. Syngas production might
be different from feed and technology point of view and these differences affect all downstream units
partially. In this step, source of carbon converted to syngas which is a mixture of hydrogen and carbon
monoxide. Origin of the letter X in the XTL phrase depends on this carbon source since B stands for
Biomass, C for Coal (bituminous or non bituminous), G for (natural) Gas and W for Waste
(petrochemical wastes, worn automobile tires and ...) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also it is comprehended by review of academic literatures such as articles and dissertations that GTL
is more attractive than any other XTL technologies. Although pipeline is a routine method for
transmission of natural gas in countries with huge amount of this wealth [10] but GTL also have its
own value in monetizing natural gas source to easily vendible liquid hydrocarbons. So many of
researches devoted to different fields of GTL process merely, beside those investigations on the
common part of all XTL technologies such as FTS and syngas production. Amongst these fields,
catalyst is the most attractive issue in different fields such as promoters and formulation [11, 12],
support [13], preparation ..., and both cobalt and iron catalysts are matter of investigation as well as
other new catalysts.
Beside catalyst, reactor design is of high importance. There are different types of reactors for
performing FTS such as multi tubular fixed bed reactors (also named trickle bed reactor, developed by
Shell), Slurry Bubble Column Reactors (or SBCR, developed by Sasol), Fluidized bed and circulating
fluidized bed reactors (namely Synthol, invented by Kellogg and developed by Sasol) [9, 14, 15].
Although each reactor has it s own advantages, but ease of

Proposal: this venture would consist of Chipotle s market entry to Spain, bringing healthy, tasty and
authentic Mexican fast food to Spanish consumers.
Introduction
This paper will explain how consumer behavior would affect Chipotle s marketing strategies if the
company wants to enter to Spanish market. It will analyze possible consumer behavior issues and
Spanish market background, suggesting along the potential marketing implications. Nevertheless,
predictions and suggestions made in this paper may need further market researches to be verified.

If the portion size is too small, consumers may consider Chipotle as inadequate place to go when they
are hungry. In addition, if the customers go Chipotle with the expectation of filling up their stomach,
but the perceived performance is lower than the expected performance, consumers would be
dissatisfied with the service. Nevertheless, Chipotle has to consider that portion size is usually larger
in the US than in the Europe. Researchers compared restaurants in Philadelphia and in Paris, and
found that American restaurants served on average 25% more food than their French counterparts
(Shuster, Vigna, Sinha Tontonoz, 2012). The difference is even bigger for beverages served in fast
food restaurants. Currently, McDonald s small sized drink served in the US contains 16 ounces of
liquids, which is 18% more than the medium sized drink (40cl, approx. 13.52 ounces) served in Spain.
Taking into account the data above, Chipotle may reduce its current portion size served in the US by
approximately 25% when it enters to Spain. By doing so, Chipotle may save significant amount of
material costs while still live up Spanish consumers expectation about the portion

Limitations Of Naturalistic Observation
Naturalistic observation involves making observations of everyday events and recording those
observations in an objective manner (Stangor, 2016, p.39). Participants of a naturalistic observation
are observed in natural surroundings. The goal of naturalistic observation is to create a snapshot of the
current state of affairs. One advantage to naturalistic observation is that it provides a way to collect
data about the topic of interest (Stangor, 2016, p.40). Naturalistic observation is said to have
ecological validity. Ecological validity refers to the extent to which the research is conducted in
situations that are similar to everyday life experiences of the participants (Stangor, 2016, p.40). This
research design also allows the researcher to observe group behaviors in a specific setting. Despite its
advantages naturalistic observation also has some limitations. This design does not assess
relationships among variables (Stangor, 2016, p.39). Meaning that a cause and effect relationship
cannot be created. The results of this observation are generally limited to the group being studied.
More importantly, naturalistic observation cannot be used to test research hypotheses about which
types of group behavior are related to or caused by which other variables (Stangor, 2016, p.41).

The Gladiator VS. History Essay
I m sure that many people have seen the movie the, Gladiator and thought that most if not all of it was
true. Sadly this movie paints a picture that falls short of fact and leans more towards fiction. Winning
5 academy awards it is a hit with the audience but with historians a bust. This is mainly due to the
inconsistencies revolving around character portrayals, events, and even characters that don t exist. I m
sure that this is because the truth wouldn t fair as well as the movie did. Moreover the, Gladiator
which is a winner of many academy awards does not win much in the depiction of characters and
events. Gladiator begins in 180 A.D in the winter time on a battlefield in Germania. The first error is
around the character Caesar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another mistake within this movie was showing Marcus Aurelis as only having 2 children, Lucilla and
Commodus, but Marcus Aurelius actually had 13 children (Gill N.S.). Leaving off with the opening of
this movie the biggest historical mistake overall revolves around the leading character and hero of this
movie, Maximus. This is because he is entirely made up, he did not exist. So every event or action that
involves him is false. Lucilla and he never had relations when they were younger, he didn t kill
anyone, and he was not supposed to be the protector of Rome like they showed Marcus Aurelis
wanting. Although Maximus may be a compilation of people who were real. For instance the man who
did command the battle in the opening scene which most likely occured in 179 was Taruttiens
Paternus. Also how he longed to be home and his family are from Claudius Pompeianus who was a
military officer whose career resembled Maximus s (Ward). A short while after the opening scene we
are transported to North African Zucchabar where yet more inaccuracies occur. The first being the
misconception from the movie that Gladiator games had been banned by Maximus Aurelis. This is
stated by the character Proximo who purchased Maximus to be one of his gladiators. He described
how he was forced to make a living due to the games being banned. Also the Coliseum is supposed to
have been reopened by Commodus to host games to honor his father. Commodus does this

