Thomas Jefferson Davis Research Paper
Jefferson was born on june 3, 1808 december 6, 1889. Jefferson davis died at age 81. He was one of
ten children born to his parents,Jane and Samuel davis. He was born in kentucky. He went to the
wilkinson academy and he also went to a catholic school. He continued his studies at jefferson college
at washington, mississippi and at transylvania university at lexington, kentucky. In june 1828 he
graduated from west point. He served under zachary taylor and fell in love with taylor s daughter.
Taylor refused to give his daughter hand in marriage to a military man because it was not a life he
wished for his child. Davis resigned the military, giving up his commission to marry sarah taylor.

He decided that general robert e. Lee should command the army of northern virginia which was a very
successful move at the time. At war s end davis was captured in irwin county georgia at fort monroe.

civil war he held a number of positions in the federal government. And before he became a leader of
slave states in rebellion he was viewed by some as a plausible future president of the united states. His
wife was sarah knox taylor. Zachary taylor was the father of sarah taylor. Davis contracted a disease
called malaria witch killed his wife.
Davis then married varina howell in 1845. Davis had six children. Davis served as an infantry officer

The Female Heroine In The 1970 s
Until the 1970 s, female heroines were almost unheard of in movies or television shows. Then, the
science fiction genre gained popularity and Star Wars followed. Men and women alike were interested
in the films and story. Princess Leia was not the generic damsel in distress, but instead was a quick
thinking soldier for the rebel forces. Soon, fans and authors began to fill in the gaps before, between,
and after the movies. Female fans went from having just Princess Leia and a few female side
characters to many characters in the written expanded universe. During this time, the prequel movies
were announced, and many fans were at first excited and then disappointed. The newer movies did not
live up to the original trilogy. Also, female fans were more disappointed to receive Padmè while the
main heroes were again male characters. Finally, Star Wars Episode VII, later known as The Force
Awakens, was announced. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were many books and comics in the New Republic Era of the expanded universe that developed
these three characters, many other including Lumiya, Melina Carniss and many other supporting
female characters from story to story. It was enough to keep the female fan base coming back for more
stories and even passing them on to friends looking for representation in an era where science fiction
was becoming a hugely popular genre. While the prequels were lacking in female representation, they
lacked in general according to fans and reviews with even Rotten Tomatoes rating Star Wars Episode
I: The Phantom Menace at 55% rotten, the lowest rated of all three new movies. Despite the fact that
Rotten Tomatoes gave a benevolent rating, even if it was lower, a quick skim through the comments

Tectonic Convergence At The Eurasian And African
Plate tectonic convergence at a rate of about 4 mm/year between the Eurasian and African. Plates
dominates the straits of Gibraltar (Argus et al., 1989). The stratigraphic evolution of the sediment
drifts is therefore greatly influenced by both regional tectonics and ocean circulation (Medialdea et al.,
2009; Lopes et al., 2006; Terrinha et al., 2009; Zitellini et al., 2009). Coring results from Expedition
339 showed that initial contourite formation started at about 4.5 to 4.2 Ma ago with more prominent
formation of the contourite drifts taking place in the Quaternary (Expedition 339 Scientists, 2012).
Today, circulation passing through the straits of Gibraltar is noticeable and identifiable by the
exchange of warm and salty MOW with cool and less salty North Atlantic water flowing into the
Mediterranean Sea. The MOW has a temperature of about 12°C. The sill depth of the straits of
Gibraltar known as the Camarinal Sill is about 280 m. The mixing of the MOW with the North
Atlantic central water forms two water masses, one at 500 700 m depth and the other at 800 1400 m
depth (Amber and Howe, 1979; Voelker et al., 2006; Stow et al., 2011; Voelker and de Abreu, 2011).
The formation of these water masses leads to the emergence of strong bottom currents that flow
northwestward along the margin above the North Atlantic Deep water and under the Atlantic Inflow
Water. More importantly, the merging of these strong currents and the bathymetry of the Gulf of Cadiz
has led to

New Method Of Ultrahard Material Synthesis
New Method in Ultrahard Material Synthesis: CS2 Catalyzed Ultrahard Fullerite
Ultrahard materials is a broad category define by materials that are harder than diamond. Diamond,
thought to be the hardest material for centuries hasn t been the hardest material seen by scientists in a
long time. Many materials have been developed or discovered recently that surpass the 150 GPa
hardness of diamond by as much as 100%. There are many ways to measure the hardness of a
material, from the classic scratch test to more complicated bulk modulus calculations. Other tests of
hardness include indentation and rebound tests, or measurements of the elastic and shear modulus.
Ultrahard fullerite is one such material that has surpassed diamond with values ... Show more content

Structural studies of fullerite are hampered by its lack of a 4 or 6 fold axis, so long term periodicity in
fullerite s crystal lattice isn t possible for covalently bonded fullerene molecules in three dimensions.
TEM studies have shown a sequence of FCC phases that have been explained by bonded fullerene
chains formation. Because of this difficulty, researchers have turned to Raman spectroscopy to study
the polymerization, which has features explained by the C60 phonon spectra perturbations by
intermolecular covalent bonding. The 3D polymerized phases produced in ultrahard fullerite synthesis
are phase IV and V, where phase V is the desired ultrahard fullerite. Phase V is translucent in the near
IR or visible range having a Raman spectrum containing two broad peaks around 1550 cm 1 and
around 500 cm 1.
Prior to research by Popov et al., the synthesis conditions of ultrahard fullerite depended on a degree
of plastic deformation and stress tensor variation of a sample under compression. The minimum
required pressure for synthesis was 13 GPa at 1100 K, or 18 GPa at room temperature, both of which
aren t suitable for industrial production without a catalyst. The polymerization of fullerene molecules
starts under sunlight irradiation at ambient temperatures to create dimers. These simple conditions for
these intermolecular bonds to form led researchers to hypothesize

