Introduction. Throughout The Course Of Oneā€™S Academic And
Introduction
Throughout the course of one s academic and professional career, one will be required to create,
present, and receive needed information via numerous presentations which utilize slide deck software
such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Apple s Keynote. In this project, I will discuss the
effective use of these applications to create presentations which effectively utilize elements of visual
design to effectively communicate with an audience. My interest in this topic comes from my
experience as both a student and a professional. In these capacities, I have regularly experience both
the audience and the presenter side of slide shows and I have seen how this method of disseminating
information can both excite and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Technology has given anyone with basic computer knowledge the ability to create multimodal blended
structure slide decks, and then distribute this media throughout the internet. I utilized The Non
Designer s Design Book because it emphasizes the four basic principles of good visual design, which
can easily be applied to create slide based presentations. These four principles include contrast,
repetition, alignment and proximity. The proper implementation of the principles are key to the
creation of an effective slideshow presentation. Another influential reading from our course which I
am able to apply to my project is Visual Language for Designers. The main points I take from this
reading, which are applicable to this project are the idea of minimalism in a low fidelity visual and the
idea of reducing the quantity of elements in a visual.
For this project, I also utilized other sources which dealt directly with the effective use of visual in
presentations. One valuable project resource was a 2014 TEDx talk given by David JP Phillips entitle
How to Avoid Death by PowerPoint. The main points taken from this source include the limitation of
one topic per slide, the importance of the size of visuals in presentations, the ability to capture the
attention of an audience with the effective use of

Archetypes In The Hunger Games
There are many movies, shows, plays, and books that contain archetypes. It may have been hard to
recognize them because you are unaware of what they are. An archetype is a very typical example of a
person or thing. Some major archetypes we see in literature are the hero, star crossed lover, mentor,
underdog, the devil, angel, and many more. One version of literature that has many archetypes is the
Hunger Games. Archetypes that are exhibited in the Hunger Games is in many of the characters like
Katniss Everdeen , Peeta Mellark, Shaymitch Abernathy, Gale Hawthorne, Primrose Everdeen,
President Snow and many more characters but some of the main archetypes that are shown in the
Hunger Games is the Hero, the Underdog, and the Star crossed lovers. If you have not seen the
Hunger Games there may be some confusion on what it is. The Hunger Games were made to keep the
districts of Panem from revolting against the capital. The 12 districts made up Panem. Every year the
capital holds a annual Hunger Games for all 12 of the districts. One girl and one boy would be picked
at random from each district to participate in the Hunger games. Each player must fight to the finish
and wipe out one another until there is only one left. At the reaping of the 74th hunger games Primrose
Everdeen, Katnisses sister was chosen to be district 12s women tribute. Until Katniss volunteers to
take her younger sisters place to be district 12s tribute along with Peeta Mellark district 12s local

History Of Gum Disease
Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support the teeth. It starts with
inflammation of gums (gingivitis) which when left untreated may proceed to cause bone loss
(periodontitis). As the support of the tooth is lost, gum diseases lead to lose teeth.
Cause: The primary cause of gum diseases is plaque, the sticky bio film of bacteria that is constantly
forming on our teeth. But there are following factors which increase the risk of developing it:
Poor oral hygiene
Smoking or chewing tobacco
Genetics and family history of gum diseases
Crooked teeth that are hard to keep clean
Pregnancy, hormonal changes
Other diseases like diabetes, cancer, HIV
Medications like steroids, anti epilepsy drugs, cancer therapy drugs, some ... Show more content on

Other studies showed that women with gum disease were more likely to deliver preterm, low birth
weight babies.
Treatment options: The goal of treatment is to reduce swelling, the depth of pockets and stop disease
progression. Treatment options depend on the stage of disease, past history of gum disease, response
to earlier treatment and overall health.
Gingivitis, an early stage of the gum disease is still reversible as the disease is still only isolated to
gums and hasn t yet spread to the bone. It can be easily treated with simple non invasive professional
cleaning by the dentist, followed by daily brushing, flossing and mouthwash rinses. Periodontitis, an
advanced gum disease has spread to the bone and requires surgical treatment.
Scaling of teeth The first and foremost treatment is cleaning of the teeth by a dentist to remove the
plaque and tartar/calculus (hardened bacterial film). This removes the bacteria and thus controls

What Is Ernest Hemingway Code Hero
Each person has their own perception of what a hero is. Ernest Hemingway has a specific set of
guidelines to identify who is a hero and who isn t: Code Hero. Hemingway s code entails following
the ideals of honor, courage and endurance in a world that is sometimes chaotic, often stressful, and
always painful. Two characters, each written by Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck, respectively,
both demonstrate and fall short of Hemingway s standard. Santiago, of Ernest Hemingway s Old Man
and the Sea, fits the code in his perseverance through the hardships he endures while fishing, and even
though Santiago was written by the creator of Code Hero, fails to reflect it in his impatience. John
Steinbeck s George Milton in Of Mice and Men, though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Santiago brought his trouble onto himself all because he was not able to go more than 84 days without
catching fish, violating one of the guidelines of Code Hero: endurance. All of Santiago s motives were
also all for himself, which one could argue shows an inferior way of being a hero. A selfless hero is a
better hero, just as George Milton shows. All of George s motives were to keep Lennie safe and give
him the best and happiest life he could. George was persevering and courageous enough to do all it
would take, including sacrificing his mental state to put Lennie out of his misery. Everything George
did was all hero and no coward, and none of it was done for his own benefit, while santiago s heroism
was brought upon by cowardice, and it was all self motivated, decidedly making George the best hero

Identity In The 19th Century
IDENTITY CRISIS IN SELECT NOVELS OF SALMAN RUSHDIE The question of identity is the
most controversial issue in postcolonial time and literature and it can be regarded the most important
because of its crisis exist in all postcolonial communities. Due to the circumstances of post colonial
era and the problematic conditions that faced newly freed nations and countries in their search and
formation of self identity the crisis floated on the surface. In the following of World War II, the act of
decolonization and libration of nations under colonial rule provoked a noteworthy move in the
direction of recreating social and individual identities. The period also marked by the struggle of
decolonization in all the levels of life, culture, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the identity is not a stable and fixed notion as Hall confirms ā€•Identity emerges as a kind of
unsettled space or an unresolved question in that space, between a number of intersecting discourses
and the impact of colonial legacy was multi dimensional besides there was a different consequences of
colonialism in different locations, the issue of identity appeared in different shapes and forms.
Collective and individual identities also differ physically and psychologically. The resistance of
decolonization process took various outlines due to countries, societies and individuals. Therefore,
identity is not simply imposed. It is also chosen, and actively used, albeit within particular social
contexts and constraints. Against dominant representations of others there is resistance. Within
structures of dominance, there is agency.
Identity crisis is the major suffering of the many people in the present day world. It is quite natural
every one thinks of their own identity to grow themselves with self respect. Afro American, British
and Indian every writer nowadays focused their writings keeping in the mind the sense of identity.
There is no exception to the writer like Salman Rushdie. His novels also reflect the question of
identity and explore the philosophical significance of ideals and concepts.

