Technology Essay
Technology
In the following paper I am going to attempt to discuss the hindering effects of technology. How
technology affects the laziness of our children, desensitizes our otherwise compassionate human
race, and may eventually lead us to our doom. Also in this paper I will attempt to discuss some
benefits of modern technology as relating to family and communal prosperity. Since the invention of
Eli Whitneys cotton gin back in the 1800s men have had their brains full steam ahead on the idea of
technology and its advancement into our everyday lives. Leading us up to the present day where
we can have a hot cooked neucro meal at the push of the button. Our music no longer has to be
cranked by hand, in fact our latest CD players can hold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both were intended for better communication among our society. For example, President
Roosevelt used to have fire side chats on the radio during the trying times of World War II. TV
was a great advancement as far as putting the voices of power, such as the president, with their
faces. TVs were also used to bring the family together for a late night show. In todays world all
that seems to be on the popular radio stations is slang and a lot of bleeping. As for TV, I cant
seem to get that footage of the World Trade Towers going down. Over and over again they show
those clips, not thinking of the thousands of souls floating away at that very same moment.
Children see this stuff and think nothing about the chaos. Even their cartoon characters have
huge bombs, and kill each other. Now I don t know about you but I never saw Mickey kicking
Donald s ass all over the TV when I was growing up. These kinds of shows have led to hours of
programmable crap we feed to our children each day.
Still the communication benefits are there, but the desensitizing danger and loss of compassion
in our children is a real threat. Recently weve developed a new technology, quite a nifty gadget if
you ask me. This one is called the computer and started off as one hell of a calculator, designed
for speedy math. So computers made math go a bit easier, what else could this little box do? Now
that they are in

How To Write Hardball Essay
Hardball was published in 1988, then again revised in 1999, was written by Chris Matthews.
Having over 17 years of political experience has made him exceptional in the world of politics. He
had spent time in Washington aside Senator Frank Moss. Frank Moss was a presidential speech
writer for his time in politics. Also known as Tip O Neil s spokesman. Hardball by Chris Matthews
gives a different, yet interesting perspective from the inside out in the world of politics.
Hardball by Chris Matthews has a subliminal message through the book itself. The title of the
book related to the complexity and strategy it takes to be in politics here in the United States.
His perspective is not only on just playing along in politics, but in the use of it in hard and or
misleading ways. His ability to enlighten the reader on these tactics used for our congress is used
to show the reader a different viewpoint on our government. Showing also that everything in
politics is not all black and white. The tactics he explains through the book outline some tactics
people use through everyday life in society. As in to focus on goals, keep friends close and enemy
s closer and etc. These lesson Chris Matthews explain through the book are elaborated to show
how politics is more of a game of wits. Showing that politics is different than what the public
perceive it to be through the media. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Reagan had appointed the Chief of Staff as James Baker. James Baker was against Reagan and
even teamed up with Gerald Ford and George Bush at one moment. Matthews point for Reagan s
decisions on appointed Baker was to keep your enemies in front of you. Truly focusing on the
enamine would have him as close to your personal as close as possible. The concept Chris
Matthews puts out in that chapter really puts into perspective on how politics foundation is built on

Reasons For the Annexation of Texas Essay
Reasons For the Annexation of Texas
The Annexation of Texas was one of the most debatable events in American history. The question
at hand would deeply impact the United States for generations to come. There was on one side a
long list of reasons for why to not allow annexation, but there was the same kind of list on the other
side for reasons to push forward for annexation. Some of these reasons of both sides were slaves,
war, manifest destiny, politics , and constitutional rights. Also the way Texas began in a way said
that they should be apart of the United States In the end there were more important reasons for
annex Texas into the union, than to leave Texas the was she was.
From the early days of pioneers and settlers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was said that six hundred thousand signatures were presented against annexation in a single
session. One of the major voices against annexations was ex president, John Quincy Adams. He
was at that time a member of the House of Representatives. Near the close of the session for that
year, Adams made a three weeks address in opposition to annexation. He is quoted in his diary for
saying The annexation of Texas to the Union is the First maritime, colonizing, slave tainted
monarchy, and of extinguishment of freedom (Wharton).
For fear of the northerns and abolitionists, neither Jackson or Van Buren dared to push hard for
annexation. Though the reasons for ending slavery were not their prime concern. If Texas was
admitted into the union the new slave state would wreck the hard won balance of slave and free
states in the Senate. Thus giving the south an advantage over the north. The abolitionists believed
that this would eventually lead to the south pushing for laws inferior of their ways of life, being
new slave laws, and disunion in the country.(Haley) Once Texas is annexed its territory could
become as many as 11 new slave states with 22 new pro slavery senators. This would be a political
nightmare for the north s anti slavery politations. Though they could not fully see the end result at
that time, the annexation of Texas was another stronger push of the ball of dis unification.

Summer Vacation Essay
It was June 2nd, school was out, it s now summer vacation. Genesis parents, Gregory and Raina,
were taking a month off of work to spend it in New York. They had forgotten Genesis and her
siblings, Nikki and Marquise were going to be out of school at this time. So they had announced
to them that they were going to New York with them. Marquise, Genesis, Nikki, come down here
and hear the good news Gregory muttered. Your mother and I have decided that you ll be attending
New York with us for part of your summer vacation.
Marquise, Genesis, and Nikki all screamed with excitement. They all had to pack right away,
because they were going to be leaving the next morning. They had packed and went to sleep. The
next morning around 7:00 a.m they were heading out the door to catch a flight for 9:00. When
they arrived at the airport it was full of hundreds of people leaving off for summer vacation. It took
them forever to board onto the plane, because of the long wait. When taking flight, leaving
California, the whole plane shouted in excitement. It was a successful take off, until.Until the plane
started shaking, they were flying straight through a storm. Thump thump thump As the the rain
pounded on the plane. The clouds were as black as the sky without a moon or any lights.

The Environment Protection Agency s New Clean Power Plan
Introduction
Consol Energy is heavily involved in two major industries: coal and natural gas. This is an
interesting situation given that the two industries directly compete against one another. As a result,
Consol is diversified and strategically projected against the risk of downturn in either profit stream.
Coal Industry
The coal industry has a gloomy economic forecast going forward. The U.S. Environment
Protection Agency s new Clean Power Plan (a part of the Clean Air Act) causes much
uncertainty for corporations like Consol. It was proposed by the EPA in June of 2014. The goal of
the Clean Power Plan is to decrease CO2 emissions by 30 percent in the year 2030 from 2005
levels. Already, it has had an impact on the internal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prices for coal are currently down. This drop has coincided with the drop in oil prices.
Originally, it was expected that these two prices would be tied together, and that the drop would
be quite temporary. However, the longer that coal has been down, the more likely it looks like it
is down for the count so to speak. Many analysts believe that there has been an over production
of coal in the past decade and the market has been saturated as a result. With every passing month
that coal s prices stay low, and the supplies keep growing, it becomes less likely that things will
turn around for the better in a permanent manner. Even with the rest of the world playing catchup
with the transition to zero carbon intensive energy sources, the U.S. coal exports have been
extremely low. China, for instance, has imported less in recent years. At one point, they were
helping to drive our export market. In response to the lower demand, many mining corporations
have begun to optimize their operations. This has been done by focusing on lower mining
production costs, cheaper transportation costs, and favorable exchange rates. The goal is to keep
operations from further declining profit wise as the U.S. Energy Information Administration
expects a 7% decrease in total coal consumption for the year 2015. This decline in coal
consumption will likely cause a decline in coal production, causing a decline in jobs for states such
as Wyoming, West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, and

