I Married An Angel Mise En Scene
For this post, the first video I had chosen was Jeanette MacDonald and Binnie Barnes sang A Twinkle
in Her Eye in a 1942 musical film called I Married an Angel. By watching the clip only, I thought the
style of this recording was like an operetta. It had spoken parts to tell the light story. The sounds that
came out of the characters were very soft, even though the singing technique was more like the one
that was commonly used in operas, and the lyrics were pretty approachable. Also, I had noticed that
the acting in this piece, including dancing, was somewhat exaggerated. I considered that those
theatrical facial expressions and moves were expressed to aim to please the audiences.
The second video I had watched was Jerry Orbach led the original cast of the 1980 Broadway musical
42nd Street to perform Lullaby of Broadway on the Tony Awards. Clearly, there were more dancing
components involved in this show. The choreography was great because it could well coordinate with
the lyrics and the emotion of the characters, which allowed audiences to deeply engage in the show.
Also, the storyline was relatively clear, I could easily understand what was happening at that moment
without knowing the context. But I was shocked by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This show had a really bold subject matter which subverted the serious religious story and combined it
with the modern rock music. From one character performed as the Jesus and sang hysterically to
another one performed like a rock star in his own concert, the switch of scenes was pretty novel. It
was clear that there were a plenty of modern elements had been utilized in this show. Meanwhile, the
style of the stage performance was amazing because I did not feel uncomfortable or awkward even
though it was still a little bit exaggerated. In fact, I was pretty engaged in this recording when I

6-Year-Learning About Baseball Research Paper
When I started learning about baseball. I started studying the game the most in second grade during
the winter because, well, I wasn t outside practicing. It was simply too cold and it saddened me that I
simply couldn t play the game due to the weather outside. So I got online and went to MLB.com and I
started from the 1960 s the end of the baseball golden age. Which happened to be the end of the career
of my favorite baseball player of all time (Stan Musial). Which is why I started there. It seemed like
the perfect starting point. From then on I moved backward until I got to 1919 learned about the
Chicago Black Sox. This was a 6 year learning experience.
The 1919 Chicago White Sox were the best team in the year 1919. I learned that your ... Show more

August 7th, 1956 Mickey Mantle hit a ball to left field, the ball hit off the glove of Ted Williams,

The Winter was over and I was relieved because sitting in front of a computer monitor made me lay
my head down from extreme tiredness, moan of inaction and suffer to weather. The experience was
horrifying, but I knew it was very educational toward the game I favor the most. In all my days to

Ok. I listed a lot of things about baseball to get the point across. Especially because there is not much

Theme of Hardship in The Grapes of Wrath Essay
The Grapes of Wrath In the souls of the people, the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy,
growing heavy for the vintage. This quote explains the whole book. It shows the people fighting for
their lives from the many hardships they face. Also, it shows that there is ups and downs in life and
sometimes facing the wrath that life gives us. The first hardship in the book is when the Joads are
forced off their land. They have to overcome losing their home and basically their life. Also, the Joads
can relate to many people because the bank took over their life. ?The bank is something more than,it?s
the monster.? (33) This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They start to run low on money and need to leave the camp to find another job. ?Never worked so
hard in my life nor so long before.? (X) This quote explains how the Joads work. They work each of
their jobs as hard as they can and endure so much pain just to survive. The family doesn?t complain
when their working or what they don?t have, they take what they have and make it out as the best they
can. Towards the end of the book Rose of Sharon faces the worst hardship out of anyone. She has a
still born baby. This was the one thing in Rose of Sharon?s life she really wanted . The baby was the
reason she woke up in the morning and could live life. Being the strong willed woman Rose of Sharon
is she moves on with life. Then at the end of the book her motherly figure comes out when she suckles
the man back to health. When Casy is brutally murdered by the police officer it shows many
accusations. It shows back then police officers did not care about protecting people. They were cruel
people who cared about themselves. So that Casy?s life ended tragically, before he died he compared
himself to Jesus trying to find something. Even though he was bad with girls and gave up preaching he
was still connected with God. In

Sura 93 The Morning Hours Analysis
Sura 93, The Morning Hours, was a very interesting sura to me and held a lot of important
information. It starts out with verses one and two describing a type of hardship one may undergo
perhaps when one might feel alone as if no one is looking out for them or cares about them described
as the morning hours or when the night is still. Despite the hardship described, verse three acts as a
reminder that the Lord has not thrown you to the wolves leaving you to suffer and he isn t punishing
you or expressing hate for you. The writer then reassures the reader in verses four to six with the
promise that the Lord will give you even more than what you had before and you will be happy and
overall content. Verses seven through nine prompt the reader to remember what the Lord has done for
you in the past and how he has helped you when you were in need specifically orphaned, lost, and
hungry. In light of the theme of social justice, verses ten and eleven urge you to do unto others as the
Lord has done for you like giving to those in need, not oppressing others, helping the orphans in the
world, and when someone asks for help not turning your back on them. This sura ends with the
command to proclaim the grace of the Lord in verse twelve. In relation to the verse s message to
humanity, the first six verses focus on keeping the faith and having faith that the Lord has not
forgotten you in times of hardship and remember he will always provide for you just as he has done in
the past. This