The Act of Union of 1707 brought together the two...
The Act of Union of 1707 brought together the two independent nations of Scotland and England to
create a new United Kingdom. This new Kingdom in the opinion of the English ensured political and
military stability on the Island of Great Britain, neutralizing the Scottish MP s by absorbing them into
the Westminster system. However, by 1706, the prospect of a parliamentary union with England
intensified the fears of many Scottish Presbyterians for the security of their church. The actions of the
Presbyterian Church in relation to its pre and post Union position can be seen as inconsistent, divided
and littered with ad hoc decisions in response to the changing political events. Historians including

It is important to acknowledge the importance religion played in eighteenth century society, as
sermons were seen as divine, righteous and promoted God s word on earth. The Church was seen as a
meeting place for many in the community where political, Social and religious ideas could be
communicated freely, while sermons in their own right were blueprints of how one should attempt to
live ones life on earth. With this in mind, the vast account s of sermons on the 1707 Union reflects
how the Church was attempting to indoctrinate its congregations into accepting pro union ideas, both
before and after it was signed. Biblical comparisons to the Union, made it difficult for the
congregation to question it publically, while it also promoted the idea of social hegemony between pro
and anti Union supporters, using the Ten commandments as the Reverend Charles Bean stated. This
concept was shared by Rev Chandler and Rev Freke who both preached thanksgiving sermons on how
one should attempt to dwell with brethren in unity. However, there is a reoccurring and consistent
narrative present within the sources identified in the bibliography. The vast majority of sermons were
published in London, the communication and linguistic capital were pro union ideas could be
dispersed amongst the lands. What is also interesting when

The Religions Of The Middle East
Abrahamic religions, religions that derive from the biblical character Abraham, have three main
religions in the group. The first, and oldest, is Judaism, founded several thousand years ago in the
Middle East; then there is Christianity, the most popular religion in the world, which was founded
shortly after the death of Christ; finally, there is Islam, the second most popular religion in the world,
founded by the prophet Muhammed in the 7th century ACE. Islam has over one billion followers of
the Islamic faith. Although it is one of the most popular religions in the world, many people do not
know much about what Muslims, followers of Islam, believe in. Due to the rising publicity of militant
terrorist groups in the Middle East, Islamophobia has become rampant in many first world countries.
Although the media portrays violent and barbaric acts performed by militant Muslims, a majority of
Muslims do not commit such atrocities and are wrongly persecuted. Only by educating those who do
not know about Islam, can it be assured that Islamophobia will dwindle.
Islam was founded in Saudi Arabia by a prophet named Muhammed. Muhammed is considered to be
the greatest prophet in the Muslim faith, the second greatest prophet in the Muslim faith is considered
to be Jesus Christ himself. The one main, significant difference between Islam and Christianity is that
Muslims do not see Christ as being the Lord, they believe that only Allah, the Arabic name for God, is
the one, true lord.

Shakespeare s Othello Conspiracy
Shakespeare s Othello
The first act of Shakespeare s works presents a conspiracy by the character Iago over his superior
Othello and his counterpart Roderigo. In the evaluation of events, the three characters work in a way
that seems private to each of them. They are all in the military in the Venetian Army where Othello is
general, and the other two are his focusses. Iago is so much obsessed in two things, first one is to be a
lieutenant, and the other is to marry Desdemona, the daughter of the most emotional character and a
governor, Brabantio. The two problems become the triggers to the plans by this character to bring
down Othello.
Starting with Iago, Iago is determined to be a lieutenant. Instead of Othello giving him an order, he

Presidential Election of 1912 In the presidential election of 1912 the Democrat Woodrow Wilson,
Progressive Theodore Roosevelt, Republican William Howard Taft, and Socialist Eugene Debs all had
their opposing views on the issues that concerning the future of democracy in America. Some of the
issues were; the Conservation of Natural Resources, Direct Democracy, Labor, Race, Tariff, Trusts and
Regulation of Business, and votes for Women. Majority of the people desired change, as would I if I
were to have lived during this time period . My vote would have been for Theodore Teddy Roosevelt,
as the change he promises is fair compared to the other candidates. Labor would be one of the issues
that would be most important to me as a voter. Working is part of life, it s necessary to be able to
provide for your family. In 1912, the working conditions were not safe or healthy. The long working
hours, the dangerous work space, the low pay all would make people desire change. As a voter, I
would want to know that in the future I would be safe at work with good pay to be able not to live in
poverty. There were many strikes that occurred, demanding change in labor in 1912. In the Lawrence
Strike, people fought for higher wages, shorter hours, safer working conditions, regulation of woman
and child labor, and workmen s compensation. Another issue that would be important to me as a voter
would be the tariff. The Tariff is a source of federal revenue. It s a way for the United States

What Is Mary Shelly s Personality In Frankenstein
Daughter, Wife, Mother, Author, this is Mary Shelly. You probably have herd of Mary Shelly because
of her very famous novel, Frankenstein. Shelly s life has had many ups and downs that I believe has
majorly contributed to the novel. Has she related her personality to the character Frankensteins
personality? She would not have been able to create many details in the story without using inspiration
from her memories, and things she has experienced in her own life. Does her life reflect how Victor
was seen as the monster, and why Frankenstein seems like a nice creature even though the characters
in the novel see him as hideous and ugly?
Mary Shelly was actually born as Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin on August 30, 1797 in London,
England. She was the daughter of a philosopher and political writer William Godwin. Sadly after
giving birth to Mary, her mother passed away. Shelly was left to be cared for by her father, William,
and older half sister, Fanny Imlay. Imlay was born from Wollstonecraft who had an affair with a
soldier. In 1801, Godwin finally found someone again by the name of Mary Jane Claremont. Godwin

Analysis of Randall Jarrell s The Death of the Ball...
Many of the great poems we read today were written in times of great distress. One of these writers
was Randall Jarrell. After being born on May 6, 1914, in Nashville Tennessee, Jarrell and his parents
moved to Los Angeles where his dad worked as a photographer. When Mr. and Mrs. Jarrell divorced,
Randall and his younger brother returned to Nashville to live with their mother. While in Nashville,
Randall attended Hume Frogg high school. Randall showed his love for the arts while in high school
by participating in dramatics and journalism. Jarrell continued his career in the arts when he wrote and
edited for Vanderbilt s humor magazine, The Vanderbilt Masquerader. After earning his graduate
degree at Vanderbilt, Jarrell accepted a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Jarrell says the words, hunched in the belly, the reader gets a very uncomfortable feeling. In line
number three the reader gets visual imagery as well as slight tactile imagery. The visual imagery
comes when Jarrell says, Six miles from earth. The reader gets a clear image of something being very
high above the ground. When the author says, loosed from the dream of life, the reader gets a slight
feeling of death or a vision of someone dying. The fourth line, I woke to the black flak and the
nightmare fighters, brings the reader visual, auditory and tactile imagery. The reader can picture
someone waking up to shrapnel, from an exploding bomb, flying by their head. One can hear the
gunfire of the, nightmare fighters, along with the exploding shells. The reader also gets a tactile image
when the author says, I woke up, because everyone knows what it is like to wake up from a sleep. In
the fifth and final line the reader gets a very graphic visual image. The reader can picture someone s
body being so destroyed that instead of removing the body from the turret the soldiers must wash it
out with a hose. Jarrell also used a great deal of figurative language in this poem. The entire poem is
an extended metaphor. This poem compares the struggles of war with the struggles of being born.
More specifically, it compares being killed the belly of a plane and being killed in the womb of a
mother. We see

Those who threaten suicide do so explicitly, directly, or clearly, and 40 percent of such people have

Suicide attempters are ambiguous in their intent and less explicit in communicating their suicidal
feelings. They seem to be seeking help, but either cannot communicate their message or others do not
take it seriously because of its vagueness, which leads to more dramatic and dangerous methods to
express their appeal for help. They use methods such as wrist cutting, but only 5 to 10 percent of

