Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots
l Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my
favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the knots
originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical study of
knot theory. So my question now is, How has the knot theory in mathematics influenced and shaped
the tradition of Celtic Knots? Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as tying a
shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are joined at
the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be described
in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3 D dimensional Euclidean space but in a
bit simpler language, a knot is created by putting a flat circle into 3 D space; therefore making it 3 D.
You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you can not just round it out; this
would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus creating a knot. Knots can be
described in many different ways. For example; a common method of describing a knot is called a
knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can be drawn. A fundamental
problem is presented here though, due to the fact that you must determine when a knot is represented
by more than one description. A full algorithmic solution does exist to help solve the problem, but

Analysis Of Verses Upon The Burning Of Our House
Anne Bradstreet was and is a highly regarded Puritan poet of seventeenth century American literature.
She defied cultural expectations of women at the time and became the first accomplished woman poet
of the New World. As evident in her poetry, she was strictly loyal to God and her Puritan beliefs, but
she was not exempt from grief and doubt in the face of tragedy. Some, however, would argue that her
grief and doubt in response to those tragedies showed a stray from her strict Puritan belief system.
One controversial tragic event, in particular, that she wrote about exemplified her struggle between
earthly desires and heavenly truths: the blaze that overtook her family s home. Anne Bradstreet, in her
poem Verses upon the Burning of Our House, demonstrates the common internal conflict of Christians
as she battles between her Puritan theology and her innate human emotions in response to her
devastating house fire.
Anne was born in the early seventeenth century in England. She was privileged with an excellent
education because her father, Thomas Dudley, was a steward to a prominent figure. She married
Simon Bradstreet at just sixteen years of age while still residing in England. When Anne was still a
teenager, the Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Company made the decision to leave and settle
together in the New World, the Dudleys and Bradstreets journeyed with them. In contrast to the way
she was raised, the life of settlers proved to be difficult in the colony because of

Doing Business in Another Country
Executive Summary
In order to successfully introduce a product into a foreign market it is important to know the culture of
the country you plan to do business in. In order to introduce mobile handsets into a market like
Venezuela, the supplier must be well acclimated with the purchasing habits, tastes, and willingness to
purchase the product that is being sold. Understanding these things starts with building a knowledge
base about the major aspects of the culture and your target consumer. With this being said I am
providing a brief overview of the country of Venezuela.
Venezuela boasts a population of well over 27 million, and represents a large potential market for any
firm looking to do business within the country, because it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This is very intriguing for a society that has a high unemployment rate. Most of Venezuela s
population finds itself educated because public education is provided. Even though education is free,
there is an astounding 20 % of the population that has received no formal education at all. This is
outrageous because Venezuela has a compulsory educational system, which means that people are
required to by law to go to attend school for 9 years. This shows that even though education is
provided for free there are still families so poverty stricken that they are not able to send their children
to school; because they need to work to provide more support for the families. The children that do go
through the public education system can attend Universities which are also free. Although the
education in Venezuela is provided for free, this is also a reason why the education system is not the
greatest. Providing education from grade school through college stretches educational funds thin,
which results in each level of education being under funded. It has already been established that the
majority of the people of Venezuela are literate. In this society there are jobs that require the certain
skills such as a lawyers, judges, politicians, or businessmen etc; but in the society as a whole basic
skills are being seen as all that is required for the average person. As mentioned earlier Venezuela is a
society that relies heavily on the production of

A Farewell To Arms Research Paper
Forces such as love and religion are incapable of compensating for the ominous realities of life.
Frederic Henry says farewell to the battle arms and weaponry used in the war and to the arms of his
lover, Catherine Barkley throughout the course of the novel.
Thesis: The novel A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway uses imagery to illuminate the
emotional, physical, mental scars the world inflicts on all individuals.
Paragraph One: Stick: emotional scar on her heart
War doesn t merely leave physical scars on soldiers, it can leave deep emotional scars on loved ones.
The first time Henry meets Catherine Barkley he is fond of her beauty. He also notices that She was

The relationship between Henry and Catherine initially served as a means of alleviating life s
difficulties such as the pain of war and grievances but grew into a reality with Catherine s pregnancy.
The doctor was sewing up the great long, forcep spread, thick edged, wound (325). This action makes
Frederic feel uncomfortable and is a reminder of the pain he has inflicted on Catherine. The physical
scar on her body has left a mental scar on Frederic after she passes away.
It was like saying good by to a statue (332). Statues represent a fallen hero and keep the memory of
the person alive. Catherine served as a hero in Frederic s life of the gentle, good, and brave qualities
she possessed.
After a while I went out and left the hospital and walked back to the hotel in the rain (332). Rain is a
surrogate for Frederic s feelings throughout the novel.
The world Kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially (249). The world is
unbiased when it kills but it leaves individuals with a mental

Advantages And Disadvantages Of The British Army
with the advantages, the British soldiers had more money to buy supplies such as weapons; they did
not have to worry about whether how many armed men were coming up to them and what weapons
were they carrying because they knew that they were the most powerful in this matter. As well as the
advantages, the British army had disadvantages. One of their disadvantages was that they fought from
home, which made them have poor communication with their leaders. The British had a hard job; they
needed to make the Americans to give up their claims of independence. The British army also had less
reasons to fight this war, they were fighting because it was their job, unlike the Americans who were
pursuing freedom. Additionally, the British were fighting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The British decided to end the war in part because of military setbacks but also because London
merchants were eager to renew trade with America. The British government had also concluded that
the war was not worth the cost. The war virtually becomes to an end in 1781 but, it was not until 1783
when the Treaty of Paris made it official. The Treaty of Paris served as a negotiation between the
United States and Great Britain as a way of ending the war. The American Congress named a group of
Americans to discuss the peace negotiation with the British; they included John Adams, John Jay and
Benjamin Franklin. Great Britain finally recognizes that the thirteen former colonies belong to the
Americans and they agreed that the Mississippi is part of the United States serving as a boundary. The
war for independence had effects in political, economic and social life. People started to be treated as
equal, this government became a form of government where power was given to people. Women
became politically active and thousands of slaves were set free. The Articles of Confederation were
created as a great outcome of the Revolutionary

