Theme Of Fate In Frankenstein
The Story of Fate and Omen:Frankenstein What may not be expected in a country of eternal light?
(Shelley 1).This question comes from Walton s first letter to his sister in England. It is also a brief
summary of 19th century world.19th century has been a climax in terms of love of science since
The Renaissance when people discovered themselves and became a light. In order to reflect this
enlightenment into the society, literature has always been an instrument.Social structure is

interaction with scientific developments. I succeeded in discovering the cause of generation and

I Will Look At 2 Works Of Art
Museum Essay In the following essay, I will look at 2 works of art: If I Knew What I Knew
Then and The Last Judgement Triptych. I will describe all the details I see in the paintings and
come up with a conclusion of what the artist was trying to accomplish, and then conducting
research to combine my thoughts with the actual meaning of the artwork. After researching, I will
determine if the artist was successful in what I found they tried to accomplish in this artwork. The
first five minutes I spent staring at the artwork, all I saw were lines, figures, and colors. Two hours
pass and I started noticing details I had not seen before. Through these two artworks, I caught a
glimpse into the artist s mind and became the storyteller rather... Show more content on

darker colors such as black, gray, dark blues and small amounts of red. The right side, where the
women and window are located, has much brighter colors like white, yellow, and brighter blues.
In the center of the artwork is a red outline of a women. The women is on her knees and hands.
The arc in her back gives the sensation of vulnerability. My first explanation for this artwork is
that the artist is showing a woman reflecting on her past and not being happy with what she has
done. Her shadow or her decisions are haunting her present life. With the white gown, I can make
the assumption that she is getting married and is looking at her past, maybe reminiscing on
about another lover. She could have been young and in love. Made a couple of wrong decisions
and was heartbroken. She is now afraid to love again but knows that she has a brighter future
ahead of her which is why there appears to be light coming from the windows direction. The
small women figure in the center of the painting could be a symbolization of her not wanting to
go back to being the vulnerable girl she was. Another explanation I came up with for this artwork
was centered on the anger or maybe even jealousy that her face expression portrays. By marrying,
she will be

The Social Science Perspectives Of Sociologists And Social...
The two social science perspectives of criminologists and social marketers share both connections
and disparities when it comes to the use of drugs and alcohol. This report emphasises the different
disciplinary approaches used by both these social science perspectives when it comes to alcohol
and drugs. A criminologists perspective explores the use of drugcourts to divert illicit drug users
from prison into treatment programs for their drug addictions along with the revaluation of the 25a
crimes act Assault causing death due to the 2012 Thomas Kelly king hit in Kings cross. The social
marketingperspectives examines the different marketing range and nature of advertising and
promotional strategies used by alcoholcompanies to young people and the codes and regulations
put in place when it comes to advertising alcohol and young people.
It is inevitable that at some stage in an individual s life, they are going to use drugs and or
alcohol and some point. In the entirety of this report alcohol refers to a liquid or brew containing
alcohol as the active agent and drugs refer to a substance that is used as a medicine or narcotic.
(Hornby, A.S. and Wehmeier, S., 1995)
The criminologist s perspective has a heavy reliance on the drug court when it comes to the
disciplinary approaches used in relations to drugs. The term Drug Court refers to dedicated
courtrooms that provide judicially monitored treatment, drug testing and other services to drug
involved offenders. They

Essay about Clancy of the Overflow
Clancy of the Overflow Analysis
Bush poetry gives people a unique and interesting prospective into the people who made this
country the way it is today and the history behind it. Clancy of the Overflow is a well known
bush poem by poet AB Banjo Paterson. Clancy of the overflow is about a person from the city who
met a drover/ shearer named Clancy. After meeting him he becomes jealous of Clancy s lifestyle
which is better than his city life. In this poem Banjo uses a variety of poetic devices to get his
message across like the use of suggestive language, descriptive language and imagery. Banjo uses
suggestive language to make the reader realise that country life is much better than city life where it

Banjo does this to persuade the reader in believing that the country lifestyle which is portrayed
as free, clean and laid back is better than the city lifestyle which is portrayed as dirty, hot and
boring. Banjo also makes the reader believe that the attractiveness of living off the land and
idealizing the country life as a drover making the quality of life in the country seems greater
than in the city. Banjo uses imagery and the first person point of view to help the reader imagine
what it would be like to be a drover. The person living in the city imagines what Clancy the
drover is doing and feeling while he is stuck in a hot office all day. As the stock are slowly
stringing, Clancy rides behind them singing and also He sees the vision splendid of the sunlit
plains extended and at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars. The city living character
is conveying what Clancy the drover is doing and how peaceful it would be if he could do the
same. He also says And I somehow fancy that I d like to change with Clancy. This suggests that
the city living character is somewhat jealous of Clancy, his job and his lifestyle. The city living
character furthermore explains the city life as Of the tramways and the buses making hurry down
the street, and the language uninviting of the gutter children fighting . This suggests that the he
doesn t like his life in the city and considers it as busy and also

No Color Barrier in the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn I felt so lonesome I most wished I was

family and a place he can truly call home. Through his adventure, he rids himself of a father that
is deemed despicable by society, and he gains a father that society hasn t even deemed as a man.
This lonely and depressed young boy only finds true happiness when he is befriended with a slave
named Jim. Although Huck Finn was born and raised into a racially oppressive society, it is

Here s Huck [...] he hain t got no family [...]. They was going to rule me out because they said
every boy must have a family [...]. I was most ready to cry (224). This feeling of disparity and
loneliness is reiterated to the reader because Huck will only be content as he befriends Jim.
Huck is raised in a truly racist slave state and through his ignorance, like the rest of society that
surrounds him, he does not see black people as equals, and he refers to Jim as merely a piece of
property. Miss Watson s big [slave], named Jim (222). Twain clearly implies Huck s view of
superiority over Jim, as Huck complains that Jim is no longer a useful slave because he gossips
too much. Jim said the witches bewitched him and put him in a trance [....slaves] would come
moles to hear Jim tell about it [...]. Jim was most ruined for a servant, because he got so stuck up
on account of having seen the devil and been rode by witches (223). Twain depicts this view from
Huck, so the reader had a reference point for Huck s personal growth throughout the tale. He then
continues to show the reader that Huck has no regards for Jim as Huck asks Jim to tell him his
fortune, but he refuses to give Jim any money for