Albert s Life-Personal Narrative
I didn t want to go with Albert. There was far too much going on to miss any of it. I tried to dig my
heels into the ground in a desperate attempt to keep my annoyed brother from dragging me on, but he
only tightened his grip on my wrist. I could hear shouts and excitement coming from a block away,
where I had been hastily pulled from my friends in Albert s attempt to escape the chaos before we
could be captivated by the beginnings of a strike. He knew I was curious; when am I not? But as an
eight year old street boy with only a fiery haired, freckled older brother to call family, this was the
excitement I had been longing for. We continued down the early morning streets of New York, the sun
barely peeking over the towering concrete and stone giants surrounding us. Not many people were out
at this time of day, and it felt as though there were even less with all the newsies absent from their
usual corners. Albert had started to slow down as we got closer to the Lodging House. It was quiet, as
if a strange spirit had taken over now that all the rambunctious and rowdy young boys were out
causing trouble elsewhere. Even from farther away, you could still hear faint shouts in the distance
rising up from the aforementioned ragamuffins. When one particularly loud uproar rose into the air,

anything for him to understand how sorry I was. We trudged back to the Lodging House, silence

The Meaning Of Art
For many individuals collecting and viewing art might be thought of as a favorite hobby or past time.
Individuals might be seen at a local art museum just gazing at a piece of art, exhibiting almost signs of
being in a trance of deep thought as one stands front and center, not moving for what seems to be an
endless amount of time. The reason for such an appreciation for art, might be what it represents. Lisa
Marder writes, Art can be thought of as a symbol of what it means to be human, manifested in
physical form for others to see and interpret. It can serve as a symbol for something that is tangible, or
for a thought, an emotion, a feeling, or a concept. Through peaceful means, it can convey the full
spectrum of the human experience. (Marder, 2017, para. 28). Meaning, art really has the ability to
express many things and perspectives, which can also be represented in various shapes, sizes, and
forms such as, drawings, sculptures, paintings, etc. With that being said, art is not only about the
message that is being conveyed, but also a significance placed upon how the message is conveyed.
There is a lot of thought and precision that goes into creating such art, that will enhance the message
being conveyed; form and composition, material and technique, the lines, color, and texture, space and
perspective, and proportion and scale. It is that same thought and precision that went into the 1941
creation of John Steuart Curry s, Our Good Earth (Kevernacular, 2014). The Our

Between the great Wars, Australian art was under the strong impact of the European trends. The
painters adopted the techniques of the leading European artists. The emergence appearance of the
Modernism and Cubism was due to the hard work of Australian female artists such as Grace
Cossington Smith and Grace Crowley. These women found an inspiration in different art streams but
both could create a respective career. Their creations emphasized on structure, colour and design. At
the beginning, the public did not perceive the new art directions as they were unfamiliar with them.
The men s art world strongly criticized the women s attempts to bring the modern art movements in

Factors Influencing Political System Of Indonesia
RELATION(S) OF FIVE MAJOR FACTORS IN INFLUENCING POLITICAL SYSTEM AND TO
THE PEOPLE IN INDONESIA How is the relation of five major factors in influencing political
system of Indonesia? Those some of five major factors have a great relations. For instance is youth
and media as already explained before. Youth use media, especially social media, in delivering their
aspiration to the government of Indonesia. Youth also sometimes use political parties in delivering
aspiration to influence political system of Indonesia. Other examples are media and political parties,
Islam and political parties, and so on. Islam and political parties have a great relation in influencing
political system of Indonesia. We can see the example is the existence of political parties based on
Islam. For instance are PKS, PKB, PBB, and so on. Next is media and political parties. They also have
a great relation in establishing political system of Indonesia. Political parties often deliver their

Neurodevelopmental treatment deals with proprioceptive and Kinesthetic
perceptious as they relate to functional movement patterns. These
approaches provide training in the perceptual processing components of
functional behavior with perceptual drills or specific sequences of
sensorimotor exercises.
These are the common assumptions underlying the adaptive and
remedial treatments used currently. Occupational therapy s perceptual
retraining literature includes description of both adaptive and remedial
approaches. (Siev et al. 1986), for
example four perceptual treatment Approaches for adults:
A) Sensory integration
B) Transfer of training
C) Functional training and
D) Neurodevelopmental.
Three of these approaches sensory integration, transfer of training,
and neurodevelopmental can be classified as remedial because their
underlying assumptions match the remedial assumption outlined
previously such as the retraining sequences.
In the sensory integration and neurodevelopmental approaches,
the therapist provides controlled vestibular, tactile, proprioceptive, and
kenesthetic stimulation to promote normal central nervous system
processing of sensory information. Theoretically, because perceptual
motor behaviors are performed in response to the nervous systems
interpretation of sensory inputs, normal sensory processing should help

Technology For Perceiving The Environment, Understanding...
Sensors Overview:
They are the key technology for perceiving the environment, Understanding the physical principle
enables appropriate use
Global Positioning System (GPS) Sensors:
GPS sensors are receivers with antennas that use a satellite based navigation system with a network of
24 satellites in orbit around the earth to provide position, speed , and time information.
The GPS was originally developed for use by the United States army, but in the 1980s, the United
States government allowed the system to be used for civilian people. Though the GPS satellite data is
free and works anywhere in the world.
By using the GPS sensor, you can get current information from the GPS receiver, such as (x) and (y)
coordinates, and velocity.
LIDAR SENSOR
Lidar (also called LIDAR, LiDAR, and LADAR) is a surveying method that measures distance to a
target by illuminating that target with a laser light. The name lidar, sometimes considered an acronym
of Light Detection And Ranging,(sometimes Light Imaging, Detection, And Ranging), was originally
a portmanteau of light and radar . Lidar is popularly used to make high resolution maps, with
applications in geodesy geomatics , archaeology geography, geology, geomorphology, seismology
,forestry atmospheric physics, laser guidance, airborne laser swath mapping (ALSM), and laser
altimetry. Lidar sometimes is called laser scanning and 3D scanning, with terrestrial, and cellphones
applications.
Lidar uses ultraviolet visible or near infrared