Deadman s Pocket Literary Devices
Literary Analysis Collection 1 The stories The Leap , The Trip , and The Contents of the Deadman s
Pocket are all compared through literary elements. The literary elements used are characters, conflicts,
setting, and theme. The authors use different elements throughout the texts to reveal different things
about the main characters. Through these literary elements the characters have something revealed
about th em or they are taught a lesson. One way The Trip , The Leap , and The Contents of the
Deadman s Pocket are compared is through the characters. All three of the characters had risked their
lives in some way. Tom had risked his life to get a raise in his job. He had climbed onto the ledge
outside his apartment to get the yellow piece of paper that had flown out the window. While he was on
the ledge he nearly fell to his death. Anna had risked her life to save her daughter. Anna s house had

daughter. In doing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Leap , Anna faces and internal conflict of trying to save her husband or saving herself and her
unborn child. Anna ultimately decided to save herself and had grabbed onto a bar. Her external
conflict was finding a way to not fall from the trapeze. Murad from The Trip had an internal conflict
of deciding whether he should take the trip to Spain or just stay in Morocco. His external conflict was
making it to Spain. He had faced many hardships on the boat just to get to Spain, and then he had to
hide when he made it to Spain. Tom from The Contents of the Deadman s Pocket had an internal
conflict of figuring out if his job was worth risking his life for. Then he had an external conflict of not
falling off of the ledge. These conflicts are similar because the characters could lose something. The
conflicts are different in its context and how the characters solve the

Television s Impact On Television
One part of television that has always been a constant in a lot of programs is family. More particular,
the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around today. Family
television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very family oriented.
However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has changed drastically
with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way families are viewed on screen
and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television. One television show that aired
from 1951 1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a husband and a wife and their lives
together. They were a typical family in the 50s. Lucy stayed at home being a housewife at first while
Ricky would go out to work (Smith). The series even showed them sleeping in separate beds at that
time because we as the audience weren t allowed to see a couple sleep in the same bed. Later in the
series, Lucy became pregnant which wasn t a very common thing to show on television, especially at
that time (Garrison).
Typical families shown on television in the 1950s were a mother, father, and their children. One show
that started to break the mold was My Three Sons which premiered in 1960 and aired until 1972. My
Three Sons was about a widowed father raising his three sons on his own with the help of the kids
grandfather (Taflinger). In a matter of only ten years the family sitcom had

The Oral Hygiene Maintenance Of An Disabled Children
Preventive dentistry is still a comparatively new and least understood subject in our country as
maintenance of oral hygiene is often neglected and pushed aside . When it comes to the oral hygiene
maintenance of intellectually disabled children, it takes a backseat due to the more pressing need for
education and medical treatment . According to WHO, Oral health means more than good teeth; it is
integral to general health and essential for well being. We use our face and teeth as a front to face the
world. We speak, smile, taste, chew, express our self using our oro facial structure. Disease of this area
severely restricts our physical, psychological and social activities and thereby decreasing quality of
life. The wider meaning of oral health does not diminish the relevance of two globally leading oral
afflictions dental caries and periodontal diseases. Both can be effectively prevented and controlled
through a combination of community, professional and individual action.1,2
According to DSM 5 ( Diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders), Intellectual disability
(ID), also called Intellectual development disorder (IDD) or General learning disability, and formerly
known as mental retardation (MR), is a generalized neuro developmental disorder characterized by
significantly impaired intellectual and adaptive functioning. It is defined by an IQ score below 70 in
addition to deficits in two or more adaptive behaviors that affect everyday, general living. Once

Prisoner s Dilemma Examples
For the purpose of this discussion, I will discuss situations like the prisoner dilemma, in which rational
self interested people all do worse by independently pursuing self interest. The prisoner s dilemma
refers to a conflict in doing what is best for one s own interest over what is in the best interest of the
group; therefore, doing what is needed to receive the least amount of jail time for oneself. In the end,
each of the prisoners does better by failing to cooperate, but not as good if they had just cooperated

The Food On Biola University Is All Provided By Bon Appetite
The food on Biola University is all provided by Bon Appetite. In the beginning, I did not know that
Bon Appetite s food was Certified Humane so I decided to show support of humane treatment of
animals by going on a vegetarian diet. Since I could not go off campus to buy Certified Humane
groceries nor could I really afford buying healthy groceries, I decided to go vegetarian. I did the
vegetarian diet for two weeks and obtained protein through nuts, beans, and peanut butter. When I was
participating in the diet, I realized how common meat was a part of the dishes served for breakfast,
lunch, and dinner. It was often a central part of a dish, and meat was always served for every meal.
While protein is an essential part of a healthy diet, the amount offered is more than needed. After this
exercise, I am willing to consider giving up chicken or pork. I also definitely suggest going on a
vegetarian diet for at least a week or two to experience what it is like. I gained a broader perspective
when I did this diet and learned how vegetarians got their protein, why vegetarians did their diet, and
obtained a common ground to discuss about with vegetarians or vegans. I find that a vegetarian diet is
a lot easier than a vegan diet. Perhaps one should participate in a vegetarian diet for a week and then a
vegan diet for another week. In addition, to fully understand the purpose of such diet and effects of
such diet, one should perhaps journal their experience, note down what they would

