Bill 2 Reflection
The two bills I chose were bill 2 and bill 5. These bills were a resolution to create a demilitarized zone
the South China Sea (bill 2) and a bill to create an Indian free trade agreement (bill 5). The speeches I
wrote were both positive and bill 2 was won by the Republicans, which is the group I was with. I also
believe bill 5 would have been won too, but that bill was never called upon. The South China Sea is
worth 5.3 trillion dollars. This is enough for China to threaten military action for claim over the wealth
(Fensom). How important is this body of water? The South China Sea is very valuable. Most of its
wealth is within trade, islands, and oil. Many global sea routes connect in the South China Sea, giving
it the nickname the throat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found myself agreeing with every bill that was voted on for the Republican side. However, there
were some bills I did not agree with. For example, bill 1 I would have had to vote no, against the
Republican party, because I do not agree with a bill to eliminate mandatory minimum sentences. The
bills that were brought up for discussion happened to work out to where I agree with, and voted on,
the Republican side.
The hardest part about Mock Congress was getting in front of the class and saying my speech. I am
not very good at speaking, making it hard to fluently give an entire speech in front of a crowd. The
easiest part about Mock Congress was probably listening and voting on other bills. The part I enjoyed
the most was listening and debating on the bills brought up in class. I enjoyed this because I found it
to be fun and interesting. The part I enjoyed least would definitely been giving my speech in front of
the class.
I do not really have any one person in mind for the best congressman/woman. If I had to choose, I
would pick Alex Hudson. I am choosing him because he was very active during the duration of Mock
Congress. He brought up several good points, along with asking good questions. Alex also seemed the
most prepared on him speech, being that he had all the facts he needed for his speech memorized and
did not need and

The Battle Of The Fairfax Court House In Virginia
The first person who reported back to the Fairfax Court House in Virginia after the skirmish was
Major General Julius Stahel of the commanding Cavalry Division department of Washington due to
the orders received. The skirmish began between the hours of seven and ten in the morning. Stahel
states that it all started with an attack done by Mosby, with his band of guerrillas, together with a
portion of the Black Horse Cavalry and a portion of the North Carolina Regiment. The strategic attack
was done in the sneakiest way, Mosby and his conjoined calvaries and regiment blindsided their
opponents without any warning as they came from Warrenton. So to sum it up, the army suddenly
came out the woods and crept behind the troops stationed at the ... Show more content on

However it wasn t over yet, seventy men who were a part of the Fifth Regiment New York Cavalry,
that was posted in the rear came to the rescue. Under the command of Major Hammond, the men came
upon the rebels from behind just as they had did the First Virginia Cavalry in their sneak attack.
Shortly after, a running fight ensued between both sides. The fight continued for about five to seven
miles down the side of the railroad. So, the men followed the rebels in every direction possible, killing
and wounding a substantial amount of soldiers. Mosby being one of the wounded, was reported shot in
the shoulder, resulting in the compromise of his force with the exception of twenty. However the end
didn t come until the fight made its way toward Warrenton all the prisoners taken by Mosby were
recaptured, with the exception of two. Not only that but Major General Stahel believes if their horses
had been in better condition, and not tired out by the service of the last few days, Mosby, nor a single
one of his men, would ve escaped. But despite the horses being tired out, and them being outnumbered
the First Virginia and Fifth Regiment New York managed to come out with a crazy victory. On the
other had, the rebels suffered a tragic loss. Their men were murdered and scattered along the road
from Warrenton Junction to Warrenton. However besides those killed, many were immediately
removed from the fields and woods by citizens who lived

Describe the Concept of Jit and Its Relationship to...
Just In Time (JIT) is a management philosophy which implements systems or processes which aims to
maximise return of investment by maximising production efficiency, improving product quality,
reducing manufacturing and logistical costs, and the elimination of waste. JIT, as the name implies,
also means bringing the right materials at the right place at the right time. Items must arrive as and
when they are needed, neither earlier nor later, but just in time . In its strictest sense, inventory is
considered a waste in JIT. In logistics, JIT aims to eliminate waste of all forms; be it time, resources or
materials.
Although the JIT concept has been applied loosely for years by various organisations, the JIT
philosophy we know today can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, the computers delivered were customized according to different customer requirements, without
compromising on quality. With JIT, production levels can be easily adjusted to meet demand.
Integrated supplier and distributor networks were instrumental in the success of Dell Computers.
Without these relationships, Dell would not have been able to support a 50+% growth rate for 3
consecutive years that lead to $12 billion in annual sales by 1997. (Fillard, Frahm, Mercer Scott, n.d.)
Although the JIT system managed to revolutionise numerous companies in the way they run their
logistics, it is not all a bed of roses for some companies. Since JIT does away with supply inventory,
companies are sometimes forced to be over dependent on their JIT suppliers. Sometimes they are at
their suppliers mercy. Examples of this can be found at Ford Motor Company and General Motors.
Ford faced a problem with one of its suppliers which forced them to shut down six plants which cost
them tens of millions of dollars. The supply company for General Motors had a strike, and supplies
could not be delivered. Two thirds of their plants had to shut down. This cost GM about $600 million
in profits in 1996. (Glenn, T. 2001)
For JIT to be efficiently implemented, it is vital for companies to have the right partner suppliers
which share the same JIT commitment and drive. Toyota