The Effects of Society in Virginia Woolf s Mrs. Dalloway...
Society is a constant changing idea, whether that change be from region to region or a period of time.
People move through it without thinking what they really are doing. Often they do not realize how
much pressure society places on one s being. It is the basis of how a person forms their opinions,
beliefs, and morals. The structure of behavior rests in the society one is raised in. People s acceptance
of one another and a desire to conform create a world where people are struggling to fit in. Virginia
Woolf sees this.
Woolf views society as a center for conflict for the characters in her novel. They struggle with the
internal dilemma of whether they should be who they want to be or what everyone else wants them to
be. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Septimus is afraid that if he allows any emotion to penetrate him, whether that be joy or sorrow, then
he will be forced to deal with the loss of his friend. As Emily Jensen states, war cuts short Septimus s
first feelings for Evans, and because he does not understand the meaning of that relationship, he
participates in what becomes a frustration of his ability to feel at all. (426) The idea that Jensen
describes is an example of why Septimus refuses to feel any emotion. The frustration comes from the
moment when Evans was killed and Septimus felt nothing. This is found when Woolf says:
...when Evans was killed, just before Armistice, in Italy, Septimus, far from showing any emotion or
recognizing that here was the end of a friendship congratulated himself upon feeling very little and
very reasonably. The War had taught him. It was sublime. He had gone through the whole show,
friendship, European War, death, had won promotion, was still under thirty and was bound to survive.
He was right there. The last shells missed him. He watched them explode with indifference. (130)
When Septimus does not feel anything when watching his friend die, he retracts himself from not only
his own feelings but also the feelings of everyone else. A fear of acceptance of Evan s death is what
pushed Septimus to create a world where there is no feeling whatsoever. As Molly Hoff stated,
Septimus is irredeemably alone, because he has completely shut himself

Augustine, Lucretius and the Dispute of Free Will
Augustine and Lucretius and the Dispute of Free Will
Augustine: Hello Lucretius.
Lucretius: Hello Augustine.
Augustine: What brings you to these parts?
Lucretius: I just wanted to update my findings on the philosophy of Epicureanism and also the theory
of free will.
Augustine: Free will, you say?
Lucretius: Yes free will. Do you have any idea of what free will is?
Augustine: Why yes I do, for it is a will by which we seek to live a good and upright life and to attain
unto perfect wisdom.
Lucretius: Exactly.
Augustine: Are you familiar of how one is able to attain free will Lucretius?
Lucretius: We obtain free by the collision of atoms which will then create a swerve. However it is very
important to know how the atoms move and there is a total of three movements.
Augustine: Then tell me these three different movements.
Lucretius: The three atomic motions are, downward fall of atoms, collision, and swerve.
Augustine: How are these three movements distinct from one another?
Lucretius: The downward fall of atoms just fall at a regular speed and follow within the same
direction, collision is when they become fused into the elementary building blocks which give rise to
matter and life being driven into closer union and held there by the entanglement of their
Interlocking shapes, and one of the most important motions, swerve, is the spontaneous and
infinitesimally small change of direction in the course of an atom s downward fall.

Medea And Jason Essay
The play Medea By Euripides is Greek play, first performed in 431 B.C. The two main characters,
Jason and Medea, first met while Jason was on a quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece and reclaim his
place as king. While on this journey Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, made Medea fall madly in
love with Jason. After returning to Corinth the two lovers have a pair of sons and then everything
seems to go downhill for them, from them. Jason leaves Medea, for the princess of Corinth, in pursuit
of a better life and a more stable income. Jason sees this as a sign of affection towards Medea and
their children. He says that it is not for a lack of love that her leaves her, but for a lack of money and
provision for their sons. A man s friends leave him stone cold if he becomes poor, (18) Jason says
referring to what will happen if he does not marry the princess and inherit more money to share with
his children. Medea takes this a great sign of disrespect and mourns the loss of Jason in her live before
eagerly planning his demise. After this Medea proves time and time again that she does not have a
clear image of their relationship, is mentally unstable, and suffers no for repercussions for her actions.

The Indo-China Border Dispute
The India Chinese border dispute is a long lasting disagreement that has had, and continues today, to
possess much influence on the geopolitical framework of Asia. The border disputes are not over large
land masses, only several thousand square kilometers is being contested. These two nations however
have large and powerful armies making any dispute between these nations threatening to peace and
stability in that region. The purpose of this essay is to examine this conflict and highlight important
facts about this disagreement in an effort to understand and reach reasonable solutions to this tense
situation. Goswami (2013) recently reported about the current situation. He claimed that Sino Indian
relations are still affected by some thorny divergences over issues like the McMahon line and the
presence of the Tibetan government in exile. These contradictions are further complicated by border
negotiations held in a climate of Indian apprehensions that the 1962 border war between China and
India could be repeated. In other words, this appears to be two states holding a grudge over past
tensions. The most important facet of this conflict deals with the large size and potential devastation of
military conflict between these two nations. What differs from fifty years ago is the amount of military
capabilities both India and China have accumulated over that time span. Through the China India
conflict, one envisages a scenario where a nuclear armed China and India with more

Trojan War in Homer´s The Iliad
Homer s Heroes
The epic poem called The Iliad written by Homer concerns the Trojan War. It shows Trojan and
Achaean warriors courage, bravery and their attempt to become the best fighter to get fame, glory, and
honor. The heroes in The Iliad follow Homer s heroic code, striving for excellence. Hector and
Achilles strength comes from their desire for fame, glory, honor and their acceptance of fate. These
qualities are considered to be characteristics of Homer s heroic code. However, the actions of Paris are
not heroic causing trouble and conflict for many people. In fact, Paris non heroic action started the

