Big Bad Wolf Quotes
I ll huff, and I ll puff, and I ll blow your house down! Yes, this is a quote from the Big Bad Wolf
himself. I m assuming you ve heard of Mr. Wolf, but if you haven t, well you re most likely living
under a rock. If you ever asked someone if they thought the Big Bad Wolf was a hero or villain, they d
definitely say a villain and I can discern why considering he s a raving beast who does anything to
satisfy his hunger, but I distinguish the situation a little bit different. In this essay I will explain to you
why the Big Bad Wolf is a hero through the morals behind three popular stories he characterizes in,
The Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Boy Who Cried Wolf.
Let s start off with a classic children s story called The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of the lessons he s taught us have helped us learn the consequences of things. People, including
parents, friends, guardians, or even strangers, can tell you to prepare, be careful, don t trust strangers,
and to tell the truth, but most of the time children, as well as teenagers, or adults, have to experience
the consequences of something before they can learn from it, or understand how dangerous it is. This
is why The Big Bad Wolf is a hero. This concludes my essay, hope you enjoyed. And remember, if

Analysis Of Rocket Boys By Homer Hadley Hickam Jr.
In the book Rocket Boys created by Homer Hadley Hickam Jr. John Hickam is a man that works in
the mine, and he is suffering injuries and revolutions against him. Also, he does not like his son
building rockets. John is said to be also insufficient to be the Coalwood mine leader. John also
believes that his older son will be more successful than his younger son since he is extremely great at
football. But that is not the way it sounds. John likes his whole family also internally. John Hickam is
a great man who is capable of working and handling a family. He is able to complete all tasks.
Although it may seem like John Hickam is not a good man because of his actions and thoughts, he is a
great person. As having the role of the mine leader many people have questioned his role. There was
even a rebellion that occurred to revolt against his role. He has accomplished many achievements for
his city and both his sons. It may look like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people have questioned him over if is he a good man and is he a man that can lead the mine. In
the story Mr. Dubonnet had come over to his home and started to argue on serious matters according
to him. As seen in the novel, it states, Although noticed it until it was too late, having Mr. Dubonnet
and my dad on opposite sides was a prescription for conflict (Hickam 163). It is possible to infer from
this that many people who go against Sonny s father are most likely on the opposite side and do not
agree with any of his principles. A lot of times he becomes into a lot trouble since he cannot do some
actions, but he keeps on moving on. Also stated in the novel, it states, The cable they were using to
pull out the loader snapped and hit him in the head... He ll probably lose his right eye tomorrow
(Hickam 629). Afterwards, some people did not feel like he was capable to work and stay up. He had
proven them wrong by still working in the mine and finding new

The Importance Of The Federal Budget
Government budgets no matter on the federal or local level are important because they give insight
into what the government s priorities are for that fiscal year. The current budget in Georgia for the
2017 fiscal year is 43.7 billion dollars. This number is broken down in three areas. The state s budget
is 23.7 billion. The federal budget for the year is 13.7 billion and the other funds they 6.3 billion. The
Great Recession caused a dramatic decrease in state revenues from the 2008 to 2010 fiscal years,
falling by $3.6 billion, or 19.2 percent. Revenues improved at a moderate pace since the 2011 fiscal
year and have picked up since 2014, yet inflation adjusted, per capita state revenue in 2017 is still
expected to fall short of pre recession ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Program budgeting is a system of managing government expenditures by attempting to compare the
program proposals of all government agencies authorized to achieve similar objectives (Hyman,
2014). Program budgeting allows decisions to be made regarding which programs will be offered, to
meet the missions, the lowest cost. Incremental budgeting is less drastic, the current fiscal year serves
as the basis for small incremental changes in the next fiscal year. Incremental budgeting is a pragmatic
approach that seeks to minimize the resources that go into the budgetary process each year and make it
easier for governments to enact budgets (Hymn 2014). Cost benefit analysis estimates and totals up
the equivalent money value of the benefits and costs to the community of projects to establish whether
they are worthwhile. These projects may be dams and highways or can be training programs and
health care systems. Externalities that cause market inefficiencies are either positive or negative.
Negative market inefficiencies will cause the people demand government policies and or procedures
to stop these effect such as pollution. Another impact of market inefficiencies could be lower wages,
which could result in more unemployment. Whether the impact in positive or negative the government
plays a role in it. If positive the government will offer an incentive for this product or service to
continue, if negative consequences can be enforced so that negative effects are

Simon Wiesenthal Thesis
Forgetting is something time alone takes care of, but forgiveness is an act of volition, and only the
sufferer is qualified to make the decision ( Quotes ). Simon Wiesenthal took a stand in history by
bringing to justice over 1,000 Nazi criminals after WWII ( About ). Although a silent protagonist, he
helped the world realize how the Holocaust impacted the millions of Jews in concentration camps. In
the short term, his efforts brought hundreds of war criminals to trial and served justice to those
involved in the violence of the Holocaust. While in the long term, his efforts brought global awareness
for the victims of the Holocaust. Simon Wiesenthal was born on December 31, 1908. The beginning of
his life consisted of the harsh realities of WWI. His father, a soldier in WWI, was killed while being
enlisted in the Austrian army, leaving Simon alone with his mother. He graduated from college in the
early 1930 s where he earned an architectural engineering degree. With the motivation towards
architecture, Simon set up a small business in Lviv, Ukraine. He later married Cyla Muller, his high
school sweetheart. After a few years, Simon, along with thousands of other Jews in Ukraine at the
time, were taken by the Soviet Union to a bedsprings factory to serve as workers. Russians began to
deport Jews from the factory to Serbia. Simon and Cyla were still together at the factory, so he was
determined not to leave her. The working conditions there were harsh, and many of his relatives were
killed because of them. The two worked at this factory for several years, until one day when they
received a notice from the Germans. They were both being sent to the German Eastern Railway plants,
the first of many concentration camps for Wiesenthal ( Simon Wiesenthal Biography ). Simon and
Cyla were to be executed by the Nazis within the concentration camp. His prayers seemed hopeless,
until his one of his friends, who worked within Ukrainian Auxiliary Police, saved his life. He helped
him to escape execution by the Nazis at this camp. This, however, did not stop him from being sent to
a different camp. Simon was then immediately sent to the Janowska concentration camp along with
his wife where he was forced to

