Corporate Crime Is A Victimless Crime
Corporate Crime The question before our society is not whether corporate crime is a victimless crime,
rather the question is what should be done about it? Corporate crime doesn t just do harm to the
investors that can be unknowingly damaged by these crimes, it has a much more insidious nature to it
as it has done harm on global scales. Corporate crime is almost a misnomer because many of these
criminal wrongdoings are for the most part legal, when not taken to their ultimate conclusion. Society
within the United States has been taught that the man in the brief case, yelling at other men in dark
coats on the flow of the stock exchange are the smartest guys in the room. This paper will attack that
idea on many levels, the first salvo will be

The Breakdown Of The Traditional Family Division Of...
During the late 20th century, the world has witnessed all sorts of social and technological changes due
to globalisation (Bologun, Sutherland and Oswick, 2015). In fact, the breakdown of the traditional
family division of labour, instant communication through technology, and the increased complexity of
organisational objectives have favour gender equality and diversity. Those changes have pressure
companies to improve their work structure to be more competitive and to the extent that the idea of an
effective leadership has come under pressure to change too. Indeed, organisations have become less
hierarchical and more decentralised networks where the traditional source of power erode, and talents
instead of nepotism are rewarded (Klein, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They found out that female and male leaders have equal concern for the task. However, women
manifest more concern for an interpersonal relationship than men (Eagly and Johannesen‐Schmidt,
2001). Moreover, using Blake and Mouton (1964) framework, women show a more democratic (or
participative) style, which facilitates collaboration, and less autocratic (or directive) style, that don t
enhance followers creativity. Thus, according to the contemporary standard, women manifested more
appropriate traits for being an effective leader.
Furthermore, Eagly and Carli (2003) also conclude that female leader were more transformational and
applied contingent reward behaviours which is one of transactional leadership component. Conversely,
male leaders were more likely to involve two other aspects of transactional leadership which are active
management by exception (waiting for a follower s mistake to corrected it) and passive management
by exception (waiting for issues to become severe before solving it). Men also show a relatively high
interest in laissez faire leadership. That different categorization of leadership style became popular by
Burns in 1978 and then Bass in 1985. Transformational leadership intellectually stimulate and inspire

Qualitative Data Evaluation
To analyze the results of evaluation, the evaluators will undertake a robust analysis to identify whether
or not there are any differences in patient characteristics and treatments provided by the six Victorian
hospitals to Aboriginal people and non Aboriginal people. The qualitative data will be transcribed and
analyzed by using NVivo software based on the evaluation frameworks. Whereas the quantitative data
would be assessed by using SPSS in order to measure the impacts of the policy directions, funding,
workforce competencies and performance to facilitate the change in service delivery. To strengthen the
validity of findings, we also conduct triangulation that will help to compare the qualitative data based
on the opinion of key stakeholders and quantitative data from any sources. After completing data
analysis, we will conduct a consultation with key stakeholders to discuss the preliminary findings, to
establish any conclusions, and then to identify a possible improvement for strengthening the evidence.
To eliminate the possible bias in justifying a conclusion, we will conduct some reflection by involving
Aboriginal people.

Case Study Of The Target Market For Picmeal
For café/bar type restaurants consumers are more interested in dining in rather than ordering take out,
there was an 8% current value increase in growth for cafes/bars for 2015, which is a slight decrease
from 2014 s statistic of 10% growth this is due to more attention being attracted towards full service
restaurants (Passport, 2016). Fast food chain restaurants are a target for PicMeal because in the
hospitality industry, fast food has done exceptionally well over the past few years. The current value
for fast food restaurants has increased by 5% in 2015 (Passport, 2016), this aspect of the industry is
highly saturated which will in return benefit PicMeal because the number of providers increase. The

Assistive Technology for Computing Essay
Assistive Technology for Computing
One thing that programmers generally don t take into account when they re typing out code is How
accessible is my program or website going to be for someone who s impaired in some way?
Unfortunately, this has become a problem in our society which many people are hoping to fix.
Already, there s a huge assortment of products software, hardware, accessories, etc. to accommodate
those with impairments or disabilities of every sort. Here, we will see the technology in current use
that is making computing more universal.
Why Do We Need Assistive Technology?
If you can imagine being an impaired person trying to use a computer, you might imagine that life
could become very difficult. People with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this, there needs to be some alternate means of typing, and selecting files via the mouse cursor.
Overall, it s imperative to people with disabilities, whom are using computers, to have these issues
addressed so that there may be adequate technology allowing them to further communicate with the
rest of the world.
What Is Assistive Technology
Assistive technology (or adaptive technology) is specialized hardware and software applications that
enable [disabled] individuals to use a computer. ( Hyatt, Glenda Watson, pg. 5) It s a pretty simple
theory as to what assistive technology actually is, however what goes into actually accommodating
someone with disabilities is a rather complicated process. There are many problems, one important
one being the need of equipment that can be mounted on a wheelchair. Aside from these problems,
there are currently products out which can help PWD s use their computers.
Products Available Today
When looking at assistive technology, there are four different categories for usage by people with
different disabilities: Screen readers, Refreshable Braille Displays, Screen Magnifiers, and Voice
Recognition Applications. (Hyatt, 5) There is currently a myriad of different products available to
satisfy each of these categories. Also, there are a few different products for people with other types of
disabilities as well.
First there are products like screen readers, and screen magnifiers. Two of the types of screen

Fashion has been always worked in a close cooperation with cinematograph. Fashion industry uses
advertisements, commercials and films in order to successfully promote the products. Fashion films
are widely used among modern fashion brands as this type of promotion allows the consumer to look
at the product from different angles. Through color, sound and images used in the film the potential
purchaser is able to smell, touch , taste and feel the product. As well as other fashion brands Prada

The main characters are used as tool in order to express the main idea of the movie. The character of
Postman in The Postman Dreams and Candy in Prada Candy short films help the consumer to get an
idea of how the advertised products would be in a real life. The character of Candy is a young, playful,
frivolous and eccentric girl who eats sweets throughout all series. Figure 1 shows the first scene of the
Prada Candy film where Candy is on date eating a banana split desert. This scene is an introduction of
the Candy character and it helps the viewer to get an idea of her as a person and the product in
general. The pink color of her dress and the banana split desert signify childishness and carelessness to
some extent. The banana split scene tells the potential customer that it is possible to get two guys
around after the purchase of Prada Candy perfume. Based on the book by ....... the Ways of Seeing
such method makes the spectator dream about all possible situations that the advertised product could
bring into their lives. The same method was also used in Prada The postman Dreams film in order to
maximize the desire of the potential customer to own the product. In the The Postman Dreams series
the Galleria bag was used by different characters, which gave the viewer a bigger field for
imagination. However, the movie has a main character the Postman who servers a role of a connecting
element between all series. The movie director chose a postman as a main character of the film
because A postman visits hundreds of lives for 10 seconds at a time when they deliver the mail . The
postman was visiting all the dreaming worlds that were presented in the series and he was dreaming
up the fantastic lives for the people he meets there. There is a parallel that can be drawn between the

