Advantages Of White Noise Machine
Best White Noise Machine: Buyer s Guide
Noise is something that most people would not associate with a good night s sleep. First of all,
we sleep to experience a state of peaceful tranquility that differs greatly from the chaos of our
waking day. No one goes to bed thinking, I wish I could still hear my boss shouting at me or I
wish my partner could snore louder.
However, there is the kind of noise that can block of all the ugly noises that we hear on our head.
The sound of the crashing waves of the ocean or the sound of raindrops can have a calming effect
on our heads and we would gladly choose them over the sound of passing cars or bickering
neighbors.
This is precisely the reason why those who are in the business of sleep decided to create a machine
that produces calming white noise sounds that can improve the quality of one s sleep. The white
noise machine is used as a meditative device to allow the mind to focus on the soothing sound and
not on the unfiltered sounds produced by our surroundings. ... Show more content on

It is easier to stay asleep throughout the night when you are in a quiet bedroom.
Portable White noise machines are easy to bring anywhere so you can be assured that you can
bring the machine even when you are out of the house.
Sets a routine If you are looking for something that can help you with setting up a nightly routine,
the white noise machine is a safer alternative than taking medication. It relaxes the mind and allows
you to fall asleep using meditative music.
Disadvantages of a White Noise Machine
User Dependence Those who have set up a nighttime routine involving a white noise machine can
become dependent on the machine and can cause them to feel uneasy when they sleep without the

She Ain T Right Essay
The happiest, most exciting memories I hold on to are often accompanied by a country song,
whether it be playing in the background, or roaring over the speakers. Songs are written for
people to feel and relate to the emotion the songwriter and singer put behind the lyrics. Growing
up having my dad be my role model and most influential person in my life, I often find myself in
things that remind me of him or our memories, along with songs that describe a girl who is
fearless and lives on the edge at times, as if there are no consequences. For me, this is especially
true listening to the song She Ain t Right, by Lee Brice, which highlights my personality and
strength I got from my dad, my sense of fearlessness, and my constant seeking out of adventure.
Growing up, I was, and am, my dad s little sidekick. We are best friends. Naturally, being such a
daddy s girl, I picked up his habits, which include being expressive via curse words and not filtering
my thoughts before saying them out loud. She Ain t Right begins with a line She got her Daddy
s tongue and temper, sometimes her mouth could use a filter. These words could not resonate
with me any more! There have even been several times I catch myself asking, Woah, is that my
voice in my head, or Dad s? The very first time I ever heard my dad curse was in Target at the
checkout. I can t recall exactly what upset him, however, I m pretty sure my brother or I were on
his nerves, but he walked away after he checked out

Analysis Of Mikhall Kalotozov s I Am Cuba Loose A Sense...
The protagonists in Mikhall Kalotozov s I am Cuba loose a sense of what of the meaning of life
but also mainly themselves. Throughout the film there is a rollercoaster of constant reoccurring
loss of innocence but once again is brought back since each character is started off as an innocent.
To be innocent means to be pure of heart and without guilt. An innocent person has not done any
wrong. It ties into the film because each of the three of the personas start off with the smile but is
soon stripped from them for whatever reason.
The cycle first starts off with the persona of Maria. In the beginning of the film she is shown
walking down the street casually talking to the fruit seller, also known as the fiancГ©, RenГ©. As
Maria is taking to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When she says she is scared, she is seen in a spaghetti strap black dress wearing a crucifix around
her neck. The black dress could be a reference to the fact that her innocence has died along with her
personality and identity. As Jim leaves he gives Maria money in exchange for her crucifix, now
she has not only lost the last piece of her personality and but the last ounce of innocence she had.
One reason that Maria would be scared is due to the fact that she has two personalities, one of
which is kept on the down low. The personality kept under locks is the one that is referred to as
Betty the club worker, possibly prostitute. The choice of the name Betty as Maria s stage name
probably wasn t at random. In the late 1920 s into the 1930 s Betty Boop was created to represent
flapper girls. Flappers were young girls who had yet to enter womanhood. They embraced their
free spirit and had many uncontrolled acts of fun with treating sex as something casual. After
Maria and Jim have sex and after she is caught by her fiancГ© she just lays there totally
emotionless. The emotionless face she give could be a sign of the fact the sex didn t mean anything.
Life sucks then gets better and then sucks again. The second protagonist is a farmer named Pedro.
Pedro is an old peasant who had it all but then lost completely everything and as soon as his life
was getting better he lost

The Effect Of Surface Residues On Weeds
Crop residue may be kept in the field in both CT and NT systems (CT+Res and NT+Res,
respectively). In CT+Res the residue is incorporated into the soil, with the depth of mixing
dependent upon type of tillage. Although incorporated residue may affect weeds via altered
nutrient dynamics, the effects will be highly dependent on the type of tillage used, the carbon to
nitrogen ratio of the residue, the type of soil, and the environment it will therefore be difficult to
extract useful generalities (Liebman and Mohler, 2001, p. 236). Consequently, in this review we
focus on the effects of surface residues on weeds.

3.1.1.1Germination

As such, decreased weed seed germination due to insufficient light availability is likely not a major
advantage of residue retention.
Surface residue decreases the daily maximum soil temperature but has little effect on the daily
minimum (Teasdale and Mohler, 1993) resulting in two changes: cooler average soil temperatures
and less drastic fluctuations. Most agronomic crops and many weeds require soil temperatures
above a certain threshold in order to germinate the lower soil temperatures under surface residue
would therefore delay germination of both. This delayed germination and resulting shorter growing
season of the crop can reduce yield; as such it is important to find the amount of residue which
optimizes yield rather than weed control (Wicks et al., 1994). In addition to later germination, some
weed species germination is enhanced by larger temperature fluctuations (Liebman and Mohler,
2001, p. 239); the buffered soil temperature could therefore reduce germination rates.
Surface residue will conserve soil moisture how this affects germination rates will depend on the
environment. In water limited environments, residue may promote germination while in wetter
conditions it may have little effect. This is exemplified by a study done in Zimbabwe, where
residue was more effective in suppressing weeds in wetter sites (Ngwira et al., 2014).

James Loewen The Land Of Opportunity
In his essay, The Land of Opportunity, James Loewen made many interesting points; and although I
didn t necessarily agree with all of them, I still found this to be an interesting and very informative
read. Loewen brought up many points which I have never heard before, and I specifically found his
thoughts on high schoolstudents and their thoughts on social classes very interesting. I liked the
point that Loewen made when he said that The students blame the poor for not being successful,
because often high school students are taught that the key to success is simply hard work.
However, while hard work may help, it is often simply fate or the social standing of one s family
that determines if one is successful. One can t find fame simply

Ethnic Conflict In The Bosnian Genocide
Bosnia is a complicated country: three religions, three nations and those others . Nationalism is
strong in all three nations; in two of them there are a lot of racism, chauvinism, separatism; and
now we are supposed to make a state out of that ( Alija Izetbegovic Quote ). This quote clearly
reflects the Bosnian ethnic conflict. It states seemingly that there is a lot of racism between each
ethics and they want their own state. The ethnic conflict occurred in a really long time since
Bosnian separated from Yugoslavia. Then, there is Bosnian Genocide that took place between 1992
and 1995. The Bosnian Genocide was the conflict between Serbs and Bosnian Muslims, the ethnic
conflict, was stopped by the NATO and United Nation.
Bosnia had the ethnic conflict that continued from the Yugoslavia, The Socialist Federal Republic

groups that fought each other were Serbs, Bosnian Muslims, and Croats. The Bosnian genocide
involved two main groups: Serbs and Bosnian Muslims. The conflict between these two ethnic
groups were increasing the damage by Serbian, who was supported the Serbs because of the nation.

Attack On Darwin
The Japanese attack on Darwin on the 19th February 1942, did not happen by chance but from
the work of a major contributing factor leading to various consequences and eventually
cementing the event as a significant one. If we look to the ultimate cause behind the attack on
Darwin, it can be seen that it was part of a strategic plan to deny the Allies to interfere with Japan
s invasion of Timor. However, for the invasion to be successful, Darwin had to be taken out of the
equation as Darwin could be used to base the Allies potentially preventing Japan in it
advancements. In their fast paced advancements, an underlying fear began to build as Japan s
military force began to steer towards Australian borders. When the air raids actually did happen,...