Thetis...tells me of two possible destinies...two ways: if on one hand I remain to fight around Troy
town, I lose all hope of home but gain unfading glory; on the other, if I sail back to my own land my
glory fails but a long life lies ahead of me. (K 47 54)
The proper burial which Achilles does for all his victims in the war is a heroic action. Since burial is a
very important thing for both Achaeans and Trojans, the families of the dead ones were able to
appreciate Achilles respect for the dead people. Andromache says of Achilles attack on her father:
He killed him, but, reverent at least in this, did not spoil him. Body, gear, and weapon forged so
handsomely, he burned, and heaped a barrow over the ashes. Elms were planted round by mountain
nymphs of him who bears the storm cloud. (J 127 33)
Achilles requests to his mother, Thetis, to ask Zeus and make the Trojans stronger until Agamemnon
and his army realize that they need Achilles back in order to win the war. So, Thetis asks Zeus, Lend
the Trojans power,/ until the Achaeans recompense my son/ and heap new honour upon him! (C 20 23)
The strategy that Achilles plans works out and eventually he is back in the army. However since he
chooses fame and glory over a long and relaxing life, the time for Achilles death comes. Being the
hero that he is, Achilles accepts his fate when Hector foreshadows it and mentions his death is close
by.

The Importance Of William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare had competition for being the greatest playwright to ever live. The Importance
of William Shakespeare authored by Thomas Thrasher, nonfiction book, about Shakespeare s early life
and what happened during those times in London, England. First, John Shakespeare, William s father,
begins as an apprentice glove maker before marrying Mary Arden, receiving a coat of arms, and
opening his own shop. Furthermore, William Shakespeare s early life includes becoming an aletaster,
constable, affeeror, burgess, alderman, and finally a bailiff. Moreover, William is married to Anne

Henry Chettle. Finally, William s theater company loses moral during the plague.
Foremost, John Shakespeare started out as a humble farmer only to rise up the ranks and become a
nobleman. He moved to Stratford upon Avon where money is made and starts out as an apprentice
glove maker. During his stay, he finishes his apprenticeship and starts his own shop making enough
money to support himself. For example, when John Shakespeare creates his own shop he makes
enough money to support himself and the text states, He began to make gloves and leather goods for
the local gentry. He must have done well because there are records of him purchasing lands and

they were deemed God given signs of bad things to come. However, when exactly does a person gain

heroic, does that cancel out their villainy? And vice versa? While Beowulf exhibits a multitude of
heroic attributes, his undermining beast like qualities are hard to miss, and essentially pose the
question to the reader: What is the relationship between monster and hero, and is there an overlap?

With a great and horrendous monster like Grendel, one would think that the author would describe the
onset fear he produces onto his victims. However, when Grendel and Beowulf commence their battle,
there is an immediate change of tone and diction that visibly illustrates a fear of Beowulf and his
strength. From The captain of evil discovered himself in a handgrip harder than anything he had ever
encountered in any man on the face of the Earth. (lines 749 752) to It was the worst trip the terror
monger had taken to Heorot. (lines 764 765). If the poet were to omit the nouns used to entitle
Grendel(captain of evil and terror monger), with that of his actual name, one could not help but
sympathize with his pain. The climax of his fear ends with Then an extraordinary wail arose, and
bewildering fear came over the Danes. (lines 781 783). It is interesting to see that the Danes is
described as in fear, once Grendel has cried out in explicit pain due to his defeat. This ties back to the
roles and relationship of Heroes and Monsters.
Whilst Beowulf is the Hero of this epic, his presence and actions descriptively trigger the most fear
among the monster, and thus the the danes as well. This leads to the manifestation of a sort of evil
twin story line. An evil twin story usually depicts physical copies of protagonists, but with profoundly
inverted moralities. However,

Who Killed Benny Paret
Millions of people worldwide take part as spectators to the sport of prize fighting: better known as
boxing. In a 1962 essay entitled Who Killed Benny Paret? the author, Norman Cousins, writes about
the dangers that come with the sport of boxing. He especially talks about a match that resulted in the
death of a boxer named Benny Paret. Cousins argues that boxing is just a show of violence and that
boxers put themselves in the ring just for the simple purpose of entertaining a crowd. Even though
investigations reflect the role of the referee, Paret s manager, and the doctor s examinations as the
main cause of Paret s death, Cousins blames Paret s death on the people that attends boxing matches to

The referee could it stop the fight, the manager should it not rushed Paret to fight if he was not ready
and the doctors should it examined him further. Boxers sometimes face the challenge of defeating
their opponent for many reasons. Those reasons could be to prove they can win, to earn money and to
not disappoint or lead down fans and beaters. Many boxers choose boxing because they are good at it
and it s a way of earning money, just like Benny Paret. Boxing is a dangerous sport since every boxer
become badly hurt and ill at the end of every match. Most boxers suffer from brain damages as a result
of many hits in the head. Cousins explains that Benny Paret was killed because of a massive
hemorrhage in the brain, caused by an impact directed against the head (par. 7) Cousins also wrote Not
every blow to the head will kill a man but there is always the risk of concussion and damage to the
brain (par. 7). Fighters that survive repeated concussions still go and fight, but the problem here is that
the damage in the brain may be permanent. Sometimes boxers should consider their health problems
before fighting again. The viewers are the main encouragement for boxers to keep fighting or to fight
harder. They don t come out to see a tee party, said Mike Jacobs evenly. They come out to see the
knockout. They come out to see a man hurt. If they think anything else, they re kidding themselves