Causes And Consequences Of An Abusive Relationship
One in three women, and one in seven men, will become victims of severe violence by and intimate
partner in their lifetime (Vagianos2014). Chances are you know someone who is being abused but you
aren t aware of it. The commonly posed question is what would cause someone to stay in an abusive
relationship. There are many reasons for not leaving, but the most common reason is fear. For many
victims it seems financially impossible, or they still hold out hope that their partner will change.
Almost all of the victims have been told that if they leave there will be worse repercussions for them
and any children involved. The primary causes for staying in an abusive relationship are fear of
leaving because of finances, and fear that they will be found after they escape and guilt. In addition
children who witness domestic violence are more likely to mimic the behavior witnessed as adults.
It is common for abusers to keep their victims financially dependent. These victims are kept on an
allowance or have to ask for money. It is also very common in these cases for the abusive partner to
ruin the victim s credit by creating debt in their name and not paying for it. Without adequate credit it
is impossible to get an apartment, even if you have a job with decent pay. Account numbers,
passwords, credit cards are all kept hidden from these victims (Salamon, 2014). Even if they get the
courage to leave, how will they survive? Affordable housing is hard to find particularly in large

Tax File Memorandum
To: Brett Ouray
Facts
Kathy and Brett Ouray were married in 1996. In 2014, they consider themselves completely estranged.
Due to financial reasons they have decided to not get a divorce or live separately. They also do not
have any legal documentation of separation and neither of them has lived outside the home for a
significant amount of time. They currently reside together with their three children. They have decided
that Brett has contributed more to the upkeep of their home and children than Kathy. They have also
decided to file separately. Brett believes he is eligible to file for head of household.

The joint liability could cause issues for both parties if there were more tax liabilities or an audit was
found in the IRS s favor. When a joint return is filed personal exemptions are allowed for both spouses
and exemptions for dependents can be claimed for all dependents.
The other option afforded to the Ouray s is to file separately as a married couple. Filing separately can
be advantages under special circumstances. However, if the couple was to file separately, there are
several restrictions. First being, that if one spouse cannot demonstrate more than one half of a child s
support is provided by them, a multiple support agreement must be filed. Next, if one taxpayer
itemizes their deductions they must both take itemized deduction and same goes if one person takes a
standard deduction, the other must as well. If filing status was to be separate, neither spouse can claim
the earned income credit and the credit for child and dependent care expenses. Next, no deduction is
allowed for the interest paid on educations loans, and only $1,500 of excess capital losses can be
claimed by each person.
From a tax planning perspective, more details would have to be known about the Ouray s expenses in
order to determine the best course of action. To address the original question of ability to file head of
household, Brett is unable to, because he is still married and living in same household as his

There has been for decades a religious belief waver as a parent you can sign and allow your child to

too. I look forward to digging deeper into this subject and finding what I believe is the right answer. At
that point I plan on delivering a great paper on what should be done! 3. My tentative question so far is,
Are Immunizations worth the risk? I really think this is a great question that can lead to a great
argument about the topic. Immunizations have prevented Measles, Small pox, Polio from gaining any
kind of foothold in the United States for decades. On the flipside as a nation there has been more cases
of special needs then ever before in history. Children have more allergies than ever before. Autism and
other special needs have more cases per year than ever before as well. Is there a link between theses
health issues and immunizations. I really hope that after doing more research into this subject I will be

The Positive And Negative Effects Of Barbie Dolls
The Positive and Negative Effects of Barbie Dolls in Society All around our world we are constantly
being told what we should act and be like for females and males. Barbie was born on March 9, 159 in
the American International Toy Fair in New York. The Barbie doll has been influencing young girls
ever since she was born. The Barbie doll have a huge influence on the way that girls perceive their
role in society and also on the way they develop. Barbie dolls in some way reflect and influence our
society values. Especially in our society today many views on the way Barbie dolls influence our
society are often negative and their ability to positively influence young females is often denied. The
Barbie Doll has been a cultural icon ever since it was first revealed. All over the world anyone can
recognize what Barbie look like and what she symbolizes. The original design of the Barbie came up
when the creator, Ruth Handler, noticed a pattern of her daughter being attracted to a mature looking

version of a shapely, fashionable young woman doll (Maynard). Mattel s influence around the world
can be seen by the sales section on their Annual Report. In 2015 Barbie made Mattel a gross profit of
905.9 million dollars (Annual Report). Mattel is the number one toymaker in the world. The Barbie

Comparison of The Shining and Maus I Essay
The Shining is a 1977 horror novel by Stephen King that is based on events at the Overlook Hotel
where the Torrance family is snowed in for the winter which leads to some unfortunate events. Maus I:
a Survivor s Tale: My Father Bleeds History is a 1986 graphic novel by Art Spiegelman about the
story of his father during the Holocaust. Both of these novels are good stories that are filled with
episodes and events that are demonstrated differently. Although the plots of The Shining and Maus 1

plot is linear and sequential, and the use of stream of consciousness, foreshadowing, and flashbacks.

Transcendent Themes In Hamlet
Hamlet
Transcendent Themes in a Disinterested Age
Modernized versions of classic performances often run into the issue of being simply too long for a
modern audience to sit through, with the dangers of audiences simply being too bored in an age where
the average movie is about 110 minutes. By making decisions that appeal to the visual side of Hamlet
as opposed to altering the auditory work in any way Kenneth Branagh succeeds in maintaining both
artistic authenticity and audience in a way that has not been replicated in modern times. Hamlet,
released in 1996 starring and directed by Kenneth Branagh follows William Shakespeare s tragedy
precisely and successfully overcomes the risks by make the film more digestible for a modern
audience are with its imagery, themes, and line delivery, this success is showcased at it s most
masterful upon looking at the soliloquies that Hamlet delivers with his act 4 scene 4 soliloquy being
the pinnacle of mixing the source material and modern appeal.
Hamlet, as a stage play first performed in 1609 was limited by the technology of its day in terms of the
visuals it could provide its audience, however Kenneth Branagh s version had no such limitations and
took full advantage of the progressed technology in order to engross the audience. During the act 4

Poverty, A, And Education System, Police Brutality, Drugs...
Poverty, a faulty and inadequate education system, police brutality, drugs and violence are a few of the
issues that plague the community that raised me. At a very young age, I was exposed to all these social
issues and they have shaped and influenced who I am today. Being a victim to these issues, growing
up was not easy, but I always hoped that I could make a change. As a young Mexican American
woman, daughter of immigrant parents and victim to numerous social issues complicating my ability
to succeed, I was never sure how I would ever be able to accomplish anything, all I knew is that I
wanted to change my community for the better and to liberate it from oppression. Although I always
dreamed of making huge changes in community, I never knew how I would ever be able to change it
for the better.
Encouraged by my English teacher, one of the few teachers to ever talk to me about furthering my
education, I decided to apply to college during the fall of my senior year. I was reluctant to apply at
first because I was never able to envision myself being able to pursue a college education, as a high
school diploma was the highest educational level any of my family members ever obtained.

