Dell Corporate Strategy
Corporate Strategy The economic activities performed by Dell encompass the development,
manufacturing, sale and support of personal computers and computer related products. Since its
foundation, the company has been based on the Direct Model, i.e. Dell has always tried and managed
to create direct relationships with its customers, by selling products directly and without the
participation of intermediaries. The sale has always taken place through a telephone service or via the
Internet. In order to accomplish its goal of being as fast as possible in the delivery of the customized
products it supplies, Dell has created an ample network of manufacturing plants around the world. The
corporation is present in each continent and in most of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even on the manufacturing side, Dell seems to have been reconsidering its position. The company has
not lately been as much as profitable it would like and some of the reasons for such performance have
been allocated to the fact that the company owns its manufacturing plants. For this reason, the
company would have approached some contract manufacturers to take over what in the 1990s was the
envy of its competitors: its production plants. Products The products that Dell produces encompass the
following categories: Desktop PCs Mobility Servers and Networking Storage Services Software and
Peripherals From the figures issued by the company (see chart A), it is possible to understand the
vastest product categories Dell relies on are those of Desktop PCs and Mobility, which account for
more than 50% of the total revenues coming into the company. However, it is worth pointing out that
the revenues originated by PCs are quite stable, since it is not possible to notice great increases in this
business area, whereas the growth of the revenues in other areas, such as mobility or servers, are much
more noticeable and reach even the double digits. The corporation aims at attracting specific market
segments, by marketing different brands. In fact, Dell produces a line of products completely destined
to the market segment of business. In the class of BUSINESS PRODUCTS, the company s

Ronald Reagan Speech Ethos Pathos Logos
June 6, 1944. A day that people will remember forever. A day that men sacrificed their lives for liberty.
It had been forty years since World War 2 had left its impact on the world. On the sixth of June, 1984,
Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States, stood at Pointe du Hoc and delivered a powerful
speech to the veterans of D Day. The same spot the Allied armies ran up the coast to fight against the
Nazi tyranny. Behind President Reagan was a stone memorial that symbolized the rangers that took
these cliffs. Reagan explained: These are the boys of Pointe du Hoc. These are the men who took the
cliffs. These are the champions who helped free a continent. These are the heroes who helped end a
war (American Rhetoric). President Reagan s speech stormed the audience with a strong emotion that
brought tears to the eyes. The purpose was to honor those who risked their lives that day to fight
against tyranny. Reagan emphasized the loyalty and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethos is the appeal to ethics, pathos is the appeal to emotion, and logos is the appeal to logic (
examples.yourdictionary.com ). Reagan uses a lot of pathos in his speech to the veterans to show
importance. As an example, All of these men were part of a roll call of honor with names that spoke of
a pride as bright as the colors they bore.. (American Rhetoric). The appeal of pathos is used in this
speech a lot to express strong emotion. Reagan uses this device to capture the audience s attention like
when he said, The air is soft, but forty years ago at this moment, the air was dense with smoke and the
cries of men, and the air was filled with the crack of rifle fire and the roar of cannon. Finally, Reagan
includes logos to state facts about events that happened on the day of June 6th, 1944. He explains, And
so, the night before the invasion, when Colonel Wolverton asked his parachute troops to kneel with
him in prayer.. (American

The uses of Firearms by civilians are very dangerous, and its history needs to be studied. Many wars
and accidents in civic life made many countries prohibit keeping guns and firearms by individuals, but
there are some other countries that continue to keep guns, such as the United States and the United
Kingdom. I will focus on the gun culture in the United Kingdom from 1689 to 1997. Because the
Unite King start allowing individual keeping guns by Bill of Rights in 1689, the 1689 Bill of Right
guaranteed British subject certain rights. People consider that it was a manifestation of their right and
freedom, but after some guns accidents that made citizen scare, they change their constitution in 1997.

mean government was not creating that having the right to bear arms, but it seems a traditional right of
the people who live in the Unite Kingdom. That the raising or keeping a standing army within the
kingdom in time to peace, unless it be with consent of parliament, is against the law. (The Queen s
peace) The traditional of militia free to use arms is a mistake. The writer argued that English right to
bear arms was a collective right and it was not for the citizen. The government always want to protect
their political power, however individual did not understand this point,so, they David B.Kopel

to keep firearms. This culture was become people s usual practice. Keeping guns was a emblem for
the democratic. Firearms originally can protect people; then it changes to hurt people. Another
plausible answer is that the parliament passed the handgun ban in 1997. It means gun owners must
apply for a license. There were two famous killers in United

Rural Food Security And Nutrition
The potential of crossbreeding indigenous chickens to improve rural food security and nutrition in
southern Africa a review
Abstract
The need to increase poultry production in southern Africa to meet the increasing protein requirement
of the growing population is becoming a great concern. The quality of poultry meat and eggs produced
in terms of taste, texture, flavour and leanness are of importance to consumers. Crossbreeding
indigenous with exotic strains of chickens is one of the main factors that can improve food and
nutrition security in southern Africa. In this paper, ways in which the quality and quantity of poultry
meat and eggs can be improved for sustainable food and nutrition security in southern Africa, with
emphasis on crossbreeding as a prospective food security (protein) stability technique are discussed.
This paper is based on critical analysis of the literature and discusses and evaluates various
crossbreeding methods of chickens that have been carried out in African countries. Comparative
studies on the implementation, failures and successes of crossbreeding of chickens in African
countries, such as Egypt, Botswana, Malawi and South Africa among others are reviewed.
Crossbreeding, combined with selection, information dissemination, improved management and
technology, is recommended for the geometric increase in poultry meat and egg production in
southern Africa to improve food and nutrition security.