Essay The Best Ferilizer to Grow Flowers the Quickest
I want to find out which fertilizer will grow healthy flowers from seeds quickly. Snapdragons are
perennial plants, which means they grow back again for several years. I found that snapdragons
(Antirrhinum majus) bloom in the cool temperatures of spring and early fall. Snapdragons first grew
in United States in the north east. Each state has a growth zone. Snapdragons do good in zones 6 10.
Central Florida is in growth zone 9. Snapdragons come in about 230 varieties! Snapdragons are very
bright and colorful, including yellow, pink, salmon, orange, purple, and lavender. Snapdragons have
vibrant green leaves and strong stems. Snapdragons can grow in containers like pots, or in open soil in
the garden. They can grow 1 5 feet in height ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people do this instead of creating waste, and throwing it in a garbage can. Also, earthworms till
(tunnel through), fertilize and improve soil. Earthworms are eating machines. They eat leaves and
remains of animals and then poop (castings) them out, Creating a good organic fertilizer. It helps the
root growth and improves the health of the flower. The worms stomach acids make nitrogen and
phosphorus ready for the plants to use for food. If the worms are cut in half they will not live but when
just their tails are cut off then a new one will grow back. When worms and bugs die in the garden their
bodies decompose and add nutrients to the soil. The worms stomach acids make nitrogen and
phosphorus ready for plant food. Worms breath through their skin so if it rains too much they have to
go to the surface for air or they will drown. Snapdragons can be grown from seeds and germination
(sprouting from a seed), can take up to 3 weeks. To plant the seeds sprinkle them on the soil and press
down lightly. Snapdragons can spread easily and make more plants. Snapdragons may attract aphids (a
small fat bodied insect), which may damage the stems and leaves. Also, snapdragons can get fungus so
it is important to water only at the base of the plant. If the plants don t have enough air circulation or
light, then powdery mildew can be seen growing on the leaves. Also, too much shade and not enough
sun can encourage mildew growth. Snapdragon

Comparison Of The Passage In Fasting Feasting, By Anita Desai
The passage in Fasting, Feasting, by Anita Desai, Arun is out of his comfort zone going to the beach.
Arun from the very start, starts making excuses to not go to the beach. He also, does not want to be
anywhere close to Melanie While they walk to the beach. He complains about the noises of the
wilderness and how horrible they are. He does these things because he does not feel comfortable in
these places he has never been before. He talks about how his hands are sweaty and his hair on his
neck raises. He also, wonders why people live in such close area to the wilderness. The story says The
town may be small and have little to offer, but how passionately he prefers its post office, its shops, its
dry cleaning stores and picture framers to this creeping curtain of insidious green...(Desai). This
complaining about the wilderness is most likely due to the fact that he has most likely stayed in town
most of his stay in America. He has adapted to the town he has probably only really seen. 2.
The passage from Last Child in the Woods by Richard Louv, he uses many examples to prove his
argument that we are separating from nature. He starts it off by talking about how they soon will be
able to decide the color on butterfly s wings and how they can use nature to advertise. The Nature we
all go visit is not real nature it s advertised and is not worth going to. They use parks and beaches to
get there product out there just for some money to keep the area clean and well kept. It leads into
talking about how we she nature from inside a car most of the time not in person. It talks about how
now we don t even need to pay attention to the nature now because we have gps that guide us to our
destination so we don t need to memorize routes. Even people in the back seat don t have to pay
attention anymore as tvs are now in cars to either watch movies or play games. It says Perhaps we ll
someday tell our grandchildren stories...We actually looked out the car window(Louv). This is a little
stretched because most likely kids will still look out the windows when they don t have a movie
playing or they are bored of what they were doing beforehand. 3.

Abstract
Introduction: Worldwide emergence and spread of antimalarial resistance has led to use of molecular
markers in monitoring of resistant plasmodium parasite. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the K13
propellor domain have been recently associated with artemisinin resistance. This study aims at
profiling K13 molecular markers related to reduced susceptibility to Artemether Lumefantrine in
parasite isolates from Msambweni coastal region, Kenya. Methods: Chelex method was used for
extracting DNA from Plasmodium falciparum positive dried blood spots on filter paper samples.
Polymerase chain reaction and sequencing technique was used to detect single nucleotide
polymorphism in K13 propeller gene. MEGA 6 was used to identify specific SNP combinations using
wild type reference sequence (XM_001350122).
Results: A total 150 samples were collected from malaria infected patients in

Labeling Theory of Deviance
The Labeling Theory also referred to as Social Reaction Theory asserts that crime is a label attached
to wrongdoing, and often the label becomes a stigma that increases criminality. The Labeling Theory
became most dominant between the early 1960s and the late 1970s. The labeling theory says that
deviant individuals are deviant mainly because they are seen deviant by society; individuals who are
labeled as deviant may be likely to reject themselves and act deviantly because of the label. Labeled
individuals could include prostitutes, former criminals, nerds, alcoholics, etc. The labeling process can
be simplified into six steps: initial criminal act, detection by the justice system, decision to label,
creation of a new identity, acceptance of labels, and deviance amplification. Individuals who are used
to being labeled negatively have low self esteem and are more likely to separate themselves from
others; they may also act deviant as a result of the label. When someone is labeled by society it makes
it difficult to return to label that they once had. Their identity is tampered and changed. Labeling can
have a terrible effect on the lives of people and it is a social problem within society. (Hagan 2013) J
Berburg states that the labeling of society can lead to them developing a career of a delinquent. After
the crime is committed they are forever deemed a criminal; this is telling society that once they do
something wrong they are not allowed to change. Scholars suggest

Who Is Marvin Gaye What s Going On
MARVIN GAYE WHAT S GOING ON
Marvin Gaye s Style of Music:
Marvin Gaye was a musical genius and inspiration to individuals like myself. According to the
website Marvin Gaye (2015), Marvin Gaye was a Motown soul singer songwriter from the 1960s to
the 1970s, who often addressed themes of controversy. The genre of music Mr. Gaye created was
Protest R B, for example his song What s Going On.
Characteristics that sets Marvin Gaye Apart from Popular Recordings:
What set Mr. Gaye apart from other popular recordings of the time was that his controversial style
pays off big with his song What s Going On. Mr. Gaye was inspired by the politics and violence of the
Vietnam War, which he and Motown did not see eye to eye, however the single was released in 1971
and became a hit (Marvin Gaye, 2015). Proving that Mr. Gaye did not fear to take risks, to speak out
and be heard. Furthermore, Mr. Gaye wrote his lyrics and produced on the album, which also opens
himself up to a new audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hearing the genuine power in his voice whether on simple ballets or protest songs was more than just
words, it was a voice to those who could not stand up for themselves or who were scared. A lot of

direction of a song.