Irish Famine
The Irish famine of 1845 1852 killed 1.1 million people and over 1 million emigrated, in 1841 the
population of Ireland was 8.2 million but in 1951 it had plummeted down to 6.5 million people. The
famine caused mass starvation and disease within Ireland, it started when fog that contained
Phytophthora infestans (Potato late blight fungus) began to settle onto potato plants turning them
black and letting off a sickening odour. The potatoes under the ground looked edible but they too
rotted away. One month after the potato blight began in Ireland wind had carried the potato blight
spores all the way to London. When this happened the British Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel quickly
founded a Scientific research team to investigate the potato blight, the research team quickly identified
it as wet rot . However the people of Ireland formed their own ideas to why this happened, Catholics

Imagery In The Perils Of Indifference By Elie Wiesel
Holocaust survivor and writer, Elie Wiesel in his influential speech The Perils of Indifference, claims
that indifference is the root of all evil and inhumanity all pain and all tragedy has resulted because of
indifference. He supports his claim by highlighting the reason for World Wars, Civil Wars,
Assassinations, Bloodbaths, and Tragedy indifference (Wiesel par. 5) . Specifically, Wiesel uses
imagery to paint an image of what the innocent victims of indifference experience. The poor children
[that] perish because of the indifference in a man s soul; until they see the children s pain and agony
and hear their pleas, until one of them dies because of the violence, disease and famine, then one will
notice the dangers of indifference (Wiesel par. 23) . Further, the author flashbacks to past events that
have left humans without a soul. He mentions how one day he woke up in a place of eternal infamy,
Buchenwald. Remembering the day he is captured and the day he is free[ed] (Wiesel par. 1) . The
problem now is that there [i]s no joy in his heart; he becomes a victim of indifference the metal torture
(Wiesel par. 1) . Wiesel s purpose is to inform humanity of the dangers indifference holds in order to
encourage humans to continue to hope for a world without indifference no pain, no horror. He
establishes a critical tone for readers by using stylistic devices such as imagery, flashbacks and
rhetorical questions in order to achieve his purpose that indifference is monstrous and dangerous.
Wiesel s message about the inhumanity of indifference and the importance of resistance is still
relevant today.
1999 marks the year Elie Wiesel presents the White House with his speech The Perils of Indifference.
He argues that to be indifferent is to be inhumane (Wiesel par 11) . Four years later genocide in Darfur
occurs; the first genocide of the 21st century (Darfur Genocide) . This genocide claims the lives of at
least 300,000 innocent people and displaced 3 million more people (Darfur Genocide) . Meanwhile,
according to Sudan Backgrounder, With the international community focused on resolving the

Institute of Technology, Roorkee 247667, India
HIGHLIGHTS
ABSTRACT
Structural defects which are inevitable during the production, chemical and heat treatment processes
can affect the mechanical properties of graphene and also defects can be deliberately introduced in
graphene by ion beam irradiation to get required properties for specific applications. So,
understanding the effect of defects on mechanical properties and failure behaviours of a graphene
sheet is important for its applications. In this work, the effects of linear and angular orientation of
different types of Stone Thrower Wales (STW 1 and STW 2) defects on the mechanical properties and
failure behaviour of graphene membrane have been investigated in the frame of molecular dynamics.
This work discussing about tuneable mechanical properties by amending the linear orientation of STW
1 and STW 2 defects at different angles in zigzag direction and armchair direction respectively. The
results obtained from the present work may provide the insights in tailoring the mechanical properties
by preparing defects in graphene, and give a full picture for the applications of graphene with defects
in flexible electronics and nanodevices.

The Effects Of Muscular Dysmorphia On Adolescents
Muscular Dysmorphia in Adolescents Body image disorders which can be very serious severe
conditions are often considered to mostly affect women, men, however can also suffer from Body
image issues. In men, a body image disorder typically presents itself as Muscular Dysmorphia. Men
who are suffering from Muscular Dysmorphia often resort to hazardous ways to gain more muscle,
such as over exercising unhealthy amounts and steroids. Treatment for Muscular Dysmorphia
frequently includes prescription anti depressants. While effective, prescription drugs create a dilemma
for a high school guidance counselor who may face ethical barriers in recommending a potentially
harmful medication to minors. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (or CBT), has shown promise as an
effective non pharmaceutical treatment for body image disorders, and has been used in the school
setting for years. Case Review In Case #5, a guidance counselor in an urban school is concerned some
of the boys may be having a body image issue. They work out excessively, take expensive
supplements and are overly concerned with nutrition. Most importantly, the muscle building regimen
these boys are following seem to be interfering with their both school and personal lives. The
counselor is worried for the boys mental well being as well as their physical health. Especially with
one boy in particular who seems to be engaging in illegal use of anabolic steroids. Muscle
Dysmorphia is a type of Body Dysmorphic Disorder that is