For Six Months During 1835 And 1836, The People Of Texas,
For six months during 1835 and 1836, the people of Texas, both Tejanos and colonist, fought for their
independence from Mexico and from Santa Anna, who had been establishing new, stricter laws for
those in Texas. In the most iconic battle of this revolution, the men at the Alamo went beyond what
was expected of the typical Texas soldier in the revolution and their deaths created a thirst for revenge
that lasted through the rest of the war. It was this thirst for revenge that played a significant role in the
success at the Battle of San Jacinto. As was true with the rest of the Texas revolutionaries, there was
variety in the group of men who fought at the Alamo. They were freemen and slaves, Tejanos and
Texans, those who were willing to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Fannin s attitude is not necessarily representative of the rest of the Texas Army, there was
certainly a difference between the Texas Army and the men at the Alamo. Although all of the soldiers
fighting in the revolution were putting their lives at risk, the men at the Alamo knowingly sacrificed
their lives because of their commitment to their cause. Prior to the battle of the Alamo, San Antonio
was taken by the Texas army with significant help from the local Tejanos population. Approximately
160 Tejanos fought, many from the city to which they were laying siege. While having the Tejanos on
the same side as the Texans was incredibly beneficial, the relationship began to fall apart quickly, due
in part to the Texas soldiers need for supplies and their lack of funds. The Texans started to simply
take what they needed, be it crops or livestock. Although farmers and ranchers received assurances
that they would be reimbursed in the years following the war, it was small comfort. Another problem
was the difference in what the two groups were trying to accomplish. While the Texans were seeking
complete freedom from Mexico, the majority of Tejanos wanted to become a Federalism within
Mexico. This difference in end goals coupled

Dean trailed in the polls miserably, garnering support that was typically less than the margin of error.
But Dean was a unique candidate. Part of his appeal was that he was not a traditional polished
politician, but was an outsider to the political game. The Dean campaign was not getting much media
coverage (Trippi called them dismissive ). The Dean camp felt the only way to succeed was to bypass
the traditional means of building a campaign and appeal directly to the American people (Rampton,
2004).
Joe Trippi brought with him a background of working for dot coms in Silicon Valley, giving him
significant exposure to the web. He noticed that while Dean trailed in the polls, the social networking
portal Meetup.com (where users group up on a specific topic and propose meeting times at local
venues) had 432 members for the Howard Dean group, more than any other political candidate. Trippi

Sherlock Holmes Anti Hero Essay
The age of the anti hero is upon us. Historically, the stories are only told about heroes Captain
America, Superman, etc. but the anti hero has been gaining more traction, more light, in popular
culture and social media. Anti heroes have begun to grace the screens of primetime television or
earning their own series on Netflix. When looking into anti heroes plenty come to mind: Daredevil,
Walter White, Lestat to name a few. But what if a famous literature character who came back due to

General Solicitations And Sell Securities
General Solicitations in Rule 506 D Securities To offer and sell securities in the United States, an
issuer must comply with the registration requirements of the amended Securities Act of 1933, or must
offer and sell the securities pursuant to an exemption from the registration requirements. Rule 506 of
Regulation D is commonly used as a private offering exemption. In 2013 the SEC lifted the ban on
general solicitation or general advertising in specific private offerings of securities. Considered the
final rule , it represents a compromise in many respects. Businesses who wish to raise funds will have
greater opportunities for fulfilling their goal with the lifting of the ban. However, compliance
requirements must also be satisfied in the process. The final rule doesn t apply to all private securities
offerings. Businesses are required to meet numerous requirements such as selling only to accredited
investors, taking logical steps to verify each potential investor is accredited, and follow the other terms
and conditions of a Rule 506 securities offering. For example, issuers should realize that nothing in
the amendments to Rule 506 affect the obligation of the issuer utilizing the safe harbor to make full
and complete disclosure regarding the offering. All items considered material regarding the offering
are still required to be disclosed in writing prior to the sale of securities under the safe harbor,
regardless of whether general solicitation or general advertising is

Haitian Bridge Scenario
SCENARIO The French government had donated that bridge to help the Haitian people. As I stated
before, this kind of bridge must not stay on the terrain for a long time. This time would be different
due to the peculiar situation of those villages. The cities of Dondon and San Rafael used the former
bridge for many purposes like to take children to school, go to the doctor appointments and day by day
displacements. The old bridge had fallen three years ago during a tropical storm. Since that day,
people used a ford path in the river to cross. They really needed that bridge.
PUTTING THE PLAN IN PRACTICE
Finally, our platoon arrived at the bridge place. Already on arrival, we realized the first problem. The
road that led to the bridge was very narrow. This greatly hindered the way that we had to put our
bridge material on the ground. Looking around us, we realized we had a solution. There was a private
land next to the perfect installation location to accommodate all material. I shifted up to the residence
with our sergeant who was a French interpreter. I knocked in her door and my partner explained the
entire situation. She listened us ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was doing the safety of the work site. A large number of curious Haitians surrounded the place trying
not to miss any detail of the work. Our stuff was widespread, impairing the smooth progress of work.
Despite all this, we were all motivated and glad to help those people. We had a hard work long day. In
the end of day, we were exhausted. Next morning everything would start again. The place we were
was quite away from the city. Because of that, there was no internet signal available. We would be
nearly 15 days without contact with our families. Looking to the bright side of it was the opportunity

