indigenous with exotic strains of chickens is one of the main factors that can improve food and
nutrition security in southern Africa. In this paper, ways in which the quality and quantity of poultry
meat and eggs can be improved for sustainable food and nutrition security in southern Africa, with
emphasis on crossbreeding as a prospective food security (protein) stability technique are discussed.
This paper is based on critical analysis of the literature and discusses and evaluates various
crossbreeding methods of chickens that have been carried out in African countries. Comparative
studies on the implementation, failures and successes of crossbreeding of chickens in African
countries, such as Egypt, Botswana, Malawi and South Africa among others are reviewed.
Crossbreeding, combined with selection, information dissemination, improved management and
technology, is recommended for the geometric increase in poultry meat and egg production in

Gurrola. Although she wasn t my favorite teacher at the time, today is she is one of my most

program at my school, Ms. Gurrola s math class was one of the most challenging because I had never
taken a math class in Spanish before and although Spanish is my first language the terminology was

attitude. She knew her subject matter very well and was always open to helping her students whenever

start a whole new life. The Irish had to do just this. The potato completely changed Ireland when it
was introduced to the country in the late 1500s. The nutritious food supported this country in more
ways than one. But disaster struck in the mid 1800s when the Potato Famine, otherwise known as the
Great Hunger, began, causing millions of Irish to emigrate from their country and start new lives in

Walter J. Paulits examines the character Goodman Brown through his actions of attending a meeting
with the witches and falling for the temptations of the Devil. Goodman Brown was a man of good

James Buchanan was an unsuccessful president due to his unwillingness to see the national effects of
his decisions on slavery. In his inaugural address, Buchanan signaled his desire to serve as a
peacemaker. At the time of his election to President in 1856 under the Democratic nomination, few
people expected him to have Republicans in the cabinet. Yet he almost had no Democratic
representation. Regardless of the appointees to his cabinet, Buchanan was stubborn and stuck to his
own views, either choosing not to see the effects slavery had on the nation, or simply being clueless to
the repercussions. James Buchanan supported the Dred Scott case in the Supreme Court, was in favor
of the Kansas Nebraska act, and created stronger sectionalism, greatly affecting the political parties.
To begin with, James Buchanan supported the Supreme Court s decision in the case of Dred Scott and
his fight for freedom. Dred Scott was a slave who was taken from where he was initially working in
Missouri, to a new posts in Illinois and what are now some regions in Minnesota, by his owner. After
being brought to these areas, Scott claimed that he was actually a free man, since he now stood on free
territory. Calling attention to the courts, his pleas were recognized and he received a full hearing. After

traditional southern upbringing, she struggles to find her place in society where the values of a
Southern Belle are no longer relevant nor exist. Blanche Dubois is portrayed as the weaker sex, who is
then over powered by Stanley Kowalski, her sister s working class husband. Blanche Dubois shows a
great psychological instability when she is unable to live up to the expectations of a classic and proper
Southern Belle. This psychological instability ultimately leads to her to have a metal breakdown, the
play ends with Blanche being committed to a mental institution.
Blanche Dubois was raised on the social standard of Southern Belle and her primary goal in life was,