Essay on Legalize Performance Enhancing Drugs
Legalize Performance Enhancing Drugs in Sports
The most commonly discussed issue in sports of the 21st century is the use of performance enhancing
drugs by professional athletes. Over the past four years, it has been nearly impossible to turn on the
television without hearing something about athletes and these drugs. From former National League
MVP Third Baseman Ken Caminiti s admission of steroid use in an issue of Sports Illustrated
(Verducci, 2004) to 2006 Tour de France Champion Floyd Landis being stripped of title due to a failed
doping test (Blue, 2006) virtually every sport is involved. Are performance enhancing drugs a

Is it even reasonable to think that we could test athletes for changes in their actual DNA?
In the days when steroids were only being used by body builders and professional wrestlers, stories
about performance enhancing drugs could only be found on the back pages of the newspapers. When
former Oakland Raiders All Pro Lyle Alzado admitted to steroid use in a 1991 Sports Illustrated article
the whispers about what professional athletes were using steroids began to get louder. (Puma, 2005)
Finally, in 2002, when Caminiti, a former MVP, came clean, two things were clear; athletes in all
sports were using these drugs, and that they worked. The fact that steroid use had permeated our
national pastime combined with the media explosion of the internet and 24 hour a day sports talk
created a perfect storm which created the biggest sports story of the new millennium so far. However,

Developing A New Generation Of Empowered And Informed...
Education is an incredibly important resource to help create a new generation of empowered and
informed individuals, which can lead to improvements in overcoming inequality or poverty. Without
receiving education, children are being excluded from opportunities to better their future and current
situation, which is especially critical for impoverished families or marginalized groups. However, the
current education system throughout most of the continent seems to exclude the people who need it
the most. While many countries claim free primary education, 44% families still have some form of
payments to schools, with an average fee of $4.16 per year per child. This is excluding the fact that
many families do not send their children to schools ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kenya in particular faces difficulty in getting universal primary and secondary education. Youth
unemployment is around 20% for people age 15 16 in Kenya, and in 2009 of the people working, 84%
had informal jobs, making them vulnerable workers. These issues can be prevented for the future by
making sure that all children have access to strong educational foundation through primary and
secondary schools to then go on to tertiary and university to reinvest into their communities. Strides
have been made such as making enrollment free, which led to many new students, but one million
children are still out of school in Kenya. While this policy has made some accomplishment, children
in less developed areas such as slums or informal settlements, do not have an equal access to public
free schooling and instead go to private schools with low fees. This has led to an increase in the
privatizing of education in Kenya. Over 60% of Nairobi s children attend these private schools, which
can put extreme strain on a low income family. The public schools themselves have questionable
quality, with the government no longer receiving tuition money to invest in the schools and relying on
taxes. There is a lack of teachers, and due to lack of funds in 2015 many Kenyan teachers went on
strike for not getting paid. Also there is concern over the quality, as public primary education 45% of
students qualified

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Database System
Although the database system yields considerable advantages over previous data management
approaches, database systems do carry certain disadvantages. Such as:
1. Increased costs:
Database Systems are in requirement of hardware as well as software of a sophisticated nature, along
side personnel who are deemed highly skilled. the cost of maintenance of the personnel, the hardware
the software, required for the operation and management of a Database Management System may be
considerable. regulation licensing, compliance training costs are many at times looked over on the
implementation of the Database System.
a.) Cost of Hardware Software:
A processor capable of processing data at high speed, as well as, a sizeable memory are the
prerequisites which are required in order to execute the DBMS software. this implies that one has to

Leon Yacher Essay
When Leon Yacher was young, his father spent about five years traveling all over Peru. Through this,
Yacher was introduced to different areas and cultures and landscapes. He learned that there were
different places, that not every area was the same. Looking back, Dr. Yacher believes these early
travels to have planted seeds of curiosity and interest inside him. These seeds experienced a growth
spurt when he moved to the United States and attended the University of New Mexico. While there, he
took a geography class taught by Professor Richard Murphy that sparked his interest in geography and
changed his life. Today, Dr. Yacher is one of the most eclectic geographers, having traveled to the
cities of more than 150 countries. When he enters a city, he immediately begins to search for
commonalities and differences, what makes this city unique and how it is like every other city in the
world. Because he is not interested in the superficial, he stays away from any tourist attractions,
choosing to sleep in local boarding houses rather than hotels so as to build a relationship with the city.

Rush Hour Tokyo By Joy Kogawa Summary
The poem I have selected is Rush Hour Tokyo by Joy Kogawa. This poem explores the city of Tokyo,
which is located in Japan. Tokyo is known for its bullet trains, landmarks such as the Tokyo Tower and
the Tokyo Sky tree, and being very busy.Subject Matter The poem represents Tokyo as a city that is
over populated, which leads to congestion but the population keeps growing. The poem explores
Tokyo in relation to its congestion and quality of life. The persona s attitude to the city is best
described as negative as evidenced by using a negative tone, the use of metaphors to describe her
negative feeling to the cities and the majority of negative adjectives. Themes Joy Kogawa uses her
description of the city to explore broader themes such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and assonance. This poem is in one stanza and has no punctuation. The subject matter is that Tokyo is
congested and never stops growing in population. The theme of the poem is that you don t know what

experienced rush hour in Tokyo before, so I wanted to see how Joy Kogawa explained it. After reading
this poem, I was glad to have not been in rush hour at Tokyo before, and I also felt strong sympathy
for the people who have to go through that every day. After reading this poem, I thought about how
grateful and lucky I was not to be shoved on a train and packed like sardines with other strangers. This
poem influenced a new perspective of Tokyo by making me think that under all of the beautiful and
the iconic landmarks, and technology, Japan still cannot solve the trouble of people suffering everyday