Same-Sex Marriage Argument
Same Sex Marriage Argument
Sarah Springstube
PHI103 Informal Logic
Instructor DeFusco
August 4, 2014
Same sex marriage has been an issue among society for many years. Not all people understand there is
no ban on same sex marriage nor is it illegal. In all fifty states there are couples of the same sex who
live together, ones who choose their professional job to be in a workplace where joint benefits are
offered, and ones who choose a religious community which accepts their relationship. Those who
believe this is an issue and feel it should be illegal were likely raised to believe it is wrong to marry
someone of the same gender. Whether these people in society were raised by what their religion
believes or what their families have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyone could sit and debate this issue all day long, but understanding the reality of the situation is
another story. Everyone s reality is different and everyone s perspective on same sex marriage is
different. If society came together as a whole and realized that any person who is categorized as gay
has the same opportunities in life that anyone else has. They cannot help that they are gay, they were
born that way. Being who you are is especially important in order to feel accepted as a person.
Without the support of society and the government same sex marriages will bring a new chapter into
each and every state. It is up to the individuals in society to accept one not because of their sexual
orientation but be accepted for who they are as an individual. Listening to others debate this issue is
interesting and the feedback one encounters could make feelings change or become real.

Stereotypes And Perceptions Of Military Personnel
For many years a great deal of men and women have bravely fought to protect their country, yet those
who have served are often misunderstood. People s perception of military personnel has been mislead
by different experiences they have with them, which is why people have different views on different
people. Stereotypes and misconceptions are used by people to talk about or describe others based on
the limited knowledge they have on the group of people. Stereotypes are a widely believed mental
picture of a group that are based on truth, but are usually exaggerated. This leads someone to infer that
a person has characteristics and abilities just as the rest of the group he or she is associated with has.
Misconceptions are formed from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stereotypes and misconceptions can be learned by anyone at any time since there are many sources to
get them from and as long as people are not properly informed about a group stereotypes and
misconceptions will always be out there. Stereotypes are often made by the media and other groups in
order to make society believe what they believe or what they want others to believe which may lead to
the negative way a person thinks about others. These stereotypes and misconceptions can be seen
when news stations talk about military, politics, celebrities, and other subjects. The news can portray
them as bad or good people but it all depends on what benefits them or others. This is why people
have different views on certain groups of people, since some people hear different things than others
there is always different stereotypes or misconceptions regarding another group of people. Stereotypes
and misconceptions of a group from others who know little leads to the bad or good reputation formed
by the misleading statements. For example, movies and documentaries such as 13 Hours and
American Sniper portray Navy Seals as tall and really muscular men. The main characters are almost
always the biggest men and most of them have fully grown beards. In most of the movies these guys
in most cases are the heroes. They do the impossible and win in the most improbable situation, which
is probably why people see Navy Seals as the most lethal men in the Navy. Most people believe that

The Year I Would Not Say 2003
I would not say 2003 was my brightest year. Actually, I do not think I had that yet but it was the year I
started to notice how terrible the public school system in the city of Saint Louis could be. Not to say
every teacher didn t care but, it was something special about the teachers I encountered in this year. A
certain I don t care attitude that they gave off. This was never more apparent than in my 6th grade
homeroom class at Froebel elementary.
My homeroom teacher, Mr. Harris, a six foot tall elderly man stood up from the faded brown chair
pointing his wrinkled index finger at every single word on the chalk board in front of me and the tired
class. His greyish black mustache slowly rose from his mouth as he said the goal for the day. Just do
something! he shouted as he pointed at the board. He always had an attitude when he was speaking to
the class for some reason. His wrinkled Blue dress shirt and dark brown pants was a perfect
representation of his attitude, bland. I know you all are going to sleep and laugh through the whole
day. So do the other teachers a favor and don t snore loud. He said turning his face to us. His glasses
looked as old as he was. The black paint on them began to chip showing the hidden metal frame as the
light from the ceiling shined down on his wrinkled brown face. He rarely smiled but today he chose to
because it was a special day and boy was it pleasant . His teeth were yellow and I could smell his
breath from the middle of