On the other hand, the major significance behind the attack on Darwin was that it was the first
time the war entered within Australian borders. The civilians of the time had suffered through
the trauma through the lost of loved ones, destruction and damaged property. The bombing of
Darwin despite its lack of acknowledgment due to censorship, in earlier years, developed to
almost 70 years on a National Day of Observance is held to formally acknowledge and to give
remembrance to the event to ensure the impact of the bombing of Darwin is not forgotten. The
relevance that the event still has on today s society can be seen when Japan s senior vice minister
for Economy Tadahiro Matsushita stated Japan had caused tremendous damage and suffering to
people of many countries, which was a cause of deep remorse and a heartfelt apology . To sum up,
it can be seen that with Japan intention of expanding its imperial force ultimately led to the attack
on Darwin, where the consequences that followed the attack have manifested into making the event

Genetically Modified Organism, Agriculture, And Synthetic...
Genetically Modified Organism
Agriculture, a necessity for providing basic needs, has evolved tremendously since the first time it
was practiced. When first started, agriculture was relatively simple: plant the seeds, water the seeds,
and gather the end product. Now, agriculture has changed to include pesticides, herbicides, and
synthetic fertilizers to produce and maintain higher yields. The Green Revolution in the 1940 s to
1970 s help modernize agriculture with high yielding varieties, better irrigation systems, and
synthetic fertilizers. Without the Green Revolution, world hunger would have been a lot higher
than it was in the past (Easterbrook 1997). Conventional farming was established thanks to the
revolution and helped greatly in keeping world food security. The world is still a limited
resource and the amount of fertile land that allows production of agriculture can only decrease
from now. Current production of agriculture may not be able to keep up with the steady
population growth of the developing countries. The population is projected to increase from
roughly 7 billion currently to 9.1 billion by 2050, meaning that there will be 2 billion more
mouths to feed (UNPD). Agriculture needed something new to help provide higher yields of crops
in order to keep world hunger levels at a minimum. Luckily in the mid 1990 s, genetically modified
organism, or GMO, crops were implemented on a large scale in the United States. Genetically

Essay on Nursing Care Plan Pathophysiology
Patient: M.H. 80 year old female experiencing renal failure.
Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a disease that is described as a loss of kidney function
gradually over time. As kidney function decreases, the waste collection in the body s blood
becomes high and makes the individual feel sick. This disease can lead to other complications in
the body such as anemia, poor nutritional health, high blood pressure, and nerve damage. These
complications will begin to progress and show as CKD progresses to advanced stages. Early
detection of this disease is essential when it comes to treatment. If CKD is diagnosed early
enough the disease progression can be slowed down and managed. This disease will eventually
lead to failure of the kidneys ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The amount of filtration done by the kidneys will obviously cause negative effects throughout the
body if they are not functioning properly. CKD will cause the body to retain many excess fluids
and waste that are normally filtered out to prevent internal harm throughout the body. With kidney
disease there will be a rise in blood pressure due to the amount of extra fluid that is retained in
the blood vessels. This fluid retention will cause the passageways to become narrow and make
blood passage through the vessels increasingly difficult, in turn causing an increase in blood
pressure. There will also be an increase in protein and blood found in the urine because it is not
filtered out properly by the kidneys. Swelling will occur in the extremities and around the eyes
because of the fluid retention as well. The longer the urine goes unfiltered the harder it may
become to urinate due to pain or blockage or there may be more frequent night time urination
(The National Kidney Foundation, 12). There are also a few tests that will show whether or not
the kidneys are filtering the body s fluids as they should. A simple urinalysis can be done to detect
protein or blood in the urine. This will alert the medical professionals to a possible problem with
the proper functioning of the kidneys. There are also Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, and
glomerular filtration rate (GFR) tests that will measure the

My Lai the Great Massacre Essay
My Lai the Great Massacre
The Olson and Roberts book, My Lai is based upon the March 18, 1968, assault on My Lai. By
examining the material, an explanation of why this massacre occurred is drawn. The main factors
that lead to the My Lai assault were difficulty engaging with the enemy and the problem of
distinguishing between the enemy soldiers and civilians, which both led to rage and frustration
among soldiers and a misinterpretation of the mission.
On March 17, 1968, a mission was given to the Charlie company to go into the village of My Lia
or Pinktown, and engage in battle with the enemy. The area was said to be heavily populated with
Vietcong, the North Vietnamese Army and Vietcong sympathizers (Olson, T Souvas, CID... Show

William Calley testified that the sight of men killed in a land mine during an operation brought
out feelings of hate and fear towards the Vietnamese (Olson, Calley, p.52). While the American
soldiers were being wounded or killed the enemy was rarely to be seen or shot at. The soldiers
were frustrated that their friends were being killed by the enemy, but they could not find the enemy
to kill them. This lead American soldiers into My Lai with the attitude to seek revenge for previous
casualties and that nothing would stop them (Olson, Roberts, Peers Report, p.54).
3Distinguishing between the enemy soldiers and civilians was another factor of why this
massacre occurred. The problem of not knowing who the enemy was also led to fear and
frustration within the American soldiers. The enemy was not dressed in uniform so they were
not easily detected. Some civilians were helping the Vietcong and the North Vietnamese Army.
Some would be civilians by day and snipers at night. Even children would coddle up to jeeps and
drop hand grenades in the jeep (Olson, Roberts, Peers Report, p.54). The soldiers were becoming
very frustrated because they did not know who to be friends with.
The misinterpretation of the mission by the captains and the soldiers also led to the My Lai massacre
. To start off with, the plan was based upon a faulty assumption concerning

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Controlled Release
Figure. No.4: Plasma concentration vs time profile of a controlled release form.
пѓ This means that they are actually controlling the drug concentration in the body, not just the
release of the drug from the dosage form, as is the case in a sustained release system.
пѓ Another difference between sustained and controlled release is that the former are basically
restricted to oral dosage forms while controlled release systems are used in routes like transdermal,
oral and vaginal administration.
пѓ Periodic administration of a drug by conventional means, such as taking a tablet every four
hours, can result in constantly changing systemic drug concentrations with alternating periods of
ineffectiveness and toxicity. Controlled release systems attempt to maintain a therapeutic
concentration of a drug in the body for an extended time by controlling the rate of delivery of the
drug.
пѓ Controlled release systems are not necessarily target specific, which means that they do not
exclusively deliver the drug to the target organ. This may be achieved by so called targeted
delivery systems which aim to exploit the characteristics of the drug carrier and the drug target to
control the bio distribution of the drug.
Disadvantages of Conventional dosage forms:

Warren Bennis, a renowned scholar in leadership studies said, Leadership is the capacity to
translate vision into reality. (Bennis, 2014) Widely regarded as one of the greatest Generals in
U.S. military history and one of the most important men of the 20th century, George C. Marshall
was an extraordinary visionary and ethical leader. In this paper I will first, cover how George
Marshall used his understanding of pressures for organizational change to transform the post WWI
United States Army and how his transformational leadership put his vision into action. Next I will
cover how George Marshall was an ethical leader through ethical behavior and how his fair
mindedness helped create and enact the Marshall Plan. Last, I will relate the principle of a
visionary and ethical leader to my personal relevance. George C. Marshall was a strategic
visionary leader and an astute statesman. When Marshall was appointed as the Chief of Staff of
the Army in 1939 he knew that transforming the Army at a time of volatile and uncertain
environment was essential for survival . (Nelson, 1993) The flames of conflict worldwide seemed
about to get out of control. Europe stood on the verge of war. (Nelson, 1993) That same day

historiography began to be famous and important. Islamic historians praised God at all times

they had conflicts, especially with European Catholics, and they split their churches from Catholics.

Social Injustice In Richard Wright s Native Son
During the summer of 2015, I had an opportunity to read a book for my AP English class. The
book named Native Son by Richard Wright is listed as among the top 100 books by the
American Library Association. Native Son by Richard Wright was written in 1940. The
protagonist in the story is a 20 year old named Bigger Thomas, a black boy; who lives in a poor
area on Chicago s South Side in the 1930s. My examination and analysis of this book is that this
book is about symbolism and the pessimistic views of Bigger and this is effectively depicted by
the relationships between black and white people during the depression era. This book also depicts
the central theme of social injustice that was prevalent during those times. In the... Show more

With a threat to the black community, political power may rise to a higher extent, making the
population double the violence of chaos and corruption. A sense of courage is needed to eradicate
violence and to end the influence of whites dominating black communities. The New York Times
article explains more in depth about how the black rights matter movement contributed to the
complexities of black political culture and how urban naturalism can be changed for a greater
extent. Life has value, but death is not simply another thing that happens to human beings. Bigger
s attitude gradually changes from not having a true meaning of life to having a true meaning of
life. Reference to Elle Hearn s quote, who is a strategic adviser, said that, It s not just about
changing laws, hearts, and minds, it s about actually changing action. From his perspective, he
actually means to change the course of humanity for the better. In the novel, Bigger realizes that an
action of changing life s meaning into something better helped him to change his own life.
Although he couldn t acknowledge that he was an educated person, he still had the time to correct
his mistakes and to put off death by living for others. The importance of the book and the article
helped to draw attention to the main theme, which is reflecting the behavior of the white society
and revealing its true meaning. For Bigger, his social attitudes and beliefs prevented him from
taking opportunities for advancement. Therefore, we all need to be ready to support ourselves and
prevent racial tensions from happening. The influence of the blacks has had a great effect on their

and his power was proved when he changed this political outline that had been in place for five