Reflection Of Ecclesiastes
Ecclesiastes offers an interesting ontology in which human existence is vain and uncontrollable, and in
which the incomprehensible, unchangeable ways of God govern one s life. The story is recounted by a
Preacher, a wise man, who, having seen all work done beneath the sun, reports: that all is vanity , that
one s toils are meaningless, that nothing is new, and that one ought to live one s life enjoyably, for all
men die regardless of their labors. Above all, the Preacher s writing is personal; we can t help but feel
proximate to him, however negative his ontology may seem, because his writing is in the first person
and appeals to us (and humanity in general) directly. Below, I will evaluate Ecclesiastes, focusing
mostly on verses I:8 9 as they are particularly rich and amusing. Let s start by analyzing I:8 9: the first
clause of verse 8 (All words fail through weariness) may mean that the weariness of things cannot be
adequately expressed by words and that words fail because they cannot accurately describe the
weariness of things ( things being those natural phenomena described in verses I: 4 7 and labor in
general). Further, since man becomes speechless due to his inability to describe the weariness of
things with words, we must accept that his inability to describe these things is not caused by the
things, but by the words and therefore by him because it is man who creates the words which describe
the things. Therefore, if we are to accept this interpretation, we

The Swatch Company Lead By Nicolas G
This case begins with highlighting the success that had now gripped the Swatch Company lead by
Nicolas G. Hayek. Due to strong numbers from 2010 the company set the goal to make 10 billion.
This was only made possible by their multiple different brands across multiple different segments,
innovative technology, and coming out of a brief period of difficulty with their most profitable
flagship watch, Omega. The company now sets its sight on a new goal, surpassing the long established
brand, Rolex. In order to try and tackle this giant, the company and CEO debate how to best attract
potential customers through advertising, overall message, and through possible overseas ventures in
the United States.
As I said before Swatch wasn t always this successful. In fact, according to the case, in the 1960 s
their market share fell about 41% due to competition from the then popular inexpensive watches.
Throughout this time period it is interesting to see how their strategies evolved in regards to their
competition, product placement, and brand management. First, they opted try to combat the
inexpensive watches by making an inexpensive quartz watch which they later discarded. Another
watchmaking group took their idea which forced the company to move to the more high end market
and as a result they saw their sales drop. I don t have all the details regarding their decision of course,
but it appears that they seemed almost indecisive on how to handle the low cost alternative. It would

South Australia And The Environmental Aspect Of The...
To most, Australia is thought to be mostly an area of sand and dirt roads with kangaroos
hoping allover, but in reality it has multiple climates due to the large area. The northern part has
a tropical climate, varied between tropical rainforests, grasslands, and part desert. In the south, a
temperate climate and discreetly fruitful soil can be found. With a nation active, large and
variable as Australia, it may be a learning point for the United States of America. With the
legislation and active energy conservation department that is well funded, we may be able to
adapt these ideas and incorporate them into our society and government. However, not
everything in Aussie is so green.

Due to its location, the seasons in South
Australia are opposite of those here; for example, their summer is from December to February.
Therefore, S.A s winter is during the months of June August, however rather than snow, an
annual average of 40 inches of rain occurs. Although temperate, most of South Australia
resembles the red rock areas of Colorado and New Mexico where the red land meets the bright
blue skies.
An exception to this desert like landscape is the Southernmost point of South Australia,
known as Kangaroo Island has a rather diverse landscape which includes a beautiful marine life,
caves and caverns, robust fields and majestic deserts. A majority of the Island, and rightfully so,
are homes to several resorts. Between the warm temperatures and clear waters, the island has
become a hot spot for Northern Hemisphere visitors during the months of December to
February. The animals that inhabit this area are just as diverse as the landscape itself including,
but not limited to, pelicans, penguins, dolphins, wallabies, brush tailed possums, ducks, swans
and waders on 267 species of birds found in various habitats on the island, sea lions, New
Zealand fur seals and, of course, kangaroos.
However, not everything is so crystal clear for South Australia, or the country as a
whole. South Australia is becoming warmer as surface temperature has risen 0.96°C, while
the global average is 0.7°C.

Competitive Sports Persuasive Essay
While many people believe that competitive sports should be banned from schools and from kids in
general, my belief is that they have a largely outweighing positive impact. There are a few reasons that
I believe so, the first of which is that they help unfit and obese children to begin living a healthy
lifestyle, and also motivates them to do so. Another reason I think competitive sports should be
allowed among kids is that they make you more confident and highers your self esteem. Thirdly, I
believe so because with all of the work that the kids are doing at school, they need some way of
having fun with their friends, and in my opinion, one of the best ways to do that is by playing a
competitive sport. Competitive sports should be available to children to play.
Today, over 17% of American children are obese, and when competitive sports come into play,
children start getting motivated to lose weight and eat healthier, especially when their friends are
participating in the sport with them. However, a lot of the time, children that aren t highly skilled get
criticised by their teammates and coaches, but most of the time, that only make them want to prove
themselves further, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Argumentative Essay On Baroque Music
Baroque Music The word Baroque was derived from the word barroco, which is used to mean the
period in which western region widely used music especially in the nineteenth century to express how
the European artist practiced the art. When the historical happenings of the music in well explored, the
critics who applied the musical knowledge made it look strange and majorly sounded exaggerated.
Furthermore, ornamentals were initially used during the era of Bash and Handel. After the brand of
music had shed the connotations that were derogatory, baroques became one of the mot simplest and

Accordingly, the composers can start imagining about the inspiration the work of music has done as
well as the starting point of the artwork. Throughout the Baroque era, the composers of the music

the institution in which the work was done dictated entirely which type of music that would be written
by the composers. When the Baroque music has been fully used will dictate the way the history of the
music can be perceived by the people and how gently they would be used to influence the belief of the
majority of the people and how important they are to the society.

