novel, we are greeted with the kind and gentle people who Tayo is able to form a bond with. One of
the most prominent is his uncle Josiah. Josiah a farm hand by all accounts was an honest, hard

Mexican cattle from a relative of the night swan, who he was seeing at the time. To Tayo, Josiah is a

Ideology and Reality in the Movie, The Matrix Essay examples
Ideology and Reality in the Movie, The Matrix
The matrix, as presented in the eponymous film, operates as an Althusserian Ideological State
Apparatus (ISA). The Matrix1 presents a world in which the state [as] a machine of repression is made
literal where robots rule the land (Althusser 68). It is true that they rule by force (sentinels and agents)
and these constitute the Repressive State Apparatus, but their primary force of subjugation is the
matrix, their ISA. The film traces the path of one man, Neo, in his painful progress from the ideology
of the matrix to the real world, or the ideology of the real. 2 The matrix, unlike the ideology of the
real, is explicitly defined along Althusserian lines as an ISA. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

These are the world outlooks of religious ideology, ethical ideology, legal ideology, political ideology,
etc. (87). It is important to realize that ideology here is a completely imaginary construct, though from
within any particular ideology, it is indistinguishable from the borders of the real conditions
of...existence (87). Althusser identifies a second thesis regarding ideology: Ideology has a material
existence (Althusser 89). In spite of its necessarily imaginary nature, ideology is only manifested
through physical action. This materiality introduces the notion of the subject. The existence of the
ideas of [the subject s] belief is material in that his ideas are his material actions inserted into material
practices governed by material rituals which are themselves defined by the material ideological
apparatus from which derive the ideas of that subject (92). Which is to say that, a subject s intellectual
ideas are only manifested through the physical actions that are inherently rooted in the ideology. It is
impossible to express thought without action, and it is impossible to act without ideology. Thus,
ideology becomes not only the imaginary relationship to reality, but also the physicality of reality.
Being both the idea of reality and the material manifestation of such, ideology then becomes
indistinguishable from reality, leading to Althusser s use of both terms

In absence of overbooking even on flights that were sold out , 15 % of seats would be unfilled. Also ,
numerous number of discounted fares and ever changing fares till the last moment pose a great
challenge for the airlines to determine exact amount of overbooking that needs to be done for a

Sometimes Airlines need to pay for accommodating passengers in case of number of passengers

The Nazi Party
On January 20, 1942 a meeting was held with fifteen men who were either part of the Nazi party or
other powerful government leaders. The meeting took place in a wealthy area in Berlin on a lake that
was named Wannsee. The final solution to the jewish question was the focus of the meeting. The term
final solution was the phrase used by the Nazi s for their plan for the extermination of all European
Jews. This meeting was the first time that the government leaders not involved with the Nazi party
were introduced to the plan for the Jews that the Nazi s had carefully developed. The meeting was
formally known as the Wannsee Conference and the minutes that came from that conference were top
secret and were not meant for others to see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was not a single person present at the conference that opposed the final solution . A modern
country had never made a plan to wipe out an entire race. There was fifteen men that attended the
Wannsee conference most of which were highly ranked Nazi officials and others were crucial
government leaders in Germany that helped the Nazi s complete their plan. Among the agencies
represented were the Department of Justice, the Foreign Ministry, the Gestapo, the SS, the Race and
Resettlement Office, and the office in charge of distributing Jewish property. Also at the meeting was
a representative of the General Government, the Polish occupation administration, whose territory
included more than 2 million Jews. The head of Heydrich s office for Jewish affairs, Adolf Eichmann,
prepared the conference notes. (Michael Berenbaum). All the men at the conference knew that their
cooperation was essential for the plan to run smoothly. For all the men at the conference more than
half of them received doctorate degrees from universities in Germany. The Nazi s didn t need to do
much convincing of the non Nazi government leaders of letting them move the Jews east and putting
them into concentration camps they knew that was going to happen. They also understood what the
final solution was, but in the Wannsee Protocol it never said that they planned on extermination. The
first gas chambers were built in Poland just months

Photographer Techniques
A good photographer knows how to use some little tricks to create a pretty scene, and the good
photographer knows how to use small techniques to build the mood for the photo. Pretty scene and
mood of the photo together create the meaning for the photo, and they allure people to step into the
photo. Some of the techniques that used to make a photo looks pretty is the lighting of the photo, and
the angle of that photo. And some tricks that are used to create a photo are models, sand, fake fog, etc.
Photographer just needs a little bit of tricks to create a deep meaning of the photo. The first photo
shows a mysterious wardrobe that stands in the middle of some nowhere desert. The wardrobe is
surrounded by cloud and fog. The sky is not clear, and it does not present the sky blue color. Instead,
the sky is cloudy and gloomy. It seems like some important but mysterious event is in prepare to
happen. Then suddenly appears a mysterious wardrobe on the desert under the gloomy sky. The rocks

Second photo shows a man is building a model of a small wardrobe on top of a stone. The man wears
a pair of glasses is carefully bends in front of the model. His brow furrows and his lip tightly together
all show that he is afraid any additional actions might mess up the model. The man holds a white cup
with fake fog on it. He carefully uses his right hand to spill the fog around the wardrobe, and he uses
his left hand to hold on to the stone and adjust the wardrobe. Third photo shows a camera in front of
the model. Model is put on a table in the beach, and it is put under the cloudy but not gloomy sky. The
camera stands so close to the wardrobe because the wardrobe is small. Then the photo is taken, and the
first photo appears. Photographer then change the background color of the first photo to make it seems

The Right Side of History
Unrest in the Arab World
Will the United States be on the right side of history?
The Right Side of History? The wave of demonstrations, uprisings and revolutions in North Africa and
the Middle East has presented the United States with a complex set of diplomatic problems. While a
key component of U.S. foreign policy is promoting and supporting democracy, it is vital to U.S.
interests that the Middle East remains relatively stable. A truly democratic Arab world is a new
concept, and is one that has yet to show its true colors. If the result of the Palestinian Authority
legislative elections held in January of 2006 is any indication of what may evolve in the region, the
U.S. has plenty of cause for concern. The elections, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shortly after the protests began in Tunisia, a wave of protests and demonstrations swept over the Arab
world, from Algeria to Yemen, with few countries being exempt from the movement. Leaders of
wealthier countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain, offered economic concessions to stave
off unrest. Other leaders offered minor political concessions. Yet the protests continue. The Egyptian
Revolution, which began with protests on January 25, 2011 and lasted for 18 days, became a media
sensation watched worldwide. Not only conventional media, but social media as well. Social media
played an unprecedented and important role in Egypt, changing the face of revolutions forever. Unlike
Tunisia, a marginal actor in the region, Egypt is the most populous, and one could argue, the most
important country in the Middle East, at least in terms of maintaining stability. The U.S., which had
backed the Egyptian government militarily since 1979 and had friendly relations with Mubarak, was
faced with tough diplomatic decisions. Many foreign relations experts agree that the Obama
Administration did a reasonable job handling the tricky situation. Once Mubarak stepped down,
without the major bloodshed that would have occurred if the military had attack its own people, the