Fallacies And Women
Social media and advertisements continues to shape the bodies of girls and women. They are targeted
through all aspects of their lives when they are viewing advertisements, television, and body care
products. So if unchecked or unchanged, it is likely that current and future females will continue to
have a lack of self confidence, self esteem, and wont define their own image. Teens that range from
four to nineteen, are influenced by the images of Barbie s and the television show Toddlers and Tiaras.
Eighty percent of these teen girls are dissatisfied with their image. Woman that are twenty or older
also view different media that sway their images through the show Kardashians, Victoria Secret, and
the beauty line Dove. Therefore, all forms of media need to change how they portray females. This
way, women have a chance to be proud of who they truly are and can live to express themselves. Girls
and women will seem guilty when they do not see the model figure when they look in the mirror. This
is not how society should be in the United States. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fallacies are interesting ways of viewing or arguing an argument. Making our argument stronger and
more logical we used three fallacies, the fallacies found throughout this research was genetic fallacies,
hasty generalization, and appeal to authority. It shows a genetic fallacy by having African American
women rarely seen in advertisements, unless they are portrayed as animals or in an African setting.
Hasty generalization is shown through Victoria Secret commercials and advertisements. They show
that every women wants to be the size of their models. The average model weights twenty three
percent less than the healthy women. Every women wants to look like a Victoria Secret model but it is
unrealistic. Appeal to authority is shown through the product claims to make you more appealing by

The customisation features mentioned above are only the beginning of the personalisation movement,
as user monitoring technologies continue to progress, websites will have much greater access to
information and be able to use this information in more productive ways. One example is Digital
Rights Management (DRM) which was initially developed to prevent copyright infringement,
however more advanced forms of DRM can now be used to gather digital media usage data which is
used to develop preference profiles and implement price discrimination (Inderscience, November
2008). The information gathered via such new technologies would allow websites to develop adverts
that are designed to appeal to each individual consumer and promote products and services the
customer has the greatest interest in. Looking further into the future, websites may be able to work
together to produce and share individual user profiles which contain personal details and information
on preferences that could be used for marketing, or possibly creating universal user logins which give
access to all participating websites.
Although there is strong evidence to suggest that personalisation can greatly improve the appeal of a
website, restraints would still need to be used when setting the level of customisability as too much
can be detrimental to the website by making the experience confusing and feel intrusive (Fung, T.
Dec. 2008).

Relations Between Iran and US Essay
In 1979, protests erupted across the nation against the government of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi.
This was triggered by the domination of foreign policy, the exploitation of Iran s resources and wealth
by foreign firms, corruption and oppressive regime. The Shah s government s close ties with the
United States and Israel, his oppressive methods and his program of Westernization were unpopular
with the Iranian people. They therefore turned to the ulama as an alternative. Ayatollah Ruhollah
Khomeini, in exile in Paris, distributed cassette tapes of his speeches to many of the partakers in the
protests. The protests were eventually included under the umbrella of Shiite Islam. The Shah was
eventually overthrown and sent to exile. Ayatollah ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The politicization of the concepts of Shi ism was first presented by Ayatollah Khomeini s concept of
velayat e faqih (the governance of jurisprudence). According to this concept, the Supreme Leader (vali
e faqih) is the legal leader of the Islamic community and, thus, he is equal to the imam. The velayat e
faqih has been the main principle of the Islamic Republic of Iran s political structure since the
revolution.
This Shiite component is a very important element of foreign policy as it is what forms Iranian
identity, along with Iranian nationalism. Shi ism is very different from Sunni Islam. It is infinitely
more religious and plays a much larger role in people s daily lives. It is because of this that even the
most secular of the political groups that partook in the revolution were still very much religious. After
the coup staged by the CIA against Mossadeq, who attempted to nationalize the oil industry, the
United States became highly unpopular with the Iranian people and was viewed as a counterforce to
Iranian nationalism. This strongly Shiite identity is also why the referendum resulted in the
establishment of an Islamic Republic. It is also important as it set one of Iran s major foreign policy
goals and has been a driving force for many of its strategic decisions in the region. Following the
establishment of the Islamic Republic, Iran severed ties with Israel, a far cry from what relations had
been like, and even ceased to recognize it as an

Bessie Vanburen Research Paper
Strolling through the woods one day with my husband we stumbled across a head stone for the late
Mrs. Bessie Vanburen, age 19, beloved wife and mother, died July 11th 1835. Our minds started to

Vanburen was born in July 1816 to Mary and David Windburn. She grew up in the small town of
Mcbee, South Carolina, where Bessie s father was a poor dirt farmer, and her mother an underpaid
seamstress. Bessie attended school in her small town, and as she approached her sixteenth birthday, a
new teacher came to town. James Vanburen was a young attractive man. The two soon became smitten
with each other. A few months went by James decided to ask Bessie for a date. Their relationship was

17 Bessie became Mrs. Bessie Vanburen. Bessie and James moved around a lot, because he was a
school teacher. The two lived in Camden South Carolina for a few short months. Here the young
couple learned Bessie was pregnant and both were very happy, but Bessie wanted to be closer to her

According to figures from BBC News, over 1.7 million people tuned in to watch the opera. The report
continues to state that there were 317 phone calls made to the BBC since the transmission and a mass
of them were very supportive. [3] However, there was an overall high figure of 63,000 complaints
about the opera and it became the most criticised television programme ever. [4] (Inglis, Media Ethics.
2014 pers. comm., 8th December) Despite the number of complaints, the BBC defended their decision
on broadcasting the opera through a corporation spokesman. The spokesman said that the BBC
conformed to their choice of televising the contentious opera and that it endures to be shown to
congested audiences in London s theatres. [5] This statement shows that there were people interested
in the opera by the time the BBC broadcasted it. The spokesman continues by saying that the
corporation were proud to see that a broad range of crowds were able to witness a vital modern
musical work. [6] (Created with Microsoft Works Spreadsheet.) BBC News. 2005. Springer opera

This Lime-Tree Bower My Prison Essay
Samuel Taylor Coleridge once asserted that poetry is the blossom and the fragrance of all human
knowledge, human thoughts, human passions, emotions, language
Coleridge s view of poetry epitomises the value poetry has for our modern society. Poetry conveys
complex, relevant issues through different styles of poetry. Coleridge was a prominent member of the
Romanticism movement of the nineteenth century.
The Romanticism movement emphasised the individual s experience and the healing power of nature.
Some key features of Romanticism were idealism and focus on emotional passions. Romantic poets
created imaginative atmospheres and believed that nature and humanity were interconnected.