What Is The Dramatic Irony In The Black Cat By Edgar Allan...
The Black Cat is an old short story written by Edgar Allan Poe an American Writer. It is a horror
fiction story which demonstrate the fascinating changes that the human mind has during the
abuse of alcohol. The protagonist is physiological corrupter by the abuse of alcohol and his mind
play games with itself. He changes his personality as the story progresses and the way that he
treats others around him. Everyone is affected by his behavior even his lovely cat. The cat
becomes the object of his hate and in some way it is the first thing that he blames about his
irrational acts. In the short story The Black Cat , Edgar Allan Poe, uses a varied forms of Irony,
dramatic Irony, verbal Irony, and situation irony to produce a transformation of love threw hate
along of the story.
In dramatic Irony, occurs when the readers are aware about what is going to happen, but the
characters do not have any clue about what is going on. In The Black Cat , the story begins with
the main character sentenced to death, but with one story to tell. The Irony here is that he was
not aware about how his life was going to change. In the beginning he is describing how happy
was his childhood and how much he loved his pets. In the second paragraph of the story the
main character describes his personality as a child in the first sentence From my infancy I was
noted for the docility and humanity of my disposition. My tenderness of heart was even so
conspicuous as to make me the jest of my companions (3). He was a lovely child with an
uncertain future. Another irony finds it on the story is how he describes the fidelity and love that
the man can own There is something in the unselfish and self sacrificing love of a brute, which
goes directly to the heart of him who has had frequent occasion to test the paltry friendship and
gossamer fidelity of mere Man (3 4). When the story is progressing he is transforming to a violent
man without any act of compassion towards his faithful pet, which actually represented
faithfulness. He is represented himself as a child with a lovely personality, but he is not aware that
the lovely child was going to transform in an alcoholic man with a violent personality willing to
kill mercilessly.

Use of Symbolism in The Catcher in the Rye and The...
Use Of Symbolism In The Catcher In The Rye and The Great Gatsby There are many writers like
James Joyce, Patrick Kananach and Thomas Moore who use symbolism to convey and support
indirect meaning in their writings. J.D. Salinger and F. Scott Fitzgerald both use symbolism in
similar ways. In both The Catcher In The Rye and The Great Gatsby , the authors used
symbolism to convey emotions and reality. In The Catcher In The Rye , J.D. Salinger uses
Holden s red hunting cap, the exhibits at the Museum of Natural History and kings in the back
row as symbols whose meanings help tell the story. Holden s red hunting hat stands for Holden s
disapproval of adult society and phonies. Although, Holden and his hat are out of place in New...

Fitzgerald also uses colors for symbolism. The color white is used many times in the story. The
author uses white to describe Gatsby s clothes and his mansion. The color white represents
Gatsby s innocence and pure heart. The color yellow is also used throughout the story as a
symbol of corruption and death. The car that Gatsby drives was yellow and his yellow car killed
Myrtle. The flower that Daisy is named after is white on the outside and yellow in the middle.
Daisy seems innocent on the outside, but her real character is as corrupt and greedy as Tom s.
Throughout The Catcher In The Rye and The Great Gatsby , symbolism is used to paint mental
pictures for the reader. The symbols used allow the reader to foresee the character s emotions,
beliefs and values. Ultimately, the authors uses of symbols make both novels more interesting and

Hart s Concept Of The Existence Of A Legal System
Hart s concept of the existence of a legal system is made out of these three differences. Behind
the concept is a structure built with great care. Thus far perhaps this Article has injured only the
surface of the network and has not yet come to grasps with Hart s concept of law. Rolf Sartorius
would agree, for he contends that Hart s two minimum conditions for the existence of a legal
system establish nothing more than purely formal criteria for the existence of a legal system. As
such, they could be satisfied by the rules, officials, and players of the National Football League,
as well as many other rule administered social organizations. It will prove informative to
intensify and study Sartorius s position to provide a firmer grasp of Hart s concept of the
existence of a legal system and of the connection between this concept and Hart s concept of law.
Sartorius contends that Hart surely is aware of the inadequacy of defining law and morals in
formal terms. The two minimum conditions for the existence of a legal system, Sartorius
struggles, are relevant neither to Hart s concept of a legal system nor to his concept of law: If
one is intending upon removing from Hart s analysis a definition of legal system , indeed, if one
wants a complete picture of Hart s concept of law, one must put together: (1)what is said about the
union of primary and secondary rules with (2)what Hart contends is the minimal content of Natural
Law shared by both law and morals, and then combine

Cinematic Techniques In Mystic River
The film Mystic River uses many concepts in it to get its story across. The use of lighting was
crucial in order to accurately set the mood of the movie. The sound also was important to clue the
viewer in to what was happening and what was about to happen. The constant cuts and flashbacks
made it obvious that Dave s traumatizing past still affects every action and day of his current life.
The lighting in Mystic River plays a big role in setting the mood of the movie. The movie starts off
quite dull and brown in color, but after Dave was taken away by the pedophiles the movie got
even darker and continued to stay brown and depressing until Dave died. The movie had a lot of
low key lighting throughout it, which really helped to build up the suspense. The low key lighting
was mostly around Dave and Jimmy, both were people who had something to hide. Sean was the

It can really make or break a scene. Sounds and music can add tense, suspense and can set the
mood for a scene. The scene where Dave is escaping uses sounds to set the frantic mood. It
sounds as if monsters and wolves are chasing him; while it was only men chasing him Dave
remembers them as actual monsters. He refers to them as vampires and wolves throughout the
movie. At the Christening you hear typical church music in the background, but Jimmy couldn t
help but be worried about his daughter that didn t return home last night. You re able to tell
something is wrong when you hear the police sirens in the background and he turns around with a
stern expression on his face. If it had just been the church music in the background him turning

Essay On Loyalty And Loyalty
Customer Satisfaction And Loyalty
Zeithaml and Bitner (2000) defined customer satisfaction as the customers evaluation of a product
or service in terms of whether that product or service has met their needs and expectations .
Therefore, satisfaction is a consumer s post purchase evaluation and affective response to the
overall product or service experience. In other words, what consumer perceives after a product or
service consumption determines his/her satisfaction. Many researches have concluded that
satisfaction can determine the customer loyalty. Customer loyalty defined as a deeply held
commitment to re buy or re use a preferred product/service consistently in the future, thereby
causing repetitive same brand or same brand set purchasing, despite situational influences and
marketing efforts have the potential to cause switching behavior. The satisfaction/dissatisfaction

Rewarding College Athletes Benefits Essay
The Benefit of Rewarding College Athletes
A typical college Coach makes a seven figure salary, and what do the college athletes get

Merriam Webster Dictionary, amateurism is when somebody does an activity or hobby without
being paid, such as a college athlete. Many college athletes struggle financially during their years
attending college. Some believe that if they would have had a much easier time if they were

for people to have fun and do what they love. People who play sports wear their bodies down
each time they step out on the field. Even though it is what they love, it also becomes tiring and
painful. The point of athletes playing in college is for them to eventually, hopefully, move on to
go into the pro level. They themselves have a dream of being a legend to the next generations to

giving it their all to one day be a legend. All they care for is the possibility of one day providing
their family with a better life. If having college is not affordable then getting through it is near
impossible. Therefore providing a better life for their families with their success is not very likely.