Is Narcissism A Narcissistic Personality Disorder ( Npd )
In today s society, all types of personalities can be found on every corner, but has anyone ever
interacted with a person that requires an overwhelming amount of respect and admiration. This action
could be considered an arrogant personality trait; however, it could also imply that this person has a
narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). These individuals can be quite charming at first, making
friends quickly and can be the life of the party until it doesn t fit their needs any longer. A person with
this identity issue can be self centered, aggressive, boastful, and discover ways of blaming others for
their problems (Dimaggio, G., 2012). Also, they tend to struggle with personal relationships and
normally have strife in their typical workplace. This type of behavior stems from the fact that they
have learned early in life that they can do no wrong. The issues can intensify over time because of
dissatisfaction with their achievements that can lead to depression, alcoholism, substance abuse and
suicide. This research paper will focus on whether narcissism is a function in life that is chosen or is it
caused by an imbalance in the individual s body chemistry. While inquiring about the person with
narcissistic attributes and their complex way of life, the question must be asked, how could an
individual not have any desire to live an all around healthy lifestyle. There is definitely more to this
story than simply needing to live in a world where everyone can accept

The Ethical Dilemmas of Genetic Testing for Huntington s...
The Ethical Dilemmas of Genetic Testing for Huntington s Disease
INTRODUCTION Huntington s Disease (HD) is an autosomal dominant, progressive,
neurodegenerative disorder (Walker, 2007 and Harmon, 2007). The gene that causes the disease is
located on the fourth chromosome and causes an abnormal number of repeats in the patient s genetic
code (Harmon, 2007). Huntington s Disease can have devastating effects on patients quality of life.
The first symptoms of HD generally start between the ages of 30 and 45 and patients are typically
asymptomatic prior to this time (Terrenoire, 1992 and Walker, 2007). However, the disease progresses
with subtle changes in motor control, personality, and cognition. Patients eventually develop distinct

However, confidentiality rights also protect the patient s health information and right to privacy.
Another issue that arises concerns the confidentiality of HD diagnoses with relation to insurance
companies. Many patients fear that they will be denied or will no longer be able to afford insurance
coverage if the insurance company learns that they will one day have HD (Ethical issues of genetic
diagnosis, 2007). Insurance companies may also begin to mandate that genetically related individuals
undergo predictive genetic testing for HD if one family member develops the disease (Ethical issues
of genetic diagnosis, 2007). Another ethical debate reigns in the choice for HD patients to have
children and in prenatal screening for HD. Since HD is generally not diagnosed until later in life,
many patients have children before their HD diagnosis (Ethical issues of genetic diagnosis, 2007). The
children of one parent with HD have a 50% chance of developing the disease themselves. However, if
a patient tests positive for the gene that causes Huntington s disease before having children, conflicts
could arise between partners about whether or not to even have children (Ethical issues of genetic
diagnosis, 2007 and Tassicker, Savulescu, Skene, Marshall, Fitzgerald Delatycki, 2003). The
predictive genetic test for HD can also be performed before a baby is born. If

Yet, as per my view, there should be every Indigenous individual has their own email address.
Emails are a right or a privilege
Emails are quick. They are conveyed on the double far and wide. No other type of composed
correspondence is as quick as an email. Therefore, today with the press of a button, favoured messages
are routinely sent worldwide by method of email. In spite of the pragmatic and practical advantages of
email, its fast development in ubiquity of utilization has uncovered some of its shrouded pitfalls.
Privilege means legitimate guidance must be looked for from an expert lawful counsel; the
correspondence must identify with that reason; and the interchanges must be made in certainty
between special persons (Hall and Estrella, 2000). Thus, Emails feel like private discussions. Mostly,
in the working environment, managers regularly hold the privilege to screen each email sent or got by
a representative on a business possessed device or system (DeLisi, 2012). In bright of the separating
suppositions among the ABA, the beneficiary of an errant email must counsel any relevant morals

Besides, notwithstanding taking sensible safeguards to ensure the classification of special messages,

Data And The Standard Model Of Its Representation As Well...
In this Chapter, we present the background needed to understand the work proposed in this thesis. As
our research mainly concerns with securing provenance, Section 2.1 will cover provenance data and
the standard model of its representation as well as the applications of securing provenance. Section 2.2
introduces graph databases that will be used later in storing provenance in our prototype. Section 2.3
explores workflow systems and workflow provenance. Section 2.4 illustrates the main security
principles that will be tackled in the thesis and inference problem that attacks privacy. Finally, Section
2.5 summarizes the main content of this chapter.
2.1 What is provenance?
Provenance (aka lineage) is a descriptive metadata (i.e. data about data). It specifies not only the
properties of an object but also the history of deriving this object. As provenance touches many
different domains and applications, it has different definitions that represent different views of
provenance such as Description of the origins of data and the process by which it arrived at the
database [20], Metadata recording the process of experiment workflows, annotations, and notes about
experiments [50].
The rationale behind provenance has been long established, for example log files and metadata, but
the term provenance is recent and it is gaining popularity particularly in workflow systems.
Descriptive metadata only becomes part of provenance when one also specifies its relationship to
deriving an

other residents in the activity/recreation area. The scent of lemon wafted over to me once again, and I
realized that she had an air freshener plug in the wall nearest the window. Evidently, she did not like
the smell of nursing homes either. It suddenly hit me that she could be me in the future! She had a
similar story like me, she liked some of the same things I did, and she had a great sense of humor. All
Ms. Clara Mae needed was someone to listen to her and a little companionship. I had learned that her
family no longer visited her anymore and the only people that saw her on a routine basis was a group
that came from a church once a month. How sad! I felt connected to her and it crushed me to leave
her. She seemed to understand and reassured me that she knew I was busy and had lots of things to do.
As I stood to walk out of the yellow room, with the one plant and no electronics, I made a pledge that
I would try to be someone that she could rely on to come visit. Then I sadly realized that I would not
have the opportunity to see her again until