Adler s The Neglect Of The Intellect Sloth
In his article The Neglect of the Intellect: Sloth, Mortimer J. Adler asserts that the disuse of a person s
intellect is a moral injustice. Adler coins the term sloth to describe the people committing this moral
crime. He believes that people should use their intellectual abilities for their own personal pleasure
rather than for economic or political gain. Adler employs an aggressive tone when describing the
abuse of the intellect, and appeals to the reader s emotion when portraying intellect as a way the only
way to live a morally good life. Adler s purpose is to convince his readers that intellect should be used
solely for the purpose of increasing knowledge. While Adler s article gives a reasonably convincing
argument about learning for your own well being, he fails to support his claims, baffles his readers
with the overuse of intelligent sounding words, and neglects to explain why you should be intellectual
just for the sake of it. Alder fails to support his claims. Because of this, his claims come across as
opinions, not allegations. In paragraph 4, Adler says, Sloth is a moral fault, but unlike injustice that
results in misconduct toward others, sloth is a moral fault that causes the misconduct of the individual
s private life. This quote demonstrates how Adler makes a statement, but never elaborates on it. He
calls the sloth a moral fault, but doesn t explain how that is true. Adler also mentions that your private
life will be affected, but never precedes to explain how that could happen. Another example is when
Adler states, But there are a great many more who have sufficient ability to make the effort and fail to
do so (paragraph 3). Adler neglects to explain to the reader how this statement is true. He later lists the
activities of the people he referred to engage in, but he never demonstrates an example of failure to
use their intellectual abilities. Adler s failure to support his claims discredits his argument. Throughout
his article, Adler uses intellectual language that can make it hard for his audience to read. Words he
uses like lethargy and torpor take away from the purpose of his article. Adler is trying to convince his
audience to seek knowledge for enjoyment, but his

Boston Tea Party Research Paper
The Boston Tea Party was a tremendous moment in history that was caused by many factors and had
many lasting effects that led to the war that shaped our country into what it is today, The
Revolutionary War. The Boston Tea Party occurred due to the creation of The Tea Act in 1773. The
colonists retaliated by taking tea off of a British boat and throwing it into the harbor. This led to the
creation of The Intolerable Acts, and the beginning of The Revolutionary War. The creation of The Tea
Act was the major leading cause of The Boston Tea Party. It all started in 1760 when Francis Bernard
wanted to reinforce The Molasses Act (Middlekauff, 88). This led to the creation of multiple other
acts, the most prominent being The Tea Act. It was meant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They introduced The Coercive Acts that acted as a punishment for the colonists. The Coercive Acts
broke into two parts, The Intolerable Acts and The Quebec Act. The Quebec Act gave the colonists the
right to practice Roman Catholic Religion on their own free will (Brackemyre). The Intolerable Acts
broke up into even more separate parts. The first of which was The Boston Port Bill. That closed all
ports in and out of Boston until the tea that was thrown into the harbor was paid for. That was too
expensive for the colonists to pay for, and if they did, then the British would still come out as the
winners in the retaliation against this tax. The next piece of The Intolerable Acts was The
Administration of Justice Act which stated that any British soldiers accused of murdering colonists
were to be tried in England. This just about guaranteed that the British soldiers would be free of
charges due to the colonists not having a place in the jury. The next act as part of The Intolerable Acts
is The Massachusetts Government Act which took away the colonists right to elect representatives for
the legislature. The King would be the one that would elect the representatives which would always
end up being someone under the payroll of the King. This act also restricted all town hall meeting in

Unit 11 Assignment 2 Cardiovascular And Transport Systems
Unit 11 Assignment 2: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Systems M2. Explain the need for a transport
system in a multi cellular organism There are two types of cellular organisms: Unicellular organism
Multi cellular organism Unicellular Organism A unicellular organism is a single celled organism (one
cell), which is to rely on the process of diffusion, when moving different substances in and out of
other cells, due to its structure it has a larger surface area in comparison to its volume; this is because
each organism is built for a specific function. However, they transport materials such as oxygen and
urea in and out of bodies, through diffusion and osmosis. Multi cellular Organism A multi cellular is
consists of more than one cell, it has a small surface area, compared to its volume. This means that its
structure is specialised to do more than one function, especially exchanging surfaces, such as lungs,
and transporting systems. Its transportation system requires food and oxygen to be transported from
one place to another. Why do we need a transport system? The reason for having a transport system is
because the single celled organisms, also known as unicellular organism are small, meaning that they
have a large surface area, in comparison to their volume; a large surface area to volume ratio. As they
are known for having one cell, the substances diffuse through their relatively large plasma membrane.
This also means that they are able to diffuse

The Turn Of The Screw Analysis
The Turn of the Screw is one of the most controversial works in literature and the text has provoked a
variety of critical interpretations from its publication in 1898. In this novel, the governess tells her
experience with two apparitions that no one but she could see. And the governess accuses the ghosts
of servants for corrupting the children, Miles and Flora. Critics concerning about the truth of the story
are divided two basic camps based on their acceptance or rejection of the governess s credibility as a
storyteller. Some critics believe that the ghosts are real and the governess is a rational and credible
narrator, while the others believe that the ghosts are hallucinations of the governess and regard the
governess as an incredible and mentally abnormal narrator. Also, we could speculate the author s
intention on the basis of his life experience and other works of Henry James. This essay will examine
the reliability of the governess on the basis of the text and interpret Henry James s intention on the
basis of other sources. The critics from psychanalytic perspective claim that the existence of ghosts is
the governess s hysterical delusion. The ghost is the projection of governess s own sexual hysteria,
which resulted from the conflict between native romantic impulses and idealistic innocence required
by Victorian society (Renner). The inexperienced governess encounters the handsome, bold, young
gentleman with charming ways with women (James, 4) and she

Demian Hermann Hesse
In life, everyone is searching for something. Some people search for things like money, love, power,
and fame while others are just simply searching for themselves. Published in 1919, Hermann Hesse s,
Demian, tells the story of an older man s reflection on his childhood. Throughout the novel, main
character Emil Sinclair struggles to find a purpose and meaning for his life. He faces many difficulties
in an attempt to find himself. This is a novel of self discovery and the pursuit of happiness. Because
Hesse displays a power struggle between two elements of binaries, the binaries mirror the struggles
that Sinclair faces and his final acceptance of this. The novel begins with recollections of 10 year old
Sinclair. Hesse illustrates the two realms or worlds that Sinclair is aware of at this age. One world is of
light and one world is of darkness. The world of light consists of everything good, pure, and innocent
while the world of darkness is everything evil, sin and deceit. It was wonderful that here among us
there was peace, order, and repose, duty and a clear conscience, forgiveness and love and wonderful
that all the rest existed, all those noisy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

means he believed in the Devil. When he enters the dark world, he begins to experience the Devil
more than God for the very first time. This is really hard on Sinclair and he was living as frightened
and tormented as a ghost (Hesse 15). It isn t until he learns about Abraxas that he finally understands

Chicago Bear Today Research Paper
Chicago Bears Today vs. 1985 The Chicago Bears are a completely different team today than they
were in 1985. The Bears today do not have the caliber of players. The stats are a big factor in proving
my point. From passing to receiving yards and even rushing. In the following paragraphs, I will
highlight some of the stats from 1985 and some from today s teams. In today s games, the stats are not
very impressive. The Bears current starting QB is Matt Berkley. Completing only 129 passes for 1611
yards is not an impressive feat in the NFL. He has only thrown 8 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.
The leading receiver, Cameron Meredith, has 66 catches for 888 yards. He has fumbled the ball 3
times and lost the ball twice during those 3 fumbles. His

Mozart Family Concert
In late 2013, the Blue Ridge Orchestra was invited to be one of the featured ensembles in the
Asheville Symphony s Mozart festival Asheville Amadeus. After discussions with ASO Executive
Director David Whitehill, it was decided in February of 2014 that the BRO would present a Family

challenge presented was to design a program that would appeal to both Mozart novices and Mozart
aficionados.

The Absolute Monarchy And The Third Estate
Under the absolute monarchy during the eighteenth century, there was a divide between the three
estates with the Third Estate, which encompassed subjects with no formal title, being the outcast. The
nobility and the clergy formed a cohesive unit that agreed on each other s needs, leaving the working
men and women of the Third Estate to fend for themselves, which was a leading factor to the split
between the Estates. Despite the famine and hunger that had affected some of the Third Estate, the
aristocracy was still hosting lavish dinners. Even though this method was beneficial for the First and
Second Estates, the substantial population that identified as the Third Estate, left in a formidable
position, struggled to correct this situation.