Rocky Mountain Research Paper
The Rocky Mountains are an incredible mountain range located in North America in the Western
Hemisphere. The mountain range stretches from northern Colorado and into southwestern Canada. It
is home to a diverse ecosystem, both geographically and biologically and is revered as a monumental
landform worldwide. The geologic history of the Rocky Mountains has come about as an aggregation
of millions of years. Briefly speaking, the formation of the Rockies transpired from hundreds and
millions of years of uplift by tectonic plates and millions of years of erosion and ice have helped
sculpt the mountains to be what we see today. The majority of the rocks that make up the Rocky
Mountains began as simple shale, siltstone, and sandstone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado states that there are 150 lakes and 450 miles of streams.
This kind of wetland ecosystem is prominent for featuring dense wildlife environments in which elk,
moose, big horn sheep, black bears, and cougars thrive. Furthermore, the Continental Divide is located
in the Rocky Mountains. The Rocky Mountains are widely considered one of the most biologically
diverse regions in the world and the Rocky Mountain s flora and fauna are no exception. Elk herds can
range from 300 to 800 each winter, approximately 350 bighorn sheep, and various mule and deer
populations, along with small geese populations flying overhead. It is precisely this diversity that
makes the Rockies so appealing to tourists every year. In addition, there are 60 other species of
mammals, 280 recorded bird species, six amphibian species (the endangered boreal toad is included),
one reptile (i.e. garter snake), 11 species of fish, and countless species of insects, including a large
number of butterflies. Elk can be seen regularly by visitors during fall rut, or mating season. Elk are
prominent among the meadows and densely populated forests. During the summer, elk are likely to
stay above treeline and move to lower elevations during the seasons of fall, winter, and spring. Also,
elk generally feed around dusk and dawn. Bighorn sheep can be spotted around lakes in the Rocky
Mountains while moose frequent the willows

What Happens If You Expose Individuals To Web Pages Essay
What happens if you expose individuals to web pages for short periods of time? First impressions of
web pages are important to HCI developers as they have been shown as powerful in a variety of
contexts which include studying personal character attributes. There has been multiple research and
experiments where individuals were exposed to web pages for 50 milliseconds and how individuals
formed an opinion of web pages. Notably the works of Lindgaard et al 2006 this study is where the
participants were exposed to a website twice when viewing the website for only 50 milliseconds. The
study showed that individuals can form a reliable first impression whilst only viewing the website for
50 milliseconds. Within the second study conducted by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the research showed us that the relationship between visual appealing ratings fell below
par for twenty two participants for the first and second phase. There was a high correlation between
visual appeal and other characteristics such as the participants noted the web pages were boring, good
design, bad design, bad colour etc... However, there was a rather low correlation amongst visual
appeal, simple complex and a reasonable correlation amongst attractiveness and clear confusing
judgements. By only viewing web pages for 50 milliseconds individuals can form a first impression.
The study of and analysing aesthetic scopes of web page design and how design affects attractiveness
is vital for HCI designers which will enable them to implement and produce a suitable system for
users which meets their requirements. It is imperative that the HCI designer takes into consideration
the necessary factors related to attractiveness and unattractiveness of websites. It is imperative that the
design of the website must include technical and low level aspects making sure that it interacts with
each other. There has been research relating to design concepts. The work of Kim et el., 2003; Park et
al., 2004 where they found out that design features that relate to websites objects, backgrounds and the

Alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes are teratogens that will cause serious problems and defects in a child.
Unfortunately, teratogens and other harmful substances that the mother consumes not only affect the
baby but also affect her. During pregnancy, mothers are sometimes not aware or well informed enough
to know that what they are consuming is having such as serious effects on their baby, because
teratogens can leave some of the most serious birth defects. Information is very important for a mother
to understand completely what they should do during nine months of pregnancy. There are many
facilities that women can go to in order to receive more information about drugs, alcohol, and
smoking cigarettes and the wide ranging of effects that it has their babies. There are also many
facilities for treat if pregnancy women are addicted of drugs or alcohol. If women are informed about
the defects in children that is caused by alcohol and other drugs then will be less abnormalities in
infants. What the mothers consumes, the baby consumes as well too. The abnormalities and defects
mentioned above can be easily prevent if mothers are more responsibilities and take the proper
measures to become informed and are carefully with their unborn babies. If mothers are planning on
having a baby they should go to see a doctor for better information and take care of what they ingest

Biotechnology Advantages And Disadvantages
1. What is Biotechnology?
1.1. A definition of Biotechnology
The exploitation of microorganisms for industrial purposes or processes. (Sterrenberg, 2010) 1.2. Two
advantages of Biotechnology with their advantages and disadvantages Examples:
Antibiotics
Vaccines
Antibiotic destroy bacterial pathogens. Antibiotics have different chemical structures, therefore
destroying pathogenic bacteria differently. There are two manners in which antibiotics can destroy
pathogenic material:
1. The bacterium cell is destroyed by causing the wall of the bacterium to weaken, therefore
disfiguring the cell and forcing the cell to burst, spilling all its contents, and destroying the cell from
spreading its pathogenic bacteria.
2. Antibiotics can take the form of the pathogenic bacterium s metabolism. This completely destroying

Vaccines are used to create immunisation. They are taken orally by injection. Vaccines are a weakened
form of a microorganism. It is injected to create immunity against the specific pathogen injected.
Therefore, creating antibodies and a memory of the reaction to the pathogen. Immunisation is now
created. When the pathogen attacks the body, the antibodies will respond and destroy the pathogen.