Summary Of The Gangster We Are All Looking For
Many say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but Le Thi Diem Thuy can paint a picture in
her readers minds with less than twenty. She uses detailed imagery to construct a mosaic of five
stories in The Gangster We Are All Looking For, a novel inspired by her own immigration to
America. She takes on the role of a young girl who narrates the struggles she faces alongside her
mother and father (also known as Ma and Ba ) to adapt to their new environment and move on
from past memories and failures. Through the use of intense imagery and figurative language,
Le evokes vivid images and feelings in her readers to expose her characters dispositions,
experiences, and emotions. Le uses descriptive imagery of objects in order to show the internal
nature of the characters. The narrator holds a butterfly paperweight next to her ear and [hears] a
soft rustling, like wings brushing against a windowpane. The rustling was a whispered song. It
was the butterfly s way of speaking, and [she] thought [she] understood it (Le 25) Le captures the
narrator s young, wild imagination by showing an impossible interaction between the narrator and
the butterfly paperweight. She evokes an image of wings brushing against a windowpane to prompt
readers to imagine the butterfly s swift fluttering in the paperweight. She compares the paperweight
to her Ba s heavy head pressed down on the pillow at night, full of thoughts that dragged him into
nightmares when all he wanted was a dream as sweet

Hillary Clinton Rolemodels
While the sun sets and darkness creeps in, kids huddle around to watch the TV. However, instead
of watching a late night horror movie, they begin to watch a Trump rally. Children are always
known to follow what they see either on television or in their own homes. In Hillary Clinton s
recent campaign advertisement entitled Rolemodels, Clinton attempts to appeal to viewers
emotions by using various designs to demonstrate how a Trump presidency would damage our
children. Hillary Clinton takes on the concept of Children learning how to act by what they watch
on the television, mainly targeting Donald Trumps heinous public behavior and speeches.
The video begins with the sun setting in the back of different houses, later on the image shifts to
children watching television. While images of the kids watching television play, different
statements from Donald Trump s interviews and rallies are heard in the background accompanied
by very slow rhythm piano music. Throughout most of the video a dark scheme of colors
surround the kids, this making it seem as if they were watching some sort of horror movie. Giving
it a dark background seems like an attempt to increase the seriousness of the video by ... Show more

Robert Ferris Thompson also uses figure 1, Mbumba Mbondo to further elaborate the content
and significance that this artifact represented. For instance, in accordance to this artifact the
Kongo viewed this object as a sacred and powerful charm. In Thompson s article the term s
etymology of mbumba is another term for Nkisi, however, mbumba is of higher class, referring
to a higher connection to the dead of Kongo. It also explains that the word mbumba is a
reference to a jar or basket. This jar as analyzed was decorated with materials as mentioned
before and had also great significance such as white buttons symbolizing mystery and the bird
feathers symbolizing power that flies that was meant and believed to be the connection to
heaven. Furthermore, Figure 2 a more recent Nkisi is more vibrant and luminous or as referred
to the illumination to call upon the Iwa. Now, according to Stephen D. Glazier s article, the term
Iwa or Ioa served in reference to spirits or deities, and this comes way back from African origins.
To explain, in Africa the Kongo community would have the priest sanctify the Iwa to allow
practice of devotion as a fellowship. However, in Haiti the relationship

Leadership Theory And Philosophy Of Leadership Essay
The belief of leadership is constantly changing, with many theories and frameworks available.
Today s organizations face ever increasing change, which includes increased patient demands and
work needs, which requires a more adaptive flexible leadership that is becoming increasingly
important in the 21st century. Leadershiptheory and philosophy can be divided into several well
known styles. Within this paper, we will discuss the basis of autocratic, democratic, laissez faire,
servant, charismatic, transformational, and situational styles of leadership within the nursing
profession, then conclude the writer s personal philosophies of leadership.
To begin, autocratic leadership involves leaders to make decisions without input from their
followers (Frandsen, 2014). This style of leadership also incorporates negative reinforcement.
Maboko (2011) gathered that nurse managers who embodied an autocratic leadership style yield
registered nurses to feel unappreciated, criticized and blamed. On the other hand, a democratic
leadership encourages and facilitates open discussions and participation from its followers.
Followers are given responsibility, accountability and constructive feedback to improve (Frandsen,
2014). McKeown and Carey (2015) stated the lack of democracy and participation is one of many
sources of a decreased morale. The lack of control had a negative connotation on nurses and their
relationships with patients. Additionally, this resulted in fragmented care and poor

Nuclear Weapons Be Abolished
Should nuclear weapons be abolished? How would removing and prohibiting nuclear weapons
change the world? Well, When it comes to abolishing or getting rid of nuclear weapons;
particularly, nuclear bombs or warheads mounted on a long range ballistic missile; There is
plenty of controversy and argument over this topic. The world has had plenty of instances
where if nuclear bombs were not in play, The situation would have been a more peaceful
experience. But speaking in long term effects, How would not having and nukes around truly
change the world? And how would it effect the history of mankind? When it comes to the pros
with ridding the earth of powerful nuclear weaponry, people who prefer them gone believe this
would influence a more peaceful future for humanity, And create a safer world for the
generations to come. This would take years to accomplish and plenty of negotiations with other
nations, But the end result would be a huge step towards world peace. The smaller weaker and
poorer nations around the world would feel less worried about getting picked on by richer and
larger countries. People who believe the banning of nukes would greatly reduce and chances of an
all out nuclear war ravishing the earth with radiation, And ending the lives of millions if not
billions of men, women, and children. A nuclear war could have the potential of creating a
apocalyptic world devastating all nations who live on it to nothing but ashes, and leaving only
pieces of what used to

The Purpose Of Collective Memory In The United States
Political communities, nations and/states, have been formed from shared territory, a constitution,
and perhaps most importantly through a collective memory. Memory is traditionally understood as
a way of maintaining information, typically a personal and individual affair. But collective
memory serves a purpose of connecting the some past experience of a group of individuals to the
present to form a narrative. Identityclaims, when pushed, characteristically seek something else: to
establish the sameness, the continuity, of a person or community across time and in the face of
apparent change (Booth 1999, p.249). Memory can be a dividing or uniting tool, it split
communities into various shared identities, sometimes aligning with state lines