Was Miep Gies A Hero
Have you heard of Miep Gies? Do you know what she did during the Holocaust? Miep Gies is
considered a hero. She had a hard time as a young child. Even when her life was not going right she
still saw the need to help people. Gies did not see them as any different than she was. When she
helped people she saw them as her friends. Helping people was just human nature to her. Mrs. Gies

was born on February 15, 1909. Her hometown was Vienna, Austria. There was a lack of food in her

annex. Mrs. Gies, along with her husband, helped bring the ones in hiding food, books, and news from

were discovered because someone betrayed them, and it is still unknown who betrayed them. They
were all taken to concentration camps. They came up with a crazy plan to try and get the group freed.
She gathered as much money as she could find and went down to the police headquarters. The plan
was to bribe the officers to release the group. It was too late. The group was already gone ( Miep Gies,

The Ethics Of Reproduction
This post was very intriguing and informative about the views you have on this topic. I do believe that
people desire without fully understanding what desire is or how they came to that conclusion. People
do learn how to comprehend everything, from the moment we were born, the new world and people
become the basis of our learning and comprehension. The child looks around and learn all about the
surrounding, then soaking it in like a sponge, just to understand the world we live in today. The need
to protect is something that people feel throughout their lives, especially their families. Maslow had a
great idea about the limits of humans, but only on some physical needs, such as reproduction and the
need to stay busy. Reproduction is a need that

Importance Of My High School Football Team
A High School Football Team is a community of students selected to play together in the school team
where all the students have the fair opportunity to join the team. There will be a lot of students in the
team including a student from different cultures. I was one of students who joined the football team in
high school. As a Nepali refugee who had never heard of football until he came to America, the
transition to play for my school team was not easy. I entered a discourse community of my High
School Football Team by developing my knowledge about football, communicating, and making
friends with team members from different culture and social group. My journey to the school team
was hard, but it was worth. I became part of a football team because students are taught to be
responsible and mature in the team. Joining a football team was a great opportunity for me to make a
lifelong friendship with other players learning about leadership, communicating, and working with a
team. Just like other players, I played with a hope of getting a scholarship for college. I began with
desired to become a true member of this community, but I was so determined that I end up leading a
team by becoming a team captain. Therefore, it is important for everybody to learn the experiences of
others because there might be somebody out there who wants to be part of any team, but maybe they
are afraid to step up to join that team thinking he or she is different among all. It doesn t matter who

Inequality Between Societies Within New Zealand
Inequality between societies within New Zealand. The facts of how the societies in New Zealand, has

political. Difference of inequality occurs in societies, how it has been treated the societies unequal in
many ways. The characteristics affected or can affect the societies to inequality from five factors
within poor health, obesity, lifestyles, communities, belief, government promises not honoured.
Income inequality has been a crisis to New Zealanders in the last few years, and it has grown fast
which affected a large number of people in New Zealand. According to UMR, (2013) online survey, it
shows a high number of fifty percentage New Zealanders, are very concerned for the growing

Pacific disabled people in New Zealand have struggled in getting access into public, due to living in
low income. Obesity in baby or in childhood has been a crisis in New Zealand and mainly with the

AIM: To investigate if momentum is conserved in two dimensional interactions within an isolated
system.
HYPOTHESIS: Without the effects of friction the momentum will be conserved in the isolated
system. In all three experiments the momentum before the interaction will equal the momentum after
the interaction.
METHOD: An air hockey table was set up and a video camera on a tripod was placed over the air
hockey table. The camera was positioned so it was directly above the air hockey table facing
downwards. The air hockey table was turned on and two near identical pucks were placed on the table,

This would have created friction which is regarded as an external force; therefore the pucks were no
longer in an isolated system. Another random error occurred in the first experiment where the red puck
was initially held down to prevent it from moving and released when the black puck collided with it.
Due to the person s reaction time, holding it in place may have interfered with the collision as it was
an external force and this may have impacted upon the results.
Several systematic occurred in this experiment, but the most important one would have been the fact
that the air hockey table was not completely level. This impacted upon the experiment in two ways. In
the first experiment where the red puck is initially stationary, as the table was not level it moved
around before the black puck collided with it. To overcome this the red puck had to be held in place
and as mentioned before this would have provided and external force acting upon the puck. The
unevenness of the air hockey table also meant that there was a possibility of friction acting on the
pucks while they were moving. In the third collision with the Velcro another systematic error
occurred. When the two pucks collided and stuck together they did not continue straight, instead they
rotated. This is not linear momentum but rather it is angular momentum. This is reflected in the results
as the magnitude of the initial and final momentum of the system is equal, but the

Caged Bird Persuasive Essay
Be brave; Rise above failure Being brave is knowing that when you fail, you don t fail forever. Lana
Del Rey Being brave when you know you might fail might be considered winning in its own way. Is
being brave standing up to that bully or is being brave as simple as talking to your crush? When you
fail on something you have to rise above it and look on the brighter side. Is failure something to frown
upon or is it something to rise against? Maybe failure is not getting a perfect score on a test or maybe
it s not winning that big game. Whatever your definition of failure is just remember that us as humans
make mistakes but we can learn from them. In Maya Angelou s poem Caged Bird she shows how the
free bird was brave enough to become free and how the caged bird has failed to become free. In
Langston Hughes poem Mother to Son he shows how the past affected the mother and she s telling her
son to be brave enough and strive for the best. In Robert Frost s poem The Road Not Taken he shows
how difficult it is to choose what path to take for the future. Though we make mistakes and fail we can
rise above them and set goals for our future. In Maya Angelou s poem Caged Bird she shows that the
free bird was brave enough to become free and soar through the sky but she also shows how the caged
bird fails to become free because it just sits and waits. Though the free bird is free how did it become
free? The free bird most likely made mistakes but that didn t stop it from achieving its goal of
becoming free. In stanza 1 it states A free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till
the current ends and dips his wing in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky . This shows that
the free bird is brave and daring to claim the sky. When free bird dares to claim the sky shows that at
first it was hesitant to go into the sky but then it stood up and became brave and soared. In stanza 5 it
states But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his
wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing . This shows that the caged bird
wants to be heard and be set free but to be free it has to untie its feet which most likely refers to how it