Unemployment And Its Effects On The Economy
Unemployment occurs when a person who is actively seeking employment but unable to find work. It
is often used as measure of the health of the economy and has been one of Australia s most serious
long term economic challenges in recent decades. Economic growth is an ongoing process of increase
in the production capacity of goods and services over a period of time. This determines economic
wealth and individual living standards. These two economic issues have been a continuous matter
within Australia, however the government has been actively addressing it with several policies which
are varying in effectiveness.
Unemployment has been one of the most persistent of all economic issues, leading to rising debates
from economists over the causes of it and policies which should be used to address the matter.
Australia s unemployment rate has continued to be volatile with fluctuations every few years due to
several mishaps however, has remained relatively stable for a decade. According to the unemployment
rate reported by the Australian Bureau of Statistic, from 1978 to 2015 Australia is averaged to be 6.9
percent, with record high 10.9 percent in 1992 and an all time low of 4 percent in 2008. During the
early 1990s, Australia underwent the effects of the global recession causing a significant upsurge in

Advertisement Analysis Of Advertisement
Healthy living is a common goal for many individuals in today s society. Many individuals state that
the motive behind healthy living is to maintain their outward physical appearance; however, not as
much do individuals state that the reason for their healthy living is to maintain their inward physical
appearance, such as the health of major bodily organs. Eating healthy is vital to keeping bodily organs
functioning properly, and the advertisement, created by Fortis, portrays this. The advertisement tries to
encourage the audience to live a healthy lifestyle by making the decision to eat healthy from the use of
the emotional appeal in the text, and the connection between broccoli and kidneys in the picture.
These two techniques combine to make it easier to convince the viewer to eat healthy.
Before trying to understand the purpose of this advertisement, it s best to observe the creator of the
advertisement. As denoted by the emblem towards the bottom of the advertisement, it was created by a
healthcare company in India, named Fortis. Fortis is known internationally as one of the top medical
institutions in the world. By Fortis being a healthcare company, they often preach about making
healthy lifestyle choices. From their track record on encouraging the public to stay healthy, it is
expected that the motivation behind this advertisement is to do the same. The other emblem on the
bottom of advertisement shows that it was released on or around World Kidney Day. World Kidney

The Theme Of Conflict In Interlopers,The Use Of Division...
Say someone comes up to you, and insults you, right in your face. What would you do? Many would
probably say they would fight, yell, or shun said person. But, what does that help? As Martin Luther
King Junior once said, Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. In this day and age, many
believe war and division is the only way to achieve peace; Although it seems that way, unity is a
solution many can see, but cannot truly achieve, as it is a rare occurrence. In the short story Interlopers
, Saki uses conflict, and in the poem Mending Wall , Frost uses character to show that there is always
a chance to resolve problems with unity, but that is simply a rare conclusion for almost everyone. In
Interlopers , Saki s use of conflict shows division and war. First, while Ulrich and Georg are hunting
each other in the woods, their hate for each other is stressed; If there was a man in the world whom
[Ulrich] detested and wished ill to, it was Georg Znaeym, the inheritor of the quarrel... Ulrich and
Georg s hatred is sparked by this plot of land that has been passed down for generations, that both
families want to own for themselves; The forest lands of Gradwitz were of wide extent and well
stocked with game... A famous lawsuit, in the days of his grandfather, This is the conflict of man vs.
man to show war, and their division by being against each other. But, as soon as Ulrich and Georg find

The Conflict Between Israel And Palestinian Refugees
Going after their independence, Israel was looking for the support of big and powerful countries, and
the cooperation of the surrounding states. Unfortunately, the Israeli independence movement did not
turn out to be so easy. As the surrounding Arab nations began to get angry with the preferential
treatment of the British, tensions rose between Israel and the Palestinians. Consequently, because of
the superior army and the support behind Israel, the wars resulted in an abundance of Palestinian
refugees that still struggle to establish their own state today. Through many efforts and support
systems, international aid has been offered to the Palestinian refugees, but as proven by the millions of
refugees that still live in the UNRWA camps today, none of these tactics have worked. Although
international organizations were ineffective in solving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian
refugees, the establishment of an Arab state early on would have prevented a future humanitarian
crisis; demonstrating the preferential treatment within foreign intervention.
Leading up to the wars between Israel and the Arabs, Israel was getting favorable treatment from the
British, as Palestinians were left to fight against the odds. If this one sided contract and way of
thinking had not existed, both the Arabs and the Jews would have been satisfied. In the late 19th
century, there was a rise of Zionism among the Jewish people, in effort to return the Jews to their
homeland and resume

Division: Janie Crawford in Their Eyes Were Watching God
Their Eyes Were Watching God was written in 1937 by Zora Neale Hurston. This story follows a
young girl by the name of Janie Crawford. Janie Crawford lived with her grandmother in Eatonville,
Florida. Janie was 16 Years old when her grandmother caught her kissing a boy out in the yard. After
seeing this her grandmother told her she was old enough to get married, and tells her she has found her

from one another, along with Janie s role in each marriage. Janie always had her own individual

Michelle Obama Leadership Model
Leadership is a skill that one is not born with, but is acquired through life experiences and
interactions. Michelle Obama perseverance to attain a higher education, a concept foreign in her
family, shows the dedication and determination a leader must have. As a leader, it is imperative that
once you establish a mission or purpose, that you, as well as your team members, worked to
accomplish that goal. Because of her perseverance, Michelle can be best identified as a pace setter,
innovative and charismatic leader because through the various projects she undertook as her role of
First Lady, she influences people through personality, inspires passion and the need to be active in one
s own community. For example, this can be seen in her role as Executive Director for the Chicago
office of Public Allies where she mobilized youths and community to get active and set fundraising
records for the organization that still stood 12 years after she left. Michelle influences people through
her own success. Having attended Harvard Law, becoming a top attorney and later the first African
American First Lady, she has influenced youths across the nation to believe that anything is possible,
so long as they have faith. In accordance to the Leadership Theories, Michelle Obama can be
categorized under the Authentic Leadership Approach; for these leaders, their leadership is genuine,
develops over time, transparent and driven by moral values (Komives, Lucas , McMahon). Projects

The assassination of President Abraham Lincoln was a tragic event that took place in April of 1865.
President Lincoln was shot on April 14, 1865 and died the next morning (Holzer). His assassin was
John Wilkes Booth (Boritt), he and his co conspirators had many things planned for that night.
Consequently, in the days that followed John Wilkes Booth and his associates were caught ( The
Assassination of the President ). Too many, this was a tragedy and even President Lincoln s enemies
praised him after death. John Wilkes Booth was a famous actor in his time, but today he is more well