Government Regulation
The purpose of this paper is to assess different types of government regulations, how those regulations
affect current market structures while defining the different types of market structures and finally what
provisions and laws have been put in place to protect consumers and society from big business and
firms choices.
Industrial regulation is the government s attempt to enact laws designed to prevent firms from
participating in bad monopolistic practices and to promote competition in the market space. The
reason industrial regulation exists is to keep an eye on firms by making sure monopolies don t start,
however if they do or currently exist regulations are put in place to monitor prices and products to
make sure society and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Economic theory justifies natural monopolies on the basis that consumers can benefit from a
monopoly so long as restrictions are put into place surrounding output and high prices of goods by the
monopoly. Consumers benefit by being able to purchase a desired product at lower per unit costs. To
provide an example of how natural monopolies are established most often would be surrounding
public utilities, such as water, gas and electricity services. It makes more sense for the city or state to
take on these responsibilities rather than having multiple firms in the market driving up price and
providing lesser goods/services per firm. Economic theory supports monopoly in industries like public
transportation and the postal service.
Beginning in the late 1800s government began to enact four major pieces of legislation collectively
known as the Antitrust Laws. The Sherman Act of 1890 is the founding legislation which states that
any firm or individual operating in restraint of trade is committing an illegal act and secondly any
person or firm attempting to monopolize or conspire has committed a felony. The first piece of
legislation is the Clayton Act of 1914 which directly builds on the Sherman Act by specifying what
specific acts are in restraint of trade and attempts at monopolization. Sections of the act outlaw price
discrimination, tying contracts, purchase of stock of a rival firm that would cause less competition an

The Love Of Sacrifice By Emily Stimpson
The Love of Sacrifice Sacrifice is necessary in getting through life. We sacrifice in order to reach
something of a higher value, but in Mother Teresa s case was reaching God. Living in a world full of
low wage income families, homelessness, and so on, and we pass them by without ever
needing/wanting to pay them anything, so at least they could live a better life. Mother Teresa is an
example of self sacrifice for the God. As stated by Father Joseph Langford,M.C. in the Article
Sacrifice written by Emily Stimpson, Holiness is living God s life, and God has told us that he is love
not just any kind of love, how ever, but a love that is self emptying and self gift (Stimpson).
Decisively, this quote points out to what sacrifice is. Passion and love are vital to human beings. She
has been stated in Gloria Steinem s book, Herstory Women Who changed the World, she had an huge
impact on many people s lives and Today, on seven continents and in eighty seven countries, her
mission to service the poor purely for the love of God continues (Ashby and Ohrn 238). Being this,
she was an important person in her century and looking back upon it she made a huge impact in
variety of people s lives throughout the years till she died. Mother Teresa s objective of conveying
contentment and gaiety to the impecunious through self sacrifice elevates the components of
altruism/selflessness and adoration that are so imperative to the foundation of peace. Vitally, Mother
Teresa was

Periodontitis Cigarette Smoking
Cigarette smoking not only has a negative effect on respiratory and cardiovascular health, but also has
been associated with diabetes, gastrointestinal and thyroid diseases, and almost every other organ
system in the body (Johnson Guthmiller, 2007). Linked to various cancers, smoking is extremely
detrimental (Johnson Guthmiller, 2007). Smoking is also the major risk factor for periodontitis
(Preshaw et al, 2015). While increasing the prevalence of periodontitis, smoking also has a profound
effect on the severity of periodontal disease in individuals (Preshaw et al, 2015). The third National
Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) in 2000 found that 41.9% of periodontitis
cases in the United States were attributable to current cigarette smoking (Tomar Asma, 2000).
Smokers have a four times greater chance to be diagnosed with periodontitis (Johnson Guthmiller,
2007). Indeed, patients who are smokers also do not appear to respond as favourably to periodontal
treatment and show a greater risk of refractory and/or recurrent periodontal disease (Fardal, 2008).
Multiple studies show that smoking has the potential to alter numerous processes in the oral cavity
(Preshaw et al, 2015). Most notably, smoking has been shown to modify various aspects of physiology
in patients, impair immunological response and alter the microflora of the oral cavity (Presahaw et al,
2015). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Will Weaver Prediction
My prediction is that Miles will try to build to Mr. Kurz, cabin And make it livable for the winter
cause, Will weaver has been giving hints like, what i m saying is , give me a couple months to work
on the cabin, and then we can decide whether or not to stay (225). And maybe three or four months is
enough to make it survivable for the winter and I think Miles will be able to because he is very smart
with that kind of stuff. The Ali princess is a bike that he made that can fit four people and it has a sail
too. And also close to the end of the book he turned the Ali princess into a boat with the wheels to

with raccoons and bears and probably more and (225). Mr kurz was so smart he built the cabin all by
himself. he also was in the military when he was younger. but now he is in a nursing home because his
sister died and Mr. kurz went to the funeral and his family put him in the nursing home. Mr. kurz hated

find his way to his cabin and got lost thankfully the police found him and took him back to the nursing
home called Buena vista which in Spanish meant beautiful view his view was a brick wall. Miles went

he spread the ashes all over in the river and Miles explained it very

How Does Chaucer Present The Skipper In Canterbury Tales
Hardy he was, prudent in undertaking is how Chaucer describes the Skipper (also known as the
Shipman) in the Canterbury Tales. He views the Skipper as excellent, smart and obtaining dispatch by
describing him as hardy in the prologue and by having him tell a tale about a monk sneakily seduces a
rich merchant s wife, without him ever finding out. The Skipper was an excellent fellow. From years
of sailing, he became tan and wore a dagger on a lanyard which hung from his neck. He ignored the
rules of conscience and rode a farmer s horse as best as he could, The summer heat had tanned his
color brown, and certainly he was an excellent fellow. The Skipper certainly seemed like an excellent
fellow because he had a moral sense. He did all he could do, only looking to satisfy himself rather
than what other people may think. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He knew where all of the retreats and shelters were, from Gottland, all the way to the Cape of
Finisterre. As well as shelters, he knew where to find streams of water in Britain and Spain. The name
of his canal boat was The Maudelayne. And he knew all the havens as they were, from Gottland to the
Cape of Finisterre, And every creek in Brittany and Spain; The barge he owned was called The
Maudelayne. From this, we can infer how smart the Skipper was. Although he knew his way around
for when we was on his boat, he had a back up plan just in case his boat were to be destroyed he
would find the nearest shelter. To tie in to the Skipper being smart, he displayed great dispatch. He
dealt with his opponents quickly and efficiently. As for his skill in reckoning his tides, currents, and
many another risk besides, moons, harbors, pilots, he had such dispatch that none from Hull to
Carthage was his match. What we can understand from this, is that because he was so skillful with
estimating when tides or currents would occur, no opponent would be able to defeat