Role Of The Dutch Colonial Rule
In this write up I will argue that despite factors such as different identities, the largely prevalent
separatist conflicts in Indonesia are mainly based on resources. I will attempt to demonstrate that
identity was instrumentalized in the colonial times to gain political and economic control, and that
spilled over to an internal colonialism in Indonesia in contemporary times. This created the foundation
for the Central government to instrumentalize constructed identities to gain economic control over the
resource rich minority islands, which led to violent separatist conflicts throughout the archipelago. To
begin with we can examine the role of the Dutch colonial rule in the Dutch East Indies and how they
laid the foundation for instrumentalist manipulation. With 13,466 islands, 360 ethnic groups and 719
languages the Dutch were extremely aware of the diversity that prevailed in this region (The
Economist, 2014). These various ethnicities and communities lived in peace prior to the Dutch role.
However upon the exit of the Dutch, this peace was shattered. The main purpose of exerting control
over Indonesia can best be explained by Immanuel Wallersteins world systems theory. It characterizes
the world system as a set of mechanisms, which redistributes surplus value from the periphery to the
core (Barfield, 1997). In the capitalist world system, the West makes up the core , while the regions of
Aceh and West Papua make up the periphery . In these regions

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Hire Purchase
4. The terms of agreements are unlikely to be fair, for the hirer rarely deals on equal footing with the

BENEFITS OF THE HIRE PURCHASE AGREEMENT
There were two reasons for the adoption of the Hire Purchase Act which include: 1) To allow credit to
someone who is unable to pay cash for the goods he wants and who would be glad to pay some
deposit and there after pay the balance installment at a stipulated rate of interest. Since this encourages
people to demand more goods, the system has become an instrument of economic policy.

The Inevitable Fate Of Juliet In Shakespeare s Romeo And...
Have you ever seen someone at a party or walking around and fell in love with them at first sight?
Well in William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet the main character, Romeo and Juliet fall in love at
first sight at Juliet s families party. This book is set in London in the mid 1590s. There are two
families that don t like each other at all. One family is the Montague, which is Romeo s family. Then
the other family is the Capulet, which is Juliet s family. There has been a family feud going on for a
long long time and seems like it will never end. Romeo and Juliet get into a lot of trouble throughout
the book. It starts from when they meet. Their families the Montague, and Capulet, don t mix well,

Wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name.
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I ll no longer be a Capulet. (2.2. 36.39)
This is a very important scene and set of lines. Also at the beginning of this act Romeo is talking but
Juliet can t hear him or see him. Same for her, she is saying thing about him but he does not her her.
Romeo just sees Juliet s beauty on the balcony. Juliet says O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou
Romeo? She is not saying where are you. She is saying why Romeo, why are you a Montague. Don t
listen to your parents take away that last name. If you do that I will do that
3 also, I won t be a capulet. As I said before this is a very important set of lines, because everyone
remembers and talks about this when they think of Romeo and Juliet the story.
Throughout the book, the love between Romeo and Juliet gets stronger and more serious. In Act two
they are already planning a wedding. Just a side note, they have only meet less than twenty four hours
before they are planning a wedding:
Juliet:

Romeo: My [dear]
Juliet: What o clock tomorrow

Archetypes Carl Jung
Carl Jung was a Swiss innovator progressing various theories of the unconscious mind. The Swiss
psychotherapist based his work on Sigmund Freud s perspectives and beliefs of the unconscious mind.
Carl Jung had deducted that a human s unconscious personality could not have started in the cognizant
personality. The thought that certain ideas and pieces of imagination within the unconscious were
shared to all individuals within a society was assumed by Jung. This mental imagery were claimed as
Archetypes by Jung (hence the term Jungian archetypes ) due to the images being ubiquitous and all
inclusive to humans. A famous example of a Jungian archetype is the structure of the father and
mother. Carl Jung later assumed through his work that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

because genetics can influence the way humans think, physically endure the environment, survive, etc.
There may be a great similarity in the way humans are physically constructed due to genetics. This
aspect can also greatly affect brain structure. Assuming that a human s brain works similarly to his or

Standard Scores
2. What is a standard score?
A standard score is a scores that enables us to refer to the performance of an individual pupil in
relation to the whole population where the mean is 100 and the standard deviation is usually 15. It also
allows schools to base their assessments per school year. This is due to standarised scores taking into
account the age of the pupil. A pupil in year 9 that has a date of birth of September would generally be
expected to get a higher raw score than a pupil born in July, both pupils being in the same academic
year. However, when calculating the standard score the age will be taken into account. This ensures
that relevant interventions/arrangements can be put in place for pupils based on the standard score.

Standardised scores that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One standard deviation is usually represented by 15 points from the mean. 2 standard deviations are
calculated usually by 30 points from the mean.
One standard deviation away from the mean in either direction represents around 68% of the
population that took that test. Two standard deviations away from the mean represent 95% of the
population.
8. What is reliability? What reliability should we choose when selecting a test?
Reliability of a test is measured by how accurate and consistent that test is when measuring a target
skill. For a test to be reliable it must have reliability of 0.8 or over. A reliable test should give us a
consistent score every time it is completed, i.e. if it a pupil was to complete the same test that was
delivered by 2 different assessors on 2 different days, a reliable test should still give us the same
outcome on both tests on both days.