Dracula, however for such a small area of land, its at times cloudy history with it blends the beautiful
Carpathian landscape creating a feeling of enchantment when gazing up pictures of Transylvania.
Besides for my grandparents being born in Transylvania, I have always been intrigued by its rough yet
resilient history. Its cultural history consists of multiple heritages due to its geographic location
through time. Its important to remember that for centuries, despite being a small area, the area of
Transylvania has always been extremely divers. From the beginning of written history up until post

The Doctrine Of The Separation Of Power
Plan
In this essay I will be explaining how the doctrine of the separation of powers has been compromised
to a less extent in the nation like Australia. The first section will constitute in exploring the history and
the significance of the separation of the power doctrine. In the second section I will discuss about the
compromise of the doctrine, especially between the administrator and the legislature with some good
cases held in high court. Besides, some clarification will be provided to explain how the philosophical
system of separation of power is being compromised. This estimate will be supported by the depth
psychology of several examples and articles where the doctrine has been compromised concluding
that the total separation of the power is merely a myth but as well in spite of that the doctrine protects
the individual rights.
Information will be gathered from legitimate sources as reflected in the references so as to approach
this essay in an academic way. I have segmented my work over 3 weeks, commencing my research
work and preparing my plan on week5, gathering relevant cases and information from books, articles
and also from web during week6 and starting my essay on week7 so that it will be finished on time.

It is well known that the Separation of Powers doctrine is sine qua non for maintaining the rule of law
however, an absolute separation of power does not exist in the Australian legal system.

Feral Hogs Research Paper
Feral Hogs and the Health Risks to Hunters
One of the most destructive and invasive species in the United States today is feral hogs. Experts
believe that there are over six million feral hogs spread across 41 different states as of 2012. Feral
hogs pose problems on several different fronts. Not only do they cause widespread damage to
farmland and ecosystems, they outcompete native wildlife for food and have been known to prey on
young livestock. Feral hogs also present health concerns, as they can be a vector for diseases in
commercial swine operations, native species, and humans.
A means of population control was needed for places where feral hogs are widespread. In recent years
feral hog hunting has seen its popularity rise for this very reason and is indorsed by wildlife agencies

It is spread from hog to hog via birthing fluids and semen. When a feral hog is infected with
brucellosis, it is carrier for brucellosis for the remainder of its life. The highest risk of zoonotic
transmission of brucellosis to hunters comes when field dressing an infected hog. If blood, fluid, or
tissue of an infected hog comes in to contact with the hunter s eyes, mouth, or on to a cut or open part
of their skin, they are at a high risk of becoming infected. Since many hogs will show no clinical signs
of brucellosis when infected, it is important to practice good safety techniques when field dressing any
hog. Make sure to wear proper eye protection along with latex or rubber gloves when field dressing
hogs. Also avoid any direct contact (bare skin) with any fluids or organs from a feral hog. Once you
are done field dressing your hog, be sure to wash your hands as soon as possible with warm water and
soap for at least 20 seconds. Dry your hands with a clean towel or paper towels. Also be sure to

Effects Of The Civil Rights Movement
The Civil Rights Movement caused conflict after African Americans in Southern states were
mistreated and had very different rights as the white. Some of the inequalities that African Americans
had to face include the opportunities for housing, education and employment, the right to vote, and
discrimination in several public places. This also gave the Supreme Court a new aspect since
discrimination and segregation were legal. With a great leader such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
protesting for equal rights, the African Americas were successful at getting the same rights as
everyone else and the right to vote. The Civil Rights Movement was a success and nothing would

In 1941 A. Philip Randolph was going to lead an all black march on Washington unless President
Franklin D. Roosevelt did something in respect to ending racial discrimination. Roosevelt did not
want the march to be successful and become a bigger problem so he agreed to a Fair Employment
Practices Committee. Movements kept growing and were becoming more popular as African
Americans from the South tried to increase black voting strength that even soldiers were returning
home to fight this racism. Activists were trying to end school segregation as well. The protestors were
risking everything since homes were burned and churches as well. At this point everyone s goal was to
at least have equality between black and white schools instead of racial integration. In 1950 NAACP
decided to take everything to the court and fight for what they believed in. Brown V. Board of

segregation against attack as being violative of a State constitutional guarantee of equality (Primary

Rosa Parks, Nixon, and NAACP were part of this boycott that later became well known in
Montgomery. This Montgomery movement was then leaded by Martin Luther King Jr. who created his

The Effects Of Melanoma On The Integumentary System Essay
Integumentary System The Integumentary system is defined as an organ system consisting in the skin,
hair, nails, and exocrine glands (Integumentary System, 1999). This systems main purpose is to
protect the body from the environment around it. The skin covers and protects tissues, nerves, veins,
and muscles of the body. The hair and nails give extra strength in reinforcing the skin while keeping
the body warm and protecting the skin from harmful UV rays. The exocrine glands of the skin include
the sudoriferous glands, sebaceous glands, and the ceruminous glands. Each exocrine gland has a
different function as well as location in the skin. The following text will explain the effects of
melanoma on the integumentary system.
Skin
The skin is divided into three different parts including the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis. The
epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin. This region of the skin has no blood cells or blood vessels
running through it. All of the nutrients that the epidermis needs are received through diffusion from
the dermis. The epidermis is made up of stratified squamous epithelial cells. The epidermis is made of
five separate layers: the stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, and
the stratum corneum. Starting at the innermost layer, the stratum basale is where mitosis of
keratinocytes takes place. This layer of the epidermis also contains melanocytes which give the skin it
s pigment. As mitosis takes place in the stratum

The Development of Fast Food
The development of fast food was revolutionary; however, this revolution was corrupted by big
business and the desire to maximize profit. With fast food as a staple for society, due to its
convenience, the consumer fails to realize what is inside the burger they are eating. The customers are
eating foods which are filled with additives such as cellulose and L cysteine. Additives are good for
the bottom line, but bad for the well being of the consumer. Cost effective additives may be justifiable
from a businessman s perspective, but what about the consumer? Cellulose, better known as wood
pulp, doesn t come to mind as millions of uninformed customers chow down on their McNuggets.
This additive is not simply pieces of tree bark cleverly hidden within fast food. Instead, it is a paste or
powder (FoodBabe). Wood pulp is added to fast foods because of its caloric value of zero. With the
absence of calories, food containing cellulose provides no nutritional value besides giving consumers
that satisfying, full feeling. According to the FDA, cellulose consumption by humans, regardless of
the amount, has no effect other than providing dietary bulk, reducing nutritive value of such food
stuffs and possibly exerting a laxative effect (FDA). Many abusers of this filler include McDonalds,
Taco Bell, Jack in the Box, Wendy s, Arby s, and Sonic. In this caloric conscious world, is it really the
company s fault for filling products with additives which have little caloric value, or