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pervaporation
Observed first in 1919 by P.A. Kober, pervaporation, as the name delineates, incorporates permeation
of a component into the involved membrane matrix and the successive evaporation of the permeated
component into the vapour phase inside the membrane matrix. The vapour liquid interface is extant
inside the membrane. The component from the liquid feed that permeates into the membrane
vaporizes into its corresponding vapour state in situ and gets selectively permeated to the other side
which depends on the difference between the transport rates of the components in the liquid feed.
Generally, the feed or the upstream side is at atmospheric pressure, while the permeate or the
downstream side is kept under vacuum so as to allow the selective evaporation of the target
component after permeation through the membrane (der Bruggen et al., 2015). The driving force is the
differences in partial pressures of the components on either side of the membrane. A thing of note: the
volatility difference between the feed components does not play any role whatsoever in determining
the selectivity of the components (Huang et al., 2008). The mechanism involved in pervaporation is
the solution diffusion model.
Pervaporation membranes can be classified depending on the material used for their construction i.e
organic, inorganic and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Organizational Development Is The Best At What They Do
Organizations become successful by being the best at what they do. In other words, how well the body
develops the vision and mission of their organization. I believe the significances of being the best is
the team s approach to OD. some agencies fail to meet the demands of changes internally and
externally. Business conditions do not remain the same year to year. Internal employee s needs and
working conditions also change externally, the costumer s needs change from time to time too. The
understanding of this and knowing how to develop one s organization to meet the change leads to a
successful organization. The CEO, to succeed in developing the business, he must have employee
involvement and commitment. In other words, engaged employees from top management to the team
leaders. The entire workforce must be aware of the vision and mission of the organization and the
changes that will get them there. Organizational development is the thing that will get the organization
to its goals and objectives. According to the textbook, OD encompasses the long range efforts and
plans targeted at improving an organization s talent to endure by changing the way it solves a problem
and revitalize its developments. OD involves moving toward an adaptive organization and achieving
corporate excellence by integrating the desires of employees for growth and development with
organizational Goals (Brown, 2011, p. 4). Not only does it take corporate events, but a corporate

The Trickster Essay
The Trickster
Karl Jung s explanation for the archetypes that surface in cultural and religious literature is that they
are the product of what he calls the collective unconsciousness. That thread of consciousness that
connects all human beings and cultures around the world. Yet it is not visible to the naked eye, one
must look for the signs of it by researching cultures who are long gone and comparing them to each
other and our own. Studying it reminds us that all humans are bound together by a common source.
The quot;Trickster quot; is an archetype that surfaces in many cultural and religious stories. Each

He is always attempting to fly (which is the sign of a god to the Native Americans) with disastrous
consequences. No matter how hard he tries he cannot escape the human condition. Perhaps these
stories are meant to teach Native Americans not to aspire to be anything more than human.
The Trickster can be seen as a parody of the Shaman, or the spiritual leader of the tribe. The Shaman
looks to the supernatural for his strength while the coyote relies on his own wits. The coyote is always
looking for the short cut. Through meditation the Shaman is said to be able to fly. This is a sign of his
divinity. The coyote always has an elaborate scheme for flight, like hitching a ride with a buzzard, but
the end is always the same.( p.87 Hynes and
Doty)
Does this character sound familiar? Millions of kids grew up with this very same character, but we
knew him as Wile Coyote. The Looney Toons character that was always after the Road Runner. The
creators of him were interested in the comedic value they saw in Native American stories and adapted
him into a cartoon. Wile would come up with some elaborate schemes, but in the end the result was
always the same. The long fall from the cliff to the ground.
The Trickster of Greek mythology was a God by the name of Hermes. Once again we see a sort of
bridge between the average man and the gods. Hermes is the only God in Greek mythology that

C6H12O6  C3H4O3  C2H6O + CO2
Ethanol or as we know as alcohol in our beverages can be made from any fruit or vegetable that
performs photosynthesis which produces glucose shown As required as the reactant of the previous
equations.
Balanced chemical equation for Photosynthesis:
6CO2 + 6H2O  C6H12O6 + 6O2 (light energy is used as a catalyst in this equation)
Balanced chemical equation for the fermentation of glucose to ethanol:
C6H12O6(aq)  2C2H5OH(l) + 2CO2(g) (yeast acts as a catalyst in this reaction.)
As the diagram on the right displays, one molecule of Glucose produces two molecules of carbon
dioxide and two molecules of ethanol. The fermentation of glucose to ethanol is only possible if
oxygen is absent otherwise instead of producing ethanol and carbon dioxide, lactic acid is produced
instead.
The first part of the breakdown of glucose is known as Glycolysis, in which one molecule of glucose
is broken down to two molecules of pyruvate (C3H4O3). The second part is the fermentation process
in which the two pyruvate molecules are converted to two molecules of ethanol and two molecules of
carbon dioxide.
PART B

My Name Definition
I define my name, my name does not define me. It does not tell you where I have been, or where I am
going. My name does not tell you my story, my life. My name does not tell you who I am. According
to Urban Dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com) My name Jessica Nicole, means that I am
typically a blonde, who likes to beat up gay guys, if that person talks bad about my best friend. My
name means that I am a troublemaker, who likes to party, and that I am a loud person. Which I am not
this person. I am me, not my name. On a body you can see the scars, of one s past, the pain that they
have gone through, to get to where they are today. You can see if that person allows the sun to shine

The Edgartown Massacre
Meow! Said the kittens at our new local pet store. In the year 2047, we had an overflow of adorable
cats at our store, the store dropped the price very low. The cats were precious they were white, fluffy,
and had cyan blue eyes. Everyone started to buy them, soon they were all sold out. Almost everyone in
our small town of Edgartown, Massachusetts had a cat now. My neighbors Jim and Susan Smith
brought one home, then around midnight, my wife and I heard a gunshot very close. We called the
cops warning them of what we ve heard. In a couple hours we found out they killed each other by
shooting each other at the same time and there have been several other shooting reports around town.
Our neighbors had no reason to commit suicide, they were