Movie Smoke Signals By Sherman Alexie And Chris Eyre
The Truth According to Who Writer Sherman Alexie and director Chris Eyre explore the relationship
between truth and fiction in storytelling and the complexities of the Indian oral tradition in the movie
Smoke Signals. The movie Smoke Signals follows two young Indian men, Victor and Thomas, on a
journey to Phoenix, AR. to pick up the ashes of Victor s father. Along the way many stories are told
and truth is often hard to detect. Sherman Alexie and Chris Eyre reveal subtleties important to the
understanding of the oral tradition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In another layer of story telling the details do not matter but the truthful representation of an idea is
what is critical. In a scene where Victor and Irene are talking about Victors trip Irene is making fry
bread. Irene says of her method of making fry bread I don t just make it by myself you know, I got the
recipe from your grandmother and she got it from her grandmother and I listen to people when they
eat my bread. (Smoke Signals) Like stories, recipes are handed down from generation to generation
and blended and changed as they are retold or remade. In this way we can see how stories and recipes
are analogous, both represent the oral tradition. While preserving the past they become something
new, not exactly the same but fundamentally the same expression of an idea. The exact recipe for fry
bread and the exact details of a story are not what is important just that they faithfully express the
idea. Irene acknowledges the foundation of her successful recipe but blended in new ideas and came to
make the best fry bread. Sherman Alexie adds a layer of complexity to the film by letting symbolism
tell a separate story within some scenes. Cultural sovereignty and oppression are themes that run
through out Smoke Signals. Many strong symbols elude to this in the scene when Vincent and Thomas
are in the office of the police chief

Alcibiades Speech
By using Socrates as an overarching metaphor of Eros itself, Alcibiades speech takes the ideal praises
of Eros in the other speeches and demonstrates the manifestation of the ideologies that are present in
the human condition. Alcibiades speech encompasses the flaws of humanity and that his lived
experience validated the ideals of eros while also providing examples of practical application. The
first section of Alcibiades speech likens Socrates to a statue of Silenus and the satyr Marsyas. The
comparison of Socrates to the statue of Silenus full of tiny statues of the gods directly parallels him to
the gods so that Socrates embodies Eros itself (Sym. 215B). Alcibiades also claims that while Marsyas
needs an instrument and divine melodies in order to possess humans to reveal those people who are
ready for the god and his mysteries, Socrates is able to do this but with words alone (Sym. 215c).
Alcibiades sees the beauty and compelling nature of Socrates mind and the unrelenting pull that
Socrates has on man, woman, or child which he uses to determine if one is capable to comprehend
philosophy (Sym. 215d). The height at which Alcibiades holds Socrates supports Phaedrus position
that the lover is more godlike than his boy being that he is inspired by a god (12 180b). ADD
TRANSITION (develop this idea a little bit more. Not sure how, but it would be a good idea to do).

Different Subjective Assessment Of Quality Of Living
1.7.1 Mercer s Quality of living
Quality of Living, for the purposes Mercer s survey, analysis, and city rankings, differs from quality of
life. Unlike subjective assessment of Quality of life, Mercer s criteria for Quality of Living are
objective, neutral and unbiased. It measures the quality of living for expatriates based on 39 criteria
grouped into 10 key categories (Mercer, 2011). Each category is weighed to reflect its importance for
overall quality of living. They assess the degree to which expatriates enjoy the standard of living in
each host location, factoring in the interaction of political, socio economic and environmental factors.

Discrimination Based On Gender And Gender Discrimination
INTRODUCTION: Gender discrimination, also known as sexism, refers to prejudice or discrimination
based on sex and/ or gender, as well as conditions or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles
based on gender (Women and Gender Discrimination). Sexism is a social injustice that is not applied
only to women but, to men as well. Certain personalities and characteristics are expected from both
genders starting as children. Little girls are expected to play with dolls, while little boys are expected
to play rough. These small seeds planted into children over time grow, and produce the men and
women who make up society. In psychology you have a term called norm, a norm is an unwritten role,
or expectation for how a group should behave (Pastorino, 2013). Men and women both make up
separate groups. In each group norms have been formed on how members of the group should conduct
themselves. Masculinity is often associated with competition, emotional detachment, aggression and
violence ( Gender Issues in the Media ). Femininity is associated with softness, vulnerability, and
being able to submit to men. Needless to say, norms are not always correct or right. When you have
people within a group who do not comply with the norms presented, then sexism comes into play.
Both men and women can experience sexism though majority of the criticism is focused towards
women. Women and men are expected to pose certain characteristics and if they aren t then they are

Our Founding Fathers Effect on the Past, Present, and...
In the beginning, the nation s Founders were profoundly skeptical of direct democracy. They believed
that the follies of direct democracy far outweighed any virtues it might possess (Politics in American
pg. 76). According to an essay by Rose Wilder Lane (Lane, 1943), George Washington, Thomas
Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, James Madison, and James Monroe feared democracy.
The founders believed that the Constitution left all other governmental powers to the states (Politics in
American 2009 pg. 133). Our Founding Fathers never intended for America to become a democracy.
Most of them had served in the American Revolution, either as soldiers in the Continental Army or as
part of a legislative body. After the Revolutionary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, the new constitution was written to protect the people from a democracy. The Founding
Fathers had learned from the past that a democracy was a form of lawless mob rule. They saw that the
ancient Greeks tried a true democracy that had failed and led to chaos. A true democracy would not
run efficiently or properly. The Founding Fathers saw our Government as a Republic (McManus
2001). They were realists who believed in limited government and low taxes. Their ideal was to build
a unique structure of government to put into action their beliefs in nationalism, limited government,
and separation of powers with check and balances, and judicial reviews. The Founding Fathers wanted
to generate a strong government while ensuring that the government would not become a threat to
liberty or property. It was also decided that the legislative branch should consist of two houses. So a
new constitution was drawn up and once ratified, the process of organizing a new government began.
On September 13, 1788, Congress determined that the city of New York should be the seat of the new
government. The capital was moved Philadelphia in 1790 and to Washington D.C. in the year 1800
where it remains today (Lawler 2010). The process for the creation of the new government continued
when George Washington was unanimously elected the first president, and John Adams of
Massachusetts, the vice president. Adams

Should Animal Testing Be Used Only For Medical Research
Should animal testing be used only for medical purposes in New Zealand?
By Jihad Mohd Erfino
Introduction:
Animal testing is one of the most controversial scientific issues debated around the world. It questions
the right of wild animals to be used in commercial, cosmetics and even for medical research purposes.
Although it happens in most of the world (including New Zealand) today, many question whether it
should go on. Animal testing is generally the use of animals for different purposes in lab conditions.
Brief history of animal testing and achievements: Animal testing has existed since the 2nd century
BCE through the work of Greek scientist Aristotle (Animal testing Wikipedia). He was the first one to
have made experiments on live animals. The first animal testing experiments was to find out how our
bodies work. For example, the discovery of blood circulation in mammals was discovered in the 12th
century by Arabic scientist Ibn Al Nafis and this was refined later in the 17th century by William
Harvey. Animal testing has also played a vital role in human medical advances. It has helped
developed vaccines to cure diseases such as polio which has almost been eradicated. It has also have
helped humans to have a better understanding of our bodily mechanisms, function and several
diseases. Some diseases that cannot be cured yet can be treated better due to animal testing
discoveries.