Life in Kenya Essay
Life in Kenya
1. Introduction
In the past when I would think of Kenya I would think of wild animals, African tribes, and AIDS.
When I met Wanjiku an international student from Kenya she told me many things about the culture of
her country. I know from talking and working with her that they value friendship and believe in hard
work.
The people of Kenya have gone though many changes since gaining their independence in 1963. They
now have the freedom of speech and religion. Kenya has also increased its educational system by
building more schools.
Tourism in Kenya has expanded since 1963. People travel to Kenya because it is such a beautiful
country and has the most spectacular wild life. I attended African ... Show more content on

Kenya s Location and Climate
Kenya is situated right along the equator, on the eastern coast of Africa. Its coastal region is southeast,
and to the east lays Somalia. Ethiopia is to the north, the Sudan to the northwest, and Uganda directly
to the west. The southwestern border of the country is marked by Lake Victoria, and southward lays
Tanzania.
Kenya s coastal area is hot and humid tropical region. Beautiful sandy beaches, lagoons and swamps,
and patches of rain forest line the coast. Inland, a vast plains area stretches over about three fourths of
Kenya. Its extremely dry climate and generally poor soil support only scattered plant life. The
highlands in the southwest receive enough rainfall and offer enough fertile soil to support extensive
farming ( Kenya ).
3. Wanjiku
Wanjiku is an International student from Kenya. She is different from many of the students that I have
met on campus she is older that most she is 33 years old and married with a child. She is from
Kerugoya, which is in Kenya. I have learned many things from Wanjiku. She is so willing to share
information about her home country. Wanjiku is married to Pharis who is 50 years old and is also from
Kerugoya.

Bible Group Assessment At W Ave G Temple
Bible Group Assessment For this assignment the group that I observed was the Churches Touching
Lives of Christ Bible study located at W Ave G Temple, TX 76504.The bible study group was small, it
consisted of six adult group members in total. Each individual person had their own uniqueness about
themselves and their contribution to the group. The leader of the group was a slender Asian male in his
late forty s who was well spoken and maintained order in the group while still delivering a short
sermon to the group. Whenever a person would speak out of turn he would let them speak and when
they were done he would publicly correct them and tell the other adult group members that they
should wait their turn to speak and if they have a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As soon as I heard the way that the Asian male spoke to the group I could tell that there was a
previous bond with the client. The reason that I can to the conclusion that there has to be a previous
connection is because the Asian male did not ask for them to do anything he told them. Even though
the members were all adults they did not rebel or even give any rebuttal. They did just as he asked, so
that shows me that they have respect for him. I do not think that he would have spoken as demanding
as he did if he did not know them, if I was trying to develop members for any organization I would be
passive and eager to please so the member would feel welcome and want to return to my groups. After
everyone was seated the Asian male asked if anyone had a special scripture that they wanted to focus
on. No one replied. The leader seemed to be a little disturbed. He became a little angry, he told them
that he was disappointed because he assigned them homework, which was to find a scripture and bring
it to the group. Luckily he came prepared and had his own bible verses he wanted to talk about since
he didn t have anybody volunteers. At this particular meeting the leader spoke about homosexual
relations, he asked me did I want to participate but I told him I was only present for documentation
purposes. Although I am a Christian my social work values are also very clear everyone is the same,
there is no discrimination. While talking

operations of Congress Essay
Throughout history, there have been many factors that seem to have influenced the operations of
Congress. Some of these factors have been the committee system, seniority, and political parties.
These are only a few of the factors that actually have an influence on Congress s decisions of certain
operations.
The first factor that seems to have influenced the operations of Congress is the committee system.
Congress has four different types of committees. The four committees are the joint committees,
conference committees, standing committees, and select committees. The standing committee has an
influence on Congress because of the fact that they have jurisdiction over all the bills of a given type.
Select ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Committee chairpersons are the ones with the real power. There is an unwritten rule that the
majority party member with the longest continuous service on a committee becomes chairperson when
a vacancy occurs. The committee chairperson is the only one in the committee that actually has a real
say in what is going on, and that opportunity is given to the one that has served his time the longest.
However, that is no longer allowed. A historical event that has influenced Congress s operations is the
Legislation Reorganization act of 1970.This act ensures that there will be no more seniority because.
Now a secret ballot elects them, however, the member with the most seniority usually wins anyway.
The third factor that seems to have an influence on the operations of Congress is the public opinion.
Logically, if the public thinks that a certain congressman doesn t know how to do his job, then he won
t get elected. That s why the public opinion has a major influence the operations of Congress because
the public has say if that Congressman or Congressmen will get elected again.
In conclusion, there are many factors that influence Congress s decisions of certain operations
throughout history. Some of those factors include the committee system, seniority, and the public
opinion. Most of the factors have to do with making sure that there are no corrupt congressmen, or

Willa Cather s My Antonia And O
Both Willa Cather s My Ántonia and O. E. Rölvaag s Giants in the Earth portray the difficulties of
everyday life in unexplored territory, with similar themes and context. Although the overarching
themes of both novels are similar, the manner in which characters behave with each other, the
dependency families have on each other, and the ability of individuals to mitigate conflict is different.
Both My Ántonia and Giants in the Earth portray an array of sources causing conflict in relationships.
However, they differ in the motivations of characters and intent of individual action. Both novels give

Instead of attempting to resolve the conflict, viewing the Shimerdas as foreign and distant provides a
perspective that justifies violence. This is demonstrated as [Jake] landed Ambrosch a blow on the head
(83). Jake is able to justify the violence to himself, because the wrongdoing of Ambrosch is amplified
by nativism.
Giants in the Earth conveys a greater sense of difference a racialized depiction between us and them
with a frenzied panic from Per Hansa s family accompanying the appearance of Indians. Fear of
Indian s was common among settlers, who told stories of great massacres and atrocities committed by
tribes. When Indians approach, Per Hansa and neighboring settlers are indignant, stating that there isn
t any doubt the land they inhabit is theirs fearing the Indians may steal it or attack his family (Rölvaag
73). Perception of Indians uncivilized and barbaric contribute to their fear, as they watched with
anxious attention the Indian band as it crept up the slope of the hill towards the crest (68). Per Hansa
creates greater distinction as he drew such ghastly pictures to Sam of the cruelty with which the
Indians would probably treat the cows , bowing to racialized assumptions that Indians are savage (69).
When he remarks that I guess we ll have to be satisfied with a scalp or two , he recognizes that
scalping is the most dreadful thing in the world (71). His recognition of the atrocity only worsens his