Essay On South Floria
South Florida s ascendancy to the epicenter of the cruise industry began long before the modern
cruise lines were born. Early in the twentieth century, a group of daring visionaries and
entrepreneurs began to dream of expanding the local business community and creating new
industries to take advantage of Floridas climate with its sunshine and warmth. Chief among these
businesses they envisioned a winter tourism trade but to realize this dream they would require a
strong transportation infrastructure.
The coastal shipping trade along the United States East Coast helped to bring the first visitors to
Florida spurred on by the growing railroad empires developed by Henry Flagler and Henry B.

instead of sailing from the new ports, she cruised from Key West calling at Panama, Jamaica, and
Cuba. The following winter the cruises were repeated but this time sailing from Jacksonville. All
the remained was to link these new cruise efforts with the emerging South Florida ports.
After World War I, a flourishing trade developed with steamers such as the 1,700 gross ton ss

and Havana. However, sensing that the ports still lacked a proper infrastructure to maintain the
shipping industry, the first of many efforts began to improve the facilities. In Miami, a US$3

the Mayor of Hollywood was the driving force for a US$6 million project to deepen the harbor

contagious this plague is, and the effects it has on their society and their responses to the plague.
In the middle ages people had no idea about how any disease such as the Black Death could

them by God in his just wrath (Boccaccio). In other words, they think the plague came from the
sky or sent by God. They think maybe it is God s way of cleansing the earth or punishing them for
their unfair behaviors. Some think that a supernatural origin caused the disease. This disease is a
bacterium infection which has a variety of symptoms, such as, nose bleeding, tumors in the groin or

Throughout History Scholars Have Typically Portrayed Eve
Throughout history scholars have typically portrayed Eve as the sole creator of sin. In Genesis,
Eve is described as a weak female who ultimately felt that worldly possessions were deemed more
important than God s word. However; Eve can also be depicted as loyal, compassionate, and
compliant. In retrospect Eve is not as powerless as she is illustrated throughout literature.
When reading any type of literature about Adam and Eve, you are most likely persuaded that she
was the start of messing up mankind. Eve was known for being a weak women and having a vein
personality. Although, Eve was known for all of these ruthless things, in literature, readers are
never fully aware of how compliant, loyal and passionate she was to her significant ... Show more

Like all humans, we obsess over worldly possessions and things that we have never seen before.
Eve may have had an abundant amount of freedom, yet when you do not know any better and do
not fully understand the concept of sin you are open to any ideas. This does not make Eve an
antagonist. Eve was strong enough to understand that she made a mistake that furthermore changed
the outlook of mankind. The resulting book, Adam and Eve and the serpent argues that the earliest
Christian ideas about sexuality, freedom and sin have come down to us today only by way of a
fair amount of manhandling... Literature only lets readers view one side of this. Eve did not fully
understand the concept of sin, therefore if you do not know what something means you cannot be
labeled as a bad person.
He knew her and said to her: this is now bone from my bone and flesh from my flesh. this one will
be called my wife, for she was taken from her husband . for this reason a man and a woman are to
become one, and for this reason he leaves his father and his mother. He associates with his wife,
and they become one flesh This quote not only shows how loyal and passionate Eve was to Adam
but relying on your significant other is not a sign of weakness. Eve is portrayed as weak in
literature, but in

High School and Act
No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 The No Child Left Behind Act is designed to raise the
achievement levels of subgroups of students such as African Americans, Latinos, low income
students, and special education students to a state determined level of proficiency. However, since
its introduction in 2001, it has received a lot of criticism. Some argue the ulterior motives of the
Act while others commend its innovation and timing. With the Bush administration coming to an
end, it is difficult to determine what will happen to the Act or how effective it will continue to be.

will have on our youth. Lets first start by explaining... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The results are broken down into categories such as race, ethnicity, disability and students with

education. Another reason why the NCLB is good, by measuring the educational status and
growth by ethnicity the achievement gap between white and minority students will be smaller,
and ultimately the gap will close. In this day and age, there should be no reason as to why all
children do not and can not receive the same education, along with the same opportunities and
resources as other schools. There are tons of school throughout the country that are lacking the
bare necessities to operate a successful school, such as: up to date books, enough desks for all
students, lack of before and after school programs, supplies including but not limited to chalk,
calculators and paper. With Bush s reinstatement of the NCLB, as he mentioned earlier this year
in his State of the Union address, we can only hope that him and his Administration can keep
their promises made by not leaving any child behind. In order for this to happen, he needs to give
more money, at least eight billion dollars more to the NCLB. With this extra money lacking,
nearly five million children are behind. This money will make it possible for there to be before and

The Pedestrian By Ray Bradbury Analysis
Society provides a constant pressure to be a certain cookie cutter definition that only includes a
single shape in the whole box. Stepping out of the desired image is seen as wrong as the balance
and harmony society tries to maintain is unstable. In The Pedestrian written by Ray Bradbury
emphasizes the idea of a collective group pushing a single individualinto conforming to their
expectations as the main character Leonard Mead demonstrates this struggle. Leonard Mead tries to
conform to society through the symbolic change of shoes. Moreover, by not fulfilling society s
complete regulations Leonard is soon isolated and pushed away from the community which limited
Leonards mental self as he was alway alone. The Pedestrianreflects on the significant principle to
pursue your goals and desires as it influences on an individual s eccentricity that makes people
diverse even if it does not follow society s regulations. Furthermore, Mr. Leonard Mead struggles
with being different and his personal desires are viewed as abnormal since society fears the
unknown consequently abusing the individual for being different. In addition, methods that further
enhances the barrier Ray Bradbury set between Leonard Mead versus the rest of society is the
motif of light versus dark and Ray Bradbury s short story illustrates conflicts between pursuing a
personal desire and choosing to conform influences a persons individuality as a result of society s
regulations.

more pertinent to posit a philosophical political analysis of one of the flagship initiatives that
Ecuador has presented to the world and that is a symbolic example of the dispute of the logic of
capitalist development : the YasunГITT6 Initiative. This project consists of keeping the oil
underground (not drilling for it) in one of the most mega diverse areas of the world, located in
the Ecuadorian Amazon. In that sense it is a concrete example of the ways a society of good
living can be built. The framework for this analysis is a discussion taking place globally among a
certain branch of Leftist thought that believes that what is most progressive and achievable
nowadays is to devise and construct improvements in the administration of capitalism in other
words, to promote its good 7 side and another stance, which presents anti capitalism from a purely
theoretical perspective, regardless of the political viability of their proposals.

