Compare And Contrast Gandhi And Malcolm X
The famous Mahatma Gandhi and Malcolm X left behind legacies that still influence the world today.
One of the major factors that impacted these two historical figures was religion. The characteristics of
Hinduism definitely had an effect on Gandhi s peaceful and nonviolent views, just like the Islamic
religion guided Malcolm X s beliefs of by any means necessary. Their religious affiliations were not
only deciding factors in their lives, but also played a key part in their deaths Gandhi s Hinduism and
Malcolm X s Islamic beliefs share some similar views and many vastly diverse ones. Both believe in
one Supreme Being or one true God and in divine beings or angels that help promote the will of this
Deity. This is one of the few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These churches never left much of a lasting impression and caused him to have little respect for
anything representing religion until later in life (X 5). It was during his prison sentence that Malcolm
X first became exposed and converted to the Islamic religion. While Gandhi stuck to one faith and
Malcolm X was exposed to several, they both became much more interested in their prospective
religions in their twenties.
Both Gandhi and Malcolm X were murdered due to their religious affiliations and beliefs, albeit for
slightly different reasons and in different ways. After one failed attempt, Gandhi was shot three times
by his assassin, Nathuram Godse. Godse was a Hindu who was connected to the extremist Hindu
Mahasabha group that had condemned Gandhi for his nonviolence principles and for favoring the
formation of Pakistan. There is evidence that supports that Godse was acting on behalf of his leader
and group. Malcolm X was also targeted and killed by a religious group, the Nation of Islam.
However, this was a group he had once been a popular minister of. What drove him away from it was
when he learned of the leader s, Elijah Muhammad, shortcomings and hypocrisy. Their relationship
quickly deteriorated from that point and he soon resigned his position. After renouncing Muhammad,
he was marked for assassination and several attempts were made on his life. It wasn t long before his
enemies were successful. Malcolm X was charged on stage by

Qualitative Critique Of A Qualitative Study
Qualitative Critique Paper: Critique of a Qualitative Study Grace Fahham Shenandoah University
What was the purpose of the study? The purpose of this qualitative study was to describe how
occupational therapists involved client centred activities in daily living (CADL) in their practice. This
was done by reviewing the therapist s experiences and reflections about their interaction with clients
that suffered from a stroke. The study involved coding of three categories. These categories included:
1) Sharing an understanding as the point of departure, 2) Sharing through experiences, and 3)
Challenges in applying the CADL. How were the participants recruited? This study was involved in
the LAS II (a multicenter cluster randomized controlled trial). There was an intervention group,
receiving the CADL, as well as a control group, receiving the normal ADL intervention. Chosen for
the study in LAS II were those treated for an acute stroke in a stroke unit less than three months or
three months after the stroke occurred. In addition, those eligible for the study had to have met the
following conditions: be dependent in at least two ADL s, not having been diagnosed with dementia,
able to fully understand and follow instructions, were referred for rehabilitation to one of the 16 units
participating in LAS II. In this study, the occupational therapists were participants recruited as well.
Out of 44 occupational therapists that attended five

American Revolutionary War
A motivating force behind the revolution was the American embrace of a political ideology called
republicanism , which was dominant in the colonies by 1775. The country party in Britain, whose
critique of British government emphasized that corruption was to be feared, influenced American
politicians. The commitment of most Americans to republican values and to their rights, helped bring
about the American Revolution, as Britain was increasingly seen as hopelessly corrupt and hostile to
American interests; it seemed to threaten to the established liberties that Americans enjoyed. The
greatest threat to liberty was depicted as corruption. The colonists associated it with luxury and,
especially, inherited aristocracy, which they condemned. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Americans were totally unaware that the British would try to cross the creek in separate places.
Washington backtracked to Chester, Pennsylvania. A British pursuit was stopped by a rearguard unit;
therefore, Howe could not occupy the abandoned capital until September 26. British deaths totaled to
about 600 and American losses were 900 dead and wounded, along with 400 taken prisoner. After
Howe s victory at Brandywine, his army camped at Germantown, Pennsylvania. Washington planned
a surprise attack against the redcoats at sunrise. He broke the army into four separate columns for
battle. The American soldiers marched to Germantown by two roads, with General Sullivan to the
right and General Greene to the left. Washington, along with General Wayne, joined Sulliven and
caused the British to fall back. Some hundred men ran and hid in the Chew house, a large stone
building, and returned fire from the second story. Instead of by passing the building, Colonel Knox
believed that they should destroy the house with the redcoats in it. Knox s fired cannons at the home,
which merely bounced back at them. The fog and smoke caused massive confusion for several others
of Washington s columns. All of a sudden two American divisions collided and fired upon each other.
More and more mishaps followed, and finally Washington men retreated. In June of 1775 in
Charlestown the British were awaken from their sleep. The British were totally unaware of the fact

