Lancelot As A Hero In King Arthur And His Knight
Within any story, the hero must contain three integral qualities: he or she must be the apparent
protagonist of the novel, he or she must commit oneself to noble qualities and doings without
exception, and he or she must be figuratively or literally invisible.
In King Arthur His Knights, the three main contenders to be the hero of the story are Lancelot, King
Arthur, and Galahad. However, each has a fatal flaw that annuls their ability to become the hero, for
none of them adhere to all three qualities of a hero.
Lancelot has the most plausible chance to be the hero of the story. He exhibits two of the three
qualities needed to be the hero. He seems to be the protagonist because his existence is necessary for
the progression of the story, and he is literally invincible. He can easily destroy any foe that blocks
him from success from bouts with an invisible knight to bouts with up to 15 knights at once ().
Lancelot apparently exhibits the strong qualities of a knight, so why is he not the hero of the story? He
does not fit the heroic quality of committing himself to nobility. The notable example of this lack of
quality is his affair with Guinevere. In The Knight of the Cart Lancelot heroically rides to save
Guinevere, but later that night sleeps with her while committing treason against King Arthur (). Some
may excuse his actions with the belief that he is in love with Guinevere and Guinevere with him.
However, love does not always have to express with sex and thus

Amelia Earhart Characteristics Of Powerful Women
Characteristics of Powerful Women What do the following household names have in common?
Amelia Earhart, Rosa Parks, and Malala Yousafzai. Describing these women as powerful, strong,
brave, and revolutionary is just the tip of the iceberg. So what exactly makes them this way? Amelia
Earhart was the first female pilot to perform a solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean. Rosa Parks
refused to give in to the racist culture of the 1900 s by refusing to move to the back of the bus. Malala
Yousafzai was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her defiance of the Taliban and advocacy for female
education. She is the youngest person to ever receive the Nobel Peace Prize. There is no prerequisite
of fame or grand gestures to be a powerful woman. Power is an internal characteristic, not an award
from society. Here are some characteristics that powerful and strong women display.

Rejection Doesn t Ruin Them
Fear of rejection is a natural part of life. Rejection is a painful experience for whoever suffers through
it. Being rejected is a common human experience, although some people handle the pain better than
others. A strong woman knows that she needs to take the time to grieve her loss but she does not let it
overwhelm her life. She still will chase her goals, find new opportunities, and learn from her
experiences. When one door closes, another door opens.
3. Honest but not Over Trusting
Lies and dishonesty are a part of life. A strong woman has had her fair share of betrayals to know a
thing or two about trust. She knows that in her orchard, there will always be some bad apples. This
doesn t deter her and she does not try to lie to be different. She is honest about who she is but doesn t
wear her secrets on her sleeve. This characteristic saves her wasted time, money, and heartbreak.
Drama may consume her friends but she stays far away. When she wants to trust someone, she takes
her time to make the right

Essay about Pagan Aspects in Beowulf
Scholars have argued about the religious stance of the epic poem Beowulf for centuries. Although the
man who put the poem down on paper, known as the Beowulf poet, was a devout Christian, the actual
poem itself is pagan. There are many clues in the epic that lead us to this conclusion such as the
numerous references to pagan symbols, namely the symbol of fate. Also, the central idea of revenge in
the poem opposes the ideas of Christianity. The poem also contains many breaches of the Ten
Commandments, which prove that the story is not Christian. However, the biggest clue to the
paganism of Beowulf is the scene that contains the burial of Beowulf and the building and idolization
of the tower, all of which go directly against the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no evidence anywhere that leads us to believe that poison is part of the Christian religion,
again emphasizing the paganism of the poem. Although all of these are important pagan symbols that
lead us to believe that this poem is not Christian, probably the most significant pagan symbol is that of
fate. The idea of fate ruled the lives of the pagans. Their belief was that you were born with a fate, and
there was nothing that could change this destiny. This idea becomes apparent in Beowulf several
times. As Beowulf is dying he refers to his leaving this earth as just part of his destiny when he says
that [m]y days have gone by as fate willed (Norton 1604). The idea of fate is called on again when
Beowulf asks Wiglaf to succeed him as king of the Geats. He tells Wiglaf that he would have given
the honor to his son, if he had one, but fate did not allow it. We see a reference to fate a final time
when Wiglaf speaks of Beowulf after his death. He offers that as much as Beowulf s people tried to
convince him to leave well enough alone, to allow the monster to live on forever, there was no
changing Beowulf s destiny. Beowulf s [f]ate, and his will, [w]ere too strong (Norton 1611). Fate is
clearly a non Christian idea, and its presence in the poem helps the case for Beowulf being a pagan
story.
A huge theme in Beowulf is the revenge ethic that all of the characters possess. During the time in