Germline Engineering and Reprogenetic Technologies Essay
Modern technologies are constantly advancing in a multitude of ways to the degree that scientists
have gained enough knowledgeable about the human genome to be able to find specific genes
during the embryonic stage of reproduction. Scientists have already begun to use this knowledge to
allow parents the ability to select the sex of their child and screen for genetic diseases via
preimplantation genetic diagnosis(PGD) with in vitro fertilization (IVF). Sex selection has already
created world wide discussion regarding the ethics of such a situation. However, scientists are now
looking toward germline engineering which will essentially allow parents to select and alter genetic

Darnovsky suggests that although many genetic scientists support germline engineering because it
can potentially resist transfer of hereditary mutations, these scientists fail to mention that
preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) does the same effect in allowing a technician to screen
embryos for traces of diseases and simply deliver any non infected embryos to the mother s body.
In conjunction, Darnovsky endorses the alternative of prenatal screening with the option of
abortion to avoid the use of in vitro fertilization. Cohan, however, observes that it would dubious for
the Court to restrict a woman s reproductive rights to use germline technology while people are
already using reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization, artificial insemination, and
surrogacy. He asserts that the right to use these reproductive technologies is protected by law, and
implies that it would be hypocritical for the government to restrict use of germline technology while
these other reproductive technologies are still in effect.
Although Cohan insists that germline engineering could potentially infuse good behavior habits
into children, Darnovsky asserts that the technology has the potential to encourage the view that

Psychoanalytical Theories That Show How Healthy Development
Christos Vagenas
Azusa Pacific University The stages of development are psychoanalytical theories that show how
healthy development in an individual should be from the age of adolescence to adult hood as
described in the Invitation to the Life Span by Kathleen Berger (Berger, 2010). I interviewed an
eighteen year old female who is currently a freshman at a four year university, the youngest in her
family. In addition, I interviewed a man in his early fifties who has two kids and a wife. This
individual owns a business that he started thirty years ago. These interviews and responses coincide
and differentiate in many ways. This portrays a contrast in their developmental stages, while
including how their faith has been a key factor in their development.

The eighteen year old interviewee comes from a family of five with two older siblings, a mother
and father. During the interview, the eighteen year old interviewee stated that she felt that she is
more knowledgeable with her life experiences. This relates to the social learning theory where an
individuals behavior and knowledge is emphasized through their observations from birth to adult
hood (Berger, 2010). She included that she enjoys social learning because she is an adult, but she
still has time to find out who she is and what she wants to be. However, she still is dependent on
her parents, and living under their roof and finances. Thus, resulting in her not having the full

Management theory constantly evolves when there are new ideas or when there is and intention of
attempts of transforming the theory. Hence this theory can also be called as the condensed theory
To know the history of the management theory is the fundamental task (Sarshar, 2002).
The evolution of management began after the industrial revolution had occurred in Europe and
America, which was in the end of the 19th century. During the evolution of the management theory,
there were many major changes happening, like economic, cultural and technical. The start of the
evolution of the management theory was when there was an introduction to the steam power. That

Scientific management theory
The techniques of the scientific management theory were defined by Frederick W. Taylor. F W
Taylor was a manufacturing manager, but he eventually became a consultant. He introduced four
principles
Principle 1: Study the way workers perform their tasks, gather all the informal jobs, knowledge
that worker possess, and experiment with ways of improving how tasks are performed.
Principle 2: Codify the new methods of performing tasks into written rules and standard operating
procedures.
Principle 3: Carefully select workers who possess skills and abilities that match the needs of the
task and train them to perform according to the established rules and procedures.
Principle 4: Establish a fair or acceptable level of performance for a tasks, and then develop a pay
system that rewards performance about the acceptable level (Jones and George, 2003).
In the 1900 s these principles were known nationally and were applied in many organisations. In
some organisations the managers choose to follow only some of the principles, which led to some
problems. After applying the principles the efficiency of the organisation increased, but instead of
sharing the profit with the workers as specified by Taylor, the managers expected the workers to
work for more hours for that same wages. After a while the workers realised that the increase in the
efficiency in the firm

Cybercrime And Internet Hacking And Its Effect On The...
Cybercrime and internet hacking has been an ongoing issue in contemporary life. Internet hacking
is the practice of modifying or altering computer software and hardware to accomplish a goal
considered to be outside of the creator s original objective. (Merriam Webster). Any individual,
business, or even government with a computeris not safe from these computer criminals. So, the
main question is: How do we fix this cybercrime that does millions of dollars in damage, and
should we implement ethical hacking to improve the securityof the internet? It is obvious that
hacking is one of the many popular topics that the millions of users of the World Wide Web
search for, because whenever you type the word hacking on google, hundreds of millions of
results appear only in merely seconds. The English word hacking means the changing of a system
to work in ways not intended by the owner, which is in most cases illegal. Hacking does not only
stop on hacking other peoples computers , or someone s account on social networks, however it
can be hacking banks, websites, and companies. The main problem for the government or IT
companies is that they cannot stop the people from accidentally downloading hacked software.
People are tricked into thinking that things on the internet are free and they will download music,
movies, and games for free from random websites. What people do not know is that nothing is

Essay about Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness
Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness
The novella Heart of Darkness illustrates readers with three different types of depictions that men
had of women during the late 1800 s; also known as the imperialistic era. These depictions were as
follows; the naive woman, the mistress, and the wealthy widow. The naГЇve woman was
personified by Kurtz intended. The mistress was personified by the native African woman. The
wealthy widow is personified by Marlow s aunt. This assumption can be made on various levels.
The most obvious level is how Joseph Conrad never gave these characters names. Also when they
are mentioned it is very brief.
Kurtz s intended is the naГЇve character. She is alone and waiting for Kurtz for as long ... Show