This is especially evident in Coleridge and Cummings poems; This Lime Tree Bower My Prison and
anyone lived in a pretty how town , respectively. These poems epitomise the different feelings of love,
resentment, selfishness and happiness.
The conversational style of This Lime Tree Bower My Prison creates a connection between the reader
and the poet. Coleridge uses a lime tree as a metaphor for prison, illustrating how everyday objects
can have different meanings. He exaggerates his feelings as he says Friends, whom I may never see
again! (Coleridge 1797). Nature is connected to his feelings of joy as he says and happiness,
highlighting the effect of nature on humanity.
Cummings defies grammatical norms which furthers his poem s message of American life. He
represents social norms as he says someones married their everyones (Cummings 1940). The common
fear of being forgotten is portrayed in a nonchalant way as the speaker says i guess anyone died one
day (Cummings 1940). He uses parentheses to indicate shifts in tone and he doesn t follow the rules of
grammar. This makes the poem attractive to the reader and influences their style of poetry. Cummings
techniques encompass Romanticism and common feelings of

Elizabethan Rapier
I m going to compare the different characteristics and usage of rapier and dagger in The Three
Musketeers and The Man in the Iron Mask. Rapier and dagger play was very prevalent on the
continent and in England during the Elizabethan period. The standard configuration for a duel was
rapier and dagger. It was common for every gentlemen to carry a dagger and some carried a rapier at
that time (Wilson). According to the material, rapier is held in dominant hand for attacking while
dagger is used in the other hand for defending. With the combination of the two weapons, the
combating effect will attain a better level. Similarly, both of the stories took place in France of the

Who Is The Ford Mustang Commercial
Because of my love for the Ford Mustang, I chose a Ford Mustang commercial for this assignment.
The commercials premise is unsuspecting men meet a beautiful woman in a coffee shop for a blind
date, the woman purposely projects a non adventurous persona. At the conclusion of the coffee date,
the woman offers to give them a ride home in her Ford Mustang. Initially during the drive home the
woman pretends she is not familiar with driving the car, most of the men offer her instructions and one
suggests that she let him drive to show her what the car can really do. Shortly into the drive home, she
pulls into an empty parking lot and really pushes the car to the limits. She performs a multitude of
highly skilled maneuvers, burnouts, high speed stopping, drifting, etc. What all of these men did not
know is this woman is actually a professional stunt driver and is more than capable of driving this
powerful vehicle. The men s reactions were hilarious. Most of them seemed to enjoy the adrenaline
fueled ride, while others looked horrified sitting in the passenger seat. Being a bit of an adrenaline
junky myself, I really enjoyed this advertisement. I could feel my adrenaline rising as she was
performing all those high speed maneuvers. The advertisement was also very ... Show more content on

audience. Even if the audience were not interested in the Ford Mustang, they would watch this to see

Review Of James Fenimore Cooper s The Last Of The Mohicans
Portrayed in the midst of the French and Indian war, The Last of the Mohicans, by James Fenimore
Cooper, focuses on life in the frontier and the violent clashes the French and Native Americans
experience with the English during the French and Indian war. Hawkeye, a white hunter who
identified closely to the Native Americans, becomes entangled in the grotesques battles happening in
the French and Indian war in order to save the lives of two women. Although written seventy five
years past the prime of the events happening in the novel, Cooper implements and manipulates factual
events in history to provide a subtle idea of the conflicts that happened in the French and Indian War.
France and Great Britain went to war during 1754 due to the increased tension of territorial expansion.
It is true that Major General Webb abandoned fort William Henry and appointed Lieutenant Munro
who was unprepared for the anticipated French attack. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Function Of Gun Control
The function of guns in society is a very controversial topic that has long been debated. There are
those who believe that guns have no purpose in the hands of private citizens and civilians. Whereas,
others believe that guns are the very foundation that protects American s rights and liberties stated in
the Constitution. Under the second amendment that was ratified in the Supreme Court s ruling in
1791, Americans have the right to bear arms at the level of an individual, not just the well regulated
militia. For the vast majority of Americans, the central issue associated with gun control is the upshot
of crime, which rolls over onto public health. Americans are twenty times more likely to be killed by a
gun than any other developed nation on Earth. It is a sobering fact that today, there have been more
American deaths by guns than American deaths caused by wars dating by to the American Revolution.
Gun control advocates believe that having stricter gun control laws will make guns less accessible and
more difficult to gain possession of by people who should not have them such as criminals or the
mentally ill. They reason that this will cause a decrease in the number of deaths. Gun ownership
proponents argue that the creation of such laws would interfere with American citizens rights to bear
arms (for self protection against crimes and unjust government.) Following these laws would also
create other issues such as law abiding citizens being prey to criminals due to their

Winter Fog Causes And Disadvantages
During the cold winter of Delhi, the 5 year olds smokes on an average 2 packs of cigarettes per day.
This smoking problem is not confined to 5 year olds, but every Delhiite who is exposed to the
hazardous winter fog endures a damage equivalent to 2 packs of cigarettes. Delayed flights and trains,
school closures, black outs, accidents on highways has become a norm during winter in the past 20
years. Apart from the economical losses, a major health impact in the form of a decrease in lung
function and acute respiratory diseases is affecting the 18.6 million citizens of Delhi. Recently, the
Delhi government had declared a public health emergency owing to the poor air quality, which
features often in very poor and severe category, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI) consistently
during these winters. The presence of fine particles, indicated by PM 10 and PM 2.5 in AQI,
contributes to the poor quality of the air and is the major cause for fogs. Sources of these fine particles
vary from the emissions from industrial and automobile emissions to the sand particles transported by
global winds. 2 Origins of the winter fog The beginning of winter in Northern India, marked by the
largest festival known as Diwali, is the end of the rice harvesting season. The residue stubble on the
fields at the end of the rice harvesting season doesn t hold any economic value, hence the farmers
resort to burning of 70 80 million tonnes of the stubble. Similarly as the temperatures approach
freezing temperatures, the general public rely more on bio mass burning for heating, warmth and
cooking purposes. Further, the industrial complexes draw more thermally generated electric power and
hence leading to an increase of coal emissions. These aerosols from outside the city gets transported
and adds into the fine particle sizes from the automobile emissions and road dust generated within the
city. And the fine particles serve as sites of condensation, forming misty droplets that doesn t settle.
2A 2020 vision for Delhi Subin Thomas Apart from the sites for condensation, the conditions for the
formation of fog are abundant supply of moisture and the increase of temperature with height. Both of