Che Guevara In The Motorcycle Diaries
The film The Motorcycle Diaries tells the origin story of Ernesto Guevara before he became the
legendary revolutionary leader Che Guevara. I separate Che from Ernesto because it truly seems as if
Guevara s soul was shaken during the course of his journey portrayed in this film and the insight he
gained into the lives of his fellow South Americans transformed him into a completely different
person with new beliefs and goals This new person would later be known around the world as Che.
Guevara s compassion for the less fortunate was evident in his early life, in which he pursued a
medical career with a focus in providing aid to those with leprosy. His compassion was amplified

causes them to change, but none become essentially an entirely new person like Guevara. Ernesto at
the beginning of the film is completely different from the Che that is killed in Bolivia by the CIA. It is
almost impossible to imagine the shy medical student at the beginning of the film leading
revolutionary soldiers in the Congo near the end of his life. Transformation like this is rare and only
occurs under extreme circumstances. Guevara was born in the right place and time to be exposed to

`` A Winter Of Lahore `` By Ashley Carus Wilson
Irene Petrie: Missionary to Kashmir
Written by Ashley Carus Wilson, this book is a biography of Irene Petrie, a missionary who went
abroad to India for four year, and died during her time there. Carus Wilson is sister to Petrie, and
wrote this book for the purpose of ensuring that her sister was remembered and honored by the
community. The chapter being examined is entitled, A Winter in Lahore , and details Petrie s first
arrival to India and her mission work thereafter.
The audience of this text can be identified as a variety of individuals involved in the Protestant
Christian religion. It is evident that this book is written with the intent of praising missionaries,
especially brave females like Irene Petrie. Many members of the church community during this time
were very interested in learning about the bravery and dedication of the inspiring missionaries. These
individuals most likely loved reading books such as this to learn more about the missionaries who
dedicated their lives to God in hopes of converting the uncultured, barbaric Indian people. It is
reasonable to assume that these individuals were also the ones who helped support such dangerous
missionary endeavors spiritually, if not also financially. By showing all the accomplishments of Petrie,
Carus Wilson is able to exemplify a missionary success story, which further increases the support of
the missionary field.
When analyzing the information presented in the text, it is largely assumed that this audience is

The Effects Of Estrogen And Postmenopausal Women
In this article, researchers wanted to assess the effects of estrogen and progesterone treatment on
visual and verbal cognitive function in postmenopausal women. In the abstract, researchers identified
estrogen, progesterone, and synthetic progestin as the hormones in question. However, researchers did
not identify the ultimate reason why these hormones were important to women who experienced
menopause. In fact, the researchers did not define postmenopausal women, the symptoms they
experience, or the need for hormone treatment. This presents a minor flaw; without detailing the
importance of the study, it gives off the perception that the researchers were only researching a
particular topic they were interested in, comparing studies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even with the references that they provided, they did not extract the information and present it in a
way that made it comparable, detail by detail, to estrogen and progesterone. They were able to list why
synthetic progestin was a risk, but not as to why it was a benefit, or why synthetic progestin was being
administered in the first place for hormonal treatment. Even on line 6, on page 3, the researchers
stated despite the significant distinctions between progesterone and synthetic progestins... , but failed
to identify the significant distinctions between them. On page 2, line 15, they stated that progesterone
is likely to be more beneficial and carry fewer risks than its synthetic counterpart , but did not include
an analysis of the difference, or why cognitively they are important.
The researchers emphasized the need for a closer investigation of progesterone effects in
postmenopausal women, but continue to exclaim that it is potentially so much better than synthetic
progestin or estrogen. Results from previous studies were not operationalized to be used within means
of this study. Often, throughout the paper, the researchers use terms such as variable, general, almost
uniformly, or mostly, to describe results. However, it is difficult to distinguish the significance of the
references they are using because the claims are generalized. The few studies they

Game Review 8:
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3
This game is the real modern future warfare. The game has a very high defined and a large variety of
guns to choose from. Call of duty games have always delivered a simulation of a real feel of a modern
day battle field, in its series. This particular version is a representation of a battlefield in 2065, the
field is dominated by unimaginable war machines, if you are a call of duty series enthuse you know
that the soldier on your team is usually the best friend in these games with his warnings and his
directives. The most noticeable difference in this version is that every aspect of this game is fine tuned

benefit of the thruster pack, is that all its inputs are easily controllable using just a single button hence
you avoid distraction, and have the right time to completely destroy your enemy or make a swift
escape from them.
The games graphics are highly detailed; this makes the missions more captivating. There are two
breakout missions, to create a new experience far from the other styles of play. You have the option to
alternate between dogfighting in a jet and battling enemies on foot. The other involves hacking into
someone s mind and fighting the memories of a long past battle. Both represent Call of Duty at its
best: big showpiece missions that feel distinct both in style and in the challenges you face. But they re
ultimately stones striking a pond, their ripples lost to the stillness. On the whole, this campaign is very
one note, albeit one that sounds better in concert.
Call of Duty: Black Ops is a spectacular modern warfare game, to enjoy the game better is when you

Digital Modulation Techniques For Modern Communication...
ABSTRACT
This project describes the different types of digital modulation techniques that are implemented in
modern communication systems. Currently most of the wireless transmission and radio
communication systems adapts digital modulation techniques because of its ability to provide high
information capacity, better data encryption, greater noise immunity and easier multiplexing of
different forms of inputs/information such as sound, video etc. All the experiments and data collected
are obtained using software called Simulink. Digital modulation techniques have the ability to convey
more information in the same channel than analog modulation techniques this also implies that same
amount of data can be stored in less space. The basic techniques which include Amplitude shift
keying, Phase Shift keying, Frequency Shift keying and Quadrature Phase shift keying have been
demonstrated by creating a model using the blocks and channels available in the Simulink library. The
signal used in all of the experiments which is to be transmitted is a randomly generated sequence of
bits and the carrier signal used is a high frequency sinusoidal signal. All of these experiments vary a
characteristic (frequency, amplitude and phase) of the carrier sinusoid to represent the signal that is to
be transmitted. A separate communication system has been developed which accepts sound as input
signal which is digitally modulated and the corresponding output is obtained accordingly.

