Small Biz Community and Economic Development Corp is a nonprofit organization established in 2008 by local business people to unite small businesses and promote economic development. Their mission is to foster economic growth, create jobs, educate businesses, and empower youth. They accomplish their goals through partnerships with other organizations and have established a small business resource center providing workshops and resources. They host various events and programs that support small businesses and the community.

2. HISTORY



Small Biz Community and Economic Development Corp
is a community based 501C(3) non-profit organization
established in April 29, 2008 by a group of local and
retired business people who felt the need to unite small
businesses to become a collective voice as it pertains to
economic development in the community. Our office is
headquartered at 164 N. Powerline Rd, Pompano
Beach, FL 33069. We can be reached at 954-353-6396

3. OUR MISSION
To promote and foster economic development and selfsufficiency to economically distressed slum and
blighted areas within the community. To stimulate,
create,
maintain
and
promote
employment
opportunities within the community. To act as a
catalyst for interaction among and between small
businesses.
To educate businesses on ways to
improve their client base and operate effectively and
efficiently. To empower youth to succeed financially,
socially and intellectually within a business
environment through education, mentoring and on-thejob work experience.

We accomplish many of our goals by partnering with forprofit and non-profit entities to promote and develop
programs to achieve our common objective. One of our
business partners is the Greater Pompano Beach
Chamber of Commerce. One of their representative
service on our board and one of our representative
service on our board.


CREATION OF THE SMALL BIZ RESOURCE CENTER
WHICH PROVIDES LOW COST COMPUTER CLASSES,
BUSINESS WORKSHOPS & BUSINESS RESOURCES.
EDUCATION, CRIME & EMPLOYMENT FORUM TO
CREATE AN AWARENESS OF ISSUES, DISCUSS
SOLUTIONS & PRESENT RESOURCES TO THE
COMMUNITY.
SMALL BIZ EXPO & SUIT DONATION FOR THE
HOMELESS IN COLLABORATION WITH POMPANO
BEACH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE WE PROVIDED
OVER 100 SUITS TO THE HOMELESS SHELTER ON
BLOUNT ROAD.
SMALL BIZ HEALTH & WELLNESS FEST IN
COLLABORATION WITH BROWARD HEALTH
PROVIDED HEALTH RESOURCES AND
SCREENING FROM LOCAL HEALTH PROVIDERS.

MEET THE CANDIDATES NIGHT IN COLLABORATION
WITH NAILS, POMPANO BEACH DEMOCRATIC CLUB
PROVIDED AN OPPORTUNITY TO LISTEN TO

SMALL BIZ CHRISTMAS PARTY & SCHOLARSHIP
DRIVE IN HONOR OF SOME OF OUR FOUNDERS
RAISED ENOUGH MONEY TO PROVIDE A
SCHOLARSHIPS TO A NEEDY STUDENT.
SPEARHEADED BY MEMBERS VICENTE THROWER &
VINCE JOHNSON, WE WORK DILIGENTLY TO SOLICITE
DONATIONS TO PROVIDE TURKEYS AN GIFT CARDS
FOR NEEDY FAMILIES FOR CHRISTMAS.

QUARTER WE HOST AN AFTER-HOURS NETWORKING
EVENT AT A LOCATION RESTURANT FOR BUSINESSES
TO HAVE FUN & EXHANGE BUSINESS CARDS &
NETWORK.
MONTHLY MORNING MEETINGS PROVIDING
WORKSHOPS ON BUSINESS RELATED TOPICS AND
EXTENDING AN INVITES TO SMALL BUSINESSES TO
JOIN THE ORGANIZATION.