Jamestown Vs Plymouth Plantation Essay
The Jamestown and Plymouth Plantation were big acts to our history today. Both plantations were
similar and different in many ways. Jamestown was uniquely harsh, and I could somewhat say the
same about the Plymouth plantation as well. In a matter of fact, the Jamestown and Plymouth
plantation caused a ruckus in their towns/state, enough ruckus to maintain it s name and strength of
time. Starting with Jamestown, it was a scarce plantation. Sailors got what they called better paid
due to the ships staying for a longer. They weren t paid in money, but they were paid with bread,
which was a good item to sell, barter, and love etc. There was something established called the
surprise attack. This attack included Smith unexpectedly returning, the Spaniard greedily desiring
gold, and Smith gets shot in the thigh. Jamestown s plantation was violent, and deceiving. Leading
to the Plymouth Plantation, although the ships were very compact, they had an abundance of
things accomplished. There were a lot of sicknesses and cursing. They were very religious with
their beliefs. For example, they were against cursing, indecisive manners and such. Their sails were

Starting in AD 800 and hitting its peak from 1050 1200 AD, Cahokia covered six square miles

history was left behind through earthen mounds, evolved social structures, advanced cultural

guidance for children. In what might be called the flip side, there is also a wide range of views on
how children should have discipline applied.Together , these two areas of dealing with children is
loosely referred to as childguidance. It would be good to give a professionally acceptable
definition of what child guidance is. Child guidance is defined as a contrived methods for external
control as well as interaction with extension of development of naturally unfolding internal
mechanisms (Book ) To make the matter of guidance a bit more challenging; a parent, caregiver or
teacher must also know what is the developmentally appropriate practice... Show more content on

This is true because therestrictions are clearly communicated and they tell the child what
appropriate behavior is, and the reasons behind that behavior. You must maintain therestrictions
that you set with fair treatment of everyone in the classroom. Children have to learn what
respectful treatment means; they learn this best from the words and actions of adults and
caregivers around them. It also means, clearly stating that a certain behavior will not be
tolerated. The childcare teacher will speak in a normal conversational tonealso while.
Also, speaking slowly enough that the child hears everything the teacher says is a help. It is
important to use words that are easily understood by the childand in short sentences whenstating
limits. One example would be, Please close the door to the cabinet. This instruction would tell
the child exactly what the teacher wants done. This is more helpful than saying, Let s finish up.
When talking to a child always try to avoid using abstract words or phrases such as in a little
while, be a good boy, or knock it off. Not only should you follow the above guidelines, but it is
very important that you tell the child exactly what to do, rather than what not to do, and always
try to be as positive as possible. You might say, Use this tissue to clean your nose, rather than
saying Don t pick your nose! It is very important to

Feudalism and How It Affected Old England
Feudalism was a very important aspect in developing the political organization in medieval
England. It was one of dominant governments used by the nobles. Feudalism was when one of
the king s noblemen would give land to a man known as a fief and give the fief people to work the
land for him. These people are known as serfs. The fief would then protect the serfs from being
attacked as long, as long as the serfs worked the land to provide an income for the fief. If the fief
accepted the nobles offer he would have to swear his allegiance to the king. After he swore to the
nobles the fief would become a vassal to the noblemen. When the fief became a vassal he would
have to provide military services or any other type of service to the king. A fief could also become
a noble lord and could give some of his land away to other people known as fiefs. This process
would be known as subinfeudation and this could go all the way up to the king. Feudalismwas pretty
much the only government at the time of medieval England. Feudalism came about because of the
weak political groups and non existent governments. The king would use feudalism as a way to
show his power and make sure his military strength was strong. The use of this political
organization slowly died out. With an eye toward discovering the nature of the Marxists transition
from feudalism to capitalism most of them concluded that marx was right; the old feudal
aristocracy of the middle ages was gradually being

Twelve Habits Of Christian Thought
The Apostle Paul says that we should rejoice always (Phil. 4:4). The basis of our attitude is not
on our circumstances but on the character of God. Philippians 4: 8 9, tells us what we should have
our minds set on. It will take verbal and mental discipline as Christians to develop the
characteristics of a healing church.
Six Habits of Christian Thought
The author lists the six commandments Paul states that form the habit of Christian thought. (1)
Think about those things. Let go of the negatives and have Christ like thoughts. (2) Think with
discernment. Think on Jesus the Truth not on facts alone. Not all facts are true. (3) Think
honorable thoughts. These thoughts dwell on praise, worship, and thanksgiving. We are God s
workmanship to which we owe only praise and thanksgiving. (4) Think just thoughts. All our
thoughts should be without prejudice and bigotry. We are to think rightly and justly about all
situations, giving everyone the same chance in our consideration of them. (p. 165) (5) Think
untainted thoughts. Think thoughts from the Spirit, not mindless, vain meditation. (6) Have an eye
for the beauty around you. Life is more than facts and statistics. There is beauty and artistic value
in creation. We are to marvel at God s handiwork. We are to think like Jesus thought, which is
different from the world. It takes discipline to become a healing church.

Underlying Neurobiological Processes
It has been agreed in the literature that memories can generally be defined in terms of time
(Nader, Schafe LeDoux, 2000). Memory is sensitive to disruption soon after learning as it is in a
labile state of short term memory (STM). Conversely, memory enters a stable form and is less
sensitive to such disruptions in long term memory(LTM) at a later stage after learning (Nader et
al.). Research has argued that the process in which labile new memories transform into stable long
lasting memories is known as consolidation (Nader et al.). After memories are consolidated, they
can re enter states of transient instability, making them vulnerable to disruption immediately after
retrieval (Yue et al., 2012; Si et al., 2012). This is known as memory reconsolidation (Yue et al.; Si
et al.). Finally, the re exposure to a particular context without reinforcement can lead to memory
extinction (Merlo Romano, 2008).That is, the temporary weakening of an earlier conditioned
response can lead to extinction (Merlo Romano). However, the number of events or duration of a
single event in that exposure will determine whether memory extinction or reconsolidation is
activated (Merlo Romano).
Although learning to fear danger is essential to survival, many anxiety disorders are underpinned by
the dysregulation of the fear system (OyarzГєn et al., 2012). Accordingly, much research has been
dedicated to developing strategies for supressing fear memories in maladaptive cases (OyarzГєn et
al.;

fond of plays, Queen Elizabeth permitted professional theaters to be built in England for the first
time. These new and improved theaters attracted 15,000 theatergoers per week in London. (Arts).
In addition to Shakespeare s masterpieces of the stage like Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth, Sir
Philip Sidney s Defence of Poesie was written during this golden age in the literary arts (Arts).
Queen Elizabeth managed to capture the imagination of influential poets such as Edmund Spenser
and Sir Walter Ralegh (Moose). The Shakespearean sonnet, Spenserian stanza, and dramatic blank
verse also came into practice during the period. Queen Elizabeth s appreciation for theatre led to the
introduction of many new theatres and famous playwrights that promoted English culture (Arts). In

Comedy Of Manners Analysis
The comedy of manners is a genre of comedy that became established on the English stage during
the Restoration period. It can be said that the English comedy of manners started with George
Etherege, second would be William Congreve (Palmer 2). Their plays focused on the behavior of
people in a society and the feigned values that they cared about ( Comedyof Manners 1). These men
constructed realism in their plays keeping their writings authentic and unique while also putting the
comedy on stage as close to reality as possible, to show general life of time, its movements, its
amusements, its general conceptions, were mirrored upon stage (Dobree 26 29). They used their
observations from their own life to represent the setting, events, and... Show more content on

The various types could be the fool, the deceiver, the hypocrite, the jealous wife, the interfering
parents etc.
Comedy of Manners has became well known and grown widespread over many periods in
theatre history. Most theatrical genres begins in a certain era but spans upon many periods only
if the works of later playwrights successfully tries to restore them which didn t happen a lot.
English theatres were closed down between 1642 and 1660 when Oliver Cromwell and the
Puritans conquered England and there was no aristocracy. In 1660 King Charles II took the throne
and one of his first actions was to grant several key theatrical figures licenses to produce plays and
breathe life into the theatre once more.
Most of the writers wrote about things that they were passionate about or things that were popular
during the time. To provide some examples, George Etherege has been called the actual founder
of English comedy of manners (Palmer 31). Etherege described himself as being lazy and too
careless to be ambitious, so he decided to write plays for his own enjoyment and for entertainment
(Dobree 60). Etherege wrote Sir Fopling Flutter (1676), which is about a young aristocrat that takes
place in London during the Restoration period who tries to win the affection

Gatsby is depicted as a pleasant gentleman even though he does turn to bootlegging as a resource
for money. He does all of this only to be reunited with the one woman he falls in love with,
Daisy. In the novel it is stressed that Gatsby and Daisy spent countless amounts of time together
in their youth which elucidates why Gatsby tries so hard trying to refabricate those moments.
He feels as if that is what will make him content. He wants to be with her because he knows of no
one better and he is bound to her because of what they used to have. Gatsby s love for Daisy is
expressed in various chapters of the novel: He hadn t once ceased looking at Daisy, and I think
he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well

is impressed with his possessions because he becomes rich for her. The fact that she loves his

Another occasion in which Gatsby is seen as a pleasant person is when he watches Daisy from a