Serebrier 9th Symphony
A bit close to a decade ago, I confessed to a friend and fellow reviewer, Julian Grant, who graced
these Amazon pages with his own informative and thought provoking reviews I took the pleasure in
reading, of how dissatisfied I was in music programmes particularly in America s concert halls. I was
ranting about how too little we were exposed to the great composers like Glazunov, Atterberg,
Nielsen, Popov, Myaskovsky, and others and the need to rectify that in part by not overplaying the
familiar Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Beethoven, et al. in these halls. But Julian Grant put the matter into
perspective in reminding me that repeated listening is a complex ingredient in music appreciation. It is
indeed amazing, now that I am thinking about it, of how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is indeed a despondent, anguish work, written (in 1910 originally for piano) at the time in Russian
history where violence and uncertainties abounded. Its bleak language is very much akin to that of his
Two Prelude Improvisations (1918) for pianoforte where conditions were even more precarious. Truth
to tell, I cannot think of a more striking, penetrating orchestral realization of the work s profound
sense of melancholy and dreariness than Gavriil Yudin s. And Serebrier brings these attributes
movingly, with the menacing flutes, prominent in the middle allegro moderato section, that are
perfectly caught. Come to think of it, it would ve been interesting if Glazunov s dramatic overture The
Song of Destiny is included here, for it too shows the composer s changing musical persona under the
conditions he was in.
But be that as it may, this album, extremely well recorded and reverberant, caps what is now the most
absorbing, revelatory, thought provoking, satisfyingly searching Glazunov symphony cycle to date
(and imagine that admirable sense of preparation and knowledge of these symphonies in the
performances of them that took place in just four days June 2 5, 2009). And while some will take issue
with Serebrier s essay where he uses the Bernstein/Mahler series as an example of how much of a
revelation a series like this is (or how much it can be), I for one will not pose an

Analysis Of The Sum Of Our Follies
The Sum of Our Follies (2014) is a recent Malaysian fictional work written by Shih Li Kow. It is a
regional piece a addressing the most conspicuous thrillers of place s meaning and literary imagination.
The story hinges upon several episodes in a small town called Lubok Sayong and other replaces.
Furthermore, the plot includes a number of perennial actions which perpetuate the token of proximity
shared by the lives of Lubok Sayong s inhabitants who reciprocate their visions in an agnate
perspective on life. It is an inherent call for the common sense of human individuality in a collective
place uniting different ways of life. These people are the authentic human phenomenon in a fictional
setting. In fact, the story depicts real life images, such as contemporary Malaysian peripheries; and
challenged once again by socio cultural apathy, the specter of the story s fictional pluralism and the
affectionate buoyancy of Shih Li Kow who seems particularly instructive (Cross, 2006: 49).
The novel tells the story of a middle aged man called Auyong, or the narrator, and an orphan girl Mary
Anne. Auyong leaves his city and job as a supermarket manger in order to work in the town s lychee
canning factory. This circulates his destitution as a human being seeking perfection ... Show more

Real World Periodic Motion Analysis
Real World Periodic Function One of the key characteristics of periodic motion is its period. The
period, T, is the time required to complete one full cycle of the motion. I chose a sprinkler because it
takes approximately five seconds to move from maximum displacement in one direction to maximum
displacement in the opposite direction. It again takes another five seconds to go back to the starting
point. In this case it takes ten seconds to complete one cycle of oscillation, and the period is ten
seconds. Since the sprinkler has a motion that repeats in equal intervals of time, it is therefore a
perfect example of periodic motion. As to derive the functions used in this paper, I had to gather data
for use in the analysis. This is

management position within a sports organization whose main job is to support the athletes on the

and professional leagues. Getting a job within the sports field is highly competitive, but their are more
opportunities now than ever before. I have always wanted to work within sports because of my
passion for fitness and athletics. My major was first Fitness and Health Promotions before I
transferred to the University of Alabama, but I decided to change my major to public relations so I
could work within the business aspect of sports. Working in a fast paced environment with a great deal

exactly that. Public relations is defined as a strategic communication process that builds mutually
beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics (PRSA). After researching various

The Importance Of Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is the ideal kidnapping of the century. Human trafficking is the most harmful crime
that should be taken seriously because of this crime it hurts young women and girls of all ages. Some
say that the crime might be reported, but it doesn t mean it s noticed. There is all the information on it,
the bad info, and ways to solve it, and ways to prevent it from happening to others. With this crime
being the most unnoticed reported crime, people should help solve it.
Human trafficking is the most hurtful and dangerous thing in the 21st century. It s ruining people s
families, and the world doesn t know about this kind of information because of the police force (etc.),
they keep it from getting out. They think that if they keep it from getting out no one will know, but I
think if people found out they will be willing to help out. Human trafficking is a crime against
humanity. We must unite our efforts to free victims and stop this crime that s becoming more
aggressive, that threatens not just individuals, but the foundational values of society. (Pope Francis).
So as you can see human trafficking should be the most important thing for society today because of
the number of lives they re taking away from their own families. However, human trafficking in people
s eyes is a serious crime and a grave violation of human rights.

The Book Of Mark Is Not Written Down By Mark
This passage, unlike any other, is considered to be the start of Jesus path to the cross. In the scripture,
it tells of Jesus and his disciples going into the temple, after coming into the city. There they find
people trading and selling animals. Jesus reaction is unsettling to those who observed and leave them
marveled at his teaching. Jesus then questioned the temple about their intentions of their hearts. He
continued to ask, Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations ?
(Mark 11:17, NRSV). When the priests heard of what had happened, they continued their search to
find a way to kill him. After the uprising had settled, Jesus and his disciples left the city. Although this
may seem like a random act on Jesus part, the encounter in the temple was so much more. The book of
Mark was physically written down by Mark, but tells of the memoirs from Peter. Mark was written
around 60 CE. At the time of the passage, the nation of Israel was suffering Gentiles. Because the
audience was mostly Gentile, Mark had to take the words of Peter and translate meanings in a way the
Gentiles would understand. Sadducees, one of the four sects of Judaism, were in charge and held the
official positions of Israel. This would stand, as long as they can keep peace among the city and
control the riots and uprights Jesus would eventually bring. Nero was ruler, a ruler very notorious for
crucifying christians. Mark was known for his intercalations, which

Should Starwood maintain a cooperative orientation or a competitive orientation with its suppliers for
the kind of items described here?
Since Starwood engages in sourcing they can t avoid doing business with other organizations
concerning themselves with of their merchandise by suppliers. An organization that dals with other
organizations while it is sourcing its products is deemed to have a status of business partners. So due
to this reason Starwood should maintain a cooperative orientation with suppliers so they are not seen
as a business entity.
The manner of which Starwood operations are done is influenced by the suppliers they deal with
regularly. To ensure that there is a smooth running of operations Starwood needs to create a
cooperative orientation with its suppliers to avoid any issues. While in the process of conducting
business with suppliers, cooperation is highly important as it ensures that companies that are involved
in this case are Starwood and its suppliers they both need to ensure they both have a win win situation
where no party can be undermined.
Cooperation also ensures that terms and conditions are agreed upon and are fair to participating

So, for me, banning the sale of violent video games to minors is one of the best prevention methods to

1. This legislation is to strengthen the present industry controlled rating system and to ban the sale or

assaulting an image of a human being to those who were under 18 (Mears).
2. Retailers who violate this law will be fine and it also requires the game maker to put an 18 label on

the violent video games. Now, you all can see that banning of the sale of violent video games to

The Growth of Portuguese Immigrants and their ensuing...
The Portuguese came to America for the opportunity and chance to obtain the American Dream. While
most immigrants that came to America worked factory jobs, the Portuguese came for whaling, fishing,
ship making, and the aquaculture industry. There was a need for the new wave of Portuguese
immigrants to be close to the water since Portugal resides along the Atlantic Ocean, so therefore they
settled in regions such as: Southern New England, San Francisco Bay, California, and Hawaii.
Considering Portugal s close approximation to the water, one may understand why mostly all
Portuguese immigrants worked in maritime industry. Unfortunately, even considering all the labor and
business the Portuguese brought to America, there was still discrimination towards them and their
contributions to America s industrial growth. The ideology, nativism, was the concept of protecting the
interests of established inhabitants, which henceforth created countless difficulties for the Portuguese.