Organisational citizenship behaviour may not generally be straightforwardly and formally

for instance, however organisational citizenship behaviour might be reflected in good chief and
associate evaluations, or better execution examinations. Along these lines it can encourage future
prize pick up in an indirect way (Zhang.2011). Greenleaf (2002 as cited in Spears 2010) observed
the qualities of servant leadership for the successful run of the organisation, the servant leader
should have the characteristics such as listening, awareness, empathy, stewardship, commitment to
the growth of people. Firstly, listening as a quality of a good servant leader means that they
should have good communication skills and decision making skills only than they are able to
have a successful organisation. If a servant leader doesn t have good listening skills or he may not
listen to his workers than it will adversely impact the organisation. The workers will feel
demotivated which will result into bad work behaviour in an organisation. The servant leader
recognises the determination of the clusters and illuminates that determination (Spears,2010).
Secondly, awareness as a feature of servant leadership is when the servant leader in general is

Social Work Child Observation Report
The Negotiation.
Introduction.
This work is aimed at describing the process of negotiating an agreement to carry out a child
observation in a school. It will explain my role as a social work student in the process of negotiating
observation agreement with the school. Some of the issues considered in my negotiation were
confidentiality, ethical issues and values, consent, communication, legal issues, professionalism,
skill, voluntary participation of participant, contingency plan and limitations. The name of the child
observed in this work will not be included for data protection and confidentiality reason. This is

They argued that the use of written agreement set out task, boundaries, limitations and any future
work. In addition, Person and Thomas (2010) argues that agreements promote trust, empathy, show
limitation, set out clear boundaries and promotes mutual responsibilities. Similarly, Healy (2012)
argues that social worker must be respectful, honest and transparent when working with a family.
The second stage of the negotiation was to take the draft copy of the agreement letter to show my
lecturer at the University for Approval. After the approval the agreement letter. The approved letter
of agreement was now signed by myself, preschool manager and the child s parent. This agreement
shows that the preschool and parent of the child has granted me their consent to observe this child.
The parents and their child were not coerced into participating in this observation to ensure
voluntary participation and the parents and the child were free to change their mind at any stage of
the observation.
Reflection of the process of negotiation.
Social workers need to develop a good observation skill for them to be able to do their work
effectively because communication is one of the key tool which social work use (BASW, 2014,
HCPC, 2016 and Healy, 2012). Therefore, having good observation skills is relevant in social
work. Healy (2012) suggested that communication could be verbal and non verbal methods of
communication. Social worker make use both verbal and non verbal method of

Murray Bowen Differentiation Of Self
The term Differentiation refers to a developmental process when a skill becomes more
sophisticated and broken into subsets. According to Professor Murray Bowen, differentiation of self
is one s ability to separate one s own intellectual and emotional functioning from that of family. He
states, The one most important goal of familysystems therapy is to help family members toward a
better level of differentiation of self. Murray is saying that through family therapy, one can develop
their true self. He continues by saying that families are actually stuck to each other and this
background affects a person/people. Bowan talks about someone with low differentiation and
describes them as being sewn to family emotions. People with low differentiation depend more on
others for acceptance and approval. They either conform to others or attempt to force others to
conform to themselves. These particular people become more vulnerable to the deterioration of
stress. Having a well differentiated self is ideal in life. In family therapy, the triangle method is
often used. He states, There was a different emphasis on the triangle between self and parents,
which is the most important primary triangle in life. The relationship with self and parents
develops a background that could change someone s life. Whenever two people are having issues
with each other, they may triangle in a third participant. Bowen clearly emphasizes this specific
idea. He says that anxiety is

about how different and similar they look from regular leopards, On how their intelligence is
extremely well from other animals/ how protective they are as well, and How their heights,
weight and size are different than the other big cats that they are related to or considered. All in
all the these topics will describe what black leopards really are. The panthers are exactly like the
leopard. why? because they have spots on them that you can t really see so they are similar by
that. They are different looking because according to the World Encyclopedia edition, All
leopards are much alike, but those that live in the forest are darker than those that live on open

From the early days, with little literary reference material, to the current day, with substantially
more, but still insufficient formation, the science of fingerprint identification has managed to

field as an applied science and include it in the curricula, which would provide directed research

Daubert s opinion states that: the Federal Rules of Evidence superseded General Acceptance
tests for admissibility of novel scientific evidence. Prior to the Daubert hearing from 1923 until
1993 the rigid general acceptance test, which arose from Ftye v. United States, 293 f2d. 1013
(D.C. Cir. 1923) is at odds with the liberal thrust of the Federal Rules of Evidence. It is the trial
judge that must still screen scientific evidence to ensure it is relevant and reliable to be used in
the court of law. The focus, of courts, must be solely on principles and methodology, not on the
conclusions they generate. The court should consider factors but by no means exclusive criteria in

I implemented this into my app in order to make the UI more organised like this: After this, I
needed to find a method of displaying an image as I needed to display a campus map image for
task 2. I found a YouTube video3 showing this. The steps taken were to upload an image file
using the upload file button, place a canvas and re arrange the size, then change the background
image to the uploaded photo in the properties tab. My end product looked like this: In order to
complete task 2 I would need to find a suitable method for interacting with the image, resulting in
specific behaviour when an area of the image is pressed. This would have been needed as the
specification for the app would be the user touching the building desired, then the computers
available would be displayed. My first place to look for a solution was by browsing the
appinventor documentation4 . In the documentation I found the description of a ball , described
as A round sprite that can be placed on a Canvas, where it can react to touches and drags interact
with other sprites . This suited my requirements and so I had to find out how to use this sprite.
By simply searching in the designer I found the location of the ball sprite, however I could not
place it. After re reading the MIT documentation I discovered it had to be placed over an image
sprite, and so I placed an image sprite and then after a ball, and it placed. Once

Socs. Even though The Greasers are known as poor people, and trouble makers, and Socs as
rich prep boys. The book shows each Greaser as a nice person, and the Socs they mention as
bullies. The book The Outsiders describes the Greasers houses as run down, but most of the
Greasers work or go to school. It also describes Ponyboy, and Darry as smart boys that went to
school, and have dreams of being successful. The book describes the Socs as rich boys, with
parents that have good jobs with lots of money, and they live in big houses and drive good cars.
Being rich or poor does not determine personal altitude in life because Ponyboy was smart and...

Maybe the two different worlds we live in weren t so different. We saw the same sunset (Hinton
41). This means that both Socs, and Greasers both have problems, and the same interests. Even
though they come from different neighborhoods, they still breath the same air, went to the same
school, have the same interests such as going to the movies, and have the same types of problems.
In the book The Outsiders, Ponyboy talks about how the rich Socs girls acted, and how the poor
Greaser girls acted. When Ponyboy first met Cherry, and Marcia he said it was nice to hangout,
and talk to the soc girls. He said they were nothing like the greaser girls, and he didn t like
greaser girls. Ponyboy said I quit worrying about everything, and thought about how nice it was
to sit with a girl without having to listen to her swear or to beat her off with a club. (Hinton 35).
Ponyboy was talking about Cherry a rich Soc girl being different then the poor Greaser girls. He
feels like they are easier to talk to and easier to have a conversation with. He likes that they don t
swear, and are smart. He talks about how the poor Greaser girls swear, are disrespectful, are
always fighting, and are always troublemakers by flirting with other guys. Another example of the
rich (Socs) vs poor (Greasers) is there education. In the book The Outsiders, it talks about how the
Greasers (the poor) don t speak right. It also talks about how the Greasers, and Socs went to the
same school.