The Journey Of A Hero In Mystic Hero s Journey
According to Webster s dictionary, a definition of a hero is a mythological or legendary figure often of
divine descent ( Hero ). The thing with heroes is that they are not all mythological or legendary
figures; in fact, heroes can be almost anyone that holds our admiration towards them for whatever
reason. Any person can be deemed a hero from the random person seen walking across the street to
one of your relatives, so eloquently it is their journey that they go through that makes them become
the hero. In Joseph Campbell s book, Hero with a Thousand Faces, to be a hero you have to follow
along with the steps that Joseph Campbell created called Mystic Hero s Journey. From the start of the
first stage where the Call to Adventure begins it all to the end where the final step the Freedom to Live
ends the journey. It is taking notice how a person, such the case for my father, life choices and actions
convert them from being seen as an ordinary person to a genuine hero. For Adolfo Huitron, my father,
it is from the young age of 19 that he received his Call to Adventure. Straker describes in his article
that the call to adventure is where the hero starts off in a mundane situation of normality from which
some information is received that acts as a clarion call (Straker). He is inferencing that the hero starts
off with a normal dull background and it is when something out of the norm occurs or something life
changing happens that the hero in question gets his call to adventure, to begin his journey. At the age
of 19, Adolfo s call to adventure was when he received the news that he was going to be a father. This
news made him want to acquire a better future and life for his life. Living in Mexico during his time
was tough there wasn t much work in the area where he lived and education was poor as well. With
the future of his daughter in mind, he decided that he wanted to move his pregnant wife and himself to
the United States. He knew that in the United States, there were more job opportunities that would
help him provide better things for his family that would be increasing soon enough. He also knew that
the U.S valued the education of children more than in his own town. During the interview that he

Development of Systems that Promote Evidence Based Treatments for Trauma Associated with Child

In 2012, a report by the Attorney General s National Task Force on Children Exposed to Violence
indicated that over 46 million children residing in the United States were most likely to have their
lives affected by violence, crime, abuse, or psychological trauma in that year (Klain, White, 2013).

mental trauma should establish and provide trauma informed care and trauma focused services to the
affected children. The targeted groups include child welfare system stakeholders, professionals, and

The function of this model is to improve the process of identifying, engaging, and delivering services
to children experiencing trauma by various child welfare systems. The Institute of Healthcare
Improvement (IHI) created this model with the aim of bringing together subject matter professionals
with application experts to help concerned organizations choose, test, and execute changes in direct
service delivery (Grayson, Childress, Baker, Hatchett, 2012). However, most agencies have not been
able to embrace this change hence making it difficult to translate evidence into mental health policy.
Failure to Report Cases of Child Maltreatment
Studies have shown that many people fail to report cases of traumatic childhood events to the
concerned authorities. Such activities include child abuse, violence, and other forms of maltreatment.
Research also shows that the reaction of children to trauma differ depending on the resiliency of the
affected child and his or her age. For instance, preschool and young children may not be in a position
to develop the ability to identify areas where they can find security and thus establish great fear in
response to trauma. Sometimes, the concern can extend beyond the circumstances of the traumatic
event. Also, the caregivers in foster homes may not be in a position to notice any signs of traumatic
stress in the child. Such symptoms that go

Another solution would be to give some of the costly oxygen in order to keep the Sherpas safe
(Mandelbaum 3). While the tourists bring luxury items to add to the Sherpas loads, they are being
deprived of basic human necessities. The final solution would be to increase the insurance payout to
$US20,000, rather than the $US15,000 that they do provide (Morrow 2). This would allow Sherpas to
feel more comfortable instead of worried that should something happen, they will have to pay out of
pocket knowing that their respective companies will not cover the costs. The problems that the Sherpa
face is to deal with horrible and unsafe conditions, endure little to no health insurance payouts, and
dealing with little consideration for the passing of their loved ones during the treacherous journey.
Their solutions are to spend roughly 30% of the government s revenue on compensation, increase the
insurance payout by $US5,000 to $US20,000, and sharing the basic human necessities to ensure the
journey is both safe and pleasant for all the parties

allow doctors to euthanaize and bring about a painless death. Instead, the boy died of dehydration and

the proposal would come into play. These cases involve people that require special care and judgment
due to their condition. For the proposal to function properly, there could be no outside pressure from
family and friends; the decision would solely be made by the patient. A psychiatric illness cannot be
present, all medical care would have to be given first, and lastly, the patient would go to a court made

the audience with an informative set of case study that implies the author s extreme opposition to
euthanasia. One surprising fact is that most dying patients today would not choose to be euthanized if
they had that right. About one of ten patients who were terminally ill said they seriously considered
using euthanasia or physician assisted suicide. Fewer than 6 percent said they had seriously discussed

Philip Larkin s Faith Healing Essay
How typical in terms of subject, theme, structure and versification is Faith Healing by Larkin? Philip
Larkin s Faith Healing In 1964, Philip Larkin published his third book of poetry, entitled The Whitsun
Weddings . One of the many critically acclaimed poems was Faith Healing . In this essay, I intend to
explore how typical this poem is in terms of subject, theme, structure and versification. In Faith
Healing, women flock to an American Faith Healer for a blessing. The persona of the poem is written
from an outsider s point of view, looking in at this sight. Faith Healing is divided into three stanzas,
each of ten lines. Iambic pentameter is used to give 5 major stresses to each of the 10 lines. The three
stanzas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By now, all s wrong . It is interesting to note that with all 3 of these poems, Larkin adopts a personal
persona. He is omniscient; in Mr Bleaney, it is as though he is a man looking for accommodation; in
Here, it is as though he is the one on a journey and in Faith Healing, he is present, observing this
spectacle. Therefore, I feel that Mr Bleaney and Here are closely linked to Faith Healing in terms of
structure and versification. Faith Healing is an ambiguous poem that seems critical of religion. At the
start of the poem, many flock to the Faith Healer but by the third stanza, the 20 seconds with the
American seem to have ruined their lives. They have had their true feelings and emotions unlocked
and have realised that they have never really been loved. An immense slackening ache. Spreads slowly
through them . The Faith Healer thaws these emotions and we see the women suffer a sense of real
loneliness and depression as this reality dawns. This strongly correlates with the theme in Mr Bleaney,
a poem exploring loneliness and the fear in which it evokes. In the poem, we are told of Mr Bleaney s
old room that is cheap and not cared for. The persona explores Bleaney s life. Ironically, he finds he
can identify with him in some respects. So it happens