What Is Walzer s Theory Of Aggression
What is Walzer s Theory of Aggression ?
According to Michael Wazler, the theory of aggression implies to the ideologies of jus ad bellum as
detailed in the international law. He uses domestic correlation as the basis of the theory by explaining
how the rules that govern citizens apply to the international community. The rights that apply to the
citizens are similar to those of the states. He argues that Every violation of the territorial integrity or
political sovereignty of an independent state is called aggression He subdivides the theory into six
main points that act as the standards of comprehending war from a moral point of view.
The international community constitutes of independent nations that Wazler uses to demonstrate the
concept of a civilized society.
The states that form the international community have rights. The foundation of the rights is the rights
guaranteed to persons.
It is a crime for a state to use force against the other. Such actions comprise the state s rights.
The justification of violence as a means of defending oneself where individuals and states use it as a
method of enforcing laws
Hostility serves to validate war
It is possible to punish and ward off aggressors
Walzer seeks to point out that when states emphasize on their rights, they must also be (somehow) the
objects of punishment
How does Walzer modify that theory in the section of the book on jus ad bellum, and why does he feel
it needs modification?
He uses the

Vietnam War Protest Songs
Other Vietnam War Music Protest Songs During the Vietnam War, there was significant protest songs

Absolutely nothing, say it again! This was also released from the Motown record Label, showing their
quick move into political music and music that directly reflected the feelings of American citizens.
There were several other examples of this kind of music, some released by Motown and others not.
Another great example of a song released with meaning about the Vietnam war was Aretha Franklin s

on the earnings of a lady typist, I don t want a bayonet in my belly, I don t want my b*llocks shot
away! I d rather stay in England, in merry, merry England, and fornicate my bleedin life away! The
satirical and mocking song shows the reality of life for most soldiers who fought in the war, as most of
them may have been unaware what they were fighting for and would have preferred to stay at home,
had there not been the immense pressure to sign up for the war effort . To summarize, politics has
inspired various pieces of music writing, from soft rock to pop, throughout history and is used as an
outlet to show public response to politicians and their views or laws that they put in place.

Characteristics Of A Poorly Written Report
As a police officer, the difference between a well written and poorly written report is massive. A
poorly written report can leave out crucial points that will affect the outcome of each case. There are
certain rules of writing when writing a report, that will change a poorly written report to a well written
one.
The first rule is writing in first person. An officer should always refer to themselves as I or me. Doing
this will clearly identify you as being the person doing the investigation. It will look good to those
reading your report, and also sound good to those who will hear your testimony. This will let the
reader know that is was the officer that conducted the investigation writing the report and not a
separate person recounting details and possibly missing facts. The second rule to writing is writing in
the past tense. The events in the report have already happened, and therefore should be written in the
past tense. By writing this way, you will develop consistency, therefore creating a report that is
professional and easy to read. The third rule is to use an active voice in your report. This style of
writing shows who is doing an action, instead of a passive voice which shows who is having
something done to them. This will allow the officer to mention first who was doing the action before
stating the action itself. The fourth rule in writing is to write in chronological order. Starting all reports
with the date and time and how you as an officer got involved,

Writing Class Reflective Essay
Your Creative Writing class has taught me so much about being creative, confident and of course a
being a better writer. Every assignment that we did was beneficial to my creativity and confidence.
For example, we learned about imagery, show not tell and I was able to fully incorporate that into my
writing. When the guest speaker Bindu Sharma came in to talk to our class about her experience of
becoming a published author, I was able to get a feel for what the process may be like if I ever pursue
the publication path. I gathered so much knowledge from the projects we did and I became more open
to other genre s and writing categories. For example, when I first found out that I loved to write I
thought that the only thing I enjoyed was the fiction genre, but then in this class I discovered the raw
beauty of poetry and the inspiration of non fiction writing as well. ... Show more content on

in this class helped me grow as a writer. For example when I wrote my place piece on my short story, I
liked it so much that I added it to my short story. The place piece that I added to my story ended up
being my favorite part of the story and also others told me that part of imagery was their favorite part
of my story as well. Certain exercises helped me to take risks within my writing for example I created
a piece in second person POV, the piece was an objective place piece and by taking the risk of putting
it in second person it became a more interesting piece. I never would have known how much better my
writing could be if I hadn t done these writing