Through the black train exhaust smoke pouring out of a large hole at the bottom of the Hoosac

The technological progression is astounding since the tools, resources, and knowledge of mountain

within the states of Germany, then a Frenchman living in England invented a tunnel shield, and an
American discovered the resourcefulness of using compressed air to prevent water from going into
tunnels that were being dug underground. As mining and tunneling progressed, the industrial need for
developing efficient tools and processes continued to grow as outdated processes continuously failed.
The Hoosac Tunnel was no exception, but because of the magnitude of the project it generated a lot of
interest which resulted in innovation and many experimental machines were created with a goal in
mind, to remove a section of the work in one application by slicing ...one or more concentric grooves

protect their children from what they deem inappropriate, and that censorship of anything (particularly
in movies and TV) is simply a parental tool for escaping blame. In the climax of the film the parents
sing a song whose words are meant to blame Canada before anyone blames the parents for their poor
parenting skills. It is also seen that a couple abandons their baby in the enthusiasm to join the other
parents in singing.
Much of the film s satire and many of the songs depict how people refuse to accept responsibility and
the tendency to look for someone else to blame .It should be noted in the film movies, government,
society, foreigners, and Satan are all blamed leading Kyle to remark: whenever I get in trouble, you go
off and blame everybody else. But I m the one to blame. Deal with me.

Jon Krakauer s Into Thin Air
The particular descent ahead of those on the hill on May 10, 1996, resulted in the greatest loss of life
in the history of mountaineering on Everest. As news spread of the nine deaths (including that of Hall,
who spoke to his wife in New Zealand by radiophone as he lay stranded in a snowstorm on the summit
ridge), a barrage of questions resounded: What went wrong? Why was the approaching storm ignored?
And, most emphatically, why are tourists with more money than expertise being taken up Everest in
the first place?
Jon Krakauer was one of the survivors, and in Into Thin Air he relives the storm and its aftermath,
trying to answer those questions. As he sees it, essentially nothing went wrong, at least in terms of the
storm, which struck with little warning. Instead, the root of the problem lies in the famous explanation
George Mallory gave when asked why he wanted to climb the mountain, an explanation that still holds
true, albeit with a slight amendment. People climb Mount Everest because it and the money is there.

the french food waste bill, that has come into law earlier this year. This is an illustration of how one
ethical value has overcome another in order for government to deal with the national food waste. In
this report we will be analysing the decisions and actions of the main actors Arash Derambarsh and
Guillaume Garot and how their ethical view s affected the government s actions on edible food waste.
In the early 2000 s, Derambarsh began his law degree and found it increasingly difficult to feed
himself and it was very common for students who had only four hundred euros a month after rent to
find themselves hungry. 2010, Derambarsh started to grow awareness towards hunger in France, so he
started campaigning against the wastage of food in his local area (Froelich, 2015). He now represents
the Paris Commune of Courbevoie and believes that edible food being wasted is, scandalous and
absurd , when there are still hungry citizens in France needing this such as the homeless, poor and
unemployed (Froelich, 2015). Derambarsh often was insulted and abused for having an idealistic
mindset over this ethical dilemma. Although his main focus was helping the people, because

The Third Artefact For My Portfolio
The third artefact for my portfolio was Assignment 3 in course Mdde 605, titled: Globe Driving
Academy Business Plan. Its purpose was to identify a business structure from the strategic plan and
multi year strategic goals and to reflect the potential for growth. Students were expected to include
financial plans and a balanced scorecard reflecting and measuring an organization s success. This 43
page document covered everything from Business visions, motivation product services, marketing
schemes, governance process, to the Financial Plan for a for profit company which was going to
implement e learning as the next major step to stand out in the industry. Competencies and Reflection
The assignment itself was lengthy and took me a very long time to complete it. Not having a
background in business the most challenging part was doing research on a projected financial plan. It
was with a help of a charted accountant that I was able to accomplish this with actual numbers from
my workplace so all the information is based on true numbers. He taught me how to gather
information on company s projected sales, factors contributing to losses, projected profit, and
comparing with actual profit. This way, it is possible to predict of it is worth investing before investing
and starting new projects in the company. In the end, I was pleased with the final product despite the
frustration of reading multiple business plans, tackling the numbers and understating the swot

Social Variables Of Race, Gender, Class And Health
Sociology, according to Giddens Sutton (2010) is still vibrant, has a wider range and is exciting
academic enterprise in the 21st century. Sociology today is different from that of 1950s and 1980s, this
is because it is currently more diverse both theoretical and in terms of its subject matter. It has for
instance incorporated more areas of social life using specialized fields of inquiry (Giddens Sutton,
2010). Browne (2005) argues that sociology in simpler terms is planned and organized study of human
groups and social life in modern societies, more so concerned with social institution. Contribution of
sociologist in understanding human behavior is remarkable. The aim of this paper is to explain how
sociologist views the relationship between the key social variables of race, gender, class and health.
The relationship between key social variables of race, gender, class and health is important for
sociologist. Intersection of race, class and gender can help predict health related outcomes. According
to Henslin (2014) sociologist stress the need to use sociological imagination in understanding how
personal troubles are related to changes in society. This sociological perspective makes people aware
of how social context influences things such as ideas behaviors and personal troubles. This also
introduces the idea of social problems and its characteristics in society which sociologist believe that
that it has both objective and subjective condition , are dynamic in nature

Compare And Contrast The Outsiders In The Outsiders
Have you ever felt like you didn t fit in? Like you were an outcast in your society. That you didn t fit
in with anyone in the group or even your society. In the outsiders it shows how some people just don t
fit in with a crowd. The novel is The Outsiders and the author is S.E Hinton. Even 50 years after it s
release the outsiders theme of the society/class and violences are still uncannily similar in our modern
society.
Even 50 years after it s release the outsiders theme of the society/class and violences are still
uncannily similar to our modern society. The Greasers and the Socs are different when it comes to our
society/class. The Society/Class is one of the major reasons why Socs and Greasers always fight.
Society/Class makes them think of each other are nothing alike and they actually have things in
common. The Socs are prepped who, according to Ponyboy, Jump greasers and wreck houses and
throw beer blasts for kicks, and gets editorial in the paper for being a public disgrace one day and
asset to society the next (Hinton, pg. 3).The Socs love picking on the greasers and starting fights yet,
they are a Upper class out of the two. Society views the Socs as rich and classy, and the greasers
agree. In the texts Ponyboy says Greasers are almost like hoods, we steal things and drive old souped
up cars and hold up gas stations and have gang fights once in a while (Hinton, pg. 3). When our
society decides whether or not you re in an upper class or lower class when it comes to what job do
they work at, or even what s their salary and where they live. In the Outsiders the Socs and Greasers
didn t get along because they both were on different sides of the track. The Socs were on West (rich)
side and Greasers East (poor) side. This doesn t only relate to the Outsiders, but to reality because
everybody stereotypes someone from their appearances which leads to what Society/Class you are in.
Society/Class is one of the huge parts in the Outsiders and in everybody Society . But can lead to
some serious violences which brings danger to our society.
Even 50 years after it s release the outsiders theme of the society/class and violences are still
uncannily similar to our modern society. Violences wasn t really a