The Effect Of Color On Testing Results
The Effect of Color on Testing Results Introduction Our experiment focused on testing scores. We
wanted to see whether the color of ink that was used on a test would affect a student s performance on
that test. We chose to conduct this experiment in the Sterling C. Evans Library to get a wide variety of
students to take the tests since it is the largest and most central library on campus. We felt that this
way the best way to attempt to limit the other variables that could affect our results. Our hypothesis
was that red ink would cause that student to do more poorly on the test than the student would have
done on a test with black ink. Our theory was that red ink would remind students of wrong answers on
previous assignments and create a feeling of stress and anxiety. We attempted to answer this question
by giving students of various genders, majors, and ages a test of medium difficulty in red and black
ink and analyzing the data to find out if their scores correlated with the ink color. In order to determine
whether there was a correlation between ink colors and test scores, we measured the students number
of wrong answers on the test, time taken on the test, stress level, age, classification, gender, GPA, and
college. We chose these measures because they yielded numerical values that could be statistically
assessed, and they account for any other variables that might play into the correlation. We measured
our results using descriptive statistics, using numbers to

Determination In The Bravest Girl In The World
Failure will never overtake me if my determination to succeed is strong enough Og Mandino. Og
Mandino is saying that if someone has a strong determination to succeed they will never fail.
Determination means a firm or fixed intention to achieve a desired end. The word determination is
from the Middle English, the Anglo French determiner, and from the Latin determinare. Synonyms are
used to help people better understand a word. The synonyms for determination include resolution,
decisiveness, and persistency. Hesitation, indecision, and irresoluteness are antonyms to the word
determination. People say in life if a person has determination they can accomplish anything. Malala

children. Throughout Grace s whole life she has seen and been through so much pain and suffering.
She escaped captivity though, and is now determined to help other kids like her. One reason she wrote
this book was to help raise awareness and get others to have the same determination as her to help
these poor children. These children are being forced to kill and others are forced to be a man s wife.

How Does Benvolio Aid The Montague Family
In the play Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare aided the Montague family by creating Benvolio, a
character that is peaceful, thoughtful and wise. Within this play, Benvolio is a very thoughtful and
wise individual who aids the Montagues tremendously. After the initial skirmish at the town square
Benvolio returns to the Montague household to give Lord and Lady Montague a report of what went

Pain During Pregnancy
Leg Pain during Pregnancy: Can it Be Serious?
Experiencing leg pain during pregnancy is normal. Major leg pain may indicate a more serious
medical condition. Here are five common causes of leg pain during pregnancy.
Sciatica
One of the most common causes of leg pain during pregnancy is sciatica. This can occur because of
weight gain, a heavy belly pulling on the back and the uterus pressuring the sciatic nerve. Sometimes
the baby s head will directly rest on the nerve itself. The sciatic nerve starts at the lower back and runs
down the back of each leg to the feet. This causes pain in the lumbar area and back of the legs. Leg
Cramps
While no one is certain why pregnant women are more likely to get leg cramps, some suggest it is
because of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edema occurs because the uterus pressures certain veins, which slow the blood circulation of the legs.
This results in swollen feet, ankles and legs. Edema typically occurs during the third trimester. While
it is temporary, a pregnant women with multiples will experience more discomfort and tenderness.
Varicose veins tend to develop alongside edema. http://www.ivein.com/ Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
Venous thrombosis is when a blood clot forms in a vein. Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) occurs in a vein
far below the surface of the skin. DTV typically appears in the legs or pelvis. Symptoms of DVT
include pain or swelling in the leg, red skin and abnormally large veins. An untreated blood clot is a
serious condition that can result in a pulmonary embolism (PE). This is when the blood clot becomes
stuck in a lung. This life threatening condition can cause breathing difficulty, chest pain and ultimately
physical collapse.
Uterine Fibroids
These are non cancerous tumors that grow inside the uterus. At least 20 percent of women are through
to develop uterine fibroids during pregnancy. Doctors believe that fibroids occur because of hormonal
changes or genetic history. While they may be very small, they are also very dangerous. They can
increase pressure on the bladder and even block the uterine opening, which will result in a cesarean