The Life Of Michael Jackson

Music 125
December 11th, 2014
The Life of Michael Jackson We live in a world where music definitely plays a huge role even in our
day to day lives. It is important to understand that our music today, has been tremendously impacted
by artists from decades before. Some of the best artists in the history of music such as: Elvis Presley
and the Beatles have been among the most recognized contributors to music since. Michael Jackson is
another icon in the music industry; he is in my opinion, the best artist/singer of all times. Not only was
he able to captivate his audience with his music, but he was also an amazing performer. In the next
few paragraphs, I d like to vaguely speak of his life and career and you give you an idea as to why I
feel this way about him. On August 29th, 1958, Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary Indiana. At
a very early age, him along with his siblings formed a musical group; their father was the main reason
for this happening. When the group was first formed, they were known as the Jackson Family and
included Jackie, Jermaine, and Tito. Michael became the lead singer of the group at just five years old.
At that point in time, his career was destined to be successful. Once their brother Marlon joined the
group shortly after, they became the well known, Motown group, The Jackson 5. While being part of
the Jackson 5, their career was strongly impacted by their father, Joseph. At times, he was known to

Perseverance In African American Literature
Perseverance, is a word best suited to describe the early literary and vernacular traditions of African
Americans and the post slavery literature. Through the fight for freedom and equality one motif that
stands out the most is education and more specifically writing as a form of freedom. This perseverance
for education/writing speaks to me as both the daughter of an immigrant that also worked hard to get
an education, and an aspiring writer.
The first section of the Norton Anthology of African American Literature stresses how important early
literary and vernacular traditions were to the slaves as they were a means of rebellion and catharsis.
One of the excuses the early settlers made for slavery was based around the idea that African slaves ...

Phillis Wheatley is a good example of this because she constantly had to prove herself to her white
readers and even then there were those, including Thomas Jefferson that discredited her work. In a
previous class, American Literature, I remember being shocked to read about Jefferson s sentiments
towards African Americans, not that I held him in such high regard, but it seemed as though he was
stubbornly trying to hold on to the idea that African Americans were lesser than him and incapable of
literary genius. I mean to go as far as to write the compositions published under her name are below
the dignity of criticism, is condescending (xxxix). Even so the determination that writers such as
Frederick Douglas, Booker T. Washington, W.E.B. Du Bois among many others, had to rise above this
prejudice and instead work to educate and inspire other African American writers is awe inspiring.
Then these writers had the challenging task of creating work that would enlighten the reader without
alienating them as well as match the period aesthetics. Those societal pressures aren t really present in
today s literary world as they were then. For African American writers, however, there seemed to be a
higher expectancy of their work as now in the nineteenth century their audience had grown and they
still had to work through the prejudices some had concerning their writing

Metacarpal Veins
The systemic circulation consists of the arterial and the venous systems.
Arteries are a high pressure system and a pulse can be palpated. The muscle layer in arteries is
stronger and they will not collapse like veins. Arteries are also deeper than veins and are surrounded
by nerve endings, making arterial puncture painful.
The venous system consists of superficial and deep veins. The superficial or cutaneous veins are those
used for venipuncture. Because thrombosis of the superficial veins of the lower extremities can easily
extend to the deep veins, it is important to avoid the use of these veins. Superficial veins are bluish in
color. The pressure within veins is low and therefore a pulse will not be palpated in a vein.

If large enough they may accommodate a small gauge needle, however they are used as a last resort.
Metacarpal Veins:
The metacarpal veins are formed by the union of the digital veins. They are usually visible, lie flat on
the hand, are easy to feel, and are easily accessible. The hand provides a flat surface for stabilization
and as this vein is in the extremity it allows successive venipunctures to be performed above the site.
These veins may therefore be the first choice for venipuncture.
Cephalic Vein:
The cephalic vein flows upward along the radial aspect of the forearm. Its size readily accommodates
a large needle, while its position provides easy access and natural splinting. This vein can be accessed
from the wrist to the upper arm (using the most distal region of the vein first). These veins tend to roll
so anchoring the vein during venipuncture essential.
Accessory Cephalic Vein:
The accessory cephalic vein ascends the arm and joins the cephalic vein below the elbow. Its large size
accommodates a large needle.

stereotypical Asian accent, which was not present in her normal speaking voice. Also, the black ranger

The Impact Of The Treaty Of Versailles
The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty signed between Germany and the Allies. It was to stop the war to
end all wars (Woodrow Wilson). Every country or colony entered in this war had suffered immense
loss and unbelievable damage to the landscape where the battle had taken place. The Treaty was meant
to finally bring peace to the world, but instead, it only let more problems arise. Worse ones that
certainly had not been intended for. The Treaty of Versailles only brought peace for so long, and after
twenty one years, another devastating war had been released on the world. However, the repercussions
are solely because of the Treaty of Versailles, as it put all of the costs of the war on Germany,
including taking responsibility for starting it in the first place.
As to speak, Germany took the very rough brunt of the war. Including the costs that Britain didn t
want to deal with, and instead passed the blame. Germany was forced to take responsibility for
starting the war and all the losses and casualties to the Allied Forces. There were also countless other
financial weights that they had to deal with after the treaty was signed. Of course, and with good
reason as well, the German people were outraged by this. The treaty had been written only by the
Allies, and Germany was forced to play under their will if the country didn t want to be invaded or
annexed by the other side. It was a threat they knew would be carried out. Even to this, Germany
suffered great injustice, whether