First , Big brother and the thought police were almost inevitable. There was no way to commit any

Persuasive Essay On College Athletes
Athletics in the United States are the mainframe to where people get their main source of
entertainment, particularly from collegiate sports. College sports show passion, commitment, and a
loyalty to a school. Players give 100% on every play because they are working towards one goal; to
get to the professional level. They are doing all of this while facing the hardship of college classes,
and facing the fame they get wherever they walk in and around the public place. Because of the
different factors these athletes face, people believe they should be getting paid for what they are doing.
On the flip side, the other majority of people believe they should get nothing at all because of the free
education they were already blessed with. It is believed that while athletes are working as hard as they
can just to be on the team, coaches and officials from the universities are given the money that athletes
work for. Colleges are getting outrageous contracts, and are paying massive amounts of money to
coaches, while athletes sit in the dust. In an article written by Dan Bickley, a sports journalists for the
Arizona Republic, writes, that ESPN is paying $7.3 billion to televise the College Football Playoff
over a 12 year period. Three assistant coaches at the University of Michigan are making over $1
million per year. (...) and there are 24 schools that now earn at least $100 million annually from their
sports teams. This is a significant amount of money that s going

explores this link through the two most prominent characters, Tally Youngblood and her friend Shay.
Tally Youngblood cannot wait to turn sixteen and get the operation that will turn her from an ugly into
a pretty, where she can move into Pretty Town and worry only about having fun. However, her friend
Shay decides she would rather stay ugly and runs away before she gets the operation herself. The
authorities known as Specials and led by Dr. Cable tell Tally that she can either find Shay and bring
her back or stay ugly forever. Initially choosing to bring Shay in, Tally realizes that she was sent not
just to find Shay, but an entire settlement of people who decided to stay ugly, dubbed the Smoke. It is
there that she also learns about the lesions, and armed with this knowledge decides to turn her back on
her old dreams of turning pretty. It is unfortunately too little too late though, and the Specials come
and destroy the settlement. The Smoke itself lives to fight another day, but Tally and Shay are taken
back to their city and made pretty.
In the second book, Tally is living it up in Pretty Town. She hangs out with her friend Shay and a new
gang called the Crims in a constant world of partying. Tally is not sure she is Crim material though;
she constantly feels echoes of discomfort with her life as is. The story then takes a sudden turn as

The Problem Of Pressure Ulcer Prevention
Conceptual Framework A framework is an abstract, logical structure of meaning, which guides the
development of the study and enables the researcher to link the findings to nursing s body of
knowledge. Every study has a framework, and in this study it is explicitly expressed. Drake and
colleagues (2012) inductively have studied and surveyed subjects on the matter of pressure ulcer
prevention. The concepts in the framework are (a) pediatric nurses knowledge of pressure ulcer
prevention, (b) beliefs and practices, (c) barriers and facilitators to providing evidence based pressure
ulcer preventive practices. Operational and conceptual definitions are used and are consistently
associated with one another. It is implied that enhancing nurses knowledge base, disseminating
guidelines, and generally improving the practices of nurses working with patients at risk for impaired
skin integrity will significantly enhance the quality of life for the patients.
Methods
The methods section of a research report tells the reader how the study was conducted, and it should
include the design of the study, ethical value of the study, sampling size, the measurements, and the
data that they collected. The study design of this article is an exploratory, descriptive study in which
they used a cross sectional survey. In an inpatient setting at a freestanding academic Midwestern

Sherman Alexie s Ten Little Indians
Sherman Alexie s writing contains irony and dark humor in order to draw attention to the ongoing
issues Native Americans face. Throughout Ten Little Indians, Sherman Alexie illustrates the journeys
of modern day Spokane Indians and the struggles they face while trying to find their true identity. The
struggles include the stereotype of a Spokane Indian and pursuing a life outside of the reservation.
Corliss, the main character of the chapter, believes in the nonconformity of people, fighting against
social expectations, and not following stereotypes. This feeling of nonconformity is heavily present
throughout this chapter, especially when Corliss is talking about herself. Fight your stereotypes! she
exclaims when she notices how easy it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Search Engine is a pun and engine is a play on words of the racial slur injun which proves that the
title symbolizes Corliss determination and passion. She is a searching injun trying to find where she
belongs whether it be in her Native American society or in the world outside of her reservation.
Corliss has always known that Indians were obsessed with authenticity. Colonized, genocided, exiled,
Indians formed their identities by questioning the identities of other Indians, (Alexie 40). Corliss is
authentic in her own way because she chooses to pursue a different life than what is expected of her
from her family. She is much more determined to find a life that fits her and brings her pure joy. Also,
it s ironic that Harlan Atwater poses as a Spokane Indian. He writes about the poor living conditions
on an Indian reservation, but in reality he has no connection to the Spokane reservation. Being raised
by a white family eliminates Harlan s authenticity as a Native American writer, thus making him an
outsider in Spokane society. Harlan also relates to the title of the chapter. He has been searching for
his identity as either a Spokane Indian or as a white male. He wants to know the feeling of being an
Indian who lived on a reservation which made him create this fake Spokane Indian character. After his
book fails, he decides to accept his