Perfect Marriage In Kate Hemingway s Hills Like White...
Looking from the Inside
Anne and Ted have been married for 25 years, dated for 10 and have 3 kids together. On the outside it
looks like have the picture perfect marriage. One day he packed up his things and left their home and
relationship of over 30 years with no explanation whatsoever. Couples will think the world of their
spouse and build their lives around them only to be disregarded when it suits them. Spouses are left
wondering what had happened that made their partners walked out on them after all they have been
through and the sacrifices both may have made. This is the time they realized they do not know their
partners as they thought they did and all the sacrifices made was not enough to keep them. This is
exhibited in the story The Storm by Kate Chopin where a couple seems to have a perfect marriage, but
the wife then she cheats on her husband with her ex lover. Then they returned to their normal lives not
telling neither of their partner about the adultery they committed. In Ernest Hemingway s Hills Like
White Elephants a couple is having a heated argument about the woman going for an abortion and
how that would ease the tension in their relationship that the pregnancy had brought. Calixta s
cheating in The Storm sheds light on Hemingway s Hills Like White Elephants helping me understand
people s willingness to take risks to sustain relationships, how difficult humans are to please and how
unknowingly people live in lies. People are ready to take risks

Macrohih2a1 Case Study
MacroH2A1.1 overexpressing cells display ameliorated glucose metabolism, 214 reduced expression
of lipogenic genes and fatty acid content (40). These associative 215 studies indicate a possible
conserved involvement of macroH2A1 isoforms, in lipid 216 metabolism. A number of mechanistic
studies using animal have explored this 217 possibility, yielding conflicting outcomes (Table II). Two
mouse models with a 218 macroH2A1 knockout have been reported under a standard diet feeding. In
the first 219 model, generated in the pure C57Bl/6J background, developmental changes in 220
macroH2A1 mediated gene regulation were observed (42): up regulation of 221 lipogenic genes was
detected in the liver of the knockout mice (42), which displayed 222 ... Show more content on

The changes in lipogenic gene expression 226 have subsequently been associated with differential
physical occupancy of the gene 227 body by macroH2A1 (42, 43). In the second model, knockout of
macroH2A1 in a 228 mixed background led to a variable hepatic lipid accumulation in 50% of the 229
females (44). In this model, the X linked thyroxine binding globulin (Tbg) gene was 230 found to be
upregulated in steatotic livers. Tbg is the main carrier of the thyroid 231 hormone T4 (thyroxine), a
major regulator of energy metabolism, which could be 232 responsible for the enhanced fat
accumulation. Enrichment of macroH2A1 at the 233 Tbg promoter in female animals indicated that
increased Tbg expression in 234 macroH2A1 knockout mice could be a direct consequence of the
absence of this 235 histone (44). In contrast, our analysis of the in vivo role of macroH2A1 in
response to 236 nutritional excess led us to discover that genetic eviction of macroH2A1 confers 237
protection against high fat diet induced obesity and metabolic derangements in 238 mice (45).
Together, these mice studies did not address the role of the single 239 macroH2A1 isoforms; moreover
if these histone variants can impact energy 240 turnover in extra hepatic depots, was unknown until
recently. In the skeletal 241

Why Was Ray Charles So Popular
Have you ever wanted to go deeper into learning about musical entertainers from the past? All of the
types of music we have today came from people deeper in history. Ray Charles is one of many
musical entertainers that created a different type of music. One reason he was so popular was because
he combined many types of music to create an enjoyable sound for everyone.I chose Ray Charles
because I wanted to learn more about why he was so popular in the 1940s 1970s and how he
influenced music. In this essay I am going to talk about Ray Charles s childhood, family, and
entertaining career.
Ray Charles had a rough childhood growing up. On www.biography.com it stated , Ray Charles

his famous Georgia on My MInd, which later became the official song of the state of Georgia. Ray

Grammy awards from a national studio for arts and science. Charles gave two million dollars to
Wilberforce University, which they greatly appreciated. The universities both gave Charles honorary
degrees for what he had given to them. He also received a Kennedy Center honor award in 1986. Ray
also got married to the former Della Altwine and had three children.Charles s final album was called
Genius Loves Company and was released two months after he had died. He was also invited to Las

Respect and Integrity in the Military Essay
Respect and integrity, what really do those mean? I could look up those words in the Oxford English
Dictionary or Websters, or Dictionary.com and give a scientific, perscise and exact answer to these
words. And while that tells you what they mean, does that really give their meaning. Well by
Dictionary.com s standards respect is a noun that means to hold in esteem or honor, and to show
regard or consideration for. And Dictionary.com says that integrity means an adherence to moral and
ethical principles; soundness of moral character, honesty, and the state of being whole, entire, or
undiminished as to morality. The Army on the other hand has their own, similar, but specific
definitions for these words, they call values, and are one of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Army Value views respect as something that is just between people, yet at the same time it is also
something that is between offices. Each rank is expected to show a certain respect for the ranks above
them. In some units a private is expected respect a specialist, while both show respect for their
sergeants. This has less to do with the specific people then it does with their experience and respect
and of their peers and the people who are situated over them. As soldier we respect the ranks that are
above us because their peers and other higher Sergeants have seen something in them. Some form of
leadership, or the craftsmanship and mastery of their job that they have found some respect for them,
and decided that they deserve to be honored for it. These are people who have seen many soldiers, and
been in the Army long enough to recognize these traits in a person, and other people should respect
that. Not just because of the office they hold but because of their experience that led them to that
office. The Army has kind of got it right, in a way. They view respect as a way that we should act
towards each other and treat each other. But Respect is still so much more then that. You can not
respect just a person, or a rank, or a position, but also someones experience that has led them to where
they are. Its more about feelings

Quintus Horatius Flaccus
The poet Horace is how the English knew him, but his birth name is Quintus Horatius Flaccus, he was
born in Italy in the little town of Venusia near the border of Apulia and Luciana, whence likes to
describes himself as Lucanus an Apulus anceps man on December 8, 65 B.C. An important difference
to annotate is Horace s father was an Italian freedman (a former slave who has been released from
slavery), but he did not get to experience that life style. For he was born free. Horace expresses how
his father was a man of a few acres, but refuses to send him to the local school where all the boys went
instead he work hard to send him to the best and exclusive school in Rome the Grammaticus Orbilius,
where the knights and senators would send their first born. After the school in Rome as young man
Horace went to study in a famous school in Athens, his focus was in literature and philosophy; this
was equivalent to a university. In 44 B.C., when the Civil war broke, he risks his life to help ... Show