Personal Growth At My Father s Hardware Store
Spending the last two years working full time at my father s hardware store has been a period of major
personal growth for me. For the first time, I took on a serious role in the business. I was no longer the
boss son: I was tasked with trying to turn around a business that had been struggling for quite some
time. When I graduated college I knew I wanted a career as an attorney. Prior to committing myself to
law school, I wanted to gain some insight into the legal world through experience. But after six
months I was unable to find a job or internship in the legal field. One summer night over dinner, I was
updating my father on my job search and career prospect, which was difficult to admit. As supportive
as he tried to be, I could see his disappointment. He then proposed I come to work at the hardware
store and see if I could help get it back on track. He no longer had the time or energy to invest into the
business.
I didn t see how working there could be beneficial for me. But after thinking it over for several days, I
realized this might be an exciting opportunity to challenge myself. I was to assume the role of store
manager, a role that is exhausting in a small business where I would be responsible for every single
thing that goes on. I spent the first few days critically and holistically assessing the business, trying to
figure out potential causes of the business decline and how I could help improve it. I noticed how
many customers would walk in and walk out

Mygraphy Of A Teacher Autobiography
My Teacher Autobiography
Since I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher. You can say I come from a family of
teachers because several of my family members are teachers. I enjoy helping others and I love
working with children. I dream of becoming a middle school English teacher in spite of people telling
me I will have a difficult time with the children from that age group. I have had many role models
throughout my life and they have all impacted my life in their own way. My biggest role models have
been my 8th grade math teacher Ms. Gurrola, my maternal grandfather, Higinio, and my 8th grade
Language Arts teacher, Ms. Cordova. All of these individuals in their own way have had a significant
impact on my life and are part of the reason why I choose to become a teacher. By learning about
these people that have meant so much to me you can learn a lot me as a person and how I will be as
teacher.
One of the most memorable and favorite teachers I have had is my eighth grade math teacher Ms.
Gurrola. Although she wasn t my favorite teacher at the time, today is she is one of my most
significant roles models and inspirations for becoming a teacher. Being a new member of the bilingual
program at my school, Ms. Gurrola s math class was one of the most challenging because I had never
taken a math class in Spanish before and although Spanish is my first language the terminology was
new to me. To me, Ms. Gurrola was a great teacher in spite of her strict rules and at times unpleasant
attitude. She knew her subject matter very well and was always open to helping her students whenever
possible. She had a strong accent that made it evident that she was bilingual and that English was not
her first language. It was rumored that she had come to the United States from Mexico with a convent
of nuns but left and became a teacher. I did not realize her value as a teacher until one day that I stayed
after school with her to finish an exam for her class. I was upset with her over something that
happened the previous day in class and I gave her a little bit of attitude that day yet when I went to her
class after school it seemed as if nothing had ever happened. She was helpful and very nice to me.
After I finished the exam

Water Is The Second Largest Reserve Of Freshwater On Earth
The earth is like a living organism; it thrives full of life with a fragile balance. This balance has been
thrown off by many different things. Water seems to be one of the biggest problems with this offset
balance. Water is a magic liquid keeping all of life thriving. Humans drink and use water, plants use
water, water is used in everyday life, and it s slowly being taken away. In the future, there will be no
water left to sustain life on earth. Ground water is a very important part of our fresh water supply and
yet, it s depleting at a faster rate than what can be replenished. According to Kally Worm Groundwater
is the second largest reserve of freshwater on earth. It also makes up 40% of the freshwater used in the
U.S. alone. This ground water is usually found in what is called an aquifer. An aquifer is found
towards the lower layers of the soil. The problem with these aquifers it that their recharge rate is slow
making it non renewable. These water supplies being non re We are overusing these water supplies.
When ground water is used to a level of where it can t recover, it affects the ground. Sinkholes can be
formed when there is a aquifer that has water being drawn from it, but not letting it get back to par.
Other problems can also occur is too much ground water is pumped out near coasts. This creates what
s called salt water intrusion. Salt water intrusion is when the ocean water mixes with the fresh ground
water. This increases the salinity of the water making

Exempt Employees
There are three main factors that Amy should use to determine whether Jane and her fellow shift
workers are exempt or non exempt. The first element is the salary criteria for the employees (Vogel et
al., 2007). All the states in the United States are covered under the FLSA guidelines and should
compensate the employees accordingly to avoid any possible disputes arising from employee suing the
business for mistreatment. The Non exempt personnel must be rewarded for the hours they work
overtime; the normal working hours for these employees are forty hours in a week. The exempt
employees, on the other hand, are not eligible for payments of any overtime unless they have an
individual agreement with the company. If an employee is salaried by the company does not mean that
they are exempted. The personnel in the organizations under the FLSA except some cases defined by
the law such as the lawyers and doctors have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The salary criteria for the exempt employees include must obtain a prearranged amount of pay for a
period agreed; the payments should be salaried in such a manner that every payment the employee
receives a similar amount. They are not paid on hourly basis, it does not matter how many hours an
exempt employee works in the organization, and the payment at the end of the salaried period should
be the same (Locke, 2009). Most of the exempt employees in busy organizations work extra hours to
make sure that the organizational deliverables are met. Their payments are not subject to any
variations despite the organizational conditions. No matter the increase in profits by the company or
increase in job requirement, the employee s salary is at a constant according to their recruitment
agreement with the human business resources. Their salaries change only after the agreed increment
from the organization at the necessary time span of the employment as per the organization s

Investigating Correlation Coefficient Of Correlation
a. I can use here z test for one sample proportion since I want to compare if there is a significant
difference between the sample proportion (i.e. PKU rates in that certain state) and the population
proportion (U.S. PKU rate distribution). Also since the sample size is sufficiently large, then it does
not pose any problem with the normality (since np 5). b. In this case to get the correlational coefficient
of the variable if it is ordinal, then I could use Spearman rank rho coefficient and if it is interval or
ratio level I could use the Pearson product coefficient of correlation. In the end I can check if the
correlation is statistically significant by using the t test for significant correlation coefficient. c. I can
use here t test for dependent samples (because of the phrase before and after ), since the same group of
sample will measured twice, before a treatment, and after a treatment. Of course, we need to check if
all the assumptions are met, such as normality, equality of variance and randomness of samples. d. I
can use here Chi square test of independence. Since we want to know if there is a relationship or
difference between the college students responses to the likert question, based on their major fields of
study (nutrition, nursing, and social work) So we want to test if the two variables are dependent or
independent with one another. Assumption of Chi square must also be checked. e. Either I can

Direct seeding is a method in which the seeds are shown directly into the soil by using special
machines . The seeds are covered with soil as they are being sown . This method does not involve the
transplanting of seedlings and therefore results in less damage to the roots of the seedlings . The plants
achieve faster growth and this increases crop yield . Less water is also needed to irrigate the fields .
This method is widely used in the planting of paddy to obtain higher yields of rice .