Narcissism Research Paper
Introduction In this current society, an increasing number of people discuss one controversial
debate everywhere: Are younger adults more narcissistic than previous people? In fact, when
people select one side of this debate, they are supposed to know two essential questions: what is
truly meaning about narcissism? How does this debate originate from? In general, Narcissism,
originated from the Greek mythology, is used to describe the action or habit of someone s self
complacence. Surprisingly, it has a totally different explanation in psychology. As Jean M. Twenge
(2006) mentioned in her article named On Army of one: Me, Narcissism is one of the few
personality traits that psychologists agree is almost completely negative. Narcissists are overly
focused on themselves and lack empathy for others, which means they cannot see another person s
perspective (para. 22). In other words, narcissistic people, in ГҐa psychological view, are self
centered and grim rather than obsessed with self. Therefore, this topic actually asks people that is

recorded a videotape and said some narcissistic words and did some cold blooded actions, like
making a shooting noise , said Isn t it fun to get the respect we re going to deserve? (Twenge,
2006, para.27). This example clarifies that younger people who are narcissistic showed violence

The Pros And Cons Of US Budget Deficit Spending
Unfortunate for some Presidents, they experienced a terrible recession during their terms in the
office. In the modern day President Obama was one example, in 2008 the United States hit her
worst recession in the past sixty years (Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes, 2010 2011). The President took
a drastic move with the support of the Congress and passed the largest stimulus package in the
history of the United States. According to government Authors Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes, the
Congressional Budget Office argued the spending could lead to a federal government budget
deficit of a $1.6 Trillion in 2009 (2010 2011). The debt is still hanging around of about five
percent of the GDP going all the way through 2019 even though the recessionis over the nation still

Novartis s Transparency Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Introduction to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a measure of a business s impacts on society, both
positive and negative. Pharmaceutical companies in particular are held to a high ethical standard by
the public due to the nature of their products. Novartis, the third largest drug and biotech company
in the world, aspires to be a model of ethics and philanthropy in the industry. The company uses its
size and global prominence to set a high CSR standard for all businesses. This paper examines some
of Novartis s most recent projects that contribute to the company s respected reputation, but also
investigates lawsuits against Novartis and shortcomings with its transparency, both of which the
administration continually fails to address.
Recent Philanthropic Initiatives
Novartis has increased its budget for charitable healthcare over the last few years. The company
developed entire departments to oversee charity projects, raise awareness of diseases, and increase
accessibility to its products. These projects focus on providing both preventative and treatment
based healthcare to low income populations.

Weightlifting, a Benefactor of Life
One sport that I did not even view as a sport before is weightlifting. What is weightlifting? It is the
sport or activity of lifting barbells or other heavy weights. However, it is more than just that. Like
many sportive activities, they all benefit the ones who are active and committed. Nevertheless,
weightliftingis a good benefactor on the muscles, bones, joints, and the common risks of the human
body. Weightlifting strengthens your bones and can help you stay active and healthy as you age is
a factual quote from the article Why Is Lifting Weights Good for You? The encouragement of
knowing that weightlifting is healthy will be supported with the analysis of the article, my opinion
of the matter, and how it affects students lives today. Why Is Lifting Weights Good for You?
includes the prosperities of treating muscle, bones, joints and other somatic obstacles. First,
weightlifting can increase the size, strength and power of one s muscles. After obtaining sparse
body mass, the body will burn more calories even when one is not currently exercising.
Preserving muscle mass is crucial when one is elderly. This is especially important for elders
because they tend to lose vitality and body mass. Lifting weights helps one to keep track of their
muscle mass and staying active while aging. Next are the benefits for the bones and joints. Lifting
weights can help bones develop thicker and more solid by applying stress on them. The healthy
bones will aid the joints as well.

Voting Argument For Voting
This argument of Australia s voting age has been debated nationwide for over quite an extensive
period of time. Voting is a fundamental aspect of our democratic system which enables an opinion
thus pursuing laws and rules that govern our country. Several people believe that 16 year olds can
handle the responsibility of votingas it is an important skill as a citizen to have a say in what will
have a direct impact on them in the future. However, this statement can be highly controversial as
many believe they make rational decisions based on lack of experience and maturity.
Today in our modern society, 16 year olds are open to a wide range of opportunities that allow
them to apply and manage skills of responsibility yet planting their safety in the hands of their own
future. A sixteen year old Australian citizen has the ability to create a family, work full time, join
the armed forces, pay taxes and yet the right to vote for their country is denied. In 2012/2013, more
than 17,000 Australians under 18 paid $41 million in taxes in addition to the GST (Shorten, 2015)
however they aren t permitted to decide who manages and spends their taxes on their behalf. A
major cause of the American revolution was the incentive of No taxation without representation
(Otis, 1761) that signified the right of independence and democracy however Shorten s declaration
lies heavily against this concept. Together with this, numerous people have the firm belief that

Hb 4446
HB 4446 is positive for Michigan condominium associations as many developers have drafted
onerous provisions in condominium documents that do not allow for the board of directors to take
necessary to protect condominium associations action unless a 2/3 co owner vote is a obtained and
numerous other requirements are satisfied. HB 4446 will address the following issues:
Anti Lawsuit Provisions Decrease Property Values
Michigan residents purchase condominiums with the expectation that the condominium documents
will be enforced equally against all co owners as a means to increase property values and preserve
the aesthetic character of the community. If the board of directors of a condominium association

314663 (Mich Ct App June 24, 2014), the Michigan Court of Appeals held:
The Association contends that the prelitigation approval provision would deny [it] the right to
even defend itself in any litigation brought by anyone for any purpose. This interpretation is
incorrect. The provision does not preclude the Association from defending itself in the face of a
lawsuit. Rather, it sets a condition under which the Association may act on behalf of the owners
for the purpose of litigation. A vote could be conducted to spend money on a defense should the
Association be sued, or the owners could choose to default, just like any other defendant is free to
choose.
However, as indicated above, this is not really a choice as an association does not have realistic
chance of being able to take the necessary action to respond to the complaint in such a short time
period. By way of example, if a one hundred (100) unit association is sued for $1,000,000. The
association has twenty one (21) days to file an answer, but fails to either a) find a location and/or
schedule a meeting in time or b) holds the meeting, but cannot obtain a quorum of members. The
twenty one (21) days elapses and the circuit court clerk enters a default against the association.
Each co owner would be forced to pay $10,000 to satisfy the default judgment merely because the
board of directors was prevented from hiring an attorney to defend the lawsuit. Accordingly, HB
4446 would prevent these types of situations from taking place and provide the board of directors
of a condominium association with authority to defend a

Child Poverty
In the United States, child poverty has been a severe issue even when the country was established.
When looking at the statistics of child poverty from the past, it is clear that there was an
increasing number of families and children living in poverty. This trend dates back to the year
2000 when 11.6 million people were living in poverty. In 2007, the number of individuals suffering
from poverty rose to 13.4 million, (Arrighi Maume, 2007). This is due to the massive economic
fallout, also known as the Great Recession. The United States lost over 7.5 million jobs and the
unemployment rate doubled, which directly impacted parents and their children, (Grusky etc.,
2011). This crisis resulted in leaving many Americans financially insecure. Even though many of
the financially stable individuals suffered a great loss, they were able to utilize their resources to
navigate through the calamity and recover whereas those who were poor faced an economic issue
with greater impact. They were faced with foreclosures, bankruptcies and mortgage felonies. Most
importantly, the lives of the young children were negatively impacted as well. The four areas that
the children were affected by from the Great Recession were: health, hunger, housing, abuse and
neglect, (Wiltz 2015). In several households, there was at least one member that suffered from
malnourishment because of the inadequate food supply for the family. On the other hand,
numerous children were left to be homeless because of

Bunny by Lisa McCue, Quiet Bunny learns to find his voice through a series of trial and error.
Finding one s own special uniqueness is a step toward finding oneself. There are many different
ways to achieve personal enlightenment, including talking to trusted family and friends, not
trying to mimic others, and being proud of oneself. In Heather Henson s novel Dream of Night,
Shiloh finds her own personality with the help of a very special horse. Shiloh is a hardened
foster child who meets an old and abused racehorse. Her relationship with the racehorse changes
her demeanor and lets the other side of her speak up. While she is sassy and rude at the beginning
of the book, by the end she is grinning back. A little. Not too much, not yet... (Henson, 207). She
has found her true voice, the personshe is meant to be by enlisting the help of a trusted friend. Other
people can bring out the best in people and talk them through difficult times. Shiloh is also one step

Quiet Bunny, from McCue s short story Quiet Bunny, is exactly as the name entails a quiet
bunny. After hearing all the other animals in the forest sing in the night song , Quiet Bunny goes
on a quest to find his own noise. He tries to mimic all of the other animals but ultimately fails.
But on his way back to the clearing, Quiet Bunny jumps on a log and soon enough he is
marching to the beat of his own drum. A wise old owl once told Quiet Bunny You are a Quiet
Bunny. Be whoooo you are and you will find your own bunny sound. (McCue, n.p.). Quiet Bunny
realizes he is special and ceases to copy others. He knows that finding one s voice in this world is

The Downfall of Brutus
The Downfall of Brutus The play, The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, by William Shakespeare, has two
main tragic heroes. Set in Rome and spanning from forty four to forty two B.C., the play tells of
Brutus and Caesar whom both fall from the highest positions to the lowest of misfortune and then
are enlightened on their mistakes. Brutus is the stronger example of a tragic hero in this story.
Throughout this play, Brutus commits many faults, falls more drastically than all other characters,
and regrets his previous actions by the end of the play. Brutus commits three costly mistakes during
the play. The first mistake that he makes is that he participates in the assassination of Julius Caesar.