Validity is a measurement of how well a test measures the skill that needs to be

Because of nitrous oxide s stability, it is not metabolized. Once the inhalation is cut off, it is

In the case of medical care, nitrous oxygen mixed with oxygen prevents pain. Some side effects

When nitrous oxide is used in cars and rockets, it vaporizes, causing a significant cooling effect on the

In our modern society, the mass media and popular culture have cooperative relationships between the
dominant and subordinate group, thus the media tend to reinforce and highlight the values and images
of those who create the messages and own the means of distribution. In doing so, Disney movies
exhibit clear messages for children in general; what the media define as normal reinforces the
stereotypes of gender, while intersectionality can challenge hegemonic ideas about gender by adding
multiple different categories, It is clear that the themes and messages from Disney s popular animated
films influence females perception of gender. Laura Sells (2016) suggested the Disney version of The
Little Mermaid reinforces women s struggle to make sure they secure a place in a patriarchal society.
The Disney rendition is an allegory for women trying to gain access to the male sphere society by
sacrificing women s strength. On the other hand, I see The little Mermaid as also more liberatory
because it contains the means of its own undoing in the camp character of Ursula the Sea Witch, and
in Disney s compulsory happy ending which bestows the mermaid with both access and voice (2016,

Is Clara Barton A True Hero
Arthur Ashe once said, True heroism is not the urge to surpass others at whatever cost, but the urge to
serve others at whatever cost. Someone who stays strong in their heart and shows selflessness towards
others even though he or she could be in the risk of personal risk and danger is what makes a true
hero. Anyone could be recognized and admired as a hero if they could, but there s a big gap in front of
that because it adds on with the hero showing compassion in spite of the obstacles that they are faced
with. It could make someone more heroic than he or she ever was by just showing selflessness to
others. Clara Barton put herself in danger to treat the wounded during the Civil War and not only that,
but she founded what is known today the American Red Cross (History.com). Harriet Tubman helped
many slaves to freedom in the north, also placing herself in peril. (History.com). Florence Nightingale,
who was a nursing innovator did the similar as Clara Barton, but during the Crimean War
(History.com Biography.com). All of these women stressed the idea of helping others before they did
so for themselves, but that took bravery to do so. Whether the challenges that a hero has to endure, a
true hero puts others before themselves no matter what the position he or she is set in.
To begin with, Clara Barton was not only the founder of the American Red Cross, a relief to those hurt
in war or natural disasters, but someone who was admired as a hero to many people in the past and

Socrates In Plato s The Apologia
The Apologia
Through the analyzing of The Apologia, is it learned much about the life of Socrates as well as how he
lived. In the Apology, Plato recounts the words given by Socrates during his trying in which he was
sentenced to death. During the trial, Socrates defends himself on two charges, which are set in writing
by Meletus, one of the prosecutors. The first set of charges Socrates refers to them as the first lying
accusations , and are informal charges to set an image of who people believe Socrates to be. The
second set makes up the formal accusations and the charges that they hope commit Socrates to death.
The speech was given by Socrates to defend himself to the Athenian Council against chargers of
corrupting the young, and by not believing in the gods the city believes that are in the novel. Although
no such speech was recorded, with the idea that Plato was at the trial, we can conclude that the
dialogue of the Apologia contains words as they were remembered by Plato. The original speech was
written in 399 BC in hopes of Socrates defending his reputation against his accusers. The speech was
then rewritten by Plato as remembers the trial and words . Socrates. addresses each charges in the

Kenneth Branagh Hamlet Comparison Essay
Kenneth Branagh successfully adapts Shakespeare s Hamlet into a modern film. His version of the
tragedy allows enthusiasts to experience Shakespeare as a movie. Branagh s use of an unabridged
script and flashback scenes provide the complete story of Hamlet. The variety of camera shots
highlight Hamlet s intense dialogue and soliloquies. Patrick Doyle s original score emphasizes action,
suspense, and drama. Therefore, through his screenplay, cinematography, and score, Branagh caters to
Shakespeare enthusiasts interested in seeing Hamlet on the big screen.
Branagh made the choice to include the full text of Hamlet in his screenplay. It is the only unabridged
film edition of the tragedy (Massey). The full script provides the complete story of Hamlet for the
audience. In other film adaptations, certain lines, scenes, or characters may be omitted. In Hamlet
(1948), Fortinbras, Rosencrantz, and Guildenstern are cut entirely (Jackson). As well as the entire text,
Branagh also uses flashbacks to further develop Shakespeare s story. Flashback scenes depict Hamlet s
prior relationship with Ophelia, Claudius murdering King Hamlet, and Hamlet playing with jester

Drug Arrests on College Campuses
Drug arrests on college campuses have become an escalating issue around the United States for
several years. Rehabs.com is said to be a website that aids people overcome their addictions. I will get
into more detail about this later in the paper. This same website conducted a study about colleges that
included the most on campus arrests, including those who occur in the residence halls. This was
known as the rehabs.com report. This report was led by the Drugs on Campus Head Jon Millward.
This report concludes that College at Oneonta in New York State tops the list in drug arrests on
college campuses around the nation. Other SUNY colleges are mentioned in this report as well. SUNY
schools include SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Oswego, SUNY Geneseo, SUNY Albany and a few others as
well. In this paper I will primarily discuss in depth three main issues associated with the report and
why these make the report very controversial. One point that I will be arguing in this paper will be that
the report lacks an author and a publisher. Validity is not present in a report where the author and the
publisher is missing. It makes us think that the information is unreliable, since it is unclear as to where
it came from. The second point that I will be addressing is that I will discuss the importance of social
media. The media has also many uses as well, such as to keep close contact with friends and to
distribute information online quickly. The rehabs.com report was widely covered by the media,

Companies reward their employees with both tangible goods, as well as praise. For example, a sales
department may offer a monthly bonus to the highest earner. Not all tangible rewards come in the form
of money. Some companies host free lunches, or give away company gear to good workers. Many
managers choose to reward their best employees by simply praising them for a job well done, or by
recognizing the hard work they put in to a project.