The Role Of Mental Work In The Anticipation Of Future...
Bass identifies three process through which the anticipation of parenthood influences heterosexual
couples without children: 1) mental processes that lead women to be more likely than men to consider
parenthood when thinking about balancing work and life, 2) emotional processes that cause negative

lead men and women to adjust their career goals in the anticipation of future parenthood. The first is

Crime scene reconstruction is the process of determining or eliminating the events and actions that
occurred at the crime scene through analysis of the crime scene pattern, the location and position of

only involves scientific scene analysis, interpretation of the scene pattern evidence and laboratory

A loss contingency can be listed under liability when there is a high probability that the company will
lose the lawsuit. On the other hand, when a lawsuit is expected to be won which is the case of
Brandon s lawsuit , it should not be listed under assets. Rather, it should be annotated in the footnotes.
According to GAAP, contingencies that might result in gains usually are not reflected in the accounts
because to do so may cause recognition of revenue prior to its realization. (Becker, p. f6 39)
GKCO should have followed the rule of conservatism in this regards and not reflect the lawsuit in the
accounts because to do so might have caused recognition of revenue prior to its realization. This is
with accordance with GAAP. Becker, p. 39.
Was the footnote sufficient disclosure of this information?
Legally speaking, yes. Ethically speaking, no. GKCO did comply with U.S. generally accepted
accounting principles (GAAP) in regards to making adequate disclosures in the footnotes (Arens 48.)
However, GKCO should not have relied that anyone not familiar with footnotes disclosures would

Should GKCO have included the licensee s sales in Brandon s sales?
No, this was an obvious mistake committed by GKCO that ended up inflating Brandon s listed sales
by 50%. This mistake made Brandon look bigger than what it actually was but it did not increase his

Yes, you can. New milk can be added to previously refrigerated or frozen breast milk. It should never

student ran ministry on campus called Evangelical Mormon interaction (EMI). As a leader I preach
weekly 45minute lessons on Mormon doctrine or culture, giving the Christian response to them, and I

Aren t they Christian? My honest answer is no, Mormons follow a counterfeit Christ who can t save.
Mormons say that they have the complete, restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. But the Gospel and saving
power of Jesus needs no restoration, it was never broken. For Mormons to add to the Gospel actually
turns it in into something that stands in the face of, contrasting, the good news of Jesus. For Mormons
to truly follow Jesus they need to un restore their Gospel of Jesus.
The second thing I m writing you about is to let you know that this will not be my last time asking you
to partner with me in ministry. Throughout my 20s, I see myself going on many other missions trips
and taking on other ministries that could not pay well or at all all for the sake of the Jesus. Whenever
people donate to ministries it is common to not hear about how the trip went, what your money went
to, or what the next need is. I recognize this reality and want to counteract it. You all are a vital part of
what I do, in partnering with me in these ministries you should know how I m doing and what is

Military Deployment Has Affected The Family System
Throughout many years, military deployment has affected the family system. Especially young
children are effected by their parents shipping overseas since they are still are trying to figure out how
to cope without guidance during their development into adult years. In this particular study,
researchers examined adolescents between the ages of 12 18 to determine their thoughts about their
parents going into war. More specifically, researchers wanted to study the children s experiences with
ambiguous loss within their military families. Researchers hope to find ways in prevention and
intervention in order to reduce the feeling of uncertainty within adolescents. Sociologists determined
that the ambiguous loss theory provides explanation of the youth s responses from the study. If
children are uncertain of their parent s job entitlement then it helps with grieving, but may lead to
depression and effecting future relationship with others. When parental deployment occurs, family life
becomes a catastrophe since they are present for a short time. According to Boss, it is hard to set and
organize roles and responsibilities in a family setting when one or both supervisors are frequently
away. Another factor that was a part of the research was the Double ABC X framework, created by
McCubbin and Patterson. The letter A was commonly seen during the sample where parental
deployment and other stress factors, such as getting an A on a test, bothered the adolescent. In other

Causes And Risks Of Red Meat
Risks in Red Meats
Red meat is consumed in mass amounts all over the world. However, there are risks involved in
consuming so much red meat. Past research has tied red meat to increased risks of diabetes,
cardiovascular disease, certain cancers, as well as mad cow disease. Red meat intake also has an
increased risk of mortality and detrimental effects on the environment. What is put into the meat when
it is processed adds to these risks. There are some benefits to eating red meat such as getting essential
vitamins and minerals like B 12 and iron. It also gives people protein and helps make red blood cells.
Too much red meat intake negatively affects people s health, causes many problems, and creates
increased risks for diseases and certain cancers.
There are many risks when people eat high levels of red meat. A study suggests that the link between
consumption of red meat and heart disease may stem from gut microbes breaking down carnitine, a
compound found in red meat. These microbes help break down food, in the process forming a variety
of small compounds. One of these compounds is trimethylamine, which can be metabolized to form
trimethylamine N oxide (TMAO). TMAO has been associated with atherosclerosis, a disease in which
fat builds up in the arteries. A team led by Dr. Stanley L. Hazen and Robert A. Koeth asked people to
consume beef and a carnitine supplement, regular meat eaters produced more TMAO than vegans or
vegetarians (Torgan 2013). When participants took antibiotics to suppress gut microbes, they produced
less TMAO after eating carnitine (Torgan 2013). This study suggests that gut microbes are involved in
the production of TMAO from carnitine putting people more at risk for heart disease and cardiac
events like heart attacks, strokes, and death as well as atherosclerosis. These health issues lead to
cardiovascular risk and disease.
Red meat consumption is associated with increased risk of type 2 diabetes. A study found that three
extra servings of red meat every week increases the risk of developing diabetes by 50 percent (qtd. by
Scutti, 2013). With increased intake of red meat there is a higher risk for people to get type 2 diabetes.
Reducing red meat consumption by 0.5 servings per day had a