Amazon s Major Competitors Are Divided
C. Shawn and Peilan Amazon s major competitors are divided in two parts. The first part is physical
stores such as Walmart or Target. The second area of competition is through the online market eg;
EBay and BestBuy. As opposed to Amazon, customers in a physical store could have more
comprehensive experience, especially for specific products like clothes and electronic devices. Some
customers need to be able to see and try the product themselves before feeling comfortable enough to
purchase it. Secondly, although Amazon has two day free shipping for its Amazon Prime, people are
required pay a yearly membership fee. People can also choose one day shipping and are charged
higher shipping fees. Physical stores still have more advantages than Amazon in this aspect.
Customers can directly buy what they want in the store and avoid obnoxious shipping fees. Next, we
want to touch on product quality and after sales service. If customers want to return or exchange
products in the physical store, they can talk directly with staff. For Amazon, customers have to email
or call to communicate with the seller. They also need time to send back the product which just
prolongs the process. Although Amazon has a free return policy, it can still be a complicated process
for customers. On another side, physical stores also have weaknesses compared to the online market

Trunk Movement Analysis
In relation to trunk movement and this week s forum, I chose to write about the sit up. The sit up is
commonly implemented to tone and strengthen the abdominal muscles as an endurance training
exercise. Within the exercise, you are strengthening the rectus abdominus along with engaging the
internal and external obliques. Your rectus abdominis attaches to ribs 5 through 7 and starts at your
pubic bone while stretching, in a straight line, upwards to your ribs. It is activated every time your ribs
are brought towards your thighs. It is also accountable for guiding the tilt of your pelvis and the
curvature of your lower spine. Your obliques, on the other hand, consist of the lateral abdominal
muscles and promote flexion, rotation and bending of the spine Nevertheless, because of the sit ups

sartorius, and tensor fasciae latae, and obliques. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your iliopsoas is attached to your femur, crosses your hips, and attaches to the lower ribs. This muscle
promotes flexing of the hip and spine rotation. Your sartorius runs diagonally across the front of your

fascia latae is a thin muscle that runs from the pelvis to the tibia and assists with hip flexion as well as
leg abduction. While both the primary and secondary muscles play a large role in the overall
movement, it could not be performed properly without the stabilizing muscles. This muscle involves
the tibialis anterior, which runs from the top of your shin bone down to your first metatarsal, (big toe)

Many of these schools have strict rules, and many of those rules are there for a reason. But what
reason gives them the right to victimize these young girls? Here is a quote from the Jenks Middle

Schools claim that student dress codes are never meant target a group of students. The notion that girls
clothing affects the way boys learn is not, and never will be, our message, they denied that they acted
because leggings distract boys, as has been alleged by some parents (nydailynews web). But on the
other hand, here is a quote that sums up the point that I am trying to express, It s not like these girls
are dressing up like street corner gals, right? I mean, it s sweatshirts and comfy pants, says Juliet

Pros And Disadvantages Of Subjective Video Quality Assessment
Subjective Video Quality Assessment for QoE
Student Number: 17091447g
Student Name: ZHENG Yuan
Introduction
The video quality evaluation was put forward to the birth of video technology, it is performed to
evaluate the quality of a set of video sequences under study. Video quality can be evaluated by
objective video quality and subjective video quality, the objective video quality can be evaluated by
some parameters of objective video quality classified from the original signal and the received signal,
but we cannot judge the video is good or not, just from some objective parameters. Therefore, it is
necessary to evaluate the subjective video quality at some standardized testing methods. That is what
the essay concern, so I will introduce how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

SSCQE
The SSCQE is also a family of single stimulus like ACR and ACR HR. The methods selected a longer
test video sequence which should last at least five minutes, and the audiences continue to score the
observation video sequence. In the end, the staff can get a series of scoring statistics, the score not
only consider the value of the score, but also consider the scoring time.
This test method have a better performance in video quality with time varying compression system, in
other word, it gives an entire assessment for a longer video sequence.

Long Bones Essay
Skeletisation of a dead body has made identification of the remains trickier. As humans, we become
accustomed to recognise others from outer body appearances, not their insides. However, it is well
established that morphological and metric changes occur on certain bones through a human s lifetime
(e.g. Pelvis: Phenice, 1969, Skull: Meindl and Lovejoy, 1985, Long bones: France, 1998) making
identification possible. To complicate matters, morphological and metric changes can differ within and
between human population groups due to intrinsic and extrinsic factors (DiGangi and Moore, 2012).
An example of this is nutritional deficiency, which effects males more than females and causes
reduced sexual dimorphism (Ross, Baker and Falsetti, 2003). Recently, there has been a global trend
to establish population specific standards for identification due to such variation. Compared to
America, much of Europe and other areas have not had as much opportunity to conduct research on
modern populations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Epiphyseal (growth plates) fusion (Krogman and İşcan, 1986), dental eruption and wear (Ubelaker,
1989; Buikstra and Ubelaker, 1994), cranial suture (elastic tissue that connects the bones of the skull)
closure (Meindl and Lovejoy, 1985), features of the pelvis such as the pubic symphysis (Todd, 1921a,
1921b; Brooks and Suchey, 1990) and auricular surface (Lovejoy et al. 1985b) are some examples of
commonly used methods for age determination. Other features of the pelvis such as the morphology of
the subpubic region (Phenice, 1969) are a commonly used method for sex determination. Morphology
and metrics of the skull, including the mandible, have been beneficial in determination of sex
(Buikstra and Ubelaker, 1994). Additionally, metric measurements of appendicular bones have also
shown to be useful at determining sex (France, 1998). This study is limiting the discussion to the skull