The theory of multiple intelligences which has been a significant and remarkable contribution for
many educators and researchers that were studying the reasons and element necessaries to the teaching
of specific intelligences was elaborated by Howard Gardner a Harvard Psychologist using many
science concepts to explain human intellect.
In this theory of Multiples intelligences at the beginning he proposed that there were seven main
identified fields in which everybody have special abilities that he describes as intelligences.
With the Gardner definition of multiples intelligence as a mix of abilities that can be broadened and
developed throughout the course of an individual life. He created the bases for a new education model.
With this conception that it is actually implemented in many school around the world his followers
can see and assure most of the background ideas of his theory.
Gardner study at Harvard University was to address the work of Alfred Binet about The IQ or
Intelligence quotient that it s supposed to measure the intelligence. This test is the base too of another
well known test used now a days in a lot of schools, the famous SAT or Scholastic Aptitude Test

Industrialization And New Immigration Essay
Industrialization, Workers, and the New Immigration Immigrants coped with the conditions as they
found them in America s brimming cities in two major ways. First, and less importantly, they often
connected to the political machines that dominated cities in those days, around the 1890s. These
machines eased the workload placed upon the immigrants and made the environment more suitable to
thrive in; in return, the immigrants voted for the machinery. Some workers would look at the
machinery and call them wonderful monsters, strong enough to lift mountains. Second, and more
importantly, immigrants organized their own communities. Due to the physical conditions, language
barriers, and psychological strains of moving to a new country, immigrants tended to group together
with people of their home country. Small enclaves formed in many cities where everyone spoke their
language and had similar customs. (QUOTE ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although people in other countries portrayed America as the Golden Country , the reality was that the
conditions that people lived in would horrify someone from the present day. The immigrant men
worked for a quarter (or less) of what the American factory men were paid, which could not
comfortably support a family. One man claimed that he was merely paid $1.50 a day and his rent was
$1.50 per week. An interview with a fellow immigrant left people speechless when he stated that he
did not know when he and his wife last fed their children aside from a stolen loaf of bread. Poverty
became popular and health seemed to be a problem with almost every one. Cholera and Typhus were
among the few major diseases that caused many deaths. In the 1890 s, plumbing was nonexistent, so
families would dump their litter and excrement among the streets. Vendors sold produce on these
streets, thus contaminating the product with feces and disease.(QUOTE FROM

Molly Kathleen mentioned something about visiting the Fairlea s chapel. I m positive there s never
been a chapel at the Fairlea and I m positive Molly Kathleen knows it as well, having pestered
everyone about historical facts and dates while she did her research of Off End. Sally walked slowly
past Lital and Anna, turning her head towards her friends and purred: Pay the lady, girls, pay the lady!
Anna turned to her cousin: No so fast Quickdraw. We need proof now don t we. Sally looked at her
friends then looked towards the front desk: You could check with registration. Sally smiled then began
slowly walking back to the crowd. Lital and Anna almost ran to reception. Anna slowed and composed
herself. She knew the evening agent and smiled as she said: Good evening, Mathew. How is
everything this evening? Mathew knew Anna but, like many staff, was uncomfortable around the
famous rock star. Hello, Kon... I mean... Anna, all s well, thank you . Mathew, would you mind if ...

Detrimental Effects of the Vietnam War
The Vietnam War was, and continues to be, one of America s darkest moments, one that nearly tore
the nation apart. In order to stop the spread of communism in Europe and Asia, the United States aided
French imperialists and their reoccupation of Vietnam. At first, the U.S took a position of neutrality to
both countries, but by early 1947, they began fighting in support of France. This war, lasting over 20
years, became the longest and most unpopular war in the 20th century. Overall, the Vietnam War was
detrimental to the United States because it caused a massive debt from the 1960s to the 1990s, turned
the American people against their government, and many troops were neglected and despised upon
their return.

They speculated that if one land in a region came under the influence of Communism, the surrounding
countries would follow in a domino like effect . (Small) So basically, once one country turns to
Communism, all the surrounding countries will follow until it has taken over completely. This theory
was used by U.S administrators during the Cold War to clarify and justify the need for American
intervention around the world. The idea had been in existence for quite some time, but it was only
clear what it really was when President Dwight D. Eisenhower put it into words in 1954, when
referring to communism. In order for Vietnam to be free of a Communist government, the United
States decided to ally with France so the Vietminh could not gain more power. Since the Americans
were fresh out of fighting the Korean and Chinese Civil War, they believed Communism could be
spreading everywhere. Beginning in 1950, the United States initially pledged $15 million dollars in
aid of the French. This was the start of an American debt that would damage the U.S economy for
almost 30 years. The President of this time, Lyndon B. Johnson, played down the United States role in
Vietnam for two reasons. He believed that if Americans felt that this war had to be fought in order to
protect their country from Communism, the public would demand a full scale, no holds barred war
that could have led to Chinese and Russian

The Importance Of Authoritarian Government In South Korea
Within the last few decades, the internal affairs in South Korea have been anything but smooth. The
public demand for a democratic future is prevalent, but it is unquestionable that the authoritarian
leaders and government have had a larger impact that any democratic ones. The strong hand of leaders
like Syngman Rhee and Park Chung hee allowed South Korea to persevere through difficult times and
explode onto the international market. The measures leaders in the 60s, 70s, and 80s took to get Korea
to the position of wealth it reached have had some dire consequences that are still felt today. There is
no sign of stopping either, as the country has been preoccupied with many other issues and has had
democracy thrust upon them, leaving many flaws in the system. The power vacuums, unbalanced
social structure, and violent riots have been constant effects brought on by the rise and fall of South
Korea s authoritarian past. This instability and volatile nature of modern South Korean government
and society is the most well defined and over arching theme caused by authoritarian policies and
decisions
Shorty after Korea declared its independence Syngman Rhee was elected their first president by a
wide margin. However, once he began creating legislation to extend his presidency and silencing his
opposition, it was clear that his rule would be an authoritarian one. After the April Revolution, a clear
precedent was set for government civilian interaction in Korea. struggle between

