2. INTRODUCTION
❑ Naturalism is the "idea or belief that only natural (as
opposed to supernatural or spiritual) laws and forces
operate in the world."
❑ The ultimate reality is of “NATURE”; nothing is
before, behind and beyond Nature.
❑ Nature alone contains the normal and the final
answer to all philosophical problems pertaining to
education.
4. DEFINITION OF NATURALISM
❑ According to James Ward, “Naturalism
is the doctrine that separates nature from
god, subordinates spirit to matter and sets
up unchangeable laws as supreme.”
❑ According to Robert R. Rusk, “Naturalism is a
philosophical position adopted by those who approach
philosophy from purely scientific point of view.”