The Causes And Effects Of The Irish Potato Famine
Imagine if your main source of food was snatched away. Envision if you had to leave your home and
start a whole new life. The Irish had to do just this. The potato completely changed Ireland when it
was introduced to the country in the late 1500s. The nutritious food supported this country in more
ways than one. But disaster struck in the mid 1800s when the Potato Famine, otherwise known as the
Great Hunger, began, causing millions of Irish to emigrate from their country and start new lives in
America. Irish people experienced a huge change as they left their homeland to escape the starvation
and poverty caused by the Potato Famine; changing the lives of the Irish and Americans forever.
Before this devastating time, the Irish had a rich culture, filled with folklore and ancient tradition.
Most Irish were Catholic and spoke the Irish Gaelic language. This was very different from English,
the language that the immigrants would have to adapt to in their new home. Also, before the Great
Hunger, the potato was a staple in the diets of all the Irish people. The article Irish Roots: The Potatoes
Role in History Goes Far Beyond the Famine by George Ball says, For the Irish tenant farmers, with
barely an acre to cultivate, potatoes produced larger and more reliable yields than grains. The typical
Irish peasant ate from eight to 14 pounds of potatoes each day, providing 80 percent of caloric intake.
The potato s broad adoption transformed the Irish. Nearly the perfect

The Spread of Western Imperialism
In 1853, Western imperialism was at its height. It was spreading to several countries. The British
colonized India, the Dutch colonized Indonesia, the United States colonized the Philippines, and the
French colonized Vietnam. In 1929, the crash of the stock market brought a worldwide depression,
known as the Great Depression. The depression caused instability in many countries. International
commerce declined and tax revenues, profits, and personal income decreased. The Great Depression
especially impacted countries that were in need of raw materials. Between the time of 1853 to 1941,
Japan s culture and political structure changed anticipating westernization because they wanted to be
seen as equals to the Western countries. Japan also became more militaristic so that they would not be
seen as a victim of imperialism. Although Japan experienced some changes, Japan continued the
ideology of kokutai as a method for imperial advancement.
Japan s cultural and political structure changed from being a weak isolated nation to a modern
imperialist country. Before Japan westernized, it was under the rule of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This
was an agricultural economy with a population of 13 billion. Japan did not associate with any other
country because they believed foreign influence was a destabilizing factor. This resulted in
overcrowded farms and scarce minerals. In 1853, Commodore Perry came to Japan with big black
ships. The technological advancements of the ships shocked the

Missouri Geological Hazards
Geological Hazards of Missouri
Daniel LaBounty
Geology 111C, Section 04MH
Mr. David VanDeVelde
July 3, 2015
Geological Hazards of Missouri Although many may not consider Missouri to be a hot spot of
geological related natural disasters, there are multiple geological hazards which occur throughout the
state. According to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources Geological Survey Program, the
hazards most often occurring in Missouri are earthquakes, landslides, sinkholes and abandoned mines
(Geologic Hazards). Although most of the current earthquakes in Missouri measure between 1.0 and
2.0 on the Richter scale, the New Madrid Seismic Zone extends through the southeastern part of the
state. In 1811 1812, Missouri was struck ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to a cave, a sinkhole begins by acidic water dissolving carbonate bedrock creating an
underground void. If the void grows close enough to the surface, the structural integrity of the surface
material will eventually give way and a sinkhole is formed. These depressions can range in size from a
few square yards to over hundreds of acres. The depth of sinkholes can vary from shallow to hundreds
of feet. Although there are nearly 16,000 verified sinkholes in the state, the MGS caution there are a
great number which have not been reported or documented. Some sinkholes in Missouri are known to
be a depth greater than 100 feet though no exact records concerning depths are maintained. Located in
western Boone County, the largest known sinkhole in Missouri covers approximately 700 acres. If a
sinkhole does occur, it is recommended that a registered geologist or professional engineer be
consulted to assist in the stabilization of the sinkhole. Filling a sinkhole, referred to as remediation,
generally consists of removing all soil materials down to the bedrock surface and filling it with size
graded material. Larger rocks should be used first with each successive layer consisting of gradually
smaller grained material. Geotextile fabric covered by top soil will allow water

Phillis Wheatley’s Fight against Slavery Essays
Phillis Wheatley is a gem of her time; the first African American woman to have her poetry published.
Though purchased as a slave, her life was far from most African Americans during the 17th century.
She was educated and became deeply rooted in her faith: Christianity. From an outsider, her life may
be viewed as an adopted child rather than a slave to the Wheatley family. However, she did not forget
where she came from or those less fortunate than herself. Wheatley used the education she was
afforded and her new found spirituality to fight against slavery through the use of words (751). One of
the greatest examples of this is her poem To the University of Cambridge, in New England addressed
to perhaps the well educated group of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This knowledge is that the Savior died for their sins and awaits their arrival in heaven to share with
Him in the sublimest skies (19). She continues to warn the students of the repercussions of sin;
transient sweetness turns to endless pain (29). The phrase transient sweetness may refer to the short
duration of wealth and prosperity on Earth in contrast to the endless pain one might experience in hell
for their ill actions. She urges the students to shun baneful evil to the soul which she most likely
associates with slavery. Slavery is not only immoral behavior; it literally causes pain and destruction
to individuals. She uses the phrase human race divine as well as the words pupil and privileged to
describe the students superiority in society (27). This is important, why does she choose to enlighten
the most intelligent group of individuals, many of whom may practice slavery? Perhaps, she chose this
particular audience to convey her message because they would have the greatest ability; intelligence,
to see the error of slavery and have the status to put an end to it. Throughout the poem the tone is
earnest. Wheatley expresses intense seriousness when she begins to discuss religion and the
temptation of sin. For example, she uses phrases such as suppress the deadly serpent in its egg and