A Report On Pneumonia Vaccine
Pneumonia Vaccine Policies in Kenya
Tram Nguyen
Arizona State University Pneumonia Vaccine Policies in Kenya Pneumonia is a form of acute
respiratory infection which is caused by a bacterium called Streptococcus pneumoniae. Pneumonia is
transmitted via air borne droplets from coughing and sneezing, and it may also spread through blood.
In 2015, pneumonia killed 15 percent of all deaths in children under the age of five, becoming the
leading cause of death in children all over the world (World Health Organization [WHO], 2015a).
Many efforts were made to reduce the prevalence of pneumonia, including the free vaccination
program in 2011 against pneumonia in Kenya, which is supported by WHO and GAVI Alliance
(WHO, 2015b). However, in 2012, Kenya was still ranked among the 15 countries with the highest
number of deaths caused by pneumonia, suggesting problems with the current policies (Onyango,
Kikuvi, Amukoye, Omolo, 2012). This paper will evaluate these existing policies and discuss potential
solutions to overcome the epidemic of pneumonia in Kenya.

Social Class And Social System In The Elizabethan Era
Upper middle, middle and lower, these are the modern day classes Americans are familiar with. But
what many don t know is between 1558 1603, the Elizabethan Era, the same social class system was
already being used. The only difference was that they were more in depth. Although the social class
system is still in place today during the Elizabethan era it was used to place people in categories based
on their financial state, family history, and beliefs. The social classes of the Elizabethan era were
divided into three broad categories and subdivided into smaller specified groups. The broader
categories became known as estates ( Elizabethan Era ). There was the first, second and third estate.
The first estate consisted of clergy ( Social Order 58). Although they were all Roman Catholic clergy
these people were broken up into smaller sections. The smaller sections divided the ordained from the
unordained (Social Status and Community ). The Ordained were known as seculars an example of
someone who would fall under this division was the pope. The second estate, was of the nobility. The
nobility included anyone who worked for or was a part of the royal family. Besides the church this
estate held all the judicial and political power ( Social Order 60). They were many subdivisions in this
estate the main one was the monarch. It was composed of, kings, queens, dukes, counts, and different
ranks of knights (Ferraro 44). The third and final estate was for the poor. Granted, not all

Human Trafficking In East Asia
Human trafficking is a global problem in which globalization have had an important role. There are
many forms of trafficking in persons such as sexual exploitation the most known form , forced labor,
organ harvesting, etc. Its annual profit exceeds of 39 billion dollars, making it the third largest
international crime industry, only behind illegal drugs, and arms trafficking.
Traffickers use coercion, deception, or abduction to get their victims. They take advantage of the
vulnerability of children, woman, and men who live in poverty or are looking for more favorable
opportunities and lured them into leaving their home and travelling to what they assume will be a
better life, just to realize later it s not.

Francis Crick (8 June 1916 28 July 2004) was an English scientist who was most noted for being a co
discoverer of the structure of the DNA molecule in 1953 alongside James D. Watson.
Francis Crick Watson and Maurice Wilkins were jointly awarded the 1962 Nobel Prize for Physiology

A major challenge and cause of serious medical issues in Sub Saharan Africa is the lack of access to a
clean water supply. There are 345 million people that lack access to water in Africa. Unfortunately,
when water is available it is high in contamination. When wells are built and water sanitation facilities

Binge Drinking And The Minimum Legal Drinking Age

Binge Drinking and the Minimum Legal Drinking Age
In the year 1984, President Ronald Reagan enacted a law that increased the minimum drinking Age all
U.S states to 21 years. As a result, it is believed that the mortality rates due to road accidents reduced
from 5,000 in the 80 s to 2, 000 in 2005 (Dean Mooney). However, the issue of binge drinking
remains unsolved with learning institutions having to deal with it every semester. In response to this,
134 college presidents formed the Amethyst Initiative, which is, a proposal allowing persons aged
between 18 and 20 to consume alcoholic drinks Conversely, the Mothers against Drunk Driving
(MADD), which pushed for the enactment of the law in 1984 believes that the Amethyst Initiative is
misplaced. The push for a lower drinking age is a battle between the parental community and the
student fraternity. For the drinking age too be lowered the Amethyst Initiative must compile concrete
research and facts to support its findings. Nonetheless, historical data shows that increase in the
minimum legal drinking age results in a decrease in the amount of deaths. As argued by Barry,
Stellefson and Woosley, the MLDA clearly reduces alcohol consumption and its associated harms (8).
In light of this, one can argue that the minimum drinking age should remain at 21 as lowering it may
cause fatal consequences.
The factors can be broadly classified as internal, such as

What Is Occlusion As A Mechanical Instrument That...
Introduction: Occlusion has been described as the most important subject in all the disciplines of
dentistry, since it represents the way the teeth come together, and functions together. In restorative
cases, where the patient is completely or partially edentulous, an articulator is needed, which is a
mechanical device the holds the opposing casts, in order to be able to study the occlusion as in the
patients mouth. This device; articulator, has different objectives and types, that will be discussed in the
coming pages. Definition: An articulator is a mechanical instrument that represents the
temporomandibular joints and jaws. The attachment between the TMJ and jaws with the maxillary and
mandibular casts simulate some or all of the mandibular movements, which takes place around the
TMJ which is capable of undergoing complex movements. An articulator is considered as any
instrument which has a movable joint on which the maxillary and mandibular casts can be mounted.
These mandibular movements can be rotation around the hinge axis, rotation around the antero
posterior axis, rotation around the vertical axis, and translation. Numerous articulators are available
for the restoration of occlusion. Objectives: Holding the casts in the same relative position that takes
place in the mouth Allow motion similar to that TMJ s motion Duplicate the dental border movements
Diagnose dental occlusal conditions, in both, natural and artificial dentitions.