Difference Between Graphic Design And Typography
INTRODUCTION
This is a research paper about Graphic Design and Typography and the comparison of artists Paula
Scher and Neville Brody. Graphic design is the process of visual communication and problem solving
using one or more of typography, photography, and illustration. The field is considered a subset of
visual communication and communication design, but sometimes the term graphic design is used
synonymously. Graphic designers create and combine symbols, images, and text to form visual
representations of ideas and messages. They use typography, visual arts and page layout techniques to
create visual compositions. Common uses of graphic design include corporate design logos and
branding, editorial design magazines, newspapers, and books, wayfinding or environmental design,
advertising, web design, communication design, product packaging, and signage. Whereas
Typography is everywhere we look. It s in the books we read, on the websites we visit, even in
everyday life on street signs, bumper stickers, and product packaging.
But what exactly is typography? Simply put, typography is the style or appearance of text. It ... Show

Because typography is a key element of most designs, the choice of font is one of the most important
decisions a designer can make: it will make or break a design. Using fonts effectively is one of the
most important jobs of any graphic designer. These skills are essential as you begin to express yourself
through typography. Remember, graphic design is all about communication: always think about how
your message is conveyed through your choice of images and, most importantly, typography! Just like
Scher who has always aimed to create expressionist typography, and feels that words have meaning
and typography has feeling and combines the two, and Brody who has designed a number of well
known typefaces. You too can express your art through

Economic And Economic Effects Of The Social Revolution...
During the Industrial Revolution, the working class were working for about 16 hours a day including
children. This lead children and adults in bad terms. In other words, they were living in urban areas
and many diseases were spreading due to the fact that they wouldn t take good care of themselves. The
Industrial Revolution began in Great Britain in the 18th Century because Agricultural Revolution had
more resources, Britain had resources, and Britain had wealth to invest. The Industrial Revolution was
rapid changes in how products were made and sold by using machines in the late 1700s through the
early 1900s. There were many economic and social effects in the Industrial Revolution. The working
class struggled a lot with money issues and they would get sick often due to the poor working
conditions. During the Industrial Revolution, the effects were economic negative because the workers
were getting treated unfairly. It was also negative social because the working class were living in bad
conditions.
Economically, the effects were negative in the Industrial Revolution because in factories many
workers such as adults and children were getting treated in a negative way.One example of a negative
economic effect of the Industrial Revolution can be found in Document # 3. The document was
created by William Cooper and Joseph Sadler who was a former factory worker the British Parliament
in London 1832. Since they were former factory workers they already had an idea of the working
conditions in factories. The document explains how workers were getting mistreated in factories. This
example shows the economic effects of the Industrial Revolution were negative because child labors
started at a young age and worked for about 16 hours a day. They were only allowed to get a 40
minute break in all the 16 hours. This means that they wouldn t eat very well and were getting paid
very little since they were children. Working long hours was making children very tired. This impact
their lives in a negative way because they were so young and were already suffering from working
long hours. Another example can be found in the article Inventions and new products. People that
were working in factories were forced to work hard and accept

Book Review: Post Holocaust Interpretation, Misinterpretation, and the Claims of History
In this account of Post Holocaust publication, Berel Lang presents thoroughly researched information
that rebuts some of the common moral, historical and theological claims of the events that took place
during this period. The content and the events and ideas discussed in this book are focused on the
possibility of this historical event with all the sadism and evil that it brings to mind is able to define a
post holocaust, with those who survived the event as well as historical scholars of the era introducing
new ways of the reconstruction of the events that took place as well as their ramifications. In addition,
the holocaust appears to be an historical event taken advantage of by people from various perspectives
for various reasons other than that of that of using it as a cautionary benchmark to deter reoccurrence
of such an event ever again. This is a fact the author struggles with throughout the book and one that
works in his favor by bestowing a moral authority over his scholarly reflections. The first chapter is
entitle The Nazi as Criminal inside and outside the Holocaust, and is indicative of the issues Lang
confronts. One outstanding question here is the focus given to the
Nazi atrocities against the Jews as compared to non Jews in the same period more so the Second
World War as comparative framework. Lang points at the heinous acts committed in Lidice and the

explains the environment he tries to build and details a series of questions he asks his students to

whether they are entitled to have them or not. As the article progresses the writer proposes whether all

Essay about Machiavellian Poltician
Throughout history men have been struggling to become the
strongest or most dominant force in society. Scores of men,
throughout history, have taken notice that it is easier to
control several smaller states as opposed to one unified
state. In the late 15th and early 16th centuries a man by the
name of Nicolo Machiavelli reflected the actions of famous
men and their assent to power in his book The Prince. If
Machiavelli s advice was followed, a ruler could almost
guarantee success. But perhaps the first politician in the
modern world to follow the advice of The Prince, was a
man by the name of Otto Eduard Leopold von Bismarck.