Calculating and Interpreting a Project Network Diagram
In the world of project management, utilizing the three point technique can prove to be an invaluable
tool. In addition to the three point technique applying the earliest start (ES), earliest finish (EF), latest
start (LS), and latest finish (LF) procedure to identify the critical path, the project completion time,
and the slack for each task can prove to be set of invaluable data that will assist the project manager in
accurately determining task duration estimates for the entire scope of work for the project. In this
week s assignment we will explore a construction company and the associated time estimates for each
task as it relates to their entire project.

Scenario 3 All tasks delayed by 1 week: If each task is delayed by one week the entire project
completion time line will be affected. Most notably tasks C, F, and H will be affected as they have a
slack value of 0. More importantly task J the final task in the project network diagram has a value of 0
and a LF of 39 which would not be met because of the delay.
Scenario 4 The duration for task C is reduced by 25%: Because task C has a slack value of 0 reducing
its duration time from 12 weeks to 8 weeks would pose a threat to the project completion time line.
However, since task D has a slack value of 13 and starts in week 8 along with task C, the project
manager can utilize the slack time available within task D to shift resource to assist in completed task
C in 8 weeks. This action will keep the project completion date from slipping from its original
completion date in week 39.
Our final exercise will include a brief discussion on risk management. After analyzing the data tasks
C, F, and H pose a potential risk to the project as there is no slack available. My risk response is to
avoid; therefore, I would have the resources for task D assist task C, the resources from E and G assist
F, which would provide slack for H. This approach would greatly reduce the chances of any of the

Merger And Acquisition Of A Merger
A merger takes place when two companies joint together to form a single company. A merger is alike
to a takeover or acquisition, except that in the case of a merger remaining stakeholders of both
companies involved retain a shared interest in the new company. By contrast, in an acquisition one
company purchases a bulk of a second company s stock, creating an uneven balance of ownership in
the new combined company. Acquisition refers to buying out another company and taking it into the
fold of the acquiring company. This is done by paying the acquired company, the value of its capital
and depending upon the situations, a premium over the capital amount. Acquisitions and mergers both
involve one or multiple companies purchasing all or part of another company. The main difference
between a merger and an acquisition is how they are financed. By acquiring a small company with a
good technology, a big company can develop a competitive advantage for example; recently Facebook
acquired Instagram and Whatsapp. This means to stay competitive; company needs to remain on top
of technological development and buyer will need to pay an amount if they want to acquire the
company and for seller, that premium represents their company s future growth. Merger or acquired its
increases the capital of small company. HUMAN RESOURCE PLANNING HR should know the
vision, and strategic plans of the company need of the company, management of all aspects of HR.

Dutchman Play Analysis
Dutchman Dutchman written by Amiri Baraka is a perfect example of how race can play in important
part in how you are perceived. In this story a powerful middle aged white women tries to seduce a
younger aged African American man that presented himself as intelligent and well dressed. This play
was written during a time when our world was very closed minded about race specifically with those
who were of color. In the early 1960 s white was the major race and white americans were who were
superior to those of color. Later on in the 1960 s is when African Americans started to fight for full
and equal rights. They wanted to not be used or treated as if they were not humans. Majority of
African American families were lower class and poor because that is how society viewed and valued
them. If you were not white you did not mean anything or have anything of value. Usually they were
slaves for white families and were told to do as they instructed. This provoked for the Civil Rights
Movement. That eventually lead to African Americans having the same privileges as Whites. Now
many years later we would think racism and discrimination does not happen but it does daily. Tying all
this together was a play called Dutchman. Which is a strong play that expresses race and how racism
is the dominate trait in the story and also stereotyping african americans. The narrator through out the
play in Dutchman deals with the issue of race by letting a white women talk and disrespect a black
man.

the arts in Italian Renaissance Essay
The Italian Renaissance was a very difficult time period in European history. The
arts were flourishing, while the city states in Italy fought bloody battles with each other
and within themselves. Bribery and murder were not uncommon tools for men to use
when they wanted power. Meanwhile those same rulers patronized the arts a great deal
and they would commission the best artistic minds of the time to build, design and paint
their palaces and churches and later on their own portraits and everyday paraphernalia.
In the beginning of Renaissance the artists, as well as the princes, were mostly
interested in religious themes, mostly from the New Testament. They all believed that if

By the 16th century the profession of the artist was becoming fashionable. In the
15th century it was still unheard of the artists mingling with the powerful and the rich.
There were very few masters, who were considered brilliant, so there was practically no
competition between them. One person could paint the same monastery or church for
years, adding just a little personal variation to the story and the style of the painting. It
was becoming fashionable for an artist to not only do his work at a royal court but also be
associated with that court. Many city states claimed ownership of the brilliant minds that
worked there. Also, individualism was becoming an important aspect of people s lives.
Any individual who exhibited some sort of talent could easily find a sponsor among rich
neighbors . Mantegna was a shepherd in Padua until someone discovered him and he
became a court painter at Mantua. Monetary rewards were also very important to artists.
Rivalry between the artists challenged them to go to new and better levels and the more
money they received the harder they tried. Many artists, such as Bruneleleschi, Uccello or
Piero della Franesca started experimenting with perspective. After that many lesser
known artists started emulating them and

What Is The Positive Impact Of The Stock Market Crash Of 1929
In the years leading up to 1929, the American economy was thriving and stock trade sales were at their
highest peak. The majority of people were thriving in this newfound success, and had been constantly
building off their fortunes. The people of the United States had never lived through such a time, so
experiencing this for the first time they were ignorant of any negative effects that could occur. They
never would have expected the economy to undergo such a drastic change in such a short period of

notion of an imminent market crash was described as, To most people it seemed as though prosperity
would never end, that everyone would simply go on making and spending more and more money
(Baruch 2). They were pushing their possible doubts outside of their minds to focus on the all too
obvious positive impacts of the thriving economy. Furthermore, in the article Firing, Not Hiring by

Relationships of Maxilla to Mandible
Before tackling the topic of articulators, the maxillomandibular relationship must first be introduced
as it provides the bases upon which dental prosthesis are fabricated and must be maximally duplicated
to ensure the success of a denture or restoration.
The temporomandibular joint involves the condylar head which moves along the petrous part of

In addition, although it is unmovable unlike the mandible, the maxilla is in a fixed position relative to
the temporomandibular joint or the reference positions when the mandible has to function against the
maxillary teeth. This anatomical relationship, know as orientation relation, mandates its recording
when dealing with prosthesis or else it would lead to disharmony of occlusion and eventually harming
supporting and associated tissues.
In addition to the normal maxilla and mandibular positions discussed individually, the
maxillomandibular relationship must also be taken into consideration in the field of prosthodontics
and restorative dentistry. The maxillomandibular relationship accounts for the registration of any
positional relationship of the mandible with respect to the maxilla. The maxillomandibular relation
records are:
1. Orientation Relation Record: Relation of the maxilla to the intercondylar axis/temporomandibular
joint axis, an imaginary axis passing the condyles.