Negotiation Through Paradox, De Carlo

In Teaching Negotiation through Paradox, de Carlo, defines a paradoxical professorial stance, believed
to be useful in assisting students learn negotiation concepts and methods. De Carlo defines the
paradoxes as the following: 1) caring for the students while deliberately exposing them to frustration;
2) nurturing a lively, interactive course while respecting those students who prefer to remain silent; 3)
helping the students to be more autonomous while simultaneously manipulating them; 4) accepting
their vulnerability while nurturing their creativity; 5) maintaining both professional distance and

The goal of the students is to make recommendations about the highway. The project requires complex
decision making from the students. The simulation has four stages: in the first three stages, students
explore the information provided to them on a CD ROM. The CD ROM contains a simulation of a
deliberation over the highway project. Students are to discuss and debrief and record their
experiences. In the final stage, students need to organize a press conference. De Carlo believes these
simulations help students identify their emotions and the emotions of others, and use them as a
foundation to understanding negotiation.
In teaching through a paradox, de Carlo explains that we must rethink of the classroom as a
transitional space described as a place of creation and analysis. This space is intended to develop
coping skills in students who find negotiating frustrated. The professor serves as a mentor to facilitate
learning new ideas and skills with the aim of helping [students] be more effective in negotiation and
creative in life (355). However, de Carlo notes that authority should be present in classroom dynamics
while teaching through paradox. According to de Carlo, authority cannot be negotiated, but needs to
be present to create an environment that is both nurturing and frustrating. This will allow the professor
and the students to acknowledge recognition and respect, but also identify emotional cues needed

Babbage was so fascinated with designing his analytical engine that he never built one. One design
would suggest an improvement, then another, and another because he could never stop short of
perfection. Shortly before his death in 1871 he wrote: If I survive some few years longer, the
Analytical Engine will exist, and its works will afterwards be spread over the world. For more than a
century his work would lie dormant, waiting other times and other people to advance his seminal
ideas.
One of the few bright spots in Babbage s life was his friendship with Augusta Ada (1816 1852),

The Economic Model Growth Of Energy
Energy is one of the main drivers of economic and social development. Years ago, the only uncertainty
was the price of oil. Now the concern is if the current economic model growth is reasonable in a world
with limited energy resources. This has lead to more research in other forms of resources of energy.
Now we have other unconventional resources such as wind, solar, geothermal, water, and so on.
Energy demand is set to double by 2050 (Beckman, 2013). Therefore, greenhouse gases could double
by 2050 as well. Hence, renewable energy is vital. However seen as fossil fuel is still the dominate
source of energy, it makes it the current economic model growth rate somewhat unreasonable.
Acceleration rate in policy, technological innovation, and consumer expectations are making the
energy market increasingly complex. We would need innovation, incentives, investments and stronger
technical standards to reduce the world s energy intensity. When the industrial revolution began, the
amount of carbon in Britain in form of coal was as much as the carbon in Saudi Arabia in from of oil.
This coal improved the economy of Great Britain in 19th and thereafter. Just as coal production had its
peak and declined thereafter, is the same way the oil production would. About 55 of the 65 oil
producing countries have already peaked in production. Many of the other countries left are expected
to follow in the near future. Modern cities are fossil fuel dependent; even roads are made from
bitumen.

Use Specific Examples To Identify Weaknesses That Existed...
1. Use specific examples to identify weakness that existed in the internal control environment at
BISD. Based on the identified weaknesses, what improvements to the control environment would you

A. Inadequate documentation is a weakness that existed in the internal control environment. The
donors of the scholarship fund that expressed where they wanted their money to go, should have
document with the school scholarship committee. The recommendation that I would recommend is
that there be a certain teacher over the scholarship committee. Monthly reports should be given to the
principle, and the assistant superintendent for curriculum and instructions. When a scholarship is
given the principle and assistant superintendent for curriculum and instructions should all be notified.
If the donor wished that the money would go to someone in a certain program they also should be
notified.
B. Inadequate separation of accounts. All three the scholarships donations, the school fess, and the
concession stand should have their own accounts. The recommendation that I would offer would be, to
give each of the activity their own account. The fees and the on campus concession stand should not
be going in the same activity account nor should they be going into the booster club funds.
C. Inadequate design of monitoring controls. There were really no monitoring controls at all. Lambert

The Relationship Between Nissan And Mitsubishi
Description of the Situation
One of the most spoken and discussed issues in the business world has become establishing the
association between the Nissan and Mitsubishi car producers. After the scandal that occurred as the
Mitsubishi falsified its fuel economy tests, the cooperation with Nissan is like a lifeline to the
company. Nissan s decision to buy an influential share of Mitsubishi s assets is believed to bring
benefits to both participants of the process. While this deal would help the Mitsubishi corporation to

competition in the automobile industry, the alliance between the large Japanese and European car
producers is supposed to radically strengthen the positions of both companies on the market.
However, the formation of this alliance would not involve the complete merger of the companies.
Nissan shared information regarding taking a 34% stake in Mitsubishi Motors , which would allow