  • 2. A Traditional Catholic Mass Change Based Upon The Place... Many people have preconceived notions of how a religious service is conducted and looks like, even if they are not a practitioner or have never attended a service. With Catholicism, people expect that the services are only held in churches that are set aside from other institutions. People imagine the attendees in semi formal and conservative dress. The times of a service are even held to an imaginary guideline. If a religion breaks from the pattern, people are inclined to believe that the service is of a lesser quality or may not truly be affiliated with the Catholic Church. The Church has had to adapt to the situations it has been placed in because of the ever changing world it resides in. The purpose of this paper is to examine how the ideas and images of a traditional Catholic Mass change based upon the place Mass occurs, I am looking specifically at the service at the Interfaith Center located on the University of California Irvine (UCI) campus. The University Catholic Community (UCC) at UC Irvine is a campus organization that provides church services to the Catholic community. The Interfaith building is used to hold services for the students who cannot go elsewhere. There are various youth ministries within the community that cater to various ethnic groups, though anyone is allowed to join: Vietnamese, Filipino, Korean, and one that is for anyone. By being focused on catering to the college student demographic, the UCC has had to adapt to the needs of the students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, I also wanted them to add an equation sentence to their strategy because that is what they will be doing in 1st grade rather than just drawing pictures. When I was grading their work, I can say 81% of the class met the objective for the day, which means only 5 students got the problem wrong and 22 students showed a strategy with the correct answer. Out of the 22 students who used a math strategy and got the right answer, only 3 didn t show an equation sentence. Grading students work made me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel this is the best strategy that I learned, however, when the master teacher does it, it works a lot better than when I do it. Once students start to get comfortable with me, I feel that the classroom management strategies that I use, just like the master teacher, will work a lot better. To try and get my students under control, especially when they re talking, I have been using chants to get them focused on the task at hand. This is something that the master teacher does often, so I want to continue the routine. However, when she does the chants, I feel like the class responds better, but I am hoping that students will feel comfortable with me soon. • 4. Ezra-Nehemiah The inspiration for Bede s reform program comes from a pattern that can be found in the book of Ezra Nehemiah which can be conveniently divided into three sections. Each of these sections deals with a similar situation and issues: a return from exile which includes projects of restoration and reform. Today modern English translations of the Bible print the text of Ezra Nehemiah as two distinct books. By having Ezra and Nehemiah as separate books was not always the way in which these texts were written; they were traditionally combined into one book in the Hebrew and Greek Bibles. However, by considering them as one document, it will help to make it much easier to understand the book in its three parts. The first portion of Ezra Nehemiah ... According to him, the bishops were neglecting their duties such as preaching, teaching, visitations, and confirmation. There was also a general decline in the moral behaviour of bishops. Bede mentions this in his letter when he writes that they are given to laughter, jokes, idle tales, feasting and drunkenness and other attractions of a loose way of life. Bishops would typically only preach if they received money for it, which led to a spiritual impoverishment for the laity. The laypeople lacked adequate instruction in the faith not only because of the waywardness of bishops but also because there were not enough priests to give a good example to the laity to imitate. Another abuse that Bede objects to is the unjust taxation of the lay faithful and any other forms of clerical avarice. Many remote farms, hamlets, and small villages were neglected by their bishop; they were still, however, expected to pay their ecclesial taxes. Bede also mentions that there simply are not enough dioceses in Northumbria, which would help to resolve the laity s lack of spiritual education. • 7. Limitations Of Naturalistic Observation Naturalistic observation involves making observations of everyday events and recording those observations in an objective manner (Stangor, 2016, p.39). Participants of a naturalistic observation are observed in natural surroundings. The goal of naturalistic observation is to create a snapshot of the current state of affairs. One advantage to naturalistic observation is that it provides a way to collect data about the topic of interest (Stangor, 2016, p.40). Naturalistic observation is said to have ecological validity. Ecological validity refers to the extent to which the research is conducted in situations that are similar to everyday life experiences of the participants (Stangor, 2016, p.40). This research design also allows the researcher to observe group behaviors in a specific setting. Despite its advantages naturalistic observation also has some limitations. This design does not assess relationships among variables (Stangor, 2016, p.39). Meaning that a cause and effect relationship cannot be created. The results of this observation are generally limited to the group being studied. More importantly, naturalistic observation cannot be used to test research hypotheses about which types of group behavior are related to or caused by which other variables (Stangor, 2016, p.41). Sadly this movie paints a picture that falls short of fact and leans more towards fiction. Winning 5 academy awards it is a hit with the audience but with historians a bust. This is mainly due to the inconsistencies revolving around character portrayals, events, and even characters that don t exist. I m sure that this is because the truth wouldn t fair as well as the movie did. Leaving off with the opening of this movie the biggest historical mistake overall revolves around the leading character and hero of this movie, Maximus. This is because he is entirely made up, he did not exist. So every event or action that involves him is false. Lucilla and he never had relations when they were younger, he didn t kill anyone, and he was not supposed to be the protector of Rome like they showed Marcus Aurelis wanting. Although Maximus may be a compilation of people who were real. For instance the man who did command the battle in the opening scene which most likely occured in 179 was Taruttiens Paternus. • 9. Reflection Of Ecclesiastes Ecclesiastes offers an interesting ontology in which human existence is vain and uncontrollable, and in which the incomprehensible, unchangeable ways of God govern one s life. The story is recounted by a Preacher, a wise man, who, having seen all work done beneath the sun, reports: that all is vanity , that one s toils are meaningless, that nothing is new, and that one ought to live one s life enjoyably, for all men die regardless of their labors. Above all, the Preacher s writing is personal; we can t help but feel proximate to him, however negative his ontology may seem, because his writing is in the first person and appeals to us (and humanity in general) directly. Below, I will evaluate Ecclesiastes, focusing mostly on verses I:8 9 as they are particularly rich and amusing. Let s start by analyzing I:8 9: the first clause of verse 8 (All words fail through weariness) may mean that the weariness of things cannot be adequately expressed by words and that words fail because they cannot accurately describe the weariness of things ( things being those natural phenomena described in verses I: 4 7 and labor in general). Further, since man becomes speechless due to his inability to describe the weariness of things with words, we must accept that his inability to describe these things is not caused by the things, but by the words and therefore by him because it is man who creates the words which describe the things. Therefore, if we are to