The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene
Throughout the novel The Power and the Glory, the main character, The Whiskey Priest is portrayed
as a morally ambiguous character. He lies, he drinks, and has sexual relationships with a woman. As a
result he fathers and meets his daughter, and he learns a sense of obligation. His natural instinct to
protect her becomes evident. Just as he wants to help his daughter, he also helps a child in need who s
mother is sick. As a result, the priest ends up missing his boat, preventing him from escaping from the
law who is chasing him. In the novel, The Power and the Glory, author Graham Greene portrays the
protagonist, The Whiskey Priest as both a good man and a bad man.
The Whiskey Priest is full of flaws and is aware he is not always a good man. He has sexual relations
with a woman, he lies, and drinks throughout the entire novel. As an example, the Whiskey Priest is
on the run throughout the novel and has many different things on his mind all at one time, yet he
always seems to have time to drink. The character of the Lieutenant chases the priest the entire book,
and the priest is constantly looking over his shoulder wondering if he will be caught. At one point in
the story the priest looks around for wine, so he can say mass. He finds it in a bar and inevitably while

Summary Of The Feminine Mystique
In the The Feminine Mystique, by Betty Friedan, the author begins to question the problem that has no
name, which is, Why are American housewives so unhappy with their supposedly perfect lives ?
Friedan concludes that the reason American housewives are so depressed is that of, the feminine
mystique, society s idea that women s sole purpose in life is to bring pleasure to a man, be a housewife
and mother, but nothing more. In the 50 s and 60 s, all American women had been told their whole
lives is that they shouldn t get a job or follow their dreams, but find a well off husband and start a
family. Now that they have accomplished this, women want more in life than just waiting on their
family, because of the feeling that they are just going through the motions of life. However, society
does not allow women to grow to their full potential and brainwashes the mystique into women s
heads by painting the housewife image as an ideal in women s magazines, ads, signs, etc.
Furthermore, because the mystique is so influential, women not only damage themselves, but their
husbands and children; Women begin to seek their fulfillment through too much sexual intercourse,
which drives the husband away, and is so involved in their children s lives, that they grow up to be
whiny, mother dependent adults. In the end, women finally begin to not only question the feminine
mystique but act against it. Moreover, throughout the story, Friedan s style uses conflict development

The Repercussions Of Feminism
G.D. Anderson once said that, Feminism isn t about making women strong. Women are already strong.
It s about changing the way the world perceives that strength. The idea of feminism is one that has
evolved significantly throughout history; from suffrage rights to feminist campaigns, different
historical periods have different legacies in the development of feminism. When reflecting on various
historical time periods, there have been several distinct legacies, all of which have had a lasting
impact on society in both the past and the present. During the Romantic Era in particular, the ideas of
feminism started to blossom within the common people. The once taboo notions of women s rights
and gender equality were slowly becoming more prevalent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The atmosphere of the Romantic era, which was vibrating with ideas focusing around individual
liberty, was an ideal opportunity for feminists to advance the thought of women being perceived as
equals in society. Advocates for women s rights attempted to further their goals by arguing that
equality should be a logical extension of liberty. If individual liberty was considered a human right,
then it should therefore also apply to women in order to be correct; to them it seemed undeniable that
the term individual included all individuals, regardless of race, gender, or religion. Concerning this
issue, Mary Wollstonecraft further inquired if it was, not inconsistent and unjust to subjugate women,
even though you firmly believe that you are acting in the manner best calculated to promote their
happiness? Who made man the exclusive judge, if women partake with him the gift of reason? In this
statement, Mary is bringing to light the fact that women were not allowed to make decisions about
their own lives due to the excessive power that was held by those surrounding them. This relates back
to the argument of individual liberties extending to women; women were barred from being
independent and giving importance to their own personal interests, which in fact, was a leading idea in
a movement of that time, individualism. It is certain that

The Impact Of Immigration On The Us Economy
The number of immigrants entering the United States legally is greater today than it was at the turn of

years. This made me think about Immigration and the US economy on a same page in my mind. Many
questions started populating in my head such as Does immigration in some way affect the US
economy? If yes, how? After doing some research, I found that Immigration plays an important role in
the US economy. I ll start with my own background, how this question is connected to me and what
other people think about immigration. Next, I ll talk about my research findings and the unexpected
answers I got to my question. Are those answers same as people s view. As a final point, I ll talk about
what I learned in the process of researching the impact of immigration on the US economy before
concluding my essay.
Background:
I, myself is an immigrant and I know the struggle it takes to immigrate to the other country. Presently,
when we talk about immigrants, the few things that comes in our mind are terrorism, illegal
immigrants and they are the people who steal our jobs. Is that the real meaning of immigrants? The
point where this issue strikes me was, Does Immigration have only negative impacts on the US
economy? Why does media always portray immigration as a bad thing for the US economy? We often
believe things in a way in which media wants us to. Between 2000 and 2012, there was a

Nursing And Electronic Medical Records
Nursing and Electronic Medical Records Thomas Stinde April 28, 2016 Coconino Community
College Nursing and Electronic Medical Records In our society today, we have a broad range of
computer technology for our use. This technology in the nursing field is called informatics.
Informatics is defined as a combination of computer science, information science, and nursing science
designed to assist in the management and processing of nursing data, information, and the knowledge
to support the practice of nursing and the delivery of nursing care (Thede, 1). Nearly anywhere we go,
and whatever career we choose we all need to have basic computer skills. Computers are used in the
health care profession due to an increase of productivity they can provide, therefore allowing for
better patient care. Computers also allow for hospitals, doctor s offices, and other healthcare facilities
to change over to and begin keeping electronic medical records (EMR). An EMR has the medical
information that the doctors and nurses obtain when you have an office visit. The patient s paper
medical record is put into an EMR program is basically made into a digital version of that patient s
medical information. The patient s healthcare provider can then use these EMRs for diagnoses and
treatment. There can be advantages and disadvantages for healthcare providers to transition to an
EMR system, and those providers will have to decide which one will outweigh the other. Discussion