Pros And Cons Of Uniforms
South Hadley High School was once again compelled to tell two students to turn their shirts inside

language. Every day this issue progresses more and more. This has now gotten so out of hand that this
school must make a rule in the code of conduct preventing message t shirts. South Hadley has become
troubled with the safety of both students and faculty. If this irresponsible behavior goes on much
longer the school may not be an exceptional learning environment for students. South Hadley High
School is one of the numerous schools forced to correct dress code. Dozens of students neglect to
realize what harm they are causing by their profane images and slogans depicted on their clothes.
Regulating t shirts is desirable for three reasons. Age plays a large role, students saying hurtful things,
and teaching about language is a school s job. Without a doubt, public schools should regulate
message t shirts. The main reason that public schools should control message t shirts is that age plays
a large role. While growing up the mind of a child is still expanding as is their ability to have rational
decisions. For example, in adolescent years adults can expect the teen to do a task such as babysitting,
but would never ask that from a toddler. As young people age, they are allotted more decisions for
themselves. This is why it is very vital for public schools to manage message t shirts,

Respiratory Acidosis Essay
Respiratory acidosis is when the lungs are unable to remove the normal amount of carbon dioxide as
the body produces it. This leads to an increase in PaCO2 (hypercapnia) which lowers HCO3. The
blood becomes too acidic because of the excess amount of CO2. The average range for PaCO2 is 35
45m Hg. Respiratory acidosis is caused by an issue with the lungs ability to remove CO2 properly, a
form of lung disease. Most causes are asthma, neuromuscular disorders, obesity and COPD. The lungs
and the kidneys regulate the body s pH. Lungs remove CO2 and the kidneys remove acid through the
urine. Treatment would include bronchodilator drugs to open airways, oxygen therapy and a breathing
machine might be prescribed. A person that is much older is more likely to develop this type of disease
since the strength of the kidneys and lungs has weekend with age. Also certain medications can affect
the pH balance of the body. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads to a decline in PCO2 and increases pH. The Main cause for Respiratory alkalosis is
hyperventilation which is over breathing. Panic attacks (anxiety), heart attack, drug use, asthma, fever,
COPD and pulmonary embolism can cause respiratory alkalosis. Again, the lungs here are important
in keeping the blood pH balanced by releasing the perfect amount of carbon dioxide. Treatment is
dependent on the cause of respiratory alkalosis. For instance, if it was for anxiety you would exhale
into a paper bag carbon dioxide and breathe that into the lungs. Doing this can restore the carbon
dioxide back into the body. The body s pH depends on the kidneys and lungs so in elderly it is much
harder to maintain this balance due to the decline in the kidneys and the lungs ability to

existence has been found in countless numbers of stories. But, one remarkable example is a novel

Near the end of the excerpt, when Dubose passed away, Jem received a box. Inside the box was a
white, waxy, perfect camellia (148). However, Jem threw the gift on the ground while screaming old
hell devil, old hell devil (148). It could be argued that he thought that Dubose was mocking him even
after death. He had such a horrible image of her that he didn t even consider that this gift was
supposed to be a sign of forgiveness. It seemed that Atticus understood her true intentions and
explained that it was her way of telling (him) that everything s all right now, ...everything s all right
(149). If the audience combines Atticus s explanation and the scene where Jem destroyed the garden,
it s clear that Mrs. Dubose had a positive motive. The garden was her prized possession, which
explains why he had to pay her back by reading to her for an entire month. Dubose just wanted to give
Jem something that was extremely significant to her. As mentioned before, the tone of the excerpt in
the beginning was a way to show Dubose s malicious side. But with this flower, Jem and the readers
saw this new perspective of Dubose as a person. By only knowing her unpleasant demeanor, we
wouldn t predict that Mrs. Dubose would show this sign of compassion. Therefore, this symbol of
forgiveness depicts the life lesson that there s more to a person than what you are able to

In recent years, environmental sustainability has risen to become an everyday concern. The impact of
the current drought and extreme weather events such as Cyclone Larry on Australian fresh produce
supplies has brought into focus the effects that climate change will have on our business. Paying
attention to sustainability is about future proofing our business.
It s about leadership.
We recognise that Woolworths can take a more prominent role in the debates around sustainability. It
is fair to say that Australian and New Zealand retailers have lagged behind companies in the United
Kingdom and Europe. So we are committed not just to contributing to the debate but to taking
specific, measurable actions to improve our performance. By virtue of our size, scale, and the
complexity of our business, Woolworths is a significant player in the Australian and New Zealand
economies. With that profile comes not only a responsibility to understand and manage our impacts,
but also a tremendous opportunity to achieve lasting and beneficial change that extends beyond our
own operations. We aim to move to a leadership position on sustainability.
It s about listening.
As our knowledge of the way in which human societies impact on the natural world develops, society
s expectations of corporate conduct have evolved. Quite rightly, our stakeholders expect us to consider
the broader, long term implications of our operations as a part of our decision making processes.

Satire In Jonathan Swift
Satire is a literary way to express the imperfections of the society. It is a technique used by writers
who tries to highlight the thought of an individual or a society about corruption, foolishness which is
usually attacked through irony, derision, or wit. Satire and irony are in close connection with each
other. The irony is a form of communication which is usually replacing the meaning spoken by other.
Therefore, the irony makes the difference between what is said and what is meant. Irony is a literary
technique synonymous with satire, in which there is an inconsistency between the literal and implied
meaning of either a situation or a statement. (Breanna Derlagen). The characteristic of the satire is to
depict the reality in a comic ironic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No law in that country must exceed in words the number of letters in their alphabet, which consists
only of two and twenty... They are expressed in the plainest and simple terms, wherein those people
are not mercurial enough to discover above one interpretation: and to write a comment upon any law,
is a capital crime.
(Jonathan Swift, Gulliver s Travels)
According to these lines the laws in this world are short and easily admissible, therefore, the lawyers
and the court don t have to contend so much by the structure of the legal system. Indeed, the writer
criticizes here the legal system of England, because the laws there are long and intricately issued
which makes it difficult to understand in its own language. The third section of this book is about the
voyage to Laputa, where he meets a group of people who are completely away from the reality. He
observes that how these people with higher intellectual are behaving with their servants. Swift also
explores that some of

In Many Developing Countries, Corruption Is A Barrier To
In many developing countries, corruption is a barrier to economic growth. Corruption can prevent the
fair allocation of goods and services to citizens by trickling to aspects of everyday life. On a
macroeconomic level, scholars are of the belief that corruption hinders economic growth and
development (Mauro, 1995).
Definition
Corruption is often described as a cancer, one official simply referred to it as the AIDs of democracy
(Johnston, 1996). Corruption has been defined in a variety of ways, including as dishonest or
fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery . There is no clear cut definition of
corruption. Nevertheless, as mentioned in the previous section the World Bank s definition will be

3. A corruption index sold by the International Country Risk Guide (ICRG), a private business
consulting company.
While the indicators have been widely used in empirical research, some researchers have questioned
about the accuracy of these measures and the validity of their use in empirical research (Campbell,
2013). As most estimates of corruption are based on surveys of perception. These perception surveys
have the advantage of good coverage it is much easier to ask someone s perceptions of corruption than
to measure corruption. However, the validity and reliability of perception indicators as measures of
corruption, they remain in fact, a reference for people and both businesses and political leaders to
make decisions, enabling them to gauge the impact of corruption on the economy. Some would see as
better to go in with some information rather than nothing at all.
There are two competing views when discussing corruption. The first suggest that corruption creates
barriers to a country s development. This is mainly seen in recent literature, for example, Rose
Ackerman (1999) and Knack and Keefer (1995). The second being that corruption can be beneficial
for a country s development as they can easily overcome barriers such as regulation to complete
projects although this is not a popular opinion. This review mainly tackles literature from the school of
thought that corruption can be harmful to a

Effects Of Urbanization
Essay
Urbanization is an increasing number of city dwellers compared to people living in rural areas. Urban
development in poor nations has resulted in multiple issues such as air pollution and health problems.
Urban growth puts an enormous strain on social services. This essay will explain how rapid,
uncontrolled urbanization has led to serious consequences in developing countries.
Urbanization leads to several health issues. One of these problems is a rise of epidemic. Because of a
dramatically number of people, it may become more difficult to deal with an outbreak. These
epidemics occur at an incredible speed, hence, controlling them must be a big question for the
authorities (Berley 2016). Not only does the speed happen swiftly but ... Show more content on