The appreciation of those skills can be a greater motivator than any reward or threat.
Employees need direction. A flaw with consequence based leadership styles is that it doesn t tell
employees how to succeed. It tells them they must succeed, but not how to do so. That doesn t mean
that transactional leadership doesn t work. It just means that employees still need some direction from
above. When leaders are more involved, employees know they can count on them to provide a
direction.
Transactional leadership can encourage unethical behavior. When in their best interest, employees can
resort to unethical means to achieve results. The temptation of rewards and fear of consequences is
compelling. It can encourage deception or illegal activity. Employees may sabotage the company s
interests in pursuit of their own. As a precaution, businesses need to be clear on the terms employees
must work under. Employees are also less likely to resort to unethical behavior when their leaders are
able to earn their loyalty.
This is not to say that transactional leadership does not work. Rewards and punishments are great tools
to motivate. However, they may be far more effective when combined with other leadership styles and
motivation tools. Making employees feel included can provide greater motivation and overall
satisfaction.
The transactional style has always been effective. It has also been overused by many companies.

innocent drivers and pedestrians. Some may argue that using cell phones in the car is completely safe
as long as the driver uses a hands free system. Conventional wisdom

  • 4. Tectonic Convergence At The Eurasian And African Plate tectonic convergence at a rate of about 4 mm/year between the Eurasian and African. Plates dominates the straits of Gibraltar (Argus et al., 1989). The stratigraphic evolution of the sediment drifts is therefore greatly influenced by both regional tectonics and ocean circulation (Medialdea et al., 2009; Lopes et al., 2006; Terrinha et al., 2009; Zitellini et al., 2009). Coring results from Expedition 339 showed that initial contourite formation started at about 4.5 to 4.2 Ma ago with more prominent formation of the contourite drifts taking place in the Quaternary (Expedition 339 Scientists, 2012). Today, circulation passing through the straits of Gibraltar is noticeable and identifiable by the exchange of warm and salty MOW with cool and less salty North Atlantic water flowing into the Mediterranean Sea. The MOW has a temperature of about 12°C. The sill depth of the straits of Gibraltar known as the Camarinal Sill is about 280 m. The mixing of the MOW with the North Atlantic central water forms two water masses, one at 500 700 m depth and the other at 800 1400 m depth (Amber and Howe, 1979; Voelker et al., 2006; Stow et al., 2011; Voelker and de Abreu, 2011). The formation of these water masses leads to the emergence of strong bottom currents that flow northwestward along the margin above the North Atlantic Deep water and under the Atlantic Inflow Water. More importantly, the merging of these strong currents and the bathymetry of the Gulf of Cadiz has led to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. New Method Of Ultrahard Material Synthesis New Method in Ultrahard Material Synthesis: CS2 Catalyzed Ultrahard Fullerite Ultrahard materials is a broad category define by materials that are harder than diamond. Diamond, thought to be the hardest material for centuries hasn t been the hardest material seen by scientists in a long time. Many materials have been developed or discovered recently that surpass the 150 GPa hardness of diamond by as much as 100%. There are many ways to measure the hardness of a material, from the classic scratch test to more complicated bulk modulus calculations. Other tests of hardness include indentation and rebound tests, or measurements of the elastic and shear modulus. Ultrahard fullerite is one such material that has surpassed diamond with values ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Structural studies of fullerite are hampered by its lack of a 4 or 6 fold axis, so long term periodicity in fullerite s crystal lattice isn t possible for covalently bonded fullerene molecules in three dimensions. TEM studies have shown a sequence of FCC phases that have been explained by bonded fullerene chains formation. Because of this difficulty, researchers have turned to Raman spectroscopy to study the polymerization, which has features explained by the C60 phonon spectra perturbations by intermolecular covalent bonding. The 3D polymerized phases produced in ultrahard fullerite synthesis are phase IV and V, where phase V is the desired ultrahard fullerite. Phase V is translucent in the near IR or visible range having a Raman spectrum containing two broad peaks around 1550 cm 1 and around 500 cm 1. Prior to research by Popov et al., the synthesis conditions of ultrahard fullerite depended on a degree of plastic deformation and stress tensor variation of a sample under compression. The minimum required pressure for synthesis was 13 GPa at 1100 K, or 18 GPa at room temperature, both of which aren t suitable for industrial production without a catalyst. The polymerization of fullerene molecules starts under sunlight irradiation at ambient temperatures to create dimers. These simple conditions for these intermolecular bonds to form led researchers to hypothesize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I tried to dig my heels into the ground in a desperate attempt to keep my annoyed brother from dragging me on, but he only tightened his grip on my wrist. I could hear shouts and excitement coming from a block away, where I had been hastily pulled from my friends in Albert s attempt to escape the chaos before we could be captivated by the beginnings of a strike. He knew I was curious; when am I not? But as an eight year old street boy with only a fiery haired, freckled older brother to call family, this was the excitement I had been longing for. We continued down the early morning streets of New York, the sun barely peeking over the towering concrete and stone giants surrounding us. Not many people were out at this time of day, and it felt as though there were even less with all the newsies absent from their usual corners. Albert had started to slow down as we got closer to the Lodging House. It was quiet, as if a strange spirit had taken over now that all the rambunctious and rowdy young boys were out causing trouble elsewhere. • 7. The Meaning Of Art For many individuals collecting and viewing art might be thought of as a favorite hobby or past time. Individuals might be seen at a local art museum just gazing at a piece of art, exhibiting almost signs of being in a trance of deep thought as one stands front and center, not moving for what seems to be an endless amount of time. The reason for such an appreciation for art, might be what it represents. Lisa Marder writes, Art can be thought of as a symbol of what it means to be human, manifested in physical form for others to see and interpret. It can serve as a symbol for something that is tangible, or for a thought, an emotion, a feeling, or a concept. Through peaceful means, it can convey the full spectrum of the human experience. (Marder, 2017, para. 28). Meaning, art really has the ability to express many things and perspectives, which can also be represented in various shapes, sizes, and forms such as, drawings, sculptures, paintings, etc. With that being said, art is not only about the message that is being conveyed, but also a significance placed upon how the message is conveyed. There is a lot of thought and precision that goes into creating such art, that will enhance the message being conveyed; form and composition, material