The Formation of Arab Nations
The Formation of Arab Nations Much of the modern political Arab world was born at the end of
World War I, as outside powers divided up their shares of territories that were loyal to their regimes.
For example, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon came to exist along side the precarious state of
Palestine. By World War II, these states had begun to want independence, and the following decades
would witness revolution, regime change, violence, and, ultimately, a break from the grips of the
Ottoman Empire and European powers (Provence). Today, the so called Arab Spring uprisings,
ongoing now for several years, are in part as a result of mid 20th century political rule and
administration by outside powers. In the early 20th century, the ... Show more content on

Perhaps more importantly, Jordan s newest residents were Palestinians who potentially had no interest

Jordan continues to serve as the place of escape for Arabs fleeing unstable places. Refugees from Iraq,
Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and occasionally Egypt, live in Jordan. After the 2003 invasion of Iraq
Jordan took about 100,000 Iraqis seeking temporary escape from the war in their country (IRIN).
Jordan is a strong US ally and they were the second Arab state to sign a peace treaty with Israel after
Egypt. This is an enormously contentious issue in Jordan where about half the residents are
Palestinians who left their country between 1948 and 1967 (Anderson). When Jordan s King Hussein
signed the peace treaty it was a risky move. Jordan has no oil reserves, and the population tends to be
pretty poor. Some Jordanians saw the treaty as an indication of further instability rather than
development. Promises of US aid money and support helped prompt the deal, but Jordanians
understand this agreement means that the US is required to continue support Jordan indefinitely
(Anderson).
Other Arab countries experienced upheaval as well. Iraq, for example, has political boundaries that

The Harm In Hate Speech Analysis
Jeremy Waldron argues in favor of hate speech restrictions in his book The Harm in Hate Speech . He
presents the central argument that vulnerable minorities are in need of hate speech regulation to
protect them from harm. Another argument he presents is that such regulation must be a content based
regulation, as opposed to a time, place, and manner restriction that is usually employed to prevent
certain kinds of speech. A final argument he uses is that speech is the harmful action, rather than
speech simply causing harmful actions. I do not find his arguments to be compelling enough reasons
to support restricting free speech with hate speech laws.
Waldron s central argument is that vulnerable minorities need and deserve government ... Show more

He believes that since hate speech legislation is seen as acceptable and necessary in most developed
nations that it is therefore the principles are also applicable to the United States. He openly admits that
he does not accept any assumptions that make up free speech jurisprudence, because they are contrary
to his views on how society needs to address hateful speech. The assumptions he rejects include the
tendency for truth to prevail in the marketplace of ideas, the effectiveness of counter speech, and that
content based restrictions are bad.
However, these ideas cannot be simply dismissed because they are central to the American perspective
on the necessity of hate speech legislation. Waldron fails to address in an effective way why he is able
to dismiss these central ideas. In doing so, he is practically admitting to the reader that his ideas are
based outside of the framework of the reality of American free speech tradition. The strength of his
argument suffers from the fact that his argument is not applicable to the reality of American society s
views on free speech.
Waldron also argues that the harms caused by hate speech are constituted by speech, rather than
merely caused by speech (166). He believes that the element that damages the dignity and assurance
of vulnerable minorities is the speech itself, not actions that they speech promotes or the way that it is

The Four Noble Truth Vs. The Eightfold Path
The Four Noble Truths are Buddha s reflections about life and they define what is suffering (dukkha)
and how to overcome suffering. The first noble truth is that no living being can escape suffering
(Eastern Traditions, p.200). This suffering can be emotional or physical. Buddha wants to emphasize
that life does not always meet our expectations and this will lead to suffering. People will still be
suffering even if there is not an external source, like a disease, because they will feel unfulfilled. The
second Noble Truth addresses that suffering comes from a person s desires (Eastern Traditions, p.200).
People may be able to satisfy their desires but this is only temporary solution to suffering. The third
Noble truth is that person can end their suffering if they cease their desires (Eastern Traditions, p.200).
The possibility of liberation can happen if the person extinguishes his or her desires instead of
temporarily satisfying them. The fourth Noble Truth explains that following the Eightfold path is the
way to put an end to suffering (Eastern Traditions, p.200). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

thoughts of non violence and love to all creatures, which will lead to selfless detachment
(Dhammapada, p.38 75). The next stage is to have the right speech. The right speech means that a

Examples Of Mortality In The Iliad
Mortality In The Iliad: The Trancience Of Human Life And Its Creations
Mortality is the state of being subject to death, and, as we all know and can only accept, we are all
mortal, and so is our material world. Everything that has a beginning has an end. We are the same as
the men of Troy and Achaea in the sense that we re all bound to die; our glass houses and skyscrapers
now are just as subject to destruction as their ruined walls and buried cities. Death is inevitable, just
like change is. Even though sometimes, such as when one is young and wild or when one is simply
very well off and comfortable, we feel invincible and unsusceptible to death, we are. We are
impermanent and we will be forgotten that is, unless we make sure that we live to be remembered. The
Iliad begins in medias res, during the tenth year of the Trojan War, and as a story whose plot revolves
around what this war brought upon the mortals who fought in it; the Iliad bares and ... Show more