The small part that she has in this novella she manages to sound like a naГЇve woman.
The second character that we are introduced to is Kurtz s African mistress. The mistress is a
beautiful woman who seems to evoke some sort of control over the men. Whenever she is
mentioned the men just stand there as if in awe. She never speaks in the novella. During the late
1800 s it was acceptable for men to have mistress , I believe that is what Conrad tried to show.
That s why Kurtz s intended never questioned why he was taking so long. She probably knew he
had a mistress and couldn t really say anything against it. The mistress managed to gain some type
of control over Kurtz, and that is why he hadn t left yet. Even Marlow was in awe when he saw
the beautiful native woman with jewelry on. Perhaps she was a wealthy woman, and that s why the
people respected her.
The last female character that I will examine is Marlow s aunt. She is perhaps a wealthy widow,
who also has nothing better to do with her money. She believes strongly on the topic of
imperialism. She thinks that it helps people progress. She was the one who got Marlow this
opportunity. Marlow s aunt is the combination of both characters. She was naГЇve and controlling
at the same time. Conrad probably used this character to show readers how older women were in
the past.
Its amazing to see how men stereotyped women in the past it hasn t

Why People Believe In Bigfoot
foot Bigfoot is by far one of the most controversial creatures in all of history. Generally, it is
described as a large, hairy, ape like creature. It is reported to have many physical similarities to an
ape, however it walks on two legs like us humans. Just as its name clearly states, Bigfoot is said
to have very, very large feet. The range of its height is between 6 10 feet tall and it is said to be
either brownish or reddish in color. There are many reasons to why people believe in Bigfoot.
The most obvious reason is because of the proof . For hundreds of years people from different
nations have claimed to have spotted or found evidence of the beast out in the wild. The first
evidence found in Canada was in the year 1811, by a man who is said to have found large
footprints in the snow,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One main reason for this is because of the lack of legit proof. The reality is that the vast
majorities of Bigfoot sightings are hoaxes which have been proven to be fake. The small
percentage of actual sightings could easily have been a mistake of seeing some animal on its two
legs, or something of that kind. Also, there has never been actual Bigfoot bones or fossils found
anywhere. Basically, there isn t enough any solid proof to support the fact that Bigfoot actually
exists. Personally, I do not believe that Bigfoot exists. In my opinion, the photographs and video
footage people have captured are incredibly blurry and not very clear to see whether it is an actual
beast or a human in some sort of costume. The evidence that Bigfoot exists is too shaky for me to
believe in a creature this controversial. There are no historical facts that show that a creature like
Bigfoot had ever existed. Also, if people believe that there is a whole species of Bigfoot living in
the wild, how come no one has captured one yet or found out where the species

price that Thomas Foods should be concerned with is the possible fluctuation of weather conditions.
Thomas Foods is interested in determining whether or not hedge accounting would be the best
solution to protect the company s operating income. If the company elects to implement a hedge
accounting system, the Controller of the company must be informed of the accounting treatments
involved when dealing with cash flow and fair value hedge accounting, the two most common
forms of hedge accounting.
Issues:
1.Will implementing a hedging strategy help to alleviate the risks of price increases and benefit
Thomas Foods financially when it comes to purchasing produce from local farmers?
2.Which hedge accounting strategy or alternative method will be most beneficial to Thomas Foods
and ensure minimal loss in operating income?
3.How can the accounting treatments of the newly implemented strategy be best explained to the
Controller of Thomas Foods?
Conclusions:
1.Hedge accounting strategies are best implemented when dealing with transactions from the
original source. In this particular situation, the local farmer would be considered the original source
because he

It Was A Beautiful Day And William Was Playing With His...
It was a beautiful day and William was playing with his best friend Benedict. Will glanced
around at the vast interior of the house searching for Benedict, who was hiding from him
somewhere inside. His search for his friend took him all over the house and he had searched just
about anywhere. He was losing hope of winning this round and was ready to give in when he
saw a door. Except he had never seen this door before and was about to enter when Benedict
called out to him from across the house. Will rushed over to him and they started talking. Ha Ha,
I won, gloated Benedict. Yeah, yeah. Hey where were you hiding anyway? Will asked. I was
hiding behind this chair in the corner. I m surprised you didn t find me because you walked past...

The old looking door near the ladder to the attic. I ve never noticed it before but I figured you
would know, Will. There is no room near the attic William and there never has been. Now it s a
lovely day outside, why don t you and Benedict go and play outside, His grandfather suggested.
Will and Ben turned to leave and left the study. They wandered about the house while thinking
about his grandfather s words. Suddenly he grabbed Ben and set out to find the door again. As
they stood outside the door they gathered up their courage and opened the door. They walked
into an empty room and were greeted by the sight of another door looming in front of them. The
boys sauntered up to the door and opened it without a second thought and walked inside. As they
stared at the contents of the room, the boys noticed only one noticeable change. There was a
table in the middle of the room but apart from that the room was exactly the same. Will gave Ben
a confused glance and walked cautiously up to the table. He placed his hand on the table expecting
something horrible to happen but nothing did. His eyes wandered about the room again until they
rested on a door that was completely identical to the one him and Ben had just come through. Ben
grabbed Will and walked toward the door, but this time without the confidence of before. He slowly
opened the door and

Views Of Secular Humanism
What is Secular Humanism? It is humanism, with regard to the belief that humanity is capable of
morality and self fulfillment without belief in God. Christian worldviews are based on the bible, we
believe that God created the all. Secular Humanist are critical thinkers, focused on modern beliefs
without having any religious ties. Many Christians and proponents of secular humanismshare a
commitment to reason, free inquiry, the separation of church and state, the ideal of freedom, and
moral education; however, they differ in many areas. Secular humanists base their morality and
ideas about justice on critical intelligence unaided by Scripture, which Christians rely on for
knowledge concerning right and wrong, good and evil. (3)
1.The Question ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to the question of origin, Christianity and Humanism have opposites beliefs.
Christians believe that God is the creator of the universe and all living things. Humanist believes
that there is a scientific reason for our creation.
2.The Question of Identity:
i.Secular Humanist believe that humans evolved from apelike ancestors. To the secularist, we are
nothing more than an advanced animal (Weider
Gutierrez, 2011, p. 57), or a bunch of cells and atoms. ii. Christians believe God created humans
in his image and likeness. Humans are lower than the angels but above all living things. For
Humanist, Humans are simply part of evolution and that life is not sacred. We as humans do not
have meaning but in the eyes of a Christian, we are part of God s greatest creation.
3.The Question of Meaning/Purpose (What is humanity s purpose?)
i.According to the Third Humanist Manifesto, meaning and purpose in life is found in forming
relationships, bettering society, and bettering oneself ( Humanism..., 2003). Noebel (2008),
however, revealed another goal of secular humanists: to wage war against Christianity in the
education system and political area and replace it their own man centered philosophies.Compare
and contrast this with how the biblical worldview would answer this question.