Dystopian Literature Create Illusions
There is a quote that says, Be careful what you wish for because you might get it all and then
something you don t want . Dystopian Literature is a great example of this scenario because it
shows how perfect can sometimes be an illusion. I think Dystopian Literature should be used in
storytelling to give the reader an idea of what places are really like instead of thinking that they are
perfect, straight and narrow.
A dystopia is a futuristic and imagined universe in which oppressive societal control and the
illusion of a perfect society are maintained through corporate, bureaucratic, technological, moral, or
totalitarian control. There is a benefit or need for Dystopian Literature because it shows how real
life societies can create illusions

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Survey
Disadvantages of using Surveys The significance of the data can become neglected if the
researcher focuses too much on the range of coverage to the exclusion of an adequate account of
the implications of those data for relevant issues, problems, or theories. The data that are
produced are likely to lack details or depth on the topic being investigated. Securing a high
response rate to a survey can be hard to control, particularly when it is carried out by post, but is
also difficult when the survey is carried out face to face or over the telephone. 4.1.4
Administrations of Surveys The final survey instrument was distributed to each of the employees

Advantages of Questionnaire A questionnaire is less expensive; it saves time and financial

The Notebook By Nicholas Sparks Essay
A romantic drama film is a genre that explores the difficult aspects that come with love. The plot
usually includes two people that are in love that can t be together the way they want to be due to
obstacles. The obstacles in a romantic drama film can include a family s disapproval, to forbidden
love, to one s own psychological restrictions. The Notebook is a movie based on a best selling
novel that was written by author Nicholas Sparks. This is a love story that is composed of a
series of obstacles between two young people that are madly in love with each other. It perfectly
fits and displays the criteria for a successful romantic drama film because it includes the complexity
of love, and elicits emotions.
In The Notebook there are countless obstacles between the two main characters that are in love.
This allows the movie to fit into the drama aspect of the genre, displaying the complexity of their
love. Complex love includes the drama, and difficulties of a relationship, while still being closely
connected to the romantic parts of a relationship. This is prevalent in The Notebook. Allie and
Noah, played by well known actors Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling, were two people from
different social classes. Allie was from a wealthy, privileged upper class family while Noah was
making around 40 cents an hour at a lumber yard job. While love is not confined to the amount of
money that each person has, in the 1940 s, which is the setting of the movie, social class played an

Analysis Of Erasmus s Praise Of Folly
In Erasmus s Praise of Folly, Erasmus discusses how Folly is indebted into her wisdom. Folly,
the daughter of Plutus and Youth, wants to inform all of the great gods that she can bring joy to
everyone. She wanted to build an empire of her own, since there was not one built for her. Many
of the gods during that time had the perception that many women did not know what they were
talking about, and were seen as simple minded. However, Folly has the idea that people will not
be able to create or form any relationship without her power. Since Folly believes that no one
takes her serious, or any of her propositions, she wants to show everyone that life would not be
the same without her. In a sense, Folly is giving herself credit so that everyone can value her
even more. As she is talking about herself, she is giving everyone else the opportunity to see
what kind of person she really is. Erasmus states that I am the one and indeed, the only one
whose divine powers can gladden the hearts of gods and men (9). This quote explains the idea of
Folly proving to everyone that life would not be the same without her. Words such divine powers
and gladden can depict the idea that Folly is going to do whatever it takes to her point across to
the gods and everyone else. As Erasmus explains that Folly is the cause of life for everyone, he
also describes how she is the cause of human interactions. Humans bond so that they can form a
connection with one another. Folly further explains

Similarities Between Martin Luther And Star Wood
Martin Luther, essentially a nobody with credentials, grew to become one of the most influential
persons in the 16th century. Though his message was fought off by the Catholic church, with the
help of the printing press and his followers, Luther s message was able to spread throughout
Europe. Similarly, taking a look at the message of may your brief candle shine brightly from
Once Upon a Timepiece by Starr Wood, both messages of history traveled through time due to the
unforeseen circumstances one calls history. By examining the choices each individual made, it is
clear to see how greed and circumstance play a deep role in both Andrew Pettegree s Brand Luther
and Starr Wood s Once Upon a Timepiece.
Brand Luther, the detailed story of how Martin Luther, a former monk, became the backbone of a
religious reformation starts off in Wittenberg: the home of maybe two thousand at the time of
Luther s arrival. Wittenberg would become known as the starting place of the reformation, but
prior to Luther s writings was a poor, unattractive town, with old, small, ugly wooden houses,
more like a village than a town (Pettegree 7). Yet ironically, with the help of Martin, Wittenberg
would thrive economically due to the printing press s success in sending and selling his every last
written word all over Europe. Though the printing press was only first established in Wittenberg in
1502, Wittenberg would become the printing capitol of the world by 1543 (Pettegree 11).

Jessica Kuang 11CH3
Question 1: (4 marks)
Construct a timeline to summarise the development of the Periodic Table and the major
contributions made by notable scientists (up to G Seaborg) Question 2: (8 marks)
(a)The elements lithium, sodium and potassium formed one of the original triads used to show that
elements could be grouped . What scientific evidence did scientists have to justify this grouping of
elements?
Johann Dobereiner, a German chemist, suggested the grouping of elements with similar properties
into clusters of three triads. He discovered that when arranged in ascending atomic mass, in the case
of lithium, sodium and potassium, sodium s atomic mass was approximately the arithmetic mean
of lithium and potassium. There was also a correlation between the atomic numbers, (Li 3, Sodium
11, Potassium 19) which showed the mean of the lowest and highest atomic numbers equalled the
atomic number of the middle element.
(b)Identify two other triads which were identified during the early construction of the Periodic
Table.
The other two triads are sulfur, selenium and tellurium and chlorine, bromine and iodine.
(c)In 1864, John Newlands observed that the properties of the known elements varied periodically
with their atomic masses. He saw a pattern which reminded him of the musical scale and published
his findings as the law of octaves

Cowboys and Aliens (2011) directed by Jon Favreau, takes place in a Western style setting in New
Mexico territory. Jake Lonergan (Daniel Craig) wakes up in the middle of the desert severely
injured with no recollection as to why he is in pain. At this point he notices the scientific and

return the gold, and immediately after she says this, aliens abduct both of them. After these
events, the aliens abduct multiple people from the town leading Lonergan to join up with
Colonel Woodrow (Harrison Ford), Ella Swenson (Olivia Wilde), Doc (Sam Rockwell), Nat
Colorado (Adam Beache), and many more loyal followers. Together, these characters seek to take

Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to
everything. (Plato, 428 348 BC )
Music is inseparable part of our everyday life; we can face it in every corner of our town, on TV
commercial, films, radio etc. Music can be understood everywhere, even if you cannot speak the
language of other countries, but you move, dance, sing and enjoy the music while listening to it.
We may not understand the words of a musical selection but we do understand the beauty of songs.