A Reflection On The Lost Palace Of Sparta
A REFLECTION ON MY NEWS STORY
When I googled on the Internet about a news story relating to Classical Studies, I happened to found
an interesting article on The Lost Palace of Sparta Possibly Uncovered in Live Science. My main
reason for choosing this news story was because I have always been interested in Late Bronze Age
Mycenaean
Civilization, since Mycenaean culture appears to be connected with Homer s Iliad s Trojan War.
Secondly, I took a course on Classical Archaeology as an undergraduate student in Classics.
Therefore, I studied the nineteenth century archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann and his excavation of
Agamemnon s palace and his gold mask at Mycenae inspired me very much. For me, the most striking
aspect of my news story was the Linear B tablets found on the site. Ghose (2015) stated that the
inscriptions represented the earliest form of the Greek language. Although the fire baked the tablets,
the fascinating writings on these Linear B tablets discussed clearly the centralized distribution of
goods like wool and grain, noted (Killgrove 2015). These inscriptions on the Linear B tablets give the
readers a history of palatial events in the Mycenaean period.
Yes, I was thinking about doing an article from the Ottawa Citizen about Ancient Menoral Roman
Treasure, but I did not know very much about the Gothic King Alaric. Therefore, I chose The Lost
Palace of Sparta Possibly Uncovered instead, because I have studied Homer s Iliad, Classical
Archaeology,

body with small shoulders, long arms, long legs, huge ears, pointy nose, and his huge green eyes, But