In fact, many people who study the culture of the United States recognize that the United States is
already made up of a number of distinct cultures. Even if we re looking only at the English speakers
we recognize that there are different dialects of English spoken in the United States by different
groups. In the West, for example, people are proud of the way they talk; they don t want to talk like
people in the East or the South. Likewise, they don t want to be like the East or the South in some
cultural aspects. Making English the official language would hardly decrease fragmentation in these
groups, and would probably do little to change the behavior of those who don t speak English at home,
either. (After all, an English only law would only apply at an official governmental level, not in the
home.) Neither do I think that the country is suddenly going to fall apart if people are allowed to
continue speaking other languages if they choose. It hasn t fallen apart so far, even though there are

Fodo Baggins Archetypes
One of the most important archetypes is the hero. Without the hero, there is no story to be told. Heroes
can be found in every story and many times if you analyze the story you will find that there is more
than one hero. In The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring, there are multiple heroes. The
obvious hero would be Frodo Baggins, because he is the main character and he has the undertaking of
destroying Sauron s ring, but there are others as well. Two others that stood out immensely are;
Gandalf The Grey and Aragorn (The Strider). They all performed many courageous and brave actions
to save their fellowship. Frodo, Gandalf and Aragorn all take part in destroying the ring that rules all,
to restore order.
Frodo Baggins was who the ring was passed onto. The one who was called upon to be the one to
obliterate the ring from existence. Events that took place throughout the major motion picture The
Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring, made it very distinct that Frodo is the hero. When
the ring is brought to Rivendell, an argument develops that concerns who will take the ring to Mordor
to destroy it. Many people volunteered to take on this task but, none are accepted because their ...

all of this just to win the rights of women being able to vote and get equal rights as men.
Davison had a very interesting but tragic death. She died June 4, 1913 on a Wednesday. She got
injured at an horse race called the Epsom Derby. Emily was standing by the white rail near Tattenham

The Christmas stocking symbolizes Christmas, which is traditionally a Christian holiday, but also

The gift giving in the stockings is an important part of the Christmas experience and represents a spirt
of generosity, goodwill and giving. (King, 2017) These beliefs are also embodied within the Christian
culture.
Now that I ve portrayed the stockings symbolism, let s learn about some of the current ways to use
them. Although in the past stockings were used for gold coins, or citrus fruits such as oranges, the
modern day traditions are somewhat different.
Stockings are usually created in the shape of an oversized sock. Many families practice the tradition of
personalizing their stockings with names, favorite hobbies and/or interests of the individual. Stockings
can be handmade or store bought. They come in many colors, themes, materials and fabrics. The
options are endless when it comes to personalizing your own stocking. (Witham, 2017)
In the present day stockings are hung by the chimney to be filled by Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.
They are traditionally filled with small gifts known as stocking stuffers. The Merry Stockings online

Life on a Military Base
As we sat on the sea wall, I noticed the look of discomfort in Jackson s eyes. Ever since he had moved
from Fort Bragg to my hometown, we had been best friends. It was the summer of 7th grade and we
were preparing to go on a school sponsored fishing trip. As we stepped aboard the boat, Jackson
pulled me away from the other kids and in a hushed tone muttered, There s something I want to talk to
you about. It s my dad.
In that instant I knew. The mix of gravity and sorrow in his expression revealed everything. Jackson
explained that his father, a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army, had been ordered to relocate
to Germany for a new assignment. Like many of my friends from military families, Jackson would
move out of my life within weeks, swept away by the needs of the United States military.
Growing up near Macdill Air Force Base in Tampa, I met and befriended many children like Jackson
with military parents. To the average civilian, they were just normal kids from military families, but to
those familiar with military culture, they were more commonly known as military brats . Used as a
term of endearment and respect within the military community, military brat is defined by Mary
Edwards Wertsch, author of the book Military Brats: Legacies of Childhood Inside the Fortress, as the
children of a military parent or parents who have served full time in the United States armed forces.