So, the second question of the chart would be: How does music affect consumer behavior? It is
a simple fact that most music of today is composed, distributed, sold and bought, performed and
listened to for some commercial purposes. One of the main purposes is selling. Nowadays the
main concept of this modern world is to make more money, as everybody knows; customers are
the main source of the companies income, whether you make products, goods or service.
Moreover, managers and marketers try to attract more consumers by using different tricks. One of
them is to influence customers behavior by music and sounds. First of all, on an average day, the
average person watches an hour and a half of the commercial television stations, of which fifteen
minutes will be made up solely of advertisements. Approximately half of all advertisements will
have music (Fellows, 1998, para.1). Good music can contribute to the effectiveness of an
advertisement by making it more attractive. A good music engages the attention of an audience,
evoke emotions and sometimes make audience to dance and sing. Music plays an important role in
marketing business, by appealing customers through their emotions, as it was mentioned before. In
this case, music should send messages about products brand name, shape, and even taste etc. For
example, according to Michael Morrison (2009),

Gotch used a crippling ankle lock (the same that The Worlds Most Dangerous Man Ken

Gotch had oiled his body before the match. Before the rematch, Gotch paid a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pcr
Polymerase Chain Reaction
The enzymatic or the molecular xeroxing process in which a particular region of DNA is replicated
several times to yield thousands of copies of a specific sequence is termed as Polymerase chain
reaction (PCR). The process of PCR employs a sophisticated and precise pattern of heating and
cooling of samples in a thermal cycler, over 30 cycles.
Each cycle generates a copy of the target DNA sequence for each molecule incorporating the target
sequence. Oligonucleotide primers define the boundaries of the amplified product which are
complementary to the 3 ends of the target sequence.
Since its invention in 1983 by Kary Mullis; PCR has radically changed our approach to molecular
biology. It brought forward a new perspective in the field of medical sciences and genetics. ... Show

It is a simple technique to understand and use, and it produces results rapidly (Vogel et al., 2012).
It is highly sensitive, with the potential to produce millions to billions of copies of a specific
product for sequencing, cloning, and analysis. This is true of qPCR as well, but qPCR has the
advantage of quantification of the synthesized product. Thus, it can be used to analyze alterations
of gene expression levels in tumors, microbes, or other disease states.
However, PCR also has limitations. Because it is highly sensitive, any form of contamination of
the sample by even trace amounts of DNA can produce misleading results (Vogel et al., 2012;
Smith and Osborn, 2009). In addition, to design primers for PCR, some prior sequence data are
needed.
Therefore, PCR can be used only to identify the presence or absence of a known pathogen or gene.
Another limitation is that the primers used for PCR can anneal nonspecifically to sequences that
are similar, but not completely identical, to target DNA. Moreover, incorrect nucleotides can be
incorporated into the PCR sequence by the DNA polymerase, albeit at a very low

Michael Hamburger uses painting of Breughel s Icarus as a background for his poem, Lines on
Brueghel s Icarus . To fully understand the purpose of this poem, the painting by Brueghel and myth
of Icarus should be studied beforehand. By describing the visuals in the beginning, using specific

In the first stanza, the stage is set with the types of people who were in close proximity of the
fallen Icarus: the ploughman, fisherman, and the sailor. However, none succeeded in recognizing
the rise and descent of Icarus as they were absorbed in their own tasks, immersed in their own
thoughts. The ploughman ploughs, the fisherman dreams of fish;/ Aloft, the sailor . Hearing the
wings of the hero, the shepherd was the sole being that took note of the strange phenomenon above
him. Yet, uncertain to whom the wings belonged to, he labeled them as a pair of eagle wings. To

Mario Milkuliencer s Trouble With Trust
Trust can be a controversial topic for many, however the natural positive vibe that humans receive
from the word tends to override any reservations of it. According to the online Merriam Webster
Dictionary, trust requires assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or
something. In today s society trustis slowly starting to disintegrate with the lack of face to face
communication within the age of electronic communication. Because of this we have the inability
to trust others as it starts to develop into trust issues, especially among the younger generation from
the lack of physical connection among individuals. The first foundation that comes with developing
trust is reliability. Possessing reliability in someone or something is important to begin a
relationship. According, to Mario Milkuliencer in the online article Trouble With Trust by
Psychology Today there are three basic foundations. The first one is to have the assumption that if

One day, some men were standing near the Sacramento River. George told Lennie to jump in
and he did, even though Lennie didn t know how to swim. George and the men were able to pull
him out before he drowned and Lennie was grateful to George for helping him. This experience
made George realize that it was wrong for him to play jokes on Lennie. On pages 63 to 65,
Lennie struggles internally over his own unrealized strength. After Lennie crushed Curley s
hand, Lennie sat cowering in the corner. He s scared that he did something wrong but he never
meant to hurt Curley. He only fought back because George told him to. George and Slim
assured George that it wasn t his fault and that he didn t do a bad thing. On pages 44 to 48,
Candy undergoes a personal struggle. When Carlson tells him that his dog is old and suffering
and should be put down, Candy does not want to give up his dog. After Slim agreed that Candy s
dog should be put down on page 45, Candy looked helplessly at him, for Slim s opinions were
law. After being defeated by Carlson s reasonable argument, Candy finally forces himself to give
up his dog, knowing that he won t have to suffer any more. Man vs. society is a type of conflict

Operation Twist, a plan to buy long term U.S. debt and sell short term debt, which will result in
a flattening of the yield curve and a drop in long term debt yields, is a part of the expected future
according to the Fed. This means that the historical lows in interest rates that we are seeing will
continue in the short run. In the long run however, there looks to be a divergence from that short
run trend. Consumers and businesses in the long run will get away from the de leveraging
process that we are seeing in the recent past and currently and begin to build up cash that will
circulate more unreservedly. This will cause the Fed to set interest rates at higher levels in order
to combat against the rise in inflation in the post deleveraging period. Housing Post housing

High School Football Accomplishment
An accomplishment I am proud of relates to my first year in high school football. The school I
went to I started off not knowing nobody besides a few people. My first day of practice I was
not this big guy or had this football player image that everyone imagined, so everyone looked
over me as just another bench player. Walking into our first meeting I saw a guy standing there
and he looked like a senior with arms as big as thors. The first thought that came to my mind was
looks like im not starting this year. As practices went on both players and coaches saw my talent
and knew I had something to give to the team so the head coach made me a head captain, which

Land Use Development Patterns And The International...
INTRODUCTION
1.0 BACKGROUND TO STUDY
Land use development patterns (also called urban form, built environment, community design,
spatial development, and urban geography) is referred to as the human use of the earth s surface,
including the location, type and design of infrastructure such as roads and buildings. Land use
patterns can have diverse economic, social and environmental impacts and some are more
accessible and so reduce transportation costs to businesses and consumers.
Transportation on the other hand is the movement of people, information and goods from one
location to another. The specific purpose of transportation is to fulfill a demand for mobility, since
transportation can only exists if it moves people, freight and information around. Otherwise it has
no purpose. Since the 18th century till now, urbanization, multinational corporations, the
globalization of trade and the international division of labor are all forces shaping and taking
advantage of transportation at different, but often related, scales. Consequently, the fundamental
purpose of transport is geographic in nature, because it facilitates movements between different
locations. Transport thus plays a role in the structure and organization of space and territories,
which may vary according to the level of development.