Homer s Iliad thus illustrates and emphasizes the transience of human life and the material world, and
tries to address the question of whether immortality is, indeed, attainable. Homer seems to tell us
through his poem that there is no way to escape death, and that the only way for any mortal to be
immortalized is through the memory of mankind. The physical bodies of all mortals and their
creations will fade from that memory, so what is it that man must do to gain this kind of immortality
that we ve been allowed to attain? Homer suggests that we should live our lives as gloriously and
honorably as we can, and perhaps our words and deeds will survive us. The Iliad might as well be
proof that his suggestion

The Legend About The Vampires And Their Secret Life
The legend about the vampires and their secret life is one that keeps on frightening and
captivate the audience around the world. The thought of an undead night stalker that nourishes
on human blood has been around for quite a long time and perseveres right up till modern days.
The image of the immortal creature has perfectly fitted into the modern popular culture. Various
nations and societies over the globe have individual deviations of a comparative folkloric
substance. Regardless of the variety, all vampire stories have a key shared characteristic the
desire for human blood and immortality. It was not until the late XIX century that an Irish writer
agreed an expansiveness of learning on such folkloric stories and devised the character that now
goes about as the format for the vampire myth. Bram Stoker s Dracula was initially distributed in
1897 and starting now and into the foreseeable future the author s title character set the point of
reference for every single anecdotal vampire. Vampire fiction, in any case, keeps on developing
and enrapture in spite of the way that it draws from a limitless folkloric and scholarly past.
Humankind has dependably been intrigued with the charm of immortality and albeit initially
vampires were not an image of this, as time passed and society changed so did the thoughts and
discernments encompassing them.