Walter J. Paulits Ambivalence Of Young Goodman Brown
Walter J. Paulits examines the character Goodman Brown through his actions of attending a meeting
with the witches and falling for the temptations of the Devil. Goodman Brown was a man of good
nature, yet his attendance to a meeting with the Devil changes everything. He discards his wife s
advice and starts on his journey through the woods. While falling for each of the Devil s temptations,
he proceeds into the woods leading to the climax of the walk into the woods with the meeting with the
witches. Paulits examines Brown as a man who represents ambivalence through his actions in the
woods. I agree with Paulits examination of ambivalence of Young Goodman Brown because of the
changes which Brown experiences because of the decision he makes to walk in to the woods.
Hawthorne casts the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spiritually, he is tormented by the Devil because of his willing to tempt and persuade which leads to
his lack of trust in his wife (Paulits). Brown regrettably never sees the ambiguity that is necessary, yet
the Devil has created two meanings as one and filled it with one of the feelings contending with
him...ambivalence has led Brown to the point where ambiguity confuses him (Paulits 582). I believe
that Goodman Brown was a weak character and eventually becomes highly affected by the
temptations of the Devil. He fights with his faith in humankind and his own self (Pualits). Doubt
destroys Brown which leads to his potential downfall of a caring human being. His decisions had
consequences that he was unfortunately unaware of, leading Brown to disregarding his wife, listening
to the Devil, and ultimately becoming a changed man within his own community. The ambivalence of
Goodman Brown gets him in trouble because he has constant mixed feelings and contradictory ideas
leading him to listen to the Devil rather than his wife,

Child Labour Essay
Child labour is the practice of having children engage in economic activity, on part or full time basis.
The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental
development. Poverty, lack of good schools and growth of informal economy are considered as the
important causes of child labour in India.
The 2001 national census of India estimated the total number of child labour, aged 5 14, to be at 12.6
million. In 2001, out of a 12.6 million, about 12 million children in India were in a hazardous job.
UNICEF estimates that India with its larger population has the highest number of labourers in the
world less than 14 years of age, while sub Saharan African countries have the highest percentage of
children who are deployed as child labour. International Labour Organisation estimates that
agriculture at 60 percent is the largest employer of child labour in India, while United Nation s Food
and Agriculture Organisation estimates 70% of child labour is deployed in agriculture and related
activities. Outside of agriculture, child labour is observed in almost all informal sectors of the Indian
economy.
Companies including Gap, Primark, Monsanto and others have been criticised for child labour in their
products. The companies claim they have strict policies against selling products made by underage
kids, but there are many links in a supply chain making it difficult to police them all. In 2011, after
three years of Primark s effort, BBC

How to Motivate Fred
How to Motivate Fred Maiorino
Fred Maiorino was employed by Schering Plough for 35 years and on July 19, 1991 he was
terminated. Fred was terminated because the lack of motivation he has once Jim Reed was hired. The
factors that inhibit Jim Reed from motivated Fred Maiorino are lack of leadership, lack of goals, and
lack of an effective employee performance review.
Leadership
Jim Reed fails to motivate Fred because of the unsuccessful role as leader. A successful leader has the
ability to manage and supervise the performances of their employees. (Kacmar, Carlson, Harris 2013).
These authors describe several leadership styles but the most effective in motivating employees is
transformational leadership style. The transformational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jim Reeds method could be described as unintended outcome.(Van De Mieroop, Vrolix 2014) that is
obtained from unacceptable performance ratings. Performance evaluations should be comprised of
principles that determine the level of performance and a valuation to determine the achievements of
the employee. An effective performance evaluation will clearly state employee s expectations and
standards. A performance evaluation review should not be based on historical factors. The purpose of
performance reviews should focus on the future. (Van DE Mieroop, Vrolix 2014) The most effective
way to increase performance is by direct feedback (Ahmed, Sultan, Paul, Azeen 2013). The key
motives for lack of performance can be accredited to lack of managerial success due to the lack of
manager s direction and feedback to employees. .(Yadav, Sushil, Sagar 2014) Leaders need to make
employees aware of their responsibilities, obligations to the company and their expectation and then
offer continuous feedback. Employees need to be made aware of the progress of their performance
levels. (Yadav, Sushil, Sagar 2014) Many studies have revealed that most performance appraisals do
not meet the company s expectations because it emphasis the weaknesses of the employees. This has a
tendency to make employees very defensive about the negative focus on their

Why Is Mr Smith Goes To Washington Still Relevant Today
The film, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington is an great example of what is going in the politics back then
and today too. Some characters in the film are Jefferson Smith Young Senator and the main character,
Clarissa Saunders Smith s Assistant, Joseph Paine Senior Senator, Jim Taylor Political Boss, Gov.
Hopper Governor, Chick McGann Taylor s Assistant and Diz Moore Newspaper Reporter and
Saunders friend. The film shows how Taylor, Paine and other guys are treating Mr. Smith and how
corrupted they are. In the end, Mr. Smith proves that he haven t done anything wrong and proves it.
The result made Paine and Taylor mad and were found guilty. Throughout the film, we can learn
lesson that nothing can be kept hidden, like corruption and making false case about others. In the end,
the film shows that once Mr. Smith proves that he is clear and isn t ... Show more content on