The Road Not Taken And Robert Frost Comparison Analysis
Imagine being outside with the colorful leaves falling to the ground in warm, comfy clothes and hot
chocolate in a mug. Often times poets use nature and sensory detail to inspire their writing and engage
their audience with a mental connection. One can compare and contrast Robert Frost s The Road Not
Taken to Emily Mottley, Annijah Collins, and McKenna Faychak s Seasons Changing by using
specific details from each poem. When interpreting the The Road Not Taken and Seasons Changing,
one can justify that the differences are their poetic structures and making different choices, while at
the same time recognize that the similarities are that each use nature images, references to Autumn,
and an abundant amount of detail to paint a picture for the reader. To begin differentiating, one can
first analyze the use of poetic structure in The Road Not Taken in contrast to Seasons Changing
through rhyme scheme, stanzas, and rhyme pattern. The authors use different ending rhyme schemes
in their poems. For example, Frost uses the structure ABAAB exemplified by the words from stanza 2:
fair, claim, wear, there, same (Frost 6 10), while Mottley, Collins, and Faychak incorporate the rhyme
scheme of a coupling pattern by two lines rhyming with eachother using the words: brown, down,
weather, together, cold, old, cuddle, and couple (Mottley, Collins and Faychak 1 8). Correspondingly,
Frost has five lines in each of his four stanzas, while Mottley, Collins, and Faychak have

A Report On Pike River Mine Essay
Pike river mine was in a lot trouble and needed something to get rid of financial debts that had piled
up over the years. The mine was new and the owner, Pike River Coal Ltd, had not completed the
systems and infrastructure necessary to safely produce coal. It s health and safety systems were poorly
maintained and the ventilation and methane drainage systems weren t coping with everything the
company was trying to do for example, driving roadways through coal and drilling into the coal seam
and extracting coal by hydro mining, a method known to produce large quantities of methane. They
wanted to start a system called hydro mining . Hydro mining uses a high pressure jet of water to carve
coal from the surface or the coalface, which was found to be well suited to the coal seams of New
Zealand s West Coast. In 2008, he (Nishioka) was asked to draw up a plan for a hydro system at pike
river mine and to put forward a budget and price to supply most of the requirements as well as
equipment needed. When Masaoki Nishioka arrived at Pike River Mine he found he was in a situation
that was much worse than he had expected.
The mines core infrastructure wasn t ready for hydro mining to begin with because it was still reliant
on a small backup fan located at the top of the ventilation shaft and the main fan, which was the mines
source of ventilation, wasn t installed yet and there was no emergency exit. Also, the company had
purchased all of the hydro mining equipment from Australia,

Advantages Of Low Self-Esteem
Self esteem remains the center focus of academic interest, with numerous studies examining age
differences predictors and change over time periods or cohorts. Having a low self esteem can create
difficulty with interest, education, and social skills. Having a low self esteem is not only unhealthy,
but it can lead to neuroticism and depression (Orth, Robins, and Roberts 2008). On the other hand,
having high self esteem can create problems as well, if one thinks they are great at everything then
they have difficulty seeing their flaws. Understanding how self esteem fluctuates has important
implications for theories of personality development.
A longitudinal study is observational or it can involve collecting data/ surveys. Therefore, the
researchers do not impact the participants answers. However, in a longitudinal study, researchers have
to examine the same participants over the course of the study, which can take decades. A couple
advantages of a longitudinal study are they can show clear variable patterns over time, clear focus and
validity, useful data, and they are flexible. On the other hand a few disadvantages are they can last
many years, participants may drop out of the study, large sample size, and are typically costly.
An advantage of the researchers study is the board ages that were exampled in the research. The
researchers used participants 24 104 in their research allowing for an evaluation of all age groups.