Funding For Construction Projects Increase With Lower...
One year before Hurricane Katrina, it was reported that 4,663 of the 14,008 worked within the
neighborhood. As 2011, 1192 which was about half the population worked in the neighborhood. The
majority of the current jobs within the neighborhood are located on the boundary line of St. Claude.
Others are employed in nearby neighborhoods such as the upper ninth ward, and bear by parish of St.
Bernard. These jobs are mostly minimum wage with 27.9% of the 2011 population earning less than
$1250 a month which is a decrease from the 42% of the 2004 population. 50.6% earn up to $3,333 and
68.7% above the poverty line as of 2012 (Lower Ninth Ward Statistical Area).
There are a few active signs of the building of new business. The 31.3% poverty of the population
shows evidences that there is still a need for services, employment, and resources for this community.
Research shows that since Mitch Landrieu took office in 2010, funding for construction projects
increase with Lower Ninth Ward first on its list. The funding was as follows: $60 million for street
repairs, $50 million for rebuilding schools and $14.5 million for a new community center. As of 2012
there was little sign of new construction for this neighborhood (Parker, 2012). However, there is
evidence that more families are returning, moving in, and people are taking pride in the community.
This is evident in the increase of Community Gardens, small number of bilged homes removal,
rebuilding of family homes, and a small number

reducing the carbon prints of sourcing out materials as well the recycling processes of the product.

The major difference between sustainability and sustainable design is the ability of a designer to
design a product to be classified as a sustainable design and which also complies with the rules that
guide the environmental, economic and social impact of the product.
If we are to deal effectively with the many contemporary issues of environmental degradation and
social inequality of the resources and benefits of society, we are going to have to rethink our notions
of our materialism culture, especially in the economically developed countries. The power to change
the way we design, manufacture our products, recycle and market it falls on the designers. Potentially,
designers can make a significant contribution to this undertake by developing possible solutions that
challenge precedents and demonstrate alternative possibilities. But to achieve this according to Stuart
walker we will need to change design education and design practice and develop new understandings
of product aesthetics and our notions of what can be called a good design.
Stuart Walker went on to say, depending on whether we like it or not, within the discipline of
industrial or product design industry, there is a major emphasis on product appearance, in both
professional practice and design education, and it is this engrossment that, in many ways, renders
Products aesthetics hollow and superficial.
A designed product that gave the perfect response to this

French Counter terrorism compared to the UN Charter
The struggle against international terrorism has become more of a serious issue since 9/11, but France
has treated counterterrorism which is the strategies that the government and military used for decades
in respond to any terrorist acts. The French government views counterterrorism whether domestic and
foreign in the same manner. France treats the enemy combatant at a high priority level, while America
has now gain universal acceptance since 9/11. However, the French governments view the threat of

While, the French government surveillance controls the practical capacity of terrorist; the UN Charter
is committed to freeze and seized any terrorist activities that intimidate a country. Both the UN charter
and France have to follow the rule of law which is to fairly apply and enforced the principle of law.
This had to be changed after the National Security Agency (NSA) former contractor Edward Snowden
whistleblower leaked highly classified government surveillance in the United States (US) It has had a
material impact on our ability to generate insights as to what terrorist groups around the world are
doing,. (Leopold, J., February 25).This did not only affect the US but it affected the United Kingdom s
Government Communications Headquarter (GCHQ) that is responsible to provide signal intelligence
to the British Government. As a result of Snowden leaked of information it impacted on the terrorist

The Rise Of Terrorist Groups During The Middle East

The Rise of Terrorist Groups in the Middle East. The Middle East has been an area of conflict and
religious extremism for the latter half of the twentieth century and it is expected to continue to be a
region of conflict in the future. Why is it that terrorist groups constantly emerge and dominate for a
period of time before steadily declining, only to be replaced by a different, equally or even more
inhumane, splinter group? Saudi Arabian Wahhabism is a strain of fundamentalist Islam that has
invaded and displaced traditionally moderate Islam and generates much of the conflict in the Middle
East today. To combat and destroy future extremism and solve the problem permanently, the world and
its inhabitants must deracinate this menace from its roots. Aside from religious fundamentalism, a
large portion of the problem lies in the modern history of the Middle East. When the Ottoman Empire
collapsed in 1920, combined British and French politicians, scholars, archaeologists, military officers
and colonial administrators arbitrarily divided up the boundaries of the newly created nations in the
Sykes Picot agreement. In effect, they created the first reason for much of the sectarian and ethnic
conflict found in the Middle East. Regardless of intention, the British placed disparate tribes that had
warred for centuries in the same country and divided ethnicities and culturally similar groups into
different countries. Similar to how