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people have questioned him over if is he a good man and is he a man that can lead the mine. In the story Mr. Dubonnet had come over to his home and started to argue on serious matters according to him. As seen in the novel, it states, Although noticed it until it was too late, having Mr. Dubonnet and my dad on opposite sides was a prescription for conflict (Hickam 163). It is possible to infer from this that many people who go against Sonny s father are most likely on the opposite side and do not agree with any of his principles. A lot of times he becomes into a lot trouble since he cannot do some actions, but he keeps on moving on. Also stated in the novel, it states, The cable they were using to pull out the loader snapped and hit him in the head... He ll probably lose his right eye tomorrow (Hickam 629). • 5. Simon Wiesenthal Thesis Forgetting is something time alone takes care of, but forgiveness is an act of volition, and only the sufferer is qualified to make the decision ( Quotes ). Simon Wiesenthal took a stand in history by bringing to justice over 1,000 Nazi criminals after WWII ( About ). Although a silent protagonist, he helped the world realize how the Holocaust impacted the millions of Jews in concentration camps. In the short term, his efforts brought hundreds of war criminals to trial and served justice to those involved in the violence of the Holocaust. While in the long term, his efforts brought global awareness for the victims of the Holocaust. Simon Wiesenthal was born on December 31, 1908. The beginning of his life consisted of the harsh realities of WWI. His father, a soldier in WWI, was killed while being enlisted in the Austrian army, leaving Simon alone with his mother. He graduated from college in the early 1930 s where he earned an architectural engineering degree. With the motivation towards architecture, Simon set up a small business in Lviv, Ukraine. He later married Cyla Muller, his high school sweetheart. After a few years, Simon, along with thousands of other Jews in Ukraine at the time, were taken by the Soviet Union to a bedsprings factory to serve as workers. Russians began to deport Jews from the factory to Serbia. Simon and Cyla were still together at the factory, so he was determined not to leave her. The working conditions there were harsh, and many of his relatives were killed because of them. The two worked at this factory for several years, until one day when they received a notice from the Germans. They were both being sent to the German Eastern Railway plants, the first of many concentration camps for Wiesenthal ( Simon Wiesenthal Biography ). Simon and Cyla were to be executed by the Nazis within the concentration camp. His prayers seemed hopeless, until his one of his friends, who worked within Ukrainian Auxiliary Police, saved his life. He helped him to escape execution by the Nazis at this camp. This, however, did not stop him from being sent to a different camp. Simon was then immediately sent to the Janowska concentration camp along with his wife where he was forced to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Imagery In The Perils Of Indifference By Elie Wiesel Holocaust survivor and writer, Elie Wiesel in his influential speech The Perils of Indifference, claims that indifference is the root of all evil and inhumanity all pain and all tragedy has resulted because of indifference. He supports his claim by highlighting the reason for World Wars, Civil Wars, Assassinations, Bloodbaths, and Tragedy indifference (Wiesel par. 5) . Specifically, Wiesel uses imagery to paint an image of what the innocent victims of indifference experience. The poor children [that] perish because of the indifference in a man s soul; until they see the children s pain and agony and hear their pleas, until one of them dies because of the violence, disease and famine, then one will notice the dangers of indifference (Wiesel par. 23) . Further, the author flashbacks to past events that have left humans without a soul. He mentions how one day he woke up in a place of eternal infamy, Buchenwald. Remembering the day he is captured and the day he is free[ed] (Wiesel par. 1) . The problem now is that there [i]s no joy in his heart; he becomes a victim of indifference the metal torture (Wiesel par. 1) . Wiesel s purpose is to inform humanity of the dangers indifference holds in order to encourage humans to continue to hope for a world without indifference no pain, no horror. He establishes a critical tone for readers by using stylistic devices such as imagery, flashbacks and rhetorical questions in order to achieve his purpose that indifference is monstrous and dangerous. Wiesel s message about the inhumanity of indifference and the importance of resistance is still relevant today. 1999 marks the year Elie Wiesel presents the White House with his speech The Perils of Indifference. He argues that to be indifferent is to be inhumane (Wiesel par 11) . Four years later genocide in Darfur occurs; the first genocide of the 21st century (Darfur Genocide) . This genocide claims the lives of at least 300,000 innocent people and displaced 3 million more people (Darfur Genocide) . Rajasekaran and Avinash Parashar Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee 247667, India HIGHLIGHTS ABSTRACT Structural defects which are inevitable during the production, chemical and heat treatment processes can affect the mechanical properties of graphene and also defects can be deliberately introduced in graphene by ion beam irradiation to get required properties for specific applications. So, understanding the effect of defects on mechanical properties and failure behaviours of a graphene sheet is important for its applications. In this work, the effects of linear and angular orientation of different types of Stone Thrower Wales (STW 1 and STW 2) defects on the mechanical properties and failure behaviour of graphene membrane have been investigated in the frame of molecular dynamics. This work discussing about tuneable mechanical properties by amending the linear orientation of STW 1 and STW 2 defects at different angles in zigzag direction and armchair direction respectively. The results obtained from the present work may provide the insights in tailoring the mechanical properties by preparing defects in graphene, and give a full picture for the applications of graphene with defects in flexible electronics and nanodevices. The information gathered via such new technologies would allow websites to develop adverts that are designed to appeal to each individual consumer and promote products and services the customer has the greatest interest in. Looking further into the future, websites may be able to work together to produce and share individual user profiles which contain personal details and information on preferences that could be used for marketing, or possibly creating universal user logins which give access to all participating websites. Although there is strong evidence to suggest that personalisation can greatly improve the appeal of a website, restraints would still need to be used when setting the level of customisability as too much can be detrimental to the website by making the experience confusing and feel intrusive (Fung, T. The politicization of the concepts of Shi ism was first presented by Ayatollah Khomeini s concept of velayat e faqih (the governance of jurisprudence). According to this concept, the Supreme Leader (vali e faqih) is the legal leader of the Islamic community and, thus, he is equal to the imam. The velayat e faqih has been the main principle of the Islamic Republic of Iran s political structure since the revolution. This Shiite component is a very important element of foreign policy as it is what forms Iranian identity, along with Iranian nationalism. Shi ism is very different from Sunni Islam. It is infinitely more religious and plays a much larger role in people s daily lives. It is because of this that even the most secular of the political groups that partook in the revolution were still very much religious. After the coup staged by the CIA against Mossadeq, who attempted to nationalize the oil industry, the United States became highly unpopular with the Iranian people and was viewed as a counterforce to Iranian nationalism. This strongly Shiite identity is also why the referendum resulted in the establishment of an Islamic Republic. It is also important as it set one of Iran s major foreign policy goals and has been a driving force for many of its strategic decisions in the region. Following the establishment of the Islamic Republic, Iran severed ties with Israel, a far cry from what relations had been like, and even ceased to recognize it as an ... • 28. Review Of James Fenimore Cooper s The Last Of The Mohicans Portrayed in the midst of the French and Indian war, The Last of the Mohicans, by James Fenimore Cooper, focuses on life in the frontier and the violent clashes the French and Native Americans experience with the English during the French and Indian war. Hawkeye, a white hunter who identified closely to the Native Americans, becomes entangled in the grotesques battles happening in the French and Indian war in order to save the lives of two women. Although written seventy five years past the prime of the events happening in the novel, Cooper implements and manipulates factual events in history to provide a subtle idea of the conflicts that happened in the French and Indian War. France and Great Britain went to war during 1754 due to the increased tension of territorial expansion. It is true that Major General Webb abandoned fort William Henry and appointed Lieutenant Munro who was unprepared for the anticipated French attack. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 29. The Function Of Gun Control The function of guns in society is a very controversial topic that has long been debated. There are those who believe that guns have no purpose in the hands of private citizens and civilians. Whereas, others believe that guns are the very foundation that protects American s rights and liberties stated in the Constitution. Under the second amendment that was ratified in the Supreme Court s ruling in 1791, Americans have the right to bear arms at the level of an individual, not just the well regulated militia. For the vast majority of Americans, the central issue associated with gun control is the upshot of crime, which rolls over onto public health. Americans are twenty times more likely to be killed by a gun than any other developed nation on Earth. It is a sobering fact that today, there have been more American deaths by guns than American deaths caused by wars dating by to the American Revolution. Gun control advocates believe that having stricter gun control laws will make guns less accessible and more difficult to gain possession of by people who should not have them such as criminals or the mentally ill. They reason that this will cause a decrease in the number of deaths. Gun ownership proponents argue that the creation of such laws would interfere with American citizens rights to bear arms (for self protection against crimes and unjust government.) Following these laws would also create other issues such as law abiding citizens being prey to criminals due to their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Winter Fog Causes And Disadvantages During the cold winter of Delhi, the 5 year olds smokes on an average 2 packs of cigarettes per day. This smoking problem is not confined to 5 year olds, but every Delhiite who is exposed to the hazardous winter fog endures a damage equivalent to 2 packs of cigarettes. Delayed flights and trains, school closures, black outs, accidents on highways has become a norm during winter in the past 20 years. Apart from the economical losses, a major health impact in the form of a decrease in lung function and acute respiratory diseases is affecting the 18.6 million citizens of Delhi. Recently, the Delhi government had declared a public health emergency owing to the poor air quality, which features often in very poor and severe category, according to the Air Quality Index (AQI) consistently during these winters. The presence of fine particles, indicated by PM 10 and PM 2.5 in AQI, contributes to the poor quality of the air and is the major cause for fogs. Sources of these fine particles vary from the emissions from industrial and automobile emissions to the sand particles transported by global winds. 2 Origins of the winter fog The beginning of winter in Northern India, marked by the largest festival known as Diwali, is the end of the rice harvesting season. The residue stubble on the fields at the end of the rice harvesting season doesn t hold any economic value, hence the farmers resort to burning of 70 80 million tonnes of the stubble. Similarly as the temperatures approach freezing temperatures, the general public rely more on bio mass burning for heating, warmth and cooking purposes. Further, the industrial complexes draw more thermally generated electric power and hence leading to an increase of coal emissions. These aerosols from outside the city gets transported and adds into the fine particle sizes from the automobile emissions and road dust generated within the city. And the fine particles serve as sites of condensation, forming misty droplets that doesn t settle. 2A 2020 vision for Delhi Subin Thomas Apart from the sites for condensation, the conditions for the formation of fog are abundant supply of moisture and the increase of temperature with height. • 31. The Formation of Arab Nations The Formation of Arab Nations Much of the modern political Arab world was born at the end of World War I, as outside powers divided up their shares of territories that were loyal to their regimes. For example, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon came to exist along side the precarious state of Palestine. By World War II, these states had begun to want independence, and the following decades would witness revolution, regime change, violence, and, ultimately, a break from the grips of the Ottoman Empire and European powers (Provence). Today, the so called Arab Spring uprisings, ongoing now for several years, are in part as a result of mid 20th century political rule and administration by outside powers. After the 2003 invasion of Iraq Jordan took about 100,000 Iraqis seeking temporary escape from the war in their country (IRIN). Jordan is a strong US ally and they were the second Arab state to sign a peace treaty with Israel after Egypt. This is an enormously contentious issue in Jordan where about half the residents are Palestinians who left their country between 1948 and 1967 (Anderson). When Jordan s King Hussein signed the peace treaty it was a risky move. Jordan has no oil reserves, and the population tends to be pretty poor. Some Jordanians saw the treaty as an indication of further instability rather than development. Promises of US aid money and support helped prompt the deal, but Jordanians understand this agreement means that the US is required to continue support Jordan indefinitely (Anderson). • 32. The Harm In Hate Speech Analysis Jeremy Waldron argues in favor of hate speech restrictions in his book The Harm in Hate Speech . He presents the central argument that vulnerable minorities are in need of hate speech regulation to protect them from harm. Another argument he presents is that such regulation must be a content based regulation, as opposed to a time, place, and manner restriction that is usually employed to prevent certain kinds of speech. A final argument he uses is that speech is the harmful action, rather than speech simply causing harmful actions. I do not find his arguments to be compelling enough reasons to support restricting free speech with hate speech laws. Waldron s central argument is that vulnerable minorities need and deserve government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believes that since hate speech legislation is seen as acceptable and necessary in most developed nations that it is therefore the principles are also applicable to the United States. He openly admits that he does not accept any assumptions that make up free speech jurisprudence, because they are contrary to his views on how society needs to address hateful speech. The assumptions he rejects include the tendency for truth to prevail in the marketplace of ideas, the effectiveness of counter speech, and that content based restrictions are bad. However, these ideas cannot be simply dismissed because they are central to the American perspective on the necessity of hate speech legislation. Waldron fails to address in an effective way why he is able to dismiss these central ideas. In doing so, he is practically admitting to the reader that his ideas are based outside of the framework of the reality of American free speech tradition. The strength of his argument suffers from the fact that his argument is not applicable to the reality of American society s views on free speech. Waldron also argues that the harms caused by hate speech are constituted by speech, rather than merely caused by speech (166). He believes that the element that damages the dignity and assurance of vulnerable minorities is the speech itself, not actions that they speech promotes or the way that it is ... • 33. The Four Noble Truth Vs. The Eightfold Path The Four Noble Truths are Buddha s reflections about life and they define what is suffering (dukkha) and how to overcome suffering. The first noble truth is that no living being can escape suffering (Eastern Traditions, p.200). This suffering can be emotional or physical. Buddha wants to emphasize that life does not always meet our expectations and this will lead to suffering. People will still be suffering even if there is not an external source, like a disease, because they will feel unfulfilled. The second Noble Truth addresses that suffering comes from a person s desires (Eastern Traditions, p.200). People may be able to satisfy their desires but this is only temporary solution to suffering. The third Noble truth is that person can end their suffering if they cease their desires (Eastern Traditions, p.200). The possibility of liberation can happen if the person extinguishes his or her desires instead of temporarily satisfying them. • 38. Examples Of Mortality In The Iliad Mortality In The Iliad: The Trancience Of Human Life And Its Creations Mortality is the state of being subject to death, and, as we all know and can only accept, we are all mortal, and so is our material world. Everything that has a beginning has an end. We are the same as the men of Troy and Achaea in the sense that we re all bound to die; our glass houses and skyscrapers now are just as subject to destruction as their ruined walls and buried cities. Death is inevitable, just like change is. Even though sometimes, such as when one is young and wild or when one is simply very well off and comfortable, we feel invincible and unsusceptible to death, we are. We are impermanent and we will be forgotten that is, unless we make sure that we live to be remembered. The Iliad begins in medias res, during the tenth year of the Trojan War, and as a story whose plot revolves around what this war brought upon the mortals who fought in it; the Iliad bares and ... The physical bodies of all mortals and their creations will fade from that memory, so what is it that man must do to gain this kind of immortality that we ve been allowed to attain? Homer suggests that we should live our lives as gloriously and honorably as we can, and perhaps our words and deeds will survive us. The Iliad might as well be proof that his suggestion ... The thought of an undead night stalker that nourishes on human blood has been around for quite a long time and perseveres right up till modern days. The image of the immortal creature has perfectly fitted into the modern popular culture. Various nations and societies over the globe have individual deviations of a comparative folkloric substance. Regardless of the variety, all vampire stories have a key shared characteristic the desire for human blood and immortality. It was not until the late XIX century that an Irish writer agreed an expansiveness of learning on such folkloric stories and devised the character that now goes about as the format for the vampire myth. Bram Stoker s Dracula was initially distributed in 1897 and starting now and into the foreseeable future the author s title character set the point of reference for every single anecdotal vampire. Vampire fiction, in any case, keeps on developing and enrapture in spite of the way that it draws from a limitless folkloric and scholarly past.