Metaphors In Paper Towns
The Strings, the Grass, and the Vessel Life is very complex and often hard to define. However, this
challenge does not stop people from trying to sum up the meaning of life in one word. In Paper Towns
by John Green, the three metaphors the strings, the grass, and the vessel are used throughout the book
to chronicle the protagonist s, Quentin, experiences. The novel revolves around Quentin Jacobsen, a
high school senior. When his former best friend and long time crush, Margo Roth Spiegelman, comes
back into his life and then suddenly disappears, Q attempts to piece together the clues he believes
Margo left behind for him. Each of these three metaphors represent what Q is feeling and allow him to
view life from different perspectives. As ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We never fully heal from these events and they affect our lives from that point on. However, I think
the strings metaphor makes life sound more fragile than it actually is. Failures, hardships, obstacles
are not fatal. Though they do affect us, they also provide a choice: to either allow these events to lead
to instability or work to strengthen the strings we have left. Yes, eventually, all of our strings are cut;
the battle is over. We spend our entire lives in combat and the end is inevitable. Life is just a constant
battle to continue to exist. Though we may repair and grow as people, our days are numbered. Strings
make life sound like a countdown to death; Four strings to go, now three, two, one... In the book, Q
reflects on the dual implications of this metaphor, I like strings. I always have. Because that s how it
feels. But the strings make pain seem more fatal than it is... we are not as frail as the strings would
make us believe. (302) Though there is some truth in this metaphor, I believe that it focuses too much
on the futility of our existence; that no matter how valiantly we fight, we will someday cease to exist.
If you choose grass, you re saying we are all infinitely interconnected, that we can use these root
systems not only to understand one another but to become one another. (301) This metaphor states that
we all share a common root system and are infinitely connected. Though this it ia good thing as it

A Short Note On The Cell Phone Industry
Although Microsoft was slow to join the cell phone war, and was unsuccessful in partaking in the

believes it can. The cell phone industry is dynamic and thriving market that offers a place to
innovation. Despite the losses already assumed by Microsoft which includes, assumed infringement
liabilities by the purchase of the Nokia cell phone line, and the added expenses in the amount of $780

Microsoft is in a good position to release a desirable and successful phone line. Furthermore, our team

Disadvantages Of Migrant Workers
The impact of migrant worker Migrant worker becomes a concern issue. In my opinion, migrant
worker brings more benefits than loss. However, countries like America, England try to restrict the
number of the migrant workers now. But it is not quite successful. There is a different view of points
about the impact of migrant worker, including the advantage and the disadvantage. In my opinion,
migrant worker brings more benefits than loss. According to the definition of migrant from
International Labor Organization, migrant describes as a person who migrates from one country to
another with a view to being employed otherwise than in his own account and includes any person
regularly admitted as a migrant for employment. Most of the migrant workers come from the poor

Julius Caesar Essay
Caius Julius Caesar remains one of the most famous Romans to have ever lived. As well as being a
brilliant politician and a military genius, Caesar also had his way with women. He had a few affairs
with some very beautiful and interesting women, with whom he used for political gains as well as
being lovers with. With his charismatic leadership and ambition, Caesar s rise to power came rather
quickly, and he ultimately became the dictator of the Roman Empire. Caesar is a very interesting man
to study about and his accomplishments are still referenced till this day. He caught the attention of
Shakespeare and Shaw, their plays may be exaggerated for a more dramatic effect from the events that
probably occurred, but regardless, most people have heard of Julius Caesar and know he was a man of
great accomplishments. Julius Caesar was born into a patrician family in a republic, on Quincitilis,
which would later be replaced by Julius in the Julian calendar in honor of Caesar during his reign.
Eventually evolving into what we now know as July. Despite his great reputation, everything did not
exactly go as he planned. Nearly twenty years old he narrowly 333avoided being executed for
opposing the military dictator Sulla, for not divorcing his first wife Cornelia, due to them being in

Long Beach For My Clinical Rotation
I had the privilege of going to Smith Elementary School in Long beach for my clinical rotation. I didn
t know what to expect before going in, but as soon as I walked in, I was greeted with friendly smiles.
Nurse Olga was the most friendliest nurse and she showed me how things worked around her facility.
They have computer system program that shows all the teachers can look at to find out their student s
health conditions. The nursing office had pretty much all the basic equipments that she would need to
take care of her patients. My activities included signing in patients as they came in, prioritizing care
based on complaints. Checking patient s temperature was very common and I had to call several
parent to pick up their children due to fever and malaise. I learned how to give vision and hearing test
to children. Couple patients had routine medications like Albuterol and Clonidine. Most of all I had to
treat basic wound care. As I observed Nurse Olga s daily routine, she practices all the components of
the community based care. She taught her patients on self care, preventive care, continuity of care, and
collaborative care. Her role as a teacher was that she told her patients on how to care for their wounds
and how to take their medications. She told them what they can do to prevent from getting hurt in the
playground. Couple students were daily visitors because they had chronic conditions like asthma and
they needed their regular Albuterol inhalers.