He wishes that he had never fallen for Cassius s insidious plan to assassinate Caesar, Caesar,
now be still; / I killed not thee with half so good a will (997). He regrets, that through these
actions, he destroys his name and his stature. Brutus, scrutinizing all of his mistakes, and
wishing that he had done things differently verifies that he is the main tragic hero in this classic
work. Through these final moments of Brutus s life, the audience of the play can truly see that
Brutus is not lying about his love of Caesar, but that he honestly regrets participating, and is
sympathetic about the last years of his life. Brutus, even though he has made many mistakes
throughout his life, he makes one final one with his last action. Unfortunately, the audience does
not know whether or not he regrets committing suicide. Had he not done so, Antony most likely
would have restored some of his stature in Rome, and granted him his life, This was the noblest
Roman of them all. / All the conspirators save only he / Did that they did in envy of great Caesar;
/ He, only in a general honest thought / And common good to all, made one of them (998). It is
clear that Antony is saddened by the loss of Brutus, because he realizes the true meaning of Brutus
s actions. In conclusion, Brutus is the tragic hero in this play because of the mistakes that he
makes, the fall that he takes, and the regrets that he feels after. Brutus will forever be labeled as a

Rosa Parks Heroes
Everyone has somehow been a hero to someone, in one point of their life, even though they may
not have known at the time or was recognized for it. They may have shown heroic qualities or
stood up for someone, maybe even for people who were too shy to do it themselves. Heroes are
quick thinking, determined people that put the needs of others before themselves, like Rosa Parks
because of her refusal to move seats on the bus. But, heroes don t wear capes or special costumes,
like in movies, they are just typical, ordinary people.

And they probably don t have the abilities to fly. For example, an ordinary person can be a hero
to someone, they don t need to have a cape or any special costume, every day, there are ordinary
people who act like heroes when they courageously defend or protect others (Do all heroes have
super powers?). This shows how you don t need to be able to fly to be a hero or anything like
that. You can just do what you do, and help others that may need your help, in different
situations. There s no right or wrong was to do it! Another example is that, in September 2001,
the twin towers in New York were both knocked down by two different planes, and immediately,
thousands of emergency personnel, including firefighters, police, emergency medical
technicians (EMTs), and paramedics, responded to the scene to help rescue as many people as
possible (Do all heroes have super powers?). This shows that these people weren t dressed in
capes or anything, they were there to save the people in the towers. There are many more
examples of people from everyday life, other than this one, that show that everyone can be heroes
in some way or another, and we see examples of these people everyday! Capes, special costumes,
or even having the capabilities to fly, are all misunderstandings of what true heroes are, and now
you know that you don t need those things to be a hero, you can come as you

Richard Muhlfeld s His Quintet For Clarinet, 2 Violins,...
In his Quintet for Clarinet, 2 Violins, Viola, and Cello Op. 115, Brahms creates an important and
influential work in the chamber music repertoire. By writing his Quintet for the specific clarinetist
Richard MГјhlfeld s artistic brilliance, and by taking musical liberties with conventional forms and
expectations, Brahms crafts the intimacy and seriousness one has come to expect from chamber
music. Towards the end of his life, Brahms had intended on retiring from composing. Around 1891,
the Meiningen orchestra, with whom Richard MГјhlfeld held his career with, frequently featured
Brahms s music at well known festivals in the area. Previous to meeting MГјhlfeld, Brahms had no
interest in centering his writing onto the clarinet. He felt the... Show more content on

The Joachim Quartet concerts were known for being a major series performing strictly string
chamber music. Brahms had convinced Joachim with his manuscripts that the work was worthy of
the sacrifice of adding clarinet and piano to the series. The highly regarded reputation of the
Joachim concerts certainly allowed for the seriousness of the Quintet to be featured, for all of the
cleaver composition techniques Brahms employed were certainly appreciated by the intellectual
audiences the Quartet frequently attracted. The Quintet follows the general guidelines for form that
audiences of the time have come to expect from serious string chamber music pieces. The first
movement acts as a Sonata form with some unexpected variation, the second as a three part song
form. The third and fourth movements begin to some unconventional practices. In the third, instead
of a scherzo movement in 3/4 time, we get a sonata allegro in 4/4 and 2/4 time. In the fourth, the
audience gets a theme and variations, but the tempo is considerably slower than what one would
normally expect from a concluding movement. In 1891, the only memorable clarinet quintet was
composed by Mozart. If one were to come into a performance of the Brahms Quintet with Mozart s
Quintet in mind, they would expect the clarinet to take the most important role, with the strings
accompanying more often than not. This is certainly not the case in Brahms s work, as the

King Henry Iv Part II Diction
In a very haunting soliloquy from King Henry IV part II by William Shakespeare the reader is
enthralled with the thoughts of King Henry, who is in the despairing clutches of a very common
chronic disorder named Insomnia. Through author s use of diction and imagery, we are able, as a
reader, to fully understand his state of mind in such a sleep deprived and frustrating situation.
Throughout the entirety of the soliloquy, the author, William Shakespeare, uses contrast as a form
of imagery. When depicting settings in which sleep arrives and settings in which it does not, the
reader can understand the king s thoughts. For example, Shakespeare describes, in lines six through
eight, smoky cribs or huts that are fly filled as the places where... Show more content on

The author s diction is a reliable asset to the understanding of King Henry s emotions towards
himself, who has Insomnia, and towards others who do not have such a disorder. At the
beginning of the King s soliloquy, he questions sleep in a personifying manner. O gentle sleep!
Nature s soft nurse, how have I frightened thee, makes it clear that King Henry feels himself is to
blame for his lack of sleep and that sleep being a Nurse can cure him of his disorder. It also
reflects his own frustration regarding the unresponsiveness of his sleep to come and claim him.
As his soliloquy continues it becomes evident that he begins to feel indignation and a feeling of
being wronged by sleep because others find it so easy to perform such action, while he struggles
and gets nowhere. This can be backed up by the constant negative connotative words being used
by the author when speaking of others who are able to sleep. For example, in line seven the
author uses the word uneasy to describe the setting of a place where sleep is present for people,
and in line thirteen, Shakespeare uses the word loathsome as a nab at the beds that are hardly any
good yet are still able to provoke sleep. The King s desperation is also shown when the author
evokes an entity with the utmost of negative connotation and

Victorianism Versus Modernism
Matias Gutierrez

Victorianism in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Modernism in The Metamorphosis
Victorianism is about how the individual could improve the society. They believed that a good
individual could make the society better as a whole and therefore improve life. Victorians focused
on science and the desire for extremely realistic portrayal of life in both literature and art. Some
aspects of Victorian thinking were retained while others were discarded in a new movement called
Modernism. Modernists focus on the individual but have the view that humans are beings without
free will and that they do not look for guidance within them, but instead are driven by ... Show more

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde showed people that being a good person is the best
thing to do for society and for the individual.
The reason Jekyll is a good example to show the Victorian qualities of science exploration and
the effects the individual has on the world is explained by Masao, In this society of respectables
Dr. Jekyll stands out as the very pink of the proprieties (Chap. 1). Although his studies, like those
of Faust and Frankenstein before him, tend toward the mystic and the transcendental (Ch. 10), he
still manages to maintain a considerable scientific reputation. And yet, despite Jekyll s social role
in fact, because of it it is Jekyll who brings for Mr. Hyde. (Masao 470 480) Masao explains why
Jekyll underwent his transformation and how science heavily influenced his thinking to try this
experiment. Masao also explains that science is possible through the well mannered people of the
time and their questioning of ways to improve society. The Modernism Period was about the
individual and that the individual could not really change society. The Modernist literary period
was marked by the reactions and sentiments towards global change and tragedy. The Modernist
movement began around 1890 and lasted to 1945. Now during this time the World Wars wreaked
havoc on the most culturally, technological, and industrialized parts of the world; which caused
people to want to create

Analysis Of Andrew Davis s Career
Andrew Davis started his career in journalism in Spain, as a freelancer. He then got a staff
position with Bloomberg and now is a reporter for Bloomberg in Honk Kong. Although he
started his career many years ago, his experience was very interesting to me, since he manage to
make the transition from freelance journalist to staff correspondent. He was at the right place at
the right moment: Bloomberg was starting its operation in Europe in that period, and, as Davis
said, It was desperately looking for reporters in Spain. He also has many connections in Europe,
where he worked for several years as a correspondent for the news agency. Davis was very
optimistic about my endeavor. At the end of our talk on Skype, he said that he would hook me
up with several contacts he has in Brussels, if I decide to go there. This is a summary of our talk
on Skype, which lasted more than 30 minutes. I was interested in Spain because I had spent a
semester there during my undergraduate studies, and I wanted to go back. I managed to get a
kind of professional Fulbright: It lasted only six months, was for working journalists and required
the completion of an independent project. I worked on the advent of private television in Spain,
and how it changed how news was covered, particularly the Gulf War. I did a lot of reading and
spent some time at different Spanish TV stations, watching how they worked. Then, I started
freelancing. Before I went over, I contacted a bunch of main news