The hospitals as well as the healthcare centre are overload, and they are not able to provide the
healthcare insurance for all patients. In addition, a shortage of medicines and drugs is a serious issue.
Because of a great number of people, the demanding of vaccines and medicines underwent a
significant growth. In the past, one in five children cannot have a full vaccine program, but today even
children in the urban areas also suffer the lack of vaccines. Moreover, when the outbreaks spread out
the source of medicine will not be adequate for all people.
Moreover, air pollution has caused by the rapid, uncontrolled urbanization in developing countries.
Urbanization lead to a negative impact on economic development since it is expensive to keep the air
fresh. China lost nearly 10% of its GDP, India 7.69% and Siri Lanka and Cambodia roughly 8%
because of air pollution (Vidal 2016a). A loss of productive labour lead to the lower income average
(Vidal 2016a). Thus, the economic in those developing countries cannot growth as fast as its ability.
Air pollution, moreover, contribute to a server impact on agriculture (Kaiman 2014). The toxic air and
smog is preventing the growth of plenty of plants. In China, diseased vegetable is caused by the
ambient polluted air (Kaiman 2014). In the process of nurturing such plants, the quality of the plants
may be affected significantly. Moreover, the health of

Conflict Between Israel And Palestine
The big question we ask ourselves today is, will Israel and Palestine ever agree to stop fighting? The
conflict between Israel and Palestine has been traced all the way back to 1948 through 2005 in The
Israel Palestine Land Settlement Problem, written by Charles Rowley and Jennis Taylor. However, this
conflict did not end in 2005. This article was written in 2006, so anything within the last 10 years is
not included. The conflict between the two counties still continues to this day and still remains a major
problem. Israelis and Arabs have been fighting over Gaza on and off for decades now. The three issues
laid out in this article are the four major wars that took place, the refugee problem, and the conflict
between religions. It concludes with the road map to peace. Throughout his whole book, The Israel
Palestine Conflict, Gelvin speaks of the same historical events that occurred between Israel and
Palestine, while the article reveals there are still other conflicts, the land settlement problem has been
the major conflict between Israel and Palestine since 1948. The problem is, simply put, a dispute over
real estate (Gelvin 3). This conflict has resulted in major wars during the period of time following
World War II. The 1948 1949 Arab Israeli war began when Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon invaded
Palestine. The second war that occurred, was the 1956 Suez Canal War, at the end of this war Israel
agreed to withdraw from the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza strip

Should College Football Players Be Paid

English 102
7 April 2017
Should College Football Players be Paid In the United States, sports are seen as an escape from the
real world and have become a huge entertainment industry. One of if not the most popular and
profitable sports in the country is college football. In every state across the country, thousands of
people pack into stadiums on Saturday to see their favorite team play. For many universities, one of
the departments that makes the most revenue is the athletic department. Even here at Coastal, which is
not a big time college football program, the university makes large amounts of money off of the
football team and the players are not compensated monetarily. A majority of the time, the atheltes ...

College football rising to be one of the most popular sports has put a huge price tag on big game
tickets. The athletes never see a dime of the millions made off the championships that they grinded a
long season to get to. Under the management of the NCAA, there has been a drastic increase in how
popular college football is. Today, College football is only second in popularity to the most popular
sport in the country, the NFL. What makes the sport so popular is every single state has a college
football team to root for and most states have a big name division 1 team. The large supply of college
football meets and equally large demand and the effect of every city having a home town team makes
this sport extremely popular. If you look at the top ranked football teams of last year, none are in
major cities. In the top five you have: Tuscaloosa, Columbus, Louisville, Ann Arbor, and Clemson. In
most of the cities mentioned football on Saturday is king. In these five cities on Saturday night
everyone stops what they are doing and watches their favorite team play. The fact that these small
towns can have nationally recognized programs plays a role in the popularity of college football. TV
contracts also boosts college football s popularity and increases revenue exponentially. Games that are
nationally televised gives national exposure to small town schools. TV are actually what makes
schools so much money off athletics. TV networks pay ridiculous amounts of money for the rights to
broadcast the schools football team, stuffing the pockets of the university. Marc Tracy of The New
York Times writes, Under the championship playoff format that began this season, ESPN is paying
$7.3 billion over 12 years to telecast seven games a year (Tracy). ESPN and other networks are
willing to pay billions of dollars to see college athletes compete without any

exciting game of the season to observe. The team I was routing for was the Golden State
Warriors, which was my favorite player on this team was Stephen Curry.(Still is my favorite player on

it s time for you to go to sleep,it s getting late, whispered my dad. Okay,I guess I will go to sleep, after
all it is getting late, I state. After this I decided maybe I should go to sleep, after all I am pretty tired!!
So I then went to sleep and the night went on like normal.School was also the same, nothing special