Walking Into A Normalized Prison
INTRODUCTION
As you walk into a haunted house, you are surrounded by complete darkness you do not know
where you are, where your friends are, what s going to happen, when someone will jump out at
you to scare you, if someone is following you, or even if someone is watching you. Your pupils
dilate and your heart beat intensifies. You try to understand your surroundings by carefully
stepping one foot in front of the other and extending your arms out to feel for what s around you;
you even yell to see if there are people around to listen to you. This feeling of being lost, helpless,
anxious, and scared is how prisoners feel every moment when they are in prison. They do not know

In the introduction, I have walked you into a prisoner s shoes to help you think about their daily
lives in an isolated and marginalized prison. Understanding their daily lives will allow you to
connect to the prisoner s emotions and feelings on a more comfortable and empathetic level.
Here, I have briefly introduced to you the ideas that will be presented and analyzed in this paper:
the invisibility and visibility, and discipline and normalization. In the theoretical and conceptual
framework section, I will thoroughly define and describe the ideas of discipline and
normalization, prison architecture, and visibility and invisibility within prison architecture, as
presented by Michel Foucault, author of the book Discipline and Punish, to help you better
understand my analysis. The analysis section will serve primarily to analyze the visibility and
invisibility of prison architecture to achieve my goal of showing you how this element of prison
architecture fails to create disciplined and normal prisoners. I will analyze parts of Dominique
Moran s book, Carceral Spaces: Mobility and Agency in Imprisonment and Migrant Detention, and
the chapter, Panopticism, from Michel Foucault s book, Discipline and Punish. I will conclude that
by analyzing the visibility and invisibility in prison architecture, we can see that prisons fail to
discipline and normalize a prisoner to be able to reintegrate back into mainstream

Samurai and knights always battling out in the battlefield. During this time both knights and
samurai were fighting for protection. Both were developing codes such as Chivalry and Bushido.
Both had a some sort of leader weather it s a shogun or a pope. Some historians will argue that
samurai and knights are more different than similar, but they are more similar than different. The
samuraiand knights were more similar than different because they had similar armor and they had
the same type of social pyramid.
First of all the knights and samurai both wore armor. It states in document D that in samurai armor
they were put together with tiny iron scales. The knights had one big body suit of armor in one

Humanity Is The Duty Of Humanity
Humanity has not learned yet Humanity cannot be defined in two simple terms. Two words are not
enough to completely encompass everyone and everything, but that is exactly what humans do. It
is the duty of humanity to learn and grow which is why mankind must formulate more concise and
clear definitions of good and evil. It is flabbergasting that the humanspecies has not been intelligent
enough to learn this lesson yet. Continuing, the current definition of evil is too relative to be the
same for every human being. Consider the question, do humanshave the right to do whatever they
can to survive? Secondly, look at Thomas Hobbes point of view on the social contractand finally
reflect on William Golding s Lord of the flies for a unique perspective on human nature in
extraneous situations. Humanity in the past has wiped out species, demolished forests, and dumped
an ocean s worth of CO2in the atmosphere. The average person would see these examples as
abominable, however, we did not at the time and they are still heavily debated topics. If mankind
cannot decide exactly what is acceptable, then why do humans try to? Humanity should author a
system in which it defines things as acceptable or not while taking into account the relativity. One
cannot endeavor to define all of humanity or what they currently consider commencible, as a part of
the duty to themselves, they must respect each other s opinions in all situations. To conclude, when
defining human nature it is of the

That is, in order to remain economically and politically exist, a country most export more than it

of mercantilism is that national wealth will came through the accumulation of gold or other

high volume of this surgery performed at GHC and the age of the cataract patient being 65 years

Similarities And Similarities Between Francis Bacon And...
The personal lives of great artists are often the most tragic; neglectful parents, drug addictions, failed
relationships, and mental instability seem to the most common tropes. The British painter Francis
Bacon and Anna Kavan, born as Helen Woods, are no exception. The similarities between their
personal lives and artistic creations are striking. Both had the misfortune of neglectful parents, both
moved from country to country throughout their lives, both were addicted to either heroin or
alcohol, but both created gruesome and masterful works of art. Anna Kavans mother was detached
and negligent. Both of Kavan s two marriages failed. She became addicted to heroin in her
twenties as a way to self medicate for her depression. She spent time in insane asylums towards
the end of her life. Francis Bacon s parents were far from caring; his father exiled him after
Bacon expressed his homosexuality. After being entrusted to the care of a family friend, he fell
in love with the older man that whisked him around the European continent. He began painting
after seeing an exhibit of Pablo Picasso s work and took many years to find success with this
trade. Often he resorted to alcohol and held private, and very illegal, gambling clubs to make a
sort of income. He entered an extremely mentally and physically abusive relationship. These
adversities from personal lives influenced the work of both individuals to a tremendous degree.
Characters in Kavan s stories are frequently a kind of autobiography Anna Kavan was one of her
character s names that Helen Woods eventually adopted after a mental breakdown. Francis Bacon s
work pictured many of his acquaintance and lovers, scenes of homosexuality, and scenes of pain.
Understanding the individuals personal circumstances adds a new layer of meaning and
interpretation to their creations. A most encompassing comparison of the two individuals is that
they both produced works of cosmic horror; however, it is not entirely the typical Lovecraftian
horror associated with the genre. Bacon s paintings as visual experiences are quite unlike other
works considered to be cosmic horror; however, their unconventionality does not exclude them.
Rather than focusing on the fear of the