  • 3. Ideology and Reality in the Movie, The Matrix Essay examples Ideology and Reality in the Movie, The Matrix The matrix, as presented in the eponymous film, operates as an Althusserian Ideological State Apparatus (ISA). The Matrix1 presents a world in which the state [as] a machine of repression is made literal where robots rule the land (Althusser 68). It is true that they rule by force (sentinels and agents) and these constitute the Repressive State Apparatus, but their primary force of subjugation is the matrix, their ISA. The film traces the path of one man, Neo, in his painful progress from the ideology of the matrix to the real world, or the ideology of the real. 2 The matrix, unlike the ideology of the real, is explicitly defined along Althusserian lines as an ISA. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are the world outlooks of religious ideology, ethical ideology, legal ideology, political ideology, etc. (87). It is important to realize that ideology here is a completely imaginary construct, though from within any particular ideology, it is indistinguishable from the borders of the real conditions of...existence (87). Althusser identifies a second thesis regarding ideology: Ideology has a material existence (Althusser 89). In spite of its necessarily imaginary nature, ideology is only manifested through physical action. This materiality introduces the notion of the subject. The existence of the ideas of [the subject s] belief is material in that his ideas are his material actions inserted into material practices governed by material rituals which are themselves defined by the material ideological apparatus from which derive the ideas of that subject (92). Which is to say that, a subject s intellectual ideas are only manifested through the physical actions that are inherently rooted in the ideology. It is impossible to express thought without action, and it is impossible to act without ideology. Thus, ideology becomes not only the imaginary relationship to reality, but also the physicality of reality. Being both the idea of reality and the material manifestation of such, ideology then becomes indistinguishable from reality, leading to Althusser s use of both terms ... The meeting took place in a wealthy area in Berlin on a lake that was named Wannsee. The final solution to the jewish question was the focus of the meeting. The term final solution was the phrase used by the Nazi s for their plan for the extermination of all European Jews. This meeting was the first time that the government leaders not involved with the Nazi party were introduced to the plan for the Jews that the Nazi s had carefully developed. There was fifteen men that attended the Wannsee conference most of which were highly ranked Nazi officials and others were crucial government leaders in Germany that helped the Nazi s complete their plan. Among the agencies represented were the Department of Justice, the Foreign Ministry, the Gestapo, the SS, the Race and Resettlement Office, and the office in charge of distributing Jewish property. Also at the meeting was a representative of the General Government, the Polish occupation administration, whose territory included more than 2 million Jews. The head of Heydrich s office for Jewish affairs, Adolf Eichmann, prepared the conference notes. (Michael Berenbaum). All the men at the conference knew that their cooperation was essential for the plan to run smoothly. For all the men at the conference more than half of them received doctorate degrees from universities in Germany. The Nazi s didn t need to do much convincing of the non Nazi government leaders of letting them move the Jews east and putting them into concentration camps they knew that was going to happen. Photographer Techniques A good photographer knows how to use some little tricks to create a pretty scene, and the good photographer knows how to use small techniques to build the mood for the photo. Pretty scene and mood of the photo together create the meaning for the photo, and they allure people to step into the photo. Some of the techniques that used to make a photo looks pretty is the lighting of the photo, and the angle of that photo. And some tricks that are used to create a photo are models, sand, fake fog, etc. Photographer just needs a little bit of tricks to create a deep meaning of the photo. The first photo shows a mysterious wardrobe that stands in the middle of some nowhere desert. The wardrobe is surrounded by cloud and fog. The sky is not clear, and it does not present the sky blue color. Instead, the sky is cloudy and gloomy. It seems like some important but mysterious event is in prepare to happen. The wave of demonstrations, uprisings and revolutions in North Africa and the Middle East has presented the United States with a complex set of diplomatic problems. While a key component of U.S. foreign policy is promoting and supporting democracy, it is vital to U.S. interests that the Middle East remains relatively stable. A truly democratic Arab world is a new concept, and is one that has yet to show its true colors. The Egyptian Revolution, which began with protests on January 25, 2011 and lasted for 18 days, became a media sensation watched worldwide. Not only conventional media, but social media as well. Social media played an unprecedented and important role in Egypt, changing the face of revolutions forever. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Economic theory justifies natural monopolies on the basis that consumers can benefit from a monopoly so long as restrictions are put into place surrounding output and high prices of goods by the monopoly. Consumers benefit by being able to purchase a desired product at lower per unit costs. To provide an example of how natural monopolies are established most often would be surrounding public utilities, such as water, gas and electricity services. It makes more sense for the city or state to take on these responsibilities rather than having multiple firms in the market driving up price and providing lesser goods/services per firm. Economic theory supports monopoly in industries like public transportation and the postal service. Beginning in the late 1800s government began to enact four major pieces of legislation collectively known as the Antitrust Laws. The Sherman Act of 1890 is the founding legislation which states that any firm or individual operating in restraint of trade is committing an illegal act and secondly any person or firm attempting to monopolize or conspire has committed a felony. The first piece of legislation is the Clayton Act of 1914 which directly builds on the Sherman Act by specifying what specific acts are in restraint of trade and attempts at monopolization. As stated by Father Joseph Langford,M.C. in the Article Sacrifice written by Emily Stimpson, Holiness is living God s life, and God has told us that he is love not just any kind of love, how ever, but a love that is self emptying and self gift (Stimpson). Decisively, this quote points out to what sacrifice is. Passion and love are vital to human beings. Periodontitis Cigarette Smoking Cigarette smoking not only has a negative effect on respiratory and cardiovascular health, but also has been associated with diabetes, gastrointestinal and thyroid diseases, and almost every other organ system in the body (Johnson Guthmiller, 2007). Linked to various cancers, smoking is extremely detrimental (Johnson Guthmiller, 2007). Smoking is also the major risk factor for periodontitis (Preshaw et al, 2015). While increasing the prevalence of periodontitis, smoking also has a profound effect on the severity of periodontal disease in individuals (Preshaw et al, 2015). The third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) in 2000 found that 41.9% of periodontitis cases in the United States were attributable to current cigarette smoking (Tomar Asma, 2000). Smokers have a four times greater chance to be diagnosed with periodontitis (Johnson Guthmiller, 2007). Indeed, patients who are smokers also do not appear to respond as favourably to periodontal treatment and show a greater risk of refractory and/or recurrent periodontal disease (Fardal, 2008). Multiple studies show that smoking has the potential to alter numerous processes in the oral cavity (Preshaw et al, 2015). • 15. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pervaporation Observed first in 1919 by P.A. Kober, pervaporation, as the name delineates, incorporates permeation of a component into the involved membrane matrix and the successive evaporation of the permeated component into the vapour phase inside the membrane matrix. The vapour liquid interface is extant inside the membrane. The component from the liquid feed that permeates into the membrane vaporizes into its corresponding vapour state in situ and gets selectively permeated to the other side which depends on the difference between the transport rates of the components in the liquid feed. Generally, the feed or the upstream side is at atmospheric pressure, while the permeate or the downstream side is kept under vacuum so as to allow the selective evaporation of the target component after permeation through the membrane (der Bruggen et al., 2015). The driving force is the differences in partial pressures of the components on either side of the membrane. A thing of note: the volatility difference between the feed components does not play any role whatsoever in determining the selectivity of the components (Huang et al., 2008). The mechanism involved in pervaporation is the solution diffusion model. Pervaporation membranes can be classified depending on the material used for their construction i.e organic, inorganic and ... In other words, how well the body develops the vision and mission of their organization. I believe the significances of being the best is the team s approach to OD. some agencies fail to meet the demands of changes internally and externally. Business conditions do not remain the same year to year. Internal employee s needs and working conditions also change externally, the costumer s needs change from time to time too. The understanding of this and knowing how to develop one s organization to meet the change leads to a successful organization. The CEO, to succeed in developing the business, he must have employee involvement and commitment. In other words, engaged employees from top management to the team leaders. The entire workforce must be aware of the vision and mission of the organization and the changes that will get them there. The Shaman looks to the supernatural for his strength while the coyote relies on his own wits. The coyote is always