2012, The Supreme Court ruled the Federal Government does not have the constitutional right to

place a tax on citizens that do not carry insurance. This ruling is in response to President Obama
s Patient Protection and Healthcare Act of 2010. Passed on March 23, 2010, President Obama s

that are uninsured by 2014. As well as expanding Medicaid, it will provide exchanges, which are

That mostly depends on our Presidential election in November. If a Republican wins office they
could option not to enforce the act or overturn it during Legislative session. As long as Governor
Perry is in office, there will be no expansion of Medicaid until at least 2014. Since, Governor
Perry is not expanding the Medicaid system, as a state will need to prepare for higher insurance
premiums to cover the costs that Medicaid does not. The state will need to revamp the state
Medicaid system because our population is rising higher than the cost of healthcare. As of
December of 2011 total enrollment in Medicaid was 3,652,591. This cost the state of Texas 12.8
billion dollars, paid for by our taxpayers. As our state population increases it is estimated 1.2
million newly eligible Texans for Medicaid, and by 2019 it will cost the state and additional 5.3
billion in taxes (Texas Health and Human Services Commission, 2012). Rick Perry told Fox
news on July 8th, 2012 that Texas wouldn t be a part of socializing healthcare, and the only
solution to fixing Texas healthcare is to have the Federal Government block grant the state
funding to fix the healthcare options instead of giving a one size fits all, cookie cutter solution
(News, 2012). Even state Medicaid Chief, Billy Millwee supports Perry. In an interview to The
Texas Tribune he calls Medicaid,