Chingachgook and Uncas are characters all folklores are about. They are the heroes that complete
impossible task to help others. Cooper also portrays, in his novel, the stiff upper class society and their
true desire to escape to the frontier. (Magill 448) Cora and Alice represent the stiff, elegant society.
The reader soon sees that under their refined life, they have a wanting to be freed ; from their upper
class society. They want to escape this boring life and be allowed to live. They see the frontier as this
pure, beautiful place where they can be freed of the control of their society. (448) Cooper uses
characters to portray his romanticism.
Romanticism can also be seen in The Last of the Mohicans in the plot. Cooper s plots favor emotions
over reasons. Cooper opens the novel with a historical atmosphere. However, this does not last for

Medical Insurance and Different Types of Coverage Essay
Are you aware that many Americans do not have medical insurance coverage? The recent passing of
the Affordable Care Act, mandates that Americans must have an insurance policy that provides
minimum essential coverage. Because of this, many Americans have been looking into different types
of healthcare coverage. Insurance companies can tailor a customer s health insurance plan so that it
meets their specific health needs, and budget. Good coverage, however, does not come cheap. The
customer will typically get what they pay for. Many different types of healthcare insurance offer
different types of coverage, such as premium cost, prescription costs, and co pays for emergency
visits.
PREMIUM COSTS
When a person choses a health insurance plan, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The average cost of health insurance in the United States is approximately $411 per month for
individual coverage and approximately $1155 per month for family coverage ( How Much Is Average
Health Insurance per Month? , n.d.). As you can see, monthly premium costs can also become
expensive. Premium costs are not the cost associated with health insurance. Healthcare coverage
commonly has other annual costs. The most common annual cost is called an annual deductible. It
works in the same manner as a deductible for damages to an automobile. Deductibles are paid in
addition to the premium cost. You pay the premium cost to keep your insurance coverage, but when
you use health care services, you must pay your deductible before your health insurance begins to pay.
The average deductible was $2,086 for a single person and just over $4,000 for a family (Fuquay,
2013). The costs seem to be piling up, but there is good news: not all health plans have a deductible.
On average, if you pay a higher premium, there tends to be little or no deductible. And on the other
hand, low premium plans usually have a high deductible. Cost for health insurance coverage can
become very expensive when you calculate premium costs and deductibles together.
PRESCRIPTION COSTS There are usually some types of cost that a person must pay when they need
prescriptions. These costs can change depending on what pharmacy they get the prescriptions filled at.

The Tell Tale Heart Mood
This poem is about the murder of an old man. In The Tell Tale Heart, Edgar Allen Poe uses dark
details, diction, and imagery to convey a haunting mood. The murderer expresses how he killed the
old man and tried to hide his body. The darkness was pierced by a beam of light as the old man was
haunted by the murderer stalking him. In the Tell Tale Heart the author uses dark details to show a
scary and spooky mood. The disease had sharpened my senses not destroyed not dulled them . This
illustrates that he is using negative and dark scary words to show spooky details about the old mans
disease. When I had made an end of these labors, it was four o clock still dark as midnight . This
reveals the this happened very late at night and it gives you a spooky feeling throughout the story. No
doubt I now grew very noel but I talked more fluently and with a heightened voice . This means that
the murderers voice started getting louder and louder to give you a haunting mood. ... Show more

Presently I heard a slight groan of mortal terror . This highlights that he heard of a a frightening groan
and he was filled with a scary instinct. There entered three men, who introduced themselves with
perfect suavity as officers of the police. This exemplifies that the police showed up and it means there
was trouble and this conveys an unsafe mood. Villains , I shrieked, dissemble no more! I admit the
deed! tear up the planks! here here it is the beating of the hideous heart! . This shows that they are
showing a scary expression by using expressive

Wayde V New South Wales Rugby League Case Study
Wayde v New South Wales Rugby League [1985] Critical reflection Reading the Wayde V South
wales rugby league (NSWRL) case, it looks at the board of directors refusing a western suburbs club
from entering the premiership league. The reduction from 14 to 12 leagues was because of
incorporation and the long season and less recovery time between matches for players, and more
leagues was a burden. Less leagues and shorter season was seen by the directors as a better option for
the premiership. While the courts acknowledged that the exclusion was discriminatory towards the
club, it was in the NSWR s constitution (under cl.46 (1)), that the NSWRL had the power to regulate
which clubs would play in the premiership. Thus, the court determined that ... Show more content on

Just a few years ago sport was considered a leisure activity, which Anderson calls the feudal era
(Anderson 2009) where sport was seen as a community activity. Today we see sports become a
legitimate business, with major profits to be made. This is interesting to me as I would imagine just a
few years ago sports and law were not seen as close entities. But as the case above shows that sports
and law are becoming important and a legitimate area of policy and study, which became known as
sports and the law. The case above looks at shareholder oppression, which looks at if the shareholders
are using their powers fairly and not oppressing minority groups. It is fascinating to think that this
concept was only linked to businesses, but now is a legitimate consideration of sports such as rugby.
Contracts and constitutions are a normal part of sports dealings today, and interesting law aspects arise
such as shareholder oppression. Directors can be taken to court if it is seen that they are stopping a
minority group from participating in sport and a chance to be a commodity just like a