The Liberation From England s Despotism
In a very short time, the United States grew from thirteen small colonies that were governed by
a monarchy over 3,000 miles away into a self sustaining democratic nation of fifty states. The
liberation from England s despotism occurred not by accident or happenstance, but from a
collective whole of society whose moral resolve led to the famous phrase Life, Liberty, and the
pursuit of happiness (National Archives, 1776) written in America s Declaration of
Independence 239 years ago. These certain inalienable rights are our nation s backbone for what
we stand for and what we believe in. Our government, the government our forefather s created, is
responsible for the freedoms we experience on a daily basis. However, what are we doing as a
nation to ensure that the same rights and reasons for which they fought for are being preserved
so that we not only retain our present way of life but also improve upon it for ourselves and
future generations to come? When government is spoken of often it sounds as if it is its own
entity enabled to make its own decisions free from repercussions as well as accountability. As if it
was a person that could be disciplined for misbehaving. The government did this...or the
government did that...or can you believe what they are doing in Washington? Have we forgotten
what President Lincoln said in his Gettysburg Address: ...That the nation, shall have a new birth of
freedom, and that government of the people by the people for the people, shall not

Tobacco Products Cause And Effects
Introduction
Tobacco products, specifically cigarettes, are products that usually cause a slow, painful death. If
death is not eventually caused as a direct result of tobacco products, they can still result in various
other debilitating illnesses. It is not only health that the use of tobacco products causes to decline,
but also the monetary security of the individual indulging in these items. Whether it is money or
health, tobacco products cause severe degradation in both categories. Cigarettes and other items
such as snuff can be both directly and indirectly linked to many thousand cases of death and illness
each year in the United States. There is no benefit to be gained from use of these harmful reagents,
and for that reason a debilitating excise tax should be placed on tobacco products.
Addiction
All forms of tobacco, such as snuff, cigars, cigarettes, and chewing tobacco, contain the drug
nicotine, which accounts for the addictive nature of these products. Nicotine is absorbed into the
bloodstream when it is introduced to the body, this principle applies whether the tobacco is inhaled,
smoked, or chewed. When nicotine enters the bloodstream, it instantaneously begins to stimulate
the adrenal glands, otherwise known as the glands that produce adrenaline within the human body.
This adrenaline, also known as the hormone epinephrine, prompts the central nervous system of the
individual to increase things such as blood pressure, respiration, and heart rate (DrugFacts:

Delight In Disorder By Ben Herrick Summary
The poems Delight in Disorder by Robert Herrick and Still to be Neat by Ben Johnson display
similar themes. Both poems are written about natural beauty, Delight in Disorder , focuses more
on the careless beauty while Still to be Neat focuses on the simplicity of natural beauty. Although
these two poems are extremely similar because of their themes they are also different. Both authors
aim to unveil the true meaning of beauty through being natural and having a balance between
disorder and order in one s appearance. In Delight in disorder , Herrick describes a womanthat is
dressed without extreme care and her detail is more enticing and captivating than a woman who
has put all their energy and effort into dressing up. Herrick writes in lines 11 14, A careless
shoestring, in whose tie I see a wild civility; Do more bewitch me than when art is too precise in
every part (766), in these lines he is describing the elegance of the woman s imperfections.
Herrick is emphasizing in his poem that if a woman takes extreme care in her appearance it can
make her seem rigid and uptight. Herrick believes that a woman whose appearance is
disorganized comes across as easy going, and more approachable. Ben Johnson s, Still to be Neat
, the woman is described in line 9 as neatly dressed from her hair to her makeup along with her
loosely flowing clothes (767). Johnson is describing that he prefers and natural beauty rather than
the artificial beauty described in the poem. The