Harry Potter Vs Gandaulf Research Paper
Harry vs. Frodo, Ron vs. Sam, Sirius vs. Aragorn. In Harry Potter vs. Lord if the rings there are many
comparisons but the most controversial one is Dumbledore vs. Gandalf. Both are wizards, both are
mentors, both are very powerful, both are very wise, and run the show when they are around, but by
the end of this paper you will learn that one is better than the other and that Is Dumbledore. Let start
with the basics, as I stated they are both wizards. The biggest differences between the two are that
Dumbledore lives about one hundred fifteen years before his planned death while Gandalf is
practically a god of sorts and lives two thousand plus years before sailing off in a ship never to be seen
again. But what matters is that in Dumbledore s one hundred fifteen or so years he acquired more
power among the people and more knowledge than Gandalf did in his two thousand something years.

Throughout the whole series Gandalf is foiling the dark lord s plans and keeping Harry safe. In the last
part of the series when Harry takes Snape s tears to the pensive you get a really good look at just how
much Dumbledore knows. He even knew that Malfoy would be sent to kill him but it would be better
in the long run if Snape did it, he also knew that in the end Harry would have to die so that the part of
Voldemort that lived inside of him could die. Dumbledore knew it all. Gandalf was very intelligent he
was even said to be the wisest of the Maiar. But throughout the series he relies on luck, brute power,
and old connections to defeat Sauron. In the movies he never really seemed to know exactly what was
going to happen in order for his forces to beat the orcs and other nasty creatures fighting for Sauron.
He did know that he had to keep the attention on the war in order for Frodo to have enough time to get
the ring into the mountain of doom I ll give him that

Marjane Satrapi s The Socks
In the selection The Socks by Marjane Satrapi, the author addresses her previous experience with
moving back to Tehran, Iran. Satrapi faced a culture shock due to her Europeanized lifestyle that
conflicted with the traditional conservative Islamic nature of Iran.
The author was forced to abide by standards she did not agree with, which caused her to live a binary
lifestyle in public and private. Our behavior in public and our behaviour in private were polar
opposites. (266) Being a young, innovative female in her distinct surroundings, it formed multiple
opportunity for opposition and disobedience. Our struggle was more discreet. It hinged on the little

author s emotional being.
Acceptance of the new life the author was trying to bring forth along with the other young girls was
widely shamed in Iran. Although the girls along with a few others had similar mindsets and beliefs,
overall it was a shamed lifestyle. The more time passed, the more I became conscious of the contrast

The Airline Industry
According to ATAG, in 2013, over three billion passengers were carried by the world s airlines (Facts
Figures, 2014). This fact demonstrates how the airline industry is a ubiquitous part of our lives. Even
if a person has never used an airline for personal transportation, they are still likely to have consumed
and/or used an assortment of goods transported by the industry. Still, even with its major impact on the
world around it, inside the airline industry, firms must learn to encounter a wide array of external
factors that influence their everyday operations and strategies. These factors can come from both the
general and local environments that surround the industry. Each of these factors in their own way have
an impact on the competitive environment found within the industry.
GENERAL ENVIRONMENT
The general environment consists of six different trends that can have an effect on the strategies a firm
must take to survive in its industry. These six trends are: technological, demographic, cultural,
economic, legal and political, and international (Barney Hesterly, 2016). In the airline industry, this
means things such as fuel price, terroristic threats, and the environmental impact, all of which affect a
firm s strategy choice.
Demographic
As depicted in Chart A in the appendix, disposable income has experienced an overall increase over
the past 10 years (United States Disposable Personal Income, 2015). This means that individuals have
more income to spend

Comparing the Novel and Film Adaptation of Mary Shelley’s...
Comparing the Novel and Film Adaptation of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Horror and science fiction tend to present radically opposite interpretations of what may look like
comparable situations. (Kawin, 1981.) Bruce Kawin helps the reader to understand how a story in the
genre of science fiction could be adapted, or bastardized if you like, into a horror. This is similar to the
film adaptation of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Both Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein
(1935) portrayed characters and events differently than Shelley would have desired. Her novel had
many deeper implications than the movie portrayed.
James Whale and the many adapters/screenwriters involved in both films leeched onto the inhumanity