and technique, the lines, color, and texture, space and perspective, and proportion and scale. It is that same thought and precision that went into the 1941 creation of John Steuart Curry s, Our Good Earth (Kevernacular, 2014). The Our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People move through it without thinking what they really are doing. Often they do not realize how much pressure society places on one s being. It is the basis of how a person forms their opinions, beliefs, and morals. The structure of behavior rests in the society one is raised in. People s acceptance of one another and a desire to conform create a world where people are struggling to fit in. Virginia Woolf sees this. Woolf views society as a center for conflict for the characters in her novel. (426) The idea that Jensen describes is an example of why Septimus refuses to feel any emotion. The frustration comes from the moment when Evans was killed and Septimus felt nothing. This is found when Woolf says: ...when Evans was killed, just before Armistice, in Italy, Septimus, far from showing any emotion or recognizing that here was the end of a friendship congratulated himself upon feeling very little and very reasonably. These contradictions are further complicated by border negotiations held in a climate of Indian apprehensions that the 1962 border war between China and India could be repeated. In other words, this appears to be two states holding a grudge over past tensions. The most important facet of this conflict deals with the large size and potential devastation of military conflict between these two nations. • 24. Role Of The Dutch Colonial Rule In this write up I will argue that despite factors such as different identities, the largely prevalent separatist conflicts in Indonesia are mainly based on resources. I will attempt to demonstrate that identity was instrumentalized in the colonial times to gain political and economic control, and that spilled over to an internal colonialism in Indonesia in contemporary times. This created the foundation for the Central government to instrumentalize constructed identities to gain economic control over the resource rich minority islands, which led to violent separatist conflicts throughout the archipelago. To begin with we can examine the role of the Dutch colonial rule in the Dutch East Indies and how they laid the foundation for instrumentalist manipulation. With 13,466 islands, 360 ethnic groups and 719 languages the Dutch were extremely aware of the diversity that prevailed in this region (The Economist, 2014). These various ethnicities and communities lived in peace prior to the Dutch role. However upon the exit of the Dutch, this peace was shattered. The main purpose of exerting control over Indonesia can best be explained by Immanuel Wallersteins world systems theory. It characterizes the world system as a set of mechanisms, which redistributes surplus value from the periphery to the core (Barfield, 1997). In the capitalist world system, the West makes up the core , while the regions of Aceh and West Papua make up the periphery . In these regions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A standard score is a scores that enables us to refer to the performance of an individual pupil in relation to the whole population where the mean is 100 and the standard deviation is usually 15. It also allows schools to base their assessments per school year. This is due to standarised scores taking into account the age of the pupil. A pupil in year 9 that has a date of birth of September would generally be expected to get a higher raw score than a pupil born in July, both pupils being in the same academic year. However, when calculating the standard score the age will be taken into account. This ensures that relevant interventions/arrangements can be put in place for pupils based on the standard score. 3. The Female And Female Relationship SOSC 1920 Male and Female Relationship Essay Cheryl Chi Yue Leung 214185045 Submitted to: Karen Ruddy Submitted date: March 10th, 2016 In our modern society, the mass media and popular culture have cooperative relationships between the dominant and subordinate group, thus the media tend to reinforce and highlight the values and images of those who create the messages and own the means of distribution. In doing so, Disney movies exhibit clear messages for children in general; what the media define as normal reinforces the stereotypes of gender, while intersectionality can challenge hegemonic ideas about gender by adding multiple different categories, It is clear that the themes and messages from Disney s popular animated films influence females perception of gender. Laura Sells (2016) suggested the Disney version of The Little Mermaid reinforces women s struggle to make sure they secure a place in a patriarchal society. The Disney rendition is an allegory for women trying to gain access to the male sphere society by sacrificing women s strength. On the other hand, I see The little Mermaid as also more liberatory because it contains the means of its own undoing in the camp character of Ursula the Sea Witch, and in Disney s compulsory happy ending which bestows the mermaid with both access and voice (2016, p.177), she explains Ariel transforms her fin to feet is the way to show the conflict for women finding her place in ... Someone who stays strong in their heart and shows selflessness towards others even though he or she could be in the risk of personal risk and danger is what makes a true hero. Anyone could be recognized and admired as a hero if they could, but there s a big gap in front of that because it adds on with the hero showing compassion in spite of the obstacles that they are faced with. It could make someone more heroic than he or she ever was by just showing selflessness to others. Clara Barton put herself in danger to treat the wounded during the Civil War and not only that, but she founded what is known today the American Red Cross (History.com). Harriet Tubman helped many slaves to freedom in the north, also placing herself in peril. (History.com). Florence Nightingale, who was a nursing innovator did the similar as Clara Barton, but during the Crimean War (History.com Biography.com). All of these women stressed the idea of helping others before they did so for themselves, but that took bravery to do so. Whether the challenges that a hero has to endure, a true hero puts others before themselves no matter what the position he or she is set in. In the Apology, Plato recounts the words given by Socrates during his trying in which he was sentenced to death. During the trial, Socrates defends himself on two charges, which are set in writing by Meletus, one of the prosecutors. The first set of charges Socrates refers to them as the first lying accusations , and are informal charges to set an image of who people believe Socrates to be. The second set makes up the formal accusations and the charges that they hope commit Socrates to death. The speech was given by Socrates to defend himself to the Athenian Council against chargers of corrupting the young, and by not believing in the gods the city believes that are in the novel. Although no such speech was recorded, with the idea that Plato was at the trial, we can conclude that the dialogue of the Apologia contains words as they were remembered by Plato. One point that I will be arguing in this paper will be that the report lacks an author and a publisher. Validity is not present in a report where the author and the publisher is missing. It makes us think that the information is unreliable, since it is unclear as to where it came from. The second point that I will be addressing is that I will discuss the importance of social media.