accept this interpretation, we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Due to strong numbers from 2010 the company set the goal to make 10 billion. As I said before Swatch wasn t always this successful. In fact, according to the case, in the 1960 s their market share fell about 41% due to competition from the then popular inexpensive watches. Throughout this time period it is interesting to see how their strategies evolved in regards to their competition, product placement, and brand management. Competitive Sports Persuasive Essay While many people believe that competitive sports should be banned from schools and from kids in general, my belief is that they have a largely outweighing positive impact. There are a few reasons that I believe so, the first of which is that they help unfit and obese children to begin living a healthy lifestyle, and also motivates them to do so. Another reason I think competitive sports should be allowed among kids is that they make you more confident and highers your self esteem. Thirdly, I believe so because with all of the work that the kids are doing at school, they need some way of having fun with their friends, and in my opinion, one of the best ways to do that is by playing a competitive sport. Competitive sports should be available to children to play. Today, over 17% of American children are obese, and when competitive sports come into play, children start getting motivated to lose weight and eat healthier, especially when their friends are participating in the sport with them. The Conflict Between Israel And Palestinian Refugees Going after their independence, Israel was looking for the support of big and powerful countries, and the cooperation of the surrounding states. Unfortunately, the Israeli independence movement did not turn out to be so easy. As the surrounding Arab nations began to get angry with the preferential treatment of the British, tensions rose between Israel and the Palestinians. Consequently, because of the superior army and the support behind Israel, the wars resulted in an abundance of Palestinian refugees that still struggle to establish their own state today. Through many efforts and support systems, international aid has been offered to the Palestinian refugees, but as proven by the millions of refugees that still live in the UNRWA camps today, none of these tactics have worked. Although international organizations were ineffective in solving the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian refugees, the establishment of an Arab state early on would have prevented a future humanitarian crisis; demonstrating the preferential treatment within foreign intervention. Even though the members were all adults they did not rebel or even give any rebuttal. They did just as he asked, so that shows me that they have respect for him. I do not think that he would have spoken as demanding as he did if he did not know them, if I was trying to develop members for any organization I would be passive and eager to please so the member would feel welcome and want to return to my groups. After everyone was seated the Asian male asked if anyone had a special scripture that they wanted to focus on. No one replied. The leader seemed to be a little disturbed. He became a little angry, he told them that he was disappointed because he assigned them homework, which was to find a scripture and bring it to the group. Some of these factors have been the committee system, seniority, and political parties. These are only a few of the factors that actually have an influence on Congress s decisions of certain operations. The first factor that seems to have influenced the operations of Congress is the committee system. Congress has four different types of committees. The four committees are the joint committees, conference committees, standing committees, and select committees. The standing committee has an influence on Congress because of the fact that they have jurisdiction over all the bills of a given type. Select ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Committee chairpersons are the ones with the real power. There is an unwritten rule that the majority party member with the longest continuous service on a committee becomes chairperson when a vacancy occurs. The committee chairperson is the only one in the committee that actually has a real say in what is going on, and that opportunity is given to the one that has served his time the longest. However, that is no longer allowed. A historical event that has influenced Congress s operations is the Legislation Reorganization act of 1970.This act ensures that there will be no more seniority because. Now a secret ballot elects them, however, the member with the most seniority usually wins anyway. The third factor that seems to have an influence on the operations of Congress is the public opinion. Logically, if the public thinks that a certain congressman doesn t know how to do his job, then he won t get elected. That s why the public opinion has a major influence the operations of Congress because the public has say if that Congressman or Congressmen will get elected again. The thing with heroes is that they are not all mythological or legendary figures; in fact, heroes can be almost anyone that holds our admiration towards them for whatever reason. Any person can be deemed a hero from the random person seen walking across the street to one of your relatives, so eloquently it is their journey that they go through that makes them become the hero. In Joseph Campbell s book, Hero with a Thousand Faces, to be a hero you have to follow along with the steps that Joseph Campbell created called Mystic Hero s Journey. From the start of the first stage where the Call to Adventure begins it all to the end where the final step the Freedom to Live ends the journey. It is taking notice how a person, such the case for my father, life choices and actions convert them from being seen as an ordinary person to a genuine hero. For Adolfo Huitron, my father, it is from the young age of 19 that he received his Call to Adventure. Straker describes in his article that the call to adventure is where the hero starts off in a mundane situation of normality from which some information is received that acts as a clarion call (Straker). He is inferencing that the hero starts off with a normal dull background and it is when something out of the norm occurs or something life changing happens that the hero in question gets his call to adventure, to begin his journey. At the age of 19, Adolfo s call to adventure was when he received the news that he was going to be a father. This news made him want to acquire a better future and life for his life. For instance, preschool and young children may not be in a position to develop the ability to identify areas where they can find security and thus establish great fear in response to trauma. Philip Larkin s Faith Healing In 1964, Philip Larkin published his third book of poetry, entitled The Whitsun Weddings . One of the many critically acclaimed poems was Faith Healing . In this essay, I intend to explore how typical this poem is in terms of subject, theme, structure and versification. In Faith Healing, women flock to an American Faith Healer for a blessing. He is omniscient; in Mr Bleaney, it is as though he is a man looking for accommodation; in Here, it is as though he is the one on a journey and in Faith Healing, he is present, observing this spectacle. Therefore, I feel that Mr Bleaney and Here are closely linked to Faith Healing in terms of structure and versification. Faith Healing is an ambiguous poem that seems critical of religion. At the start of the poem, many flock to the Faith Healer but by the third stanza, the 20 seconds with the American seem to have ruined their lives. They have had their true feelings and emotions unlocked and have realised that they have never really been loved. An immense slackening ache. Spreads slowly through them . The Faith Healer thaws these emotions and we see the women suffer a sense of real loneliness and depression as this reality dawns. This strongly correlates with the theme in Mr Bleaney, a poem exploring loneliness and the fear in which it evokes. In the poem, we are told of Mr Bleaney s old room that is cheap and not cared for. The persona explores Bleaney s life. Ironically, he finds he can identify with him in some respects. So it happens ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