Pretorius, or upon facing the rejection of a bride created specially for him. Whale makes it clear that
nothing could love or care for this monster. The character of the monster is made to fit the horror
genre.
Part of the dehumanization of Frankenstein s monster is probably resultant of the loss of framing from
Shelley s novel. Bride of Frankenstein tries to establish framing through Shelley telling the story but
never concludes it. This unsuccessful frame adds only to the history surrounding Frankenstein. The
novel is framed through the letters of Walton. The reader then experiences Victor Frankenstein s
viewpoint followed by an insightful narrative from the monster in the middle of the novel. The
monster has learned English and has free, independent thought. He tells of his experiences after being
created by Victor Frankenstein, and relates his process of learning about his language, surroundings
and human emotion. This narrative provides a significant view of the psychology of human
development, relates the problems of creating life using technology, and substantiates the Monster s
actions. The science fiction genre is necessary to the story as it allows a connection to the monster and
to many of the deeper meanings of the story. When the story becomes a horror, a distance is created
between the audience and the monster that undermines the monster s very important contribution to
the story.
Although other aspects

Persephone Hades Research Paper
Persephone Demeter Hades
Hades, Persephone, and Demeter are all mythological characters referenced for evil, the beauty of the
earth, and fruitfulness of our planet. Hades strong lust for Persephone drove him to capture her, while
Demeter, her mother, sought to protect her. Considering what they symbolise, people today continue to
reference their story because of its strong relation to our society and ever changing nature.
According to the Greek mythology Hades, the unseen Greek god of the underworld, intrigued by the
beautiful daughter of Demeter and Zeus, Persephone, created a dilemma (Cotterell 49). Struck by her
beauty, Hades pulled Persephone into the underworld forcefully.

Homer s The Odyssey, Plato s Meno, Algernon Charles Swinburne s The Garden of Proserpine, and
Ovid s Fasti were one of the many literatures that explained the idea of Persephone, Hades, and
Demeter. The quote by Plato in Meno that says
They say that the soul of man is immortal, and at one time comes to an end, which is called dying, and
at another is born again, but never perishes. Consequently one ought to live all one s life in the utmost
holiness. For from whomsoever Persephone shall accept requital for ancient wrong, the souls of these
she restores in the ninth year to the upper sun again. focuses on the idea of Persephone being stolen
and how it causes the change in human nature. Not only does it represent cycles created in the nature
and season, but in the human lifespan as well.
In the following text we see this symbolism of circles in Milton s Paradise Lost, when he talks about
how they wait all night until morning for the light to appear (Allusion).

Pyramid Hierarchy In Frankenstein
Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs created by Abraham Maslow is a structural pyramid progression of
physical and psychological needs. From the bottom, the hierarchy includes; physiological, safety,
belonging, self esteem and self actualization. In order to get onto the next level of the pyramid, one
must fulfill all of the factors of the step below. In the novel Frankenstein the author, Mary Shelly
displays many of the character s progression. One of them is a creature that the protagonist, Victor
Frankenstein creates because of his love of science and anatomy. The creature is bought into the world

Learning about belonging and love is what drives the creature to his attempts at overcoming this need
I heard the differences of sexes, and the birth and growth of children, how the father doted on the
smiles of the infant, and the lively sallies of the older child, how all the life and cares of the mother
were wrapped up in the precious charge, how the mind of youth expanded and gained knowledge, of
brother, sister, and all the various relationships which bind one human being to another in mutual
bonds (page 109).The creature realizes that he does not meet the factors in this need But where were
my friends and relations? No father has watched my infant days, no mother had blessed me with
smiles and caresses, or if they had, all my past life was now a blot, a blind vacancy in which I
distinguished nothing (page 109). After realizing this, the creature makes attempts to overcome this
level on his own. As the creature watches Old Man De Lacy s family, he grows an attachment and
desires what the family has, relationships. His first attempt is when he approaches Old Man De Lacy
Save and protect me! You and your family are the friends whom I seek. Do not desert me in the hour