  • 2. Advantages Of White Noise Machine Best White Noise Machine: Buyer s Guide Noise is something that most people would not associate with a good night s sleep. First of all, we sleep to experience a state of peaceful tranquility that differs greatly from the chaos of our waking day. No one goes to bed thinking, I wish I could still hear my boss shouting at me or I wish my partner could snore louder. However, there is the kind of noise that can block of all the ugly noises that we hear on our head. The sound of the crashing waves of the ocean or the sound of raindrops can have a calming effect on our heads and we would gladly choose them over the sound of passing cars or bickering neighbors. This is precisely the reason why those who are in the business of sleep decided to create a machine that produces calming white noise sounds that can improve the quality of one s sleep. The white noise machine is used as a meditative device to allow the mind to focus on the soothing sound and not on the unfiltered sounds produced by our surroundings. ... • 3. She Ain T Right Essay The happiest, most exciting memories I hold on to are often accompanied by a country song, whether it be playing in the background, or roaring over the speakers. Songs are written for people to feel and relate to the emotion the songwriter and singer put behind the lyrics. Growing up having my dad be my role model and most influential person in my life, I often find myself in things that remind me of him or our memories, along with songs that describe a girl who is fearless and lives on the edge at times, as if there are no consequences. For me, this is especially true listening to the song She Ain t Right, by Lee Brice, which highlights my personality and strength I got from my dad, my sense of fearlessness, and my constant seeking out of adventure. Growing up, I was, and am, my dad s little sidekick. We are best friends. Naturally, being such a daddy s girl, I picked up his habits, which include being expressive via curse words and not filtering my thoughts before saying them out loud. She Ain t Right begins with a line She got her Daddy s tongue and temper, sometimes her mouth could use a filter. These words could not resonate with me any more! There have even been several times I catch myself asking, Woah, is that my voice in my head, or Dad s? The very first time I ever heard my dad curse was in Target at the checkout. I can t recall exactly what upset him, however, I m pretty sure my brother or I were on his nerves, but he walked away after he checked out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Mikhall Kalotozov s I Am Cuba Loose A Sense... The protagonists in Mikhall Kalotozov s I am Cuba loose a sense of what of the meaning of life but also mainly themselves. Throughout the film there is a rollercoaster of constant reoccurring loss of innocence but once again is brought back since each character is started off as an innocent. To be innocent means to be pure of heart and without guilt. An innocent person has not done any wrong. It ties into the film because each of the three of the personas start off with the smile but is soon stripped from them for whatever reason. The cycle first starts off with the persona of Maria. In the beginning of the film she is shown walking down the street casually talking to the fruit seller, also known as the fiancГ©, RenГ©. As Maria is taking to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When she says she is scared, she is seen in a spaghetti strap black dress wearing a crucifix around her neck. The black dress could be a reference to the fact that her innocence has died along with her personality and identity. As Jim leaves he gives Maria money in exchange for her crucifix, now she has not only lost the last piece of her personality and but the last ounce of innocence she had. One reason that Maria would be scared is due to the fact that she has two personalities, one of which is kept on the down low. The personality kept under locks is the one that is referred to as Betty the club worker, possibly prostitute. The choice of the name Betty as Maria s stage name probably wasn t at random. In the late 1920 s into the 1930 s Betty Boop was created to represent flapper girls. Flappers were young girls who had yet to enter womanhood. They embraced their free spirit and had many uncontrolled acts of fun with treating sex as something casual. After Maria and Jim have sex and after she is caught by her fiancГ© she just lays there totally emotionless. The emotionless face she give could be a sign of the fact the sex didn t mean anything. Life sucks then gets better and then sucks again. The second protagonist is a farmer named Pedro. Pedro is an old peasant who had it all but then lost completely everything and as soon as his life was getting better he lost ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Effect Of Surface Residues On Weeds Crop residue may be kept in the field in both CT and NT systems (CT+Res and NT+Res, respectively). In CT+Res the residue is incorporated into the soil, with the depth of mixing dependent upon type of tillage. Although incorporated residue may affect weeds via altered nutrient dynamics, the effects will be highly dependent on the type of tillage used, the carbon to nitrogen ratio of the residue, the type of soil, and the environment it will therefore be difficult to extract useful generalities (Liebman and Mohler, 2001, p. 236). Consequently, in this review we focus on the effects of surface residues on weeds. 3.1Residue Seedbank 3.1.1Losses 3.1.1.1Germination Surface residues can affect seed germination via physical and chemical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As such, decreased weed seed germination due to insufficient light availability is likely not a major advantage of residue retention. Surface residue decreases the daily maximum soil temperature but has little effect on the daily minimum (Teasdale and Mohler, 1993) resulting in two changes: cooler average soil temperatures and less drastic fluctuations. Most agronomic crops and many weeds require soil temperatures above a certain threshold in order to germinate the lower soil temperatures under surface residue would therefore delay germination of both. This delayed germination and resulting shorter growing season of the crop can reduce yield; as such it is important to find the amount of residue which optimizes yield rather than weed control (Wicks et al., 1994). In addition to later germination, some weed species germination is enhanced by larger temperature fluctuations (Liebman and Mohler, 2001, p. 239); the buffered soil temperature could therefore reduce germination rates. Surface residue will conserve soil moisture how this affects germination rates will depend on the environment. In water limited environments, residue may promote germination while in wetter conditions it may have little effect. This is exemplified by a study done in Zimbabwe, where residue was more effective in suppressing weeds in wetter sites (Ngwira et al., 2014). Allelopathy is the phenomenon in which a plant produces biochemicals which affect the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. James Loewen The Land Of Opportunity In his essay, The Land of Opportunity, James Loewen made many interesting points; and although I didn t necessarily agree with all of them, I still found this to be an interesting and very informative read. Loewen brought up many points which I have never heard before, and I specifically found his thoughts on high schoolstudents and their thoughts on social classes very interesting. I liked the point that Loewen made when he said that The students blame the poor for not being successful, because often high school students are taught that the key to success is simply hard work. However, while hard work may help, it is often simply fate or the social standing of one s family that determines if one is successful. One can t find fame simply ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nationalism is strong in all three nations; in two of them there are a lot of racism, chauvinism, separatism; and now we are supposed to make a state out of that ( Alija Izetbegovic Quote ). This quote clearly reflects the Bosnian ethnic conflict. It states seemingly that there is a lot of racism between each ethics and they want their own state. The ethnic conflict occurred in a really long time since Bosnian separated from Yugoslavia. Then, there is Bosnian Genocide that took place between 1992 and 1995. • 8. Attack On Darwin The Japanese attack on Darwin on the 19th February 1942, did not happen by chance but from the work of a major contributing factor leading to various consequences and eventually cementing the event as a significant one. If we look to the ultimate cause behind the attack on Darwin, it can be seen that it was part of a strategic plan to deny the Allies to interfere with Japan s invasion of Timor. However, for the invasion to be successful, Darwin had to be taken out of the equation as Darwin could be used to base the Allies potentially preventing Japan in it advancements. In their fast paced advancements, an underlying fear began to build as Japan s military force began to steer towards Australian borders. When the air raids actually did happen,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, the major significance behind the attack on Darwin was that it was the first time the war entered within Australian borders. The civilians of the time had suffered through the trauma through the lost of loved ones, destruction and damaged property. The relevance that the event still has on today s society can be seen when Japan s senior vice minister for Economy Tadahiro Matsushita stated Japan had caused tremendous damage and suffering to people of many countries, which was a cause of deep remorse and a heartfelt apology . • 11. Genetically Modified Organism, Agriculture, And Synthetic... Genetically Modified Organism Agriculture, a necessity for providing basic needs, has evolved tremendously since the first time it was practiced. When first started, agriculture was relatively simple: plant the seeds, water the seeds, and gather the end product. Now, agriculture has changed to include pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers to produce and maintain higher yields. The Green Revolution in the 1940 s to 1970 s help modernize agriculture with high yielding varieties, better irrigation systems, and synthetic fertilizers. Without the Green Revolution, world hunger would have been a lot higher than it was in the past (Easterbrook 1997). Conventional farming was established thanks to the revolution and helped greatly in keeping world food security. The world is still a limited resource and the amount of fertile land that allows production of agriculture can only decrease from now. Current production of agriculture may not be able to keep up with the steady population growth of the developing countries. The population is projected to increase from roughly 7 billion currently to 9.1 billion by 2050, meaning that there will be 2 billion more mouths to feed (UNPD). Agriculture needed something new to help provide higher yields of crops in order to keep world hunger levels at a minimum. Luckily in the mid 1990 s, genetically modified organism, or GMO, crops were implemented on a large scale in the United States. Genetically modified organism is an organism ... • 12. Essay on Nursing Care Plan Pathophysiology Patient: M.H. 80 year old female experiencing renal failure. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a disease that is described as a loss of kidney function gradually over time. As kidney function decreases, the waste collection in the body s blood becomes high and makes the individual feel sick. This disease can lead to other complications in the body such as anemia, poor nutritional health, high blood pressure, and nerve damage. These complications will begin to progress and show as CKD progresses to advanced stages. Early detection of this disease is essential when it comes to treatment. If CKD is diagnosed early enough the disease progression can be slowed down and managed. This disease will eventually lead to failure of the kidneys ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The amount of filtration done by the kidneys will obviously cause negative effects throughout the body if they are not functioning properly. CKD will cause the body to retain many excess fluids and waste that are normally filtered out to prevent internal harm throughout the body. With kidney disease there will be a rise in blood pressure due to the amount of extra fluid that is retained in the blood vessels. This fluid retention will cause the passageways to become narrow and make blood passage through the vessels increasingly difficult, in turn causing an increase in blood pressure. There will also be an increase in protein and blood found in the urine because it is not filtered out properly by the kidneys. Swelling will occur in the extremities and around the eyes because of the fluid retention as well. The longer the urine goes unfiltered the harder it may become to urinate due to pain or blockage or there may be more frequent night time urination (The National Kidney Foundation, 12). There are also a few tests that will show whether or not the kidneys are filtering the body s fluids as they should. A simple urinalysis can be done to detect protein or blood in the urine. This will alert the medical professionals to a possible problem with the proper functioning of the kidneys. There are also Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN), creatinine, and glomerular filtration rate (GFR) tests that will measure the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. My Lai the Great Massacre Essay My Lai the Great Massacre The Olson and Roberts book, My Lai is based upon the March 18, 1968, assault on My Lai. By examining the material, an explanation of why this massacre occurred is drawn. The main factors that lead to the My Lai assault were difficulty engaging with the enemy and the problem of distinguishing between the enemy soldiers and civilians, which both led to rage and frustration among soldiers and a misinterpretation of the mission. On March 17, 1968, a mission was given to the Charlie company to go into the village of My Lia or Pinktown, and engage in battle with the enemy. William Calley testified that the sight of men killed in a land mine during an operation brought out feelings of hate and fear towards the Vietnamese (Olson, Calley, p.52). While the American soldiers were being wounded or killed the enemy was rarely to be seen or shot at. The soldiers were frustrated that their friends were being killed by the enemy, but they could not find the enemy to kill them. This lead American soldiers into My Lai with the attitude to seek revenge for previous casualties and that nothing would stop them (Olson, Roberts, Peers Report, p.54). 