Laimer V. Latimer Case Summary
FACTS:
In 1994 Mr. Latimer was found guilty of second degree murder of his daughter Tracy Latimer, a 12
year old girl who had a severe form of cerebral palsy. On a leave to appeal from the Superior Court of
Canada (SCC), Mr. Latimer s imposition of mandatory minimum sentence for second degree murder
constitutes cruel and unusual punishment in this case, so the accused should receive a constitutional
exemption from minimum sentences under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. During the
second trial, the defence counsel asked the trial judge for a ruling, in advance of his closing
submissions, on whether the jury could consider a defence of necessity. Whether the jury should have
been allowed to consider a defence of necessity. The trial judge told counsel that he would rule on
necessity after the closing submissions, and later ruled that the defence was not available. Whether the
timing of trial judge s ruling as to the availability of the defence rendered accused s trial unfair.

What Are The Advantages And Weaknesses Of The Minimum Cash...
You Make the Call
Swimming pool small business:
1 What are the advantages and weakness of the minimum cash balance practice?
Using a minimum cash balance approach is a safe way for a business to make sure that it always has a
cash balance in reserve. It guarantees that the business will always have a certain amount of cash asset
to fall back on. This is a very limiting and unrealistic approach to managing a business working
capital though. Cash is just one component of working capital. A business could be flush with cash but
have liabilities that exceed that balance and have a negative working capital balance. A good business
needs to think beyond a mental cash framework and think broader to include other ramifications to the
overall profitability and balance sheet stability.
2 There is a saying, if it isn t broke, don t fix it . In view of the firm s present success in paying bills
promptly, should it be encouraged to use a cash budget? Be prepared to support your answer.
The business has been profitable but has it managed its resources as well as it could have? That is the
real question here. While the business feels that it has done well and paid its bills timely doesn t mean
that that the way it handles things can t be improved upon. Incorporating some planning and a possible
use of a cash budget might allow the owner to have a better understanding of where and how the
resources of the company are being used and where they might be put to a better use given better

Firearms and Their Consequences
Is the convenience of others worth the life of a single innocent? The answer of this question should
spark such a reaction that it would make it impossible to remain neutral. And as such the world should
ask the land that claims to be home of the brave; being the United States of America, what it s stance
is on gun control. Because the land of opportunity can no longer say yes to unrestricted gun sales and
no the safety of its innocents; or should only the gun owners dictate the laws in the land of
opportunity. America needs to enforce gun restrictions to save the lives of innocent people. To long
has it allowed its own civilians to dictate the worth of the life of an innocent. Should the general
consensus be to hold life to the highest value? Is it not unfathomable to allow convenience to trump
safety? Sometimes the only unbiased facts that can be stated are numbers, and here is some. Twelve,
six, twenty, and six; sure that those numbers are not significant individually but further explanation the
significance will deepen the meaning of each of numbers of these Massacres that occurred from July
to December of the same year. Twelve was the number of lives ended in July in Colorado of 2012, and
no this was not a fight, heated argument or anything even remotely close to that which statistically
speaking is the leading cause for gun violence. Under those circumstances a shooting could be
understandable; but this was a movie premier in Colorado where innocents lost their lives

21st Century Literacy In Education
Part A The digital world we live in is constantly changing and updating to include the most efficient
technology for everyday use. Children in today s society have grown up using the latest smartphones,
tablets, computers and televisions. It is no surprise that technology has made it s way into schools and
incorporated into classroom instruction. Robinson, McKenna and Conradi state that technology in
schools is here to stay...students must now be able to navigate hypermedia and to compose using not
only word processing software but desktop publishing systems capable of integrating multimedia. The
times, they are a changin (Robinson, McKenna Conradi, 2012, p. 223). Robinson, McKenna and
Conradi discuss in their research about a common myth of 21st Century literacy; that 21st century
literacy is about technology only (Robinson, McKenna Conradi, 2012, p. 227). As an educator, I agree
with Robinson, McKenna and Conradi that 21st Century literacy is not only about technology.
Technology is a wonderful supplement to learning literacy, however it does not take the place of
learning to read, write and orally communicate on a daily basis. Studies of workforce readiness show
that employers rate written and oral communication skills very highly, and collaboration, work ethic,
critical thinking, and leadership all rank higher than proficiency in information technology (Robinson,
McKenna Conradi, 2012, p. 227). As an educator, I feel that it is important to remember

DNA is an acronym, which stands for deoxyribonucleic acid. Every cell in an individual s body, with
the exception of red blood cells and eggs or sperm, contains the full genetic program for that
individual in its DNA. The human genome, which consists of about 3 billion base pairs, harbours
genetically relevant information that is essential for the characterization of each individual. [1] By

When such DNA profiles are stored one after another in a system, what we get is a DNA Database.
The issue that we discuss in this paper pertains to development of DNA Databases, their necessity
versus the ethical problems that they pose.
2. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The purpose of this paper is to understand basics of DNA profiling, its history and its position around
the world. The aim is also to discuss the underlying debate of decades as to whether DNA databases
must be maintained or not. It is a relevant discussion in view of draft bill having been proposed in
India with respect to DNA profiling and database. The objective is to deduce as to what will be the
happy medium if such database is introduced in India and also to realize the problems that the system
may have to encounter.
3. SCOPE
The scope of this paper is confined to study in brief about DNA profiling and not go into in depth
discussion of scientific methods involved and development of this technique through the years. This
study will concentrate on social aspects of this technique and of DNA Database so as to understand its
implications on general masses and their private lives.