  • 2. Math Knot Theory and Celtic Knots l Ve always had an interest in Celtic culture. I love the traditional clothing and dancing, but my favorite part has always been the symbolism and beauty of Celtic Knots. I wondered where the knots originated and how they were created so symmetrically, which led me to the mathematical study of knot theory. So my question now is, How has the knot theory in mathematics influenced and shaped the tradition of Celtic Knots? Knots in the real world are easy to define and see, such as tying a shoelace or a rope, but knots in the mathematical world are a bit different. These knots are joined at the end, making them one continuous line, unable to be pulled apart or untied. They can be described in mathematical terms as a circle that has been embedded in 3 D dimensional Euclidean space but in a bit simpler language, a knot is created by putting a flat circle into 3 D space; therefore making it 3 D. You can not just pull the circle up; that would create a cylinder, and you can not just round it out; this would create a sphere. You must twist it until it intertwines, thus creating a knot. Knots can be described in many different ways. For example; a common method of describing a knot is called a knot diagram, which can be used to describe the many ways a knot can be drawn. • 3. Analysis Of Verses Upon The Burning Of Our House Anne Bradstreet was and is a highly regarded Puritan poet of seventeenth century American literature. She defied cultural expectations of women at the time and became the first accomplished woman poet of the New World. As evident in her poetry, she was strictly loyal to God and her Puritan beliefs, but she was not exempt from grief and doubt in the face of tragedy. Some, however, would argue that her grief and doubt in response to those tragedies showed a stray from her strict Puritan belief system. One controversial tragic event, in particular, that she wrote about exemplified her struggle between earthly desires and heavenly truths: the blaze that overtook her family s home. Anne Bradstreet, in her poem Verses upon the Burning of Our House, demonstrates the common internal conflict of Christians as she battles between her Puritan theology and her innate human emotions in response to her devastating house fire. Anne was born in the early seventeenth century in England. She was privileged with an excellent education because her father, Thomas Dudley, was a steward to a prominent figure. She married Simon Bradstreet at just sixteen years of age while still residing in England. When Anne was still a teenager, the Puritans of the Massachusetts Bay Company made the decision to leave and settle together in the New World, the Dudleys and Bradstreets journeyed with them. Doing Business in Another Country Executive Summary In order to successfully introduce a product into a foreign market it is important to know the culture of the country you plan to do business in. In order to introduce mobile handsets into a market like Venezuela, the supplier must be well acclimated with the purchasing habits, tastes, and willingness to purchase the product that is being sold. Understanding these things starts with building a knowledge base about the major aspects of the culture and your target consumer. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is very intriguing for a society that has a high unemployment rate. Most of Venezuela s population finds itself educated because public education is provided. Even though education is free, there is an astounding 20 % of the population that has received no formal education at all. This is outrageous because Venezuela has a compulsory educational system, which means that people are required to by law to go to attend school for 9 years. This shows that even though education is provided for free there are still families so poverty stricken that they are not able to send their children to school; because they need to work to provide more support for the families. The children that do go through the public education system can attend Universities which are also free. Although the education in Venezuela is provided for free, this is also a reason why the education system is not the greatest. Providing education from grade school through college stretches educational funds thin, which results in each level of education being under funded. It has already been established that the majority of the people of Venezuela are literate. In this society there are jobs that require the certain skills such as a lawyers, judges, politicians, or businessmen etc; but in the society as a whole basic skills are being seen as all that is required for the average person. • 12. Television s Impact On Television One part of television that has always been a constant in a lot of programs is family. More particular, the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around today. Family television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very family oriented. However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has changed drastically with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way families are viewed on screen and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television. One television show that aired from 1951 1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a husband and a wife and their lives together. They were a typical family in the 50s. Lucy stayed at home being a housewife at first while Ricky would go out to work (Smith). The series even showed them sleeping in separate beds at that time because we as the audience weren t allowed to see a couple sleep in the same bed. Later in the series, Lucy became pregnant which wasn t a very common thing to show on television, especially at that time (Garrison). Typical families shown on television in the 1950s were a mother, father, and their children. One show that started to break the mold was My Three Sons which premiered in 1960 and aired until 1972. My Three Sons was about a widowed father raising his three sons on his own with the help of the kids grandfather (Taflinger). In a matter of only ten years the family sitcom had ... I gained a broader perspective when I did this diet and learned how vegetarians got their protein, why vegetarians did their diet, and obtained a common ground to discuss about with vegetarians or vegans. Especially young children are effected by their parents shipping overseas since they are still are trying to figure out how to cope without guidance during their development into adult years. In this particular study, researchers examined adolescents between the ages of 12 18 to determine their thoughts about their parents going into war. More specifically, researchers wanted to study the children s experiences with ambiguous loss within their military families. Researchers hope to find ways in prevention and intervention in order to reduce the feeling of uncertainty within adolescents. Sociologists determined that the ambiguous loss theory provides explanation of the youth s responses from the study. If children are uncertain of their parent s job entitlement then it helps with grieving, but may lead to depression and effecting future relationship with others. Past research has tied red meat to increased risks of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, certain cancers, as well as mad cow disease. Red meat intake also has an increased risk of mortality and detrimental effects on the environment. What is put into the meat when it is processed adds to these risks. There are some benefits to eating red meat such as getting essential vitamins and minerals like B 12 and iron. It also gives people protein and helps