  • 2. Introduction. Throughout The Course Of Oneā€™S Academic And Introduction Throughout the course of one s academic and professional career, one will be required to create, present, and receive needed information via numerous presentations which utilize slide deck software such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Apple s Keynote. In this project, I will discuss the effective use of these applications to create presentations which effectively utilize elements of visual design to effectively communicate with an audience. My interest in this topic comes from my experience as both a student and a professional. In these capacities, I have regularly experience both the audience and the presenter side of slide shows and I have seen how this method of disseminating information can both excite and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Technology has given anyone with basic computer knowledge the ability to create multimodal blended structure slide decks, and then distribute this media throughout the internet. I utilized The Non Designer s Design Book because it emphasizes the four basic principles of good visual design, which can easily be applied to create slide based presentations. These four principles include contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity. The proper implementation of the principles are key to the creation of an effective slideshow presentation. Another influential reading from our course which I am able to apply to my project is Visual Language for Designers. The main points I take from this reading, which are applicable to this project are the idea of minimalism in a low fidelity visual and the idea of reducing the quantity of elements in a visual. For this project, I also utilized other sources which dealt directly with the effective use of visual in presentations. One valuable project resource was a 2014 TEDx talk given by David JP Phillips entitle How to Avoid Death by PowerPoint. The main points taken from this source include the limitation of one topic per slide, the importance of the size of visuals in presentations, the ability to capture the attention of an audience with the effective use of ... • 3. Archetypes In The Hunger Games There are many movies, shows, plays, and books that contain archetypes. It may have been hard to recognize them because you are unaware of what they are. An archetype is a very typical example of a person or thing. Some major archetypes we see in literature are the hero, star crossed lover, mentor, underdog, the devil, angel, and many more. One version of literature that has many archetypes is the Hunger Games. Archetypes that are exhibited in the Hunger Games is in many of the characters like Katniss Everdeen , Peeta Mellark, Shaymitch Abernathy, Gale Hawthorne, Primrose Everdeen, President Snow and many more characters but some of the main archetypes that are shown in the Hunger Games is the Hero, the Underdog, and the Star crossed lovers. If you have not seen the Hunger Games there may be some confusion on what it is. The Hunger Games were made to keep the districts of Panem from revolting against the capital. The 12 districts made up Panem. Every year the capital holds a annual Hunger Games for all 12 of the districts. One girl and one boy would be picked at random from each district to participate in the Hunger games. Each player must fight to the finish and wipe out one another until there is only one left. At the reaping of the 74th hunger games Primrose Everdeen, Katnisses sister was chosen to be district 12s women tribute. It starts with inflammation of gums (gingivitis) which when left untreated may proceed to cause bone loss (periodontitis). As the support of the tooth is lost, gum diseases lead to lose teeth. Cause: The primary cause of gum diseases is plaque, the sticky bio film of bacteria that is constantly forming on our teeth. But there are following factors which increase the risk of developing it: Poor oral hygiene Smoking or chewing tobacco Genetics and family history of gum diseases Crooked teeth that are hard to keep clean Pregnancy, hormonal changes Other diseases like diabetes, cancer, HIV Medications like steroids, anti epilepsy drugs, cancer therapy drugs, some ... Gingivitis, an early stage of the gum disease is still reversible as the disease is still only isolated to gums and hasn t yet spread to the bone. It can be easily treated with simple non invasive professional cleaning by the dentist, followed by daily brushing, flossing and mouthwash rinses. Periodontitis, an advanced gum disease has spread to the bone and requires surgical treatment. Scaling of teeth The first and foremost treatment is cleaning of the teeth by a dentist to remove the plaque and tartar/calculus (hardened bacterial film). Hemingway s code entails following the ideals of honor, courage and endurance in a world that is sometimes chaotic, often stressful, and always painful. Two characters, each written by Ernest Hemingway and John Steinbeck, respectively, both demonstrate and fall short of Hemingway s standard. Santiago, of Ernest Hemingway s Old Man and the Sea, fits the code in his perseverance through the hardships he endures while fishing, and even though Santiago was written by the creator of Code Hero, fails to reflect it in his impatience. All of George s motives were to keep Lennie safe and give him the best and happiest life he could. George was persevering and courageous enough to do all it would take, including sacrificing his mental state to put Lennie out of his misery. This new Kingdom in the opinion of the English ensured political and military stability on the Island of Great Britain, neutralizing the Scottish MP s by absorbing them into the Westminster system. However, by 1706, the prospect of a parliamentary union with England intensified the fears of many Scottish Presbyterians for the security of their church. The actions of the Presbyterian Church in relation to its pre and post Union position can be seen as inconsistent, divided and littered with ad hoc decisions in response to the changing political events. It is important to acknowledge the importance religion played in eighteenth century society, as sermons were seen as divine, righteous and promoted God s word on earth. The Church was seen as a meeting place for many in the community where political, Social and religious ideas could be communicated freely, while sermons in their own right were blueprints of how one should attempt to live ones life on earth. With this in mind, the vast account s of sermons on the 1707 Union reflects how the Church was attempting to indoctrinate its congregations into accepting pro union ideas, both before and after it was signed. Biblical comparisons to the Union, made it difficult for the congregation to question it publically, while it also promoted the idea of social hegemony between pro and anti Union supporters, using the Ten commandments as the Reverend Charles Bean stated. This concept was shared by Rev Chandler and Rev Freke who both preached thanksgiving sermons on how one should attempt to dwell with brethren in unity. The first, and oldest, is Judaism, founded several thousand years ago in the Middle East; then there is Christianity, the most popular religion in the world, which was founded shortly after the death of Christ; finally, there is Islam, the second most popular religion in the world, founded by the prophet Muhammed in the 7th century ACE. Islam has over one billion followers of the Islamic faith. Although it is one of the most popular religions in the world, many people do not know much about what Muslims, followers of Islam, believe in. Due to the rising publicity of militant terrorist groups in the Middle East, Islamophobia has become rampant in many first world countries. Although the media portrays violent and barbaric acts performed by militant Muslims, a majority of Muslims do not commit such atrocities and are wrongly persecuted. Only by educating those who do not know about Islam, can it be assured that Islamophobia will dwindle. Islam was founded in Saudi Arabia by a prophet named Muhammed. Muhammed is considered to be the greatest prophet in the Muslim faith, the second greatest prophet in the Muslim faith is considered to be Jesus Christ himself. As a voter, I would want to know that in the future I would be safe at work with good pay to be able not to live in poverty. There were many strikes that occurred, demanding change in labor in 1912. In the Lawrence Strike, people fought for higher wages, shorter hours, safer working conditions, regulation of woman and child labor, and workmen s compensation. Shelly s life has had many ups and downs that I believe has majorly contributed to the novel. Has she related her personality to the character Frankensteins personality? She would not have been able to create many details in the story without using inspiration from her memories, and things she has experienced in her own life. Does her life reflect how Victor was seen as the monster, and why Frankenstein seems like a nice creature even though the characters in the novel see him as hideous and ugly? Mary Shelly was actually born as Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin on August 30, 1797 in London, England. She was the daughter of a philosopher and political writer William Godwin. Sadly after giving birth to Mary, her mother passed away. Shelly was left to be cared for by her father, William, and older half sister, Fanny Imlay. When the author says, loosed from the dream of life, the reader gets a slight feeling of death or a vision of someone dying. The fourth line, I woke to the black flak and the nightmare fighters, brings the reader visual, auditory and tactile imagery. The reader can picture someone waking up to shrapnel, from an exploding bomb, flying by their head. One can hear the gunfire of the, nightmare fighters, along with the exploding shells. The reader also gets a tactile image when the author says, I woke up, because everyone knows what it is like to wake up from a sleep. In the fifth and final line the reader gets a very graphic visual image. The reader can picture someone s body being so destroyed that instead of removing the body from the turret the soldiers must wash it out with a hose. • 15. Adler s The Neglect Of The Intellect Sloth In his article The Neglect of the Intellect: Sloth, Mortimer J. Adler asserts that the disuse of a person s intellect is a moral injustice. Adler coins the term sloth to describe the people committing this moral crime. He believes that people should use their intellectual abilities for their own personal pleasure rather than for economic or political gain. Adler employs an aggressive tone when describing the abuse of the intellect, and appeals to the reader s emotion when portraying intellect as a way the only way to live a morally good life. Adler s purpose is to convince his readers that intellect should be used solely for the purpose of increasing knowledge. While Adler s article gives a reasonably convincing argument about learning for your own well being, he fails to support his claims, baffles his readers with the overuse of intelligent sounding words, and neglects to explain why you should be intellectual just for the sake of it. Alder fails to support his claims. Because of this, his claims come across as opinions, not allegations. In paragraph 4, Adler says, Sloth is a moral fault, but unlike injustice that results in misconduct toward others, sloth is a moral fault that causes the misconduct of the individual s private life. This quote demonstrates how Adler makes a statement, but never elaborates on it. He calls the sloth a moral fault, but doesn t explain how that is true. Adler also mentions that your private life will be affected, but never precedes to explain how that could happen. Another example is when Adler states, But there are a great many more who have sufficient ability to make the effort and fail to do so (paragraph 3). Adler neglects to explain to the reader how this statement is true. He later lists the activities of the people he referred to engage in, but he never demonstrates an example of failure to use their intellectual abilities. Adler s failure to support his claims discredits his argument. Throughout his article, Adler uses intellectual language that can