Octavia Butler s Parable Of The Sower
Parable of the Sower, by Octavia Butler, is the story of a girl, Lauren, forming a new sort of
religion in a post apocalyptic world. As she travels through the remnants of a lost world, she
begins to formulate her own belief system and calls it Earthseed. In short, Earthseed is described as
a combination of Buddhism, existentialism, Sufism in addition to other worldly beliefs (261). All in
all, Lauren hopes to create a new, sustainable religious community, and in turn, one day, a better
human society. Despite being raised in a rather religious community and family, with a preacher for
a father, Lauren finds faults with the Godshe has been taught to worship. She learns to shape her
own ideas and beliefs about religionand God to adapt to the dystopian world she has been brought
up in. This brings us to the question of: what is god? The simple answer to this question,
according to Lauren is that God is Change . The first chapter entry of the novel explains the
fundamentals of Earthseed, she writes: All that you touch you Change. All that you Change
Changes you. The only lasting truth is change. God is Change. (3). This seems rather logical,
especially in the context of a distorted and dangerous world. Lauren does not see God as a divine
being, but as an idea or concept; there is no one face of God as God is all around us in the shape of
change. How could God be a divine being worthy or worship if he could allow the total destruction
of functional society and outbreak

Culprits Causing Positive Teeth Essay
Culprits Causing Sensitive Teeth
Do you experience a tingling sensation whenever you eat ice cream? Or do you feel pain
whenever you take a sip of hot coffee? Then you may have sensitive teeth. Tooth sensitivity is one
of the most usual problems among dental patients. People suffering from this condition are mostly
adults, although it can also affect people in their adolescence and when they are over 50 years old.
Symptoms of sensitive teeth can be a mild sharp pain to severe discomfort that can continue for
hours. It can also be an indication of a more serious dental problem. However, it can be treated.
Identifying the cause of the illness can help you fight off the pain. Here are some of them:

When the dentine loses its protective coat, it allows heat and cold or acidic substances to stimulate
the nerves and cells inside the teeth causing hypersensitivity and discomfort.
Teeth grinding
Grinding and clenching your teeth too often can cause the enamel to wear down which then
exposes the dentine. It also fractures your teeth causing pain.
Too much mouthwash
Mouthwash helps manage bacteria inside the mouth, but too much can also cause negative effects.
Like some whitening toothpastes, some mouthwashes contain chemicals that can make your teeth
more sensitive.
Cracked tooth
A chipped or broken tooth can cause the nerves in your teeth to irritate, causing discomfort when
you chew your food.
Gum Diseases
Periodontal diseases, if left untreated, can create holes in your teeth where bacteria lives and
destroys the tissues and bones leaving the root of the teeth exposed.
Dental Procedures
If you have undergone a tooth cleaning or extraction, then it is likely the reason why you are
having sensitive teeth. If symptoms persist, go to your dentist and have it checked, for it may be an
inflammation or an infection.
Don t fret too much because teeth sensitivity can be treated. Here are some of your

Teenage Suicide
Teenage Suicide
Suicide is intentional self inflicted acts that end in death( Suicide,
Compton s). After a series of traumatic events, normal coping abilities can be pushed over the
edge; the result may be suicide. In each year, an average of
30,000 suicide deaths occur in the United States. It is estimated that 5,000 of those suicides are
committed by teenagers(SAVE, 2). One major reason that the suicide rate among teenagers is so
high, is that the teenage years are a period of commotion. New social roles are being learned, new
relationships are being developed, bodily changes are occurring, and decisions about the future are
being made during the teenage years. Teenagers tend to commit suicide after large changes,... Show

The statistics of considered and completed suicide are shocking.
Ten percent of teenage boys admit that they have attempted suicide. Girls in their teens have a
much higher percentage(eighteen percent), which will admit that they unsuccessfully tried to
commit suicide. A teenager in 1990 was twice as likely to die from suicide than a teenager
growing up in 1960. One of the most startling teenage suicide facts is that since 1961, there has
been a tripling of completed teenage suicide( The Real World [Suicide: Facts], 1 3). When a
teenager is able to successfully commit suicide, they leave behind family and friends. In a
normal death situation, people usually feel grief. When a teenager performs suicide, family and
friends left behind experience many feelings. A feeling of confusion and great distress over
unresolved issues is very common. Family members and friends often feel anger and resentment
after a suicide. These emotions can cause friends and family to become very isolated feeling. A
friend or family member may find that it is difficult to relate to other people after a suicide. These
people may decide that other people view them as a failure because they were unable to stop
someone close to them from committing suicide. A fear of forming new relationships after a person
has completed suicide is common. People feel that by creating new relationships, they might be hurt
and experience the same pain they are going through. In order to

Specificity, Progression And Overload Principle
The use of the Specificity, Progression and Overload principle, as well as the F.I.T.T. principle,
is very important when training. To implement the Specificity principle during my days in the
cardio room, I defined my goals before starting my workouts. It is important to define one s goals
so that one is sure to work towards and meet the given goals. My cardio goal was high intensity
and my strength goal was toning. In order to work towards these goals, I constructed workouts that
would help tone muscles and encourage high intensity cardio performance. To achieve high
intensity cardio exercises, I aimed to and succeeded in to keeping my heart rate above 150.

principle stands for Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type. Frequency refers to how often a
person participates in a given activity. While the cardio schedule allowed us to workout every
other school day, weekends interfered with this schedule. Overall, the frequency of this workout
was based on a two day cycle. Also, I increased the frequency by increasing the numbers of sets I
completed for each workout every other week. By adding more sets, I participated in the activity
during a greater length of time and therefore increased the frequency. Intensity refers to the weight
or incline of a workout, how hard one has to work during a given exercise. To make use of the
Intensity principle, I increased the weight of each strength training activity during every other
day. In terms of the cardio training exercises, between the first and second day as well as the
third and fourth day, I focused on increasing my heart rate. Between the second and third day and
fourth and fifth day, I increased the intensity of the exercises by running a further distance than I
had the day before. The first T in F.I.T.T. stands for Time. To increase the time of my strength
training exercises, I increased the number of sets I completed between day one and two and day
three and four. With a greater number of sets, a longer amount of time was spent on the given
exercise. Also, during each day in the cardio room I learned how to better manage my time and use
it to the best of my ability,