Being organized will help you so much throughout middle school. The main reason to be organized is
because it will make you feel less stressed. Let s say you just stuff homework in your backpack when
your backpack is already full of papers, then the next day you will have so much stress rummaging
through your backpack for a single paper. Being prepared is essential. I have seen many people get

If you get homework from every class and it is all due the next day, don t do it all at 10:00 PM, this is

under the same category as time management, but this usually has to do with projects, not homework,

Chinese Response To The Boxer Rebellion
The Boxer Rebellion illustrated a period of turmoil in China s history. The root cause of the uprising
has often been a discussion of debate. There were both internal and external forces that lead up to the
movement and the aftermath resulted in the deaths of Christians and missionaries. The Opium wars

invasion efforts in China. By the end of the 19th century Japan and Western powers would force the
Qing dynasty to accept foreign control over their economic affairs. The Chinese government s
response to the actions of the West would be significant with furthering the conflict. Despite this, the

country. With the goal of commercial privileges and legal and territorial concessions in China, the

powers during the 19th and early 20th century. This would assist with the weakening and ultimate
elimination of the dynasty. Author Anthony E. Clark contends that unequal treaties would create
further conflict by allowing foreign missionaries the freedom to preach anywhere in China. He

  • 2. Bill 2 Reflection The two bills I chose were bill 2 and bill 5. These bills were a resolution to create a demilitarized zone the South China Sea (bill 2) and a bill to create an Indian free trade agreement (bill 5). The speeches I wrote were both positive and bill 2 was won by the Republicans, which is the group I was with. I also believe bill 5 would have been won too, but that bill was never called upon. The South China Sea is worth 5.3 trillion dollars. This is enough for China to threaten military action for claim over the wealth (Fensom). How important is this body of water? The South China Sea is very valuable. Most of its wealth is within trade, islands, and oil. Many global sea routes connect in the South China Sea, giving it the nickname the throat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I found myself agreeing with every bill that was voted on for the Republican side. However, there were some bills I did not agree with. For example, bill 1 I would have had to vote no, against the Republican party, because I do not agree with a bill to eliminate mandatory minimum sentences. The bills that were brought up for discussion happened to work out to where I agree with, and voted on, the Republican side. The hardest part about Mock Congress was getting in front of the class and saying my speech. I am not very good at speaking, making it hard to fluently give an entire speech in front of a crowd. The easiest part about Mock Congress was probably listening and voting on other bills. The part I enjoyed the most was listening and debating on the bills brought up in class. I enjoyed this because I found it to be fun and interesting. The part I enjoyed least would definitely been giving my speech in front of the class. I do not really have any one person in mind for the best congressman/woman. If I had to choose, I would pick Alex Hudson. I am choosing him because he was very active during the duration of Mock Congress. He brought up several good points, along with asking good questions. Alex also seemed the most prepared on him speech, being that he had all the facts he needed for his speech memorized and did not need and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Battle Of The Fairfax Court House In Virginia The first person who reported back to the Fairfax Court House in Virginia after the skirmish was Major General Julius Stahel of the commanding Cavalry Division department of Washington due to the orders received. The skirmish began between the hours of seven and ten in the morning. Stahel states that it all started with an attack done by Mosby, with his band of guerrillas, together with a portion of the Black Horse Cavalry and a portion of the North Carolina Regiment. The strategic attack was done in the sneakiest way, Mosby and his conjoined calvaries and regiment blindsided their opponents without any warning as they came from Warrenton. So to sum it up, the army suddenly came out the woods and crept behind the troops stationed at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However it wasn t over yet, seventy men who were a part of the Fifth Regiment New York Cavalry, that was posted in the rear came to the rescue. Under the command of Major Hammond, the men came upon the rebels from behind just as they had did the First Virginia Cavalry in their sneak attack. Shortly after, a running fight ensued between both sides. The fight continued for about five to seven miles down the side of the railroad. So, the men followed the rebels in every direction possible, killing and wounding a substantial amount of soldiers. Mosby being one of the wounded, was reported shot in the shoulder, resulting in the compromise of his force with the exception of twenty. However the end didn t come until the fight made its way toward Warrenton all the prisoners taken by Mosby were recaptured, with the exception of two. Not only that but Major General Stahel believes if their horses had been in better condition, and not tired out by the service of the last few days, Mosby, nor a single one of his men, would ve escaped. But despite the horses being tired out, and them being outnumbered the First Virginia and Fifth Regiment New York managed to come out with a crazy victory. Just In Time (JIT) is a management philosophy which implements systems or processes which aims to maximise return of investment by maximising production efficiency, improving product quality, reducing manufacturing and logistical costs, and the elimination of waste. JIT, as the name implies, also means bringing the right materials at the right place at the right time. Items must arrive as and when they are needed, neither earlier nor later, but just in time . In its strictest sense, inventory is considered a waste in JIT. In logistics, JIT aims to eliminate waste of all forms; be it time, resources or materials. Also, the computers delivered were customized according to different customer requirements, without compromising on quality. With JIT, production levels can be easily adjusted to meet demand. Integrated supplier and distributor networks were instrumental in the success of Dell Computers. Without these relationships, Dell would not have been able to support a 50+% growth rate for 3 consecutive years that lead to $12 billion in annual sales by 1997. (Fillard, Frahm, Mercer Scott, n.d.) Although