3Distinguishing between the enemy soldiers and civilians was another factor of why this massacre occurred. The problem of not knowing who the enemy was also led to fear and frustration within the American soldiers. The enemy was not dressed in uniform so they were not easily detected. Some civilians were helping the Vietcong and the North Vietnamese Army. Some would be civilians by day and snipers at night. Even children would coddle up to jeeps and drop hand grenades in the jeep (Olson, Roberts, Peers Report, p.54). The soldiers were becoming very frustrated because they did not know who to be friends with. The misinterpretation of the mission by the captains and the soldiers also led to the My Lai massacre . No.4: Plasma concentration vs time profile of a controlled release form. пѓ This means that they are actually controlling the drug concentration in the body, not just the release of the drug from the dosage form, as is the case in a sustained release system. пѓ Another difference between sustained and controlled release is that the former are basically restricted to oral dosage forms while controlled release systems are used in routes like transdermal, oral and vaginal administration. пѓ Periodic administration of a drug by conventional means, such as taking a tablet every four hours, can result in constantly changing systemic drug concentrations with alternating periods of ineffectiveness and toxicity. Controlled release systems attempt to maintain a therapeutic concentration of a drug in the body for an extended time by controlling the rate of delivery of the drug. пѓ Controlled release systems are not necessarily target specific, which means that they do not exclusively deliver the drug to the target organ. The book named Native Son by Richard Wright is listed as among the top 100 books by the American Library Association. Native Son by Richard Wright was written in 1940. The protagonist in the story is a 20 year old named Bigger Thomas, a black boy; who lives in a poor area on Chicago s South Side in the 1930s. Life has value, but death is not simply another thing that happens to human beings. Bigger s attitude gradually changes from not having a true meaning of life to having a true meaning of life. Reference to Elle Hearn s quote, who is a strategic adviser, said that, It s not just about changing laws, hearts, and minds, it s about actually changing action. From his perspective, he actually means to change the course of humanity for the better. In the novel, Bigger realizes that an action of changing life s meaning into something better helped him to change his own life. Although he couldn t acknowledge that he was an educated person, he still had the time to correct his mistakes and to put off death by living for others. The importance of the book and the article helped to draw attention to the main theme, which is reflecting the behavior of the white society and revealing its true meaning. Jamestown was uniquely harsh, and I could somewhat say the same about the Plymouth plantation as well. In a matter of fact, the Jamestown and Plymouth plantation caused a ruckus in their towns/state, enough ruckus to maintain it s name and strength of time. Starting with Jamestown, it was a scarce plantation. Sailors got what they called better paid due to the ships staying for a longer. They weren t paid in money, but they were paid with bread, which was a good item to sell, barter, and love etc. There was something established called the surprise attack. This attack included Smith unexpectedly returning, the Spaniard greedily desiring gold, and Smith gets shot in the thigh. Jamestown s plantation was violent, and deceiving. Leading to the Plymouth Plantation, although the ships were very compact, they had an abundance of things accomplished. There were a lot of sicknesses and cursing. • 22. Feudalism and How It Affected Old England Feudalism was a very important aspect in developing the political organization in medieval England. It was one of dominant governments used by the nobles. Feudalism was when one of the king s noblemen would give land to a man known as a fief and give the fief people to work the land for him. These people are known as serfs. The fief would then protect the serfs from being attacked as long, as long as the serfs worked the land to provide an income for the fief. If the fief accepted the nobles offer he would have to swear his allegiance to the king. After he swore to the nobles the fief would become a vassal to the noblemen. When the fief became a vassal he would have to provide military services or any other type of service to the king. A fief could also become a noble lord and could give some of his land away to other people known as fiefs. This process would be known as subinfeudation and this could go all the way up to the king. Feudalismwas pretty much the only government at the time of medieval England. Feudalism came about because of the weak political groups and non existent governments. The king would use feudalism as a way to show his power and make sure his military strength was strong. The use of this political organization slowly died out. Six Habits of Christian Thought The author lists the six commandments Paul states that form the habit of Christian thought. (1) Think about those things. Let go of the negatives and have Christ like thoughts. (2) Think with discernment. Think on Jesus the Truth not on facts alone. Not all facts are true. (3) Think honorable thoughts. These thoughts dwell on praise, worship, and thanksgiving. We are God s workmanship to which we owe only praise and thanksgiving. (4) Think just thoughts. • 27. Underlying Neurobiological Processes It has been agreed in the literature that memories can generally be defined in terms of time (Nader, Schafe LeDoux, 2000). Memory is sensitive to disruption soon after learning as it is in a labile state of short term memory (STM). Conversely, memory enters a stable form and is less sensitive to such disruptions in long term memory(LTM) at a later stage after learning (Nader et al.). Research has argued that the process in which labile new memories transform into stable long lasting memories is known as consolidation (Nader et al.). After memories are consolidated, they can re enter states of transient instability, making them vulnerable to disruption immediately after retrieval (Yue et al., 2012; Si et al., 2012). This is known as memory reconsolidation (Yue et al.; Si et al.). Finally, the re exposure to a particular context without reinforcement can lead to memory extinction (Merlo Romano, 2008).That is, the temporary weakening of an earlier conditioned response can lead to extinction (Merlo Romano). However, the number of events or duration of a single event in that exposure will determine whether memory extinction or reconsolidation is activated (Merlo Romano). Although learning to fear danger is essential to survival, many anxiety disorders are underpinned by the dysregulation of the fear system (OyarzГєn et al., 2012). Accordingly, much research has been dedicated to developing strategies for supressing fear memories in maladaptive cases (OyarzГєn et al.; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gatsby is depicted as a pleasant gentleman even though he does turn to bootlegging as a resource for money. He does all of this only to be reunited with the one woman he falls in love with, Daisy. In the novel it is stressed that Gatsby and Daisy spent countless amounts of time together in their youth which elucidates why Gatsby tries so hard trying to refabricate those moments. He feels as if that is what will make him content. He wants to be with her because he knows of no one better and he is bound to her because of what they used to have. Gatsby s love for Daisy is expressed in various chapters of the novel: He hadn t once ceased looking at Daisy, and I think he revalued everything in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well loved eyes (90). This quote depicts how Gatsby is enthralled with Daisy and he enjoys that she is impressed with his possessions because he becomes rich for her. The fact that she loves his money and what he gets with it makes him believe she loves him as well as his belongings. Another occasion in which Gatsby is seen as a pleasant person is when he watches Daisy from a distance to make sure everything is alright after Myrtle s death transpired. Narcissism Research Paper Introduction In this current society, an increasing number of people discuss one controversial debate everywhere: Are younger adults more narcissistic than previous people? In fact, when people select one side of this debate, they are supposed to know two essential questions: what is truly meaning about narcissism? How does this debate originate from? In general, Narcissism, originated from the Greek mythology, is used to describe the action or habit of someone s self complacence. Surprisingly, it has a totally different explanation in psychology. As Jean M. Twenge (2006) mentioned in her article named On Army of one: Me, Narcissism is one of the few personality traits that psychologists agree is almost completely negative. Narcissists are overly focused on themselves and lack empathy for others, which means they cannot see another person s perspective (para. 22). Before they did this horrible tragedy, they recorded a videotape and said some narcissistic words and did some cold blooded actions, like making a shooting noise , said Isn t it fun to get the respect we re going to deserve? Several people believe that 16 year olds can handle the responsibility of votingas it is an important skill as a citizen to have a say in what will have a direct impact on them in the future. However, this statement can be highly controversial as many believe they make rational decisions based on lack of experience and maturity. Today in our modern society, 16 year olds are open to a wide range of opportunities that allow them to apply and manage skills of responsibility yet planting their safety in the hands of their own future. A sixteen year old Australian citizen has the ability to create a family, work full time, join the armed forces, pay taxes and yet the right to vote for their country is denied. This interpretation is incorrect. The provision does not preclude the Association from defending itself in the face of a lawsuit. Rather, it sets a condition under which the Association may act on behalf of the owners for the purpose of litigation. A vote could be conducted to spend money on a defense should the Association be sued, or the owners could choose to default, just like any other defendant is free to choose. However, as indicated above, this is not really a choice as an association does not have realistic chance of being able to take the necessary action to respond to the complaint in such a short time period. By way of example, if a one hundred (100) unit association is sued for $1,000,000. The association has twenty one (21) days to file an answer, but fails to either a) find a location and/or schedule a meeting in time or b) holds the meeting, but cannot obtain a quorum of members. The twenty one (21) days elapses and the circuit court clerk enters a default against the association. Each co owner would be forced to pay $10,000 to satisfy the default judgment merely because the board of directors was prevented from hiring an attorney to defend the lawsuit. Accordingly, HB 4446 would prevent these types of situations from taking place and provide the board of directors of a condominium association with authority to defend a ... When looking at the statistics of child poverty from the past, it is clear that there was an increasing number of families and children living in poverty. This trend dates back to the year 2000 when 11.6 million people were living in poverty. In 2007, the number of individuals suffering from poverty rose to 13.4 million, (Arrighi Maume, 2007). This is due to the massive economic fallout, also known as the Great Recession. The United States lost over 7.5 million jobs and the unemployment rate doubled, which directly impacted parents and their children, (Grusky etc., 2011). This crisis resulted in leaving many Americans financially insecure. Even though many of the financially stable individuals suffered a great loss, they were able to utilize their resources to navigate through the calamity and recover whereas those who were poor faced an economic issue with greater impact. They were faced with foreclosures, bankruptcies and mortgage felonies. Most importantly, the lives of the young children were negatively impacted as well. The four areas that the children were affected by from the Great Recession were: health, hunger, housing, abuse and neglect, (Wiltz 2015). Set in Rome and spanning from forty four to forty two B.C., the play tells of Brutus and Caesar whom both fall from the highest positions to the lowest of misfortune and then are enlightened on their mistakes. Brutus is the stronger example of a tragic hero in this story. Throughout this play, Brutus commits many faults, falls more drastically than all other characters, and regrets his previous actions by the end of the play. Through these final moments of Brutus s life, the audience of the play can truly see that Brutus is not lying about his love of Caesar, but that he honestly regrets participating, and is sympathetic about the last years of his life. Brutus, even though he has made many mistakes throughout his life, he makes one final one with his last action. Unfortunately, the audience does not know whether or not he regrets committing suicide. The Quintet follows the general guidelines for form that audiences of the time have come to expect from serious string chamber music pieces. The first movement acts as a Sonata form with some unexpected variation, the second as a three part song form. The third and fourth movements begin to some unconventional practices. The reason Jekyll is a good example to show the Victorian qualities of science exploration and the effects the individual has on the world is explained by Masao, In this society of respectables Dr. Jekyll stands out as the very pink of the proprieties (Chap. 1). Although his studies, like those of Faust and Frankenstein before him, tend toward the mystic and the transcendental (Ch. 10), he still manages to maintain a considerable scientific reputation. And yet, despite Jekyll s social role in fact, because of it it is Jekyll who brings for Mr. Hyde. • 52. Analysis Of Andrew Davis s Career Andrew Davis started his career in journalism in Spain, as a freelancer. He then got a staff position with Bloomberg and now is a reporter for Bloomberg in Honk Kong. Although he started his career many years ago, his experience was very interesting to me, since he manage to make the transition from freelance journalist to staff correspondent. He was at the right place at the right moment: Bloomberg was starting its operation in Europe in that period, and, as Davis said, It was desperately looking for reporters in Spain. He also has many connections in Europe, where he worked for several years as a correspondent for the news agency. Davis was very optimistic about my endeavor. At the end of our talk on Skype, he said that he would hook me up with several contacts he has in Brussels, if I decide to go there. This is a summary of our talk on Skype, which lasted more than 30 minutes. I was interested in Spain because I had spent a semester there during my undergraduate studies, and I wanted to go back. I managed to get a kind of professional Fulbright: It lasted only six months, was for working journalists and required the completion of an independent project. I worked on the advent of private television in Spain, and how it changed how news was covered, particularly the Gulf War. • 53. The Healthcare Reform Act in Texas The consequence of The Patient Protection and Affordable Healthcare Act in Texas On June 28, 2012, The Supreme Court ruled the Federal Government does not have the constitutional right to sanction an individual to buy health insurance, but declared that the states do have the right to place a tax on citizens that do not carry insurance. This ruling is in response to President Obama s Patient Protection and Healthcare Act of 2010. Passed on March 23, 2010, President Obama s Reform Act mandates Texas, as well as the nation, to provide Medicaid funding to all individuals that are uninsured by 2014. As well as expanding Medicaid, it will provide exchanges, which are pools of insurance companies a previously uninsured person can pick... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That mostly depends on our Presidential election in November. If a Republican wins office they could option not to enforce the act or overturn it during Legislative session. As long as Governor Perry is in office, there will be no expansion of Medicaid until at least 2014. Since, Governor Perry is not expanding the Medicaid system, as a state will need to prepare for higher insurance premiums to cover the costs that Medicaid does not. The state will need to revamp the state Medicaid system because our population is rising higher than the cost of healthcare. As of December of 2011 total enrollment in Medicaid was 3,652,591. This cost the state of Texas 12.8 billion dollars, paid for by our taxpayers. As our state population increases it is estimated 1.2 million newly eligible Texans for Medicaid, and by 2019 it will cost the state and additional 5.3 billion in taxes (Texas Health and Human Services Commission, 2012). Rick Perry told Fox news on July 8th, 2012 that Texas wouldn t be a part of socializing healthcare, and the only solution to fixing Texas healthcare is to have the Federal Government block grant the state funding to fix the healthcare options instead of giving a one size fits all, cookie cutter solution (News, 2012). Even state Medicaid Chief, Billy Millwee supports Perry. In an interview to The Texas Tribune he calls Medicaid, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