There are few scenes from the film which proves that the film is still applicable and relevant today.
One of the example from the film is, when Mr. Smith is appealing and trying to prove that he hasn t
done anything. Mr. Smith was speaking from about last seven hours and taking the stage slowly. One
of the member says to take a break and give more explanation next morning because it was already
midnight. Mr.Smith asks the Speaker of the House and he says once he stops talking today, he won t
get the stage back in the morning. And so thats why Mr.Smith refuses to take break and continous to
talk. So this is one of the example from the movie, it relates to today and what we learned in the class.
In our class we learned the same characteristics that once you take a break, you don t get the floor or
chance to speak back again. So the law hasn t changed in many years and that is why the film is still

James Buchanan Vs. Dred Scott Case
James Buchanan was an unsuccessful president due to his unwillingness to see the national effects of
his decisions on slavery. In his inaugural address, Buchanan signaled his desire to serve as a
peacemaker. At the time of his election to President in 1856 under the Democratic nomination, few
people expected him to have Republicans in the cabinet. Yet he almost had no Democratic
representation. Regardless of the appointees to his cabinet, Buchanan was stubborn and stuck to his
own views, either choosing not to see the effects slavery had on the nation, or simply being clueless to
the repercussions. James Buchanan supported the Dred Scott case in the Supreme Court, was in favor
of the Kansas Nebraska act, and created stronger sectionalism, greatly affecting the political parties.
To begin with, James Buchanan supported the Supreme Court s decision in the case of Dred Scott and
his fight for freedom. Dred Scott was a slave who was taken from where he was initially working in
Missouri, to a new posts in Illinois and what are now some regions in Minnesota, by his owner. After
being brought to these areas, Scott claimed that he was actually a free man, since he now stood on free
territory. Calling attention to the courts, his pleas were recognized and he received a full hearing. After
much debate, the Supreme Court concluded that since the Constitution did not recognize slaves as
citizens of the United States, all slaves were considered property and would not be deemed

My Dear Fellow Men And Fellow Women
The splashing of water, the trickling of drops, the bubbles galore and the great Indian fall... well this is
not an exhibition of my poetry traits or some faintly somber attempt of awry rhyming at one stretch...
it is also not the weird explanation of some all the more weird advertisements that are doing its regular
rounds in the idiot box nowadays or the radio stations. Neither is it the urge of a lesser known mortal
to gain attention of some well known folks nor is it written just for the sake of putting up some damn
written stuff on my blog in a harried manner. My dear fellow men and fellow women, (empowerment
of women is a deadly thing...can drag you in to a whole lot of unnecessary controversies...better to be
on a safe side and mention the women community wherever possible...all you feminists out there,
hope you are feeling satisfied to your heart s content now!!!) I am merely struggling hard to put my
painful and slippery outburst in black and white to provide some sort of relief to my freakish limb.
The incident took place exactly an year ago... and my infatuation with water or rains reached to its
extreme height and in fact did prove fatal to my survival in this big bad world. At the same time let me
warn you guys, I am not an individual who has lost her sanity levels... I am perfectly in control of my
life and my emotions but the incident that I am going to narrate in a few lines from here on is an
incident that would drive any normal human being crazy. Please

A Streetcar Named Desire By Blanche Dubois
The character of Blanche Dubois in the play A Streetcar Named Desire is depicted as a victim of her
traditional southern upbringing, she struggles to find her place in society where the values of a
Southern Belle are no longer relevant nor exist. Blanche Dubois is portrayed as the weaker sex, who is
then over powered by Stanley Kowalski, her sister s working class husband. Blanche Dubois shows a
great psychological instability when she is unable to live up to the expectations of a classic and proper
Southern Belle. This psychological instability ultimately leads to her to have a metal breakdown, the
play ends with Blanche being committed to a mental institution.
Blanche Dubois was raised on the social standard of Southern Belle and her primary goal in life was,
according to Southern tradition, was to seek the security of marriage. Unfortunately, she chooses
suitors who are not the best companions. Blanche marries Allan Grey for love at a very young age
only to find her dreams shattered by her husband s infidelity with another man. Blanche displays deep
seated psychological instability when she is unable to live up to her expectations as a properly raised
Southern belle and also by Stanley s brutally raping of her, which was to exert his domination over a
female victim.
To understand Blanch Dubois mental state, we must understand the ideology of the Southern Belle.
Southern belles were raised as sheltered, beautiful, and chaste daughters to become idyllically

Cheerios Advertisement Analysis
Think Outside the Box
Family matters, a Cheerios commercial released in 2013, caused a lot of controversy with an
interracial couple. In the ad a biracial girl is curious about Cheerios nutritional facts. So out of
curiosity she asks her Caucasian mother about the benefits of Cheerios for the heart. Her mother
explains to her that it helps lower cholesterol. The child s sleeping African American father wakes up
surprised with a chest full of Cheerios. Family Matters has an open appeal to families, progressing
families, people who like diversity. Cheerios target audience, however, is women ages ranging from
eighteen to sixty, mainly women in households with children. Women typically go grocery shopping,
and women have the final say so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The ad is explicitly selling viewers on Cheerios and the nutritional facts. The ad pitches the idea that if
you eat them your heart can become healthier and you can live longer to spend quality time with your
family. The implicit message behind this ad is, however, a bit more complex. The Cheerios brand is
well known for being family oriented and constantly evolving to modern day society. Cheerios didn t
portray the standard or ideal American family; they went outside the box and acknowledged biracial or
multiracial families. Interracial dating to this day is still frowned upon by some. By airing this ad with
the interracial couple and biracial little girl Cheerios was making a statement. This commercial isn t to
please everyone, especially those who are racist or prejudiced. With interracial couples growing across
America, they are rarely mentioned or publicized on television. It was very uncommon in 2013 to turn
on a TV and see a happy interracial family. Viewers feel empowered and a sense of acceptance. One
can only infer that this commercial was a huge leap for interracial families, especially the couples that
don t get support from their families or constantly receive negative remarks. The ad can help build one
s confidence and self esteem by knowing that there are others in the same situation, one may feel less
alienated. Not feeling obligated to choose one race over the other just embrace being different. The ad
sells acceptance, confidence, happiness, positivity, and self esteem. Having the little girl rocking her
natural curly hair sells confidence. Basically saying mixed raced people don t have to alter their curls
or change their appearance to please society standards. It sells positivity and happiness because they
portrayed a happy and loving interracial