I will describe all the details I see in the paintings and come up with a conclusion of what the artist was trying to accomplish, and then conducting research to combine my thoughts with the actual meaning of the artwork. After researching, I will determine if the artist was successful in what I found they tried to accomplish in this artwork. The first five minutes I spent staring at the artwork, all I saw were lines, figures, and colors. Two hours pass and I started noticing details I had not seen before. Through these two artworks, I caught a glimpse into the artist s mind and became the storyteller rather... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The right side, where the women and window are located, has much brighter colors like white, yellow, and brighter blues. In the center of the artwork is a red outline of a women. The women is on her knees and hands. The arc in her back gives the sensation of vulnerability. My first explanation for this artwork is that the artist is showing a woman reflecting on her past and not being happy with what she has done. Her shadow or her decisions are haunting her present life. With the white gown, I can make the assumption that she is getting married and is looking at her past, maybe reminiscing on about another lover. She could have been young and in love. Made a couple of wrong decisions and was heartbroken. She is now afraid to love again but knows that she has a brighter future ahead of her which is why there appears to be light coming from the windows direction. The small women figure in the center of the painting could be a symbolization of her not wanting to go back to being the vulnerable girl she was. Another explanation I came up with for this artwork was centered on the anger or maybe even jealousy that her face expression portrays. By marrying, she will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Banjo does this to persuade the reader in believing that the country lifestyle which is portrayed as free, clean and laid back is better than the city lifestyle which is portrayed as dirty, hot and boring. Banjo also makes the reader believe that the attractiveness of living off the land and idealizing the country life as a drover making the quality of life in the country seems greater than in the city. Banjo uses imagery and the first person point of view to help the reader imagine what it would be like to be a drover. The person living in the city imagines what Clancy the drover is doing and feeling while he is stuck in a hot office all day. As the stock are slowly stringing, Clancy rides behind them singing and also He sees the vision splendid of the sunlit plains extended and at night the wondrous glory of the everlasting stars. The city living character is conveying what Clancy the drover is doing and how peaceful it would be if he could do the same. He also says And I somehow fancy that I d like to change with Clancy. This suggests that the city living character is somewhat jealous of Clancy, his job and his lifestyle. • 12. Hart s Concept Of The Existence Of A Legal System Hart s concept of the existence of a legal system is made out of these three differences. Behind the concept is a structure built with great care. Thus far perhaps this Article has injured only the surface of the network and has not yet come to grasps with Hart s concept of law. Rolf Sartorius would agree, for he contends that Hart s two minimum conditions for the existence of a legal system establish nothing more than purely formal criteria for the existence of a legal system. As such, they could be satisfied by the rules, officials, and players of the National Football League, as well as many other rule administered social organizations. It will prove informative to intensify and study Sartorius s position to provide a firmer grasp of Hart s concept of the existence of a legal system and of the connection between this concept and Hart s concept of law. Sartorius contends that Hart surely is aware of the inadequacy of defining law and morals in formal terms. The two minimum conditions for the existence of a legal system, Sartorius struggles, are relevant neither to Hart s concept of a legal system nor to his concept of law: If one is intending upon removing from Hart s analysis a definition of legal system , indeed, if one wants a complete picture of Hart s concept of law, one must put together: (1)what is said about the union of primary and secondary rules with (2)what Hart contends is the minimal content of Natural Law shared by both law and morals, and then combine ... The lighting in Mystic River plays a big role in setting the mood of the movie. The movie starts off quite dull and brown in color, but after Dave was taken away by the pedophiles the movie got even darker and continued to stay brown and depressing until Dave died. Early in the twentieth century, a group of daring visionaries and entrepreneurs began to dream of expanding the local business community and creating new industries to take advantage of Floridas climate with its sunshine and warmth. Chief among these businesses they envisioned a winter tourism trade but to realize this dream they would require a strong transportation infrastructure. After World War I, a flourishing trade developed with steamers such as the 1,700 gross ton ss City of Miami and the 3,200 gross ton ss Northland, maintaining overnight runs between Miami and Havana. The Plague is called the Black Death which kills thirty percent of Europe s population. This story explains how serious this disease is because it shows how men and women fled from Florence to a countryside to prevent from catching it. The disease is carried by flees, unfortunately, there were rats on the ships heading to Europe, the flees would bite the rats and then the flees bite the humans who eventually contracted this disease. • 37. Essay about Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness Joseph Conrad s The Women of Heart of Darkness The novella Heart of Darkness illustrates readers with three different types of depictions that men had of women during the late 1800 s; also known as the imperialistic era. These depictions were as follows; the naive woman, the mistress, and the wealthy widow. The naГЇve woman was personified by Kurtz intended. The mistress was personified by the native African woman. The wealthy widow is personified by Marlow s aunt. This assumption can be made on various levels. The most obvious level is how Joseph Conrad never gave these characters names. Also when they are mentioned it is very brief. Kurtz s intended is the naГЇve character. She is alone and waiting for Kurtz for as long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The small part that she has in this novella she manages to sound like a naГЇve woman. The second character that we are introduced to is Kurtz s African mistress. The mistress is a beautiful woman who seems to evoke some sort of control over the men. Whenever she is mentioned the men just stand there as if in awe. She never speaks in the novella. During the late 1800 s it was acceptable for men to have mistress , I believe that is what Conrad tried to show. That s why Kurtz s intended never questioned why he was taking so long. She probably knew he had a mistress and couldn t really say anything against it. The mistress managed to gain some type of control over Kurtz, and that is why he hadn t left yet. Even Marlow was in awe when he saw the beautiful native woman with jewelry on. Perhaps she was a wealthy woman, and that s why the people respected her. The last female character that I will examine is Marlow s aunt. She is perhaps a wealthy widow, who also has nothing better to do with her money. She believes strongly on the topic of imperialism. She thinks that it helps people progress. She was the one who got Marlow this opportunity. Marlow s aunt is the combination of both characters. She was naГЇve and controlling at the same time. Conrad probably used this character to show readers how older women were in the past. Its amazing to see how men stereotyped women in the past it hasn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Why People Believe In Bigfoot foot Bigfoot is by far one of the most controversial creatures in all of history. Generally, it is described as a large, hairy, ape like creature. It is reported to have many physical similarities to an ape, however it walks on two legs like us humans. Just as its name clearly states, Bigfoot is said to have very, very large feet. The range of its height is between 6 10 feet tall and it is said to be either brownish or reddish in color. There are many reasons to why people believe in Bigfoot. The most obvious reason is because of the proof . For hundreds of years people from different nations have claimed to have spotted or found evidence of the beast out in the wild. The first evidence found in Canada was in the year 1811, by a man who is said to have found large footprints in the snow,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One main reason for this is because of the lack of legit proof. The reality is that the vast majorities of Bigfoot sightings are hoaxes which have been proven to be fake. The small percentage of actual sightings could easily have been a mistake of seeing some animal on its two legs, or something of that kind. Also, there has never been actual Bigfoot bones or fossils found anywhere. Basically, there isn t enough any solid proof to support the fact that Bigfoot actually exists. Personally, I do not believe that Bigfoot exists. In my opinion, the photographs and video footage people have captured are incredibly blurry and not very clear to see whether it is an actual beast or a human in some sort of costume. The evidence that Bigfoot exists is too shaky for me to believe in a creature this controversial. There are no historical facts that show that a creature like Bigfoot had ever existed. Also, if people believe that there is a whole species of Bigfoot living in the wild, how come no one has captured one yet or found out where the species ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 51. Similarities And Similarities Between Francis Bacon And... The personal lives of great artists are often the most tragic; neglectful parents, drug addictions, failed relationships, and mental instability seem to the most common tropes. The British painter Francis Bacon and Anna Kavan, born as Helen Woods, are no exception. The similarities between their personal lives and artistic creations are striking. Both had the misfortune of neglectful parents, both moved from country to country throughout their lives, both were addicted to either heroin or alcohol, but both created gruesome and masterful works of art. Anna Kavans mother was detached and negligent. Both of Kavan s two marriages failed. She became addicted to heroin in her twenties as a way to self medicate for her depression. She spent time in insane asylums towards the end of her life. Francis Bacon s parents were far from caring; his father exiled him after Bacon expressed his homosexuality. After being entrusted to the care of a family friend, he fell in love with the older man that whisked him around the European continent. He began painting after seeing an exhibit of Pablo Picasso s work and took many years to find success with this trade. Often he resorted to alcohol and held private, and very illegal, gambling clubs to make a sort of income. He entered an extremely mentally and physically abusive relationship. These adversities from personal lives influenced the work of both individuals to a tremendous degree. Characters in Kavan s stories are frequently a kind of autobiography Anna Kavan was one of her character s names that Helen Woods eventually adopted after a mental breakdown. Francis Bacon s work pictured many of his acquaintance and lovers, scenes of homosexuality, and scenes of pain. Understanding the individuals personal circumstances adds a new layer of meaning and interpretation to their creations. A most encompassing comparison of the two individuals is that they both produced works of cosmic horror; however, it is not entirely the typical Lovecraftian horror associated with the genre. It is not only health that the use of tobacco products causes to decline, but also the monetary security of the individual indulging in these items. Whether it is money or health, tobacco products cause severe degradation in both categories. Cigarettes and other items such as snuff can be both directly and indirectly linked to many thousand cases of death and illness each year in the United States. Although these two poems are extremely similar because of their themes they are also different. Both authors aim to unveil the true meaning of beauty through being natural and having a balance between disorder and order in one s appearance.