Joy Luck Club Mother-Daughter Relationship Essay
East West Values and the Mother daughter Relationship in The Joy Luck Club
The dominant theme of The Joy Luck Club is the clash between Chinese, American cultures, and
how it affects the relationship between mothers and daughters. All of the mothers in the book were
born and raised in China. All of their daughters were born and raised in the United States. Because
of the differences in family traditions and values between the way the mothers had been raised in
China and the way their daughters were growing up in America, there was bound to be a clash
between the two generations. Perhaps the most dramatic example of how East West conflicting
traditions and values affected a mother daughter relationship was that of Suyuan Woo and... Show

  • 2. Technology Essay Technology In the following paper I am going to attempt to discuss the hindering effects of technology. How technology affects the laziness of our children, desensitizes our otherwise compassionate human race, and may eventually lead us to our doom. Also in this paper I will attempt to discuss some benefits of modern technology as relating to family and communal prosperity. Since the invention of Eli Whitneys cotton gin back in the 1800s men have had their brains full steam ahead on the idea of technology and its advancement into our everyday lives. Leading us up to the present day where we can have a hot cooked neucro meal at the push of the button. Our music no longer has to be cranked by hand, in fact our latest CD players can hold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both were intended for better communication among our society. For example, President Roosevelt used to have fire side chats on the radio during the trying times of World War II. TV was a great advancement as far as putting the voices of power, such as the president, with their faces. TVs were also used to bring the family together for a late night show. In todays world all that seems to be on the popular radio stations is slang and a lot of bleeping. As for TV, I cant seem to get that footage of the World Trade Towers going down. Over and over again they show those clips, not thinking of the thousands of souls floating away at that very same moment. Children see this stuff and think nothing about the chaos. Even their cartoon characters have huge bombs, and kill each other. Now I don t know about you but I never saw Mickey kicking Donald s ass all over the TV when I was growing up. These kinds of shows have led to hours of programmable crap we feed to our children each day. Still the communication benefits are there, but the desensitizing danger and loss of compassion in our children is a real threat. Recently weve developed a new technology, quite a nifty gadget if you ask me. This one is called the computer and started off as one hell of a calculator, designed for speedy math. So computers made math go a bit easier, what else could this little box do? Now that they are in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Reasons For the Annexation of Texas Essay Reasons For the Annexation of Texas The Annexation of Texas was one of the most debatable events in American history. The question at hand would deeply impact the United States for generations to come. There was on one side a long list of reasons for why to not allow annexation, but there was the same kind of list on the other side for reasons to push forward for annexation. Some of these reasons of both sides were slaves, war, manifest destiny, politics , and constitutional rights. Also the way Texas began in a way said that they should be apart of the United States In the end there were more important reasons for annex Texas into the union, than to leave Texas the was she was. One of the major voices against annexations was ex president, John Quincy Adams. He was at that time a member of the House of Representatives. Near the close of the session for that year, Adams made a three weeks address in opposition to annexation. He is quoted in his diary for saying The annexation of Texas to the Union is the First maritime, colonizing, slave tainted monarchy, and of extinguishment of freedom (Wharton). For fear of the northerns and abolitionists, neither Jackson or Van Buren dared to push hard for annexation. Though the reasons for ending slavery were not their prime concern. If Texas was admitted into the union the new slave state would wreck the hard won balance of slave and free states in the Senate. Thus giving the south an advantage over the north. The abolitionists believed that this would eventually lead to the south pushing for laws inferior of their ways of life, being new slave laws, and disunion in the country.(Haley) Once Texas is annexed its territory could become as many as 11 new slave states with 22 new pro slavery senators. This would be a political nightmare for the north s anti slavery politations. Though they could not fully see the end result at that time, the annexation of Texas was another stronger push of the ball of dis unification. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. The Environment Protection Agency s New Clean Power Plan Introduction Consol Energy is heavily involved in two major industries: coal and natural gas. This is an interesting situation given that the two industries directly compete against one another. As a result, Consol is diversified and strategically projected against the risk of downturn in either profit stream. Coal Industry The coal industry has a gloomy economic forecast going forward. The U.S. Environment Protection Agency s new Clean Power Plan (a part of the Clean Air Act) causes much uncertainty for corporations like Consol. It was proposed by the EPA in June of 2014. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Prices for coal are currently down. This drop has coincided with the drop in oil prices. Originally, it was expected that these two prices would be tied together, and that the drop would be quite temporary. However, the longer that coal has been down, the more likely it looks like it is down for the count so to speak. Many analysts believe that there has been an over production of coal in the past decade and the market has been saturated as a result. With every passing month that coal s prices stay low, and the supplies keep growing, it becomes less likely that things will turn around for the better in a permanent manner. Even with the rest of the world playing catchup with the transition to zero carbon intensive energy sources, the U.S. coal exports have been extremely low. China, for instance, has imported less in recent years. At one point, they were helping to drive our export market. In response to the lower demand, many mining corporations have begun to optimize their operations. This has been done by focusing on lower mining production costs, cheaper transportation costs, and favorable exchange rates. The goal is to keep operations from further declining profit wise as the U.S. Energy Information Administration expects a 7% decrease in total coal consumption for the year 2015. This decline in coal consumption will likely cause a decline in coal production, causing a decline in jobs for states such as Wyoming, West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, and ... • 7. Summary Of The Gangster We Are All Looking For Many say that a picture is worth a thousand words, but Le Thi Diem Thuy can paint a picture in her readers minds with less than twenty. She uses detailed imagery to construct a mosaic of five stories in The Gangster We Are All Looking For, a novel inspired by her own immigration to America. She takes on the role of a young girl who narrates the struggles she faces alongside her mother and father (also known as Ma and Ba ) to adapt to their new environment and move on from past memories and failures. Through the use of intense imagery and figurative language, Le evokes vivid images and feelings in her readers to expose her characters dispositions, experiences, and emotions. Le uses descriptive imagery of objects in order to show the internal nature of the characters. The narrator holds a butterfly paperweight next to her ear and [hears] a soft rustling, like wings brushing against a windowpane. The rustling was a whispered song. It was the butterfly s way of speaking, and [she] thought [she] understood it (Le 25) Le captures the narrator s young, wild imagination by showing an impossible interaction between the narrator and the butterfly paperweight. She evokes an image of wings brushing against a windowpane to prompt readers to imagine the butterfly s swift fluttering in the paperweight. She compares the paperweight to her Ba s heavy head pressed down on the pillow at night, full of thoughts that dragged him into nightmares when all he wanted was a dream as sweet ... However, instead of watching a late night horror movie, they begin to watch a Trump rally. Children are always known to follow what they see either on television or in their own homes. In Hillary Clinton s recent campaign advertisement entitled Rolemodels, Clinton attempts to appeal to viewers emotions by using various designs to demonstrate how a Trump presidency would damage our children. Hillary Clinton takes on the concept of Children learning how to act by what they watch on the television, mainly targeting Donald Trumps heinous public behavior