Since its foundation, the company has been based on the Direct Model, i.e. Dell has always tried and managed to create direct relationships with its customers, by selling products directly and without the participation of intermediaries. The sale has always taken place through a telephone service or via the Internet. The company has not lately been as much as profitable it would like and some of the reasons for such performance have been allocated to the fact that the company owns its manufacturing plants. For this reason, the company would have approached some contract manufacturers to take over what in the 1990s was the envy of its competitors: its production plants. Products The products that Dell produces encompass the following categories: Desktop PCs Mobility Servers and Networking Storage Services Software and Peripherals From the figures issued by the company (see chart A), it is possible to understand the vastest product categories Dell relies on are those of Desktop PCs and Mobility, which account for more than 50% of the total revenues coming into the company. However, it is worth pointing out that the revenues originated by PCs are quite stable, since it is not possible to notice great increases in this business area, whereas the growth of the revenues in other areas, such as mobility or servers, are much more noticeable and reach even the double digits. The corporation aims at attracting specific market segments, by marketing different brands. In fact, Dell produces a line of products completely destined to the market segment of business. It had been forty years since World War 2 had left its impact on the world. On the sixth of June, 1984, Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States, stood at Pointe du Hoc and delivered a powerful speech to the veterans of D Day. The same spot the Allied armies ran up the coast to fight against the Nazi tyranny. Behind President Reagan was a stone memorial that symbolized the rangers that took these cliffs. Reagan explained: These are the boys of Pointe du Hoc. These are the men who took the cliffs. These are the champions who helped free a continent. These are the heroes who helped end a war (American Rhetoric). President Reagan s speech stormed the audience with a strong emotion that brought tears to the eyes. Ethos is the appeal to ethics, pathos is the appeal to emotion, and logos is the appeal to logic ( examples.yourdictionary.com ). Reagan uses a lot of pathos in his speech to the veterans to show importance. As an example, All of these men were part of a roll call of honor with names that spoke of a pride as bright as the colors they bore.. (American Rhetoric). The appeal of pathos is used in this speech a lot to express strong emotion. Reagan uses this device to capture the audience s attention like when he said, The air is soft, but forty years ago at this moment, the air was dense with smoke and the cries of men, and the air was filled with the crack of rifle fire and the roar of cannon. Finally, Reagan includes logos to state facts about events that happened on the day of June 6th, 1944. He explains, And so, the night before the invasion, when Colonel Wolverton asked his parachute troops to kneel with him in prayer.. (American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many wars and accidents in civic life made many countries prohibit keeping guns and firearms by individuals, but there are some other countries that continue to keep guns, such as the United States and the United Kingdom. I will focus on the gun culture in the United Kingdom from 1689 to 1997. Because the Unite King start allowing individual keeping guns by Bill of Rights in 1689, the 1689 Bill of Right guaranteed British subject certain rights. It mean government was not creating that having the right to bear arms, but it seems a traditional right of the people who live in the Unite Kingdom. That the raising or keeping a standing army within the kingdom in time to peace, unless it be with consent of parliament, is against the law. (The Queen s peace) The traditional of militia free to use arms is a mistake. The writer argued that English right to bear arms was a collective right and it was not for the citizen. The government always want to protect their political power, however individual did not understand this point,so, they David B.Kopel wroted Great Britain: The Queen s Peace was talking about the development of firearm s culture in United Kingdoms. First impressions of web pages are important to HCI developers as they have been shown as powerful in a variety of contexts which include studying personal character attributes. There has been multiple research and experiments where individuals were exposed to web pages for 50 milliseconds and how individuals formed an opinion of web pages. Notably the works of Lindgaard et al 2006 this study is where the participants were exposed to a website twice when viewing the website for only 50 milliseconds. However, there was a rather low correlation amongst visual appeal, simple complex and a reasonable correlation amongst attractiveness and clear confusing judgements. The study of and analysing aesthetic scopes of web page design and how design affects attractiveness is vital for HCI designers which will enable them to implement and produce a suitable system for users which meets their requirements. It is imperative that the HCI designer takes into consideration the necessary factors related to attractiveness and unattractiveness of websites. It is imperative that the design of the website must include technical and low level aspects making sure that it interacts with each other. There has been research relating to design concepts. For the first time, I took on a serious role in the business. I was no longer the boss son: I was tasked with trying to turn around a business that had been struggling for quite some time. When I graduated college I knew I wanted a career as an attorney. Prior to committing myself to law school, I wanted to gain some insight into the legal world through experience. But after six months I was unable to find a job or internship in the legal field. One summer night over dinner, I was updating my father on my job search and career prospect, which was difficult to admit. As supportive as he tried to be, I could see his disappointment. He then proposed I come to work at the hardware store and see if I could help get it back on track. He no longer had the time or energy to invest into the business. I didn t see how working there could be beneficial for me. But after thinking it over for several days, I realized this might be an exciting opportunity to challenge myself. I was to assume the role of store manager, a role that is exhausting in a small business where I would be responsible for every single thing that goes on. I spent the first few days critically and holistically assessing the business, trying to figure out potential causes of the business decline and how I could help improve it. I dream of becoming a middle school English teacher in spite of people telling me I will have a difficult time with the children from that age group. I have had many role models throughout my life and they have all impacted my life in their own way. My biggest role models have been my 8th grade math teacher Ms. Gurrola, my maternal grandfather, Higinio, and my 8th grade Language Arts teacher, Ms. Cordova. All of these individuals in their own way have had a