Taking a Look at Facebook and Linkedin
The social networking service, Facebook, was created by Mark Zuckerberg with his college
roommate, who both attended Harvard University, and launched Facebook in February 2004 (Phillips,
2007). Once the social networking sight went viral, the website s membership was no longer limited to
Harvard students college students from the rest of the United States and Canada soon started to use the
social media service (History of Facebook, 2014). Facebook has become so popular and globally
spread, that it is now being used by individuals and businesses worldwide. Mark Zuckerberg stated
that the core idea of Facebook was to create a platform for people to share and connect with others
who are prevalent in one s life (Our Community to the Facebook Community, 2011). Facebook has
created a borderless world and civilians can connect with friends and family who are dispersed all
over the world. Publicising one s life on the internet is risky, and has lead the Facebook team to create
privacy settings to limit others access to the user s information. Facebook wanted to ensure that users
would feel comfortable to share moments and events about their real lives without being fearful of
unwanted individuals viewing this information (Knibbs, 2014). This defining fact gave way to
individuals, for the first time, having tools that they can use to broadcast their lives and connect with
others. With this new found knowledge that the social media website could be used to communicate

SUMMARY
While discussing the topics of trade, development and political economy, globalization is often
discussed. In general, globalization means a process in which world economies become highly
integrated, leading to a global economy and highly global economic policymaking, through
international agencies such as the World Trade Organization (Todaro Smith, 2006).

Ibbott (2007) explained what really globalization means as A global company is one that permits its
local operations to act in the image of the market locally and yet can act in a truly homogeneous way
with respect to the supply and provision of its core products and services
Vodafone is a global company as its sourcing and supply chain activities are transferred to be entirely
global for the major part of its investment, while services remain local (Ibbott, 2007). Globalization
does not mean to open operations and branches in other countries but to make its operations global,
not directed by the head office located in the parent country.
CONSEQUENCES OF GLOBALIZATION ON TELECOMMUNICATION INDUSTRY CASE OF
VODAFONE
Globalization has become a vital aspect of the global economy and strongly influences the
comparative advantage of economies. (Salvatore, 2004) examined the effect of globalization on the
comparative advantage of Europe for several goods and concluded that Europe has a comparative
disadvantage in telecommunication with respect to Japan, United States and Dynamic Asian countries.
The degree of globalization is a significant element in examining the international competitiveness of
economies.

J.K. Rowling in the Macabre Genre The life of experiences of J.K. Rowling influenced her to write in
the macabre genre. After Rowling s tragic loss, the world of Harry Potter did not turn out to be a
refuge from [her] pain but a place for her to experience it in a different way (Bradley 35). Rowling
suffered a life of poverty and losses that caused her to write literature in the macabre genre which
impacted the society greatly. Rowling s life as an adult was filled with the frustration of financial
hardships and love. Eventually marrying him, but ending in a brutal divorce, in March 1992, during
such an outing at a bar named Meia Cava, Rowling was introduced to a young journalism student
named Jorge Arantes (Teaching in Portugal and First Marriage 1). The couple had several fights when

Smooth Muscle Cell Contraction Lab Report
Contractility of ASM requires an increased levels of intracellular Ca2+. When surface receptors are
not activated, Ca2+ levels are low. Upon activation of these cell surface receptors by contractile
agonists e.g. acetylcholine, serotonin and histamine, intracellular Ca2+ increases causing a contraction
(9). Smooth muscle cell contraction is controlled by both receptor and mechanical activation of
proteins actin and myosin and also changes to membrane potential.
Ca2+ dependant contraction of smooth muscle mechanism
When a stimulus is applied to smooth muscle, it causes an action potential, depolarizing the plasma
membrane. Voltage gated calcium channels open allowing calcium into the cell. This increases
calcium levels in smooth muscle cells.

Laramie Project Analysis
The murder of Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming, was a shocking event that was on the
headlines of news stories across the country because of the homophobic intentions. By using verbatim
theatre, The Laramie Project by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theatre Project

Laramie, Wyoming. The University Theatre production of The Laramie Project was directed by Drew

Although I did not have to input different changes like I had to during tech week, I did have to pay
attention and fulfill my other responsibilities that come along with being the lighting board operator.
One of the most nerve wracking aspects that came along with the responsibilities of being the lighting
board operator was that before every show, I had to perform a channel check and make sure that every
single light used in the show was working and check to see if any of the gels had to be replaced. As I
mentioned earlier, I had little experience with lighting, so it was always difficult for me to be
absolutely sure that everything was in check. I had a constant fear of not checking one of the lights
correctly, which would cause at least one moment in the show to not appear exactly how the lighting
designer envisioned it would be. Luckily, nothing to that degree ever occurred during the whole
process of the production and from where I was sitting, the lighting appeared to be as it was supposed
to be. One of the most difficult cues to initiate was the lighting cue that started the follow cues for the
moment, Gem City . The stage manager called the lighting and sound cues for Gem City at the same
time and the lighting designer also made each follow cue a very specific amount of time in order to
properly align with the sound of the static noise. If I pressed the go button even

The Environmental Policy Paradox Analysis
In reference to your opening paragraph, the author of the textbook, The Environmental Policy
Paradox, wrote that the problems policy makers and environmentalists face are economic and
political. And this is also similar to what have discussed in class so far in regards to environmental
regulations. Now you made a strong argument that If American business is the engine of growth that
our politicians make it out to be, why can t we find new ways to do things that save money, cut
pollution, and make our companies more competitive, this question can spark a heated debate that
might probably have no end, most especially when you have a country that is governed by, technically,
two party system (Republicans and Democrats). Saying that many Republicans