looking for the short cut. Through meditation the Shaman is said to be able to fly. Chemistry Assessment Task Chemistry Assessment Task Tong Yi PART A C6H12O6  C3H4O3  C2H6O + CO2 Ethanol or as we know as alcohol in our beverages can be made from any fruit or vegetable that performs photosynthesis which produces glucose shown As required as the reactant of the previous equations. Balanced chemical equation for Photosynthesis: 6CO2 + 6H2O  C6H12O6 + 6O2 (light energy is used as a catalyst in this equation) Balanced chemical equation for the fermentation of glucose to ethanol: C6H12O6(aq)  2C2H5OH(l) + 2CO2(g) (yeast acts as a catalyst in this reaction.) As the diagram on the right displays, one molecule of Glucose produces two molecules of carbon dioxide and two molecules of ethanol. The fermentation of glucose to ethanol is only possible if oxygen is absent otherwise instead of producing ethanol and carbon dioxide, lactic acid is produced instead. The first part of the breakdown of glucose is known as Glycolysis, in which one molecule of glucose is broken down to two molecules of pyruvate (C3H4O3). Serebrier 9th Symphony A bit close to a decade ago, I confessed to a friend and fellow reviewer, Julian Grant, who graced these Amazon pages with his own informative and thought provoking reviews I took the pleasure in reading, of how dissatisfied I was in music programmes particularly in America s concert halls. I was ranting about how too little we were exposed to the great composers like Glazunov, Atterberg, Nielsen, Popov, Myaskovsky, and others and the need to rectify that in part by not overplaying the familiar Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Beethoven, et al. in these halls. But Julian Grant put the matter into perspective in reminding me that repeated listening is a complex ingredient in music appreciation. It is indeed a despondent, anguish work, written (in 1910 originally for piano) at the time in Russian history where violence and uncertainties abounded. Its bleak language is very much akin to that of his Two Prelude Improvisations (1918) for pianoforte where conditions were even more precarious. Truth to tell, I cannot think of a more striking, penetrating orchestral realization of the work s profound sense of melancholy and dreariness than Gavriil Yudin s. And Serebrier brings these attributes movingly, with the menacing flutes, prominent in the middle allegro moderato section, that are perfectly caught. Come to think of it, it would ve been interesting if Glazunov s dramatic overture The Song of Destiny is included here, for it too shows the composer s changing musical persona under the conditions he was in. But be that as it may, this album, extremely well recorded and reverberant, caps what is now the most absorbing, revelatory, thought provoking, satisfyingly searching Glazunov symphony cycle to date (and imagine that admirable sense of preparation and knowledge of these symphonies in the performances of them that took place in just four days June 2 5, 2009). And while some will take issue with Serebrier s essay where he uses the Bernstein/Mahler series as an example of how much of a revelation a series like this is (or how much it can be), I for one will not pose an ... In the scripture, it tells of Jesus and his disciples going into the temple, after coming into the city. There they find people trading and selling animals. Jesus reaction is unsettling to those who observed and leave them marveled at his teaching. Jesus then questioned the temple about their intentions of their hearts. He continued to ask, Is it not written, My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations ? (Mark 11:17, NRSV). When the priests heard of what had happened, they continued their search to find a way to kill him. After the uprising had settled, Jesus and his disciples left the city. Mark was written around 60 CE. At the time of the passage, the nation of Israel was suffering Gentiles. Because the audience was mostly Gentile, Mark had to take the words of Peter and translate meanings in a way the Gentiles would understand. • 42. Industrialization And New Immigration Essay Industrialization, Workers, and the New Immigration Immigrants coped with the conditions as they found them in America s brimming cities in two major ways. First, and less importantly, they often connected to the political machines that dominated cities in those days, around the 1890s. These machines eased the workload placed upon the immigrants and made the environment more suitable to thrive in; in return, the immigrants voted for the machinery. Some workers would look at the machinery and call them wonderful monsters, strong enough to lift mountains. Second, and more importantly, immigrants organized their own communities. Due to the physical conditions, language barriers, and psychological strains of moving to a new country, immigrants tended to group together with people of their home country. Small enclaves formed in many cities where everyone spoke their language and had similar customs. (QUOTE ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The immigrant men worked for a quarter (or less) of what the American factory men were paid, which could not comfortably support a family. One man claimed that he was merely paid $1.50 a day and his rent was $1.50 per week. An interview with a fellow immigrant left people speechless when he stated that he did not know when he and his wife last fed their children aside from a stolen loaf of bread. Poverty became popular and health seemed to be a problem with almost every one. Cholera and Typhus were among the few major diseases that caused many deaths. In the 1890 s, plumbing was nonexistent, so families would dump their litter and excrement among the streets. Vendors sold produce on these streets, thus contaminating the product with feces and disease.(QUOTE FROM ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Detrimental Effects of the Vietnam War The Vietnam War was, and continues to be, one of America s darkest moments, one that nearly tore the nation apart. In order to stop the spread of communism in Europe and Asia, the United States aided French imperialists and their reoccupation of Vietnam. At first, the U.S took a position of neutrality to both countries, but by early 1947, they began fighting in support of France. This war, lasting over 20 years, became the longest and most unpopular war in the 20th century. Overall, the Vietnam War was detrimental to the United States because it caused a massive debt from the 1960s to the 1990s, turned the American people against their government, and many troops were neglected and despised upon their return. They speculated that if one land in a region came under the influence of Communism, the surrounding countries would follow in a domino like effect . (Small) So basically, once one country turns to Communism, all the surrounding countries will follow until it has taken over completely. This theory was used by U.S administrators during the Cold War to clarify and justify the need for American intervention around the world. The idea had been in existence for quite some time, but it was only clear what it really was when President Dwight D. Eisenhower put it into words in 1954, when referring to communism. In order for Vietnam to be free of a Communist government, the United States decided to ally with France so the Vietminh could not gain more power. Since the Americans were fresh out of fighting the Korean and Chinese Civil War, they believed Communism could be spreading everywhere. Beginning in 1950, the United States initially pledged $15 million dollars in aid of the French. This was the start of an American debt that would damage the U.S economy for almost 30 years. The President of this time, Lyndon B. Johnson, played down the United States role in Vietnam for two reasons. He believed that if Americans felt that this war had to be fought in order to protect their country from Communism, the public would demand a full scale, no holds barred war that could have led to Chinese and Russian ... The major difference between sustainability and sustainable design is the ability of a designer to design a product to be classified as a sustainable design and which also complies with the rules that guide the environmental, economic and social impact of the product. If we are to deal effectively with the many contemporary issues of environmental degradation and social inequality of the resources and benefits of society, we are going to have to rethink our notions of our materialism culture, especially in the economically developed countries. The power to change the way we design, manufacture our products, recycle and market it falls on the designers. Potentially, designers can make a significant contribution to this undertake by developing possible solutions that challenge precedents and demonstrate alternative possibilities. But to achieve this according to Stuart walker we will need to change design education and design practice and develop new understandings of product aesthetics and our notions of what can be called a good design. • 51. The Rise Of Terrorist Groups During The Middle East Jason Wang Mrs. Ma 10 Acc. English 7 April 2015 The Rise of Terrorist Groups in the Middle East. The Middle East has been an area of conflict and religious extremism for the latter half of the twentieth century and it is expected to continue to be a region of conflict in the future. Why is it that terrorist groups constantly emerge and dominate for a period of time before steadily declining, only to be replaced by a different, equally or even more inhumane, splinter group? Saudi Arabian Wahhabism is a strain of fundamentalist Islam that has invaded and displaced traditionally moderate Islam and generates much of the conflict in the Middle East today. To combat and destroy future extremism and solve the problem permanently, the world and its inhabitants must deracinate this menace from its roots. Aside from religious fundamentalism, a large portion of the problem lies in the modern history of the Middle East. When the Ottoman Empire collapsed in 1920, combined British and French politicians, scholars, archaeologists, military officers and colonial administrators arbitrarily divided up the boundaries of the newly created nations in the Sykes Picot agreement. In effect, they created the first reason for much of the sectarian and ethnic conflict found in the Middle East. Regardless of intention, the British placed disparate tribes that had warred for centuries in the same country and divided ethnicities and culturally similar groups into different countries.