The Conservation Assessment Of Common Trout And Colorado...
INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this conservation assessment is to provide land managers and the general public with
an overview of the distribution and status of common trout (brook trout Salvelinus fontinalis; brown
trout Salmo trutta; and rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss) on the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, and
Gunnison National Forests (hereafter, GMUG). Common trout species are part of a suite of
Management Indicator Species (MIS) ...which are monitored during forest plan implementation in
order to assess the effects of management activities on their populations and the populations of other
species with similar habitat needs which they may represent (Forest Service Manual 2620.5). MIS
assessments are revised every five years and each is a synthesis of the most recent field based
observations and peer reviewed science pertaining to the species.
Common trout and Colorado River cutthroat trout (O. clarkii stomias) are MIS representing aquatic
habitats on the GMUG. A variety of land management activities can affect lake and stream habitats,
including traditional forestry practices, road construction and maintenance, fire and fuels
management, and water development. The presence of MIS species in a watershed is not an obstacle
to active forest management. On the contrary, MIS species are used by Forest personnel to gauge the
response of the entire forest ecosystem to land management projects we implement. In particular,
common trout were selected to assess effects of

Virginia Woolf Two Cafeterias
Two Cafeterias , by Virginia Woolf, was written showing an underlying message of how different men
and woman are treated in this culture. Using words, descriptions, and tones Woolf expresses to the
reader how insignificant woman in this day are made to feel. Woolf shows throughout the entire piece
that the men of this society are treated to nothing less than invariably memorable luncheon parties
while woman are downgraded to dinner in the dining room. By showing the different standards in
which society holds men and woman during something as simple as a meal, Woolf undeniably
succeeds in showing the low level in which woman stand during this time. The men s meal is one that
leaves Woolf feeling as though we are all going to heaven. She lists off the potatoes being thin as
coins, sprouts foliated as rosebuds , and pudding so good that if it were otherwise related to rice and
tapioca would be nothing less than completely downgrading. The luncheon party was so proper that
them speaking of what was being eaten was unacceptable. The men were greeted with things such as
serving men and cushioned window seats for they are considered to be the most vital in their society.
Their attitude was nothing less then snobbish for they were made to feel so high. Treated inferior to
woman, and they sought to believe it themselves. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

If this level of customer service is adopted by policy in a public agency, it will soon become evident in
the management style and eventually will trickle down into the hiring. If a public agency can adopt a
high level customer service policy, that constantly seeks feedback from its customers, the tax payer. If
this feedback, then become a factor for evaluation and appraisals, the management and hiring will
become conscious of efficiency and try to mimic the diversity of the population in their hiring. This
aggressive diversity management system coupled with EEO could be great option for public agencies
to be diverse and eliminate Affirmative Action. While the author understands that there are other
complex issues and arguments surrounding this topic, the concept of the tax payer forcing the public
agency to diversity, just as a the customers force a business to diversity is an appealing process to the