Essay On Iran Election
In the spring of 2017, Iranian voters found themselves in a position of fear and excitement fear for the
future of Iran s economy and domestic and international affairs, and excitement about the positive
direction in which new leadership may take the country. This presidential election was a regularly
scheduled election, featuring all the traditional processes of Iranian presidential elections. During this
time, Iran was at a critical point domestically and internationally, with the fate of the Iranian economy
and the nuclear deal of 2015 on the line. Despite the improvements there have been in Iran s economic

Rouhani ran with the promise of strengthening civil society, improving Iran s foreign relations, and
economic issues, and upholding the nuclear deal. As president, Rouhani made a nuclear deal with the
United Kingdom, Russia, France, China and the European Union to limit Iran s nuclear ability in
exchange for lifts of financial and international sanctions (TheNewYorkTimes).
Rouhani believed that the nuclear deal would improve the Iranian economy, by reopening it to foreign
investment, and improve Iran s relationship with the international community. However, the rich
economic promises Rouhani said the nuclear deal would bring, as well as those he had made in his
campaign for the presidency in 2013, were not completely fulfilled come 2017. Rouhani s failure to
fulfill all his promises provided voters with a reason to be disappointed, and maybe look at other
candidates, as well as a reason to look forward to potential enhancements to the progress made during
Rouhani s first term, if re elected. Since the Rouhani took office in 2013, Inflation is no longer in the
double digits, Iran s GDP has gone up by about 0.2%, and t (Heritage) (TradingEconomics). In his
campaign, Rouhani promised to uphold the nuclear deal, and took the weak economic growth, such as
the increase in the unemployment rate, and minor social improvements of Iran into account, and used
them to support his argument that the progress Iran has been made over the past four years can be
continued if voters