the JIT system managed to revolutionise numerous companies in the way they run their logistics, it is not all a bed of roses for some companies. Since JIT does away with supply inventory, companies are sometimes forced to be over dependent on their JIT suppliers. Sometimes they are at their suppliers mercy. Examples of this can be found at Ford Motor Company and General Motors. Ford faced a problem with one of its suppliers which forced them to shut down six plants which cost them tens of millions of dollars. The supply company for General Motors had a strike, and supplies could not be delivered. Two thirds of their plants had to shut down. This cost GM about $600 million in profits in 1996. (Glenn, T. 2001) For JIT to be efficiently implemented, it is vital for companies to have the right partner suppliers which share the same JIT commitment and drive. Toyota ... In the most iconic battle of this revolution, the men at the Alamo went beyond what was expected of the typical Texas soldier in the revolution and their deaths created a thirst for revenge that lasted through the rest of the war. It was this thirst for revenge that played a significant role in the success at the Battle of San Jacinto. Prior to the battle of the Alamo, San Antonio was taken by the Texas army with significant help from the local Tejanos population. Approximately 160 Tejanos fought, many from the city to which they were laying siege. While having the Tejanos on the same side as the Texans was incredibly beneficial, the relationship began to fall apart quickly, due in part to the Texas soldiers need for supplies and their lack of funds. The Texans started to simply take what they needed, be it crops or livestock. Although farmers and ranchers received assurances that they would be reimbursed in the years following the war, it was small comfort. Another problem was the difference in what the two groups were trying to accomplish. The first symptoms of HD generally start between the ages of 30 and 45 and patients are typically asymptomatic prior to this time (Terrenoire, 1992 and Walker, 2007). Insurance companies may also begin to mandate that genetically related individuals undergo predictive genetic testing for HD if one family member develops the disease (Ethical issues of genetic diagnosis, 2007). Another ethical debate reigns in the choice for HD patients to have children and in prenatal screening for HD. Since HD is generally not diagnosed until later in life, many patients have children before their HD diagnosis (Ethical issues of genetic diagnosis, 2007). The children of one parent with HD have a 50% chance of developing the disease themselves. Section 2.2 introduces graph databases that will be used later in storing provenance in our prototype. Section 2.3 explores workflow systems and workflow provenance. It specifies not only the properties of an object but also the history of deriving this object. As provenance touches many different domains and applications, it has different definitions that represent different views of provenance such as Description of the origins of data and the process by which it arrived at the database [20], Metadata recording the process of experiment workflows, annotations, and notes about experiments [50]. Scott further explores this link through the two most prominent characters, Tally Youngblood and her friend Shay. Tally Youngblood cannot wait to turn sixteen and get the operation that will turn her from an ugly into a pretty, where she can move into Pretty Town and worry only about having fun. However, her friend Shay decides she would rather stay ugly and runs away before she gets the operation herself. The authorities known as Specials and led by Dr. Cable tell Tally that she can either find Shay and bring her back or stay ugly forever. Initially choosing to bring Shay in, Tally realizes that she was sent not just to find Shay, but an entire settlement of people who decided to stay ugly, dubbed the Smoke. It is there that she also learns about the lesions, and armed with this knowledge decides to turn her back on her old dreams of turning pretty. It is unfortunately too little too late though, and the Specials come and destroy the settlement. The Smoke itself lives to fight another day, but Tally and Shay are taken back to their city and made pretty. In the second book, Tally is living it up in Pretty Town. • 25. The Problem Of Pressure Ulcer Prevention Conceptual Framework A framework is an abstract, logical structure of meaning, which guides the development of the study and enables the researcher to link the findings to nursing s body of knowledge. Every study has a framework, and in this study it is explicitly expressed. Drake and colleagues (2012) inductively have studied and surveyed subjects on the matter of pressure ulcer prevention. The concepts in the framework are (a) pediatric nurses knowledge of pressure ulcer prevention, (b) beliefs and practices, (c) barriers and facilitators to providing evidence based pressure ulcer preventive practices. Operational and conceptual definitions are used and are consistently associated with one another. It is implied that enhancing nurses knowledge base, disseminating guidelines, and generally improving the practices of nurses working with patients at risk for impaired skin integrity will significantly enhance the quality of life for the patients. Methods The methods section of a research report tells the reader how the study was conducted, and it should include the design of the study, ethical value of the study, sampling size, the measurements, and the data that they collected. Throughout Ten Little Indians, Sherman Alexie illustrates the journeys of modern day Spokane Indians and the struggles they face while trying to find their true identity. The struggles include the stereotype of a Spokane Indian and pursuing a life outside of the reservation. Corliss, the main character of the chapter, believes in the nonconformity of people, fighting against social expectations, and not following stereotypes. She is a searching injun trying to find where she belongs whether it be in her Native American society or in the world outside of her reservation. Corliss has always known that Indians were obsessed with authenticity. Colonized, genocided, exiled, Indians formed their identities by questioning the identities of other Indians, (Alexie 40). Corliss is authentic in her own way because she chooses to pursue a different life than what is expected of her from her family. She is much more determined to find a life that fits her and brings her pure joy. Also, it s ironic that Harlan Atwater poses as a Spokane Indian. He writes about the poor living conditions on an Indian reservation, but in reality he has no connection to the Spokane reservation. Being raised by a white family eliminates Harlan s authenticity as a Native American writer, thus making him an outsider in Spokane society. Harlan also relates to the title of the chapter.