make red blood cells. Too much red meat intake negatively affects people s health, causes many problems, and creates increased risks for diseases and certain cancers. There are many risks when people eat high levels of red meat. A study suggests that the link between consumption of red meat and heart disease may stem from gut microbes breaking down carnitine, a compound found in red meat. These microbes help break down food, in the process forming a variety of small compounds. One of these compounds is trimethylamine, which can be metabolized to form trimethylamine N oxide (TMAO). TMAO has been associated with atherosclerosis, a disease in which fat builds up in the arteries. A team led by Dr. Stanley L. Hazen and Robert A. Koeth asked people to consume beef and a carnitine supplement, regular meat eaters produced more TMAO than vegans or vegetarians (Torgan 2013). When participants took antibiotics to suppress gut microbes, they produced less TMAO after eating carnitine (Torgan 2013). This study suggests that gut microbes are involved in the production of TMAO from carnitine putting people more at risk for heart disease and cardiac events like heart attacks, strokes, and death as well as atherosclerosis. These health issues lead to cardiovascular risk and disease. Red meat consumption is associated with increased risk of type 2 diabetes. A study found that three extra servings of red meat every week increases the risk of developing diabetes by 50 percent (qtd. by Scutti, 2013). With increased intake of red meat there is a higher risk for people to get type 2 diabetes. Reducing red meat consumption by 0.5 servings per day had a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Report On Pneumonia Vaccine Pneumonia Vaccine Policies in Kenya Tram Nguyen Arizona State University Pneumonia Vaccine Policies in Kenya Pneumonia is a form of acute respiratory infection which is caused by a bacterium called Streptococcus pneumoniae. Pneumonia is transmitted via air borne droplets from coughing and sneezing, and it may also spread through blood. In 2015, pneumonia killed 15 percent of all deaths in children under the age of five, becoming the leading cause of death in children all over the world (World Health Organization [WHO], 2015a). Many efforts were made to reduce the prevalence of pneumonia, including the free vaccination program in 2011 against pneumonia in Kenya, which is supported by WHO and GAVI Alliance (WHO, 2015b). However, in 2012, Kenya was still ranked among the 15 countries with the highest number of deaths caused by pneumonia, suggesting problems with the current policies (Onyango, Kikuvi, Amukoye, Omolo, 2012). This paper will evaluate these existing policies and discuss potential solutions to overcome the epidemic of pneumonia in Kenya. But what many don t know is between 1558 1603, the Elizabethan Era, the same social class system was already being used. The only difference was that they were more in depth. Although the social class system is still in place today during the Elizabethan era it was used to place people in categories based on their financial state, family history, and beliefs. The social classes of the Elizabethan era were divided into three broad categories and subdivided into smaller specified groups. The broader categories became known as estates ( Elizabethan Era ). There was the first, second and third estate. The first estate consisted of clergy ( Social Order 58). Although they were all Roman Catholic clergy these people were broken up into smaller sections. The smaller sections divided the ordained from the unordained (Social Status and Community ). The Ordained were known as seculars an example of someone who would fall under this division was the pope. The second estate, was of the nobility. As a result, it is believed that the mortality rates due to road accidents reduced from 5,000 in the 80 s to 2, 000 in 2005 (Dean Mooney). However, the issue of binge drinking remains unsolved with learning institutions having to deal with it every semester. In response to this, 134 college presidents formed the Amethyst Initiative, which is, a proposal allowing persons aged between 18 and 20 to consume alcoholic drinks Conversely, the Mothers against Drunk Driving (MADD), which pushed for the enactment of the law in 1984 believes that the Amethyst Initiative is misplaced. The push for a lower drinking age is a battle between the parental community and the student fraternity. For the drinking age too be lowered the Amethyst Initiative must compile concrete research and facts to support its findings. Nonetheless, historical data shows that increase in the minimum legal drinking age results in a decrease in the amount of deaths. As argued by Barry, Stellefson and Woosley, the MLDA clearly reduces alcohol consumption and its associated harms (8). In light of this, one can argue that the minimum drinking age should remain at 21 as lowering it may cause fatal consequences. The factors can be broadly classified as internal, such as ... Introduction: Occlusion has been described as the most important subject in all the disciplines of dentistry, since it represents the way the teeth come together, and functions together. In restorative cases, where the patient is completely or partially edentulous, an articulator is needed, which is a mechanical device the holds the opposing casts, in order to be able to study the occlusion as in the patients mouth. This device; articulator, has different objectives and types, that will be discussed in the coming pages. Definition: An articulator is a mechanical instrument that represents the temporomandibular joints and jaws. The attachment between the TMJ and jaws with the maxillary and mandibular casts simulate some or all of the mandibular movements, which takes place around the TMJ which is capable of undergoing complex movements. An articulator is considered as any instrument which has a movable joint on which the maxillary and mandibular casts can be mounted. These mandibular movements can be rotation around the hinge axis, rotation around the antero posterior axis, rotation around the vertical axis, and translation. Numerous articulators are available for the restoration of occlusion. Objectives: Holding the casts in the same relative position that takes place in the mouth Allow motion similar to that TMJ s motion Duplicate the dental border movements Diagnose dental occlusal conditions, in both, natural and artificial dentitions. ... Students are to discuss and debrief and record their experiences. In the final stage, students need to organize a press conference. De Carlo believes these simulations help students identify their emotions and the emotions of others, and use them as a foundation to understanding negotiation. In teaching through a paradox, de Carlo explains that we must rethink of the classroom as a transitional space described as a place of creation and analysis. This space is intended to develop coping skills in students who find negotiating frustrated. Now we have other unconventional resources such as wind, solar, geothermal, water, and so on. Energy demand is set to double by 2050 (Beckman, 2013). Therefore, greenhouse gases could double by 2050 as well. Hence, renewable energy is vital. Wayde V New South Wales Rugby League Case Study Wayde v New South Wales Rugby League [1985] Critical reflection Reading the Wayde V South wales rugby league (NSWRL) case, it looks at the board of directors refusing a western suburbs club from entering the premiership league. The reduction from 14 to 12 leagues was because of incorporation and the long season and less recovery time between matches for players, and more leagues was a burden.