  • 2. I Married An Angel Mise En Scene For this post, the first video I had chosen was Jeanette MacDonald and Binnie Barnes sang A Twinkle in Her Eye in a 1942 musical film called I Married an Angel. By watching the clip only, I thought the style of this recording was like an operetta. It had spoken parts to tell the light story. The sounds that came out of the characters were very soft, even though the singing technique was more like the one that was commonly used in operas, and the lyrics were pretty approachable. Also, I had noticed that the acting in this piece, including dancing, was somewhat exaggerated. I considered that those theatrical facial expressions and moves were expressed to aim to please the audiences. The second video I had watched was Jerry Orbach led the original cast of the 1980 Broadway musical 42nd Street to perform Lullaby of Broadway on the Tony Awards. Clearly, there were more dancing components involved in this show. The choreography was great because it could well coordinate with the lyrics and the emotion of the characters, which allowed audiences to deeply engage in the show. Also, the storyline was relatively clear, I could easily understand what was happening at that moment without knowing the context. But I was shocked by the ... • 5. Sura 93 The Morning Hours Analysis Sura 93, The Morning Hours, was a very interesting sura to me and held a lot of important information. It starts out with verses one and two describing a type of hardship one may undergo perhaps when one might feel alone as if no one is looking out for them or cares about them described as the morning hours or when the night is still. Despite the hardship described, verse three acts as a reminder that the Lord has not thrown you to the wolves leaving you to suffer and he isn t punishing you or expressing hate for you. The writer then reassures the reader in verses four to six with the promise that the Lord will give you even more than what you had before and you will be happy and overall content. Verses seven through nine prompt the reader to remember what the Lord has done for you in the past and how he has helped you when you were in need specifically orphaned, lost, and hungry. In light of the theme of social justice, verses ten and eleven urge you to do unto others as the Lord has done for you like giving to those in need, not oppressing others, helping the orphans in the world, and when someone asks for help not turning your back on them. This sura ends with the command to proclaim the grace of the Lord in verse twelve. In relation to the verse s message to humanity, the first six verses focus on keeping the faith and having faith that the Lord has not forgotten you in times of hardship and remember he will always provide for you just as he has done in the past. Arun from the very start, starts making excuses to not go to the beach. He also, does not want to be anywhere close to Melanie While they walk to the beach. He complains about the noises of the wilderness and how horrible they are. He does these things because he does not feel comfortable in these places he has never been before. He talks about how his hands are sweaty and his hair on his neck raises. He also, wonders why people live in such close area to the wilderness. The story says The town may be small and have little to offer, but how passionately he prefers its post office, its shops, its dry cleaning stores and picture framers to this creeping curtain of insidious green...(Desai). This complaining about the wilderness is most likely due to the fact that he has most likely stayed in town most of his stay in America. He has adapted to the town he has probably only really seen. 2. The passage from Last Child in the Woods by Richard Louv, he uses many examples to prove his argument that we are separating from nature. He starts it off by talking about how they soon will be able to decide the color on butterfly s wings and how they can use nature to advertise. The Nature we all go visit is not real nature it s advertised and is not worth going to. They use parks and beaches to get there product out there just for some money to keep the area clean and well kept. It leads into talking about how we she nature from inside a car most of the time not in person. It talks about how now we don t even need to pay attention to the nature now because we have gps that guide us to our destination so we don t need to memorize routes. Even people in the back seat don t have to pay attention anymore as tvs are now in cars to either watch movies or play games. • 10. Labeling Theory of Deviance The Labeling Theory also referred to as Social Reaction Theory asserts that crime is a label attached to wrongdoing, and often the label becomes a stigma that increases criminality. The Labeling Theory became most dominant between the early 1960s and the late 1970s. The labeling theory says that deviant individuals are deviant mainly because they are seen deviant by society; individuals who are labeled as deviant may be likely to reject themselves and act deviantly because of the label. Labeled individuals could include prostitutes, former criminals, nerds, alcoholics, etc. The labeling process can be simplified into six steps: initial criminal act, detection by the justice system, decision to label, creation of a new identity, acceptance of labels, and deviance amplification. Individuals who are used to being labeled negatively have low self esteem and are more likely to separate themselves from others; they may also act deviant as a result of the label. When someone is labeled by society it makes it difficult to return to label that they once had. Their identity is tampered and changed. Labeling can have a terrible effect on the lives of people and it is a social problem within society. (Hagan 2013) J Berburg states that the labeling of society can lead to them developing a career of a delinquent. After the crime is committed they are forever deemed a criminal; this is telling society that once they do something wrong they are not allowed to change. Scholars suggest ... Another random error occurred in the first experiment where the red puck was initially held down to prevent it from moving and released when the black puck collided with it. Due to the person s reaction time, holding it in place may have interfered with the collision as it was an external force and this may have impacted upon the results. Several systematic occurred in this experiment, but the most important one would have been the fact that the air hockey table was not completely level. This impacted upon the experiment in two ways. In the first experiment where the red puck is initially stationary, as the table was not level it moved around before the black puck collided with it. To overcome this the red puck had to be held in place and as mentioned before this would have provided and external force acting upon the puck. The unevenness of the air hockey table also meant that there was a possibility of friction acting on the pucks while they were moving. In the third collision with the Velcro another systematic error occurred. When the two pucks collided and stuck together they did not continue straight, instead they rotated. • 19. Caged Bird Persuasive Essay Be brave; Rise above failure Being brave is knowing that when you fail, you don t fail forever. Lana Del Rey Being brave when you know you might fail might be considered winning in its own way. Is being brave standing up to that bully or is being brave as simple as talking to your crush? When you fail on something you have to rise above it and look on the brighter side. Is failure something to frown upon or is it something to rise against? Maybe failure is not getting a perfect score on a test or maybe it s not winning that big game. Whatever your definition of failure is just remember that us as humans make mistakes but we can learn from them. In Maya Angelou s poem Caged Bird she shows how the free bird was brave enough to become free and how the caged bird has failed to become free. In Langston Hughes poem Mother to Son he shows how the past affected the mother and she s telling her son to be brave enough and strive for the best. In Robert Frost s poem The Road Not Taken he shows how difficult it is to choose what path to take for the future. Though we make mistakes and fail we can rise above them and set goals for our future. In Maya Angelou s poem Caged Bird she shows that the free bird was brave enough to become free and soar through the sky but she also shows how the caged bird fails to become free because it just sits and waits. Though the free bird is free how did it become free? The free bird most likely made mistakes but that didn t stop it from achieving its goal of becoming free. In stanza 1 it states A free bird leaps on the back of the wind and floats downstream till the current ends and dips his wing in the orange sun rays and dares to claim the sky . This shows that the free bird is brave and daring to claim the sky. When free bird dares to claim the sky shows that at first it was hesitant to go into the sky but then it stood up and became brave and soared. In stanza 5 it states But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing . This shows that the caged bird wants to be heard and be set free but to be free it has to untie its feet which most likely refers to how it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With fast food as a staple for society, due to its convenience, the consumer fails to realize what is inside the burger they are eating. The customers are eating foods which are filled with additives such as cellulose and L cysteine. Additives are good for the bottom line, but bad for the well being of the consumer. Cost effective additives may be justifiable from a businessman s perspective, but what about the consumer? Cellulose, better known as wood pulp, doesn t come to mind as millions of uninformed customers chow down on their McNuggets. This additive is not simply pieces of tree bark cleverly hidden within fast food. Instead, it is a paste or powder (FoodBabe). Wood pulp is added to fast foods because of its caloric value of zero. With the absence of calories, food containing cellulose provides no nutritional value besides giving consumers that satisfying, full feeling. According to the FDA, cellulose consumption by humans, regardless of the amount, has no effect other than providing dietary bulk, reducing nutritive value of such food stuffs and possibly exerting a laxative effect (FDA). • 32. Summary Of The Feminine Mystique In the The Feminine Mystique, by Betty Friedan, the author begins to question the problem that has no name, which is, Why are American housewives so unhappy with their supposedly perfect lives ? Friedan concludes that the reason American housewives are so depressed is that of, the feminine mystique, society s idea that women s sole purpose in life is to bring pleasure to a man, be a housewife and mother, but nothing more. In the 50 s and 60 s, all American women had been told their whole lives is that they shouldn t get a job or follow their dreams, but find a well off husband and start a family. Now that they have accomplished this, women want more in life than just waiting on their family, because of the feeling that they are just going through the motions of life. However, society does not allow women to grow to their full potential and brainwashes the mystique into women s heads by painting the housewife image as an ideal in women s magazines, ads, signs, etc. Furthermore, because the mystique is so influential, women not only damage themselves, but their husbands and children; Women begin to seek their fulfillment through too much sexual intercourse, which drives the husband away, and is so involved in their children s lives, that they grow up to be whiny, mother dependent adults. In the end, women finally begin to not only question the feminine mystique but act against it. Moreover, throughout the story, Friedan s style uses conflict development and ... When reflecting on various historical time periods, there have been several distinct legacies, all of which have had a lasting impact on society in both the past and the present. The atmosphere of the Romantic era, which was vibrating with ideas focusing around individual liberty, was an ideal opportunity for feminists to advance the thought of women being perceived as equals in society. Advocates for women s rights attempted to further their goals by arguing that equality should be a logical extension of liberty. If individual liberty was considered a human right, then it should therefore also apply to women in order to be correct; to them it seemed undeniable that the term individual included all individuals, regardless of race, gender, or religion. Concerning this issue, Mary Wollstonecraft further inquired if it was, not inconsistent and unjust to subjugate women, even though you firmly believe that you are acting in the manner best calculated to promote their happiness? Who made man the exclusive judge, if women partake with him the gift of reason? In this statement, Mary is bringing to light the fact that women were not allowed to make decisions about their own lives due to the excessive power that was held by those surrounding them. This relates back to the argument of individual liberties extending to women; women were barred from being independent and giving importance to their own personal interests, which in fact, was a leading idea in a movement of that time, individualism. As I mentioned earlier, I had little experience with lighting, so it was always difficult for me to be absolutely sure that everything was in check. Luckily, nothing to that degree ever occurred during the whole process of the production and from where I was sitting, the lighting appeared to be as it was supposed to be. One of the most difficult cues to initiate was the lighting cue that started the follow cues for the moment, Gem City . The stage manager called the lighting and sound cues for Gem City at the same time and the lighting designer also made each follow cue a very specific amount of time in order to properly align with the sound of the static noise. If I pressed the go button even ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