make it hard for his audience to read. Words he uses like lethargy and torpor take away from the purpose of his article. Adler is trying to convince his audience to seek knowledge for enjoyment, but his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Boston Tea Party Research Paper The Boston Tea Party was a tremendous moment in history that was caused by many factors and had many lasting effects that led to the war that shaped our country into what it is today, The Revolutionary War. The Boston Tea Party occurred due to the creation of The Tea Act in 1773. The colonists retaliated by taking tea off of a British boat and throwing it into the harbor. That closed all ports in and out of Boston until the tea that was thrown into the harbor was paid for. That was too expensive for the colonists to pay for, and if they did, then the British would still come out as the winners in the retaliation against this tax. • 18. Unit 11 Assignment 2 Cardiovascular And Transport Systems Unit 11 Assignment 2: Cardiovascular and Respiratory Systems M2. Explain the need for a transport system in a multi cellular organism There are two types of cellular organisms: Unicellular organism Multi cellular organism Unicellular Organism A unicellular organism is a single celled organism (one cell), which is to rely on the process of diffusion, when moving different substances in and out of other cells, due to its structure it has a larger surface area in comparison to its volume; this is because each organism is built for a specific function. However, they transport materials such as oxygen and urea in and out of bodies, through diffusion and osmosis. Multi cellular Organism A multi cellular is consists of more than one cell, it has a small surface area, compared to its volume. This means that its structure is specialised to do more than one function, especially exchanging surfaces, such as lungs, and transporting systems. Its transportation system requires food and oxygen to be transported from one place to another. Why do we need a transport system? The reason for having a transport system is because the single celled organisms, also known as unicellular organism are small, meaning that they have a large surface area, in comparison to their volume; a large surface area to volume ratio. As they are known for having one cell, the substances diffuse through their relatively large plasma membrane. This also means that they are able to diffuse ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. The Turn Of The Screw Analysis The Turn of the Screw is one of the most controversial works in literature and the text has provoked a variety of critical interpretations from its publication in 1898. In this novel, the governess tells her experience with two apparitions that no one but she could see. And the governess accuses the ghosts of servants for corrupting the children, Miles and Flora. Critics concerning about the truth of the story are divided two basic camps based on their acceptance or rejection of the governess s credibility as a storyteller. Some critics believe that the ghosts are real and the governess is a rational and credible narrator, while the others believe that the ghosts are hallucinations of the governess and regard the governess as an incredible and mentally abnormal narrator. Also, we could speculate the author s intention on the basis of his life experience and other works of Henry James. This essay will examine the reliability of the governess on the basis of the text and interpret Henry James s intention on the basis of other sources. The critics from psychanalytic perspective claim that the existence of ghosts is the governess s hysterical delusion. The ghost is the projection of governess s own sexual hysteria, which resulted from the conflict between native romantic impulses and idealistic innocence required by Victorian society (Renner). The inexperienced governess encounters the handsome, bold, young gentleman with charming ways with women (James, 4) and she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Published in 1919, Hermann Hesse s, Demian, tells the story of an older man s reflection on his childhood. Throughout the novel, main character Emil Sinclair struggles to find a purpose and meaning for his life. He faces many difficulties in an attempt to find himself. This is a novel of self discovery and the pursuit of happiness. Because Hesse displays a power struggle between two elements of binaries, the binaries mirror the struggles that Sinclair faces and his final acceptance of this. The novel begins with recollections of 10 year old Sinclair. Hesse illustrates the two realms or worlds that Sinclair is aware of at this age. One world is of light and one world is of darkness. The world of light consists of everything good, pure, and innocent while the world of darkness is everything evil, sin and deceit. In the early 1960 s white was the major race and white americans were who were superior to those of color. Later on in the 1960 s is when African Americans started to fight for full and equal rights. If you were not white you did not mean anything or have anything of value. Usually they were slaves for white families and were told to do as they instructed. This provoked for the Civil Rights Movement. That eventually lead to African Americans having the same privileges as Whites. Now many years later we would think racism and discrimination does not happen but it does daily. Tying all this together was a play called Dutchman. Which is a strong play that expresses race and how racism is the dominate trait in the story and also stereotyping african americans. The narrator through out the play in Dutchman deals with the issue of race by letting a white women talk and disrespect a black man. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We re always changing, but the first drastic change in our lives is the coming of age. It s something that signifies your shift from adolescence to adulthood. However, coming of age is more than just another transition of your life. It s also about the life events and lessons that will stay with you as one matures. However, Jem threw the gift on the ground while screaming old hell devil, old hell devil (148). It could be argued that he thought that Dubose was mocking him even after death. He had such a horrible image of her that he didn t even consider that this gift was supposed to be a sign of forgiveness. It seemed that Atticus understood her true intentions and explained that it was her way of telling (him) that everything s all right now, ...everything s all right (149). If the audience combines Atticus s explanation and the scene where Jem destroyed the garden, it s clear that Mrs. Dubose had a positive motive. The garden was her prized possession, which explains why he had to pay her back by reading to her for an entire month. Dubose just wanted to give Jem something that was extremely significant to her. As mentioned before, the tone of the excerpt in the beginning was a way to show Dubose s malicious side. But with this flower, Jem and the readers saw this new perspective of Dubose as a person. By only knowing her unpleasant demeanor, we wouldn t predict that Mrs. Dubose would show this sign of compassion. Therefore, this symbol of forgiveness depicts the life lesson that there s more to a person than what you are able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The impact of the current drought and extreme weather events such as Cyclone Larry on Australian fresh produce supplies has brought into focus the effects that climate change will have on our business. Paying attention to sustainability is about future proofing our business. It s about leadership. We recognise that Woolworths can take a more prominent role in the debates around sustainability. It is fair to say that Australian and New Zealand retailers have lagged behind companies in the United Kingdom and Europe. So we are committed not just to contributing to the debate but to taking specific, measurable actions to improve our performance. By virtue of our size, scale, and the complexity of our business, Woolworths is a significant player in the Australian and New Zealand economies. Corruption can prevent the fair allocation of goods and services to citizens by trickling to aspects of everyday life. On a macroeconomic level, scholars are of the belief that corruption hinders economic growth and development (Mauro, 1995). Definition Corruption is often described as a cancer, one official simply referred to it as the AIDs of democracy (Johnston, 1996). Corruption has been defined in a variety of ways, including as dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power, typically involving bribery . There is no clear cut definition of corruption. While the indicators have been widely used in empirical research, some researchers have questioned about the accuracy of these measures and the validity of their use in empirical research (Campbell, 2013). As most estimates of corruption are based on surveys of perception. These perception surveys have the advantage of good coverage it is much easier to ask someone s perceptions of corruption than to measure corruption. However, the validity and reliability of perception indicators as measures of corruption, they remain in fact, a reference for people and both businesses and political leaders to make decisions, enabling them to gauge the impact of corruption on the economy. Some would see as better to go in with some information rather than nothing at all. There are two competing views when discussing corruption. The first suggest that corruption creates barriers to a country s development. This is mainly seen in recent literature, for example, Rose Ackerman (1999) and Knack and Keefer (1995). The second being that corruption can be beneficial for a country s development as they can easily overcome barriers such as regulation to complete projects although this is not a popular opinion. • 49. Conflict Between Israel And Palestine The big question we ask ourselves today is, will Israel and Palestine ever agree to stop fighting? The conflict between Israel and Palestine has been traced all the way back to 1948 through 2005 in The Israel Palestine Land Settlement Problem, written by Charles Rowley and Jennis Taylor. However, this conflict did not end in 2005. This article was written in 2006, so anything within the last 10 years is not included. The conflict between the two counties still continues to this day and still remains a major problem. Israelis and Arabs have been fighting over Gaza on and off for decades now. The three issues laid out in this article are the four major wars that took place, the refugee problem, and the conflict between religions. It concludes with the road map to peace. Throughout his whole book, The Israel Palestine Conflict, Gelvin speaks of the same historical events that occurred between Israel and Palestine, while the article reveals there are still other conflicts, the land settlement problem has been the major conflict between Israel and Palestine since 1948. The problem is, simply put, a dispute over real estate (Gelvin 3). This conflict has resulted in major wars during the period of time following World War II. The 1948 1949 Arab Israeli war began when Egypt, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon invaded Palestine. The second war that occurred, was the 1956 Suez Canal War, at the end of this war Israel agreed to withdraw from the Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza strip ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today, College football is only second in popularity to the most popular sport in the country, the NFL. What makes the sport so popular is every single state has a college football team to root for and most states have a big name division 1 team. The large supply of college football meets and equally large demand and the effect of every city having a home town team makes this sport extremely popular. If you look at the top ranked football teams of last year, none are in major cities. In the top five you have: Tuscaloosa, Columbus, Louisville, Ann Arbor, and Clemson. In most of the cities mentioned football on Saturday is king. In these five cities on Saturday night everyone stops what they are doing and watches their favorite team play.