While Gandhi stuck to one faith and Malcolm X was exposed to several, they both became much more interested in their prospective religions in their twenties. Both Gandhi and Malcolm X were murdered due to their religious affiliations and beliefs, albeit for slightly different reasons and in different ways. After one failed attempt, Gandhi was shot three times by his assassin, Nathuram Godse. Godse was a Hindu who was connected to the extremist Hindu Mahasabha group that had condemned Gandhi for his nonviolence principles and for favoring the formation of Pakistan. There is evidence that supports that Godse was acting on behalf of his leader and group. Malcolm X was also targeted and killed by a religious group, the Nation of Islam. However, this was a group he had once been a popular minister of. What drove him away from it was when he learned of the leader s, Elijah Muhammad, shortcomings and hypocrisy. Their relationship quickly deteriorated from that point and he soon resigned his position. After renouncing Muhammad, he was marked for assassination and several attempts were made on his life. • 3. Qualitative Critique Of A Qualitative Study Qualitative Critique Paper: Critique of a Qualitative Study Grace Fahham Shenandoah University What was the purpose of the study? The purpose of this qualitative study was to describe how occupational therapists involved client centred activities in daily living (CADL) in their practice. This was done by reviewing the therapist s experiences and reflections about their interaction with clients that suffered from a stroke. The study involved coding of three categories. These categories included: 1) Sharing an understanding as the point of departure, 2) Sharing through experiences, and 3) Challenges in applying the CADL. How were the participants recruited? This study was involved in the LAS II (a multicenter cluster randomized controlled trial). There was an intervention group, receiving the CADL, as well as a control group, receiving the normal ADL intervention. Chosen for the study in LAS II were those treated for an acute stroke in a stroke unit less than three months or three months after the stroke occurred. In addition, those eligible for the study had to have met the following conditions: be dependent in at least two ADL s, not having been diagnosed with dementia, able to fully understand and follow instructions, were referred for rehabilitation to one of the 16 units participating in LAS II. In this study, the occupational therapists were participants recruited as well. Out of 44 occupational therapists that attended five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The country party in Britain, whose critique of British government emphasized that corruption was to be feared, influenced American politicians. The commitment of most Americans to republican values and to their rights, helped bring about the American Revolution, as Britain was increasingly seen as hopelessly corrupt and hostile to American interests; it seemed to threaten to the established liberties that Americans enjoyed. The greatest threat to liberty was depicted as corruption. The colonists associated it with luxury and, especially, inherited aristocracy, which they condemned. ... A British pursuit was stopped by a rearguard unit; therefore, Howe could not occupy the abandoned capital until September 26. British deaths totaled to about 600 and American losses were 900 dead and wounded, along with 400 taken prisoner. After Howe s victory at Brandywine, his army camped at Germantown, Pennsylvania. Washington planned a surprise attack against the redcoats at sunrise. He broke the army into four separate columns for battle. The American soldiers marched to Germantown by two roads, with General Sullivan to the right and General Greene to the left. Washington, along with General Wayne, joined Sulliven and caused the British to fall back. Some hundred men ran and hid in the Chew house, a large stone building, and returned fire from the second story. Instead of by passing the building, Colonel Knox believed that they should destroy the house with the redcoats in it. Knox s fired cannons at the home, which merely bounced back at them. The fog and smoke caused massive confusion for several others of Washington s columns. All of a sudden two American divisions collided and fired upon each other. • 6. `` A Winter Of Lahore `` By Ashley Carus Wilson Irene Petrie: Missionary to Kashmir Written by Ashley Carus Wilson, this book is a biography of Irene Petrie, a missionary who went abroad to India for four year, and died during her time there. Carus Wilson is sister to Petrie, and wrote this book for the purpose of ensuring that her sister was remembered and honored by the community. The chapter being examined is entitled, A Winter in Lahore , and details Petrie s first arrival to India and her mission work thereafter. The audience of this text can be identified as a variety of individuals involved in the Protestant Christian religion. It is evident that this book is written with the intent of praising missionaries, especially brave females like Irene Petrie. Many members of the church community during this time were very interested in learning about the bravery and dedication of the inspiring missionaries. These individuals most likely loved reading books such as this to learn more about the missionaries who dedicated their lives to God in hopes of converting the uncultured, barbaric Indian people. It is reasonable to assume that these individuals were also the ones who helped support such dangerous missionary endeavors spiritually, if not also financially. By showing all the accomplishments of Petrie, Carus Wilson is able to exemplify a missionary success story, which further increases the support of the missionary field. • 9. Digital Modulation Techniques For Modern Communication... ABSTRACT This project describes the different types of digital modulation techniques that are implemented in modern communication systems. Currently most of the wireless transmission and radio communication systems adapts digital modulation techniques because of its ability to provide high information capacity, better data encryption, greater noise immunity and easier multiplexing of different forms of inputs/information such as sound, video etc. All the experiments and data collected are obtained using software called Simulink. Digital modulation techniques have the ability to convey more information in the same channel than analog modulation techniques this also implies that same amount of data can be stored in less space. The basic techniques which include Amplitude shift keying, Phase Shift keying, Frequency Shift keying and Quadrature Phase shift keying have been demonstrated by creating a model using the blocks and channels available in the Simulink library. The signal used in all of the experiments which is to be transmitted is a randomly generated sequence of bits and the carrier signal used is a high frequency sinusoidal signal. All of these experiments vary a characteristic (frequency, amplitude and phase) of the carrier sinusoid to represent the signal that is to be transmitted. A separate communication system has been developed which accepts sound as input signal which is digitally modulated and the corresponding output is obtained accordingly. ... • 12. Characteristics Of A Poorly Written Report As a police officer, the difference between a well written and poorly written report is massive. A poorly written report can leave out crucial points that will affect the outcome of each case. There are certain rules of writing when writing a report, that will change a poorly written report to a well written one. The first rule is writing in first person. An officer should always refer to themselves as I or me. Doing this will clearly identify you as being the person doing the investigation. It will look good to those reading your report, and also sound good to those who will hear your testimony. This will let the reader know that is was the officer that conducted the investigation writing the report and not a separate person recounting details and possibly missing facts. The second rule to writing is writing in the past tense. The events in the report have already happened, and therefore should be written in the past tense. By writing this way, you will develop consistency, therefore creating a report that is professional and easy to read. The third rule is to use an active voice in your report. This style of writing shows who is doing an action, instead of a passive voice which shows who is having something done to them. This will allow the officer to mention first who was doing the action before stating the action itself. The fourth rule in writing is to write in chronological order. Using a minimum cash balance approach is a safe way for a business to make sure that it always has a cash balance in reserve. It guarantees that the business will always have a certain amount of cash asset to fall back on. This is a very limiting and unrealistic approach to managing a business working capital though. Cash is just one component of working capital. A business could be flush with cash but have liabilities that exceed that balance and have a negative working capital balance. A good business needs to think beyond a mental cash framework and think broader to include other ramifications to the overall profitability and balance sheet stability. 2 There is a saying, if it isn t broke, don t fix it . The business has been profitable but has it managed its resources as well as it could have? That is the real question here. While the business feels that it has done well and paid its bills timely doesn t mean that that the way it handles things can t be improved upon.