significant impact on my life and are part of the reason why I choose to become a teacher. By learning about these people that have meant so much to me you can learn a lot me as a person and how I will be as teacher. One of the most memorable and favorite teachers I have had is my eighth grade math teacher Ms. Gurrola. Although she wasn t my favorite teacher at the time, today is she is one of my most significant roles models and inspirations for becoming a teacher. Being a new member of the bilingual program at my school, Ms. Gurrola s math class was one of the most challenging because I had never taken a math class in Spanish before and although Spanish is my first language the terminology was new to me. To me, Ms. Gurrola was a great teacher in spite of her strict rules and at times unpleasant attitude. She knew her subject matter very well and was always open to helping her students whenever possible. She had a strong accent that made it evident that she was bilingual and that English was not her first language. It was rumored that she had come to the United States from Mexico with a convent of nuns but left and became a teacher. I did not realize her value as a teacher until one day that I stayed after school with her to finish an exam for her class. I was upset with her over something that happened the previous day in class and I gave her a little bit of attitude that day yet when I went to her class after school it seemed as if nothing had ever happened. She was helpful and very nice to me. After I finished the exam ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This balance has been thrown off by many different things. Water seems to be one of the biggest problems with this offset balance. Water is a magic liquid keeping all of life thriving. Humans drink and use water, plants use water, water is used in everyday life, and it s slowly being taken away. In the future, there will be no water left to sustain life on earth. Ground water is a very important part of our fresh water supply and yet, it s depleting at a faster rate than what can be replenished. According to Kally Worm Groundwater is the second largest reserve of freshwater on earth. It also makes up 40% of the freshwater used in the U.S. alone. This ground water is usually found in what is called an aquifer. An aquifer is found towards the lower layers of the soil. The problem with these aquifers it that their recharge rate is slow making it non renewable. These water supplies being non re We are overusing these water supplies. When ground water is used to a level of where it can t recover, it affects the ground. Sinkholes can be formed when there is a aquifer that has water being drawn from it, but not letting it get back to par. Other problems can also occur is too much ground water is pumped out near coasts. This creates what s called salt water intrusion. Salt water intrusion is when the ocean water mixes with the fresh ground water. This increases the salinity of the water making ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first element is the salary criteria for the employees (Vogel et al., 2007). All the states in the United States are covered under the FLSA guidelines and should compensate the employees accordingly to avoid any possible disputes arising from employee suing the business for mistreatment. The Non exempt personnel must be rewarded for the hours they work overtime; the normal working hours for these employees are forty hours in a week. The exempt employees, on the other hand, are not eligible for payments of any overtime unless they have an individual agreement with the company. I can use here z test for one sample proportion since I want to compare if there is a significant difference between the sample proportion (i.e. PKU rates in that certain state) and the population proportion (U.S. PKU rate distribution). Also since the sample size is sufficiently large, then it does not pose any problem with the normality (since np 5). b. In this case to get the correlational coefficient of the variable if it is ordinal, then I could use Spearman rank rho coefficient and if it is interval or ratio level I could use the Pearson product coefficient of correlation. In the end I can check if the correlation is statistically significant by using the t test for significant correlation coefficient. c. I can use here t test for dependent samples (because of the phrase before and after ), since the same group of sample will measured twice, before a treatment, and after a treatment. Of course, we need to check if all the assumptions are met, such as normality, equality of variance and randomness of samples. d. I can use here Chi square test of independence. The Irish had to do just this. The potato completely changed Ireland when it was introduced to the country in the late 1500s. The nutritious food supported this country in more ways than one. But disaster struck in the mid 1800s when the Potato Famine, otherwise known as the Great Hunger, began, causing millions of Irish to emigrate from their country and start new lives in America. Irish people experienced a huge change as they left their homeland to escape the starvation and poverty caused by the Potato Famine; changing the lives of the Irish and Americans forever. Before this devastating time, the Irish had a rich culture, filled with folklore and ancient tradition. Most Irish were Catholic and spoke the Irish Gaelic language. This was very different from English, the language that the immigrants would have to adapt to in their new home. Also, before the Great Hunger, the potato was a staple in the diets of all the Irish people. The article Irish Roots: The Potatoes Role in History Goes Far Beyond the Famine by George Ball says, For the Irish tenant farmers, with barely an acre to cultivate, potatoes produced larger and more reliable yields than grains. International commerce declined and tax revenues, profits, and personal income decreased. The Great Depression especially impacted countries that were in need of raw materials. Between the time of 1853 to 1941, Japan s culture and political structure changed anticipating westernization because they wanted to be seen as equals to the Western countries. Japan also became more militaristic so that they would not be seen as a victim of imperialism. Although Japan experienced some changes, Japan continued the ideology of kokutai as a method for imperial advancement. Japan s cultural and political structure changed from being a weak isolated nation to a modern imperialist country. Before Japan westernized, it was under the rule of the Tokugawa Shogunate. This was an agricultural economy with a population of 13 billion. Japan did not associate with any other country because they believed foreign influence was a destabilizing factor. In his inaugural address, Buchanan signaled his desire to serve as a peacemaker. At the time of his election to President in 1856 under the Democratic nomination, few people expected him to have Republicans in the cabinet. Yet he almost had no Democratic representation. Regardless of the appointees to his cabinet, Buchanan was stubborn and stuck to his own views, either choosing not to see the effects slavery had on the nation, or simply being clueless to the repercussions. James Buchanan supported the Dred Scott case in the Supreme Court, was in favor of the Kansas Nebraska act, and created stronger sectionalism, greatly affecting the political parties.