  • 2. Lancelot As A Hero In King Arthur And His Knight Within any story, the hero must contain three integral qualities: he or she must be the apparent protagonist of the novel, he or she must commit oneself to noble qualities and doings without exception, and he or she must be figuratively or literally invisible. In King Arthur His Knights, the three main contenders to be the hero of the story are Lancelot, King Arthur, and Galahad. However, each has a fatal flaw that annuls their ability to become the hero, for none of them adhere to all three qualities of a hero. Lancelot has the most plausible chance to be the hero of the story. He exhibits two of the three qualities needed to be the hero. He seems to be the protagonist because his existence is necessary for the progression of the story, and he is literally invincible. He can easily destroy any foe that blocks him from success from bouts with an invisible knight to bouts with up to 15 knights at once (). Lancelot apparently exhibits the strong qualities of a knight, so why is he not the hero of the story? He does not fit the heroic quality of committing himself to nobility. The notable example of this lack of quality is his affair with Guinevere. In The Knight of the Cart Lancelot heroically rides to save Guinevere, but later that night sleeps with her while committing treason against King Arthur (). Some may excuse his actions with the belief that he is in love with Guinevere and Guinevere with him. However, love does not always have to express with sex and thus ... • 4. Essay about Pagan Aspects in Beowulf Scholars have argued about the religious stance of the epic poem Beowulf for centuries. Although the man who put the poem down on paper, known as the Beowulf poet, was a devout Christian, the actual poem itself is pagan. There are many clues in the epic that lead us to this conclusion such as the numerous references to pagan symbols, namely the symbol of fate. Also, the central idea of revenge in the poem opposes the ideas of Christianity. The poem also contains many breaches of the Ten Commandments, which prove that the story is not Christian. However, the biggest clue to the paganism of Beowulf is the scene that contains the burial of Beowulf and the building and idolization of the tower, all of which go directly against the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no evidence anywhere that leads us to believe that poison is part of the Christian religion, again emphasizing the paganism of the poem. Although all of these are important pagan symbols that lead us to believe that this poem is not Christian, probably the most significant pagan symbol is that of fate. The idea of fate ruled the lives of the pagans. Their belief was that you were born with a fate, and there was nothing that could change this destiny. This idea becomes apparent in Beowulf several times. As Beowulf is dying he refers to his leaving this earth as just part of his destiny when he says that [m]y days have gone by as fate willed (Norton 1604). The idea of fate is called on again when Beowulf asks Wiglaf to succeed him as king of the Geats. He tells Wiglaf that he would have given the honor to his son, if he had one, but fate did not allow it. We see a reference to fate a final time when Wiglaf speaks of Beowulf after his death. He offers that as much as Beowulf s people tried to convince him to leave well enough alone, to allow the monster to live on forever, there was no changing Beowulf s destiny. Beowulf s [f]ate, and his will, [w]ere too strong (Norton 1611). Fate is clearly a non Christian idea, and its presence in the poem helps the case for Beowulf being a pagan story. We wanted to see whether the color of ink that was used on a test would affect a student s performance on that test. We chose to conduct this experiment in the Sterling C. Evans Library to get a wide variety of students to take the tests since it is the largest and most central library on campus. We felt that this way the best way to attempt to limit the other variables that could affect our results. Our hypothesis was that red ink would cause that student to do more poorly on the test than the student would have done on a test with black ink. Our theory was that red ink would remind students of wrong answers on previous assignments and create a feeling of stress and anxiety. We attempted to answer this question by giving students of various genders, majors, and ages a test of medium difficulty in red and black ink and analyzing the data to find out if their scores correlated with the ink color. In order to determine whether there was a correlation between ink colors and test scores, we measured the students number of wrong answers on the test, time taken on the test, stress level, age, classification, gender, GPA, and college. We chose these measures because they yielded numerical values that could be statistically assessed, and they account for any other variables that might play into the correlation. • 10. The Road Not Taken And Robert Frost Comparison Analysis Imagine being outside with the colorful leaves falling to the ground in warm, comfy clothes and hot chocolate in a mug. Often times poets use nature and sensory detail to inspire their writing and engage their audience with a mental connection. One can compare and contrast Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken to Emily Mottley, Annijah Collins, and McKenna Faychak s Seasons Changing by using specific details from each poem. When interpreting the The Road Not Taken and Seasons Changing, one can justify that the differences are their poetic structures and making different choices, while at the same time recognize that the similarities are that each use nature images, references to Autumn, and an abundant amount of detail to paint a picture for the reader. To begin differentiating, one can first analyze the use of poetic structure in The Road Not Taken in contrast to Seasons Changing through rhyme scheme, stanzas, and rhyme pattern. The authors use different ending rhyme schemes in their poems. For example, Frost uses the structure ABAAB exemplified by the words from stanza 2: fair, claim, wear, there, same (Frost 6 10), while Mottley, Collins, and Faychak incorporate the rhyme scheme of a coupling pattern by two lines rhyming with eachother using the words: brown, down, weather, together, cold, old, cuddle, and couple (Mottley, Collins and Faychak 1 8). Correspondingly, Frost has five lines in each of his four stanzas, while Mottley, Collins, and Faychak have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yes, eventually, all of our strings are cut; the battle is over. We spend our entire lives in combat and the end is inevitable. Life is just a constant battle to continue to exist. In Harry Potter vs. Lord if the rings there are many comparisons but the most controversial one is Dumbledore vs. Gandalf. Both are wizards, both are mentors, both are very powerful, both are very wise, and run the show when they are around, but by the end of this paper you will learn that one is better than the other and that Is Dumbledore. Let start with the basics, as I stated they are both wizards. The biggest differences between the two are that Dumbledore lives about one hundred fifteen years before his planned death while Gandalf is practically a god of sorts and lives two thousand plus years before sailing off in a ship never to be seen again. But what matters is that in Dumbledore s one hundred fifteen or so years he acquired more power among the people and more knowledge than Gandalf did in his two thousand something years. In the last part of the series when Harry takes Snape s tears to the pensive you get a really good look at just how much Dumbledore knows. He even knew that Malfoy would be sent to kill him but it would be better in the long run if Snape did it, he also knew that in the end Harry would have to die so that the part of Voldemort that lived inside of him could die. Dumbledore knew it all. Gandalf was very intelligent he was even said to be the wisest of the Maiar. But throughout the series he relies on luck, brute power, and old connections to defeat Sauron. In the movies he never really seemed to know exactly what was going to happen in order for his forces to beat the orcs and other nasty creatures fighting for Sauron. He did know that he had to keep the attention on the war in order for Frodo to have enough time to get the ring into the mountain of doom I ll give him that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Airline Industry According to ATAG, in 2013, over three billion passengers were carried by the world s airlines (Facts Figures, 2014). This fact demonstrates how the airline industry is a ubiquitous part of our lives. Even if a person has never used an airline for personal transportation, they are still likely to have consumed and/or used an assortment of goods transported by the industry. Still, even with its major impact on the world around it, inside the airline industry, firms must learn to encounter a wide array of external factors that influence their everyday operations and strategies. These factors can come from both the general and local environments that surround the industry. Each of these factors in their own way have an impact on the competitive environment found within the industry. GENERAL ENVIRONMENT The general environment consists of six different trends that can have an effect on the strategies a firm must take to survive in its industry. These six trends are: technological, demographic, cultural, economic, legal and political, and international (Barney Hesterly, 2016). In the airline industry, this means things such as fuel price, terroristic threats, and the environmental impact, all of which affect a firm s strategy choice. Demographic As depicted in Chart A in the appendix, disposable income has experienced an overall increase over the past 10 years (United States Disposable Personal Income, 2015). • 31. Comparing the Novel and Film Adaptation of Mary Shelley’s... Comparing the Novel and Film Adaptation of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Horror and science fiction tend to present radically opposite interpretations of what may look like comparable situations. (Kawin, 1981.) Bruce Kawin helps the reader to understand how a story in the genre of science fiction could be adapted, or bastardized if you like, into a horror. This is similar to the film adaptation of Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Both Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein (1935) portrayed characters and events differently than Shelley would have desired. Her novel had many deeper implications than the movie portrayed. James Whale and the many adapters/screenwriters involved in both films leeched onto the inhumanity of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pretorius, or upon facing the rejection of a bride created specially for him. Whale makes it clear that nothing could love or care for this monster. The character of the monster is made to fit the horror genre. Part of the dehumanization of Frankenstein s monster is probably resultant of the loss of framing from Shelley s novel. Bride of Frankenstein tries to establish framing through Shelley telling the story but never concludes it. This unsuccessful frame adds only to the history surrounding Frankenstein. The novel is framed through the letters of Walton. The reader then experiences Victor Frankenstein s viewpoint followed by an insightful narrative from the monster in the middle of the novel. The monster has learned English and has free, independent thought. He tells of his experiences after being created by Victor Frankenstein, and relates his process of learning about his language, surroundings and human emotion. This narrative provides a significant view of the psychology of human development, relates the problems of creating life using technology, and substantiates the Monster s actions. The science fiction genre is necessary to the story as it allows a connection to the monster and to many of the deeper meanings of the story. When the story becomes a horror, a distance is created between the audience and the monster that undermines the monster s very important contribution to the story. Although other aspects ...