  • 2. Corporate Crime Is A Victimless Crime Corporate Crime The question before our society is not whether corporate crime is a victimless crime, rather the question is what should be done about it? Corporate crime doesn t just do harm to the investors that can be unknowingly damaged by these crimes, it has a much more insidious nature to it as it has done harm on global scales. Corporate crime is almost a misnomer because many of these criminal wrongdoings are for the most part legal, when not taken to their ultimate conclusion. Society within the United States has been taught that the man in the brief case, yelling at other men in dark coats on the flow of the stock exchange are the smartest guys in the room. • 3. The Breakdown Of The Traditional Family Division Of... During the late 20th century, the world has witnessed all sorts of social and technological changes due to globalisation (Bologun, Sutherland and Oswick, 2015). In fact, the breakdown of the traditional family division of labour, instant communication through technology, and the increased complexity of organisational objectives have favour gender equality and diversity. Those changes have pressure companies to improve their work structure to be more competitive and to the extent that the idea of an effective leadership has come under pressure to change too. Indeed, organisations have become less hierarchical and more decentralised networks where the traditional source of power erode, and talents instead of nepotism are rewarded (Klein, ... However, women manifest more concern for an interpersonal relationship than men (Eagly and Johannesen‐Schmidt, 2001). Moreover, using Blake and Mouton (1964) framework, women show a more democratic (or participative) style, which facilitates collaboration, and less autocratic (or directive) style, that don t enhance followers creativity. Thus, according to the contemporary standard, women manifested more appropriate traits for being an effective leader. Furthermore, Eagly and Carli (2003) also conclude that female leader were more transformational and applied contingent reward behaviours which is one of transactional leadership component. Conversely, male leaders were more likely to involve two other aspects of transactional leadership which are active management by exception (waiting for a follower s mistake to corrected it) and passive management by exception (waiting for issues to become severe before solving it). Men also show a relatively high interest in laissez faire leadership. That different categorization of leadership style became popular by Burns in 1978 and then Bass in 1985. Qualitative Data Evaluation To analyze the results of evaluation, the evaluators will undertake a robust analysis to identify whether or not there are any differences in patient characteristics and treatments provided by the six Victorian hospitals to Aboriginal people and non Aboriginal people. The qualitative data will be transcribed and analyzed by using NVivo software based on the evaluation frameworks. Whereas the quantitative data would be assessed by using SPSS in order to measure the impacts of the policy directions, funding, workforce competencies and performance to facilitate the change in service delivery. To strengthen the validity of findings, we also conduct triangulation that will help to compare the qualitative data based on the opinion of key stakeholders and quantitative data from any sources. After completing data analysis, we will conduct a consultation with key stakeholders to discuss the preliminary findings, to establish any conclusions, and then to identify a possible improvement for strengthening the evidence. To eliminate the possible bias in justifying a conclusion, we will conduct some reflection by involving Aboriginal people. f. Chances are you know someone who is being abused but you aren t aware of it. The commonly posed question is what would cause someone to stay in an abusive relationship. There are many reasons for not leaving, but the most common reason is fear. For many victims it seems financially impossible, or they still hold out hope that their partner will change. Almost all of the victims have been told that if they leave there will be worse repercussions for them and any children involved. The primary causes for staying in an abusive relationship are fear of leaving because of finances, and fear that they will be found after they escape and guilt. In addition children who witness domestic violence are more likely to mimic the behavior witnessed as adults. It is common for abusers to keep their victims financially dependent. These victims are kept on an allowance or have to ask for money. It is also very common in these cases for the abusive partner to ruin the victim s credit by creating debt in their name and not paying for it. Without adequate credit it is impossible to get an apartment, even if you have a job with decent pay. Account numbers, passwords, credit cards are all kept hidden from these victims (Salamon, 2014). I decided to base all my research on Immunizations because I really think I can deliver a good paper on this subject. I have wanted to dig into the controversy about immunizations for a while now. The climax happens in chapter forty eight which is only ten chapters till the end and forty eight leading to it. The falling action is just the chasing and attempt of murder of Wendy and Danny by Jack and the boiler exploding. There is a lot more rising action than falling action. The conclusion is just Wendy, Danny, and Holloran getting away from the hotel after the explosion and a flash forward of where they are. In Maus I: a Survivor s Tale: My Father Bleeds History, the plot is not linear and sequential because it is a story within a story. At a very young age, I was exposed to all these social issues and they have shaped and influenced who I am today. Being a victim to these issues, growing up was not easy, but I always hoped that I could make a change. As a young Mexican American woman, daughter of immigrant parents and victim to numerous social issues complicating my ability to succeed, I was never sure how I would ever be able to accomplish anything, all I knew is that I wanted to change my community for the better and to liberate it from oppression. Although I always dreamed of making huge changes in community, I never knew how I would ever be able to change it for the better. Encouraged by my English teacher, one of the few teachers to ever talk to me about furthering my education, I decided to apply to college during the fall of my senior year. The fact that steroid use had permeated our national pastime combined with the media explosion of the internet and 24 hour a day sports talk created a perfect storm which created the biggest sports story of the new millennium so far. Youth unemployment is around 20% for people age 15 16 in Kenya, and in 2009 of the people working, 84% had informal jobs, making them vulnerable workers. These issues can be prevented for the future by making sure that all children have access to strong educational foundation through primary and secondary schools to then go on to tertiary and university to reinvest into their communities. Strides have been made such as making enrollment free, which led to many new students, but one million children are still out of school in Kenya. While this policy has made some accomplishment, children in less developed areas such as slums or informal settlements, do not have an equal access to public free schooling and instead go to private schools with low fees. This has led to an increase in the privatizing of education in Kenya. Over 60% of Nairobi s children attend these private schools, which can put extreme strain on a low income family. The public schools themselves have questionable quality, with the government no longer receiving tuition money to invest in the schools and relying on taxes. • 28. Alcibiades Speech By using Socrates as an overarching metaphor of Eros itself, Alcibiades speech takes the ideal praises of Eros in the other speeches and demonstrates the manifestation of the ideologies that are present in the human condition. Alcibiades speech encompasses the flaws of humanity and that his lived experience validated the ideals of eros while also providing examples of practical application. The first section of Alcibiades speech likens Socrates to a statue of Silenus and the satyr Marsyas. The comparison of Socrates to the statue of Silenus full of tiny statues of the gods directly parallels him to the gods so that Socrates embodies Eros itself (Sym. 215B). Alcibiades also claims that while Marsyas needs an instrument and divine melodies in order to possess humans to reveal those people who are ready for the god and his mysteries, Socrates is able to do this but with words alone (Sym. 215c). Alcibiades sees the beauty and compelling nature of Socrates mind and the unrelenting pull that Socrates has on man, woman, or child which he uses to determine if one is capable to comprehend philosophy (Sym. 215d). The height at which Alcibiades holds Socrates supports Phaedrus position that the lover is more godlike than his boy being that he is inspired by a god (12 180b). • 31. Discrimination Based On Gender And Gender Discrimination INTRODUCTION: Gender discrimination, also known as sexism, refers to prejudice or discrimination based on sex and/ or gender, as well as conditions or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on gender (Women and Gender Discrimination). Sexism is a social injustice that is not applied only to women but, to men as well. Certain personalities and characteristics are expected from both genders starting as children. Little girls are expected to play with dolls, while little boys are expected to play rough. These small seeds planted into children over time grow, and produce the men and women who make up society. In psychology you have a term called norm, a norm is an unwritten role, or expectation for how a group should behave (Pastorino, 2013). Men and women both make up separate groups. In each group norms have been formed on how members of the group should conduct themselves. Masculinity is often associated with competition, emotional detachment, aggression and violence ( Gender Issues in the Media ). Femininity is associated with softness, vulnerability, and being able to submit to men. Needless to say, norms are not always correct or right. • 34. Should Animal Testing Be Used Only For Medical Research Should animal testing be used only for medical purposes in New Zealand? By Jihad Mohd Erfino Introduction: Animal testing is one of the most controversial scientific issues debated around the world. It questions the right of wild animals to be used in commercial, cosmetics and even for medical research purposes. Although it happens in most of the world (including New Zealand) today, many question whether it should go on. Animal testing is generally the use of animals for different purposes in lab conditions. Brief history of animal testing and achievements: Animal testing has existed since the 2nd century BCE through the work of Greek scientist Aristotle (Animal testing Wikipedia). He was the first one to have made experiments on live animals. The first animal testing experiments was to find out how our bodies work. For example, the discovery of blood circulation in mammals was discovered in the 12th century by Arabic scientist Ibn Al Nafis and this was refined later in the 17th century by William Harvey. Railroad Tunnel Research Paper Through the black train exhaust smoke pouring out of a large hole at the bottom of the Hoosac Mountain Range, the date of 1877 slowly appears at the top of the East Portal facade of the Hoosac Tunnel. The hard work and determination of engineers and workers resulted in the creation of an American symbol for technological advancement in tunneling. The railroad tunnel passes through the towns of North Adams and Florida, Massachusetts, stretching 4.75 miles. The construction began in 1854 but after suffering many setbacks, the tunnel was finished and finally approved for train service in 1875. As mining and tunneling progressed, the industrial need for developing efficient tools and processes continued to grow as outdated processes continuously failed. It is also seen that a couple abandons their baby in the enthusiasm to join the other parents in singing. Much of the film s satire and many of the songs depict how people refuse to accept responsibility and the tendency to look for someone else to blame .It should be noted in the film movies, government, society, foreigners, and Satan are all blamed leading Kyle to remark: whenever I get in trouble, you go off and blame everybody else. Why was the approaching storm ignored? And, most emphatically, why are tourists with more money than expertise being taken up Everest in the first place? Jon Krakauer was one of the survivors, and in Into Thin Air he relives the storm and its aftermath, trying to answer those questions. As he sees it, essentially nothing went wrong, at least in terms of the storm, which struck with little warning. Instead, the root of the problem lies in the famous explanation George Mallory gave when asked why he wanted to climb the mountain, an explanation that still holds true, albeit with a slight amendment. • 40. The French Food Waste Bill Essay Trevino and Nelson define an ethical dilemma as a situation where two or more right values are in conflict (p. 39). When differing opinions from two separate parties meet often solutions can only benefit one group, where both cannot be satisfied. A relevant business story with an ethical dilemma is the french food waste bill, that has come into law earlier this year. This is an illustration of how one ethical value has overcome another in order for government to deal with the national food waste. In this report we will be analysing the decisions and actions of the main actors Arash Derambarsh and Guillaume Garot and how their ethical view s affected the government s actions on edible food waste. In the early 2000 s, Derambarsh began his law degree and found it increasingly difficult to feed himself and it was very common for students who had only four hundred euros a month after rent to find themselves hungry. 2010, Derambarsh started to grow awareness towards hunger in France, so he started campaigning against the wastage of food in his local area (Froelich, 2015). He now represents the Paris Commune of Courbevoie and believes that edible food being wasted is, scandalous and absurd , when there are still hungry citizens in France needing this such as the homeless, poor and unemployed (Froelich, 2015). Sociology today is different from that of 1950s and 1980s, this is because it is currently more diverse both theoretical and in terms of its subject matter. It has for instance incorporated more areas of social life using specialized fields of inquiry (Giddens Sutton, 2010). Browne (2005) argues that sociology in simpler terms is planned and organized study of human groups and social life in modern societies, more so concerned with social institution. Contribution of sociologist in understanding human behavior is remarkable. The aim of this paper is to explain how sociologist views the relationship between the key social variables of race, gender, class and health. The relationship between key social variables of race, gender, class and health is important for sociologist. Intersection of race, class and gender can help predict health related outcomes. According to Henslin (2014) sociologist stress the need to use sociological imagination in understanding how personal troubles are related to changes in society. Society views the Socs as rich and classy, and the greasers agree. In the texts Ponyboy says Greasers are almost like hoods, we steal things and drive old souped up cars and hold up gas stations and have gang fights once in a while (Hinton, pg. 3).