and speeches. While images of the kids watching television play, different statements from Donald Trump s interviews and rallies are heard in the background accompanied by very slow rhythm piano music. • 10. Leadership Theory And Philosophy Of Leadership Essay The belief of leadership is constantly changing, with many theories and frameworks available. Today s organizations face ever increasing change, which includes increased patient demands and work needs, which requires a more adaptive flexible leadership that is becoming increasingly important in the 21st century. Leadershiptheory and philosophy can be divided into several well known styles. Within this paper, we will discuss the basis of autocratic, democratic, laissez faire, servant, charismatic, transformational, and situational styles of leadership within the nursing profession, then conclude the writer s personal philosophies of leadership. To begin, autocratic leadership involves leaders to make decisions without input from their followers (Frandsen, 2014). This style of leadership also incorporates negative reinforcement. Maboko (2011) gathered that nurse managers who embodied an autocratic leadership style yield registered nurses to feel unappreciated, criticized and blamed. On the other hand, a democratic leadership encourages and facilitates open discussions and participation from its followers. Followers are given responsibility, accountability and constructive feedback to improve (Frandsen, 2014). McKeown and Carey (2015) stated the lack of democracy and participation is one of many sources of a decreased morale. The lack of control had a negative connotation on nurses and their relationships with patients. Additionally, this resulted in fragmented care and poor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, When it comes to abolishing or getting rid of nuclear weapons; particularly, nuclear bombs or warheads mounted on a long range ballistic missile; There is plenty of controversy and argument over this topic. The world has had plenty of instances where if nuclear bombs were not in play, The situation would have been a more peaceful experience. But speaking in long term effects, How would not having and nukes around truly change the world? And how would it effect the history of mankind? When it comes to the pros with ridding the earth of powerful nuclear weaponry, people who prefer them gone believe this would influence a more peaceful future for humanity, And create a safer world for the generations to come. This would take years to accomplish and plenty of negotiations with other nations, But the end result would be a huge step towards world peace. The smaller weaker and poorer nations around the world would feel less worried about getting picked on by richer and larger countries. People who believe the banning of nukes would greatly reduce and chances of an all out nuclear war ravishing the earth with radiation, And ending the lives of millions if not billions of men, women, and children. The Purpose Of Collective Memory In The United States Political communities, nations and/states, have been formed from shared territory, a constitution, and perhaps most importantly through a collective memory. Memory is traditionally understood as a way of maintaining information, typically a personal and individual affair. But collective memory serves a purpose of connecting the some past experience of a group of individuals to the present to form a narrative. Identityclaims, when pushed, characteristically seek something else: to establish the sameness, the continuity, of a person or community across time and in the face of apparent change (Booth 1999, p.249). • 15. Murray Bowen Differentiation Of Self The term Differentiation refers to a developmental process when a skill becomes more sophisticated and broken into subsets. According to Professor Murray Bowen, differentiation of self is one s ability to separate one s own intellectual and emotional functioning from that of family. He states, The one most important goal of familysystems therapy is to help family members toward a better level of differentiation of self. Murray is saying that through family therapy, one can develop their true self. He continues by saying that families are actually stuck to each other and this background affects a person/people. Bowan talks about someone with low differentiation and describes them as being sewn to family emotions. People with low differentiation depend more on others for acceptance and approval. They either conform to others or attempt to force others to conform to themselves. These particular people become more vulnerable to the deterioration of stress. Having a well differentiated self is ideal in life. In family therapy, the triangle method is often used. He states, There was a different emphasis on the triangle between self and parents, which is the most important primary triangle in life. The relationship with self and parents develops a background that could change someone s life. Whenever two people are having issues with each other, they may triangle in a third participant. Folly, the daughter of Plutus and Youth, wants to inform all of the great gods that she can bring joy to everyone. She wanted to build an empire of her own, since there was not one built for her. Many of the gods during that time had the perception that many women did not know what they were talking about, and were seen as simple minded. However, Folly has the idea that people will not be able to create or form any relationship without her power. Since Folly believes that no one takes her serious, or any of her propositions, she wants to show everyone that life would not be the same without her. In a sense, Folly is giving herself credit so that everyone can value her even more. As she is talking about herself, she is giving everyone else the opportunity to see what kind of person she really is. Erasmus states that I am the one and indeed, the only one whose divine powers can gladden the hearts of gods and men (9). This quote explains the idea of Folly proving to everyone that life would not be the same without her. Words such divine powers and gladden can depict the idea that Folly is going to do whatever it takes to her point across to the gods and everyone else. Wittenberg would become known as the starting place of the reformation, but prior to Luther s writings was a poor, unattractive town, with old, small, ugly wooden houses, more like a village than a town (Pettegree 7). • 37. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pcr Polymerase Chain Reaction The enzymatic or the molecular xeroxing process in which a particular region of DNA is replicated several times to yield thousands of copies of a specific sequence is termed as Polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The process of PCR employs a sophisticated and precise pattern of heating and cooling of samples in a thermal cycler, over 30 cycles. Each cycle generates a copy of the target DNA sequence for each molecule incorporating the target sequence. Oligonucleotide primers define the boundaries of the amplified product which are complementary to the 3 ends of the target sequence. Since its invention in 1983 by Kary Mullis; PCR has radically changed our approach to molecular biology. It brought forward a new perspective in the field of medical sciences and genetics. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is a simple technique to understand and use, and it produces results rapidly (Vogel et al., 2012). It is highly sensitive, with the potential to produce millions to billions of copies of a specific product for sequencing, cloning, and analysis. This is true of qPCR as well, but qPCR has the advantage of quantification of the synthesized product. Thus, it can be used to analyze alterations of gene expression levels in tumors, microbes, or other disease states. However, PCR also has limitations. Because it is highly sensitive, any form of contamination of the sample by even trace amounts of DNA can produce misleading results (Vogel et al., 2012; Smith and Osborn, 2009). In addition, to design primers for PCR, some prior sequence data are needed. Therefore, PCR can be used only to identify the presence or absence of a known pathogen or gene. Another limitation is that the primers used for PCR can anneal nonspecifically to sequences that are similar, but not completely identical, to target DNA. Moreover, incorrect nucleotides can be incorporated into the PCR sequence by the DNA polymerase, albeit at a very low ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To fully understand the purpose of this poem, the painting by Brueghel and myth of Icarus should be studied beforehand. By describing the visuals in the beginning, using specific diction, and making a noticeable attitude shift, Hamburger paints a mental picture of the fateful, unnoticed fall of Icarus. In the first stanza, the stage is set with the types of people who were in close proximity of the fallen Icarus: the ploughman, fisherman, and the sailor. However, none succeeded in recognizing the rise and descent of Icarus as they were absorbed in their own tasks, immersed in their own thoughts. The ploughman ploughs, the fisherman dreams of fish;/ Aloft, the sailor . Hearing the wings of the hero, the shepherd was the sole being that took note of the strange phenomenon above him.
